This is not me talking. Oh, no. I'm going to say the pessimist would look at you and say, how do you know you hit the floor? How do you know you didn't fall some of the way, but then the dust clears? It's like National Treasure. They're falling down the shaft, but then they look down and they're still can't see the bottom. Or to put it another way, how do you know it won't get worse this week? That's what the pessimist would say. Man in the arena. Yep. You know what I mean? Like I've been throughout. When in doubt, Roosevelt. Man in the arena. Like you don't think I've been down 67% of my life in some phase? In multiple phases of my life. Like I've seen the bottom. I know what it looks like. Reach. Man in the arena. I'll tell him. Man in the arena. Um, first show was in the books, ESPN show. How about that time? That was a fun time. Josh Payne, really, you ran a lot of that in the first. It's really our first time doing actual television or hosting a show on real television. I thought you came in, did an incredible job. I, my favorite part of the entire show is when they're in our year, going into like the third break and Will is giving a breakdown of what's to come. Hey, we've got the a gap next and we, and all of our ears here, 10 seconds. So Will. Oh shit, that was my sign off. His greatest decision was instead of letting it fade out and having nine, eight seconds of just quiet as people look at the landscape of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It's Will counted down with us. We got nine seconds, eight until we go to a commercial break. Stick with me here. Have some empathy. It's the first time it was the most bustle with the boys S thing I've ever seen on mainstream television. It was amazing. Yeah. When we get back, Oh, I'm hearing we got 10 seconds left. Nine. Yeah, we were. It was awesome. We worked it out. It was a good showing in Baton Rouge. We expect a good showing in Ann Arbor. Ann Arbor right now, it's in chaos. It's down 67%. The pessimists would sit there and say, how do you know this is not rock bottom? We'll find out this week. But the only way to really get a good gauge, a good temp on that town is to see who shows up on Friday. Shows up on Friday at Ferry Field, are they going to come, show out, and be ready to take on Oklahoma. Before we get into the breakdown of it, where are you at? Friend to friend, checking on my boy. You've seen a lot of phrases. The Michigan Bell Mary, the Michigan Screwjob, the Michigan Miracle. Where are you at in your mind, mentally, physically, and emotionally? You take 24 hours to digest what's taking place. I think the best thing for this school is that even though there is a win, we have a win in week one, nothing feels like a win in that game. Most people would actually say that we didn't actually win. We didn't win that game. That the Big Ten went behind the max back, stabbed them, and allowed us to have one more second on the clock. It is what it is. 47-yard Hail Mary, I don't know what the odds are on that, but to do that twice and get one is, I think, a way better stat than it would be for anybody else. I see the fan base rush the field. My initial thought on that is, yuck, I don't like it. Makes me feel hesitant. I pull the leash back a little. People hated your celebration. People hated my celebration. That's where I was going. Then I look at my celebration, and as we're leaving Baton Rouge and flying back to Nashville, I'm like, I can't believe you just kind of got excited. I can't believe you got that excited about Western Michigan. And the reality is this. Those fans in that stadium, and myself at the tarmac, were not getting excited about beating a MAAC team who won the MAAC last year, actually a really good team. They're going to be solid this year. Kudos to Western Michigan. Yeah. We are excited at the idea that our season isn't over. Because if you lose that game, the season is over. All the hopes, and everyone buying stock in August and July, and people talking about Bryce Underwood's camp, how much better he looks, look how great our roster is. Kyle Whittingham sitting at a press conference saying he will give them an A-plus in the season. It just all feels like a lie at that point. And the only thing you really have to hang your hat on is, regardless of what people said or what people want to believe, we're 1-0. So that's me celebrating the same way the fans are, of like, Western Michigan has nothing to do with this. It's what our season is still alive. That's what makes the excitement and all the rush in the field. Do I love them rushing the field? No. Do I love me jumping up and down and hugging Peyton Klump? No. I don't love that. That has to be my reaction in week one versus a MAAC school. But that was the most honest reaction I could have possibly had. M-F-S-G-A. T-K-T-K. Mayfield. And that's a good opportunity to bring up how, people want to tell people how to fan. Like, guys can't run on the field and be excited about their team. Seriously. Saved an entire 2026 season. Yeah. Possibly saved an entire 2026 season. Because there's a lot of examples out there that we can look at in a week one or early in the season for college teams in the past that have gotten their ass kicked in one week and then go on to win the national championship. Lose to an inferior opponent and make it to a national championship. We have plenty of examples of that. So for someone to say, hey, make Fieldstorming great again, it's just one of those things where it's like, why are we gatekeeping fandom? Good. People can't go out and fan the way they want. The only thing I will not stand for when it comes to fandom is jumping off the bandwagon of your team so early. That's a fake fan. Someone who, when the stuff gets a little tough, you're in the trenches, you sit there and you're like, you know what? I'm out. You've got to be a trench guy. If you're going to say, I'm putting my name behind this team, the first time adversity strikes, you don't just, run and hide. You don't just, you don't run away. You stick with your team. And if you say, make a statement two weeks prior saying, I'm not judging my team until week two, you stay with that team. You don't waver inside of adversity. When there's turbulence on a plane, if you were to look at the flight attendant and she's shitting her pants, you're not going to be feeling pretty good. Be the flight attendant for your team when things aren't going well. That's what you need. It seems really, really personal. No, no. Are you talking to the wall behind me or are you talking to me? It's more at this. Thank you. My statement is more at this toxic warehouse that we live in where people want to sit and tell people how to be a fan. We've got great fans in this building. Every single one of you are great fans. But because someone hasn't been a fan long enough or they, okay, not Jared. Well, clump, clump fan how you want. Fan how you want. If you're going to tie your name to a team, it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if things are going well or not. At some point, you have to be realistic about your team, but not in week two. Not in week two. Never in week two. You do that after week two. You do that after week five. But if fans want to be excited about the fact that their dreams of 2026 season, do we forget that we sat here March, April, May, and we see the world start to get nasty. A war started around the world. June and July. Because football, wasn't around. - That was it. - People say it's because football wasn't around. Now we get to football and we have all these fan bases that have hopes and dreams and aspirations of reaching the pinnacle. And you almost lose to a Mac team. And at the last second, some say after the last second, you get a second chance at life. You're rebirthed and you have your opportunity to keep your playoff dreams alive. I think that deserves storming on the field. I think you can fan however you want, but what we will not do, is turn our backs on the team that we love after one week. - We will not do that. - That's how I feel about that. - Hmm. - Yeah. - I'm trying to figure out where he is, mentally, physically, and emotionally. I feel like a lot was happening there to where one time I thought it was kind of directed at Payne. - No, no, actually none of that was ever directed at you. - I thought we were talking how he just stared a hole in me, but it wasn't directed at me. - Then he goes up. - You were like my direct line of sight. - He goes. - When you thought it was at you, I thought I'd turn to. - Right, right. - Who this is really about. - As I keep going. - But can I tell you? Can I tell you? - Go ahead. - You were seated right next to me. He was across from us. And there was, what was it? Hour 15, hour 10 minute flight back from Baton Rouge. And there was like a solid, I don't know, 10 or 15 minute chunk after the high had worn off. And you're all kind of looking at your phone. How long is it until we land? There was about a 10 or 15 minute chunk where you kind of had this look. - Yeah. - And it was kind of, you're not looking at anyone. You're kind of just, you're lost in your thoughts. - Yes. - And at that point, I didn't say anything 'cause I wanted to take it all in. And I wanted to give you your space to take it all in. And then you kind of broke and you said, we rushed the field against Western Michigan after beating them. But I basically rushed my own field. And so you owned it in the moment. We were all witnessing it, experiencing it. And that moment I said, Wednesday's still a long way away. Where will he be Wednesday? And I gotta tell you, I'm happy. - Are you? - I'm happy for you. You're back. - I'm back. - You're back. - Yeah. - And you're gonna board a plane and you're gonna go up there Friday and you're gonna pick whoever you pick to win the game. I'm sure there'll be some honest, thorough analysis. You'll give Oklahoma a good look. And then come what may, it'll tee up and we'll kick it off Saturday at noon, Eastern time, right? Michigan Eastern time? - Yep, yep, noon Eastern time. - Now, a lot of people see pessimism. A lot of people see a reason to sell, but isn't there also maybe an opportunity to buy in here at the very, very bottom of the barrel? 'Cause as angry as I was at the, you know, the procedure and the way the Big Ten office handled it, that's like, that's in this cup right here. The Michigan Cup's like a whole separate cup. The Michigan Cup is, yeah, the offense didn't look anything like I hoped it would. Yeah, it was a lethargic performance, but what did I expect them to do? I expected them to start one and O, record book says one and O. So now Oklahoma comes to town and you know what we get to do? We get to put the wounded animal theory to test. - Oh, I love it. - The difference is normally- - Wounded, not dead. - No one loves a more. But normally the wounded animal's coming off a loss. You're coming off a win, and everyone's treating it like a loss. And now you get an opportunity against an Oklahoma team. You went to their building, they beat you last year. They come to your building and you got a really, really good defense and the whole world's gonna doubt you. And so I've looked at this game ever since the previous one ended and I've said, I know what America's reaction's about to be. Is that gonna be my reaction? - It's loud. - The whole country is against Michigan right now. Michigan is essentially the LSU of the Big 10. - Let me, okay, let's throw this out there. Let's throw this out there. - They're just the most hated. - 'Cause that's a very, very, very loaded statement. - As far as public opinion. - It's like wanting them to lose. - Clearly the offense is not the same right now. That's not what I'm saying, fellas. - Will it get there? - Yes, it will, D, that's a great take. - This year will it get there? - Listen, I reserve my true opinion about Michigan until after week two. - Until after week two. Do you think the whole world's against Michigan? Or the world's angry at the Big 10? - I don't think the world has zoomed out enough to realize they should be angry at the Big 10. - Shame on the world. - Shame on the world indeed. I think because of '21 through '23, all the stuff that happened with Sherron Moore in the off season this past year, there's clearly a negative light that is on Michigan. I am not too ignorant to see that. And because this comes up and the logo is Michigan, they don't see that, they don't make the call and make the decision for an extra second or the second not to be fully done. That is a Big 10 decision that took place. Michigan is catching shrapnel because of the last four or five years and I can fully get on board with that. I can understand why the hate's there. I can understand why like people that aren't even Oklahoma fans are going to fly to this game just to root against Michigan. I think that's exactly where Michigan needs to be right now. I'll tell you this too. Around noon central time yesterday we were sitting in this nice air conditioning office and what was taking place in Ann Arbor on that practice field will be forever known as Bloody Tuesday. I have been told that is one of the most physical and painful practices that any program has gone through in the last 25 years. And there's a big issue with physicality on the line of scrimmage. I think they got after it yesterday in a way that I'm hoping will show up on Saturday. In a way that you can't really write in a book because it was that bloody. Yeah it was yeah you can't write that you can't put that in a Disney movie. I know that. Yeah. You can't do that. Is there a part of you that's like Bloody Tuesday in week two this soon already? I think we just got out of training camp. Given the circumstances of what took place and how lethargic your words of Michigan was on the opposite side of the ball. Yes. And you go back and watch the first drive like it was like the first they marched on the field 75 yards and score but they didn't play clean. They had a botched snap. Bryce threw in a double coverage at one point. Like the run game wasn't super efficient. Even the one that Bryce almost scored in where he rolled out like that if that was handed that would have been a touchdown right away. Like there were things you saw where it's like yeah the result was six but it wasn't like wow look at this operation taking place. The line of scrimmage wasn't moving the way it was supposed to move. I can tell you're a caged animal and you're ready to cook so I'm just going to interject and talk just say what the line is on this game and you can keep going and build off of last week's performance. But right now surprise surprise Oklahoma at Michigan the line right now has moved. It is now four and a half. Oklahoma's favored by four and a half. They're over under on this game. The total is 43 and a half. Go ahead continue to get in the kitchen. I've kind of said I've said a lot. I'd love to hear your guys's opinion about where this game stands. I've kind of given my opinion. We can talk about the game. I think Oklahoma's a great football team but go ahead. I think this is Bryce Underwood's biggest game of his life. Agreed. Because you listen to Coach Whittingham come out this past week in press conferences and the feeling that his name is written in pencil as a starter. Even everybody who last year where Bryce Underwood was either playing well or he wasn't playing well it was up and down it was up and down and then coming into this year it was confidence. Now I feel like that confidence in the public favoritism of Bryce Underwood has now turned in your fingers are crossed behind your back hoping that he is going to turn around because like everybody is now on the fence of Bryce Underwood because you look at last game like it was it was not very good to put it as lightly as possible. Bryce is a first read cat. Every throw that I've seen him break down because there wasn't a lot. I had a little jokingly sarcastic tweet great news Michigan didn't show a lot of offense when they face Oklahoma next week but again there wasn't a whole lot of offense shown because out of the 12 throws that Bryce has five of them are screens and then you have the other ones that happen he has a you know an interception or a pick six that does get called back right. He said the DB steps out of bounds but he had one in the first quarter as well and only because the DB tips it while his foot is out of bounds that it wasn't an interception. His only big throws were the Hail Mary and then a botch snap that he fumbles and he throws it up and my man one hands it but other than that he's he knows where he's going pre-snap and he's going there no matter what. The pick six the throwing into a clock corner and his he gets his tight end yop and he's kind of smiling under 11. I don't really know if he's meaning it like I have no clue and then other throws where he's trying to get the ball downfield he's forcing into double coverage. He's not going through any progression but if Michigan's going to have a shot to win this game in my opinion they're going to have to do things they're going to have to do two things play penalty free because they shot themselves in the foot a lot with penalties and they're just going to have to win on early downs because this Oklahoma defense is fast they're physical they get after your ass and offensively like I there's just not a lot of hope in my brain that Bryce is just going to turn it around all of a sudden when his coach is kind of saying his name's written in pencil when everybody's on him they're on the fence now of not being really confident they got their fingers behind their back and it's like all of that pressure I know he gets paid a ton of money but all of that going on in the psyche of a 19 year old that knows he only he knows if he's going to get to where he's working his progression and one more thing on Bryce is like yeah he's he's 19 he's 20 but this is probably the first time in his life he's dealing with this type of adversity from people judging you in a negative light on yeah Tori he's truly getting questioned as a football player yes like your identity that you've probably had since whenever you put the cleats on for the first time yeah is now in question that you're not who you thought you were yeah publicly and then when you look at Oklahoma and John Mateer to me John Mateer is what you hope Bryce Underwood would be because when I watch Mateer like he didn't have all the the biggest stat line in the world but when you watch him play he's somebody that has very calm feet he seems very confident he's going through progressions when he hit he is in those moments of throwing the ball downfield so there's one clip out there where he's got a fire zone coming in his face and his first read is the same flat player where it looks like it's man-to-man he feels like he's a little too tight but his feet are calm and poised to where he goes backside and hits old buddy over the middle while he's getting hit the run game you can tell that they want to establish the run uh yeah number nine you can tell that this is a team that wants to be physical and run the ball this year based on how bad they were at the line of scrimmage last year and you go to they're going to see a lot of Michigan is going to see a lot of 12 personnel sets they might open it up a little bit more Oklahoma might not have shown a lot last week but they're going to be in a lot of two tight end sets and those boys can block those dudes can block man there's not going to be a lot of film that you see on these tight ends to where they had an ma a misassignment or lost physically at the line of scrimmage so I feel like all of that I trust Michigan's defense I trust Oklahoma's defense I'm confident about Oklahoma feeling good offensively I feel like I haven't seen enough there this is a massive John material game because he's going to be put in those situations where it's third and medium and he's going to have to make some magic with his feet or keep his eyes down field I like the under most in this game just because the way it's swung Mission kind of being in a wounded animal situation they're going to obviously open up the playbook and you just hope Bryce Wood is going to make the correct decisions run the ball a little bit more go through progressions I don't feel like it's there but where I'm going to go with my with my bet I'm going to go two units on the under Oklahoma Michigan I like that that's where my analysis is going georgia tech did last year i'm not going to get a great box score with haynes king knowing what you got at quarterback and running the crap out of him because that's what gives you the best chance to win and i can tell you those two tailbacks going 16 for 59 yards that's not going to get it done like to me i know bryce young or bryce underwood rather is the face of all this but like offensive line not taking over the game last week those tailbacks not taking over the game like collectively just as a team even if it's close at half even if it's close mid third quarter you're michigan eventually you just lean and you lean and you lean and they break because they're western and you're just michigan so that never happened so like there's got to be a soul searching program wide not just the quarterback position and if i were to look up uh saturday and let's say it's like 17 to 16 michigan in the fourth quarter it's probably not because bryce underwood's thrown for 310 yards his stat line probably looks pretty pedestrian but he's protected the ball they've owned field position they they have not let oklahoma be number one in red zone scoring percentage which they were offensively last year they've taken care of business down there they've held them to threes like they've done the critical things hidden yardage stuff team football complimentary football that's what michigan should be capable of like it wasn't but two weeks ago we sat here and you and i and i think maybe will contributed but it was mainly you and i locked into the idea that maybe michigan's a sneaky playoff contender i haven't forgotten why i felt that way and the reasons i felt that way are all still on this team the problem is that's feel and eventually oklahoma comes to town and like oh i believe in oklahoma too but oklahoma is not they're not smoking mirrors oklahoma's not flash they're not sizzle like oklahoma's a wrecking ball and you don't find yourself offensively against that kind of team so to me the path is can i scratch out 20 points here and then can i make that enough that's to me the michigan plan yeah and if they score non-offensively great but i'm saying 20 offensive points can i find those and if if i can i'm very happy with that and at that point i take my chances i think their shot here is doing that is running bryce underwood as much as you need to and then finding a way to bait john matier into some of those hero balls that he throws up sometimes and hoping that you can get a pick hoping that maybe defensively you can make something happen that scenario does not surprise me at all if it happens i'm like a one unit lean to oklahoma minus four and a half or five and a half five and a half in the last hour really it was five and a half six and a half got up to six and a half yesterday this morning at four and a half now it's yeah so it's moving around quite a bit another point i gotta tell you what do they know maybe they don't know it's bouncing all around the place maybe they're trying to figure it out you know the public the tickets uh the heavy percentage is oklahoma yeah absolutely as and as they should be like all the things we broke down about michigan and how bad they were on offense it was it was as a fan like i know all the anger that's put towards michigan but the one thing that i would hang my hat on as a guy that wore the maize and blue and be excited about every single time is any team that went and played michigan you would think to yourself like oh you have to buckle your chin strap up a little bit more and put some more air in your helmet because that is at the very least going to be an extremely physical game that there are more more times than not going to win that did not take place in week one i have a lot of respect for oklahoma clearly we had a quarter zip situation back in the playoffs but still the school the pageantry the blue chip all of it john matier bulking up looking a whole lot better like i am i like oklahoma a lot this year they returned seven starters on the defensive side of the ball they got a nose tackle that is supposed to be an elite cat they got guys that are just disciplined and do not make mistakes on the opposite side of the ball you brought up they ran 12 a lot they were in 12 50 50 plays out of their what 63 plays maybe and then they had 11 more yeah on an 11 person so they are brent venables which we've talked about is they were horrendous at running the ball last year this year there's a concerted effort to we need to run the ball better so they get the two transfer tight ends both great blockers uh the one from colorado state is a little bit of a better of a pass catcher rocky beers rocky beers what a what a name and 89 is like thick like you can tell he loves block the thing that gives me hope and optimism is oklahoma's injuries that have taken place on their offensive line their left tackle who was in an elite talent i think this kid's got a very special future especially on sundays he's nursing this right arm like you see it throughout the game i think he only played like 17 snaps and they're wondering if he's not and they have a couple more guys that are backups that are injured that may or may not be back coming into saturday but if he does play the guy going against him is john henry daly who had 11 and a half sacks before he tore his achilles last year at the university of utah on the other side of him is dom nichols who had two sacks against a western michigan team that threw the ball like 14 times throughout the game so this is a very very very very very very very very talented very aggressive defensive line and i say defensive uh aggressive hesitantly because what gets teams into trouble with john matier is over aggression in your pass rush so there has to be a level of rushing the passer making john matier feel uncomfortable to throw those hero balls but also keeping it in a cage rush where he doesn't have a lot of outlets to go and run because you're going to have a todd bowles a nathaniel staley out there basically mirroring so if he does break out of contain you have a guy on him quickly so he can't hurt you with his legs offensive side of the ball you have so many guys returning on the offensive line i think the the whole team has starting experience from last year you have a little bit of an exchange taking place of who's going to really start at the guard position but uh harding the o-line coach has been he's one of the best o-line coaches in college football he's had multiple first round picks at the university of utah he's been with them for a long time um then there's bryce and i think you you put it perfectly about this kid this is truly judgment day for him he this is not like uh hey we'll get him next week type of mentality when it comes to michigan after whittingham's thoughts about the public at the university like we are truly going to find out on saturday who this kid is and what he's truly made of because this is the first time in his life that he's been backed into a corner and people point out and be like maybe you're not the football player we thought you were then two things are gonna happen he's gonna adapt or he's gonna die and i think the way you adapt is you sit there as jason beck the offensive coordinator and you say you have one maybe two reads and once those two reads are, if they're not clean, get out, use your legs. You run them. I think there's been a lot of negativity surrounding his toughness about when people are at his feet, when the pocket starts to close a little bit, that's when you see a lot of those throw in a double coverage, taking hits, fumbling. To me, it's like, hey, you need to prove that you're tough. You need to prove that you make the decisions and you take care of the football. But at the end of the day, one game and how bad that rush was, when you have all of your starters back from the year before on the offensive line. Can't be that way. It can't be that way. To me, it's like, we looked at Whittingham and it's like, this coach is a winning head coach at a, no disrespect, a program that doesn't get the same amount of talent as Michigan gets. Yet every year he's putting nine, 10 wins on the board and he's doing it without a drafted quarterback. The last drafted quarterback he has was Alex Smith in 2002. 2011, that was a first round pick. So all those things considered, if your quarterback is not doing well, Kyle Whittingham should be the perfect coach to have on your team to make your offense still successful in those ways. You had Jordan Marshall who rushed for not, I think it was like 38 yards away from a thousand yards last year. You have Sabian Hyder who was the best running back in his class. You got, who's the receiver? Number three, Marsh. Andrew Marsh, who had almost a thousand yards last year and with a quarterback. They had bad numbers. JJ Buchanan, who was truly the only highlight of the offense. He had 125 yards receiving. So you have all this talent, put the ball down, make it, make it gritty. Don't look at scoring a touchdown on a drive as a winner or a loss. Sustain drives in the first and second quarter. Don't go three and out. Figure out a way to move the sticks. Even if it ends up in three, even if you end up taking five, six minutes off the clock and then end up punting. Those are the small things when you're in a position like this offense is that is going to breed success for the long haul. Cause I believe that this defense is going to keep this game close. Like we, we have a great defense, but we have two corners and a safety that will play on Sundays. We have three D linemen that I believe was playing. So we have so much talent in Jay Hill who will get to BYU in a little bit. Was it had a top 20 defense with a B with BYU logo on his, on his hat. And then people talk about how, like, how can you make this big of a turnaround? How can, how can this take? And yet we forget that two years ago, Notre Dame goes and beats Texas A&M in a dramatic fashion. The next week lays in a against NIU and still makes it to the national championship. georgia tech is their offensive defensive line like colorado kind of the biggest news coming out of colorado in the offseason was how small their team looked and how like little they looked yet they owned the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball and i also agree with you where tennessee has a much better offensive line than colorado has and when i put on the film against furman i don't think tennessee's office line played particularly well like they just kind of leaned on guys sanders that left tackle i think he is like another world talent where you know probably a first round pick but his he's very raw technically to where some of these firm and defensive linemen are getting him like falling over at the hips kind of waist bending quite a bit and getting around him a little bit but i love josh hypo and i love his play calling ability i love how he has a a freshman quarterback starting for the first time and as much yards as he's thrown for he didn't put too much on his plate with super complex routes and you know having multiple reads it was hey you got these one or two things if that doesn't work out extend the play if you see something else if not run it's very simplistic game plan but um i like the way hypo if things aren't working in the past game he'll go to the run game and he has that ability with bishon he's going to go to the run game and he has that faze on brandon his ability to run the ball i love the story of georgia tech going to week one getting embarrassed coming out in week two but i'm not i i i put the film on it i'm not so sure that firman's defensive line isn't better than georgia tech's defensive line based on the film that i saw and they were playing against better talent so i like tennessee minus 12 and a half here i think it's um i think mendoza his he hurt his ankle in the second quarter of that game he was hobbling around a little bit clearly had fight had leadership character the whole thing when he was playing and what he saw on tape against colorado colorado to your point taylor they were able to run the football i mean nine penalties also you talked about mendoza but five for thirteen on third down if you're brent key you gotta be like what that like no disrespect to colorado but what are we doing against colorado and getting pushed around by colorado tennessee in my opinion is they're a team that's going to be sitting there in the conversation of the sec and in my in my opinion maybe itching for the playoffs like an eight plus win tennessee team dude i love hypo with quarterbacks it does not matter who the quarterback is he's proved it nico had his best year when he was a freshman with hypo at tennessee it was like who is this joey aguilar kid he wasn't a runner whatsoever he balled out and now you got faze on brandon who is a stud he is a dude he had a couple freshman moments to where maybe he missed a receiver or his timing was off or his alignment was off mentally for what the receiver was going to do to where he whips one out of bounds but i like the ability he didn't look like a freshman back there he had a lot of poise and i listen to you say like yeah this veteran offensive line didn't have the best uh game in the trenches but also a part of me as i watch the tape because they run a lot of these 30 backfield looks to where there's three guys in the backfield yeah yeah exactly and there's a lot of moving parts because you have true quarterback design run you have zone reads with sifters and pullers you have rpos off of it you have quarterback draws you have a lot of things that they're trying to do from a schematic standpoint where I just think this veteran group will get going and they will get more comfortable to where there will be more wrinkles and maybe you could break this down on an offensive line standpoint but maybe that puts you on your heels a little bit more because you might not know what the defense is going to give you when they see looks like that like like teams that are now going to be practicing against some of these looks there's a lot of things that you have to do because it's not like a traditional two tight ends on the ball or one tight end off the ball and the gap might change once or the gap might change with pullers it's like yo there are three guys back there to where pullers can happen sifters can happen you can flood a zone one way and also you got to worry about what is my responsibility if it is a zone read or if it is an rpo to where you're a little hesitant especially on the second level to where you might not get back in that window in time because face on brandon is doing a great job of seeing the one key he needs to see to where this is a design run but it's a run pass option I'm going to whip it out to the side with uh with mike matthews and you got a you got a like desmond deshaun bishop in the backfield who had over a thousand last year like to me this offense is going to do nothing but get better and I just think what I saw from georgia tech's defensive line and again the penalties to five for 13 on third down I like tennessee a lot here I like him at 12 minus 12 and a half I like him so much this is my pound the table oh wow you're on five I love tennessee I know freshman quarterback on the road for his first time jesse was in my ear before I started to let a little bit of doubt come in my brain about it but man when I watch this offense I think they're going to do nothing but get better and get more comfortable in all of the scheme that they're doing because they have a lot there and face on brandon he can whip the ball around and he can run we're going to be talking about camario taylor here in a little bit but kind of an iteration of that guy where you can do anything yeah you can do anything he's got he's got freak athletic ability from the offensive lines perspective what you're saying when you have that kind of wing teeth 30 back it can look very confusing for an office alignment because when you condense everything in there we have three backs in the backfield behind the line of scrimmage now you get more linebackers and safety is kind of in the box as well but the simple way to do it is like if you're going to run a zone read or a gap scheme look out of those and then the backfield has their crazy motions and shifts and everything that's going to be much more confusing for the defense it just becomes a number game so if you're the left tackle in the situation you count one two okay I go to three to where you know at this play I'm going to the three spot here so you can count off to where it looks really like there's a congested box but at the end it's all going to kind of open up because you have one back going this way another one going that way facing is not rolling out so you can just count that you know okay I have this guy or the guy that ends up in this spot so you can really simplify with that kind of wing t look as an offensive alignment it's just a matter of the coach going hey don't don't talk about Mike's and Sam's and Will's or Jack's or plugs like you just need to go one two that's my guy right there right you know or you're going to a location like power any kid out there that runs power or wants to run power if you want to close your eyes go to one o'clock and you're going to be correct like it's really just gaps it's so simple when you do the base plays because you can the best thing about Josh Heupel is he runs a thousand different motions he has a thousand different looks but 90 of his plays are so basic it's the window dressing that takes place so it's very easy on the offensive line and it looks very confusing but at the end of the day if you took a snapshot at the end when the ball is snapped it's like okay this is clearly you know what's going to happen it's going to be a you know a West Wing alignment and they're running Duo they're running Zone and that's where especially in college when you have these younger cats you know we're about to talk about BYU in a second some guys are 30 but you get into a position where it's like guys aren't going to be able to differentiate all the American Primeval it's making a comeback into like a year two like a question for you or maybe just an assumption like on the scouting card when you're going against what the defense could potentially do you're seeing all the scouting cards to where they're trying to run it correctly whereas an offensive lineman you might be seeing your second level player who's in the three count who might just make a mistake and they just get a little unsure do I still go this direction do I just pound down here to where you're kind of thinking a little bit to where all the classroom work is like hey if they make that mistake here's where the upside is here's where it's beneficial don't worry about this yeah because I feel like you are going to get a lot of confusion when you are trying to game plan against the 20 and 30 look back field sets that you get against Tennessee yeah and that's where it turns into you go from uh the number count until you go to spots like middle of the field is what you're going to where the mic would usually be you're going to go backside to where the whale would usually be yeah and then that makes it so much easier a lot of offensive line and we can go back to the mission game and talk about it but I won't is you just sometimes you just got to pull the rip cord and realize like you're going to a location and the guy that's in that spot is most likely going to be your guy and if you just simplify the game now you can play a whole lot a hell of a lot faster Tennessee they didn't they didn't play great on the office line they had an inferior opponent so they were very successful but I they have I don't know I don't know if you guys are familiar with this so much talent on that office line other than I you know that right tackle was a little shaky the right thing he moved in the guard but that's how I feel I like I like 12 and a half and I like buying Wilcox and Sokolow now when we started the show when we talk about the pessimist versus the optimist I was kind of on the pessimist side like I don't know what I was gonna do but now that we're in the trenches together I love Tennessee yeah I'm at three I'm at three on that one does uh going to Michigan's office do you guys have a lot of veterans on your offensive line we have a lot of guys with uh starts yes okay yes I was trying to bait you into breaking down I can I can't I was gonna year olds playing for BYU let's just go down to Arizona let's go down to Arizona by BYU they're playing in Provo uh BYU is favored by seven and a half here the over under on this game is 47 and a half points mm-hmm who's got a great feel for this game so because I don't you don't what's it with the line chain no it's seven and a half still seven and a half so last year this game goes into double overtime correct Arizona's winning this game by about 10 points and then Bachmeier and what was it was working by Martin the L LJ Martin LJ attack with LJ rushing attack company they end up coming back they went they went in double overtime um listen BYU the their whole game plan is establishing establishing the run game they've been very successful at it Bachmeier last year as a freshman did a great job rocking the 47. you know that's up for interpretation whether you like that or not but Fafita I love the storyline of this kid Noah Fafita is a grown-ass man freshman year he's got TMAC so that's it that's a great outlet for you to have as a freshman you know you have a top 10 pick in the NFL draft at the wide receiver position for you that you can just feed to over and over again sophomore year hits it's his first year with Brennan and you see his success they had was on the defensive side of the ball go into his junior year and has what over 30 touchdowns and single digits and interceptions the kid has had growth and because of that sophomore slump I love where he's at now he's got two receivers or he's lost three receivers he's got two in Richardson and Spivey that are both different one little smaller quicker guy and then Richardson who's a little bit big I think Richardson's the smaller one Spivey's the big one 50 balls everything they run in Arizona is at 11 personnel it's RPO all the way this game I think is going to come down to who the defensive coordinator is at BYU Papinga it's his first year as a DC and if you remember before Jay Hill got to BYU a lot of fans a lot of boosters were kind of calling for Kalani shiitake's head saying they can't get it done especially in the defensive side of the ball this is kind of big 12 football Jay Hill comes in their defense is top 20 in college football and kind of all that dust settles so much so that crumble cookie comes in and saves him from going to Penn State I like both these teams scoring a lot of points um I like BYU's offensive line and establishing the run but on the other side of it I love Fafita and his ability to push the ball down the field make their decisions and use his legs when he needs to so I'm going to take the over in this game what are the uh 49 and a half nope that's Arizona they're 47 and a half you know what I'm not going to take the over I'm going to take Arizona plus seven and a half I'm going to take Arizona plus I think this game is a lot closer than people think I think the Arizona have the ability to score a lot of points they have a great safety uh at BYU but I like uh I like Arizona plus seven and a half I'll go three on that oh okay you want to know where I'm at I would love I woke up this morning and I thought what am I gonna eat for breakfast where's Willie on this Brigham Young game not in that order not even in that order yeah obviously BYU's rushing front seven I do like what Arizona has defensively and then it's going to be Fafita against this BYU secondary uh them going into Provo I here here's where my pick comes in because what I'm doing here is I'm I'm going I like this confidence of BYU winning the game I like the confidence of BYU covering but my confidence isn't all the way there so I'm going to go two unit confidence level but I'm also going to buy a point I'm going BYU minus six and a half because BYU last year haunted my season I think I bet it against them damn near every week thinking that they wouldn't get it done and they did they beat my ass last week and Arizona hasn't won in Provo since 1975. BYU has an eight game home winning streak against Arizona so I like I like BYU here but I am going to buy a point hedge a little bit get that six and a half because I hate the I hate this seven and a half you see BYU winning again winning uh by seven I would I'd be running through my TV so I'm gonna buy a point here and go minus six and a half BYU is that legal it's a unit that is legal you can put whatever unit you want it's my units you go from you go yeah so when i was looking at it last night it went from 110 and if you if you buy a point to go minus six and a half it'll be for the viewers out there it'll be minus uh minus 148 all right because it's a unit we're going units just unlock something for you josh this doesn't feel like this doesn't feel like a josh move to do that it kind of unlocks something for him right there look at his brain ticking where you at it is weird to see that point spread that low isn't it i don't think so what are you about to do alt line no i'm you and i just just simply should have bought a point just one point you remember when brigham young went to texas tech last year it was the biggest game in the big 12 all year and there was a lot of build up and it ended up being texas tech kind of pulling away in the game because over four quarters byu couldn't stand up to it but nobody in that league could i can't help but think this ends up being how that game feels and i feel like it's the kind of game where fafita thinks he's got to do a little bit too much and if he you know if he hits great they'll win the game it'll be an upset but commodities about brigham young that you know that you trust like you said they've all been there a long time it's a good point about the dc churn and i can't know about that until i know that's why i'm not going to go under but i do think brigham young um does enough here offensively and i think they force enough mistakes to where they actually win and cover it's two units for me not a ton of confidence but i will lay the seven and a half bravely so get you a point no i want so not a tough can i saw you at all and that the dc gonzalez for arizona their defense last year was number one in opposing quarterback rating and the big 12 that is a good point does that sway you even a little bit because it's always like what he's shown there is he knows how to game plan against byu like byu is the better team they have more talent fafita and then a couple of wide receivers that may or may not be great players but it's the losing the dc you're replacing jack kelly who had 10 sacks last year so you need to find your pass rusher you have a great safety you had a phenomenal freshman year but it's like who is i guess who's going to take over that defense because jack kelly was that guy he was the heart and soul now he's kind of he's gone now yeah and so that's where i kind of sit i'm like seven and a half feels like too many points for me if it was at six and a half i'd probably lean the other way as well but seven and a half arizona they seem to play them well veteran quarterback a dc that has played them well before and a dc on the other side of byu who is an unproven guy when that was the strength of their team last year unproven but also i can give any pushback and remind me remind me his last name papinga papinga who's working the phones and didn't really lose anybody in the transfer portal like you bring back six all conference guys you get a couple transferred over like kept the continuity together to where the guys in the building must believe in the cat yeah like yes unproven on paper it's his first year and everything else but there to me there's there's there's something to that continuity in that culture that byu has built uh to where i i am still bullish on them defensively because they got a team in the country last year so i can't sway i'm not swayed only because i think if you walk into that kind of dynamic it's not you bringing your defense into brigham young that all them need to learn like they're all pretty much still there it's probably and i don't know this i'm not that close to that program but it's probably more you're coming here to run our defense it's probably the dynamic and i still like that doesn't change my mind on the idea that i think they'll force enough mistakes like i think that's where some production comes i think that's where some plus field position comes uh more so than just i think their offense is going to go up and down the field sounds like both of y'all are on like a brigham young seven point win by the way well i'm right there yeah i'm right there my computer tells me that it's right where it's at and i'm on my model i'm like i'm like 10 to 13 point that's where i am louis lock's model has it at seven and your boy they're gonna play some smart football whether you wait for him to make a mistake because again you got to check their birth certificate right you get a lot of 30 year olds playing for byu a lot of 30 year olds ton of them guys my age out there where we scc versus big 10 do you have some before we go there no go ahead uh here we go scc versus big 10 we got another matchup taking place up in minnesota mississippi travels up to minnesota the line on this game is essentially a pick them right now my card is reading just 0.5 it doesn't matter this is a money line game it's it's minnesota favored or mississippi state favored by one and a half the over under on this game is 55 and a half points yeah can i just read you these are players of note for minnesota drake lindsey your quarterback good player darius taylor is their running back everything kind of goes through them javon tracy great returner and great wide receiver he set a record in the big 10 uh just last week on defense anthony smith number zero and then bush uh tj bush a transfer from cal those are the notable players that you need to watch out for in this game this is the one from mississippi state camario taylor oh but he is no that's the one that he is him the kid is incredible like you i don't want to take your joke so i won't but this guy is extremely accurate down the field he there was multiple times that the offensive line broke he's he's in a pinch all of a sudden guys are dragging on his legs he gets away still able to run the ball down the field for 30 40 yards or throw a dime to somebody he is one of the most confident quarterbacks i've ever watched play college football this kid truly believes in himself and from a quarterback standpoint the number one thing you need is to have the confidence in yourself to the lip of the ball now they played ul monroe who's not a great football team he their offensive line did get you know didn't get a lot of push the defensive line on um mississippi state i thought monroe did a great job of getting winning the line of scrimmage in that situation and camario taylor as talented as he is throwing the ball down the field there's a couple he get where he just you know back kind of loops out he throws it puts a muffin at his feet five yard in feet are planted everything looks good and then all of a sudden it's in the dirt or it's a little bit wide ball gets tipped but monroe's defense they just can't figure out a way to get the ball i think if you play against better talent which they are this week they are he's going to give up the ball a few times i think minnesota is as much as they kind of lack the talent in the bay 10 to compete at a you know college football playoff national championship level pj fleck always has those guys in the right spots at all time drake lindsey was 6-4-2-35 and he can throw an absolute rope taylor in the backfield the whole the whole game plan is how do we get him the ball out of our opening plays if we have 15 opening plays we would love to give him the ball 11 times you saw in the first couple of drives of the game they want to establish the run i think their offensive line is pretty good i know they're somewhat inexperienced but on the defensive side of the ball everyone is in the right space uh right place at all times defense line can rush they played east illinois last week there's not a whole lot to go off of that except for there was one drive east illinois had to score a touchdown their success came from misdirection where the offensive line the quarterback would go this way ball would go out to the flat the other way and they would gain 15 20 yards that became east illinois game plan and after that drive every time they try to try that after that minnesota was on top of it in the right spot so that tells me that this team makes great on the sideline they make changes on the sideline quickly and efficiently so i like minnesota here i like i'll take the points i mean if you want to give them to me i'll take them i'll take plus one one and a half and i'll put four on this i like minnesota do you like minnesota you're very confident i feel really good about minnesota in this game at home just outside of dinkytown i gotcha my confidence is low i'm one unit on this sec versus big ten penalized versus unpenalized electric factory versus a true pro this is essentially dallas carter versus permian if you really think about it um i like the under i like the under this week of 55 and a half i'm only going to place one unit on it because i'm just not the most confident i am obsessed with camario taylor like this dude can run like a deer he's got a piss missile for an arm if every play was designed over 20 yards he's hitting it because you get him out of the backfield you get him underneath he's still got that piss missile of an arm going out of towards like hey buddy you can dial it in just hit my man in the flat right but my confidence here is out of one both offenses put up a lot of points last week and the freak that camario taylor is i can see everybody salivating on the over i'm just gonna i'm just gonna go under because i think they're going to play they're going against a good football team i don't know who's going to win clearly um but they're uh minnesota is a lot more efficient offensively they're a lot more fundamentally sound defensively i think they're going to slow the game down a little bit and again if you have a couple turnovers to where it's just Camario kind of running around and making plays happen. I just see this being not a low-scoring game, like getting up close to that 55-and-a-half mark, but I like the under. I like the under this week. One unit, one simple, one simple unit. Tiny little unit. Just a little teeny unit. Just a little teeny tiny unit. I know a guy who roots for Mississippi State. He's in sports media, college football media. And I told him Monday at 8.22 a.m., if you're smart, your brand this week is Camario Taylor versus the Big Ten. And he said, he texted me back something doubtful. I don't want to use his exact words. Right, right, right, right. And I said, you're going to win this week. And he said, I've been a fan of this team for a long time. And I said, yeah, but they put me in their hype video. And he didn't respond back. Not important. It's my most confident game on the board all week. I'm going to slap the table on it. Mississippi State will go up there and they'll win by a touchdown or more. Wow. Yeah, feel really good about it. Feel really good about it. I think they'll come out of this week massively overhyped. But that's something that we can deal with in week three. Right, we'll temper those expectations after. What time is this kickoff? Do you know, Klump? 2.30. Okay. They definitely started to this week because that viral clip of him essentially being flat-footed, shoulder-squared, roping at 60 yards down the field. Yeah, they set a school record. Like, by over 100 yards of what the previous record was of total offense. Yeah. Like, it is. And what is he, 6'4", 230? Yeah, the kid is fucking fast, bro. Yes, I agree. The only thing I have hesitation in is the short-yard throws that are just total gimmies that he just kind of puts in the dirt every once in a while from an accuracy standpoint. Like, the overconfidence sometimes. First play of the game, they roll out. He tries to throw a vert, and there is an underneath route about 20, 25, that is wide open that will be massively explosive, and he doesn't take it because he wants. He wants what we're talking about. It's how athletic he is, how he's not afraid of anything. He can throw a rope from a flat-footed, all the things. And he can do all those things. I'm banking on Minnesota slowing this game down, about the defensive line having a good pass rush. Just playing a smart football team. Just a smart, gritty, salty football team. Like, slow it down. You're going over a high-tempo offense versus an offense that wants to control it. They want to control the clock. They want to sit there. And you're playing up in Minnesota. They're going to lean on you. I'm just not strong on their defensive line at Mississippi State. They didn't feel to me like they were really answering the physicality of UL Monroe. - Yeah. And to your point, too, people who are tuned in that could be casuals, you start to hear Kamario Taylor's name, buy the stock in Kamario Taylor. But I also can't quit buying the stock in the Fleck Bank, because they're going up to Minnesota. You got old P.J. Fleck up there. - They're not going to make a mistake. - Not a single one. Josh, we're on the show, so I'm not going to say how are your crimson tie going to do in Kentucky, but right now, Bama favored, double digits on the road, minus 10 and a half at Kentucky. The over-under on this game is 49 and a half. Oh. We have some paper popper stats, and hopefully it's about Alabama performing on the road under DeBoer. It is how they perform on the road under Kalen DeBoer. Kalen DeBoer is a ranked favorite on the road, seven and five, straight up, four and eight against the spread. This is Delaney Walker stats. He's catching Kentucky in week two. So even if Kentucky's going to be bad this year, they don't know that. They're healthy. They're at home. It's really the first, it's kind of like the premiere. Last week was the dress rehearsal against the Penguins of Youngstown State. This is the season debut to the world of Will Stein as a head coach. So you've got two new quarterbacks in this game. Keelan Russell's making his first meaningful start. So is Kenny Menchie. I'm looking forward to seeing how Menchie performs. Keelan Russell wants all things break down for him. He can bail himself out with his legs. I don't think that's Kenny Menchie's game per se. Bama last week, it was a big final score against East Carolina. Looked good. The box score looks good. If you watch the game, which I did in your hotel room without you there, and I appreciate that. Yes, sir. No context needed. Absolutely no context needed. Operationally, it was unsafe. Sound, which is not the first time you said that about a team with a first time starter at quarterback. But I was just, there was a lot of stuff that you don't have to pay the price for last week that if you duplicate it on the road against Kentucky, you would have to pay the price for like Ryan Williams dropping balls. No one cares because you won the game and he still had over a hundred, but you do that this week. You probably do pay for it. I do think that defensively you had to love what you saw from Bama last week. And that was really more so than the quarterback position. What I was watching all throughout fall camp and to start the year, because that was the area last year you could get them a little bit, especially short yardage. They were like 15th of 16 in terms of total size. I think I said that last week up front. So they've greatly upgraded there. They're much deeper personnel wise there right now. So when they go on the road this week, everyone will, similarly to what we talked about with other teams, they'll be watching the quarterback position. To me, I'm just as much watching EJ Crowell at tailback, who's probably their best, even though he's a true friend. That's still very much a work in progress. I'm watching Keelan Russell, some of his escapability and some plays that broke down last week against inferior athletes. Is he still upright against a legitimate SEC team on the road? Remains to be seen. I do think if the Kentucky run game is not there, I don't know that they have the skill at wide receiver against Bama secondary to really take advantage. I don't think they have game changers at wide receiver. I think Alabama does have that ability. I have not gotten to where I can trust them on the road under DeBoer in this spot though. So as far as the spread goes, I'm taking Kentucky plus 10 and a half. It is a one unit bet for me. Another low confidence game. I think the number is almost dead on the money right. So I think it's like Tennessee. I think Tennessee will win on the road, but not cover. I think Bama will win on the road, but not cover. So you're really betting one game this week? You got one game that you feel the most confident about, and that's Mississippi State. My entire life is in the hands of Kamario Taylor. Yeah. It was DJ Lagway. Kamario Taylor, this is a reputation game. It was a DJ Lagway. Sure was. Kamario Taylor is a reputation game for you. DJ came through for me. Well, he did. And I thought to myself, surely he's not going anywhere. No, what happened is you told me during the break, but the people were talking in my ear. And so all I saw was, I had no idea it was coming, but I am taking Kentucky plus the points. One unit. You're like, paper popper. I got a paper popper set. Go ahead. I hate this. I hate this line. Oh, wow. That's my paper popper set. Does it say that on the paper right there? Yeah. That is great. At the very top. Hate this line. Yeah, it does. I did enjoy seeing Alabama try to run the football. I feel like it was more by design from old coach Grubb. They did not do a very good job of it. Again, I almost said Kamario Taylor, but Russell, Keelan Russell, having over 80 yards like on the ground, then you want to go back and look at the tape and it's all scramble drill. Like the dude is a freak athlete as well. Similar to the Kamario Taylor phase on Brandon. Yeah, I don't like this line. I'm just going to tail Josh with one unit. And that's strictly just for the camera. Just going to tail Josh Pate with one unit. Part of me wanted to go over in this game, but yeah, like I like Minchie and Stein. I like that pairing. I will go on record and say I like Minchie. Wow. But against the secondary, against O'Hubbard in the secondary, if they show up, if Alabama is not able to run the football that well, that's clearly an under vibe for me. I like both offense. As being able to move the ball, that would be an over. Again, I hate everything about this line. I'm leaning on DeBoer and Bama traveling on the road as a double digit favorite. And the stat four and eight, you know, against the spread. I'm just going to go ahead and take Kentucky one unit plus ten and a half. Wow. Because and also it's like, to your point, Kentucky's kind of juiced right now just internally with momentum that they could have going because they don't know if they're bad or not. They don't know if they're good or not. You know, they got this breath of fresh air. With Coach Will Stein, who does have the confidence in the media, who's got those guys believing, who we've been to. We've been to the program out at Oregon when he's there, where he's got everybody kind of dialed in and talking ball with him to where they're all going to know what to do. They're going to know how to win this game. It is going to be against a great secondary against Bama. So I'm just going to go Kentucky plus ten and a half, one unit. Yeah, I think that's great. I like Stein. I think he's an incredible, was an incredible offensive coordinator at Oregon. He's had multiple quarterbacks that are in the NFL or going to the NFL. I think the thing he does incredibly well is having his quarterback see the entire field and make very good decisions and don't put themselves in positions to give up the football. Like he does a great job of painting a picture. These are how these defenses look, but you have a great, you have a great secondary in Alabama. They came in and you know, the head coach is an offensive guy and you can see it the way they spent their money in the transfer portal, like they, they juiced their offensive line. They have a bunch of. What they tried to get a bunch of weapons. Some guys that had great first years got, get hurt and then come in. But still, you've seen a little bit on film of like, Oh, this guy had 800 yards receiving. This guy's a five-star this freshmen's pretty good. I love the balance of Kentucky, uh, from an, uh, from a run and pass standpoint. I can see the, the secondary being an issue, but I think they'll make up for that in the run game. But I also love Keelan Russell and his ability to scramble. I don't think the run game I like I'll be. Proven wrong. If they ever do that, the run game has gotten better. Cause it really is all scramble drill and an elite athlete getting away from inferior opponents. Uh, Ryan Williams, other than that, it's like, who else is going to show up when your number one wide receiver does have like this type of issue, like the big news coming out of Tuscaloosa this week is that he's not going to be wearing gloves during the game and that's going to fix everything the offensive line for Alabama does make me worried. I think they have like a, what they have a freshman at left tackle, two soft mores that have little to no starting experience. And then their center is a transfer from Cal Poly. Like, so they have not a lot of continuity, not a lot of guys that have experienced at sec games, and I think they could work against them. But as much as it'll work against them, Keelan Russell's athletic ability will keep the chains moving. I like the over in this game. I like both teams scoring a lot of points. It's a 49 and a half right now. I'm gonna put three units on it. Um, but I'm excited about Will Stein in Kentucky, if I had to pick one of the I think Alabama walks away with this win. And we just still have question marks on both sides. sides like can Alabama still run the ball is Kentucky good are they kind of middle of the pack what are they going to be I don't think any questions truly get answered at the end of this game but I think it'll be exciting for a lot of fans to watch so I like I like the over I could get with that I like that I had it I had it on there but I just like you know what I don't have the best feel hmm it meant she did I think she's kind of nice and if he is that's plus 10 and a half will be there yeah it'll be there for us one unit sitting right there for the taking yeah absolutely we got great gravely game of the week yep gravely game of the week Texas Ohio State Ohio State traveling to Austin I said it last week on the show Steve Sarkeesian you zoom out and look at this entire season he could be somebody potentially entering the A-gap this is a huge game and we are blessed to get to see a game like this still during this era of college football with Ohio State going down to Austin Texas because in a lot of pockets of college football these are both the best of the best in each conference especially talent wise like you still have the question mark like what's Ohio State's offensive line going to be but this is a huge game that had implications last year that Stark is up on the in front of the press saying that you take this game out of it or we come out on top of this game that decided the playoff spot right for Texas and to mention the fact that they win the box score again against Ohio State last year in week one but they just didn't win the actual game I think they had over 100 more total yards on offense this game is I think it's perfect the line is perfect where it's like you go with your heart you go with your belief because both teams are extremely talented and all the question marks that you may have had about them seems like they've answered we talked about Texas their biggest issue last year was running the football last year they had 12 rushes for over 20 yards in the totality of the season as a team and Hollywood Smothers did that by himself last year and the totality of the season as a team and Hollywood Smothers did that by himself last year so they they've answered that they got Relique Brown who also rushed for a thousand yards they had they brought in a tackle from Wake Forest a lot of different transfer guys in the middle and then they have Goosby on the left at the left tackle position you turn on the film in week one it's against nobodies but the the offensive line looks like they're moving as a cohesive unit as opposed to five guys working individually which is a good sign when you're worried about the run game three wide receivers that are could be wide receiver ones anywhere else Arch Manning after the third quarter of Mississippi State has turned into the Manning we believe he could be but then you flip to the other side and it's like oh Ohio State has a bunch of draft picks on the defensive side of the ball what's gonna what's gonna happen there well Matt Patricia has already proven to us that he can do that because he had the number one defense in the country last year and Arvell Reese we didn't even know what that name was at this point in the season Julian Sane the biggest knock on him is that when pressure starts to come he doesn't do a good job with the football well we saw one play last week where he's getting hit as he's throwing a deep uh double move and then he's going to do uh Jeremiah Smith and that ball is placed perfectly so you look at everything and it's like yeah both these teams seem to have answered their questions where Eileen is Eileen the a-gap Eileen with uh Stark and Muschamp knowing that his special his specialty is getting quarterbacks uncomfortable which would work in favor against what the knock has been on Julian Sane even though he's beefed up a little bit I like Texas at a minus one and a half here it's at home they have to travel I think both teams could walk out of here with a win clearly the line says the same thing but at the end of the day it's like I'm just gonna go with the home team I think Arch has a get back game here and um they cover I'll put three units on that you have a good feel not really I'm gonna go two units on Texas minus the points but do you feel like we're kind of trying to will Texas into one of these big wins finally yeah absolutely I could see that but it's like I mean we talked about the wounded animal Theory in the beginning of the show like Sark is every bit of that yeah he's he might not know it yet like it's like when you see a deer get hit and they kind of run off like they know something bad happened but they don't know you know how bad the damage actually is this is one of those games sarcastic has to win if this a-gap is going to kind of start to get a little bit more quiet because you talked about the egos of Texas the cowboy hats the pageantry you know Bebo like this school has is a blue chip school that demands national championships and he has the roster they have the boosters money in it so I think in a lot of ways yes because on the other side you look at Ohio State it's like oh they've won a national championship the biggest knock on them is they haven't won a big 10 championship in a few years but they still are playing for national championship they're in semi-finals every single year like Ryan Day is sitting pretty on his side of the fence and it's like we're kind of looking at Sark like bro we're rooting for you here we kind of need you to get this done that's how I feel in order for the SEC to have serious relevance and if the SEC does win this game it's like after week one everyone's going to overreact but we would also say Ohio State's now you're clear number one based on what's taking place in week one so I agree with everything you just said I still think it's out there for Sark like I keep waiting for it I I do think last last week granted it's they didn't run Arch at all last week his mobility will be part of their game plan this week they had maybe this is a paper popper I don't know they had a tackle at or behind the line of scrimmage 11 times for Tyler Horka that's Texas's offense getting met at or behind the line of scrimmage could be an Aborition could be something that pops up early against Ohio State and they look like they're in quicksand and they can't get started at all so I'm keeping an eye on that I I really think both defenses have a net advantage against these offensive lines until proven otherwise which just leads me to think is this the kind of game where things look kind of discombobulated there's not a whole lot of rhythm and boom Jeremiah Smith for 70. or boom Ryan Wingo Cam Coleman for 65. because it doesn't feel like the kind of game where either offense is just consistently moving the ball it feels like pick your spots take your shot kind of game and I also think back to the last couple of years like I can picture Ohio State watching what Georgia's been able to do to Texas the last three times they played them and saying we can do that not to mention we did it to him last year in Columbus but I also picture Texas watching what Ohio or watching what Miami did to Ohio State in the playoffs and saying wait a minute like we got Colin Simmons here so we could get after them plus we're gonna have home crowd advantage at our back so we could disrupt every bit as much if there's any doubt about Julian saying and how he handles pressure we can put it on him and so I think it's just like it's it's it's irresistible for us it's a movable object at least in your mind it is if you're either one of these teams to me it's as simple as if I think all things else are pretty evenly matched I'll just ride home field and so go Texas minus one and a half it's two units for me can't wait to watch it yeah I feel the same way I think at the end of the day both these teams are very equal and look great against each other on paper and that's where home field is the thing that just moves me to the side of Texas I think Texas needs to win it Ohio State would love to win this thing I think Texas needs to win this game I think they feel that expectation going into it all of the pressure even coming off the loss last year being a three-loss team trying to argue your way into the playoffs the potential a gap that Sark could be going in everybody in Texas is going to feel this moment this Saturday and I think they're ready for the moment come Saturday where I'm kicking myself and kicking us three is I'm aligned oh no on Texas you need to go hostage no no I I I can't do matter of fact I have a text I'm not gonna say if it was from Arthur Smith or not but if you Taylor he says in Delaney but I guess he doesn't watch the show but if you Taylor and Delaney pick Texas on your show you all be known as Judas to me and dude yesterday this is one of those games too where I wake up each morning and I'm kind of different on this game where yesterday I felt like I felt confident about Ohio State today I'm where I'm kicking myself is that this is a game where you pick Ohio State because it's like until it happens with Texas you have to show me that this is going to happen at Texas whereas we're all three rooting for this to happen this weekend I just think Arch Manning, he is ready for this moment, especially when you look at how he finished last year. All the, just all of the noise that's been around this kid.
