Thinking for Yourself: AI, Truth, Information and the Health of How We Think with Mohamed Nabil

In this episode of the Everyday Health Struggle podcast, the host interviews Mohamed Nabiou, an author and community development advocate, about his innovative approach to AI, critical thinking, and societal communication. Mohamed introduces AI-DLP, a framework where AI challenges and debates his own publications publicly, allowing readers to see arguments and counter-arguments rather than a single thesis. He explains that this fosters transparency and reduces dogmatism, as he doesn't claim to monopolize truth. The conversation explores "enlightened populism," a behavioral pattern of communication that encourages listening to multiple experts, investigating information, and seeking truth, in contrast to blind elitism and ignorant populism. Mohamed emphasizes that disagreements, when handled respectfully, can lead to growth and learning, both personally and professionally. He also addresses the impact of information overload and misinformation, suggesting that while overload is manageable, misinformation is more dangerous, and recommends using private browsing, multiple search engines, and engaging AI in opposing debates to avoid echo chambers. His advocacy extends to establishing a unified global government with hyperlocal assemblies to ensure basic human rights like shelter, food, education, healthcare, and internet access. The episode concludes with quick-fire questions, where Mohamed advises reducing social media reliance, seeking information proactively, recognizing that one's views aren't always truth, and incorporating moments of silence for mental health. Overall, the discussion underscores the importance of critical thinking, balanced communication, and maintaining mental well-being in a fast-paced digital age.

Hello everyone and welcome back to another episode of the Everyday House Drug Report cast. This is the show where we have honnest conversation about health, wellbeing, personal growth, society and the everyday challenges that affect how we live and think as a human being. Today I'm connected or I have Mohamed Nabiou on the show with me today. Mohamed is an author, a community development advocate and a creator of AI-DLP, which stands for AI debates on one's publications. His approach is quite unusual yet insightful. Instead of simply acting AI to agree with him, Mohamed acts AI to challenge and create society's own idea and he publish the conversation so people can examine the argument for themselves. He's also the person behind the idea of enlightened pop-pop-lism. We should describe as an alternative to blindly following experts or simply following popular opinions and trends. His work raises some fascinating questions about truths, critical thinking, artificial intelligence, social media and how we decide what to believe. Mohamed, welcome to another episode of the Everyday House Drug Report cast. Thank you for hosting me and thank you for the woman's reaction. Yeah, really, really, it's a very pleasure having you here on the show today. Okay, so Mohamed, I would love to ask you what was the inspiration behind your creates and AI debates on one's publications. Well, AI-DLP or AI debates on one's publications is a content creation framework that involves a content creator, prompting an AI tool to size their own content and publishing the entire and add to the transcript of back-and-forth argumentation within 24 hours of the exchange. It may have a revolutionary impact within publishing, education, policy-making, humanities and social sciences. Yeah, before realizing its revolutionary impact, I created AI-DLP so I can handle conversations around my own books and essays. My own ideas, I believe, were worth exploring, but worth having debates around them. So I used AI tools to start these debates before human beings can start their own debates on my own books and ideas. This way, human beings can have a better starting point. Instead of simply presenting a theory or a thesis of mine, I'm presenting a theory or a thesis along with a set of arguments and counter-arguments around them. Okay, that's very, very wonderful. So basically, you created something that can help you critique your work. For you to know where you already have flaws, even before it's been introduced to people, right? So, most of the content has been introduced to people before the AI-DLP sessions. I'm not using it privately behind closed doors. I'm using it openly to publicly provide arguments and counter-arguments related to my own ideas. I don't monopolize the truth and I'm not claiming that I monopolize the truth. I'm changing the relationship between authors and readers. Instead of simply providing one argument, I'm providing a certain theory and a set of arguments and counter-arguments around them. Okay, that's very interesting. Just to point out something that I believe from my own understanding. Yes, encouragements is good, but sometimes we, as human beings, tend to grow and innovate ourselves from critiques. Yes, that. From my own understanding, please correct me from wrong. We tend to grow from critique. We tend to grow back. We tend to improve ourselves. Encouragement is good as well. Encouragement makes you really, really know that yes. You are doing something good. So, for you to actually see the limits or phrase, I don't know how strong you are, is when you've been faced by negative comment. There's a way you're actually building something. And if you see yourself being able to overcome it, you instantly become so, so, there's a form of development that comes with being critique and overcoming it and improving on yourself. So, I must be honest with you, I love this whole concept with AI/DOP. It's really, really lovely and interesting. Okay, I have the last question for you right now. So, you talked about enlightened populism. So, please, can you tell us what does that even word mean in simple terms? I qualified enlightened populism as a behavioral pattern of communication back in 2020. Enlightened populism is a behavioral pattern of communication that involves listening to multiple experts trying to understand how they reach certain conclusions and investigating the information to discover the truth. So, it contrasts with the two dominant behavioral patterns of communication in today's world, blind elitism, which entails blindly following an expert or an elite on a certain issue, and ignorant populism, which also involves the absence of investigation or relying on feelings or trends. I believe the way I could find these three behavioral patterns of communication is that blind elitism and ignorant populism are viewed as toxic behavior patterns of communication that may lead to various wrong assumptions about society and about the issues within it. Enlightened populism is the healthy alternative that I'm providing. Because here on the everyday health struggle, it means that our audience knows that you can say you're healthy if in your communication you are 40 years. Because I'm not talking about health. And on the everyday health struggle, it tends to see health from points of probabilistic perspective. So, for you to really see I'm healthy, you have to also be physically sound, mentally, emotionally and most importantly, socially. And in the concept behind elitism, not just helping communication, but to prevent everyone from ascension and bringing truth into our communication and understanding of ourselves, the society and how we interact as a human piece is a very interesting concept. That's really lovely to know. That's lovely to know. Okay. I just want to ask a question also on what you said about elitism. So, what are your opinions about disagreement? Are every disagreement or can it disagreement be seen as healthy or in every disagreement on healthy? Disagreement is the typically healthy depending on who's disagreeing with whom and how they are handling their disagreement. I think even within AI/DUP, you can agree to disagree on certain points with the AI tool. And I believe you can do the same with human beings when you handle debates with them in case of the disagreement on certain issues. Typically when you disagree with someone, if you handle a good debate, if you handle an insider debate, you can both benefit from it. You can both gain insights from each other on the issues being debate. So, instead of loudly arguing against each other, we can learn from each other. And at our best, we can be a species of truth seeking because we are best developed to do that. Okay. Okay. That's very, very interesting. I love what you said that we can actually learn from each other. And we can also disagree to agree that I'm a person. I believe that when two people have a conflict, when I mean conflict, when two people have disagreements, and first they can handle it in my short way. It gives them room for growth. I'll use myself as an example. My birth friend right now, I think three years ago, we had a serious disagreement. But that disagreement gave us room for growth in the sense that we were able to understand each other's boundaries. And we're able to work and amend those limitations we both had. And that gives us room to improve. And since then we had growth. But if maybe we didn't have that disagreement, it wouldn't have led us to grow. So I don't know if I'm making sense to what you said, Mohammed, but that's one of the reasons I defined having a disagreement held you. But it will only be held you number one. If you can grow with eight and two, how you actually handle it. Do I? Do I? Do I? making sense there Mohammed? Yes it makes much sense thank you for training that example in our personal relationships we may have our professional relationships we may have disagreements from time to time and the best way to handle it is as you said to see God from these disagreements to try to understand how the other person is thinking and how the other person is trying to communicate and try to act accordingly when I when I qualified enlightened populism as a behavior pattern of communication I thought the very basic level of communication is flawed that's why I thought that I started that I started the basics and tackle that level of communication in today's world so I believe it's all a matter of communication from the first perspective then we can build up on it our own beliefs and views okay okay that's very very interesting that is very wonderful okay now let's go to another dimension of the Christianity so Mohammed our our love to acts so my Christian goes like this so we are constantly being exposed to an incredible and insane amount of information every day because obviously we are in the AIH we're going to use that word so can information overload or being exposed to a lot of information affects our mental well-being I believe the more the more information the better the as human beings who can process information quite efficiently but the main issue here is how to handle information misinformation and disinformation altogether in the same pot so you have one when you're dealing with the social media for instance it relies on your historical data of interactions within the platform so it ends up creating a state of of confirmation bias even social engines and alarm can turn into equal chambers if not used wisely as they both rely on historical data of interactions the best way to handle this is to use private incremental mode occasionally while submitting queries through multiple search engines and digging deep for multiple sources same goes for alarm is with the additional feature of intentionally getting into a debate with the alarm by prompting it to take a position opposing to yours so the best way to handle our own understanding of the world right now is to seek more information but to seek the right information seek the positions that are opposing to ours and try to understand why these people develop these positions that are opposing to our own and this way we can over-tile become better to seek it okay thank you that's very very interesting I'm very interested to see the right thing for me and this is very important seeking the right information is going to do you more good than information is everywhere nowadays or the most important is how what exactly becomes your name yeah agree with you then so seek information out on what's right to give you a balanced table mental health because I believe if you can consume what's right what's as productive to you it's going to also put you intellectually and every facet of your life when you consume negativity and based on how life is the negative tends to do more corrupt or influences or stains with you more than the good so seek the right information today okay so Mohammed from your profile it says that you are advocate for basic necessities such as food education, clean water, health care, sheta as well as human rights so may I ask why are you really really interested in all of this why is all this important to you I just advocate for your country or where you stay or are you trying to spread it to like every inch and corner of the world I'm advocating for the establishment of a unified global government to be ruled by hyperlocal citizen assemblies and this unified global government can introduce shelter access to clean water and food education, health care, freedom of expression, freedom of movement and state state speed internet connections as basic human rights so as for shelter and access to clean water and food they are long overdue and they should have been introduced in the past as basic human rights as for educate same goes for education and health care especially if you're asking people to become enlightened populists they need proper education and they need to stay healthy as for freedom of expression and freedom of movement they have to do with our feeling of being incarcerated in various regions around the world various fragmented missions so and for interstable speed internet connections I believe people must be must have the tools of the 21st century to be capable of solving the problems of the 24th century okay okay okay that is very very interesting to know I agree to you love that even during first century we as as as a human race we need the best of the best are trying to navigate every holds life right now everybody needs that on comfort best of education to remain sound and focus in the everyday life that we face because that's the also the truth the life the world right now is moving very very fast and to move with it on such a fast trend you also have to you also have to be in a situation where the basics the importance the the needs the necessities of life shouldn't be a problem for you it shouldn't be a problem for you those shouldn't be where your focus should be it should be readily available just like how we have for instance we as human beings currently now if you are a healthy human being oxygen isn't an issue for you you are you are not bothered about oxygen so I believe that is that is the perspective at which you you see all of this moving fast-paced world and a lot is the the basic necessities of life including education it shouldn't be factors it shouldn't be problems it shouldn't be what we have to point that day and names on how to acquire and that is very very interesting to hear from you oh Mohammed he fight going to my the moment okay yeah yeah yeah that's that's wonderful that's really wonderful to hear okay um Mohammed I would love to ask you so can lean to pose before reacting help us manage stress and make healthier decisions in life learning to pose before reacting yeah learning to pose before reacting is very healthy and and an efficient way to handle our daily interactions yet sometimes you don't have the time to pose sometimes you need to act quickly and this might be problematic in certain circumstances so learning to pose is generally healthy if if you ask me a question now and as we are having a relaxed conversation I may pose for a couple of seconds and then respond to you but if an incident happens on the street and someone is trying to take away one of your stuff and run away with it you you'll probably need to act quicker and start running after them okay okay okay okay that is very very interesting to know okay so I just want to actually describe quick so how does critical thinking help us avoid making emotional decisions that could negatively affect our lives critical thinking helps us in various ways it's about understanding the world around us and how everything operates so at our best we don't eliminate emotions totally we have some level of emotion and attachment whether we like it or not yet we we need to understand how things are operating around us in the world before making a proper decision and the best way to handle our own emotions is to make these emotions based on evidence as well As you learn more about certain issues, as you learn more about something, you can align your own emotions with the logic. You can align your own emotions with the logical point of view that you have generated. So critical thinking can help you stay as a human being, stay in a state of cognitive conscience. You can have your own views coming up from your own mind and supported by your own emotions. Okay, okay. Today's news. I'm basically trying to say that and it can make you be objective, right? Yes, we can seek objectivity as human beings. We can seek objectivity as much as we can. There will always be limitations and there will always be some sort of a struggle to become 100% objective towards any issue, especially the issues that you care about the most. Yet seeking objectivity is something nice, something good to do. Okay, okay, very interesting. Okay, so Mohammed, this has been a wonderful discussion on some of the useful and wonderful ways we can actually use AI to actually give us a double of what I mean, double to actually help us in thinking. As Mohammed said, we are still going to have our own form of thinking, but it gives room to other ideas. It gives room to prevent a form of dogmatism. Yeah, I'm going to put it that way. So Mohammed, this has really, really been a lovely conversation with you. But before we wrap things up, I would love us to do some recap with fire questions. So are you ready? We actually agreed that posing was good. So now you're switching to quick fire questions? Yeah, yeah, yeah. So just give me an answer, a quick answer for each of the questions. I'm going to ask you, right? Now, yeah, that's super easy. Don't worry. Okay, okay. We can do that. The first one. Okay, one team, people should stop consuming for their mental well-being. They shouldn't stop it at all, but they should reduce their reliance on it. It's social media. Social media. Okay, I agree with you along that. Okay, so one thing people should consume more for their mental health. They should consume it more. Yeah, the, the, the pool strategy, the pool strategy of gaining insights from search engines and. Instead of having the information thrown at them from social media platforms and news websites. Okay, okay, okay, okay. That is basically fuel time, the information we consume right using that strategy, using that pattern. Yes. Interesting. Interesting. Okay. Now, I would love to ask you this. So what is more dangerous means information on information overload. Misinformation is more dangerous. Information overload can be handled in a matter of time. As you have time, the global government that I'm seeking to establish shall reduce working hours. Allowing people to have more time and energy to investigate into multiple issues and practice enlightened populism. So information overload won't be a series problem, but misinformation is all the series problem. Okay, okay, okay. So I would love to ask you now, what's one habit that makes a person a better tinker? Realizing the fact that their own views and beliefs aren't always 100% truth. Realizing the fact that they don't have a monopoly on the truth and they can always seek the truth as well. Okay, okay. I love that. I love that. No more dogmatism. I'm going to realize that your own opinion isn't 100% valid all the time. Okay, that is wonderful. Okay, so one word that describes a healthy mind to you. One word that describes a healthy mind to you. Integrate. Integrate. That is wonderful. That's wonderful. You're doing well. Okay, last but not least, what gives you hope for humanity? The love of wisdom, which is philosophy. If you describe that way, philosophy is the love of wisdom and we all practice philosophy on one level or another. We all love wisdom, even if you don't say the word for us. Okay, okay. And I said that was the last but not the least, but I think this quickly came. So I'm going to ask you. So this is the last question for you right now. So if you could give everyone one mental health habit, what would it be? Take a few moments of silence and then get them into your everyday life. Okay, okay. That is wonderful. I love when you use the word your everyday life. That's lovely. That's lovely. So Mohammed, thank you so much for sharing your insight. This has really, really been lovely. And this episode isn't simply just about AI to be honest. It's about our mental health as well. Stress, healthy decision making and communication and information overload. And also how you can better yourself in this digital world, relating in the digital world, and also keep maintaining that you are a human being. So once my game Mohammed, thank you so much for sharing your insights, your wisdom, your experience and your perspective on today's episode of the Everyday Health Struggle podcast. Thank you for hosting me. It has been a great episode. You're wonderful. Okay, so Mohammed, before we actually call it a day, if you have a website, please share it to my audience and reach out to you. My website is Mohammed Nabil, that's right. I'm all H-A-M-E-D and A-B-I-L. W-O-R-L-D. It would be helpful if you can add it to the show notes. Okay, wonderful. So everybody look at the show notes, the links to Mohammed website will be dropped there. Everybody who was listening to this episode, remember your health is very, very important. Don't be afraid to change your mind when better information comes along. Remember what I said, your own opinions, it's not always valid all the time. Don't wait. Don't be dogmatic and don't confuse confidence with truth. They are two different things. You can have a lot of confidence and be speaking out bullshit. So don't confuse confidence with truth. This has been another episode of the Everyday Health Struggle podcast. Remember, stay well, take care of your mind, protect your thoughts and always strive to grow. And I will see you in the next episode of the Everyday Health Struggle podcast. Bye for now.
