In this interview, the band SCASM discusses their origins and musical journey. The members—Kaden (vocals/guitar), Jimmy (guitar), Adrian (drums), and Tyler (bass)—met in high school, initially bonding over shared musical interests and playing in various earlier bands like Haxon and Used Up. Their sound evolved as they explored heavier genres together, influenced by artists from Metallica and Slipknot to Suffocation and Knocked Loose. The band's name, SCASM, was coined by Adrian from an Urban Dictionary term blending "scab" and "orgasm," selected for its distinctiveness. After a period of separation, the members reunited, finding their creative chemistry intact, and began writing music through intuitive jam sessions. They quickly produced several songs, recorded an EP in a DIY studio in Philadelphia, and started performing live. The interview highlights their collaborative, organic writing process, plans for upcoming releases and shows, and the strong personal bonds that underpin their aggressive, genre-blending sound.
Speaker 1
Welcome to Nikki D Show.
I'm your host Nikki D Today I'm here with SCASM.
Speaker 2
What's going on?
Speaker 1
So introduce yourself.
Speaker 3
I'm Kaden.
I'm vocals and guitar.
Speaker 4
I made a dream and I play the drums.
Speaker 2
Jimmy I play guitar and Tyler.
Speaker 5
I play the bass.
Speaker 1
So how does SCASM come about?
Speaker 3
That's that's a long, it's a good question.
We got a long time.
There's a lot of history, I guess, between us.
Anyone can talk.
Speaker 2
About Yeah, I don't really know where we should start.
I mean, we started jamming in high school probably about sophomore year.
We really started getting together right after school, I guess.
And then we started our own little thing.
Speaker 4
Well, you guys played first.
Speaker 2
Yeah, we we started.
Speaker 3
Jamming Kaden and I, me and Jimmy, we like we met in a speed class.
Speaker 2
Yeah, we met in a program to basically pass high school.
Speaker 3
It was called pass.
Speaker 2
Yeah, an acronym.
Speaker 3
And yeah, and we just, I'd always go to his house and like I I was into like Ed Sheeran and like John Mayer guitar stuff and and and Jimmy Jimmy showed me like master puppets.
And I was like, whoa, metal.
Speaker 2
Yeah, we kind of just got heavier together, I guess.
We discovered new bands and just kind of try to do our own thing as the years went on this.
Speaker 3
Guy.
I don't even know this guy, you fucking.
He's always been music, man.
Speaker 2
That's drummer.
It's pretty early on, I guess.
Yeah, But yeah.
And then we started hanging out with Adrian in high school.
I'm thinking, yeah, I don't.
I don't really.
Speaker 4
Know where to go from there?
Well, that would be Drew played.
Speaker 3
There's this guy, Drew.
Speaker 4
You've met Drew.
Speaker 3
He was in.
He was in our old band.
Used the.
Speaker 4
Yeah, we played and then we played with Jimmy one day.
Yeah.
I think it was like when we first started.
Yeah, no, I broke it in mega ass.
And then, I don't know, we, oh, we played with another another kid.
It was not used up yet.
And then and then we played and then it was like whatever, First metal band.
Yeah.
Speaker 3
Yeah, we called it.
I remember we called it Haxon because it was like a Swedish word for like the witch.
Speaker 2
Or something like that, which is funny because.
Speaker 3
Our drummer's in a band called The Witch Too Shadow the Witch.
Speaker 5
The Witch shut.
Speaker 4
That down.
Speaker 3
Yeah, we got that.
But yeah, I mean, we all jammed for like a long time.
We did like a house show at his old the drummer's old house and Adrian Adrian's old house.
And yeah, we just like, we eventually stopped doing that.
And then he did the start.
You started the Witch, right?
Speaker 4
I didn't start it.
Now they were with me.
Speaker 3
Well, they hooked up with you guys.
Speaker 4
They were playing and then I didn't.
I got pissed off because I couldn't fucking play metal because I couldn't figure it out.
I don't know, it was just aggravating me.
So that went on break.
Yeah.
So then I went to play with the Witch.
Speaker 2
Well, you did used up before that, right?
Speaker 4
Now I was in the I was.
I played with the Witch right after we stopped playing and then we got nothing done.
Actually, we got like one song but and then me and Drew were in that and then we quit and then started used up and then played for a little bit.
He made some songs and asked him to play the guitar.
I don't know.
Yeah.
Asked him to play the guitar.
Speaker 6
How the fuck did we do?
Speaker 3
We wrote an.
Speaker 4
Album, Yeah.
Then we no, we made the, we did the single.
Speaker 3
Oh yeah, Swan floaty.
Speaker 4
And then we played.
Speaker 6
Did we break?
Speaker 3
Up and then.
Speaker 4
No.
Speaker 3
Because when did Nino come into it?
Speaker 4
He played the bass because Drew wanted to play the guitar.
Speaker 6
Yeah.
Speaker 4
So that happened.
Speaker 3
And then I got butt hurt because you never texted me to play the show at the Witch's house.
Speaker 4
Yeah, I don't remember why.
Speaker 3
Yeah, me either.
Speaker 4
And then that was like our first show and then.
Speaker 6
Yeah.
Speaker 4
Trying to think thing what happened Oh yeah, then you joined and then we were I recorded the drums already for the album, used up album and then drew did all the guitar.
But then he joined again.
So we just like, read that, all that, and then we just did that for a while.
Speaker 7
For about a year.
Speaker 4
And then I got fucking pissed off.
I got just bored.
And then I joined the witch.
But I was still in used and used up.
And I quite used up.
Speaker 3
And then consequently got way better at drums somehow in that short.
Speaker 7
Like it's just like.
Speaker 4
Playing like.
Speaker 3
Like exploded and like you never played any of the stuff you play now.
Like even two different.
Speaker 4
Well, I would play it.
We would play it as a joke.
Me and Drew, yeah.
Speaker 2
That's why I got like slowly developed.
Speaker 4
Overtime I like would do like choke Last beats and shit.
So it was just like, I got good at doing that.
And then I was in the Witch and I was just like, I don't know.
And then it was like, fucking did you ask me?
I don't know.
Who asked who?
I.
Speaker 2
Don't know, I was like trying to like do my.
Speaker 4
Like, oh Mike, Mike said that you wanted to play.
I remember he was telling me he was like, yeah, Jimmy wants to play.
Speaker 2
It's one of our buddies, Mike.
I was just like trying to jam with him because they were off doing their own thing.
We were all trying to, like, figure stuff out at the time.
But then eventually we all got back in touch and I was hanging out with my buddy Mike and we all got together the one day and jammed out.
Speaker 4
And then Mike did.
Mike.
No, he didn't come.
Speaker 2
Yeah.
And Mike didn't come, but I showed up, yeah.
And then we just started playing and then we just started jamming on some heavy stuff.
And then you were like, all right, this is what it is, I guess.
Speaker 7
Eventually I was fine.
Eventually.
Speaker 3
I got a text or call from Adrian and he was like, I'm doing this and that and I was like, yeah, yeah, definitely be down.
I haven't played with, I hadn't played with Jim in like 2 a year, like close to two years.
Yeah, a long time and.
Speaker 2
Any of you guys?
Speaker 3
Really we just got, we got back together and we were all in like a like minded state of.
It was cool, heavy music.
Speaker 2
The chemistry is still there and like.
Speaker 3
We never had that in the meantime.
It was cool.
The silent guy over there.
Speaker 2
Yeah, Tyler.
Speaker 5
Over here, yeah, Like they said, they got together and I knew them all in high school.
They're all great about me.
Speaker 3
I knew this kid since he was.
Speaker 5
Yeah, I know, Kaden.
Speaker 3
For fucking ever.
Speaker 5
I've known Jimmy for also a long time.
I've been here for a.
Speaker 2
While he's the baby of the group, yeah.
Speaker 5
But they, you know, I've always, I've always played bass, but I've never been in a band.
I was just kind of, you know, playing in my room all the time by myself for a few years and then you guys forced you.
You should come out, yeah.
Speaker 4
And we forced you to play the bass.
Speaker 2
Yeah, we just knew he had it too.
Like, yeah, See when he plays.
Speaker 3
He was going to you.
He'll send.
Speaker 2
US videos.
Speaker 3
You're into like, the Metallica stuff.
Speaker 5
Yeah, sure.
Speaker 3
Iron Maiden, So you're always like fluent with bass stuff.
So we were just like, yo, we no one else.
We didn't want Josh or Greg or whoever played or Drew.
So we were just like, yo, don't.
Speaker 5
Know the pick too?
Yeah.
Speaker 2
Fingernail.
Yeah, he doesn't use a pick.
That's pretty cool.
Speaker 7
That's just good, especially for this.
Speaker 5
That was too really like I would sit in my room and just.
Speaker 3
Fucking to take on, to take on every single.
Speaker 7
Blast beat that he gives you with no pick.
Speaker 5
But it's also cool because I that is kind of different for what I'm doing now.
Like I tuned down, but it's cool because I can like implement that.
Speaker 2
Yeah, that was also different for I guess the both of you guys too, because.
Speaker 3
I never really.
I was like, I mean, I'm like super Slipknot fan in the more recent, like years.
I never really listened to them growing up a lot.
But like, I don't know.
I just was like down to go down.
Speaker 2
The snare got higher in.
Speaker 3
The Yeah, I mean, there's only so much you can do in any standard tuning.
Like even low standard tunings, it's hard to come up.
So I mean drop tunings are super easy to to jam out on stuff and make it sound nasty.
So we were all just like, hell yeah, let's do that.
And then yeah, once we, the four of us hooked up, we there's like this.
That's basically how it started.
And then now we're here, pretty much.
There's a bunch of other shit like.
Speaker 5
Play a couple shows.
Speaker 3
We wrote as soon as we got together, we just started writing shit, started jamming smokes, Trevor.
Yeah, we just started jamming shit and it we have developed a kind of like us us like a way we go about writing stuff.
I don't know how other groups do it but it what we got we really like because like we just get together play what we feel like playing.
And whether it be the Adrian, Jimmy, whoever me will, something will stick out and we'll be like go play that again play it again.
And it's just like it's not even like we're trying to like consciously like this note this note this.
We're just kind of like letting it go and it's like, oh, this part should go here, this part should go here.
Sometimes we'll like have a bunch of riffs and then we'll just be like, all right, where can this go in front of this to make this heavier?
So it's like, I don't know, we we kind of just know what we all want and we use that and we got a bunch of decent songs, 6 songs in the first like 2-3 months of us just getting together and we were like, let's record this shit.
So in Sept, like late September, we went down to Philly, hooked up with our buddies Peter and Chris Shadow Peter and Chris Peter.
Speaker 2
And Chris?
Peter.
Speaker 1
And Chris?
Speaker 3
Shadow, Peter and Chris.
But Adrian knew them because when he.
Speaker 7
Well, he could tell you.
Speaker 3
If you want.
Speaker 4
Yeah, I did recorded.
When I recorded in South Jersey with the Witch, Peter was there.
He was like the intern because he goes to Drexel for the producer Gary.
So I was like talking to him because we just started this, like, right when I went there in the summer and I was showing him like just some demo show we had.
And he liked it because he likes like power, violence and just the hardcore stuff.
And I was like, and he's going to, I think he's majoring in audio engineering.
I don't know.
But he had this.
They do this, Yeah.
So they do all that.
Speaker 2
He did a good job, bro.
Speaker 4
So yeah, I just asked him.
I was like, when do you want us to come down?
Pretty much.
We just went there and did her thing.
Yeah.
Speaker 3
It was pretty.
Speaker 7
Quick three days tour of his basement.
Speaker 6
It's like a dungeon.
Speaker 3
Yeah, it's like you go and you walk into Drexel and it's like down you go down to elevator, it's like all these studio rooms, the.
Speaker 1
The labyrinth, yeah.
Speaker 3
Yeah, but it's dope.
We had a fun time in Philly and yeah, we recorded that shit and we're still waiting to drop it.
December 22nd it comes out.
We'll talk more about it.
Speaker 1
Already out when this podcast comes out?
Speaker 3
Yeah.
Oh shit, that'll be out of it.
That's really.
Speaker 1
Cool.
Stream that.
Speaker 4
Fuck yeah, it's like next week.
Speaker 6
Yeah, it is.
Well, I.
Speaker 2
Kind of forgot.
Speaker 6
About.
Speaker 3
It.
But yeah, since then we just recorded that shit and just playing playing as many shows as we can, hooking up with whoever we can find.
We just played a Surprise Me locker show with a bunch of new bands we never played with.
It was pretty cool.
We've been at we've.
Speaker 2
That was.
Speaker 3
A good show.
We've gotten a lot of all out, like random places early out.
Like we went to Delaware already.
We're driving like all the way in the sticks of South Jersey.
Like, yeah, Elmer, yeah, plays we never, never even heard of.
So pretty cool.
Speaker 4
Yeah, we ever going to go to Brooklyn?
Speaker 3
Yeah, we got to get soon to January, January.
Speaker 2
Trying to go to Philly.
Speaker 6
Yeah.
Speaker 4
Then we got to record new shit.
Yeah.
Speaker 6
We got new shit.
Speaker 2
So this stuff is new in the works so.
Speaker 1
Where does the name skasm come from?
Speaker 2
That's all Adrian, he kind of came up with that.
We're all shooting names, but he did it mess with that one.
Speaker 3
But didn't it come from like some what it means?
There was like a longer version that we like.
Should we shorten it down?
Yeah.
Speaker 4
It's just that that's what is it.
That's what it is.
But.
Speaker 3
Like there was like 2 words, There was other, there was other words that were super similar to it that that we like centered in on it was.
Speaker 4
Just no.
It was one word.
I looked it up.
I thought of it in my head, and I think it's got to be a word.
But I just was like, thinking of words that sounded weird.
I looked it up on Urban Dictionary.
It was SCASM.
And it meant people who, like, pick their scabs and then like, they like it's so much, they just like fucking orgasm.
Orgasm.
Yeah.
So it's just those two words together, Scab.
Speaker 2
Orgasm.
Yeah, It's just it's just it's got a nice ring to it.
It just sounds cool.
Skasm.
Speaker 4
And I was sick of all those.
Like, it's different.
It's just names that are just all fucking.
I don't know, just.
Speaker 2
Yeah, I guess, yeah.
When you hear it too, you don't necessarily know what it is, I guess, like if it's a metal band or like, you know, like you.
Speaker 1
Don't really know exactly you wish that.
Well, here's like that that.
Speaker 3
Sounds like crazy As needed.
Yes.
It's it's nice.
Yeah, we like it.
Exactly.
Speaker 2
Yeah.
Speaker 3
But it yeah, it came after a lot of just searching and searching and searching, like me and him both.
We were we were just like on Spotify, all like looking up.
We think of a word, look it up on Spotify, it's banned.
It's free dance.
Like everything we just could.
It was like it was a while we were coming up with like.
Speaker 4
You're going to use mong among something, like mugging something.
Speaker 3
Or yeah, yeah, mugging, yeah, but that was already a band.
Perennium.
Perineum Perineum or something?
Speaker 4
Perineum I.
Speaker 3
Don't know, it's like you're.
Speaker 4
It's, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2
For.
Speaker 3
Sure, yeah.
Skasm.
What was unique and unused?
So we were like, fuck yeah, and Jimmy just sketched out the logo.
That's the sticker on your computer.
Anything we ever use for promotion.
It's literally just Jimmy just got like notepad paper and just like, sketched it out.
And you can see if you look closely in the logo you can see the lines from the notepad pretty.
Speaker 7
Cool, I try to get rid of.
Speaker 2
Them.
But it looks cool.
Fuck it.
Uniqueness.
Yeah.
Speaker 1
Sense of like creativity, there's there's human in that art.
Speaker 2
Hell yeah.
Speaker 1
So I would describe your sound people who don't know about spasm.
Speaker 3
I was just going to point to you.
We talk about.
Speaker 2
This all the.
Speaker 3
Time too, We don't.
Speaker 5
Even it's a fast.
Speaker 3
Fast.
Yeah, but.
Speaker 2
I guess if you want.
Speaker 3
To.
I guess if anyone's listening who doesn't listen to have like it's.
Speaker 7
Very heavy, aggressive.
Speaker 3
Music.
Speaker 5
Yes, aggressive.
Speaker 3
And if you listen to heavy, aggressive music, yeah, it's like more death.
It's like death slam.
Speaker 2
It's like I guess if you want to be genre.
Speaker 3
Specific There's death metal, there's.
Speaker 2
Slam beat down, I guess.
Beat down.
Speaker 3
Yeah, I guess.
Speaker 2
That's the closest I can.
Speaker 3
There's a lot of different part.
There's thrash elements, and Adrian wouldn't want to admit it, but there's there's there's.
Speaker 4
A lot.
Not the drums.
Speaker 8
There's a lot.
Speaker 3
Yeah, I mean there's plenty of different just influences from all over because.
I mean, I I mean, I listen to a bunch of just like basic stuff.
Probably more basic than like in my in my early in my early years for sure.
Speaker 2
I wouldn't say that.
I think you're more like a progressive.
Speaker 3
I'd say I've expanded it since since I've been like 1314.
I started like when I was a kid.
It was mostly just like whatever's on the radio, my mom's CDs.
Speaker 6
But like I.
Speaker 3
Don't know.
I feel like.
I feel like Adrian's always had just like 2 steps ahead of everyone with music.
I just like anything you.
Just every no.
Because every time it's like, hey, you ever heard of this video and you listen to, you've had listen to every album already.
I know.
It was like, do you know this song, guys on this album?
Speaker 6
This band, they're the show I just like Spaz.
Speaker 4
We're.
Speaker 2
We're a little similar in that way.
I just we're kind of, I remember we were on the phone for at least two hours talking about Job for a Cowboy and like just bands like like Myspace, bands like All night long.
Speaker 3
It's pretty funny though, because like, I never heard of Single Superpod before.
You or anyone told me about it, but you'd never heard of Kubla Khan.
Speaker 2
Yeah, you guys showed.
We go back and forth with shit like that.
You guys showed me cool bands.
Same thing with you, dude.
You're more of a thrash guy, but like.
Speaker 3
You.
Speaker 2
You show me some cool stuff.
Speaker 9
That's where I am.
Speaker 5
Razor.
Speaker 4
Bro.
Fucking.
Speaker 9
Razor.
Speaker 2
Shit, Razor.
Pretty sick.
I don't know, but yeah, I guess as far as sound goes.
Speaker 4
I've been going for slam shit but.
Speaker 3
Yeah, we've been trying to learn more towards slamming parts.
The vocals, I just, I don't even know what you'd call them.
The Whatever.
Speaker 4
That's like a.
Speaker 2
You got like Brian Garris type sort of like.
Speaker 3
It's like influence.
It's like knock, knock, loose E influence, yeah?
Speaker 2
I guess.
Speaker 3
And it's also, it's like, kind of like dystopia.
The certain screams like and like the way I'm doing it, it's it's like more high fries than low gutturals, but like that.
That's kind of where it differs from SLAM so far.
But I mean, we're always trying to experiment.
Speaker 8
With fries.
Speaker 5
Slam with.
Speaker 3
Fries.
Speaker 2
Slam.
Speaker 3
Roof slam with fries is not a bad.
Speaker 1
Slam fries.
Speaker 2
Pretty much.
Speaker 1
Yeah, so like how would you like describe like, well, artists like influence your specific instrument, each of you guys you want.
Speaker 7
To go first you go.
Speaker 5
First you would probably the, I'd say to start clip Burton.
That's because I just kind of got handed a bass guitar one day for my mom's friend.
I was like this kind of sucks.
I wanted the guitar and then I just started playing it, you know, and I was like, this is kind of cool.
And then I started looking, you know, John Clip Burton and then kind of wandered into more heavier stuff like heavier territory, like faster too.
So like I said before, a razor, that's definitely where the fast comes in.
And then like Clifford and Solo stuff, that's for that with.
Speaker 1
The complexity.
Speaker 5
Yeah.
Speaker 2
I mean, I guess for me, I don't know, like, it started off like, I've always been a rhythm bass guy.
So I, like always loved James Hetfield grown up and like Dime back there was like riffs, like it, like his rhythm stuff, you know what I'm saying?
But as far as guitar goes now, I really love Terrence Hobbs suffocation, everything from human waste to now, like, it's just fucking sick.
Like all his riffs are amazing.
I don't know.
Like, I've.
I always haven't really been a technical dude, but I love those parts that he has.
But like the slam stuff that he comes up with and like other bands, like Waking the Cadaver, they're like just sick.
Like, I love those parts.
They're like a cerebral incubation, like just a lot of slam stuff.
Devour Men.
Like, I love that shit.
Like, that's where I'm at right now in my head, space music wise, well, that's where I am.
Yeah, I guess you're sort of there too.
I don't.
Speaker 4
Know it's the slam stuff really.
If at first though it was like fast, it was like fucking like punk drums.
So it's just like, I like pop punk drums.
It was like a lot of that shit.
So I was like Travis Parker and fucking who was the other the dude from The Ataris?
Like all fucking MXPX?
I've got like it's Yuri.
Speaker 6
I forget his.
Speaker 4
Fucking name.
But all those fucking drums like to get my like, stamina, I guess.
But like, for metal, it's like the varmint cerebral or like a lot of grind.
Shit, I guess.
I don't know.
Just like, what's that larva therapy?
Speaker 2
Yeah, Larva therapy, yeah.
Or larva or it's I think it is larva.
Speaker 4
Or Bio Stew.
They're cool.
They're sick.
Speaker 2
Yeah.
Speaker 4
I just like that.
Like where it's almost kind of shit.
Speaker 2
We're going to go see them.
Oh, yeah, they're sick.
Yeah.
But I think Bats remember it's in, I think March.
Speaker 4
They're in that.
Speaker 2
And we can look at that for Hell yeah.
Are you going to be there?
Speaker 1
Maybe.
I don't know.
We got to show.
Speaker 2
You.
That's going to be awesome.
Speaker 3
Cubacana tsunami are coming to Sarahville, yeah.
Speaker 1
I have the same day as with the meat locker.
Oh.
Speaker 2
Fucking supposed to.
Speaker 4
Be the, I guess, Mortician.
There are drums because it's just like, I mean, there's really simple, but like, I like to just like Heavy.
Oh yeah, Mortician.
Or Crypt Topsy, Because he does crypt.
Speaker 6
Topsy.
Speaker 4
Flow Menier what is?
Speaker 2
Does.
Speaker 4
This, I would say, is like the influence on playing how I play.
Speaker 2
Oh shit.
My bad.
I got one more peeling flesh.
Oh yeah.
Speaker 4
Oh, Cody too, Cody.
Speaker 2
For yeah, that that shit goes so hard.
That's it for us.
Can't.
Speaker 1
Get to the meat locker.
Send me a school.
Speaker 2
Bug.
Fuck yeah, dude.
Speaker 3
That would put us on.
Speaker 2
Yeah, seriously.
Speaker 4
You just do it by.
Speaker 2
The beat locker you just do, Yeah.
Speaker 3
I don't know my my like.
I mean my first.
Speaker 5
Ever.
Speaker 3
I mean, it's kind of douchey now looking back on it, but my first ever reason for getting a guitar was just like.
I mean, I was always in like the band.
I was like a trumpet player, like grown up since like third grade.
But I just like.
I got to high school and I was like.
Speaker 2
Yo, I'll get a guitar.
I'll be the fucking guitar guy.
Speaker 3
So I learned like, a bunch of Ed Sheeran songs and shit, and I was just like.
Speaker 2
Singing in the cafeteria.
Speaker 3
Yeah, doing all that.
And yeah, that.
That was like the early reason for picking it up.
But everybody starts somewhere, dude.
Ever since Jim showed me Metallica and stuff, it's like basically the same.
So whatever.
Jim said basically the same as his, like just James Hetfield was huge influence, like just like it for everything.
Every.
Speaker 4
Sort of play all the songs.
Speaker 3
Oh yeah.
Back when it was just me, Jimmy and Adrian and like Drew, we metallic every single song.
Everything features go through.
We knew.
We knew them all.
Speaker 1
Them all back to.
Speaker 3
Front and basically.
Speaker 2
We we love them.
Yeah.
Like.
Speaker 3
I mean, we just saw him in me and Jim saw him in August with Tyler.
It was cool.
Speaker 2
Yeah, we just saw them.
They were awesome.
Pantera, too, that was.
Speaker 3
Awesome.
Yeah.
Then after like Metallica and like Kirk Hammett and all of them I had, like Dimebag Darrell was like an obsession.
Speaker 2
Oh yeah, for.
Speaker 3
Stuff was kind.
I mean, I got the razor blade necklace on.
I I bought the Dean from hell.
Like when I was like 14 I was just like I need it I.
Speaker 2
Need it?
Speaker 3
Now.
And I just like was obsessed with dime for like, ever.
And I know Adrian got sick of it at practice because all I would do is just fucking do solo.
Speaker 4
Shit.
Tonight.
This is your fucking punishment.
Now you get one solo.
Speaker 3
Yeah, but if he.
Speaker 2
Has one solo in the whole EP.
It's fine.
It's where it's needed.
Speaker 3
But yeah, Dime.
Eddie.
Eddie Van Halen, which I just always loved the rhythm stuff and like solo stuff from both of those guys, but like can.
Speaker 4
You stem daddy for a little bit.
Speaker 3
I did.
I did.
Rightfully so, dude.
Speaker 2
He's the.
Speaker 3
Man.
And that the also because he died that year.
I think I was just like.
Speaker 4
You pulled like a Mac, Miller, bro.
Speaker 1
Yeah.
Speaker 4
Fucking love Mac Miller.
You didn't even listen to kids, bro.
Whatever.
Speaker 3
I watched it.
I've ever seen kids.
Yeah, shout out KISS, Kool-aid and Frozen peas, bro.
But fucking yeah.
As far as the heavy shit goes, I don't even want to, like, claim that.
I know as much as like these guys.
I don't want to sound like a poser, but like, it's basically I just everything I ever All these bands I listen to, like like the heavy ones are I learned from like Jimmy and Adrian.
They just like Adrian would always have shit in his car playing.
I'd be like, what's this band?
And like, he would send me shit to like, 'cause like, it would like fit with practice too, because he wanted me to play certain shit.
So we'd be like listen to this, so like play stuff like this.
So I would just like, I would look, look for more bands through that.
Like I love Sang Super Bug, Kuba Khan.
A lot of the my vocal stuff on the EP, like the phrasing of it was inspired by like Kubla Khan stuff.
Speaker 2
Yeah, the blends.
Very interesting.
Speaker 3
It's like not the same vocals like Tamber, but it's like the phrasing is kind of.
Speaker 2
Even with the music too, it's just like an interesting blend of.
Speaker 3
Sound.
Yeah.
Well, I I love Tsunami.
A lot of the bands they named I love.
I can't claim.
I know a lot of their songs, but I mean I love this shit.
But it like, I I get inspired.
Yeah.
I get inspired by like practice.
Really.
I just like when we get there, whatever gym comes up with, I'll think of something and then I'll be like, oh that's cool, I'll try to play more shit like that.
And then like, I don't know, bit that for real.
Like I don't.
Yeah.
Speaker 1
So what about the live element of SCASM was which I spare part about like forming live?
Speaker 3
The crap, man.
Fucking love.
Every time I get off, I like, I'd say it to somewhere.
I'm just like, I love the fucking energy, man.
I just like love the back and forth, you know?
It's like great shit.
I don't know like what every artist says about like the crowd exchange.
It's just like therapy shit.
It's like dope to be able to just go crazy with everyone.
Especially when it's like stuff we work on and like we love and that's like a super important for anybody.
Any band like you got to really love your shit before you go out.
You can't like there's no fake in it.
Like we all, we're super nitpicky.
All of us with, like, really getting it the way we want it sounds and we just.
Speaker 2
Even live.
Speaker 3
Yeah, we won't go like, we won't play a song until it's like or say it's done, until it's like we're all like, hell yeah, yeah, this shit's like dope.
I don't know.
It's like super important.
Speaker 2
But like, as far as live, I don't really know how to answer it.
Just one because I'm like still sort of like new playing out shows like they, Adrian and Cain have been playing out for a while from their, you know, past endeavours.
But I don't know.
Like, it's like, I like anxious at first as always, but like, it's not like because I don't want to do it or anything.
I just like, I want to fucking get up there and like get it on.
Like, yeah, but like, yeah, it's just.
Speaker 3
Yeah, it is.
It's cool.
It's dope.
Speaker 5
And you see, like you said, like we come up with this stuff together and then we're able to play it for people and then to see them.
Speaker 2
Yeah, I love seeing people's faces.
It's just an awesome feeling.
Speaker 3
But yeah, the sound.
It's so like standing behind, like in front of your aunt feeling the fucking.
Speaker 5
Yeah, that's fucking.
Speaker 2
Cool.
Everyone's happy too.
That's awesome.
You.
Speaker 3
Know.
I mean, I can't even imagine what shit is like for you because you just like, I feel like you just going to like a zone.
Speaker 4
I like behind everyone.
I only thing I like is when I'm like doing something and I see some motherfucker like staring, staring at me.
I think it's funny.
Other than that, Yeah, Like if I'm just doing something, like funny, I don't know, like last week, it's just like they're just standing.
Like, what the fuck?
Speaker 2
How the fuck but the energy is always it's.
Speaker 3
It's always great.
I mean, I think it's like.
Speaker 2
A bad time, I wouldn't say.
Speaker 4
No, as long as they're fucking moving around.
I don't like when people are stagnant, just like just like fucking looking at you and you're just like.
Speaker 2
You can't force people to move, but you get those crowds once in a while and it's just like.
Speaker 1
I can't help it.
Speaker 2
No, yeah.
Yeah.
Speaker 3
I mean.
Speaker 4
A couple of people, you know, we haven't had a.
Speaker 3
It's always worth it to me like a show if I see at least like 1.
Speaker 2
Person.
Speaker 3
Yeah man, because like I remember like used up, had a show and it was like not the best show.
You know, it's one of those, Ben.
But there's like this one, like 1314 year old kid and he was like, yeah, I was like, I don't know.
I mean, it's still, I don't know, It's just cool to be able to make someone's day better, you know?
Speaker 2
Even though Bulletproof, when we played there, after every song, there was that one guy who was like, fuck, yeah.
After every single song we played, it was like people were done clapping and he would go, fuck, Yeah, that was incredible.
Like, I love that dude.
That shit was great, man.
Yeah.
Speaker 4
It's cool.
Speaker 3
It's cool.
Live is like like, at least to me, it's like the most important part of the whole thing.
It's like that's why we do it.
Speaker 2
Yeah, it's like, and you make great friends, yeah.
Speaker 7
We've made, we've met.
Speaker 3
This like, shout out gutter violence.
Our buddies, fuck yeah, they're they're sick, bro.
I mean, they're just cool dudes like it's and like same with you Anthony.
Everyone we've met through the scene.
Speaker 2
You guys hooked us up with our first show, I'm pretty sure.
Yeah, man, It's like at the Claremont.
Speaker 4
Yeah, it's texting, Anthony.
I was texting Anthony.
I was like.
Speaker 6
He goes to show.
Speaker 4
Before the summer ends, just 'cause I knew everyone was going to college, I was.
Speaker 2
Like, yeah, it was like mid August.
Speaker 4
I was like, we got, yeah, we got to fucking get it so someone sees us.
I.
Speaker 2
Think it's the 14th?
Speaker 4
Yeah, it was what, gutter.
I mean, also, like, I believe it was.
Yeah, that's right.
Yeah.
But also like, I was surprised by how many.
Like.
So I feel like in every other scene that I've been in, other than this metal scene, all the bands are very fucking like, yeah, they're cool, but no one really is like actually friendly.
Like friendly.
I mean person to person, depending on like, who it is.
I feel like most of the time it was just like fucking fuck these guys, fuck these guys.
It's always like something like that.
But I feel like the scene like metal.
Speaker 2
Yeah, it was very welcoming.
It was very like more.
Speaker 1
Like community hell.
Speaker 4
Yeah, I was sure.
Speaker 2
Like I was.
Speaker 3
Like, I don't remember being used up, like hanging out, like with the whole band, our whole band, hanging out with another whole band and like, talking it's.
Speaker 4
Like like.
Speaker 3
Around redwoods.
Redwoods too.
Yeah, we.
Speaker 2
Hang out with all those dudes.
Speaker 3
But like, Gutter was super nice, man.
Like, it was our first show and we were just like.
Speaker 4
What was our second show?
Speaker 2
That's their second show in our first show.
Speaker 3
Yeah, they were just, we were just outside and they were just chilling like we knew him like it was.
It was dope, man.
Speaker 2
And those guys played their second show like it was their like 80th show.
They have such.
Speaker 3
A Yeah, We.
Speaker 4
Played a lot, I said.
That's two, That's two.
They have all of you guys been playing?
We're like, this is our first show.
They're like.
Speaker 1
Yeah, there's a.
Speaker 3
What?
Yeah, man, we want to play.
We want to play with the more of that.
Oh, dude, we played a lot of gigs.
The the most of our shows, yeah, they've been on them.
Speaker 2
9 out of 10 times.
Speaker 4
I mean, there's only so they're.
Speaker 2
Going to be there with us, yeah.
Speaker 4
There's only so many bands up here.
Speaker 2
Yeah, can't miss trying to think of anybody else who we hostaside.
Just yeah, hostaside.
Shout out hot talking.
That's fucking awesome we play with.
Speaker 3
Them we're about to be at dingbats.
Speaker 4
Final girls were cool.
Speaker 3
With.
Speaker 4
Talk to them.
Oh.
Speaker 3
Yeah, I mean to him.
Final girls outside and.
Speaker 2
Yeah, hell yeah.
What's his?
Speaker 6
What's his name?
Speaker 4
Yeah, he's cool.
I saw him at the Mortician Show.
Speaker 2
He's at like, all the shows, too.
Speaker 3
Yeah, he's.
Speaker 1
A good friend of mine, he was podcast too.
Speaker 2
Yeah, he was on like the last one, right, Couple, couple months ago something.
Speaker 4
Yeah, he's he's cool.
I'm trying to think of what we even met.
Speaker 2
So many people, dude.
Even Keefe Chamber, I don't know if you're familiar with.
Speaker 1
Them.
Speaker 2
They're so sick.
We just saw them at the meat locker replay show with them on Saturday.
Speaker 4
What was the band after us?
Speaker 2
The black metal band.
Speaker 3
Drags, drags home, yeah.
Speaker 5
They were good.
They were fucking.
I can't really.
Speaker 2
Pronounce it because they were fast.
Sorry.
Yeah, no, they're they're fucking sick.
They were awesome.
Speaker 4
Drummer Clan was cool.
He was really cool.
He was like a slam dude too.
He was just like at that side door who like look at him when I was playing and he just be like fucking doing shit while I'm playing.
Speaker 6
He's making me laugh.
He's cool though.
Speaker 1
So any of those venues you guys like have like you former there before I?
Speaker 2
Don't know?
Like, what did you say your favorite is?
Speaker 4
Oh, like favorite place we've played, Yeah.
Speaker 5
E Locker I.
Speaker 2
Like, I mean, I definitely love the, yeah, the place.
Speaker 4
Is cool but.
Speaker 2
I feel like there's more for us, so so.
Speaker 3
Far, yeah.
So far, the meat locker than the coolest place.
Speaker 4
I think that's would be cool because I I mean, they they haven't played there.
Yeah, yeah.
So that's why I was like.
Speaker 3
It always sounds super tight.
Speaker 4
Yeah, I'm also excited to hear that.
Like all the shit miked up, Yeah.
Speaker 2
But the the meat locker is it's always down.
It's always that's so sick.
There, they found you there.
Speaker 1
Is.
Speaker 2
Unreal.
Even if it's like even if it's not packed out.
Speaker 4
Dude, I've never seen anyone crowd surf.
I've never seen anyone crasser for my life till fucking until we played and I was just like.
Speaker 2
I.
Speaker 8
Was.
Speaker 2
Like.
Speaker 4
Whoa, you didn't know.
Speaker 2
What was crasser pen?
Speaker 4
Was no, I mean our shows, no, I've never seen anyone do that at the knee locker.
Speaker 1
A couple of times.
Speaker 4
I'm just not there enough.
But like, every time we've played, like any band that I've never.
Speaker 3
Had a crowd.
Speaker 4
I've never seen fucking.
I'm also fucking like, chill A chill, man, I guess.
Not fucking.
Speaker 2
Will you get in there sometimes, man?
Yeah, you have a couple hold my beer moments when you fucking.
Speaker 4
It's when I get hit, bro.
Speaker 3
You just like once.
Speaker 4
I get fucking hit.
I spazz out.
I spazz out.
Yeah, I get hit.
I just spazz out.
I'm like, fuck him.
Speaker 1
Fuck him.
Speaker 3
Fuck yeah.
But I mean we we always, we're always trying to check out new places.
We've made some choices to drive very far to some places that weren't necessarily Elmer, but.
Speaker 4
I'm almost cool there though.
Speaker 2
Yeah, it was cool.
Speaker 4
They say they weren't nice it.
Speaker 2
Was a cool vibe.
It was just so far, you know what I mean?
It's really on a show in Jersey because we just played a show in Delaware.
Speaker 4
I didn't think it was that.
Speaker 3
Far it was 3 hours.
Speaker 9
Because they were.
It was.
Speaker 4
All bands from up here.
I was like, oh, it's got to be from somewhere up here.
And then it was not that, it was at the ash ending we.
Speaker 2
Were like driving.
Literally.
It was like in the middle of nowhere.
We were like, dude, this isn't set.
Speaker 3
Up inland it's inland.
Speaker 2
So we got there.
It was all chill, you know?
It was fun.
Speaker 6
Yeah, it's just.
Speaker 2
Like.
Speaker 4
That's her, the witch recorded.
It's like down there.
She kind of knew it was, she said.
Speaker 5
This fucking police station was 25 minutes away, she said.
The police station was 25 minutes.
Speaker 3
Yeah, but not but we we want to check out new places all the time.
Just say Chris was.
Speaker 4
Cool, we say.
Yeah, the.
Speaker 1
Nicest hardcore venue in the world.
Speaker 4
It's like weird, bad.
Then you like trash it up a little bit.
Speaker 1
The private event hall.
Speaker 4
Yeah.
Speaker 5
It's not that.
Speaker 3
I mean, it's clean, but it's not like that off.
Speaker 5
Putting it used to be.
Speaker 4
I went there once and it was like spotless bro.
I was like, had a party.
Speaker 3
Yeah, I don't know.
There was like, I think it was just because there's a lot of people in there just looked like, no, it's like a show.
Speaker 4
Yeah, well the lights are off.
It looks better when the lights are on.
It's just like wedding, let's say a wedding, bro.
It's all fucking white in there.
We're.
Speaker 3
Excited to go to Brooklyn now just to check it out.
I mean, I saw the place.
It looks like cool is.
Speaker 4
It a stage.
What is it?
Golden sound?
Yeah.
Band I played with.
Yeah, you play there.
I booked.
Speaker 5
There.
Oh, OK.
Speaker 4
Is it cool?
Play.
Speaker 2
There.
Wait, what's it like over there?
Speaker 1
When was there booked another band to play there?
Speaker 4
Yeah, it sure doesn't clear XR played there.
It's a band that like the Witch plays with and all right, we played with them.
Speaker 3
Once cool, we got market.
Speaker 8
Hotel, it'll be safe.
Speaker 6
That's a fucking cool spot.
Speaker 4
You ever see that place, which place Marco Hotel Marco was on?
Not It's in Brooklyn.
It's like right behind a like subway track.
Speaker 6
What neighborhood is it?
I have no clue.
Speaker 4
But there's a window behind where you play and you see the train pass by and shit who's sick.
I saw where we saw in Cain saw Catalyst first, Self and Olf really other.
Speaker 1
Bands St.
Vitus.
We go back for you guys too.
St.
Vitus in Brooklyn, it's.
Speaker 4
A kind of.
Speaker 1
Big venue.
It's a good thing about size venue in a Brooklyn.
A lot of huge bands go through there.
Speaker 4
That's cool.
That's like that one place something lounge.
Oh, the Mercury Lounge.
Speaker 1
Yeah.
Speaker 3
Yeah, Marco Hotel was sick though There was like.
Speaker 7
2.
Speaker 1
1000 dude.
Speaker 3
I just packed out.
Speaker 4
The stone pony, the.
Speaker 1
Stone pony you.
Speaker 3
Know they don't pony you.
Ever.
Speaker 1
Play there.
I play there.
Speaker 4
Yeah.
So you play there once, I think.
Speaker 3
They don't like moshing.
Speaker 1
No moshing.
Speaker 3
No moshing, no moshing.
Oh man, I don't know if we could play there.
I mean, don't don't quote me on that faces.
No.
Speaker 4
Bro, just play outside is fun.
Speaker 3
Yeah, what about?
Yeah, is the.
Speaker 1
Yeah, yeah, just put in.
They got yelled at for because they actually threw people out because they started monitoring regicide.
Speaker 3
That's I don't know what else he would do.
Speaker 4
Right.
Never.
I've never talked or seen regicide in my life.
Speaker 3
I saw them with.
Speaker 4
Never.
I mean, I feel like I don't know what.
Speaker 9
Building they were at.
Speaker 4
The drummer was at an all around show that we went to on Halloween at Mom's.
Speaker 3
Basement and he played.
Speaker 4
And he played, Damn it.
Yeah, he did play.
Damn it.
Wow, that's the only memory on this.
That's the only time I've seen the drummer that anyone from Red Side was that moment.
Speaker 3
I've seen.
Speaker 1
The.
Speaker 4
No, isn't Dan in that band?
Yeah, drums.
Yeah, no, I've never seen them.
Speaker 3
Oh no.
I've seen red side of V locker but I don't.
Speaker 2
Think I've ever.
Speaker 3
One time, I don't know who else they were playing with, but I know I saw them there.
I remember the singer was wearing AI hate God shirt.
He looked like Phil and Selma.
Speaker 8
And now?
Speaker 3
He was wearing the same exact shirt.
He looked just like him, but.
Speaker 8
Yeah.
Speaker 3
I think that's the only time I ever saw regicide.
Speaker 2
Yeah, I I I haven't seen.
Speaker 4
Those There's a lot of bands I didn't know that, like, we're up here.
Speaker 2
I think I've listened to them, you know.
Speaker 4
What I mean?
Speaker 3
I saw.
Speaker 4
Like metal bands.
Like the bands that we played with had no fucking clue that they were from up here.
Like The Locker, the ones we've just played with, though.
Speaker 3
They were from around here.
Speaker 4
Well, the one bands from Morristown, the last one actually.
Speaker 1
Yeah, a lot of bands are from like New Brunswick area, like Oh yeah, yeah, Every day I find new bands coming like like, oh, you've been a band for like 15 years.
Speaker 4
Like, yeah, fucking that.
Like, where where were you?
Oh.
Speaker 3
That's I saw negative.
Speaker 4
I mean, that's like probably us too though.
Speaker 3
Yeah, I want to play with negative force.
I saw them at the meat locker.
They pull a good.
They get the crowd like.
Speaker 4
They're there, like, all the time.
Speaker 2
Bro dude, chemical X is pretty fire.
Speaker 4
Yeah.
Speaker 2
They're pretty sick.
Speaker 5
Amazing dudes I've seen.
Speaker 2
Those guys have seen them once you.
Speaker 1
Haven't come the meat locker.
Why is something coming up December 23rd?
Speaker 2
And January?
Oh, day after our show, 23rd.
What day is that?
The Saturday or Sunday?
That's a Saturday.
We should go.
Speaker 4
And Saturday?
Never the Joe Grizzly.
Never fucking seen them either.
So I've seen Joe Grizzly.
That's our first show with them.
Yep, we played with What's the Blonde?
Speaker 2
One trauma that was our first show we play with.
Speaker 4
We play with them.
Who else is playing that show?
Speaker 3
Did we play with fun girls?
Awful.
We play.
We play with fun.
Speaker 1
Girls Waffle House with 1000 corpses blood.
Speaker 2
Trauma Redwoods.
Speaker 1
Redwoods gutter violence, do you guys?
Speaker 4
That's nice.
Oh yeah, that's the 22nd show.
But.
Speaker 1
That was the story.
I have an audience.
Speaker 2
The first show?
Oh yeah, that was the first What's.
Speaker 4
The second show Who else do penis?
Redwoods, that's who it is.
Go penis.
Yeah, and redwoods.
Speaker 1
Blood trauma, Yes, that's right.
Speaker 4
Always forget about go penis.
My bad, bro.
But they're like with redwoods in my brain because they're always together.
Yeah, So it's just like.
Speaker 1
Didn't help it.
Speaker 8
Like, Oh yeah, go penis.
Speaker 1
Just join redwoods.
Speaker 3
Yeah, forgot about their like.
Speaker 2
They're just together, the bass player is.
Speaker 3
No guitar player with us?
Yeah, yeah, hell yeah.
I.
Speaker 1
Get the monsoon I need to go penis on the podcast The DX Go Penis Glove.
Speaker 4
You gotta get all them in a room, bro.
You wouldn't get anything done.
Oh.
Speaker 2
Man it.
Speaker 1
Would just be 4 hours of nonsense.
Speaker 5
Pretty much.
Speaker 4
You know who would be fucking yapping, bro?
Oh yeah, Fucking chained.
I hope you're listening.
Speaker 2
Don't shut the fuck up.
Speaker 4
No, that's funny.
I think it's funny.
Oh yeah?
Yeah.
Speaker 1
They're talking about the Monster Energy like half the.
Speaker 4
Yeah, I'm sure he was, Brad.
Speaker 3
Yeah, he's got the on his car.
Speaker 2
Dude, remember he immediately he wanted to challenge me to a foot race after.
Speaker 3
Everything.
Did you?
You kicked his ass.
Speaker 2
But like, he could run fast as Fox.
Speaker 1
Though.
Speaker 2
It was so dark.
It was like in the middle of the.
Speaker 9
Fucking Elmer, dude.
It was.
Speaker 2
Like silent hell, dude.
It was like kind of scary out can.
Speaker 1
You see in front.
Speaker 3
Of you?
No, it's literally rocking.
Speaker 4
The Tinus.
Everyone's rocking Tinus.
Speaker 2
Yeah.
Speaker 4
Everyone's rocking Tinus and Elmer because it's cold.
Speaker 2
Shit figured out.
Figure it out.
Speaker 1
What are some venues in the future you guys want to play out?
Speaker 3
Everywhere.
Yeah, everywhere in the greater tri-state area.
Speaker 4
Unless it's outside.
Speaker 6
Yeah.
Speaker 4
That's everyone though.
I feel like everyone's fucking LA.
Speaker 1
Stadium.
Speaker 2
Hell yeah.
Speaker 3
Man, but I will say because I saw who more meat lockers who opened for Blink.
Speaker 8
There was a fucking.
Speaker 6
Turnstile.
Speaker 3
Turnstile.
Like, I agree with a lot of shit I've seen about, like the complaints because like turnstile is dope and like when you see their old shows, like in the small venues, it's like sick.
But like when I saw them with Blink, it's a whole big stadium and it's like everyone's just like that's.
Speaker 4
Just weak, dude you.
Speaker 1
Can't.
Speaker 4
Watch and see it.
That's why I saw would be cool.
Speaker 3
Because like you said, met who?
I don't know who said MetLife, but like stuff like that, it's like, I don't know if it would even be that dope.
Speaker 8
You know Brooklyn Steel.
Speaker 3
Dude, Brooklyn Steel.
Speaker 4
It's weird.
I saw Sunny Day Real Estate at the Brooklyn Steel and I can like here, not even from the speakers.
I could just hear the drums, like they were also coming through the speakers, but I could hear them.
It was like, weird.
I was like, why isn't that so loud?
Speaker 7
Also, well, it's.
Speaker 3
Not weird coincidence.
Me and Adrian saw Sunny Day Real Estate on like, whatever day in September.
But then like an exact year later, we saw the Cannibal at the same place.
Speaker 4
Yeah, it's just on the same show of genre.
Yeah, huge.
And I met the guitar player.
He was just standing outside on his phone.
Speaker 3
The drummer from.
Speaker 4
Yeah, dude, he was standing outside.
He was like on a flip phone and like he was just talking there.
He was like, it was barrel and he had like a ponytail.
And then I just like went up to him and like gave him a fist bump.
And I was just like, why is no one coming up to this guy you?
Speaker 1
Got a flip phone?
Yeah bro, I guess.
Speaker 4
Yeah, and then yeah, the meshuga drummer was just standing outside.
No one even recognized until he went up to the balcony.
Speaker 3
People started then, someone said.
Speaker 4
Something.
But yeah, what's?
Speaker 2
His name, He's European, right?
He's just got a longish name or something.
I'll butcher.
I don't want.
Speaker 3
To.
But as far as venues, yeah, Brooklyn still would kick ass.
Hell yeah, dude.
But yeah, fucking anywhere fucking sick.
That's within Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York.
Speaker 4
Philly Well, unless it's a.
Speaker 2
Tour somewhere in Philly would be.
Speaker 3
Cool.
Or a tour, Yeah.
Speaker 4
Oh, the, the church.
The first.
Yeah.
Yeah, my Peter goes there a lot.
Speaker 2
My Peter goes.
Speaker 4
There a lot, Peter.
I'll just say my friend Peter, Peter, he goes there a lot because Drexel's right there.
Speaker 3
Yeah, that would be fucking if it's what I think you're talking about.
Yes, it looks sick in there.
Speaker 4
There's so many, so many fucking old videos like old e-mail bands that I would watch are there.
Saw Shit's cool.
I think Ashley Park has.
Speaker 1
Something like that too.
Speaker 4
The bowling alley.
Oh, yeah.
You ever go to that bowling alley?
Did you ever go to the pizza place in New Brunswick?
Speaker 1
It's like, did you make it 1?
Speaker 4
I don't know, take an arcade in the back and there's like, I saw algorithm there there, that'd be a cool.
Speaker 1
Place oh wait, talking about zucchinis.
Speaker 2
Was playing at Danny's some?
Speaker 4
Italian.
Speaker 1
It's even a miles like.
Speaker 4
Spanish.
No, not there.
I know that too.
I'd be sick.
That's a cool.
Speaker 6
Place is that place that you saw.
Speaker 3
Catalyst even a venue or.
Speaker 4
No, we saw Catalyst.
You know, Passaic, there's that warehouse that you could practice in.
Yeah.
You ever go there?
Speaker 1
They played.
Speaker 4
There, they played there.
That's where I saw Catalyst and Mesonera or Mesonera, I don't know, say the name.
Speaker 1
I'm a fucking It was a very intimate crowd.
Speaker 4
It was literally the hottest fucking thing I've ever been to my life.
It was like the middle of summer.
Speaker 2
Oh God.
Oh yeah, you.
Speaker 4
They were going to play at Salty's, but they didn't let people under 21 and for that show for some reason they're like not fucked that.
So they went there.
It was like the last.
It was like some last minute show and they.
Speaker 1
Probably.
Speaker 4
Do a promoter, yeah.
Speaker 2
You remember you showed me a picture of you after that show?
It looked like you woke up from like an after school.
Speaker 4
Now.
Oh, that's.
Speaker 3
The That was the second time you look.
Speaker 4
Like that's the second time.
Oh.
Speaker 2
That wasn't that show.
Speaker 3
No, that was the different that was the 2nd.
Speaker 4
Time There's a there's a video of me and Magnus standing at that catalog show the first one and we're just like.
Speaker 2
Dude, your eyes?
Really.
Speaker 3
Popping out of your head?
You're in the footage.
Speaker 4
Right.
Yeah, I just see myself and I see a bunch of pictures.
Yeah, I'm just like.
Speaker 3
Yeah.
But we're trying to kind of get to that level like where like we're always just we're trying to build it up because like when we saw Catalyst, it was like sick.
It was, it felt like one of our shows because they were just we were online waiting to get in there, just outside talking and like he, Adrian talking to them.
Speaker 4
Because I've talked to them once before.
Speaker 3
They were just chilled.
The drummer was chilling on the stairs with us on the way up but like I don't know it like it just felt like one of our and we and but there was like.
Speaker 8
Packed 2.
Speaker 3
Thousand or more people.
Speaker 4
Let's go first.
Self.
I mean Catalyst could have got.
Speaker 3
That too, but it's like.
Speaker 4
The fact that first self was here.
Speaker 3
And I mean.
Speaker 4
Coast because they never, I don't think they really ever come over here.
Speaker 3
We're trying to just like expand, you know?
Speaker 4
Like, it doesn't matter where we play as long as, like, I feel like you just get a cool crowd and everyone's like, cool.
I just like being the shit out of each other.
Speaker 3
You're.
Speaker 1
Spanning the Skasm Empire.
Speaker 3
That's like how we pretty much judge if, like the venues are worth coming back to or not.
If people, if people are allowed to get crazy and and they get crazy, then it's cool, you know?
Speaker 4
They're bloody.
Speaker 1
Gets these, Yeah, we've.
Speaker 4
Had approval.
Speaker 3
Yeah, seeing people get, like, actually fucked up, it's like, whoa.
Speaker 2
Rick a sweat or get punched?
Yeah, something.
Speaker 4
Yeah, we've seen a lot of bloody people after we play.
It's kind of funny.
Then somebody did.
Then Juan get his fucking lip off.
Yeah, yeah, dude.
Speaker 3
He got a busted lip.
Speaker 2
Dude, yeah, Juan from Gutter.
Speaker 3
Got a Juan Hope?
Speaker 2
Somebody has spikes on in the pit and he got fucking hit right in the face with one of those spikes he got nailed right in the lip, I think, Right.
Yeah.
He's like, what's up?
Like right after our set, he's like good set.
And I was like.
Speaker 3
I remember seeing Dan for like a while.
He was like going to shows for a long time.
He saw him with his jacket, like the studded jacket.
He was like, didn't he?
Wasn't he like one of our used up shows?
Speaker 4
He was in Oh.
Speaker 8
Yeah, he's.
Never mind.
Speaker 4
I don't know who was he, he his name.
Speaker 2
What was that guy's name?
Marcello or whatever.
That kid in the fucking Garfield cast?
Or.
Speaker 1
Whatever.
Speaker 2
Remember, he was reporting us.
Speaker 4
Off they went out to you guys.
Speaker 3
Oh yeah.
Speaker 2
Yeah, he had a nasty guy out of his.
Speaker 4
Face or something he.
Speaker 2
Was like this happened during your set I.
Speaker 4
Love you.
Oh, so I love.
Speaker 1
Moo and Dan, though.
Yeah, dance.
Speaker 4
Pool.
Yeah.
No, he's fucking.
That's like the first person I talked about, like metal drum shit with, I feel like are.
Speaker 3
You thinking about over there in town?
Speaker 5
Yeah, what was the question?
Speaker 1
What's the venue you want to play in the future?
Speaker 5
I don't know.
There's this one that I went to.
My uncle, we saw the OC was in Queens, I believe.
I.
Speaker 3
Can't think of the name.
Speaker 5
But there was.
Speaker 4
Little.
Speaker 5
Downstairs and she made, she made a kielbasa.
And yeah, dude, it was for like, that was the food.
Speaker 3
Oh, I thought you meant like she was just like.
Speaker 5
Oh, she lives like above it, and it's just fire.
Speaker 4
You got to play the fucking Prudential, bro.
No.
But when the Devils play.
Speaker 1
Oh bro.
You seen those videos, bro?
Ocean Illusion did that shit, was it fucking hobbies?
Fucking like throwing down, dude.
Speaker 4
Was that one pinch?
Speaker 3
Dude, we could.
I feel like we could kick ass.
That fucking devils.
Speaker 1
Oh yeah, he's got to sell a whole section of seats.
Speaker 4
It's like.
Speaker 1
Pay for that shit.
Whole section of teeth.
So if you.
Speaker 5
Got by a whole section?
Yeah.
Speaker 1
It's kind of if you got hockey fans, friends.
I mean, we got a lot of hockey.
Speaker 3
People in Ringwood?
Oh yeah, we're from.
We're from Ringwood, NJ, by the way.
Double.
Speaker 5
Game all of us.
Speaker 4
Kyle likes.
Speaker 6
Rangers.
Never.
Speaker 4
Minded.
I was talking about that shit.
He was like, no bro.
Speaker 2
Just like a Devils fan by default.
I don't really, I.
Speaker 3
Don't watch.
I'm going to watch.
Speaker 2
Too much, but I enjoy it.
Speaker 5
Like if I watch it Rangers.
Speaker 3
Are like that casual enjoyer.
Speaker 4
Devils are cool.
I don't like fuck either.
They're both tri-state.
Fuck The Jets.
Go fuck yourself.
Tyler.
Giants.
I'm a Giants.
I'm a Giants, bro.
Hey, bro, Hey, Tommy's broken.
Speaker 1
The veto, bro.
Speaker 3
That's fucking surprised, bro.
Yeah, I.
Speaker 1
Know when he got signed in May, I was like.
Speaker 4
Yo, this guy, he's from Cedar Grove, dude.
Speaker 3
He's from.
He went to Bosco, bro.
Speaker 4
Hey, from Cedar.
Speaker 3
Dude, Don Bosco's like 20 minutes.
Speaker 5
Ago, dude, we went to high.
Speaker 4
School with his friends were like his brother.
That's.
Speaker 1
What?
I'm sure the veto family.
Speaker 4
Yeah, I was just like what we got pulled over into Cedar Grove after that, that V locker show in.
Speaker 1
Cedar.
Speaker 9
Grove, oh.
Speaker 4
That's Cedar Grove.
Speaker 3
That's Cedar Grove.
Yeah, that was a nice, yeah.
Speaker 4
Pull over.
So fucking break close out.
Speaker 1
Easy.
Whenever you're pulled over for a break, life.
Probably not anymore.
Speaker 4
Or maybe the copy will go get some tickets, bro.
Yeah.
Speaker 3
Fax get.
Speaker 4
Some tickets moving.
Speaker 1
It was a person.
You know The person, too.
I remember that man.
So what really makes you guys, like, want to, like, be in a man?
Damn.
Speaker 2
No, I guess that goes to like the same responses, like the responses we get for playing out live.
Like I like seeing people go nuts.
That's like a driving force.
It's cool to make people do that with your music.
And like, it's getting to the point now where like like Shane from Redwoods, he loves that one song.
We have VHS and he knows the words.
So he'll come up and grab the mic during their set and sing it like that's cool as fun.
Like, I love that shit, but.
Speaker 4
Angel too, bro.
I can see.
I can see after.
We've been playing with them a couple times.
Angel fucking he's like, knows the ports.
Speaker 2
He's like Angel from Gutter, he'll fucking like.
Speaker 4
Ghost.
Speaker 1
Hands up.
Speaker 2
Shit, the fucking.
And we had him come up and just, you know, geek out on stage with us too for our last song, The One Night or at the Seven Crest, right?
That's when he did that.
But I don't know, I love that stuff.
That's just cool.
Just seeing everybody's reaction and watching everyone get nuts and actually hearing what we record, That's cool.
Speaker 6
Yeah.
Speaker 2
That's cool.
Speaker 4
Just liking it.
Speaker 2
Everything is awesome.
Speaker 4
Liking it's cool.
Liking it.
Speaker 3
Like you actually like it.
Speaker 4
Liking it, liking it and then being like oh fuck, that's sick.
I don't even know how to play that, hey.
Speaker 2
Just like making that shit's don't want to hear it's.
Speaker 4
Like I've been fucking it's.
Speaker 8
Progressing.
Speaker 4
Hello bro.
I couldn't do like half the shit I could do now, like a couple months ago.
Speaker 2
Man's like a praying mantis on the kid.
Speaker 4
Yeah, I don't fucking but like just like I'm like a fucking spaz.
So being able to like play like fast shit, so I have like so much energy, it's nice.
And then I'm like, spent after we play, I'm just fucking dead.
Speaker 2
Can't breathe.
Speaker 4
Yeah, too.
I'm always fucking out of breath.
Speaker 2
Yeah, we started playing with pantyhose for our first few shows, like we were pulling those over our heads and then we were like, all right, we're going to retire those for a little.
It's hard to breathe in that and that's like real tight to your face and it's got some flow, but you just after a while, it's too much.
I can't.
Speaker 4
Do it.
That's fucked.
I can't even breathe that off.
Speaker 2
No, like gutter.
I could see how they do the ski masks because they got the the mouth hold, that's.
Speaker 6
Just.
Speaker 2
You can still breathe.
That's crazy.
You still breathe, man.
Pantyhose Bro help.
Speaker 1
Everybody can't hold the mouth, yeah.
Speaker 4
Yeah, I don't know.
Yeah, I guess it's just liking, liking it and seeing the seeing the people, like just fucking hop around or just anyone that's like remembers like your face or just making friends, they're just like, oh, you're in this band.
I fucker remember you.
Like, that's always weird to me when it's like you always see some person we guess are making fucking shit because I want to see people like Random in the wild with this like, skasm shirt on or some shit.
Yeah, go.
Speaker 1
To Maryland?
You're like, wait, what?
Speaker 4
The fuck this guy's, Yeah.
Speaker 2
Like we need to know we made a mark, yeah.
Speaker 4
Just really, that's just on the fucking print down in Jersey, I guess.
Even if it doesn't explode, as long as it's like consistent, as long as I can go on tour about eventually.
Speaker 1
That's the goal.
Speaker 4
That's really them cool.
I don't care what happens, just like as long as that I feel it's all you got to do.
And then?
Speaker 1
People just store the world.
Try the the message.
Speaker 4
Do that.
I feel like you do that.
Then you kind of have.
That's like putting the work in, and then people start to like, like you more.
It's also like social media shit.
But like, I don't know.
That's really it.
Just like, yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 3
It's I love being able to have something to always do, like music.
It's just like always, like whenever I'm bored, I could always, like, text you any, any one of these guys, talk about whatever.
I don't know, like I'm always on the phone with this motherfucker talking about random shit, just like being with my buddies.
It's cool.
Just like after, like after high school.
I don't know.
I don't know what any of my other, like, friends like.
I know you still talk to Brendan and a bunch of people, but, like, I don't know what anyone else is up to.
But like, I'm always with these guys known for a while.
I don't know.
It's cool to, like, keep in touch.
Speaker 2
Yeah, it's a good point, actually.
I don't know why I left that out.
No.
Yeah, it's like one of the best parts, actually.
Speaker 3
It's like the boys, yeah, seeing every.
I've just like been able to like keep up over the years and like seeing everyone do their shit.
It's like dope.
See where we're at now with this band shit and like, yeah, what Adrian was saying, like to go.
If we got a tour, that would be like, that's like pretty kind of the ultimate goal.
Speaker 2
And we know we can bunk in together for a couple weeks because we've sort of done it before, you know.
And we're comfortable with each other to the point where it's like we're brothers.
You know, we say what we need to to get across to one another, never any bad blood.
We have our differences sometimes like everyone else, you know, it's but we're honest with each other.
That's the main goal And we never want like an issue.
So but like, yeah, that's why it works so well with all of us.
We're just.
Speaker 3
Being in band now, like, it's just sick.
I was like, I loved music for my whole life, but like, it just kept getting cooler.
Everything.
I found out more about music, like I was just in the school band and then I would like listen to like just whatever was on the radio.
And then I'd be like just looking into bands, finding more shit.
And I just kept getting more and more inspired by different groups over the years and just like really wanted like that.
Kind of.
Maybe not certain lifestyles, but like, I just wanted that kind of shit.
I don't know.
It was always just super cool to me to have your group of friends that you always just hang out with.
I don't know.
Yeah, it's dope.
Speaker 1
What the fuck are you talking about?
What do you like to create?
Speaker 5
Create.
Yeah.
Speaker 4
Your mustache.
Speaker 2
Yeah, you're 6 dash.
Speaker 4
Your obsession with beer.
Speaker 2
This is a go go Jason Miller.
Speaker 5
From what I listen to and then meeting these guys and like seeing what they played, so I can definitely get into that.
I did because I remember like you showed me Topsy and stuff and I was like like the fast stuff.
I like that's one.
Like when he when he lays down like a sick fucking fast drum beat, That's like when I'm like, yeah, that's when I want to fucking make something cool.
Speaker 2
And your base stuff sticks out nice too.
So it's not like when I'm explaining you go, you have an interesting way about it.
More groove?
Hell yeah, A.
Speaker 1
Lot of groove in there.
Speaker 2
Yeah, it was just cool because some of the stuff like staccato.
Yeah, especially with this figures.
Speaker 3
I don't think there's not a single song that doesn't have a groovy part or something.
Speaker 2
Even with something cool with the bass part in it, like it sticks out real nice.
Speaker 4
That's because I have ADHD and I fucking play 9 million different things.
Speaker 2
Yeah, that's another thing about our sound, I guess.
That's cool.
You know, we never hang on the same thing for too long.
It's always.
Speaker 3
Usually we switch it up a lot.
Speaker 2
Yeah, chop chop chop.
Like like live.
It's cohesive.
Don't.
Speaker 6
Do a bunch of different.
Speaker 1
Like it?
Don't make.
Speaker 4
Sense.
Yeah, but.
Speaker 1
It's a very fast pace, like moving like you go to another section.
Speaker 4
What about Live?
Speaker 3
Yeah, it looks like you always are like doing like some different.
Speaker 4
Shit.
Oh, I just add.
Speaker 2
Oh yeah, it's like a add in the flame.
Speaker 6
Just like fucking whatever.
Speaker 1
Oh, there.
There we go.
Flame.
Yeah.
Speaker 4
Bullshit where I think we're.
Speaker 2
Going to end it here.
Speaker 4
No, I don't.
I don't do that.
I'll forget like the new shit, like the one song I forgot, that's really no one I forgot.
Like it was like the end of the song And I was like, oh fuck.
Speaker 2
Oh yeah, we ended a little.
Speaker 4
Early, but there was my back into it.
Soon it.
Speaker 2
Was chill.
Nobody else knows but us.
Speaker 4
Well, I can't fucking hear anything.
You're the guess.
Oh, it's.
Speaker 1
The end, right?
Speaker 2
Yeah.
Speaker 4
It's like I'm just playing.
Hopefully they're playing the same show I'm playing.
Speaker 2
With those new ones, I usually try to make eye contact so you give you the look like for cues.
Sometimes I get.
Speaker 4
Lost I never.
I never.
Speaker 3
Ever thought about it Until the other day?
That must be so weird.
Speaker 6
You're just like.
Speaker 3
I'm just.
Speaker 9
Playing, I can hear it.
Speaker 4
Like a guess I I think I'm hearing it.
Like I think I'm just.
Speaker 3
You hear like the tail end of it, I think.
Speaker 4
I'm guessing.
I think.
I'm guessing what I'm hearing.
And I guess I'm hearing the right shit.
Speaker 1
Hear the highs.
Speaker 4
Yeah, so I think I'm just like, I'm just playing, so really just following me at that point or we're just all playing and hopefully it works out.
Speaker 1
So what are your guys goals for 2024?
Speaker 2
Maybe a local tour of some sort?
More music out for sure.
Speaker 4
Yeah, that's that's going to that's in the that's definitely.
Speaker 2
That's in play, yeah.
More.
Definitely.
More and more shows.
Lots of shows.
Speaker 3
Yeah, if we could hop on some sort of, yeah, like a local.
Speaker 2
Even Local tour would be sick.
I don't know how we'd go about that, but that would be awesome.
That show would be really cool.
Speaker 1
Talking to the.
Speaker 4
Talking to the booking company.
Speaker 1
I put something together.
Speaker 4
In the headquarters.
Speaker 6
Of the booking company.
Speaker 1
In the headquarters basement where we booked all the tours we went on, really was right, right here, pretty much.
He sat here down where, like, all right, how are we going to do this?
Speaker 4
Have you booked like other people's trip like?
Speaker 1
We did twice and both times the band broke up before the tour.
Speaker 3
I I'm not going to guarantee anything, but I'll promise you that's not going to.
Speaker 8
Happen.
Speaker 2
No, no way.
Speaker 1
They were just cursed.
Speaker 2
It's too good, man for us to it's going too well.
Speaker 3
Yeah, man.
I mean, we.
Speaker 4
Kind of do whatever we want.
Speaker 3
Yeah, we we fucking, Yeah, pretty much.
Speaker 4
I'm picky as fuck with fucking Benjamin and I get fed up really easily.
It's probably something fucking something wrong with me, but I just get fucking.
Speaker 2
You got a happy medium with this.
Speaker 4
Yeah, like you kind of just get to do whatever I.
Speaker 2
Want you really do have creative freedom.
Everyone does.
Speaker 3
Yeah, really, for the most part.
We really are.
We never all super happy with like what we get to do.
Speaker 4
It's like really easy compared to every other band that I've been in.
Speaker 2
Oh yeah, we never hold anyone back from doing anything.
Speaker 3
Not really.
Speaker 5
Really be?
Speaker 1
You.
Speaker 2
Pretty much.
Pretty much.
That's why it sounds the way it does too.
Speaker 4
And that's sometimes we like fucking picker about some.
Yeah, shit.
But.
Speaker 2
Certain well.
Speaker 1
That's.
Speaker 2
That's.
Speaker 4
Yeah.
Speaker 2
This just band shit.
Band ish.
I don't.
Speaker 4
Know every weird if that didn't happen, but yeah.
Speaker 1
Other than that, the guitar play from Eddie 5 play from Twist Sister told me.
How do you hate that?
That being in the band is that you're married to four other guys.
Speaker 4
Yeah.
Speaker 2
Pretty much.
Speaker 4
Hate your wife.
Speaker 3
Hate your 4.
Speaker 5
Wives.
Speaker 2
Put your wife in the chuckle.
Yeah, that's the name of.
Speaker 3
The new song Put Your Wife in the.
Speaker 2
Chair.
Speaker 1
So for 2024, what shows you guys got coming up or any like big announcements?
Speaker 2
Thing bats, I know for.
Speaker 3
Sure.
So far we got two I think.
Speaker 6
You should January.
Speaker 1
Semi Crest, I know you guys.
Speaker 4
Have 7 Crest, Yeah.
I haven't like fucking.
Speaker 1
January, I want to say 18th.
Speaker 4
We have 112th, we have the 12th January semi Crest, 18th semi Crest I.
Speaker 1
Got both though.
OK, nevermind, yeah.
Speaker 4
Got.
Then we got Dingbats the 7th.
Then we have the 22nd in December.
That's not 2020.
When's Brooklyn that I forgot?
Oh, that's the 13th.
Speaker 2
That's in January.
That's the 13th.
Speaker 4
Yeah, that's the 13th right after the fucking ANOTHER show.
Let me get We're on the fucking Nikki D fest.
Speaker 1
Oh, yes.
Speaker 4
You did you.
I don't know if that's what's going on, but hell yeah, you.
I remember talking about it.
Speaker 3
Is that on 4/20?
Speaker 4
No, that's that's.
Speaker 1
That's the day three of the Day Fest.
That's on day two I.
Speaker 4
Was going to say that's the 19th?
Speaker 1
Yeah.
Speaker 2
All the tsunami who's?
Speaker 4
On who's doing that?
Speaker 1
A big surprise, I'll tell you after the fog.
Yes.
Hell yeah.
I can't wait to line.
Speaker 4
Up.
Yeah, No, it's big surprise not.
Speaker 1
Not that huge.
Speaker 4
So big surprise.
Speaker 1
I guess it's.
Speaker 2
Kind of big as you're.
Speaker 3
Saying bro, is it the bog?
Speaker 1
I wish bro, that'd be crazy with the 1st all my friends.
Speaker 5
Hell yeah.
Speaker 4
Gangster Oh, yeah, yeah, I.
Speaker 1
Looked everyone I liked in the scene with my friends.
Speaker 2
That's cool.
Thanks.
I was like thank you.
Appreciate it.
Speaker 1
All the bands I looked on like, holy shit, you guys are fucking amazing.
Speaker 2
Yeah, We got a question for you.
What did you what did you think of us first couple of times you saw us?
Speaker 1
By my thoughts, I gotta go back to really honest, go back to August, you could.
Speaker 2
Say we sound like shit.
That's.
Speaker 1
Fine, I sounded like.
Speaker 3
Yeah.
Speaker 1
Yeah, it's like.
Speaker 2
Appreciate that.
Oh yeah.
Speaker 1
I never I never realized this till like like more recently.
But I booked a lot of bands like first shows.
Speaker 8
Dude.
Speaker 1
Pincushion for a show.
Rolling death machines for a show.
Speaker 2
We just played with them, yeah, Rolling death machine.
They're pretty sick.
Speaker 4
Pincushion is called like acid Beth.
Speaker 3
Kind of, yeah.
Our first show outside of Rigwood used up on Alden Show No.
Speaker 1
That was that was your house, wasn't.
Speaker 3
It no, that's outside of.
Speaker 7
Like it was.
Speaker 6
Greg's house, well.
Speaker 3
Yeah, but like I'm saying, just Greg's house.
But like, once we went out and actually played a show, I think it was like it was Claremont, it was.
Speaker 4
Our first show?
No, that wasn't our first.
Speaker 3
Show Oh no.
Speaker 1
You guys used up I think the first time I saw you guys was at the in traded city.
Speaker 8
Oh yeah, we already did a bunch of shit.
I'm stupid.
Speaker 1
You get pop punk fest.
Speaker 3
Yeah.
Speaker 1
That's a wee lob here.
I remember that.
That was January 2023.
Holy shit, that was January 20.
Speaker 3
Three.
Damn.
Speaker 1
But a lot of changes here.
Speaker 3
Yeah, dude.
Speaker 4
It's crazy that pretty fast.
That was like, I think that was our last show.
That was really wow.
Yeah, it's on YouTube.
Speaker 1
Too.
Speaker 3
Oh no, That's why I thought that because we saw all around like before, like we did a lot of stuff with you, stuff we want to see all around it, the.
Speaker 1
Distillery Oh yeah, that final girl.
Speaker 4
Show we met.
All of them met like Chris and Tony actually meant Matt too.
And then we were like, oh, we're the pop up man.
And then I think we played, I think that show.
Speaker 1
Yeah, it was August 2022.
Speaker 2
Before Wow man.
Speaker 1
It was with these.
Speaker 4
Yeah, you guys all.
Speaker 1
Around conquer Will.
Speaker 4
Yeah.
Speaker 1
Yeah, and the witch.
Speaker 4
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
That wasn't any yet, though.
Speaker 1
Yeah.
Speaker 4
Yeah, wow.
It was like, right after that.
I was like, right.
Speaker 2
I totally forgot they traded off on drones, Josh.
And yes, I always forgot about that.
Speaker 4
What was it?
I'm trying to think, Oh yeah, then you guys played reverse.
Yeah.
And that was my that was my first show with the Witch was that Thing.
That show, That show was fucking packed.
Speaker 1
And that was you guys, us young and doomed.
Oblivion.
Oblivion.
Speaker 4
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's a cool show.
Speaker 1
That was crazy.
We got interviewed second last reverse.
Speaker 4
Show we got interviewed.
Speaker 1
Oh yeah, the.
Speaker 4
Guy, I always did not.
I think I said like 2 words.
Speaker 1
And.
Speaker 4
Then what's his name?
Steve does.
Speaker 1
The camera.
Speaker 4
Guy Sing.
Speaker 1
No, that's easy.
Oh yeah.
Speaker 4
He was.
He was in sand.
Yeah.
Did he do, did he go to think that's.
Do you see anymore?
Yeah.
Oh yeah.
Speaker 1
Just on tour with Dancing A.
Speaker 4
Lot.
Yeah.
My mom went to high school with him and like, they went to everyone.
Speaker 1
In Mr., Dancing is local.
Speaker 4
Yeah, well, no, she went to high school with Doyle.
Yeah, Doyle, She her.
He dated fucking my mom's friend.
He was like, older.
Speaker 2
I met Steve at an old story used to work.
Speaker 4
At Yes Stevens, in my mom's grade, they were fucking.
That's crazy.
Yeah, did.
Speaker 5
I have my work.
Glenn Danzig is.
Speaker 1
His uncle, your your cowarder, is Glenn Danzig.
I was like, why he's a nephew.
Speaker 3
I'm the.
I'm the only one with no connection to the misfits.
Speaker 1
You know that with factions, yeah.
Speaker 3
Yeah, 6° of misfits.
Speaker 1
Everyone in New Jersey somehow knows one of the misfits.
Speaker 2
This is true.
Speaker 1
You just don't know it.
Speaker 2
This is true.
Speaker 4
And then you pretty much know like Black Flag.
Speaker 2
Yeah.
Speaker 3
And then you know, like.
Speaker 1
All you know is my.
Speaker 3
Dad's everywhere, bro.
Speaker 4
Yeah, you know everyone bro, at that point.
Speaker 2
Yeah.
Speaker 4
Pretty much friends with everyone you're.
Speaker 2
Friends.
Same thing with like that.
You're friends?
Speaker 3
With Aussie bro.
Speaker 2
In the New York scene, everyone was in each other's bands.
Speaker 3
Yeah, the good nights per southeast.
Speaker 1
It wasn't this pain to play in the bar, right?
The guy used to be.
Speaker 2
In that guy used to be accountable.
Yeah, that guy used to play in Solstice.
Speaker 4
Wasn't skinless like crunches at those dudes?
Speaker 2
Suffocation, too, is like internal bleeding, like those two bands.
I'm pretty.
Speaker 4
Sure were like who's?
Speaker 2
In that from suffocation, I think, yeah.
Mortician too, Yeah, I think Frank used to be.
Speaker 4
In one day from Yonkers.
From Yonkers.
Speaker 2
I'm talking shit I don't know, but I know internal bleeding and suffocation have.
Speaker 4
Where skin skinless is just.
I don't know where they're from.
New York I don't.
Speaker 2
Know skinless?
Oh, they're so sick too.
Speaker 4
That's that dude told us that the sound clips were like.
Speaker 2
Skinless.
Like, skinless, yeah?
Speaker 4
And I was like, yeah, pretty much we're calling for not going for, but.
Speaker 2
That's also another cool thing about the shows, you know, watching the people's faces.
Speaker 4
Yeah, we don't.
I don't.
Speaker 2
They're just so out there.
Speaker 4
There's no bands that we've played with that have the sound.
Speaker 2
Clips.
No, it's cool.
Speaker 4
Which is worth doing it, because fucking we like seeing people get awkward.
Yeah, Do you?
Speaker 3
Pick.
Do they really?
I like turn around.
Most of the time I don't even look at.
Speaker 4
Them.
Oh, it's so awkward dude.
It's really hilarious.
They're like wow, they just like stand.
I mean, think about Mortician.
When they're playing those like 4 minute long ones, you're just like.
Speaker 5
Yeah.
Speaker 4
That riff?
Yeah, you're like waiting.
Speaker 2
Oh, that riff.
It's coming, right?
No, not there.
Speaker 4
You're just waiting, bro.
Like, all right.
Speaker 6
I get it.
Speaker 4
I try to make them short.
Speaker 2
Our samples are short.
Speaker 3
I don't think they't think the longest one's like 1516 seconds, 30 seconds.
Speaker 6
Is it 30?
Speaker 4
I think crotch.
Speaker 2
Next goal is to get the bass drops out on on stage.
Speaker 1
I need a song and have like the Subway Surfers in the background.
I had a band do that for Stomach, Chris.
Speaker 4
Behind one band.
Speaker 2
Did we have Family Guy or no?
We had a.
Speaker 1
Butthole.
Speaker 4
Yeah, I was like, I don't know if that's going to fly.
Speaker 1
I'm kind of work with the image and I'm like what do you mean?
What's wrong about it?
Show this to me.
I'm like, what's wrong with it?
He was an asshole and I'm like, oh OK.
I mean honestly, if I couldn't even tell.
Speaker 2
Adrian and Tyler did that, like 10 minutes.
Speaker 3
Literally they did it like right outside they they just found the image and like.
Speaker 2
They sent it to somebody and then they.
Speaker 5
Upload guys are looking at.
Speaker 4
Buttholes outside we're looking at, but the lot of buttholes.
Speaker 2
Dude the perfect.
Speaker 4
One a lot of chick buttholes.
Really.
And then I looked up like, dude, but we looked up, We're looking at dude buttholes.
Speaker 2
Oh.
Speaker 4
Man, Oh yeah.
We're trying to look for the perfect bubble.
Yeah, we're trying to look for.
Speaker 3
And I think we found it, honestly.
Speaker 4
We look for.
We're looking for like, dirty ones.
Speaker 8
And then we found.
Speaker 4
Yeah, then we found just like some.
Speaker 2
What were we going to use?
We were going to use like the Family Guy, like ass kicking montage, right?
Like just Peter getting beat up or beating people up, right?
Speaker 3
Like the thing that you were going to put on the flyer?
Speaker 2
Yeah.
Speaker 3
Or like like in front of the flyer in the post, like the Family Guy thing.
Speaker 4
Already put it on there.
Speaker 3
Though well, yeah, but like, were we going to use?
Speaker 4
That no, I don't think we were we use that monkey that was on fire in the Apple store.
Speaker 2
Oh, all right.
Yeah.
Speaker 1
Oh yeah, you showed me.
Speaker 4
That, yeah, I should use that.
Speaker 2
Now that's, yeah, OK.
Speaker 4
Yeah, like, I don't know.
Fucking sound clips and the song names are funny to see people.
Like, yeah.
Speaker 1
The.
Speaker 2
Song titles are the best, dude.
That's the best part.
Speaker 1
I think I told Gutter Bounce the podcast what the picture was and they were like what?
And they did that.
And you know you'll never Unsee it now.
Speaker 5
They didn't know.
They didn't know.
Speaker 2
Oh wait, the new picture.
Speaker 1
No, the 7th.
Speaker 3
Grade oh, oh, oh.
Speaker 2
I thought he was talking about the album cover or something.
Yeah, I was like that.
Speaker 4
Shit, yeah, we just changed.
We just.
Speaker 2
Changed our art for.
Speaker 4
The album cover, That's OK, We'll.
Speaker 1
Show you it's sick.
Speaker 2
We.
Speaker 4
Were just fucking.
I don't know.
Speaker 2
Something I really collage, man.
Speaker 1
I would just grab this new EP as that coming out, that's going to be a little.
Speaker 2
Punishing.
Fucking gross.
Disgusting.
It's like, yeah.
Speaker 1
That's perfect way to describe.
Speaker 2
It it's so bad, it's good.
Speaker 3
No, I mean it's pretty like it's.
Speaker 2
Going to be some good shit, man.
I don't know.
I would need to.
Speaker 3
Listen to It's pretty technical.
Speaker 4
It's definitely, it's different from our new shit.
Yeah, I think we dumped down our new shit a little bit, but also at the same time made it heavy.
It's heavier, but also one of the songs is that we are new.
It's definitely fucking like heavier but kind of the same.
And then we just step up, but then we got just heavier after that.
But that it's still heavy, but it still has like we didn't really listen or like we were listening to Slam, but I feel like it's not as Slam.
Speaker 2
Yeah, it's not as prominent.
Speaker 4
There, it's there.
It's definitely like there's grooves.
There's like hardcore grooves and shit.
Speaker 2
Do you like the EP is more hardcore?
Speaker 4
Based It's death metal too.
A lot Death metal.
Yeah.
It's just hardcore death metal.
Yeah, I would say.
Speaker 3
Yeah, but it's fucking sick and you should listen to it.
Speaker 6
Oh yeah.
Speaker 1
Right now track did you the EP.
Speaker 3
Do you want to?
Do you want to hear the name of it?
First of the whole thing, The EP.
Speaker 2
With the whole track list.
Speaker 3
Or like the name of the EP.
Yeah, sure.
Yeah, it's called.
I Like the Skin Off.
Speaker 2
Oh yeah.
Speaker 6
Yeah, yes.
Speaker 2
What's your favorite song on TP, Tyler?
Speaker 5
Probably serving count.
Speaker 2
Serving count, that's a bit.
It's got to be.
That's a metric one.
Speaker 4
That was so.
Speaker 2
Fucking long.
That's our longest one.
Speaker 4
Yeah, how long is?
Speaker 1
It I hate playing.
Speaker 5
That one like for.
Speaker 3
3 minutes you don't.
Speaker 2
Like it?
I thought it was.
Speaker 4
Like, no, it's cool.
It's just fucking.
It's always last, which it has to be, I think.
Speaker 2
When we play it live, it's faster.
Speaker 4
It is because.
Speaker 2
Recorded.
I think it's like nearly 4 minutes.
Speaker 4
But no, that sounds right.
I like it's a good one.
I like it.
Speaker 2
No, I get you, man.
It's.
Speaker 1
I got to play this.
Speaker 2
Song it's like an epic.
There's like it's size and lows.
It takes you to different.
It's cool.
Speaker 1
Roller.
Speaker 2
Coaster for So yeah, I think my favorite song is Fecal Debris or a Crotch Rock.
I can't really pick between those two.
It's hard.
There's a lot of good parts in those songs, really slamming stuff in there, and I feel like that's where, like, the punishing shit comes from.
Like those few songs sound like that.
Speaker 4
I think monkey wheelchair porn, that one's fun.
I like that one.
It's like kind of like a grind song, kind of.
And then another one's cool shut that I feel like.
Speaker 2
Ten stories down is sick.
Speaker 4
Too.
I really like that anymore, I thought.
Speaker 2
That's what we just say Live.
Speaker 4
That's what it's called.
Speaker 2
That's really what it's called.
You guys are fucked.
Speaker 1
I thought we were going over this.
Speaker 2
I thought that's what you said when we were playing live.
Well, you know, just jump by Van Halen.
Speaker 1
It's written on the.
Speaker 2
Yeah.
So that way we know what to say.
Speaker 1
That's what we're going to call.
Speaker 2
It so you don't fuck up, That's.
Speaker 6
What it's called?
Speaker 2
Shot.
Yeah, that's what he knew.
Speaker 3
That's a real.
Speaker 2
Reaction.
I always love that, I thought.
Speaker 3
We went over this.
My bad OG.
Speaker 1
This is the real shit, that script I got.
Speaker 2
To come up with some wild song titles next.
Speaker 1
Time.
Speaker 3
I only we, I think we decided not to use 10 Stories down because Tsunami has a song called 10 Toes Down, yeah.
Speaker 2
I.
Speaker 3
Guess I don't know.
I feel like that's just like jump.
Speaker 1
By Van Halen is.
Speaker 3
The Greatest Jump by Van Halen is like no nothing.
There's a song called Jump and it's by Van Halen, but.
Speaker 1
There's a song called Jump by Van Halen.
Speaker 3
There lies the point.
Speaker 2
There's a song called One by Metallica.
Speaker 3
Yeah, yeah, no, I think my, I mean, I like playing serving con a lot, but like, I think the like most fun one to like jump around to and like fuck with is like monkey.
I think that's like, I think you know.
Speaker 4
It's pretty good one.
I like that.
Speaker 3
One the whole track list is.
This is not an order, but it's serving Con Monkey, Wheelchair Porn Jump by Van Halen Fecal debris, crotch rot, and.
Speaker 6
VHS.
Speaker 3
VHS that.
Speaker 4
One's fun.
I'm always tired when I play that song, though.
It's so much fucking.
Speaker 3
Yeah.
Speaker 4
Double kick, Yeah, the whole time.
It's just like.
Speaker 1
Like, how long do you like to just give out?
Yeah, it.
Speaker 2
Seems like a lot of people like it, but that song does get to me live.
Sometimes it, like almost pisses me off.
I like it.
Speaker 3
Especially when I have to sing over the people seem to like that.
They like that shit, though, that.
Speaker 4
Fucking shit, it's.
Speaker 2
Hard to ride, it matches with the.
Speaker 1
Riff, you got to focus in on it.
Yeah, lock in lock.
Speaker 2
It close my eyes.
Speaker 3
On the face that.
Speaker 2
Happy place.
Smell the fucking roses.
Chill out.
Speaker 4
I get their ones, bro.
The new ones.
The new names are funny too.
Speaker 2
They're pretty sick.
Yeah.
The new, I mean, I guess you could say the names if you want.
Yeah, sure.
Those are the way.
Speaker 4
No we could say them the working we're going like order of how we.
Speaker 2
I guess they're working titles.
Speaker 4
So the first, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2
Except for one.
Speaker 4
The one is I fuck with Lube.
That's the one song.
That's the first, like, new one we wrote.
Then the second one was, I think, Hemorrhoid 2.
Speaker 6
Like the sequel.
Yeah, the sequel.
Speaker 4
And then the third.
The last.
First.
Yeah, it's just it's funny but.
Speaker 1
That's a point.
Speaker 4
And then the the third, the third one sequel's always.
Speaker 1
Better.
Speaker 4
Yeah, it's the sequel's.
Speaker 2
Always better.
Right now, that's a pun.
Speaker 4
That's that's why I thought it was.
And then the third one we wrote is Mash Your Mound Monday.
Speaker 1
You.
Speaker 4
Know.
Speaker 3
Cats.
Cats in the movie.
Speaker 5
No mash.
Mash your mound Monday.
Speaker 9
OK.
Speaker 4
That's that's like the newest 1, Schmidt.
Speaker 2
Your beat.
Speaker 4
That one's fun.
That's like the slammiest one, I think.
Yeah, that's the most like the very one.
And then I feel like he.
Speaker 2
Actually wrote.
Speaker 3
That all drummer wrote the guitar.
Most of the most of the guitar riffs, yeah.
Speaker 2
This is.
Speaker 3
True, like all, but I think just that one.
Speaker 5
That one part of the and I came up.
Speaker 4
With yeah, but that was.
Speaker 3
Just like you advise you advised.
Speaker 4
That that was like, off of one thing I wrote.
He did the.
Speaker 8
Oh yeah.
Speaker 4
Yeah.
Speaker 2
Those are the new tracks.
Speaker 4
I like all those songs though.
Speaker 3
And we still are trying to write more, always write more.
Speaker 1
More songs.
Speaker 2
That's what it's all about.
Get heavier and heavier.
Speaker 3
You got to just have like the whole arsenal, you know, because like every band like that we love and like watch like old home videos of like any of that.
Speaker 5
Shit, they just kind of like.
Speaker 3
Songs and songs always playing, always just coming up with ideas, saving ideas like I don't know.
Speaker 1
There's always having like those ideas, the fresh ideas changing.
Honestly, you're at all times evolving sound.
Speaker 3
Yeah.
Speaker 1
Yeah, no matter what it is.
So why should people care about spasm?
Speaker 2
Tissue.
Why shouldn't they care about spasm?
Speaker 6
They should just go fuck yourself.
Yeah, they shouldn't.
Speaker 3
We're dope though, let's.
Speaker 2
Check it out.
Fuck you douchebag like hashtag.
Fuck you, douchebag I.
Speaker 4
Don't know because we didn't do anything to anyone.
So yeah, no.
Speaker 2
Yeah, I don't know.
We're we're cool dudes and we're just there to play and have a good time.
And I don't know.
We want nothing more than that.
Speaker 3
Yeah, I think that's like what it's about.
Like, I think you should follow a good vibe, you know, because, like, yeah, you always follow a good vibe.
Speaker 2
Yeah, that's that's actually a really good question.
I feel like there's like more to say to that too.
Speaker 3
Like, I don't like any of these bands.
I like, care about, like.
It's only because like it's mainly because of just like who they are and like how they act.
You know, like like what they're like doing what, why they're playing music.
Like, I don't know, I play.
I just play music to because I love music.
But like, no, I don't think anyone should like.
Speaker 4
They don't have to.
Speaker 3
Care.
Yeah, they don't have to care.
But I mean like.
Speaker 4
Yeah, it's funny that they would if they don't care.
Speaker 3
But follow.
Speaker 4
Something.
It's nice.
It's nice when someone cares.
Speaker 2
Yeah, it's good to make an impression on people.
Speaker 4
That's sure.
As long as, yeah.
Just care about people having fun.
Yeah, like spazzing out.
That's.
Speaker 5
Nice to say.
Speaker 1
Spazzing out the SCASM.
Speaker 3
Yeah, a lot.
Just like any other metal band.
It's not about like what the material is written about.
It's just like, it's about the the fun of it, you know?
It's all about like the the.
Speaker 1
Real SCASM was the friends who made along.
Speaker 3
The way Yeah, dude.
Speaker 4
Oh yeah, very pop punk.
Meaning to fucking behind the metal band.
Where the fuck we are?
I don't know where we are.
Speaker 2
Yeah, I don't know where we.
Speaker 4
Are am I allowed the curse on here?
I've been fucking blurring it out.
Speaker 2
There you go.
Speaker 4
I can't control myself.
Speaker 3
I don't.
I don't.
Speaker 1
I got no, no, I have a shitty man for that.
Speaker 4
Shitty.
I have a shitty mouth, dude.
I would totally if I was fucking like if I was, I don't even know if I was not not fucking raised without being allowed to curse, bro.
I had that soap in my mouth fucking all day.
I had that soap in my mouth.
Dude, you ever get the soap in your mouth?
Speaker 2
I have.
Speaker 3
I think once.
Speaker 4
You never got the soap in your mouth.
Dude, I got soap in my mouth once.
Speaker 6
That shit was ass.
I don't.
Speaker 2
Know what my mom would do is that.
Speaker 4
Was my dad.
Yeah, I got.
Speaker 6
This it never.
Speaker 4
Happened a lot, actually.
I don't think it was my mom, dude.
It was like someone's someone else's mom.
My mom like, soaked my mouth.
Dude, what?
I was like, what the?
Speaker 3
Fuck did you allow?
Speaker 4
That it was like my, my, it was my dad's, It was like my dad's friend that he grew up with, like his wife.
And I remember, I don't know, dude, I was totally just being a fucking asshole.
I don't even know I was.
Speaker 1
Just being in the mouth.
Speaker 4
Yeah, I was just being like probably just 280 HD and just spazzing out and fucking, just blurting shit out.
And then she was like.
Speaker 2
Fucking remember your mom would.
You said your mom would do the same thing my mom did.
She'd show her teeth and like, dig her nails in your arm.
Get the fuck over her.
Just.
Speaker 4
Sometimes a.
Speaker 1
Fucking.
Speaker 4
Around sometimes a face, bro.
You get the face and you're like.
Speaker 2
She stopped taking me to like, the food store at age like 8.
Yeah dude, I was such a pain.
Speaker 3
I used to go to the store and my mom dressed as a Batman.
Speaker 9
I like that was like bored and I.
Speaker 3
Was like, can I wear this?
She's like, yeah, yo, get well on the podcast.
Speaker 6
No, I don't trust.
Speaker 2
Them.
Yeah.
Oh yeah.
Speaker 1
So much people care about spasm.
What's your take on it?
Speaker 5
Kind of what they said, you know, we're just doing what?
Speaker 4
Feel unoriginal.
Speaker 5
Yeah, doing what we like amongst other people that do what they like to do, you know?
And we care for them.
We enjoy them.
They enjoy us.
Speaker 2
Yeah, it's worth a listen, for sure.
Speaker 4
Yeah, give it a shot, I guess, if you.
Speaker 2
The shows are always a good time, you know, I hope we never let anybody down.
Speaker 4
Never get a big time, anyone?
Speaker 2
