The NHL Season Has Begun (Endearing and Derogatory)
107m 43s
The episode explores the chaotic start of the NHL season, focusing on the Edmonton Oilers' disastrous debut, which featured a lackluster defensive performance and a notably poor showing from goaltender Tristan Jari. Despite this, Evan Bouchard delivered a stellar game with five points, including a hat trick, signaling a major bright spot. The show critiques the Oilers' reliance on individual talent and questions Mike Babcock’s influence, suggesting the team operates on a predictable, self-sustaining model. In contrast, the Boston Bruins’ game is praised for its energy, with standout performances from Frazier Minton and JJ Paturka, highlighting a strong return to form. The discussion also turns to absurd online moments, such as a fake Brad Marshand cameo request, which sparks humor and reflection on fan culture. The NHL's new marketing campaign, particularly the “hot for hockey” initiative, is criticized as shallow and overly performative, while the show emphasizes the unpredictability and entertainment value of hockey’s chaotic nature. Overall, the season begins with a mix of chaos, redemption, and viral moments, reflecting both the highs and lows of early-movie hockey.
It is Wednesday, September 30th in the United States of Canada, and this is a show called What Chaos from Boston, Massachusetts. My name is David Bean. I sit beside Pete Blackburn and holding it down in the city of posh maintain the place hockey night. Nope. They're not doing it tonight. Nope. Nope. They're waiting till Thursday. It's Sean Depaz. Sup Pete. Welcome back to hockey. It's a surprise that you got this much energy based off of the way that things went last night. The way things went last night, our fucking board is crap in the bed every two seconds. That's why we're seven minutes late, so we apologize, everybody. No, I still want to bed really excited. I was like, it's still there and a damn thing changed. I mean, I would say, based off internal data, your team is as back as any team that played last night because they look like they're entirely in midseason form. Yeah, they seemed to have some like, oh, this is really cute. The NHL is like raising a banner tonight and showing off the new digs in Toronto and everybody like, please, we all know what the event is. We all know where the event is, and we all know, I still, I think we still don't know why the event is, but that remains the event. I mean, we all know who's going to like bring fireworks inside the party and ruin it for everybody. They're a big indoor fireworks guy, the little band of just absolute clowns. Sean, you had fun. You stopped watching, but you turned off the baseball and you got to get yourself some hockey. I didn't turn off the baseball at any point. I tortured myself. Last night was awful last night. I don't know if you saw I was like having a full blown crash out on Twitter, like the entire night. I don't know. You seemed pretty cool to me last night. Yeah, it wasn't just on Twitter, honestly, it was also on the text. The only thing that kept me, it kept me hanging on as a fact that for some godforsaken reason we didn't see Devon Levi last night, because literally everything that could be going wrong on a night in which my hockey team doesn't play was going wrong. I did see a lot of freaking out on your end. As Pete said, both via tech stand on social media, you were really worried about seeing Devon Levi. I was mainly worried about not seeing Devon Levi. I was very confused. I was screaming. I was maybe having a bit of a meltdown myself, but we'll get into all that when we discuss all of last night's games. Plus, just a good batch of bullshit hitting like yesterday was a good day or yesterday over the course of the day, I should say. We got a lot of material and that's when truly the NHL is back when there's games to talk about, but there's also a whole lot of nonsense. Yeah. I mean, yesterday we headed into the show and we, you would, I'm typically, Pete behind the curtain. I'm typically like the bullshit guy. I find the bullshit. Are you find a lot of bullshit too? I was going to say, you know, we both find bullshit. We split bullshit duties, but there's typically a lot of bullshit that goes into show planning. We headed into yesterday's episode and there was zero bullshit. Yeah. We didn't really need it yesterday because we had the Bedard interview and we had the Marchanko reaction. All good. Didn't need the bullshit, but I feel like the NHL made up for it with a ton of bullshit today. So this is going to be a bullshit heavy episode. You know that like all of our clips, not to say that I'm the bullshit guy, but like it's usually me showing you bullshit you haven't seen. Yeah, right. But I guess I was more thinking like you live in the bullshit. The only thing that you asked me for is, hey, have you found any bullshit? So my role is fully bullshit in terms of show planning. Sean is more us just throwing everything at him, including 10 seconds before the show where I was like, yo, let's get this Babcock clip in there. But that's that's that's such a peak behind the curtain. No one cares about the inside baseball. They do care about what we're doing on the show today, Peter. Today on the show, let us discuss dreams come true literally because both DJ and Martin Luther King had a dream DJ's I think is closer to coming to fruition. Sadly today, we got a show to do today DJ's dream more of a reality than Martin Luther King dream. In like my dream took like two days to get there. I don't think anyone should have cared about my dream. Martin Luther King's dream was like very good. Oh, yeah. I mean, I was like, I mean, quality of dream. I would say that Martin Luther King's dream, higher quality, more aspirational, that is the ideal. I dreamt the world was a better place and that people were good to each other. And people are like, uh, at this point, I would say it's probably going to be like centuries before people get around to, uh, this feels like the, uh, the, the pawn shop, uh, pawn stars. Best I can do is a bush art. I would world peace and racial equality and pawn star guy. Best I can do is Evan Bouchard, Patrick, on opening night. He almost got to 15. He was like really going to do it. There was a moment in, uh, when it was five to four, they already, he already had the hat trick and he took a slap shot from the point. I was like, this fucking thing goes in, man, he's actually getting 15 points tonight. But that'll be one of the things we discuss. Yeah, dreams come true. We're also going to talk, uh, not a day goes by. Not a day goes by. I don't know what that's about. I don't really. I don't think I also do not for what it's worth famously. Not a day goes by that, I mean, the, the per the, the subject is right there on the graphic. Tristan Jari. Yes. Not a day goes by that I don't think about the Tristan Jari trade and that DJ's personal, they actually have him on their team and started him and did not remove him from a game in which he was quite literally the difference, uh, it was cameo. My goodness, Brad Marchand is not playing did not play in the Florida Panthers debut last night. But I would say he was the biggest star of the Florida Panthers yesterday because he, uh, fulfilled a cameo request and did so in quite possibly the best way that I could imagine. I can't wait to get to that segment. It's going to be unbelievable. Stick around for that. And finally, you call that a book. We're going to hit on the, uh, the NHL's new, quote unquote, marketing campaign. That is somehow worse than all of their previous disappointing marketing campaigns. We're going to talk about hot for hockey. Oh my god. Yeah. Really, uh, not something. We're not a, uh, we don't like the word platform on this, uh, show. I think that, uh, typically if you say the word platform, you're, uh, begging people to, like, I'm not quite not listen to you, but a lot of people will throw around platform, uh, in, uh, I just, so once I hear platform, I'm like, okay, no one's coming at this from a good place. No one's having a real conversation here. This is something that's being platformed that I think is a little worrisome for hockey fans, new and old. Yes, I, uh, it's going to get, oh, no, no, that was just in my ear right now. Sean's playing it in the background. Uh, okay. We'll get to that, but there were games last night. The hockey season began, Sean, can you turn that off, please? Oh, I didn't know you could hear it. Yeah. Thank you, bud. Thank you. Uh, okay. The banner was lifted. The games began. We can start with the Panthers beating the Canes, one, oh, and over time, first game of the season. I, the, like I said, our board is broken. I had the NHL is back. What's better than this? Drop all cute up because I was thinking that about a hundred times throughout the night last night. Uh, that game, I will say straight up sucked ass, ass. That was like, I tweeted during the game like, I'll take zero games of this in the spring please. I, I, of that, of that for sure, of that. I will take zero games of that for the rest of my entire life and ever want to watch that type of game again. I personally absolutely loved Rod Brindamore's quote after the game, did you see it? Was it that, I mean, I saw a fake quote of Rod Brindamore going around. What was the fake quote that was like, we got a, like, it, like if we scored, then we went into shut out, it's not about us being shut out, and it was like the, the sweep thing. Uh, no. Rod Brindamore's quote that I saw going around was, uh, we did not grow the game tonight. And I love that take absolutely love, absolutely love a coach with the, uh, the goal of growing the game. Yeah. Jacob Markström, good performance. There was some good goal tending, performing, goal tending performances last night. I, uh, there were a few moments. I want to say in the second period, Markström was like flailing around in the hurricanes, had a three on one on the power play and they didn't score. And I was like, you know what, the betting app is all the way over there. I can't reach it. But Jacob Markström is getting a shut out tonight. I mean, just look at the, uh, the little analytics, 35 shots on goal between both teams, for 13 on the par play between both teams. 27 giveaways and
36 penalty minutes and then a Jacob Marks from shout out Absolutely horrible hockey game. So thank you very much. Now I understand why the NHL put that game at 5 p.m. on a Tuesday Yeah, that was good. Yeah, that was good structure. Yeah, that was good structure real game of the night of course Oilers and Connucks which I said yesterday during the slate grade that the Oilers were the most heavily favored game Team that played last night. I want to say that there were there were four five games. No, there were four games last night and Nope. Sorry forgot about the Black Hawks. How could I forget? Oilers were the most favored team last night and they lost an overtime and they didn't just lose an overtime They did it in of course the most oilers way possible it felt good last night watching that though to know that It hasn't gotten old like they did that was the most You could say oilers are the most predictable or whatever like It was too too going into the third period in a game in which Edmonton was doubling up Vancouver the worst team in the NHL in like Everything shot attempt sunblock shot like everything and Tristan Jari allows three goals in four minutes and five seconds and some of those were Oddman rushes. There was like breakaways every day. There were some bad moments from the Oilers of course But the difference in the game was that Tristan Jari was fucking terrible not shocking Evan Bouchard had a hat trick and five points and Not only did he have a hat trick and five points He scored a hat trick on two wrist shots and a snapshot He left his fucking driver in the bag all night and still had five points without breaking a fucking sweat and The oilers lost to the konai. He won the masters without using his driver. Yeah, just irons off the tee Irons off the tee and was just like I said barely fucking broke a sweat He's unbelievable and he was awesome and he played a great game et cetera et cetera But I had a dream that Evan Bouchard scored 15 points. It came true and The conuck speed them in overtime shut up Paul codder by the way who had Julianne more voice nine goals last season Already up to two could play in one game against Tristan Jari good for him Have you formed my big takeaway last night was that Mike Babcock has apparently had zero Influence on the Edmonton Oilers not a drop of influence because that was the most textbook Oilers game that I have ever seen goal tender ass defense ass immediate deficit that they climb themselves out of Based on the strength of one or two superhuman players last night It was Evan Bouchard they get their way back into a game that you thought that they were out of and then whoops They they lose it anyway. That is the most textbook oilers game that I have ever seen Mike Babcock has bought into the system Not the other way around. Yeah, and the end of it too was funny Like Ryan Shay Fighting for his life to get that puck out and I'm like I know there's three guys on the ice Where are the other two? Where are the other two? I think it was it was Hyman and Kaplan and and they were They were fucking busy. They had big plans. They had big dreams Kasperi Kaplan was going to win that fucking game if Ryan Shay could single handedly get the puck out of the zone when he is lying on the ice being Manhandled good for the conucks like if I saw some conucks fans on Twitter and everything and they they weren't being obnoxious they were just like oh Fuck yeah Paul Carter Yeah, I mean the conucks were given a gun if we want to use the They the ret the tweet that I had a few years ago that is got that goes gangbusters and oilers Twitter like 40 times three year ever which is basically I think it's like Every oilers game is a bar fight in which they immediately give Their opponent a gun and then kick their ass in self-defense like They gave the conucks a gun and then they got shot I'm not giving the conucks too much credit I'm happy for conucks fans because they get to kick off their season by shooting the oilers That is as good a way as the conucks could hope to start their season But holy fuck man and the Tristan Jari experience. I know Sean said he loves it last night Sean was like I fucking love this guy man. He's so entertaining. I agree with him, but at the same time The Tristan Jari experience is tough because I'm I'm the guy who Typically likes to defend the goal tender and find a lot of ways to defend the goal tender because it's the easiest person on the ice To criticize because it's the last line of defense and a lot of the laziest hockey fans will point at the goalie and be like That's why my team lost and yeah, Tristan Jari gave up two goals one on a break away and other on a two on one, but We both agreed last night on the break away. It's so hard to blame a goalie on a break away But the conucks had the puck on a break away and you could put that goal on the fucking board Before it was even shot because you know that guy is not giving you a save And he just never gives you a save the problem is Tristan Jari couldn't put the puck the goal on the board for another like 10 seconds after that goal I think it was the Rossi goal where he He gets beat on a break away and after he's still like positioning himself and being like, where is he? I got this fucker. I got you and it's like dude. He's gone. He's celebrating. They scored. There's there's like music and shit happening right now He looked like a like a snake or something that got its head cut off or like because you texted I didn't see it live and you were like is ten seconds after the fact I'm like, okay, he just probably being a little dramatic here and then you watch the highlight and he literally for like at least Legitimately a full five seconds is looking around and at one point you kind of like stops and accepts it and then like twitches again Like he still thinks the puck is in play. I'm like This guy is awesome Yeah, funny if it wasn't so fucking sad like I'm glad it's that stew But it's not I mean, it is funny. I'm not gonna say it's not funny, but it is It is crazy that the Oilers Identified that guy as the solution to their goal-tending problem and you mentioned stew I don't think a comparison could be made and I saw it going on a lot last night where they were like the oilers want and people Said that all season last year where they're like oilers wanted to move on from stew Skinner. So they got stew Skinner No, no, no, no stew is more like oil is a re oilery in which he hands you the gun But he does beat the shit out of you. He does like he fucks up and he's bad and then he's unbelievable and is like What I'm a good fucking goalie. Why why is anyone surprised by this there isn't that part with Tristan Jari He's either bad or he's hurt. Right. I mean like stew was essentially Evan Bouchard the goal tender and now like I don't know if we can say that because Evan Bouchard might just be a good defense man He's like a top high player in the league, but That like the oilers just had guys who were either amazing or just awful and The why I say the Tristan Jari thing isn't as funny is because he's just consistently awful I think in 10 of his last 12 starts he's given up four more goals for the oilers So Sean's love he's just consistently terrible love it all you want buddy You are fucking speedrunning Devon Levi being the guy in Edmonton Yeah, but the thing is and I yes, I was scared that we were gonna see him But also what's become very clear is Pete pointed out is like the the system It's it's it's in the crest. It's the system whoever plays goalie back there is not gonna have a good time It's probably not gonna be it's probably gonna look awesome in comparison to Tristan Jari, but No one back there is like it just turns into like a Vesna candidate so I guess I don't really have to worry about that But yeah, I mean, it's the funniest thing ever and it was awesome watching it because I tweeted something like For one for like ever like if you had I've somebody had told you the game was gonna go exactly the way it did You'd be like yeah, that sounds like the fucking Edmonton oilers and then it Like there's something so funny to me about going exactly the way everyone warned you it would go but no Especially in game one on game one start your season where it's like we're working our way up We got to get back into game shape. You know, there wasn't much of a preseason our team is like Debilitated by injury doesn't fucking matter where the oilers. Let's get to business Yeah, yeah, and again, like the performance that you fucking got from Evan Poochard five points With a hat trick on two wrist shots and like a nice little snapshot in front other guys played well - Vesili Pod Coleson I would love to see Vesili Pod Coles and put up a Saiyan campaign this year and he's off to a good start To know if he had scored the game winner in overtime I was going to get I was gonna bust out the sewing machine and get to work on a commemorative T-shirt of that game because that would have been so fucking cool and instead it goes the way that Feels oilery, but my what I keep going back to is like does that feel annoying and like oh here we go again. It what is
It's happening when that shit is happening with the oilers, when they are punching back in self-defense, everybody is having a good time. Twitter is what Twitter used to be, where it's Darren Rovell voice, like the best sports bar, Pete's getting off, fucking vintage Pete hockey jokes. It's all a good time and everyone is having a blast with it. And even when they fucking lost last night, I went to bed and I was like, I still got feelings. I still feel shit. This team can still fucking affect me. They haven't scared me off with their stupid decisions in terms of coaching and some of the players that they've chosen to sign. They can still get to me and I want that. - You know, I am not. I don't have fatigue with that at all. Especially because last year you didn't really get it. Last year the oilers were just kind of dull. I felt like they were not the electric circus that they had been in the years prior. So I do want it back. The only way that I'll say that I get annoyed by it is if they win consistently. Like I need them to lose a lot of those games because they deserve to lose a lot of those games. I don't want to see them constantly come back and win games that they don't deserve to win based off of being fucking assholes with an asshole in that. - But once they snap out of it, when they have in the playoffs and they go on those, like win eight of nine game runs, then it's just fucking breathtaking hockey and that's really like with really talented guys and back then good goal tending. That's fun to watch. It ain't the, it doesn't have as much silliness but they still would have some whimsy whether it be like the odd Jeff goal, something like that. Right now, I mean, the best tweet of the night last night wasn't your old one that gets retweeted all the time. It was you saying that Mike Babcock has bought into the system. - Yeah. - I mean, that looked a lot more like the Oilers than anything that I've seen from Mike Babcock in the history of Mike Babcock. - I don't know. Owen Michaels was playing an important role for the team. That's a college free agent that is like the most Mike Babcock thing in the world. - That's fine, you can Josh Sumansky off my team. Everybody is hurt or playing Owen Michaels. - That's fine. You can change the ingredients. It's still tasted like the Oilers. - It still tasted smelled everything like the. - Beyond Oilers. - The what? - Like a Beyond Oilers. - Yes, it was replacement ingredients but it still tasted the same. It can trick you. - The possible Oilers? - Yes. - Still tasted like the Oilers. - We also got the still of Babcock looking up at the scoreboard or I don't know what he was looking up at. Perhaps his God, I don't know. But he looked bad and really old. It looked like he didn't have teeth. - Sean, you're a little quiet. Can you turn yourself up at all? - Yeah, I was working on it. - Oh, it could also be that your. - Chad was the. - Oh, he's quiet as well. - Okay, sweet. We do have Babcock post game. - All right, this ought to be good. Get ready to get charmed. - Ooh. - Yeah, audio. - Please hold. - Hello, nope. - Okay. Babcock has been silenced to the chat. We'll love that. It's first time for everything. - I will say last night, I was feverishly trying to buy an Evan Bouchard jersey. Couldn't do it. Couldn't get one with the A. I saw that he was not wearing the A at home. Zach Hyman was, shout out our guy. But I, yeah, I was looking everywhere and I was like, you know what, I will go. I'll go authentic pro for that, not authentic pro. - Yeah. - Like the $500,000? - Yeah. - Oh my God. - Whatever is needed. Get I need a white Evan Bouchard jersey. They're not doing what the A yet. They don't know. Sean, we got Babcock. - I think so. - It's party. - Mike, obviously six is a, it's a pretty high number considering the way you guys are wanting to play. What happened on that side of the puck tonight, you think? - Well, I just think in general, I thought we started good and then we didn't do things right. We turned the puck over. We stayed out too long on the ice. We made poor decisions and, I mean, we gave up six tonight. I think we gave up, I don't know, how many did we give up an exhibition in four? - Three, eight, eight. - Five, that's how we gave it. So you just think about that. So the bottom line is, if we want to work, we want to do things right. We're gonna have a lot of success. If we want to play like that, we're gonna be chasing the game. You know, I'll be honest with you, I feel fortunate. We got a point. It was great comeback by us. In the end, we still gave up three chances and over time they're in a minute and a half. - Tristan owned his part in the loss tonight, but can you just give us a thought on his play? Did you need some more from him? - Well, I mean, obviously, you know, that was pretty clear. Everyone knows that, so we just might as well move on, but right on, brother. Our part is to play way better. That was ridiculous. - Hell yeah. - You ever notice old people say ridiculous? - They say ridiculous instead of ridiculous? - I say ridiculous. - I love my dad as he's gotten older. He's really been hitting the ridiculous. - Maybe ridiculous with the thing when they were kids. You know, it's just evolved. - It just feels like ridiculous. - Just life repeats itself. - I've seen this shit before. This is all sorts of ridiculous. - Yeah, I liked the, don't put in the newspaper, the thing that happened. - I mean, I respect him just being like, we all have eyes, we saw that shit. What do we need to talk about? Everybody agrees. Tristan Jari gets zero thumbs down. There's zero thumbs up. - We do get a rematch of these two teams tomorrow night in Vancouver. - Why not? Let's do it again. - Gotta go Levi. - Nope, disagree. - What? - Let the man have his revenge. Let him redeem himself. - I will say, I was worried as I was like, you know what I kind of liked and over time was Tristan Jari. I thought Tristan Jari looked pretty good in over time. And why are they in over time? Because of Tristan Jari. - Yeah. - Damn, yeah, I mean, I'm despondent in a lot of ways, but I'm also just so happy that hockey is back and that the Oilers were like, no, no, no, no, no. This is not about, I know the Leafs put out that video that was like, it's about us and you all want to cry about it. And the Oilers were like, buddy, you could say it's about whatever you want, we're about to shit all over the ice and get shit on our skates or whatever Pete says. - We'll see how you feel about that one. You've got two extra games to deal with this season. - Yes. - Of that bullshit. - Yeah, it's pretty good in game one. Let's see how you feel in game 83 and game 84. - Do you need to note that Ryan and John Hopkins did not play in that game because he's day to day, which Babcock says, I think, means two weeks. Sounds good, buddy. Freddie Anderson is out until at least December. We need to get that guy the substance because I would love for there to be other goalies on this roster. Matthias Yenmark is going to be out for a long time. You don't, I won't make a rude comment about that. And they just slipped in that, oh yeah. And Matt's always going to be another eight weeks. - That's tough. - Shit. Kind of sucks. I said it last night, the start to the season for the Oilers has big quit without saving and then just restart if you're a video game guy. - Oh yeah. - She shit goes wrong in game just to start the season. And you're like, let's see how this goes on the restart. That's the start for the Oilers this year. - What does the number seven mean to you? - It's, George Costanza's daughter. - Yep. And also the number of shots, facility pod calls and landed on goal. That fucking rocks. There was one good thing that we're getting out of all this. It's that facility pod calls and is being made into a thing. Do you have any internal data off of this game? - Off of this game? No, I mean, again, my internal data basically says Mike Babcock's influence is non-existent in the Oilers so far. And yeah, that's about it. He's buying into the system. - I've got internal data on the Canadians and Leafs and my internal data says that Emil Andre was not the problem in Toronto. - Yeah. - Still lost. - Okay. - That's fair. - They got him out of there. - Still lost. - I mean, we want to talk about debuts. Gavin McKenna didn't have the best debut last night. - Didn't stop, no offense, B.R. Open Ice. Did not stop B.R. Open Ice from hosting. - Oh my God. - I almost scored his first goal. - We all saw that independently. I thought of just sending it to the group and I was like, I don't want to send this to the group because I don't want it to show up in their analytics that they got a share out of this. - You don't want to give them a view. - I am disgusted with B.R. Open Ice. If anybody doesn't know what we're talking about, B.R. Open Ice posted just a shot that Gavin McKenna took and I think that it hit the goalie and the crest and they were like, Gavin McKenna almost scored his first NHL goal and I'll tell you what we're not doing. We are not doing that bullshit. You do not have to be that fucking horny for content and opening night. Do not show me a basic ass shot from the number one overall pick that hits the goalie in the chest and tell me that it is something that I deserve to watch. - Fuck you, fuck you, keep that shit. - Especially with the other stuff that was happening in that game, I was fucked.
in looking my TV screen, watching William Neelander last night. His second goal, the setup that he had to that, then he got it back from I forget who like William Neelander looked fucking amazing last night. The Real Marchenko looked like, pretty good. There were some moments where it looked like he thought that the Leafs were like a different sport or something. Yeah, Darren Radish. I mean, classic power play. You're just, he arrived that day. He's playing purely off vibes. Yeah, exactly. Darren Radish, I think, set up the goal of the year from Josh Anderson until JJ Paterka had the goal of the year. That's some fun shit happening in it, man. There's other material you could throw out there. Great idea by Katie O'Keefe saying, they got to keep that energy and like post it for Jerry almost saves goals that are we, I mean, we should steal that. We should start posting highlights of Trish and Jerry allowing goals. Been like, Jerry almost had this one mind blown. Yes, fuck yeah. Neelander looked great. Gavin McKenna though, tough debut, not only because he like had eggs across the board with the exception of, I think he had one shot on goal, which be our open ice. Thank God, they only had one shot on goal. They would have been sprinkling them all over the place. Would have jammed up the TL a little bit. Would have jammed up the TL a little bit for sure. Other than that, he had his rookie lap, I would say either cocked or mauged or whatever you want to describe it because Sergei Bbrowski said absolutely not sondom. He's got out on the ice before McGinnis rookie lap. How do we feel about the behavior here from Sergei Bbrowski? He was being attributed to superstition by the way. Can we get a first from Gavin McKenna that isn't made super weird by somebody else? Famously, he was made the first overall selection friend of the show Justin Bieber made it super awkward and absolutely no plan said Gavin, we would like to draft you and poor kid then add to talk to I think I believe like they're like Matthew Shay for a year in the media now and it was like the weirdest fucking car wash a child has ever been put through. The first almost goal was sent to Toronto for the hockey hall of fame and then his first is rookie lap gets whatever it is by Sergei Bbrowski. Could we just have a normal moment for Gavin McKenna? I mean, I'm starting to think that Sergei Bbrowski only went to Toronto to ruin Gavin McKenna's life as frequently as possible because he took his number and then took his rookie lap. Oh, true. I don't hate that. Do you know how pissed I would be too? Like you got to have a shut out that night. Like it would have been one thing if the superstition worked and they won. It's a good point. But you do that. You cuck his like the second big moment of his career and then you fucking lose. So I guess what you're saying to Sergei Bbrowski is did you think your song and dance and your superstition would help you? Keep it rather. You'll play in view. Fucking keep it. I have internal data on the Bruins Rangers game. And that is my internal data indicates that ESPN showed me a lower third that said Mika's a bandajad had 34 goals last year. Yeah, you had a good season last year. I forget every time. Well, that's because he he was on the Rangers. How much how much Rangers were we doing? He had like didn't he have like 20 goals in the winner classic? Oh, I think was was was we're classic Rangers and panthers. Panthers, right? And he had I think he had a he might have had a hat trick in my game or something crazy. I'm going to remember role model. Yes. And of course, in Barkov and Kachuk dancing around in white pants with the Stanley Cup. And Seth Jones getting hurt immediately, right? Yeah. Just like Seth Jones staying having bad winter. Only his second worst winter classic. Speaking of cup behavior, how did you feel about the the the clap around the cup in Carolina liked it? I know that all the pregame shit that the hurricanes did yesterday was tasteful. Wasn't over the top. It was we won the fucking cup. How special is this? Let's play some hockey. No notes. A minus championship banner, though. Banner is very boring. But yeah, I like the storm surge with the cup on the middle. That's a nice little nod to to the culture over there. Can we talk about the Bruins? Yeah. Bruins absolutely back. And I mean, obviously a bit of a slog in the first couple 58 minutes of that game. But Bruins fucking back, Frazier Minton, I think is David Ortiz. That guy just like is clutch as hell. Well, constantly deliverable. He doesn't see colors. Yeah. Yeah. He doesn't see a height. Doesn't see anything. HR wants to find wants you to spot the difference between these two pictures. They're the same picture. He's just born that way. If I were a Bruins fan, I would be I think the Bruins fans should be the happiest of all fan bases after last night. Perhaps some fan bases whose teams didn't play. Maybe could feel good. But if you're a Bruins fan, you win. But it was against the oilers. That's even better. Yeah, that doesn't mean that you don't care how they get wins against the oilers. That's true. All they care is that they got a winning against the oilers. I mean, I don't think they care about who they get wins against at all. I feel like you're gonna be nuts. You got to be happy with any any dubs you get. The way I see it for Bruins fans, though, is you want to nothing with a shutout and you got three nothing three nothing. They get an empty netter. Yeah, who got that? I don't recall. We'll check our internal data. But you you win with you win via a shutout. Frazier Minton scores the game win in goal. JJ Paturka in his debut scores the goal of the year. Jeremy Swaman X amount of saves in a shutout against a team that has a lot of firepower. People forget they got Pavel Doreffy of. So if I'm a Bruins fan, I love how that shit went. Mark Kasselick had the had the empty netter. I mean, JJ Paturka, it was not just that he scored. It's how he scored. It was the sickest goal of the night. It was unbelievable. Absolutely. Ruined. Brainstner's life. I know. Not megged nasty goal. Nasty nasty goal. But he looks really good all night. Engaged all night. Speed, scale, all of it on display. That's the guy that they wanted to go out and get. That's the guy that they needed to identify as a solution to some of their problems. Very promising that they got him on opening opening night. Yeah. And not like the Bruins were scoring a million goals last night, but it was against Igor Shasturkin. And it was against and was really good. Shasturkin was good. It's against I would say an improved Rangers defense. I like that they were doing Paturka. I'm going to like wherever they put Paturka as long as it's in that top six, but like I like Paturka with Lintholm and Posternock as well. But if you put Paturka with Zaka, Sean, do you think that he's more that he's like less of a play driver that he's more of a finisher than anything else? Yeah. I would say so. Yeah. Because he had stretches last year in Utah where it felt like he couldn't be the guy on that line. Oh, no. I mean, like I don't know if there's a a premier winger in the league that I consider less of a play driver than Jay Jay for Paturka. Yeah. I mean, I'd be like on Paturka is that. Oh, you said of premier guys. I was going to say I can never view you. Yeah. I'm like the good ones. Yeah. Like I, the book on Paturka is that he disappears half the time or even maybe more than half the time. He ain't scoring. He ain't breathing. But you can count, count like the day is long that he's going to score 25 goals a year. Regardless of how often he disappears, he'll get his 25 goals. He might get 40 this year for the Bruins. I mean, it looked like Morgan, did you hear yesterday? There were like Morgan Geeky coming off his fantastic year last year, scored 30 goals. And I was like, yeah, it was complicated. It was definitely complicated. Yeah. I mean, you'll take 30 plus goals from Morgan Geeky, but the way that he did it last year was a bit, a bit of a tease. It was very much. It reminded me of Riley Smith's first year with the Bruins scored 20 goals. And you're like, damn, he's just a kid. That's his first NHL season. 20 goals. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like 18 goals. The first like week of the season wasn't in Boston. Yeah. It was first like full season. Yeah. You played like 30 games with this stars. Oh, Riley Smith, why am I thinking of, uh, Riley Smith. What was it? No, I was thinking of, um, you come for the Panthers? Oh, no, they traded him to the Panthers for, uh, for Jimmy, Jimmy Hayes, apologies to Kevin and Jimmy Hayes. Yeah. Good. Good call. Uh, he's saying good call with that trade. No, no, no, no, no, I was saying good call that, uh, you, I was wrong. Yeah, but like that season, he scored, I think he was playing with Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marshall and he scored like 18 goals in five minutes and then did not score for the rest of the season, limped to 20 goals. And it's like pretty good. What a good year. I think they got a guy. Uh, I will say, I said, Praterka gets 40 maybe. I think that's a bit lofty. I'm going to say right now after game one, Frazier Men's going to score 30 goals this year. Dude.
And that would rock. I think everybody's on board. Well, I can think of one city that's not on board with the Frazier Mitten experience. But I mean, I said it. I said it last year. I was like, if this guy can score on 25% of his breakaways, he'll score 30 goals easy because he has 500 breakaways a year and never scores on any of them. So like he's constantly in the right position as a very high IQ player, got to work on the fishing ability and he can be a 30 goal score easy. Sean, what you got love? Just this was like the only game I actually had internal data. Well, at large, my internal data was that this season is going to suck for me because everything everyone hates me and are personally attacking me. But Jeremy Swamon just said, I'm going to want to say, I'm going to win, that's no. He should have asked why not. He should have asked you. Yeah. Yeah, like why not? They can make the playoffs and they play off. Why not him? Halibuk's not going to play. Who knows what's going to happen with Washington? Oh, Halibuk's going to play. I had someone tweet at me yesterday that they need to trade dry side all for Connor Halibuk. So. Oh, yeah, baby. Connor Halibuk is back. Yeah. He's back. We're getting dry side all trade suggestions. Yeah. I mean, Swamon's fucking awesome. Like there are goalies who I subscribe. But I think we all do to the J fresh is a goalie rule, which is goalies are fucking goalies. I always compare them to relief pitchers where like some years, they're really good in some years. They're just met in some years. You say, what can we do with this guy? I think that there's, there are the Halibuk's. There are the Schusterkins. But I put so many people in that like is a goalie camp, but there is the upper tier of is a goalie. And Jeremy Swamon is there. But I would put like Logan Thompson. I know that his kind of become the flavor of the week in the last couple of seasons. But like, it won't surprise me if Logan Thompson gets met and looks more like what he looked like towards the end in Vegas at some point. And like, don't take that as disrespect against Logan Thompson because it happens with goalies. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, it is. That's why teams don't want to pay for goal tending most of the time these days unless you have a Schusterkin, unless you have a Halibuk, unless you have just like the elite of the elite. And there's only like three or four of those guys. I think I put Sirokin in there and then I might be done. You put Swamon, would you put Swamon in there over Sirokin? Oh, no. Okay. But that would be the four. I put Swamon in a group of, like I would be shocked if he had a bad year. Whereas most other people I would not. So yeah, I think there's probably like, you know, like a tier one A one B and Swamon's probably on the one B side. But yeah, I mean, I don't, I, I am a firm Jeremy Swamon believer. Like it was a shock. It was shocking that Halibuk had a bad year last year and injury problems last year at points two though. Yeah. I think so. And I mean, I also, I wonder if I'm a purple heart. Yeah, it's right. Yeah. So like there are very few gold tenders where if they have a bad year or a like a significantly down year, I would be shocked. That's a good way of putting it. Yeah. Boston fans would tell you that Jeremy Swamon had a bad year, a couple of years ago. I think I would need to check the numbers there though. I think I need to review. That was also like, but that was, that team was also fucking at that was a bad team and that was also a didn't he didn't have a training camp, which was not his fault because you look at his contract right now when you're like, yeah, he should have been getting that money. Didn't have a training camp team was asked and he did have like two months where he was the best gold tender and one of the best gold tenders in the league. I am in on having a Jeremy Swamon rocks conversation. I always like to do that. Let's get to some of the, oh, also in the nightcap, Vegas and Chicago, which I watched the least of not because I didn't have it on my TV, but because on my TV, they weren't showing the game. They were talking to Conor Bedard the whole time instead. So I didn't see much of that game straight up. They did a podcast with Conor Bedard for like either half a period or an entire period. I don't know. But it was crazy. Conor Bedard low key doing like the like a press tour right now, I saw he did like a black hawks pre game thing. He was on set talking and it's a captain, duty's brother. That's where yeah, everybody is asked him, including us like, so like I was life different as a captain. Like I got to do this bullshit. And he was just like, I think I just have to like pay attention to the group text more, but nah man, you got to talk to more people even if you don't necessarily want to, but he was fine on there. More shocking press tour this year or going on right now, Conor Bedard or Tom Cruise. Tom Cruise, who famously never does like press or junkets, is going on every podcast and hosting every reporter in the world for some reason. Is that right? Can I submit one? You know who's been on a media tour recently for some reason, I just want to know what he was up to. It's fucking Colin Kaepernick. I've seen him doing a bunch of podcasts and I want to know what's going on there. Shout out to our fellow colleague Adam Friedland. Yeah, right. He was on with that. He was on with that. Yeah. Was it, who was on, there was a weird, that was good by the way, I would recommend that. Who was on Stavishow, like the same week that Kaepernick was on with Friedland, because I remember I sent back to back screenshots and I was like, what fucking weirdly warped, fucking reality are we in right now? Oh, I forget, but chat does suggest that Tom Cruise doing a lot of press right now suggests Stigger is bad. Yeah, definitely. I mean, they did this shooting of paper, getting very polarizing reviews, so that means I have to see it. Not that I've ever questioned. It looks awful. I'm going to see it, but it looks awful. Did you end up getting tickets with the movie boys? No. I did not. What the fuck? When are you going? I have a gang. I have a movie, a solo movie guy, but I do have a small gang that's begun going to see movies together. Friday. What time? Oh, we'll talk after, we'll talk after, but it is like a, this is something you want to get in on. Yeah. I'm down. It's a nice, it's a nice setup, shall we say. Okay. Let's try to get Tom Cruise on the podcast. What was your internal data on the Bruins, do you ever say it? It was just that I had forgotten because I managed to score it. Yeah. I didn't have a ton of internal data last night. I had internal bleeding from watching the Oilers, but other than that, not a ton. That's why I was worried. It was just that I had forgotten that because I managed to score it. Yeah. I was like, what the fuck? He breastfed her right there in the middle of the barbershop. "Chill Guy" really nice about it. Would let him breastfeed my niece again. That is what this subreddit stays active on. They sent this to Brad Marshond as a cameo request. And here is Brad Marshond's cameo. I don't even know how to respond to this request. It's a wild one. I haven't seen many like this. Something wrong with your dog. You get a talk to somebody about that. There's some sick things going on up there that don't think that I understand. There's a lot of things in this message that are just a little bit off. Both make me feel like you're a little bit off right now. But I appreciate you coming in here and doing what you're doing. Be part of this and checking it out. I don't really know where to go from here. But I'm assuming you're a hockey fan based on this. I don't know if you like this.
me very much, but that's okay. We all have our fans and we all have our haters. But I wish you all the best and I guess thanks for checking in. Okay, my first reaction is my empathetic king. Listen to some of the way he phrased things there. He said, "I think you're a little bit off right now." I think that this is some stuff that I think that maybe you could talk to someone. I think he was not judging a lot outside of what do you say? I think like there's something wrong with you dog. He was not. No, he was judging. No, I mean, he was, I shouldn't say that he wasn't judging. He was not, he was not putting down, he was not putting down whoever sent this. He was saying like, "Hey, this is not reality and I think that right now you're not in a good space." I just thought a lot of the language and a lot of the verbiage was the tolerance I've come to expect from Brad Marshall who, beyond the shit and the licking and everything, like, is a fucking really solid dude. So that honestly warmed my heart. Yeah, I mean, I like the way that somebody put it in the chat. His message was basically, you can come back from this dog. Yeah, that is basically the way that it was put and yeah, I mean, also shout out to him being like, I don't know if your fan doesn't sound like it, but that's okay too. If you hate me, you're not the only person and you can come back from this dog. I mean, that is the best. I was fucking shitting my pants. I was stunned watching that. I was just sitting on my couch. Do you think he misunderstood the assignment and was just responding to that? Or do you think he was like, "I'm not reading that shit?" Oh, and I mean, I don't think that cameos come with like us. I don't think you're required to read a script on a cameo. But I mean, they were, you can request what you want them to do. They made it seem like they were requesting them to read the copypasta. So that's why I'm curious if he, or if maybe that just got, didn't even get to that point. Maybe they tried to get them to read it and even get the full thing. This is way funnier. I don't want to see Brad Martian read off a page. Him being like, I don't know what the fuck this is, but I'm going to take your money and tell you that you're fucked up, bro, but you can come back from this. That's the way funnier outcome here. I didn't fully realize what I was like consuming as I first started reading it. So there was definitely like, I don't know if you guys had this experience, but there was a point in it where I was like, something's up here as I'm reading it because I didn't realize it was like a bullshit copypasta. I thought it was an actual story. And then they once you, they were like, I didn't want to bother Brad. I was like, that's a, that's a little weird. I can't read it. I'm like, okay, I see what's happening here. I need to know what the origination of this copypasta was. If this was someone telling a fucking real story about a stranger breastfeeding a child in a barbershop, I don't think that's good behavior. I feel like there are those copypastas, though, with, hey, saw this celebrity and they did this thing. And I feel like I have seen, if not that exact thing with a different name, something weird where it was like, hey, like this person breastfed my child or whatever. I'm not in the Reddit streets as deep as others maybe. But I think I do feel like I've seen that the legials as Keanu Reeves. It's okay. Is the original in the, the original copypasta. So it was just a made up fucked up like trap story to begin with. And then they just substitute a Brad Martian that's outrageous. Well, I mean, I didn't buy the story for a second. Well, yeah, I mean, I would say that the man breastfeeding would probably give it away. Well, the man breastfeeding, I think that he also would, would care and show concern for someone who is having a hard time. But I don't think he was just like walking up to somebody's niece and putting his hands in their hair. He's not doing it. He's, I mean, if it's a player on an opposing team, he's going right for the hair. He's getting his, well, he's taking their helmet off, throwing it a mile, breaking it, disassembling it, and then maybe going for the hair. But he's not doing that to some stranger. No, no, no, not his style. Also need to talk about, did you always see this Leo Carlson letter in passing? Okay, duck center Leo Carlson penned a letter titled Dear Ducks Fans that was posted on the team website. And in it, he discusses his commitment to Orange County, his perspective on the offer sheet that he signed with the flyers. And just some other things, like how fast he's had to grow up as a young man living in a new country, being a front facing for a person with a stutter. There was, it was good. There was some interesting stuff in it. I have one thought on it and that it's a player's Tribune wouldn't take it had to post it on the team website. It's kind of tough. That is tough. And I, they post some real bullshit on players Tribune. And I, I think it's because of the offer sheet thing. I think that they're like, this is a, hey, ducks fans, I didn't mean it that time I signed with another thing. We did this does not pass, master. We're not carrying your water, pal. Yeah, we, uh, journalistically, we cannot run this. I have a hard time with the Leo Carlson thing where it's like, yes, making fun of him for saying, like, I always wanted to be in Anaheim does check out when he accepted an offer sheet from a different team. Like, when you sign an offer sheet, you are just like straight up saying, I'm okay not spending my entire career with this one team. But on the other hand, and this is what he wrote, it was like, you see how much money they offered me? Yeah, I'm supposed to say no to that. Yeah, this is what he said in it. During the talks over the summer, we always said we wanted to stay with the ducks. It's just when that number pops up, it's hard to say no in the situation I was in. That's something I hope everybody understands. It was obviously hard thinking about how I could possibly leave here and not knowing where I'm going to go, but I'm so glad it all worked out. Yeah, I don't know how necessary this was, but I do appreciate it because I think that he likes playing for the, I do believe that he likes playing for the ducks and he wants to be there forever, et cetera, et cetera, but fuck man, $18 million, $18 million. Yeah, I just get, I think that the ducks should like, and Leo Carlson should move off of this like PR campaign to come back from the offer sheet thing. I feel like there's a general understanding of where everybody was coming from there. We don't need to bring more attention to it because like this, this to me seems like it has the energy of the fucking Nathan Fielder Elizabeth Holmes. Is it Elizabeth Holmes? What's your name? Is that your name? Yeah, Elizabeth Holmes, right? Documentary, where it's being real with you. I don't know as much about you. I'll be honest. I don't know as much about Elizabeth Holmes, there, but yeah, it's Elizabeth Holmes. I'm being real with you. I'm always being real with you. I always wanted to be ahead of him. That's that energy to it and it's like, don't need to be doing all that. We know where you were coming from. Just move on. Speaking of players who left the ducks or almost did or became flyers or almost did, NHL on TNT did another Bugs Bunny interview with the player. We got Seth Jarvis last year. This time, it's Trevor Zegress. I condensed this to give you a little taste. And I also, I don't know why. I like when we show these to take the music away, to just make it two people sitting down. Hard hitting interview. Just like, man to man. All right. I tell all. Yep, here it is. Please welcome Trevor Zegress. Thanks for having me, Bugs. See Trevor. What did you call this hairstyle yours? This hairstyle? Uh, this is Egress. Does that mean business in the front party in the back? Because that's what it's saying. I got to know who's your favorite BFF in the league. Jamie Dressville. Give us your best impression of yours truly. What's up? Is that something I say? Who's on your training? I like Sumitalka. Wow, a real rock and roller. Yeah. If you could trade places with any athlete for a day, who would it be and why? Aaron Judge. I would love to hit a baseball 500 feet over a left field or whatever. Try on the basis like on the man out of the first week. Well, Trevor, like a good carrot, you seem very well-grounded. Oh, thanks, Bugs. Well, I got to ask first question. Did you manipulate that video? No, I didn't. As soon as you started talking there, I was like, oh, he's going to think that I fucked with this. No, there was, I mean, I shortened it. Yeah, but like you took the music away. You didn't make it more awkward. You didn't replay the the little awkward laugh. Oh, no. No, he was doing the same sort of like, uh, kind of thing. That's crazy. I also must say, uh, Eminem voice. I never seen a lip like that. I was going to say I believe they let him just do his let him pack up and not heat or while doing another interview with Bugs Bunny. Unreal. That was a gnarly lip that our guy had. They did. He did ask him, uh, winter,
or summer and he said summer and he said like boots or flip flops and he said flip flops and it was a lot of, are we on a liar watch because he never said he didn't like summer. He just said he didn't like summer all the time. Yeah. You're just getting too much of it. Yeah, like I, not that I'm back in a place with seasons, I like, I didn't say summer is my favorite season, but I lived in Arizona, I fucking, I hated it. Too much of a good thing. You know, sometimes too much of a good thing can be a bit much, although I was looking at those Bruins, uh, new offerings that they're doing this year, they're doing the, the beer glove, which I think like glove was the last thing that wasn't taken. So good for you, Bruins, I guess there's been a beer, everything else. They're at least doing their own thing, beer glove, cool, whatever, uh, and then did you see their line up of alcoholic milkshakes that can be ordered virgin? No. They looked bonkers, they looked like monstrosities that Sean would get because, yeah, I mean, I saw Sean fuck up the two times I've been, no, I'm in the multiple games of the garden with Sean. I've been to a bunch. But, uh, I've seen you, Sean get some monstrous treats at Bruins, I mean, the one time in particular was the, the gingerbread gelato that they put a full cookie in it. But yeah, I mean, at, uh, at Keybank last year, they had a churro milkshake and it was basically just a vanilla milkshake with the most whipped cream you've ever seen and much churros on top of it. I can fuck up a novelty treat, although there are a few experiences less embarrassing than being a grown man walking down the aisle in a hockey game with something that looks like it's made for a small child, uh, because everyone looks, like people do look at you and make, like quite literally look at you and be like, what does that guy have? Why does he have that thing? Uh, very out of the variance. Sean, I got to, I got to say, uh, you fucked up by moving back to Buffalo because we got a, a sweet treat delivery at the studio yesterday from, uh, our friends at rankatories. They dropped off a bunch of ice cream because fan of the show and some of that shit is unbelievable. Had you, you haven't had any, I did see not to go through, uh, not to go through our trash, but I did see some, uh, remnants of looks like somebody got a taste. I got a taste at the studio, I brought some home and I'm done with, I'm basically done with my share. I'm really, really easy last night. I mean, hockey was back on all night. What do you think? I'm not going to dip into the fucking ice cream. It was unbelievable. There was a autumn spice ice cream that is truly insane. So thank you to our friends at rankatories. I know it probably doesn't work with ice cream, but you can, you can give sponsors, friends of the show, my address any time, uh, first off. Secondly, I had a, uh, probably not nearly as good as what you had, uh, pop tart ice cream sandwich last night. It was like ice cream in between like two brown sugar cinnamon pop tarts. Fucking incredible. Was this a Shandapa's creation or was it, which it could be pretty easily, but no, it was bought. They saw like that official pop tart branded damn. That sounds amazing. I did. You're doing true for a little treat. You do true for whoever? No, because it didn't. Didn't they have like metal in them at one point? Oh, yeah. Yeah. And then I ate them and now the metals in me. Nice. You got microplastic in your balls. Once you eat it, it's, yeah, once you eat it, it's not in your stomach. Yeah. Once you eat the true for, it's not true for any more. That's why this guy's setting off the, uh, the detector at every airport that we go through. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, we do need iron in our system. It's true. Yeah. I did a little true for you last night. I do have some ice cream though. I got a lot of it now. Uh, I can confirm it was recalled through potential presence of metal fragments. Love that in my ice cream. That's crazy that in 2025, we're a big true for who household we talked about it and like on the show. Oh, but Julia is the biggest like. I don't want any poison in the food I eat or I don't want to ingest plastic. You know how people can be annoying about that stuff. So I'm very surprised that, uh, we haven't jumped off the, it must have been okay metal, okay? Uh, let's. All the food is poison. Yeah. Exactly. Uh, let's talk about the NHL's hot for hockey campaign and I don't know how much we actually want to talk about it, but I feel it's more of a PSA that we let people know this is going on. Uh, the NHL has launched its own foray into the hockey romance like book talk, whatever it may be thing. Uh, Sean, uh, is there a way to play those without it going in our ears? Yeah. It should be good now. Okay. Thanks, buddy. Uh, basically the NHL and I can't believe this is real. The NHL is doing a thing where they've contracted authors to write short, like one minute long romance books involving NHL teams and players and they use the real names of the players. So there is one out there that's called like, uh, the summer I turned gritty with Trevor's Egress. There's one called, uh, what's the jack of, uh, jack of hearts, jack of hearts with the jack Ikel, Jack Ikel, who famously is probably all about the, the like heated rivalry craze. I mean, I think the Jack Ikel might be the biggest, uh, I think we're all victims of this marketing campaign, but Jack Ikel, uh, through like no real fault of his own in this scenario. I just saw a ton of things yesterday, they were like, nobody wants a fucking romance novel with Jack Ikel. Get out of here. So like, Jack Ikel had a tough day yesterday. Yeah. It's weird for old hockey fans who are like, what? I guess I can ignore this, although I don't think people are being, uh, as civil as that. And then for people who are fans of hockey romance books, they're like, don't fucking talk to me like this, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, you're making me sound stupid. Right. Because these aren't the shit that people are reading. Right. Exactly. I mean, this is quite literally the most genuine, who the fuck is this made for of all time? Because number one, like you said, the people who actually are interested in this are not interested in this fucking surface level bullshit that has no substance or appeal to it at all. They are like actually seconds long. Right. They're like 60 to 90 seconds long. And it is also worth pointing out that according to sports business journal, this was, this initiative is led by Sean Egert, who like, not to just say, like, probably shouldn't have a man in charge of doing this shit. It's having a man be like, lead the initiative for like a primarily, I would say, or overwhelming female lead audience that he's trying to appeal to. It's fucking crazy that this is what the end result is. It just appeals to absolutely no one. And it is straight up insulting to the audience that they're trying to appeal to, which is the worst possible outcome. And it's as people who make stuff in the hockey space or otherwise, this can't be acceptable. This can't make money, this can't make somebody money, you know? And I don't know, I get like, I don't know the authors that were contracted to make this and, you know, get your bag, et cetera, et cetera. This can't be seen as like an acceptable output. I think this quote says it all from Mr. Egert, the popularity of hockey romance in not only this country, but North America at large, even parts of Europe is unmistakable. You can't hide from it. And so it's a great opportunity for us to extend and reflect that culture back in our storytelling. That you can't hide from it. Element is the admission that we feel like we have to give you something to appease you because you are now a fan of our product. And we are giving you what we think that you want, but we have no connection to you in reality. So here's some absolute bullshit that will make you happy and it's the bare minimum that we can do. Like literally, this is the bare minimum of an attempt to try to appease new fans and it ends up insulting them in the end. And it's just a fucking embarrassment for everyone involved. You can't hide from it because Lord knows we try. Exactly. I was going to say that was the quiet part that wasn't said was that because we, what if we could, we certainly try to and now we can't. So here is as Pete said, like just a bare minimum, all right, we're going to give you 60 seconds of it. And Sean, could you give me the cover? I sent a screen grab of what's a called the storm between us, please, if you could show me a minute. Okay, well, there's a one of these involves Sebastian Ajo and it is called the storm between us. And you listen to these things and it really is Wambam. Thank you. Whoever. Yeah. We should play like one or two of them just to illustrate that there is absolutely nothing of value contained in these things and their attempt to like market the game as a result of. putting these out, it just, it does, there's nothing to sell the game in these at all. Yeah. Uh, Sean, it's right above the money puck one. Yeah. There you go. Excellent. Yeah. There's, and I, I can't like to listen to the McDavid one and everything. I, as a player, I would just feel so fucking weird and uncomfortable about that. You know, like if you're a public facing person, you can't really help what people might say about you online and everything. But for your, but it's different for your workplace to put out some like weird stuff. You should be able to say no to that. Yeah. Like the, like the fan fiction stuff that is attached itself to real players, uh, like specifically like, uh, Will Smith, Macklin, Selberini, obviously that's the most famous one. Like that's, it can probably make them a bit uncomfortable, but when it, when it comes from like out, when it comes right inside the walls and the NHL is putting this shit out and attaching players names to it, it's really weird and uncomfortable. And not only something that's going to make you uncomfortable, but if this were done about me, I would first be like, uh, what can you explain this a little more? And eventually I would get to what you asked, which is, but who's this for and who wants this and is my name being attached to something that's going to insult somebody? Because now I like kind of look like a bad guy here, like no, no, no, I want to sit all this out, Sean. If you could put back up the, uh, the storm between us. Thanks for getting that fella. All right. Anything you notice there as you look at the cover for the storm between us right there. That you're playing memories by room five. Well, that was an Easter egg I put in there. Yeah. Um, no, apparently they are using internal data here because their internal data says that Sebastian Aho is a righty now. They've got the wrong handedness of them. That's not even real Sebastian Aho. They're taking liberties. Okay. I mean, Sebastian Aho is a lefty and very far down the line of problems that I have with this entire thing. But yeah, I'm the list of problems. Also, he's not a cartoon. Uh, let's play, let's play one of them. I think that the, uh, let's play the Zegress one, I guess, all right. Hot for hockey presents the summer. I turned gritty featuring Trevor Zegress. Trevor Zegress came to filly looking for a fresh start. But after battling with Pittsburgh in the playoffs last year, he found out how gritty things can get one heated summer later. Filly's pretty boy is looking a whole lot grittier tune in to the NHL all season. That cannot be acceptable. That cannot make somebody money and we fucking podcasts and we pay for a studio and we have lights and everything like that. Like this shit costs money to make and hopefully it makes people money and everyone can be okay and everyone can have lives and everything. Like, I get a little selfish listening to that and I'm like, because that can't be what's somebody's selling. It's crazy. And I mean, Chatsay and like, it sounds like AI. It does sound like AI and I, I hate that everything bad now, like my first reaction and I'm like, this is bad, is this AI, but that unmistakably sounds like AI. It is allegedly narrated by a real person according to this thing. I don't really believe it and I don't like that it puts a real emphasis on like heated in the summer because it sounds like it's mocking heated rivalry, which this whole thing seems like it's mocking that actual, that actual thing that brought fans to the sport last year. Oh my God, horrible job by the NHL, horrible, horrible job. It was a time to play hockey for Piotr Kochekov. Everything was really gay in the celebration of winning the Stanley Cup. But sometimes Stanley's a cup and other times Stanley is a person. And maybe things get steamy with two people sometimes. Follow along with Piotr Kochekov and the Carolina Hurricanes all season. Like that's, it's nothing. It's just, you're just saying names in your, say, in your suggesting romance. Yeah, it's crazy, man. Bad job. It's embarrassing for everyone involved. Yeah, Chats says like they fucking hate us. I think they do. I think they fucking hate you. At best, at best. They completely do not know you and misunderstand you and what appeals to you. No, they fucking, that's probably right, but they fucking hate you. At worst they fucking hate you. Yeah. Don't say that my story was good to don't, that's an example of it's bad. Yeah. So we're never going to talk about this again. We're never going to acknowledge it again. But we thought that you should know that this exists because it is an example of how the NHL fucking doesn't get it a lot of times and they don't get it a lot of times and most of the time they don't get it in a way that is way less embarrassing than this. But fairly embarrassing. This is a horrific embarrassment for the league. Yes, this is, we also have to tell you because be careful in those internet streets. Yeah. You know, there are some scams going around. People do fishing attempts. I saw a video of a charming old guy that I fell for the other day where he was talking about the players on a hockey team and I was like, hey, this guy seems pretty salt to me. We can all fall for things. We can all get roped into things. Don't interact with this stuff. Don't let it be perpetuated. Please, if you can help it, we'll shut the fuck up about it. And we will talk about the Colorado Avalanche extending Jared Bednar for four more years. Jared Bednar is in his eleventh season with the Colorado Avalanche and I get the Colorado Avalanche are good and I get that Jared Bednar is a good coach. But I see him extended for four years and I'm like, yeah, do you want to have a coach for 15 years? Is that how it works? I mean, I will say there's tape. I felt like at the end of last year's playoff at the Colorado Avalanche should have moved on from Jared Bednar based off of the way things fell apart. And I know it wasn't entirely his fault, but I would say, and I've gathered some internal data from a lot of Colorado Avalanche fans, a lot of Colorado Avalanche fans feel like this team should have a bigger portion of good results under Jared Bednar than what they've actually gotten. So a long-term extension for Jared Bednar at this point in time, like I know you can't leave him as a lame duck, but oh boy, that might go like if they flame out again in the playoffs, you might be firing them this year with several years remaining. Yeah. The Colorado Avalanche. I've got a lot of teams that I can throw in here, but you could say the Colorado Avalanche are like the 2010s Bruins where you're like champions, always there, pedigree, know how to win. But what we in Boston say about the 2010 Bruins a lot is like, you know, I got one. Exactly. One in like, yeah, 2013 Blackhawks were beating everybody, so good for the Bruins to taking it to six games, but like they were handed a cup in 2019 that they didn't win. So there is some, even though John will tell you, if you can get one championship in your lifetime, you are fucking sad, like you'll just be happy with that. But the Bruins are a team that could have won more, and it's interesting that you say Blackhawks are, I'm sorry, Avalanche fans feel that way about the Avalanche because it kind of makes sense. And I will say the 2010s Bruins and even the 2010s Blackhawks, like all those teams, or now Vegas, Edmonton, Dallas, those teams that are always there, that are always in the mix, that sometimes wins, sometimes don't, but you always got to watch out for them. They all turn over their coaches. Vegas hasn't Vegas, Dallas, Edmonton, all those teams feel like we got to remove Vegas from the equation because they just operate so different than everybody. But I'll say Dallas, Dallas, Edmonton, they're doing like three years. Joel Quinnville, I'll even say with the Blackhawks, was fired during his 11th season with the team, and he was fucking winning them cups. They were actually winning, and yeah, when it got bad, it got bad quickly, but 11 years, that is, I think, well past the expiration date for a coach. And I think that right now, if you're the, I keep calling the Blackhawks, if you're the Avalanche with Jared Bednar, you're someone with a fucking 16 year old dog. It's like paying the $8,000 surgery for your senior dog, where you're like, okay, this might get us a few more really good years, but you're probably going to feel like that money is not super well spent, and you're going to be paying out of pocket for minimal results. Oh, a dog thing. Get the dog surgery. I mean, those legs are so bad. Right now, I'm looking up, like, is there what can I do about this guy's fucking legs? I will pay tens of thousands of dollars.
for my fucking sister's dog, legs, to work. And listen, I don't want to make it sound like Jared Bednar is a bad coach. I don't think that Jared Bednar is a bad coach. I think that he's a really good coach, and I think the results speak for themselves. However, you have a coach that's been around that long, and it just, the proof is in the pudding with sports, not just hockey, but with sports. Voices get old, and teams tune out, guys, especially when, again, the avalanche have flamed out, and I think that this is, this was maybe the year where it would have made sense to go into the season with a lame duck head coach, knowing that like, hey, if it doesn't work out this year, we're probably moving on anyway. Yeah. It is difficult to bring someone into a lame duck year, especially when you are, when you have the gravitas and the experience that the avalanche have. But I just see this, and look, a lot of teams are paying for coaches who don't coach them right now. I don't think Bednar is getting through this contract. I think this is a pill they had to swallow because David Carl apparently isn't happening. So they're like, all right, maybe we fire him a year or two. I mean, shit, Chris Naublock, I believe, is starting his contract this year, he's starting his three-year contract with the avalanche, oh, I'm sorry, with the oilers this year. And obviously there are fired coaches like Bruce Cassidy, who have like a year left and everything like that. That's going to happen here because what is not going to change in Colorado is the core of Nathan McKinnon of Kel McCarr of Martin Nejas. Those guys are going to be there. The thing that you do have to turn over to keep things fresh, and I even thought a little bit of this watch in the hurricanes last night where I'm like, man, when you, when everything is same, same, same, same, same, same, and they're locking into some contracts, Brett Kool-Ack, et cetera, et cetera. Like, you do have to turn some things over. And sometimes the easy one to do, even if you're a good team is the coach and they're just taking that off the table for now. And listen, at the end of the day, I'm not going to cry for Stan Cronkies wallet if they have to fire Jared Bednar after this year. So it is what it is, but that's kind of the position that they're putting themselves in. Somebody in the chat suggested, what if you just had like a Jared Bednar for John Cooper swap at some point? If I were John Cooper, I would love to go there. But I think that John Cooper is probably keeping his options open for two years from now in case, a team is looking for a number one center and a coach at the same time. You know what I'm saying? I think that John Cooper is probably obsessively thinking about Connor McDavid, whether he, whether that's him bringing him to Tampa, which will make him coach for life, which will make him a part owner if he's able to bring him to Tampa or if Connor McDavid says, fuck this shit. I'm out. And he does a LeBron. I don't think that he that his that McDavid's version of doing a LeBron is going to be who's my Wade? Who's my Chris Bosch? It's going to be who's my Spowe and not John Cooper and Spowe. John Cooper is better than Spowe, although I do love Eric Spolstra. I think that part of it's going to be like, I need to have my coach. So maybe he goes to Tampa with him or maybe he says, hey, get in loser, we're going to San Jose. Why is Alia saying stop Pete? What did I say? I don't know, but sometimes I think it's important to stop you. What did I say that would have been offensive to a star's fan? I don't recall. At least we said something about the stars. Oh, then you said you you, I don't know what you said about the first. I don't know what I said. Okay. Pete's been cooking lately. Okay. Pete had funny tweets last night. You said something yesterday that was really funny. Pete's on a heater. Okay. Pete's not the problem. You want to be mad. Come after me. I'm a man. I'm 40. Sean, did you have something else on this? Uh, no, I mean, I was going to bring up the fact that Kronke is like the richest second richest owner in the league. Yeah, so really doesn't sure he does not care about the, uh, the potential of firing that guy immediately. Stars. I was going to say you don't want John Cooper coaching the avalanche. That seems very fair. Yeah, fair. Okay. Um, you also said that like you're, you're guaranteed that the, the core will be the same. And I just, I laughed at that because probably what said that same thing like a year and a half ago, uh, with a different guy is the third name. They're written and yeah, yeah, so who knows. I'll say after last night, I'd rather have kill McCart at 20.4 million. Oh my god. Darren Rada share. I wanted to say it. The turtle dad of my internal data said that Darren radish, probably not a number one defenseman based off the one game sample in which he's been a number one defenseman. Well for the journal data also suggests that bow bar. I'm also not a, uh, first, uh, first, uh, uh, the number one demand because not a lot of nice things being said about that guy on Twitter last night. Yeah. But I saw some Saber's fans taking victory laps already. I'm not doing a bone byroom is going to be okay in Chicago. Uh, I have more confidence over that than, than Darren Rada, at least would you rather have Darren Rada set at 8.5 or whatever or, uh, uh, bow environment at 12.5, I'd bow and byroom. I think yeah. Yeah. I mean, I are both like getting into the, just always the better player and that I, I don't know if, especially with the cap going up. It's not always right, like if the Leafs we talked about yesterday with like, would you rather have Matthew Nies at 7.75 or, uh, Karl Marchenko at 12.5 in a lot of other cases. I think I would rather have Matthew Nies at 7.75, but in the case of the Leafs, given that they have a star player on rookie deal, I would rather, I would just, just give me the better player. Yeah. I think in the case of, uh, Marchenko and Nies, it depends on what the rest of your roster looks like in the rest of your payroll structure. If you have like first line guys and shit like that, then fuck yeah, give me Nies. And then I can spend the money on defense or anything else, but I did also forget that bow bar. I miss contract. It doesn't start until next year. So he's only getting paid 6.25 right now. Yes. As hockey analytics says, uh, that Byroom contract is, is looking, it says kind of looks awesome. Now, I don't know if it kind of looks awesome, but it is definitely aging in the direction of being not, not overwhelmingly egregious. I said that late in the off season when we were talking about a black Hawks thing and I was like, well, you know what's, uh, kind of a good contract by comparison, because the rule, again, if you're going to do the, how does this contract look versus this contract? They've got to be signed at least within a year of each other, and, but especially with this year, it was like a before and after Carlson. Yeah. Yeah, Byroom was like days, uh, BC and, uh, a lot of the other defense ones are like a lot of the other big contracts, whether it's the dark, whether it's, uh, um, McCarr or, uh, Macklin, Sullivan, all those are AC, but in the same summer, $12.5 million dollars for Byroom, not so bad, we got to do BC AD, uh, before Carlson, after deal, after deal. Yeah. Nice. Well, Anno Domini, a little hockey on my, uh, Anno Domini chat. All right. Uh, let's see the slate. Sean. All right. Tonight. What do we got? Oh, we got some heart favorites from, uh, Sean on there. Very good. We'll get to those in a second, but the slate, 730 PM Eastern United States and Canada. You can catch it on TNT, Pennsylvania, the battle where the flyers will host the Pittsburgh penguins at 730. You can also get the islanders taking on the Leafs, Leafs doing a home back to back to begin the season because it's always about the fucking Leafs at 10 PM on TNT. The Kings and Avalanche in a first round rematch. We'll see if the Kings can control the tempo the way that they did the way they did that series. Yeah. Excited to watch the Avalanche see how comfortable Jared Bednar looks. I'm really disappointed by a three-gamer on the second night of the season. Like, gotta, gotta have at least four to five. There's a couple of, like, I needed the, I needed the wild tonight. Well, I mean, the wild are recovering from having Dr. Nick as their medical staff. I mean, you're talking to a guy who is going to be without Matthew Savoy. For the next eight weeks and might never see his team starting Goldtender. Yeah, but like, the wild have, like, almost killed two people at this point. Yeah, they know that they definitely do have Dr. Nick accusations. I'm like not even joking when I say the Minnesota wild medical staff seemingly has almost killed two defensemen in the past, like, two years. They almost kind of Charlie McAvoy at the four nations, and then they almost killed Brock Faber. Well, am I missing something on Brock Faber? DeVate. They put him back in the game with a fractured skull in a preseason game. I didn't, I didn't know that part. Yeah. Okay. So I was like, I don't think it's the, I don't think they shot the puck, but yes, that's not good. Hawkeye player, a heart favorite Sean has on here. I'm going to make David plus 250, Nathan McKinnon plus 370 and McClendon Celebriini plus 500. I was just shocked by Celebriini. I didn't realize he was a third. Yeah, I mean, I think that if the sharks get better, then people are going to almost give him like a lifetime achievement award at this point because last year he was an outside of the box candidate. If he looks like an actual candidate this year.
here, Lord knows. - That's a market signal. - Yeah. - Yeah. - I mean, I do think that Maclin, Celeberini, having the third best odds for heart, seemed reasonable to me. - Reasonable. - Speaking of bad medical staffs, remember that time that the Chargers medical staff stabbed to Rod Taylor in the chest, and the long I should say, and thus started the Justin Herbert experience. - Yes. - Yeah, I'm starting to learn Justin Herbert might not be ready. - I think he needs to go on the Taylor Swift plan, take four years off. - Yes. - At least half of them would be. - Self-right. - Yes. Cody C.C., Nora's campaign begins tonight says the chat, although I think that might already be sewn up. It was funny, we were talking about the, like, Bo Byram stuff, bad night for all of these number, really, these quote unquote number one defensemen. Couldn't be me, couldn't be my guy, couldn't be Evan Bouchard, everyone had to agree, not the problem in Edmonton. They did change their goal song though, and I'm not crazy about that. It's apparently a song by a local band that is not streaming anywhere, so nobody can find it. Nobody can learn what that song is, they just don't know what it is. - Okay. - So they're just gonna, it's like hearing somebody's ringtone, you're just like, that's not my phone. I'm not gonna react to it. That's so tough. - Nice job. Nice job. They do, they do, they do. Insist, they've turned the page too much. There is a, I think that I'm changing the goal song, has some of that, they're like, we're serious now, we're men, we have a new coach, we don't take any shit, we don't do, we play a different song and everything, and it's like, you should do a part of that experience. - Yeah. - Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, but like, oilers. It was, I say this to the stars too. Like, do what you're doing, baby. Like, you're so fucking close. Your problem isn't, you gotta dump everything and change everything and show how different you are. You just gotta not fucking crash and burn. - Is like, is the new goal song, like Bangs? Did the, did the oilers get Bangs? - Huh. - Yeah. - I'm like, you can get Bangs, we still know it's you. Like, it's the same face. Like, it's all, you don't get that, you're not gonna change the page when you're still rowing out Conor McDavid and Leon Drys settle. - Yeah, it just speaks to the state of mind. Like, I feel like the oilers are in their Bangs era of just as an organization. They think that the Bangs make them a different person, different team, because they want them to. - Who are we saying? - Who are we saying gave themselves Bangs last year? Was it Mark Savard? - I don't remember. - Mark's right, was that? - I mean, I don't remember that ever getting brought up, but that does seem like, I could definitely see at some point somebody being like, what's next? Are you gonna get Bangs? - The constantly changing profile picture, I think, was compared to giving themselves Bangs. - We should, I don't remember that in the moment, but that definitely, it definitely plays. - We should keep that happening. - So many of the chats says, no Bangs slander I got. I just had mine cut this weekend. I'm sorry you're going through something. - No Bangs can be cool. - Bangs can be cool. - We don't do Bangs, but I'm probably getting Bangs. - If you're getting Bangs because you think they look good, not because you're going through something in life and you need, you gotta switch anything up and it's one of the few things in your control. That's probably not great behavior, but if you like getting Bangs for the look of it, go crazy. - I don't think that Bangs is an inherent slander. I think that there are certain Bangs that have given the rest of Bangs a bad name. Such as Shabang by William Hong. - Easy. - By William Hong, you're thinking of Shabangs by Ricky Martin covered famously by William Hong. - No, that was the original. Ricky Martin had to cover. - Ricky Martin did indeed. - I didn't even realize what was going on there. I was really distracted by the Drake's Lander and the Shabangs, that's good. - She does famously, this slate is an A-minus, obviously. Let's do a little batch of super chats, starting with Matt Frunder-Foe, who says this is Vancouver's year, I can feel it. Hey, how does Simon Hawkey? - The best is that I think Matt is a Kraken fan. I believe that Matt's from Portland. People getting sick of the Kraken and then just be like, you know what? I'm going to be a Knuck's fan. It's very funny. - Man, that is also the, truly the rivalry that never was, isn't it? Like I feel like when they put that team up there, they're like, oh, we get the PNW showdown now. And then they were like, how about both team suck and no one cares about them at all? - Well, people care about the Knuck's. - Yeah, well, people care about the Kraken - No one cares about a rivalry matchup now. - Yeah, fair, yeah. - Nikki says, as a female fan, I find the NHL bookstuff they're trying to do seriously insulting. I can't blame you, Nikki. You should, Anna Reeves writes, and Anna Reeves does indeed write, so check out real books by real authors. I will not be taking part in the NHL's hot for hockey marketing campaign, mostly because I would never, but really because I wasn't asked. Respect. Fatima says, why was the Stanley Cup banner crooked? Sounds like a riddle. Or a question that Bugs Bunny would ask Trevor's egres. - It's because Toskey fudged the books and did some money laundering. - Oh, that's quite franchise. - Man, city type shit. - There you go. - White boy with a fade says, in March, my fiance and I adopted a cat named Leon, the next night Leon had a five point night. A month ago, we adopted Bush. I can't wait to adopt Icoord next. Please adopt Icoord because he didn't play much last night and he had one shot on goal, but I don't really remember it. Adopt Icoord. - Things are gonna get bad. - And this guy's gonna have 4,000 pets by the end of the season, just to try to provide a spark. I was gonna get real bad. He's gonna have a cat named fucking Babcock if you can get real bad for it. - My only request is that you call him by his full government the entire time. You got to call it Icoord anytime you need his attention or you're referring to it. - Love that. - Alumni boardroom says, "Polcott or what a game. "New key for sure would just dropped. "Luckily for the conucks, the oilers "just got Stan Bowman's derogatory. "I, they won't all be like that. "Now tell 'em, bring me my Dupont." Bartez Battalion says, "Bushard carrying my fantasy defense core "after I visited no show town "and everyone there knew my other demon. "Rattish, Gostis Bear, and Byrum." - Yeah, it's a tough start. - Yo, having Bushard and Darren Rattish, I'm not a fantasy hockey player, but that's a fucking cool backend. - Bushard and Rattish, you've got a type. - It's big time. - Sharks grow up a little bit. Karen McGross as I giggled for so loud and so long through the third and OT of the oilers game that my downstairs neighbor texted to see if I was okay/had gone insane. - Real shit, hockey is back. - I was legitimately like laughing out loud at points to nobody in particular at the things happening. It was awesome. - SJ Sharky says oilers look like they missed nurse last night, hashtag pillow fight, but they wish they had that nurse. - Darryl Nurse is not a bad player, folks. - Well, we've got Sharks games coming up, so we'll see. Frankie Smokes, the photo album invasions will continue until Moral and defense improve. Michael Curtis, an elite swim and pisses off all the right people. We know who you're talking about there. It was a tough night last night for one Michael Felger, if he was awake to watch the hockey slate because Jeremy Swaman had a shut out and Evan Bouchard had five points. That guy was in shambles. Checker Dandy, DJ read "Bad Blood" by John Kerry Owl if you want to learn more about Elizabeth Holmes. It's a wild story right up your nonfiction alley. - Okay, I've tried to get away from being a nonfiction only boy. I'm trying to listen to the pizza and Anthony Jesselnix of the world and read a little fiction, broaden my horizons. But yeah, Pete and I don't know about Elizabeth Holmes, right? - I do. I mean, I watched the Amanda Cifreed series on Hulu. I watched that. I just couldn't remember if Elizabeth Holmes was a different person in my brain hovering around the same area. - I have that same problem with that name in particular. Have other of you read, by the way, Kite Runner? - No. That's my favorite book of all time and I highly suggest it. - What is it? - The Kite Runner, or I think it's just called Kite Runner. I think I have it. - Yeah, but what's it about? - It's, I can read the back of you. No, it's like a young boy in the Middle East and it's hard to explain what it's about. It's incredibly emotional and kind of deep, but it's not like a hard read, but it's very good book. It's my favorite book of all time. - Favorite book is about a young boy. - Yeah, well, it's just, right? - Say Drake. - You see all this looks, right? Well, it's actually, there is some problematic stuff that happened in the book too, but half the book's a young boy and then a later half of the book is him as a grown man. It's very good, honestly. - What were you expect to happen in the chapter? I am about a little bit more than halfway through East of Eden. Oh yeah, I'm in. - I think I've got that over here too. - I should take a seat, Sean. Posey on the air says I'd rather they have players collab with Quinn audio than
and whatever the hell these are, if you're gonna be opportunistic, go full stop. I mean, at least understand the assignment, I would say. And Reeves says, "If you want new NHL fans, make it safer for women." So you're gonna play to start? - Yes, if you sign, I agree with that. If you sign a player who has been accused of a sex crime, take it a little more seriously, or show that you've taken it seriously when you sign that player. - Right, like, make Carter Hart speak and say things that are anywhere around the neighborhood of being of substance. - If you think we're misunderstanding something, politely tell us how we're misunderstanding it. - Correct. - Shmikalka says, "Kolkoffield about to get crazy revenge in the group chat." I don't know what that's about. - I don't even know. - Oh, I do know what that's about. The Trevor Zee grist of it all. - Oh yeah, right on. - Okay, I like that. Frankie Smokes is the summer, I turned Gritty a Jake Walman situation. Hell yes, really good. Morgan Lizzie says, "Crazy and incredibly unsurprising "that they're even half-assing their damn pandering." Yip, load bearing wokeness. I'd rather they just call me a slur to be honest. I did say before the show. I said like, this entire initiative feels like they're begging for people to bring back the gays slur. - Oh yeah. - That is what this feels like. Mimi Kay says, "We hate you, "but follow along with Sebastian Ajo and the Carolyn Hurricane "so we can get your money." Yeah, I saw people mentioning that Sebastian Ajo is like a deeply private person as we found out on this podcast. Yeah, he probably wasn't thrilled about that happening. BG Mung beans says Cody CC Norse campaign night one. Right on. That's what I consider pandering. Michael Curtis, four, five, one, two. Michael Curtis, hello. Disdoctor Thomas Bonso kill work for the wild. Evan Bouchard's heart candidacy. We're starting a movement. That's luxury trash. - No, it's a Brett's up. They've always been there. That's amazing. - Hell yeah, thank you everybody for the super chats. - Price of the Bouchard's day and the same because they got in there. - Yeah, that contract's looking bad now. - They're looking bad at Bouchard's, I did. - Yeah, that they didn't lock him up. - I should put the Noris odds on the slate. - Yeah, baby. I mean, I did see somebody say like, wow, like Evan Bouchard, five points to tonight. If he keeps up this pace, he will not win Noris despite kill McCarr or not having a very good season. How many years does Bouchard have left? - I think three. - Okay. - I guess three. - Depends on where you're looking, but Bouchard does have the third best odds to a Noris. - Behind McCarr and Werenzky? - No, actually. You say that and I didn't even consider it. Oh, no, no, no, no, I got got by an internet glitch. It scrolled on me a little bit and hit McCarr. So for a second, I thought McCarr was just getting flocked by the odds, but no, yeah, he's fourth. - Behind McCarr, Hughes and Werenzky. - Hit McCarr is what you did after you fucking tried to valet and you crashed it. - I actually didn't hide the car. I hid myself in the hotel bathroom. I gave that car right over to the owner and actually they didn't know what happened. - You drove it into a garage where they paint it and then you were able to then come back out of the station. - You wanted level. - Yeah, exactly. Your stars went down, I believe, when that happened. - John reset his wanted level by going into the bathroom and hiding in a stall. - Five minutes comes out from me, covered in paint. Just dripping with paint. No one will ever know, goes to steal another car. No one knows, it went down. All right, you're all stars to us. That's what we say over here. We appreciate you so much. We'll be back tomorrow, Shayne a day, tomorrow on what chaos will talk to you then. Bye.
