Top Prospects to Stash! Kade Anderson DOMINATING! (5/6 Fantasy Baseball Podcast)

Kate Anderson is destroying the miners. Let's talk about it on fantasy baseball today. Express. Welcome into FB T Express on Wednesday, May 6th. I am Frank Sample join five. Scott White pouring it to the five prospects on the verge. Let's talk about five others that are making some noise lately. We have Spencer Jones with Yankees, Cole Carrick with the Rockies, Ethan Solis with the Padres, Kevin Alcountero with the Cubs and Justin Gonzalez with the Red Sox. Scott, what do we have on this group? All right. We'll start with Spencer Jones, who is doing his thing at Triple A. He just home read again on on Tuesday. It was a loud and long home run from a very, what would be the word for the batting stance? There are a lot of moving parts to this batting stance. Spencer Jones constantly tweaking, trying to figure out a way where he's not eating the live by strikeouts. And hey, lately it's been working his last seven games. He has six home runs in those seven games, batting 379, also two steals. In those seven games, that's an underrated part of Spencer Jones skill set. It's really all there. It's a very inviting fantasy friendly profile. If he could just make enough contact and I don't think he ever will. But you know, it's, it's a 33% rate now during that seven game stretch. It's been 29%. Look, that might work with as hard as he hits the ball. Is there an opening in the Yankees outfield? Obviously not. They finally found a spot for Jason Dominguez, which is why we're not talking about Spencer Jones as a five on the verge. But could there develop one this year? I do think at some point Spencer Jones gets called up this year. He's got to continue what he's doing here recently, though, to get that chance. All right, Cole Carrick of the Rockies. This is a prospect that fell out of favor last year, but he's all the way up to Triple A now. Time sure flies and he's doing a good job there. Racking up extra base hit. Not not so much home runs, but doubles, triples, a couple home runs. And also steals. He just stole his 20th base Tuesday. So very prolific on the base paths. Very athletic player. He's mostly playing center field, but the Rockies have kind of reintroduced him to shortstop this year too. So obviously it's a friendly environment. It would be easy to make a path for a Cole Carrick. If he continues to hit well at Triple A so far, so good as far as that goes. Ethan Salis, another prospect that fell out of favor. He was, remember a couple of years ago, highly regarded as a 19 year old catcher who made it to double air. It wasn't even 18 years. He may have been 18. He was very young. And that was a lot of what was driving the enthusiasm for Ethan Salis. But then he struggled the last couple of years in the minors. May have finally figured things out. Still a double A. So you know, he's repeated there a few times, but may finally be, may be finally figuring things out there. Slashing 325 413 588. The plate discipline has been good. He has five home runs. He has six stolen bases. He's a defensive standout behind the plate for the Padres. So like the bats, the only issue here. And if it's finally clicking for him now that he's a more appropriate age for his level, I think Ethan Salis, we're going to see him fly back up prospect ranking very soon. Kevin Alcantara of the Cubs. Now we've seen him in the majors a couple times before. He has been repeating triple A for the last few years. I don't think many people regard him as much of a prospect, but he's anymore, but he's still only 23. And the the the book on Alcantara is that like the athleticism stands out. Hits the ball hard is just he waste too much of it on the ground. Well, his fly ball rate at triple A this year, it's about doubled from where it's normally is normally. It's, you know, 25 30% it's a 50% right now. So like he is elevating big time and sure enough, 12 home runs for Kevin Alcantara, triple A that is tied for the minor league lead. Striking out too much, striking out even more than Spencer Jones. So I'm not sure the trade off that's happening there is going to pay off in the long run. But hey, at least Alcantara's to living power at 23. Hardly, hardly a closed book, I would say. And then finally, the one you probably haven't heard of, maybe you have Justin Gonzalez of the red socks, six foot six hulking teenager at high a greenville. And he kind of had the Alcantara thing going as well, not the tall guy, not the tall fielder without contra thing going on too much on the ground, big power potentially, but too much contact wasted on the ground. And while his fly ball rate has an exploded the way Alcantara has this year, it has gone up. The ground ball rate has gone from an awful 60% to more like 50% this year. And he's off to a productive start there at high a so Justin Gonzalez with the athleticism he has high quality contact. Pretty good, but pretty good plate discipline. If he can tap into that power, he might emerge as the legitimate prospect. All right. We've got the five on the verge right after this quick break. Let's count down the five prospects or minor leaguers that are on the verge of getting the call up and number five is Ryan Walshmit with the D backs. What's the latest here, Scotty? Well, the latest is that he was removed from a game Tuesday after getting hit in the head by a pitch. Not good. We're still waiting for an update on that. It it sounds like he was in good spirits coming off the field and it hopefully wasn't too serious. But obviously that would take him out of the five on the version. And frankly, I don't know that he is really on the verge. It's kind of tough coming up with five names that are actually worth stashing in fantasy right now. Charlie Condon is in a deep slump at AAA. So he's kind of taken himself out of the running. Max Clark is in a slump as well. Colt Emerson hasn't been performing well. Thomas White and Hagen Smith are both missing bats at AAA, but they're not pitching that well. Otherwise. So Walshmit, you know, at least his overall stat line looks good. The skill set is strong. He has a pretty clear path if the diamond backs are ever willing to give up on Alec Thomas. But he hasn't been as hottest to know. He might be injured. So who knows? Number four on this. Oh, go ahead. Go ahead. Got a number four is AJ huing with the Metz. I believe I could be wrong. He's a new addition to this list. He has a new addition. We talked about him as being on the periphery. Last week, he had just moved up to AAA. And it seemed like there was any chance he'd be in the major soon. But all he's done since reaching AAA, AJ huing is go 11 for 25. Already there. He has stolen four bases perfect for four for four and steals a double a triple again that 440 batting average. And with Louise Robert being down. The Metz in center fields. Look at kind of week right now. I don't know. They've been weak offensively all year. There's a lot of dismay. Maybe AJ huing with those incredible bat skills on base ability. Spark plug on the bases. Maybe he's exactly what they need. It's a long shot. But if he keeps hitting this well at AAA, he's going to shrink that timetable down to nothing. The number three prospect on the verge here is Kate Anderson of the Mariners, who is just destroying the minors. He is. He is. And so this is one of those where like I don't think Kate Anderson is coming up tomorrow. In fact, the Mariners are already going to have a dilemma with with Bryce Miller coming back from the eye. How do they fit six pitchers in five spots? So the argument for stashing Kate Anderson is less about proximity than just impact. Because he is. He's ready for the majors. I understand he hasn't even pitched a triple A yet. But an O37 ERA and five triple A starts a point seven O whip 14.1 K per nine. He's walking nobody. He's missing bats like crazy. He has a deep dominant arsenal. So like one of my regrets from last year was not putting chase burns in the five on the verge sooner, because he hadn't reached triple A yet. He ended up making only two starts of triple A. And again, that was his first year after being drafted like Kate Anderson's in his first year of being drafted. I think it's going to play out the same way for the Mariners pitch. And while there's not an opening now, there will be at some point just because that's the way pitching goes. The number two minor leaker to stash right now is no early marty of the reds. Yes, he's not a prospect, but he is destroying the minors as well. And I could perhaps be one injury or slump away from rejoining the reds. Yeah, they ended up calling up JJ Blade ahead of him and Blade has performed well. So you can't really criticize them for that move, but you say marty is performing well at triple A. what that means is a 397 batting average reaching base at a 4.79 clip, three home runs, eight stolen bases, and just 16 games, by the way. So he is, like, he's clearly too good for Triple A. And I think we already knew that. But the slow start he got off to, I don't know, I think there was some fear. It would just, he would continue to scuffle in the minors. Hasn't gone that way at all. The reds have been playing him a lot in centerfield since the right field experiment didn't work. I think less, having reading fly balls with less slice might, might help things improve from Arte. But it also, the way the reds are talking, I don't know that his return is imminent either. Let me see who this is that I have the quote for. I think it's their general manager. You know, the way they've, they, they, they call it like the general manager role now is a lot of times president of baseball operations. Brad Maidor is who I'm quoting here. And it's, he says it's more about the process. As we've seen, there's a big gap right now between what's happening in Triple A and what's happening in the big leagues. We've seen it with a few of our guys. You're hitting breaking balls off the plate. That doesn't work here in the majors. It's more than what his numbers look like. So that does not sound like a ringing endorsement from Arte as well as he's performing. Like it still sounds like there are things they want to see. I don't know. I mean, I can't come up with many better minor's leakers to stash except for one. And let's talk about Robbie snowing is number one on the list. Robbie snowing of the Marlins. And we recently learned that they defaid Chris paddock and snowing could be here as soon as Friday. So that would be very exciting. Yes, it would. Yes, it would. Robbie snowing has been dominant. You could say a Triple A. Certainly with the number of bats he's missed. His strike out rate is phenomenal. The problem is his weighing strike rate is less than 11% and will that work in the majors if you're not coaxing swings and misses against minor league hitters. Huge leap to major league hitters. Are they going to? Are they going to? Is that approach going to work because it's weird. It's weird to miss that many bats with so few whiffs. Also, the walk rate has been high for Robbie snowing. And so there are warts here. The ERA is great. It's below two. It was like 120 in his 11 starts of Triple A last year. So just from that perspective, it's like, yeah, get excited about Robbie snowing. And clearly, he's the minor leagueer to be most excited about right now with this opening in the Marlins rotation. But I'm not. I'm not sure he's as good as his Triple A numbers suggest. At least the ERA and the K rate would suggest. So I have some hesitation there. Still, obviously, the top minor leagueer to roster.
