The Truth About Tithe

This message explores the biblical principles of kingdom economics, emphasizing that giving to God is a rare and noble privilege. The speaker explains that believers belong to God's kingdom and must follow its principles rather than worldly systems. Money is a central biblical theme, mentioned over 2,300 times, and Jesus spoke about it more than any other subject. The first recorded human activity of Cain and Abel was giving offerings, establishing giving as the foundation of society. The tithe, derived from the Hebrew word "maaser," represents the first ten percent of income and is linked to "osher," meaning wealth, indicating that prosperity is connected to tithing. The speaker distinguishes between two priesthood systems: the Levitical priesthood, which has ceased, and the superior Melchizedek priesthood, under which Jesus serves as High Priest forever. Under the Levitical system, tithing actually totaled about 23.3 percent annually through three types: the priestly tithe, the vacation tithe, and the charity tithe. Jesus did not condemn tithing but corrected the Pharisees' hypocritical motives, affirming that tithing should continue alongside justice, mercy, and faith. Testimonies of wealthy individuals like John D. Rockefeller, J.C. Penney, and Sam Walton demonstrate that consistent tithing brings blessings, creative ideas, and prosperity. The speaker encourages believers to tithe with fresh revelation, recognizing it as a testimony that Jesus is alive and a pathway to divine provision.

hearing by the word comes by hearing and hearing by the word of god of god of god what is tithe what is tithe what is tithe the word tithe the word tithe the word tithe comes from the hebrew word mesa comes from the hebrew word mesa comes from the hebrew word mesa mesa now you can spell it mesa now you can spell it mesa now you can spell it a-a-s-e-r mesa a-a-s-e-r mesa a-a-s-e-r mesa the word mesa the word mesa the word mesa say mesa say mesa say mesa yeah yeah yeah now mesa now mesa now mesa is where we get the word asa is where we get the word asa is where we get the word asa now asa is a-s-e-r now asa is a-s-e-r now asa is a-s-e-r a-s-e-r so a-s-e-r so a-s-e-r so if you write mesa and asa you can see if you write mesa and asa you can see if you write mesa and asa you can see that what does it mean what does it mean what it means is that the secrets to our what it means is that the secrets to our what it means is that the secrets to our wealth and our prosperity is in the wealth and our prosperity is in the wealth and our prosperity is in the tithe it's amazing how god made it it's amazing how god made it the secrets to our wealth our prosperity the secrets to our wealth our prosperity the secrets to our wealth our prosperity is in the tithe because you can get mesa is in the tithe because you can get mesa is in the tithe because you can get mesa you can get asa from the mesa you can get asa from the mesa you can get asa from the mesa you can get wealth and riches from the you can get wealth and riches from the you can get wealth and riches from the tithe that's what god has done that's what god has done that's what god has done tithe is the first tithe is the first tithe is the first 10 percent of your income 10 percent of your income 10 percent of your income the first 10 percent the first 10 percent the first 10 percent of your income and what you get of your income and what you get of your income and what you get god is your source and if god is your god is your source and if god is your god is your source and if god is your source he is the senior partner source he is the senior partner source he is the senior partner which partner would take 10 for you to which partner would take 10 for you to which partner would take 10 for you to take take take 90 the senior partner now decides to 90 the senior partner now decides to 90 the senior partner now decides to take 10 and you the junior partner he take 10 and you the junior partner he take 10 and you the junior partner he says take 90 says take 90 says take 90 that is how loving god is but you so you that is how loving god is but you so you that is how loving god is but you so you know it's a principle know it's a principle know it's a principle in the bible 10 is even a principle you in the bible 10 is even a principle you in the bible 10 is even a principle you see see see in genesis 24 verse 10 the servant of in genesis 24 verse 10 the servant of in genesis 24 verse 10 the servant of abraham the unnamed servant of abraham abraham the unnamed servant of abraham abraham the unnamed servant of abraham took 10 camels loaded with goods took 10 camels loaded with goods took 10 camels loaded with goods to go to rebecca the house of rebecca to to go to rebecca the house of rebecca to to go to rebecca the house of rebecca to look for a spouse for isaac the son of look for a spouse for isaac the son of look for a spouse for isaac the son of abraham abraham abraham the bible says he took 10 camels but it the bible says he took 10 camels but it the bible says he took 10 camels but it just just just the bible tells us that that's 10 that's 10. can i give you king james language king can i give you king james language king can i give you king james language king james version james version james version so he took 10 camels so he took 10 camels so he took 10 camels laded with all the goods from abraham laded with all the goods from abraham laded with all the goods from abraham but about this he took everything but about this he took everything but about this he took everything but about this he took everything the bible says 10th but about cause the the bible says 10th but about cause the the bible says 10th but about cause the 10th 10th 10th all the goods of abraham 10 is used for all the goods of abraham 10 is used for all the goods of abraham 10 is used for the whole the whole the whole or the all when you give the tenth in the or the all when you give the tenth in the or the all when you give the tenth in the eyes of god it's like you have given eyes of god it's like you have given eyes of god it's like you have given everything everything everything so 10 stands for the whole he took 10 so 10 stands for the whole he took 10 so 10 stands for the whole he took 10 camels but the bible says camels but the bible says He had all the possessions. So 10 stands for the whole. So when you give your 10th in the sight of God, it's as if you have given everything back to God. So that principle speaks of dependency on God. The fact that you depend on God and God is your source. Your job is not your source. Your career is not your source. Your work is not your source. Your source is from God. It's an acknowledgement that it is from God. Hallelujah. So the wealth is in a tithe. Every dedicated, addicted, consistent tither will become wealthy. Because if the word of God can love you, lie then the earth isn't real then what you are then what you are seeing isn't real then everything is a lie because they know the earth is hanging the stars are hanging he opposed all things by the word of his power his word is what sustains everything he uphold all things he sustains gravity he sustains centripetal centrifugal the earth imaginary axis all the stars in your orbit whatever is in the universe is upheld by the word of his power the word cannot fail if the word can't fail then god can fail because god is the word now understand this your prosperity is in a tithe that's the basic that's the foundation there was a man who lived his name is sir john templeton that said john templeton was one of the greatest investors in the last century he founded what was called the templeton mutual fund the templeton mutual fund and you know what he did he gave a lot of investment counseling to thousands of people to thousands of people and at the end he made a statement he made a statement in all that's what he said in all his investment counseling he said i have found out that the happier and the prosperous families are the families who tithe he says after counseling thousands of families he says and he was not a pastor he wasn't a preacher he was an invest investment counselor he was an investor he says he has observed in the thousands of families he has counseled the happiest ones the prosperous ones are the titan families may you be a titan family to the glory of god hallelujah yeah john d rockefeller is the one of the wealthiest men who have ever lived that some believe that he was a work the wealthiest man after king solomon some believe that actually d rockefeller was so wealthy some of his railway networks are still existent existent some of his companies are still around and this is what he said he said i could not have given my tithe on my first one million dollars if i had not first i had not tited on my first salary which was one dollar fifty cents that was his first salary he said i could not have tited on my first one million dollars if i had not tited on my first salary which was one dollar fifty cents you know he he when he was young he gave his first tithe when he was 16 years he worked in a ship as a clerk and he received his first pay and when he went home his mom took the money from him and put the money on her lap and said john let me teach you a lesson if you want to be happier for the rest of your life that's what i want you to do anytime you get money separate the first ten and give to the lord because it belongs to him it is for him if you want to be happier in life so jondell o'cafella learned tithing from his mother thank god for believing mothers because most of the wealthiest guys who walk the earth who tited they learned tithing from their mothers so he began to tithe all his life and it worked for him and he wrote it himself how tithing became such a blessing for him this guy became so wealthy look he gave to god so much that there was a time his church was building the church he was was building a branch so everyone was contributing in those days he contributed 40 million dollars 40 million dollars just to build a branch of a church what a shock his church was building a university he single-handedly you know how much he gave one hundred and one hundred and forty million dollars in those days he gave to god he gave to the church so much that it became a media issue the media took it up you know his response so what are you talking about it's the church that made me he said the church made me what are you talking about so these are people who have proven the power of the tithe and it worked for them hallelujah and it's going to work for you it's going to work for you so the tithe is the first one tenth of your income it's not a second it's not a tenth there are people who have their income and they spend it when they get to the last tenth then they give to god that is dishonor if you are not making god the first priority in your life you have made god your last result instead of your first response you have not honored and treated him as god the first in the first service i spoke of the preeminence of god god can never be second it is preeminence if you put him second you have to make him second you have to make him second you have to make him second he has not honored and treated him as god so god must be first in all first of all first in your time first in your money first in your career first in your business first in your marriage first when you wake up in the morning your first response when you wake up is god it's your devotion it's the bible it's you talking to jesus in your marriage what is jesus saying in your marriage jesus must be first that is the law of priority god must be first hallelujah praise god when the bible speaks of titan titan is connected to the priesthood the priesthood there are two aspects of titan in the bible and the two types of titan belongs to two systems of priesthood so if you are titan it's it's a it's a your titan reveals which system of priesthood you are operating under and in the bible there are two systems of priesthood which forms two regimes or two different order of priesthood because titan you cannot take titan from the priesthood titan is connected to the priesthood we have tight we tight because of the priesthood hallelujah so understand that there are two systems of priesthood the first system is called the melchizedek priesthood and the second is called the levitical priesthood these are the two great priesthood in the bible to understand titan and to have it effectively you need to understand the priestly system so there is a levitical priesthood there is a melchizedek priesthood the first priestly system is called the levitical priesthood which appears in genesis chapter 14 the second priesthood is levitical priesthood the word levitical is from the name levi now with these two priestly regimes and economies the melchizedek priesthood antedates the levitical priesthood by a period of four how many years four hundred and fifty you see genesis 14 to the given of the law is 450 not 430 430 is from genesis 17 that is when the covenant was confirmed so listen abraham gave tithe to melchizedek by the time he gave the tithe isaac was not born jacob was not gone was not born the 12 tribes were not born levi was not born in fact it was given jacob the tithe jacob gave at bethel the house of god was approximately 300 years before the law now when we say old testament some people think that old testament means um generically we say old testament and new testament but for your information is in the strictest sense when did the new testament begins began on the cross when jesus was on earth the new testament had not begun the new covenant was cut on the cross when did the old covenant begin the old covenant the old covenant is not the abrahamic covenant we are still connected to the abrahamic covenant but we are not under the old covenant we are under the abrahamic covenant connected to it but we are not under the old covenant abraham was not under the old covenant the old covenant was integrated and enacted at mount sinai that is why it is called the sinaitic covenant and others call it the mosaic covenant it happened in the old covenant it happened in the old covenant it happened in the exodus 19 hallelujah but prior to that they were under the abrahamic covenant and we are connected to the abrahamic covenant because we are the seed of abraham hallelujah there is titan under the levitical priesthood which with its own ordinances but the first titan was the melchizedek priesthood so there are two systems of titan and i want to explain it briefly are you here with me so the first one predicts the second one by 450 years now the first priesthood the melchizedek priesthood is superior to the levitical priesthood is superior now in the book of hebrews jesus is compared to the old testament in hebrews chapter one and chapter two jesus is compared to angels why because he rose from the dead in hebrews moses is a servant jesus is the son jesus is the builder moses is the house in hebrews chapter four jesus is compared to joshua and he's greater than joshua how is he greater because joshua They didn't lead them to rest, but Jesus ushered us into rest. Hebrews chapter 5, chapter 6, chapter 7. Jesus is greater than the Levitical priesthood. Why? Because of the tithe. One reason for Jesus' superiority over the Levitical priesthood, because he himself belongs to another priestly system called the Melchizedek priesthood. One reason why that priestly system is higher than the Levitical priesthood is because the Levitical priesthood actually tithed to the Melchizedek priesthood. And who you tithe to is an acknowledgment that that is the greater. In Hebrews 7, verse 9 and 10, the Bible tells us that Levi paid tithe in Abraham. When Abraham was given tithe to Melchizedek, Isaac was not born, Jacob was not born, the 12 sons were not born, but when he was given the tithe, mysteriously, there is something we call the seed principle. The Bible says, Levi, who was the fourth generation, paid tithe in Abraham to Melchizedek when Abraham was given the tithe. You know what it means? That means the Levitical priesthood submits to the Melchizedek priesthood. It shows that the Melchizedek priesthood is greater and superior than that priesthood. But another lesson is that, can you imagine that when you give tithe, your posterity will have, prosperity because of your tithing. When you give tithe, it's not just for yourself. It's an investment to your posterity. Because even his fourth generation, tithed, received a blessing in what Abraham was doing. So some of you, you may be enjoying blessing. There are people who are enjoying blessings, though they are not serious with God. You know why? Because their great-grandmother, their great-grandfather, actually tithed and gave to God, and they have become beneficiaries of what they did, but now they are walking in pride, thinking that it's because of their ingenuity and what they can do, not knowing what has been done for them. So I'm telling you that you can, when you give tithe, your posterity is given tithe. You are securing your generations. Hallelujah. The Melchizedek priesthood, Abraham gave tithe to Melchizedek. If his seed gave tithe to Melchizedek, then we must also give tithe. You know why? If ye be Christ, ye are Abraham's seed, and as according to the promise, if his seed gave tithe, we the seed, we have to give tithe. Because we are the seed of Abraham. This is Galatians chapter. Now, do you remember? Do you remember? In John chapter 8, verse 39, Jesus told the Pharisees that if you were Abraham's children, you would do the works of Abraham. If you were Abraham's children, you would do the works of Abraham. How many of you are the children of Abraham? Are you a child of Abraham? Yeah. In Galatians 3, verse 29, you are the seed of Abraham, but here we are the children of Abraham. If you are his child, you do his works. One of the works of Abraham is that he gave tithe. So if we are his children, we do his works. We are under the Abrahamic covenant, not the old covenant. But let me talk about the Levitical regime before I come back to the Melchizedek priesthood. The Levitical priesthood. I want us to understand the dynamism of tithing under the old covenant. Praise God. In the Old Testament, tithing was not just 10%. It was surprising to know that in the old covenant, you know how much they tithed in a year? Tithing was not 10%. It was 23.3%. That's the old covenant. Now, there are, under the Levitical regime, there are three types of tithing. There are three types of tithing. The first one is called the Mesa Rishon. Three types of tithing. Now, you can find them in Deuteronomy chapter 14, 22 to 29. I wouldn't want us to read everything because of time. So, in these three types of tithing, you will realize, that the tithing in the Old Testament wasn't 10%. It was 23.3%. It's amazing. So, the first tithe was called the Mesa Rishon. The Mesa Rishon is called the Priestly Tithe. The Priestly Tithe. The Mesa Rishon. The Priestly Tithe. That was the first 10% was the Priestly Tithe. The second tithe was called the Mesa Shemi. It was called Vacation Tithe. Vacation Tithe. Now, the third, the third tithe was called the Mesa Eni. In Hebrew, Mesa Eni. It is called Charity Tithe. Charity Tithe. Praise God. Now, people confuse themselves with these things. We should never confuse ourselves. These are tithing under the Levitical regime. Now, the first one is called the Mesa Rishon, which is the Priestly Tithe. So, when the year begins, after their first fruit is given, the next month, the first tithe they give was called the Mesa Rishon. The Mesa Rishon. It was called the Priestly Tithe. That tithe went to the priest. It went to the Levite, the priest. The reason being that the Levite didn't have inheritance. They didn't own houses and lands like the rest of the people. The Levites were, these guys were full-time workers in the house of God. Some of them were watchmen. Some of them were washing. Some of them were taking care of sacrifices. Some of them were doorkeepers, gatekeepers. And they had to take care of the tabernacle, or the temple. So, the first 10% of their income went to the priest, to the house of God. To the house of God. To take care of the priesthood and the Levite in the house of God. It was called the Mesa Rishon. Please, I follow him. And listen, in Jewish cycles, the first seven years of their calendar was a cycle. Because the seventh year was their sabbatical year. So, among the Jews, within seven years, the Mesa Rishon, or the priestly tithe, is taken in the first six years. They take tithe the first six years. The seventh year, which is a sabbatical year, tithe wasn't taken. Now, these guys were primarily farmers. So, because the seventh year was a sabbatical year. The reason tithe wasn't taken, the reason the first tithe wasn't taken on the sabbatical year was this. During the year of sabbath, your land is not yours. Now, if you have, in case of land, and you have crops on the land, the seventh year, the land is not yours. The land now belongs to God. And because on the seventh year, the land is not yours, the Levites and the priests have the liberty and the freedom to go to any field and eat from every field. You understand? They can eat and enjoy from every farm they find and pluck the crops. Because on the seventh year, your land is not your land. It belongs to God. As a reason, the seventh year, tithe was not taken. So, the Mesa Rishon, which is the first tithe, was taken the first six years. The seventh year was the sabbath. And the priesthood, the Levites, can enjoy from every field. Hallelujah. The second tithe was called the vacation tithe. It's called the Mesa Sheni. Now, the vacation tithe, listen to me carefully, is taken after the first tithe is taken. So, question. If you have 100%, you give the first 10, it's left with what? 90%. The second 10 is taken, then it's left with 80%. So, the second tithe is not taken as a replacement for the first. The second tithe is taken after the first tithe is taken. I have to say that because people confuse it. Because the second tithe was vacation tithe. That tithe was actually for the people. That tithe was, the Bible says that whoever they were in Israel, they can convert their tithe into money. And that tithe was spent in Jerusalem during their pilgrimage feast. There were special feasts that took everybody to Jerusalem. And when they go to Jerusalem, especially Passover, Pentecost, and Shavuot, Pentecost, and the Feast of Tabernacles. When they go, they feast together. And God says that the second tithe, the people had to spend it themselves. You know how they spend it? Their families come together and they have communal meals. It was to foster love, unity, and togetherness. And they eat and they feast in the presence of God. Hallelujah. It was called a vacation tithe. They spend it in the presence of God. Some people think that, oh, so can we spend our tithe? Okay, if you want to live by the old system and you want to do the same thing, after you have given your first 10% to the house of God, you can enjoy your own second 10%. I mean, no one will catch you. But people think that, oh, we have to spend our tithe. That's not what the Bible is saying. It's a misnomer. The Mesa Rishon goes to the priesthood, goes to the house of God. The second, which is the Mesa Sheni, was a vacation tithe. It was to foster love and community amongst God's people. It was a feast tithe. Praise God. Hallelujah. The third one is a charity tithe called the Mesa In. it was for the poor the last 10% let me go back So the second tithe was spent for, within seven years, they took it in four years. It wasn't taken every year. The vacation tithe was taken four years in seven years. So the vacation tithe in Israel, it was taken the first year, the second year, the fourth year, and the fifth year. The reason is because the charity tithe, which is for the poor, was taken twice in seven years. It was taken every three years. It was called the third year tithe. So when that tithe was taken, the second tithe was not taken. This is God's system. When that tithe was taken, the second tithe was not taken. So the first tithe was taken six years in seven years. The second tithe was taken four years in seven years. The third tithe was taken two years in seven years. The third tithe was for the widows, the orphans, the homeless. The strangers, those who were destitute of their daily bread. So God cared for the poor. It was done to promote compassion. It was done to demonstrate economic balance. It was to show God's mercy and God's justice. Because God cares for everyone. And God wants everyone's well-being. Everyone in Israel should not suffer. So he caters for all of them. So these were the three aspects of tithing. Under the Levitical priesthood. Praise God. So the priestly tithe, which was go straight to the house of God. Then the vacation tithe. Then the one for the charity. If you do your calculation well, almost like 23.3%. That's what they had to give. Hallelujah. We say 10% because that is what goes to the house of God, straight to the priesthood. So please don't confuse it. Don't go and spend your tithe and say, the Bible says we can eat our tithe. You've misinterpreted it. If you want to spend it, make sure the first one go to God, which is the Mesa Rishon. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Jesus didn't condemn tithing. Matthew 23, verse 23. In that, it was a woe chapter. In that chapter, he was saying woe unto this and woe unto that. So people think Jesus was condemning tithing. Jesus wasn't condemning tithing. He was condemning the legalistic attitude of the scribes and Pharisees concerning tithing. So Jesus was correcting their wrong attitude and their wrong motives concerning tithing. So look at what Jesus said. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye pay tithe on men's anise and cumin. That's amazing. These guys were wild. These were herbs and spices. Now, the cumin is like a tiny spices like pepper, like pepper or salt, something tiny. So with the Pharisees, if they had pepper, if they had ten pepper, they would put one aside as tithe and use the nine. They were even tithing on salt. So these guys were wild. So Jesus said, you guys, you pay tithe, on men's anise and cumin, and have omitted the weighty matters of the law. Judgment, mercy, and faith. This ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. The other is a tithe. Don't stop tithing, but let me correct your attitude and motive concerning tithe. You know what they were doing? They were hypocrites. They were very legalistic. Let me show you what they were doing. Look at verse 14. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye pay tithe on men's anise and cumin, and devour widows' houses. One person says, you know what it means to devour widows' houses? They take advantage of widows. They go and they take their substance. They take their wealth. They take what belongs to them. So can you imagine? You are taking advantage of widows after they have come to give you tithe. So Jesus is correcting the wrong attitude. So they should have the heart for mercy, for justice, for the love of God, and live rightly, and also give them the tithe at the same time. So he was correcting the wrong attitude concerning tithing, but he didn't say they should stop tithing. He said, still do it. Don't leave it undone. That's what Jesus said. He didn't condemn tithing. And even this is still under the Levitical regime. These guys were very. One day Jesus said, in Matthew 5 verse 20, accept your righteousness, exceed the righteousness of the scribes, and the Pharisees. You shall not enter into the kingdom of God. And these guys were so righteous that, legalistically righteous, that they even gave tithe on paper. Blessed be God, our righteousness now is in Christ. And in Christ, our righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees. Some people have reasoned that if in Christ our righteousness is higher, and we are under a better covenant, established upon better promises, they have reckoned that then they will give beyond 10%. If under that inferior covenant, they give 10, and under this higher righteousness, under this better covenant, in their personal revelation, they decide to give beyond 10. And it has worked for them. Praise God. In the New Testament, tithe is actually based on revelation. If you can see. So there are people who give more than that. It depends on what you see. Hallelujah. Ask your neighbor, what do you see? Yes. Yes. It's personal. I have seen it. I give more than that. What do you also give? There were people like that. It reminds me of J.C. Penney. You know, J.C. Penney is one of the wealthiest men in America's history. He had his departmental stores all over America. He was a multimillionaire. J.C. Penney. J.C. Penney was taught to tithe. He learned tithing from his mother. His mother taught him how to tithe. And he began tithing consistently. And God began to bless him. He began to access blessings. Things were going well. Somewhere in his life, he encountered a preacher, someone who abused him about tithing and told him that we are not supposed to tithe. And this abused the mind of J.C. Penney and J.C. Penney quit tithing. His own testimony, J.C. Penney, when he quit tithing, after a while, he went into the gutters. He became so broke. He became so poor. He lost his health. Lost his businesses. Went down. Having nothing. He entered into depression. His physical health was even broken down. God gave him light and revelation that there's something he's not seeing. So, he repented of not giving tithe to God. He repented and recovered. Instead of giving tithe. And with consistent tithe giving, J.C. Penney began to rise. He began to rise. He began to rise. He became so wealthy. J.C. Penney became so wealthy, he began to practice what he called reverse tithing. Reverse tithing. He became so wealthy that every month he was given to God 90%. And he was given the 10%. The guy was seriously wealthy. The 10% was enough to sustain him, his family, and everything that he did. May God bless you that way. You can be so wealthy that the 1% you have takes care of everything. He did reverse tithing. That's revelation. Giving to God 90%. So, there are people like that. People like that. People like that. People like Rick Warren practiced reverse tithing. Reverse tithing. There was a man by the name R.J. R.J. Letoroni. He was a leading manufacturer of all the earth-moving equipment. The bulldozers, the heavy trucks. 70% of all the earth-moving equipment in the world. He manufactured it. And he also practiced reverse tithing. He gave God 90%. It works, hallelujah. All right. Is tithing relevant today? Has tithing ceased today? What is the answer? The answer is this. One system of tithing has ceased. But another system of tithing has not ceased. It depends on how you see it. Tithing under the Levitical regime has ceased because we are not under the law. But tithing under the Melchizedek regime continues. So which regime do you belong to? Hebrews chapter 8. Let's see where we are today. And which priestly? Order. do we belong to presently? Hebrews chapter 7, sorry. For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of kings and blessed him, to whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all, first being by interpretation king of righteousness, and after that also king of Salem, which is king of peace. Now, understand that the name Melchizedek, Melchizedek really is not a name, it's a title. Melchizedek, literally king of righteousness. It's a title like Abimelech. There's Abimelech in the days of Abraham, there's Abimelech in the days of Isaac. A title like Pharaoh. Pharaoh is a title. So someone read the Bible and said, this Abimelech must have half immortality. Because he has lived for a long time. Or Pharaoh lives for a long time. Because we see Pharaoh in different era. We see Pharaoh, it's not the same person. It's a title. Title like Melchizedek. It's an office. It is a priestly office. Hallelujah. Now, without father, without mother, without descent, we haven't neither beginning of this nor end of life. I'm not going into this. But scholars believe, they have different belief systems. Some believe he is Christophany. Christophany. The pre-incarnate appearance of, appearing of Christ before his birth in Bethlehem. There are others who believe he is the patriarch Shem and all of that. But I'm not going into all of that. I'm speaking about the priestly order. Having neither beginning of this nor end of life, but made like unto the Son of God, abided the priest continually. I want you to notify this word, made like unto the Son of God. Melchizedek is made like unto the Son of God. Now, the ASV said, he is assimilated unto the Son of God. But to get the real meaning of this verse, we have to read the Passion Translation, the TPT, the Passion Translation. Thank you. This Melchizedek has no father, no mother, no record of any of his ancestors. He was never born and never died. But his life is like a picture of the Son of God. His life is like unto a picture of the Son of God. Now, listen. The Greek word, he is assimilated unto the Son of God. That's what it means. Assuming I have a colored sheet of paper with certain information. But that sheet of paper, what is on it is not yet revealed. It's going to be used in the future. It is a colored paper with wonderful information. But for that generation who will use it to understand the content of that colored paper, I decide to make a photocopy. To give to the people of this generation. So that those who come in the hereafter will understand how to use the original copy. Because a photocopy has been finished for them. For another generation. That's the word assimilated. So, Jesus will come and operate in a certain priestly system called the Melchizedek Priesthood. But Melchizedek appeared and he behaved and operated in a way that the real priest who will operate after that order will function. So what it means is that Jesus' priesthood is the same as what Melchizedek did. Because Jesus operates under the same office. That's why Melchizedek is an office. He operates under the same office. And for your information, he appears in Genesis 14. And in Genesis 14, there were three things he did. There were three things he did. If you understand what that priesthood did, you can understand what Jesus is doing. Because Jesus belongs to that order of priesthood. God. Jesus is operating today under the Melchizedek office. Because he belongs to that priesthood forever. The Lord has sworn and will not repent. Thou art a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek. So Jesus belongs to the Melchizedek regime by God's oath of consecration. Therefore, if you understand what Melchizedek did and what that priesthood does, you will understand what Jesus is doing today. Because Jesus, for the past 2,000 years, is in heaven. As the Lord High Priest. Our High Priest is passed into the heavens. And he is the High Priest after the order of Melchizedek. What is he doing? What did Melchizedek do? Three things. Number one, when he appeared, he blessed. The first thing was to bless. He blessed God. He blessed Abraham. The Bible says he blessed him that has the promises. The Melchizedek priesthood blesses. Aaronic priesthood blesses and curses. But the Melchizedek, Melchizedek priesthood does not curse. It blesses. The Aaronic priesthood both blesses and curses. But Jesus, you know what he did? He became a curse for us. Aha! He took our curse and he was hung on a tree. So he doesn't curse. That priesthood blesses. The first thing Melchizedek did was to bless. The second thing he did was to give the communion. The third thing he did was to receive the tithe. That priesthood does three things. Blessing, communion, and tithing. If you belong to that regime, three things. Blessing, communion, tithing. Hallelujah. For your information, our heavenly Melchizedek is still taking tithe. Hebrews 8 verse 7. But here, men that die receive tithe. On earth. On earth. On earth. Those who die receive tithe. Now the Levitical priest, they died. They died. And he's saying that when they were on earth, they received tithe. But there, where? Heaven. But there, he received them. Now he's talking about Melchizedek. The office receives tithe. There, he received them. Now the word receiveth in the Greek is present passive participle. In the Greek. Now, present tense in the Greek is an action in the present time in a continual fashion. It is a continual and a repetitive action. Whenever you see receiveth, E-T-H, the suffix E-T-H means that the action is repetitive and continuous. So, it is in the passive voice. That means that he is the one receiving it in heaven. So, when you give tithe, you put tithe here on earth, actually has, our Melchizedek high priest has received it in heaven. So, today Jesus is constantly, it is in the present tense, even now. Some of you might have brought your tithe today. You put it here, but he has received it. It is in the heavenly record. The Bible says there, he received them. So, in Jesus' high priestly ministry, he is constantly, constantly, continuously receiving your tithe. Hallelujah. The word high priest in the Holy New Testament appears only in the book of Hebrews. And Jesus is our high priest in the book of Hebrews. Praise God. Hallelujah. The book of Hebrews was written 35 years after the church. 35 years after the church was born. You know, when the church was born, the saints were not having stable income like we are doing today. Because they were always running persecution. It was difficult. By the time the book of Hebrews was written, they were beginning to settle. And that is when the apostle mentioned tithe. They were beginning to settle. You see, during the persecution, there was no room for working to give tithe. So, when they even work, they have to bring everything. And what they can keep, they will keep. But, when the church began to settle, 35 years after, the persecution was again. He mentioned tithe. Saying that even until then, he is still receiving tithe. Our heavenly high priest continuously. There he received it. And look at the reason of whom it is witnessed that he liveth. Your tithe is a witness that Jesus is alive. Your tithe is a living witness of the resurrection of Jesus. of Jesus. Your tithe, because he is receiving it, you have confidence to give. Because you know that your heavenly high priest is receiving it. Of whom it is witness. So, your tithe is the testimony and the living witness that Jesus is alive. Because he is receiving it. Hallelujah. He is alive. He is alive. The communion shows his death. Melchizedek, give communion and receive tithe. One is for your health. One is for your wealth. Communion for your health, tithe for your wealth. The blessing of the gospel. He brought them forth also with the silver and with the gold. Wealth. And there was not one feeble person among all their tribes. Health. He was one to give us wealth and health. It accompanies the gospel. It is the effect and the product of the gospel. It's a package. Praise God. So, Apostle Paul says, concerning the communion, as often as ye eat this bread and drink of this cup, ye do, You saw the lost dead. till he comes. So communion testifies of his death. But the tithe testifies that he's alive, of his resurrection. Hallelujah. Blessed be God. Alright. Abraham there was a battle in his day by five kingdoms. They have captured his nephew Lot and all that he had in his family. In Genesis 14 Abraham took his own servants who were born and raised in his own house, 318 of them. Abraham was a big man. A very big man. And he took his own household servant for battle to fight against five kings. And let me show you how Abraham gave his tithe. It was quantitative tithing. It was institutional and even corporate. It was big. Listen. Now you know what happened in those days. You get all the time to make all your investments and to grow all your crops and a kingdom will come and just beat you and take everything you have. So kingdoms were fighting against kingdoms. When I come and fight against you I'll just take everything you have and take you yourself as spoil. So now Abraham went to fight. Because those five kingdoms have taken his nephew as a spoil and all that he had. So when Abraham went to fight, now he didn't only recover his nephew and their substance. He took the spoils of five kingdoms. Those five kingdoms, he took all their spoils. What each kingdom had taken from other kingdoms as spoils that they had. His own personal spoils, Abraham took from all of them. So he redid five kingdoms and all their goodies and plunder and treasures and silver and gold and horses and camels and goat and sheep and everything. Their treasures. Now all the spoils of those five kingdoms and what they had redid from other kingdoms, now according to the law of the land, belongs to Abraham. According to the law of the land, it doesn't belong to the king of Sodom. It belongs to Abraham, because he went to fight to recover everything. And when Abraham came back, the Bible says he gave the tenth part of all. Now the word all is very important. In Hebrews chapter eight, chapter seven, he gave a tenth of all. Abraham was very studious. That means that if Abraham recovered a hundred horses, a thousand horses, he gave a hundred horses. If he took five hundred spears, he set aside fifty. If he took a thousand sheep, he set aside a hundred. If he took a thousand camels, he set aside a hundred. If he took a thousand sandals, shoes, brass, gold, he set aside every tenth. Every tenth, including human beings, because he captured human beings. Those days, human beings were also taken. So he actually gave a tenth of the human beings, every tenth of Melchizedek. He gave a tenth to Melchizedek. He thought, "Oh, what a blessing." And you know Abraham, the kind of golden heart he had? I thought Abraham would gather the rest and go home. He gave the rest to the king of Sodom, because of God's integrity. So that you will not say you have made Abraham rich. My wealth comes from God, it doesn't come from you. So Abraham went away empty-handed for all that he had done. Then, in the next chapter, the Lord God appeared to Abraham in a vision. And said, "Fear not, I am your shield, and your exceedingly great reward." Two things stand out. Shield. Exceedingly great reward. Shield stands for protection. Abraham was afraid that those kingdoms would come back for a fight. So God said, "Don't worry, I'm your shield." But the word "exceedingly great reward," for the first time, the word "reward" here in Hebrew is "salary." The word "reward" here in Hebrew is "salary." The word "reward" here in Hebrew is "salary." Listen, Abraham, I am your salary. Not just your salary, your great salary. Not just your great salary, your exceeding great salary. Hallelujah! No wonder, no wonder in chapter 24, the Bible says Abraham was rich in all things. He became so wealthy that first it was said he was rich in gold, in cattle, and in silver. Then he became rich in all things. You know, Abraham, you know what the titan does? Titan gives you divinely inspired ideas. Titan entitles you to creative, divinely creative ideas. That is why in Malachi, the Bible says, in the blessing of the titan, you shall be a delight some land. To be a delight some land means that everybody wants to invest in you. Everyone becomes interested in you. You become favored. You become the favorite of many. They want to bring investment to you. Everyone wants to come around you. Everyone wants to give and to invest in you because you have become a delight some land. Abraham took over. He took monopoly of the cattle industry. He had the largest cattle ranch of his day. That in those days, if you wanted cattle, you had to go to Abraham. He became so wealthy and his wealth descended to his posterity because his posterity also tithed. No wonder Jacob tithed. And Isaac was the inventor of the irrigation system of farming. He invented irrigation. You know what? Giving gives us divinely inspired ideas and creative inspired ideas. Praise God. That is a blessing of tithing. For instance, you've heard of Henry Ford. Henry Ford, he, his company was the Ford Motor Company. Yeah, he founded the Ford Motor Company. You know the Ford, Henry Ford. But for your information, he was a farmer. He was a farmer. And he began to practice giving 10% to God. So all his farm produce, he would separate that 10% and send it to church. He would separate. 10% and send it to church. And he began to experience the blessing. The blessing. The blessing. Until he became a billionaire and founded so creative inspired ideas. God gives you ideas. It's one of the blessings of the covenant. Until he became a billionaire and owned the Ford Motor Company. You've heard of Sam Walton. Sam Walton founded the Walmart malls. It's in the Walmart malls all over America, the Walmart. And he got his wealth, his wealth began through tithing. Walmart was taught how to tithe by his mother. And he was in the first Presbyterian church. He tithed all his life. Actually, he was a Sunday school teacher. Walmart, Sam Walton, according to Forbes, he was the wealthiest man from 1982 to 1988. America's wealthiest from 82 to 88. How many years? Six years. That was Sam Walton. And you know what he used his money for? To sponsor Sunday school movement. And in the height of his wealth, he was still teaching Sunday school. He was still teaching Sunday school. Teaching Sunday school. Sunday school. And this was a man who had tasted, tasted and seen that the Lord is good. All tasted and seen that the Lord is good. My brother, my sister, my mother, we are after the Abrahamic order. We are after the stock of Abraham. We belong to the Abrahamic covenant, not the old covenant. We belong to the Melchizedekian order. Jesus' high priesthood is after the order of Melchizedek. The order that blesses, the order that gives communion and the order that tithes. Then you should say communion has ceased. You can't say communion has ceased. We have to keep taking communion. He gave communion and he received tithe. It's together. We need to take communion consistently from his hand. And in exchange, we call that the Melchizedek exchange. We receive the blessing of health and we give the tithe. In honor of him that you are our source. We are not self-made. We are not on our own. Hallelujah. You know what God said? I will open the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing which you cannot contain. You see, when you give the tithe, as you tend, start speaking the word. Speak the word. Prosperity comes by, like the two sides of a coin, giving and speaking. You give and you speak. You're giving. It's a receipt. In the Bible, the Bible speaks of giving and receipting. Giving and everything you give, heaven issues you a receipt. When I got the revelation of first fruit, when the year began, the money was by my side and I was sleeping. After every hour, I woke up to see whether morning has come. I couldn't wait for morning to come because I knew what the first fruit was. I woke up about five times the night. I was disappointed that morning has not come. I was eager to go and give the first fruit. Hallelujah. Because of that, your celebration is rooted in revelation. I'm telling you. Have you tasted God? He doesn't feel. You see, giving, Papa Sopo says, it is not because I'm desiring something from you, but fruit that will cause your accounts to abound. It glorifies God. God says, I will open the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing, the first time the windows of heaven was opened, there was rain. The Bible says there shall be showers of blessing. Rain speaks of blessing. Showers of blessing. Now, in Psalm 78, when the windows of heaven or the doors of heaven was opened, God gave them manna. God gave them manna. God is more than enough. He's an El Shaddai. Trust him, his ability and his integrity. He gave manna. For the space of 40 days, daily in the wilderness. Can God finish us a table in the wilderness? God can do more. May we not limit the Holy One of Israel. The unlimited God can be limited by your faith or by your unbelief rather. Now, according to rabbinic literature, rabbinic literature tells us that the manna that came in one day could have fed Israel for 2,000 years. The manna that fell in one day could have fed Israel for 2,000 years. It was so huge. When it fell on the ground, the scope, the extent was 2,000 square cubits with a depth of 60 square cubits. It was massive. The rabbis tell us that what came in one day could have fed Israel for 2,000 years. God always gives in excess. Try God and God will, I mean, try Him. You'll be confounded with blessing and with increase. God never fails. He's sure and steadfast. His promises are sure. His word is sure. It can be verified. It can be validated. Hallelujah. So you have to take your tithe and see it as a great privilege from God. If you become addicted, consistent, you begin to see God's blessing. Hallelujah. Lift up your voice and glorify His Holy Name. Thank you, Jesus. Oh, Rabba, Basha, Kata, Labba, Ta. Oh, Rabba, Basha, Kata, Labba, Sota. Thank you, Jesus. Ye, Bala, Basha, Opa, Kata, Kata. If you are a tither, you are a delightsome land. Now, I want you to begin your tithing with revelation. Freshness, this time around, with a greater understanding and meaning and worshiping God with your tithe, knowing it's such a privilege. It's such a privilege. Shoko, Robo, Basha, Kata. Your tithe is a testimony that your high priest is alive. It's alive. And if it's alive, it will be shown in your life. People will see your wealth. When everyone is sinking economically, you'll be rising. It will be an evidence that your priest is alive. Your high priest is alive. You'll be a living witness. Your wealth and prosperity and divine provision will become a sign to many that truly, your high priest is alive. Lift up your voice and just with your hands and glorify God and bless his holy name for such honor and privilege he has accorded us. God can bless you so much that you begin to practice reverse tithing in the future. In the future. In the future, you can have reverse tithing like J.C. Penney. You can have reverse tithing like J.C. Penney. What do you see? As far as your eyes can see. What do you see? Come on, lift up your voice. Receive the vision of God. The vision of God. I want you to plug in to biblical economics. The principles of biblical economics. The systems of this world are failing because we'll never fail. There is heat that scattereth and yet increaseth. Let the liberal soul shall be made fat. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus.

Summary:

No, Jesus did not condemn tithing. He corrected the Pharisees' legalistic attitude and wrong motives, but He said they should not neglect tithing.

The three types were Mesa Rishon (priestly tithe), Mesa Sheni (vacation tithe), and Mesa Eni (charity tithe). Together they totaled about 23.3 percent over a seven-year cycle.

Your tithe is a living witness that Jesus is alive because He is constantly receiving tithes in heaven as our High Priest. It shows His resurrection and ongoing ministry.
