The NEW Way To Dropship On Shopify With AI (ChatGPT Integration)
10m 40s
The podcast discusses a groundbreaking update where ChatGPT will integrate Shopify checkout, enabling customers to buy products directly within the chat without leaving the platform. This change eliminates traditional shopping friction, as ChatGPT will suggest and sell products based on user questions, similar to TikTok Shop but with a conversational AI interface. With over 5 billion monthly visits, ChatGPT offers massive traffic potential for e-commerce sellers. To capitalize, sellers must adapt their SEO strategies for both Google and generative AI. Effective optimization involves using clear, descriptive titles and descriptions, avoiding text in images (as AI cannot read it), and including sections like FAQs and bullet points that align with user queries. The update mirrors trends from TikTok, Microsoft, and Perplexity, but ChatGPT’s popularity makes it a key opportunity. Tools like ChatGPT itself or AutoDS AI can simplify this process. The key takeaway is to start preparing now by optimizing listings for AI readability, as the integration is expected soon. Sellers who adapt early will gain a competitive edge, while those who ignore this shift risk falling behind in the evolving e-commerce landscape.
Ready to start building your online business with a smart and supportive community? Sit back and enjoy talks from dropshippers to dropshippers. The AutoDS podcast series that brings expert dropshipping tips to you in the gym, on the bus, or just chilling at home. Our team of pros has been doing it for more than a decade, and we're going to be discussing some tried and tested methods with them in every single episode. So what are you waiting for? Let's talk dropshipping. Breaking news. This will completely change the way that your products are shown to your customers, and potentially expose you to way more traffic than ever before. The entire e-commerce landscape is shifting right now in front of our eyes as we move from traditional shopping to the age of AI shopping. ChatGPT will soon be a huge potential driver of sales and could even replace your store front as your most important online presence. Why? Because the latest update from ChatGPT shows evidence that Shopify checkout will soon be directly built in. This means you'll be able to buy products directly within ChatGPT without ever leaving the chat. This is going to make things so much easier and so much faster for the end user or customer. Now this completely removes the friction of having to market your products to your customers, placing them to buy and having a trustworthy store front and more. While yes, this is all still very important, this shift will make things so much easier. And honestly, a lot smoother. Instead of someone going to your store, they'll be able to buy directly from ChatGPT. Instead of people having to ask Google and search through tons of different websites, page 1 through like, I don't know. Nobody goes past page 2, right? People have to search through tons of different websites. ChatGPT will instead just suggest a list of the products that you're potentially needing with the ability to buy them right then and there directly on the platform. Instead of simply checking out on a regular checkout page or having to redirect you to, let's say, a Shopify store. So you're pretty much going to be having a conversation, making it a lot more personable, even if it's with AI. ChatGPT is taking all of the best things about a brick and mortar store and making them all digital. So how can you get down on this and take advantage of the millions of people that are using ChatGPT? Well, I'll get to that in just a second, but for now, let's start with why this is important. And overall, how it could work. So in case you didn't know, ChatGPT gets over 5 billion visits per month. Now not only that, but open AI, they want to dramatically increase the number to even more by the end of the year. That's a lot of people. So to add to that, Shopify is really pushing for AI as well. They're really pushing to be an AI-driven company, pretty much saying AI first. So naturally, the leading AI search tool plus the world's number one e-commerce platform equals a win-win for everyone, both consumers and businesses. ChatGPT gets more users to stay on its platform longer and Shopify reaps the rewards of increased traffic. That benefits not just Shopify, but e-commerce business owners as well. People like you and me. Some people than ever are using ChatGPT for the most basic of questions. Some even for medical reasons. Not gonna lie, I literally just asked ChatGPT why my ear feels clogged and it gave me like 5 different possibilities of what it could be. And it even said that some over-the-counter medications could help. Now with this new update, it would be suggesting a product for you to buy directly in the answers that it provides. Instead of just telling you, you can take some sort of over-the-counter medication without really giving you any suggestions. So let's talk about a different example now. So I'm a parent, right? I have two kids that just go absolutely crazy throughout the house sometimes. And every once in a while, we find some pretty hard to take off stains on the walls. They love to paint with crayons and sometimes they even get into the markers. So I can go to ChatGPT and ask it, what can I use to get this stubborn stain off of my wall? And again, it'll suggest to me a couple of different things that I could do, but with a new update, it'll also include some product links and product images that I can literally just buy from within that platform. Have you ever seen that meme about that guy that's walking home and he says, "I can't wait to tell ChatGPT about my day." That is now true or more than it ever has been. And for good reason, ChatGPT is a legitimate source of information. And to be honest, as weird as it sounds, people have actual conversations with it. It's like talking to a friend or to a shop clerk at this point. While it's definitely still not perfect, it pretty much simplifies the internet and just overall research or product research to if we want to get specific. ChatGPT is and has always been recommending products for people to use, but not specific ones. It would give you a general answer or a few suggestions and then you'd have to go out and buy them or go to, I don't know, somewhere like Amazon, look for the products and then order them. But all of that is about to change. You see, ChatGPT has been going through tons of updates and one of the biggest things that stood out to those who were digging around ChatGPT's insights was the fact that there are now a few new snippets of code that weren't there before. Code that shows a native checkout option along with a product offering click. Now there's an unofficial announcement from OpenAI or from Shopify just yet, but the fact that it's there means a lot. Historically, finding these new snippets of code means that in about one or two new feature or update releases, the new feature is going to be rolled out. If all of this sounds familiar, there's a reason why. ChatGPT isn't the first to do this. They're taking a page out of TikTok's book and integrating in app purchases. We all know how massively important TikTok shop has become to drop shipping and e-commerce overall. Microsoft also has its own Co-Pilot Merchord program and perplexity. They also have their one click buy with pro option that was released last November. But ChatGPT is by far the most popular AI search tool, so a native integration with Shopify could mean a vast new audience for your products. And the best part, it seems to be all for free. Just like ChatGPT now recommends websites and sources for your searches, it could be recommending products to help the end user. So how can we take advantage? Well again, there isn't a lot of details on this out just yet because there has been no official statement made, but there are a few things we can do to start preparing right now. Now one very obvious thing is to essentially start optimizing your listings for SEO. If your title and description aren't SEO optimized and just random keywords string together, like I don't know, let me think. LED dog collar leather waterproof nighttime visibility dog chain, for example. This is horrible. Instead, go for something that's easy to read and actually descriptive. Something like waterproof LED dog collar leather rechargeable night visibility safety collar. Something like that something that's a bit more descriptive and easier to read. By the way, that was also generated by ChatGPT. Now same goes for the description. Don't just have random bullet points and things that aren't relevant. Optimize your description by talking a bit about the product, what it's used for, how it's used, the benefits, and more importantly, the problems it can solve. Now one very important thing to mention is that the way that your typical SEO works, you know, the way that Google would read it is way different than the way that ChatGPT is going to be reading it from. ChatGPT will take all of that clunky and messy information, like bulleted lists, tables, and really any data that you may have, and it essentially simplifies it for the reader. The main point that I'm trying to make right now is to be descriptive. We want to balance SEO for Google and generative AI like ChatGPT. A little bit of both. Oh, and also remember that you need to watch out with the text that you have in your images. I've seen a lot of people do this. A lot of people have an image with some descriptive text in it, something that talks about, I don't know, the problem or what your product can be used for. That's a no-no. ChatGPT is not going to be reading the text in the images. It can't do that. At least not yet. But what it can read from an image is the alt text. The text that you set as the description for the image for anyone that may be visually impaired or have a hard time seeing the screen. So remember to take that into consideration. But the actual images, don't put any text in there. Now just a few other examples that you can include would be things like a frequently asked section or a fact section, a table of contents, some bullet points and other sections like that where you can provide a little bit of extra information. Now this would really be what ChatGPT reads and takes into consideration when it searches for the answers to the questions the user is asking. If it notices that your questions, your descriptions and your answers all line up with the problem that was posed by the user or the question that was asked, then the likelihood of your product being shown is going to be way, way higher. Optimizing your SEO is hard if you're doing it by yourself. But luckily, there are a lot of different tools to help you out with this. For one, you can use ChatGPT itself. Just give it your title and your description and ask it to optimize for SEO and readability. But there's also another way easier tool that you can take advantage of. And that's the AutoDS title and description optimizer, which also uses AI. As a member of the AutoDS family, which by the way, right now you can sign up for just one dollar for the next two weeks, you can get access to dropshipping AI.
