The Show Embarrassed Zaslow In Front of Laura Rutledge | Hour 3

The Dan Levitar Show blends passionate football analysis with humor, personal anecdotes, and broader cultural commentary. It highlights the emotional intensity of the football season, where fans become deeply invested in games they initially didn’t care about. The show celebrates game-day traditions, such as a cold Miller Lite, and honors the unsung workers who make football possible. It also examines current team performances, notably praising the 49ers’ strong start under Kyle Shanahan and questioning the decline of Florida State’s program. A major theme is the growing shift in sports media toward positive, celebratory narratives, with athletes like Mike Evans and Brock Purdy becoming central figures. The show also features satirical moments, like the claim that Dan Zaslow attended Santa Fe homecoming, and uses humor to critique misinformation. These elements combine to create a dynamic, reflective, and entertaining take on college and professional football, blending strategy, nostalgia, and light-hearted commentary.

There is nothing casual about football season. You can tell yourself you're just going to watch one game, and six hours later, you're emotionally invested in a fourth quarter between two teams you don't even care about. That's what I love about this time of year. The entire weekend becomes football. You're texting friends, tracking games, second-guessing coaches, convincing yourself you saw something before everybody else did. And then Monday comes around, and you get to do the whole thing again. Those are the weekends you remember. And for me, some of the best ones have usually involved some good people, a great game, and a cold Miller Lite. No matter what triumphs are in store this season, legendary game days start with Miller Lite. Cold, crisp, refreshing, that clean finish. And it's part of plenty of memorable football weekends. Zaslow, tough weekend for Zaslow for a number of reasons. He's feuding with the internet. I think he's got a problem with Mike Ryan. Yesterday, not a great day for Zaslow during Bengals-Dolphins when on one play you had the rare double punch fumble situation. Two punches on one play. They were great. Somebody got punched in the face yesterday. Yeah, but yesterday you get the rare on one play, two fumbles dislodged on the same play from a double punch situation. Dan, I watched one play during a game yesterday where the defender. cocks back his arm all behind the shoulder and just a roundhouse punch. Everyone's good with this? Yeah, dude. There have been a lot of effective punches lately. Everyone's become Pina Tillman. The precision of these punches. They're so good at it. It's incredible and these are game-changing plays. I saw a guy miss the ball and hit someone in the face and my wife's like, that can't be legal. I'm like, Zaslow, not happy about that. I said that out loud. She had no idea what that meant. The one out of like 17 punches that were successful? That's the least of my worries though. even have time to care about the punching this weekend. What I do care about is for my college football campus tour this weekend on ESPN Radio we were in Gainesville. Very glad to go back to my alma mater. It was homecoming. Can we talk for just a second before we get into the beef on how wrong we were two weeks ago about the Gators? They have no pass rush. South Carolina in third and long eviscerated them and South Carolina is not the team that can do that. Cocktober. You know about that Cocktober? Put it on the poll. Do you know about that Cocktober at Levitard show? You were saying Zaslow. So I'm in Gainesville and it's homecoming and that's awesome and I was able to get some time to sit down with Laura Rutledge to come on my show on Friday nights, alright? She's super sweet. She was really great and I posted a picture of me and Laura Rutledge. It was from Gator Growl on Friday Are you on your tippy toes? No! I'm absolutely not on my Why would I be on my tiptoes? Because it looks like you're portnoying. That's what that's called? Yeah. Why would I be on my tiptoes? Because you're short. Because she's taller than you? Number one, I don't think she's taller than me. You don't want to get mugged? I'm definitely not on my tiptoes. I couldn't give a shit, alright? I'm definitely not on my tiptoes The picture made it seem that way. You know what? I don't even care. That's not what I'm upset about Let me see who's taller. Let me see this thing again. Sick ESPN shirt Thanks. Honestly, Zas looks good in this photo. I got your back here, Zas Not only does he look good, he looks like the two of them are posing for the hottest new podcast going, Laura Rutledge spends time with somebody who crosses his arms Hell of a title there So, I post this really nice picture of me and Laura Rutledge, and it's just non-stop comments on the ESPN radio and my account with people saying that I went to Santa Fe What am I doing at the University of Florida pretending that I'm at homecoming for UF when I went to Santa Fe? That's a disgrace. The caption said, "Two great Gators." That's right. I said, "Zas went to Santa Fe." Yeah, and everyone is piling on, and now what's happening is, Laura Rutledge definitely sees the picture as like, "Wow, Zas didn't even go to UF," because why would she think that there are hundreds of people commenting that I went to Santa Fe if I didn't go to Santa Fe? So, Laura Rutledge definitely thinks that I went to Santa Fe, thinks I'm a huge liar, and now, because of you. You went to Santa Fe. It's alright. I went to Miami Dade Community College, too, and I'm a Miami guy. Wow, that's a shame that you couldn't get into a university, but that's your problem, not mine. I couldn't get into Miami. I'm not a white from New Jersey. I went to the University of Florida. I've never been to a community college. Not that there's anything wrong with that. It's just not for me. If somebody held a gun to my head and said, "Tell me where Santa Fe Community College is," or "I pull the trigger and I kill you," I'm dead, Dan. That's a strange reason for someone to hold a gun to your head, and it's a strange reason for someone to put your life on the line. I don't know where it is. I'm dead. I'm a dead person. You should be comfortable in embracing that you went to Assisi. You see how I didn't respond to you right away because I'm dead? Hey, there's nothing wrong with community colleges. You said it wasn't for you. They forced it upon me. You heard that silence there? It's because I'm dead. You were on your tippy toes, though. No, I wasn't. It doesn't even matter, but I wasn't. Who am I trying to impress? Why do I have to be on my tiptoes? Laura Rutledge. Oh, it's Laura Rutledge. Yay. But I'm embarrassed. I'm embarrassed because she definitely looks at it and is like, "Wow, why would Zaslow pretend that he's a UF graduate? He told me he graduated in 2004. Why is he a liar?" So now I'm a liar who went to Santa Fe. I saw you had a nine-minute interview with her, too. I almost watched it to see what's what in there. Why didn't you watch? Just because I wanted to—only to shame you. If I was watching it, it was just to find something to replay here. The school pride was swelling. Way to push your squad over the line against South Carolina, who's definitely not a dead-ass program. What happened there? They got exposed. South Carolina, on third and long—okay, let's start here. They got exposed a number of different ways, but two weeks ago, okay? Two weeks ago, I don't believe any of us were saying that, "Hey, Iowa is better than the two big programs in Florida that aren't Miami." And we are saying that today because Florida has not fallen quite as far as FSU did. If you weren't watching, what happened to FSU? They're up 14-0, and they go to try to make it 21-0 by going forward. I'm fourth and short, even though they could have made it a three-score game early, and then they'd never score again and just get—the floor gets wiped by, you know, Louisville. And I'm scared of saying "Louisville" because I don't say it right. Louisville. But Florida— And they wipe the floor with FSU. Yes, Louisville— And Jeff Braum just didn't bring out a mop and started getting to work. I mean, they scored 40 or something unanswered. It was asinine. What happened to FSU, where they had complete control of the game, and they didn't make it a three-score game. Norvell, and those extra-medium shirts that he loves to wear, gets embarrassed again. He can wear a shirt, Dan. And Florida has no pass rush and allows South Carolina on third and long over and over and over again to do whatever they want in that game. And I think you're right, Mike. Once everyone figured out that Florida is going to try to run the ball, run the ball, run the ball, and that their Georgia Tech transfer quarterback's not going to throw it down the field, the field gets a lot smaller. But we all said UF was back and could score on anybody, and they have been strangled the last couple of weeks. Yeah, they have a lot of talent. They have had some injuries and guys that could help stretch the field a little bit. But the Miami Hurricanes haters were on their ass. Everything here is behind the line of scrimmage. Everything's three yards and under. So if someone sells out to stop the run, how are they going to keep the opposing team's offense? And I do think that the wait-and-see method, when it comes to this entire SEC—look, I thought it's Red River, funny things happen, Venables can coach defense, they'll keep that game close. I'm stunned that Texas lost that game. And look, Georgia and Alabama are benefiting from playing each other. Georgia? I think we all need to just wait and see with this conference. I don't know how LSU is ranked. It's crazy. It's nutty. Kentucky, though. Kentucky deserves. Spooky team. Yeah, but Kentucky has made its name on beating Texas A&M. You see that garbage? And South Carolina. And South Carolina, who's not good because they beat Florida. South Carolina's not good, they just beat LSU. So my question is, is LSU any good? Wait and see on this entire conference. But speaking of not good— It really has been. If you're somebody who cares about this stuff, it really has been interesting to watch during the last five years of incredible transition in the sport where everyone is trying to figure out how to play with money to look at exactly what Florida State specifically has squandered when they had an undefeated team before their quarterback got hurt that could have won the national championship. And they are now 10-21 in their last 31 games. There are only 14 teams in the country that have been worse than that over the same span. And the last time Florida State won a road game, and I'm talking about Florida State here, right? This is a prestige premier program. This is a program that for two decades in a row under Bobby Bowden finished in the top four. It's one of the great accomplishments ever in college football. They didn't win enough to be remembered, win the championship enough to be remembered the way Saban's teams were. But for 20 years, Florida State was a top four team, and now they have not won a road game since November of 2023 at the Swamp. That is giving up all of your legacy in history. But more recently, it's also giving up that Norvell was undefeated, and if he has a healthy quarterback, he maybe wins the national championship. You know what that sounds like, Zaz? A Jordan Travis merchant. A merchant. Right now on DraftKings Sportsbook, the line for Miami-Florida State is 21. I don't think I've ever seen a Miami-Florida State line that big. Even when the Canes were down? No, maybe Florida State's been that big of a favorite, but I don't think Miami's ever been that big of a favorite over Florida State. And they're just going to keep Norvell, huh? Apparently they're bankrupt. Well, they're broke, yeah. The athletic department cannot afford. So they just have to declare bankruptcy. It's in debt and can't afford. This is the thing I'm saying about how. How quickly something gets squandered. That's not even five years, it's three. Like, they haven't won a road game since 2023. This is one of the prestige premier programs in the country. Made the top of the ACC matter long before Clemson did, at least in part because they simply existed. And now it's all been squandered when I tell you that their record over the last 31 games, there are only 14 teams that are worse. That's really difficult as a Power 4 team. That has a level of talent. I don't understand that one at all. It's almost as impossible as being 0 for your last 31 against ranked teams. Matt Rule, welcome back. That would have been the biggest win of Matt Rule's career. He was this close to winning that game. Indiana is lesser. Nebraska has fixed some things. That gap has obviously closed because Indiana can't be what it was last year when it was the most surprising, best thing in the history of college football for a single season. And he was coming off his cameo in Lanterns, Dan. I know that they don't have the same kind of quarterback and they don't have the same kind of secondary, but their D-line is still pretty active. They have two first-round wide receivers in Marsh and Becker. They have two really good running backs. Hoover is certainly good enough to make a lot of throws. I'd be worried if I were Ohio State. I am so pumped for that game. I know Indiana's been in some battles, but Northwestern's proven to be good. And I think Nebraska, while it's still Matt Rule and we like to laugh, certainly a better Nebraska than we've seen under Matt Rule. That's only a three-and-a-half point spread in Bloomington. And if Ohio State does lose that game, Zazz, sneaky fight for your life in the CFP for Ohio State. What if Julian Sane was on Indiana? You guys want to hear some of the road losses for FSU the last couple years? Zazz, were you just doing just saying? That's exactly what you did. You just did just saying. They've lost at Duke, at SMU, at Virginia, at Stanford. At NC State. At UF. I don't like this character. You saw one at NC State, Dan. The Deacons of Mass Destruction. The Miami win against Wake Forest is looking mighty impressive when you look at what Wake Forest can do on offense. And I texted Mike this weekend, I might be able and willing to do something I have not considered since the heyday of Riley Skinner. I believe this might be the best Wake Forest team I've ever seen. I don't think it's hyperventilation. I don't think it's overreaction. It is a rhetorical trip. They haven't had very many that are good. But not since Riley Skinner's 10-1 Demon Deacons have I seen a team that's this impressive. That Miami victory over Wake Forest, I'd say that Ohio State and some of these other schools don't have a victory as good as that one. And no one's going to believe it because it's Wake Forest. But Wake Forest is really good. Hispanic connection. Not just, but it's not just offense. Their defensive line is also very good. You know what P.J. Fleck found out? You can wipe all the blood on your face as you want. But going at Purdue and winning and coming out alive? That's something that's only reserved for the Deacons of Mass Destruction. Are we going to be able to get anyone excited about Wake Forest, Zaz? Because their history is so ominous. In the laundry list of indictments that this whole Chapel Hill experience has brought forth to what was believed to be the greatest head football coach of all time. He had Gio Lopez last year. Let me remind all of you. And don't be fooled. That was Pitt's backup quarterback. That's not a real win. That shouldn't count. They beat 5-0 Pitt, but that's not a real thing. Their backup quarterback isn't the same as what their starting quarterback was. It's fun, as someone who has no real dog in the fight, to watch Miami's greatest argument for the ACC be, I mean, I'm pretty sure Wake Forest is good. They're really good. I'm pretty sure they're good. That one team in our conference, they're good, right? Right? Everybody agree? Jeremy, you could try to poke holes in Miami all you want. This ain't the year. I'm not poking holes at all. And that's how I know Wake Forest is good. Wake Forest. Wake Forest may succumb to the thing that all ACC teams do. But I will say, I've been impressed over the last two weeks. They haven't lost the ACC loss yet. Oh, this isn't me saying that Miami isn't an elite, great team. It's saying they're not in a very good conference. And when the one thing you're holding up is actually a good Wake Forest team, there is something still kind of funny. Like, we have to just be able to, like, step back and admit it's kind of funny that the one thing Miami will hold up outside of the Notre Dame win will be that Wake Forest team. Yeah, Wake Forest win. Don't worry about the horse. Pack the wagon. That's what Miami does. When you only have to play your conference, you can only play who you're scheduled, Jeremy. Like, you want them to go play non-conference games. They've done it. They can only play who they play. I'm going to say it again. Not since Riley Skinner have I seen a Demon Deacon team this good. Thank you. That makes me feel stronger. All of them are Deacs, huh? Remember, it's not someone walking through a four-horse. What? Chris, you've had about three of them today. No, I haven't. Not like that. You've had about that chop. From Domino. You've had three of them today where you're trying to get in with a sentence that doesn't have a hiccup in it, and you fail. It's been about three of them. AI isn't something that's coming five or ten years from now. don't know good shit A little indie dance So there wasn't a lot of good football yesterday and some people are going to allege that Seahawks 49ers was among and it was on half of the field because Brock Purdy looks like an MVP That's three of the top six pass defenses that he has the best QBR in the sport against but that's the worst game we've seen Seattle play in two years and yet still they could have won if Jackson Smith and Jigba had made a catch I'm expecting him to make it wasn't the easiest catch but anytime the ball hits that guy's hands I'm never expecting it to fall to the floor that's as bad as Seattle has played empirically their offense the entire time they've been there and yet still at the end of the game they're playing the MVP of the league for the game and if the number one receiver in football makes a catch he makes how many times out of how many he says if you had to take a guess that catch is made by him how many times out of a hundred 99 yeah and so that's where and how it is that they end up losing the game and you guys do what with the fact that the 49ers are again 5 and 0 I believe we're all in the same position of saying yeah the Vikings 5 and 0 that's less real they've got half a team and maybe Justin Jefferson and Kyler Murray become something else but nobody believes in that 5 and 0 the way they would fear the San Francisco 5 and 0 I'll tell you the thing that has stood out to me the most about the Niners the the talks of Mike Evans demise very premature very premature but why would anybody actually think that given that he's an surefire first-round Hall of Famer and he always has thousand-yard seasons that's one of the impressive streaks in that sport of any kind the sheer number of thousand-yard seasons he's had immediately since coming out of Texas A&M well the last time Texas A&M was this kind of good by the way it only ended last year because he was hurt but that felt like a precursor to an older player who is going to be ravaged by injuries now and he's one of the best receivers the NFL this year and I wasn't sure how it was going to age yeah the frame the injuries that he's carried the in talking to people in the know kind of frustrated he's also Tom Brady because he approaches the game a little bit differently like in terms of like taking care of his body and like doing the work Tom Brady was like what we're older like why aren't you working as hard but he's just a god-given natural but all of a Brady Brady did a lot of lauding of him yesterday and when you watch some of what's happening in these broadcasts okay cuz the future of what football's going to sound like is being decided right now it's not just McAfee and Manning getting the giant contracts at ESPN and it's not just Jason Kelsey it's funny to me that the next evolution of how football is framed is going to be the punter and the quarterback from Indianapolis the rivals to the Tom Brady that we couldn't get they're gonna make the next 10 years sound like the different time in football where Tom Brady and Peyton Manning we're fighting over things Peyton Manning this portion of his career this part you've got to find this part funny when you talk about the giant dollars these guys are now competing for in retirement Brady gets the Raiders and 375 million dollars for a job that requires a lot less of him then ESPN is paying Manning to do not just the Manning cast but he has to make a bunch of stuff to earn his money through Omaha in order to compete with Tom Brady here and all Tom Brady has to do is be excited about football on Sundays and he sounds it like when he's talking yesterday he's good at that game you can hear you can hear more enthusiasm from Tom Brady than you've ever heard and a love of football then you've ever heard from him when he's doing any of his press conferences is and is bored by the questions and yesterday the way he talked about Mike Evans gave you an understanding of what he appreciated in Tampa Bay of being able to have that as a target just the size of that in a game of precision everything's chaotic around you I could throw to a guy who's in one-on-one coverage and he's bigger and stronger and can jump more than anybody who's covering him Mike Evans was great yesterday but I thought that that game was lost by Seattle more than it was won by San Francisco you can't play that kind of game the worst offensive game and expect to beat the 49ers you can't play that kind of game the worst offensive game and expect to beat the 49ers you can't play that kind of game the worst offensive game and expect to beat the 49ers and Dan Mike Evans did something on the field that made me gasp gasp because Trayvon Diggs has been in this league for a while and Mike Evans did one of the most disrespectful things I've ever seen and it was so disrespectful and unsettling that Diggs kind of went with it at first like what is Mike Evans trying to do here he turns he doesn't know who he's chirping with and he turns Diggs around to see the name on his back sick trash talk which is crazy disrespectful Diggs jabs him yeah which I mean I would do but I don't know who he's chirping with and he turns Diggs around to see the name on his back sick trash talk which is crazy disrespectful Diggs jabs him yeah which I mean I would do and like that's mad disrespect Diggs has been around for a while he's been a decent player in this league Mike Evans kind of had some remorse through it but that is an all-time badass moment here's Mike Evans I mean I was blocking him into the whistle and he says something like I'm doing extra or something like that and I didn't didn't know that was him at first because I played against him a few times and we always been cool you know he was he was a good player and I didn't honestly didn't know he it was him because in the helmet it's hard to tell sometimes and no we were just we were talking trash I think I like pushed him and he and then I was like who are you and I look at make sure he like in any we mush me I should have been a penalty I believe him I believe him as well I also believe that that's the perfect place for him as things fall apart in Tampa and you look at what a late career needs to look like when you look at his resume it's a decade of thousand-yard seasons no matter his quarterback it's the it's if he's got Johnny Manziel it's what he'll do in college like this has been an amazing career that he's had and this is the perfect place around those players for him to age making a bunch of giant plays and important moments I do like their strategy of like well if we're gonna have a hurt receiver let's just get like five of them that are always hurt and maybe one of them will be healthy when we need them so Brandon cooks Samuel Evans like it they're all there I'm gonna say again Brock Purdy has done the numbers that he's done which is the highest in the league the best in the league against three of the top six pass rated defenses in the sport like it's a it's not a mirage they're they're that kind of good at offense and he's developed a precision of just throwing to spots like you you guys understand when Brock Bowers is running he's always open like there's there there is not a way to cover that that way if you throw the ball with accuracy it's not guardable and Mike Evans is the same thing your cornerbacks aren't physically big enough to guard that at any age we're gonna have to have the the conversation that we had a couple years ago before the race war that was a Monday Night Football game between the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers Brock Purdy is an MVP leader right now are we prepared to have Brock Purdy versus Jared Goff MVP conversations off been a major red golf had 3/4 down touchdowns yesterday 3/4 down touchdown because they're just playing okay we'll be better if you want to give us an extra down to get the 10 yards we will figure out how to run our offense in a way that doesn't even matter there are secondaries filled with people who shouldn't be in the NFL there's a stat here from QB Gami where they said Jared Goff is the first player in NFL history to have 12-plus passing touchdowns in zero giveaways through a team's first five games of the season literally no one else in the history of the sport has been that good this It's the best way to support the show. Tony, you know that moment at a party or a tailgate where everything just sort of clicks. I know it well. It's usually when I show up, everybody goes crazy. Yeah, you usually take all the credit for it, but it's because Tony usually walks in with Cuervo. I walk in like this. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Cuervo is a thing that turns hanging out into this is the night. It has that effect on people. It does. You usually take the credit for it, but again, it's the Cuervo effect. It's like that moment in a big game where everyone in the crowd just starts standing up, hooting and hollering. Keep it Cuervo. Keep it Cuervo, baby. Dan Levitard. I don't know if it's strange for me, but like, Mike Ryan. Oh, boy. This is the Dan Levitard show. Tony is in the other room and he is preparing for his top five. We are in a position with the Lions where I think it's correct to say that they don't actually miss Ben Johnson, right? Like on offense, right? Like what? Is there anything that you have seen that would indicate? Don't they score? Don't they score 30 points in every game? Have they had a game where they don't score 30 points this season? They're putting it all on Gibbs, which I don't know. Gibbs seems bigger this year and also better than ever, coincidentally, but I did like being able to hand the ball to Montgomery because Montgomery made a lot of big plays at the end. But Gibbs, Gibbs honestly should also be in the MVP conversation. That's a really talented team. They scored 30 every game this year. Yeah. They are really good at offense. And I, you know, I think they're really good at offense. And I, you know, three fourth down touchdowns yesterday. He's wrong. No, they haven't. They scored 26 points when they lost to Carolina. I might not know anything about football. I will say like the, I went to the Highmark Stadium opening and while Josh Allen was doing Josh Allen things and I'm super excited for the money. I can feel your look. How did you get that wrong? If they've had all 30 point games except 120, I'm going to just, that's a play on. We got the point close enough. If you could ask a question, did they score 30 in every game? And the answer is no. And you say yes, then it's not a play. I literally have it in front of me. Still got it wrong. Golf does things in person with the accuracy of the ball that leave your mouth agape. He's been really impressive. Also, why isn't anyone considered what's the weird thing that's happened with Troy Aikman given the sliding ratings of the Manning cast and a huge emphasis on the main broadcast there? Is Peyton Manning going to get into this conversation? I know that they wanted him before and that's how the Manning cast was born. But the Manning cast as an, as a concept and as an audience, and they're already going to do some of the McAfee on field stuff to give you a secondary viewing experience. If I'm ESPN Disney, I drop another bag. I don't know what people want from the broadcast here. And I'm genuinely confused and a bad person to ask because I'm going to bring back the conversation that I was trying to start earlier in the show. If broadcasters are routinely among the most hated people anywhere in sports, and if even Joe Buck, can be someone that people hate, even though he's trying to play it down the middle because they think he's rooting against their team because people are irrational and emotional about their teams. Why does no one care that yesterday Jason Kelsey was very obviously making hurt sounds in the broadcast booth every time the Philadelphia Eagles made a mistake? This is why I'm not the right person to ask because Kelsey's going to be all over every form of your coverage. I was NFL Network's halftime show, I'll be even more delighted when they let her talk. I mean, would people be more up in arms about it if the Eagles won? I don't think anyone cared or noticed, and I'm wondering why. He's being celebrated. And I will say this is the first time I watch him with sound on. I get it. He's good. I think he's charismatic, and I think there are a lot of people who are charismatic. And I don't think Peyton Manning is necessarily in the broadcast booth the first I would think of when I think of charisma, although he can be funny. The next evolution of whatever this sounds like, with ESPN being owned partly by the NFL and them deciding over the next 10 years who's going to be talking about this stuff after Collinsworth, after we get out the other old white guys and put the new white guys in all of the positions to talk about the sport, I'm asking you because I don't legitimately know. Why does no one care that Kelsey's openly rooting in the press area, even though I don't care about it? I want to be clear about that. This stuff never bothers me. It bothers me, and I'm good with it. Is this a straw man? Because it did become a national conversation a couple of weeks ago. I have not— McAfee came out to his defense very, very strong. Because he said we, right? Yeah, very strong in his defense. Well, but this is an interesting evolution. I heard you, Mike, and I saw you talk to Awful Announcing about McAfee not actually being dangerous. He's just dangerous for Disney, which isn't the same thing. We were dangerous for Disney. That's not saying very much. You can't be too dangerous. I'm dangerous. The argument I made is you can't actually be dangerous if it's the first call that they always make. If he's across the vast majority of their daytime and evening programming, then it's more of an illusion of danger than actual danger because he's proven to be one of, if not their most trusted voice. I am the danger. You are the one who knocks? Can we put that on the poll? Is Zaslow the danger? I think that we should put t-shirts out with Zaslow's face on it that say, I am the danger. The thing that I wanted to point out— I want to point out, as it relates to all of what the future of football sounds like when it's talked about on ESPN and elsewhere, you guys do realize, right, that the age of the athlete as the broadcaster has not merely arrived, it's arrived with also, we're here to celebrate sports. We're here to celebrate the athlete. We love sports different than these journalists. Who spend a lot of time critiquing or criticizing or giving a voice that is anti-athlete, that whatever Stephen A. Smith does and is and was is now being replaced by we with our corporate sponsors and also owned by the NFL. We're going to celebrate the athlete and sports because sports should be about a celebration. That's many things. Dangerous is not one of them. I think there's been a little bit of a turnoff. I think there's been a little bit of a turn in media in regards to exactly that. I think there's an appetite for people who want more positive coverage in sports. It was the first thing I noticed about McAfee's show a few years ago, oh, they're really positive. They don't talk bad about anyone. They will prop up everyone at every chance they get. I'm like, that's interesting. I do think over the last couple of years there's become more of an appetite for positive coverage. Oh, it's not only different. I think I might argue. I think I might argue it is also good business. It's a zig compared to the zag. You're changing right in front of everybody and everyone does love this thing. So I'm not even arguing against it. I'm simply pointing out to people, hey, have you noticed this? Because it's happening and has happened and we're here. Let's go out to Tony's top five. Hey, Dano, really quick on the Lions point before we get to El Menú de Hoy. The Lions. Two seasons through five games that scored 174 points and 160 some odd points as their best two starts in history. Post Ben Johnson. Hey, a little nugget there for you. That is what we expect here from Tony's top five. No nuggets, though. It's croquetas. It's croquetas. No nuggets. That was before we get to El Menú. Cubans don't do nuggets. It just it just drove by. And I just you guys said it and it drove by over here and I was like, hey, hold up. The Lions actually better since Ben Johnson. Okay. Número cinco. El pastelito. The quick hit. Let's take a look through the NFC East real quick. Dallas lost to Jalen Daniels and Owen for Bucks team. Philly has blown back to back games where they've had a winning percentage of 97%. New York and Washington just played a game where the only loser was us. Let's just send the division already. It's over. Let's just let's just move past it. Let's just get to the next point. How is that? Not the worst division in football because it's not. It's not, but it should be because what we saw this weekend were two teams played each other and the entire division ended without a win is a problem. A punk one of the flag plant. Now that we're in election season, Sunday was a reminder that commies will never succeed in Washington, DC. Dan, this is America. Jack. Hey, no politics in the top five talking about Jaden Daniels, the commies will never succeed in Northwest stadium. It's just not going to happen. Lamparano the deep dive. The bears are the worst team in their own division. Ben Johnson said he wanted to break the scoring record this season. The bears right now would have to average 41 points per game. The next 12 games. games to break the Peyton Manning 2013 Broncos score. So they'd have to be the Lions. What are you shaking your head about? They're the best team in division. Worst team. They're the worst team in their own division. The Lions are better. The Vikings are better. The Packers are obviously better. This loss moves Ben Johnson to 2-7 in the NFC North with his only wins coming against J.J. McCarthy and Malik Willis. Zach, why are you shaking your head still? What are you saying? Because Tony said it wrong again. They're the best team in the NFC North. You don't know football. Let's move on. You definitely don't. The croqueta, the hot take. That's exactly why Mike Evans is an instant Hall of Famer. Forget the 1,000-yard seasons. Forget the touchdowns. The fact that he's had wars with Marshawn Lattimore and what he did to Trayvon Diggs, who, to be fair, if you're not really paying attention, you don't really know where Trayvon Diggs is. Plus, he's got the braids now. So you look over and he's like, yeah, who is this? Oh, yeah, that's right. It's Trayvon Diggs. My bad. My bad, bro. Tony, Richard Sherman said after the game that he wished he had come up with that as trash talk. That's how good that was. If Richard Sherman's giving you the seal of approval. It's great. When you look over, like, your name is what? Oh, okay. All right, keep it moving. All right, and here it is. El Cafecito, the definitive take of the day. Dan, I believe that this version of the 49ers is the best in the history of Kyle Shanahan in San Francisco. They have a legitimate top-tier offense, a top-tier defense, and a quarterback playing at an MVP level, and 5-0 with three wins over the Rams, Broncos, and Seahawks. They're the first team since the 1981 Broncos with three wins through five games versus the previous season's conference championship teams. The only one they're missing is the Patriots, but they would probably spank the Patriots, too. What we're seeing right now from Shanahan, he's completely in his bag. This is the best version of the 49ers that we've seen in 10 years. That is saying something. Thank you, Tony. I don't think that I agree with you, but thank you. You don't have to. That's why I'm first. Check on that guy working the coffee behind you. He has not moved. He's been working on something there for a good minute. The 49ers, what I was saying earlier, what are you laughing at, that he didn't have the dismount, and so he just went with a good minute? He wanted a really long time, and it eked out and peeped out as a good minute? Is that what you're laughing at? Just hung out there. I think he was laughing at what a funny point I made, but shame me. What were you laughing at? He didn't have a finish to the sentence. I finished it. Yeah, a good minute. I'm nailing it. I'm nailing it today. If a tree falls in the forest. Doza played yesterday. That's fun. The 49ers, though, this doesn't happen. You don't transition. He transitions. The 49ers have done an awful lot of winning with no real maximum winning, and so they are underappreciated as a franchise. Built by John Lynch, who went right to the front of the line where all these people are competing for this. They're championships of money, and all these Hall of Famers are competing for what football's money is in retirement. He has built something in San Francisco, Zaz, that doesn't look a lot like anything else, and if not for Patrick Mahomes, might actually be a champion. If for one throw by Garoppolo, one Super Bowl throw by Garoppolo, and Shanahan is viewed entirely differently, and so is that team. I know it well. I walk in like this. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Cuervo is the thing that turns hanging out into this is the night. It does. It's like that moment in a big game where everyone in the crowd just starts standing up, hooting and hooting, and then they're like, hollering, keep it Cuervo. Keep it Cuervo, baby.
