(upbeat music) - On Gideop, it's time for the Melbourne Breakdown with David Gaetlin. - Gaetlin, how are you? - We just off the pace a little bit, very un-gout-gout-like for this time. - Yes, yes. - It's a thing, but we got there, we've got the scenic route, but we got there. - What'd you make of gout-gout on the weekend? - Well, I mean, obviously, if you've been using bolts two and a meter time, I'd put that on my CV. - Yeah, I don't know about you. - Yeah, it was an under 20, but it was a pretty fast day, that wasn't it like a lot of them vote their PV. So I think that has to be factored in, but I mean, jeez, how can you run fast if you're not fast? Right. It's a very good point. One man that said Gareth, Rick, every time he's watching he's screaming, he's cleaning out. He said, "Hello, Hutchie. You don't make a kickoff with that." - I wouldn't let me assign to those. - Yes. - So I was being running down the Hadov might. - Yes, Rick. What time do you reckon you could have gone in your high day there when you're in Western Australia? Have you ever worked with the great Gator before? - Of course I have. - Yes. - Early doors. - Yeah. - Good to chat to him. I haven't spoken with Gator for many, many, but it's probably years now, Gator, isn't it? - Well, it's a massive win for you. (laughing) - Yeah, but no, we were together on.com for quite a while. And then obviously I switched the sky and, but yeah, we're all on the same team, right? We're promoting the great Gator. - Yes. And looking forward to dissecting what happened there on the weekend. - Yeah, we might start with the Queen Elizabeth because it was the race that everybody was talking about. The Victorian Craig Williams, well, he did it again on the big stage to take out that Queen Elizabeth for Adrian Bodden, Gay Waterhouse, and Sir Dilly as well. He couldn't make it to the Cox plate last year, but he got to the Queen Elizabeth, and this is what he did to cause one of the, well, I don't know if it was the one of the biggest upsets in Australian racing history, but it was an upset. They got everybody talking anyway after the race. - Sir Deleus, making his beat for Vectree. Late by a length of a half, Autumn Glow is grinding away, and Lindemann down the outside, Autumn Glows in trouble. Sir Deleus is this his big name, and Sir Deleus too in front. Lindemann, Autumn Glow, do the chasing, but Sir Deleus takes out the Queen Elizabeth stakes, done it by two lengths. Lindemann from last second, Autumn Glow, third. These horses obviously, you know, once in a lifetime, also difficult to come across. So, I wanted to be able to really achieve that big race win for them, and we've been able to get part of the way there today. We've got a couple of slippers, but it's just right up there with one of your great moments with Gaint. - Yeah, no doubt, in terms of sort of the weight-fraid races, I'd say this is the biggest one that we've been able to win together. - They're credit to Adrian Bott, Galewell Hallett, House and their team. I come in and parted him two weeks ago in his piece of work, and I just said, look, the horse's going really well. He's not fast enough. A weak laid, I come back in Tuesday morning, and sat on him, and I said to the team, I said, you done a fantastic job. Adrian, all your team, I done an amazing job because I wanted to get the turn up on race day and rider, and I give him some feedback in the morning, and I said, when in the spring, he was flying, he was airborne. And the only time I'd felt that since then, was Tuesday morning, and wow, what an amazing race horse. - Yeah, what a race it was, Galewell. What did you make of this year's Queen Elizabeth? - Yeah, look, I think statistically, you know, in a big group, one $1.30, beaten favourite. You know, he was right up there, one massive upset in our history, but purely from a racing perspective, I mean, he was just too strong, you know, for the trip, and he not only was too strong for her, he probably had a run that was a little more taxing. So he chased that fearsome speed, they made an early move, and he was as strong as anything on the line. So look, what was an exception. When he's running the two minutes flight, you know, for 2,000 metres, Autumn Globe pealed off his back, was actually gone better than him when they straightened. And I think we all thought, including Darren Flindel, here she comes, and she looks she battled on game, she bit Juboana, a world class horse clearly. So it wasn't a bad effort, but she just wasn't as strong as he in the trip, it's as simple as that, and you know, and she didn't get cold at both of them, and Lindemann, who was going well, for second. So, it'd be interesting what her future holds, whether they try 2000 again, and probably less likely than likely, if they get a faster one, 2000. It was interesting, wasn't it, because I mean, we thought Lindemann had probably take up the running, and then we saw Light Infantry Man go out and go hard. I know it suits him, but I don't know if it suits him, if he's the one doing it, and that might be the issue, but you have to just say all on as the winner, I think, so DLS was fantastic. I mean, travel world chased that speed, it was a test, and he showed that when there is the pressures on, that he can turn up, and autumn glow, you'd have to say, you were feeling pretty comfortable with yourself, at the top of the straight, and you'd have to say, she didn't see that as strong as the others. I mean, it wouldn't be an optimum trip at this stage of her career. You'd have to say that she's performed, obviously, better over shorter, but she's still running. I'm an amazing race. I think there's a couple of points here, as McDonnell said, after the race, and I've heard him speak a few times, since the Quenna Elizabeth, if the race was run like it was, say, over the 1600 or 1500, with the tempo that she's been competing against, or she probably would have won, basically. - Yeah, but that's racing, I mean, that is racing. - So the tactics changed, it was talk about how they going to beat autumn glow, and obviously, Kira, Mar and Ethan Brown had a plan to say, okay, if we're going to try and beat her, we're going to try and take her outside of her. A comfort zone, in the end that suited, so Dilius had sued, say, autumn glow. So the interesting part now is that, Dilius, he would have won the Cox plate last year on that run, if you're reckon. If he, if he, it's all guess where, it's all guess where, - I mean, he was the horse of the spring at that time, and you would have thought that if he held his form, he was going to be tough to beat. - Yeah, and now he's the favoritest, the horse to beat, for this year's Cox plate, I don't know, we've got to wait to, like, to October for Flemington, but I'm just trying to get it confirmed whether he has had his bar lifted by racing victories just yet. So that'll be interesting, but what would you do with autumn glow now, Gator? Is she King Charles champions, Marl Horse in your eyes now? - Look, I think it's probably pretty obvious, you know, yeah, I mean, you know, she's been unbeatable, literally, up in, you know, distance range, it hasn't seen. Not only winning, but winning well-running exceptional talent, which makes it really challenging for the opposition. Yeah, and look, on Sir Billy, if something, he'd just beaten VS. Deena and Buckaroo, had me in the corner of the Cox plate. If it was that easy, it would all be mean is, but he was favorite for a reason, yeah. - One of the great rides I reckon was Nash Rilla on Linderman, because everyone expects him to be up in front, and that's the pattern of Linderman, but then he quickly realizes that he's there going too quick here. Like, his horse has never gone this quick, and all of a sudden he's going, well, I'm quite happy to be lost. I'm going to ride this horse because he knows this horse better than anyone. I had a chat to Nash after he went so close to betting autumn glow at their last start, and he said, well, I just know this horse, like, how he produced one of the fantastic rides of the City of Carnival, didn't he? Was it last year or the year before where we went to the outside fence, though? But that's what they get paid the big bucks for. - I'm not going to be saying. They've got to be, the elite jockeys on the run make the right calls more often than not. They don't get right all the time they can. But, yeah, I mean, I like it when they sort of adapt with how the race is unfolding, and conversely, without if they're going slow, someone do something about it, we seem to be, don't have that in our DNA as much, is where there's something just playing out. You think, what are they doing, but no, he's a fantastic rider. - And he nearly got their Linderman. I'd love to see Gator, for instance, I know that Woll is kept him in Sydney, but I'd love to see him in a Cox play. - Yeah, look, I think on his current form, you can make a strong case for this competitive, can't you? Given he just split to the earliest and on him go, I'm proud of that, he made Aliana. I think it was worth to beat him. - Yeah. - So, I mean, they're the A grade, and if he's named with something else, this prep, he'd be a lot shorter in a few market, honey. - Gator's a lot more over the Sydney form than I am. But Gator's fair to say that he's a little underrated, like he keeps being beat by all these stars sort of Linderman, and he's always there or thereabouts and a lot of these races. - Yeah, and I think that's a fair call. I think a lot of us, and probably me included, were going on his previous form, but this prep, he's been as good as any of them almost, within inches, animated, and just beat home autumn glow. So, he, I think, as I say, if his name was something else into this prep, I reckon in all those races, he'd be a shorter quote based on, because what, we go on their long history rather than their previous history, I think, sometimes. - Yeah, so he was second in a ran fit behind Alianna, and he gave her a hell of a scare. He was third in the Apollo behind autumn glow. This is Linderman. He's won just over five million now, second in the Queen Elizabeth. - Absolutely, Ripper. - And then Alianna, she's the favorite for the Cox plate, with bet three, six, five at the moment. Kalland again, four, 50s, probably more unlikely than likely, but we haven't given hope up. We haven't given up on him coming to Melbourne for a Cox plate. So, Dilless is at 450. So, we've got three equal favorites there. And then she's alibi, seven that won't go there. Gostads, the international nine dollars at autumn glow. Hutchies more chance of going around in the Cox plate next all this year at $11. So, half yours at 15 that we're talking about. get to see first up in an all age on Saturday. So a week's a long time enraising her. She is a long time. It is. And with Autumn glow, yeah, I saw Chris come out and apologize. I don't think he's got anything to apologize about. I mean, I thought that was a bit strange. Yeah, this is what he had to say on his social media platforms yesterday. He said, "A Autumn glow has come through yesterday's run well, which has been pleasing to see. I'm disappointed for the horse as she gave everything in the race, but I simply got her distance range wrong. I apologise to everyone for that. We'll accept defeat graciously and come back better. We'll now look ahead to the spring. We're Autumn glow. Can shine again. I'll speak with the owners, map out an exciting preparation and keep you updated. Congratulations to Sir Dillius and their team on a brilliant win." What do you make of that? Well, I'd be apologising about 18 times a meeting of the other things that I get wrong. I don't know about you, Gator, but it's a race. You've got to find out what the trip is. He's not to know that she wouldn't get the distance. No, I think it's nice of Chris to do that. I don't think there's any need for it. No, no. I think he would have needed to apologise if he didn't go and have a crack at the Queen Elizabeth Gator. Yeah, look, I think you never know to your try, right? I mean, there were #DataExpert telling him, "Winks wouldn't run $2,000." So, whoops. You know, had they never gone? Well, they wouldn't have known. And certainly wouldn't have four cox plates and immortality. So, how do you know to your try? There were mixed reports on Autumn glow through the same data expert whether she would be strong at 2000. She wasn't as strong as the others, but still in her own right, she still won a bit over two minutes late. For that, for 2000 metathode, it's an exceptional gallop. She just had two halls in front of it. And there was interesting discussion late last week. I think Mick Guren pointed this out to Michael Felgate on his podcast, The Vertict, and he said that there's a chance that if when they go to the UK with Autumn glow, the 1200 metres will be the race that they target, which is the last group won for the sprinters on the final day. And I reckon that's the plan. I reckon Mick Guren's on the money. Yeah, I've heard that. I'm not sure that would be a right trip necessarily. I mean, she's a star. I would have thought the mile somewhere around the mile. Yeah. Well, the Queen ends the other option, which kicks off Ascot. And then, of course, it's a testing mile, but still, yeah, it's a long way away, but it's interesting. Yeah, it is interesting. And just an appreciation for Craig Williams. Yeah, look, he's, he came under a bit of fire, didn't he, for his ride. So suppose was a couple of weeks. No, so he's ride there in the ramp at when he finished third. They weren't happy with his ride. And they were up front with that. And they did have talks after the race, whether he keeps the ride or not in the Queen Elizabeth. So that's fact. And then they realised, so Alan Glengos, no, hang on a sec. Craig Williams won me a Queen Elizabeth with criteria. He's one of the great big time riders. We're going to back him in. We believe in him. And obviously Craig's done the rest. I don't know if he, if he sort of rode contrary to instructions to start before not sure or he didn't make it happen. I don't know about that. I think they wanted to be more forward than they were. Okay. So then they're back to him. And I'll say this about a lot of top jockeys. They might get it wrong once, but if you give him another chance, they usually, they usually make up for it. And I actually like it if they come off something that hasn't gone to plan because they seem to make up for it more often than not. In fact, so I was really happy for him because we know he's a star in the saddle. No, I love Craig Williams. And do you know what? He's such a resilient jocke. He's one of the most, he's a jockey that probably gets criticised the most because he's on the big stage and he rides a lot in the feature aces. And he's always in the spotlight. But when it matters most, he rarely gets it wrong. Does he Craig Williams? And he does his all the success that comes his way and he's still performing at such a high level at the age of the years at the moment. And Gator, we know he does his homework. Yes, he does his homework pre-race and post-race, but at least he's a man that puts the hours in. Well, 100%. And then exactly that. If you get it wrong, you can only blame himself and he can never blame lack of preparation. So you know, that's a great way to live your life, I think. But he he himself said, the horses didn't have the speed in the leg. Last shot. And credit to the stable that they're able to train him a little differently and be able to, you know, be up near the speed, have a head start on on all of them glow. But that's not what won in the race. I mean, I think he had a slightly harder run than the third, the favorit and still was as strong as anything on the line. So yeah, champion rider great for the sport and just an outstanding individual. We inform that athlete. Yeah, I think Adrian and Gave had a couple really like significant victories together, but that was their greatest day. I reckon the Queen Elizabeth. It was build up. I mean, the good thing with Autumn Glow going in is that she's building this record. She's great for the sport from the mainstream point of view. I mean, and got mainstream news because are we unveiling another black caviar or wings that have no the difference in distance? They just see the winning strike rate, right? So it gets eyeballs on the sport. And as Gator said earlier, I mean, that's it's sort of great for promotion. And that's what we're here to do. Do you see Autumn Glow differently now in a way after like the the or around her now sort of it's she's a superstar horse and want to arguably the best horse in this country. But when you lose a race after the winning sequence that she's been on, it does take a little course off her. Yeah, I mean, I think I I didn't have I mean, I think that now we know that she's not as strong compared to others over that trip. I don't I don't so not carried away with the romance of the whole thing because just not when you're doing the formal the time. No, but it would have been fantastic if she had to come out and one I mean, you think, wow, is she going to break all these records? What will they do? Of course, there's a there's a part of you that would feel that. But no, I sort of now I just like be interesting to see where he decides to go. She's still a she's still a very very good horse. Oh, four double nine seven three six seven three six to join our conversation. We'll take our first break. This is the breakdown. Lady Shenandoah hits the leader of the 200 but Idol Flyer chasing her first group one success draws level. Idol Fly moved up to Lady Shenandoah and Idol Fly draws away with a queen of the turf by three quarters. Lady Shenandoah second. I take out the queen of the turf. It was a much anticipated queen of the turf there on Saturday. Of course, with pride of Jenny going around. I just want to check on Gator because I don't know about you Hatch. He was all over. Idol Flyer before the Empire Rose of the spring of last year at Flemington and she was back like she was going to be very hard to beat that day and she didn't fire and then she gets the job down there on Saturday. I'm just typing that you just reminding me. It's Monday morning. I just want to make sure that he followed up on it. You gave her another chance Gator. Well, she was in the quality. Unfortunately, Pearl Chaining of the Guard left me with no. But she was a monster going in that tab Empire Rose. Wasn't she? Back to Ziffon. But it was 12 into favoritism and I think we sit on Thursday. I'm like, I have clever mind. I beat the sport again for the second time in my life when I say again. She just underperformed and what we spoke about on Thursday was just an end of prep run or did pride of Jenny crack her. That's what we didn't know. Well, that was answered on Saturday because that was a fearsome speed and she absorbed that pressure and beat three really good me. It's like top class message. You beat them well then fast time. Proper horse. We didn't get the cash in but we lived a fight another day. What did we learn from that race in your eyes there? How do you care on our fly? Yeah, and I was with sort of get it in the last prep because I'll fly put up a couple of pretty good performances leading the run. So it wasn't an end of prep run. But you know, I was giving her entry to the moment a good chance to talk about the latter in a moment or two. I thought it was a really good win. I thought tactically they got it right. They just got it right. I was very happy for Matthew Smith who's an affable gentleman. He's a really nice guy and he's a very good trainer and Zach Lloyd are young up and coming right. I mean they knew how the race was going to be run. I think what they're doing, some of these other horses now just keeping tabs and keeping pride or keeping Jenny within their sights and they sort of were the ones that benefited with the way that Zach executed the right. You still need the horse to do it. But he had the horse and Idle flyers are very good horse because it's run over the top of Lady Shennandone treasure the moment who are well credentialed themselves. Yeah, the Lady Shennandale surprised you how she was able to cope with that tempo there Gator. Look, I had a second pick leading to the race and I thought she was a clear winning hope. My little query on her was how strong would you be at the end of the mile? Yeah. And a fast run mile if you're going 57, 8,000 first thousand. You know, that if a good test of your endurance levels isn't it? I love that flip stream run though. I think they win a lot those horses that trail a hot speed. And so I think she was every chance. He just found one a bit stronger, you know, but she ran the trip out. She ran time herself. She beat her home treasure the month. She beat her implied to Jenny. So she's gone super. But yeah, one better. Treasure the moment. What'd you make it for? She's not far away. Is she from winning another one? I mean, we all got excited I suppose last at the start of last spring when she was simply breathtaking of course first up was at the Memzi or it was the Memzi that's when pinstripe took off yeah and they ran a P- she had a hundred meter she had a perfect run and and blew them away and then she obviously had the set back seat etc but her run in the Cox plate was enormous and you know she's she's in the conversation among some of the better 16 to 200 2,000 meter horses we have in the land I'm not sure what a best trip is I'm on our skater yeah because I'm still I'm still not I thought it might be a mile but now the way she went on the weekend I think oh maybe you are looking for further yeah it looked like that sort of run didn't it so she was actually alongside I'll fly on the straightened and look just no match for her but she tracked lady Shenanau she couldn't have been ridden any better to give herself the best chance of winning but to just found two a bit stronger against his beatnates and really good there but it was funny look going back to look at that Cox plate she looked to win around the town yeah yeah it was just that last you know it's two thousand forty meters that last hundred they got it so maybe I'm thinking yeah I think she's looking for two thousand now off that but I think the likes of Sir D'Alees and and co will probably probably be a bit too strong for her now going forward yeah they're the other big talking point she always is as pride of Jenny now she looks like she's going to go around again in the spring which is she'll be a nine year old man what do they what's her best trip right now so third up mile after coming off the two thousand best trip as I can't work it out I can't work out when did Tipper and when not I was lucky that I went against her on the weekend but she could have turned up one by five I would have got it completely wrong I've never had a horse that I've been so inaccurate and trying to work out I don't think I'm on my own either no I so I hope see I hope they concentrate on trying to make it three empire roses and because I think that's going to be her best chance in the spring of another big grand final victory she's probably not going to win a King Charles against Autumn Glow there's sixteen hundred flame engine I mean it's been a pretty good rest for her hasn't it go to your thoughts there yeah I think she she's racing like a two thousand meter horse now I think so I thought that first up at sixteen hundred when she didn't get the big lead she didn't the speed in her leg they call it her and then she fought like a lion she went to two thousand meters and again they call it her but she fights she somehow went down a bob of the head with a huge run and back in trip on Saturday they call it her at the two hundred but she didn't drop off she's still there swinging you know after they went by her so I think as she's become a bit older that's that's probably her trip now yeah if the if the if the tab end pyro's was in two weeks I think I'd be backing out of her to be there again yeah yeah it'd be interesting say they go to a cox plater and empire is then we pride the genny is a nine year old man hey gator is tempted the best sprinter in the land after watching her what she did there an arrowfield look I think she's got a seat at the table I mean you don't need me for that the last time she was against the a greatest she beat home Jimmy star she beat home angel capital she beat home jolly star she was a three-year-old silly then to have the weight advantage in the tab ever it all by K. I. Rising if you don't mind and she's unbeaten this prep that have taken you know the lower hanging fruit and that's no disrespect but she's got a seat at the table but she's got to go and prove it against him you can't just play in the second and tell you the best footballer in the team yeah well she's she's still playing in the under 18s when she decided to play in the under 18 cup instead of playing in the in the seniors this carnival that's fact like she should have been in a t. J. Smith or we would have loved to have seen her in a t. J. On Tentara somewhere in the d'Ernie taking my phone it's my moment yeah like I could have delivered yes you haven't stood up mate I thought it wasn't an unbelievable win to win where she did given the way the race was right like they they sort of built from the six hundred and she had a bit of work to do what she's run broken 33 on the way home fantastic performance she's real talent no no question about that and in terms of the best sprint from the land oh well there's no standard is there no there isn't but we need someone to put their hand up because Cahin rising's doing what he's doing he's getting better Wayne Hawkes believes if he draws 12 and he's free while without coming to the start we're not really late why would he be 31 he just put the foot down well we need someone we need we need someone to hold him out there yeah but anyway that was quite kind of saw your shade of the day you must have been must have been very hard for you know sex sex got soft when we start to get stuck in twin just to stir the pot a little bit no what's X used to doing is used to sort of playing things down he'll tell you why a horse can't win yeah he's got he's got terrible he's got that sort of for disease where he's got a sort of say I'll know you know the tracks too fam or this is all that yeah yeah he can't do that with Cahin because it's it's a foregone conclusion I caught him out there say do you know after the trial I don't know if I talked to you but I talked to a few people that know Zach well and we've got to know him really well and Gidey up he's great with this time but I said get I said does that stop be a singer like mate you always talk it down David Hayes told me in fact he goes you know he tells the owners like this horse has got no chance just so if it gets beat it's not he's folding away you know just a cushion the blow I said you're not like that trial were you're only mucky around that trial like he's okay it wasn't as bad as you said it was that he goes no no if it's a soft track I'd be concerned so for to heavy track actually I I put this to you if it's a heavy track on every stay we any chance absolutely yeah of course we still got to come down he's still got to turn up and I think they're going to have to change sort of some of their training program because he put on a lot of weight when he came down they were going to do that again I honestly believe my heart of hearts he was underdone yeah I reckon he was well short of way dead it's a being the trial probably a lot of people would have got that indication but absolutely on a wet track yep set time and time again I'd be I'd be happy to take him on a wet deck okay so we'll pray for rain will the Australian racing fans will anyway don't go anywhere would have taken quick break we'll come back and have a look at the big performances from call fit on Saturday this is giddy up and the breakdown team clean heart just said in David Gailey with me on this Monday morning I live another day niggled at now to get going and at the 250 put three links up on Empire song then Parme Angel and behind those horses be cash a live another day looking for the three Pete and at the 100 meters had a good buffer and a live another day was an easy watch if you're back to favorite a live another day racing so well Empire so sick of the day one easily there on Saturday first of all Hachi we surprised with the drift yeah was wide I suppose maybe it was the ground but I don't know why just that I have no idea particularly when you were I suppose inside draw you and the inside wasn't great but the thing was all the jockeys were coming well away from the inside anyway he was going to live another day was going to be guaranteed a run through and I don't it was a strange wet track on the weekend because we had intermittent rain yeah the inside like I said obviously wasn't great but yeah it was a very would you make of the track I think you needed to be I think the wind the strong head wind in the straight made it hard to lead all the way yeah no I think it made it hard to come off yeah I mean the vast majority of horses were running first or second yeah you know prominent on that turn and then on the turn there's a couple that made up a bit of ground soft love and King Tut they've got a great turn of foot and the right part of the track but no I mean she he he was very impressive I they've got a stakes race in him for sure so what are they so I live another day can he do a reserve bank gator and head to a Tobin bronze and win that then go on to be I'm not saying you can win a good wood but reserve bank was able to do that could he be competitive in a group one this early on in his career yeah well the fence was there yeah right so you know I wouldn't he's never going to be tempted in a race but she's not going to be there so their group ones and then their group ones right so yeah I think taking the line to reserve bank it's certainly a line through the cash who's just beaten home legacy bound you know he's beaten home modulating all so it's not a bad skill to take that's it wait as well so yeah the drift was interesting I think I think you've you've known the reasons why inside your you know track soft seven at least by then yeah had pundits a little cautious but the way he quickens you know coming to the turn and put two or three links on them in a blink it was an easy watch if you're on as well as action in the ground was great like yeah actually loved it so yeah don't let that put you off he he crews throughout it's great for Tom Dabinic he's he's got good horses in he's stable but this this fella could be the real deal well Tom does a great job yeah there's a brilliant job and and what Tom normally does is take his time with horses doesn't I mean he'll go through those benchmark races he'll build their experience up and he's happy to sort of take that not the low hanging fruit but you know take them through rather than throw them into the I thought Arabian Prince was part of the track, it's gone really well as well. And I can't knock single choice with a 59. They wound up early and he kept running. So, no knock, I think first three all got an A. - What's the level for Gold Coast, Bell, Gator? - I'll start with you here, 'cause she just keeps on winning. - I really like her. She's a lovely mover. You know, she quickens. I'm really cautious, obviously, on times on the day, given what we saw and now it's hard to go. Great stuff, but she was dominant with a 57. Terror star second is a reasonable line to draw. She got some former handsome good men. I hasn't won for a while, but you know, even button up princess, you're just running three group races. So, you don't have to look too deep to be a bit excited, I think. - Yeah, it's exciting, isn't it? And how good is Danny O'Brien's table? - Yeah. - And they're absolutely airborne at the moment. And he's got a few nice fillies or horses in general, but this filly or nearby, what say you think? Just one another one. I mean, she probably, there's nothing really that traveled. Oh, I live another day, was one, but Gold Coast Bell, if you, watching the race, she thought this is all over Red Rover. They're away from home. She just cruised through it and another one taking the right steps. And there was a couple of handy horses in that field. And Soft Love, who was in that slow race leading and was probably quite a good run. I don't know. I think the talking points out of this race were probably more the beat and reggae. Where are we at with some of them? - Well, forever you're sacked. - Yeah. - Yeah. I was listening to Pondelao. We pulled up lane. - Yeah. I was listening to Philip Stokes on correct weight Saturday morning like she had issues with her. Like she had a bad blood after a disappointing first up effort. And they thought she would run a big race there on Saturday. But she's not in that form that saw her defeat. Mike Ladiola. - Definitely. - No. Gator. - Yeah. No, she's in the bad books now. Forever. I gave her a good chance. I'll top peak on Saturday. And she caught the bit of an early craft. But she, after that, you know, as you heard Matthew was called, they all crossed the line together at part of the first couple. And the Quinola are the ones to follow. Soft love's next challenge is to be strong at 12 millimeters with a bit more weight. Motor sports was only second up, you know, and had to come underneath them. So, probably the one to follow out of that race. I think. - I've got a few text messages after the last touch. How can you keep on disrespecting the Kiwi form? And that's a good point. - A couple of Kiwis texting me there on Saturday. - Kiwis loved it. - Yeah, ocean and dream. First up for Moody and Coleman. And there was a couple of horses that were well-backed that had UK form, my king of the sea, who was still pretty good and probably in the wrong part of the track. - It was a big ranking of the game, to be honest. And it was a big run. - Yeah. - But no, look, Moody's has shown it, doesn't he? I mean, I did have to give this horse a good look. And I don't know. I sort of, I didn't kick myself afterwards, 'cause to me, the last race was just too hard. I felt it was a really difficult race. I thought, yeah, there's two imports from Kiwi mother, you've mentioned, that obviously brought in some decent, a decent level and forward in King of the Sea, and probably jung that better. But they were all tipping Zayn Blu and its work. - 100% will born with this, wasn't he on Wednesday? - Yeah, he had first courses in good form, proven on wet tracks. You know, it was all just too hard for me. So I was happy to sort of sit back and have a look. And I did say, gee, this horse has gone out at a big price for giving that it's got stakes form from New Zealand. I'm not sure, what did you think, Gader? - Yeah, I risked the horse, which seemed a mistake, given, you know, set tree rod and betas. But the first half of a year at 1,600, so I was keeping me at the start of the day, first half of a year, he looks ring rusty. I'll leave this one out. (laughs) And it was a terrific win, you know, given the long break and the wide run, I know the fence was off, but still, trap door, first course, liquid horses, King of the Sea, oh, oh, oh, oh, at least the middle to have softer runs. And this horse still beat, I'm sad, I can't soak, you know, I want to. - Hey Gader, you know, we have, we have, we've got his game plan, Hutch on Saturday on Thursday morning, we have the D-Day horse. The horse that, you know, needs to stand up, that hasn't been too bad, but just, we just need-- - Been like you, when you were on the football board. - Correct. - Sort of, you know, come on time to lift. - So what do you, what do you say to Tim Warrie is after the match there on Saturday, Gader? Like, he went really well. - He went really well. - He was an e, but he just, he just, like, he's confidence, he just can't, he deserves to win, doesn't he? The winner had two kilos less, rolled on speed, you know, eight of the ten winners are up there. So, I thought he's run super. And there's a handy rake feeling. - Yeah, probably one of the runs of the day for the points that Gator just made. - Matthew, like Jamie might've been in a bit of form, but he didn't, this wasn't a shining moment, I didn't think he sort of, I'm not sure what the sort of tactics were, pre-raced it, he'd be up there, but it just went horribly for him. I think to do what he did and get up and run second was quite remarkable, to be honest with you. And I'm totally in the side of Gator. I mean, you got that one from 15 or 16 or whatever it is, anything I'll do. - No. - Particularly when you've got a horse that's placed so much. But he genuinely, he genuinely has run well often. And it was probably the run of the race. - He's still winning on your footy side. He puts his head over the foot. - Yeah, he just doesn't want him straight in front of Gator when he has foot steps, you know? - I'm asking for a mate here, a couple of mates. Well, Epi, I was winning another race after watching him there on Saturday. - I'll leave that one for Gator. (laughing) - He was making the case for us. Yes, yes, go ahead. - Epi Mills? - Yeah, look, I think, look, I tend to forgive any horse. First of all, that's a long braille. - Yes. - He sort of often viewed him between runners and even in the trials he'd been up in front for head and head horses around him. So I was worried from the outskirts, you know? I think he's a nice horse and now they've yelled at him. There's no way I'm seconding him off that. - Right. - But I'd also be surprised if he was top picker immediately. - Yeah, he's gonna take a run or two. He's a very talented horse. I mean, I had your show and Trent Bussett and saying that, you know, he's obviously a real talent. They've taken their time, high profile owner or part owner and Jack Jenkins. I think there was a few question marks over Jim Twist. Do you think she'll win another race over 1200 metres after watching her there on Saturday? - Well, I was with her and I was happy to give her the benefit of the doubt because I felt like in the straight race leading in, you know, I don't know if Willie Pike, what first of all had a training like that? - Wasn't Willie's great ride. - What was it? - It was very keen. She probably, I don't know. She didn't seem to be in a good rhythm at any stage. So, and she's run quite well behind a luckless horse that we saw for Susanna Gurgie. That was something Beaton and Sydney, wasn't it? But, so I thought, look, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and at least a core fill. I don't know, you'll be banged there on speed and we'll see how you go. I think post-race, I'm like, it really saw you out. You were probably the most professional on the day. You did everything right and you sort of just got there. So, no, I think 1200's at the end of the spectrum. She's ticked the box, but I wouldn't be backing in a strong race, put it that way. - Do you want to follow any of these babies, Gator? - I think, yeah, Hutch has nailed it. I think I'd be happy to risk Jim Twist, probably in a lot of Tournament races going forward, especially given Oak Lightning probably wins if it does have anything right. He just wanted to lay in, didn't he, and I think it cost him the win. So, I've got a query on the race although the format of the Flemington race as Hutch reference was terrific with not only Sotano Goyle, but Salan went to, the Furnill amount enormous as well. I would imagine so unless they go down the Epsom, but she would get too much weight, Autumn Glow, and in Epsom. So it'd have to be at weight for age. I don't know what race it will be. It can't be champion's day because I doubt Moody would back her up after running in an equal, travelling back to Melbourne and going again the next Saturday. They'll be spending their money. Yes. They'll be enjoying themselves. So maybe the Autumn I would imagine. Unless they meet in a, I don't know, King Charles, whether Moody's would go to a King Charles and then to a goalie, I don't know, it's a lot of money up for grabs. I mean, he got it $10 million. If you've got a horse that in that, you can understand them wanting to target that race. And she'll take something pretty special to beat. She's an alibi, what I thought. Yeah, look at the logical target. I'm going to meet Price with I'm Thunderstruck saying, "You know what he want me to do?" It's 10 million. I can't afford your old. And you know, so I get it, that's the landscape. And it looks, and fairness to the goalie, it's become a fabulous race. It's just the timing of it, you know, impacts other races, obviously. So wait for age right now. 1600 meters. She's alibi and Autumn Glow. You're with-- Well, well, you asked me this the other day, didn't you? And I said, it's very tough call, but I did say I'd be with she's an alibi. There's something about her. The theme with she's an alibi, I'll say this. The way she relaxes in the run and the way and how good she's been late in her races. Yeah. That she is-- I mean, you just don't-- you don't see horses do what she did in the Donnie Doe. I mean, I've-- It was quite remarkable to become from that position that she was in, what transpired. You've got to be special to do that. Yeah, 100%. I mean, I was watching that race a lot. I do want to-- So what-- Well, how's she going to win for now? Yeah. And then it was over in three seconds. Not only that, you mentioned the late strength. To sustain that speed and be that strong at the end of the mile, albeit with no weight, I think she would have won that with 56. Yeah. What did you make of McWoodie and a poor Adelaide Ginnies Tom wants to know? Did you watch that race there? He was impressive. He's just joined the John Simons and she'll Lachsen Camp. He was too good for bootleg, a different gravy was back in fourth. It's good ride. He sort of kept one of the main dangers in the race. Different gravy in that pocket. Yeah. And he got that first run, but we're still strong, late. Yeah. And Aaron Bader, feeder, cash Phillips-toaks, did it again with Aaron Bader. He loves more for Veil, picked himself off the canvas. Isn't he a good horse? He's been so honest for so long, Aaron Bader. You'd love to own him. Best instance for pride in Jenny Ezi, 1800 meters, go to the Holland held cup. And it would be chips in for me, Stephen. I don't know. I think she's going to the paddock. I don't think she's going to Queensland this time around. The narrative that autumn glow doesn't get 2000 meters is strange. She smashed other 2000 meter group one winners in 2025. Aliana lost the Rose Hill Ginnies at 2000. Does that mean she didn't run it? She went on to smash them in the Derby. You thoughts with that question? As I said earlier, I don't know if it's her optimum trip. No. And she's run well. I think that's the first thing we said was she still run a super race. Is it her best instance? I'm not sure. No. I think she traveled in like she's going to win. She'd be better for it over 2000. She said the one run over it now. But is it her absolute best instance? As Gator said, then, get her bring you back in. Ultimately, the winners tracked closer and been stronger.
