The Week of September 21st, 2026: Shifting gears with the Equinox and the Full Moon
34m 32s
This week centers on the autumn equinox, a pivotal shift in the seasons and astrological cycles. For the northern hemisphere, it signals a deep inward turn, urging rest, reflection, and reconnection with inner needs—emphasized by Venus’ retrograde movement, which focuses on healing relationship wounds and reuniting with suppressed parts of the self. In the southern hemisphere, the energy shifts outward, promoting expansion and engagement. The full moon in areas, occurring after the sun changes signs, acts as a catalyst, making visible imbalances and inspiring action—especially in the face of injustice. This energy is amplified by the Saturn-Neptune conjunction, which highlights the tension between idealized dreams and harsh realities, echoing themes from 2026 and emerging in AI and virtual reality debates. Mars entering Leo adds drama and intensity, creating powerful oppositions with Pluto that signal leadership, conflict, and transformation. The week invites listeners to assess their personal alignment between vision and reality, to honor their emotions and rage, and to take meaningful, grounded action. While the full moon inspires bold moves, it also warns against overcommitment or energy dispersal. The overarching message is one of balance: integrating external activism with deep inner work to foster personal and societal healing. This period marks not just a seasonal transition but a profound, reflective, and transformative phase in the astrological year.
If I was to tell you, there was basically one season left in this year.
If I was to tell you, there was one last quarter of the year.
If I was to tell you, there was about 15 weeks left in the year, and that's it.
How would you feel? Would you be like, I feel so on track.
I feel like I'm spending my time in the ways that I want to, at least in the ways that I can.
I feel like I've been able to enjoy the moments of my life that I've wanted to show up for and be present to.
I feel like I'm giving my body and my mind the rest that it requires and that it needs.
I feel like I'm attuned to the changing of the seasons.
And I am about to go inward if you're in the northern hemisphere.
Or I'm about to go much more extroverted if you're in the southern hemisphere.
Hello and welcome.
This is the Astrology of the Week ahead podcast.
I'm your host, your Astro Bestie, Channie, Nicholas.
In this episode, we're looking at the week of September 21st.
Y'all, it is our favorite time of year.
It is Astro planner season.
And not only is this little ditty available in the United States and Canada.
This year, it's also available in the UK and Europe.
It sells out every single year.
Please get yours now before they go because they are bound to sell out, especially now that we
are able to get them to so many different places, which we worked so hard to do.
Thank you for being so patient.
I can't wait until this is in your hands across so many lands.
Okay, look, this is like 300 plus pages of activities.
We've got stickers as always. We have these gorgeous monthly pages that lay everything out
for you ahead of time.
We've also got like everything you need to celebrate each season of the year.
We have little rituals for you.
We have rituals for every new moon.
We have reflections for every full moon.
Basically, this is a way to just live out your year in accordance with the seasons.
But also in accordance with all of the astrology that 2027 is going to bring us.
And it is giving it to you in this very cute cowgirl unicorn motif.
There's like a DIY vision board in here.
There is a little note from your past self.
So one of the first things you can do is write a little note to yourself in the future from your past self.
But basically, every month, we've got activities for you.
We've got every murky, retrograde, of course.
And we've got a little tip and a little trick about how to use each and every astrological transit.
In the most practical, there I say grounded down to earth kind of way.
So grab yours now before they go because they will.
This is the week that the sun changes signs.
But not only does it change signs, we change seasons.
This is the equinox.
So whether you're in the northern hemisphere or the southern hemisphere,
this is that big shift, right?
We're in a moment of equal night and equal day.
If you're in the northern hemisphere, we are tipping towards the darkness.
And that means that we are being asked to go a little bit more internal each and every day
to really be able to like focus on the riches from within.
We need more rest.
We need some scarves around our throats.
We need more soup, more broths, more warm vegetables.
Do you know what I'm saying?
Like we need to be gathering our energy a little bit more.
This is our invitation to go inward.
This is our invitation to see what has been kind of like knocked out of balance
or just like what the tipping point is.
Like, okay.
In the northern hemisphere, we did summer.
We did it.
It was a lot.
It was very, you know, rocky.
It was wild.
Climate catastrophe brought on by the fossil fuel industry intentionally.
So is definitely here.
And now we're going to try to assemble some of what that means for us.
Gather our energy and also start to resource and nourish the like inner world
and our root systems and our interior selves.
This is a very important attunement.
And it's not all going to happen, of course, this week or on the day of the equinox.
But it is an important acknowledgement of like, okay, we did that big outer stuff.
Hopefully we had a lot of time with friends and family.
Hopefully we got to enjoy the things that we could.
And hopefully this is an invitation that we are really willing to take, to say yes to,
to say like, I accept, I accept the invitation to go inward a little bit at a time
until we move into the solstice.
Of course, if you're in the southern hemisphere,
hi, this is your invitation to move more externally.
This is your invitation to move outward.
This is your invitation to move into the light.
But no matter what hemisphere you live in,
the important thing to note is that as we move into Libra season,
the planet that rules Libra, Venus is currently in Scorpio
and is going to station Retrograde next week on October 3rd,
Venus is stationing Retrograde.
And that is a global invitation.
Doesn't matter which hemisphere you're in, that is a global invitation
to go on some sort of inward journey to reunite with an aspect of self
or an aspect of your experience that maybe has been left waiting, wanting,
needing your attention.
We're going to talk a lot about it as we start to move through the Venus Retrograde.
But I just wanted to say, this isn't any old Libra season
that throughout Libra season, Venus will be Retrograde for most of it.
And into Scorpio season, Venus will be Retrograde.
It'll be Retrograde for October 3rd to November 13th.
And this is a time period where we will be doing a lot of heavy lifting
around relationships and around justice,
around equality and equity and unions.
And our civil rights and everything that binds us together
and helps us to have relationships and connection with one another.
So we'll, again, be talking a lot about it in future episodes.
But I just wanted to say that this is no ordinary Libra season.
And this is no ordinary Spooky season either.
This is going to be a very deep and profound excavation
of some of the relationship dynamics and some of the situations
that really highlight why injustice occurs in our societies,
in our governments, in our communities.
And it's going to pronounce all of that repeatedly.
So it's not going to be just like a simple concise kind of moment.
It's going to be all of October and the first half of November at the very least.
But we're already feeling it because Venus is basically within a degree
of where it's going to station or retrograde next week.
So we're very, very close to that place of like,
"Okay, we're entering into this 40 days and 49th of retrieval of our energy
of coming to terms with some of the hardest aspects of our relationship issues."
But also the thing that we need to do to come back into balance.
And this week we're being asked like, "Okay, we did summer.
Now we're tipping into a different season.
What does my body need in this moment, in this season?
We need scarves, we need breath, we need soup, we need stews, we need warps."
And you know, even if you're in a hot climate,
we still need to be able to wrap ourselves up in some way shape or form.
If you're in the northern hemisphere, there is a need to go within.
And you'll start to feel that calling.
And again, I just think that this back calling is going to be more pronounced this year
than ever because of the Venus retrograde happening with this seasonal shift.
So there's something here for us to reclaim, to get to know,
to have a reunion with on a very deep internal level.
And that's where we do the work, right?
We do a lot of work outside.
And it's really important to show up and be very loud in the world about injustices.
And then there's the part of the work that only we can do in our own inner lives.
And that's the tending to our inner world, tending to the parts of us that need it the most.
Okay, so this is the week.
On Monday, we have some exceptionally helpful conversations.
And Monday, Mercury makes a sextile to Jupiter, which is really encouraging.
It's really great for gossip.
It's really great for getting big plans in order.
It's really great for expansive conversations and broadening our world view.
On Tuesday, we move into the Equinox, it's Libra season.
This is the end of the video.
This is our invitation to take stock.
This is our invitation to say, this is imbalance, this is out of balance, this is a relationship
I need to tend to, this is a relationship that's doing really well.
This is my output, this is the input, this is the work I have to do, this is the time
I'm going to set aside for my rest and recuperation.
This is the last season of the year, essentially, how do I want to spend it?
There are the things I have to do, there are my responsibilities that I have to tend to,
but in terms of the time that I have absolute control over, that I have agency over.
How do I want to spend that time?
What is it that I want to cultivate?
Who is it that I want to be with?
What kind of experiences do I want to make space for?
What does that mean in terms of scheduling things in so that my work or the demands of the
world don't railroad my best intentions?
How can I make sure that I am keeping space for the things that really feed and nourish
my internal world, my internal life and my interiority?
What is happening on the inside?
This is our invitation to look within, again, especially because Venus is about to station
retrograde. That's where our power is, that is where we are going to do the most important
work is on the interior kind of landscape at the moment.
Not that the exterior work isn't important, but I just want to really call us to attention
to hold both the interior and the exterior part of our lives in balance and see if like
you need to do a little bit more of the interior stuff just to get it in balance with the
exterior or vice versa.
That's our invitation this week.
On Friday, the sun makes an opposition with Neptune and a trine with Pluto, and this
is the setup that the full moon on Saturday is really going to pick up.
So, I haven't even mentioned the full moon.
We have a big, huge, full, fiery, feisty full moon in areas on Saturday.
This is going to kick off a lot of activity in our lives.
Because it's areas and that's the job of areas, but this is the equinox moon.
This is the full moon that's happening right after the sun changes signs.
And we know that the equinoxes and the solstices are times when the sun moves in to cardinal
signs.
This is the change of the season, so there's a lot of activity.
So, the sun moves into Libra and a couple days later, the full moon in areas happens.
This is an active full moon, this is an energetic full moon, this is a galvanizing full moon,
this is a full moon that's really loud and in our face.
So, whatever is in or out of balance is going to be very, very, very obvious this week.
The full moon is asking us to have the courage to move towards the things we need to move towards
in order to have a greater kind of equanimity in our life.
But also, it's not about just like being peaceful or keeping the peace.
I really want us to think about what we are being agitated into and that being in a state
of calm and equanimity all the time isn't what the moment calls for, right?
Like I want us to pay attention to that call to move towards a greater understanding of
our inner needs and our inner life and our inner landscape.
But I also don't want us to be pacifying ourselves into inactivity.
I want us to honor the ways in which we can be irritating and annoying and absolutely
catastrophic to the powers that be.
I want us to be always loud, obviously, in the face of injustice.
I don't want us to be like, "Oh, I'm so calm and cool and collected in the face of
a genocide."
I want us to be actively engaged with being a nightmare for those in power that are enacting
massive violence on our planet, on our cousins, brothers, sisters, selves, neighbors, all of
it.
I don't think that we should be using any ancient healing practice or any modern healing
practice to lessen our ability to be a wrench in the works of the machine that we are trying
to rage against.
So the full moon in areas is always going to be like, "This is what we're raging against."
The sun in Libra is like, "This is what's out of balance."
And the full moon in areas is like, "Okay, great.
Let's get spurred into action and be in the face of the thing that is creating this
harm or getting us out of balance, or the thing that is going to try to disrupt democracy,
let's say."
That's going to be one of the big lessons of this venous retrograde.
It's going to be one of the big lessons I think of this week.
I think it's going to be a very active weekend, so you don't have to have plans for it.
You don't have to do anything for it, but I really do want you to take a note of what
is trying to get your attention.
And to really honor your rage, honor your annoyance, honor things that aggravate you.
Not the thing, but the feeling like, "Oh, I'm so glad I feel irritated, aggravated.
I'm so glad I can still feel my rage.
I'm so glad that I have not been numbed into inactivity.
This is important to feel.
Everything in fire gets us to move.
Anything that happens in a fire sign is about being inspired to do something in the moment.
So I want you to pay attention to what you're inspired to take action towards, especially
on Saturday.
So this film is happening right next to Neptune.
Neptune is the ideal.
It's not the reality.
This film is happening right next to Neptune, but it's also happening right next to Saturn.
It's closer to Neptune than Saturn, but it's going to go from Neptune to Saturn.
So we're really talking about the bridge in between the dream, the delusion, perhaps,
the fantasy and the reality.
And so yes, this is a really inspired full moon, meaning that the weekend will feel like,
what's the big vision, what's the big inspiration, and then slowly we have to contend with the
reality of that.
I also think that because the Neptune Saturn conjunction, reality, illusion, really does
feel like a whole new iteration of virtual reality, aka AI.
I also think that there's something here that maybe harkens back to February of 2026.
There's something here that feels very like AI, virtual reality, what's real, what's
not, February 2026 of this year feels like 400 years ago, but it was really just this
year.
That's when the Saturn Neptune conjunction happened.
And so anytime something's happening in areas like in between Saturn and Neptune, it feels
like it's kind of like pulling them back together in a way or it's highlighting the connection
between both, especially a moon, full moon or new moon, because it moves so quickly.
And so there might be something that connects back to what happened in February of 2026 this
weekend.
And there also could be something again about the virtual reality-ness, like what's real,
what isn't, that kind of dominates the airwaves or the headlines this weekend.
But I do think that for our own personal uses, this is again the equinox full moon.
This makes obvious what is in balance, what's out of balance, this makes obvious what we're
inspired to move towards.
This makes obvious what the reality is in terms of making our dreams quote unquote come true.
And this is a time to be like, okay, what do I need to take action towards?
In order to feel like I am moving towards justice, there is more equity in my personal life,
in my professional life, in the world, what is my part, what is the action that I can take.
And then for some of us, the full moon will feel like a moment of a kind of like dissipation
of energy, because that's the other part of Neptune.
Neptune can be like just so boundaryless that it's hard to focus on anyone thing.
So on Saturday, you just feel like I don't want to, I was going to, but now I don't want
to. That's also very much a way that a full moon conjunct Neptune can transpire, can be like,
oh, all this stuff is happening and then all of a sudden it's just kind of like petered
out or it's gone in too many different directions or the momentum can also kind of like get lost
because it's dissipated in too many different ways.
So just make sure you're not overdoing or overcommitting on Saturday and that you do.
And over the course of the weekend, so that you do actually get to kind of work with
this energy in one way or another, I always think about the week of the full moon, like
the week leading up to the full moon as this building of a wave, right?
Like if we are surfing, we want to catch the wave before it breaks because we want to
be able to ride it.
And so I want you to think of this week as part of that.
We are being galvanized, we're being energized by the change of the season.
It's a very active kind of moment. Again, if you're in the Northern Hemisphere,
it is a time of turning inward. It is a big change. It is a marker of a shift of light.
And then there's also this like, okay, we're starting to move towards the darkness.
And then at the same time, there's this big beautiful full moon that's occurring.
And it is making obvious something that we need to take action towards.
So I do want us to think about our dream. I do want us to notice what's inspiring us,
what feels like, oh yeah, that would be inspiring to move towards.
And then we know that the reality of that is kind of right behind the dream. Like, oh,
and that's the work that it would take to do so. Do I still want to do it?
And I think that that's part of the Saturn Neptune conjunction.
Wherever Aries is in your chart, this is what we're wrestling with. This is the dream.
This is the desire. This is the inspo. This is the reality. Like, does the mood board fit with the
calendar? Does the mood board fit with your actual physical, creative, personal energy each
and every day? Or is it at odds with it? And this can be a full moon where you might adjust it,
like you might adjust the big mood board. I also want you to think about five months ago,
in April, there was a new moon in Aries. And so whether you have the channy,
astro planner or not, go back to your calendars, go back to your photos, go back to your planners,
whatever which one you use, and be like, what was I doing around the new moon in April?
Was I planting any seeds of intention? Was I beginning anything there that has now come to fruition?
Because if you were here with me, I was very much talking about the dream and the reality.
And what's the bridge in between that? I've been talking about it all year. And this is the
full moon that brings some of that to awareness. And then there's also the fantasy and the reality.
Like, oh, this is what I want. And then when I get it, I'm like, oh, that's really not what I
thought I was ordering. Okay, you know, like you see something online and you order it and then
you try it on. You're like, this is hideous. I hate it. This looks awful on me. There's that
kind of feeling to this full moon too. Like, okay, I didn't know what was going to be all of this.
And it is, therefore, I will do this and this and this. And I won't do this and this and this.
Or this is what I can take from the scenario. This is what I can take from the situation.
And this is how I'm going to adjust what it is. I'm moving towards in this lifetime in this moment.
This is what I need in terms of protection. And this is also what I can give in terms of being
open and vulnerable and available in this area of my life. Because Neptune is the openness,
the vulnerability and the availability. And Saturn is the stop sign. But it's also the protection.
Saturn is the wall. So we need protection in this area of our life. And we also need
openness and transparency and an ability to be porous to a certain degree. And all of those
things are for us to weigh and to counter and to have like a very exact kind of measurement
and addition, subtraction kind of equation for ourselves in this area of our life. Meaning,
the area of your chart that contains areas. So go listen to your reading for the week to find out
what that is. And then there's more fire on the horizon because on Sunday, Mars moves in to Leo.
On one hand, this is nice because Mars is now left cancer where it's humiliated, right? Mars
and cancer is the opposite from its exaltation. It is in its fall. And so the humiliation of Mars
can be really challenging. It can be like fights that you're like, why are we fighting about this?
This isn't the point. This, I don't even know what the worth of this is or who am I fighting with?
Or why are we doing this? Like, what is this battle that we're in? It feels very emotional.
It doesn't, it doesn't feel clear cut and not quite sure what to do with this. Is this a battle?
Is this a fight that has integrity or not? Then that's the Mars and cancer can be some of that.
And so as Mars moves into Leo, it shifts that. It's no longer in that place where it's like,
oh, I don't have my resources. I don't quite know what to do with my energy.
But it is going to be in an opposition with Pluto. And so now, you know, this full moon is like,
it lights up everything. And then Mars moves into Leo. And it's like, oh, this is tense.
The Mars Pluto opposition is building Mars and Venus are also going to make a square Venus and Pluto
have made a square. They're going to make another one. So there's this tension that's building
in the fixed signs. And that means that there is something that is sturdy, that is also a problem.
Things that happen in fixed signs have staying power because that's what fixed signs are about.
And so this feeling of an opposition between Mars and Pluto is a major power struggle. And because
Venus is sitting at this really sensitive place in between them, there's also this feeling of like,
okay, what's the relationship dynamics that we're dealing with now that we've been dealing with
for a little bit, there's more to the story. And it's going to be dramatic because it's in Leo.
Mars's travels through Leo are going to be quite, quite, quite dramatic. They're going to be big.
They're going to be performative. And eventually in 2027, not to get to ahead of ourselves,
Mars will retrograde back into Leo. So Leo's also a place where we just had an eclipse. We're going
to have another eclipse. Jupiter is also in Leo. The south nodes in Leo. This is where it feels like,
okay, things are going to start to really get going again. Number August and all of the big
things that happened in August, well, the Mars is going to start to reactivate some of that.
We're not quite there yet. Mars is only entering into Leo at the end of the week.
But I do think, and I said this in your personal readings, I do think this is about where and how
we learn how to be the boss, how we learn how to be loud as leaders in our own lives to whatever
degree we need to be. But there is something that's going to start to really. And again,
it's been happening since mid-September, since last week, because last week, Venus and Pluto made
a square. Naviness is really slow, still close to a square with Pluto. Now Mars is going to start
to make that opposition to Pluto. There's just this tension, friction in the air. The full moon
is a point of tension because it's the lunar solar point of tension. And so it feels like there's
a lot going on. It feels like there's a lot going on and it's going to be obvious. As we move into
October, you and I are going to do a lot of work on envy, jealousy, our unconscious, our shadow
selves, and marrying the two. We're going to work with the myth of Inana and Arash Gagel.
We're going to work on the reunification of the two. And we're going to work on validating the
part of ourselves that has felt betrayed, that has felt buried, that has felt maligned, that has
felt misunderstood. And doing that in our work is going to help us move through these points of
friction and tension that are already building, but are really going to start to get going as of
Sunday the 27th. Okay, now we have a question from the audience. Thank you so much for sending these in.
Hi, Jenny. Thank you so much for all that you do. My question is, what does it mean when your
sun and moon are in opposition? So for example, my sun is in Scorpio in the fifth house and my moon
is in Taurus in the 11th house. And an opposition with those two just seems like it might be important.
So I'm curious to hear what you think about that. Thank you. It is so important because you're born
of the full moon. You're either born right before a full moon, right? Exactly on a full moon or just
after a full moon. But if your sun and moon are in opposite signs, that's what it means. That's
what a full moon is. Also, you have the moon in Taurus. So in the 11th house, so oh my gosh, like
friends, communities, connections, they are your gold mine doing any kind of community work. All
of that is so important for you because just knowing that I know you're born at night. I know the
moon is your light leader. You have an exalted moon. It's in the 11th house of good spirits. And so
it means that your friendships are everything. So, so, so important for you to be amongst people
that you feel like, oh, I'm home here. This feels like I can build here. You also nurture and give
anywhere like a rock and probably a fountain of care and hospitality and probably also food
for your people. Let us know. But to anybody who has the sun and moon in opposite signs,
[BLANK_AUDIO]
born during that moment of tension. And so if you're born right before the full moon, which means
that your moon would be less than degrees than your sun. To say your sun is 17 degrees of Scorpio.
If your moon is 16 degrees of Scorpio or less, it means that it's building towards the full moon.
If your sun is 17 degrees of a sign and your moon is 17 degrees of a sign, then you're pretty
much born at that exact moment. And then later degrees means you're born just after, but it's
still within full moon territory. If you're born right before the full moon, there is a vibe of
great expectations to your entire life. It really matters what phase of the moon that you're born
under. And I just so know of an app that will tell you exactly what phase of the moon you're born
under and what it means for you. Yes, if you go to the channy app, it'll tell you what phase of the
moon you were born under in the me tab. Go look at your moon and we will tell you what phase you
were born under and what that means for your whole life. But if you're born just before the full moon,
expectations, great expectations. There's always this feeling of like, we're almost there. We're almost
there. Are we there yet? Is it full yet? Are we? It's like expecting, expecting, expecting. And if
you're born at the full moon, it's like, da da da. Here we are. We're big, we're full. You're here
to take up space. You're here to fill the room. You are here to let it all shine. And you're here
to be a spotlight for something. And it really depends on where the moon is located, like what area
of your life. So for you, if it is a full moon, then it's a full moon in community. It's a full
moon in friendships. It's a full moon in good spirits. That means that the people that you surround
yourself with will be a portal of goodness and fortune in your life. It's a very beautiful setup
because it's exalted and because it's in the place of good spirits. So there's a certain type of
fortune through friendship for you specifically. But anyone with the moon in the eleventh house will
have some kind of component like that. But anyone with anything exalted in the eleventh house,
ooh, extra good. So that exalted planets are sun and airies, moon and tourists, mercury and
Virgo, Venus and Pisces, Mars and Capricorn, Jupiter and Cancer and Saturn in Libra. Those are the
traditional exaltation lords. Those are the traditional seven planets in their place of exaltation.
If you have one of those signatures, this is a point in your life where you can always be like,
okay, I can go here and I can feel lucky. I can go here and I can know that I'm resourced in a
way and I can go here and I can know that I'm going to be able to work with this with greater ease
than maybe other parts of my life. So knowing the planet, it's significations. The moon is our
physical life. The moon is nourishment. The moon is our body. The moon is our home.
And then where it is, eleventh house is a place of friends and good spirits. And in a way,
like it's a fortunate kind of place in the chart. So if you have something good in the eleventh house
or in a fortunate place in the chart, that's where you can always go to refill your cup. That's
where you can always go to make sure like, okay, I'm getting what I need. And I'm also really
lucky in this area of my life. And just because you have an exalted placement in like,
you have an exalted moon in the eleventh house, you have moon and tourist in the eleventh house,
or say Venus and Pisces in the eleventh house, there's good luck there, but you also might
tend to over give because you feel like, oh, I've got so much. I can just give it away.
Anyways, that's another question for another podcast episode. I love you so much. I'm sending you
so many blessings. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you for being here. Thank you,
thank you, thank you for being in this work with us and me. The whole team, thanks you,
thank you, thank you, thank you. Next week, come back because we're going to talk about the very
beginning of Venus Retrograde. And I want to go very deep into the myth of Anana and Arash Gagal
because that is one of the ancient myths associated with the visuals that Venus Retrograde
gives us, and I'll talk all about that then. Bye for now.
Podcast Summary
Key Points:
The equinox marks a seasonal shift, with the northern hemisphere entering a time of introspection and inward focus, while the southern hemisphere experiences an invitation to move more externally and energetically.
