The Simplest $10K/Month Business Most People Miss ($0 to Start) - Ep. #327
from The Koerner Office - Business Ideas and Deep Dives with Chris Koerner

The speaker critiques the decline of American and British cities, attributing it to unchecked progressive policies, excessive regulation, and cultural shifts driven by political elites. Hollywood exemplifies this trend, where compromise and signaling dominate over real decision-making, and writers’ rooms are politically managed rather than creatively productive. Los Angeles and London have deteriorated due to overregulation, immigration, and a focus on safety and political correctness, leading to economic stagnation and social decay. Progressive policies—such as mandatory flags or drag queen story hours—are seen as performative and lacking in practical outcomes, serving instead as perpetual agitation without clear goals. The speaker contrasts "anywhere people" who move to avoid consequences with "somewhere people" who live in communities and feel the impact of policy. Women’s influence in governance amplifies safety regulations, which stifle building and economic growth. Cultural habits spread like invasive species—once introduced, they replicate in new areas, worsening urban conditions. He advocates for a return to practical, hands-on living as a way to restore sanity and resilience, and argues cities can recover only through rejecting ideological extremism and embracing local, grounded values. The ultimate warning is that cultural decay is cyclical: those who destroy their own cities simply move on, repeating the process elsewhere.
That's how Hollywood works, so you have people that are leftists, and then you have the quiet people.
People come up on the same panel and I agree with you, but don't, don't out me.
Have you had friends say that to you? I have people on sets do it.
In Hollywood, it's important business decisions to go liberal, because you will be blackballed,
and then you have all the other preening liars who are just signaling all the time.
The writer's room in a sitcom or a late-night show might have 15 people in it.
10 of them are worthless. It's all politics. You walk in with a mega hat.
You're not making it back into that room. Now, here's the other problem.
What has happened to California?
Los Angeles has essentially turned into Mexico.
Then there's London, which may have turned into some parts of the Middle East.
You're coming from a place that's a dump because you guys ruined it, and then they decide they should
move somewhere else that's more hospitable, and then they just bring their politics, and they just
begin the process of ruining that city. Is it a version of California that can come back?
Adam Crowder, welcome to the show.
Thanks for having me.
You've got all these interesting philosophies about the death of California,
and the death of our way of living, and I want to go through them.
Okay.
Is it why if I just name something and you can take me on what that means?
Sure. I mean, firstly, before I get into it, I'm actually going to ask you what has happened
to California? When California, it seems good. What's wrong?
It's got a lot of garbage in it. It's kind of dirty. There's a lot of graffiti and just garbage,
and that kind of thing, which were the golden state. It's kind of weird that we're sort of the
messy garbage day. Obviously, homeless people are sort of everywhere, and sort of general
living stuff. The schools used to be a lot better, and they rank a lot lower, and taxes have gone
up. It's basically taxes have gone up, and all the services have gone down. Essentially is
what happened to California. But I've been here my whole life, so I have something to compare it
to. A lot of people just show up and just think, "Well, this is how it is." Yeah.
And it's true, because it's the same way, if I showed up in your city, I'd just go,
"Well, this is just how it is, but I wouldn't know the old version of it, which was much better."
I think you'd still be shocked to see London. No, yeah. Yeah. I've been there quite a few times.
The best part, first off, forget about London. You've got to go to Chichester, you've got to go
to Goodwood Festival. Right. There I have been more than once. That's more countryside.
Yeah, that's in the country. That's nice. London's finished. Really? Yeah. I think so. When
you last in central London? I mean, it's been probably eight or ten years. Yeah, it's changed a lot
in that time. Really? Yeah. Because the immigration has been just through the roof since then,
and people mostly go to London, and then it's just totally changed. So it's kind of Muslim now?
It's very Muslim. It's kind of third-worldly. Some people are not Muslim still. Some. Yeah. But yeah,
yeah, I know. Well, this basically, so it's kind of interesting. So California, so Los Angeles,
where we are, has essentially turned into Mexico. Then there's London, which may have turned into
some parts of the Middle East or something like that. Then you sort of get into this culture thing,
like who were Mexicans versus Middle Eastern people and what do they do? Well, here what they do
is they set up and they sell stuff on the street. Basically, they sell food on the street,
but they also work all the construction jobs. So every single, every single construction job,
you will see will be manned by a Mexican. Right. That's what they do. But is that a problem? That's
the way, isn't it? No, I mean, I, you know, different cultures have different come with different
things. Japanese go to a soccer game and then they clean up after themselves. Is that a problem?
No, I don't think that's a problem. That's a cultural thing that we enjoy. And then there's other
cultures that, you know, want to marry 12-year-olds and are into honor killings. And then that is a
problem. So we have to kind of figure out. It's not like shun all new cultures. Tell me about
yourself. You know what I mean? Like, let's say you have a roommate. You go, I'm looking for a
roommate. Well, I don't do dishes and I do like to walk around in the nude.
Okay, that's your okay. I think what about you? I love cleaning everything up and I'm going
most of the time and I walk around and socks very quietly and go, okay, that's you. I would welcome
you. Yeah. So is one guy bad? Is the other guy bad? They're just different. Some cultures.
Let's not call them better than others. Let's just say like the roommate. I just prefer someone who
cleans their dishes and walks around in their socks and doesn't blare their stereo. Yeah. And there's
a lot of stereo blaring here. It is interesting. I mean, you do everything's in Spanish. I
feel like I've just arrived in a city that is basically a Spanish speaker. Now, I speak Spanish.
I'm pretty happy with that, right? But that's not really nice for what people who live here,
people from here. Well, I mean, I think we want to live in a world where there's Mexico. We want
to live in a world where there's London and there's a world where there's California and Hollywood and
LA and there's Switzerland and Germany and Japan. We want to live in that world and then you
want to visit those worlds. But I don't know where, if you want to live in a world where those
countries franchise and now London has essentially become Iran or Iraq or wherever in the Middle
East. And I don't know that Los Angeles has become Mexico. But I like Los Angeles to be Los
Angeles. And we used to go to Mexico all the time. So you was fun going to Mexico. But then you'd
come back to Los Angeles and it'd be Los Angeles. But that kind of talk, I don't know. I think it's
probably racist talk or something or at least I don't know if anyone thinks it's racist, but they
like to say it is to kind of shut you up. Yeah, it's an interesting thing. I was just in Japan and
they they know who they are. They don't really care. And they're by our standards incredibly
racist all the time. And they just don't give a shit. Yeah, well, I mean, hungry is hungry and
pollen is pollen Japan's Japan. I don't I don't think it's racist for them to want to maintain their
culture. I like that. And I think every culture should be happy to maintain their culture. And then
you can figure out what their culture is. And then you can decide whether to visit their culture
or not depending on what that what that conclusion is. So if you like sushi and sumo wrestling,
then you can go to Japan. And if you like beheadings and honor killings and you go to the Middle East.
Yeah, that's why I go so often to the Middle East. And the headings in Mexico as well. That's
the big thing as well apparent. I had this debate with Anne Colter because she was suggesting it was
worse to have lots of Mexican immigration than than Islamic immigration. No, I don't know.
First off, the Hispanic, the Mexican culture comes here to work. They work and they work
construction flat out. I mean, if you I'll put it to you this way, you can go to the palisades,
which just burned out. You can drive through the palisades and you can see 45 or 50 houses
in different stages of rebuilding. You could walk onto any job site. You are not going to find
anyone from the Middle East. You're not going to find any Japanese. You're not going to find any
Jews. You're not going to find any blacks. You will only find Mexicans. And probably like one
white dude who's running the crowd. Basically, it's one. There's like one white dude in 30 Mexicans
and that's who's building everything in this town. Now, I don't know what it's like in London,
but benefits for people. Well done. Right. So you go, I mean, I would tell Anne Colter,
you got one group that comes into Minnesota and collects benefits and or London and collects
benefits. And then you got another group that comes to California and LA and they strap on the
bags and they're on the job site. Yeah, right now. I think it's almost incomparable. I don't know
what she was trying to. What was she getting? I think it's like she likes to have a debate and an
other. I don't know. So one of these philosophies, progressives never pump the brakes. That's one
of them. Yes. What does that mean? They just move on to the next crazy thing. You know, they just
go, you know, we think Gaze should have the right to marry. And then you argue about it for a
while and then at some point you go, all right, let's let Gaze marry. And then they go, we also
want to make sure that there's representation. Like we need a gay person on each board of a
Fortune 500 company. Go, is that really make a big yes, that's okay. I argue about then they go,
we want to have gay pride parades and we want to fly. I'm going to fly the gay flag over City Hall
and then you go, I don't think we need to fly the kids. Oh, okay.
And they go we need drag queen story hour and you're like what is that we bring some he she that's morally obese
Who's tough to jump between his legs to read cat and a hat to four-year-olds and you go no
I don't want oh okay, so really what they want to do is agitate they don't really they don't have an end game
Mm-hmm. It just keeps going do you think they're aware of that in themselves? I
don't know they don't know they
They're they're really just kind of angry at their dad and it's if you ever meet a woman or any
But he's like really angry with their dad that just keep agitating, you know, they don't really
If you have a kid and that kid is a pain in the ass and wants to agitate
You realize that
when you they say they want something, you know, we want equality we want fairness
We want to be treated with you know, whatever and then you do it. They just go right to the next thing they're dissatisfied about so
If you just kind of break down the whole sort of game movement or black lives matters or whatever you just realized
They just want to agitate. They they have everything they need everything's
All there is no law that prevents them from doing anything
But they're still pissed off and they still want more and by the way what they do is
Of course drag queen story hour is only made to agitate. There's no advantage the kids don't need it
You don't need it. By the way if somebody said to me, hey Adam you have to spend half a day Saturday down at the library reading to kids
I'd be like
Well, fuck that. No, why would I want to ruin who the fuck wants to get dressed up?
For must take them two hours to get into that shit and then go stand at the library or go down to the school and
Whatever like of course, they're there to agitate. There's nothing needed to that for them
I think it's more though because I think it's hard for most people to get their heads into this
But I mean there is a bit of a fetish around it isn't it? Yeah, you'd have to have a fetish to wants to do that
Yes, you would like I
Get the part where you're attracted to your own sex or you're having some kind of gender dysphoria bullshit
Which is probably I don't way less than the amount of people, you know every third
Celebrities kid is transition. That's a no statistically impossible, but I kind of get that part
But the part where you just want to dress up like a woman and mints about in front of kids
Mm-hmm is a weird and be yeah, we're getting into a fetish here, and so
People would naturally push back against that which is what they want
So when you do push back then they make a big deal out of it, right? So you go
You know whatever coffee chain goes we're not flying the gay flag
We're not flying the Argentinian flag either we're not flying any flag
Just come in get your coffee and leave and then the gays go you're not flying the gay flag and they go no because we serve coffee
So it's got nothing to do with sucking off dudes. It's coffee and they go. Oh, yeah, well now you got a problem
Okay, why cuz they want to agitate their pains in the ass. They'll never be satisfied
How does that contribute to the death or the demise of a city or a country the gay flag the progressives never
You know, well, they're not because they're not really here to get anything done
They're here to argue about everything. So LA is run by a bunch of dumb shit checks who just argue about everything and nothing ever happens
So dumb shit checks that leads us to the next one, which is the
Philosophy of Gino Fascism. Yes, which sounds pretty mad. Yeah, what is that?
Well women are a lot different than men. Yeah
men are
biologically
into
things stuff
And women are into people and feelings and emotions
by
Biologically, which makes sense you can see it if you have kids and your wife
acts a certain way
And so guys are into like
Risk, you know guys are like let's get that kid that dirt bike and let's get him into moms like no
No, he's gonna hurt himself and then the dad's like he's got to learn to rhyme. He's got to learn to you know
You know, there's danger. There's whatever
if you get
Too many women in positions of power and something like COVID comes along
Well then the answer is shut the beaches shut the schools shut everything you stay at home
And if we catch you walk around without a mask, we're gonna
We're gonna rest you and so that's a feminine thought
My thought which is a masculine thought is I don't have any business telling you what to do
And if you want to endanger your own stuff go go do it
But by the way, I can't see why going to the beach would be dangerous
But also they house I have a
Sort of gene that if you defy them they get really
Nasty about it so you get really angry which is um in charge on the governor
I'm the mayor whatever I'm calling the shots and if you screw with me
I'm gonna mess you up and so there was a lot of that now
I've just realized that we went this year exactly one year from 36,000 to 72,000 followers on Spotify
So we've exactly doubled the number of followers and there are fifth or sixth year I think so
Suddenly we're kind of taking off and I owe a lot of
Gratitude I owe you gratitude just one say that I don't know but the gratitude is owed and I hope it is received by you
Please just hit that follow if you haven't already apparently it makes a huge difference
It's just a little click click the follow on heretics on Spotify and I'll see you next time
There's a balance and the balance is the same one you'd want at home
Which is just well
wife treats does certain things for the kids that are good and then I bring something else to the table
But in cities like LA the balance is way off and there's got way too many women making way too many decisions and their decisions are
safety and feelings kind of based and so we don't
Get stuff built, you know like I'll give you a I'll give you a good example of like kind of fact
Shism and chip think while we're at it, okay
The mayor of Oakland which Oakland California used to be a normal place and then it's just gone to shit
It's a mess. It's a hellhole now
In and out burger
They've only moved one location and their entire
Franchise history since 1948 and that's they moved out of Oakland
Because the crime was too much so at this this franchise that has been around for you know
75 years plus
Who does nothing but open franchises everywhere and everyone loves in an out burger
Literally had to leave Oakland and so did their baseball team and
They're losing sports franchises. It's it's a shit hole. Yeah
somebody
At the park put hoops up
rope hoops he hung them from the tree
To exercise with by hanging them and that and it was a black fella who exercise at the park
Somebody saw the hoops hanging from the tree and decided it may be a news
By the way to the left every circle that's closed is a potential news like a car tire could be a news
An oh could be a news
These lights could be potential news because there's a circle yeah a wedding ring
Could be a new yeah
That watch once you once you put the hashtag could be a news don't get fooled into everything everything if there's a rope
hanging from a garage door to pull the garage door down. It's got a hoop on the end of it
Potential news so somebody reports it
And then the black guy comes in who made the thing who uses them for exercise? Of course she had to then cut them down
He said I put him up and I use them to exercise and then
The the mayor of the city that's falling apart
Said I'm still gonna get the FBI to investigate as a hate crime
And somebody told her there's footage of it online with the somebody reporter said well
I think we have context now
So you got your answer. So why are you still moving forward with this as a hate crime?
And she said I don't care about context wow
Right that's chick think right there. Yes, and that's why Oakland's a dumb
It's so it's so interesting because like I grew up and you watch the comedians when you're a kid all the comedians
Men are like this and the women they do this thing and you sort of think well probably not really though
And you still think that I think when you're like 18 you still think no not really of course not everyone's the same all of blank slate
And I wonder if that's why people move away from progressivism is when they start to actually have real relationships
Because every woman I've ever dated is a bit more that way
They're all different of course, and I don't you know generalized, but they're really my wife's always like safety foot
It's always like she's we're driving at like 10 miles an hour and she's like stop stop. We're gonna die right safety
Uber Alice is what we do here in like California is the say you know everything so
Safety creates regulation and regulation stifles everything so the reason we get no building is we have so
many codes that no one can comply. So thus we have no building. And then the same politicians
go, what's going on? We need housing. So when we can't have housing because it costs
twice as much to build a house here because of all your regulation and all the regulation
is under the guise of safety. All all the regulatory stuff is all safety. So we get crushed
by COVID because of safety. None of it needed to happen. I mean Gavin Newsom shut down
the beaches. And then they arrested a guy who was in the bay alone paddle boarding because
there was a safety issue evidently. Now of course going to the beach was the best thing
you could do during COVID, vitamin D and sunshine and exercise and all that kind of stuff.
But safety is stifling. And the more women you have in charge, the more safety, the more
regulation and the more the economy sort of grinds to a halt because it's just it's too
much. Like for instance, people people don't really know this, but I you know, I used to
be a builder. So I understand all the codes and the safety and stuff like that. I wanted
to put solar in a house I built many years ago or refurbish many years ago. And we have
a rule in Los Angeles or California that there needs to be a master shut off switch for
the solar. They everywhere else they just put it on the panel. And if there's an issue
or fire or something, the fire department can come and sort of see the master shut off
and shut it off. In LA, we have a code. And the code is that master shut off switch needs
to be outside of the property. So meaning if you have a gate and a long driveway and the
electrical panels on the house, you can't just put it there. You need to run it all the
way outside the gate. And I was like, well, I got a long driveway and that's 200 feet
of trenching and running of conduit. And then putting, I think it's going to cost $50,000
to put it on the outside of the gate, you know. So then I'm like, well, fuck it. I'm not
doing solar. So they're right. I wanted solar. They want me to get solar. I want to give
money to the solar company. But I just scrapped the whole thing because they have a stupid
regulation that they don't do in any other municipality because it's unnecessary.
The kind of fascism thing is something I thought about as well. And there's also the kind
of misguided empathy as you get more women. Oh, yes. More, more immigrants come to the
country and bring these people in welfare refugees. That's right. Take care of the only thing
though that I tried to think that through. And then I thought, well, hang on, because
I thought this is leading us towards, as you say, fascism or kind of authoritarianism.
But then I thought if you look back at the authoritarian regimes, women didn't really
have the vote back then, like the Stasi and Bolsheviks and all those kinds of things.
So I guess even just with men, we might lead towards authoritarianism.
Yeah. We can pull it off too. I don't, I think the men do it sort of volitionally.
I don't, I think women don't do it volitionally. I mean, men just go, look, I'm an authoritarian
and I want to make me and my friends rich and you guys can all starve and die. Women
are like, we need to help the good people from whatever Middle Eastern shithole they're
living in and we need to welcome them in, you know, like they have these kind of weird
things like nobody's illegal and walls don't keep people out. They keep people in and
they have a lot of like sort of retarded sayings that don't make any sense. But they, they
do in a kind of welcoming way. And then at some point they get stabbed, you know, but,
the, the, the heart is kind of in the right place. Like it's a real kind of save you from
yourself kind of situation. Like I feel like I'm saying to these people, I know you think
I'm bad and mean. I'm actually trying to prevent you from ruining your city. Yeah.
Which you've already begun ending up in a book or something. Right. Yes, you can end up
in a burger. Yeah. That's right. And say that happy. And also whether we're like gays
for Palestine. Like Christ. Okay. Good luck. This is I would, I started
a group called the two by fours for termites, which is, we probably didn't even know what
a two by four is it kind of call a thing? Sorry. Oh, it applies to a thing of woods. It's
a two by four for, because I think they called that as well on the four by fours. A car,
isn't it? Well, what are they? What do they call a two by four? Probably that. I'm just,
I've just never done any DIY. Plank of woods. How many square feet you live in? Oh, no,
this again. We talked for half an hour before the show about the square feet and what my
father-in-law asks, you don't know what a two by four is. Wow. That is a piece of new
life. He said, wood, isn't it? Yes. Is it? Is that it? Yeah. Yeah. You would know. He's
Polish. Yes. He should know. Paul's no word. Yeah. Paul is the Polish truck. Is it, is that
what it is? Yeah. Yeah. Well, I said from the start, you said it's a car. You thought
it was a car. Two by four for termites. What is it? Oh, it's like taking, it's like taking
wood and saying we need to defend termites, which is basically like saying queers for
Palestine, like they want to eat you. Yeah. You understand? You're not. I know you think
this sounds progressive, but they will kill you. Yeah. Well, I think they actually will
eventually, unfortunately. Yeah. We'll have to get out of the country or something,
in Britain at least. What about California being the hot blonde that never had to study?
We got by on our looks for a long time, which is we had the ocean and we had the hills and
we had the weather and you know, we have the topography that is super attractive. So we didn't
have to do much to encourage people to come here because we were sort of a hot blonde.
You know, we didn't, we attracted men. We didn't even have to have a personality or
sense of humor cook or make money or anything. People just came to the hot blonde, you
know, but you know, we're getting older now and we're getting crow's feet and wrinkles
and gray hair and we're not that attractive anymore. People aren't coming here anymore.
We basically had a hot blonde and she had a good run, but she never got her degree and
she drank too much and now she's old and fat and no one wants to fuck her basically is
what has happened. And so now people are leaving the hot blonde and going to places, you
know, like Nashville, Tennessee and stuff, you know, I've lived here my whole life. If
someone, it was unthinkable that someone would move to Montana or Idaho or Tennessee, unthinkable
Austin, they go to Austin, going to Austin. Who would go to Austin?
What it feels like to me is that progressives have fucked up this city and state and then
they just want to move to the next place. That's nice because it didn't have progressives
in it and now they're going to go and fuck that up. Yeah, that's, that's what, that's
what they do. It's so frustrating. Yeah, I know, it's like they literally just ruined
their own city and then they decide they should move somewhere else that's more hospitable
and then they just bring their politics and they just begin the process of ruining that
city, which is a super narcissistic way to go through life, you know what I mean? If you
think about it, because you should actually kind of pump the brakes and go, maybe some
of these policies aren't great, things how we just fled the city that implemented all
those policies.
Do you know, do you know the anywhere versus somewhere people that are in theory? This
is like a David Goodhart kind of and I really like it as it sort of describes what seems
to be how it's that liberal league would be the kind of anywhere people, although I'm probably
one of them as well.
So growing up middle class, I don't really like and live in Argentina. I can live in America,
move around languages and all those kinds of things. I had access to that. And then
the somewhere people are people of an actual place. So they're from, you know, they live
on a street. They probably live on that street the whole lives. So when the kind of anywhere
people who are in charge make a decision, like we're going to let a lot of immigration
and then they say, oh, it's fine. I haven't seen any differences because they live in this
really nice place and they move around. The guy who just lives
on that street the whole life is like, my whole, I used to be able to go out and leave
my door open. Right. You know, I think that that kind of explains what, what seems to
be happening.
These people who are anywhere people, they can just, oh, I'll just ruin this city and head
off to Nashville. I don't care. It's the people who are the somewhere people who are
of the city that screwed that's a theology that I would subscribe to myself. Yes. And
also, I mean, there's an element of a lot of the people who are making a lot of these
policies live in very nice parts of the city that are safe. And so it's easy for them
to, they don't take public transportation for instance. So it's, you can enact these
policies because they really don't affect you feel like politicians should be forced to
go on public transport and those kinds of things to see the differences they're making.
I completely agree. I mean, the public transportation is sort of the yardstick you kind of measure
up society. You know, if the public transportation is safe and clean and orderly, there's a pretty
good chance.
the society is safe and clean and orderly. And so if you really want to sample a city,
use public transportation. And as a politician, you should constantly have your finger on
that pulse. And no, because it's when the SUV with the tinted windows picks you up and you just
sit in the back in the air conditioning and tweet on your phone, that is not taking the bus to
the subway, you know, and I agree with that. You should be forced to do it. Have you had friends
where you were growing up in the comedy industry and out in here in LA and Hollywood? Do you have
some friends who did go totally that kind of liberal elite way? Yeah, a lot of them. How did that
sort of happen? How did, what was the experience show business go the liberal elite way?
Yeah, did you start falling out with people like, how was it for you? Well, in Hollywood,
you're making a business decision. It's an important business decision to go liberal,
because you will be blackballed and unhierable. So the thing about Hollywood is it's pretty
people are replaceable at every level. The actors are, the writers are. It's a job a lot of people
can do and only a few people get paid to do. But you're really interchangeable and everyone kind
of knows that and they don't really say it out loud. But if you think about any movie franchise,
you know, most or many of the big movie franchises, they go, you know, Indiana Jones, that was supposed
to be Tom Selleck, but he had to do season five of, you know, Pete Magnum PI. So they got Harrison
Ford to do it. So you can swap anybody out for anybody and it works that way in the writer's room.
You know, there's the writer's room in a sitcom or late night show might have 15 people in it.
It's all politics. It's only there because they're like, you walk in
with a mega hat. So they know that and everyone's
semi mediocre mode. I mean, there's a handful of really talented people. Everyone else is just
in the middle. Every writer's room I've been in that has 16 writers. You only need three of them.
The 13 are worthless and can be swapped out with anybody. And that's what they do. And they
make rules. They go like, you need, you know, you need two women and two black and two Hispanic and
they go, yeah, go ahead, sit down. And they just sit out. They don't do anything. And the other three
guys just write all the, all the stuff. That's how that's how the business works. And how many
conservatives hold Republicans? They're always zero. So so people understand that they're totally
replaceable. They're they're probably mediocre and they're being way over compensated for whatever
it is they're they're doing. That being understood, now we get into the popularity part and now we
get into the kind of high school part of it. Do you want to get on the wrong side of the people
that are making the decisions about who's coming to that writers room by telling them you voted
for Trump? And the answer is you definitely don't want to do that. So you have you have a couple of
groups. You have this now. So here's here's the other part of it. Let's just get rid of politics.
Let's just say you found out the guy who runs the company is vegan. You might say, well, that's his
business because I'm eating a ham sandwich tomorrow. I'm bringing it to work. Someone might tap
you on the show and go, I don't I don't know if that's a good idea. He sees he's not sandwich.
That's how all Hollywood is because I'm a vegetarian. I didn't give a shit what anyone else eats.
Right. But you're your vegetarian who is on the right side of the aisle. Like you're a vegetarian.
But you're vegetarian, but you're lean conservative. Now I lean conservative. So it's not my business
tell anyone what to do about COVID, but I'm not a lefty. A lefty is I'm a lefty and it's my
business to tell you everything about veganism or COVID or anything else. What I'm saying is
vegetarian. I'm going to scream. The point is that the point is that I'll put it to you. Let's say
the person that runs this company is a woman and she's vegan. You start walking in with that
ham sandwich and eventually it's going to be like, why was it invited to the Christmas parties?
That's an all-to-food Christmas. In other words, she doesn't like you because you're eating a ham
sandwich and you would go, what difference does it make? I'm pretty good at working at this place
and it's like, you don't get it. She's vegan. We call that Islam issue now as well.
Right. She doesn't like what you're doing. You don't like what you're doing. So that's how Hollywood
works. So there are progressives. Now you want to get ahead in that company? Don't just not bring
the ham sandwich. Show up with your Toeferky burger and tell that bitch, guess who else is vegan?
And she'll go, really? And they go, oh, and then they go, what's you sitting out of my office
and eat your Toeferky burger here? That's how Hollywood works. So you have people that are left
as and then you have all the other preening liars who are just signaling all the time. They're
signaling. And then you have the Moranos, the quiet people that are like, people come up on the
Sun. Hey, listen, I agree with you, but don't, don't out me. Does that happen here? Oh, yeah.
For sure. Yeah. I have, well, I haven't had friends do it.
I have people on sets do it to me. Mostly camera guys, like guys who work, they still come up. I
agree with you, but I don't want it. I don't know if people find out. That's not vegan.
That points to this kind of, I mean, you grew up working classes, right? And it points to a kind of,
they don't understand. Well, sort of. I mean, people in my family didn't really work, but I give
what you mean when it's working just class class. Yeah, I wish they worked a little more. Yeah.
Well, does it, but it points to what I think you've been saying, which is that they don't seem to
understand ordinary people. No, they have some sort of pie in the sky. I mean, I have to say this,
I don't know what a two by four is. They don't know the square footage at home. They don't need the
the green export of the country that come from. I mean, it's a disaster. You should be vegetarian.
I could keep going. We spoke about, I get squeamish about animals. That's it. I've always been a
bit squeamish about putting like a dead animal in my mouth. Yeah, you must get like, you wouldn't,
maybe you wouldn't eat a cockroach, or would you? Not on purpose. Would be a bit gross a bit.
I would, well, I mean, listen, if I went to Thailand and they've cooking cockroaches,
I'm like, try one. Yeah, no, I wouldn't, I wouldn't intentionally eat it. Good on me though. You've
got, you've got a stronger disposition than I have. I don't know. I'm with you. I can't fish,
like, like when people go, we got a fish and they go, how do you bait and they go,
you take the minnow and you put the hook through its eye and then you throw it. I'm like,
yeah, I couldn't do that. Yeah, I'm squeamish that way as well. I don't hunt, I don't fish,
but I'm, but I'm also a hypocrite because I'll eat a cow. That's, that's the thing. I know,
it, you know, we've all got off things, don't we? You spoke before about being a bit more conservative
or whatever it might be and that might be the sort of resistance or things like gynefascism.
We had in the UK a conservative government for 14 years and they brought in more immigrants and
mess up the country more than the entire history of the country. Really? Yeah, they would probably
call it the Boris wave, Boris Johnson's Conservative Prime Minister. He brought in, you know,
1.3 million people came in one year. We've got only 50 million in the country. It's a huge number,
mostly from places like Pakistan and Iran because you can't turn that back. Right. So I sort of feel,
I don't know what, what I'm asking about. I feel quite defeated. So I feel like no matter who
is in charge, this is the way we're heading. Yeah. It's, it's, it's, it's, it's a problem, especially,
I mean, look, you, you have a fundamental issue. People are leaving their culture and their state
and their nation because it's failed. I mean, you have your first things first, why are you leaving?
I mean, it's the same thing. It's like why are you leaving Los Angeles? Well, you screwed it up.
And now you're moving to Austin and now you're going to screw up Austin, which is a microcosm
of this bigger problem, which is you're coming from a place that's a dump because you guys ruined it
because whatever your culture dictates that, that destroyed it and then you're exporting your thing
to England or Germany or wherever else and you've brought all these cultural foibles and you're
now slowly
dismantling this place with your horrible culture and people don't want to talk
about it because it seems racist but unless you talk about it then there is a
place called Somalia it's a dump and now Minneapolis is going to become a
dump as well because too many people who created the dump in Somalia are now
inhabiting Minneapolis which is a I don't know you know it's like I tell
people all the time if you take carpenter ants and you just move them from one
place to another they'll just do what they did over there because that's kind of
what they do you know that's if you took beavers and put them at the top of the
Empire State Building they'd start looking for wood and then you'd go what
you need wood for building a dam yeah look at the view why you build a dam that's
that's what we do yeah people's cultures are sort of ingrained that's they're
just they're going to eat what they eat they're going to play the music they're
going to play and they're going to do all the good stuff and all the bad
stuff their culture has to offer except for we know there's more bad stuff
because you ruined your place of origin well they know that as well I mean I
lived in many years in Argentina and Colombia for some one year though as well
and they will always say to one another as a sort of joke like I wouldn't it
been good if the British had invaded us rather than the Spanish would be like
Australia now right they know that you know yes well they there's got to be a
part of the nose it because they want to come to these places and use all the
accoutrements that we've built essentially good work that's a good way French
yeah my audience just went on better yeah guys use that in a sentence today
accoutrements accoutrements yeah yeah I like that what does it mean to have to
earn our sanity I think you're saying that we were talking about these oh what
I'm so what I'm saying is is grub hub and you know all online porn and all
the stuff all the the ease of modern culture and society like you know you
plug your car in and you turn the thermostat down and you don't have to go
chop wood or you know hunt and kill and cook and all that or harvest your own
fields and stuff like that it's all it's all it all comes to us now you know
everything I mean everything's on the TV everything's everything's air
condition people don't know what to buy for us sadly so when I'm when I'm sort
of saying to people is is everyone's going insane because of this and and what
I'm basically saying to people is you need to go you need ordinary misery in
your life you need to go wash your car yourself not take it to the car wash you
need to cook your meals not call grub hub to come you need to do projects you
need to have hobbies you know I I changed the garbage disposal at my studio
yesterday and I was and by the way I told these guys who all work with me
who are all young men who are completely worthless they don't know what any
they don't know what tools are they don't know what to do I mean
you could say to them go the back of the shop and get the pliers or something
they just go I don't know what it was I said go the backs on the bench in the
back like what do you mean like I they don't know anything they know what a
bench is I was questioned by the way you know what I do when people go what's
a bench I go oh it's a flat thing we're just get back there get the fucking
tools what you shut up I'm not going to answer every one of your retarded
questions by the way then they ask a lot of questions which just sort of buys
them time you know they're not really they don't really not know what stuff is
they think it's a good idea to ask questions all the time here's the deal the
garbage disposal that's the thingy that goes under the sink yeah takes all the
coffee grounds yeah it was bad at my at my studio I own the building for a while
and I just hadn't used it that much wasn't that big a deal but I just ordered one
and it's been like sitting in the box for like two months and I just had a
little time yesterday and I just said to the kids who don't know anything I go
I'm gonna swap this garbage disposal out I'm gonna do it under 20 minutes I'm
gonna take this whole thing out put this new one in it's gonna work and I said
15 to 20 minutes I think go ahead and tie me and I'm not a plumber but I know
how to do everything so I swapped it out I screwed something up had to undo
a thing and redo it didn't put the gasket in and whatever but it took 18
minutes and I did it and it kind of felt good like I didn't call a plumber I
didn't get the task rabbit guy into there whatever and it is when you do a lot
of basic tactile things we could be really basic stuff like I said simple wash
your own car make your own meals kind of thing have a little project you're
gonna take on put a garbage disposal in or whatever all these things keep you
sane when you start outsourcing everything which everyone does now just call
the guy get the guy to come do this to bring the food fix the stuff do what
there's a mobile detailer the guy'll come to your house with a van he'll
detail your I go just it's Saturday the sunshine just go wash your own car
I go why I don't want to get the met it's like we've outsourced too much and
that's why we've gone insane women have gone insane they're like throwing
down at every airport they're going insane so it used to be real basic stuff
that just kept you sane like you'd have to walk to the well you'd have to
milk the cow you'd have to harvest the eggs you have to make the fire and cook
the food for everybody you winter was coming you have to salt the way the
meats in the pemican or whatever that's all gone now everyone's just sitting
around and they're taking prescription meds because they're not right they're
not feeling right because they're not doing anything so then they get involved
with the pharmaceuticals and then you know it says that I'm depressed I don't
feel rudderless you know we'll take these now we're medicating and we're still
not doing anything and we're sitting around and we're going insane it's
amazing how close everything you just said is to brave new world out of
successfully which he wrote I don't know when it was 20s 30s 40s one of those
decades and that's what that is it's just the future as opposed to all wells which
was government was going to be all over you and that was the authoritarian end
this was we're just going to have everything done for us we're going to lie
there like in Wally we're going to take drugs this one this drug called
Soma that's kind of the end of us that's how we yeah that's what's happening
I think it's a mix of his and all wells which so we got the authoritarian
overreach happening from the government that's all well and then us just sitting
there yes it's they're both coming to fruition did you ever watch King of
the Hill yes because that's what that I've been rewatching all of that the
series the cartoon yeah yeah I've been rewatching all of that and it's it's a
very American kind of can do and they'll sit around the what you described
about give me 20 minutes I'm gonna redo this that's how they are and they seem
it's pretty happy everybody I know who's on their feet and working and in the
industry where they're building and fabricating and turning the wrenches and
stuff they're always the same they're not clicking their heels together
happy they're never depressed or morose they're just consistent and COVID came
and it didn't bother any of them one bit they never brought it up to me I have a
group of white collar sort of show busy people and then I have a group of
blue collar dudes who I build my cars with and build my houses with blue collar
guys completely unaffected by COVID never brought it up shook their hand never
got the Purell out never put the mask on as if it didn't it wasn't happening
though the the Hollywood types they took over their lives that's crazy but
the blue collar guys they couldn't you know they go out and go for a run or go
down to the you know they couldn't go out and do things they you know it's
weird is blue collar guys as long as they can do their blue collar work they're
good they don't go for runs they're they work eight hours a day on their feet
moving turn in wrenches and moving two by fours and stuff that's the run that's
that they do for exercise they sweat all day see that's king of the hill that's
what they do I've been really enjoying it I'm like gosh I need to figure out I
should start doing home things yeah I'm not gonna do it now we're gonna have
more more gyno fascism because I think more women are getting involved in
that stuff we're gonna have more AI doing people's jobs for them so you're
gonna be sitting around and all that it's gonna be more globalization more
people moving around yeah what are we just fucks yeah well we're gonna
segregate and we're gonna be safe spaces and octagons and we're just gonna
have to go the octagon and live with the people like guns and water skiing and
freedom and
building and then there's going to be the crumbling safe spaces people and they're just
going to get fat. They can't build anything. Are you worried? No. I mean, I'm not. You're
still going to be in charge. You're in charge of your own sanity. Like, no, I'm not worried.
There's a bunch of people that are going to suffer because they brought it upon themselves
and that's their decision. When you look at, do you hear much about Britain and what's
going on over in Europe? Yes. You're worried about that. I don't like the idea that I can't
go to Britain and see a beef eater out there and guarding the pound. I like the version
of it that is from my childhood and so I'm inclined like not to want to go there as much
and I kind of feel the same way about Paris, you know, and many other places like sadly
in Europe. But I would go, but if I came to LA, I wouldn't go to Hollywood or downtown,
you know what I mean? I'd go to Santa Barbara and if I came to Britain, I'd go to Chichester
and I'd go do the goodwood automotive events over there and then I'd be with all the people.
I like to be with in a safe, clean place because that's where those people are and I wouldn't
go to London and deal with the Middle East or folk. You see? So we're going to self-segregate.
Right. Yeah. Somebody was telling me, there's a professor of civil war studies and he was
saying that's kind of how it would happen. There's a highway that goes around London with
the M25 and that will be kind of the point where there's a civil war between like the
urban mellons. Yeah, and eventually the only problem is is those people are going to need
the help of the builders who don't want to be in their system and they're going to have
an issue because they can't build or create or do anything differently. I've bought
a house that's just inside the M25. So I'm like, perhaps I was talking to this guy and
he was like, are you sure that's where you draw the line? He's like, that's where the
line's going to be like, you'll be fine. That's the end of it. Is there a version of
California that can come back? Yeah. If they stop voting for all these nut jobs, but they
won't, that's what they like it. It's like a cult, isn't it? Yeah. Yeah. It's a cult.
They like it. What would you tell a 25 year old in California or Britain who's thinking,
gosh, do I have to leave? Yeah, I would say just leave. But because here's the good news.
Well, I don't really, I'm not affected by it. I'm not looking to buy my first home, you
know what I mean? I'm not looking to be gainfully employed. You know, I have my own world that
is fine with me, but I am looking to leave. But I would say, look, in the past, I don't
know what was going on in Texas and I don't know what was going on in Tennessee and I don't
know what was going on in Wyoming. But I know now it's got a Starbucks and a top golf
and a PF Changs. Let's go wherever you want. Not fair enough. Where can people find your

Podcast Summary
Key Points:
Hollywood and progressive politics prioritize liberal signaling over substance, with key decisions driven by group loyalty and political conformity rather than merit.
Cities like Los Angeles and London have degraded due to excessive regulation, cultural shifts, and political overreach, leading to declining quality of life and economic stagnation.
Progressive policies often lack clear goals and function as endless agitation—such as drag queen story hours or mandatory flags—without practical benefits or endgames.
A growing disconnect exists between political elites (the "anywhere people") and local residents ("somewhere people"), with the former moving to new areas to repeat their policies, exporting dysfunction.
Women’s increased influence in governance leads to heightened emphasis on safety and regulation, which stifles construction, innovation, and economic activity.
Cultural norms—including immigration patterns and consumption habits—are seen as self-perpetuating; once established, they spread to new regions, worsening societal conditions.
The erosion of hands-on, everyday tasks—like cooking, car maintenance, or DIY projects—has contributed to a broader sense of cultural and mental decline.
The speaker argues that cities can recover only if voters reject progressive extremism and return to practical, locally grounded governance and values.
Summary:
FAQs
The main criticism is that Hollywood prioritizes liberal politics over substance, leading to a culture where individuals are blackballed for opposing progressive views. Writers' rooms are described as politically driven, with most writers being interchangeable and only a few being truly talented.
The speaker believes Los Angeles has deteriorated into a chaotic, unmanageable environment due to excessive regulations, political interference, and cultural shifts, likening it to Mexico. The decline includes rising crime, poor public services, and a loss of economic vitality.
It means progressive movements continuously push for new social changes without stopping, often without a clear end goal. This leads to a cycle of agitation—like promoting drag queen story hours or gay pride parades—without tangible benefits or long-term vision.
The speaker claims London has transformed into a place resembling parts of the Middle East due to high immigration and cultural shifts, while Los Angeles has become more culturally Mexicanized, especially in construction and labor. Both are seen as examples of cultural degradation due to unchecked immigration and political policies.
Gynofascism is described as a political ideology where women's emphasis on safety, emotions, and regulation leads to excessive rules and restrictions that stifle economic growth, innovation, and building activity in cities.
The speaker attributes Oakland's decline to overregulation, excessive safety policies, and political decisions that prioritize social control over practical development, such as banning outdoor activities and failing to support local businesses like In-N-Out Burger.
