It's his first season and his second game of the season and this is the situation as he's playing army and they're coming back in the game, but at the end of the game, they're down three with 20 seconds left. They've got fourth and sixth and they've got Grammatica as their kicker and he's one of the best kickers that there is and most coaches, I dare say, all coaches are going to try the 50 yard field goal with Grammatica to tie if they've got one play for the game and they're down three, but he goes deep and he converts it and he wins the game and it was cruel to our armed services. Because they had to stand on the field by obligation and sing their alma mater after they had been totally stunned. They were sitting there singing their alma mater and I believe that Brian Hartline, while Ballsy, also, on American. And Nico Grammatica in week one against FIU, I think he was four for four, had a 50 plus yard field goal. He's right. Yeah. I have to Google to make sure that's the same Grammatica. I think it is because there's like 17 of them. It is. You think? And he's been there for a long time. He had a bomb against Miami. That one. He's excellent. He's one of the best kickers in the country, but we're going to talk to Brian Hartline about that later because I really did think it was a Ballsy call to do that on the road. And you had soldiers and servicemen on the field stunned and weeping while singing their alma mater because of how it is that they had been beaten. You guys mentioned earlier, do you guys watch or have any of you, are you familiar with the ancillary characters in the Flintstones, any of them because you mentioned Wes Welker and the oversized helmet. And the thing I think of there is the great gazoo from the Flintstones on the oversized helmet. He was part of the Flintstones? Yeah. He was one of the ancillary characters. I've got a number of observations exclusive to this show about football, college, and pro, and number 25. And I hate to say this and I fear saying it out loud because it's blasphemous. I think it might be time to take the keys away from Bradshaw on the highlights, just on the highlights. We can't have it. I love it because you never know what's going to happen. He's like, all right. We're going to go out here. But he just doesn't know the names of some of the people involved. He struggled so much yesterday with Stephanski. He just. There's a lot of names out there, Dan. I know. Look, I know. I know, you know. I do know. And I'm not trying to be cruel on this. I'm not. I swear. Okay. But he should have never been doing the highlights. There are any number of things he can be doing. The highlights do not need to be one of them. But yesterday, because he couldn't come up with Stephanski, he eventually just gave up and said, help me somebody. He eats, he eats things, but got halfway through it like three or four times on the Steph, on the Steph and then he was just like, help me. So I'm just saying it might be time. It might be time. It might be time to take the keys away from Bradshaw. Number 24 here is, I believe we're very close to being able to make the argument that Deshan Watson is the worst contract in the history of sports. Because of how it locks you up against the salary cap to have that much money tied up in somebody who, when you guarantee that kind of money, you have to guarantee that the performance is going to be good. And what happened to Cleveland yesterday is that they announced to everybody, oh, should doors not any good either, and we don't have any kind of future this year. And Jacksonville is likely to be very talented and very good. But Deshan Watson went out there and they were never in that game from the very start. Todd Monkin gave this like super impassioned speech to the media after the game. I'm here to win. I'm doing what's best for the team. I don't care when anybody else thinks outside, but I think Deshan Watson's got one more game. I think he's got one more game because they're on the road again next week. And then they're home for their opener in the third game. I can't imagine a scenario where Watson is awful two games to start the season. The fan base is already super angry that it wasn't sugar. And then you're going to keep starting Watson in the home opener. It feels like this is it for Watson in week two. It feels like it was immediately the worst contract the moment he signed it. We were like, oh, really? You're going to give that to that guy. I don't think so. You don't think so? I mean, people were saying that because like, oh, he might be garbage, might be a piece of garbage. But two years. There wasn't any real reason to believe that he wasn't still going to be a good quarterback. We had debates on this show. We were like, he's a good player. This is a tough decision because of the moral stuff. Yeah. We didn't know he was bad until he got to Cleveland. Yeah. There's no way that we should be watching him five years after getting to the Browns. And we're watching one of the worst QBs in the league. The worst contract him or Anthony Rindon, who seven years, one's a cap sport. The other one's right. It's a bad person, guys. They signed him and then lost Shohei Otoni in part because they signed him. And then Mike Trout never went to the playoffs. Seven years, $245 million, he played 257 games. What are we talking about? It's not even close. I mean, it's not close. It's not even close. But that's a bad deal. I'm glad Riley. Probably don't forget Chris Davis. It's a salary cap sport, though, and you cannot have this kind of money spent on someone who can't play without it short circuiting everything. But you can assemble a decent argument that they're not only is in the middle of their huddle, the worst contract in the history of sport. It's also a short circuiting unlike any we've ever seen in sport because this is still a young quarterback. And the reason that people were making the arguments on him being still good is because of that youth. So you can make the argument that everything that happened to him and with him and because of him off the field, short circuited him on the field. Like just totally made someone who used to be good no longer be good. And it had very little to do with football. And while Rendon did crap on the sport of baseball, he kind of largely left the customer base out of it. On top of that, this guy has made you lose fans and he goes directly at the existing fans you still have that have gone through hell, which kind of makes it even more pathetic that monk and went with him. Like I know Rex Ryan went on this whole tangent on ESPN. yesterday that if I was the coach after I heard that press, and you rarely hear a coach in the media talk about a corner coach that way where he would have cut him right then in there. You would put Ben Simmons next to Watson, right, as far as young player, really good big money short circuiting, right? I mean, Markel Foltz as well. I mean, the Sixers had some of those, but, and yes, also very important, but just what this does to you in football, if you give that much money at that position to the quarterback and then you kind of kind of got to keep playing him to make sure that you haven't just wasted the money and you're just throwing good money after bad because everything there is short circuited from the center of their huddled to the quarterbacks of a brain because of everything that happened off of the field to the entirety of their team and blueprint and future. But like, Shadour must think, right? I mean, he's young also, and he's early in his development, but I would say yes, Shadour can't really play, and he is more of an avatar for certain things, which brings me to number 23, which is lower than I would have thought. It's Dion Sanders speaking in tongues. Come myself down, let's go to play on for me. What do you mean it's a play on for you, what do you play? It sounds a little bit like Spanish. Biblical scholars have said that this is nothing but gibberish, but I also think of speaking tongues as being gibberish. That's kind of the point, you're praying in the spirit. What if he was a different religion? Less of a play on people, an important conversation, I'm glad we were here. What about us, and there was weird, but okay. Let's go ahead and play that sound again so that we can see how this press conference started with Dion Sanders. I don't know how to feel and I don't feel comfortable talking about it, I'm team, I don't like it. You don't like what, talking about it or you don't like playing it or you don't like that it exists in the world and it started a football press conference, that one. I've been seeing the bad news for eight years. Number 22 for me is, I believe that Hollywood Smothers is the best name in college football. It's great. Put it on the poll at Levitard Show, is Hollywood Smothers the best name in college football? Better if he was a corner. Agreed. Can you imagine Hollywood Smothers, corner one, I can imagine it. Just shut down German Smothers. A couple of good names. I think the packer's a field goal kicker is like, Tray Smack, Tray Smack. He makes three pointers and he's smacks a ball. Yes, but not quite as clean as the sentence that is the name Hollywood Smothers, which is very close to the better sentence, Chase Brown, which is what you're doing when he's in your sentence. That's a good one too. That's when their sentence is, when the names are sentences, it's wonderful. Down Levitard. For five minutes, I was watching everyone just like, nope, not letting you in, not letting you in. So when I got up there, I had to say something and I said it. Cheaters never prosper. Chris Cody. My buddy was saying not today. Yeah, but you're trying. Okay. I think that was what he was adding. Yeah. That's so much better. I'm telling you, the response I got from this guy, what I said was amazing. I like it. This guy yelled as angry as he could, I'm cheap. I want to get into with you guys, though, the Texas Ohio State game because it hasn't happened in 15 years where a team of any kind ends a game with 21/4 points and all of the drives are 12 plays or more. And before that fourth quarter, everybody was ready to write off Archmaning for the season and for his career. You do that twice on the big stage against Ohio State to come back in that game. It's awesome. Just unbelievable to come back that way in that game when it seemed like Texas did not belong on the same field with Ohio State. It was a blueprint game for not only Archmaning, but for Steve Sarkisian too, like they always lose those kind of games. And at 23 to three, we're looking around going, all right, I guess this is over. Like the Georgia games in the past, two huge, four down conversions like fumbles that went their way. Like everything just ended up going the right way. In this field goal, which kept them alive at the end. That game was that fourth quarter was so awesome. And it really is what you love about college football because it wasn't some underdog. It wasn't some, you know, unranked team that beat Ohio State. This is the fourth ranked team in the country. This, this the team that is now number one in the country. This is a really good Texas team. And you still got all of that emotion from Archmaning running on the field with the helmet off and yelling and celebrating. Like I said, this was an upset only in the sense that it's like, all right, they beat the number one team in the country, but this is still number four ranked Texas. And to still be able to have that type of emotion after they won that game was so cool. You don't get that in the NFL, it was, it was such a great watch. And just to be clear, number 21 for Dan is the Archmaning stuff. I'm going to get lost somewhere and I don't want to be beholden to this list. They are ranked in order. They may be more than 25, 30, 35, I'm going to try to get to them all. You also had 225. So really this is number 20. Yeah. Yeah. Please. No, but forgive me because the list is a bit of a mess. Also during that Texas game, I believe it. I saw Chris Cody. Now, a lot of people were saying this in my mentions. It was not me going shirtless when they won the game. I saw Ricky Williams at the game and then I saw Chris Cody at the game celebrating going crazy. Not me for the record. Man, you had fun. Bernie Robles. Is this the best Texas game since I don't have that hair line since Vince Young beat USC? Is this the best that Texas football has felt since Vince Young put on the performance of a lifetime against USC in the Rose Bowl? Because let's play the sound after the game. Holly Road tried to interview Steve Sarkiesian. It didn't go great. You want to go celebrate and you can understand why I started fired up. His team never gave up on real. Not much of an interview there where Holly Road rolled her eyes because Sarkiesian just gave the camera the hook of the horns or the peace out or I'm leaving didn't give her an interview and Holly Road rolled her eyes at Sarkiesian as he ran off the field. Best they felt since that classic Chick-fil-A bowl I think against a ASU with SCATABOO going off and having that game and everyone thought Texas was back back. Oh, but that didn't put them at number one beating Ohio State and announcing to everyone after three quarters of writing Archmaning off like it's not just that they won. That's the way they won because winning impressive enough but four three quarters that was a wild disappointment of a football game and speaking of disappointments something the college game day did in part of the amp up to get to that game wildly disappointing to me that ESPN would become a propaganda arm for a college sports act that they continue to just lobby for that is just going to put a cap on the money the labor can make again as there's no cap on the money the coaches can make they continue to want to figure out how it is to not save college sports to just keep the money away from the players in a way that has Ted Cruz on college game day he gets booed roundly booed and I've told you guys some of these stories Jimmy Pataro ESPN they told me that they were going to make a pivot to we just want to be about SEC football and they have they've done that they want the SEC football crowd. They don't want politics with their sports but they stuck it in the middle of game day with Ted Cruz and they're actively lobbying lobbying for something that benefits the adults and the television networks that would benefit ESPN and they've got Nick Saban out there lobbying on behalf of keep the costs down on the players with no limits on the cost on the coaches. Without mentioning the other side to it our show gets accused of being an echo chamber we at least have discussions on what the other side thinks not an echo chamber the the notion that there is a labor force here that is on represented is just totally skipped over and this is not a new thing for college game day dating back to last year Nick Saban has had his agenda and they've been carrying water for this and the other side has been totally ignored this year is different though Nick Saban who is now on paid ads for the save college sports act is obviously really behind this has complete buy-in from everyone on that set there's a new executive producer the reins are totally off and you have Ted Cruz who has said for months on end that he wants donald trump to sign this safe college sports act on college game day they are using one of the more popular cable sports television programs to further a political agenda now if you want to say the pushback is but if a democrat were behind it they'd also get the platform no because of a democrat would be behind it the labor would be represented a bit more and nix saven would not be behind this bill your way down on game day super down on game day the brand new producer i want to hear nix saven and curbshreet talk ball i want the same jovial stuff it is now going through someone else it feels like two guys that i want to hear from can't get a word in edge wise and when they do they focus on bull like this without even so much mentioning that there could be some pushback to it it's awful this season and if big new got their act together they could absolutely eat into this audience because i find myself watching big new more yeah the the big moments from game day so far these first couple weeks have probably not been what you want like you mentioned there Ted Cruz was the big moment this week and last week remember what the big moment was last week it was mac a fee and lane kiffin talking about everybody hates them like that was that was the big no super mahenty the designated survivor we all found that out together the super mahenty every every college game day is just in a closet somewhere in bristle in the event that there is like some sort of set change we also the kick for 1.2 million it's always the kick drilled the best the best part of college game day is always the field college game day needs a vibes guy pat maggot feed does that but part part of the reason why i'm down on the show is now it's now it's just vibes and when it's not vibes it's this conservative propaganda that is just totally not fair there is a reasonable discussion there's plenty of things in the save college sports act that i think are good there's also plenty of things that i think need to be bargained from both sides and to just present Nick save inside which is just trying to ran this thing through and take advantage of the labor and cap the amount of money that they can make is wholly unfair and irresponsible by ESPN i'm going to say this for the third times as those so that people understand the professionalization of what's going on with minor league football okay once you start paying the students five million dollars to do something they're no longer students they're making more than most people will make in their entire lifetime in a single season and once that's in play it must be collectively bargain and this thing is limiting the way the labor gets to collectively bargain so while most people listening this don't much care about the details of the college sports act and it's going to end up working that Nick Saban as a voice for this is going to be the propaganda arm that ends up lobbying for this when it's not about saving college sports and it's not about saving the student it's about making sure that the student can't make as much money because you're going to put more rules around it that allows the adults to continue to not have caps on the money that they make in a free market while you limit the players first and the idea that in the middle of your Saturday they are going that deeply political that a place that has a no politics policy puts Ted Cruz in the middle of it to get booed it's just unseemly and it's not something that should be done without any qualifiers without any sort of dilutions that present to you something on behalf of labor instead of everything that you see on the set is just the adults who are making plenty of money trying to limit how it is that the professionals in minor league football make money we know we're saving as compromised they've done a little bit better of a job in messaging that he is a part of this thing and it's unavoidable even in the commercial breaks we know us in here know how ESPN is compromised and how this serves as CFP rights holders and guys that are typically that are actually running the sport right now the CFP is actually running the sport who's behind it ESPN we know where they stand again in capping the labor without having a representative on that side but the viewer at home doesn't the viewer at home doesn't and they don't just like we can be told where ESPN is compromised and be acknowledged that there is a different side and you could be responsible and ESPN is not doing that and it's a weird thing for a show that it represents historically in a political nature they have picked a side here and what's worse is they're not telling you they've picked a side they're not even telling you that there is another side how good is Jeremiah Smith though we'll talk to Brian Hartline about that in about 15 minutes as somebody who at least got this next job at usf because of how good Jeremiah Smith is he tried to get him to switch to usf down levitar if Daniel De Lewis did last year but they have 91 new starters think about that number 91 new players I should say not 91 new starters that's more than anyone in the country they they stunk so bad last year that they just fumigated the entire place and brought in 91 new players and they beat Oregon when that was the worst of the big division one programs by a mile that I watched last year how did they lose 12 straight FBS games like Mike Gundy just drove them into the like just wasn't trying anymore 12 straight FBS games they became the first team ever to have a double digit losing streak and they snapped it by beating a team ranked in the top 10 what was the score from last year when Oklahoma state went to Eugene it was one of the ugliest games you would see it's like an FBS versus an FCS opponent that's what the score was last year they killed the Oregon we said that they lost that Oregon lost Oklahoma state they basically lost the University of North Texas because that's where the bulk of these players came in that was an Oklahoma state team that got thoroughly handled by Colta 69 to three is what Oregon beat them by like Oregon stinks yeah and I'm not saying they got handled by my point that's my point that's my exclusive point I made the exclusive point that Oregon stinks Oregon stinks I said that already you can't that that's what I'm talking about Oregon stinks hey that's what I'm talking about I'm not saying that you know Tulsa handled Oklahoma state last year which they did no they handled them a week ago Oklahoma state kept their losing streak going because they lost to not sure either of those two teams are good Oklahoma and Michigan I was really impressed with Oklahoma they have so much talent that is they've turned Bryce underwear into a triple option quarterback I do think that was a nice ball but he had a bounce back in terms of like the things that he can help his team do what was the biggest surprise of the weekend though to you guys from college football it's got to be working really I think it's Texas it's dude they lost 63 to three to that 49 to three 69 to three they lost that team last year they brought in a bunch of north Texas mean 91 of them and that team lost a toll so last week I agree that that's it's shocking I picked the wrong big 10 team to be to drop out of the top 25 I did I said there's every year there is a top 10 preseason team that is going to drop out of the top 25 and everyone's going to get out of your angry I picked Ohio State I should have picked even the Ohio State's lost three out of the last four I should have I don't know if you guys have this with gambling, if I take Josh Allen to score touchdown, he never does. If I think about it and don't take it, he scores that can't be true because he scores a touchdown in every game every week. Like you can't, that can't be. He does it because I've taken that touchdown over a dozen. No, he scored a touchdown in every single game that he has played in, uh, in, in professional football because that's how you get to 82 rushing touchdowns. But I'm going to say it again, says, uh, how is it and why is it that the margins are so thin in this sport that Josh Allen makes the throw, right? It's, there aren't a lot of guys in the sport who have that arm, that accuracy that the throw that he made on the game, winning touchdown was a laser beam of total accuracy, but the play before that today was going to be talking about Josh Allen being reckless because he threw up straight up into the air into the end zone to Lasseter, a ball that Lasseter should had, he was trying to receive a punt and that play on his back, tough play for him. I mean, what do you mean on his back? He was standing up when the ball was there. He didn't go to his back until he dropped it like he wasn't on his back. The ball, I mean, I can't make that a lot easier for a professional athlete who's not clumsy to catch that football. The reason why these guys play corner and not receiver, the hands aren't there. Come on, though, man. By the way, Dan, really quick, Josh Allen is now tied for 20th most rushing touchdowns of all time with Frank Gore and Otis Anderson. What? Otis Anderson. I'm confused about that game, though, because CJ Strauss, I mean, he was, he was terribly in the game. Two sacks, last two plays, strip sack game over. But I don't understand how the bills allowed the Texans score 31 and I really don't understand how the Texans defense allowed the bills to do whatever they wanted all game. Like I get it, Josh Allen, but you set up one of the best defense. You said it. Like it's Josh Allen. Everybody just neutralized it's like, oh, you think you're really good at this? Watch me. I did not know until yesterday the rule that Jared Goff is throwing the ball behind the line of scrimmage, but because his arm is going forward, it is not a fumble. I'm watching that and I thought that was a fumble just because it was behind the line of scrimmage. I was confused by that. Absolutely, because if we're going to play the same game last year when Sam Donald threw the ball and it skipped off the helmet and that ended up being a fumble into the end zone for a score, how is this not a fumble? It's the same thing. It's the same exact thing. Doesn't matter if the ball's going backwards, forwards, you call that, you got to be consistent with calling that because that takes points off the board for the Saints in a huge moment. Number 17 of my unique only to this show observations is it wasn't just that Tyler Schock was great yesterday. It's when he was great. He scored on five of the last six possessions and the one he didn't score on. It was a 62-yard field goal to try and win the game in regulation and they just missed the 62-yard field goal. I'm now at the point where I expect those to go in, by the way, put it on the pole at Levittar Show, are you now at the point where you expect the 62-yard field goal to be made? Because I'm somehow at that point and I didn't think that it used to be that the Saints half-footed kicker. He didn't have half of his foot. I believe his name is Tom Dempsey, had the longest kick in field goal history at 63 yards. I now routinely expect that field goal to be made and I don't know what's wrong with me. That shouldn't be so. But when the college kickers miss, I like it when they miss. I hate how all these NFL kickers make every kick. I hate it. I don't like it. Dan, I had the same feeling. It's like, oh Carlson's gonna come in and drill this because people just drill 60-yard field goals now. All right, the Lions are going to lose and what a play by Schock in the second half, like it's over. But then when he hooked it, I was like, oh, some people are still mortal. What are your thoughts on that Saints Lions game? Because I feel like the Lions window is now officially closed. It feels like we're really close to confirming that it was a lot more Ben Johnson than Dan Campbell those years. It's really tough to defend Dan Campbell. Now these last couple of years, depending on how this season goes, yeah. Defense is tough. All right, Terry on Arnold. It's going to be a big piece of their secondary. Obviously. They've got two safeties out. Everyone's going to be able to throw on them early in the season. But you hope that your offense is just good enough to score more points. I think the Bears are kind of in a similar situation where I know they scored 59, but their defense led up 37 to a Panther team that's like kind of OK and not great. I'm willing to play the season out a little bit. I was really confused by that game because New Orleans looked god awful that first half. Terrible. And I was not having a Ben Johnson discourse at halftime. And then the second half took a wild turn, totally different game there. New Orleans might be good and it may change how I feel about how that game goes. I think what you see in the difference between Ben Johnson and Ju Petzek and how they're leading the offense is that in the second half, the Lions had a decent lead. They were kind of cruising, playing not to lose in Ben Johnson situation. He's going to score points every single time down. They started running the ball a lot. They started doing a lot of play action passes short to Lionel Scrimmage. I was like, I don't love what the Lions are doing. And then they just opened the door for a shock to come back. It's also what's difficult for Detroit in in parsing is at Ben Johnson. Part of the reason is Ben Johnson went to a division rival. They're in a division that appears to be really, really tough. So they're going to have a certain number of games that are against us or opponents at other teams and lesser divisions aren't. It feels like for the first time, maybe ever, the Bears are going to be good for a really long time. I will say again, because the defense is going to be an issue for them, but I will say this again when it comes to Caleb Williams and stability at the top positions with a quarterback of that kind of talent.
