Welcome back, you slur. It's July, and we've returned with more program. I'm Eddie Griffin. And I'm your 2026 Commissioner's Cup champions, the New York Liberty. Brr-brr-brr-brr! And this is the re- Yes, we just won last night. It's like, it's like God do not want me to stop partying, honestly. It truly feels that way. It was like God said, you know what? Actually, you're going to be nonstop partying from May to October. And so, yeah, we're keeping the good vibes going. Another one. Thank you, girls. Thank you as well. I'm assuming it's the elephant. Yeah, it's Ellie's team. Yes. Ellie, Ellie won. Boosted morale. And I just saw, I don't know how I missed this, but I just saw a video of her popping pussy in the stands, like on a fucking handstand. There's something wrong with that elephant. I adore her. Do they have plushies? They do. They have Ellie plushies. And they sell her braid in the gift shop. So you see kids with the Ellie braid in their ponytails all the time. It's so cute! Okay. It's so cute. All right. Well, now I feel like maybe we can calm down. No, no. She takes pictures with the kids swinging their Ellie braid and everything. It's so precious. Yeah, that is pretty adorable. Yeah. Well, let's get our festivities rolling with Black Excellence. Let's get our festivities rolling with Black Excellence. This week, Black Excellence is going to Quan Lewis, who's been named the CEO of Crunch Fitness. Oh, word. He was president of Crunch for a while. I believe he became president in January 2024. And he just got a big baby promotion. CEO as of June, or as confirmed in a June press release. He said to Yahoo Finance, that through good family brought-upsy, or home training, my grandma says brought-upsy, but I've mentioned that. He's been on a, quote, mission to do all that I can with all that I've been given, a.k.a. black race to know it and respect it. So he's, first of all, Howard University alum, graduated 2005. Shout out to y'all. Four years. An industrial supply company at McMaster Car in Atlanta. And as far as moving forward as the chief executive officer. Educated. He said, as we enter this next chapter, our focus remains clear to support our franchise network, invest in innovation, and grow the Crunch community in a disciplined way. While staying true to the culture of values and no judgements, no limits experience that define this brand. Shout out to you, sir. At the top of the fitness food chain. Exactly. Go black man. I think I see a ring on his finger. So tough. So the rest of you who were automatic or gentlemen, if you over getting excited, go ahead and pipe down. Yeah, it's a no. He's good looking. Of course he is. All right, folks. Let's get into the pop culture segment of the week. Hot tops. All right. So first let's start. Did you watch the BET Awards? Mostly. I was in Chicago with some friends and Sunday night. I mean, I had been partying, right? I didn't know it was Pride in Chicago, child. We stumbled into a gay event. I was like, wow. But it's around the corner, right? Yeah. Well, not anymore. But yes, we were exhausted Sunday after party and Friday and Saturday. So that's fair. We sat down and looked after the Chicago Sky game. We looked at that and it went on for a very long time. I two and a half hours, baby. Sometimes I just like I'm actually tired of sitting here looking at this. Like it's still on. That's crazy. But overall, not a bad show. Did you see it? I watched the entire thing. Oh, wow. Yeah. I took notes. Oh, so let's start with. Okay. The opening TI as far as an opening choice. I guess. Right. Right. I like it was in Atlanta. I don't find I'd like the cool little crown platform. Oh, it's fun. Um, I thought that the sun that viciously dissed 50 cent being in the car thought that was fun. I also wrote. Thank God for dancers. Well, yes, it's my God to where they the glue. Yeah. Rappers really need dancers because they don't hardly be doing shit up there. Mm. Okay. So Drew skis hosting overall. Oof. Yeah. Um, yeah. Mm. Um, man, not, I was not a fan for the most part. I'll say this. I generally don't enjoy award show bits. Mm-hmm. Um, little jokey jokes, bringing in a celebrity that can't act, barely want to do this to then join in on a joke. Right. Teleprompter banter. It's just almost Neverlands for me. Mm-hmm. Um, that said, my word were some, were these things bad. Like, first of all, the opening, I get that he has poked fun at the organization of the Christian church. Mm-hmm. And a lot of it I find very funny. Yeah. Doing it to open, uh, the award show didn't feel fresh. Yeah. Or funny. I had to, to speed through that one a bit. It was just a live version. I wanted to claw at myself. Yeah. It was a live version of the TikTok. It's like, we've already seen this though. Like, I would have loved to see something that we had not already seen. Like, you're just doing it live on stage, but we've, we know this one. It was funny, the, hilarious the first time, but I don't understand why it's happening now again. Mm. Yeah. Was the Stevie Wonder bit in it the first time? Oh, maybe? I don't know, but I, I mean, I felt that- He put some celebrities- Okay. Yeah. I felt that same way about the- He put them up on the screen. Mm-hmm. Oh, no. Oh, your net worth. Oh, right. No, that was so corny. That was so cheesy. Like, ugh. I- When the Stevie Wonder one came up and it was in Braille, I giggled. That was, yeah. I mean, it's something- Will niggas get over Stevie Wonder blind jokes? Yes. Never. Probably not. And I'm fine with that. But then, yeah, I had to speed through it. It was making me want to call my skin off. I was, I, I, it hurt. That's secondhand embarrassment where it's like, ooh, wrap this up. Please, God, hurry up with this. Yeah. I felt that quite a few times. I said, damn, you know? Yeah, throughout the night. Not just from him. Some people are better in pre-produced sketches and skits and, you know, hashtag content. Hosting live is a different skill set. Yes, because there's enough skits, too. Um, I wrote, congrats, Leon Thomas. Um, I, I thought that award was, was well-deserved. And I also love when Black mommies go to, uh, award shows and then they see their baby win. Mm-hmm. Warms my heart. Love it. Um, Jamie Foxx coming out to open Kehlani with his daughter. Love. Fierce. Yep. Daughter, ate the guitar. Mm-hmm. Jamie Foxx, new album, please. When was the last? Jamie Foxx. I was like, can we have another album, please? Because. You are so talented, sir. And that rendition of Fold It was so good. At first, I thought it was just like, oh, they're just going to do Fold It. And I was like, oh, my God, Kehlani's going to shit. And then it was like, oh, she's part of this. No, she's not. They rehearsed. Right. But I did love that rendition. Yeah, me too. It was gorgeous. Um, Kehlani, I wrote voice T, body T, wardrobe T. Yeah, she looks good. Love the song. Although, you know something, and I'm sure this has been said. I really just kind of sat with the lyrics of Fold It for the first time for some reason. I'm sure this part has been said. I'm not folding her clothes. I realized that it was like. I just got to realize I was like, oh, you're asking this nigga to come get his shit. Well, you're telling him that the door is not completely shut on y'all's relationship. Like, you can come pick up your clothes. I folded them up and maybe we can have a conversation and maybe this isn't fully over. But if it is over, you can come pick up your clothes. But they are folded because I folded them. Like, it's not a message I can personally co-sign. I believe in letting them nigga go. I do not believe in having a revolving door for these niggas. But, you know, it's just one of those situations where I'm like, of all the songs for this artist that I've loved for years and years, for this to be one of the ones that, like, kind of breaks you out and gets all this mainstream attention, it's like this one of all of them. Okay, man. You think Folded broke Kehlani out? No, no, no. But it's one of, not broke her out. Like, people know who she is. But Folded is a huge hit for her. It's like one of her biggest. Right. And I'm like, this? No shade. It's a beautiful song. It's a cute enough song, but I don't like the message behind it. I don't like the idea of letting niggas come back. I think that's very specific. Yeah, it is. To us. And so we shouldn't strike points. Because many people don't relate. And that's fair. And that's fair. I think we just need it. And I can even relate to that part of it. Yeah. Like, I don't. Well, I'm just not folding her clothes. I don't like folding mine. Right. Your clothes. If we locked in and you live here, I'm still not. Hello? Right. They're in a giant trash bag that I will have double knotted at the front door. I will get a laundry bag for you. Oh, and that's not a real laundry bag. That's nice. A real laundry bag. Yeah, not me. See, I care. No, you're getting whatever hefty is left rolled up under my kitchen sink, baby. You're getting all them. Every time I go someplace with a Walmart, I take hella plastic bags back because they're illegal in New York City. So you might get some of my plastic bags, my Walmart bags, and that's it, baby. Come pick up your strap. Your sports bra is in this public's bag. Yes. Yo, your basketball shorts are in this Morton Williams bag. Fierce. So MC Light being on camera and then they gave her this giant three ring binder. I mean, when? Is the disrespect going to stop? You know, like at this point. Oh, I don't even think I noticed that. She did look good. Yeah, she always looks amazing. Yes, she does. And what's the little girl's name that came up with her to do the dove thing? Oh, um, what is her name? Little rapping girl. My name is, damn, now I want to say Fan Fan and I know that's not it, but she was on Avid Elementary too. No, it's not Fan Fan. Little girl. Little girl on Avid Elementary rapper. Is it? No, it's not. It's not Fan Fan. Oh, it's Van Van. Van Van. Van Van. Yeah. Young lady, I'm so sorry. She's so adorable. She's the cutest. My grandmother called Spongebob Bob Squeeze. So I'm like. Grandma, I miss you. Rest in peace. Rest in peace. Rest in peace. You know, we get things wrong. We get things wrong. No, I'll never recover from Bob Squeeze. Are you joking? Neither have I. Neither have I. I'm bringing up to this day. No clue. I'll tell you why. Because she knew it existed, but she didn't give it. She said a sponge. Yeah, you squeeze sponges. And his name is Bob. Therefore. There you go. Bob Squeeze. I will never. Oh, perfect. Ever let it go. It is a. So good. I have tears in my eyes. But baby Van, what I'm saying is. She didn't even care. Right. I do. And I was closer than Bob Squeezes to Spongebob. I don't know. I don't know. I think I'm just going to name this. Episode Bob Squeezing my grandma's honor. Are you okay? Oh, I told you. I cannot breathe. Oh, God. Okay. She was just like. And you know when she said it to me. I'm so glad that I heard her say it the first time. Oh, my God. I think my younger brother heard it, too. Because I have to give you the context. Okay. She wanted us to do. She wanted us to do work. She was like, I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. teacher right and so she would always especially in the summer make us write a five paragraph essay every weekday yeah oh i love that during the summer good uh yeah i did it okay i didn't all right well i mean five paragraphs come on oh my god i appreciate it now right yeah five paragraph i actually loved writing essays right and five paragraph wasn't a big deal right so the context was she said something like you know you can go finish the homework or whatever and then you can go and watch bob squeeze so it's already very like throw away like whatever that bitch name is bob squeeze and i thankfully it was one of those situations where you laugh at what a grown person say and they don't get mad because they realize it's funny right because it's like because i was yeah yeah went home told my mom and daddy they were crying it is an important memory of mine i'm so glad that i got to share it with y'all today moving on ray exceptional gorgeous that's with her she makes me want a glass of whiskey not too much just a little tiny bit yeah and something to smoke on even though i can't smoke no more yeah she's just she's so good i'm i'm so happy she did nightingale lane it's one of my favorites off that album and it's such a sad song that's so beautifully sung and yes i was just pointing out to niggas like oh y'all don't know ray i know y'all don't know ray but this little biracial girl sings her ass off so she's the composition of the music is is so uh it's just so well done and it's just so good it's so like consistently amazing and i think we've mentioned it before but the storytelling of this particular album yes the themes the it's just everything it's exceptional and this felt like similar to you said some of you niggas don't know ray right fine it feels like the girls are getting to know you're gonna yeah when when the grammy nominations come out she's up there for a nine of them hoes and she's like oh my god i'm so happy to be here and she's like i'm so happy to be here and she's like i'm so happy to be here and she's like i'm so happy to be here and she's like i'm so happy to be here and she's like i'm so happy to be here and she's like i'm so happy to be here of them hoes including album of the year and y'all are like who the fuck is ray remember when i showed you yeah that's true little light-skinned girl with no shoes on because that's her thing now fierce no shoes ever love it i don't know why i don't know why i saw her with no shoes on and i was like you know what work right i don't absolutely diva i i don't care when you can sing like that i don't care what else you do like if that's you need to be connected to the music you need to be connected to the music you need to be connected to the music you need to be connected to the stage or whatever you need to feel the stage beneath your feet in order to sing your ass off then you go right ahead and do it shit it's like fantasia when she i was just about to say that i was just about to not only will fantasia get barefoot she might kill you yeah pretending oh where you're sitting yeah it's gonna be a projectile yes put up the net well she takes somebody eye out yeah love rachel love her uh thames is she an angel is she from this planet no why is she so fine why does she sound so good why is why her song so great i said god damn thames is fine and my friend's wife and my friend's wife popped up and was like she damn show is and then my friend turned around like bitch like not too much like yeah you calm yourself but look she's thames look at her yeah it just it's gonna happen it's gonna happen beautiful girl did you see this post on threads where somebody was like you know all this talk about fine thames is but when i was in high school we all look like this and you know it's just a nigerian girl thing something like that i'm paraphrasing oh this black girl responded with this this clip of uh fuck master flex i did so the crack happened when was when did the coke or maybe he said so you you have the coke you're doing the coke when did the crack happen some shit like that i've seen that i'm pretty sure he's talking about selling it right but that crap like girl when i tell you i was diced that shit was so fucking yeah fuck you me people be very generous in the retellings of their youth like i'm sure maybe there were a lot of people shaped like thames i'll give you that but that combination of and body and talent, come on now. Come on now. Come on. Be for real. You need to be for real. That girl. Like, calm down. That girl is beautiful. I'm sure lots of you were beautiful. Right, yeah. But a high school everybody look like that? Then how come I don't see a lot more people walking around here looking like that? I mean, it's just like if you put two next to another two, it becomes four. So I don't know where you're getting. And I'm in New York City with the niggas. Like, I'm around the niggas. Black American and immigrant niggas all day every day. And it's just not it's just not that common to see somebody that damn fine. Sorry. It just isn't. She is stunning. Okay. Clips. What? First of all, I love that you actually watch this. This is great. Why do they put Alba of the Year in the middle of the show? I think they wanted to leave early. They didn't. Oh. Oh, you know why? Because they had to do all them legends of the. Yeah, they had to do all the tributes and stuff. And they were like, we know that shit is going to run long. So let's just do the awards. And the Clips won, so don't nobody they ain't even here, so let's. Right, and they weren't even there. So it was like Kiki being like, oh, we accept this on their behalf. Like, all right, well, y'all could have did this in the pre-show then. Really, you didn't you didn't have to do it during the regular show at all. With all due respect, as like a minimal fan and more so a respect to. Having respect for their contribution to the genre of hip-hop. I had no idea that Clips had an album out. Much less that it would. What? I haven't listened to it. Yeah, yeah. Much less that it was the album of the year. Wow. That stings. Love that for you. I think, like, I knew that they were making music together again. I don't think I knew that they had an album. Wow, they did a whole press tour and everything. Oh, yeah, I know about that. Love that. Yeah. I don't. Let God sort them out. Speaking of Kiki, hilarious bit where she took the microphone and introduced Cardi B because why didn't they let her host? It was such a good question. It really was. And how did you get this gig? I screamed. How did you feel when everyone gave thunderous applause when everybody started cracking up to Kiki's sentiment? You like a brother that's spitting that shit? No, my bad. My bad. I've been drunk. This should have been my gig. Why the hell would they have you host? And this is the problem. This is the problem with BET. They be tripping. Because this should have been me. I got it. I got it. When Kiki said, this should have been my shit. And everybody was like, yeah. Did you think, damn. Okay, so ain't nobody fucking with Drewski? Like, wow. My feelings would have been a little hurt. No shit. I want to believe that that was part of the bitch. Oh, yeah. I definitely think so. But they didn't have to do him like that. I mean, he all right. Yeah, big time. But it was, I mean, and it was valid. Like, I think Drewski's, like I was saying earlier, I think Drewski's talent really shines on social media. Doesn't necessarily translate to live hosting an award show. Kiki, though, she is the exact type of weird performance arty comedian just kind of jibber jabber type bitch to do this type of gig. Like, it is, it's right up Kiki's alley. She could absolutely kill it. And she's an actor. Right. She could probably do a sketch or do some little onstage bit. Well, right. Something that doesn't feel so awkward. Let me tell you what else chopped me. I know what you're going to say. Tell me when he was doing the auditions for could have been records. Yes. Yeah. Goddamn. That was hilarious. The rest of the show. Why would you sing while Durand is singing? Are you cool? Yeah. Yeah. I was like, I mean, you actually he don't sound too bad, but it's also like let Durand sing. Let Durand sing. Durand is singing. Right. Right. No one should be singing when Durand is singing unless you shock a con or I mean, Eric Bonet invite you to sing with him just because you can kind of hold the note. Do not mean you need to be. But with security and pick Durand up and he threw that little tantrum, I screamed. Yeah, that was funny. He is so hilarious. Yeah. Yeah, he is. Variety show. Variety show. Yeah. I can see it. Absolutely. Also, I forgot they're making a Varnell Hill show for real. Yeah, they are. They promoted it. I forgot. Um, yeah, that chopped me. I will say the little Jay-Z. I didn't know he could do a Jay-Z impression half well. Like he sounded similar. Yeah. Um, the bit I didn't Okay, we'll move on. Erica Campbell. I I love that song. I love the Lord. Yeah. Didn't really enjoy the uh that they reminded me so many niggas are dead. I promise you I forgot about like four or five of those people passed. Major note here. Why was Clive Davis on screen? Now you know why. I don't care. Why was Clive Davis on the screen? You know why. I know. And she actually reminded me of what you mentioned last week, I think. When she was like, I'm gonna sing one of the his protege Whitney Houston's favorite songs. It's like me and Crystal was just talking about how that lady died. That part. And he kept it going. Right. But I think Richard Smallwood also arranged that version of I love the Lord or wrote it or wrote the music, the lyrics, something like that. So it was appropriate because, you know, Richard Smallwood is one of the people that we lost this year. But yeah, the Clive, I was. Oh, I love that song. Oh, no, everybody. Right. No, I think everybody does. But yeah, I was like, now y'all know that demon is responsible for so many artists' getting played out of their contracts and ripped off and zero respect for people outside of what they can do to line his pockets like. But, you know, it's the only white man up here. The hashtag industry. I don't even know because who in who in Clive Davis's family was like, make sure the BET Awards honors our dad or whatever. Like, I really doubt it. Like, you niggas went out your way. Right. Y'all went out your way. We we would have been just fine without that. Probably an executive high up on the bike. Yeah. Yeah. Paramount totem pole. Yeah. I wrote, why does Drewski keep putting on his Mater D outfit? Why didn't they have like you did outfit changes for the costumes? I mean, for the little sketches and stuff. Yeah. Why do you keep putting on it? Was there an inside joke? If there was, I'd missed it. Sylvia Roan, Fierce Ultimate Icon Award tea dress. Oh, my God. She looked so good. Cunt. When you Google, when you Google her, a little golden trophy comes up and it says like BET Mogul Award or something like that. Yeah. It comes up on the screen. BET Ultimate Icon. Yeah. With her little chip. Right. But I was actually ashamed that I was like, not me just now finding out about this woman and who she is like I 98% of what they said about her. I was like, wait a minute. What the fuck? So I said, good job BET for actually awarding somebody who is overlooked and overly deserving and giving us some information about her and you know, the lives she shaped and the career she has helped launch. So I actually did learn something at the BET Awards. Thank you so much BET for that. Yes. So Sylvia Rohn, this is somebody that I should be aware of. And yeah, looked incredible. Amazing. Amazing. And you're right. I love when folks behind the scenes who are instrumental in the success of all of these people that we love. Their flowers on a big old stage. Right. While they're here. Right. And everybody has amazing energy. Amazing things to say about Sylvia all the time. Right. So work. Absolutely. But yeah, it is crazy to be like, yeah, I'm responsible for Metallica and Vogue and also 21 Savage and Future. Baby, we were gagged. We were like, who? Yeah. Tyler and Missy Elliott and Travis Scott. And it's like, well, damn, who don't you know? I think Missy is my, maybe why. Kelly rolling up here presenting the award. I said, oh, this lady know everything. O-V-I-N-G. The dog just had to walk on stage. She know she look good. God damn, Kelly, please. Can we breathe? Fuck, she is so pretty. No. No. She's so gorgeous. Yeah. Looked amazing. I'm ready for another album. I want another, ooh, I want a big old housey. I knew you, I knew you was going to say it. You want something gay and black. Because listen, Kelly has made house records, dance records, and she's good at it. And I just mentioned, I think last week, I miss big black voices on house. Mm-hmm. I heard it in like the 80s and 90s when it was always a big black voice. Oh, yeah. A big old loud black voice on this house record, and it gave it soul. It made niggas want to listen. Yeah. Right, yeah, exactly. So, yeah. Um, yeah, I, that's, that's definitely a lane she could occupy if she wants to, but she's like, you know, I could also just be over here with my kids and my man selling lotion on Instagram or whatever. Can't argue with that. Yeah. Um, I said, yes, Miles Caton. Know the doll, understand the, the diva. He looked adorable. He did. Love him coming out. Know the name. Yes. Sinners. Nominated. Mm-hmm. Talented. Breakout. Get to know me not going nowhere. Lived for it. D'Angelo tribute. Man. Girl, let me tell you something. Tell me what I'm about to say. I don't, I don't know. Um, Durant chewed that up? I don't know. Close. Okay, what is it? When they brought out, um, or when they introduced his band, Oh, okay. I was like, if Durant is not a part of this tribute, I am cutting this shit off. You knew it, you knew it. I said, I ain't cutting this shit. There's no way that I know Durant is present. Right, and he's not. And you have the D'Angelo tribute and he's not singing. Right, there is no way. I will cut this off. There is no way, correct, correct. So when they introduced Ari Lennox and I saw Ray was sitting up there and Durant was there, I was like, okay, we are good. We are good. Yes, here we go. What did you think? Oh, I loved it. I actually thought this was one of the best years for tributes, um, across the board. It was, and the BET awards overall, like I said, it was a good show. It just went on for a long time, but it was a good show. And this, and I do have an issue with some of the media outlets and how they reported on the D'Angelo tribute, but we'll get to that at the end of the show. However, the performances themselves. Oh God. I said, okay, yeah, you niggas really got up here and did your good singing. Yes. Thank you. It was the same for the Lauryn Hill tribute. And the, um, who else was, um, oh, I don't remember who else they, um, Was there another tribute? Tributed, but Ari, Ray, um, BJ, yes, BJ the Chicago Kid, George Clinton. Yeah. Oh, when George Clinton came out, I said I'd wear that. I said, oh, y'all, y'all are, y'all said, yeah, the legends and the youth. That's what I loved about it. It was a good mix of artists, of sounds, of talent and people, you know, putting their unique spin on, but like D'Angelo shit, you know, just, oh, it's, it's actually crazy that that man is gone, but yeah, that was so good. Isn't it? That was so good. Spoiler alert. Spoiler alert. Spoiler alert. Spoiler alert. Yeah. I'm glad that his kids got to introduce the thing and all that too. Um, so that was sweet. Let's talk about this Lauryn Hill tribute and how I cried three times. When her kids came out? Let's start with the Warren treaty. Let's start with big Tanya, the blouse, the trotter. Oh, that was actually too much for me. I said, now I am a old bitch. Okay. I remember when these girls were like 20. I remember. Right. When that lady came out. Oh no, it was too much for me. It was actually too much. I immediately got emotional. And she still sounds so good. Sounds amazing. Yeah. Her and her husband. First of all, the Warren treaty worked. Right. And yeah, I see her immediately get emotional. Then she starts singing Joyful Joyful, which already makes me feel like she's going to be a big hit. I'm like, I'm going to be a big hit. I'm going to be a big hit. good as fuck amazing yeah amazing yeah lizzo and rhapsody so here's the thing don't do this i did i i did not dislike this either i have to tell the truth i thought lizzo looked good and i thought she sounded good i did i loved the reference in her outfit yes reference if you know this you know um i thought lizzo was perfect for the the singing part of doo-wop yeah yep i and again lizzo is talented to me in both singing and rapping in fact my introduction to lizzo was her rapping on clean bandits album moons ago um i just think that she was really suited for the singing part when she came out and she started singing i was like perfect yes absolutely perfect for that yeah yep rhapsody rapping i'm like yes choices right but then the going back and right on the rap part to me was when you lost me yeah i agree i do i think that is a solid and fair uh critique of their performance but she i mean she looked great and she did sound good like she's another one who can really sing yeah so yeah and then i don't know you're probably gonna get to her son coming out too but i was like oh lord oh yeah first yg yg marley yg marley get out my face that's his name wait is it really that's her name don't bullshit me google yg marley he's the one who's saying oh oh oh okay i thought you meant yg the other yg i was like now you bullshitting yes yg her son okay yes and way too many people think that these are bob marley's kids i need y'all that's unfortunate that's really unfortunate that's super unfortunate that's very sad think about it that man has been dead for 40 some years and i really need y'all jesus they have to be super young people yeah yeah young people okay they hear marley and they just think bob but they don't i don't think they know when bob marley died or maybe even that he is dead so that's what happens when ipad and chad gbt do you yeah yeah that's what happened when ipad raised these kids they don't even have homework i think you told me something i mean lord when yg marley came out and started singing turn your lights down low i was bawling i think this was the hardest i was crying during the program yeah so i cried four times look at you because i cried when zion came out too okay so this is like the third time i cried and this and i was weeping because he sounds exactly like his granddaddy yeah like it's like he said it sounded like his grandfather yeah was singing the song yeah i said oh the jamaica's i was bawling beautiful i called my mother oh of course you did because afterwards when he said yes mommy like that's how we would say it in our accent we would say mommy i was bawling i was all over the place i was on the ground he could have killed me did um zion oh yeah coming out to the song right i grew up listening to this dedicated to him and being big and grown right and also sounding good yeah and also screaming ja yeah rastafari i was like this this tribute means so much to me why does it feel so personal i don't know these people right yeah what okay lexia j amazing choice beautiful voice sounded delicious uh let's talk about how did you feel about your dad performing with comedy i was like oh my god i'm so sorry i'm so sorry i'm so sorry i'm so sorry i'm so sorry oh you know that's when i wept i was like my there it is actual father on stage performing like this like you just gonna have to give my my mommy poppy her props every fucking time like great she did a tiktok or a reel or something being like y'all always want to know who do my hair who keep my shit laid here she go i was like thank you dad like yes the girls have been begging but uh you know anytime my dad and stepmom hit the red carpet i'm locked in so yes i said oh common have to remind y'all that he do more than date every woman in the industry he does more than be everybody's ex-boyfriend like he really do be wrapping his ass off common does have a famous rap sheet yeah i mean like a famous girl don't have no type like they all over the place yeah just black but you know right not mad but yeah because how many of these women have been like let me tell you something about this piece of shit right they don't do that they just be like oh it didn't work out which you know who knows really what happened but yeah they did uh lost ones last okay then obviously lauren uh performs twice um now this is where i said bt you know you know it's just like we do have time constraints you know and i get you know it's like icon of a generation or whatever award and not living legend award and she's the first one so i get it but this is part of what like i i zoned out because there was a part where it looked like she was finna wrap up and then she came back with even more energy and i just kind of zoned out right and then it was like oh i'm not supposed to sing but you know warm up the band and it was like wait what don't care about your time they don't care they absolutely don't they do not care she finna sing her song she said i wasn't supposed to sing but i heard they weren't doing this i heard they weren't doing this y'all not gonna do this one shit keys so fierce Um, so yeah, that was that. She got a reward. Did Nas give it to her? Who came out and gave it to her? I think it was Nas. It doesn't matter. Um, and the last thing I wrote was, is that girl named Teyana Taylor for real? I don't know if it's Teyana or Tiana. I really don't. I always say Tiana, but I heard two people. Jana said Teyana, and MC Lyfe said Teyana. And I. MC Lyfe said it first, and I was like, did she say Teyana Taylor? And then Jana did, and I was like. I heard Jana say it, but Teyana had tears pouring down her face. I said, what is the setting spray? What is the setting spray? The fact that your makeup is all over the fucking place. And you're weeping. Girl, what is on your face? I need to know. Facts. Thank you for clocking in. Because what a point. Please let us know, because anybody else would have tear tracks all in their skin, and Teyana just looked gorgeous. But yeah, if Janet fucking Jackson gave me the bitch who had a great year award, I also would be shitting bricks. And she could call me Teyana too. I'm going up there, bitch. You know she's talking to me. I don't care if that's how you say my name or not. But yeah, that was a beautiful. When Janet came out, I was like, okay, you guys in the standing up in the back, you have to sit down, because I can't see the prompter. It was so cute. Your impression, fantastic. It was cute. Um. And she was up there looking like a black Stevie Nicks. Yeah, she was. The ghetto Stevie Nicks. With her Tupac shirt on. I loved it. Yeah, that was great. Teyana's speech and everything was really sweet. You know, she has had an incredible year, and it's good to see her be honored by, you know, the people who have helped get her career where it is now. So. Yeah. It was quite nice. Those are my thoughts of the BET Awards overall. I would, out of 10, I'll do it out of 5. Out of 5, I'd give it a. You know what? I'm feeling nice. I'll give it a 4. That's what I was thinking, like a 3.9 or a 4. And I honestly think the biggest issue was Drewski. Yeah. Damn, and I really was excited for it, because I'm like, Drewski's so funny, but everybody's internet humor don't translate to real life hosting abilities. That's two different jobs. Drewski can grow. For sure. Give him some more shots. For sure. He can get better at this, because I think Drewski's hilarious, and I think that he has. Assuming he's at the core of a lot of the comedy bits he does, his TikTok sketches and stuff, he has a really. a really impressive and delightful comedic imagination. Mm-hmm. Yeah. So I think that. That could translate to being a great award show host. Yeah. I just don't think this was the time. Right, and I won't be shocked if Keke Palmer gets it next year. I will not be even reminded. moldy surprise if they're like you know what yeah actually points were made there's no way you don't go back to your dressing room with a little bit stuff right it's just a tiny bit of like even if y'all rehearsed it that way it's like the fact that the whole audience was gagging cracking up like wait a minute hooting and hollering everybody's like yeah why she don't have this job like and you know the internet was ripping too because then they reminded me that these niggas had her host in the back in her backyard oh they're on thread sprying them divas like yeah why wasn't she hosting and furthermore why did you have her host one time in her in her backyard was that like the covid year or something i think so yeah when everybody was like on zoom oh damn i didn't even think of that but you're right she probably will host she probably will right well yeah uh but overall a very enjoyable award show as far as like entertainment awards go bet is right up there um i don't think it gets better than you know i i prefer the image awards oscars emmy stuff like that like action no shade actual awards i don't want to make it seem like those are like better stuff somehow but um coveted yeah maybe the more coveted um awards for performance and that sort of thing but as far as like entertainment and a good time goes bt y'all i mean they have been doing it for some years now and i have to give them their props it was a good show they often chew tributes yeah like when they announce like oh we're doing this that's the first one that came to mind it said try songs that was rough that was rough oh i think we were all mad for yeah and then we had to see him right respond to right man oh that was rough his face his whole face was like y'all have got me fucked up so who do you think is going to eat the beyonce tribute better grammys bt um i think grammys will have the edge as far as like quality of performances yeah bt will have the most entertaining um like overall show and you know we're gonna get some and we're gonna get some you know a little extra some sprinkles of in there that you won't see at the at the uh grammys but um i i do think when when that day comes i will enjoy whatever bt does for beyonce the most and because i think they know completely you can't fuck with the hive and they have really been tightening up like you said on these performances and tributes and stuff like that so i can see them i think yeah really killing that i think bt will also um bt will also grab people that grammys wouldn't think to grab yes yes that make a whole lot of sense that make a lot of sense right so we shall see well that's really i mean are blando brown supposed to fight ray j for zeus because of course he apparently slapped ray j across the stack of cash why would zeuski say that they thought he was dead and and that whole running bit about ray j check bounce the ray j never gave them a check or whatever it was it was like i don't know i don't know i don't know i don't know what is happening right in front of that man's face like what is is this part of the joke i don't really get it yeah there was quite a bit of that my second husband skeptic was on twitter and said uh he spoke out about these niggas taking pictures with north oh man what did we just say what did we just fucking say about northwest going on tour who's going to be buying the tickets who's going to be standing in line who's going to be trying to record that little girl from all kind of angles and zoomed up right grown nasty men a 13 year old girl feeling like she has to hug a stranger grown man newly 13 absolutely not kim kim get your child away from these people skeptic said my fans know i try to stay out of people's business but damn the way grown men complete strangers try to use north makes me sick yes when do they provide five vomiting emojis oh thank you when some idiot said is hugging a social offense now skeptic responded what are you talking about she's 13 years old she put her hand out for a handshake you don't ignore that i can't believe some of these replies to my tweet he's responding to a video of some guy many people obviously coming up to try and take pictures with north there's one in particular where north like reaches her hand out to shake this guy's hand and he instead hugs her and then goes to like take a picture whatever here's this one's rough this one's rough someone then said with all those piercings she's only a child by age not outlook she's based she basically skipped being a teenager oh my god now i want to believe that was rage bait because are you okay has to be big smoke scavenger just said wow protect your kids people protect your kids literally because what what she skipped being a teenager she literally just got here like yeah a month ago maybe she just got here so not only did she not skip right she literally just started being a teenager everybody calmed down i don't like this no i don't like and i said it i did we said it as soon as this was announced this does not sound like a good idea kimberly conyavious get that child away from the public eye it is no reason for strange men to have physical access to your daughter this is disgusting that's i don't like y'all are setting herself anyway anyway uh them people responding to skeptic need to be on a list the fuck are you talking about one thousand percent how do we arrest these people i was gonna say i also would argue and you could um loop in here because you have an education i would also argue that the idea that north is kind of maturing fast through piercings and edgy music or whatever might have a lot to do with the fact that north is kind of maturing fast through piercings and edgy music or whatever might have a lot to do with the environment she's growing up in. The fact that both her parents are a hot-ass mess, and both, you know what I'm saying, fame whores. Right. You know, the fact that all her business has been out in the streets, and she was crying front row at Prada. Right. Mm-hmm. I want to think that a lot of this rebellious, punk rock stuff, while there's nothing wrong with being rebellious and having piercings and being punk rock, but at 12 years old, I feel like there might be this aspect of, I don't know, just finding an edge or looking for an edgy personality as a way to just, I don't know. Oh, fight, rebel, be your own person, not feel neglected. Help me out. All of that is extremely normal teenage behavior. Like, that's the, are you talking about, like, the kids wanting to, like, have blue hair and put spikes in their ears or whatever? Like, no, I'm saying, like, just the idea that it's like, I'm 12 years old, I'm piercing all over the place, and I'm making rap music, and I'm going on tour. Well, right. I'm thinking, like. How much does that have to do with what she's growing up with and your grandmother? I mean, your mother basically being your grandmother now. Grandma is the baby. Yeah. Well. Grandma's the baby. North specifically is doing some of those more extreme things, like piercings, or more specifically going on tour, doing meet and greets and stuff like that, because it is what her parents allow. And that is, so that's why my issue here is fully around Kim and Kanye. Why, y'all know how famous you are individually. Why in the hell would you subject your minor daughter to this? Like, I'm really not getting it. It's just not enough protection around this girl, and it's starting now, you know? We've seen the videos of it now. And so I just would hate for August to get here in a month or so when she's on stage. And it's grown men camped out as soon as, you know, before the gates open so they can be front row to get a look-up Northwest skirt or whatever. You know? No! Yes, it's going to be pedophiles. Yes! Yes, it absolutely is. It's going to be the worst men. It is. It's going to be the worst men lining up to see that little girl. So I'm not understanding why Kim and Kanye are putting their child in that situation. So, yeah, at this point, this is 100% on her parents and what they are allowing her to do. She doesn't have that kind of control over her life. I guess I'm just thinking of, like, when her auntie decided she wanted to be 30 when she was 15. You know what I mean? She was like, oh, I'm grown. Yeah. And I always thought, well, okay, you grew up in this messy-ass house with your mama who essentially pimped out all of your older sisters who have a different daddy and look a bit different than you. And so, like, I want to mature quickly because I want to be like them. I guess that was kind of it. Well, I mean, it's all kind of permissive sort of family environment. Because I've heard the two little, not little, hell, Kylie and Kendall. I've heard those two talk about how their mama was so obsessed with the older girls, especially Kim, that they just kind of did whatever. And Kendall was like, yeah, I lost my virginity right here in this house. And Kris was like, what? Where was I? She was like, where were you? Yeah, great question. You didn't give a shit. I was out here doing whatever I wanted to do. Like, me and Kylie was out here fitting it for ourselves. I'm like. God damn. So this is just, this is the way y'all parent. But is it going to take a tragedy for y'all to tighten up? Kim, didn't Kim already have that, like, that home invasion or whatever in Paris where niggas came in? Oh my God, I forgot about that. Right? And you would just think that at this point you truly, I cannot understand why they're allowing North to have access to these strangers, y'all. I really don't get that. You're not going to walk up to Blue Ivy trying to shake hands. Or hug or shit else. Like, you're just not going to do it. That's not going to happen for you. So I'm not understanding why Kim and Kanye don't have that same kind of protective spirit over their child. I don't know. I just thought of that time that I hosted that Jhene Aiko concert way back when. Oh, I remember that. When it was at Times Square. And Willow was one of the openers. She was a minor at the time. Jada Pinkett Smith was really. Right there, the side of the stage. Sharon being cool. She was super nice to me and all that stuff like I mentioned. But I will never forget. That young lady went on that stage. She got there. She went on that stage. She performed. She got off that stage. Her mama took her home. Correct. Correct. Because you don't have no business at the Sony Theater in Times Square backstage with all these grown niggas smoking weed and drinking and God only knows what else. You came here to whip your hair and go home. And no shade. It really wouldn't even know about. I would be back there at that point. Oh, probably that early in the show. Yeah. But people mostly in their dressing rooms want no milling about. But either way, it wasn't like, oh, we're going to come back here and take some pictures or come say hi to this record executive. She was like, no, it's your song. They lived. We're going. And you know why? Because everybody already knows who Willow Smith is. You want to book Willow? You know who to contact. You know, this is not some little girl chasing. A dream and needs mommy and daddy to to hustle to make her dreams come true. This is already an extremely privileged child doing something because she wants to. So it's all the more. That's all the more reason why it does not make sense for Kim and Kanye to be so lax about the security around Northwest. What are y'all doing? Sure. Pray for North for real. Because God damn. Yeah. God. And that's on Bob squeeze. Yeah. Well, that's it for the hot tops this week. We're going to take a break and then get into your mess because I know you've got it. Welcome back, folks, to the show. It is time for your listener letters. Indeed, it is. Send your letters to ask for read at Gmail dot com. We may read them aloud on the show. Our first letter. This. This week comes from Coco, who says, I finally realized. Oh, I finally freed myself from a four year long relationship and I'm starting to put myself back out there. I'm a 32 year old college educated straight black woman with no kids in Fort Lauderdale. So the pickings are. Oh, word. This year, I've dated two guys who fell who fell head over heels for me quickly. And I felt the same way for them for about a month. I love the first guy. I made it easy to break up with him because he was sorry as hell. But the second guy I've been seeing since April and he's super sweet and cool. We get along very well, but he's just not the one for me. I got the ick when I saw how much he sweats when he gets hot and his legs got swollen when we're at a concert together. Plus, he got two kids. Oh, let's be friends. At first, I was kind of open to being a Brady Bunch stepmama because I love kids, but I don't think he makes enough in this economy to court me. The way I want to be courted. He's in school, so I know he's doing his best like the rest of us. But going back to the sweating thing, I think the ick just has not subsided. Damn. Part of me knows I need to work through why I be falling for people so fast and leading these niggas on. But my question is, how do you break things off with a good person who didn't necessarily do anything wrong, but they just aren't the best fit for you? This man wants to plan a cruise next month and part of me really wants to go on a vacation and then break up with him afterwards. I love that. I love this bitch. But that's kind of fucked up, so I know I should do it sooner than later. Please help Coco. Coco, I'm obsessed with you. Yeah, I'm kind of. You really get it. I'm inspired. Because me too. What you mean you're doing a bunch of sweating and your legs got swollen at the Brandy concert? Yeah, I got the ick and I'm not getting over it. I love that. Here's the condition. I mean, it may be so, but the thing about the ick is that. It just happens. You think I want. Yeah, it does. I don't want to catch the ick. I don't want to, but then something happens and it's just. It has come over me. I thought this was a Virgo problem, but maybe not. How do you break things off with someone over something that might seem trivial? Well, I mean, this is just part of dating, but it is my. This is my least favorite part. I hate breaking it. I hate breaking it off with people who didn't do nothing wrong, where it's just like. Especially because it's like, I'm feeling like we're not aligned, but you're not feeling that way. You're like, oh no, this is great. You know, we having a good time, blah, blah, blah. And I'm over here like, damn, when should I let you know that this is not going to happen? So, you really just scrounge up the courage to just kind of spit it out. It might be, you've been seeing him since April. Okay, that's not that long, actually. Less than three months. Yeah. So, do it before he plans the cruise. Do it before he books the tickets and all that. Because let me tell you, if you caught the ick at a concert, seeing that man on a boat in the middle of the summer, sweating with swollen legs, you're going to have the ick then, too. And you're going to be like, damn, why did I bring myself on this trip? But this man turns me off. Right. And you're on a boat. You can't escape. So, what I found useful is doing it when we're out. Not like at a show or even at dinner, but like at a bar or something. And, you know, I'll just be like, so, you know, about the rest of the summer, what you finna be doing? You know, like. I'll say something like that. Be like, you know, we've had a good time, but, you know, I'm just kind of out here seeing what really is aligned with me and what fits, you know, blah, blah, blah. Or if they bring up the conversation about, like, going to the next level, that kind of gives you an out to be like, huh, I'm glad you brought that up because I actually don't see a next level. But no matter how you approach it, it is hard to say. It is. It's hard to be like. Because people always want to know why. And sometimes it's genuinely, I don't feel that spark with you. I don't feel the chemistry with you like I thought I did. We've been getting to know each other and the feeling has been fading instead of getting stronger. Like, these are all signs that you are not the one for me. So, it doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you. I just don't. We are not aligned. But it is a hard thing to say. You kind of just got to spit it out. Okay. So, let's say you spit it out and they're like, they want to know why. And your response is like, I don't really know. I'm not really sure. It just feels like it's not working. And then that person like gets upset with you. Then what? Oh, well, I mean, you're entitled to have your feelings, but not to have them around me. So, I'm going to go ahead and pay for my drink. That's what I was looking for. Oh, this is getting tough. Oh, I should just. This sounds like a conversation for your group chat. you seem like you need some alone time i think maybe you ought to call a friend call one of your friends yeah see if they can help talk you through this because this is again this is just a regular part of dating but yeah yeah sometimes you do hurt people's feelings and it sucks hopefully they take it graciously i've i have been very fortunate every time i've done this the other person they've all been women they have all taken it very graciously and been like i get it yeah you know we had a good time together wishing you the best you know one even sent me two dozen roses on my birthday like three or four weeks after i ended things with her she was like yeah you know i know i know we're not seeing each other anymore but still happy birthday you know just nice shit yeah that's so yeah um so i've been i've been very fortunate to uh come across people who handle that well but otherwise yeah if that's why i say you know do it at a bar or something so if he started getting all in his feelings and why i did this i bought you apple bees two times like okay i'm going home like i don't have time for all that yeah take care it is over take care you know see you around but it's not an easy thing to do you know nobody wants to be the one to hurt somebody's feelings but better to let you go now so you can go find somebody who feels the same way about you then that you feel about them than me sitting around pretending that i like you and wasting your fucking time and having your feelings and your feelings and your feelings get deeper and then you just end up even more hurt when this inevitably ends when i could have saved both of us the time and the heartache like i mean yeah yeah yeah completely but you know something else what is her name again what was the thing is coco you actually don't sound too shy bashful or unafraid i agree you just go ahead i would also do it like a nice um public cash place a bar feels appropriate maybe even a coffee shop depending on how the drinking works so if that nigga start wide and you can be like okay well you just go ahead and take care of my tab right bartender uber's three minutes away yeah gonna go wash my hands before i leave bye yeah break up with it i think we've said all the time you can break up with somebody just you don't have to have a reason right besides i don't want to do but it is hard it is yeah you feel bad and you probably try to make it work longer than you should because you're like i don't want to i don't want to end thing this is a good guy i don't want to end things over something stupid or you know the vibe's not being right just sweaty and swole sweaty and swole oh but good luck with coke with practice coco this will get much easier yeah all right next up is jeffrey who says did care dear kefir and crystal i'm a 36 year old black queer man living in houston when my father passed away in 2024 i had been living with my parents for a few years due to a layoff and an extremely long job search process once i got a full-time job again i stayed with them to help with expenses and to help take care of my dad i started my house search and purchased my first home last february and moved my mom in with me we discussed this in advance and she decided to cover half of my mortgage and a few of the other household expenses this has worked well and it continues to work well to this day my issue and stress stems from my 34 year old sister who unfortunately had to move in with me and my mom last fall after she was laid off my sister isn't the easiest person to live with or be around sometimes mind you we have not lived under the same roof since before i left for college in 2008 i love my sister and try to be understanding supportive and all those things big brothers should be for their younger siblings we once had a family meeting to discuss some of her behavior issues and she then disclosed to us that she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder she can go from zero to a hundred at the drop of a hat and there have been several times she's been diagnosed with bipolar disorder since the very first day of her life and she's been diagnosed with bipolar disorder since the very first day of her life and she's been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and she would respond with an elevated tone that would lead to us arguing she has made comments such as well that's why you can't pay all your bills by yourself which is first of all something that is totally between me and our mother and does not in any way involve her and number two my sister don't pay any of the bills in the house anyway i'm at a point where in order for us to maintain some sort of relationship i think she knew she needs to move out my and my mother agrees ideally it would be best if my sister got her own place again so i'm hoping by the end of the year she will have enough money saved up to leave i'm quite over it and the discord she has brought disturbs my peace and stirs up my anxiety what is a healthy way to approach having a conversation with her when she is constantly on the offensive and deflects when she doesn't want to face accountability love you guys thanks so much jeffrey thanks for the letter jeffrey i feel like we get a lot of letters about family members moving back in with each other and getting on the economy is bad laid off everybody's getting laid everybody everybody it's just non-stop so yeah fuck i can't wait for this bitch to be gone sure he's got to go he has got to go it's just like the rot is expand is it a supernatural rot it feels that way don't it like the rot is multiplying faster than what anybody can do about it like yeah it's spreading like you're doing comic hero movies right like like the curse is is bad like the time oh god you ran out of time before the curse began right or maybe he didn't he stopped sacrificing enough people the clock struck midnight or whatever and it's just yeah the whole planet is getting covered in garbage because of this man i'm so sorry you have uh an excellent question that's important how do you approach this because i i get the um feeling the the sort of complication i love my sister i want for us to have a good relationship which has already been rocky right but i fear if she don't get the fuck out of here it's gonna be me or her right and this is your house yes and this is your house so you know i is this is hard because there's a part of me that's like you know oh the mental health counselor answer versus the actual human being answer and a lot of that patience and shit goes right out the window when you talk about when i hear stuff like you are living for free in my house working my nerves and then got the nerve to be like well that's why you can't pay your bills by yourself bitch you can't either that's why you're in my house me and mama taking care of everything in this bitch everything you are here for the free ski how you open your mouth to talk about what anybody can do about it i'm so sorry i'm so sorry i'm so sorry i'm so sorry i'm so sorry i can't afford it's beyond me and but then it's like oh she has bipolar so like how do we have this conversation in a way that's not just like me being like get your broke ass out my house then which is what i would want to say i respect the fact though that like that would still probably be the first the first thing that i said who the fuck are you talking to to dial it back the fuck nothing right yeah so who are you talking to who are you talking to that so you know and and so for a lot of people this is about like finding the line between supporting a loved one who really does need the support and also not letting them run you into the ground so there's a lot of you know express your feelings by saying i this and that you know um you're not turning into a like you do such and such you piss me off you this you that especially because especially if what she's talking about has nothing to do with her disorder like just being like oh well that's why you can't pay your bills it's just kind of like who again who the fuck are you talking to but um what else is she doing is she on her meds is she seeing a therapist psychiatrist like good question what other support does she have because if she's out here raw dogging bipolar the chances that she's going to get her shit together enough to move out of your house by the end of the year are slim to none so i would come up with some sort of plan ideally the three of you can sit down and talk about this um and come up with some sort of support plan where we're holding her accountable but we're also helping her do the things that she needs to do in order to get shit done for herself so like if you don't have insurance let's find government insurance or like free or low-cost clinics in the area that can help you with your mood disorder let's find you know like this might be harder it might take more time because of course in america everything is easier when you have money but So let's work together. And as long as the three of us are on the same page about working together to help support you and help you meet your goals, while at the same time holding you accountable for the things you say and do, then maybe this can work out in a way that everybody can feel like they can peacefully coexist. But if she's not willing to get help, if she's not willing to do anything for herself, if it has to be you and your mama to do everything for her, y'all got to force her to go to the doctor. Y'all got to remind her to take her meds. Y'all got to remind her to fill out job applications and all this. And she just, like, you can't, you can lead the horse to water, you can't make them drink, like, basically, to put it extremely plainly. And so at that, I'm willing to help you as long as you're willing to help yourself. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. If you're not willing to help yourself get to a baseline, then what the fuck am I supposed to do? Because I'm not signing up at 36 to be your caregiver for the rest of my life. I'm not doing that. I'm not. Yeah. So that's, that's, that would be my healthy way of approaching this conversation. After I say, bitch, who are you talking to? Because you can't pay no bills and you wouldn't have a phone or shit else if it wasn't for me and mama right now saving your ass. So. Duality. Keep the cunty shit to yourself. Before I change the locks in these bins. Yeah. But, yes. I fully agree. There has to be a line. And the quicker and calmer that you address it and establish firm, firm boundaries, the better. Right. Because it's going to get, it's going to feel harder, become harder, the longer it takes you to do something, the longer you allow it. Mm-hmm. It's like arguing. Right. So. Right. It best be, be settled now. Yes. Especially because that's one of those things that, like, you know, again, you let it simmer. Mm-hmm. Boy, when it blows. Like, girl. It's a mess when it blows. Red walls. And that is a specific kind of bold. Right. You can't pay your bills. Honey, have you met you? Is anything in your name while you yapping? And that's why you mentioned, like, having the conversation calmly is so important. It really is. And at the same time, somebody disrespecting you like that, the last thing you want to do is be calm about it. The last thing you want to do is be like, I'm going to put that to the side and approach this in a mature, loving, responsible. Most people are not thinking that. Most people are thinking, you got a lot of goddamn nerve. When my bills. The average person. My bills are higher because you're in my home. Imagine how much money I would have left over if you got out of my house. See? See? See? Yeah. That was delivered in a calm way. But it was not a calm message. It was not. You want to have a calm message in a calm tone. And you might have to wait till everybody. You know, you can't do this when she's in the middle of an episode or whatever. But it is a challenge like that. Bipolar is a mood disorder and it is a very real challenge. But there is support out there if she wants it. If she don't want it, then what are you going to do with yourself? Because my home is not available for you to freeload off of until you decide that you're going to get your shit together in three, five, nine years, whatever. It's not. So what's the plan? Because, again, I'm willing. The more you're working towards taking care of yourself, the more I am going to be willing to help you. The more I'm going to want to help you. But I'm not going to do it for you because I already have to do it for me. Nobody's taking care of me in this way. Nobody's bending over backwards and, you know, licking their own asshole to make sure that I can get shit done. Like, it's not happening. So, yeah, we're going. You don't think I wanted other things? You don't think I had dreams and aspirations? What about my life? What about me? All right. Spences. Man, Viola, you deserve so much better. That character. Woo! Shit. Well, slavery. You worked with an Academy Award winning actor. I did. You mean? The Octavia Spencer. Yes, Octavia. I did. I watched that episode. Star of Ma. At least three. It's great stuff. It is inexplicably hilarious. It is great stuff. Yeah, completely agreed. You just said something a second ago that was so fierce. I can't remember. You said something a second ago that was really, really fierce, though. So, that. Okay, good luck, Jeffrey. And hopefully your sister, you know, decides to really put the work in and take care of you. Take care of herself. Because, again, this is hard, but it is manageable. So, good luck. Yes, going forward. All right. Our last letter comes from Mary, who says, Hi, Chris Lincoln Fury. I'm a Black woman in her early 20s dealing with a friendship dilemma. Since I'm home for summer break from college, I've been hanging out with my high school friends, Brian and Amy, more regularly. We talk and catch up and genuinely have a good time together. But there's one issue. That keeps coming up any time the three of us go somewhere. Brian never seems to have any money and usually has an attitude about it. He has openly told me that he don't like working and he isn't actively doing much to change that. I try not to judge people based on their circumstances, but this is where things start to get frustrating. Whenever we go out, Brian complains that everything is too expensive. Our friend Amy is very empathetic and she often accommodates him. She'll cover his food and let him pay her back later, or she's very kind of her, but I do feel like it consistently brings down the energy and the vibes. It's hard to enjoy yourself when someone is constantly complaining about money, but still chooses to tag along. Recently, Brian had two free tickets to an activity, so he suggested the three of us go together. We split the cost of the third ticket evenly, but the moment we arrived, Brian immediately started complaining about everything and had a bad attitude. We all still went in and Amy was the only one who was able to come in. Amy and I enjoyed ourselves, but it was obvious Brian was upset about having to spend money. Afterwards, we wanted to grab food because we were all hungry and there weren't many options nearby except for a burger spot. Knowing Brian's financial situation, Amy and I asked him multiple times if he was okay with eating there, and each time he said it was fine. Once we got to the restaurant, I ordered a burger and a drink. Amy ordered her food as well, and that's when Brian's mood shifted. He started saying things like, this place is too expensive, and then announced that he wasn't hungry anymore. Amy reminded him earlier that he had been talking non-stop about how hungry he was, but he doubled down. While we were eating, Brian repeatedly asked, how's your food? We told him it was good the first time, but he kept on. It felt passive-aggressive, and it really irritated me. Eventually, Brian asked the waiter if he could get a free basket of fries, and when he found out the answer was yes, he ordered three of them hoes. Brian is a trip. After lunch, Amy drove us home. The entire ride back, Brian barely spoke to either of us. I'm assuming because he was upset about the restaurant situation. Are Amy and I wrong for not accommodating Brian more? Do you think I should consider moving forward with this friendship? At this point, I'm starting to question whether this is even worth maintaining because of the constant complaining, and because his constant complaining and negative attitude are becoming exhausting. Thanks, Mary. The girls are, are bold this week. I, hmm. My first thought is that Brian is big projecting, projecting. Probably. And if this person's like my true friend, there's a part of me that would sympathize, you know, with that. Yep. At the same time. Yep. Pipe down, girl. First of all, like, I can't have a burger in pieces. Are you cool? Right. Um, so yeah, I actually live for Amy being like, girl, you just said she was hungry, so. What? Because it feels like it slightly opens the door to ask Brian. You know, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, what's going on? Why is it that every time we come out someplace, you start complaining and bringing up stuff, you know, about money? Like, we all want to have fun. We want you to have fun, too. Right. It seems, though, like, whenever we go out, you are not having fun. So. Yeah. Care to share your thought? You know, I would, I would think I would address it head on. Right. And try not to be like, aggressive or combative about it. Because it just seems to me like he complaining because he know he ain't got money, but he's uncomfortable about it. Right. But, you know, and that goes back to what you said about, you know, depending on how close we are. friends because if we're close enough you can say that to me you can say yeah well i'm actually just really frustrated and it's not anybody's fault and i'm sorry for taking it out on you i'm just frustrated that i don't have the disposable income to you know it's easier for y'all to split a movie ticket or you know buy a burger and drinks or whatever and i'm just you know i i shouldn't have taken that out on y'all and um i'm feeling frustrated about that but also brian said he don't like working which i mean girl join the club hello i think most people get out of bed like woohoo i get to go spend 8 to 12 hours at work today wait a minute i forgot about that early portion of the fight right okay so brian super shut your ass up it's a wonder you can do anything with no job because in my early 20s my mama would have been like if you need pocket money then guess what you better go on down to the quick trip to the walmart to the cvs to the walgreens to the family dollar somebody yes and get yourself my mom would give me a little bit of pocket money here and there when i was in my early 20s in college only if i wasn't working and only because i was not where only time i wasn't working because i couldn't find a job yes typically because i don't speak spanish oh yes and i can see how that would be in miami even worse yeah yeah like it's you have a dark skin and you don't speak spanish well girl why don't you just jump into the ocean don't come why don't you just die move to tampa actually yeah but i'm talking about here goes some gas money yeah right make this 20 stretch and and you know you can't even do that with 20 now you can't even 20 ain't stretching longer than a day it's not so that's the fries you're not even getting and y'all got free fries no i feel like the waiter felt bad for him like the fries are not free the waiter was just like damn your friends all eating real food and you just over here looking sad talking about is it good like come on nigga come on i forgot that brian had the nerve to be like i don't want to work unless that's projection too i mean i think it's it's very so early 20s is solidly gen z and gen z i think is different from millennials in a way of like millennials also don't like working but we have just kind of resigned ourselves to like but you have to it's like yeah you know no we don't like it but what's the alternative like you right you i wasn't born wealthy therefore i have to work that's capitalism yeah whereas i think a lot of gen zers are like i don't like working so i'm not going to like and if my mommy and daddy don't force me out the house then i don't really have to you know if nobody makes me work i'm not going to like i don't like working so i'm not going to make you work then you really don't have to now me i couldn't get out them people house fast enough so baby i started working at 15 i started working before i even had a car i started working immediately saving up because i knew i was gonna be getting out them people house um but yeah this is the downside to that brian like yeah you you watching you know naruto or whatever while the side is that good show when it comes time to kick it with the homies on the weekend we can go get a burger and a margarita and not make everybody else at the table feel uncomfortable so i don't think y'all are wrong for not it doesn't it sounds it almost sounds like he's dry begging like the oh is your food good damn i wish i had a bag of chips yeah it kind of sound like that but like stank right right but then you got like an attitude that people don't just offer to pay for you but we all have to pay for it so i'm not going to be like i'm not going to be like i'm not going to be all work for our money bro nobody's independently wealthy like i i don't and it sounds like your friend amy does cover him sometimes you know lets him sell her back or whatever like y'all have been open to people having different levels of income so it sounds like the real issue here is his attitude about not having enough money and that's why and and so that goes back to so either we're talking about it and you can be real with us about it or we confront you about it and you just shut down or start getting more defensive and blah blah and it's like okay so now we can't go nowhere like now where are we supposed to go if you can't be open with us about what's really going on with you because your attitude is fucking up the group dynamic so now what yeah can we talk about it or no what's going on bro what's going on because if you need help getting over the fact that you don't like working you don't like working you can always text me in the morning i'll be like bitch i'm on my way to work too don't this suck like we can commiserate if that's what we need to do but yeah yeah you want enough extra money to go out and do shit like this with your home girls most of us have to work baby i'm so sorry who else is gonna fund it not my parents so yeah no every weekend no hell no absolutely i just can't imagine i just can't imagine being a the friend to be outed fridays or whatever and i don't have any money i could just stop there because why i'm at fridays with these niggas that i ain't got no money i'm gonna tell y'all i don't have money so i'm not gonna order nothing right i've done that right i've done that yes because sometimes you don't got it but you still want to kick it and that's you still want to kick it that's fine yeah and sometimes the camaraderie is worth right and and you know and right if i'm getting a steak and fries then yes i will share my fries with you yes you can i was about to say that i've always had a do you want a fry friend and that person is just vital yes i would love a fry right sometimes you have the friend who orders the triple dipper for the table and they be like you know if you want a fried egg roll then dive right in and you're probably more likely to come across the do you want a fry bread if you are not immediately walking into the establishment going god damn seven dollars for you know what i mean you know right like you might just when you're a nice person to be around people kind of want to it's like the other person you know like it's easier for people to be nice to you when you're nice to them it's easier for people to want to be helpful and generous and you know it's easier for people to be nice to you when you're nice to them it's in that way so brian whatever is motivating his attitude problem yeah he gonna have to get a hold of that to be addressed right it does sooner than later um so i would bring it up uh maybe with the three of them um but maybe not i don't i don't i also don't want him to feel like y'all are jumping him about this like we know you broke but quit acting broke and mad about it you know but i think you could do it in like a hangout setting that isn't y'all all sitting with money you spent together like you know like maybe when y'all go to the beach or like some other hangout over at the crib together then maybe you can bring it up there right but i don't think i'd bring it up when everybody got a t-bone in front right you know right but yeah it sounds like uh sounds like brian's got some shit on his mind that's bugging him and it's not like he's gonna be able to do it it's coming out as like well everything else is the problem yeah and like chris will say when when it's messing up the group dynamic it's like okay girl can i have my bacon cheese in peace right exactly because again if you want to vent about how capitalism is stupid i can do that for weeks we can do that and now's the time we can do that for months when we can bitch about having to that we can go outside and enjoy our nice things with our tiny little crumbs of free time that capitalism decides to sprinkle upon us we can be baby we can bitch about that all day but if i'm sacrificing to go to work why shouldn't you like you don't want to i'm and why should you then right make it ruin my burger time when i get so little burger time in the first place like and this is summer break y'all you're going right back to school probably in six to eight weeks so it's like come on brian i don't want to i don't want to leave with shit being awkward between us or feeling like damn brian really not a real friend no more so let's just try to have the conversation but that's all you can do you can't force him to talk about it if he really don't want to and you can't force him to change his attitude if he's insisting on keeping it so good luck with uh with broaching the conversation though do you remember the time that you gagged my set and and put me onto the fact that burger time is a game oh yes what a fun game not a game chris yes the hell it is you're making that up yes it was absolutely yes yes the hell it is oh man i used to love that game oh well yeah let's get cooking um all right so that is gonna wrap up the listener letters this week if If you do have a question for us, send us an email. asktheread at gmail.com we'll be right back alright folks we have returned and it is time for the read you can go first mine is foolishness and God only knows how long it's going to take okay love that two quick things this week first of all what is this outlet called is it on style in style us weekly in ain't he just be saying shit okay completely different publication right right right right and that's my bad it's fine so as we were talking about earlier BET had a really beautiful tribute to D'Angelo at the BET awards this was reported on by a lot of media outlets including us weekly now us weekly decided to take a screenshot from the program to promote it and they posted this on I don't know Instagram Facebook whatever with the caption so icon D'Angelo's children let an emotional tribute to their late father at the 2026 BET awards they include a screenshot of two of D'Angelo's children the younger two kids um mmm mmm Imani and Morocco they very conveniently cropped out D'Angelo's older son Michael Archer Jr. and at first you might think oh well maybe this was just some sort of accident they weren't really thinking about it blah blah blah but then when you look at the full image it's almost like I do think y'all did this on purpose because D'Angelo's two younger children are lighter skinned and the daughter has long hair um and you know smaller bodies that sort of thing whereas his child his oldest son his firstborn who he had with Angie Stone that kid is a lot taller dark skin bigger body all this so it's like did us weekly deliberately crop out the dark skinned fat black man who is not only one of D'Angelo's kids but his first born child his first one who was by his father's side in the hospital as he died y'all cropped him out of the post about the tribute for they daddy at the award show you know some shit has been going on for so long and in such insidious ways that I can't believe that it was done innocently or well we just had no idea no y'all knew exactly what you were doing and you showed the lighter skinned smaller people on purpose because you're us weekly and and you're garbage like that is just so there's been a lot of outrage about it and I think very rightfully so because again the this is also D'Angelo's child whose mother also passed away like was that even two years ago at this point I don't think so was it I don't think it was I don't think right I don't think Angie Stone has right I don't think she's even been gone that long so it's like the disrespect of this young man who is the son of two of the greatest neo-soul artists like period like just period you can you can put the cap on it right there um the disrespect of him because of his body and skin tone is really fucking disgusting girl cropping him out of the picture about his daddy's tribute for what what was it gone hard to acknowledge all three of D'Angelo's children no matter what they look like I want whoever's in charge at JPMorgan Chase to make that or JPMorgan Chase I'm moving on to my next one whoever's in charge at Us Weekly um I want y'all to explain that to me and make it extremely fucking clear because right now it's looking like right because right now it's looking like colorism and fat phobia so would y'all like to chime in and let us know what it was instead because I'm not getting it could you cropped him out now right like it's more effort to do that like it's just it's so disrespectful to this the only child of these two legends like I just don't God y'all are such assholes and I mean these are grieving people like this is to just act like he isn't there or doesn't exist or doesn't matter because of the way he looks is so incredibly fucked up but speaking of things that are fucked up have you seen the video of the woman at the Knicks parade in head-to-toe Knicks gear who took the orange and blue trash can off the sidewalk and dumped the trash onto the sidewalk and then took the trash can home on the train with her I hate New York anyway I hate New York that is so fierce so her name is apparently Angie Baez she's apparently 40 years old and she was the executive director of community and industry engagement for card and connected commerce at JPMorgan Chase what? yes she was also previously the executive director of DEI at the infatuation which Chase inquired or acquired and so then you know they gave her a title that sounded less like director of DEI but that's essentially what she was she's caught on video taking this custom orange and blue trash can and dumping the sidewalks on the on the dumping the contents on the sidewalk and getting on the train with it stealing it basically taking it home and she has been fired from her position for this now I mean on the one hand I cannot blame the girls we cannot have you out here littering or publicly dumping trash or whatever the legal term is for it and stealing a goddamn trash can that you could have bought for $20 off of Amazon and spray painted your fucking self like the fact that you took it home Angie are you out of your mind? she's also apparently a Bronx native so I don't want to hear nothing about transplants coming through and fucking up the city this was one of y'all's own so on the one hand it's like I get it girl you work for JPMorgan Chase they can't have somebody stealing breaking the law on camera and representing the company at the same time I want to cuss this bitch out so bad because what made you think that even if you wanted to steal the trash can okay let's say although I have a hard time believing you didn't make a lot of money like I I don't know they sell the trash can online girl I just feel like you could have bought one um and had somebody else right even if you wanted it why wouldn't you dump the trash into another trash can why would you just kind of very ceremoniously do do do do dump all that shit on the fucking sidewalk like we don't already have a roach and rat and mouse and infestation problem in this city the city is not known for being overly clean why would you as a New York native turn around and fuck it up even worse why would you do that I actually think you would have got away with stealing the trash can and keeping your job had you not dumped all the goddamn trash onto the street facts you you look like an entitled white woman who saw something she wanted and said I'm going to have it no matter what and so this video of her not just dumping I don't even think she's white but it's a video of her not just dumping the trash but it's a video of her hugging the trash can on the train it's like multiple people caught this bitch on video and you didn't think hmm I'm the director of community and industry engagement at JPMorgan Chase maybe I shouldn't do this so now you are 40 years old and lost your job in the stupidest way possible you got the whole city talking about what a dumbass you are and the cherry on top she ended up having to return the fucking trash can and then NYC Sanitation posted about it they posted a picture of the trash can talking about welcome home I said oh my god I hate this place how is this a real city how is this real life you lost your job you've been publicly humiliated your family probably deeply shamed and you gave the trash can back what did we learn Andrew what did we learn what did we learn I just love the coffee cups I love the picture Duncan did you go to did you google it did you see her yes in her fucking braids in her fucking jersey while niggas are in the background looking like ugh right because why are you hugging a trash can on the train why are you hugging it why are you dumping trash why are you as a New Yorker dumping trash onto the city so that you can take a trash can home that you could easily purchase for yourself why are you doing that and why wouldn't you at least pour the trash into another trash can do you not love the city I would never do New York life like this i would never litter on new york like this this is insane so you doing crap i don't even know how you're gonna get another job because as soon as they google you this dumb shit comes up that is crazy yes to lose like you said a likely incredible right incredible job because you dumped trash you're disposing of garbage right right on the sidewalk right and then stealing a nick's can't trash can and then on the train look at all happy come live with us in the palace there's a room waiting for and had to pay 175 dollars in fines you the city for littering and impending department of sanitation operations so you you lost in every conceivable way angie people been talking so bad about you your body and all this to me that has nothing to do with it it's more of how fucking stupid do you have to be to see cameras knowing the job that you have and still commit this crime as dumb as this crime is why would you still do it like yes a parade is going on and they cleaning up anyway but the sanitation niggas they work hard enough okay again the the city is disgusting thank you they work hard enough so why add to the issue yes child nyc sanitation posted the trash basket after she brought it back talking about we missed you welcome back humiliated and now they're selling them hoes online it's like damn i could have just waited and not took an absolutely filthy trash can with my bare hands mind you god only knows what all was on your hands and then carry that on the train all the way back home like out of your fucking mind angie i hate to be on the side of government and and big you know fortune 500 businesses and shit like that but girl you gave these white people no other choice they had to fire you and i just i really did not want to believe it was true i said there's no way this lady really has that good ass job probably making three hundred thousand dollars a year and did something this fucking stupid but she did oh long live new york what a way to lose a job man man and to be the whole internet is talking about what a dumb ass you are and how nasty you are just filthy yuck anyway someone has to do a piece on like like top five most fabulous arrests after the girls were gonna go wild and crazy and do amazing things but wow stealing a trash can and making out with it on the way home is crazy and okay no i just it's hard to wrap your mind around because it's like there's simply no way there's you can buy this you can make it's just an orange and blue trash can you can make this oh okay anyway good luck getting another job that's it for me i'm all done okay well for me i would just like to take this time to recognize a couple of things from this past sunday's house of the dragon episode so i have to speak to the girls renera you're up first um so they bring her another dead ass on home right uh you know here he comes smelling like seawater with i don't know three four arrow wounds to the body but they're carrying it so that's nice and um you're gonna have the nerve to ask this dead boy what have you done how could you do this now let me tell you something that it's okay the scene okay emma darcy better win all the awards they on thread they're on threads right now calling them emmy darcy because let me get this person up oh the acting that they gave in this scene was phenomenal nice phenomenal because she comes out with this like like she can already tell without even looking that something's happened to her son and she's she sees her son and she's like oh my god i'm so sorry i'm so sorry i'm so sorry i'm so sorry and she sees him and she's immediately responds in this calm like what did you do for context renera was getting ready to fly her dragon out to go do uh some battle okay ships okay and shit like that and fight for her side right she was really uh heading out there half cocked feeling really you know bold and brazen and that's my issue with you right so allison's ass comes back over to you know to your little home your little palace your little castle all right and it's like look i'm tired of all this dead shit they killing babies and whatnot i'm over it so listen you come over i'll make sure they open the gates for you you can go kill my son if you want to i'll just let me and my daughter and my grandbaby go i'm over it just like oh my god let that be that let's just no more bloodshed go i'm opening the door you can kill him take your throne i'm out a deal i didn't believe the deal is crazy jace did not believe the bitch so you getting out thinking like you're miss bag not listening to your son's advice which is mostly very sensible are you getting ready to go fly this dragon out and get yourself killed he had the sense to be like look lock this bitch up don't let her come out because she is tripping and she's the prize he's trying to get her the throne what the fuck she want to go out there and get killed for i will ride my known dragon out there and go deal with this and i'm taking my black cousin with the white dreads with me so they go out there to do it i don't even have no notes for jace i knew he was gonna die bitch i think you knew you were gonna die you said it was better me uh than my mama the queen to be and you took that one on the chin right so all this hooting and hollering for me at first you have to check yourself you would have been listening to him and a couple of your other advisors you would have been sitting in your white ass down somewhere and knowing that you need time it's not all about you bitch you got 1800 dragons right now isn't game of thrones this is not mystical is it bitches no dragons exist and you have them let somebody else deal with this because as jace was right just harris was right if you would have flew your dragon out there you would have got your ass beat because guess what here come reina or as they're calling her on threads felicia targaryen because she looked a man oh my god all right flying sheep stealer the dragon out because she's feeling her beat felicia you're next um again i just really have to say emma darcy's acting in that scene where she sees her son's body is a step if y'all don't watch the show at least just go look up this scene because i don't think that i have seen grief portrayed on camera that's made me uh emotional and and felt so real in a long time probably when tony collette probably tony collette and hereditary so there's just this she goes back and forth between grieving her son being dead and and another son and that's so beautiful and believable but then she's also like pissed at him because like how do you feel about him and how do you feel about him and how do you feel about him and how do you you lock me up and then go out there to get yourself killed how could you do this to me chef's kiss don't even play in their face like give big emmy the awards thanks felicia targaryen so first of all you're not even supposed to be out here okay it's lucky that you're even still alive it's lucky that you're getting to do what you want to do so you find this wild dragon you're feeling your beat because the bitch lets you ride him right personally i think sheep stealer is adorable underbite and everything but obviously ashy right but the bitch is like okay you got the white hair you got the targaryen blood i guess we could be cool or whatever because that's the dragon thing to do let the bitch fly on you brought some sheep over to you you know roasted them so that you could actually eat because your ass was homeless and hungry and then all of a sudden you think that you're xena did you think that you were gabrielle like now you're you see smoke and and fire in the distance you're like oh i too have dragon and i will join in you don't know the dragon is dragon barely know you and just because the bitch brought you some chipotle does not mean that you're a big bad fighting bitch now so now your cousin did and again raniera it would have been you if you'd have left and jason uh have them lock your ass at home because sheep stealer came in and said i don't care who's fighting who i'm killing everybody so man woman child boat dragon i'm fighting you fucking you up so the fact that you would do that get your cousin killed probably a whole bunch of other people on your your family side killed as well and then go back to These white people like, I need asylum just for that white woman to cuss you out correctly in your face, bitch. What were you thinking and who is going to retwist your dreads? Who? Is Sheepstealer going to retwist them? Is he going to condition and then heat it with his dragon breath? Are you? Moving on. You know what? Well, let's just get into Allison. Big Allie, I don't want to hear no complaining. First of all, I'm glad that Rhaenyra chopped off your dead daddy's head, bitch. Fuck Otto Hightower and everybody that knew him. Everyone that loved him, I guess, and Rhaenyra knew him too. But you know what I'm saying. Fuck him. All this shit is his fault in the first fucking place. I was glad. Otto, this is your read too. Posthumous bitch. I'm glad. When I saw them bring your motherfucking handcuffed ass out, I was saying, I know what time it is and I can't fucking wait. And you're lucky. You're lucky. Rhaenyra still has some heart that she didn't even want to behead your ass. But her uncle, baby daddy, husband man was like, well, no, you have to kill this bitch. Either you're going to do it or somebody's going to do it for you. But it needs to be you because these hoes need to know you're not playing. And as much as I hate your uncle, daddy, uncle, baby daddy, husband, he was kind of correct. But Otto, good. Good for you, bitch. How motherfucking dear you are. I don't care if it's two seasons later, bitch. Three seasons. Bitch, we'll never forget the fact that you are the reason for the usurping of this throne. Usurped them. Usurpment. Because you played in everybody's face and then went and tried to do all this backwards ass politics to steal this girl's rightful throne. The throne in which she was the heir. So that your fucking, your family and bloodline could get some political power and stuff like that. Rhaenyra's dead ass daddy is basically Trump. Oh. And you everybody that loves him. Oh, damn. Just with your hand out. And now look at you. Your head out. And I love that she missed at first. I love that she swung that sword down with her eyes shut. Truly. In sadness. How has it come to this place? I said there would be no more bloodshed. And she swung that sword down and hit like, like the nape of your neck or something. She thought she was on a tag on Titan. That bitch missed and had to start over. Good for you, bitch. And then they bring in Alison. So let's, let's address you, Miss Green. Alison, the one who went over to Rhaenyra and was like, look, I'll open a case for you. You can go kill Aegon. Just let me and my daughter and my grandbaby leave. Deal. Before you open the gates and left, you knew that Aegon wasn't there, bitch. You knew that he left. You went into the fucking, into the throne room or whatever and you saw Aemond. And you knew that Aegon left. And you opened the gates anyway and tried to dip. Like you didn't know that old girl was coming here for that nigga's head. So, tough. Now, first of all, how did you not have an escape plan? How did they catch you and bring you back? Now it's super up for you. And you have to see your dead daddy's head in front of you and know that your ex-best friend is the one that chopped him. I don't feel bad for you, bitch, because you also took this girl's throne. You knew it was her throne and you tried to play the political games as well. You'll never be Cersei Lannister. That bitch is truly evil. You're on the fence. And so now your daddy dead and you had to see it. I don't feel bad for you, girl. Because again, you were half-assed about the motherfucking. You tried to play and hit the streets when you weren't really holding up your end of the bargain. So I don't feel like Rhaenyra really had to hold up her end of the bargain and not shedding more blood. I'm glad your daddy's dead, bitch. And your son is incestuous, kissing you in the mouth so that he would follow orders. Yuck. The Targaryen incest continues, making out with your mother. What is this? Oedipus? Oedipist? And Aemon, you got fucked up. And I know. I know that you're coming back because you're a fierce villain. But more clearly, because that one witch lady, Alice, Arliss, whatever her name is. Your uncle? Whatever. Daemon played in her. In her face. She's pissed. And so now she's going to use her witch powers or whatever to revive you and then probably fuck you and have your baby. Because Daemon's dumbass. You come up. You're next. Daemon, step up to the front. Why would you tell this Harrenhal witch lady that you're not going to give her nothing when she asked to have Harrenhal? This lady kept you, advised you, inspired you, did all of the things for you. And all she said is, when you get home, tell your niece. Tell your niece, baby mama wife, that I want Harrenhal. I think I deserve it. And you're going to tell this bitch to her face, well, you're not of a noble family. You don't have a husband worth shit. So that's never going to happen. But she might give you some jewelry. Oh, so what? You thought she was going to fly out of here on your dragon and tell me to wait on my Van Cleef bracelet? No. No. Why wouldn't you just tell the bitch I'll work on it? Right. You're a liar. Lie. So now she's going to resurrect this bitch and the bloodshed will continue anew. You're a dumbass. Amon's a dumbass. Alicent, tough. They probably going to lock you up, lock up your special daughter and your one grandbaby that's left. You're stupid. I don't know why you didn't hit the, ooh, girl, viciously killed the other one. It's been a mess. How many episodes of this show have I missed? I thought it just came on. This is season two. No, but didn't the new season just start? Yeah, it's episode two. I'm work, okay? Girl, they are wasting no time, bitch. I'm like, nigga, what? Okay. Girl, now. Knowing the bitch, I don't know how you're going to respond to this. I'm pretty sure. Anyways, I don't believe she ever saw her dad. Dad's body in the books. So I'm interested to see how she's going to respond to this. Bitch, you better not be tough. I mean, you better not be tight. Oh, well. He's dead. It's all his fault in the first place. He got what he deserved. Oh, and if you wanted him to live so bad, you should have put him in the deal. Hey, let me, my daughter, grandbaby, and my daddy escape. You clearly didn't care that bad. Because you attempted to hit the dust poorly and left his ass there to die. So I don't want to hear no crying, no catter. Walling and no complaining, bitch. No catter. Now, judging by the teaser for the next episode, it seems like you're going to be kicking it with the homegirl again and being like, hey, girl, you're losing your mind and you're doing too much. And I hope that's what it is, because if you start whining about that beheading. I'm on your ass, bitch. Now, great episode. Lots of characters. I'm sure I forgot to read. Many people. And that's fine. I'll do it later. But what I will say is that it was lovely to see Black people, specifically with dreads, and dreads that look real, flying on dragons and saying Dracarys and breathing fire. Because Corlys has a son that has, like, Black dreads that look like a normal Black person's hair. So seeing him flying around on a dragon was like, oh, cool, we made it here. And it doesn't feel super tokenism. Got you. Hmm. So that was nice. Black people riding dragons being cool. Emma. The doll Darcy. I mean, I'm talking about master class. I was like, does she know this boy? Does she? Is he dead for real? She. This lady is distraught. Like, she's inconsolable. Hmm. Great episode. Loved it. Smooch, smooch, smooch. No, no. I mean, there were some plot holes and things like that. Not a big deal. Loved it. Entertained. Loved it so much, I started watching A Night of Seven Kingdoms. Barely made it through the first episode. It was a little too jackass for me. Oh, wow. Okay. Yeah, but. Uh-oh. And then I just started watching Game of Thrones from the beginning again. Yeah. That show is such a ride. From the first fucking episode, boy. It is wild. I'm on episode three of that now, and I was like, damn, I forgot about all you dead niggas. So many people die. So many people die. My God. All right, HBO. Okay, yeah. That's it. I don't even want to tap into this third season. Like, what am I missing? Shit. This season's been tea. The girls are like. - You're losing it, okay. - I liked season two, I didn't realize there was this big or it seems like a common sentiment that season two was boring but y'all they're living for these two episodes of season three so far so yeah if you're a House of Dragon fan well I guess I spoiled all that for you or you just motivated people to be like let me put this on my watch list cause you are passionate about it and there's a lot I did mention I didn't talk about the Ballad of the Gullet really at all I didn't talk about one or two people who died yeah there's still plenty to see there got you check it out if nothing else it is that scene with Emma I mean with Rhaenyra seeing Jiserys' body I was already like how's she gonna respond to this I know she's gonna be upset cause like this is what the third her second or third kid that's died it was perfect it was perfect ugh big acting that had to be one of those scenes where people behind the camera are crying ooh or off camera yeah it was it was intense like the crew yeah damn okay I thought it was great alright now I wanna see it okay alright guys that is going to wrap up this week's episode of The Read check us out on social media at thisistheread I am back to answering more of your live calls this week on Crystal's Couch my advice show you can check that out at Crystal's Couch I always that's always a ride having live chats with you guys and I just wanna say me and some of my friends from Oklahoma were in Chicago this past weekend and we had such a great time thank you to the people of Chicago for being so sweet and generous and warm and welcoming you know we say it all the time Chicago Detroit them very black northern cities they just feel so much like home so much solid they really do we went to a Chicago Sky game which I mean they were playing the Aces so you know but it did make I really value Barclays I was like wow I'm not gonna take the energy of Barclays for granted no more because the girls anyway the fans were great the mascots great and it just we just had a great time there's lots of great black owned stuff there and all that so and how can I forget we went to the Obama Presidential Center that was like the main thing we went to go see incredible the whole grounds is amazing most of it's free the museum isn't and I think those tickets are sold out probably for the rest of the year but when I tell you that museum is unbelievable they have like a replica of the Oval Office where you can go in there and take pictures behind the desk and there's just a lot there's a lot in there it's beautifully designed and they have a list of like their big donors right when you first walk in and there's somebody on the 50 million dollar list who's anonymous and I'm pretty sure that's Beyonce I just feel like that's Beyonce or blue I knew you were going to say that it might have been blue it might have been blue but I feel like it's one of them it's one of them Carter girls but yes I I'm Aaliyah at this point it I just always have such a good time in Chicago and again we stumbled onto a black gay party I don't know how but kismet you know some things are just meant to be but yes had a great time and just wanted to say a quick thank you to the city of Chicago for that any news or updates from you this week I did not realize Flo J.
