The Time Logie Nominations Rocked Our World- Ep 158
57m 9s
The podcast hosts begin by acknowledging audience criticism of their recent political discussions and commit to a lighter episode focused on funny stories and prompts. They introduce a "Cosantino prompt hat" filled with conversation starters to maintain a whimsical tone. The hosts address the absence of co-host Luke, who is on tour, and jokingly suggest that listeners could sabotage his career to force his return, though they clarify this is a joke. The conversation shifts to travel stories, including a discussion about Greek bathroom customs where toilet paper is placed in bins due to old plumbing infrastructure. This leads to a debate on bidets versus traditional wiping, with one host expressing fear of bidets while another advocates for their cleanliness. The episode culminates in a humorous rant from Blake about being overlooked for a Logie Award nomination for his performance in "Deadlock," despite his belief in his stellar portrayal of a disabled character. He speculates a conspiracy against him, while co-hosts tease him about his expectations. Throughout, the hosts maintain a self-aware, comedic tone, poking fun at themselves and their audience's feedback.
[Music] Sorry we thought you guys would like this more than the political chat that we do every week when it looks not on the pod. Is it that? Yeah, it's truly taking over the world in a bad way. Yeah, listen guys, we've heard your feedback. There were comments left that were interesting to say the least. I'm sorry that we voiced your opinion. And as host of this podcast decided to talk about something that we wanted to talk about, that was our bad. We've heard the feedback this week. We're going Goofs, Gags, Funny Stories, I only. Goofs, Gags and Gizmos. Goofs, Gags, Gizmos and Giddles, Gidzee, Vanden. And listen, to make sure that we don't wander off the path, I've prepared something for this pod. And I'm going to say preparation, what's that? Here, I have the breaking case of emergency, Cosantino prompt hat. And basically what I've done with it is I've come up with a bunch of prompts myself. Cosantino as in the Australia's got talent magician from 2011. Correct, yes. We have two of his hats for some reason. And not two different hats, two of these hats exactly. But what I've done with is I've sat down and thought to myself two things. And I thought, what are good prompts for conversation that could get good stories out of my pod, Cosco, Hosepite Baby, I'm a pod. And the other thing I thought is, what prompts can I get off the subreddit, our slash social skills? And so I've combined a few best stovs from both of those sort of think tanks. And so just in case we get to a point where we're thinking, gosh, we need to humble ourselves and give the audience what they want, this mindless slop story through our paths. Yes. We can whip out the Cosantino hat and pull out a prompt. But today we're going to keep it fun, we're going to keep it light. And you guys too, there's another thing that you guys always comment sometimes. Well, I would say if we go back and look at the history of our pod year, which we're up to like episode 158 or something like that. Something like that. We've done a few episodes now. It's not our first rodeo. I would say more often than not, we've had episodes with all three of us. Then there'll be episodes of just TC and BP. And then maybe after that it's like TC and LK. Yeah. And then it's after that it's like, I think that's maybe three episodes total of LK BP. I think one of them may have even been deleted and we just did something else because you guys were doing it in New York or something in fell asleep or something like that. Yeah, and I was too scared to tell him that I'd shed my pants. And he was too scared to tell me that he shed his pants. So there was an emotional friendship wall that had been placed up between both of you that stopped the pod from fully reaching its potential. Yeah. So anyway, insane that. You guys always go like, oh man, the Luke Mike was so fun that week where you gave the third Mike, the Kanye Mike Luke's voice. And yes, I agree. I miss Lukey as well. We miss him dearly. He brings a flavor of blissful ignorance to so many topics that keep the show whimsical. We like to be whimsical. But it's hard to leave the house and look at the state of the world and not feel the opposite of whimsy. Sometimes I look in the mirror and I think this is so fucked up. And I tell you who his fucking phone it is. It's the fucking Labor government's fault. Shout out any past friends or past girl or future friends of the show. Sorry, I didn't want to do that. I didn't want to go back into my into my impression of people who have been on this pod who have gotten an Instagram crash head against the Labor government. Sometimes we've got to give shit to our good mate Eden McGuatherne. Yes, good. It sounded just like her. But my thing is, here's the two things that I have to say to you guys about like, oh, where's Luke? Bring Luke back. Okay, first thing that you need to do is, look what B here if he wanted to be. That's what's best. So, here's what you need to do. Either there's two paths you can take to get Lukey back on the pod. The first path is just be passive and patient and wait for him to return because the only reason he's not on the pod is because he's on tour. He's on the road and I'm not with him. Usually I would go with either Blake or Luke and we would record on the road and then I would edit the pod because I'm the only one on this podcast who knows how cameras work, how recording devices work, what editing is. So, if I don't have my hand and it doesn't happen, I want you guys to understand that first. Secondly, so you can either be patient, that's the first part. Or the second path that you guys can take to get Luke back on the pod. Sabotage. Sabotage is career. Man, I got friggin' tagged in a video the other day. I went on to my TikTok mentions and it was someone in a very supportive comment towards me and Luke. And she said, she said, she said, "Lukeyjul and Blake Pavia both legends who deserve the recognition and love they receive. They stand on business." No. Now I didn't know what that video was implying and it was this lady going, "The caption is, "You hate men? No. I love men who refuse to stay silent about misogyny." I was at that one that has like an edit of Luke in it. It's got an edit of Luke in the head. Yeah, that's an awesome video I've seen that too. And yeah, so if you see videos like that, maybe just let's make the conversation go in a different direction. Maybe let's make up some shit to get Lukey back on the pod. Yeah, so what I'm saying to you guys is, here's the thing. He is too successful, he's too good at his job, he makes too much money, he literally supports an entire group of people's incomes and livelihoods by funding the business that we work for. And so when he's on the road and not here on the pod, it's because he's got all these additional stresses and responsibilities on top of his normal touring schedule. So if you're wanting back on the pod, ruin his career, ruin my career too, because I literally leach off him for my daily salary. So if you guys ruin his career and getting back on the pod, I mean, sorry, if you ruin his career, you will get him back on the pod. If we can do it for Jamie Kennedy, we can do it for Luke Kijul as well. If you're sitting here listening to that thinking who the fuck is Jamie Kennedy, exactly. Exactly. Now before you fucking actually go and do any of that stuff, because I'm sure, actually I know for a fact there's some smooth brain interlaced that listens to this podcast. Before you go, "Ugh, my close personal friend's Blake Pavey and Totally Care will tell me to cancel Luke Kijul, that was a joke." Just to come on my tracks, because it is fun to say things, that was a joke. That was something we haven't said in a while. What? It's fun to say things. That's a good catchphrase to the pod. It is fun to say things. You know what's fun to say especially? It's really fun to say things that we want to say. Yeah. Really fun to say those things. But because you guys had a hard time with us making fun of shit fuck pulling hands on last week on the pod, we're going to keep it light and fun. I just have to preface that this week for you guys. We're going to keep it light and fun. Two things Gina Reinhardt is not. Okay, that was very good. We're going to cap it there. Cap it there. Cap it there. But very good and very true. Guys, welcome back to the pod. We have cooked up what is maybe going to be, and it is fun to say stuff. I think it's going to be our best episode of all time. And you can come back to this, when you get to the end of the episode, and you can come back and you can be like Blakey, Time Stamp. You said that at 10 minutes and 48 seconds, that it was going to be the best episode of all time. You're really close with that time stamp. What are we at? We're at 10 minutes and 30 seconds, but the camera kept fucking up. So I'm going to say that we're actually at like seven or six minutes or something. Well, you can say you can come back and whatever the time stamp is, you can be like, "Oh my God, you were right when you said it was going to be the best episode of all time." And you know what? To just to play devil's advocate here, I'm going to say right now that it's not even in the top 50 episodes. Really? I'm going to say right here, and I don't want to be pessimistic, but I feel like it would be rude to not have all three of us in the top 50. I'm trying to think, is there a sure fight? I think there's a couple episodes of my personal favorite episode of the podcast. Maybe that's what we should turn this pod into. We've been trying to like sort of like, you guys might not know this, but it is hard to sort of get us three in a room all at the same time when looks on tour. I'm on tour of vice versa. So we always try to innovate this podcast for about 10 minutes and then we just go, "Ah, I got nothing." So I think a way we could do that maybe to be the first podcast that's still going and then to do like, you know how all the high school musical people and like the modern family people do like a reminiscent's podcast about the thing that they were doing? They did like a clip show. Yeah. Yeah, well they go back and just go, "Remember this time we did this?" Yeah. We should go back through all their episodes from like 160. Do you know what? I think we've talked about this before. We've had this idea, we've kicked it around, and the ultimate thing that we came to was that that would take probably two or three days of my time. And you guys would just be like, "Yeah, just tell us which of the episodes." I will tell you which episodes we remember being good or which bits, but then you've got to go ahead and edit them together. And so to me, I was like, "Okay, that's a good idea, but I'll need two or three days to commit to that." Do you know what I mean? Yeah, I would hate that. I would hate that a lot. But I'm happy to do it. Listen, if you guys want a clip show episode, then we could do that as like a special bonus or something maybe. Yeah. I don't know, maybe. I don't mind that idea, but we'll just go back and listen to the episodes. Oh, no, because we've got to get the retention up on the new episodes. We have to remind them of what they first loved about us before we became jaded and withered. Anyway, fucking love you boys. Dude, over the weekend, me returned. She was abroad. Oh yeah, how was Greece? Dude, she had the time of her life. She was in Amsterdam for a week, and then she was in Greece for two weeks with her family. She got cousins, you remember? Did she partake? Partake in a little bit of. If you're in the gonger, if you're listening to this in Australia, then no way. If you're listening to this in Deutschland, in Amsterdam? Yeah. Maybe a little bit. Is Amsterdam Deutschland? I don't know.
It's Dutch, right? It's Deutschland Dutch? No, Deutschland is Germany. Is it really? Yeah. Oh, well, there you go. I don't know, dude, I don't know geography. That's probably one of the biggest, I would say my biggest character fault is not knowing geography and being a huge scumbag. But anyway, yeah, she got back from her travels abroad. She brought back with her like 14 bottles of olive oil and olives. She's like obsessed with olives and she brought these olive oil back and people-- Alay loves olives as well. I'm not about it. I know it's one of those things where you love me, hate them, but I don't really like olives. I find them so overpowering. You have an olive on a pizza, a vegan taste. Yeah, I hate it. What does Mike should be more expensive? I disagree. Anyway, she brought back all these bottles of olive oil. And we're kind of talking about a bunch of the differences between the Greek and Australian culture and what she had to adjust to. And she informed me that in Greece-- and again, I haven't followed this up online. I don't know if this is a real thing. If there's just a thing she experienced with the people who were she was at. But in Greece, you don't flush toilet paper. You wipe and put it in the bin next to you. In your shitty toilet paper? Yes. Because the infrastructure and the pipe systems in Greece are so old and shitty that if you flush toilet paper, it can fuck up the pipe systems. I'm like, there hasn't been any developments in hundreds of years to improve the cities in the last year with a bit of pool in the fucking city of the country. No, I fucked it. I fucked it. No, no, come on. Do it again. Add it in. Yeah. Well, you did-- OK. We're going to go again. So let's go from your last sentence. And you'll definitely not add-- and you'll definitely add it in. Oh, yeah. What did I say? Something about the pipe. I'm so happy about the pipe. There's been no development. Oh, there's been no development or in the infrastructure of the piping systems of Greece for the last couple of hundred years. I tell you, man, the last point that I had a bit of bloody pool on Greece's infrastructure must have been Zeus. All right, now I'm not editing any of that. [LAUGHTER] I'm not editing any of that. And now the list is here. What if we go through? I think it may be when you have, like, 28 halloumi fries before you rip a port. It actually fucks with your cognitive function. Your brain starts to melt inside. Yeah, sure. Because if they don't fucking-- That's really just like-- They just like beating-- But what are they doing? Where do they-- It goes in the bin that they take the bin out, like you would any other rubbish. But I was just like-- but surely, like, every bathroom would just smell like shit. Yeah. Yeah, apparently it does. Apparently that's just the way they do it over there. Maybe I should move to Greece. I think that could ruin your life. Is it funny how little societal changes could just completely change the way you see the world? Yeah. But imagine the world in upgrade it must be to come here or to go anywhere else in the Western world, where you can just flush the paper. You just wipe and drop. We don't really take our-- Some people might argue, you know, Japan's the most evolved. They're so far ahead. They've developed so much technology. Yeah, but it's like, we also have our advancements too. We flush out to other paper. Yeah. If I put a piece of paper on my asshole and it's all shitty and poopy, it's going straight down the drain. Well, to be fair, in Japan, they kind of just wipe out the middle man, don't they? Well, that's true. I mean, there you go. They're even further ahead of the game. Again, they just shoot the water straight up the hole and you'll see you later. I'm really scared of that to be completely honest. When you got to Japan? Yeah, I'm really scared of a bidet. I went to a Korean restaurant in Hawthorne the other night and they had a bidet. Oh, really? Did you? I did use it and it felt weird. I think that they're so good. If I could have something shoved up my ass twice a day, I would water bass, obviously. Sorry, let me clarify. If it was water going up there, then I would absolutely do it. Yeah. I find it-- It makes more logical sense for cleanliness too. I think you're going to combo it. Do a little bit of paper, hit the bidet, combo it, give it a wipe down and dry it up. Yeah. What are your thoughts? I don't know. I feel like we're going to go one of the other. So when you use the bidet, you only went the water? Yeah, went the water and then sort of like-- Like a testing technique. And you just hope for the best? Yeah, kind of drives itself out. Yeah, but you didn't even do like a check. You didn't do a check wipe just to vibe check it. I could-- Oh, well, I couldn't feel the water anymore. I think that that's fucking bold, man. And I also have my asshole waxed every morning at 8 AM. So nothing-- There's no drip factor whatsoever. OK, fair enough. What, I'm-- Tyler-- I'm tight now, you're Blake. [LAUGHTER] I'm Tyler. Man, I'm-- I'm human, man. What would you do? Look, I know-- you guys know that you guys all know I'm in the industry. Yeah, and everyone remembers that. You guys all know that I was pretty much-- so I was next in line to be-- Yeah, that's like your thing, dude. It's like everyone knows you was the CF guy in the industry guy. Yeah, yeah. Some people don't even know that you have CF, because they're like, well, this guy works too hard in the industry. There's no way you could do that and have a terminal lung disease as well. Exactly, right. I'm in the industry. And yeah, I think there must have been a glitch on my phone or something like that. And then I went onto my computer. I think there was also a glitch on my computer, because I went on to Instagram, and I saw 2026 log-in nominations came out. Well, that means-- And then I went to my Instagram, and then I clicked on the link on Instagram. And I think the link must have had a glitch at a time. A glitch in your cross the board. Glitching in your cross-- I think it was sort of like a global hack of the log-in's nomination, because-- Well, you didn't preface this with your agent calling you and telling you you'd been nominated. No. And I think his phone must have glitched when he was reading me, because-- I sort of went onto the log-in nominations, Tyler, and I saw that Deadlock, the show that I was in, and pretty much carried three episodes, one to five. One to five, you're not in the later episodes? Well, I five episodes. I wasn't in one episode, because you can't have too much glicking. And I sort of-- I think there must have been a glitch, as I said, because I looked at the Deadlock nominations at the log-ins, and there was very deservingly Kate Box and Madeleine Sammy for Best Actress in a comedy or drama. For Deadlock season two? Yeah, and Best Immor in-- And also, and then I looked on, I was like, oh, OK, here's where it's going to be Best Actor in a comedy drama, OK? Deadlock. OK, here's where I'm going to read Blakey's name. I think they fucked it up. Why is it? Because it was another actor in the show, Steve Beasley, who very well deserved it. I did see from the Kate Box and Madeleine and Sammy nomination, you can nominate two actors from the same show in a category. And I didn't see my name anywhere else. So you're telling me that you actually weren't nominated for a low-key? No, what I think has happened is they've made Robert Irwin the host, and he's tried to blackmail me because he's a can't. Wait, wait, wait, wait, pause. Pause, listen. Let's get vulnerable for a second. What you're saying is that despite the fact you had a stellar performance, acting performance, as Troy portrayed in Deadlock Season 2, you're saying that you weren't nominated for a low-key? I'm saying I think there's a conspiracy against me. Because you weren't. Because if you look at every performance in the history of cinema, Eddie Redmayne for the theory of everything, Daniel Day Lewis for my left foot, Blake Pavey Troy in Deadlock Season 2, what have all those characters gotten common? Sean Pan and Milk in Milk. [laughs] What are all those three characters having common? Stellar performances. Is there people who? The theory of everything. Is there Patrick Stewart or something in that? What's the guy in the wheelchair? Stephen Hawking. Stephen Hawking, yeah. My left foot. Who's in my left? Who's gendered? I haven't seen my left foot. I don't know who the character is, but heaps disabled. Oh, really? That's they're all disabled. So you thought you were going to be a traffic thunder and get nominated. So you thought you'd get your super jack moment. And what's happened is that you, the low-keyed nominations came out and what's. Will the industry just hate straight white men? Yeah, but what I'm trying to figure out so you. When the low-key nominations came out, you. I'm not going to accept that. No, but I just want to know what I'm not fully understanding. Were you not. When the nominations came out for the low-keyes this year, were you? I won the low-key. No, then they haven't happened yet. I won't. I will not. I will not concede defeat. No, I know, but I just want to know. I just want the clarity from you. So the nominations came out. Yep. You weren't there or you were. I'm not fully understanding was. Were you nominated? Well, yeah, I think there was a glitch. I know the glitch, but what did the glitch show you? The glitch did not show me in the nominations. So the glitch said that you said you weren't. You just say you weren't. No, no, no, no. I'm going to January 6th, the star hotel in the Gold Coast on the night of the low-keys. And you're going to do that because you weren't. Because I was cheated out of a low-key nomination. No, I should. I do.
I just want to say you don't, you just say you don't. It's you, me, Von Rwong. I said, this current moment, due to the technical glitch and all the conspiracy against me, I currently do not hold a low-gain nomination for this year. Did you know that for a low-gain? (laughing) Socks to be hated. That was your whole thing, my dears. (laughing) You didn't get no of that. (laughing) You survived. Love that we even had worth. A little bit nominated for something. No, I mean, that's okay. Listen, that's fine. Hey, that happens. It was your first show. Yeah, that's okay. No, that's okay. No, that's not. Yeah. The other dude who did get nominated and there wasn't a glitch that didn't show him and he was on the nominated list, was did he have more screen time than you? I think we had, yeah, yeah, he had more screen time. Oh, well then, you know, don't take it personally. There's a lot more of a connection to the emotional depth of the show. (laughing) Steve, see, this is what, this is what I want to wait because if you had been nominated for a low-gain, then me, when I finally do watch Deadlock Season 2, it would be all the sweeter for it, knowing like, wow. This is a low-gain nominated performance. But now that I know that you're not a lot of nominated, glitch or not, glitch or not, glitch. But now that I know that you're not nominated, it kind of feels like, wow, I can just watch this and for my own opinion. So, yeah. In a way, it's kind of freeing. Oh, I like them. So guys, we're gonna need a rally, the people, I think. We're gonna get, we're not gonna start an insurrection 'cause we're still holding out for an invite to the low-gis. Yeah. Hopefully, maybe I can get a picture with you. Yeah, do you think you can get an invite to the low-gis? I think I'll get an invite. Do you think the cast of an A, do you think we'll be at the low-gis? Oh, and I will be getting really drunk and having a word if so. Yeah, big call us. Yeah. Having got the low-gis, but I think there's an alternative. What's the other day? They announced that Shane Crawford and Kane Corns will be the coaches of the All Stars team in the EJWidden Legends match. Oh, that's one that Hughesy got. That's the one that Hughesy played. Ben and half four. Yes, exactly. You're split and half us, yeah. Kane Corns and Shane Crawford have made a call out for influencers to join their team. Oh, nice. So you want to go play that, maybe? I would like to go play in that. Dude, can we get Lukey in there, too? Does he want to do it in his own? I would like me to look at him maybe on opposite teams. Give a bit of a, because we're always on the same team. I want to see how we go against each other. That's true. Set the boys in a bit of friendly competition against him. Exactly. So, do these referees, could I apply for that? You could apply to be a referee. Maybe a scorekeeper. Maybe a streamer. Like goal, umpire? Yeah, someone like that. I used to do that for one game and I fucking hate it. He's just never went back. I tell you what, uh, what made after my John Cena record attempt, I reckon you would have got the bloody scores wrong. It wasn't for me and we knew that. We've had for a long time. So go, everybody go to Kane Corn's Instagram, I think he collabed the post and go tag me in it. Go get the word out there because I want to puncture my lung and then be able to go on a stand-up comedy tour about it for the next year. I want to be a huge 2.0. And you're already pretty close to that. Yeah. I think it's awesome that, you know what, it's character development and I think, Blakey, that you've happily settled instead of taking a low gear and award for your hard work in the creative field. You've gone, just let me play a footy game instead. I'll settle for that. But is that also maybe putting yourself as an implication of being a legend, do you think? I do. Because it's the Legends game. So if you're saying put me in a Legends game, it's kind of like you being like, I am a legend. Oh, I tell you what, mate, Prime tried and got a game last year and he's definitely got the fucking opposite of a legend. That's true. Prime dream sucks massive time. That's true. Prime dream does suck. Yeah. Fuck all right. We'll get around it. Go tag Blakey. Let's get him in the Legends game. I'm so down for that. No, I went and saw a disclosure day last night. I walked into that movie with a little bit of, I didn't have a lot of faith because I just like, I saw, if you've seen the trailer, they show what the alien looks like. Oh, do they? Yeah. And it's a trailer. It's just the like most generic like big green, big eyes alien ever. And I was like, oh, why are we like one showing the alien in the movie about disclosing that aliens exist? Like, wouldn't that be a cool thing to see in the cinema? Yeah. Anyway, so I was a little bit worried because I was worried that Spielberg would like lost his source a little bit. Yeah. Every director has a few stinkers too. What's like a good, what's like a, what's like Spielberg stinker? I don't think I can even name like. Yeah. He's had a few that I've been. I read Final One's not great, is it? Yeah, I already played at one's not the best. I forgot that it was even him. But yeah, no, disclosure day was good. I like a good, it was good with like, it was a nice like classic sci-fi shot on modern cameras and it was really nice. And like Coleman Domingo is just like a warm hug of a human being to watch his brain. Yeah, he's dude, he's in everything. Is he the maker? Yeah, he's really career's popping off. Dude, you know how people have like Pedro Pasquale fatigue? Why objectively get the opposite of that from Coleman Domingo? Every time you're seeing him, you just love seeing him. Yeah, he's like a warm hug every time I see him on screen. I like wanting to be my uncle or my grandmother in a weird way. He looks like he could be. He's in the season of Euphoria too, isn't he? Yeah. He pops up everywhere. He's in the first season of Euphoria as well. Is he really? Yeah. I don't remember that. But yeah, at the end of Euphoria, I just like would read what was happening in every episode just because I don't want to watch the show. Just to know what happened because I watched season one and two. And apparently like Coleman Domingo's character in season one is such a small supporting character. But now because you just fucking blown up since season two and three. Apparently the last two episodes, he's just the main character and everything happens around him. That's awesome. Yeah, he's a really good actor. And you know what's cool about him too? He was like, in his early to mid 50s when he's career really started popping off. Dude, it was crazy. My, I went, when I was seeing my family in Korra over the weekend, I played golf with my brother-in-law and I was like, what are you then up to, man? He goes, oh, I just saw the, I finally watched the Michael Jackson movie. I went, oh, far. Awesome. How are you, man? What do you think of each other? He's freaking Jackson. Coleman Domingo is Joe Jackson. Yeah, Coleman Domingo is Joe Jackson. And then he was just like, yeah, the guy who played Michael was pretty good and just like, fuck, the dude who played the dad, fucking, fucking Idris, fucking awesome. Dude, you're really, oh my god. That's classy. That is classy. But yeah, disclosure day four starts on a little box. Oh, nice. You need to drop in your letterbox reviews on the box. I do. You still had no BLT ads come up to me since I've mentioned, give me your, your letterbox top four. Oh, shit. Maybe there's no BLT ads, but there's no pay for BLT ads. The two, they don't, they don't have the funds for the pay-view shows. It's all right. Never did they do, because they also seemingly have all of the funds for a kid's show. That's true. Yeah. They support us double the fucking ticket price. Well, go on, guys. Come on, dude. Come on, guys. Oh, it'll happen eventually, man. Don't you worry about that. Yeah, I went and saw, because me and backroom saw backrooms, I saw it again. I loved it, dude. I loved that movie. That was so good. But what changed this time was, I took a bit of a, I let my generous side come out, man. My charitable side. Because me and I were at the movies and, you know, I've talked about a lot before. You've got me 48 liters of oil recently. Let me push it, let me put it forward, you know. Let me kick it forward and just give you a little something, something, something great. Great pod. You should go listen to that instead. Definitely move over right now. We were in line, I've talked about it before. My brother loves these popcorn buckets. Yeah. And he had one that got away, which is the Mario Galaxy 2 Yoshi collector's popcorn bucket. No, bro. And when did that movie come out? Probably three months ago. Yeah. We read the movies in line to see backrooms. All right. But ever seeing the Mario ads in Melbourne Central last time I was there. And that was about eight months ago. Yeah. We're in line to see backrooms. And this is three or four months after the Mario Galaxy movie comes out. And they had a Yoshi popcorn bucket on the thing. I'm like, hey, do you guys have more of those? Yeah, more of those popcorn. Yeah, we just got a batch in. Like, with the movies like five months old, you guys, yeah, they were just so popular that we just got, we ordered a new batch. And they just came in like two days. So, yeah. So I'm like, well, I'll have to get one then. I mean, there's no two ways about it. Yeah. And then, I sit down in the cinema. And firstly, what I hated about it was she gives it to me sealed in a plastic bag. And then she gives me a cardboard box of popcorn. And I'm like, well, what's the point of this isn't in a popcorn box? She goes, yeah, we just get you to do it yourself. What? I'm like, well, since then I'm sitting in the cinema and I cracked the plastic bag and I open up the ice. And she's filling half your bucket onto the floor. And then I try to put it in me and I'm like, you're not actually going to put popcorn in it now. You're like, it's popcorn back in what else? That's what I'm putting it to use. She's like, don't do that. Just give it to your brother and just leave it, leave it be clean. I'm like, no. Okay, no, I did. No. I didn't, I didn't use it. I was just like, okay, well, it is dumb. I don't, I'm sitting like the trailers are running. I'm like trying to scoot. Yeah. I'm like doing a whole thing. There's like a whole show. Anyway, back room was great. Second time loved it. Man, I tell you what I did when I rocked up to the cinema. I just went, Alia had some, she was hanging out with her mates. I was like, and I've been trying to rally the crew to see disclosure day. Nobody's been keen on it. So I was like, fuck you guys. I'm just going to go on my own. So I went there and then it was pretty much an empty cinema. It was me and this one other guy in there. It was perfect. Also, I walk in and where the only two dudes in the cinema. So I go up to the candy bar. I was like, hey, man, can I get a large mic combo? Choktov. Large popcorn, large drink. We gave me the large popcorn and a choktov, banana minion flavour. They're doing a minion's collab. Pretty good. Get onto it.
- Okay, good. - And he gives me a medium coke and I was too, I'd already paid for it. So I was like, "Oh, I'll just, I'll just cop the L." - But when did the big one? - I wanted a big one. - Oh, what? - So I go into my seat and then the, the trailers hadn't even started. The ads before the trailers were still playing. I finished the medium coke, bro. - No, you already drank the whole, - So I was like, I was like, "Ah, is it really embarrassing if I go out and order a large coke again?" 'Cause he knows this isn't for anybody else. - Yeah. - And he was like, "Hey man, everything all good?" I was like, "Oh yeah, man, can I just get a large coke?" He was just like, "Oh, everything all good." I was like, "Eh, I just drank it." (laughing) He didn't rectify like, "Ah, I guess you can't do it after you've drank it." - Yeah, I'd already paid for it, drank it, spent a lot of, I'd, I'd, I'd skim the fee rewards, man. - Anything big happened for you over the weekend, Blakey? - I went to, I went to Shepardon. Thank you to everybody who came to my Shepardon show. - Oh, I was there with you. - Actually, - That was what I was talking about on this week's pod. - Yeah, go for it. - I know I said this pod would be fun of goofs and gags and gifs and gizmos. - Oh, they're actually called gifs, but yes, Karate. - Yeah, we did a show in Shepardon and thank you very much to everybody who came out. - Couple of BLT ads there. - I'll be BLT ads. - Yeah, I'm a lot of people. - Thank you very much. And I'm sure you're not in this bunch that I'm about to talk shit on. - Yeah, yeah. - I think there is something to be said about, Tyler, when you, I don't know, I'm the same age as a lot of my audience, a lot of the time. - So when that demographic 810 to 24, right? - Right, late teens. - I'm about to age out of my late teens, okay? When I've turned 25. And I, when I have ever been to a comedy show - Yes. - Or a theater style environment, I know because I'm not thicky, thicky dumb brain that I need to put my phone away. - Yeah. - And not record what I'm seeing, because I know if I'm watching a movie, I'm like, I'm sure the bloke who made this, all the woman who made this, wouldn't want me to film this, because it's something they've worked very hard on, they should probably just want me to experience it as it was intended to be experienced. - You pay your money for the ticket to experience a thing in the moment? - Yeah. - When I am on stage, reenacting a certain political assassination that happened about a year ago, we can't be filming me doing that, when you've already been told that the start of the show not to do that. - Yeah, I think it's crazy. I had maybe 10 to 12 of my girlfriend's family in, who were seeing my show for the very first time, and a half of that show was me stopping the show to be like, don't film, stop recording, don't put your phone down, and then putting their phone down would be like, oh, he said they're just physically put it lower. - Yeah, so they're just lowering and keep filming. Yeah, there was about 13 times where I would, 'cause I was working the show with Blakey and I was on the camera's side of the back, and I know that it's, Blakey and Luke, they both have pre-show announcements where they say, hey guys, filming of any kinds, not cool, whatever, blah, blah, blah. And then during the show, there's like a million people filming, and so I would go to one side of the room, you're like, hey, sorry, you have to put your phone in the account film, and they go, okay. And then while I'm saying that person, on the other side of the room, another person goes, so I go around, hey, okay, yeah, cool. Then the same person, the other side. - But I thought it was a generational thing, and apparently I'm wrong now, because after the show, I'm talking to a few people, and then a couple of, I feel the people were older, like my parents age, they were like, oh, so the no phones thing, was that like, that was like part of the show? - Yeah. - I was like, no. That would be telling people, why would me ruin the show, be a part of the show? (laughing) - Who's getting really metta with it, hence we had no phone commentary. Pretty hilarious. - And it'll go, it's coming, you know, mate, you know, like, you know, mate, I like a little bit of fun. - Of course, you guys. - I love having fun with you guys, but the only way we can have fun is everybody who listens to the rules. - Yeah, it's weird, it's weird you have to give them like the teacher thing, and you know what sucks too? It's such a shit position for a camee to be, 'cause like, have you seen those videos? It's so cringe on my Broadway. - Because the expectation is a camee to you, and it's to just be the chill guy who can take anything, but like, I don't think a lot of people, especially in places like Shepardon, for example, who are lovely every year, although the quality of the show does decrease as soon as I hit a regional town like that. (laughing) And that's to no fault of their own. They just don't have a lively art scene or theater scene in that town, so they need a little bit of, they need to-- - They just don't have to behave. - Exactly. - You see videos of like people on Broadway, and like the Broadway performers will just like, abruptly something like, hey, put your phone down or whatever, and the person, oh shit, order. And it's so embarrassing, it's so cringe. It's even worse, I feel, for comedians, because it's like, like you said, you wanna maintain this like fun, funny vibe, and the audience needs to kind of be on your side. But it's hard to tell someone off, while also like coming across chill. And like, I've seen you and Luke do this similar thing where you both like, hey, like, remember, no phones, please don't film it. I can't have this leak online, we put me in a bad position, which is code for like, dumb fuck, put your phone down. That's as hard as you can get without doing it. So it's like, the job of the people working on the show to be the hard ass of like, put your fucking phone down or we'll kick you out. But it's like one of those things where, it's so fucking hard, because people are just so dumb, they just don't, and then you don't wanna be having a dialogue, 'cause I'm like, hey, listen, I have to kick you out next. You've been filming for fucking 15 minutes. They just suck about it, they can play in. And you don't wanna ruin the vibe of the people around them. It's like one of those things, it's so dog shit. But you could tell it was like one of those like five bad eggs ruining the experience of hundreds of paying people. - Yeah. - So rude, bro. - But that was the thing, it wasn't just one bad egg, it was like you'd bought a pack of eggs, there were like 263 eggs in the cart, and there were like 28 bag bags. - Bad eggs. - Okay, so it's like a, it's like an 8% bad egg ratio. - Yeah, it was crazy. - Yeah, that is crazy. But anyway, come out to go back next year, get you tickets to BlakePover.com. - What did the in-laws think of him? - Man, the in-laws were, - I loved it. - They were happy with it. - That's good. - They're happy with it. - 'Cause there was, look, there does come a point where you need to sort of tie the light between respecting the family and doing your art that you've protected. - Yeah. - And I chose to respect the family. So I was doing, you know, there's about 10 minutes of me talking about my loving relationship with my girlfriend. - And how much you love her and what ways? - Yeah, exactly. And then I did kind of forget, as I'm doing the show that I did have to cut certain bits. So I got to the end of the bit that I was supposed to stop talking at. I finished that bit and then I was like, "Oh, now there's like no segue." 'Cause I haven't finished the bit. So I just, as I'm like looking out to the audience, I just go, yep, that's the end of that bit. - Yeah, did you then also say, I had to cut a bunch of gags or something? - Yeah. - You know, I was like, "Bold moves to in the show and tell the audience that paid for the show that they're not getting the full show." - Yeah. - Classic, classic pay-view moment. - Yeah, no. - And I was like, "Ooh, what are the old time series?" - Nice one. - Anyway, yeah, it was a good show. They had a good time. So that after that went to Coral with the next day and then, - What happened in Coral, man? - Man. - How's Coral going? - Man, Coral was actually going not too bad. The golf club is, - Yeah, wasn't it closing down? - The golf club is closed down, but I can vividly remember sitting in the golf club about two days ago having a beer with about 50 other patrons. - So what does that mean? How is it, - I don't know. - Dude, small towns are awesome. - Small towns are awesome. - Because you will go through the whole process of mourning something that continues to live on. - Yeah. - That's crazy. - But I also went to, 'cause Sheppardin's not too far from where I grew up, so I just took a layer down to see the fam and me and my mother and my father and a layer went to the Coroa Chocolate Factory's Whiskey Festival. - The Chocolate Factory has a Whiskey Festival? - Yeah, it's like a chocolate and whiskey distillery. (laughing) - Just get all the sweet treats in one spot. - Yeah. - And then all of the whiskey distilleries in the country came over and you got to just taste whiskey all day, it was awesome. - Oh, is it good? - It's so-- - It's a shit face on, no, not a lot of shit face. - I mean, get shit face, but I did walk past a vomit about four times. - Oh, you got it awesome. - But I bought a, like some of them, you get ripped, I went to this one, it was from Tasmania, you do a peanut butter whiskey. - Ooh, yummy. - Beautiful. And then I went to the one, it was, and sorry to rip on them again, then the Gambi Whiskey Distillery. - The Gambi, - It was a dog shoot. - There, I tried their lowest, alcohol content, which was at 43%, that was their lowest. - That sounds heaps, is that it? - Yeah, it was jet fuel. (laughs) - It's like absinthe. - Yeah. - Dude, I recalled this story, I don't know if I've ever told this on the part, so forgive me if I have, I recalled this story because I ran into this guy, I was at a friend's birthday, which also at this same birthday I was out and I was completely shit faced and Luke was at his show of his, and I got a face time at about 9.30 pm from Luke, and he must have been in the meet and greet and he was with, assuming it was a BLT head who had brought Pokemon cards to open with me, but I was there. - So Luke, I was on the, in the big garden at a bar at 9.30 off my face, haven't, while Luke was facing me, opening Pokemon cards with a random BLT head. So shout out whoever that was, you're a fucking legend, I fucking love you. - So also, I feel like it's a rare pull to, no matter what fucking rare Pokemon he had in that pack, I think it's a rare pull to get you drunk on a face time. - Yeah, I know, I'm not usually out and about like that, but no, I was at my mates, two of my friends are having a joint birthday party, and there was this guy there who was the cousin of my mate, only met him one of the time, and he was the weirdest fucking dude. And I'm gonna tell you when I met him, probably about nine years ago, my friend had a new friend,
he's a party at his house, right? - Oh yeah. - And he lived near mine. And he has this big, he's out door, he's like backyard is like this balcony that looks out. It's, he lives on this really steep hill, so he's balcony looks out over sort of the whole town. The whole town of Elphan. And we're on the balcony and he's, we've gotten there a bit earlier, like our closer group of guy friends. There's maybe six of us. And we all were there from like maybe five PM before the wider group showed up as the night went on. And we've got this friend Boog, you know Boog. - Yeah, I've never. - And Boog's a sweetheart. - Yeah. - Right. But he's also got an iron liver. He, he just throws him back when he wants to. - Okay, yep. - And he is undefeated. And it's because he's put himself through years of stress challenges with drinking. - Right. - And we used to do this thing when we were young, I don't know why. It's when I was like 19, 2021, where we would get me and these group of five guys, would take turns each time we would go out. One of us would buy a bottle of absinthe. And then we'd just go around taking shots of absinthe. So that's the one that makes you hallucinate and chill. - Yeah. - So it's called green fairy absinthe. And it comes in this green bottle. - Yep. - And it tastes like washing detergent. It's the worst. It gives you like a visceral reaction when you drink a shot of it. - I need to say what the bottle looks like. Green fairy absinthe. - Yeah, look for green fairy absinthe. It tastes like fucking garbage. People, some people love it, but it used to just trigger us. It was like the worst shit ever. It looks like a fucking potion for you. - Yeah, dude. - Yeah. - Or I don't get, but. - It's a fucking off-chug jug. - But why is it like a lead to be sold if it's essentially a hallucinogenic? - I mean, I guess it just depends on how it affects you. Like I've never personally hallucinated of it, but I've also come myself all after one shot. - Yeah. - You have the shot and you get, "Fuck, I need it." (laughing) But what we did, this new-yous party was, we got there at five o'clock to Daniel, oh, fuck, I'm very exposed to it, he's. (laughing) We got there at five o'clock to our friends house, right? - Yep. - And I think, whoever bought the absinthe opens it up and pours everyone a shot, or hang on, let me start again. We got to our friends house at five o'clock and whoever bought the absinthe opens it up, pours himself a shot, has it, and is passing the absinthe bottle on the shot glasses around the table, right? We all take a shot and then it gets to booge. (laughing) And booge at the time, like I said, we were like 19 or 20. He was like, he must have thought he was gonna be tough and he just starts chugging the bottle of absinthe. He just cluckled, and then like dude, firstly, that's why fucking absinthe dog. But secondly, like you're gonna be like dead, that's gonna murder you, and he's just going, nah, be fucking sweet, whatever. In the next hour, he was passed out on the veranda on this balcony, and then everyone else shows up, and was like, what's up with booge? We're like, yeah, he's fucking just like, drank half a bottle of absinthe, whatever, he's completely cooked, and so booge's like hanging off the, like his arms off the balcony, and we're fucking around with him, like putting, like mustache on his lips, sort of seeing, whatever. Anyway, the night goes on, and we're all partying and drinking and hanging out, having a good time, and booge's just dead on the veranda, and occasionally he's waking up and moving, so we know he's okay, but you would get up and walk like two steps, and then just rag doll onto the ground again. - Yeah. - Then it gets off to the midnight countdown, and he's completely cooked, and we're thinking, like, you know, he's booking to be all right, like, do we need to call someone, or whatever? And we're saying, booge, do you wanna school someone? And he's like, nah, I'm gonna sleep here, I'm gonna sleep on the grass, and then the backyard's sick. - And yeah, at that point, he'd gotten up and dragged himself to the grass, and so he's off the balcony in the backyard, there's like a grassy sort of little hill, and he's like kind of laying in the middle of the grassy land. Anyway, my friend, whose house it was, him and I are standing out in the backyard, and a guy, a random guy I've never seen, walks from around the front, just around the back. He doesn't go through the front door, and he's got like a sports bag with him, right? And I'm like, who is this? And he's like, the guy who's has to, he's like, oh, that's my cousin. I'm like, did he just get, he's like, yeah, he just got to use another party. I'm like, what's with the bag? This guy, unzips the bag, it's full of fireworks. He sets up the fireworks next to Boog's head in the grass. And I'm like, should he be doing that, or do you not, be that bamboot? And my friend's like, nah, I think he'd be fine, he does fireworks all the time. This guy sets off probably 12 fireworks next to Boog's head, and then sparks, and I'm going, holy fuck, 'cause they're not quiet, they're, don't feel, shh. That sort of thing. I'm like, what the fuck, like this could start off on your backyard. This guy and his cousin just laughing, having the best time, I think it's hilarious. I'm like, is Boog gonna get burnt? They're like, nah, I'll be sweet. He said, like I said, it sets up to like 12 fireworks, and then he just leaves. It gets the bag, he just disappears. I know this is after midnight. He's like 1am on New Year's Day. I'm like, what's the story with that? He's like, oh, I don't know, man, it's just what he does these fireworks go. Cut to like a decade later, walk into my friend's birth, though. I see the cousin. I'm like, oh shit, good to see him, and he's like, do I know you? I'm like, yeah, I was at the New Year's party when you like set off all those fireworks, he's like, that wasn't me. (laughing) I'm like, it literally was you, I met you. We've, you know, I know it was you guys, that wasn't me, I don't do fireworks. If anyone asks, I'm not the fireworks. That's not my thing. I'm like, it literally was. Like, you can't gaslight me into things. It wasn't me. I'm like, what's been happening? He's like, I've got a cow. (laughing) Okay, cool. - Yeah, I'm generally. (laughing) - Anyway, that was my absent story. - I'm gonna have to try it, bro. - Man, give me a go, give absent the sweet. Let me let us know in the comments below if you've tried absent. - Yeah. - Take it in the episode off. Let's start again. (laughing) Bennett, let's go to the Cossentino hat - Yeah. - Of magic prompts. Because not the need necessarily feel like we need to, because I want to test it out. If we can't mention it to the people that we have a prompt, a prompt bag and not at least give it a win. - Yeah, of course. So would you kindly reach into the Cossentino hat. Pull out a prompt. Excellent. What do you got there, brother? - 25 minutes on one nation. (laughing) - Well, we've already done that. - I'm joking. It says, "Grandparent Names." - Looks actually? - Yeah, it does. (laughing) - That was a grandparent name. Yeah, okay, so this is a come up for a reason. In our house, now that I'm in unk, two time unk, you know how it is. Two things everyone knows about me. I'm a two time unk and a lifelong nicks fan. - Yeah. - So. Now that I'm in unk, we've had this conversation going back and forth because you have to factor in when your mom no longer is mom. She's a grandma. You need to coordinate and make sure across all bodies that the same names are being used because you don't want the extended family tree to get too muddled up on different names. Now that I'm in unk, when I'm talking to my two nephews. - So are you uncle Tyler? - Well, I haven't decided. I think just Tyler is fine. I'm happy with that. - Okay. - I don't need to be reminded of my status. I'm happy to just be it. You know, and body it. - Yep. - But when it comes to the grandmas, you know, you don't want to, you know, you want to have, you know, if my older brother's baby is going to, my mum, Nann and then the other baby's already got a Nann. It's like we're crossing the wires here. So in our house, what has been decided upon and I'm pushing back on big time, is mum has decided that her name, because obviously her name is Julie, that her name is going to be Nanny Juju. Whoops. Nope. So two reasons why I don't like that. The first reason is because I don't like when people do baby talk to babies, because it gives them like when they're growing up, they just talk like babies. Like when I have kids, I'm going to be talking to them. - Like an adult. - Like an adult. Like, oh, good job, mate. Well, it's going to be like a baby. (imitates baby noises) Well, good job. By the way, you've been handing your resumes out. - Yep. - Get a job. - Yeah. - You know, you're paying your way, Ranny. - You just got to walk in. - Yeah. - You just got to walk in with your printout and you'll be good. I'll be your reference for a different name. But I think talking to me as an adult. Secondly, yeah, calling your nanny, Juju, listen. - Listen, feels either really anti-semitic or really, or really zionistic. - Yeah. Yes. It feels either way. I was like in the year 2026 and beyond. - You don't want to bring, we don't want to conflate cultures and religions and what have you and wills of. - I don't, yeah, sure. I can understand the perspective of like, oh yeah, nanny, Juju, cute little name. Buh, buh, buh, buh, buh. When the kid's 17 and he's like, yeah, this is my pop and my nanny, Juju. (laughs) - Well, I was kind of saying to her too, you know. - But how is she spelling it? Is she spelling it in Nanny, J. - I haven't seen her. - J-E-W-J-W. Or is it more Juju? Was in like, yeah, I got the Juju. - I haven't seen it written yet. - So I'm not too sure. Regardless though, I think she's setting herself up for a little bit of if someone is upset with her, maybe calling her Nanny Nya-Hoo. - And I don't (laughs) Nanny Nya-Hoo. - And listen, if we get upset with Nanny Juju, hold back, try not to, but I did let her know. Listen, I might do a layer decaprio and in Sep this idea of one of my nephews as they get older 'cause I'll think it's hilarious, do you know what I mean? And I'm just letting her know that if someone says it, don't come crying to me. I warned you that you didn't pivot from the name. But in saying that too, my dad and my stepmom, my dad's gone with Papa, which is very like Dutch or something. - Very strange things, yes. - Yes, it's like Pa or grandpa. - Papa. - Papa, and my stepmom is Baba. - Baba. - And yeah, my stepmom, you know. - When she fucking nephew of me,
- I mean, you said, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, yeah, she's going with Baba, and I was like, I was like, why, Baba? She's like, you know, it's just something different. I want to be unique. It's, Baba, like, Baba, like, Baba, Black sheep, have you any wool? - Baba, Duke. - Yeah, Baba, Duke. - Baba, Duk. - Baba, Duk. And I was just like, that's such an interesting, like, I didn't realize it's what we're going with. Now what's kind of upset me too, is I would like to have a few offspring in the future at some point. - Yeah, but what? - But now I have to, do I have to play by these rules? - But I don't think you should be allowed a customizable name. I think you should get like four options. It's either grandma, Nann, Nann, - Grandpa or Poppy. - Yeah, Poppy. Oh, really? You don't like par? - No, I don't, no, par. - You go with the par? - No, par is like, par. - Pa, you don't like that. See that's interesting. - My grandfather was Poppy. - Interesting. Well, yeah, we didn't use Poppy. We used, I had Nann and par with my mum's parents, and then my dad's mom was Nannavani. So she got like a variation with her own name. - Nannavani. - Yeah, 'cause they're Nannavani, so it was just short into Vani or Vani. People would call her, "Hey, Vani, what's going on?" - Yeah. - So we call it Nannavani. And then we just had Nann or Nannaceri, 'cause obviously, Cherry invented the frog in the pond. Maybe we just call my mum instead of Nanni, Ju-ju. Nanni invented frog in the pond, Junior. - Yeah. - So that that kind of leaves all. - Yeah. - Well, maybe BLT heads, maybe you can sort of engage with this correspondence as well. Do you call your grandfather or grandmother any weird names that they've sort of given themselves? - Yeah, 'cause a lot of people don't realize it's kind of unique or weird until they've gone out and talked about it. It's like me and me and calls her Nann Yah, and we've talked about Yah on the pod before. But people go, "Oh, so she's a girl?" - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - Dotcom, search browser. - You know how it is. People go, "Oh, she must be Greek." It's like, "No, it's not Yah, when me and her is a kid, "before she could speak, probably she'd call her Yah, "it's just like an easy thing and just stuck." Right? But she calls her other grandma, grandma. - Well, that's what I think, Nanni, if Nanni, God forbid, have any children and then God forbid, they have any children. A lady's gonna be called Nanni Yah, Yah. - That's really good. Well, because I'm assuming that-- - We have a HHS, YA, HHS. - Because at that point, you will probably own majority stakes. - Yeah, in stocks in YAHs. And therefore, you'll be able to use that trademarking anyway, you see fit. That's really good. I'm really a big fan of it. Yeah, so let us know, if there's any interesting or you need, I'm gonna go with, when I'm a grandfather, I'm gonna be called, Papa Logi. - Named after that, which you do not have. (laughing) - Well, it's a really nice, it's really nice to put your ego aside. It's like how in like old samurai stories or whatever they shackle themselves to their failures. And I think that's really sweet of you, Blake. - Yeah, good job. - That's like I'll call myself, they can call me Pa No Carey. - Yeah, yeah. - That just sounds like a Japanese name.
