The Most Apocalyptic Ending In Football History | Hour 3 (feat. Amin Elhassan)
41m 46s
The Dunlabata show, in partnership with DraftKin Sports, highlights a range of unusual and memorable football events from the weekend. A major story involves Dejon Love, a 49ers receiver, allegedly scaring 60 women with fraudulent schemes, despite not resembling a real 49ers player. The Bucks vs. Browns game is noted as the first in history to feature two coaches named Todd. A standout moment is the absurd and dangerous end to NC State’s game against Vanderbilt, where the team, dominating the game with seconds left, fumbled in the end zone during a loop-de-loop, leading to a bizarre and illogical loss. Other highlights include a rare head fake play by a receiver that resulted in a 65-yard gain, a controversial defensive collapse against a struggling Cardinals team, and the growing frequency of extreme weather events disrupting games—such as a 157-degree hot turf in Tennessee and flooding delaying a Bucks-Browns game. The show also features a viral moment of Dallas Turner’s final drive, where he bull-rushed a player and allowed a spike, creating a powerful emotional climax. Notably, the show emphasizes the absurdity of the NC State game end, calling it one of the most stupid and poorly executed endings in football history, with no clear strategy or safety in decision-making. The segment also includes humorous off-topic moments such as a reference to "ikabada crane," a 19th-century reference, and a bizarre merchandise release by Oxford United featuring "United 93" and "Blazend" on September 11. Finally, the show ends with a joke about the unpredictability of football, especially when human error, weather, and poor judgment collide.
You are listening to the Dunlabata show. In partnership with the DraftKin Sports app. Now live in all 50 estates. (upbeat music) - My list is a bit of a mess. There's a bunch of stuff that I haven't gotten to. We've got about an hour left and I have to go through all of these here and get into my top 10 'cause these are done to in order this week. So number 18 is that over the weekend in terms of exclusive football observations only to be found here on the show of most interesting things to happen in football is over the weekend that Fraudster Dejon Love 35 more women came forth bringing the total now to 60 of women who were scammed by a 49ers receiver who looks nothing like a 49ers receiver even when he's doing workouts in the sand in his helmet. Dejon Love is now up to 60 women scammed. Number 17, as I mentioned before. - Wait, that was number nine. - Bucks and Browns is the first game featuring two Todd's coaching in the history of the sport. Number 16 is the, there's no reason to watch the Steelers this year. Number 15 is the Packers are one in six in their last seven games. Number 14 is the Bengals have fixed their defense evidently. I think there was a play late in that game. I think I'm not sure whether it was at the half. Maybe I don't remember when it was, but the Texans offensive line is so bad that the Bengals were rushing three and dropping back into coverage and two of them still got to stride and knocked him 20 yards behind the ball when they were only rushing three. - Good defensive coordinator. Florida Sage should take a look at him. - Number 13 is Holy shit, Trinidad Chamblis. Is there anyone better than Trinidad Chamblis at the position? - He might be the best quarterback in the nation and yet he might not be the best quarterback in his own state. - He was special and there were a number of different things from that game that were fun. Lane Kiff and still even in losing said, quote, the stadium was full an hour early. So I guess I had to leave to get them to do that. You're welcome. - There's a big game between Texas A&M and LSU. - LSU. - That is happening this weekend. I still don't know what to make of LSU because they beat up on a really bad Clemson team. And we were all blown away by that and it turns out Clemson's ass. Now, great job by them to come back. They really clawed their way back into that with QB power over and over again. But we'll see how this works out for LSU. But we're already doing the SEC thing where if you lose to an SEC team, you only, that's also top 15. You only go down two spots. - Well, this is why, and number 12 on my observations is this is why Pat McAfee can sit on the college game day set and say to the camera, I think LSU is gonna win the national championship and I think they're going to win it by 50, but I predict because all these old Miss fans are standing behind me that old Miss wins this game even though I said all the other things that I said. - I mean, that can happen. A lot of people think that about my Amy scheduled this year. It's tough to be the team twice again. One observation that I made last week, keep an eye on Monday night countdown because Pat McAfee appears to have a college football accent and an NFL accent. - Y'all. - Number 11 here, Zazlow. This is interesting to me because I'm approaching the top 10 and Amino Hassan is gonna be here and I have some other things that I want to talk about. But I believe that I saw, before we head into the top 10 here, I believe that I saw what I think is the greatest feeling any football player of any kind felt this weekend. If you guys have to nominate the best feeling that course through someone during or after a game who would you nominate for just who was the person who felt the best thing in all of the football that was being played this weekend. - And Dishon Watson probably was really happy? - Yeah, his burner seems to be. - So he's happy for a number of different reasons, including something that I didn't believe that I would see 'cause I haven't seen it before. What happened with Dishon Watson is they were saying that their quarterback situation would be up for grabs after this game unless he won it, which was strange. Like it was being reported as Dishon Watson has to win this game in order to keep his job for week three. - Everybody was rooting for Baker to beat the crap at it, I'm even Brown's fans themselves. So it was a big moment for Dishon and you just love it when good things happen to great people. - I think it's true. I mentioned it last week that if they were 0 and 2 and the quarterback was playing poor and the fan base already hates the quarterback, he can't be the starter go and it's the home opener week three. - So this is what I'm nominating for the single greatest feeling in football this weekend and that's a good nominating. But I'm nominating Dallas Turner. Do you know why? Because you said that game was never in doubt. But the way that game ended is Dallas Turner is bull rushing and he's taking what looked physically like a tight end to me. I don't think it was the left level. - It was leveled. - Yeah, he's taking Loveland and he's throwing him into Baygent in a way that allowed him at the end of that game in Chicago to spike, to like the way you throw a javelin into the ground to spike the quarterback. And so to have the strength at the end of an NFL football game, to have the stamina and strength at the very end of your back paddling on a drive and you're exhausted because you've played a full NFL game. To take a giant guy and bull rush him into the quarterback and then just discard him so that you can then spike the quarterback and leave that stadium totally deflated. I don't believe there was a better feeling that anyone left the stadium with this weekend. Close to Brian Flores. Like he saw Ben Johnson's like, okay, you have the best offensive football, okay, we'll see when the rain's pouring, when it's the field is muddy. Let's see what we do with 65% blitz rate. Was it was it that low? I thought he was at 77%. That was yes, that was last week. This week he dialed the back a little bit, 65% blitz rate. Down lebertar. The person who insists that. Dave, then a check. When they make a list of the great first, well, the first one is when they say of all time. This is the down lebertar show. (upbeat music) All right, so we're finally at our top 10 here, and I don't know if we're gonna have enough show to get to the final 10, and I also don't know if I've counted right here. So I'm not paused. No, you've been locked in, you're good. I'm not positive that I have 10 remaining. We'll see how this goes. But let's first go to Amino Hassan and get his weekend observations before we get into my top 10. It is time for him to share his game notes. No one in the media will tell you what happened better than my boy. I mean, weekend observations is brought to you by Miller Light. Legendary moments start with the light. Then, first off, name your little bit something else. Observations of mine. Get your own thing. Musings, perhaps head scratchers, things to make you go, whatever you want to call it. You're stolen from still guns. They weren't high, they didn't steal anything. No, those were called game notes. Yes, totally different. Then, I really grow and I hate this time of year. Everywhere I go, people can't seem to shut the fuck up about it. I turn on my TV and it's on every channel. I turn on podcasts and everyone's talking about it. My one solace in life is knowing that as far as I know, we're the only country that participates in this form of mania, talking, of course, about pumpkin spice season, holy man. If it's so damn popular, why don't they sell it year round? That's my question. I can't hear anything, but it's okay. Well, if I got to see one, there was silence. Nobody, it was sure, we did not react. Well, we were just pondering because you're right. I mean, there's nothing better than a pumpkin spice. Now I can hear the music, so that helps me a little bit. It helps me in my moments of solitude. I got to see one more ad or one more IG post over here. One more person, gleefully wags poetic about their pumpkin spice filling the blank. I'm going to go ikabada crane and terrorize some small New England town. I remember ikabada crane. I feel like this is a 20-seed. That's a good one. I've mentioned that and they've mocked me for making a reference that was so old. I love ikabada crane. But the last time I mentioned it, everyone here was making fun of me because it's a reference that's so old. It's 19 CV. I mean, he wrote it in like 18 something, but I'm just saying like, I grew up and like, you couldn't shut the fuck up enough about the headless horseman. Ikabada crane, headless horse, sleepy out. And then like the 21st century happened and we're like, no, we're not talking about that anymore. And that's it. Rip Van Winkle's another one. When I was growing up, anyone sleeping, you taking that, but oh, look at Rip Van Winkle, I mean, ha ha ha. Rip Van Winkle now.
Mike is on a rip van what call is put on the pole at Levitage show. Do you know who rip van Winkle is? The Eagles narrowly escaped the lowly Titans The Raiders what the charges asked and moved to two and oh the Raiders are two and oh And the Browns the Browns beat the bucks on the road My head was spinning by four PME so nothing nauseous and disoriented Luckily Niners dolphins came on to send me right back down All reliable you'll never let me down LSU mississippi game of the year It's a question for the room game of the year. Get name a game with it's only in three weeks The hype and that so then this is the game of the year. Oh, I know game of yours so far. United 93 and Blazend on it on September 11th. Come on. No. Come on. Yes. No, you remember. Is it wrong to see I pay a million bucks for that right there? I'm going to help for laughing one night. Yeah. Speaking of hell, Argentina, those other weekend observations. Excellent work, as always. I mean, good to see you. Thank you for stopping by. Thank you for providing what is every week. One of the best things that we do around here. Dan Lebatar. No. Dan Lebatar Show. PJ. Dave, then a check. That's pretty good. This is the Dan Lebatar Show. Number 10 on my list. Zero. Observation. One. Or musings from the weekend, football. Number 10. Travis Kelsey now has more yards after the catch than anyone in NFL history. Roy, what happened to the sounds you were playing after? Number nine. Zero. This is the Lions last 14 possessions for their defense. Okay. The last 14 possession. 10 touchdowns allowed one field goal, one misfield goal, two puns, no turnovers. They are playing a bunch of people in their secondary who should not be in the NFL. Number eight. Negative one. Kirk Herb Street is hiding his politics. Four late. You know he's got a dog. Number seven. Negative two. One of my favorite broadcast moments from the weekend. There are two broadcast moments from the weekend, but one of my favorite was the announcer screaming Cam Ward would not be denied and they spotted the ball at the one. If you ever utter the phrase football, family, and faith, you're not disguising your politics. I know exactly who you voted for. Number six, who the hell is Darius Cooper? You all had that reaction, correct? You all had the reaction of who the hell is Darius Cooper? Where did that person come from? Why is he wide open in the end zone? Number five is from that same game and nobody listening to this realizes just how strong Jaylen Hertz is. I know that you know what he squats some of you, but I will tell you that on the last drive where the Eagles won that game, a play that will be forgotten. Jacob Martin off the right edge comes in unblocked on the blind side, unblocked, okay? This is Jacob Martin's 260 pounds unblocked on the blind side and hits Jaylen Hertz in the back and Hertz doesn't move, like doesn't go down, I expected a strip sack. I expected a fumble, I expected at the very least a sack and all he does is throw it out of bounds and they end up winning the game after that because they weren't in a sack situation with the clock winding down because I just have not seen that very often where the quarterback is blindsided. He did not see it coming and it was untouched. No one blocked him, he was just coming off of the edge and was never touched by anyone. Hit Jaylen Hertz in the back and Jaylen Hertz just threw the ball away, did not go down. Very few quarterbacks in the NFL have that like bounce ability where it's like, all right, I'm going to tackle him. Oh wait, no, I'm not. He's going right past me or he just went through me, right? I feel like Josh Allen has that. I feel like Lamar's got a little bit of that where he very rarely like gets destroyed and Jaylen Hertz. Number four here. Negative five is you noticed, right? You notice how careful everyone is on defense and you noticed yesterday how few of these giant plays offense is ever have, right? Like giant touchdown scoring plays based on that. Can anyone explain to me how it is humanly possible that chaining for the best receiver and football and he's 20 yards beyond everyone in your secondary when there are no plays like that in the NFL anymore that the one where he did the head fake. Yeah. Let's go move the head fake Dan, they were playing zone and it feels like the corner was supposed to hand off to the safety who also got shook by the head fake that he gave to the corner. So he kind of like turn around like, oh, wait, where is he? And he was 65 yards on the down the field. Can anyone explain to me how that's possible? The Seahawks, the defending champions are playing with their backup quarterback. The one thing you cannot allow is that receiver to do all of the things that he did yesterday. I know that he is pretty unstoppable, but he's not supposed to be unstoppable when you're down to your backup quarterback and he's sure as hell not supposed to be 20 yards beyond your secondary because no one's accounted for him. Are we simplifying it too much if I remind that they're playing a really bad cardinals team? Well, but wait a minute. The Cardinals did win the first week of the season and what beat the chargers. But okay, but they won the first week of the season and still there's no circumstance under which an NFL team should blow a coverage so badly against that receiver. Let anyone else do it. Not that guy. You know, there's no circumstance under which he should be. You're planning all week to play the Seahawks. I'm sure he flashed. The only way that Drew Lock is beating you is if he throws it to that guy. He's not going to beat you throwing it to anybody else. Number three is I do believe that Tom Brady had his single most human and the best moment of his broadcasting career with it. Did you hear the other one he had? That one was great too. He was trying to figure out, all right, what do I say here because it was a great pass to a wide receiver in between the corner and the safety and this is how it came out. Absolutely piss missile up the sidelines. That's what the boys say also that's one of the words that you can't say. What? You can't say. You can't say. What? Yeah. He's more likely to get in trouble for that. You can't say. No. No. It's when it's mad with you. I don't know what a whistle is. A dismissal, Dan. I can tell you don't have. Yeah. Absolutely. It's a rock. Yeah. It's a laser beam throw. That's what you call it. Camario Taylor. Yeah. Missile. But what is that? A rocket. Yeah. Just a missile. So what the boys call a laser beam throw? No. There's rockets. And then there's rockets. And then there are absolute rockets. Yes, correct. Yes. Interchangeable with missile. Yes. Or, as you mentioned, just a Camario Taylor pass. That kids a good player. It's guys recruiting. Number two. I get my list of football musings from the weekend. We are just at the start of really strange weather events that are going to start affecting football games throughout the entirety of this season. And I'm not just talking about what happened, Bucks Brown's, where the game is delayed for two hours because of flooding. The field in Tennessee was so hot that cleats were melting. It was 157 degrees on the turf. That was real? Yes. A Cereani required an IV. There's other stuff happening, right? An Iowa band member died. There was a division two running back who died on the sideline. People are saying in Texas that they're not going to be able to play day games very soon in Texas because you can't have cleats melting. I felt really bad for the fans who were watching Bucks Brown's. I felt bad for the players as well to sit around for two hours when you're that amped up and then have to go back out there and try to decide a football game. The fans have denied a good experience in terms of having their team win. I don't know why you'd go back into that stadium and I'm just telling you, if you're not paying attention to the things happening with this super Nino, it's about to get a lot worse. This is just the start of what's going to be a really rough couple at like eight months and it's going to, this is happening all over the place in college football where you've got weather events delaying things because what's approaching here isn't any kind of normal. And I do believe that within all of our lifetimes, they're going to have to move to domes everywhere. You can't or night games. You can't keep playing the games at noon when people are dying. That's not something. You've got parents and everybody in the stands in Texas, they're going to medical tents because they need, they need IVs. Can I say something for you judgment? I like a precautionary for safety delay. I like what it does to the football schedule. I like having a wayward game that's in the witching hour while everything else is just getting going. I like that. It was like granted, totally different thing, but remember when like Monday night football was on Tuesdays because they were like, oh, we got away for the test. That was dope. And finally, my number one musing from all of the interesting things from the football weekend.
How does NC State lose a football game that way? That is the single most apocalyptic result. I believe I can argue without being a knee-joker in the history of Football and I saw her in Edwards grab a Larry Zonka football with the Giants at the end of a game that they were running the ball And I think it was before the victory kneel. I believe I believe Mario Cristobal not kneeling against Georgia Tech He's off the hook whistle. I believe he's been replaced. This was the dumbest thing I have ever seen at the end of a football game if you do not know North Carolina State controlled the entirety of that game against Vanderbilt and at the end there are six seconds left And they've got the ball and the lead with six seconds left and all they have to do is run out of the back of the end zone for a Safety if they want or drop back roll out and throw the ball 50 yards down field although that's dangerous because if you leave any time You're leaving the ball at the three yard line for Vanderbilt But instead they fumble in the end zone while doing loop de loops in the end zone And I've just I've never seen a game end that way I'm going throughout the history of the sport and I don't think I'm being a knee-joker when I say it It was remarkably stupid. It doesn't even make sense But how does the quarterback not just go down? What are you waiting for? He could have ran out the back of the end zone. All right, fine, but just go down and And by the way, how come we're not making a bigger deal out of the time that was put back on the clock like they added a Seconds they can kick the extra point which Dan yeah for the cover. Yeah, they got that's weird, right? There was clearly no time left I'm not talking about no time left like Michigan Western Michigan I'm talking about the ball was on the ground in the end zone and there are zeroes across the clock my cad NC stayed on the money line Mm-hmm. Yeah, that's the worst beat I've ever had I'm almost kind of glad Because I that's a story forever then no one's that's no one camera and dicker. He knows what he did But no this one. Yeah, I'm glad I got to say I witnessed that I didn't even get the cover They didn't even get the cover and you had it all game like they were dominating the entirety of the game I went to the bathroom. I came back Vanderbilt was celebrating I was like what did was there a punt return what what happened here? I mean, you really can just drop back to pass and then like chuck it out of bounds in the direction of a receiver Yeah, he's got a big arm and the game's over that was that I've never I Obviously never seen anything like that in high school football Someone was driving and they went to spike the clock it and the ball slipped out of their hands And it was a fumble and the other team got it that happened this weekend still not on the same like This was a game as they mentioned that NC say totally controlled. There's there's ACC SEC narratives at play here This is bigger than all of us guys tuck it Run out of the back. I don't I don't believe Zaz that I'm being a knee jerker or a prisoner of the moment when I say That in all of the years that I have been watching football I have never seen a game and like that with an intergalactic stupidity where the only thing That you cannot do the only thing is Fumble the football there the priority there no matter how much time you leave on the clock is to simply fall in the end zone and make sure There's not a circumstance under which anyone can take the football from you because even if you leave a few seconds on the clock All you're allowing for is a return after a safety which I thought they were going to take anyways I thought they were going to run straight out of I thought they were going to or loftski it They were just gonna run straight out of the back of the end zone. Yeah, we see that. I'd try to Not get touched but just run to a corner of the end zone evade what you could and step out and then Do the punt thing but if you don't even want to do that You can just snap it right out of the end zone and just go and kick it from the 20 yard line Kick it from the 25 yard line. They wanted to kill some time there Which is why Bailey found himself in that situation. No, the move is the move is shotgun and Chuck the ball up at a bounce in the direction of the receiver. See that leaves yes You'd like to do that within six seconds and you probably could do that within six seconds But there are things that can go wrong there including the ball slipping out of the quarterback's hand or a bad Snapper things can go wrong. Heaven forbid something go wrong Yes, no, it was really risky. I just don't I really don't understand the logic of that and just as I was saying Earlier in the show. I was saying that there was nobody in the sport who had a better feeling this weekend Then Dallas Turner and I should tell everybody as it relates to Dallas Turner's next gen stats reveal He leads all players with 20 pressures and 10 quick pressures. That's under two and a half seconds He has six more pressures than anyone in the sport 80 and 80 and Hutchinson is second place But he's a distant second because this guy is a real honest menace But the opposite of him feeling good. I can't imagine Anyone feeling worse after a football game than the way NC State Has to feel after that football game. Not anyone this way. Jay Bailey has to feel the worst and I was going to say the person that Feels the best in all his sports is anybody that had Vanderbilt to cover They had the best weekend in sports. I mean you losing that not just on the money line But what's as is saying where they covered where Vanderbilt covered because the spread in that game was either Three or three and a half depending on where it is that you got your line And I don't understand why they're kicking the extra point how they put a second back What's the rationale there there was no time left? I just want to remind everybody that somebody had to not stepped on this weekend Wasn't just a nut the but hole. Yeah, the good. Yeah, the tip of the cleat was likely on the scrotum sack It's a little redundant when I say scrotum sack. Yeah, that's on me bag. Yeah Everybody knows they scrotum is the sack. It's like the same thing Stupid I shouldn't say that That felt bad for a moment the way NC State is going to feel bad is eternal Yeah, that door is going to finally lose his job. I do that that that That has huge consequences that might keep an ACC team out of the CFP in some weird way I mean the cowboy's might not be able to have kids. I do word association with her med words where I think of one play with him in the entirety of both his Playing career coaching career and I guess I'd add his broadcast in career. So three times one play He recovered a fumble in the metal lens in a game that was over Larry Zonko was handed a ball I believe it was before victory Formation was event invented.
