Welcome to episode 740 of the 2-Minute Takeaway Podcast.
Hi there.
I'm motivational keynote speaker, Ken Ockel.
Let me ask you something.
Have you ever said, "I'm gonna do it once I'm ready"?
Maybe it's launching a big idea, applying for a new job, starting your side hustle,
or even just speaking up in a meeting.
The twist is, ready is often a polite way of saying never.
We keep waiting for a magical moment.
When everything aligns, our inbox is empty, we're smarter, more confident, everything's
going well in our life, then we'll take action.
But surprise, that moment rarely shows up.
Because ready isn't a destination, it's a feeling, and feelings, they can be fickle.
If we only acted when we felt completely ready, we'd still be using flip phones and 8-track
cassettes and waiting for someone to invent the Internet.
Think about it.
Were you totally ready the first time you did something big in your life, your first job
interview, first presentation, first day leading a team?
You probably stumbled a little.
You learned by doing, not by waiting.
Then yes, prepare, I'm not saying jump off a cliff and hope things work out.
At some point, you have to say, I'm ready, let's go.
The real growth, it happens when you take action.
Confidence builds after action, not before it.
So the next time your brain says, wait till you're ready, say back, I'm ready enough,
let's get moving.
Because professionals don't wait for perfect conditions, they learn, adjust, and improve
as they go.
And if it doesn't go perfectly, that's okay.
Perfect was never the point.
It was all about progress.
I've got some cool people for you to meet.
Katie the custodian, Gina the ballerina, and 20 push-ups pat.
These are just some of the characters who are in my new book, Get Better, Smart Business
Advice from Unexpected Mentors.
The book is out.
