The Return of The Brandon Walker College Football Show + Josh Pate in Studio | The BFW Show 8.3.26

Brandon Walker debuts his new solo college football show, emphasizing his independence and freedom to speak his mind. He outlines seven key takes for the 2026 season. First, he defends Big 10 coach Kurt Signetti's criticism of the SEC, arguing the Big 10 is now the dominant conference and will remain so as programs like Michigan State and Wisconsin improve. Second, he agrees with Joe Klatt's seven national title contenders but adds Oklahoma, citing their stifling defense and Brent Venables' coaching ability. Third, he discusses coaches who have never won a title, backing Steve Sarkisian and Dan Lanning despite their playoff struggles. Fourth, he names James Franklin the most intriguing coach after his move to Virginia Tech, questioning whether his Penn State decline was his fault or the program's. Fifth, he criticizes fans for keeping "lists" and holding grudges against analysts who change opinions, using his own evolving view of Indiana as an example. Sixth, he identifies Penn State and Louisville as "schedule teams" likely to make the playoff without being true contenders. Seventh, he recommends betting on Ahmad Hardy for the Heisman at long odds. The show also features fan voicemails, including calls about Notre Dame, Alabama's Kalen DeBoer, and Dabo Swinney. Finally, Walker interviews Josh Pate, discussing their rivalry, show formats, and football opinions, with Pate admitting he was wrong about playoff expansion after Indiana's championship win.

God bless everybody I was with before, but I'm on my own. Here we are, Brandon Walker College football show, episode one, Quicks Kill the Intro. Quicks did the intro, I believe. Lukey Blutman is the producer, shout out to Lukey, shout out to Quicks for killing that intro. It's a pretty good one. Here's the, here's the run of show, not the run of show, here's this, I'm here. It's going to be the Brandon Walker College football show. It's a solo show, it's just me and only me and also Liam Blutman. Hello, Liam. Hi, Brandon. I'm so excited to be here. I'm so happy for you and me as the host is showing so happy. People, people don't understand. They're like, hey, Brandon, we're going to get tired of here and you, yeah, no shit. I get tired of hearing me, but I got the number one ball watcher in the sport right there. The number one ball watcher is right there. Number one ball, no, is right here. What do you think of my set? Pretty good set, right? The set is fantastic. What a great time to take advantage of the national and get some extra stuff. Yeah, I spent a whole lot of money, well, Barstool's been a whole lot of money with this. So anyway, before we get any further, I do want to shout out Casey Smith, been with her for seven years. She allowed me and let me do this. Thank you very much, Casey. I appreciate that. Been wanting to do it for a couple of years, just been wanting to try it on my own. I'm going to talk a lot of shit, I'm going to talk a lot of bullshit. Same shit I've always talked on an essay roughness, it's the same channel, but I will say if there's people visiting tonight that haven't watched, please like, please subscribe, please share. Please tell your friends that there's a new show in town. They don't have to watch the same boring bald-headed motherfuckers. They can watch somebody who lives this shit, who knows what he's doing, who knows what he's talking about. And it isn't scared to ruin a good-dap up opportunity. Isn't scared to say something that might offend some coaches or players or fans. I'm not calling out anybody in particular, I'm just saying I'm going to say some shit. And sometimes it's going to be right, sometimes it's going to be wrong, but I'm still going to say the shit. All right, here's how the run of show is going to go. We've got, that's a baseball, I don't need it. Here we go. We've got seven things. I got seven things I want to say tonight. That is seven things about the 2026 college football season. Then we give you a chance. We have voicemails. We have, I don't know. Lookie said he's going to pull out like eight, nine, ten, whatever, I think we got 600. The number is three, one, two, six, eight, five, eighteen, eighty, nine, file that away for later. Just in case, because we're going to be using it all season, got a lot of plans all season. And then at the end of the show, I sat down with Josh Payne. Now I've had a lot of people on my Twitter say, "Why are you sitting down with the enemy? Why are you sitting down with him? Why are you doing this? Why are you doing it?" He called you out. It's just two guys talking ball. And that's the whole fucking point. And I wanted to talk ball with him. I don't think he, he's not as good at talking ball as I am, but I'm trying to learn him. And at the end of the show, you will see he and I in a room for the very first time ever. That is the first interview we'll ever have. Now we're going to be Monday and Thursday, every Monday and Thursday throughout August. And the season starts, we'll add in the Saturday reaction show, which should be the big one. I do have the chat up right now, so I can read you guys. I got, let's see, hockey prophecy 226 or 926, I got the MFT and I got all these guys. Read E-Colors football. He says, "Payte greater than, greater than, greater than, suck my fucking dick." Anyway, hello, everyone, Jim Schuhl, anyway. The chat's up. I like to interact with my chat. I like to talk to my chat. I like to let the chat go back and forth with me and you will always be there. You're on my right. Bloodman? Bloodman? There we go. We got Lucky Bloodman on the controls. We got Liam Bloodman on the FaceTime here. So Liam, about to do seven things. You got the run of show, you're going to have a couple of opinions as well, right? Of course. Also, you have too much bloodman. No, I have the Bloodman. True. I have the Bloodman. A lot of people, anybody can have a Bloodman. I have, Vanna White had a Bloodman one time. I have Bloodman. What? All right, man. Listen, if anybody, I started a rumor, your dad dated Vanna White. That's a pretty good rumor to have. Start the show. I won't watch your brown water call too much, so start the show. I know that's a Stanley Cup back there, but it looks like a Mike Hing from the ceiling. The Stanley Cup banner behind you. All right, chat, you're there. We'll have voicemails in a minute. We're probably going to talk about 45 to maybe an hour before we get to the Josh Payton review, which I believe is about 90 minutes long. So buckle up. All right, I got seven things, seven things to talk about. Thing number one, Kurt Signetti. Kurt Signetti is the best coach in the country. Kurt Signetti is the defending national championship coach. Kurt Signetti is also a troll who knows his audience. Kurt Signetti went on Big 10 media days last week and basically called out the SEC, basically saying the Big 10 is the best. We pass excellence. The SEC is a bunch of winding, titty babies. Fine. I have no problem with any of this. I'll read it right now. We don't run a height machine up here in the Midwest. When we fall short, we don't cry a river and wind and complain. That's why we're the best. And then Kurt Signetti went on to say, you know, yada, yada, yada, yada. But that's basically what he said, Big 10 best SEC, winding titty babies. I want to break this down and three thoughts about this number one. He's right. The big 10 is currently the best conference. It just is. You went three straight national titles with three different teams. Now, if Ohio State had won three straight titles on their own, I don't think I believe that. But Michigan won a national title that they cheated to get. Ohio State won a national title and now Indiana won a national title with Oregon on deck to possibly win a national title this year. If you do that, you're the best league in the country. I'm sorry. It just happens. Secondly, the SEC was on top long enough. When they were on top, they talked mad amounts of shit, crazy shit, all the time. So we can't get mad when somebody else gets on top and they talk shit. He is full of it in one regard. Kurt Signetti says that you won't see any excuses coming from the big 10 when they lose. Bull fucking shit. When Ohio State lost a couple of years ago, nothing but excuses. And Michigan falls apart after a national title, nothing but excuses. When Kurt Signetti himself lost Ohio State in Indiana or Notre Dame, the first year, nothing but excuses. Why? Because winning is the same everywhere, whether it's the South or the North, losing is the same everywhere, whether it's the South or the North. Winning gets to get up on stage and boast and call out the losers. Losing means you're a crybaby bitch. And right now the SEC is looking up the big 10, but don't get it twisted. Winning and losing haven't changed, just the voices have changed, they've changed addresses. My third point about this is the most important. I think we're closer to the beginning of big 10 dominance than we are at the end of big 10 dominance. Here's what I mean. They want three straight national titles. I believe we're settling in for the long haul of the big 10 being on top of the sport unless the SEC makes some changes. When you look back at the SEC's dominance, what started with Florida in 2006, when they lost the game and they were able to get into the game against Ohio State and they killed them. Next year, LSU win. with two losses when's the national title. But for those first couple of years, it was Florida on top, then it was LSU and in 2008 and 2009, here comes Alabama. The first couple of years of that SEC run, it was just a couple of elite teams at the very, very top. By three or four years in, what happened was the rest of the SEC responded to that dominance. Alabama goes and gets Sabin, Auburn spends all the money and gets Cam Newton. All these teams, Georgia ends up going down the road that ends up with Kirby smart in 2016. All these teams got their shit together because the top was so strong. So what happened was a trickle down effect. All of a sudden, the rest of the SEC is strong as fuck right now. The Big 10 is top heavy. You've got Indiana, Oregon, Ohio State at the top of it. I think what's going to happen is some of these other teams are going to wake up and that Big 10 is going to be strong as fuck throughout the entire conference. It's been week at the bottom, guess what? Michigan State is going to wake up and get their shit right. They're too good of a historic program tonight. Wisconsin is going to get their shit right. Eventually, I was going to wise up and get a modern offense. Nebraska's probably getting their shit right at some point. Like, I think the Big 10 is about to go on a run that includes the entire conference, not just the ones at the top. And I hate, I hate saying it because I speak with Southern accent, but the truth is the truth. The SEC was on top for 20 years. I had no problem telling everybody about it. So I don't have a problem with the Big 10. Tell us about it. Liam thoughts. I completely agree. When you look at the Big 10. That's why he's here. Yep. Yep. I'm here to play. Okay. The, the meek roll on the Wub. Nonetheless, they kept making good higher after good higher after good higher. David bronze a great higher for Northwestern. You know, he's going to get things going. Eventually, you mentioned Michigan State. Pat Fitzgerald. You see a lot of Bob Chess and USC is going to get things right eventually. Mr. Consisting that Campbell. Thing number two. Thing number two is something that happened on the part of my take podcast last week. I don't know if you've ever seen part of my take. Very successful. Good guys over there. I especially like memes. So part of my take went to Big 10 media days and they interviewed several coaches. They interviewed several media personalities. Interview Joe clat. Well, the top voices in college football. Joe clat had an opinion. And I would like to take his opinion and add a little bit to it. Let's see what Joe clat's opinion was on part of my take last week. So let's break it down. Like how many teams right now do I think have like legitimate before seeing them because I think Ellis, you could jump into this. But I think there are seven teams that I'm like, yeah, they could absolutely win the national championship. So you've got not an order. You've got Georgia, Texas. You've got Indiana, Oregon, Ohio State. You've got Notre Dame. You've got Miami. I think those are the seven again, no particular order. Those are the seven that I'm like, okay, those those teams can absolutely win a national championship. All right. So I'm weird. You have Notre Dame rinks. So I don't want to hear big cap. Stop right there. You had seven teams and he is absolutely correct on all of them. Georgia, Texas. Yes. Yes. Ohio State, Indiana, Oregon. Yes. Yes. Notre Dame, Miami. Yes. Yes. Yes. All seven of those can win the national title. I would like to add one more. I think he's missing one. And it's a team I have never been that high on. It's a coach. I've never been that high on. But I think they belong. I think they have the recipe to belong in the national title conversation. And they can win a national championship this year. Blutman, who do you think that might be? I pretend for a second. You don't know who I'm about to say Texas tech with all that the way of money. I look at the way Indiana won last year. They had a Heisman trophy winning quarterback and they had very good receivers, very good running backs. But at the end of the day, they won the national title because their defense choked you out. They beat Ohio State because their defense choked them out. They took a high scoring offense, shut them down. They did that to play off to Alabama. They didn't play off to several teams. It was defense first. And then you dominate the game defensively and you give your offense long enough to use the playmakers and win the game. I think that fits one of these contenders this year. And that is the Oklahoma Sooners. And I have never been high on Brent Venables. I've never been high on the Oklahoma Sooners since he took over. But I look at this team. They sure do seem like they're built like a team that if you get in the playoff situation, I don't even go undefeated. But if they go 10 and two and get in the playoffs, a lot like Miami last year, Miami was 10 and two. They get in the playoffs. They're defensive line. Started wrecking shit. Started terrorizing quarterbacks. Same way with this team. They can't go undefeated. The schedule's tough. But if they go 10 and two and they get in a one game, a one-off scenario with people, that defense is going to be incredible. Plus, you give Brent Venables a month to get ready for the playoff. Very good defensive coach. Mathieu for the first six weeks of the season last year was great. I don't think they're that explosive on the outside. And then they got satanian. Their running backs aren't what I would consider Oklahoma great. But do they have enough to get to the playoff and then let the defense absolutely wreck shit? I think they do. I would add Oklahoma to Klats list. His seven were perfect. I would add Oklahoma. I wouldn't add Ole Miss. I think you don't get better results with worse coaching. I wouldn't add Alabama. I just don't think they play a style of football that's going to work long term in the SEC. I wouldn't add Texas tech. I just don't know. You would have had to make the quarterback position. You've had it upgraded way more than they upgraded. So I like all those teams. All those teams are good. Oklahoma is the only one he didn't say that I would add to that national title conversation. Blum, what do you think? I kind of even find another team to add. Oklahoma, I think they did a great job adding wider sewers with Trail Harris and Parker Livingstone. Livingstone is going to make life from a tier even easier. I think you touched on perfectly though. The game that they will have a star running back. That's tough. It's weird because I feel like Oklahoma, my whole life, had a star running back. And now for the last couple of years, they just haven't had that guy that scares the shit out of you. So it is what it is. I had Oklahoma to it. Dude sounds like he's dying. So I'm aware of that, but you know what? Well, but having mostly at 10, Yaket, Yaket 12, the voice is doing what the voice can do, man. We're going to have to find out a way to regulate the voice as we go forward. But I'm doing what I can do. Hopefully, hopefully the voice holds up. It's a lot. It's a lot. It's not real work. I don't work for a living like I have used to have to, but the voice kind of kind of takes a beating sometimes, especially this time of year. But it'll get up to speed. We'll be fine. Thing number three, what we do in this sport, what people do is they like to look at a person's track record, a coach's track record, a team's track record. And they like to think that will be that team for the entirety of history. They like to look at a team and say they've never won. They'll never break through that coaches never won. He'll never break through. The problem is you have to ignore a lot of recent precedent. If you look this year at teams who have never won it and say, well, they can't win it. Fold your arms. They can't win if they never won it. Ryan Day had never won it until he broke through and won it. He had, he was going up against the Michigan Stonewall. He was, you know, not winning. And then he won it. Kirby smart. Couldn't be now, but for years and years and years, then he breaks through. And he wins two of them. Indiana was the worst program in college football history. They break through last year. So the question, guys, the guys who haven't won it before the answer can't always be they're not going to win it. They never will. They don't have it in them. Here are the two guys I'm talking about. Sarkiesian at Texas, Dan landing at Oregon. Those are the two guys I feel like are facing the biggest questions. Can they win in the playoffs? I know landing won two games in the playoffs last year. Did they really not really JMU and Texas tech, not really. And when they finally get blunt and when they get beaten out of the playoffs, they get blown out. They got blown out by Ohio State a couple of years ago. They got blown out by Indiana last year. And Texas, Texas has been to the final four twice, but it just hasn't really, it feels like Sark should have won it by now. But I look at both these teams. They are loaded for 2026. Dan landing has the most loaded roster in the country. If he can't break through now, maybe we have that conversation later. But I think until further notice, this is the best team on paper. I, I think Dan landing can win the national title. I think Steve Sarkiesian can win the national title. And I hate when we just preemptively say never won it, never will win it. Folding arms, shut up. I think those are the biggest question guys this year. I would add Marcus Freeman, but I think he's kind of still young enough in his coaching career. It hasn't really developed. The questions haven't developed around him as thick as they have. Dan landing and Steve Sarkiesians, lemon thought, lemon thoughts. History is meant to be re ridden and answers. Our questions are meant to be answered. Bran Walker, people once told you you're never going to have kids. What did you do? What? What did you do? I have four questions. Exactly. Bran Walker answered all the questions. Why can't Lenin? Why can't Sark? Nobody ever said I wasn't going to have kids somewhere. Someone somewhere did. Who? You don't even know that. I haven't been around that long. I wasn't I wasn't running around with you and Mississippi back in the day. By the way, we have we have five ads. We have five advertised. Reason number one, we have five advertisements on this show because Bran Walker equals dollar bills. That's what my mom tells me every single night. Fireblood, I agree. That was a firepoint by blood. I would agree. Fireblood, that was good stuff. up. By the way, W's in the chat every time I make a good point. That's what I want. W's in the chat every time I make a good point. Uh, let's see, bowling branch, uh, you like sheet slim, you like sheets, you like robes, you like, you like sleeping comfortably, you like looking good while you do it. You like feeling good. I like all of these things. Uh, we have bowling branch. Have you noticed your sheet slipping off the corners lately or maybe your pillars just don't feel that supportive anymore? Most people actually keep their betting way longer than they should. It's slowly wears down and you don't realize how much it's affecting your sleep until you finally replace it. They make everything your bed needs, their signature organic cotton sheets, their pillows, their blankets, their comfortors are all designed to be breathable to be incredibly soft and to get better over time. Get 15% off your first order plus free shipping, bowlandbranch.com/ruff. B-O-L-L-A-N-D branch.com/ruff. That's what the copy said. Spelled up bowl and branch, bowl and but not branch. Anyway, take number four. Liam, I'm going to ask you a question because I actually didn't tell you the answer to this one. Coming into 2026, if I said one guy is the most intriguing coach in this country, who do you believe I would say? Matt Campbell. Matt Campbell is what you said. Okay. Close. It's damn close. I think the most intriguing coach coming in this year is James Franklin. James Franklin at Virginia Tech. All we heard while he was at Virginia Tech for our Penn State for a decade was he'll never beat Ohio State. He'll never beat Michigan. He never could quite get over that hump. But he was still very, very very damn good for a decade. He was still very close to the top for a decade. He made the final four, two years ago when Drew Aller threw a stupid pick against our name or they would have played for a national title. And then last year the entire thing falls apart. The James Franklin go from being good to being shitty overnight or did Penn State just run out of patience with a guy who was good for a decade? I don't know the answer to that question. All I know is Virginia Tech has been a sleeping program for a while. And the second James Franklin came available. Virginia Tech woke the fuck up. And I like Virginia Tech being being awake. I like Virginia Tech mattering. I like James Franklin being a place that might appreciate him. I think he's a very, very, very good coach. I think at his best, he's probably a top 15 coach in the country. And Virginia Tech is a team that's going to benefit from that next five years. And if you converse that with Matt Campbell's now at Penn State, I'll talk about them later. But that whole thing is interesting. Because if they don't go 11 and one or 10 and two, three or the next three, four or five years, it's a failure. So I think I think I think I think James Franklin is the most interesting coach in America for this year. Now I know there's Lane Kiffin out there, but a lot of his intrigue and a lot of his interest comes from canned Twitter stuff. And he's trying to be interesting. I know there's other coaches out there like dignity, but he's he's on top of the mountain right now. It can't be the most intriguing guy if you're on top of the mountain. Thoughts about that Liam. You are once again correct. It's hard to say the two guys that are question guys are the most intriguing when you're already talking about them so blatantly. Yeah, James Franklin, time to prove you're not a fraud brother. Take number five. We got seven takes and then we're getting to the the voicemail. And then we'll do your interview, which I was paying just a minute. So is my voice going out? Yeah. Yeah. Who cares? You know why? You know why? Because I care. Because I, because I try. Because I was on web carrying Dave Portenoise overrated ass this morning. I was carrying tea Bob. But you know, tea Bob shits all the time. And you know what? Never mind. We'll talk about that. He's shitting all the time. Take number five. And this is very specific to the fans that will watch this show and the fans that we have to make better in college football. I want to slow down. I want to take my time. And I want to really go through what this means. Don't have a list list list list. Yes, I said list. Here's what I mean about it. The other day we were on the yak. I don't know if you guys have ever seen it. We were on the yak, white boy Rick and Indiana fan comes in. Now a couple of years ago, like Nettie got to Indiana. They went 10 and 2 went to the playoff. And I looked at it and I said bullshit. Fake team. Easy schedule. Going to get blown out by Ohio State or Notre Dame, whatever they play. That's what happened. And that's what I said. That's what I felt. That's what I believe. That's what I watched. Last year coming in the season, my take on Indiana was they will be a better football team, but they'll have a worse record because the schedule is tougher. They were a better football team, but I was completely wrong on the other shit. I didn't, I didn't know how good Mendoza was going to be. And I didn't know how good saying that he truly was. I didn't know that he was truly the best coach in the country or the best staff in the country. And they made me like a fool about winning the national championship. But two years ago, I called them schedule wonders. Last year, I incorrectly said they might lose a couple more, but as soon as I saw them go to a organ, I said, nope, nope, nope, nope, best team in the country. White boy Rick comes on the show and he goes, you're off the list now. I hated you a couple of years ago. Now you're off the list. To which I say this, guys, coach football fans, you incredible bitches. Myself included. Stop having lists. Stop watching a guy who talks about football and if he says one inkling of an IOTA of something negative about your school, immediately stomping your feet and saying, I hate this guy. This guy sucks. His mother's a whore. Stupid. It's stupid. We all have opinions about college football. I'm going to be right a lot. I'm going to be wrong a lot. I'm going to see somebody like Indiana. I'm going to say they're this turns out there that I come around and I say they're that I'm not a savior when I say they're that. I'm not a terrible person when I say they're this stop having lists. That's how we end up with college football voices that say nothing. That's how we end up with college football voices that are scared of their own shadow. They're scared to go to media days that lived to doubt coaches up and will never, ever, ever, ever, ever offend them. That's how we get stuck in a world with boring ass people in this stupid ass sport. Roll the fuck up. Sometimes I'm right. Sometimes I'm wrong. Every now and then I'm going to say something good about your team. Every now and then I'm going to say something bad about your team. Don't be a bitch. Don't be a bitch. That is my tech. And why boy Rick was being a bitch. It's like Oklahoma. I have said for the last couple of years, Brent Venables. I don't know that he's got it in him. Now this year I look at the team. I look at the schedule. I look at the roster. I'm like, no, wait a minute. Wait a minute. This team could be pretty good. So there will be Oklahoma fans coming out saying, I hated you last year. I thought you were an asshole. Now you're okay. You whine a titty baby bitch. You're allowed to disagree with people. That is my take about that. Bloodman, I don't expect you to have a take about this. But what do you think about that? If we all had the same opinions, life would be pointless. I kind of won't that pull out. I like life would be pointless by Bloodman. I want that on a t-shirt. I want that. I want that. I want that on everything. Anyway, I got five ads to get through. So I got to do another one real quick. You know what the perk of doing this show is, by the way? One of our sales people came up to me today and she said, do you have the product? And I said, what? She said, well, you got to sell some Reese's. Do you have the product? And I said, no. And look how much product they gave me. Look how much Reese's I got the peanut butter cups, the old school peanut butter cups. That's what I go for. If I'm riding down the road, I go the gas station. I get some if I'm at the movie theater. I like to get some with my popcorn. I just love a Reese's peanut butter cup. I love them in every form. I know there's a lot of varieties out there. They got the PB and J. They got all kinds of varieties. Then all of them are good. Go get Reese's wherever you shop. They're the official candy partner of barstool sports. But I like this bad boy right here. I like the old school Reese's peanut butter cup. It's delicious. I love it. Fantastic. Again, the official candy partner of barstool sports. I don't know where to put it. I don't. Okay. It probably should be going to display behind me, but I don't want to hide Joe and my wires sign element. I don't want to hide my leech. I don't want to I don't. Okay. I love Reese's. I'm going to put it right there because I'm probably going to eat some in a minute. Take number six. Two more takes. And then we've got voice mails. And then we'll get to my interview with which aspect. Schedule teams. A couple of years ago, by the way, I'm going to call Indiana one more time, but a couple of years ago, we had since we got the 12 team playoff, what has developed in the 12 team playoff. is we have probably one or two teams each year that got there solely because of their schedule. Not because of the merit of their team, not because of how good they were, not because they had a chance to win the national title. They got there because their schedule was easy. And the over saturation of conferences, the conferences being so big, allows teams to sneak in good schedules. A couple of years ago, Indiana played, I think nine big 10 teams, and eight of them were in the back half of the conference. That's how bad it was. Last year, I think through 10 weeks, excuse me. I think through 10 weeks, Texas A&M had played the bottom eight teams in the SEC, the bottom seven teams in the SEC. A&M was a schedule team last year. Indiana was a schedule team a couple of years ago. Tennessee was a schedule team a couple of years ago, and they made the playoff, got killed by Ohio State. SMU two years ago was a schedule team. None of these teams were gonna have to win a national title. None of them were good enough to be in the playoff, but A&M had an easy ride last year. Got to the playoff immediately couldn't score a touchdown, which brings me to this. Who is it this year? Who is it that is going to be there because of their schedule? I have one answer. I have one answer. It's not Miami, easy schedule, but I think they'd be there anyway. That's how good they are. It's not Notre Dame. They have an easy schedule. I think they'd be there anyway, 'cause how good they are. Have you guys seen Penn State schedule? Have you guys seen who Penn State plays? They brought over Iowa State's coaching staff. They brought over Iowa State's quarterback. They brought over all of Iowa State, and they get to play nobody. They get to, in November, you're gonna look up, and you're gonna be like, ten and two Penn State? God damn, they're good. Are they, are they, are they have a schedule where they miss Ohio State? They miss Oregon, they miss Indiana. They miss Iowa. They miss all these teams. They're tough as two games at Washington. I wrote it down. At Washington, where the fuck is it? At Michigan, if you can call that a tough game, and they got USC at home. They have three tough games out of 12 teams, 12 games, three tough games, out of 12. I think we're gonna look up. I think Penn State in November, December will be in a playoff spot, and they will be there because of the schedule. The schedule teams still happen. That is my pick for a schedule team this year. Blutman, do you have a schedule team? Of course I have a schedule team, and I have of course agree with Penn State, who's plus 425 to make the playoff brand walker. I need you to look at this team's schedule. I'm about to tell you who's plus 550 to make it to playoff. The Louisville Cardinals. I love you. You go and you look at that schedule, and you tell me that ain't a schedule team when their two toughest games are over by September 19th. - I also think they're live in that opener against Ole Miss Man and Nashville. - Of course. - First half with dogs. - First game as the permanent head coach for Pete Golding. First game, I guess he was permanent head coach back then, but first game after an offseason for Pete Golding, they're in a neutral side in Nashville. Nashville and Louisville, sneaky close together. And I think they're really live. I looked at them. It is tough starting with the top 10 team, top 15 team. But after that, I don't think they play Miami. I don't think they play Clemson. Is that correct? - That's correct. Their second toughest game is SMU, which they have a whole-- - And that's early and it's a home, right? - Yes, yes, that's their third game. - Now my thing is, with Penn State, I call them a schedule team because I think with an average strength schedule, I don't know the Penn State this year would be good enough to go to the playoff. I think Louisville could sneak up and be good enough with an average schedule like, go, what? You see the distinction I'm making? - Yes, but are they good enough to win a playoff game? Do you think they are? I do not. - Okay, I like that distinction too. 'Cause A&M got there last year, bad schedule. Couldn't move the foot, but couldn't score a touchdown. They could still be playing, they wouldn't have scored a touchdown. Tennessee has a schedule season a couple of years ago. They get to Ohio State, they take the shirts off, get absolutely embarrassed in front of the national TV. So I get it, okay Louisville could get there, based on their schedule, not be ready to win a playoff game. I like them, I like them. Take number seven, I have a bet. I have a bet that I would like for you guys to consider. Of course it's on draft teams. The highest min trophy is given out every single year. Here goes my voice. Here goes my voice. Three, two, one, one, two, three. What the heck is bothering me? Okay, here's your bet. There's a player who I think is the best running back in the country, who is plus 10,000 to win the high's min trophy. He is shrouded in mystery. He might not play. He might not play in September, he might not play in October, he might not play in November, or he might play all 12 games. We don't know. He's been cleared medically, but he ain't practicing yet. So Ahmad Hardy at Missouri is the best running back in the country. I will not have any debate about this. He's the best running back. Kiwan Lacey is good. Mark Fletcher is good. There are good running backs. This guy is the best one. And he's playing for a team who's going to need him to do everything. He's plus 10,000 because of the incident that happened in the off season. He gets shot. We don't know. We don't know if he's going to play, but my thing is, when we get to November and December, if, if, if, if, if he had played, who's going to have a better story? Who's going to have a better story than Ahmad Hardy overcoming the odds? Who's going to have a better story of getting back on the field and being great? The Heisman is about football, and it's about stories. And he will have the best one. Last year Jacob Rodriguez almost got to the Heisman ceremony. I believe he finished fifth. Why? Great story. Good player. Great story. That's Ahmad Hardy this year. And $100 bet, when you've 10,000, it's worth a flyer. And I see some Florida fans, excuse me for a second. I got to drink some sweet tea. I see some blue gene shortwearing Florida fans saying, "Jaden Ball." No. Does it embarrass y'all to say that shit? Does it embarrass y'all to say, "Jaden Ball is the best." He's never been the best. He's not the best in Florida. You guys are just fucking embarrassing yourself. He's fine. He's good player. The best running back in the country? Shut the fuck up. He's the best quarterback in the country. Bill and Napier will still be there. Did you say you have a bet too? I did. I'm also just curious to play up on Ahmad Hardy here. How may wins do you think Missou would need for him to be a Heisman? So he'd have to do it. He'd have to do it the Travis Hunter way, right? He'd have to do it. To me, he doesn't have the story of playing both ways, obviously, but he would have story, story, story, story, story. So you'd have to have a couple of top guys fall. I Jeremiah Smith can't quite have as good a year as you think. Archimanding can't break through. You have to have the lack of a clear winner and then the story pushes him over the top. So at least eight, maybe? All right. You know, I love Ahmad Hardy. I gave him out last year, 201. What a ride that was for a little bit. What kind of ride was it? It was fun for a day. He got down at what, like, plus 4,000 for a week or two. Do you have a better ride? Yes, I do. I brought two. I'll go with one because the other one just the quarterback, Louisville, and that's just based off schedule. 65 to one, Drew Mestemaker. Nobody's going to have more fun watching Oklahoma State than I am this year. They've got a young, bright offensive mind at OC with Sean Brophy. They're just going to let this kid sling all the time. Camp Hawkins can move the ball at the backfield to Mestemaker. Zesty for Mestemaker. That's what we all are. Are too many people on that? I think people are starting to get on the wave. Are too many people excited about Drew Mestemaker to come to this level and immediately dominate like that? Perhaps, I guess there's only one way to find out, Prado. Yeah, well, they're going to play the game. There it is. Body armor, body armor. It is about time for you to be able to go here because we're going to do voicemails in a second. This episode is brought to you by Body Armor Flash IV. Flash IV is packed with electrolytes delivering faster, longer lasting hydration. Without any artificial dyes, flavors, or sweeteners, whether you're training, traveling, or just feeling the heat, Body Armor Flash IV. Work hard, hydrate hard with Body Armor Flash IV. Grab it at 7/11. It's my favorite drink that I use to go golf in with. I drink a couple, go out in the sun, and I'm fine. It gives me the electrolytes. I need you to get through the day. Body Armor Flash IV. Question. Is my voice going to make you through this show? Where are you going to say? Oh, that's me, I don't want to tell. Now, I guarantee you I have a text message right now from Katie Stats. She's seen this happen before. She will text me and tell me to go the store and buy me some lemon tea. I don't have time to go get lemon tea right now. I got to get through this, but I do have sweet tea right here. I have an entire and an entire jog of sweet tea. So we got we got Ebo and Katie on the honey tea and lemon tea hunt. Yeah, yeah, she makes me get lemon. Oh, it's a honey, it might be honey tea, it might not be lemon tea. It might be honey tea. Um, good. So now we reached a point in the show where I don't have to talk as much. I'll be able to say my voice because you idiots are going to talk and I see you chat. I see I'm going to get to you chat in a little bit. Um, Cole Baker says BFW how dare you say ball isn't the best running back in the country. Well, shave your pussy, Cole. You little bitch. Um, sorry. Sorry. I'm not going to sit here and hold your hand and say all of your players and coaches are the best in the country. And you guys are the best. Yay, team. Go down the fucking road for that. All right. I'm going to tell you the fucking truth. All right, three, one, two, six, eight, five, eighteen, eighty nine. You now have a chance. I don't know how many lookie pulled out. By the way, Loki, can I just say something? You're doing a pretty good job so far. The one thing I was nervous about was you being terrible. I don't think you're terrible. I think you're doing good. So shout out to Lukey, Blutman, shout out to Liam Blutman, three, one, two, six, eight, five, eighteen, eighty nine, Lukey, if you're ready. Give me a voice mail number one. Hello, Brandon. This is your mama. I just want to call and say congratulations on your show. I hope it does really well. And by the way, roll tag. I didn't like that at all. I did not like that at all. I don't know if you guys remember that, but my mom is an Alabama fan, my grandmother. She goes into cater Alabama when I was growing up. I went to Point Mallard and every Christmas, my grandmother, Bobby Jean Valentine, would buy me a brand new Alabama sweatshirt and every Christmas up until I was nine years old. I would put it on and I would wear it around. And then in about nine or ten years old, I looked around at Alabama fans and said, fuck this. I'm not choosing a life of winning 19 national titles. Give me pain. Give me heartache. Give me heartbreak. Is this the? Speaking of my mom calls and then my wife brought me brought me love. Here's some broke coat tea. I love you. You're doing great. So I do have a wife. And now I have my own honey tea right here. So shout out mama. Whatever. Roll time. You can do whatever you want to do voicemail number two. Hey, Brandon. You know, I think you do a really good job at what you do. I was born and start full. Now I'm an Ole Miss fan went to school. I don't miss after high school. And you know, I do appreciate some of the stuff you do. And sometimes you make me laugh. But overall, I just want to say, fuck you. I don't really know who's in charge of picking the voicemails. You have picked my mother. And now some sort of some sort of Ole Miss fan who is no doubt down at the Casi Esco Country Club in a talent county, bragging to his over mortgage friends that he, he totally got brain to walk her. You should have seen it, y'all. Fuck you. And good luck. It's over. Wayne's gone. It's over. You know it's over. I know it's over. It's over. T.D.U. voicemail number three. Listen here, Brandon. Fuckin' Walker. This is a gangcock fan. And I do not appreciate the way that you slander us 24/7. Mississippi State fucking sucks. We're gonna kick you all vast week three, week four, week five whenever the fuck it is, Brandon Walker. You keep Shane Beamer's name. Out of your mouth. I saw you're in big T's, little 40 videos. There's a talk whenever you see a better head coach. I mean, we didn't talk over fucking whoever the fuck that was, little bit risky. Whatever his name is. Brandon Walker, you're almost shitless, buddy. Go gangcock. We're gonna kick you all vast this year. Lenore Sellers is gonna be fucking nice. He's gonna be a first round pick. Dylan Stewart is gonna be a first round pick. Nick Harbor might sneak into the first round. Shane Beamer kept all those guys together. And look at her recruiting class better than yours. Better than yours, Brandon Walker. I don't know why you hate. I don't know why you hate, but I'd love to hear the fucking answer. I hate 'cause a whiny bitch is like this guy. This lesbian calls in. This cock fan calls in. Brandon, you correctly told me that my coach was gonna be terrible last year. And you told me that we were gonna win very many games, that we only won five. I'm such a bitch. Check the fuck up. Nobody wants to watch a national college football show with a South Carolina fan calling you and saying, "But what about us? What about you?" Voice mail number four. Brandon Walker, first of his name, King of the College football realm, protector of the South of the Dead, a day's board of barstable sports, the breaker of spreads, the father of hotcakes, the keeper of hypotheticals, the conqueror of the SEC, the true believer, the Mississippi state, the voice of college football gods, the one who knows ball, and the protector of Rome, Mrs. Chris calling for Madison, Wisconsin. What does Notre Dame have to do to reach all the expectations that have been put on it? It seems like it is championship or bust. However, in your undisputed opinion, what does Notre Dame have to do to meet expectations in the upcoming college football season? Thank you. Well, I mean, they got to go to the playoff and probably play for a national title. Number one, the quarterback has to be real. I think the quarterback's real. I think he's very good. But there's a chance. There's a chance. We fell in love with him because of what he did in the last 10 games last year against the weakest schedule we've ever seen in the history of college football. There's a chance. I don't think it's true, but there's a chance. CJ Carr is a little bit of a mirage. I'm going to go based on the fact I don't think he's a mirage. I think he's elite. And I don't really care that you lost two great running backs. You can lose running. Running backs are the most loosable thing you can have in college football. You got good weapons out there. You got a good quarterback. Maybe the best defense in the country. Probably the best player in the country. And Leonard Moore, like there's a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot of great to like about Notre Dame. But what do you have to do to live up to expectations? Well, it's a two or three game season for you. Don't go oh and two this time. Last year you had a two game season. You went oh and two last year missed the playoff and then you cried about it. I think you're winning. You're you're at least splitting those games this year. I think they're going to play off. I think they will live up to expectations, but you asked what we need to do to do it. You just got to win the games that matter. And unfortunately you cowards don't really play that many games that matter. Number five. Brandon, this is Rich from New York. Congrats. Real excited for the new show for my question. Is the worst off season moving college football? I'm not extending the board for seven years at 87 million. If they go even eight and four, fans will want his head. They'll be impossible to. They'll turn in the floor to state getting worse and worse. The wrong coach or donors are Texas M a and M level rich. They're able to pay a huge buyout like Jimbo or your thoughts. Now happy would you be if that happens? Oh, I'd be ecstatic of Alabama 184, but here's the thing. Don't believe any of that shit you just said. Don't believe any of it because Alabama is not going to let a buyout get in the way of firing an eight and four coach. That buyout could be 300. Because Julian but fill in a million dollar doesn't matter doesn't matter what the buyout is. If they go eight and four, Alabama fans will riot and they will find the money. Look what's happening in the LSU Louisiana is out of money. But LSU football ain't the governor's holding parties as mentioned say everybody come on over here and let's get a linebacker. Let's get an offensive tackle. That's what they're saying. Extensions aren't real in the SEC. Expectations are real in the SEC. If he goes eight and four, it won't matter where they got to get the money. They will get the money. They can't fall behind and fuck around let Auburn be good in year one of Polish. Fuck around and let these teams around Alabama get really good. Let Lane go get crazy down to LSU this year. Eight and four gets the bore fired. I don't care if the buyout is every bit of money in Alabama. They will do it. So don't worry about that extension. By the way, I don't know who makes this product. But shout out shout out what I don't my wife might have just given me cocaine tea. I don't know who knows. Feel good. Throat's better. Throat code. Look at that. My wife loves me. So anyway, I got an ad to do before I do a voicemail number. How many we got left one or two. Don't nobody answer that. I'll just sit here for left. There's four left. You said there were going to be seven. What do you mean two? Oh, because the mama thing you had to put the mama thing in there. Yeah, everybody loves bringing the mama. Yeah, well, I was poor until I was fucking 40. So blame that on somebody. It wasn't what my fault. She wants to say roll tide. Meanwhile, the dog was babysitting me when I was fucking six. Okay, all right, no, whatever, whatever, whatever, doesn't matter. NutriFull, if you see me, you see my incredible nice hair. What record does he get another earns him another year? Appreciate you. I thought you love your constant. Okay, and I appreciate you, but don't leave such long pauses in there because both times you pause, I thought I was going to have to answer you. But anyway, good, thank you very much. I don't think there's a number unless two and ten he's fired, three and nine maybe he gets fired, four and eight, five and seven. I don't know that you can ever fire Dabo, Swinging Clemson. I don't know that you can ever fire him because he is the reason those buildings still exist. He's the reason that football stadium still exists. He's the reason it mattered in the 21st century. He is the reason for all of it. He won two national titles. He beat Nick Saban at the height of Nick Saban. Nobody beat Nick Saban at the height of Nick Saban. Dabo did it twice. He did it twice. I think he should be Clemson royalty until the day he dies. I think you just got to eat whatever he gives you for until the day he's ready to quit or goes into the ground. Dabo's a made man. Clemson, you're Clemson. You are Clemson. You're stuck with Dabo. Sorry. That's just what it is. Now, voicemail number seven. Hey, Brandon. First time long time since Patrick from Oklahoma City. I've got to take that nobody wants to admit and that's that the Oklahoma sooner joining SEC actually saved the SEC. Before you showed up, the conference was turning into a joke retirement community. Alabama's dynasty is over. Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop. You don't know who the hell they are. Stop it. The second Oklahoma and Texas joined the SEC. The SEC stopped winning national titles. The second they lowered their standards and let Oklahoma into the SEC. The SEC's aura and mistake went the fuck away. The SEC became big 12 East because they let Oklahoma in. Whatever you just said is the dumbest shit I've ever heard in my life. Let me hear the rest of it. Hey, Brandon. Or the whole thing again. Or a third of it. Hey, Brandon, the hell they are. Florida who knows what they're doing? Auburn firing a coach every year and Texas A&M was spending billions of dollars of oil money just to go seven and five or eight and four every year. And the sooner show up and suddenly everyone remembers how to hate each other and I hate to give credit to the team down south for Texas joined. Now there's rivalries that matter without all you SEC media days would have been Nick Sabons ghosts and Lane Kiffin doing whatever the hell Lane Kiffin's doing. I'll hang up and listen. Thanks, Brandon. Please hang up. Please hang up and please only listen from now on. This is the problem that I have with Oklahoma fans. They think if you're not talking about Oklahoma, you're not worth listening to. They only think in Oklahoma. I promise you, nobody in SEC country even remembers the day Oklahoma joined the league. It is the biggest non factor that has ever, non factored, ever. Now I think they can be pretty good this year. I even picked them to possibly win the national title earlier. But Oklahoma, you got to understand you came from a place where you were everything and now you're a place where you are nothing and I know being nothing kind of sucks. Trust me. I know, but that's where you are. That's where you are. And until you become something again, you will always be nothing and you are the nothing the SEC has to live with. Also, I think that roster is loaded and they can win the national title this year. Next voicemail, please. Hey, Brandon. This is Dane from Ohio. I know you're a big seven boy and know you're all about that soft Eastern Conference. But I figured I'd ask you since you are the number one college football personality. What are your thoughts on Coach Woodingham saying you can't hate the buck eyes, like not even for one week? I mean, I do think he seems like a great man, great leader. But do you think he has what it takes to be the next head football coach at Michigan if you can't even have some hate in his heart for one singular week? Next, Brandon. Well, all I would do, all of the advice I would give to him, the advice I would give to the new Michigan coaches, just listen to one voicemail left by you because if he hears that whiny as shit again, he will hate everything about Ohio State. He will want to do everything he can to beat the shit out of Ohio State because if I had to listen to that whiny bullshit for one single solitary second, any longer, I was going to go to Ann Arbor. I was going to join up with Michigan. I was going to beat Ohio State. That shit was crybaby bullshit to the extreme. Jesus Christ. Where are your nuts sacks? Where are your testicles? My God. Brandon, I know you're representing the soft Eastern Conference. You fat ugly fuck. Hey, Brandon, first time no time because this show hasn't really existed yet. And I'm calling in to an imaginary phone line that I don't even know where it goes and there anything. But one simple question here today. How bad will Ivory Johnson be this season? All right, we move. What the fuck was that? Look, when I said, let's do voicemails. I said, let all the calls for all fans call in. If they want to win, good. If they want to do this, what should Ethan camps? That is the most work he has put in a day in his life in the last 13 years. He actually might email that call to Big Cat and say, look, boss, I'm doing it. We move. Do you have any more or was Ethan the last one? That was the last one. You're going to sit here and tell me your first day as producer. The last voicemail you gave me was from Ethan camps. I thought we would end on a high note. We move. Speaking of end on a high note, ending on a high note, Bluetooth. This episode is sponsored by Bluetooth. Guys, what do women want and needs? Stability, reliability, be her rock with Bluetooth. Can Kansas football ever get good for a year or two? Never for a very long. I mean, it's Kansas football. It's a state that doesn't really care about football. It's a state that doesn't produce that many players. So yeah, I think every now and then you'll have a good season, but no, not for the long run. Although, although, any energy is just one the fucking national title. So never say never, I guess. Iowa State helmet goes hard. Yeah, I bought these. I got this one at Jim and Steve's. This was a gift from Dillingham. And this was a gift from Joe McGuire for a web. That's another name helmet that I don't think it's supposed to have that face card on it. I think it's supposed to just be a regular helmet. How about these at the national, these penets? I don't know. I think it came together pretty good. Speaking of, if you ever want to send anything you can, I have a friend of the program. This right here. My dude, Jay Sternberger at Texas A&M. Sent this in. This is Jay Sternberger's award for first team all SEC tight end in 2018. He said to start the new show, I'd like to send you a gift. And he sent me his 2018 first team all SEC trophy there. So thank you very much. That is always gonna be displayed right there. So whatever, I think that's pretty cool to have. Thanks, Jayce. Seems like a good guy. A great player, hell of a player. So shout out family, man, family. So I'm trying to read the chats going very, very, very, very, very fast. I was trying to read some questions, but you guys are cooking. I don't know how many people are here. Plum, can you see how many people are here? A lot. It seems like a lot because the chat's going so fast. 8,000. 8,000 people watching me right now. My hometown's 8,000 people, my whole hometown's here. We, what, what was that noise? My, what, have you considered if this gets the 200k? Let me tell you something. Since I got to barstool, I've taken naked pictures with a, with a, in a, in a, in a bath tub of rose petals while a gay photographer straddled me. I have ingested things I never thought I'd ingest. I have a different, dovenin, dived it, different dove, dived. I have jumped into things. I never thought I'd jump into. I've done things. I've been naked on camera. I've worn thongs. I don't care. They can have me ride whatever for 200,000 views. As long as there's 200,000 the next time, next, next show, I will do it. I will do it. All right. I was going to do, I was going to do as many questions I can. The chat's going way too fast. I, I just chance some are all wins at Florida. Pretty good. I don't know that he wins this year. Although that first see, I would be shocked if there's six and a half come mid-October, but then it get rough. Can I let you win the SEC? Yeah. Sure. Yeah. Why not? I don't think the quarterback's good enough. But I think the coach is. And if you have the coach, he can, he can work with the quarterback. Wow. Kamario for Heisman. Thank you very much. Bluffman, who wins the Mountain West? Oh. North Dakota State. No. No. Yeah. Nathan Hayes is a baller. NDSC's a quarterback factory. You know, but it just won't matter. There's a quarterback out there that I'm very, very, very bullish on this year. Do you know who it is? No. I didn't know. You have some context clues here. Mountain West. Who do I like out in the Mountain West? Oh. You love UNOV. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Jackson Arnold. Jackson Arnold with Dan Mullin. If I was a quarterback, if I was a quarterback and I failed, I would find Dan Mullin as fast as I possibly could. All right. So we're going to end this part of the show. I'm going to step out right now because here's what we got. I view this as just a chance to talk ball. I view myself as the number one ball talker in the world. There's other guys out there that do it. There's other guys out there that are very successful, even more successful than me. But this wasn't about that. This was, I've seen this guy. We've bounced around. We've been, we've DMed a while. We texted a while. I'm friends with the guy. And I've always wanted to just sit down and talk ball. His name is Josh Pate. And for the next hour, hour and a half, I don't know exactly how long it is. Before the rest of the show, the show will be this interview with Josh Pate. Thank you for watching. We'll be back on Thursday night. I appreciate it. Chat. You can have fun. The show doesn't end here. I'm just turning it over to the interview I did a couple of days ago. Here's my interview with Josh Pate. Thank you, Blutman. All right. Here we go. It's the first interview ever on the Brandon Walker College football show. And I said, Brandon Burger King is delicious. But by God, the people crave McDonald. Sometimes the people want a nice big Mac. They want some chicken McNuggets. They want a hot apple pie. And is it healthy? I don't know. Is it good for you? I don't know. Does he even taste good? I don't know. And is McDonald's, unfortunately, and I'm giving you credit because that is an incredible line that you're McDonald's and I'm Burger King. Josh Pate. Josh Pate. Right here. Josh Pate. Josh Pate is in the building. It's Brandon Walker. Josh Pate. First time in history, you've ever been in the same room together. Hello, Josh. Feels big. Doesn't? Feels like a big day. For who? Well, at least for you. At the very least for you, this is a big day. Maybe for both of us. We'll see how the next 45 minutes to an hour and a half go. But I will say when I walked up to the building, you hugged me. Multiple people saw it. Pretty sure someone caught it on camera. And before words came out of your mouth, you physically embraced me. You know, like they did in the old country. What am I supposed to make of that? So we have, we've danced around each other for a long time, me being a staunch, very successful college football media days for media guy for years and years and years and you being the hot new flavor of the week for the last couple of days. When I saw you, I've known you for a while, so yeah, I was like, hey, I'm going to welcome him into my kingdom, Barstool, the house that Brandon Walker built. And you walked up and I said, hey, man, come on in, come on in, you're welcome. You didn't, you didn't appreciate that. No, I appreciate it. I also said, hey, it's my guy. Yeah, I appreciate it. You introduced me to other people out there. You know what I don't like? First of all, I can, I hug you whatever you now, you're making fun of it and everything and that special moment's gone forever. But Ben, Ben, Ben, Ben, Ben, Ben, Ben's broke his leg, Ben, Ben, Ben's broke his leg three weeks ago and has not moved an inch since we can't get him to work. We can't get him. He has to be led to the bathroom to pee. People have to hold it for him. They got to wipe him. They got to do everything. He's sending a crane in to to bathe him every night and he is useless. You show up. Ben, Ben, Ben's jumps out of his chair and he skips. He skips to you. Like, oh my God, Josh paid. Yeah, you don't have to hold that. The boomer will hold it up. So I walked in and Ben's, Ben's drug a peg leg all the way down the hallway yelling, "Let's talk about Pep Dines." Let's cry. We're going to talk to you about Pep Dines. We'll talk later. Will you go to me Nashville for Ole Miss, little bit, little talk later. Ben, Ben's is sitting there. All of a sudden it goes, "Hey, guys!" Dude, I don't know. And then Big T, Big T who, by the way, mortal enemy of men's all of a sudden, Big T who hasn't moved in ages, he just sits back there by himself. He jumps up like the Queen of England is in here. Which is a big deal considering for a brief time. He thought Peyton Manning was coming in today. I told him. He asked me. I told him I had a special guest today. He said, "Who?" I went, "Payton." He heard, "Payton." And you know, Big T and a C guy, for 30 minutes, Peyton Manning finally turns to me and goes, "You got Peyton Manning to come in here?" I said, "Mm-hmm. I got Josh Peyt." Pretty much just as big to Big T. Oh, we love each other. Yeah. I have gotten on his ass before. Can I cross around you? That's fine. Because I know that you don't cross. You're a clean guy, right? I keep it pretty clean. You're professional. Yeah. You're better than me. I want the kids to be welcome on my camp. I want fathers to ride around the South, maybe the Midwest and the West too, specifically the South. And not be afraid to turn the volume up a little bit. Do you think dads are afraid of me? They shouldn't be. Maybe they're afraid of letting their children be exposed to you. You're saying I should be a cleaner? No, I'm not going to tell you how to live your life. I've tried that before, and you ignore me entirely. I'm not telling you how to live your life. I'm listening to you. You've said things before, and I've been like, "Mm-hmm." That's about right. Yeah. Clearly successful, so I'm going to listen to what he says. Are you nervous? No. I just don't speak well. You're tripping over words. You're a professional speaker. This is the first Brandon Walker call us football show. This is a big fucking deal. First interview. No, this is the first show. Oh, yeah. So I got a few questions for you. And then before you ask these questions, this narrative that I copied you with the name, I had the Brandon Walker show before you had the Josh Payt show. And then you bailed on it. That was part of it. I had deal with sling or whatever. If things are successful, you don't bail on it. So it crashes and burns. And then you hop aboard with several people. And I'm asking you why now? Like why? Why? retread this thing now. Why would you think something that failed in the past is going to succeed now? Well, first of all, it didn't fail. Uh, it's ceased to be. It's not like mind-hunter where it was great, but they just can't make another season. This thing ceased to be for a reason. If I was physically capable, I'd beat the shit out of you right now, but I'm not. So here's the thing. 2022, we have the Brandon Walker College football show. I remember it's on sling. Then we stopped doing sling and we did YouTube, but what not a whole lot behind it and everything in 2023 We had the big move from from New York to Chicago. Yes, so like the cameras that you used for sling and the graphics you used for sling They wouldn't transfer to YouTube. We were all coming out to Chicago when we came out Chicago We launched mostly sports and I was just and I kept doing unnecessary. But plus I was with Casey Smith We did that for seven years. I love Casey. We had a great. We had a great time together But eventually and you do want me to come out and say it in front of everybody. Is that what you want me to say? Why not? If it's true, say it. You want me to say it? Yeah. I see what you've done and what you've built And I'm like, I want to get me some of that. See, you've got a bunch of notes over there. I've just got one I did want you to address this quote. I'm jealous of paid End quote. That's not that's not first of all that's taking way out of context. No, it's rich. Secondly note that No, that's what you wrote down. I said I believe it was only last on this air roughness I said what the reason I'm doing this I see what guys what you've built You don't go out on your own and betting on yourself and everything and I said, you know what brand of time to bet on yourself You're a better college football guy than Josh Payt. You know what you're talking about You're the best college football media person out of the country. Why don't you go build something? I'm jealous the paid has been able to build what he's built. That's what I said. But you're gonna do it better I plan to yes. How do you plan on measuring that? Well, it's probably not gonna be by viewers It's probably How good is my content? If you look past viewership, but yeah, I don't frankly care about sure Let's get down to breast tax. What are the important metrics? What are the KPIs am I am I putting am I Am I leading with my passion am I leading and am I am I true to myself and am I saying the opinions of the you know I'm I'm just brain and walker I'm not special. I got this big break when I was 40 years old But if I had never gotten the break and we're just sitting in Starkville In Starkville's Walmart right now in line. I would be talking Shit about SEC teams to the person in line behind. Can I use them advice? Yeah, sometimes you listen to it sometimes you don't Couple of sentences came out of your mouth there that I think should be the ethos for everything you do. Yeah, you said I'm just brand and walker. I'm not special right to me if that was your north star You'd be disappointed a lot less You'd set yourself up for a lot more realistic goal set realistic goal setting I'm not against goal setting and you should shoot for the moon You're probably going to land among the stars is what I'm saying. So just I'm just brand and walker I'm that should be the name in this show I'm just brand and walker I wouldn't be calling it a retread. I wouldn't be calling it a trip. No, you already did this I did it for an ad company for an ad by now. We're doing it for real and we're doing it out and we're doing it a bit We're putting everything behind You're building your own set I'm building my own set. Well, I'm having my own self set built at my house. All right. Good catch Let me ask you this was there a massive outcry when this show disappeared for it to come back Yeah, there was yeah, I think every year I get a lot of Brandon We kind of wish you were on your own Brandon and and I'll just I'll just say this Casey I was with for seven years tea pop. I was with for a year on that show Big Abba's with for two or three years. You know all these people. Yeah Last year we had four five blood men blood men who's gonna be with me in this one Last year and this is something you've probably saw from the beginning and you knew to avoid it I would start the show On a Saturday night passions are just pumping everything everything you've seen you want to get out You want to get your takes out and I would say welcome to a necessary reference boy Texas A&M look good against South Carolina day with that comeback Casey, what do you think? Well Casey speaks for 10 minutes and then T-bob speaks for 10 minutes and then big F speaks for 10 minutes They're all they all have the right But all of a sudden we're 40 minutes in and I haven't gotten what's inside of me out and if you don't you you you know this Whether you have a million viewers or one viewer if you don't get what's inside it here out What the fuck does it matter? Yeah, and none of it matters. So that's kind of I kind of just want to be able to go You know what scared me was scared me a long time ago when I was working in local local news and we did a show No one watched it 10 o'clock at night. I did it with a co-host now me the co-host got a long fine Yeah, but I realized that there were a couple of days where you're not seeing eye-to-eye There's just a couple of days where oh man don't love this energy and then I thought to myself you really want to Me I'm talking about me specifically because I'm kind of introverted like not a huge people person do I really want to Let my fate rest in the hands of one or multiple other people That on the best of days it's fine I get along with but on the worst of days and I realized really quick I'm never gonna thrive in that environment. So sick or swim like I'm gonna have to do it on my own Yeah, and in the in the business we're in like if you and I were doing a show together and you handed off to me first and I hit three great points Well, that's three points that you are they're off the board for you, right? Oh, and if it can't conversely if I make three good points there are only so many good points you're gonna make in a given show You talk about me specifically. Can you imagine if you had three bangers for instance the McDonald's Burger King comparison And then I go on I wrote for you and I just roll that off my tongue and you're looking at your piece paper There are three things written down and you already marked through one of them. I took your great point Yeah, but Josh let's be honest. We got we got cameras here If we had a scoreboard of great points throughout the season. I'm dog walking you there's no way you I'm I'm beating you by three touchdowns No way you believe if we had a scoreboard of best points of great points Brandon walkers that undefeated 12 and 0 going to play off number one seat. Where's great news? So right now it's I'm not gonna tell people when we recorded this But it's July yeah, it's late July early August it's late July early august ish They're gonna play a season. It's gonna start in about a month. Mm-hmm. Why don't we just do it? You want to keep score there? How do we determine what's a good point and what's not? I'll get Savannah to keep score That'll be fine And here's here's here's a sad part of the the matter yeah If you got your wife keep score you'd win if you got my wife to keep score you'd win My wife's a former Mississippi resident Although she tells me like the coastal Mississippians and the inland mississippians Mississ the coast the coast is his home state. Yeah, is there six counties down there that kind of break it off from their work Coast is a wonderful place. I never knew about it till I only knew i10 Like I driven i10, which is not the coast even though it's close and then she said I'm actually from south of i10 Which I didn't think existed four distinct areas and Mississippi. There's North Mississippi. Yep There's the Jackson area and all the all the the metro around the area There's a jacket right about that But it's Jackson and surrounded by Madison, Richland, Brandon, or Pearl They're south Mississippi which catches had his bird all the way over to the national world DeSoda or so so Mississippi. That's right. Yeah, and then there's the coast and I'm from north Mississippi I'm from 15 minutes outside of Starkville. Have you been down there lately? To Mississippi northern Mississippi. I've been I was in Starkville for a month about a for a week about a month ago that ice storm We had in the winter. Yeah, devastated northern Mississippi. Did it really the tree damage everywhere I'm I've been here for three whole years and I've already adopted the Your southerners can't handle a little ice ice storms nasty man. Yeah, I ran away from Nashville So this thing's going to work out Your dead set confident that you're going to outpoint me during the season This is an example that I'm trying to explain to you about unrealistic expectations, but you do you do you that's fine How often is this show going to air? So from through August Monday and Thursday Where are you Sunday Tuesday? What are you Sunday Tuesday Thursday? Sunday Tuesday Thursday. You're gonna go ahead to head I guess we will on Thursdays. Oh what time? six central time are you seven central? Yeah, just you want a double-team nice and neat 45 minutes get out of there You do 45? No, I'm telling you do it 45 Oh, keep it me tight. Yeah. Yeah, if the lukie I swear to God if the first time we do a Thursday, you're like rapid I'm gonna I'm gonna burn the building to the ground. We're gonna burn the whole building down um We're gonna get I got a lot of points written down about this. This is it and not even points. It's just that cursive I write in cursive. That's crazy. I didn't know that look. I've got a right. Let me see You mind if I see your note. Yeah, don't don't gene read one, but don't read all of them, but Does that say the Alabama thing? Yeah, okay, I won't read anymore. We're gonna read the Alabama thing. We're gonna talk about the Alabama thing Cuz you're way higher on Alabama than you have any right to be no way higher on calender board than you have any right? Oh, we'll go ahead. Yeah, so we do we maybe here three hours. That's fun. Are you guys anywhere to go? You're looking at you know, I'm closing on a house. You know what's happening in my personal life right now I'm closing on a house as we speak and even then I said guys. I know this is my entire future I hope to have children in this home But I gotta go meet with Brandon Walker and it's not gonna be on zoom. We're gonna do it in motion No, it's irrelevant completely irrelevant. I chose to be the bigger man who come up here You've driven through Nashville taking a picture of the skyline and they continue to drive. I came here for you I did that again a couple of weeks ago. I drove through the you remember when Alan Jackson has last concert And it rained and it was raining. I took a I didn't know what was in Nissan State. I took a picture of it And I started to text it to you and the bottom fell out. Yeah, it put him and immediately I had to say I can't be texting right now And then just forgot to send it to you But yeah, that's that's that's how I am and one more demand you made you did demand a home and home I want a home in home. Okay, all right, but you're gonna have to come to Nashville. I'm coming to the house You think I'm you think my southern ass ain't going to Nashville No, I don't think you're stopping in Nashville to see anyone you come through there all the time When I drive to the to the beach. Yeah, it's big of you by the way driving all the way to beach from here's no joke No, it's not 15 hours. That is I when we storm chasing this bring, we wind up up here a lot. Like I wound up in Davenport, Iowa, wound up South Side of Chicago, wound up in South Bend. Three separate times I had to drive back to Nashville after chasing all day. That's seven hours. - That's funny, 'cause what you just said is you've been in Chicago multiple times and haven't texted me one time. - On work. - That's, is that work or fun? - Your passion is your work. - Storm chasing. - Yeah. - Anybody paying you for Storm chasing? - People are paying the people I'm with. Hey, by the way, you just bookmarked that question a year from now, or people paying me for Storm chasing. - All right, all right. By the way, Illinois was the hotbed this year, huh? - The number one state of the country this year. - Throwing tornadoes out, like it wasn't nothing to it. - Fingham? - Yeah. - Community, I know you're very familiar with. - Yeah. - This is your new home state. - I love to eat F and ham. - Man, we saw, and he had three down there two months ago. - Yeah, I think that was the White Talk State tornado. Did you see that? White Talk State, even Deutsche, two of our guys. - Yeah, they were on it. That was the same day. - They chased it and had to stop because they came across from people that needed help. - That was the same day. - One more bullshit thing before we get to football. 'Cause I do wanna talk football. We can do all this funny paddy cake or whatever. Some people do prefer Burger Kingdom McDonald's. - You know what the idea of that. - They're called Flanbroil Whopper, hits the spot. - I'm not disagreeing with you. - Okay, all right. - You took it as an insult. I compare you to a multi-billion dollar restaurant chain. - Oh, also, you sit in there as the bus and boys are like, he's copying Josh Bate when they copied BMT for their whole life. It's crazy. - You know that there's a rebuttal to that. - Who's rebuttal? - Well, first off, success leaves clues. Like anybody who does anything like those guys have done. If you're gonna do anything remotely in that genre, in that galaxy, they're gonna be clues you pick up on. They're gonna be like guidance that you take from it. So I guarantee you, if they look around, like I remember when I was growing up, my dad used to listen to Rush Limbaugh all the time. Rush Limbaugh is like this massive conservative radio voice that changed all of talk radio. I hear that, I was five years old, so I didn't know what I was listening to. I hear that dude reflected in radio today. - You're right. - It is 2026. - You're right. - Hey, when you're right, you're right. I give you credit. You never give me credit. - I'm just, I'm living in Taylor's backyard right now, so I can't, I can't really, I can't say anything. I just, I think they do a really good job. Those are friends of mine. Good chemistry with those guys. Great chemistry. - Well, you know, chemistry. You know what they say about chemistry? - Find it. - I was hoping you knew. You want to talk football? - Yes, let's do it. - Do we have it, by the way? Do we have any ads or will we do the ads in the first part? - Is this show sold yet? - Oh yeah. - Dude, is this show sold? - There are companies. - Oh my god. - Putting. - Lining up. - Putting their wind in the sales. - Lining up. - Lining up. - That's the sale and there are companies putting their wind in the sales. - Lining up. And by the way, I don't want to tell you what's it. We're gonna have to do something later for the sponsors, but hopefully you haven't had a blue chew today yet. It's gonna get crazy up in here. Football. I do, when we talk about keeping score and everything, I do think there's been a take, a couple of years ago we clashed about. You were vehemently wrong about. - Really? - Yeah. You were very anti-playoff expansion from four to 12. And whether you think it was right or wrong, one of your main points was if you are tired of Ohio State and Georgia winning every year, guess what? It's gonna happen every single year from here on out because they're given a second and third chance to win. And now in the second year of the expanded cultural playoff, Indiana won the damn thing. I think you were wrong about that. - I was wrong with the way the sport evolved. - Yeah. - So like, when I made that argument, and you're talking about anywhere from 2017, 18, 19, 'cause there were rumors of it for a while. So I'm making that argument in the last vestiges of the last era. I didn't know, I didn't know like, I think college football grew into the 12 team playoff being proper. When the playoff was conceptualized to go to 12, our landscape did not fit 12. There were not 12 viable teams that I thought merited playoff inclusion when the thing was invented. I think it's like dumb, stupid luck for the people who engineered that playoff that college football sort of morphed into a sport where now I look at it and I say, 12's absolutely the right number. So the sport morphed. I wasn't wrong 'cause I want you to imagine this. Imagine NIO portal don't come along. It's the same way it always was, but we got a 12 team playoff. - Same teams acquiring the talent. - So go back to 2015, 16, 17, 18. I want you to look at the 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th best teams in the country. And I want you to imagine that playoff product. - So I think there are years, I think there are years where you could point to and be right. I think there are years you could point to and be wrong. I think like 2014, remember when Baylor and TCU got left at the door? There were also some very good teams outside of Baylor and TCU that were right outside of that thing. I think there are years. - But that's five and six. - Yeah, but I think they're-- - I'm asking you about 10, 11, 12. - I think there are years you can go to 10, 11, 12. I think there are years you can go to five and six. I think there are years if it really matters if you have the lack of a strong one or two. - That's correct. - Right now, this thing has flattened where one and two are no longer way above everybody. Back in the old days, one and two were so strengthened and fortified by having five stars in their three deep that they could be, it didn't matter who number five was, number 12 was, number 21 was, they were going to crush 'em because that's who they were. I do think the curve has been flattened and now the Georgia Ohio States can't get to the point where they're unbeatable, untouchable, untiable. - I agree. - And that's where I think we are. - Hold on. - Hold on. - No, no, no, no, no, keep going. - Well, 'cause I want to say, like me and Sart got into a little bit about this, this spring. 'Cause obviously they're mad, they got left out. They were nine and three, they got left out. - We pick up that name, you dropped. - Yeah, so we were hanging out and he thinks they should have gotten in last year. - And his reasoning, just like Notre Dame fans, their reasoning is we could have theoretically won the national title if we got in. We theoretically have a caliber of roster that can win the national title. So if your playoff format is such that it's leaving any team out that could have won the national title, it's wrong. It's stupidest logic. It's the dumbest logic. I'm not saying all the people who say it are dumb. I'm saying there may be smart people trafficking in dumb logic. 'Cause to me, if there's a team like Notre Dame that's a flawed but legitimate contender if they get in and they just get left out, that just means it's the perfect size. - I think it's healthy to have teams right on the periphery that could have won it. I think it's healthy to be able to squeeze down and then you can have a couple over here left. 'Cause if it fit perfectly, if you were like there, 12 teams can win this title and 12 teams only, it's boring. - Yeah. - It's boring. You gotta have 13, 14 and 15. Or two years ago when it was Alabama, South Carolina and Ole Miss clawing each other in the SEC there at the end where you have a better resume. We have a better resume and then none of them got in. - By the way, that playoff allegedly engineered to benefit the SEC. The first three outer all SEC teams, fascinating. - Yeah. So we got that going on. - I don't want that. - I just won that. - You don't want that? - No, no, no, no. You would count that as a win if I wasn't here to push back. - 'Cause you've been here for two years. - Page trafficking is stupidity again. Here's what he said, it's definitively wrong. You think it, you just don't have a vernacular. This is that advantage. - I have a vernacular. - Just because I talk as a common man, I'm not Mr. I'm gonna speak down to everybody with my vernacular. I have acumen. I have acumen. I have acumen. - You got acne. It's in the beard. - I got two of them. - So 1-0. - That wasn't one nothing. That was me pointing out where you were wrong for a couple of years and you try to give excuses. - But then me educating you how I became right. - Speaking of why you were wrong. You were wrong because Indiana comes along and shocks the world because they do take advantage of the new world that you just mentioned. And there are certain teams that are absolutely taking advantage of that. Indiana, Texas, tech, Ole Miss. Which that story's gonna be all about time this comes out. I do want to circle back, talk about suing players because I really got an issue with what's going on there. But I want to circle back because Indiana won the national title last year, meaning coming in, as we said here, they are coming in as the defending national champion. They are one of the worst programs in history and now he's still on top of the sport. Is Kurt Signetti and his entrance into the top layer of college football, the most fascinating thing you can remember in the sport. - It may be the greatest story we've ever had. - It might be the greatest, maybe in sports, Josh. Because it cannot be, you can't be fathomed how bad Indiana was for years. And that's just how it was. That is just how it was. When they hired a coach, they were like, "You coming to Indiana, you win a ball game, you're a hero." This guy walks in, says, "Google me." Says, "F Michigan, F.O. Highest State." Says, "F everybody." And within two years, they're the national champs at Indiana. - Yeah. - I think it's the most stunning story we will ever see in college football. - And when he came in, he didn't even come in and go overspend on a bunch of current P4 talent. He didn't do what Lane just did. - No. - Which there's no problem with that. - But he didn't do that. - No. - He just said, "Oh, I got some guys at JMU. They're gonna come with me." - He mixed his guys in with the right guys. - Yeah. - And don't, one of the things I hate from college football fans right now, when we put stuff out, you shouldn't read the comments. I read the comments every time. And they're like, "Oh, it's not that impressive. He's playing with 24 and 25 year olds." My answer to that is good for him. - True. - Good for him that he figured out the lane. He was gonna have to figure out. Not everybody can be Ohio State, Texas, Georgia, and just stand in the five-star line and say, "Here, give me another, give me another, give me another." He figured out, you know what? I was 18 and 19 year old, five stars are incredible, but if I got a 23 year old grown man who's hungry, that's a better mix when you talk about a 53 man roster, 105 man roster, whatever it is. - Well, I would ask this, was he operating under rules different than everyone else was operating under? - He was not. - Did everyone else have the same opportunity to construct the same kind of roster that Kurt Signetti did? Bottom line is, even after the roster was constructed. - Sure. We got to week one of the season and right before Ohio State kicked off or right before Texas kicked off, I said, whoa, oh, no, no, no, Ryan Day, Steve Sarkies and Dan Lanning, whoever. Would you guys like to trade your rosters within Indiana? They would have left. Not a one of them. There may be like one or two players that'd be interested in, but largely they would have left. So he just, he smoked everyone. He did. And which brings me to coming into this season, I don't know what to do with him. I look at Oregon, I look at the remarkable amount of talent on that roster. I look at Ohio State, the remarkable amount of talent. I think Texas is going to be held to deal with, but you still have to reason with that coach and that coaching staff in Bloomington with they've gone back to the quarterback store. They bought another one and I say ball. I don't mean it in a bad way, but they went and got another quarterback. They're plugging him in. They're plugging in March. They're plugging in all these guys and then they still got a lot from that defense. I don't know what to do with them. Do I vote them number one? I, I generally don't believe in your number one until somebody beat you. Yeah. Well, you don't defend a national title either, but you just said that a little while ago. They are the defending national champ. They're not defending anything. Who's taking it away from him? It's not a title belt. Fine. Fine. You beat me on a technicality on that one. That's not too nothing, by the way. That's not too nothing. That's a simple technicality. That's the rep pauses the match and he's like, you good? I'm like, yeah, I'm good. I'm good. He hit me in the nuts, but I'm fine. That's all that happened. Where was I? You're on tilt right now. I am. The machine and the alarms going off. Where was I? You were about to say, what do I do with Indiana? Do I rank them number one just because they proved people like us wrong so many times last year? You're certainly got me. Do you want the default to be, I'll believe in them until they fail instead of? Whatever you want in Indiana comes the last year. I was like, oh, and I was like, oh, and five picking against them last year. Okay. And then you picked them to lose it organized. Yeah. I'm about to drop something. Get ready to pick it up. Defensive coordinator Brian Haynes and I. Oh, yeah. We were, hey, you know what? I'm just going to keep it. Oh, yeah. That's actually a good idea. Yeah. I'm dead. Jesus, we're going to be so sinking. How many drowning in names in a minute? You want the story? Go ahead, please. We're getting on the elevator. He said, SIG doesn't really group text. That's a whole lot. However, when you bravely, my word, not his through on the clown nose and admitted your fault for picking against Indiana so much, he sent the video to the entire staff. So I didn't think I'd be welcome up there. And then he let me come up there and they turned away a lot of media in the spring and he let me come up there. And then he said, Josh Hoover, he said, we got what we need there. We got what we needed on him. So I quarterback, not a question for me. He kept both of those coordinators, all of the elements and values and principles, like all that stuff still there. Yeah. If you tell me, like, I'm not even looking at Mendoza because I don't think it's a one for one backfill, but they'll be good enough at quarterback. They lost a lot of good defensive talent, but they also weren't scraping by last year. It's not a much of one possession games. No. No, they they beat Oregon on the road by what 10 they won the big 10 championship game by three. And then they have the Penn State game. That was about it. But I don't for Penn State game is the best game of the year last year to me that they played the most important. I don't think people can understand how good the story is because we're in the middle of the story. I hope people will eventually rely. I mean, like if you ever made a movie about a college football story, it has to be this one. He was sitting there. I mean, you could Wikipedia Kurt Signati's career, like you could see the timeline. But he was talking about his career starting and he starts said, I can't remember where he was. He was at like rice in 1983 or 1984. He's a pit. They got terrible teams and he's just walking me through the timeline and you get all the way to 2000. Yeah. He's a decade and a half in. He said, man, we got Philip Rivers at NC State in 2000 and he looked terrible in spring. We thought we were screwed. And then all of a sudden it just works out. And even then, so he's a veteran in 2000 as a coach, he's a veteran and you're still a quarter century away from the point where he's going to go on to win his national title, which boggles my mind why people don't understand. The road hadn't even started really yet for him. People call Sark, the dude who can't do it. People call like Dan Lanning, they can't get it done. Kurt Signati, at that similar point in his life, Kurt Signati's like mid 60s now. But Lannings, what mid 40s or something like that? You're hitting on something that I've railed against. Every time you pick somebody to win a national title, win a game or whatever, they're like, when's the last time Texas won a national title? When's the last time? Well, you know, when's the last time Ryan Day won a national title? Tully did it. Tully did it. When's the last time Kirby? The Kirby had done it before he did it. You don't break through until you break through. Yeah. And the only way you break through is to be that you can't make a putt unless you're on the green and Dan Lanning, or we're gonna own the green all the time. All these, you're Sark. Sark's on the green. So people act like Sark and Texas have won nothing. They were in the final four and lost Ohio State. That was a one possession game with the ball at the 20-yard line two years ago. And I just, I think people overreact to certain things and state, fall in love with narratives. Nobody was more anti-Signati than me in that first year. I thought, what a, it's a good story that they're going to win 10 games. So what a fluke. What did they just hollow? Easiest schedule I've ever seen and the two times they played somebody they got destroyed. And then when he lost Ohio State 38-15 and the final time they got the ball, they were just trying to make it look better. I didn't like it. But I called him a coward. And I said, they play like cowards. And I still think there's some elements of that when it comes to their non-conference schedule going forward. But I said that the day they went to Oregon last year. I said, I said, there's no way this guy and this team could go on the road and beat George. No way. And they thumped him. And not only thumped him, like had the pick six against Mendoza and Oregon had every excuse and right to win that game. And Indiana just stared him right in the face and said, not us. He didn't blink. Not us. He didn't blink. And it was at that moment where I was like, oh, this guy. This guy is different. And then they just did what they did in the playoff and they're impressive. Now you, you read the Alabama thing, correct? I saw that on the paper, yeah. Yeah. So the Alabama thing is where you and I differ a lot as far as takes go. You, you ranked your top 10, for top whatever SEC coaches, you might have ranked all 16. I don't know. But you had to board second by service month and move to three and go on this. Go ahead. Yeah. Yeah. Go ahead. Continue. Continue. Good. Well, first of all, we haven't even had, we agreed on the last two years. I know we've only been one. What are you seeing that makes you think the board is the second best coach in the SEC better than somebody like Lane Kiffin who spent the last six years building something and winning at a place that just doesn't win? Kevin DePore walked into the SEC, was handed the keys to a Ferrari and immediately turned it into a super route back and parked it in the garage, but he didn't really inherit what you think you inherited. He did. No, we didn't. Just don't, don't tell me what, what Alabama fans tell me, Alabama fans, yes, say, oh, he lost 25 players to the transfer portal. You know, who else does that? Every coach, it ever gets hired anywhere. Difference. Same, same year. Signati walked in and went to the playoff in Indiana his first year. Difference being, all right. This is where context matters. Sure. DeBore. It's a very weird situation. Yeah. It was in that portal window. It's past that window. Yeah. So the window is closed, but the rule where if you get a new head coach, you can still hit the portal applies. So the exit door was all that existed. They couldn't take. You could only leave. So I actually thought it was a miracle. They kept the players. They kept, honestly, but they did lose a lot. They didn't have the opportunity to backfill in that particular cycle. The rules are different now. But just to rule me backfill, Josh, because I'm not saying I'm saying they didn't have the opportunity. So a program that's been built by Sabin over you can lose 20% of that program. It's still beat Vanderbilt. You can still be Florida State. Listen, and it's not the way they, it's not that they've lost these games. It's the way when they showed up after an offseason in Tallahassee last year and Florida State just thumbed them in the eye and spit on them and they didn't fight back. They just laid down the second half. When Indiana's beaten them 38-3 and they don't fight back, they just lay down. I know the quarterback was hurt in that one. And when Alabama is not a lay down team, they are a walk out. You get off the bus, look you in the eye and kick your ass team and there's nothing you do about it. They have now become a lay down team. And I don't think that's worthy of being the number two coach in the SEC. All right. Be very clear. What do you want? What are you asking me? I mean, answer you get. You've got, you've got to bore you. Did you pick Alabama to win something this year? I don't know if I haven't picked anything this year. Okay. Bores a number two coach in the SEC above guys like Sark, above guys like Lane who have built things where they are. I don't get it and I don't understand it. I know we have that run at Washington, but that was at Washington and that's fading fast. Fair. All right. I listed the criteria. There was a three year rolling blend of everything from on field results to relative talent acquisition. And then when it came down to measuring them against Sark, I put Kirby above him. But when it came down to measuring him and get Sark, they've had comparable recruiting classes. Yeah. People don't actually believe that, but they have. But more importantly, he's got a head to head against them. Like in the three year rolling window that I use, he's got a head to head against Sark with a lesser roster, by the way. He beats Sark. So I'm not saying there's miles difference, but I like to think a lot of people are projecting where they think that's about to go that when was it what the Washington win the playoff correct? That's what we're doing. Yeah. Okay. That's his past three years. They just came off a couple of top six recruiting classes. They're like people are sent, oh, but they've only got the number 40, whatever this year. Oh, they're only going to go eight and four this year. If that happens, I'll bake it in. I'm not predictive with that. Well, if that happens, they go eight and four this year, you're not going to have to worry about ranking them in your top SEC coaches next year because he won't be an SEC coach. You're crazy. If he goes eight and four, there's no way you're saying if Kaliniborgo's eight and four, there's no chance Alabama moves on. They're not moving them. They're not moving. And eight and four. They're not moving. I think I. That's insane. Is there wind totals eight and a half? No, no, you want to. Look, I'm going to make your argument. State of Alabama cares about wind totals. That's irrelevant to reality. No, no, no, no. That is reality. It is Alabama is a different world when it comes to football than everywhere else. You can't take over for saving to go eight and four in year three. You just can't do it. Here's what I'm saying. Alabama will burn. I know that sounds good. Yeah, I know that looks good on the graphic. Sure. Bottom line is if they go eight and four this year, no one who actually has decision making power at Alabama is going to say, yeah, we'll pay 70 million dollars to move on from this. Oh, by the way, part B, who are we going to go get? All I'm saying is if Greg burn, who's the athletic director, right, if Greg burn is the decision maker and wants to be the decision maker next year and they go eight and four, the state of Alabama is going to force him to do something. The state of Alabama, I only care about the people who could fit the bill. Yeah, are those people going to demand that he moves on. I just don't think there's a world where the Alabama nation puts up with eight and four. I'm, look, I'm going to say something else. Okay. Good. Eight and four while not up to the standard. And you could put a bunch of teams in this category. Eight and four is not a terrible year. Eight and four is not a disaster of a year. And there I know what standard you're talking about. You know, I might live in the rear view mirror standards, whatever. Man, like reality, I'd say this to Georgia, Georgia's less likely to go eight and four. But if they randomly get an eight and four thrown in there, yeah, it's not a disaster. It's just slightly like I think yesterday's 10 and two is today's eight and four. It's not Nick save. So 10 and two, you're missing the four team playoff every time the much every time and eight and four. Eight and four is where you are for sure, not going to the 12 team playoff, nine and three. A lot of nine threes are not getting in, but some nine and threes can get in. There's going to be a nine and three. And this year with as tight as it looks in the SEC, like I can see a world where nine and three gets possibly. Yeah. And, and so, so yeah, the eight and four is now the new 10 and two. I don't hate that. That's a pretty good take. But I just don't think Alabama is that fan base is mature enough to accept the new world where Oh, eight and four is actually pretty good. That's, it's just not reality in that state. And it won't be reality until they, until they get away from saving for a little while. It's still too fresh. What's going to be fresh for a look for a long time then? Like I mean, bear was fresh for a decade. Yeah. It was, it was, I believe it was 10 years between bear dying and gene stalling is winning a national title. He wins one in like 92. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, but even then he had a, yeah, I get what you're saying. But what I'm saying is do you agree with the logic of what I'm saying? Because you're talking about fans and you're talking about like warped process. That's the beautiful thing about the sport we cover. I, I, you, you sit down and you take a look at it logically. And I will come around and say in this world of college football and state of Alabama, logic need not apply. It's just not a world where it really matters that much. You can sit and look at something logically. And then the passions of college football will sweep down, take that logic and just throw it to the side. Yeah, I will say this one to one by the way, it's actually three or right now. Let's go back to your eight and four. Let's say they're eight and three. Yeah. And the iron bulls of the fourth loss. Uh-huh. And Goliath hangs an L on them in year one. Yeah. They play in Tuscaloosa this year. They do. Now that that's the kind of end of year result where all the logic could get thrown out the window. You still got to come up with $70 million though. You know, we do it. And, and these southern schools, man, you say you still got to come up with $70 million. They'll do it in a heartbeat. They'll do it. If the governor's got to get it about, they'll do it in a heartbeat. Look at what's happening in Louisiana. The governor is having balls in his mansion saying, Hey, hey, we got to get laying a linebacker. It, it, the logic need not apply when it comes to these passionate SEC fan bases. I am cooking right now, Luki. I'm cooking like whoppers, flame, broil, delicious, juicy whoppers. Uh-huh. Yeah. If you got me a Burger King sponsor, you, you don't understand the methodology. Dude, if you got I've been working for you for the better part of the last week. You have not. Yes, I have. You've been working against me. Um, have it your way. I got, I got a lot, I got a lot here. Uh, I want to, I'm going to do it either over here, right? As we go into the season. And I know you haven't been, you haven't been doing your show. You're going to pick it back up soon, right? By the time that, uh, this hits the air waves, I will have already cranked it back up. So you're probably used my show that is in the future as we speak to promote this appearance. I appreciate. Well, I was trying to do it as a surprise, though. How big a surprise is this going to be, though? I'm going to dog walk you the entire first hour. I'm going to be live and I'm going to be like, Hey, Josh Pate sucks. Don't listen to Josh Pate. And at the end of the hour, I'm going to be like, and here's my conversation with Josh Pate. Okay. That's a good surprise. Hope it doesn't leak. Stuff's been leaking lately. Hope it doesn't lead. Have you heard of my wife tell you? Yeah. I'm getting that looked at. It's, it's, it's like the nine, nine and a half colorless. Huh? It's colorless. So college football, I've got several takes to just run through stock. I'm going to give you a, this is either or this year and this year alone, you can buy one stock. You can buy stock in James Franklin at Virginia Tech or Matt Campbell at Penn State. Matt Campbell. Easy peasy. Yeah. Done. Yep. Change that question then. It was too easy for you because the schedule is easy. He brings the Iowa State roster. Let's say next three to five years, you're still staying with Campbell. Are you switching? Maybe I'm thinking about Franklin. I'm as high on Matt Campbell as anyone, including close members of his family. You love Matt Campbell. And I'm not down on James Franklin. Yeah. I just love Matt. I love Matt Campbell. I thought it was the dumbest, most backwards 52 some odd days of anyone's life to watch Penn State fall back swing blindfolded in a room when the Pinyata was right in front of their face. Yeah. Yeah. They did fall ass backwards into this thing. Could not believe it. There were two coaching searches. This past cycle where administration did everything they could do to screw it up. And that's Penn State in Auburn. And I think they went two for two in landing quality candidates. I thought Penn State knocked it out of the park. Yeah. That was the dude. I circled on day one. They didn't even know what park they were playing in them. And five years from now, when both of them are winning, those same administrators that everything they could just screwed up will be getting pads on the back and taking credit for it. I do think Franklin to Virginia Tech is like, if you could draw up a landing spot for him, because too often when somebody goes up to a Penn State, it doesn't, and it doesn't work. We like, like, oh, that guy was a losing loser the whole time who just loses. He is not a losing loser. He's a, he's a very good head coach. He never was that. He never was that he was also by the way, he was in the final four two years ago. Well, you know, what I got roasted for repeatedly is I kept on saying James Franklin was the most properly rated coach. I would say that. I said that two dozen times. I even said he was underrated, but everybody would look. He said, uh, uh, cause he can't beat Ohio State, but he's not rated above Ryan day. Yeah. Oh, no, no, look, look, he keeps losing big guys, but he's not rated above those coaches. He was like in the five to 10 range. You're talking to a moron who picked Penn State to win the national title last year. We all have things we regret from last year. I'm very last year was rough. Last year was the top 10 quarterbacks with you talk about club Nick and Drew Aller and I had lagway lagway. I had lagway number one in the SEC. It's great. Last year was just this weird year where nobody you thought would be good. What's good? Yeah, here's the worst part. So the bad faith logic crowd that just wants to hate you. Yeah. They show up in December and like last year's the easiest year in history to cherry pick bad predictions. Yeah. Like this guy thought Clemson was going to win the ACC. Right. Why should I listen to him? I'm like season number four by buddy. Did you etch your predictions and stone somewhere? Could I look at you predicting Clemson? Could I predict James Franklin getting fired a Brian Kelly? These coaches were out by Halloween. Yeah. There were preseason top. Yeah, it was crazy. Last year was a wild year. Um, so you're, you're, you're huge on Mac Campbell. Very, very. But let me, can I say something about James Frank? I don't know what to do with. Let me say something about Franklin. Yeah. Go ahead. Franklin. I think one of the perceptions that may not be totally true is Franklin got access to the same kind of money that Ohio State had and that like Michigan was playing with. And I think that was only true. Like right at the end for yeah. Now he's still like they should have done a lot more of that team last year. Yeah. So he got rattled and then went off the tracks pretty quickly. It's crazy, though, to then watch the whole juxtaposition of he goes to Virginia Tech and immediately the headline is, oh, someone just wrote a 75 million dollar check. Well, it is crazy when you look at a quality coach Franklin is and then you look at the four years of drowler and drowler just never really got better. They even when they would go getting like the big story last year was the three transfer receivers they had put them in there. And then you watch them play a game and you like, where did these receivers go? Where did like nothing? And then the last year was a bad job about James Frank. You should have clicked and it just didn't. It didn't. But I think I think getting knocked off the ladder and falling down and grabbing for a wrong and it being Virginia Tech is just perfect for him. I think that's a that's that's a school. I enjoy when they're good. I enjoy when that fan base is engaged. I enjoy when when we're hearing and talking about Virginia Tech football and I think we're headed back to it. Yeah. Do you know 20-year-old people have no idea what you're talking about? No idea whatsoever. Which you would you lose really quickly is you get a little bit older. You lose concept of what was big time in your youth and teen years. Yeah. If it hasn't been good for a while. Yeah. Think Virginia Tech, for example, it means nothing and you're you're not talking to about it means nothing to a seven-year-old. Yeah. It means nothing to a 20-year-old. It's grabbing the breath. And you're having a Nebraska. Same way. You're having to recruit kids and you're showing them the trophy case and they're like, did you import these? Wait, you're telling me Virginia Tech did all this stuff. Yeah. Yeah. How do you you're what 49 or 50? I'm younger than that. 48. I was just in my late 30s until last year. What? Yeah. On purpose. I absolutely on purpose. Yeah. Okay. All right. I don't really believe in ages a number. Maybe a concept. believe it's more mentality. I believe in ages the number of colonoscopes you have to get per year. I have to do that starting. Yeah, I got seven last year. Sounds like the last few were mainly. The only six were voluntary. Optional? Yeah, the only six were on purpose. This is a question about you. I'm jumping around the sheet. You let's just brass tacks right here. You've had a pretty big rise over the last couple of years. I'm not gassing you up. You have a pretty big right? What a success look for you look like for you in five years. Where do you think this thing's going? Probably the operations bigger. Yeah, probably there are more products under if you want to call it the umbrella. Yeah, the umbrella. But see, I am not someone who looks at this college football show I do or covering college football as some means to an end. But eventually, I want to get here or want to get there. Like, I always want you just want to do college football forever. And I want that to be the center of the universe. And if you grow and all of a sudden you got a company and you can do more things, you can hire more people. Yeah, we'll see. But like it's that's great. That's all well and good. But it's got a revolver on college football because I've watched people. I'm not this is me talking about live in my life. But I've watched other people cover this sport in the past, which is number one for me. Yeah. And I've watched it so obvious that it's like a stepping stone for me. And it's a means to an end. And I never wanted to be that. It's getting better. We've had a lot of sports writers in this in college football that you can tell they're utter disdain for being a college football writer. You can tell that they hate this is their lot in life. It's getting better. I do think some of those guys are getting either aging out or are finally the powers that be are seeing. We've really got, you know, this is big enough on its own. It doesn't have to be a stepping stone to the NFL doesn't have to be a stepping stone or all these things. Another thing. So you mentioned next five years, what I'd love to do is it really sucks what happens to a lot of really good print journalists right now. Some of them I don't like. There are many more. I don't like first of them. Well, okay. Take the few you like. Yeah. But you and I would both agree. We'd probably write the names down on a list and we would align on a lot. Yeah. Yeah. And you would think to yourself, there's no way this guy or this girl should be looking for a job right now. Yeah. There's no way this person should have been laid off multiple times like this person does really quality legitimate journalism which you and I have never claimed to do. Yeah. That person in my mind five years from now is a person that I could afford to pay whatever they want. Yeah. And like they they have no concern about the stupidity of the media industry. Yeah. Turning them up. Yeah. That's something I'd love to do. You know, I came from print journalism. I was a sports writer for 15 years and I just had I just I don't know. Once I found this and I was like, I think all the sports writers who are worth their salt need to find this. Man, I just it's just a world. People just don't read, man. Here's I'm I just you can't write a game story and be interesting about it because everybody watches every game. I just disagree. Yeah. Most people can't. Yeah. But I'm not looking for most people. No, at the top of the industry. There'll always be a world for Ross Dallinger. Always. Hey, I mean, I like Ross. I'm not I didn't pause calls. I disagree on. I'm using his name. Yeah. I'm using his name because I think he's one of the best. But I mean, I'm I'm just saying people always say, oh, no one reads anymore. Yeah. And it's the same people who say, oh, man, young people have no attention span anymore. Yeah. But then I go in my YouTube analytics. John. I look at the average retention rate for those for the 17 to 34. Yeah. They're watching like 25 minutes. Yeah. So what did I do? Did I find unicorns or are you painting with too broad a brush right now? Luke, he told me it's not possible to look up analytics. I said, give me my analytics. And he said, what is analytics? And I said, please look it up. And he will talk. I gotta talk to men's about peptides. I'll talk to you about analytics. Yeah. Yeah. Well, he's got a lot of similarities with men's himself. Okay. Relax. Relax. Time machine. Well, time machine trivia. This is fun. Oh, rip it before I ask that question. Will the world ever find out who you root for? I don't root for anybody. It's bad business. So that's and that is going to be if we're being, you know, I'm vulgar. I'm rough around the edges. But I don't know that I can never pretend to be unbiased. And I'm not saying you're pretending. I wouldn't have any problem having bias. I grew up a Georgia fan. I don't have no problem being that. Yeah. Like I think you can be more entertaining doing that if you're at the right way. Yeah. Like I said, next to Will Compton talking about Nebraska all the time, but he does it the right way. Yeah. There's no problem with that. But I grew up, I grew up in Columbus, Georgia. Yeah. And I grew up. So don't I mean, there's a lot of Georgia. I'm not saying there. Yeah, there are. That's the whole point. It's like this. Perfect. If you picked a pinpoint in the South. Oh, you're right. The middle of two fanbases. It's a triangle. Really. You got Georgia. You got Alabama. You got Auburn. But it's close enough to Florida, Florida state. There's a, for some reason, there's a lot of Clemson and South Carolina people there. So my point is I didn't grow up with with my mom or dad. Just beating into me. Yeah. Hey, hey, I went here. You need to root for them. And so like, there was a period where my aunt had convinced me to be an Auburn fan. Yeah. And then my dad likes Alabama. Mom's a huge Tennessee fan. I live in the state of Georgia. So like late high school years. Oh, the recipe got me. I was big on Georgia. Yeah. But there was never, there was never like sustainability on that. But then also I realized, um, when you get, when you start to talk in a microphone, yeah, even if you are the most hard core, if I was a hard core Florida fan in the urban years. Yeah. And then urban, it starts to go off the rails for him. You realize if you could ever divorce, it's hard to do. But if you ever divorce your personal feelings with business, like what you say on air, some of the best shows you'll ever have are the shows when everything goes wrong for Florida. And everything starts to happen. I know. I know that very well. What I wouldn't do is I wouldn't be a Florida fan. Go and stand on the sideline. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. And this is, and you're the number one pusher of this narrative. By the way, it's not a narrative. It is a narrative. It's not. I was at the Texas game. Me and Hardy. That's my boy. There's my name. Me and Hardy are at the Texas game. We're sitting in the in Zach Salman, he's the athletic directors. We're sitting in a sweet. You were in the athletic director suite with Hardy. Correct. Yeah. Keep going. We were, uh, we were in the athletic director suite. We, we, first of all, it was seven seven when we went up. So we were started, but none of that, not question time yet. We started out on the field. Then we went up. We ate. We had half time. And we're like, all right, we're going down. No matter what happens, we're going down in the field in second half. So yeah, we're going down the field in between us leaving. We go up 17. But we were always going to the field. My presence on the field did not erase a 17 point deficit. Go our death delete. Go ahead. First question was about access to the suite with the athletic director in the celebrity. How many other common men were doing that that day? A lot of, uh, Dr. Elman with it's uh, open door. The actual athletic director suite at Mississippi fits 13,000 people. Next question. You keep on speaking to definitive like I had nothing to do with this. Nothing. Knowing I can't prove a counterfactual Jeff Levy. The coach told me later you had nothing to do with this. Levy is too nice a guy. Agreed. He's a nice guy. He is a very, very nice guy. And in this case, I'm gonna hate that. I hope I never have to fire. Yeah. I really hope I never have to fire. By the way, you know, I'm not doing, I'm not doing this properly. Well, I see. No, no, no. Oh, I thought you're about to put Levy on the. No, no, no, no, no, the opposite. We might, we might have some things percolate down there. You're going to go to a bowl tomorrow, Taylor? Yeah, I know who he is. I've read the preview magazines. You're going to go to a bowl. Well, I told a bowl last year. But so what is the standard this year? Like we're cooking some things. Everyone speaks in these hypotheticals. Eight wins. Are you high? Eight wins. Eight and you know what? We got Oklahoma and Alabama coming in back to back. We're getting one of them. And I think Oklahoma is a sneaky national title pick, but we're getting one of them. So Texas comes back from four touchdowns or something like that down. It was, it was three. It was three. It's not only that. It'd be one thing if it happened like if the dagger to the heart happened at the opposite end of the stadium. The dude might as well have caught the ball and then landed in your lap. You're on the national broadcast. And you think, Oh, no, that doesn't mean anything. I had nothing to do with that. Josh, they went over time. I looked at hearty. I said, we got to get to the end of it. We got to be there when it happens. When it went, oh my god. Can you imagine the feeling when we went? We go down there. What are what are you doing? That is a soul sucking moment. No kidding, dude. And, and, and, and you know how time stands still. Time stands still. Sometimes they snap the ball. It's not hard. By the way, it's a backup quarterback in there. He drops back. I see the, it's a smash route towards me. And I see, I see him load up the throw it. And I'm like, Oh, God. And he throws it towards me. And the ref calls him out about. And I just, I, I knew he called it. I knew he called it. He may have been in. No, I know. I remember the replay. Yeah. I may have been in. I knew he called it. And I said he meant, but I was like, damn. And, of course, that was the first. We still have the ball to tie it. So that wasn't instant death. Instead, it was a slow. Whatever. Why am I talking about this? Let me ask you this. Yeah. Here's something I couldn't have done. It's an incredibly sore loser. Yeah. You got in the car afterwards. Dave was on the phone with you. Yeah. And you, you answered the phone. He's your boss. Yeah. You answered the phone. And you got recorded answering the phone. Yeah. That moment to me is a little bit beyond what I would have been willing to tolerate. So that's barstall sports. That's tough. And what you talked about earlier, our clips when we have to eat shit are way bigger than our clips when we went. I know I get all that. Yeah. I understand the humans. But you got to be willing to do it. If you're not willing to do it, you can't work here. What I'm saying is if I'd be willing to do a lot, I'd be willing to go and like do a three point contest and look stupid, all that stuff. I'd be willing to have my bad takes thrown in my face. I'm just saying everyone's got a limit. And your limit is way past my threshold. Because that moment right there, I would have just had to pie face the microphone and the camera. We're out like it gets real at that point for me. Say, say nothing else about me. I've got a limit. I've got a high limit. I can take it. Time machine. Are you ready? Let's do it. I bring a time machine into this. This is a quick one. This studio, me and you hop in it. I say, Josh, over the last 50 years of the time you've been in college football, we can go to one game right now. One game. One game and we're going to go. We're going to be standing right there. Where we going? Yeah, I would go to 2005. You think I'm going to Texas, USC. I'm not. I'm going to a USC game. USC Notre Dame push push. Okay. All right. Why over USC Texas? You're not going wrong with USC Texas. Obviously. Yeah. That's awesome. I think that's the peak of American college football, which I'm fine with. I'm totally fine with it. I got theories on that and the Hogan rock main event at WrestleMania 18, which we can get to in a second. We have got to country music. Yeah. Yeah. I want you to think about if you're a regular season guy, which I am, the regular season, the biggest moments in the regular season resonate in my mind more than the postseason moments. That's just the way my mind works. Yeah. I think that is the single greatest regular season, like all encompassing what I love about college football moment that I could ever remember. So I was younger, like I was a kid. You're talking stadium. You're talking a brand. You're talking real grass still. Yeah. And they grow it up really high for that week. Yeah. But I'm thinking to myself. It's a, it's the pre smartphone era. So like everybody's dialed. Yeah. It's Pete Carroll. It's Charlie Weiss at that point. It's Brady Quinn. It's Matt Liner. They're super star laden rosters both sides. And I just remember the hype. I remember the build to it. And I remember, I got chill months, right? Yeah. I remember standing on the side of my bed in my bedroom, because USC was safe if you lived in the South. And I remember thinking. They really were. I'm rooting for Notre Dame. That's crazy. This is for Texas. And you think to yourself after they go up right before the Jared catch, when they go up, USC is actually going to lose a game like holy crap. This is about to happen. And then they, they run that thing down the sideline. And then he gets pushed in. And you, I'm telling you, man, like I have not reacted that viscerally. Yeah. Against an outcome, but also been like so emotionally caught up in an outcome in my life as I was for that. And then I think to myself, there were people who were there. There were people standing on the field. If I could have been there, man, that would have, that would have made me a happy person. Same time machine picks us up. We leave that game. You can now put one coach and one coach into that time machine and bring into it to either modern time, bring the modern times to coach your room. Any coach in the history of this sport? Who you taking to bring into it right now, 2026 with us? Like any coach ever? Any coach ever? Oh, probably just Nick Sabin. I'm going to Spurrier. That's fine. I'm just trying to have fun. Are you really thinking he's the best of all time? I don't think he's the, I wasn't one best of all time. I was like, you know, I was just thinking I was thinking winning plus personality, plus fun, plus, plus everything. I just think Spurrier is a guy in my whole life. If I had to pick my, my top five people associated with college football, I think Spurrier is the coaching representative. Yeah. You know, there's a guy ironically at Florida right now. Yeah. If I were to take some role in some roles, not he's not like tight around the mouth right now. Yeah. Good job. Thanks. If I took him and dropped him in the 90s, where it was, people were just a lot looser. Yeah. Actually, I think some role probably is misplaced. Some roles got the kind of attitude that more fits in the 90s. Yeah. It just so happens that he's a head coach in 2026. Yeah. I could see him drop in the Tennessee Citrus Bowl line. I just don't think he cares. Yeah. I really don't think he cares. I did. Speaking of sports riders. Last week when when John Summer was like, if you, if you're phone rang, if you're one of my players in a ring, and they, you know, when the phone rang at SCC media days, he's like, if you're one of my players, I take you out of here right now. Like, here's, you're a grown man. You don't have to let him talk to you like that. I don't know who it was. I don't either. I think. Well, he was on web this reason we wake up bar still. I didn't talk to him personally. He was on wake up bar still. And he said what happened was a guy's, a guy had walked away from his computer and his phone and the alarm on the phone went off. You can't let that happen. It's awful. Let's take. Can you imagine the horror coming back? I would be embarrassed if I did it right now. Yeah. Yeah. Much, you know, what I, whatever. Same time machine. Same time machine. Just break mid thought and go to the next point. Same time machine. We're back in the time machine. We got Spurrier and Sabin. We got the the bush push. One broadcaster. You got one game tonight for everything. One broadcaster throughout the history of the world on this game. It's so easy. You're always Jackson. Of course, I'm going to Keith Jackson. I got I know that you're about to try and be controversial just to get something clipped out of this and the stupid. The answer is Keith Jackson. I don't let the SEC home or come out in me a lot. It doesn't matter. Keith Jackson did Ohio State Games on the brink of the early in tangerine. He did LA Memorial Coliseum. Keith Jackson. It's a voice of college football. Do I get an answer too? You can say something. He is the voice of college football. Since you've got Keith Jackson, there's something Uncle Verne touches in me. You'll never get me to hate on Uncle Verne and Gary at just on a Saturday afternoon to 30. It just it just feels right. You're adding Gary. I think if you got Uncle Verne, I don't like Gary. I don't like Gary on the surface. But if I hear Uncle Verne, I also hear Gary. I love Gary. Yeah. I had no problem with Gary. He name dropped Alabama too much, but whatever. Yeah, but Alabama folks thought he hated him. So like it was all that works out. All that always measures out. Vern Lunkwist is great. I have no problem. He's he's obviously the soundtrack more of my childhood. Yeah. Because I was on the like the tail end of Keith. Keith Jackson's last broadcast was that Rose Bowl, right? The USC Texas. He had a lot of last broadcast. It's true. He actually 98 SEC championship game was Tennessee Mississippi State. And I remember Mississippi State game was silver cowbell because it was his retirement tour. Yeah, it was his retirement tour, flare broadcasters. And then he is back. You know, he goes all the way to 2006. I do think he's gone for the corner. He's got it. That was his last. Do you ever ask why people don't talk like that anymore? It's just it's something lost in history. It's like Nicholas Cage was reading the Declaration of Independence and national treasure. And he goes people don't talk that way anymore. Yeah. And people don't talk the way Keith Jackson did anymore. And and I don't think and God bless him. But I don't think in 20 years we're going to say people don't talk like Chris Fowler anymore. See, I always wonder. He's fine. I don't know. There's nothing wrong with that. I'm saying I wonder about icons and legends in general. Yeah. If we're in an era where it's just not going to birth any of them. Taylor Swift as an icon. Taylor Swift will be remembered forever. But I'm asking in our world in the college football world, the way we talk about broadcasters. Yeah. I don't know what changed. You can do a whole like four hour dissertation on this. But I just, you could go Joe Tessitore. You go, you go, uh, Fowler, you go any of these guys. How do you get remembered that way? I think Herpes got a chance. Herpes treats grandfathered in though. Yeah. Herkes grandfathered in. He's still got a lot in front of him. No, no, no, but what I'm saying is he existed in the late 90s, early 2000s. Yeah. So he's grandfathered in. Who that's come along lately is going to be remembered icon. And it may just be that you're you're in the moment so you can't tell. And it'll work the same way in 2040 relative to 2026 that it always has. I guess everybody I'm going to say is somebody you'd say you say it was grandfathered in because because in 20 years, when he's gone, we'll be like, man, you remember Gus Johnson. No doubt. You remember Gus Johnson. You remember Herpes Street? You remember? Jim Nance will be that way. But the grandfather didn't you know what I think it is? I don't want to sound 80 years old. But like in the era where everybody's got an opinion on everything, you've seen everyone hate on everyone. No one ever saw anyone hate on Keith Jackson. Now, if you're of the same opinion I am and that is most people are seals. Yeah. And they just clap when they're told to clap. They don't think for themselves. So you see one person hate on Vernlunquist and it becomes 50 people and it becomes 500 million people. Probably a little stretch on the last metric. And it just doesn't become cool to say anybody in the modern age is an icon or will be an icon. What's your time look like? I'm good. You good? Yeah. Don't make sure we're out here about two. I mean, are we like allowed bathroom breaks and stuff like that? Please take a bathroom break. Okay, let's do it. Let's do it. Part two after this. He break over. That's behind the scenes. Josh Pate pees too. Saw a lot of friends on the way to and from the bathroom. You saw one friend. Saw PFT. But like more than just name drop an employee of this company. No, got you to do it. Sitting sitting in this company. Oh, dude. That's all PFT. You know who's out there right now. There's studio is on the other side of that wall right there. I couldn't believe it. Lane Kiffin and LSU. All right. Here's where I'm at on Lane Kiffin and LSU. And there are several teams that I'm still marinate known, manipulating in my mind. I believe Lane Kiffin to be a top five coach in this country. He is going to a place that will stop at nothing to win. They spent $40 million allegedly on the roster. Sustainable. Can they do it every year? Can they? No. Will they? Yes. Great answer. Yeah. But they will do it. I'm going to give you a point. Yeah. But, but, but, but anyway. Here's my thing on Lane Kiffin. I believe LSU would be a playoff roster him to be a playoff coach. I can't get there with the quarterback. Sam Levitt at Arizona State last year just wasn't very good. And he had an elite top-berry receiver in the country. Jordan Tyson was the elite two years ago at Jordan Tyson and camscat of him. They're going to tell you it was hurt. They're going to tell you that was injury. You don't buy that. I just I just look at though the SEC and I look at arch over there in Austin. I look at Trinidad Chambers up there in Oxford. They're going to be playing a lot of good quarterbacks. And are they going to go to war. They're going to go to war with Sam Levitt. If anybody can make Sam Levitt a very good quarterback, it is Lane Kiffin. But I want to I want to believe they're an SEC title threat and a national title threat. I'm having trouble getting there with Sam Levitt. What do you think about that? Yeah. All right. I've gone back and forth on LSU. So here's part one of the question. Is he just a good enough quarterback in general? Is all the help boxes check? Let's just assume the answer is yes. Part two to me is can they really rely on him to do at Tyson's and did last year, which was when despite not having a ground game at all. LSU was the only team in the league worst than Bama running the ball last year. So yeah, like it's insane. Oklahoma sucked running the ball last year. That's crazy. Three teams that should never struggle running the ball. So now now I would say unlike Alabama LSU made some hard personnel moves to try and rectify that. Whereas Bama's hoping to just like tweet things a little bit more and whatever. So if they can run the ball reasonably well. Yeah. And you're asking Sam Levitt to just just make good decisions. Man, keep the chains moving. Manage the offense. It's a lot better chance. If you're asking him to just go superstar mode and bail you out. It's not who he is. It shouldn't be the expectation. Yeah. And he shouldn't be called a bust when he can't do it. Yeah. If they plan to be in a 45 42 shoot out in Oxford in September, that's not the that's not the road map here. No. The road map is just is there's physically battering teams and he comes over the top of the couple of touchdowns. I noticed you skipped over the week one game. Clemson. Non issue. If it isn't issue, there's no point in talking about LSU and Lane Kiffin. Don't you think that is so like perfectly college football though? I do. I do. And I thought about this because dabbo and Clemson have been written off to a degree that you can never write off dabbo and Clemson. They they have been filed away. They have been picked off and filed away. And dabbo's not a file guy. You can't you can't throw him out. And I know we're we're sitting on now eight years since the last national title. But for all the for all the dreams and aspirations LSU has to to come out in week one and Clemson. It's not it's not the team I would want to have my debut again. I just don't know how that happens. I look at last year. Yeah. I'm talking about Clemson. I'm I look at last year. Everything was there. Everything I remember saying if I were Clemson fan, I wouldn't even pay attention to 2026 because it was going to drop off after 25. And I was I was saying to myself, this is what's so important to cash in this year. And they didn't cash in this year. And like the thought is, oh, we'll rebound this year. Oh, no, no, no, no. It's still the same. The only difference that I may have not been able to see coming is you did go into the portal. Tom Allen did convince him. I got to get some speed in the secondary and they did that. But it's still it's Chris Vizina, I guess. Yeah. Quarterback. It's a drop off in talent. They lost in F.O. Guys at all three levels of that defense. And then again, it's dabbo. Let's speedrun some teams here. Everything everything in my body looks at this. The I come to two teams when I come to to come up with a national title pick. It's Texas and it's Oregon. Oh, buddy. Neither have. Oh, buddy. There's no mention of Notre Dame. Neither have broken through. There's no mention of my preseason number one. We'll get to Notre Dame. That's fine. That's fine. Anytime, anytime you tell me you've got a national title, hopeful, and the number one reason, number one thing is their schedule. I immediately think, well, that's not a real national title. But I didn't say that. And no, you didn't. But if if if you were objectively looking at Notre Dame, we said, why are they going to win a national title? Well, the schedule. That's not a national title contender. At least not to the level of Oregon. You look at Oregon's roster. Oh my God. The amount of talent on that roster. You look at Texas's offense, bringing to Hollywood. Smothers, Relic Brown, Cam Coleman to pair with Archmaning, who is going to be that guy this year. Oh my God. And I don't care what their schedule is for Oregon and Texas. I think they're going to be there at the end. With Notre Dame, I look at them and I'm like, they'll definitely be in the playoff because they have no resistance. And that's not a team. To me, anyway, go back. Texas, Oregon are my two. Oregon, being the one example I want to ask about. Dan landing has never done it. Oregon has never done it. By it, you mean when a national title, what would be the difference in 2026 to make them finally be the one to raise that for exactly what we talked about about an hour ago, which is being high enough on the ladder to take another shot at the belt. That would basically be it. Now, I do think last year, it's going to get lost to time and people are just going to remember, man, they got boat raised by Indiana. I thought they got caught in like a hurricane of bad events last year, where both of their coordinators had taken new jobs. Yeah. I'm excuse making for them. I'm going to admit this is an excuse. But I also think there's some validity to it was real. Dan is still relatively speaking a young coach. And so he's going through some stuff for the first time. They managed it the best way they could. Now, Indiana probably beats him anyway. Yeah. But what I'm saying is they were ill prepared to even play the game. And that's going to be remembered is just no context. They got smoked. Now, a year before Ohio State did the same thing to him. Yeah. And there were not those circumstances around it. Now, I just think the one thing they got to really improve on is when they got up against elite talent, Indiana or anybody else, even it happened a little biggest Penn State defense, which talent was there. Dante Moore really didn't play that well against the elite talent. Yeah. But if you're telling me a quarterback coming back for his fourth year, if that's the thing he's got to improve on, if he's got everything else, I think he can make that leap. You're asking him to do the same thing. You're asking Orch Manning to do. That's it. That's all. Just stop me in the middle of what I was about to say, because I was about to say, by the way, same thing happening in Texas, same thing happening in Texas. And and and people will tell you, oh, Orch Manning wasn't good last year. And Orch Manning is only loved because of his name. By November, that dude was the truth. That dude was really good by the bowl game. That dude was good. He wasn't good in September. I think the bowl game was better than most of the playoff games. Yeah. The Texas Michigan bowl game last year felt like it was being played in 1997. You did. And you know what it felt like. And I hate the how reductive this is. You remember the Vince Young Rose Bowl game against the year before the Rose Bowl. Yeah. Well, it was against Michigan. And he goes off. I think they went 34, 33, or 35. And it was like someone pulled the pin on the grenade for the next year. Yeah. Yes. It was like somebody pulled the pin on the grenade. And I think the pins been pulled on the grenade again. And I think this Texas, they, they can't be bad. They can't fall short with that. The amount of offensive talent. They can. Do you think there's a world here? First round time. You think there's a world where people may be including us. Yeah. Do you think there's a world where people just go through all of July and all of August. And they, they try and run these thousand scenarios in their mind. And like arriving at Texas, winning the SEC requires them to like jump over all these mental hurdles. Yeah. They win these close games. And then Texas just goes and scorch earth on the entire SEC. I think, I think it's very possible. I think, I think people are in love with past champion. People are in love with if you have not won recently, they can't fathom a world where you win. Well, right now, the ones we have knocking on the door, the loudest for the ones who've never been inside the house. I agree. I think we could have a final four of guys who have never won a national time. Freeman. You get a Freeman. You could have start. You could have landing. Who would be our fourth? Well, you're the one that said four. So, so you're going to have to. But I'm saying Kiffin could be there. You could put debor there. You could put. Yeah. But Brent Vinnable's there. Point being Lincoln Riley. Whoever you have a number of guys out there with playoff capable rosters. Lincoln Riley is interesting. I am talking myself into them. Yeah. All right. Quarterback defense is Lincoln Riley's whole situation is interesting right now. I'm just telling you that's a unique situation at USC. There's, there's a, this is a year. There's not a monster sitting on top of this sport. I know any of you just want it went 15 and open. There's, there's not an Alabama 2010 roster or 2011 roster sitting on top of this sport. There's not Georgia 22 roster. There won't be. There won't be, right? So we come in. There are so many interesting possibilities. Oregon breaking through is interesting. Texas breaking through Notre Dame. He's a team. I don't know that I am going to be able to believe in. I would pick Notre Dame to win the SEC. I want you to, well, they don't play in the SEC. But I'm saying, I'm saying if they played in the SEC this year, because you, that's true. Yeah. You made a good point. You know how rarely I say that. And you said, Oh, people are just picking them cause of their schedule. Yeah. Some people are. Yeah. But see, here's the thing. If the, uh, who wants to see how, if the Seahawks came to college football this year and played Notre Dame schedule, that still be the Seahawks. So your schedule does not necessarily explain how good or not good a team. There's, although there's room for schedule debates. Notre Dame is a unit will be a unit this year, not to mention for all of the lack of ability their schedule may have to battle test them. They think they got screwed out of a playoff spot last year. They've got that taste in their mouth. All those dudes are back. They may have, get the Heisman favorite at quarterback right now, by the way, according to the odds market. Well, let's do this exercise. Uh, you don't have to pick your national title. I'm not going to pick my national champion here. But let's just realize, can't can this team win the national title? because I'm going to add a team we haven't talked about. Now, let me just ask for rule clarification. When you say can this team win the national title? Do you mean any team where there's a 1% chance they could win, you need to say yes, or is it need to be like a 10% chance? - I think it needs to be at least 10. It needs to be, can I, I want to tell you a team, a logo, a coach, and you say, yeah, I can visualize that. - For this year. - For this year. - Like, let's just, for example, I think Jon somewhere else is a great coach, and I think I can't, just can't say where the Florida Gators win in year one. - No. - But, I'll list them. - Notre Dame, you obviously think they can win the national title. - You don't think they can win the national title? - I would agree, I would agree. I'm not gonna pick 'em 'cause I would have Oregon and Texas above 'em, but yeah, I can see a world where that quarterback and that coach break through in the national title. - That defense, that ground game. - So let's be honest, Texas, Oregon, Georgia, Notre Dame. I think those are four, four week, Ohio State. - Indiana. - Indiana. - Six. - You put all them in there, right? - Yeah. - Miami. - Yes. - I can absolutely see Miami winning it. - I think I'm gonna throw Oklahoma in. - All right. - Do you wanna sell me on this? - And this is crazy, 'cause Oklahoma fans think I hate 'em. - Through the first six weeks. - What are you watching on your phone? - There is a live show streaming on your phone. - Oh, that's me. That's my TikTok. I play my highlights to get myself in the mood. You play your highlights to get yourself views. Now, see, you got me sidetracked again. And you know, I don't have that good of a brain. What was I talking about? - You were talking about Oklahoma winning it all this year. - Okay. Oklahoma fans think I hate 'em. Let's flash back. First six weeks of last year, who was the presumptive, Heisman favorite? - I had a ticket for John. - John, remember it well. - John Matier gets hurt around the bout the Texas game. They ended up losing a couple. But Brent Vennables has flipped that team from good offense, bad defense. To now they're elite defense. And I think they can get a good enough offense this year. They go 10 and 2. They sneak into the playoff. I don't think you're gonna wanna see that defense on the other side in a playoff game scenario. Last year, they were up 17, nothing on Alabama. And then they just let it slide off. They were winning a playoff game at home last year and fell apart. I think you take that. You take that moment. You take, you get 'em in the locker room and say boys, we got it in here. Don't ever let that shit happen again. - I don't have a problem with this. - And I think Oklahoma, with the quarterback, they got who's the receiver, Satania. Running back, I would like to see a little bit more explosiveness in home run. But it's good enough. And defensive line's gonna be elite. Defense's gonna be elite. And Vennables might be a breakthrough guy. - I'll never doubt defense with them. - You know, ironically, if you talk about the DNA, you suspect the Brent Vennables program would have. They were terrible running the ball last year. I just have a hard time seeing them fail to run the ball two years ago. - Why are these elite, like LSU, Alabama, why are we in a world where they can't run the football? - To me, I think it may be because, but this is so anecdotal, but there's a little bit more churn at offensive line. Like a lot of coaches say that. A lot of coaches say the veteran continuity that you used to have on offensive lines, not there anymore. - When I've been in the units anymore, we're building individual offensive lines. - Probably true. So we're at eight, I think. We're at eight, I'm gonna throw a couple more. LSU? - Yeah. - Yeah, I would agree. Ole Miss. - Yes, 'cause they've got the most dangerous player in the sport. So I'm gonna say no because I'm a generational hater. And my life wouldn't be the same if they won the national title. I'm not mad at that. So also, I don't think you lose a top five coach in the country and get better. I just don't think it's possible. - And it's play collar. And the backup play collar. Oh, yeah. Well, Lane was play collar up until last year, right? And then Charlie, watch Jr. took over it's play collar. - You know what I think is gonna happen for Ole Miss this year. - Yeah. - Even as I admit I'm high on them. - Sure. They say football seasons are long. And Pete essentially had to chug a Red Bull and go through a few games last year. And it may have seemed like forever in the moment. - Yeah, the incredible Hulk in the middle of a playoff. - Yes. You go, they play Louisville week one in Nashville. I agree. Louisville's a very big sleeper team of mine this year. You go through that. You got LSU two weeks later. You've gotta go to Gainesville immediately after that. There are three really loosable games in the first month. And that's the whole thing. By that point, it's only October. - Also, if you lose the LSU game, that's like two losses. - Look, I wonder where their mind's gonna be when or lose for that Florida game. - Yeah. - Like, there's my summer all man. Summer all's in a situation where they go, they play Auburn. - He's gonna all shucks his way into the game. - Their first conference game is on the road at Auburn. And that's week three, same time LSU's playing Ole Miss. So no one's gonna really watch it all that much. And then he comes home and they get whatever version of Ole Miss that is. That Ole Miss has to go down to the swamp and some are all could just be sitting there 4.05 and they're going, man, would you believe this? - Dude, we were sitting there on well this morning and beside his face, they showed the Florida schedule and I nudged him, I was like, wait a second. Look at me, six and a half. - Yeah. - Like, thank you. And then it gets dangerous, it gets bad. - Sure. - I think it's Texas Alabama, Oklahoma or something like Georgia Alabama, Oklahoma, Georgia Texas, Oklahoma. - I thought it was such a missed opportunity. So Jacksonville's under renovation, not the city. Maybe the city too, but the stadium. - Jacksonville city's been under renovation. - They could have done a two year home in home with Georgia, Florida and instead they're taking it to Mercedes-Benz Stadium and Tampa, I want to say. - It would look so great between the hedges one time and then this one. - We screw stuff up. - Such a layup. - We're so stupid. - We're so stupid. - Especially you. - Texas tech. - No. - Yeah, I agree. - I think it may look shockingly similar to last year. - But where are you? - You're the big 12 and get-- - I don't know that they're gonna roll. - Well, the big 12 would be better. - But let's just say they go through, they win the conference. - Yeah. - I still think you run into a brick wall because your quarterback position doesn't measure up. - Still a mile behind the other halves in the sport. - And they do Joey McGuire's great at clipping this stuff. I'm gonna play in their building. I mean, I've walked in their building and seen me picking Kansas to beat 'em a couple years. So I'm happy for 'em to prove me wrong 'cause I actually love the program. - Did you just name drop yourself on hype videos in the building yet? - Yeah, you name dropped yourself. I've been on hype videos. - Yeah. But usually me looking like a fucking fool. - Yeah. - Okay. - Are we done with the teams? Who do we miss? Do we miss anybody? - You left Alabama out, you left-- - Okay. - Do you miss Georgia? - Georgia and top first four. Alabama. - Man, it's really tough. I lean, I lean, no. There, here's my only problem. They may have like a superstar quarterback. - Yeah. - They just, it means a first-year player. He wouldn't be a first-year player. - I said a freshman, he'd be a wrestler, right? - A wrestler. - That's a freshman. - I don't even count, Redd. I don't say that anymore. I just say year-player. - Okay. - Those are the players. - Second year-player is what you're going with. - If that happens, there are gonna be holes on that team. I just wanna bake in in this safety net-type mentality that I have saying yes or no on this. I wanna bake in the possibility that Keel and Russell could just explode. And then you're watching 'em say, "That's a flawed team, but man, he's making up for a lot." - Yeah. But I think there's a world, you know what? I'm not gonna go back on what I said earlier, like eight and four gets inspired, but nine and three missing the playoff, but Russell being a star. - Yeah. - Amps him up for the next year. - That's why I'm starting. I was all rustling spring. I thought he was gonna be the guy. - Yeah. - I'm starting to maybe go a little bit more towards, maybe they start the season with Austin Mac. - You go Mac for a month and then it, general, it transitions. - Yep. - We got about 10 minutes here. I know your time's valuable. My time's more valuable. I'm gonna ask you a very blanket generic question. I don't want you to answer it. Is college football better or worse than 10 years from right now? And it's a lot of question. I just laid on your chest. Your meaty chest. - Is that all, is that like just no carbs or what? That's just working out. - I'm really deep in thought. Let me know. - I'm sorry. - What do you think, Luke, do you think that's just no carbs? I think it might be. I think it's it. I think it's implants. pep tads, pep tads. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, or talk to me about pep tads. I believe they were said, what's Orchardron want to talk to me about pep? That's fancy. I, I, I think, I think we will have gotten out of. We are maybe better. A lawless world that I just believe within 10 years, somebody's going to get a hold of it. It may be better. Yeah. It may end up. I'm not saying it's bad right now. I'm not a doing. No, it's not bad. It's not bad. I'm not a doing. Now, some people say it's the best it's ever been. Maybe I'll slightly disagree with that. But, but then again, your prism that you view the sport through maybe different than mine. So it comes down to personal preference. I'm saying we're never going back to pre portal pre NIO. Okay. So the sports never going to get unflattened. Now, what could happen is the SEC and the big 10. I don't know what's going to happen with this bill. But like, maybe they gobble up all the value properties. But see, someone said that to me the other day. They said, what did the SEC and the big 10 expand further? If we, if we were to like pull a chart down right now, and I could just draw this for you, let map that out for a second. What if it happens? Yeah. What if North Carolina, Florida State Virginia Tech or whatever go to the SEC? We're like Notre Dame and a bunch of went to the big 10. What if college football really did end up being a glorified version of NFC AFC? However, unlike the NFL, what you do at that point is you just redeviate things up again. Yeah. You put in dividers. You the Southwest. You go back to the region. You take the exact same IP. Yeah. Do I really care that the pack 10 in this new world is a subsidiary of the big 10? I couldn't care less. I just love that I don't have to watch USC play Rutgers in a new conference game anymore. I would love to see West Coast football mean something again. I think you did just do 20 years of evolution. I do think it's going to evolve back into itself. Where we will go regional again. I think though, The one mistake we've made, and there's never been more eyeballs, never been more dollars, okay? So by that metric, College football is doing as well. But we have, with the super conferences, we have lost a little, we've lost the regionality, and we do get lost in the, you can have a week schedule, as opposed to somebody in your same conference has the toughest schedule you've ever seen. - Yeah. - And we've lost the balance there, and the answer is, 10 team pods, 10 team regional conferences, that's where we're going to end up again. And I do wish we had, you know, I miss Jefferson pilot sports, I miss, I miss Vanderbilt and South Carolina. - 11, 21 A.M. kick-offs. - With the daves on, either the three daves. I miss that. And I don't think we'll ever go back to that again, but regionality is, NFL doesn't have regionality. Basically baseball doesn't have regionality. - And doesn't care about it. College sports had it, and I think we will eventually go back to it. - Yeah, I just think there's a way, for your worst fears to be realized, 'cause a lot of people's worst fears is the SEC and the big 10, gobbling up everything. I think there's a world where that could happen, and then things get just basically relabelled, the right way, and redistributed the right way. And yeah, at the end of the day, it's two mega powers running the sport, but from the business side, as long as you can pull that curtain down in front of the business side, and put what I want as a fan on stage, I don't care. - My worst fear is a heart attack. - Well, you know, some of us make different kinds of decisions, so we have to worry about different sorts of things. - I ate a lot of butter and sugar. - Throughout the day. - Oh, I'm not gonna take up any more of your time. I appreciate you. Thank you very much for that. - Oh, wait, are we done? - Well, it's almost two o'clock. - Oh, you have to go somewhere. - You said you had to be done two o'clock. - A driver will be out there whenever I-- - Don't, don't, don't big time. My driver's waiting for me too. - Yeah, I'm fine. But if you're, if you're done, if you're, if you're out of things to talk about, it's the greatest sport in the world. I mean, I came all the way up here to sit down with what I, you know, at the very least, would call an acquaintance, if not a not right, you're definitely not a peer, but a friend. I could go home. I could do that. You know, you know, couldn't damn well. You know, couldn't damn well that we got a time crunch here. You know, couldn't damn well. There's nothing, there's nothing I can do. You know what, 15 more minutes. - Five? - 15 more minutes. - I did the whole sheet. What do you want to talk about? What, what do you, Josh Payt, want to talk about? - I got to make sure we didn't close in the house. Hold on. - I, drivers here. - When I say, when I say, I hate you. - When I say, I hate you. - All right, let me talk to you about something. Let me talk to you about something. I don't know, it's my floor now. - All right. - The facade around Garth Brooks in Trisha Yearwood. - Go. - I don't think this is a hot take, but to the unwashed who don't know me, it would come off as a hot take. I think it is the facade that makes the least amount of sense to me. Garth Brooks. I'm not a Garth Brooks hater. Dude's got several songs I like. But that's a far cry. Me saying Garth Brooks has got several songs I like is a far cry for me saying the '90s made sense to me. Like that is a great live performer. I understand why he became a megastar. I don't view Garth Brooks that way. Like if you told me catalog for catalog, I'm gonna offer you Clint Black or Garth Brooks. From my personal taste, I'm taking Clint Black. I take Tracey Lawrence. - I think that's patently absurd. And I love Tracey Lawrence. I love Clint Black. Garth's going 25 deep of absolute bangers. And you're throwing Trisha Yearwood in there first. - Hold on a finish on Garth Brooks. Finish on Garth Brooks. They just happen to be married. This has nothing to do with him being married. - Sure. - You texted me a couple of weeks ago and you said, "You know what? I'm not sure Trisha Yearwood has the hits and has the songs people act like she has." You texted me that. - I said that I thought, I think my exact words were, we danced anyway by Deena Carter. - Yeah. - Is better than anything Trisha Yearwood ever did. - And that's you taking your hipster brain and saying something is underrated over here. Therefore, it trumps something over here. Over here, she's in love with the boy is a top 10 90s country song. - I don't doubt that it. - Yes. - Anyway, it's very good. - That's a fact, that's a chart five. - It's a very good song. - We danced it anyway. - That's a great song. - It's not a good song. - It's a great song. Trisha Yearwood has that. She got "Walk Away Joe." - She's got. - Donald Henley carried this song. - Estus Ann Oaks. - You know my thought about "Walk Away Joe." - Donald Henley did not carry "Walk Away Joe." - Donald Henley carried any song he was ever a part of. - Not. - Probably. - Yeah. - Just a fact. - For most of them, but not that. We're not "Walk Away Joe." - I think the best 90s female country song is maybe it was Memphis. - And I don't know. - Oh yeah, you floated this to me the other day. - I think that's. - It's not even Pam Tillis' best song. - No, no, don't stop. That's where you just try. Oh, I know more than you, drummer. Say, that's not Pam. Maybe it was Memphis' best song in the 90s by a woman. You tell me a better one. - Well, it little passed Little Rock by Liam Wilmac. And that's just off the top of my head. - Fuck. - That's a good song. - That's a really good song. - I like the full. - The full's good. - The full's good. - The full makes perfect sense why that one would be on your own. - You're a Chennai guy. - You're short list. I'm a Chennai guy, but I'm a Chennai guy in a different way than the "Come On Over" 1997 craze. - Yeah. - Although Rock, this country is a rare and the greatest song from that album. - You're not a who's bad, have your boots been on it? - I'm fine with that song. - Yeah. - I think if you're not in it for love. - Yeah. - It's like one of the great country songs of all time. I get fired up listening to that, but Chennai Twains on the Twister soundtrack. - Yeah. - So that's the kind of street cred you get from me that only a few people get. - How come in the new movie, the new Twisters movie they didn't kiss at the end? - That's a great question. - I thought I'm just dying for that kiss. Just kiss. - It's a great question. - Certainly, there's a little problem. - And when Haunt and Bill Paxson were covered in sewage mine at the end of the first twist, are they kissed? - Yeah. - They were just covered. - You know what I also didn't like. And you know I could go for a long time on this. I didn't love that there was no callbacks. There was no callback. And there was no reason for it. - There could have been like a picture of Dusty and somebody's car, there could have been, there could have been, the music they played could have been the same as anything. - Buddy, the last thing we saw in the original Twister was Bill and Joe making out on the ground. - Yeah. - Not knowing whether the family's alive or not, the horses may be dead. But why? - No, we saw the family walk out. - That's true, that's true. - Why not just make the next movie their children? - Yeah, yeah. - It's right there. - Yeah. - I didn't hate the Twister's movie that we just saw a couple, that came out last year. My biggest issue with it is there's a tornado outbreak going on and people just go to the rodeo. - Oh buddy, that's the same thing with the drive-in movie. - The drive-in movie. - There's just half the drive-in. They know there's an outbreak going on. When an outbreak comes in Oklahoma, people know. And they're like, well now wait a minute. Wait, I'm not going to the rodeo tonight. They're not even gonna have the rodeo tonight. - We're like, school out early today. - Right, there's no way I'm going to the rodeo. And these people are sitting at the rodeo and the wind starts picking up and they're like, you know, hold on a second. - Wait, wait, wait a second. That's not just, it's not just that it's the citizens. - Yeah. - It's that, see the people. - The wind pile is at a rodeo going. - That'll leave. - There's a tornado coming out of his face. And this storm chaser is like, well I wonder what this rodeo cowboys, like that, that bothered me. But I like you in 1996 when Twister came out. I saw it on the opening night. I left the theater at like 9.30. I saw the 7 o'clock. I went home, I got my friend's mat and can. I said, get in the car. (laughing) We got in the car, went to the midnight showing. - Yeah. - I was like, you've got to see, you're not going to believe what this Dodge Ram did, dude. You're not going to fucking believe what this Dodge Ram did. And it's been, and then at Blockbuster in my town, I talked them out of the Twister, the big. - The poster? - The poster and though, they'll cut out. - Yeah, I did the same thing with Tommy Tuberville back in the day. - Did you, you got a Tuberville? - I got a Tuberville cut out of him holding a coat. - That's weird. - Yeah, you're sure he's better. - Yeah, much better. Cuts your music, anything? - More. - I think Ella Langley's crushing it right now. - Jesus, she's incredible. - Ella Langley's on a whole different level. - She's incredible. - At the same time. Susan Texas is now in its 16th week of number one. - It's not a top three in my opinion for her. - Susan Texas is a good stone. - Yeah, I'm a Dandelion. - Dandelion's good, broken. I was just listening to this morning. - She's good. - She's damn good. - How is your favorite person currently out? - In country? - Yeah. - I think it's her. - I really think it's her. - The comb's just so good. - Look comb's just good, but look comb's is. - You a top guy? - Really, really good song on the Twister soundtrack, by the way. - Who do what now? - What did you do, Zach Top guy? - Not as familiar with his word. - You gotta get on Zach Top. - Yeah, that's the Zach Top on the way home. - Yeah, not as familiar. - Zach Bryan, I'm also not like really, really. - Yeah. - But it's only because I hadn't sampled all of his catalog. - Yeah. - I get stuck. I get years at a time stuck on playing. - Check out Top for me. - I've heard that. You're not the first person to say that. - You're not the first person to say that. - Yeah. - Can we end now? - 'Cause I got. - No. - Again, if you think that's the right thing to do, do it. - Don't do it. See, you're so passive aggressive with this shit. - What I'll probably do is hang around the office a little bit after you. - Can I say something? - Your show. - Congratulations on all of your tests. - I appreciate it. - Yeah, thank you, sir. - Thank you very much. - I hope the show does pretty well. That's it.

Sixth, he identifies Penn State and Louisville as "schedule teams" likely to make the playoff without being true contenders.
