June edition, "Roll Cup" on the Horizon Edition. This is the week folks. This is the week we have Beach Soccer in Atlantic City at Stockton University. Starting this weekend and you have World Cup matches in both New York, New Jersey, Stadium and Philadelphia Stadium. Yeah. It takes a lot to really ruin it. I can't believe New Jersey got on the name of that stadium. Like I thought for sure they would call it New York Stadium and not even think twice about it. Nope. They were, they honored our grade state with. Second building, no less. Second building, of course, even though we're the, it's in our state. But that's fine. Anyway, go see some World Cup Soccer or don't. I don't care. But you should go see Atlantic City FC. See it, I see. Go see Atlantic City FC. Because we're four or no knock on wood, playing well. Let's go. Come on Aces. Going for the title this year. I'm going to start you off with this question. Nick, originally to be used as, or to be included with a household edible item. What was the first toy ever advertised on television? Are you aware of the first toy ever advertised on television? I think I am. I didn't know that it, was that thing you just added that it came with food? It was originally meant to be paired with an edible, in edible. Yes, I do know this. In edible. I just said, edit it a bit. Because I know the origin of this. At the bowl item. And it was a very dangerous toy. Very dangerous toy. And I believe there might have been some potential lawsuit situations. Multiple. So they had to start making plastic. Yes. So they included the potatoes. Yes. Mr. Potato Head was, in fact, the first toy ever advertised on television. And it just was the kit of what the stuff into your own potato. But the problem is playing with a potato is not a good idea. Well, they were sharp. Yes. The items were literally like knives that go into the potato. Because you had to, so kids are stabbing each other. If you didn't have a potato, use your sister. That was one part of it. And the other thing is potatoes don't last well. So Mr. Potato Head for a week or two. All of a sudden is sprouting. Right. Yeah, that's also a problem. You'd have to reuse the. Yeah. That's right. So multiple problems with Mr. Potato Head. But yes, in fact, that was you. Where were you with Mr. Potato Head? I had one. I had one. I had one. I think fan of it. Not really. There was too much thought. Yeah, there's too much good stuff. I just get transformers came out of the kid. G.I. Joe, like I was not. Yeah. Mr. Potato Head was not a thing. It didn't do it. It was given to me. Right. Well, one birthday party. Yeah, it was for every kid probably. Our generation. I was just like, what is this? Let me see if you can get this for. What company slogan comes from a 1953 ad campaign that offered a different product for every day of the month? What company slogan came from a 1953 ad campaign that offered a different product for every day of the month? And I can tell by that smoldering look, you don't know this off the top of your head. Baskin Robbins is the first thing that comes to my mind because of the number of flavors. 31 flavors. That's why it's 31 flavors. Oh, the ad campaign was coming get a different flavor every day of the month. Well, there you go. There you go. 31 flavors. All right. I got it right. Baskin Robbins. Nicely done. All right. I'm a virgin of that. Right. But I assumed it had something to do with the days in the month and I know there ain't 32 of any time. I never knew it had anything to do with the 31 days of the month. No, that's fascinating. That is a good ad campaign. Could we name 10 of the 31 Baskin Robbins original flavors? Butterbacan. I don't know the original. Sure we can. Well, I'm saying it's a good line up. Potential good number 10. Maybe. We'll see. Nick, this was amazing. What comedy legend is the only person ever to win an Academy Award in Emmy and a Tony for writing? Okay. It's been done, obviously. We know the Egotts. I got a guy. Because when I think of the Tony Award, this is the first thing that comes to mind. I'd imagine he's won. Has he won an Academy Award for writing? All right. Now I'm having second thoughts because I'm not, uh, it's beloved. If I don't say him, then we're going to be made. Is it Mel Brooks? It is Mel Brooks. All right. I did not want to steer you in the wrong direction. What did he win the Academy Award for? Uh, God, I hope it was blazing saddles. I doubt it, but let's see. I mean, does that seem like an Academy Award winning movie to you, though? Okay. Mel Brooks, obviously the producers is the Tony. Best screenplay 1969. It's too early for Frankenstein, uh, young Frankenstein and blazing saddles. Oh my God. His 70 career nominated awards. Let's see. So 69. What Mel Brooks was it? The producers. Oh, so he got the Academy Award for that and the Tony for that. And he was nominated for Best Screenplay for young Frankenstein. Right. And Best Original Song for Blazing Saddles. Okay. And does it say the Emmy? Um, yes. I don't remember him doing scissors hour, get smart, mad about you. The comedians. Uh, history of the world, part two. He won, yeah, he won an Emmy for outstanding writing achievement in variety for Sid Seasers, uh, 1967. Then in 1997, he won an Emmy for, uh, writing, uh, mad about you. The TV show with Helen Hunt. I remember that show. I did know he was a part of it. Me neither. Three, three years. He won that in a row. Is that Paul Reisener on that? Yeah, Paul Reisener and Helen Hunt. I didn't know that he was part of that too. He's been nominated a ton of times. And then the Grammys, Best Musical Feeder album for the producers. And, uh, yeah. Well, that's the first thing they came to my mind was the producers, but I didn't realize he would have wanted a Academy Award for it back in '69. Yep. So there you go. All right. Um, 50/50. Children today. False. When surveyed by, uh, it was funny enough, uh, Lego did this survey. Yeah. But we're going to go with it. And then we eat the Lego instead of. Children today. Are they more likely to want to become an astronaut or a YouTuber? YouTuber. I mean, not even plus. Like, when you were a kid, wasn't astronauts like the most. Like a hundred to one YouTuber. What? This is too way too easy. What are you talking about? Astronaut. What the hell is that? We were kids. Wasn't it requires sacrifice and diet and education? Not dude. I want to play Minecraft. It's actually falling about. It's actually three to one. 11% gave the one to be astronauts 29% YouTubers. So yeah, this thing might work. What is it? It's a blow. But it's also got like a. - Does it have a reverse? - Yeah, I think it does. And that's what we have just been wrestling all day. - I found out the origins of that thing and I got to figure it out a way to ask it does a trivia question. I don't have it today, but in the future. All right, we into sports? - Oh yeah. - All right, Nick, who was the promoter of the famed rumble in the jungle and the thriller in Manila? - Don King? - Don King! - He's the answer. There's literally one boxing promoter anyone can name on the planet. - I mean, I don't remember him from back then. - No, but I mean, he goes, that's why he's so famous. - I mean, I remember him from the way back. - From the 80s, with Tyson. But that was his, he was already established at that point as the guy. So. - He's the guy. - He is the guy. - I don't think there was any, yeah, like a monopoly on boxing promotion. - I'm sure he did. - Who else promoted a fight worth anything? - He got those guys paid though. - Yes. - And by the time Tyson was around, I mean, those guys paid-- - He was the greatest, he said it. - Yeah. - And that hair, original troll doll. - Can't forget that, can't think of him without that hair. - Might forget it. - Let's see, I got a lot to choose from here. I'm gonna go with-- - I respect that, because that's just a signature look. And like-- - Oh, this is cool. What number one ranked tennis player from the 1990s was named for a number one ranked tennis player from the 80s. - Oh, it's gotta be Hinges. - Yeah, Hinges and Lavertellova. - Yeah. - Martina Martina. - Never occurred to me that Martina Hinges was named after Martina DeVaradolova. She was named after her. - No, I would have thought that was too close in terms of when one came and the other, like she was-- - Yeah, so her parents were tennis players. And they were from the same area of, the Czechoslovakian. - Something. - She's not Yugoslavian. - I don't know, she's her-- - Well, Martina Hinges is Swiss, but she was born in, I think, whatever it is, Czech Republic or Czechoslovakia. - Wherever Martina, wherever Martina-- - Yeah, Czechoslovakia. - Right, so wherever Martina DeVaradolova was from-- - So were her parents. - God, she's right. - They moved to Switzerland, so Martina Hinges is Swiss. - Are we older or younger than Martina Hinges? - We're older. - We are. - I knew that. - She still looks good. - Oh, yeah. Oh my gosh, she married. - Yeah, she's had a-- Why do I know her? - Why am I looking at that? - You know what I mean? You know what I mean? It was so funny. I know her whole history. She's been engaged like three times with broken engagements. And she finally, I think, in her 40s, had a kid. - Had any time then, huh? - Yeah, yeah. I mean, she hasn't even been with this guy for that long, but at least it seems like something stuck. But she's had multiple like failed in game. - Married sports physician. Harold Lehman in Switzerland in a secret ceremony. - And what you-- - Hinges and Lehman have been in a relationship for almost a year before they got married. They were both 37. Her 38th birthday, Hinges announced via social media or first pregnancy. She gave birth to a daughter Leah in 2019. The couple divorced in 2022. - Okay. - So she is not. - So it didn't make it-- - It did not work. - I guess I haven't looked since 2022 or whatever. - They had COVID. - They had COVID. They got-- - Yeah. - There was no more touring. - Yeah, but she does seem like she's had a hard time keeping a man in her life. - That's the bummer. - That's the bummer. - All right, your turn. - She needs a day to head to the splire. - She did. - She tried that. - Oh, that didn't work either. - No. - Okay, Nick, this is worth 20 if you could get 'em both. Give me the last year and player. The last time the Nix had an NBA finals MVP. - Okay. So I'm not sure of the year. I'm surprised I haven't heard this. But I'm gonna guess 1974. - Three. - 1973. - All right. And was the MVP Willis Reed? - Willis Reed for 10 points. - All right, I missed it by a year. Damn it. - There we go. That's why I do the podcast. 20 points for those out there. (snores) - I mean, I can't believe I haven't heard that number. - Being like-- - We just hope the top of the room-- - The top of the room that happened if the Nix blow this series. - Oh, forget it. - I'm gonna just stay away from New York City. I have plans that city, I'm not going anywhere. - They were gonna burn that city. - They're gonna burn it down. - They gotta just win these two. Just get it done. Get it done in the garden. Four in a row. - That'd be amazing, right? - Well, that would give 'em the all-time record. 15 in a row. Tie the all-time record. - You asked me that question a couple of weeks ago and I was like, "Well, never happened. "There's no way they're gonna sweep the Western Conference "champion." Let me see how I wanna is this real quick, 'cause my handwriting is just awful. - This is a season where I have new teams all the time at Quiz O. - I have four. - So I'm butchering names left and right. - Fan writing. - It's awful. - Okay, can you name, I'm gonna go two for ten and I'll do all four for 20. - Okay. - Can you name the four Edmonton Oilers that have won the MVP award? - Sure. - A season MVP. - There's been four of them. - Can name four. - Okay, it's probably more. The one guy is-- - Not a-- - I don't know, that's-- - Yeah. - But it's gonna be McDavid. - Okay. - It's gonna be Gretzky. It's gonna be Messier. - It's probably a better question if they were to only three. There's another guy that's on the Oilers that won the MVP. - Don't have a slide. - Yeah, Leon Drys' title. - I've never even heard that name before. - I've heard of LL Bean. - So Leon. - Leon Leon would be-- - Well, no two for ten, three for 20. - I don't know, I don't know. - I know. - You know what happened? I didn't even think of him. And I already had the question right now. - Yeah, man, you're looking up. - And I was like, oh, Jesus. - Just the case. - This guy. - Leon Drys' title. - I like that there'll be some like Edmonton and Mintonian sitting in the audience over there. We're like, how do you leave out Drys' title? - Oh yeah, they'll get very upset. - Be right. - If you leave him out, they'll be very, very upset. - Hockey guy. - Hockey guy is the only way. - He's the only way with hockey. - Tim Worten was a hockey player, wasn't he? - Yeah. - Yeah, I love that. - All right, let's go with geography history, ready? - Yeah. - Completed in 537 AD. I've got a couple geography histories that fall into entertainment too. You should like these. What national park appears on the cover of a U2 album? - So the album's got to be the Joshua Tree. - You got the album. - Okay. - What's the name of the national park featured on the album? - Is that Death Valley? - Yeah. - Death Valley National Park. - Yep. - Absolutely. - I've done. - It's got that cool tree. - It's got that as a kid. - Yeah. - Both our album. - Right. - Tape form and CD form, not vinyl.
