Speaker 1Shut up and sit down. Welcome to Being On Stage, the only podcast that gives you motivation, inspiration, and confidence to be better on stage. No matter how you entertain, sing, dance, band, comedian, public speaking, MC, drag, burlesque, performance art, or street performer, this is the show for you. Hey, rock stars. Reggie Dawson here, your host of the Being On Stage podcast. Welcome back, and in case I haven't said it enough lately, thank you. Thank you for tuning in and checking out the show. I greatly appreciate it. Hey, if you haven't done so yet, could you actually go into iTunes and leave a five-star rating and a comment for the show? I would appreciate it, and it would really help other people find a show. Could you do that today for me? I mean, we could wait for tomorrow. But let's. Let's be real. You know, we don't really know what's going to happen tomorrow. We give a lot, a lot of value to tomorrow. I'm guilty. I'm probably one of the biggest procrastinators in the world, especially when it comes to cleaning, organizing, things like that. It's not really my thing, not my forte. You can ask my wife. She will be the first to tell you that I am not a cleaner. I'm not an organizer. I'm one of the people. I'm actually. You know, the typical. I'm a typical man. I walk through the house, and she'll say, you know, Babe, I want to straighten up today. And I say, yeah, yeah, you know, sure, sure. Walk through the house, and I can't find a thing that needs to be cleaned. Meanwhile, she's running around like a crazy person, like, you know, her parents are coming over or something. And she's finding all this stuff to clean. I just don't. I just don't see it. So, you know, to me, I'm like, eh, there's not much to be done. We can just do it tomorrow. Tomorrow, I'll, you know, I'll clean off my desk tomorrow. I'll straighten off my. I'll mop the floor tomorrow. We give a lot of value to tomorrow. I'm there with you. I am. I'm right there with you. But let me ask a question, you know. Are you really ready for what could happen tomorrow? I mean, let's think about this, you know. Of course, something terrible could happen. Knock on wood, God forbid. This is not what I'm about. Let me back up a little bit. My name again, Reggie Dawson. I'm a stage performance coach. I'm a performer. I'm an emcee. Most recently, I'm a beard enthusiast. Yes, I said beard. B-E-A-R-D. I love my beard. But anyways, this podcast, I built it for performers. All types of performers at all different levels. I believe we all have something to learn, something to grow from. And I'm just here to share the things that I've picked up along the way and that I continue to pick up from other great entertainers that I study and follow and emulate, really. And again, thanks for tuning in today. Because tomorrow, who knows? So, again, I'm not going a negative way with this. I'm not saying, oh, you could be hit by a bus tomorrow. Yeah, it could happen. It could absolutely 100% happen. Actually, just this week, you know, a terrible, terrible thing. A woman I work with was found, you know. She died. And it's a terrible thing that happened. I'm not going to get into the story. And I'm not trying to be doom and gloom. So, yeah, terrible things happen every day. But great things happen every day, too. And I think that it's huge. And as human beings, I mean, and yes, this show is about performing. Just go with me here. As human beings, you know, we fear the worst. We prepare for the worst. And really, if I walked up to you, if I was just some stranger. I mean, I am a stranger. You don't know me from Joe. If I walked up to you just randomly, middle of the day, you're on lunch, you're eating. Maybe you're eating down at the bistro by the water. Maybe you don't have water. Whatever. I walk up to you and I say, hey, listen. One of two things is going to happen tomorrow. There is either going to be this terrible, terrible global catastrophe that wipes out over half the population of the earth, or you're going to have the opportunity of a lifetime to perform on the biggest stage of your life. That's your two things. Global catastrophe, opportunity of a lifetime to be on the biggest stage that you'll ever be on, ever. Which one are you going to prepare for? Be honest. Be 100% honest with yourself. Which one are you more apt to prepare for? If I told you it was one of those two things, I'm not going to tell you which one. No, that spoils the fun. I mean, come on. I've got to get a little fun out of this. I've got to get a kick. But I told you, global catastrophe in which you and all your loved ones could die and just be wiped out, or opportunity of a lifetime, which one are you going to prepare for? Most people are going to prepare for the worst. Most people are going to go into panic. They're going to go into panic mode, survival mode, like just crazy, ravenous savages. Most people. Then you have those people. They're usually optimists. They don't fear the worst. Because you know what? They look at the worst and they say, you know what? I'm going to find an opportunity in this. Those people, the ones that prepare for the better, that's the person you need to be. Because here's the deal. Let me just pump this other question. Since we already got the wheels turning, we already got the juices flowing, we already got you thinking. Let me just throw another question out there. Would you be ready for your dreams to come true tomorrow? I mean, really, maybe you've been performing for a while. Maybe you haven't even started yet. But would you be 100% ready if your dreams were coming true tomorrow? Think about that. I wouldn't. I don't think I would. I don't, I probably, well, I mean, I'd have a freak out. I'd scramble. I think ultimately I could get ready. But that would change how. I spend my day today. If I knew that my dreams were coming true tomorrow, if I knew that tomorrow I was going to have 10 coaching clients all call me up and want to fly me all over the country to come coach them to improve their stage performance and just explode on stage and connect with their audience. If I, if I knew that was going to happen tomorrow, I would spend today completely differently. And I think everybody would. If I told you, I mean, acrobats, you know, acrobats, if I told you that you were going to be performing with Cirque du Soleil tomorrow or. Jugglers, acrobats, any, any kind of circus singers, if I told you that you were going to be performing at Madison Square Garden tomorrow, if I, if I told you you were going to be on this huge stage performing all, just all you, maybe you're in Las Vegas. It doesn't matter. If I told you that was happening to you tomorrow, would you be ready? And what would you do today? That's the important question here. If your dreams came true tomorrow, how would you spend today? Now here, I'm going to flip it one more time. And this is where we really get into the. The motivation, the inspiration and, and really what I'm all about for, for performers. Any day of the week, this opportunity could happen. You know, this opportunity I'm talking about your dreams coming true. This can happen any day of the week, any day could happen tomorrow. It could happen today. It could still happen today. Unless it's like 11:59 PM where you're at right now, it could still happen today. We should be spending every single day, more importantly, every single performance. We should treat every day and every performance and every rehearsal as if tomorrow our dreams were coming true, we were going to get that phone call that opportunity of a lifetime to be on that stage that we have dreamed about being on. It doesn't matter where it is. Listen, it doesn't matter where that stage is, how big that stage is. It doesn't matter if you've dreamed that it's happening and if you treated today, like that was happening tomorrow, your career would skyrocket. My, you would have no problem finding bookings, getting bookings, being paid for what you do. You'd have no problem connecting with your audience because you put everything into it today. You would put everything into that next show. If you knew a phone call was coming the next day, that's how you have to treat it. That's how you keep progressing. That's how we move. That's how we move forward. That's how we keep growing. That's how we have to live our lives. Yeah, true. You may not have tomorrow. But you may have an amazing tomorrow. Don't you want to be ready for it? Don't you want to be ready for that opportunity when it finally does come knocking? Because if you're sitting around, if you're putting it off and you're saying, I'll practice tomorrow, you know, you're putting it off. You're not ready. You're not going to be ready. I challenge you. This is your challenge. This is your call to action. Attention, all rock stars. I'm cupping my hands. I challenge thee. Live every day. Treat every rehearsal. Treat every performance as if your dreams are coming true tomorrow. And if you want more Being On Stage, you can catch me inside the Facebook group, the Being On Stage group. How original.
