The Snack: Blue Tsunami, Costume Controversy, and Love is Blind Meltdown

The episode blends political energy with personal and cultural commentary, centering on the emotional intensity of election day and the growing civic engagement of voters, especially in major cities like New York and LA. The host recounts how her own voting experience has become more emotional over the past few years, reflecting widespread feelings of urgency and connection to the democratic process. This is juxtaposed with a deep dive into Halloween costume controversies, where the hosts critique outfits from figures like Paris Hilton and Martha Stewart, highlighting issues of cultural sensitivity and online outrage. The show also explores the public fallout between Amanda and West over their departure from *In the City*, detailing how social media has amplified personal conflicts and accusations. Meanwhile, a nuanced discussion of Kristen and Dax’s relationship reveals concerns about how public clips can misrepresent intimacy and lead to misjudgments. The hosts promote several brands—Fi for pet safety, Anthropologie for unique holiday gifts, Rocket Money for financial management, and ZBiotics for post-holiday wellness—as practical, lifestyle-aligned products. The episode ends with a celebration of upcoming events, including the Wags and Walks gala and a final tour stop in Vegas, while reinforcing a broader message about accountability in reality television, particularly regarding trauma and emotional safety. The tone balances humor, critique, and genuine concern, reflecting both personal journeys and wider societal trends.

This week on The Snack, costume controversy, midterm elections, and Summer House gossip is back. Thank God. This is a Dear Media production. Enjoy! What were we going to talk about? I feel like this show is running out of steam without Amanda and West. I'd like to thank Amanda and West for keeping us employed. We almost had to quit The Snack. I don't know. What a summer and a spring we had. It's just been, there's nothing going on. Nothing going on in the world. No, it is election day and the vibes are so high. I feel high. Like, Raina, I woke up this morning, first thing I saw, Abdul Al-Sayed's hype video. I was about to run through a wall. Like, I just saw so much content. I was messaging with Ray Padilla. He was like, I can't like stuff fast enough. And like another friend was like, I don't know how we're supposed to work today. I'm like, this needs to be a national holiday. Like, there is so much at stake. And I just feel so good. And I'm like, I don't even know how we're supposed to work today. So what is happening in New York right now is so crazy because we had a Saturday night Halloween party into Sunday marathon. I don't know if you know this, but this will only happen seven times over a course of 50 years that you get Saturday night Halloween parade, Sunday morning marathon right into the midterm elections. And I don't, okay. I'm curious if like other people feel like this. And I feel like it's probably a common feeling, but like, do you cry every time you vote? Because I get like really choked. Choked up walking into the polling places and seeing all these people there that have like volunteered their time that have showed up to work there. And every person in that room either fucking put us in this position or is going to help us get out of it. And I feel like very emotional every time I go. Yes. But only in the last six to eight years, like I didn't used to fucking cry when I voted. I mean, I was happy to vote for Barack Obama twice, but it's just changed. Like I was thinking about this, like things make us so much more. Emotional, the highs are so high, the lows are so low. Like what we've been through. And then you enter that room and you're like, probably most of the people in here, if you're voting in a midterm election in New York and LA, feel the same way. And it got to feel even better if you feel like you're around like-minded people in a red state, you know? And so it is an emotional experience. All these people are volunteering their time. They're always so nice. Every time I got changed my address, they got to do it for me. Like I'm never not moving. And so I just always have such a. Positive experience. And so as we record, we're recording on election day in the thick of it. I went yesterday and I was melting down. My computer crashed in the morning and I was like, I need a hit. I need to vote today. I went over to my old neighborhood. I love that voting place. And I just felt so good afterwards. And there were 62 things on the ballot. So you posted this morning, your little story takes five minutes to vote. Not in Santa Monica, bitch. I'm trying to encourage other people to vote. Okay. You can't tell people this, you know, I'm telling them. Now I was never going to say this while I was not going to tell people all I'm encouraging them to vote that there were 62 things on the fucking ballot. So I had like notes, like, I want to take it seriously. And a lot of it's like, yes, no. And all these propositions, but there's so much on it. And I did so much research. Like this is a privilege and I want to exercise it in the right way. Of course. I mean, you, it's funny. You said that like past eight years ago, you don't remember crying. I don't remember a time past eight years ago of like what I don't remember when like this orange man, wasn't just like crushing my soul on a daily basis. Yeah. I don't remember a time. I cried after an election or cried to vote. Low key. I, I can't, I can't quite remember if I voted in 2012. I think I was busy. I was going to ask you if you even voted. No, I cannot remember. There was one year, obviously I voted for Barack Obama in oh eight. I was so excited to do it. And I think, I think in 2012, I was like, he's got it, but I really am not sure. Yeah. I remember being really busy. I was just like a dumb, what, 28, 29 year old. Like, I don't know. I was like, he's, who's, how's he not going to win again? Please. Mitt Romney's going to come in here. New York is comforting. No. Like whether I go over there or not, it's going to be the same outcome. But like, I feel like I want to stand outside of voting places and be like, good game, good game, good game, good game. Like, it's just, it's a nice feeling. There should be like a little like bar afterwards. You know what I'm picturing? Like when you land in Mexico and then there's. There's always like margarita, little bars. Everyone's got a Corona margarita in hand. Like that's what we need. We need the Cancun airport vibes, the Cabo airport vibes outside of these polling places. Hell yeah. You can't do that in America, right? You can't just like stand outside of an airport with a tray of alcohol. An airport? Wouldn't it be nice if you could do it here? I don't know. Maybe we could start this. Okay. You know where I think it should be legal is in Vegas where Ashley and I will be next Thursday night. Last stop of my tour. Ashley and I will be in Detroit Wednesday night, Vegas Thursday. That is it. End of the tour. What are you looking at me like that? No, I cannot believe we get to go to Michigan after Abdul Alsan wins this race. Like we have a blue tsunami. And so he, right. I'm so obsessed with him. I like Shashank will look over and he's like, what are you doing? You're scrolling Abdul again. Like I can't stop. Like we haven't seen Riz like this since Obama. I swear to God. And so I cannot believe we're going to go to Michigan, invite him to this show. I'm sure he'll show up. He's been doing so many podcasts. You should DM him. Okay. So you guys. Okay. Celebrate the win in Michigan with us next week on Wednesday, November 11th, 11, 11, a lucky day. And then come to the last, honestly, it's you tour stop me and Ashley. I'm ending it right with her in Vegas, bring the girls and everybody rain of greenberg.com. And then you never have to listen to me. Talk about this ever again. You guys aren't too lucky. You guys do not want to miss these two, especially Vegas, the end of the tour. All of our friends are going to be there. It's getting completely out of control and it's just going to be so, so fun. It's going to be just incredible. I truly cannot wait. I can't wait to see all you guys there. And I'm so excited to get back on stage. I don't know. I haven't done standup in quite a while. So thanks for letting me come work it out. We could just sit on the floor and talk. I'm just going to talk about Abdul. I'm just going to be out there. They're going to be like, get her off the stage. What is this? A rally? It's so Macklemore of me. We came to this place, not for politics. Then she actually, no, I'm going full Macklemore. Rain is like, I didn't expect you to do like we're aligned, but I didn't want it. Okay. So today as we record, it starts like a real whirlwind. So New York, I'll be in New York and we have our show for the New York comedy fest. We have recordings. We have all kinds of things. Then go to Detroit with you. Then go to Vegas, two days in Vegas, craziness, the whole thing. And then I come home Saturday and go straight to this gala Saturday night for wags and walks. Like I can't believe the amount of outfits, all the things I've had a plan for, but I did just want to tell you guys about it. Cause I always like to talk about my dog fostering journey on the snack. And this is the organization I've been fostering with wags and walks. Obviously they're based here in LA and they have a Nashville branch as well. And this is their biggest. They have the biggest fundraiser of the year that helps them do what they do. I was over at the center last week. Just what they're doing is just so incredible. They have this new facility with all this medical team in there. And so this is just going to be such a fabulous night. I don't think I'm allowed to say like all the celebs that are going to be there, but Raina, it's a kind of crazy, like one specific person that we've talked about a lot, like huge celebrity. I'm sure Jason Tardik will be there with his fiance and just a bunch of people. I'll be there of course. And there's like drinks, dancing, live auctions, island auction, the whole night. It's like their big gala. Dress up and you guys can come, wagsandwalks.org, Los Angeles events, click on that. And they have like tables, sponsorship. If you have a company you work for, you own, you want to do that too. Or you can just also buy tickets to the cocktail hour. So I'll be there. It's like a teal carpet, two hour cocktails. I'll be there. Kate Steinberg will be there. I got an address from Anthropologie, one of our partners today. And I'm just really excited. So check that out. That's in LA on Saturday, November 14th. I'm laughing because I may or may not be in LA next weekend with you. We're just like trying to work something out. So if we like book this thing, I'll be in LA with you. Yeah. Can you tell Shashank he can't come and that I'll be your date? 100%. Like Raina, you know, she's such a dog lover. Meanwhile, Shashank's been on this fostering journey. He's been fostering with you. Sorry. Raina's a bigger gift. Stay tuned. Yeah. So check that out. But yeah, let's talk about our partners. Okay. Speaking of Anthropologie, you guys can shop must have holiday gifts at Anthropologie.com slash all dash D. Gifts and Rocket Money. Reach your financial goals faster at RocketMoney.com slash GGE. And thank you to Fi. Get 30% off and free shipping on GPS and health trackers for dogs and cats at FiTracking.com with code GGE. And ZBiotics, get 15% off pre-alcohol at ZBiotics.com slash GGE with code GGE. Okay. So we are going to kick it off with a costume controversy report. Listen, Halloween, it was nearly a week ago, but this Halloween went kind of crazy. People missed the mark and there was a lot of backlash, but we're going to talk about some of the lower level ones. And then we're going to end with a grand finale. That's still hard for me to comprehend, but it's insane. Okay. So, I mean, it is always shocking when anybody has like, sort of like a questionable costume because you're like, there is information available about this, but okay. So yeah, we'll start. There's the new Mormon Wives show. One of the stars, McCall Daprin, she dressed her family as the JFK assassination. I feel. I feel like that's a clickbait headline. Like they didn't dress as the assassination. Like there wasn't a gunshot wound and there wasn't blood. Like I'll let you finish, but like, I feel like I have a problem with the headline and I don't even know who this woman is. So I'm not defending her. So she's on the new season of Mormon Wives, which we will be talking about next week on this show because they're a sponsor. She dressed as Jackie O in the assassination. So the pink pillbox hat. So it was a choice. I mean, and you didn't really need to drag your whole family. into this, like, what are you guys? We're the JFKs. see that's again this is where the internet like just runs wild with things they obviously dressed up like the kennedys this is jackie o's most famous look obviously for the cultural significance of it but like listen i don't know you guys can pop off in the comments you can disagree with me i think they were paying homage like it wasn't mocking and it wasn't like let's dress up as the family on assassination day like maybe they should have thought it through more but it feels like calling this an assassination costumes of stretch like this is the look you pictured jackie oh in but then the same note that that's why because that day i don't know like for me if you're like you're dressing up like jackie o i'm going that look that chanel boucle the hat i don't know that i'd recall the pink but like i would do that look they are paying homage to the kennedys but yeah tough decision there two of the kids are dressed as secret service and her husband is dressed as jfk holding a oh i didn't realize all that the kids are listening okay you know what they dressed as the assassination next okay so next paris hilton receives some backlash she dressed up as beauty and the beast with her kids she was bell her husband was the beast and her two kids people got upset because her daughter was the teacup you know what i i also am thinking this is a little bit of clickbait like were people really upset over this like so basically people say she stole the show from her daughter i don't know i don't know i don't know i don't know i'm sorry i'm the star what else are kids for besides being supporting actors on halloween like i'm still the main character like i paid for this if i did beauty and the beast yeah i'm bell shashanka is the beast and the kids are the candle and the clock or whatever the fuck like i guess the daughter wanted to be the teacup but the kids i guess it would be cute to have the daughter be the princess but that's not the vibes like just size wise the adults are the adults and the kids are the accessories also i think we're like defending the daughter's right to be the princess but like what if she really actually wanted to be the teacup she 100 that's what paris said she was like she wanted to be the teacup it doesn't even really matter like i'm the princess i'm gonna be a teacup let her be a clock or candlestick or let her be guest on who fucking cares no but dead ass like i'm gonna be lumiere i'm not i'm the bell paris hilton she's gonna be a clock i think it's cute a little teacup okay and yes size wise it does the most sense i'm not bothered by this okay and maybe she wanted to be a teacup leave them alone i love family costumes and i love couples costumes i love friend group costumes like i just love them more and more and we'll talk about what shashank and i dressed up as but it's just like i wouldn't think to not like i love family costumes more than anything like a lot of people were sending me this family that dressed up as bad bunny and all the grass and like well the little kid was a star so like one of the little kids was like bad buddy and like the parents were the grass whatever is fine but like i'm not mad at paris hilton for this she's a star hi gray what's paris gonna do paris is gonna be a clock get out of here exactly okay so lastly um martha stewart dressed up as a homeless person and it's still hard to i saw this come across my desk i follow martha stewart and martha stewart living i see this photo she has dirt on her face she has a sign in front of her indicating that she's homeless it's also an ad for her candles for qvc and so i am like surely this is ai this is not even like a good like fake like this is clearly ai no one would do this that's insane okay let me ask you is this a victimless crime because the people she's mocking are not gonna see it i'm kidding everyone relax this was totally insensitive and out of touch but martha stewart is openly out of touch this was a crazy decision it makes me wonder who's in her friend group who's on her team who allowed her to do this or do you just have to let martha cook she's 85 she apologized twice the second one with a notes app it was highlighted i don't know if it was supposed to be highlighted or not it was a mess she said it was to raise awareness of homelessness ma'am we don't believe we know there's hope what do you i don't even understand what that means raise awareness of the homeless that there are homeless people i think she was trying to like backtrack no i know but like did she think that people would believe that it's not like raising awareness of like cleft it's yeah this is everyone's number one question by the way she's 85 i'm not canceling her i just i wonder what's going on in her inner circle but like out of touch is a way that i would describe her always like it's just kind of who she is like this was insensitive and i don't like it but you know we got we got to move on i obviously wouldn't have done it i don't like it but yes everyone's number one question is how did this happen you know somebody put that costume together for her it was probably it was probably daisy from real housewives of new york went over there and smudged some dirt on her face somebody helped her with that costume somebody took the picture and like she has a team i do believe by the way that martha stewart is highly involved in her instagram i think she doesn't care her captions her captions would lead you to believe that she's doing the post she's writing them yeah and yes she's 85 i mean sometimes you just can't hold people that age to the same standards as society martha's an ex-con exactly just let her cook why didn't your house is an ex-con she's like i'm bringing awareness to the context she's like i don't have to dress as one i am one every single day of my life my costume is not your culture it was an ad my culture is not your costume sorry i can't believe this happened i can't believe it had you know i'm always so shook by things that i can't believe went through an approval process but this specifically is that you can't do this it's not what we're doing somebody took that photo and i would like to hear from that person 100 yeah where's the photo credit so us you guys may know if the podcast shashank and i were going to do dumb and dumber we're going to dress up as lloyd and harry and the day of halloween we see that amanda and west did it and they did this photo shoot and right i was speechless like what are the chances that we're going to do a couple's costume the same halloween that america's worst couple does it also and they did a photo shoot to boot people are doing photo shoots and fucking music videos kayla nicole travis kelsey's ex who i've met her she's really sweet did you see her beyonce oh unbelievable why you're talking you have to go watch it no you don't even know she does the crazy in love video then she does the partition video like it's that's cool real yeah of course like shashank and i did it better and like they didn't even do a real like there are so many iconic quotes from dumb and dumber there's so much audio we had trouble choosing what to even go with but we chose audio for our real tiktok that went with the actual costumes we were wearing which people do a variety of different things also we weren't the first people to come up with these we did it the same year as them we were like what the fuck but you know we did it better also but is this them like being trying to be funny and be self-aware like actually i never i can never tell what the two of them i could never tell if they like are trying to be in on the joke or not like she's not funny i'm sure there's she has good qualities i don't know her personally but she's not funny he's funny he's funny they are trying to be in on the joke but people don't like them that was the whole thing when they went shopping with the pregnancy thing and they got the pickles and the ice cream like they are trying to be in on it but no way they're trying to be in on the joke one likes them so it doesn't work so like dumb and dumber yeah what we did was dumb we're trying to be self-aware but people are like we don't like it i mean i think that there's like a lot of people online that are like it's time to leave these people alone and i agree that it's like time for all the hate to just dissipate it's over with but like yeah i think people needed like a break from them and the amount of like in your face that they have done it's just been off-putting i think people don't like it people don't like them and the whole dumb and dumber thing is them trying to like tongue-in-cheek be in on the joke and people are like we don't want you to be in on the joke so also dumb and dumber is one of my favorite movies of all time i could quote it top to bottom and their photo shoot was not really the vibe they're trying to do this like serious awkward family photo style that's not dumb and dumber dumb and dumber's like slapstick really silly really yeah out there like their photo shoot actually didn't match i love it like serious that awkward family photo vibe but that wasn't really what dumb and dumber is about so it's like they didn't even really nail the vibes on the photo shoot that's what i'm saying they misunderstood the assignment yes yes okay i just have to say one more thing heidi klum okay so heidi klum obviously queen of halloween and her costumes are the most unsexy yes but labor-intensive shocking and this year she was a severed hand i guess her own hand like i respect heidi's craft reina a severed body part a severed body part so i saw this video and this girl i know was interviewing her on the red carpet and she did great work and she did a great job and she did a great and i messaged her and was like i'm you know i i tagged her and i was like you're braver than me and then we messaged back and forth a little bit and she said she was interviewing her and the designer of the costume kept squirting blood into her mouth between interviews so she would be like gushing blood out of her own mouth like i like at what point is it too much like i think heidi klum would be a bloody tampon like i think she would be a puss filled pimple like if she is a butthole cyst i'm out it's too close to home for me my culture is not your costume my culture is not your costume a severed body part made it like a bloody hand like it was brilliant she's the fingers are her legs but i was like heidi this is disgusting it's hard to look at i thought that we couldn't get worse than the worm slash turd that she was last year and it's funny she is like funny tongue-in-cheek she's like i'm a super model i'm the greatest to ever do it i i will look as ugly as i want to like that's funny to me but like this was just it's not for me it's like it's that it's so gory but listen i still respect her and she's still the queen of halloween but I was like your own severed hand, ma'am. I don't know. She's setting the bar too disgusting. I don't know what she's going to do next year to like do this again. Well, anyway, happy Halloween next year. We do have more stuff about Amanda and Wes briefly, but we'll just thank our partners. Yeah. Okay. So I'm telling you guys about Fi. These are GPS and health trackers for your dogs and cats. If you are a dog and cat owner, there's no bigger nightmare than the panic of you could call your pet's name and they don't come back. You know what could happen. I can't imagine life without him. And so it just really gives us a peace of mind to know that he's always safe. We can always see where he is in real time and you can get alerts the second they leave the yard. So Azul's not a runner. You know, I'll be honest, like he's not someone that I really, really worry about this with, but cats, there's never not a cat in our yard, Reina. Ashley, I was over your house two times for five minutes, both times a cat. It's a cat. This is great. And again, especially if you do have a dog or a cat that you're worried about, this is going to give you that peace of mind relief and you'll feel more connected to them. And again, these are just trackers that go on their collars, if that wasn't clear enough, but super easy to put on them and they're affordable for what you get. They're incredible. Okay. And we are through Halloween. We're into holiday season. So that is gifting season. And Anthropologie is the holiday destination for must-have gifts, both online and in stores. Anthropologie has the gifts they'll really want to unwrap, gifts that check every box and think outside of it too, and gifts for everyone. Even yourself. So I've been on Anthropologie's site so much recently. And I mean, I've always loved their clothing, but their home goods and their jewelry is so fantastic. And the price is great. So it always looks like something that you put thought and effort into and it's creative. And let me tell you about the home stuff. So a candle warmer, they have coffee syrup and coffee mugs. I mean, Ashley's like such a coffee person. And so like, it's like coffee stuff for her is like a perfect gift. Glassware. They have this like watercolor workbook, which I think is like really fun. Just give somebody an activity to do. And I've just been really liking their jewelry. And if you guys are going to holiday parties in general, there's great stuff that they have that's like sequins. They have this Tilda sequins slip maxi skirt that I love. You can throw it on with a sweater or a tank or a body suit. And it's just going to like dress you perfectly for the holiday season and get gifts that not everybody has that are outside of the box for kids, for your partners, for your parents, whoever you're shopping for. So check it out. There is just so much. You can shop the must-have gifts at Anthropologie. That's Anthropologie.com. The dress I got is Dress the Population. I love that brand. Perla strapless midi dress. If you guys want to check it out. But you can also see when I wear it to the Wags and Walks gala. I'm like very excited. It's like strapless. It's got like a deep V kind of just it's different. Like I was like, I want something I just haven't ever seen, you know? Oh, yeah. No, you're going to look great. I can't wait to see it. OK, so actually, Kyle West, Amanda from Summer House, back in the news outside of Halloween, the cast of season two for In the City. Has been announced. They have a bunch of new people. And it was announced that Amanda would not return. And this sort of set off this chain reaction of the three of them fighting with each other and kind of putting each other on blast in the comments. So Kyle is first to comment on West's Instagram. And he basically says something about him being a cokehead. Cokeheads. Yeah. I mean, it's kind of crazy to say that stuff. I'm always surprised when it's giving that moment on Selling Sun to Wooden Crochelle. What did she say? She called her called. What's her name? I forget. She said crackhead on that one or something. It's always surprising when people bring in like crack, coke, alcoholic, you know, they make those accusations. Also, you better be damn sure no one's ever seen you use that drug if you're going to be chucking those accusations at somebody else. I don't know. I can call somebody cokehead. I've done coke. I don't count on a cokehead. We're not online trolling people for using it. It's like, Raina, if you called someone a crackhead and then they were like, yeah, but Raina, you've done crack and you'd be like, so what? I'm not a crackhead. I wasn't a crackhead. Right. I've done it twice. Great point. Great point. I don't know. I don't know about Kyle's drug use, but, you know, then people start commenting back and forth and West makes a comment and basically says, I wouldn't call my girl a dumbass bitch in the middle of a fight. Oh, I didn't see all this. I didn't see it escalate. So it escalates to that. And then at the same time, there is a user that, leaves a comment, basically just, you know, a thread, a tweet and says something along the line that like Kyle doesn't like that Amanda isn't on season two of In the City because he can't control her anymore. And Amanda reposts this with a bullseye sign. Oh, oh my God. I'm sorry. But like people being messy in the comments and in social media is my favorite way to get gossip. It is such a rush. Like it could be me, but never stop. No. Also, I'm so sorry. I didn't read you the exact coke headline. Okay. He said you're the coke head that blew up my ex's life and career. Yes. Okay. Mic drop, I guess. You just don't see people that this messy publicly just, I mean, it couldn't be you me. Thank God for other people acting like this to say it all the time. What would entertain me? Yes. Speaking of Chris shell, she's been someone that's always done that. And what last week talking about the Tom Brady love triangle, the comments, like I'm not friends with backstabbers, crazy work to drop these in the comments, but I like it. Yeah. Like those are just a few examples, but I don't know. Sometimes I also feel like it's, we had said this with Alex Cooper and Alex Earl, where like, she didn't need to go on and do this whole dedicated Tik TOK. Like she could have just kind of said her piece in a comment. Like it sometimes is a really kind of like a flippant, like, don't give a fuck way to get your point across. Yeah. I mean, I think it's an interesting strategy. You see people, you see the Mormon wives do this a lot. And do you see some summer house people do where they just, they sprinkle a little kerosene on the fire in the off season. And it was interesting. It was interesting. Cause after Kyle posted that on West's Instagram and all this transpired, then he posted a black background, white writing Instagram story that basically said like, I don't want to add to the discourse online. I full support of Amanda. It's like, which one is it? You're such a little flip flopper. Yeah. Right. Little hypocritical there. I do appreciate it though. Like you film summer house like nine weeks in the summer, but like I do need something in the off season. So I do appreciate you just continuing to do that. Continuing to stoke this a little bit. And it's not anything horrible. That's going to ruin anybody's life. Right. In the meantime. Okay. And there was another thing too. That's just more Ashley's friend tea, but someone, I guess Amanda had posted the dogs. Yeah. And then someone wrote, please let Kyle keep the pups. The one looks so skinny. And Amanda wrote back. He actually doesn't want them. Yeah. So I'm like, what's going on there? Like who's to say, but this all happened like the same day. It was just a little bit. There's a lot going on. I'm certainly not a Kyle apologist. And I think we should not forget the way he treated her for many years on television. But I don't know. Maybe he's just like, I'm in my DJ era and I can't care for an animal right now. Not like I don't want animals, but like it's hard. I think you should keep them together. I think they're a bonded pair and you know how I feel. I don't really think you should share custody of your pets with an ex. You can, but I think it's a mess and it ties you to them. And I don't think you should share custody of your pets with an ex. Like the dogs, their dogs, their animals, they would rather be with each other than be split up. And if they have a safe, healthy home, they don't care. Like that's not how dogs think. Like if they just go with one parent and they stay together, they're not like, I miss my dad. So who knows what the real story is, but that could just be part of it. But again, who's to say, I don't know. They really unleashed the messiness. And I do think she was waiting for like the final decision to come through about whether or not she was going to be on season two of this in the city or not, because like you have seen her and Wes just go full steam. Ahead, posting each other, commenting, saying stuff publicly. And it didn't happen until after it was confirmed that neither of them would be on the show this season. And she basically said the online hate was a huge contributor to this and not wanting to really deal with that. And I support that. And I agree. And I think there are some people that should have stepped away from reality TV sooner for their mental health. So I think it's the right decision. And now they're free to fight on the internet, which I'd love to see. I can't believe Amanda and Wes are still together. Actually, every day I think about it. Every day. Like the couple's costume. I feel like my first thought was I can't believe they're still together. Like I'm just like, this is still, this, this was real. Yeah. Every day. I can't believe they're together. And I was like, they'll, they'll ride this out for a couple months and then let everybody have their, I told you so moment. But they are like every wedding posting together, collaborating posts, full steam ahead. Them against the world. Truly. I don't know how they're going to make an income. So, I mean, they are going to have to try to be influencers. Yeah. Speaking of another controversial couple, Chris, Kristen and Dax are back in the news. Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard. So I just want to say, you know, whenever we talk about. them, which by the way, we've defended them before, but we've criticized them. And you know, these clips surface and I'll see comments that are like, you guys don't know. You don't listen to his podcast. You know, like there's people that have spent so much more time observing him and observing them. And they push back on people who just see clips and make assumptions about their relationship. This couple specifically, so many clips get put out there and I know things can be taken out of context. So it's not fair to judge someone's relationship based on a clips when there's thousands and thousands of hours of the podcast and them together and whatever it may be. I still feel like I've seen and heard enough in more than just clips to find their relationship unsettling. Like that's all I'll say. If they're happy, I'm happy for them. But I do just want to say that, like, I just want to acknowledge that sometimes people make assumptions based on these clips and you never really know the rest of the conversation. But like, I think at the end of the day, I still stand with Cher, who was just like, I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't you see something in him. I don't. And I think that Cher knows them and I stand with Cher. But like, I also want to try to carefully when it comes to dissecting a clip about a couple. They're an interesting couple to me. I don't know if you know this. You probably know this. They've been married 13 years. They've been together for 20 years. So that on its own, it's just like, it's working for them. So like, who's to judge what works for them? What is good for them? Yes, you see a lot of clips because he's a podcaster. He puts himself out there every single week, like you and I do. You can dissect you with stuff you and I say about our relationships. And in clip form, drag us for filth. They are just more so than your average couple. There are things that you're like, what? And I do when I see people judge them, I'm like, it works for her. And she's the only person that has to work for. So who cares? But they say things that are so nuts sometimes. And this. So I have to tell. So Ashley put on our outline for today. She she messaged me last night. She's like, I put Kristen and Dax on the outline. And this morning, I Googled Kristen and Dax. Four news stories came up. I was like, I don't even know which one she's talking about. I know. And it's so funny because I saw a tick tock or a thread or whatever it was. It was like it's that time of year again when Adam Brody is fighting for his life going on this press tour with Kristen Bell because they're talking about their marriages. So wildly different. Like they were on Drew Barrymore, like Kristen Bell says something and like Adam Brody's like, well, you know, like me and Leighton, like it's just very funny because they couldn't be more different. So basically they are on the armchair expert and Adam Brody and Justine Loop are on the show. So they're promoting nobody wants this. And obviously Kristen's there, too, with her husband. And she says that Dax will pick out something about a server, for example, like they have beautiful eyes or beautiful eyelashes and compliment them and essentially kind of flirt with them. And there's a few things that happen before she even says this, is that as she's speaking, he like makes this face like it looks threatening. It looks like what are you about to say? He. Sucks his lips in. People have dissected this, too. I make crazy faces, too, you know, like whatever. But like people are like it was a little unsettling the way he looked at her. She was about to go warning. Exactly. And then she says he does this thing where I know he's about to be the best boy. And that made me gag like the calling your husband best boy, infantilizing all of that. I'm just like, that's not it. But, you know, that's how I talk to her. That's fine. But anyway, she goes on to say that when he does this and he essentially flirts with the server, that he's flirting with her because he's making. The server feel good. That's how I know you're flirting with me a lot. Like if we go to a dinner or something like there's a couple of things Dax does where he doesn't have to look up and wink at me, but I know that he's just being the best boy. We'll be at dinner and like he'll say to the waiter, waitress, I'll go, wow, you have incredible eyelashes, gorgeous eyes. Great, great job. And then that's flirting with her. But that's flirting with me because because he just made something. And the whole room is like, what? What do you what? Like literally Adam Brody's face like it's crazy. And then Dax, his co-host is like, but he's flirting with her. And then they cut to Adam. They cut to Justine. Everyone's like, what is happening? And Kristen's like, no, he's flirting with me because he's making someone feel good. And everyone's just like, you're a captive. I mean, this sounded like when you just hear it. And watch the interview. This sounded like a lot of mental gymnastics to justify somebody's behavior. And maybe she misqualified it as flirting. Like kindness is attractive. Flirting is a very strange word for it. I think commenting on anybody's body, men that comment on women's bodies, I think is bizarre. I was a waitress for a super long time. I never wanted anybody to say anything about my body or the way that I dressed or how I looked. And he says, you know, I'm not commenting on their lips. I'm commenting on their eyes, their eyelashes. I hated it when men. Talk to me like that. You have beautiful eyes. Why are you talking about my body? I thought it was so uncomfortable. And I understand what she's saying. Like kindness to a service worker. It's really nice, but I wouldn't qualify it as flirting. And if it is flirting, I mean, I guess if it works for y'all and you're into some like light cuckolding, good for you guys. It's what keeps it alive for 20 years. It's not for me. Well, I love what you said about being the person on the receiving end. Like don't make strangers uncomfortable. Not just, max anybody. Like if a man is at a restaurant with his wife, by the way, and he is flirting with a server to a, just be a creep or B turn on his wife. I hate that complimenting someone is fine, but like you have beautiful eyes that is flirting territory or his wife's right there. Most women as the server are uncomfortable. So just like, don't do that. I don't like that to your point. Yes. Like kindness. Like, of course we all get turned on when you tip well, when you treat people well, of course, like we do. We like when our partner does that, we would never date somebody that treated the server badly. I will say the way she described it and defended it was weird. And I think that's what people didn't like, but it's not abnormal to be turned on by your partner flirting with somebody. Like, I feel like I have a little bit different take on this because of what we do for a living. Like people are in open relationships. People want to go to a bar and meet their partner there and pretend they don't know each other and watch them flirt with a stranger. You know, like people like this. If she would have said, I get turned on when they flirt with a stranger, I would have said, Dax flirts with other people and owned it in that way and use different language. I actually don't think it would have been a problem. I think some people still wouldn't have liked it. People don't understand that type of relationship. Like that, if that's your kink, I'm not shaming it. Like, I think she was trying to get there, but also what if she flirted with somebody? And I think that's what people are like, he's allowed to do this and you're probably not. And you have Stockholm syndrome and everything that people say about them. But like, just the fact that if you actually like that, your partner flirts with somebody in front of you, that's not abnormal. And that's not something, I would shame. I am with you. I think sometimes just the way that they speak, they're like Elizabeth Holmes. You haven't seen the movie yet. I could litigate like the verbiage. I know it's embarrassing for me. I haven't seen it yet. I don't even know like what there is to talk about anymore between us. My favorite tweet about all this is says, can Nathan Fielder do Dax and Kristen next? And it's one of the funniest things I've ever seen. No, he has to move in with them. I think this is the couple people would want to see. Like I always say Beyonce and Jay-Z like not real people, like that level of fame and wealth. Like I just kind of want to see how they live. Like I just want to be a fly on the wall, but this is my pick. This would be my pick. I was sitting here like trying to brainstorm, like who else would I want them to do? It is this couple. This is who you see the most. And I think that she just like the semantics of the word she uses. I think both things can turn you on your partner, being kind to people that other people sometimes aren't kind to, or that have a different station in life than you, or just service workers in general. It's really nice to watch your partner be kind to other people. And it turns a lot of people off. It's like, I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't of people on to know that other people desire their partner. But to complete the two was kind of weird. I know. And again, it was her delivery and then the reactions from everyone else in the room. But I feel like I'm reading these comments and there's nobody defending it. And I've read a lot and I'm just like, oh, I don't know. Part of me wishes someone would get in there. Maybe it should be me. And just be like, hey, some people like when their partner flirts with someone else. But again, not at the expense of making someone in the service industry feel uncomfortable. It gets tricky. You want to go to a bar and your husband wants to flirt with somebody and then she thinks she's being flirted with. He's just doing it to her and his wife. I don't like all of it. I don't love the collateral damage of couples that get off on this. But it's not weird. People like it. I would have to see it in person. It might be lighter than she's even describing it. Wagers might be like, I like the Dax Shepard and Kristen came in and they were a little silly with me. The server did a whole TikTok and said they were the nicest people. They remembered her name. It just, again, I wanted to talk about this from the relationship, turn on kink of it all, if that's kind of what they're into and the response. And just like, I don't know. They're an interesting couple. Well, I've never been married to anybody for 20 years. So who's to say? I liked that that waitress made that TikTok. I'd like to know that at least they're not making everybody feel totally uncomfortable. When I was a waitress, if a man that was 25 years older than me was sitting next to his wife commenting on how I looked, I wouldn't have liked it. It would have made me very uncomfortable. And it did happen to me a lot. And I didn't like it. Of course. Like, I just don't, I don't need any of it. Like, I don't know. You can comment on my nails, I guess, you know, like anything else feels like it's my body, my face. It's flirting. It came out, the weddings and not weddings happened this season. Last week, our episode did not age well. And it's funny that I had the audacity to say, unless you guys binge at all, Wednesday, night, like obviously you did. That's what I do. I don't know why I said that. Someone in the comments was like, quoted me. It was like, unless you binge at Wednesday night, that's this, that's what I'm doing right now. I'm like literally same. And your defense, it went so viral what happened last week. Some people may have waited a few days to watch it, but it was explosively viral what happened with Rob and Michaela. Yes, you couldn't miss it. So anyway, going forward, we are going to be more timely. We've worked something out with Netflix. So we are able to speak about it. But we spoke about Rob before his implosion. And that was totally insane. What we watched happened last week. So we will talk about the finale. We have watched it and we'll discuss it. But let's just catch up on Rob quickly because we didn't want to not address it. So, you know, Rob, the TLDR on Rob is, you know, he came on the show having, I guess, two of his friends had died recently. His dad died recently. He had lost his job. And this is a person who probably should not have been placed on reality television to begin with, who wouldn't have anger issues, trauma, you shouldn't be on TV. No, they need to not have these men on was after losing a parent. This happened with Shane. Remember, like, you can't have your dad die or anybody really that close to your immediate family, a parent die and go on a reality show a few months later, it shouldn't be allowed. I think all the time about producers on reality television and what duty of care they have to their contestants. And I feel like it puts women in dangerous situations to cast people that are rightfully traumatized by what they are going through and, you know, they let Rob leave with Michaela, even though he's having this kind of meltdown at this mixer and he's yelling at everybody. He's swearing. He's being aggressive with her. And just because you don't watch somebody put their hands on somebody doesn't mean that they are safe. And I don't know. I don't work in reality television, but I'm curious what you think in terms of like the duty of care to like allow somebody to walk out the door with somebody that's having a verbal meltdown. I don't know. First of all, also, Rob's not just like this because his dad died. I think that much is clear. I think he was probably like this before. He's a belligerent, drunk. Those are his longtime friends, which we'll talk about the friends. Like we can't just say that he went through some trauma in the few months before and this totally turned him into this monster or whatever. And I don't know what happened when they walked out. I don't know if they went with her. I don't know. Did she say, did they go back to the same place? She said that they went home and that they got into an argument. He packed his things and left essentially and left the show. Yeah. So I don't know, you know, if they cast him and he lost a family member, they're not going to uncast him if he says he can film. So it's just there's two things that can be I just, I see this correlation between him and Shane and you're watching somebody who has not processed the trauma, but he was clearly still this person before. And he was like a belligerent asshole at the bar, at the mixer, like red flag, like boy by, but the friend scene to me was more of the bombshell and really what people responded to when she meets this guy's friends. And this one friend named Jay was one of the worst people I've ever seen on this show, maybe on TV. And this is I am a hundred percent with you, by the way. And those experiences he's had did not make him into somebody who gaslights his partner, humiliates his partner, gets below drunk and the people that you surround yourself with. And I think the scene with that guy, with the friend, Jay was pretty triggering for all women who have sat there and been sexually harassed by a man. And I mean, he was saying things are about her only fans that they go golfing. They take their cocks out. It was so abhorrent that he sat there and let this happen. And every single man that has like that, there is a direct pipeline to when you start to defend yourself, you are a bitch, you are uptight. They start to verbally attack you and you need hopefully your partner in the room to stop that. And I am willing to believe that a lot of stuff is cut out of reality TV, but he got 15 shots in at her and no one seemed to defend this at all. And this poor girl is sitting there trying to like, act like she's cool. I am Michaela. We are all Michaela. We've all sat in those situations and thought, let me placate this person. Let me laugh. When I saw that that man had a wedding ring, that human piece of garbage, I couldn't fucking believe somebody married him. I'm like so mad thinking about it. I got to calm down. I was horrified by this scene. It was a horror movie and she handled it so well. She's such a queen. And I have been in situations, multiple ones where I've left. I had a situation happened a couple years ago. A friend's partner was antagonizing me. I would excuse myself, went to the bathroom, called an Uber, left. I had another situation years ago. I was out with Jenny and Karen and these guy friends. This guy wouldn't leave me alone. He's been so annoying. I left, but I have not been in a situation where it's your partner's friends. So she rolls up in this ready to meet these people. She's in love with this man. And his best friend starts quite literally sexually harassing you. Not only does Rob not tell him to stop or stick up for you, the friend gets cut off and Rob freaks out. I was like, what am I actually watching? And then he brings up a fight that they had to try to turn his friends against her. It got worse and worse and worse and worse. And I don't say like, I've left these situations. I've left these situations to say that I think she should have left. I've never been in that situation. You were sitting there hoping your partner is going to jump in at any point and defend you and tell this friend to shut the fuck up. Hey, ma'am, just relax. Like you don't need to get in a fight with your friend either. Hey man, just like, let's, let's just cool it. You know, maybe, you know, like no more drinks here. Instead he was like, keep letting him drink, keep letting him cook. It was so wild to me. And I just, anybody who's in that situation, I just want to empower you to leave. You can politely excuse yourself and you can fucking leave. You don't have to sit there and take it. And what I'm saying is, I'm not going to let you go. I'm not going to let you go. I'm not going to What she did though, was like, she handled it so well. People were saying she had her crisis PR voice on. I mean, I can't believe what she endured in that conversation to be spoken to like that by this man. Also, she is filming a show. So I don't know if she felt empowered to get up and leave, but yes, she was repeatedly sexually harassed by this person and tried to politely professionally placate this. And then on top of that, the partner brings up some fight that you guys had and humiliates you. And by the way, she should not be humiliated, but he was trying to humiliate her. By forcing her to apologize to him for something they'd already put to bed in front of a group of people she does not know. I mean, I really feel for any woman who has been in this situation, we've all been in these situations and you are like paralyzed by like, what do I do to stop this? And if I'm just nice long enough, will they stop? Yeah. Like we all have a fight, flight or freeze response. And sometimes I'm like, am I a freezer? Like, am I like, I will fight. I fought in the past. I have like fled, but I'm like, sometimes you are. I think we go back and forth between the three responses in those moments. And, you know, sometimes you just like beat yourself up later and you have no reason to ever feel bad when this stuff happens to you. But yeah, it was brutal. And I feel like the producers were like, what do we do here? You know, and a lot of people were like, I'm done watching the show. Cause like, why let this happen? And why air this? But it was crazy because it made every other guy look so much better. Like I was like, is John's okay. John's all right. I'm fine with John. And then at the King and Queen, they are just sitting there. and Raina I will say I don't think they're gonna date I think they're best friends like remember that guy the Rolex guy and he had the blonde and like they ended up being best friends yes like he was the exact same character like we thought he was so cocky so hateable his Rolex is this and that and they became friends like I'm just like how we we like these everybody looks good in comparison I think it strengthened all the couples for the night like they're like we're not as bad as them like I mean actually you took the words out of my mouth when I saw your Instagram story that said like not Rob making me think John's not that bad I I was like oh my god hashtag me too like how did I become a John apologist and okay the other thing that really shocked me from that that is not being talked about as much as Erica saying to Michaela imagine having to restart again I was a girl you met these people three weeks ago it was it was a tough watch I hated that I hate the sentiment for so many reasons because like your relationship is not working out either and that's just like not a thing you say to women at any age like because it's it's never too late and you know that and you met these people 10 days ago I mean Rob when Rob yelled that out and he was like we all met 10 days ago I was like he has a point I think it's a crazy thing to say to somebody imagine restarting imagine spending your life with somebody that talks to you like that I couldn't do it for one day I would I would imagine it I'm fantasizing about it but you're so right because restarting I started this 10 days ago like she said it as if they'd been together for years like and like like a lot sunk cost fallacy like you've been together for five years you know imagine restarting it's like I can't imagine it it was 10 days ago it's just I I mean like there's I've been doing everything in my life longer than this there's not one thing I've done juice cleanses longer than this restart it get out of here so okay the finale I want to say I think my predictions were spot on so I'm pretty sure I said that the only couple I thought would get married would be John and Sarah and I was just hoping it worked out with Rob and Michaela for her sake because we like her so much everyone else I had been screaming from the mountaintops for Wilson and Will and he to break up and Blake and Erica and they did like right out of the gate like two breakups back to back nobody cared Will and he was like bye that was the most I liked her actually I felt for her I really liked her I feel like we haven't seen much of her personality that much and like that breakup with Wilson I felt like she was such a queen and I was like yeah I'm out of here I think she was like I don't think you really like me and I think we've all experienced that feeling of like I'm fighting for something you don't even like me I don't like you I don't like me you know and I know that feeling and they needed to break up Erica and Blake I've never seen a person care less about a breakup than Blake Blake's just like yeah she cried she always cries they were like why do you think she's crying he's like I don't know man I don't know what to tell you but they were like both relieved you could feel it I felt the relief through this screen I mean Blake was never gonna marry anybody Blake was on this show between seasons for a home he just needed somewhere to go in the off season Blake realized last week that he was 37 like I love this tweet that was like a man that just realized he's about to be 40 in three years like did you see his face when she told him he did not know how old he was okay and and Neha and Cam man I want to talk to you about this I want to tread lightly with her as a woman she needs to grow up that was so weird I don't know why she went on this show it feels like she was trying to prove something to her parents like I don't know her motive I should try to do this baddie arc it didn't work it was very weird it was a tough watch he seems like a nice guy he's not marriage material now he's 28. I think that he'll be great in five to seven years I think he's a 28 year old and I just didn't understand what was happening I was like what are we watching like I think she will reflect and look back and I think they're both good people and in their 30s they will find the right people and they will be good partners but like her on this show was a tough one I mean I the first thing I wrote my notes was tough to me I still don't really understand the absence of empathy for another person sympathy I mean I wrote some things down she said he said I need some time to process everything she said what do you mean process what he said I'm upset she said about what he said I need some time she said but when will you know I mean it was very shocking to me and less that this was highly edited this conversation it was like watching two people very two different experiences he seemed to want to be like a little pensive about this and take a moment she was like what's the problem I don't understand are we still engaged we'll just live together it's fine I mean I don't know I don't know I don't know I mean she's laughing I didn't understand it I'm just I'm very confused by the reaction she seems very young to me I don't understand why she wanted to show at all she continued to say to him my parents will not accept me marrying a white person yeah that's not that's not gonna happen in my life so I she's not gonna give up her whole family for this guy the whole thing was just odd it felt like she went on the show to get back to her parents I think a child like it felt like a tantrum um okay John and Sarah I love Sarah I want her to be happy I want to protect her at all costs so if she is then I'm happy for that felt the most like a real wedding families were happy you know they love each other it's just it's crazy to be a liberal woman who works in health care and marry this guy and can I just have I have a thought right now I had this thought last night about people like John okay he's a Christian right so I'm assuming he believes in the Bible and then he questions science I just have had this thought of people like him like I think our health care system is too we need to be skeptical of all these types of things but like I think it's funny to believe in the Bible and question medicine I think that's an interesting choice of a person I think it's a direct pipeline I just had this thought last night I think that one equals the other okay anyway um I don't know I'm curious to see what happens we will get the reunion in advance and we'll talk about the reunion next week I think they're probably still together I think they're working this out you know what I will say I think she's getting through to him for sure I think he thinks she is very smart I think he really sees her for who she is I like the way he loves her I think her fear is that the mask will fall and he will stop trying to impress her and he will stop feeling that way about her but right now I do think he has her on a pedestal and that's all I need because I really think she's wonderful okay can I ask you a question is she liberal are we sure she said yeah yeah yeah oh yeah she was like big about like I want to talk about politics like yeah yeah it's pretty openly I got some tea ahead of time about the reunion so I think it's gonna be really explosive that she's not liberal no oh my God no no I don't know anything about her political beliefs I just know about their allegedly about their relationship so we'll see stay tuned next week we will get the screeners ahead of time I did pretty good on the wedding predictions because you know I bomb these sometimes and I'm dead wrong and I think I did pretty good I'm pretty good usually but I don't think I got these right I was positive they were gonna break up I just saw it they really love each other or they they did I don't know we'll see okay you guys let's go through some guidelines so Raina mentioned the marathon of course she was there on the scene and this was just such a wonderful beautiful thing uh my favorite thing I saw for the New York City Marathon was Mayor mom Donnie dressed in disguise as like a volunteer handing out waters can you even imagine yeah I was there it was the most beautiful day it was the most positivity it just was the highest vibes you know they stagger the race there's 60 000 people that run this is the biggest Marathon in the world I think they stagger the runners so you can always get right up to the marathon and everybody is there with like signs passing out waters to everybody and people wear their names really big and so everybody's just screaming names like yeah let's go people are dancing they're picking up babies and like I saw this video people picking up their children at the finish line and running to the finish line with their child I was gonna don't sobbing actually videos this video that this man like fell two men carried him over the finish line I can't stop and then the people that like stay till the end to cheer on the final finish like these people are finishing at night well I'm not okay it's an emotional day finishing running at night and people stay like New Yorkers stay till the end because everyone should get that experience I can't handle it there's wheelchairs there's people carrying each other I mean it was so beautiful I cried like five times Emily and I got went into Central Park on 79th Street exited at the bottom of the park on 59th and the boom of cheering could be heard we walked the whole like 20 blocks and cheered for people and it's just it's so nice to see so much positivity and support one of my best friends Jeremy ran the race he got sick he was like violently throwing up he found a way to like get back in the race finish it I just was like so proud of him and um it just was a really beautiful wonderful day and I'm excited to go again next year okay not run it I would never well another quick sports athletic headline is the Brewers won the World Series first time ever so we just wanted to acknowledge that you know we love we performed in Milwaukee we love our listeners there and so that was the first time they've ever been in the World Series and they swept the Dodgers in the playoffs and they won so you know congrats to them Ashley I thought your sports update was going to be Bill Belichick and Jordan okay no I want to spend a little more time on that you guys Bill and Jordan broke up and Rena you know I I want to say who could have seen this coming but like legitimately I thought they were end game I did not think they were gonna break up I just thought like if the two of you were gonna tolerate this what would end it like this wasn't on my radar I'm shocked I thought they were gonna be together till the end but apparently she's still his manager right she's still taking his money they have been seen um at events yes but yes they allegedly broke up like a year ago oh my God this is devastating and I can't believe we didn't know I feel like who reports on them as much as we do literally I mean she was willing to tolerate dating somebody that age and he was willing to tolerate somebody well every man that age wants to tolerate dating somebody that age I was just like what in the world could be the end of this nothing exactly so you know I hate to see it
