The Trade Targets You Should Be Chasing Before Week 7 (Ep. 2276)

The podcast offers a week-seven fantasy football strategy focusing on key buys and sells. Basel Tune is recommended as a buy due to a low valuation, strong receiving usage potential under Trevor Lawrence, and a favorable schedule after a timeshare with Chris Rodriguez. Garrett Wilson is seen as a valuable, undervalued wide receiver with consistent performance and a strong matchup schedule ahead, despite two poor games. Mecca Ibuka is considered a buy due to increased volume from the new offensive system and a schedule packed with vulnerable defenses. Josh Downs is sold due to consistent underperformance and lack of ceiling, especially in tough matchups like against the Vikings. Tight ends like Dalton Kincaid, Kankade, and Loveland are flagged as volatile, with potential trade value if a breakout occurs. The consensus rankings place Tune at RB 15, highlighting a competitive but fluid tier below the top 12. The hosts emphasize strategic trade decisions based on long-term needs, using tools like the Fantasy Pros Trade Analyzer to evaluate value and risk. The advice is framed for fantasy managers with a focus on avoiding overcommitment to roller-coaster players and prioritizing stability and upside. The episode concludes with a call to action for listeners to use the trade analyzer and support the show via reviews and social media.

Start listening to Scam Goddess on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Let's go, I've got it. Hello, everybody. Welcome to Fantasy Pros. I'm Ryan Wormley, joined by Tara Roberts. We are bringing you some moves to make before week seven, got some buys, some sells, some players to shop. That Tara will be bringing to the table here. Reminder for everybody is always that all of our weekly consensus rankings and tiers can be found at fantasyproz.com/rankings. You can also navigate to our rest of season rankings as well. I will be referencing those on the show today. You can pick the experts, just the guys who have actually updated their rankings since the game's finished. You can get it as up-to-date as possible. That'll be what I'm referencing when I'm referencing rankings on the show throughout today's episode. Tara, let's dive right in here with a buy. We're gonna buy, yeah, we're gonna buy Basel Tune. We'll start with a happy buy. I think now is the perfect time to get in and get a possibly a little low ball, but a reasonable offer on Basel Tune. The manager in your league might be thinking that they're selling high off of the fantastic game from a fantasy perspective. And I can also see why it I have seen in terms of comments all throughout social media that there is a little bit of panic and that might incentivize people to sell currently on Basel Tune. Because he did appear to be in a blatant timeshare with Chris Rodriguez in this week's game in terms of carries. Basel Tune had 12 carries for 39 yards. The bulk of his fantasy production came through receptions. Having four receptions for 48 yards and a couple of receiving touchdowns. Chris Rodriguez did look fantastic on the ground, particularly early. This was not something that became a second half occurrence. He was involved very early. 11 carries for 55 yards. So when we're looking at the potential for buying in on Basel Tune, we're buying out of buy week. They have a week seven buys. So whoever roster was Basel Tune could also be maybe a little bit paranoid about a potential timeshare could be a need of something to help get them through the buy week. And this was a season high in terms of touches for Chris Rodriguez. So when we're comparing these backs that we were looking at during the off season, that panic might be seeping in of people that were saying Rodriguez, Rodriguez, Rodriguez. But here's the thing. He can't be the three down back in this offense. We know that for sure, he has not been utilized from a receiving perspective. He has one reception on the season. Tune is the lead back. And this game was the fewest carries that he had had all season. So he's got no issue with overall productivity and really the main thing in terms of why I'm willing to buy in, no matter honestly what the cost is, is that we're going to come back from the buy week with a very friendly schedule. So friendly that it should be providing tons of touchdown opportunities. And this receiving usage couldn't inspire more receiving usage for him. Because if you look at Trevor Lawrence and Travis ETN last season, Trevor Lawrence is not a check down heavy quarterback. It makes sense. But he's an intentional quarterback when it comes to receiving. So Travis ETN last year got to a really nice rhythm in the back half of the season where he was having significant meaningful receptions. He had five receiving touchdowns in the back half of the season. So I have the confidence that Tutan can replicate that production. And I think this is a nice buy and opportunity. I think it's a really interesting stretch of the consensus stress of season rankings at RB 13, Jalen Warren, RB 14, Chuba Hubbard, RB 15, Basel Tutan. It feels to me like the top 12 is somewhat solidified. And when you get past that 13 to 15 range, I feel like it's pretty obviously guys that we wouldn't put in that grouping. But that trio of Warren, Hubbard, and Tutan, I think you could find people ranking in different ways. Do you have Tutan at the top of that? Do you think he belongs at the bottom, which is where he is in consensus? If you had one of those guys, even if it's maybe not the biggest upgrade in the world, would you look to trade one of them for Tutan? And how are you approaching that range? Chuba is not someone that I would want to move just because, again, there's no committee there, but you know, at some point, supposedly maybe we can have Jonathan Brooks back, but he's really the workhorse of that offense. So I would take the guaranteed volume even though he does have a little bit rougher schedule. But over a guy like Jalen Warren, absolutely. That's one of the ones that I would flip with very easily because you can look at it and say, okay, two guys in a committee. One has a much higher ceiling in terms of proof of use from Jalen Warren. So you could get somebody that's really pumped about that and say, yeah, I'll take Jalen Warren, you know, better situation maybe. But Rico Doudel's return, I think, is really just what we saw last week. It's maybe just the baseline. I think it's going to get back to a committee even though, you know, we heard from Mike McCarthy. Like, hey, no, you know, Warren, we'll stick with him. I think he's flipping in terms of which direction he can go on a weekly basis. I don't think he'll stick to that. I feel a lot more comfortable with Basel Tutan. I could even maybe go for flipping a chase brown, honestly, because the production has been so underwhelming and while he's theoretically in the better offense, it's a heavy receiving touchdowns offense. So I could lean towards Basel Tutan's way on that one. - Let's go to your next buy here. - My buy is Garrett Wilson. I believe we talked about him, but I thought it would be nice to revisit. I think it was a few weeks ago. It's very simple. With this one, we're just putting out our feelers to see if there's any panic in some Garrett Wilson over the emergence of Omar Cooper. Returning from injury, rookie breakout. This is not the first rookie breakout we've seen. We saw it with Ken Yon City. If we've got Ad and I Mitchell, that should be coming back as well. So there might be some willingness to move, Garrett Wilson below his value. And quite frankly, he's one of those guys where I think he's just naturally undervalued because of the perception of the Jets. There are just times, unfortunately, when Wilson will have a dud game. It's happened a couple of times this season. Week four against Chicago. That was really just a dreadful day from Geno Smith. He quite literally completed eight passes. And then week six was just an overall, underwhelming game, just from a fantasy perspective, because of the breakout from Cooper. But outside of those two games, we have seen excellent usage from Wilson all season long. And he's shown the ability to get it done in a wide variety of ways. Like when you think about him traditionally in previous seasons, you think about, OK, he's high volume. He needs targets. He needs 150 volume volume volume. But we've seen him get it done in terms of having high targets and receptions, doing so by lower receptions and higher yardage, getting it with the touchdowns. So I like the varied usage that we've seen out of him this season. And I feel like he's kind of in that no man's land territory of players where it's easy to make the argument of flipping him and he's great for combo trade as well. When you're looking ahead towards the playoff schedule, that's really the only issue that we have. Week 15 is Arizona. Week 16 is New England, followed by Minnesota and championship week. So obviously this risk does not come without-- this move does not come without risk. So you need to make this trade in terms of having your long-term vision in mind. But I think an interesting target in terms of the fantasy manager that should make this trade as someone with a losing record. You don't need to be worried about what you are doing in the playoffs. You just need to get to the playoffs. You need a player that can deliver those boom games over the next several weeks that can get you some wins and get you on track rather than a contender that's looking to stock up for the playoff season. You started to hit on it. What is the price that feels appropriate here? Not even just like what would you be willing to pay, but what's a good initial offer? What's an offer that is maybe can get you a good value feels like, but you're willing to go more in the course of a negotiation. How would you start a conversation about Garrett Wilson, right now, who in consensus rankings is why do you see where 16 rest of season? So my initial thought with this was, I'm like Evans. I love Mike Evans. I know that everybody loves Mike Evans. And when we talk about Mike Evans, it can get a little bit touchy because when he is on the field, he is undeniably the best receiver on the field. Age doesn't matter. He is fantastic. But he's just been dealing with these nagging injuries that don't seem to go away. We know that for two seasons in a row, something has happened. And whether or not those are age-related injuries, no, some of them weren't, but two seasons in a row, we've seen him not play a full season dealing with injuries. When you combine that with the age, you start to get a little bit concerned that every week we're looking at him as a potential game time decision out of team that is quite often in prime time games. So I could look at that one and make that kind of flip. I think that one is a little bit closer in value, but still a reasonable trade to make. One more buy at the Y receiver position they have for us here. It is a Mecca Ibuka. I went back and forth on this one, because clearly, the past two games could definitely be considered fool's gold on him. They've been heavy target games. And unfortunately, they have not been heavy yardage games. He had one with a total of 13 receptions. The yardage in one game was 38 yardage in the next game, 48. Obviously, he scored a touchdown in both of those games. One came via the run. But the lack of yardage is concerning. But it's not as if anybody else is lighting it up from a yardage perspective. So it's one of those situations where you've got a wide receiver one. He's finally seeing volume. And you wonder if now is the time that you buy in, because the perception is still very low. You're not buying high on this guy whatsoever in terms of value. Even though he is coming off of his two strongest games, there's still a lot of skepticism around this offense led by a rookie. We're going to have Baker Mayfield come back. What do we really see when Baker comes back? because when we have. Baker on the field. It wasn't great. It was just the epitome of mediocrity getting in PPR 10 to 11 fantasy points of games. So this shift in volume is super encouraging. But I don't think it's actually super specific to Jalen Daniels. We got to remember that this is a new system under Zach Robinson whose offensive coordinator 10 year has been a little shake-in general throughout his entire career. So perhaps they've been working through some kinks figuring stuff out. They did vocally state that they knew that they had to get more volume to both Ameka Ibuka and Chris Godwin. So they stated it. They came out and the result was they absolutely sent more volume that way. So I think that will stick when Baker Mayfield comes back. So I don't know why they would pivot from that direction. And obviously there is that risk. But really and truly the schedule ahead is what makes this a lot easier to buy in. If you're wondering and you're on the fence and thinking this is not something that I want to get into. They have a very injured Carolina secondary in week seven. Then they've got an injured Atlanta secondary. They've got a very beatable Chicago secondary after that by week followed by Detroit and Carolina again. So while there's a couple of questionable matchups after that. It's an overall positive schedule and good playoff schedule with the exception of championship week, which is the Rams. So at worse, your floor is Baker Mayfield bringing them back down to 10 to 12 fantasy points and at best, we get this offense going in a positive direction and good matchups and continue to see that volume increase and hopefully the yardage comes along with it. It feels like a tough player to rank rest of season. Why does he were 29 right now? The names around him, AJ Brown, Rishi Rice, Terry McClure, and other three names ahead of him. And then behind him, DJ Moore, Jalen Coker, Cardinal Tate, kind of a really interesting grouping there. Where where's your rank for you? Like rest of season, what what feels right is that it's 29 to high too low or just right. I think it's just like a wee bit too low. But I don't think it's egregious. Like I could have him at wide receiver 25 at max. If I was being super optimist, that was like a super optimistic ranking. Wide receiver 25 would be where I would put him. So I think it's an appropriate range. I don't think people are overreacting, which again, buys, you know, sells a buyer helps us with credence in terms of buying in on him off of these good games and it not actually being a buy high because where he is valued is still extremely reasonable for the upside of him being the wide receiver one in that offense. Hi, I'm selling Josh Downs like every now and then guys. I hit you with one of those. You're just going to sell to get out. Everything can't be a sell high. Wait on it. I mean, we talked about it with Jalen Waddle last week like that. You might miss your window if you keep on waiting in what happened. Like now he, you know, subpar game is expected. Got banged up. Does that carry on through? Does it does it feel a little bit worse as he, you know, goes throughout the week? We'll see. But everything can't be wait for the high game and get out. Sometimes you just have to get out when it's clearly a, a really detrimental situation. Unfortunately, we got the news of the changes that they're making Chris Ballard got fired. But we're selling Josh Downs on this one. Look, the Josh Downs experiment in terms of hoping for this upside has been a nightmare failing to hit double digit fantasy points in a game where there was no Tyler Warren was really the last straw of any kind of hope that we can have. Do whatever you can to get out of that situation. And it probably means you can't do a one for one trade. It's probably going to have to be a package situation. We have had more than enough evidence that this ceiling is not just there. It's not. We've seen him in difficult matchups. Were there chasing points and easy matchups with their chasing points and games where everyone is healthy and games where players are missing. We've seen it all in no matter how you cut it. He's just not succeeding. The upcoming schedule is Minnesota and Jacksonville. After that, there are some layups. But again, what we're really waiting for the layups to be able to get out of this. We just saw him in a layup match against Tennessee. And it is what it is. And really and truly, his role doesn't seem to benefit no matter who is out. Unfortunately. And I think we, you know, we fill it off. He has a good comp, right? We saw Demonte Smith go down and we did not see a role change for McCoy lemon, right? We didn't see a role change or in the shift in volume for Don Tavian wicks. So sometimes players don't benefit in the same way that you see a Jeremy Bernard benefit because players go down, right? They just are what they are. Unfortunately, and Josh Downs is what it is at this point. Keenan Allen is the one that is really benefiting specifically from Alex Pearce's injuries. So short and sweet, guys just get out while you can for whatever you can. Yeah, I, uh, this one's interesting to you because like it's not even just the timing of what they most recently do. It's also the schedule facing the Vikings this week and how difficult a matchup that is defensively. I can't imagine this cold's offense performing too well against them. And so then it's almost, I almost wonder if it's like it's way in a week to sell him not because you think he's going to have a good week with them, but then you can just point to the schedule. Like well, of course he did badly. It was the Vikings. Now look at what's coming up with Dallas and Miami, you know, the Giants coming up soon and everything. So like that's me just kind of grasping his straws here. Obviously, it's not going to be that easy to sell him for a huge return at this point, regardless. But yeah, I don't disagree for a lot philosophically at all with the idea of just get out of it, right? Like you don't want to ride this roller coaster. It's not very likely to get much better. And you know, just take what you can get. But I it's it's always hard to know what these these types, I think there's the most sometimes most important traits to make is like the sell lows, right? But I it is hard to know what the right value is to get back. Yeah, the good thing is is that there's a lot of guys that are roller coaster guys, but at least their roller coasters and better offenses. Like can you can you scam someone out of a Roma Dune say I would rather have that 10 times over because at least he's attached to Caleb Williams. I you know, you can even attach to someone that's a sketchy quarterback. I, you know, try a KC conception. He, you know, continues to get a volume. He ascends. Yeah, Dashaam Watson is occasionally matchup dependent. But we're talking about young talent that is on the field for a very high amount of snaps and can ascend in the back half of the season. There's yeah, there's there's things that you can flip down to potentially that are rollercoastery, but better chances. Roma Dune say and Josh nouns are back to back in consensus rest of season rankings. So that based on those rankings, at least feels doable. I with you, I for me, that's easy. I'd rather have a Dune say you've got a couple players to shop before you get out of here. Yes, we are going to shop around some tight ends, tight ends are not always the easiest because their value is just going to naturally be lower, but we're going to shop around Dalton, Kincaid and Coulson, Loveland just to call it in an exploratory cell on these guys to try and figure out how your league is looking at them and whether or not you can move them right now or is it a situation where, okay, let me give it a second, get a couple of, you know, maybe get another good game because this is different than these two guys are very different than a Josh Down situation or even like a Jalen model situation where it's like, okay, I'm genuinely sketched out, right? These are two guys where you can realistically hold this week and see if they hit one more time next week because it's not matchup dependent, it's not really situational. You can just say, okay, let me just put it out there, see what I got, see if anyone is interested, maybe one more good game happens and then I make that move. So it's not a panic cell here. The difference with these guys is that they do have high ceilings and we know that we've seen that in the past. So you can hold if you need to, but put it out there just to see, Kankade is on a buy so he's not really usable right now. So again, you know, when he returns after the buy week, we're probably going to see him with DJ Moore. So there's inherent risk in terms of him being a high ceiling guy and a super low floor guy and inconsistency on a week to week basis inconsistent pass volume in the Buffalo offense. You can use him, but honestly, there are times where you're just going to feel super uncomfortable and get a goose egg in your lineup. Unfortunately, same deal with Loveland. Again, lots of bodies in that offense pass volume is definitely more consistent with Caleb Williams, but at the end of the day, he can send it any one's direction on a given week and you're hoping that we'll get to what we had last season, but we don't, we might not necessarily do that for all we know next week. Again, it could be a Roman Wednesday week. We could have a higher target share to an ascending Luther bird. And that could be someone who was pushing forward and Loveland remains a week to week kind of question mark for us. So hey, look around. See if you can leverage guys that are emerging. Some of those younger players, rookie players emerging, see how people feel. I think the rest of season rankings are appropriate because really and truly, the guys that are behind them are just as inconsistent. It's just that these offer more name value that you could potentially get something out of. What's the offer that you get back where you go? Okay, this is like enough for me. Like I was open to it. And now this is a no brainer. I'm definitely making this trade. What comes to mind? I could do it. So let's say that someone offered you a Dallas Goddard and paired it up with an actual usable asset. I could, I could get on board with that for both guys. Yeah, for, yeah. For both guys, you know, I, I think about the Pittsburgh receivers like let's say that someone picked up Jeremy Bernard and we feel good about him ascending his role-sticking rest of season. Honestly, I could think about that if we were pairing it up with someone else as well. So yeah, it's going to be a situational thing where it's just about what works for your roster. But I think there are logical moves out there that you could make to move off of these volatile assets that you would just be streaming with other options that are ranked after them. Like Harold [BLANK_AUDIO] and junior and whatnot and move on to something at another position that could help you out. We'll go ahead and wrap things up there. Thanks everybody for checking out. FAQs

Basel Tun is a strong buy due to a low valuation driven by panic around a timeshare with Chris Rodriguez. He remains the lead back with consistent production and a favorable schedule ahead, including high-opportunity matchups. His receiving usage is expected to increase, similar to past trends with Travis Etienne.

Garrett Wilson is undervalued despite recent dips due to Omar Cooper’s breakout. He has strong, varied fantasy production and a solid schedule ahead, making him a good buy or trade target for managers prioritizing consistent upside over risk.

Ibuka has seen increased volume from the team’s new offensive system, with a clear plan to boost his targets. His schedule includes easy matchups against injured defenses, which supports strong upside despite inconsistent yardage in recent games.

Yes, consider selling Josh Downs due to inconsistent performance, lack of ceiling, and a difficult schedule including matchups against the Vikings and Dallas. His role has not improved significantly, making him a risky asset to hold.

A reasonable initial offer is a player like Mike Evans, who has a proven ceiling but injury concerns. This trade balances risk and reward, especially for managers focused on short-term gains and playoff positioning.

The upcoming schedule favors players with matchups against injured or weak defenses, such as the Carolina and Atlanta secondary. This makes buys like Ibuka and Tun more attractive, while weak matchups hurt players like Downs.
