Listen to the NFL Report podcast on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome to week one of the Locker Room, fellas. We have officially made it to week one of College Football. Your piss is going to be hot because there is a. FanDuel is doing something incredible for everybody out there. This is global, fellas. FanDuel is the presenting sponsor of this show. They're the number one sportsbook in America. America's number one sportsbook. Before I tell you all of the goodies about FanDuel, make sure Responsible Gaming, Responsible Gaming, Responsible Gaming. You can go to FanDuel.com slash play with a plan or check out the Responsible Gaming section in the app to learn more. Now, here's what is happening. College Football Pick'em. There's going to be a tab in the app. It's going to have the boys we pick games every week. We're going to have. 10 games in there to where you can pick against us. Those bets are going to be free. There's going to be a slate of 10 games. You're going to get 10 free bets against the spread. If you happen to clip one of us, you're going to get a profit boost token. If you are somebody that goes 10 for 10, 9 for 10, if you're part of the top of the leaderboard, you are going to split a share of bonus bets of $500,000. What? Did I land that? Did I land that, Jesse? I can say Jesse's name. We just can't look at him, right? Yes. We just can't see him. We can't have him on camera. May not be here. May not be right. Conspiracy theorists throughout the entire world. They believe the earth is flat, 9-11 inside job. What happened to Jesse? That's global. I am now a conspiracy theorist that CTU does not exist because the way you just handled that, it's impossible. You have to be careful saying that. Okay. We played, so I think it's all good. It's funny. Yeah, it's funny. But now I'm on the cusp of like, is it real? Because the way you just processed the information when the cameras were cut and then brought it out to the public, you're fully operational. And hey, but it doesn't seem- Like you might be better from it. Doesn't seem like you rehearsed it at all either. Yeah. That was first take. We were trying, yeah, yeah. We were going through it. A part of me was a little confused, but then Jesse did an incredible job of articulating what was happening. And I was like, let's just get the fight started. Yeah. Because that's what's happening this weekend. And it shows how much Jesse believes in you because at the end of your conversation, you told Jesse to stay by the mic and Jesse just turned around and walked back to his seat over there. Nothing to do with it. So that's how you know Jesse was like, Wilcoxon has this in the back. Like Jesse does. He can't speak on the show, can he? I don't know that any rules exist. It's just kind of been made up in the comment section. Because I was ready to call him Tommy by keeping him close to the mic because I don't want to disrespect anything going on at the Josh Bate College Football Show. Oh, you were in a tight ship? Very tight ship. And you were the only one that- However, Jesse's a conspiracy. Like nobody even knows if he's real. Jesse is the conspiracy. Sometimes he walks in the room the way he's dressed. I'm like, I don't know if this man is real. Yeah. But here's what I want to know. So this means people have to root for our demise in order to win. Yeah. That's really what this boils down to. Yes. It's a great way to build camaraderie. Everybody out there is thinking, all right, Willie C, he's done for. Right. We're fading him all week. Like I had the TCU bet last week. That ended poorly. Josh was praying for the Hawaii bettors. I did go in on that and they lost it in the last drive. They fumbled and they took it back to the house to cover four. Yeah. But again, week zero, those games don't matter. They don't. Week zero does not matter. And you want to know what's crazy. Tell me. The most rewarding season of your life is not stopping. With just those fan deals, college football, pick them. Profit boosts. If you beat one of us, getting a share and a sum of $500,000. We are also doing giveaways on this show. Every week, the locker room will be selecting three people from the comment section. Three people, correct? And again, stay close to the mic if I butcher any of this, but I am going to the card on this one. You're going to have a chance to win FanDuel bonus bets. Determined by FanDuel, the FanDuel reward board. All you have to do is leave a comment on the latest locker room video and include your ex-username. Make sure you're following at FanDuel and have a FanDuel Sportsbook account so they can reach out to you to win. Again, we're choosing three supporters. We can't say numbers right now. We'll have more details for you next week. I promise you, you are going to want to be involved in this. We can promise it's a lot. It's a good grip. Right. You're going to want to leave comments. We had 300 plus last week from last week's episode. You're going to want to be leaving comments. And again, all you got to do is follow FanDuel, have a FanDuel account, and drop your ex-username in the comment section. And also say something nice. Maybe you get a better chance to win. Who knows? I don't know who's selecting. It will be randomized, but it's going to be a lot of fun. Last week we had, there you go, Josh, Taylor, whoever wants to, because I can't read this one out loud. Ooh, it seems like a little hate state there. Yeah. Dunning-Crew group. Go ahead and read it, Josh. You're already giggling at it. Willie C, these are not my words. These are the words of Drew Bus-something-9176. Willie C is a real-life example of the Dunning-Crewger effect with his bets. I don't know if he's at the peak of Mount Stupid or the Valley of Despair, but I'm here for it. So Drew is salivating right now. Like, oh, go 10 against the spread, free bets against Willie C to get some profit-based tokens. He's just going to watch the show and be like, whatever Will picks, that's what I'm going with. He's going to lose this week. I really like what we've got going on. I don't love the toxic relationship we're putting ourselves in with the audience. I really don't. Luckily, we have Bussin and Pate on campus on Fridays, two to three Eastern time if you're not on ESPN. We have that. So maybe there's an opportunity for the audience to hate us on Wednesdays. And then Fridays, it's just good vibes. We sit back, we pretend like all the nasty things that were said in the comment section. We didn't see them when we all saw every single one of them. Yes, Josh Pate. Alternate theory. Since you're into conspiracies, of course that could happen. Of course, that's the easiest way to go about it. What if we're a little more bitter? And a little more antagonistic than that? And what if we secretly see everything bad that's said about us all week, and then we use the global airwaves of ESPN on Friday to just flat out attack people who have attacked us? I'm just saying, if that were to happen, there's nothing in the FCC against that. We get to produce that Friday show. It's us for an hour. Who knows which direction we could go? They unfortunately gave us the keys to have some creative direction with the show. There is no law that's put in place that says we can or cannot do that. so basically you're saying lane kiffin is also correcting the line these nfl players i'm with all Just take your shot with the water gun, but just know we've got a bazooka on Friday. I love that. Yeah. Are we ready to rock for Friday? Yes. I do have, oh, for Friday? Yeah. Yeah, we're getting close. I think we're getting close. Hey, we're in game week. I see that in your face. Like, we're on, it's Wednesday. We have a padded practice. Right. There's still some hay to put in the barn. There's install being going on right now. But excitement is there. I'm excited for week one. I'm excited for week one of our show on ESPN. I am looking at the coaches that we don't have and being like, what's the game plan this week? And I have 70% of it in my brain. I'm like, okay, I feel comfortable about 70% of our show. The other 30%, I believe, I'll bet on us every single time. Yeah, you're just thinking, is that situation going to come up in the game? Yeah. And how are we going to handle it? I think we'll handle it with grace. Yeah, yeah. And in worst case scenario, we got Josh. We can just sit back and be like, Josh, do something. Say something poetic. If it goes, like, the way I see this game, it's a show. And three blinks happen or two blinks happen. Whatever the pause is, that's when you got to know, I got to get in there and throw a life. The hamster's officially off of the wheel. And if I don't jump in four seconds later, our boy just reverts to, and we'll be right back. Exactly. Yeah, yeah. Just a random commercial break. Jesse, get to commercial. I'll just apologize, guys. It's happening. We got to go to commercial break. We'll be back right after this. We were doing our intro on the bus Monday, and there are things that were being, coming out of our mouths. I looked at Will and all the boys in the back of the bus, and I was like, I can't believe ESPN has allowed us to be live. Yeah, that's not Friday quality. No, no, no, no. This is Monday stuff. That's Monday stuff. But you get all the stuff out, and then you figure out, okay, what did I like from Monday? None of it. Okay, we'll put it out on the show, and we'll just keep it pushing. Should we share the information that we had an all-encompassing Zoom call the other day with an unnamed ESPN executive, and that unnamed ESPN executive was clutching a baseball bat on the Zoom camera, and it wasn't part of any bit. He just literally had that much nervous energy about putting us on air. Should we share that? We shouldn't share that. Okay, never mind. People can tune in. We also shouldn't talk about the fact that one of us on the call said, hey, executive, are you nervous about anything? His words said no. But his face. The eyes were like, he's really concerned about something. I assume he has a lot going on. And I'm just not going to put that on us. He's probably thinking about his production team. Sure. Did this really happen to where production team, it sounds like you gave them all the keys, and they kind of know some of the answers. They don't know all of them. For our comfort level here, what we do at ESPN, I don't know if I'm fully ready for what could take place on Friday. Right. The good news is we'll all find out. Together. Together. We're all going to find out together. There wouldn't be two other guys I'd rather deal with. Same thing they said on the deck of the Titanic, buddy. Yeah. We're going to all find out together. God, I can't wait. We should get into it? We can get into it. I do have a question for Josh Pate. You might be curious about it as well. Sure. But we know Josh Pate and his stance. We're going to be unapologetic for how much we love college football. One of those seeds, one of those priorities in the Josh Pate college football world is the fall wedding season. I have a question for Josh because we're going to tailor for his kids, they have a birthday party, a Pokemon Bash. Pokemon collect them all. Pokemon Bash. Shadow River with the boys. On Saturday, it's in the middle of the afternoon, would that be considered decision-making time for people who love college football if they get invited to said college football or said Pokemon party? I guess it really would only boil down to if the person in question's alma mater that he started at left tackle for that he says he'll die for was playing a big game that day. But surely, Michigan doesn't have a big game next week, right? So surely, you know, they're off or they're playing Western Michigan, like surely, surely they don't have a big one next week. Surely. Now, now, now, now, if I want to just, if I want to give an op, throw an op. Yeah. When did you come to realize we had birthday party? This party was happening on week two of college football and what sparked in your brain? There's multiple things that have been said in the last 45 seconds that I'd love to respond to. Okay. The first thing is, when did you come to know that this party was going on? I'm sure, at some point, my wife's brought it up to me more than a dozen times. Yeah. Of when this party is going to happen. It was last week. This is no fault of Taylor Morgan LeJuan. No fault of hers. But yesterday, and this will tie into the last thing you said. Yesterday, I sit there and I'm like, hey, wait, when is the birthday party? But keep in mind, my kids' birthdays are in July. We had a third baby, pushed it, August came. I know. There's always a reason to celebrate. Always a reason to celebrate. And it's like, we had to get it, and it just happened to end up on week two of college football. I go, Taylin, we got a massive issue. We messed up really bad. She's like, well, what happened? I was like, the kids, their birthday party is week two of college football. She's like, yeah. I was like, Michigan plays Oklahoma. Like, that is, I've said it out loud, that's the defining game of our season, of like, where I can see us going. Like, I have to watch that game. She closes her eyes, takes a deep breath, and puts her hand on my shoulder and goes, that's why I moved the party to 3 p.m. Because I know the game's at 11. Shout out to Taylin. Is that my beautiful? And the whole, the whole party being on a fall, that sucks. On a fall, on a fall Saturday. That's a bad move. And you're kind of cucking my birthday. My birthday's the next week. That was what I was gonna say. Golly. The next week. Yeah. Like, I'm in birthday month mode right now. Birthday month? What are you talking about here? Birthday month is nuts. That's. But, listen. I just didn't get out of that party. And Jared's got a birthday. Yeah, the night. The night. And Brett. And Brett. What is the point of all this? I don't know. I'm just bringing those things up. I'm surprised you're not gonna be in attendance. I am too, but I'll be honest. There's a birthday party. And I legit. And that was one of those moments like a month ago and I was like, hey, when's the party? Oh, Oklahoma plays, which I would love to take the kids to that. But there's the birthday party. And it didn't cross my brain that you're doing a massive disservice to most of the guys who are going to come and show up. Shout out the boys who don't even have kids that are just showing up for the love of the game. You coming? Saturday? Yeah, no, I'm actually gonna hold it down for you up in Michigan. Somebody's gotta actually be in the office. I thought the audience was gonna be nasty. I thought the audience was gonna be nasty on this show. Oh, God. Just when I thought I got out too with the 11 a.m. kickoff and the 3 p.m. And I'm thinking 1-0. He comes in and now it's 3-1. And I blinked. That's tough. He just pick-sixed you with that one. Should we get to the game? There were a couple more because this is actually a good question from Drew Simon. If we miss the Bussin' and Pate live show on Fridays, can we catch it on YouTube later? I'm not the guy to ask for that. Nor am I. Yeah, well, if you guys want to ask Jesse, don't ask us. Do we know? Yeah, Jesse and I are gonna both please assist on that right now. So the answer, Drew. There are rumors. Can we talk about the rumors? I don't know if we can go to the rumors yet. Don't need to talk about the rumors. Okay. Drew, maybe. Maybe, Drew. We'll find out. Can you watch Get Up on YouTube after your time? Clips, like moments. So I want to say there's probably gonna be clips available. Again, great question, Drew. We will try and figure that out for you. And then you got TrickDaddy55. The new set is Beautiful Boys. That might be the last nice comment we get on this show. For real. Even amongst ourselves, it does look good, though. It does look good in here. But that example right there is how you can leave comments. You leave your ex-username along with, having a FanDuel account and following FanDuel. That's how you can participate in the details to come for next week. Starting next week, all the giveaways we're gonna be doing all season long. All right. Okay, I gotta stress, we cannot go two and a half hours a day. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We cannot let that happen. Let's get to the actual show. First things first. Okay. The Ford Leaderboard. Just explain the Ford Leaderboard. Here's how we're doing games this year. This Ford Leaderboard segment is presented by Ford. A hard day's work starts with one thing. Someone willing to do it. And where there's a will, there's a force. The Ford F-Series truck. We have, somebody's calling me, let me go ahead and ignore that. It's units-based. Yep. Confidence level, one to five. You get one, five confidence bet every show, right? One, five confidence bet. And you hit the table. Yep. But everything is units-based. So it's, we're gonna be talking about games. If Clemson LSU, if your confidence level's low, you place one unit on it. If you love a situation in this Clemson LSU game and you wanna pound the table, again, you can pound it one time throughout the show, but you can go up to four units confidence level, one to five. But it's all confidence level. It's all units-based. We'll be tracking it on our, I guess it's gonna be a graphic in front of me, the Ford Leaderboard that's taking place. I want one too. So, to be clear, we are picking the games like we've always picked them. Yes, sir. The only difference is we're attaching a confidence apparatus to it. Yes, sir. You can go anywhere from one unit to four units in confidence, but one unit is once per week. We have the option to bang the table and that's our five-unit confidence bet. However, there is risk there because if you lose any of these bets, you lose the amount of units that you bet. Yes, sir. Come on now. Yes. And it's like any game too. Like, if there is a spread that was minus three and a half and you wanted to go money line, you're placing whatever amount of units on that, but you're obviously taking the minimized risk involved with that. So, your units, all the math will be, on this four liter board. - I love the idea of this, I also don't like love the pocket i'm in because i feel more confident about these games than i ever have in week one i feel more confident than i ever have my entire life i haven't been hurt yet because week zero doesn't count so what if i was on tcu last week you know you are right you having as much confidence as you have which one would you like to start with well we'll start with uh i believe the game we're probably going to clemson at lsu which one is the real death valley everyone is wondering this game will probably decide that lsu currently is favored at 10 and a half points total in that game is 50 and a half we're all sitting here thinking lane kiffin right it seems like a no-brainer it's it feels like a no-brainer you have to you have to tread to tread on saturdays don't tread on saturdays the only thing i will not do is tread on saturdays or dabbo are you going to tread on dabbo i have so much respect for dabbo this is what someone says before you're going to pick against them i have so much respect for dabbo two national championships clemson was a dumpster fire before comes in does his you know fall camp press conferences saying we're a bunch of nobodies we will hopefully we have somebody at the at the end of this whole thing chris fazina like the only sample size we have of him what 300 yards three touchdowns no interceptions kids minutes i got two great wide receivers out there and it's like okay like maybe there could be something that goes down but i sat here last week with lsu pounding the table about being sec champs playing against georgia in that game and i'm not going to falter now i'm in week one with sam levitt yeah who 49 percent of his touchdowns came from pressure with a blitz coming in his face him breaking the pocket the talent he had to deal with at asu now he's got a 50 plus million dollar roster around him trade as green who's been in a gold jacket or a gold jersey non-contact jersey harlem barry in the back five star every wide receiver he'll be throwing to is an upperclassman except for winston walken jr who might be the best one of all of them a defense that absolutely rips blake baker he was kept on so no i will not be picking clemson it's upon the thing i love i love no no no that's the first one just this is no this is the type of stuff that happens slam that hand i am very excited about this people want to talk about confidence what about what are all the distractions that took place distractions are facade dude it's all a lie now what's all about hang on hang on i don't think you can go that far there is a ton of distractions what was more distraction for lsu right now or old miss in the playoffs we would all say old miss in the playoffs they handled distractions just fine they made it to the semi-final game i hate to bring up michigan 2023 penn state ohio state no head coach a lot of distractions taking place everyone said oh they're cheaters or this and that national champions if i could just if i could just push back on those two those were also two teams that had a lot of continuity they played together like they understood who they were they played a lot of we're going into these big moments for the rest of the year this is a i mean yeah lsu is going to be very good this year they have the potential to be studs in the sec but there are a lot of transfers there's a lot of moving pieces a lot of first year moments with this team playing together a lot of studs i'm just saying i feel like distraction wise like that element compared to the two examples you brought up like they're you know they're a little different i love the analogy but i'm like those two teams also played together but there's a sample size for all the things you brought up look at last year 45 transfers last year everyone's like oh how are you gonna get a team to have continuity best team sport in the entire world playing the big 12. yeah playing the big 12. no no that's how just playing the big 12. oh you're saying just because you play in the bay 12. i'm saying it helped it helps for sure this is dabo swinney this is a two-time national champion yeah that's great this is great culture this is a team that had nine draft picks last year and what seven and five what were they seven and five yeah but who's counting hey that's jp hovey gamecock enthusiast like that vein was climbing i'd like to see that vein continue all i'm saying is they they couldn't they couldn't run the ball last year okay so they've emphasized it neither could lsu by the way but you're just magically convinced that they can run the ball uh clemson famously resistant to the portal went and got two starting safeties in a corner they can actually run sub 5040s and now they start back there so maybe they can defend the past a little bit better it's just you're really quick to discount a legend is what i'm saying oh guys don't put me in this i've already i start at the thing by saying i have so much respect for dabbo did i not start with that sounds like you have a respect for dabbo's wikipedia page but you you have respect for what dabbo was but it doesn't sound like you're in love with what dabbo is and frankly still could be i have so much respect for the delusion of dabbo sweeney and i think every great every great athlete every great competitor needs to have a level of delusion where he goes in and the messaging is amazing guys everyone's sleeping on us no one's picking us on the acc we suck last time this happened we won it all we were unranked all the things the oc that was there back then he's back here now we're gonna do all these amazing things tosh boyd the qb coach yeah besides you it's like yeah lsu couldn't win the ball last year so they got eight transfers and the number one transfer guy in the portal in seton and so they're putting a massive emphasis on that the only question mark you really have on their defense is their interior defensive line and they were they were two five-star guys one was the number one defensive lineman in the country as a prospect the other one was the number one athlete oh so you're saying they're starting multiple true freshmen up front that's what i'm saying multiple two is multiple when the crowd is rocking which will be in death valley in the middle what's up they got a safety from boise state who people are saying first round pick time a guy they have athletes all over the field like clemson has great wide receivers but i'm going to take sam levitt over chris fazina in a shootout if that's what it comes down to i'm going to take more talent over a team that doesn't have as much talent just plain and simple like you look at it you put a line in the middle who's better on both sides of the ball lsu wins that lane kiffin uh they want to talk about what happened last year with old miss and how he had all these all these transfer guys and all this money put in the team but when he got to old miss he didn't have that and they were still a top five offense and the sec so it's like as much as lane kiffin is his polarizing figure still a hell of a head coach yes sir has he won a nice championship no yep so last year speaking of the comment section some people thought that you may have folded under pressure when people really pressed you on the point you were making i don't know if you read the comments but some people said that is it was that your burner or something bottom line is that's what the comments said okay so i really thought it was important in fact a lot of us thought it was important for someone on the set to press you really early this year because what i think is i think you made some phenomenal points thank you i agree on most of them but i'm not taking the other side because i don't really feel good about a side at all i kind of think the number's right i kind of think lsu by somewhere between eight and twelve ten and a half kind of splits that i'm looking at the under the under at fifty and a half is what i kind of like here because i could definitely definitely see a world where clemson cannot cannot get any traction offensively and it's like 30 to six weird kind of game i could see a game where i could see clemson winning the game because it's week one so anything could happen but if clemson won the game it would be a lower scoring game so that's in my pocket and then the third one is i could kind of see lsu just sputtering out of the gate a little bit and it's this weird um lsu shooting itself in the foot clemson limiting possessions grinding out some drives they can move the sticks a little bit because they got younger guys up front for lsu defensively and it's it's just it's an lsu win but it's kind of an unconvincing win you feel like they left a lot on the table and it's like 23 to 16. so i think there's a lot of under potential here so i do lean lsu to win the game i don't know that i lean them to cover necessarily i love under 50 and a half that's a good pick can i say where are you at with the units pound the table josh clump we can't do half units right two units so you were trying to do half a half unit i feel it's a solid two and a half but since i can't do that we're gonna we're gonna yield to the under in week one and i will go two units where are you three units on lsu minus ten and a half yes i feel really good about it we're really good about it but can i just say one thing you're in mid-season form i'm making you better no doubt you've made me better on the show there's no doubt about that but for you to come at me and then me defend myself and then you go good job son it was kind of and i feel like that had to be said that that was kind of crazy somehow once again bulletproof paint comes in comes at me i defend myself and you're like good job out there huh love what you're doing the clock goes to zero you're like nice work pat me on the ass and got out sounds like you're saying sounds like you're saying i like it sounds like you're saying we're in mid-season form maybe which leads us to the third pick in this game i think i'm going confidence meter is a one confidence meter one unit and i'm gonna take clemson plus ten and a half why it's a long shot but if it's a boy it's red it's a long shot but if clemson is going to win this game they're gonna have to be able to run the football no they did not do a good job of it last year but i see a world where lsu comes out it's like last week you know i'm not comparing all i'm not comparing uh tcu to lsu but last week in the north carolina tcu game like tcu they're they have more talent they've outmatched they outmatched north carolina but north carolina able to run the football play a clean game traveling across season only having two penalties and tcu staying in there shooting themselves in the foot with 10 plus penalties i could see that sporadic game from lsu for as much as like you know it could it be a shootout could it not towards some of those drives just end early because of the uncharacteristic things that lsu's kind of doing to themselves um a lot of true freshmen in there where I don't feel good with betting on, again, that's where my confidence meters want, but I am going to go Clemson plus 10 and a half because I feel like the line is long. Having underclassmen on your offensive line, a lot of these newer faces on Clemson's line of scrimmage, dude, it is going to be so loud at Death Valley. And just to play into the true freshmen starting on the interior front of LSU, dude, you know how chaotic it is when you are out there playing, like you being on offense, but it's extremely loud to where you're trying to get, whether it's a cadence, you're trying to make a shift, you're trying to kill a play, but defensively, if a Y motion happens, you got to kick the front or you got to change a blitz or you got to get out of a blitz or you're doing a coverage check to a formation. With these younger defensive linemen and the young cats that they have playing on the line of scrimmage for LSU, I could see that being an issue to where if Clemson, again, all the firepower, all the talent, all of that stuff favors LSU. But as a player, as you're going into the foxhole of this game, which I feel like Dabo's probably, I'm just assuming, based on the way he is culture-wise, you're going into this game knowing nobody is fucking picking us to win, but we're going to go one play at a time, one series at a time. Don't get caught up in shootouts. Don't get caught up in trying to play catcher. Don't do any of that. Let's just go one play at a time. And if you can clip these guys from four yards at a time. to where you have third and manageable, you can make this a game going into halftime. Then you're in a fist fight in the third quarter to where who knows what it's going to be in the fourth quarter. Could it flip the other way and LSU runs them? Yeah. But I love to believe in Clemson walking in their backs against the wall with all of the mess going on around LSU, all the distractions, all off-season leading into this week one. We don't even know if they're going to get these NFL players. Like that's going to be decided tomorrow. So I'm going to go Clemson plus half. And my confidence meter is a one. But just trying to paint the picture of how Clemson goes in there and either keeps the game close or even get it done. And there's chaos week one of college football. Man, that's the way you want the game of the week pick to go. You got people on opposite sides, someone bailing and just taking a total. No agreement whatsoever. That's how it should be. It's a great start to the show. I just have a hard time thinking LSU is not going to be what Lane Kiffin's offense has been since he's forever. He's always been successful. And you have the operation distractions like they don't really have that. They've never really had like an undisciplined team and that he has more talent than he's ever had in his entire life. You're right. And Kiffin and like both stats, very experienced. But dude, we're going to be standing there when the ball kicks off and the crowd is going to be deafening. And it's just it's a different element when all the bullets are flying and you're running through the sideline. Maybe you messed something up. Maybe you're younger player and it kind of gets into your psyche. Maybe you're just missing calls. All the all these things are going to get into your psyche. All the all the yelling that takes place and goes on like it's going to be chaos, bro. And it's going to be who handles it the best. Wait a second. Have you been to a game at LSU? Yes. At night? Yes. We were at the LSU Florida game. OK, so, you know, you know what you're in store for? Yeah. OK, I got you. There's a lot of people haven't been down there and they haven't experienced that. And they think sometimes, oh, this this night game at LSU thing nighttime in Death Valley gets overhyped a little bit. No, no, especially this one right here is going to be insane. The expectation. The expectation is going to be so high for Lane. Yeah. To where Klump brought this up earlier this morning. It's like there's a I see the moment of the first quarter. Sam Levitt just threw for a second touchdown, third touchdown, whatever it is, they're up three, three and Lane's got the visor on just hitting them with one of these. We're going to keep it fucking going, boys. Yeah, we're not slowing down here. He loves it, dude. He is he is an agent of chaos and he's all about it. And the anger and the hate fuels him. Hey, it fuels him. Hey. What if that attitude persists, but that Clemson secondary really is upgraded and they've already taken two of them back to the house and it's Dabo looking across the field saying, keep doing it. Keep trying, bud. That would be elite. Yeah. I mean, I would say, yeah, I look like an idiot in the locker room, but this is awesome. Yeah, this is what you want to see. This is cinema taking place. In February of 2024, celebrated illustrator and children's book author, Petra Mathers, and her husband, Michael, mailed letters to dozens of friends and family members to let them know that they had died by suicide. By the time you get this letter, both Petra and I will be dead. Next stop, Wonderland. Petra and Michael were by all accounts healthy, happy, and in love. Why did they do it? And what did it do to the people they left behind? I would have given a million reasons to not leave this world had I known. I keep coming back to, I truly hope that Petra was a thousand percent on board with the plan. Do you think of him as having killed her? Yes, I do. I hold Michael responsible for my mother's death. I'm Leon Nafok. And I'm Alice Gregory. Together, we set out to interview everyone who got one of Petra and Michael's letters, as one married couple trying to understand another. Neutron tastes great and tastes so much better than what else is out there. Neutron is made with real vodka and real juice. That's what makes it delicious. A couple of flavors in their Rolodex, pineapple, watermelon. They have new flavors, lime and strawberry. They are perfect for social occasions. Think beach with friends, an outdoor bar, on the lake at a music festival, watching ball with the boys. It's the perfect time of year to grab a 12 pack of Neutron for the beach or grab a bucket deal in your favorite bar to celebrate summer and celebrate football. Neutron, keep it tasty. Well, we have the two next, Willie. Let's kick it to Wisconsin-Notre Dame playing at Lambeau. Notre Dame favored by 20 and a half points against Wisconsin. The total on this game, the over-under, is 47 and a half. 20 and a half is a lot. 20 and a half is a lot of points. Not enough. Not enough. I agree with that statement, but you've said statements to me before, and I've read it a certain way, and I've been wrong, per our text a couple of weeks ago. Yep. So, are you saying Notre Dame needs more points? I am saying I would lay up to like 26 with Notre Dame. I love, I talked to I hate the spot. I hate the spot for Wisconsin. And as you guys know, because we did our preview episode a couple of weeks ago, I'm not even down on Wisconsin. I don't think Fickle's going to get fired. And if he did, I would take him tomorrow. I think he's a really good coach. I just hate the spot. They're not healthy on the offensive line. They'll probably get some guys back. But I think we're playing the long game there. The smart long game. Like I think Wisconsin is going to get buried in this game. I could not find a path. And trust me, I tried. And also you sometimes think, oh, well, you know, don't you want to pace yourself like this is the kind of game where if you know you got it in the bag, it could be 23 to six final and and Notre Dame. No, there's none of that. Notre Dame has limited opportunities to get big resume moments this year because they have a soft schedule. So they know that they got to put their foot on the throat when they can. Also, this is the first time that you will have seen Notre Dame since some people think they got screwed out of a playoff spot. They are the some people. That's just fact. Not the only people, but they are the some people. I think they're going to run it up. I Wisconsin's going to have a very, very tough time moving the ball. So I'm taking Notre Dame minus 20 and a half. I'm actually putting three units on it. Yeah. A new PR. Yeah. You got a new PR. Yeah. I love everything you said about that. I think Marcus Freeman understands like the politics of what takes place when it comes to the college football playoffs. And he like towards the end of the year last year, they started to figure it out where they would run up on. It and all the schools. And so you look at Wisconsin and I'm sure in 2012 or 2014, whenever this game was scheduled, all of us college fans were like salivating, like, oh, this is going to be an awesome matchup. Get to it. It's like Luke Fickle's fighting for his job. One roster is much better than the other. There's very little holes, if any, on Notre Dame. And they understand that if Wisconsin can go in the Big Ten and win four or five games, then they look a whole lot better when they donkey stomp them. So when it gets to is the line, are they winning by 21? I think they're winning by 18. They run it up. They look at C.J. Carr. They give him the nod and he throws a deep bomb in the fourth. Fickle's pissed. Wisconsin fans are pissed. All of Green Bay is pissed because that's where they're playing. But Marcus just knows, like, it's not you. It's just we need the scalp to show off when we go into the college football playoffs. And we've been like we've sat with Coach Freeman. We were around there this offseason. Like we've all sat and had conversations with Coach Freeman. Like he's he's got it like culture, like these boys are going to be focused going here. Like, again, to me, this is the best defense in college again. Tay Johnson, Shula, Jalen Sneed, Kingston, Bubba Carr on the defensive line. Like they have first round. They have blue chippers everywhere, man. And their O-line is going to be nasty. Their one question mark, which I'm, you know, excited to watch this weekend, is who's going to show up in the wide receiver room and their skill positions, who's going to be the next running back because their offensive line is great. C.J. Carr is going to be a stud this year. I like it. My confidence level is more at a two for them to cover just because the spread, the number is 20 and a half. But I love Notre Dame. I think Notre Dame is going to have a hell of a year. I'll stick with you on three. I think you brought up a lot of good things. Another one to mention is that we've we've played bump out, knockout with C.J. Carr. We've done something like basketball with something so simple as like, hey, we're going to have a fun little game. Like we're all kind of getting to know each other. The kid's eyes, the minute Ryan Nolan had him on the ropes for a second. It's like this. He only cares about winning. It doesn't matter if it's the smallest game in the world or the national championship. This kid is special. And just going off, there's just a small sample of playing knockout. There's a lot of guys that show up that showed up for that. Like the team continuity that it feels like Notre Dame does have is whether fact or not of them getting squeezed like they went through something together to where this locker room is very much intact. A lot of returning starters like they're out to take everything this season. It's going to start, in my opinion, with Wisconsin out in Lambeau Field. So I'm too confident. You guys are both three. Notre Dame to cover. There you go. That's going to be one on the college football pick them. Or if you feel like Wisconsin is going to cover, you can be like you can be salivating right now. Salivating. Triple-A stat. OG triple-A stat just took place. Where do you want to move it to now? I think we should go to Louisville-Ole Miss. Louisville minus six. Or sorry, Ole Miss is favored at minus six and a half. Total points in the game is 55 and a half. You know I love our city. Absolutely. I love Nashville. Stupidest thing in the world. This game's in Nashville. I agree. Got a great home campus stadium up the road in Louisville. Got a great one. Iconic venue down the road in Oxford. And we're playing this thing in the last vestiges of Nissan Stadium before it's rubble. It's a disgrace. Yeah. Should never have taken place. Game should be good though. Game should be good. I need somebody. Do you think the game should be good? No. Yeah. I think this is this the line on this game is way too, way too close. I like, yeah, I like Ole Miss a lot. Like where Louisville is what they do well, especially based off last year, like Lincoln kind of holds, like we can get into that. They have a, they have a very good athlete and quarterback. But what they did well last year, they run the ball well. They're front seven as far as stopping the run. I just, I look at both of these teams. I just think they're out. They're just outmatched against Ole Miss. Like let's talk about you guys want to get into some meat, some beef. I love meat. Talk to me about that. I'm going to not even going to say names. Like look at these, look at the statistics, the way and the height of the D lineman for Ole Miss. Six, three, three 15, six, five, three 40, six, five, three 55, six, two, three 15. When we were talking about the interior of the D of the D line for LSU, like these guys are tipping the scale around 280. We have beef up front, not to mention Perkins coming back. Uh, is it for Ellie, for our, for Arlie, Luke, for Ellie, for Ellie, knock your, knock your stuff stiff. I don't want to say anything to get his age verified. Yeah. Kitchell will knock your stuff stiff. Nice. Um, I do not like best quarterback running back duo in the country. A lot of firepower offensively. Um, I just, I like Ole miss. I, I don't see now here is how Louisville can just the X factor is Lincoln kindholds, but not for passing or anything else. Jeff Braum, he works with quarterbacks. This dude's a guru nine plus wins every year. Like this is a phenomenal head coach. Um, if Lincoln can run the football, like that's kind of the X factor. If you keep this defense, this front seven on their toes, it's the quarterback play that comes involved in the run game. Cause we saw with Virginia against NC state last week, you have some wrinkles in there that you haven't necessarily seen that could keep Ole miss at bay. But if not, like this is, this could be a potential Josh Pate splattering tweet. Hmm. Uh, I have not found many people who have made a career, a successful career off picking against Jeff Braum in big games. He was good at punching up at Purdue. He's three and two against the top 12 teams straight up at Louisville. So he's good to pull these upsets. They'll lose a game. They have no business losing, but like they, they beat Miami last year. So they've been in these spots where we could sit there and look at each other and say, man, how's Louisville gonna win this game? So Jeff Braum's been a big X factor. Don't like that. They have a defensive coordinator calling this first game against Trinidad Chambliss. Don't love that. But I do think. You were painting the path to, well, how would Louisville do this? I think the way they would do it is he's finally got a guy at quarterback who he could utilize in the ground game. And he hadn't had that last few years. They have 174 carries from minus 12 at the QB spot last three years, sack yardage included, but still he hadn't been able to incorporate that. I think in his perfect world, he would love to incorporate that. Isaac Brown's one of the best tailbacks there. So you actually have two really good QB running back tandems here. One of them is properly rated at Ole miss. This one may be underrated for all we know, but I love the interior of the Ole miss offensive line. Cause they returned guys there. And I think they match up really well when you factor in Trinidad Chambliss, what he can do on the ground. Kiwan Lacey there. It just feels like there's so many ways for Ole miss to win this. And maybe if you're siding with Louisville, maybe you're thinking. Louisville's got a chance to be sneaky here. Like Louisville. Maybe people aren't taking them seriously. People may not be. I think Ole miss is like, I don't think this is sneaking up on Ole miss at all. I think they've got the proper respect for the opponent. Not to mention, like, I think they're probably smoke. Almost anyone. Who was put across from them in week one this year, just because they're finally ready to play a game instead of talking about all the stuff they've had to talk about. So I agree with you. How many units did you put on this? I'm going four spot. You're going to four spot. Wow. Wow. New record high of the locker room. Four spot. You guys, that is a personal record. That is a person. That's a record for all of us technically right now. Yep. I'm going to go with a three on Ole miss. I'm going to tie a personal record and I'm going to go three on Ole miss lay in the six and a half. Congratulations. Yeah. I, I agree with you guys on, on the Ole miss. I, I think Jeff Braum is like quietly making an ACC contender. He's never lost. Uh, he's always won nine plus. They're going to, yeah, they're going to be every single year. And he's, this is like kind of his cadence. Like he gets a veteran quarterback, brings them in. But what you look at, you brought up the defensive line, like the front seven is the strength of Ole miss' defense and Louisville's path to victory would be on the ground. But when your front seven stacks up much better than, you know, Louisville's offensive line and running game, I just don't see them getting into a shootout. The, the German quarterback Lincoln, like he's thrown 34 passes in his entire career. So we, we don't know what he is from, from a passing standpoint, what he can get done. Trinidad Lacey, they have the, what the two, the two Syracuse transfers and the Auburn transfer. Like they are one of the few teams that have a direct, why a direct reason why they're, you know, so passionate about this season. When you have a lot of guys, you're trying to get guys to buy into the culture you want to bring, but all the stuff with the playoffs last year, being as close as they were without, without what, with their head coach leaving. And the OC is bouncing back and forth. All that does play a factor going into week one of how high they are ranked in the AP top 25 yet. No, one's really talking about them. Us included when it into like who's going to win the SEC championship. And that's all more chips for them to have on their shoulder. I'm going to stick with three. But I like Ole Miss a lot in this game. I think you'll be able to tell what the game's going to be like pretty early because in those first couple, whether it's the first 15 or scripted first couple series, like the run game wrinkle that Brom will have in for Lincoln, whether it's pullers, quarterback, design QB runs, RPOs, all the option game, if that has Ole Miss on their heels to where adjustments, we've got to figure out these adjustments and obviously we'll find out. But that's where you can see if Louisville's going to have a shot. If they kind of catch them off guard and the run game's kind of gashing them early because of all the misdirection in the QB run game that Lincoln will hopefully be able to provide. Because when you look at last week the way NC State played against Virginia, you can look at the rest of Louisville's schedule and they go on still to win 10-plus games. They're going to be good. Yeah, Louisville's got to go just straight military academy when it comes to their run game. Triple option and just all over the place. Just enough to keep them on their toes, man. To where you're a little flat-footed at the second level. The DN might be chasing something that he shouldn't be chasing. Whatever it is, you'll be able to tell what kind of team, how Louisville can kind of punch them in the mouth in those first two series. What I want to know is, so you know if an Ole Miss play breaks down. It's never over until Trinidad Chambliss is on the ground. Because you know what he could do based off broken plays. I guess there's a world where maybe we're watching that game Sunday night and it's middle of the third quarter. And maybe Lincoln Keenholz is just flat-out a better athlete than we understood him to be. And maybe he's done some of that. And you're saying, oh, that's how Louisville's in this game. Oh, that's how they have a three-point lead. Because you literally can't know. All you know, all his resume is, is I almost beat out Julian Sayen for the Ohio State quarterback job, allegedly. That's his resume. That's a good resume, though, if you don't really have a lot of experience. Yeah, it doesn't mean it's a weakness. It just means you're a huge question. Yeah, which might actually be a strength. True. I am talking to a felon right now who has face tattoos, and I cannot decide if I like him or not. Is that weird? You make a pick. Or you grab a small school rookie off waivers and you start him right before he goes off in primetime. We've got data-driven analysis, historical trends, and the strategies that you can use to make a good game. that separate winners from the rest. I'm educated. I'm Emmanuel Jochi. I'm Kai Wright. Was that scary to walk away from such a stable career after just two years? No. I was more afraid of being unhappy than I was, because I was broke in a dead-end job that I didn't enjoy. We need a meeting place of our own, and if I can contribute to that, I'd like to maintain that and leave this house for that purpose. Listen to She Pivots on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. We interrupt this episode to bring you Jack Daniels. You've heard of Jack Daniels, but did you know they have multiple flavors? Of Tennessee whiskey? Jack honey. Jack by name, honey by nature. Bold like Jack. Smooth like honey. Authentically Jack and naturally smooth. A little bit of honey and a whole lot of Jack. Jack apple. Pick boldly. Real crisp apples. Real Jack Daniels. Jack to the core. Jack blackberry. The only blackberry bursting with Jack. Jack Daniels. Shout out. All right. Baylor versus Auburn. This one's in Atlanta. Of course it is. Yeah, Auburn's favored. Minus seven and a half total points in that game is 59 and a half points. Is Sherm in the room? Yeah, he's here. Put some earmuffs over Sherm. Put them down nice. What do we think, boys? Oh, no. Love Auburn. Love Auburn. Love Auburn. I'm sorry, Sherm. Hey, you're my guy. Go, sport the net. I mean, Baylor, DJ Lagway, five-star athlete. Dave Aranda. Dave Aranda? Dave Aranda's in the game, coach. Look, I got you. Bullets coming at me right now. Love Auburn right here. Coach Golish, getting to Auburn. I feel like it reminds me a lot of, again, a little Nebraska tie. But when Bo Pelini comes into the program after Callahan was kind of lighting it on fire back in 07, Pelini comes in, and I remember when I was getting recruited and Eckler coaching staff would be talking to me when I was there. It'd be like, people don't get that we landed on a gold mine as far as talent that is in this building. You just have to know that. You just have to unlock it. You got to put the right culture in place. You got to have the right people in the building. And I feel like that is something that's taking place right now at Auburn because I feel like Golish is a stud. Top 10 offense in the country. Number one, a couple years ago when he was with Tennessee, back-to-back offenses, top 10. Ended up being, what, top three with USF last year in total offense. And as far as even, let me stop before I go into tempo and everything else. But Golish coming in, retaining the D coordinator, DJ Durkin, and having a, a defense that was top five and stopping the run, a top 20 total defense. Having that and some of the continuity that they have, especially the second level with this Xavier Cat at linebacker, who is a stud, all American. I like where the defense is going to be at because again, you kept a piece that Auburn didn't struggle with. You tie that to Golish and the offensive play calling and everything else. A question that I do have because there are a lot of new faces across the line of scrimmage offensively at Auburn. But you're able to minimize that risk with the style that Golish attacks you with. As far as tempo goes, they're number one or two every year in tempo. As far as running tempo, and I believe 48, 49% of the time, that's the, that beats out the next best by like 6%. But knowing all of that tempo is there and they spread it out wide, think high pole system at Tennessee, 'cause that was one of the disciples with Golish, coaching next to him. Having all of that with Byron Brown, an athlete at quarterback, who's already been in the system, who can win through the air and can win on his own. legs. And again, I think there's going to be talent that we just don't know about yet that has been kind of stacked in the basement, kept in the basement at Auburn that I think Golish is going to unlock because you watch Golish all off season, whether it's OTAs, not a spring ball and training camp, any pressure he comes out with, he challenges his team. He doesn't pat him on the ass. He's like, no, you guys have been drinking the Kool-Aid far too long here in this NIL era, everything else where he's pissed about how scrimmages went. He's pissed about how spring ball went. He says, we're nowhere close to where we need to be to where he's publicly always calling out and challenging his team. Stayed in dorm rooms for a couple of weeks. I don't know how much stock you want to put into that, but going no distractions, we're going to build this thing together. I'm high. I'm like higher on Auburn, not to like win the SEC title. I just feel really good about the culture of Golish bringing that into Auburn. And that's why I love them a lot in this game. Cause I think the line is, is low clearly with my confidence meter at five. I know, I feel a whole lot better if it was at six and a half. Do you disagree with anything that Wilcompton just said? I'd like you to go first. You'd like me to go first? I agree with everything you said when it comes to Auburn. I think the biggest thing that he did was retain the DC. They're held, I think every SEC team under a hundred yards rushing throughout the year. They're anemic on offense. So roster retention was massive for Golish. He, the, the question mark does remain about the offensive line bringing a bunch of guys from a smaller program and seeing if they can be successful. And then I look at Baylor. And Dave Aranda, he said losing seasons, the last three, three, the last four years, he's a defensive minded coach, but his defense gave up 32.6 points per game last year. Their offense was top four in passing, but they gave up the most turnovers in college football. They were like, I think minus 13 or 14 in the turnover margin. And their answer for that question is bringing in DJ Lagway, who I am a massive fan of. I love DJ Lagway. I love his potential. I love his athletic ability. I love that. He came from Florida. He's been with us for a long time. He's been with from Florida he did the big 12 media days and he goes hey I could have been a better leader I could have handled myself better at Florida I missed out on a big opportunity I love everything about that but then I just look at the numbers the five interceptions against Florida last year was LSU yeah he was at Florida he played it was the worst thing I've ever seen in my life won that damn game yeah and so five interceptions there 14 total throughout the year and you watch the film of Lagway and it's like when the pocket's clean like he'll get the ball out and he'll put it in a good spot he can throw he can throw the ball truly anywhere in the field he has a he's a very special talent but once the rushers can kind of get up on you a little bit whether it's from the interior or around the edge his feet get happy he feels it quite a bit and that's where he gets really inconsistent with simple throws like throwing out to the perimeter quick slants stuff like that I can just see Auburn getting up quickly and taking advantage of dicey throws unless DJ just just I'm not five I don't think I'm going five this whole entire week because I see myself being so confident on my pace it's like this is when they get you like Taylor this is when they're in the closet right now Michael Myers is right there so I'll go four on this uh I like Auburn a lot I'm excited about it I think I think Aranda's staying uh staring down the barrel of the agap right now and it's not looking great oh he's in the he is we're just gonna see if he survives the right he's got Derek Henry coming downhill at him right now and he's got a choice to make does he move out of the way and make a business decision or does he tuck his teeth yeah no he's me and the sign in there when I got ran over by Rybkowski yeah uh with the Green Bay Packers to where he's ran me over is he gonna fall and I get the tackle and I survived the agap or is he gonna keep going and I just I lost all control he lost all control hopefully a safety can clean me up later so I'm I'm big on Auburn in this game wow so it sounds like you love Alex Golish love Alex Golish you're a pretty big Alex Golish guy to an extent oh so you still got to see some things yeah of course yeah okay I'm a huge Alex Golish guy I think you got to be careful loving a hire versus taking everything you love about the hire and baking it into your week one of year one prediction because that's what I've been careful of here I don't want to be careful nor should I'm not treading on Saturday Josh I'm not treading on Saturday is Josh taking away from our Saturday I think he's trying to tell us to tread lightly oh I'm telling you I'm going to tread lightly or am I going to tread lightly so you are right uh I forget it's been a long time those were extended predictions I forget which one of you talked about Tempo yeah you talked about yeah so Auburn 119th in explosive plays last year USF seventh in explosive plays last year you were right I remember this is coming back to me Baylor horrific 130th in turnovers last year DJ lagway horrific 14 interceptions last year but the way college football works the double negative equals a positive all the time so I'm not necessarily going to say that this is going to make sense necessarily I just remember and stop me if you've ever heard this before like how many times have we been there where we bake in a bunch of expectations with a guy you know maybe there's someone out there who predicted DJ lagway to be the number one quarterback in the SEC and that person got burned and he should be scornful and he should be scorned but he's matured oh and he is a bigger man than he used to be wow and he's looking at GJ lagway and saying you know maybe I wasn't wrong maybe I was just early the young man has an opportunity here yes he's back home I've got an opportunity here because I am the hypothetical person you are I haven't burned that graphic it still exists it's wadded up it's in a drawer somewhere but I still remember an era where I thought DJ lagway could be a Heisman contender I thought he could take Florida to Atlanta last year I thought he was the best in the league and now the league he's in is Baylor but he's out of the straight jacket that he claims he was in and he is playing for a head coach who only still has his job because he got his own professional stay of execution because his athletic director got in trouble and got fired before he had a chance to fire him Baylor shouldn't be none about nothing about this should be and yet here they are going to go into Atlanta no one on this set at least is given a much of a choice and much of a chance to win and I'm thinking to myself shouldn't that line be 14 and a half but it's only seven and a half and there's a lot of newness specifically on the offensive line for Auburn I still got some questions about that and I've listened to Coach Aranda some people will call him Dave but I would call him Coach Aranda I have respect for the guy who was the secret sauce not Joe Burrow behind the 2019 LSU National Championship I'm playing around a little bit when I say that so I don't want that clipped but we'll do you like ESPN yesterday buddy you got him to delete if they didn't delete that we're gonna have problems yeah you said no we're not doing don't get sidetracked don't get sidetracked okay so Coach Aranda has said all of fall camp there's been a strength of his team and it's been his defensive line and I don't know that he's ever lied in his life so I'm going to take him at his word and I am going to take this game in its historical context where stuff happens all the time that makes no sense and no it wouldn't make sense at all if DJ lagway balled out of his mind Saturday but he could it wouldn't make any sense if Baylor's defensive line was magically magically resurrected but it could be and I like Alex Golish I like Auburn a lot but I love Sherman I love him that's beautiful I love him and I love Baylor plus seven and a half I'm confident obviously I think Baylor's gonna cover so I'm very confident in this if DJ lagway screws this up for me um if Dave Aranda screws this up for me it's on you frankly if Sherm screws this up for me could get frosty so either I could win Saturday or you guys could lose one of two things could happen you did a great job like that is nice again I know you love theories that's just the Josh Pate Theory that you just did there notice how I deferred yeah you did enough and it's like yeah it could happen yeah and everybody's kind of like yeah they could win this game DJ liveway could be the best this d-line could be the best coach Aranda says they're the best they're the strength of the team name one lie Dave Aranda's ever told name one he can't name one he was the secret sauce of LSU that's a lie I told I'm sure he said that to a family member I'm sure he said that to a family member I'm sure a family member said that to him and he didn't disagree yeah that's what it was yeah I was at that party all right so this is a big game this is a big game five five five five five bump me down to three where'd you go I went four but I'm seeing a strategic move here that's just like we're smart yeah yeah crafty crafty gotta be it's like I see this and it's like why don't I just bow out yeah you just want to you just want to officiate this one yeah yeah yeah I love Auburn I love Auburn though like he he does what Josh paid always he just painted a beautiful Josh Pate Theory Josh Pate Theory a beautiful picture DJ lagway is gonna miss I see I I think DJ lagway could be a good play I just dude Auburn again even with the the the gold that we haven't seen come out of the ground like they've been top 10 in recruiting outside of just this past recruiting class they've been top 10 every year or top 20 every year they were top 10 in the transfer board class the last two years like there's something there that just hasn't popped up yet - You went five. - I'm five. I'm five love goals love how he challenges in the media and there's a dynamic that's going on that I'm just I'm into and Sherman even put me on too I was like because I was talking to him about some Paulina stuff I know Sherman and I were talking a couple weeks ago and he's like you have a big opportunity to put Baylor on your back this year with this ESPN show and I was like yeah dude don't know and I started looking at it and I was like how could I wave this flag for Sherman the more I looked at it the more I was like can you imagine I don't want to can you imagine those two head coaches watching this show yeah because I got Dave Aranda watching someone call him the secret sauce between the 2019 LSU national championship and now I've got me telling him he's never told a lie in his life meanwhile I've got Alex Golish watching you compare him to Bo Pelini first time it's happened in his life yeah total fever dream no I was Golish there's one guy that I think of it's Bo Pelini Bo Pelini um should we do the gravely game of the week gravely game of the week probably the most competitive game in week one in my opinion UCLA at Cal West Coast game Bob Chesney Josh Josh Tosh LaPoi did I say that right eventually yeah that was not nice uh UCLA's favorite one and a half total points in the game is 54 and a half all I've heard for the last two weeks for actually a month is Will Compton just saying Cal very sneaky that's my sneaky team not on the ACC not on totality but like I like them being sneaky this year yeah they sneaking on UCLA I haven't fully pulled the trigger on the over six and a half win total that Cal has but um as we get to Saturday I think it's going to be in there you're going to do it I think I'm going to do it okay I think I'm going to do it not and again just a hedge I'm not saying they're going to be competing uh for the for an ACC title if they do I'm going to be hating myself for that you've been notoriously under the whole preseason so for you to be taking an over on anyone yeah you must see something yeah and I know people are like oh why are we covering Cal UCLA they're essentially flyover programs in in college football essentially they are wow but it's a wild shot to not to not be coastal teams Aaron Rodgers well they're sitting out there on the coast they've never been called flyover in their life they can see flyover programs you know like the flyover you guys get it I understand what you're trying to say go ahead Cal sleeper team programs you don't think about I was tweeting with Liam Blutman the other day it's like there's still people out there they're like oh they're not in the Pac-12 anymore this team's in the Big Ten this team's in the ACC I did not know that but this game is exciting Bob Chesney come from JMU another JMU staff taking over a basketball school we've heard that one before uh we've seen that one take place with coach Cignetti not saying Bob Chesney's going to be that but him establishing culture and operation you've seen him be able to operate and win they've been number one in the Sun Belt in all defensive categories and you might be saying the Sun Belt who cares it just tells me that this is this that this is good coaching no matter where it comes from I think he's going to implement that at UCLA I think it's going to take a little bit of time but both of these staffs Lapoi coming from Oregon as a D coordinator taking over his alma mater like these two guys are juiced up about the game I think it's going to take a little bit of time about where they're at right now in college football and they're trying to establish something that the program has uh never that the programs have never seen the reason I like Cal in this game is JKS phenomenal live arm like this is a stud of a quarterback in all of college football um defensively I'm just more there's going to be a lot of new faces on the Cal on the Cal California defense very young at the linebacker spot I just trust it's like I'm just this is where my bias of a little bit being out there in Oregon being fired up about his intensity his process his operation I'm just assuming that they're going to be fine they're going to be fine defensively but offensively you got 2300 plus snaps of experience returning to an offensive line who wasn't good at running the football but again having all that experience come back they went out in the transfer portal they were top 15 in the portal they got some cats this uh Ian strong and a Rutgers who's a stud 6-4 they got is it um Chase Hendricks from Ohio who had a thousand yard season last year Cooper who is part of the top 200 who was a transfer from Oregon that came down to put some weapons around JKS I like that dynamic both of these teams have a dynamic quarterback and a good staff I like both staffs I'm just I'm bullish on Cal I'm bullish on Cal I'm excited to watch this game the spread's only one and a half I love Cal Moneyline here I'm gonna go I'm gonna go three units on Cal Moneyline big time three units on Cal Moneyline okay Josh I don't have much of a breakdown on the game because I don't think there's a way you can know a whole lot about either team I think maybe if if I were to go back to the Auburn Baylor prediction if I'm willing to still believe in DJ lagway am I not still willing to believe in Nico amaliaba the answer is sorta so I don't have a whole lot of confidence but I have supreme faith hope and trust in Bob Chesney not that I don't entice but I really really believe in the direction UCLA could go so who knows I mean a snowball has to start or a huge snowball has to start with like that little kick and I think maybe this is just a little nudge the little kick moment only one unit for me is it one and a half I'll lay the one and a half with UCLA gonna be fun to watch I agree with you on that it's like Chesney we've seen it happen like yeah he's been he coming from JMU Tosh we haven't seen it yet Tosh we haven't seen a great recruiter everywhere he's been like he's been brought to a lot of places to be a great recruiter but Chesney yeah he was successful at D3 D2 clearly JMU and so I just have to think that trend is going to continue I think both rosters are built very like similarly from a talent standpoint like if you put one against the other kind of equal out in a lot of ways and then it just comes down to the two quarterbacks and the quarterback I lean on is the more mobile quarterback was Nico like Cal quarterback he's got a live arm he's incredible lefty can rip it anywhere but he was also sacked 30 times last year in the offensive line they didn't put a whole lot to make me think okay that's going to be a big dramatic change he's not like a mobile running quarterback he wants to sit in the pocket he wants to get into his drop step up and deliver a strike Nico when things break down especially how week one can happen or gets a little more sloppy he's got his legs that can help him get out of tough situations so I really like UCLA I like UCLA minus one and a half I'm gonna do uh I'll do three units wow kind of consistent with the three this week I kind of like my threes yeah I want to go fives everywhere dude I kind of feel great about all the two of them but I threw my confidence in the middle there level head yeah and also too it's a Jordan Summerville who came from the Bucks as their OC offensive play caller for Cal he's been with the Bucks the last three seasons with Baker Mayfield and uh even before that a lot of his mentoring a lot of like coaches that he's worked with has been uh Dillingham there's one more I'm drawing a blank on right now I think I have them on my notes hang on look dealing him in Liam Cohen being like they have a young-minded staff over there with all that intensity and passion I just you know pro style offense um I like that pairing too with Somerville and jks I don't know if this is like I have an answer to this but it feels to me like offensive coaches like offensive coaching trees the guys that come from a Sean McVay like they always seem to be very successful in the opposite of all I don't know if I feel that and I I don't know if this is true or not from a defensive side like Tosh coming from Oregon he was the DC Oregon's defense was good last year but Dan I think is the office of my head coach is he calling the place is he instilling the culture there it just feels like I feel like offense you see more like carry over from an OC becoming a head coach versus a DC becoming head coach when the coaches that came from was the you know a defensive-minded head coach does that make sense Bo Pelini was a defensive coordinator it is true the Alex Polish of the 20 teens yeah number one scoring defense the number one pass defense in the country but that was mostly the players on the field I heard most of the middle linebacker yeah that was the talent who knows man just you know defensive coordinator for those of you on uh watching the locker room the over under on Will Compton bringing up Nebraska was I think five and a half five and a half yeah it's only been twice that's correct so the under is currently going great right now it's going great right now I am talking to a felon right now with face tattoos and I cannot decide if I like him or not that was a caller from my podcast therapy Gecko know these people just played saturday and now they're playing on the road on a friday right you realize how stupid this is you realize we shouldn't be betting this i can could not disagree more oh they've already gotten one week out of the way they got they got destroyed but the second half even when jordan was still in the game they started to get more comfortable they started to look a little bit better you saw that i see that i see that the poise gonna take place like that roaring fan base at the coliseum finally quieted down a little bit show off their fan base over there it is got them all here brought them in and i like i like west coast teams going to east i there's like a stat on that like 67 percent of underdogs traveling west to east cover especially on short rest yeah short rest is great i think they should be laying points i don't think they should be an underdog i think we're actually getting value here because of the travel dynamics but it's not week 10. it's week two they've been getting ready for this yes we're fine they're fine as far as i'm concerned the first half of this game was the second half of last week san jose state wins this thing outright i love that i love it do we have parlays i got a nice juicy one i got one seven thirteen you got one i got one oh i got a parlay willie parlay cooked i'm gonna go oklahoma state minus 13 and a half okay and that is that's a lot of newness there but it's not secretly this is one of the most experienced rosters in the country oklahoma state laying 13 and a half at tulsa i'm going to pair that up with liberty plus six and a half i don't have as much to say about that one the model just likes it uh those paired up returns plus 288. oh you got that you're going model on this yes very much so that's the football all year you're responsible 288 not me all right i see will's right here so i'll go next i got south dakota state plus 13 and a half versus northwestern i don't have a lot to say about this our uh our computer cody told me this is a good one i like san jose san jose state money line and i like it it's not on here cody it's not here but it is george uh who's georgia playing tennessee state maybe they're playing tennessee state and it's like 45 and a half points kirby smart week one when he's favored by more than 40 points he's oh for uncovering the spread and i love that for that so you're on tennessee state plus 47 and a half orders right here this wasn't the georgia part tennessee state plus 47 and a half this wasn't the georgia plus 713 i'll take that auburn minus five and
