so that one is the most he has the most broken tackles in all of college football and he's playing against the team this year this year has the most missed tackles what i'm hearing is i was basically right what you're hearing is you were wrong but there's stats and i i'm starting to feel like stats lie all the time and the kids and coaches screw up all the time that's fair it's going to happen again this year is it looks that way do we want to get into the game should we start talking a little bit of ball let's talk it's loaded the first one i'm looking at here is texas at tennessee this is one i think we hold this one don't start with that one let's go to oklahoma georgia georgia's favored by 13.5 points the total in that game is 48 and a half where are we sitting boys how are we feeling pass so last night we were breaking this game down on my show and i had jessie click on the more wagers part here because i wanted to know what oklahoma's team total was and last night i believe it was at 14 and a half and i'm asking myself self how does oklahoma score 16 points because that's essentially what we're saying they're going to get to here if they hit the over and this is kind of like when oklahoma played michigan a couple of weeks ago the first half total is still 14 and a half the first half total was over under 21 and a half which i thought was insane so like my favorite bet on the game was the first half under i think my favorite bet on this game is probably oklahoma team total under 14 and a half and just like take all the nonsense out of it but that's not how we roll on the show so but you kind of just got your bed out there for people well i did are you going to bet the bet you just said that we're not going to roll that way on the show one i already bet it okay so it's already back as soon as i got off the show last night i bet it yeah that was had to get done right yeah i just have no confidence there are two teams going on the road this week in the sec one of them we'll get to later one of them we're on right now that it doesn't really take a whole lot of analysis i don't really know how you dive deep in the x's and those right now oklahoma's bad uh there are several instances of returning quarterbacks in the sec that seem like they've regressed they didn't even stay the same nope nope nope i didn't mention anybody by now hurt so bad i didn't mention anybody you didn't i may have given an accurate scouting report which led you to believe i was talking about someone yeah but i didn't mention anyone by now except for john matier well look i was all in on john matier so you were you you you loved him and and he's screwed up so far this year so far and so because of him i look bad which is not fair to me no but i got to wear it so i'm going to take georgia minus 13 and a half i'm going to take two units on that and i think georgia could probably handle that by scoring 24 just to be safe get 24 on so you are fully off john matier yeah our buckle you're done with it i don't even know if it's been our buckle maybe it is i i i lean that it's when i'm watching their film i'm starting to lean a little bit more our buckle than i am matier now material like accuracy issues they're very much there but even against new mexico last week i clipped through dude every third down twice and they just line up and run a play yeah there's no motion there's not anything to try and get your guy who is a little inaccurate but do anything to schematically get somebody open because they're blocking for them it's not like the o-line's that bad they hold up for them most of the time um when i'm looking at this game it's not you know obviously they have a lot of issues on offense but defensively like this will be the first front that georgia plays where somebody can hold the point of attack we can stack yeah we can stack the line of scrimmage and stop the line you can rush the passer they're successful on third down i think this is going to be a big like second and long third and medium game I trust Gunnar Stockton way more. But again, Oklahoma's defense will be able to get Gunnar to operate in a phone booth a lot of the times, versus getting out there and beating them on the perimeter. I like the under in this game, 44-and-a-half. Because if Oklahoma does cover, then that means their defense is going to be playing out of their mind. They're still probably going to, you know, whether it's 14 points, 17 points, 21 points. It's a low-scoring game for me. So I'm going to take the under. I'm going to go total on this game. I like Georgia. Georgia is a buzzsaw. Yeah. They can, they, I mean, they run through your face. Gunnar Stockton, they are, what, 66% on third down. They stay ahead of schedule. Their defense is good. And they'll look damn good against Oklahoma's offense. Yeah, but the thing that worries me is they haven't really played anybody to the point where they're an SEC play last week, and they're doing defensive line drills in the fourth quarter during TV timeouts. They didn't even do it for show either. Like, they didn't make a big deal about it. Someone happened to bring it up, so Kirby had to acknowledge it. Otherwise, that would have just been them going about their business. Kirby goes, listen, if you're going to do that, you have to talk to the D-line coach. Like, they just feel. They just feel like they're not getting enough work. And that is one of the more disrespectful things that have ever been said that wasn't even intentional about being disrespectful. I agree. I think Gunnar Stockton, like, you put on the Arkansas game, he just, he looks like he's playing the game, and everyone just seems a lot slower than him. He's able to see the defense well. If he knows pressure's going to get to him at a certain point, he gets out, and it seems like he jogs for 30, 40 yards. But on the back end of the defense, there's a lot of missed opportunities that Arkansas had. And I'm not saying Arkansas could have been in that game, because the talent is just, there's such a big differential there. But there's a lot of things to be had. And the thing that made Oklahoma successful last year were the X-plays that John McTeer was able to have with deep shots down the field, Satania, and him running around. I think they need to be more creative pre-snap, like you were just saying. They need to have more motions. They need to kind of see a better picture pre-snap before they can kind of dissect everything else. But I would go back to, and this is kind of weird, but I would go back to more of a backyard-style football. And McTeer, give them one or two reads, and if it's not there, go make it. Go make it. Make something happen with your legs. Because when you make it happen with your legs, you can gain yardage that way, or there can be breaks that happen in the back end of the defense, where Satania has been extremely successful. I think at the end of the day, it comes down to this defense. And this defense is incredible. I think they are going to be able to rush the passer. I'm a huge fan of Georgia's offensive line from a run-blocking standpoint. Speed is not their friend on the edges when it comes to getting, like, being able to play in space, play a little bit of basketball in a pass-rush situation. I think Georgia will win this game. But this is. This is, like, a true AGAP scenario where Venables, on Monday, does his press conference. And he probably got asked four questions, and the whole press conference is 32 minutes. Like, he is breaking down everything. To Stone, he was hurt. He got his knee banged up in a walkthrough. He's going to be just fine. Yeah, Kip Lewis, he's out. But Cole Sullivan, he's going to be in. This is what he does well. Like, he is breaking down, essentially, the entire game plan. Because you can see the frustration and the culture that he's trying to instill in these guys. I think as dead as John Mateer seems, I think he's got a little bit of fight left in him. I don't think he's going to go out like this. He was in my AGAP last week. He is more than ever in the AGAP. I can see them holding on to plus 13 and a half here. So I'll take Oklahoma to cover. And I'm going to put two on that. What did you go with? Oh, I'll go three. Three on the under. Yeah. Three on the under, right? Three on the under. Because this game, it's not going to be fun to watch. And we thought it was going to be a premier game. Yeah. We thought it was going to be a premier game. We thought this would be where everybody was headed. Dude, I'm actually excited to see this game. Because Georgia, you're kind of talking about them on the edge too at tackle. How many of those situations will they be in throughout the game? Because, dude, they can run the ball. Like Nate Frazier is a pissed off running back. Nate Frazier is so fun to watch because you don't even need to see the number. You just see the burst when he decides where he's going to go. And you're like, oh, that's an NFL running back. Yeah. He is incredible. My opinion about Georgia is the exact same as it was before we started the year. You got them, what, missing the playoffs? I know. They're going to be in the SEC championship. They're going to go to the playoffs. I just still have not seen the perimeter. But who was your SEC championship when we did the futures? Was it like LSU and Texas? LSU-Georgia, wasn't it? It was LSU-Georgia, yeah. Oh, you had Georgia in there. Yeah, it's still the same to me. So what you're saying tracks historically. Like this is the spot. When you have a prideful program, not an upstart that's just disappointing, but like a program. I'm with the Gravitas of Oklahoma. Gravitas? Gravitas. What does that mean? I don't know. We'll Google it later, but let them cook. It's kind of like Michigan. If Michigan is down going into week two this year, Michigan's down. Everyone thinks they're dead in the water. How are they going to function offensively? There's like a certain pride factor about those kinds of programs where they don't let it go that easy. They may not end up winning as many games as you thought they would, but when their back's against the wall and when they're in wounded animals, they're in animal mode, they usually deliver above and beyond expectation. So it was Oklahoma that suffered that at the hands of Michigan in week two. That's the exact spot Oklahoma's in right now. They're not coming off a loss, but they're coming off a really uninspired effort against New Mexico. They're coming off a loss before that against Michigan. Their own people have sold. Their own people are looking and saying, there's nothing to this offense. It's dead in the water. And you are, you, I actually think you may have talked me into Oklahoma Plus. Really? I actually think I want to, very, very slightly go across zero. So go across the river and go Oklahoma Plus 13 and a half for one unit. Not to win the game. Super ugly game. Ugly. I do think that there's a lot to be said for lack of explosivity on the perimeter for Georgia. So lack of game-breaking potential to where if Oklahoma's defense can force even one short field and they can cash in even once, we've seen their special teams all year like their special teams can pin you deep. They've done it all year. I think it could be enough to keep it within the margin. So I'll go. - They played the same game too with Michigan-Oklahoma where they were just kind of backed up the whole time because they were kind of, Michigan was kind of just control in the middle of the field. - And came down to turnovers. - The other thing that you mentioned was, okay, so if John Mateer's current modus operandi is not working, why don't you just, yeah, just take him to the playground. - Holy, you took that call back and you're now ripping it. You're turning it up a notch. - He took that Brad Pitt comment to heart. - Yeah, exactly. - He's teaching us how to play some poker right now. - Why don't you do what Texas did with Arch in the second half of the Ohio State game? When all else fails, just let him play the way he did in high school. There's a lot of risk to that, but the whole context here is you're already down. You already have sort of nothing to lose. And that's his wheelhouse. He stops thinking. And maybe, just maybe, you end up in a position where you score 17, you're just completely bogged down. They can't move the ball on you. Maybe you're plus one turnovers. Maybe your special teams came through for you. You actually got a shot to pull it out Saturday. - The thing that sent me over on this one was the Oklahoma offensive line being as injured as they are, but putting on Georgia's defensive line when they just rushed four, when they had just their D lineman, they're still not getting there. They had to bring pressure every time. - But when they're bringing pressure, they're in Buddy's face. - Their linebackers are incredible, no doubt. - One-coast front seven got after Oklahoma's run game. - But I think people need to respect New Mexico a little bit. - Yeah, but I'm with you, I agree. But Georgia and New Mexico? - I'm with you. - Both beautiful states. - Both beautiful, yeah. - I don't know about New Mexico. - And I was laughing earlier too. You're like, look at the playbook for Arch Manning in the second half of Ohio State. You got to put John Mateer in those backyard situations. And all that's going through my head is you got to put him in fourth and six and fourth and nine. - That's exactly what you got to do. - Let him go. - Give him some, got to have it or it's all over. - You're getting fourth and nine, use them in on our buckling. - Hey, this is where we are. - How do we feel about Oklahoma State at Western Michigan? I called FanDuel yesterday. We got FanDuel Mike on the phone because I know what's happening here. Obviously, in normal circumstances on a neutral field, they would have Ole Miss favored. They think Ole Miss is better than Florida in a normal circumstance. But since this is not a neutral field and since it's in Gainesville, they would have to tack on three for Florida. But even then, you would look at that and say, okay, but if I subtract three off of this, that still implies Florida is a slight favorite on a neutral field. So I called FanDuel. I said, all right, in addition to all the normal stuff, how many additional points have you baked in here for like a special one-off, super letdown moment? Because this is like a special circumstance type of point spread. Everyone understands that. He said three whole points for the Lane Kiffin. We just beat him. It's a letdown spot. We're on the road. We're against an upstart team. Three additional points have been baked in. Is it too many is the question that you have to be asking yourself. How much do you think the letdown really matters? Because all it takes is Trinidad Chambliss gets them up 14-0, all that's wiped out. All the letdown stuff's wiped out. Or conversely, you guys watched Florida Auburn last week. You saw Florida get after Auburn physically. So like my concern in a letdown spot, normally in college football especially, is not whether guys will be focused the next Saturday. It's did you go through something so emotionally and physically taxing the previous Saturday that you let your foot off the gas from a preparation standpoint to where if you play a physical opponent the next week, you can't match their physicality 'cause that's when you get buried. Florida is the kind of team that can do that. The Swamp is the kind of environment that can do that. This is the first ranked versus ranked game there since 2022, by the way. There's no way that that carries over. So, Byron Brown, Trinidad Chambliss, safe to say two different players. Safe to say. So I don't think Florida's getting after Trinidad Chambliss and getting him to the ground nearly to the degree they did last week. But on the flip side, Byron Brown had two something through the air. He had a fair amount of success throwing the ball in Florida. Florida's secondary is low-key still really suspect. And so Trinidad Chambliss could have a field day there. I really wanna know if Kiwan Lacy's going in this game. 'Cause to me, that's not the end of the world if he doesn't, but that changes things pretty drastically. But I'm asking myself, how many points, if Florida wins this game, how many points do you think it will have required them to score? 'Cause I think the minimum's like 38. If you press Trinidad Chambliss for four quarters, if it gets into the type of deep end, four quarter, Ole Miss is trailing, and they're empty in the chamber, to me, they're scoring 35, at least in that scenario. To me, you gotta have 38, at least, if you're Florida. So I keep running through all that in my head, and I'm like, let's see, Ole Miss already had 38 hung on 'em against Louisville in week one. So I've seen teams score. I like what Philo and Buster Faulkner are doing right now. I love the yard after catch ability, not to mention just the flat-out receiver ability that they have. So there's a lot to like offensively about both sides. And then I see a total in the upper 50s. And I'm like, don't overthink the room. Just slap the table for the over. - All right. - At 58 and a half. - Kind of a casual slap. - Under 58 and a half. That's my favorite play of the week. Not like in the same sphere, but a similar situation to where this is, to me, it's gonna be bad. We're gonna see a bad first half. I like the under here. I just like the under. I'm fading all of it. - So let me just, your logic is that both teams had emotional games. Both of their game plays are gonna go down. - Correct. - That's your logic. - Correct. - But wouldn't a similar logic be to that if Ole Miss is here from a talent standpoint and Florida's here from a talent standpoint and they both just do this, the points will still go because the defense on the Ole Miss side plays a little slower, but so does, it's kind of the same game just at a slower speed. Instead of being at 10, you turn to nine for both teams. - We'll see what happens. - There's no, okay, there's no response to that. - It makes sense in my brain. - Yeah. - That's all that matters. - That makes sense. I wanna give a lot of respect to Florida's defensive line. Like I kind of sat here last week before the game and I was like, they seem like Velcro in a lot of ways with the offensive line, like when they go against the offensive line, they don't get a lot of pressure. - What's his heritage? - African. - So, to Will's comment, they got their African back, number 99, incredible ball player. - Bustin' with the boys. Bustin' with the boys. They got that African back. - We have fun here. Nothing like three white guys in a studio saying they got their African back. - I mean, he is a dog. For Ole Miss, like it was a lot of the question marks for me was like, who's gonna step up outside of Deuce Alexander and Caleb Odom and a handful of other guys did in that game. Trinidad just strikes me as a guy that never gets too high, never gets too low. He handled it the entire week that way. He seemed that way during the game, poised with LSU. He seemed that way after the game as well. He won Lacey. Being out is like a worry for a second, but then you realize that just means Trinidad's gonna have the ball in his hand more. So is that actually a fear or have they become more dangerous that way? And then there's a secondary for Florida. So all the things you said, I lean heavily on Ole Miss plus three and a half. I have a lot of respect for Florida and what they were able to do 'cause the box score didn't say the same, didn't say what the game actually was against Auburn. I think they handled that game, but I'll go five on 58 and a half. best in the country and they haven't gotten after anyone they couldn't even get after portland state last week the score was 84 to nothing but if you watched the individual line play they didn't really like wage some all-out assault against oregon against portland state maybe they took it easy on them they didn't take it easy on oklahoma state and they couldn't get after them uh they've got injury at receiver dante moore has been a shell of himself since that indiana game last year to me and still had a lot to prove in the indiana game so it's not like he was a superstar it's there's a lot of potential there's like a lot of hype and potential with dante moore the duty of the game is to prove that dante moore is a good guy he's a good guy the dude is yet to blow it up in a big game i think his biggest win correct me if i'm wrong here because i could be just blatantly forgetting a game i thought when they went on the road to iowa last year in that rainy game and it wasn't like pretty numbers but they had to come from behind and they had to win like a gritty game like a roll up your sleeves kind of game that to me was good for dante moore since then like what am i hanging my hat on i'm not hanging my hat on this run game i'm not hanging my hat on the throw game i'm not hanging my hat on them getting after you up front defensively so to me if i were to wipe the slate clean if i were to be the anti-ap voter and forget what i thought in pre-season and just go based on what i've seen so far this year and i'm not even saying usc's look like a world beater because they got pushed by rutgers last week but if they can get off the field early in the game if they if they don't have like 42 plays run on them in the first half where that defensive front is gassed in the second half because they don't rotate a whole lot of guys if they could be in this thing i think they got the edge at quarterback until further notice um i think absolutely both guys need it both coaches need it but i think lincoln really needs it because you're talking job security with him and if they lose this game i don't like him against ohio state i don't like him against indiana they show so all the nice things we've said about dan lanning and this is how you're going to turn them week four i don't look at it that way i look at it as dan lanning's turned on me i put him in my national championship game and he has the audacity i picked him to win the national championship he has the audacity to go and lose at oklahoma state yeah and i think he needs to take the sunglasses shades off in the most unlikely of places in los angeles in the epicenter of the entertainment industry i would argue second there's such a huge job for dan landing to sit there and break the sunglasses right after the coin flip take them off break them and throw them on the ground live organ but also live that yeah who has uh who is lincoln riley beat nobody game moments nobody he's beaten michigan brian kelly that's i'll tell you the two it's michigan and it's chiron that that season kind of went downhill it's brian kelly it's lsu that season went downhill lincoln riley does not have a single signature win at usc and we're a decade in so this is not a pick coming from the confidence of lincoln's done it for me before it's a pick coming from the total lack of confidence from lanning who's done it for me for a few times but i just think the dude is probably a little deficient at coordinator right now and i don't know that he's he's not singing the same tune mike elko is maybe at a m because those are two places where they promoted from within last year at coordinator because they were going into the playoffs and so they had to make a move um who knows maybe i'll be dead wrong on that but all i can judge it on is results so far and the result out of the gates is like i cannot imagine the the sunday slash monday periods after the oklahoma state game because when you're watching that it feels like it would have been a scroll that would roll to the side of the building of all kinds of issues of effort issues just pure physical issues technical issues execution uh alignment assignment coaching all of the above i can't imagine how long those meetings were so do i just think that's cleaned up after an 84-0 win portland state i don't know it was the most uninspiring football i've ever seen i was gonna say effort and they got pushed the week before effort was bad the the physicality up front was bad i think you you pointed out something really good about the offensive line like their intention is correct the way they try to play very physical their problem is they try to play physical in the past game as well like the left tackle very athletic very nimble feet but there's multiple times he's leading his head out there and that Oklahoma State defensive lineman is kind of getting around him no problem turning a corner because he is trying to get a kill shot every single time. If you were to say a woe to that offensive line a little bit more, focus more on taking the right steps and getting in the right fits, then have that tenacity behind it, I think their run game is a whole lot better. I don't disagree with you, Dante Moore. There's a lot to be desired when it comes to him and his gameplay. There's multiple, I think, pulls that he could have had, specifically the first one of the game, first play of the game, that he could have pulled one and had himself a nice run similar to Mestemaker for Oklahoma State when they had their first run of the game. Josh Allen. Josh Allen. We might as well just call him Josh Allen at this point. McCullen having the foot injury. For a lot of teams, that makes me concerned, but talent's not the issue with Oregon. You have DeCorey Moore, you got Stewart, they have another tight end. They have multiple guys in the backfield that can run the ball. Here's where I think that it changes is Dan Lanning probably promoted these guys within from a coordinator standpoint, took his hands off of the defensive side of the ball specifically and allowed his coordinator to do that. After you deal with a game like Oklahoma State where it's uninspired, the defensive line who's supposed to be the greatest in all of college football doesn't do what they're supposed to do, that's where Dan identifies quickly, understands, well, what got me in the position to be the head coach of Oregon, and that's defensive coordinator. So I think his hands are, his fingerprints are much more on this defensive front, on these linebackers, on this secondary, because the talent's all there. And if you watch the defense, it's the linebackers who have also been very disappointing. They're way farther back to where they think to themselves, the defensive line's going to handle the run game for us, they'll handle the passing from us. We're just going to help out more in the middle of the field because we have the horses to do it. I don't think that's the case. I think you're going to see a lot more pressure. Maiva does great with pressure, but Maiva also likes to play a little bit of hero ball, and that's what they're going to try to pressure them into. When I look at USC and Oregon, it's like both teams disappointing in some ways. One way more than the other. But USC's like, they are extremely talented across the board, but all of their talent, most of their talent, their best players are younger underclassmen, freshmen guys. So now you're getting in Big Ten play, you see the uniform and it means a little something different to you because it's your first time playing against Oregon. It's your first time being in, hey, this one really matters. We're in conference play now. Pressures elevate, and I will take experience over that. That's the part to me that Dan Landon getting in the defense, the experience of these players being in this position before, because I think USC, if we fast forward to two years, it's like, yeah, you look at these teams, I'm going to take that. I think the most impressive thing I've seen from USC is as long as Lincoln Riley has been at USC in a four minute drill, I've never seen a team, his team, start with the ball four minutes into the game and they're up and end with the ball in their hands. And as bad as Rutgers has been, they did that against Rutgers, which shows growth. Like King Miller runs the ball well. I think they have the edge on the offensive side of the ball, offensive line side of the ball. But Dan Landon and culture. If I picked them to win the national championship, I think they made a lot of corrections. And we have a great example of quick corrections being made in week two with Michigan and Oklahoma. That's where I'll go Oregon. I'll take them minus three and a half. I'll put three on that. Yeah. If you're Dan Landon, you can't have the sunglasses in the trophy case with Lincoln Riley. Because we talk about this sometimes about how sometimes there's high expectations publicly for a team and they underachieve. But then later on down the road, you'll find out the coaching staff kind of knew all along. The coaching staff was surprised the hype was that big publicly because they knew they were flawed. Then there are other times where the coaching staff is just as shocked as the public is. My guess, I've not talked to Lanning about this. My guess is they're pretty surprised. Oh, yeah, that's just my guess. You have seven guys that didn't decide. Not to go to the NFL to come back and had as much production as they have. They've had they have a great I mean, they're good across the board at every single position. How do you not sit there and be like, yeah, we're going to win it all this year? Dude, you. There's no way they sat there and they're like, well, it's kind of crazy. No, it ain't surprising like that. It's surprising, like pissed off, like all the potential you have, especially on the defensive side of the ball and watching the effort in that Oklahoma State game. I can only imagine what type of week of practice that they had against Oregon State, but you've been in those spots. It's not like you're surprised, like we're just as surprised as the public. You're surprised because you're pissed off about, you know, we are pissing away everything we got in this room right now. Like the problem is in this room. The answer is also in this room. Like it's all gut check. It's all challenging from day and landing, especially as a defensive minded guy. And your defense is performing like that. If you see the backers to like fucking fly around, they like to do a lot of stuff from the from to show to where you kind of got it on the racer in the middle. So that's where they're a little more. They have a little bit more depth and they play softer because you. Do think that the line is going to cut it up. But man, there's just too much talent on that roster and on that side of the ball. I don't want to go down this road because it seems like post Penn State meltdown last year. Everyone's looking for like the next Penn State. I don't know that you're going to have that every year. However, if you do have that this year, the prime candidate would be a team like Oregon. A team that's loaded up. Are you making a Danny Franklin comment right now? I'm not going to say Dan Franklin. But you're kind of saying. You basically are saying it. Other people have said it. You're bringing it up without any of us talking about it. No, possibly yes. But what I'm saying is if they've got two loss, if they're if their expectation was national title or bust, which it was just like Penn State last year and there are two loss team before October, you've got a real threat of the cart jumping off the tracks. You know, it sucks. You're right. And that they still got multiple losable games ahead of that. That was your week one a gap. Which is I was kind of saying it like. Prophetic. I was. There's so much belief in Dan landing. It's like, yeah, this is a boom or bust year for them. And I had one national. I haven't doing all that. But if you don't. That could be a case. And I never thought that this would even be a possibility if we lose this game. If they lose this game, there is a serious chance that these players pack it in. And I think that if they lose the game, you need to just count on the fact that no one heard what you just said. And when we go on air next week on Friday, you got to get Tom and the production folks. To just tee that up in week one. And you got to lean back and say, told you so. No, I could never do that to Dan. Told you so. Danny boy ain't losing. I could never do that to Dan. He ain't losing this weekend, bro. Unless.
