The Ilhan Omar Web of Lies, and Her Shock "Not To My Knowledge" Answer About Marrying Her Brother, with Viva Frei | 1424

Ilan Omar has been at the center of a major federal investigation into immigration fraud and financial misconduct. Evidence from multiple journalists—Preya Samson-Dar, Scott Johnson, and David Steinberg—shows that Omar married Ahmed Neur Sayed Elmi, who is her biological brother. This relationship, not publicly disclosed for years, was central to her attempt to secure a green card for him, which triggered immigration violations. The case is further complicated by her repeated denial of the sibling connection, using phrases like “not to my knowledge,” which legal experts interpret as an attempt to avoid criminal liability. Social media posts from 2012 to 2016 show Omar and Elmi interacting, with Omar liking posts celebrating Elmi’s nieces—Leila’s twin daughters—confirming their familial bond. Even more damning, the Department of Justice has formally revealed Omar’s real name, Ilan Nursaid Elmi, and filed a court motion linking her to the fraud. During her recent appearance on MSNBC with Chris Hayes, she evaded direct questions, responded with emotional defensiveness, and avoided addressing the core allegations. Her statements during prior media interviews are seen as inconsistent and deceptive, particularly when she dismissed claims of being related to her husband as “absurd.” Critics argue that the investigation is not just about immigration fraud but also financial misconduct, including a reported spike in business valuation from $30 million to zero, which raises red flags about asset manipulation. The DOJ’s actions, including a search warrant and seizure of personal items, signal serious intent. Despite claims of innocence, her body language and responses during interviews—especially the upward inflection when denying relationships—have been flagged by experts as signs of deception. The case remains under active scrutiny, with mounting evidence suggesting systemic deception and potential criminal liability.
Welcome to the Megan Kelley show live on Sirius XM channel 111 every week day at Neast. Hey everyone, I'm Megan Kelley, welcome to the Megan Kelley show. Oh my gosh, we have a lot to talk about. Ilan Omar went on with Chris Hayes on MS now last night and what a debacle. Holy cow, the principal question, or at least one of the very principal questions in the case, was posed to her messily, pathetically, poorly by Chris Hayes in his level best effort to diminish the whole story. And she couldn't answer it with a straight answer. It's unbelievable. He did ask her about her breastband, one of the long standing allegations that she married her biological brother who'd been living in the UK in attempt to get him a green card. This is his same guy who did get married to her, got a temporary green card and then decided to apply for a permanent green card. And when immigration authorities started asking questions about his marriage to what they believed was a US citizen, Ilan Omar, he withdrew the application. That same guy, Chris Hayes did his level best to give her a complete pass on it, but clearly he knew he would be an absolute laughing stock. If he didn't raise it, it was truly the only substantive exchange of the entire half an hour interview. He completely fell down on the job. That's another thing which I'll get to in a second. But here in his one meager pathetic attempt at journalism, he raises the issue of the breastband and she completely whiffed it, watched this. He had to have been my brother or something to that effect and white wing conspiracy theorists in Minneapolis got a hold of it and they just kind of went and found random people who were like, she introduced us. She introduced him to us and said he was her brother, which is insane, I don't know those people that they talk about. You were not related to him at all. There's not a weird kernel of truth that shoots some game and that was the big gotcha. In terms of what you're talking about promising, we're going to nail her on the marriage. That was the source of the immigration fraud. That no longer seems to be the issue that they are putatively investigated, right? Unbelievable, unbelievable, not to my knowledge. That's unbelievable. I mean, that's literally unbelievable. It was a reason she phrased it that way she is trying to avoid criminal liability. That's why she said that knowing is an element of the crime that she's potentially looking at there. Statute limitations are not to prove that she knew he was her relative would be an element of the crime and she's clearly told the federal investigators that she, it's not to her knowledge that she married her brother, which is her only escape because she very much did according to all of the evidence that has been assembled by very strong reporters like Scott Johnson of Powerline and our friend from Alfa News the other day, like the evidence appears overwhelming that she married her brother. And now when the cameras are on her, that's the best she can come up with. And the reason she had to wiggle, as opposed to just say no, is because of criminal liability, is the law. Before she was facing federal raids and a potential arrest and her sister's phone and her phone being in the hands of the DOJ, she was giving different answers. She was more explicit clearly between just a month ago and now she's been briefed by a legal team on her exposure because Lindell, you know, Mike Lindell of my pillow fame. He has his little like TV outlet and he has reporters who go to Capitol Hill and ask questions and so on. And one of them asked Ilan Omar last month, September of 2026, if she married her brother and listened to what she said. >> Can you just tell us straight up, did you marry your brother? >> Absolutely not. What a ridiculous thing to ask. >> What are you doing? >> Are you married your brother? >> Absolutely not. >> Absolutely not. That's disgusting. >> Nobody should be doing that. >> Why are you being criminally investigating? >> I am not. >> Yes, you are. >> I am not. >> Well then Tom Homan's a liar or what? >> He is. >> He is. >> He is saying some dumb shit. >> Like you. >> Oh. >> Thank you, Congresswoman. >> Good job to that reporter and to Lindell TV. Absolutely not. That's disgusting. That is what we call in the deception, detection, business, a convincing statement. And it's problematic and it's a tell that you're a liar. Ask Phil Houston. You guys know. He and I go way back. We've had him on the show many times. He's the human lie detector CIA 25 years discovering double agents working against the United States for half of it and discovering double agents within the CIA at Langley for the other half. He wrote the books by the lie, have taken his class many times. One of the main indicators of deception is convincing statements. Megan Kelly, did you marry your brother? No. No. I married Doug Brunt, no relation. Seriously think about it you guys. Would you then feel the need to ask that's disgusting in the high inflection? Would you feel the need to convince someone that it's disgusting to marry your sibling? You would not. You would say no. Nope. Watch. Watch it again. Can you just tell us straight up. Did you marry your brother? Absolutely not. Well, then why are you marrying your brother? Absolutely not. Absolutely not. That's disgusting. And nobody should be doing that. Why are you being criminally investigating? I am not. Yes you are. I am not. Well, then Tom Homan's a liar. Why? He is. He is saying some dumb shit. Like you. Thank you, Congressman. Okay. So that's disgusting. Nobody should be doing that. Again, it's a convincing statement. And then the third indicator of deception there is he's a dumb bitch like you. Attacking aggression against the questioner and attacking the question and the questioner. These are classic signs of deception. Trust me. I know Phil Houston very well. I know his course material very well. I've sat for hours, I mean, almost 20 hours in his classes. It's called the cluster. The signs of deception have to happen within the first five seconds of when the question was asked. And they did the high pitched inflection, the that's disgusting, a convincing statement. He should be doing that, a convincing statement and attacking the questioner and the question. He's a dumb shit like you. Okay, this is classic. Lying. That's what we just saw there. And now listen to her in the Chris Hayes interview where she's clearly been briefed by lawyers. Watch. There are right-wing people who believe that this man was your brother. You have called her disgusting a lot. Who was this man that was your husband, when did they start saying that he was your brother? Why? I started with the Somali blog that I don't know if it still exists, but somebody put in there that, you know, that he had to have been my brother or something to that effect and White Wings conspiracy theorists in Minneapolis got a hold of it and they just kind of went [BLANK_AUDIO]
found random people who were like, she introduced us, you know, she introduced him to us and said he was her brother, which is, you know, insane. I mean, I don't, I don't know those people that they talk about. She was not, you were not related to him at all. Not that, not that. There's not, there's not really a kernel of truth that she's some demon. Not for my knowledge. So it is a felony to lie to federal investigators. And she clearly told them that it's, she didn't marry her brother to her knowledge. And she's trying not to tell a new lie because if you lie to federal investigators, it's a felony. She's trying not to do that because she doesn't want to rejigger the five-year statute of limitations on, on perjury, online to federal investigators, which they've gotten, you know, that's what they got Mike Flynn on. So she's got to stick with that new story, not to my knowledge, when she's sitting across from MSNBC's Chris Hayes. It's as plain as the nose on your face. It is a very obvious lie. I'm going to get to Chris Hayes in a minute. I don't want to forget. I'm making a note to come back to him. There's a reason we included his non-follow-up in the exchange that we just showed you. Okay, back to him in a second, but this, let's stay over the target. Ilan Omar did marry her brother. She did. And there is overwhelming evidence of this. Okay. First, let me refer you back to our guest, Preya Samson-Dar, formerly of Alpha News, who was just on the program the other day. She was here on Tuesday. She's one of the three reporters who's been owning the Omar story for the past 10 years, 10 years. Okay. Scott Johnson is the other one and David Steinberg of Powerline, the, the latter chair with Powerline for the past 10 years. So these are the people who know more about this than anyone. And Preya told us, remember on Tuesday, when she was with Alpha News in 2016, she discovered the brother, the brothers, resume online. And she tracked him down via email and asked him about his marriage to his sister, Ilan Omar. And his response on the record in an email was, she reported, quote, no way am I affiliated with anyone in your articles, nor do I recall being married to anyone, at least from what I remember. What? Nor do I recall being married to anyone, at least from what I remember. This is the man she's corresponding with who was married to Ilan Omar. His name is Ahmed. It's got, it's a long name, Ahmed Neur Sayed Elmi. That's the man who was her Brisbane. And that's the man saying in an email, no way am I affiliated with anyone in your articles, nor do I recall being married to anyone, at least from what I remember. Now there is no dispute that the name of Ilan Omar's second husband, she married Hercy in a Muslim ceremony, but not a legal one. So that marriage was not legal years and years ago. Then two years later, or some years later, a few years later, she married a man named Ahmed Neur Sayed Elmi. There's no question about that. That's who she married, a man named Ahmed Neur Sayed Elmi in 2009. And in 2011, she was claiming their marriage, their abandonment or they weren't together or something like that. And she got back together with Elmi. And they wound up filing joint tax returns together, even though she was legally married to Ahmed Neur Sayed Elmi still when she did that, which caused some legal problems for her later. Then finally, she got a proper divorce from Elmi in 2017. And it is Elmi who then got his temporary green card when he married her and then sought a more permanent one and then withdrew the papers. The request, when the immigration authority started asking questions about that marriage. So the real question is, is not that was she married to Ahmed Neur Sayed Elmi? She was. The only question is, was that her brother? Okay, that's not to her knowledge. Well, there is a lot of proof that that man she married was indeed her brother. Thanks to those three reporters that I just told you about. Here is one. And this is a lot of Preya's reporting. There is one Instagram screenshot saved by Powerline. Okay, so this is actually not Preya's Powerline is the other two Steinberg and Johnson showing that one day after Ilan Omar's daughter was born in 2012, he Ahmed Elmi posted a picture to his Instagram account of him holding a baby with the caption nieces. This is his caption. No shit, quote, fresh out of the vagina. And there he is holding a little baby. And we are told by the reporting on Powerline that Ilan Omar liked the post. Okay, this is 2012. Keep in mind, she's not yet a public figure. She hasn't even yet run for Minnesota State House representative. So they're being a lot bolder with their social media. That's him. One day after her daughter was born in 2012. And she's married to him at this point. But he posted a picture to his Instagram saying nieces, fresh out of the vagina. And she reportedly liked it. Let's fast forward to four years later. August of 2016. This is Preya's reporting from when she was with alpha news. She found an Instagram post again by Ahmed calling two young twin girls with a backpack from a primary school in Camden, England, his nieces. Ilan's Instagram account loved the post. Okay, so Ilan Omar loved this post. Again, they are still married at this point. And the twin girls who he's celebrating here are indeed his nieces. They're not Ilan's children. They're not Sarah's children, which is another sister of theirs who came with Ilan to the United States in 1995. They are Leila Neurocyde El-Mese children. Leila is their biggest, their, their eldest sister. She has twin daughters. So Ahmed called these two twin girls his nieces in a 2016 post. So he is saying that Ilan's daughter is his niece and Leila's twin daughters are his nieces. And that is true because he is the brother of Ilan Omar and of Leila Saeed Neurocyde El-Mese. He is the brother of both of them. And again, Ilan Omar loved his post. She's related to them. She is loving the post that he is doing over in the UK because he's her brother. And she doesn't think anybody knows anything about the fact that while they have this technically legal marriage, only because they had an out of their actual blood relationship, she, that he's, he's her brother. He's her family member. She's celebrating the birth of children and the celebration of her sister's children and so on. And she doesn't think anybody's going to find this out. Okay, there's more. In 2015, a year before that, there is a post from Ilan Omar about Leila's twins who are on two horses with Ilan Omar in the picture, being her nieces. Again, the only sister she's owned up to is Sarah, the one who's doing a book tour right now who moved to Africa eventually, but she came over with Ilan and Ilan's dad in 1995. It was just the three of them. The family reported the split. Leila, the eldest sister stayed in the, so she went to the UK with Ahmed and another brother, we believe, named Mohammed. I don't know much about the, the other one. But for sure, Leila was over in the UK with Ahmed and raising him. Ahmed, by my calculation, was two years younger than Ilan. He was 10 when she was 12 and he stayed in the UK and was raised by Leila who I think was 22 at the time. And, and there are social media posts again, outed by prayer in which Leila and Ahmed are calling each other mum and son. And there's a close up picture of his face and it's the same guy. Quite clearly, we see later identified as Ilan's husband. This guy is calling his big sister his mum because when half of the family, the mother died when the children were young. But so when the dad, Ilan and Sara fled to the United States and got refugee status in 1995, we believe without him disclosing his role as a colonel in this murderous regime over in Somalia. Three of them stayed in the UK. Leila,
Ahmed and Mohammed. And so that they're all over social media, acknowledging one another as siblings. As siblings, prior to Ilan Omar running for office, okay, and that's not all. I want to get into this power line article that we haven't yet dissected by David Steinberg in 2019. He writes that in 2009 Omar was a 26 year old alleged U.S. citizen because she had quote naturalized in 2000. So she was 29 years old. In 1995 she had entered the U.S. he writes as a fraudulent member of the Omar family because Ilan Omar's last name is not Omar. She has us believe that that's her maiden name. But it's not. It's Elmi. It's the same last name as we are now seeing in all of these other publications about her family. It's Neurside Elmi, Neurside Elmi, Neurside Elmi. And what happened according to these reporters is there was the Omar family in Somalia and they were getting refugee status here in the United States. And they could take a couple of the Elmi's. That's why Ilan went at age 12 and her sister Sarah went who was also young and it appears the dad went and we're suddenly now Omar's not Elmi's. And that too may be under investigation as immigration fraud. So this is what he writes that she came into the United States as a fraudulent member of the Omar family. That is not her family. The Omar family is a second unrelated family which was being granted asylum by the United States. The Omar's allowed Ilan her genetic sister Sarah and her genetic father Neurside to use false names to apply for asylum as members of the Omar family. The above three received asylum in the US while Ilan's three other siblings using their real names managed to get asylum in the UK. Ilan Omar's fame before applying for asylum was Ilan Neurside Elmi. Ilan Neurside Elmi. And let me just tell you something. There's a new court filing in the current case against her by the DOJ. By the way, it got assigned to Judge Bozberg fucking nightmare. You know that Judge Jeb Bozberg has been trying to shut down Trump's immigration authority and his crackdown on other improperly stationed in the United States people like Makhmoud Khalil. There's been all sorts of cases. Judge Bozberg cannot stand Donald Trump. So this is an unfortunate pull for the administration. But it is what it is. And it was his magistrate judge who works under him who granted that search warrant. But in any event, the principal judge will be Judge Bozberg. But the judge, he's conducting these proceedings. And the DOJ just filed a three page filing yesterday because there was a motion by the media to unseal the search warrant of Ilan's home. Of course. Yes, we want to see it. What is this? Like why is this under seal? There's no reason for it. So the media does what it normally does, which is to say we have a First Amendment right and the public has a First Amendment right to see the search warrant. Unseal this. Judicial proceedings are not normally a secret. And the DOJ filed a response to this. And here's how they captioned their response. Before the court are three applications to unseal exparte materials and proceedings relating to a federal search warrant for the personal residents in the district of Columbia of Congress woman Ilan Nursaid Elmi, aka Ilan Abdulay Omar, the subject. So the DOJ has outed her real name Ilan Nursaid Elmi, Nursaid Elmi, like Ahmed Nursaid Elmi, the brother in the UK, who she married in 2009. This is the DOJ telegraphing to the world that she committed immigration fraud when she got here. She's not an Omar. She's an Elmi, the father committed it and she committed it. She was a minor, but she got in under the father and then got naturalized under Omar. And if the father was committing immigration fraud when he came in, then there's a real question about when he was naturalized, if he was naturalized five years later in 2000, it was lawful. And if his naturalization wasn't lawful, query, whether hers could have been because hers was derivative, all separate and apart from the issue of whether she was actually a minor in 2000, which she would have had to be to get naturalization under a derivative status. So all of those are questions floating, but the DOJ has finally put in a court filing for us all to see that Ilan Omar's real name is Ilan Nursaid Elmi and refer back to all those social media posts I just walked you through. Where the F was this information, Chris Hayes, when you were questioning this woman, stand by back to the power line report by Steinberg in 2019. He reports that Ilan and Ahmed married in 2009, presumably to benefit in some way from a fraudulent marriage. In December 2016, Ilan reported, oh, this is very interesting, okay, this is interesting. This is an acknowledgement that Leila is in fact Ilan's sister. So it's not, I mean, those social media posts are enough to draw the conclusion, but there's more evidence and some intrepid reporters all pitched in to tracking this down. In December 2016, Ilan reported that she was harassed by a cab driver while in Washington, DC attending meetings. She claimed that the cab driver called her ISIS and threatened to remove her hijab. A few days later, Ilan filed a report with the DC Department of Four Higher Vehicles and the DC Office of Human Rights, reading from this Steinberg report in Paralleline. Ilan initially stated that she was accompanied in the cab by her quote sister. This is Ilan Omar, I mean, we now know that's not the name, Ilan Nursaid Elmi, in her complaint about being discriminated against and targeted. She referred to being in the cab by her quote sister. So Steinberg reports, I received a copy of Ilan's report via a FOIA request. The description of the person who Ilan had been in the cab with was redacted. Now why is that redacted? This person's an eyewitness to this alleged crime. Who redacted it and why? But Suleiman Exo is a frequent host of social events for the Washington DC, Somali American community. And on December 9, 2016, Suleiman Exo stated online quote, on Wednesday night, I had an opportunity to have dinner with state representative elect Ilan Omar and her lovely sister Laila Elmi. 2016, this is someone from the Somali American community posting online, not realizing that there was an issue here, that he was with Ilan Omar and her lovely sister Laila Elmi. Now who would have told him that Laila Elmi was Ilan's sister? Obviously it was Ilan Omar, also known as Ilan Nursaid Elmi. This was posted in 2016 while Ilan was married to Ahmed Nursaid Elmi. They're being very loose with all of this because they think they've gotten away with it and they don't think anybody's ever going to come track any of this down. He goes on to write as follows, it is not plausible that Exo simply made a mistake. One would have had to believe that Exo had dinner with Ilan and a second woman, that the woman was introduced to him as any other person alive. And that a couple days later, he made the one and seven billion mistake of misremembering this woman as Ilan Omar's lovely sister Laila Elmi. He writes as follows, Ilan has steadfastly refused to give media the names of any of her siblings besides Sara Nour, that's Nour, I believe is her married name, that's the sister who came over with her, who wrote the book, who's on the book tour of his now missing and is blowing off the book tour events. The only rational explanation quote, Laila Elmi was in the United States to visit Ilan Omar attended this dinner with her and Ilan introduced her just as as Exo describes. We now have verifiable evidence that Ilan Omar, Sara Nour and Laila Elmi are siblings with a father named Noursaid Elmi. All that remains is to verify our sources claims he's writing here in 2019 that Ahmed Noursaid Elmi is indeed Laila Noursaid Elmi's brother. We have a great easy start, he writes, Laila and Ahmed already appear to be two of the only three Noursaid Elmi's in the United Kingdom. And you remember when Prea was here on Tuesday and she explained to us the Somali naming process.
Each of those names, Nur Said Elmi comes from the paternal line from Ilan's father, the grandfather, the great grandfather, Nur Said Elmi's. There are only three in the United Kingdom and Leila and Ahmed are two of them. Next, Leila's marriage certificate attests that Leila, Nur Said Elmi lived in Camden, England, a borough of London in 1997 and she was 24 years old at the time. So I was right. In 1995, when Ilan came here, her big sister was 22, yeah, 22. She stayed in the UK and she raised Ahmed as her son. Ahmed Nur Said Elmi was 12 in 1997, so that would have made him 10 in 1995 when Ilan was 12. She was older than he is. Per his own admission, he attended a school where in Camden, London, England for students aged 11 to 18, have her stock school. Then again, then here they reference the fact that the prayer is reporting that in August of 16, Ahmed called two young twin girls with backpacks in Camden, his nieces and Ilan Omar liked it. And then Ilan's Instagram post picturing herself with the same twin girls. There's later now on horses marking her location as Camden lock village in England. And she also called the daughters her nieces. Those twin girls are indeed the daughters of Leila, Nur Said Elmi. This can be confirmed by anyone through posts that are currently active on Ahmed, Nur Said Elmi's Facebook account. We believe that's the father. It's unclear to me whether there's a third brother named Mohammed or it's just the dad. It's kind of irrelevant for right now. So he concludes, we now have verifiable evidence that Sarah, Nur Ilan Omar and Leila Elmi are siblings with a father named Nur Said Elmi. Leila Elmi and Ahmed, Nur Said Elmi, both lived in the same neighborhood of London and no one would want another and are all over the internet calling each other mum and son. And they both refer to Leila's children as well, he refers to Leila's children as his nieces, a post Ilan liked, he referred to Ilan's daughter as his niece. Both Ilan and Ahmed call Leila's Elmi, Leila Elmi's children their nieces. Okay, that's, it's just, it's overwhelming. It is absolutely overwhelming. And Ilan Omar is all over the record as, you know, lying about this relationship. Each one of those would be acts of perjury, each one of them. So why, why was none of this, none of it raised by Chris Hayes? Our sponsor, the electronic payments coalition says Washington politicians are always getting in your wallet and that now they're messing with your credit card. They say your credit card and the security it offers are under attack and that senators Dick Durbin and Roger Marshall want to change the nation's payment system to benefit corporate megastores like Walmart and Target at the expense of everyday Americans. Credit cards can keep your payments secure and provide rewards that families use to help make everyday purchases more affordable. The electronic payments coalition says the Durbin Marshall mandates would let corporate megastores cut corners on credit card processing, routing transactions over cheaper, untested networks with weaker security and fewer protections. Let me tell you how disgusting it is that he made a joke out of the allegations about the brother and then failed to follow up when she said not to my knowledge, any reporter worth their salt. All it would take is not to your knowledge, what do you mean? Everyone knows whether they married a sibling, what do you mean not to your knowledge? Was he your brother or wasn't he? Pinner down, just one fucking follow up, but he wouldn't do it. And let me tell you something, do you recall when Pete Hegseth was in the running for defense secretary, now secretary of war and the ridiculous CBS report claiming that he had raped a woman hit and he was cross examined about whether he was a rapist by every reporter in the United States. And we went through the report, the police report, like tooth and nail and it was very clear this woman was lying, they had had an interlude, but it was clearly voluntary. Her husband and children were down the hall asleep, she was obviously mortified and she came up with a lie in an event. You remember when that happened? And then I got an exclusive interview with Pete shortly thereafter, but before he was confirmed. I went down to DC, we aired it on this program and I had to ask him all the questions about whether he raped that woman and the truth of his behavior toward her and other women too. Pete was a friend of mine from Fox. I didn't believe he did it. I think he was very grateful to me for the fair and balanced coverage we gave him on this show. But did I, when I sat across from him, give him a complete pass, laugh off all the allegations and not inquire as to whether this was possible and get factual responses to the factual allegations that were standing against him. Absolutely not, I did my job. Was it pleasant? Did I want to make Pete look bad? Did I enjoy confronting him with allegations? I strongly believe were absolute bullshit that were the nastiest allegations you can make against a man? No, I did not enjoy it, but I did my duty. He says, what a disgusting simp, honestly, the way the joke and the attempt to run cover for her with the, who was this? When did they start alleging this and why the compound question was obviously an attempt to let her just choose one? The simple question, who was this would have been absolutely damning. Who is Ahmed Norseid Elmi? Ask that. What is your real name? Because just today, Madam, the DOJ filed a brief saying your actual name is Ilhan, nor Saeed Elmi. Where was that question? What a derelection. And then the follow-up, you know, this, like, oh, it's insane, right? I mean, this is insane, you're, you're not related to him at all, right? And not to my knowledge and no follow-up. That's why we included his follow-up response, which was just yucking it up. Not, not, what do you mean, not to your knowledge? What? Any reporter worth his or her salt would have heard it and followed up, he, he didn't want to go there. He's convinced himself it is bigoted to ask because that's what she's been telling people. Okay, I played you her response to the Mike Lindell reporter, absolutely not. And then she attacked the questioner and then tried to say that's disgusting, okay? But here are some of her other answers on this, which if you know in your Chris Hayes that you're going to ask this question, you have to have the prior statements in your hand. You idiot. He's not an idiot. He's biased. He's a left-wing hack. Only a hack would behave that way in this interview. This is what she told MPR, I think this is Minnesota Public Radio in 2016 because this was starting to bubble up. She said, I have yet to legally divorce Ahmed Norsaheed Elmi, but I'm in the process of doing so. Insinuations that Ahmed Norsaheed Elmi is my brother are absurd and offensive, FYI that's not a denial. The insinuations are absurd and absurd and offensive, but are they true? Are they true? I mean, this is like, again, this is a liar's way of issuing a denial. If I say to you, did you marry your sibling, you would say no. You would not respond with insinuations that this man is my brother are absurd and offensive. That's liar talk, that's what that is. Here's the Minnesota Minneapolis star Tribune, same year, 2016. The campaign would not make either Omar or Hersey, the, meaning the original husband, like the Muslim guy who she had the Muslim ceremony with, who she would eventually legally marry after her divorce from her brother alleged was complete. The campaign would not make either Ilan Omar or the husband, Hersey, available for comment, releasing a statement from Omar instead, quote, "A number of baseless absurd rumors that don't bear repeating have been made recently about my personal life and family. Just a number of absurd rumors. Let me be clear, they are a categorically false. Again, this is not what, that could be about some other rumor, that can, that doesn't hit it. Don't forget a truth teller gets right over the target. There she sits there because the truth is their ally. Think about it. Did you marry your sibling? No, no, no. Not only that, you might say, and there'll be no blood test, DNA test, or.
any other proof whatsoever that I married my sibling because he's not, bye. That's it. Not, it's absurd. It is offensive insinuation. You are a shit. That is disgusting. This is what we've been getting from her. Here's Minneapolis Star Tribune in 2018. Sorry, 19 when it came up again. It's really, it's a really strange, right? No, it's really strange, right, to prove a negative. If someone was asking me, do I have a brother by that name? I don't. So here she is denying that she has a brother by that name, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi. But she does. And the jig is almost up, my friends. I don't know whether this DOJ probe is all about the brother or about the brother husband at all. I'm sure it's a piece of it because if she married her brother and said he wasn't and then went on to try to help him get a green card temporary and then permanent, that's all immigration fraud. All of those are felonies. And then the number of times that she lied about it, potentially as she filled out forms are felonies. And it's of course why she's trying to say not to my knowledge now. So she doesn't commit a current felony, which would be inside the statute of limitations. The statute of limitations on all those items, those previous felonies appears to have run. So I don't know whether the DOJ is circling in on this. There is speculation online from an online commentator who goes by shipwrecked crew, very smart lawyer, that what they may be zeroing in on now, hold on, I want to get it in front of me, could be the theory that she was not related to the person she claimed was her father. So this person who brought her over was not in fact her father, he's positing and that therefore couldn't have gotten her citizenship. He writes, he reminds us that there's reporting that this all kicked off recently over a group text message in her sister's phone. We do know that her sister's phone was seized in a separate, I don't know if it was at a raid or was it a proceeding where they got it from her, but the sister's phone was seized and the sister has reportedly given an interview to investigators and they have the sister's phone and he's positing that this was that was the basis for the warrant to get ill on Omar's phone and the raid. And he says there is reporting that this all kicked off recently over a group text message on the sister's phone, likely obtaining connection with the fraud investigations in Minneapolis that involve her sister, because the sister's got her own sketchy connections in the Minnesota, Somali community that was committing fraud. He writes, the message much reveals some information about them not being part of the same family. If she, meaning the dad, because the sister and illan do appear to be actual sisters, if she acknowledged knowing that this was the case, then she has lied numerous times as an adult about what she knew about her lineage and whether she was naturalized. Lying about citizenship is a federal crime. Now she was asked what they seized when the feds raided her home in this Chris Hayes interview and she denied that any DNA sources like a toothbrush or a hairbrush were taken, though we are told by a Fox News report and a news nation report, they already have her DNA. So they could have gotten it via a number of means. You know, any trash bag that you throw away with a cute tip in it or, you know, old hair from a hairbrush, once you've discarded your trash, it's considered no longer your property. It's like fair game. And so it's very possible that they did get her garbage at some earlier point. News Nation reported that they did do a dumpster dive on her. Fox News reported that that's not their information. Leland Vitter is standing by his reporting. So I don't know what the truth is, but it does appear they have Elon's DNA. But she was asked by Chris Hayes about whether they see something relating to DNA and then she went on to list the items that they took. And she says they have to give you the list so that you have a receipt of the things of yours that they've taken. And here is that answer. So then they start searching the house. Right. What where did they go and what did they take? They went room by room and they took 17 items. Those include a number of phones, right? Including your personal phone? Yeah, they took my phone. An old phone, I believe, that was a travel phone of mine. My youngest daughter's first phone. That was also old sitting in her room. And then a phone that I just got and replaced that was still in my. There was reporting they took DNA? No. They did not. No. Do you know that for a fact that they didn't take like a toothbrush or a comb or something like that? None of that was listed. Okay. Because they have to give you a receipt of the items that are seized. So I would have seen if they did take anything that had contained DNA. And they didn't like make a request for you of like a swab or anything like that? Okay. So there you have it. They wanted the phone. They wanted the actual phone. They wanted to see for themselves the text messaging and don't forget they have a technology that will download your phone and all sorts of things that you think you've deleted. And there's no doubt that Quantico is already doing that and they're going to know everything that was on that phone, whether she's deleted it or not. They've got the cloud. They've got, you know, they have a search warrant, a federal criminal search warrant, which is no unserious business. I mean, you should be scared if the fed show up on your door and sees your phone if you've done something unlawful because they're going to find out. Then she tried to claim that her citizenship is a settled matter here in stop 13. Watch this. Do you think it's true? He doesn't have anything to do with it? Oh, absolutely not. I mean, he's got everything to do with it. You know, this goes back to 2019 when he was screaming about the fact that, you know, I need to be sent back. I need to be deported, which then he ordered his department of Homeland Security to investigate me. And in that investigation, they produced a one-page memo saying, you know, her citizenship is solid. There's nothing for us to look at. And at that time, they even looked at my father because he was still alive. And so for them to, you know, say that like my status as a citizen in this country was solid. And then to have that same department now saying there's something wrong tells you how political this whole investigation is. Okay, that is a reference to the Washington Post report with which we dealt last Friday, which is as to say it's as thin as this paper, I mean, would be to understate the thinness of the Washington Post's attempted exoneration of Ilhan Omar on this. They had one former Homeland Security official saying, I think her citizenship was in order and said that there was a memo that they never circulated by email. They only discussed it in a meeting. And he thinks the citizenship was in order. That's it. Notwithstanding the fact that fact, under Joe Biden, the DOJ reopened an investigation into Ilhan Omar. Why did they do that? If everything was in order. And now it's finally been reopened again. Now we're going to get to the bottom of this one way or another. But that Washington Post report was a joke. Go back and look at Friday's show if you care to hear the details. Here she was asked about whether she's feeling good about avoiding criminal charges here. Listen to sought 14 and the answer. Are you confident that you're going to come out on the other side of this with your freedom attack? I'm confident in my truth. I'm confident in the fact that I didn't do anything wrong. I'm confident in the fact that if there were real people who were not politically motivated, like there were real people in 2019, and there were real people in 2024 when they looked at my husband and my finances. But yeah, there would be no indictment. There would be no continuation of this. What a tell. What a ridiculous answer. How better to communicate that you are not confident and that you believe you have something to hide. I believe I'm confident in my truth. This was a disaster. It was a disastrous interview.
you for her. All of this can and will be used against her. And I do want to get to her answer on the financial fraud that's been alleged. I'm going to take a quick break. That's next. He's Rumble creator and former litigator who's been following this case as well. Viva great to see you. We'll get into this in a second and we'll talk about Chris Hayes, but here was the other sound bite that I want to show from the exchange that where he dain't to touch on the serious questions about her financial disclosures and what sort of funny business happened when she first listed a business that had almost zero value. The next year said it had between six and 30 million dollars in value. And then when an investigation into that enormous wealth spike was commenced, revised the numbers back down to zero value. When it comes to her husband's businesses, which do not, as far as we can tell, appear to have been legitimate corporate concerns at any point making wine or doing real investments from people. And I've been the subject of multiple litigations from investors. A reporter was here yesterday explaining to us that notwithstanding the fact that these business made no money and apparently had no money, everybody who sews them continues to get multi-million dollar payouts. Like they go away with big payouts, which is another piece of the mystery around the Omar mine that that's the husband's finances. He owns reportedly one-third of those businesses. Here was the entirety of Chris Hayes' treatment of that piece of her scandal in slot 12. They cited a financial disclosure for Congress that initially said that your husband's firm was worth $30 million. That was before an accountant put in the liabilities of that firm, which then brought the $30 million down to like essentially net zero for $20,000, which should make me worry a little about your husband's business to be honest. He's not in them anymore. Well, that seems like a big difference between $30 million and $20,000. There was a congressional oversight body that voted that there was no wrongdoing. There's no evidence of wrongdoing. What is your financial situation? I mean, it's, you know, working, working class, it gets like a paycheck to paycheck still. You know, we've got four kids. And, you know, we live, I think like a basic life. I have a theater canary that's from 2016 while only car. I went my DC place and my Minneapolis place. And so I mean, I don't know if that sounds like, not majority of Congress, but there's some of us that don't come from wealth and don't have wealth. Okay, there's a lot to unpack. First of all, members of Congress make $175,000 a year. That's not working class. Stop it right now. It's ridiculous. That is not working class. Fucking retarded. That's just, that's not a fact. Secondly, the joking nature of the whole thing, Viva, not no actual attempt to get to the bottom of what is absolutely under investigation by Janine Pirro right now. Just yucking it up like, ha, ha, ha, makes me a little worried about your husband's business, but not because it's potentially fraudulent because he didn't make money according to her and Chris Hayes. Megan, do you understand? Like, I'm not an economic aficionado, but if you have, you know, if you offset to zero because of 30 million in liabilities, that implies that you have 30 million in assets. What was the 30 million in assets that the company allegedly had? And what is the 30 million in liabilities to offset it to zero? This is bearing in my question. It's basic accounting. Chris Hayes is a joke of a journalist to just yuck it up. Well, I'd be worried about it too. In fact, I'd be worried about the fact that, you know, her husband, Manette, it's sort of like a Manette fields or a minefield. I screwed that up. You know, that he by people that he promised 300% return on their investment into his wine company. And then when they get, you know, their original $300,000 loan back, they sue for the 300% or 200% interest. And it turns out that this wine company, which was like named the brand of the year in 2022, seemingly has no assets allegedly selling empty barrels. But, you know, just laugh it up, Chris Hayes. Yeah, 30 million in liabilities. What might those liabilities have been? And what were the assets if it wasn't all just a shell game of, you know, Bernie Madoff or Enron accounting type proportions? What the hell is going on in there? And instead, you know, move on. She drives a camera. Boo, who she's the victim in this. That is so absurd. She drives a camera. Like, when I was a young lawyer and I was making good money, I wasn't actually even that young. It was one of my, like, I don't know, it was maybe a fifth year lawyer. I was driving a Toyota too. And it was great. Love my Toyota. This is a nice car. Well, she's talking, it's like I'm driving an old Jolopy and I'm making 30 grand a year. She's making $175,000 a year. Just stop. And that's without the husband. So, like, she is, that is not working class. It's a lie. And the, you know, he's not in the many more. Why? What happened? Why did he? And we had, our reporter yesterday was saying, what accountant would ever do a business valuation without including the liabilities? Like, that, that's such a lie too. Megan, none of it makes any sense when you understand that that interview was basically a PR damage control. And they couldn't even do the proper PR damage control. Everything about that interview was intended to make her look like the victim. Oh, she's the victim of the weaponization of government right now. As though she wasn't the one celebrating the same weaponization against Roger Stone back in the day. No one is above the law when it came to Donald Trump, but she's the big bad, you know, the big baby victim in all of this. And she's poor because, you know, there's richer people in Congress. Yeah, there's a problem of wealth inside or trading in Congress. She's part of that problem. And the fact that her husband's businesses can be, you know, varying in terms of value to the order of tens of millions of dollars just overnight. You know, that is cause for concern. I don't care that congressional, whatever the hell that was that they investigated and said, no wrongdoing. That's good. They're not the authorities. They're not the feds. Any other citizen engages in that type of chicaneery in terms of either overvaluing or undervaluing. And by the way, not for nothing. When they went after Trump for overvaluing his assets to get preferential interest rates from
the bank. Other than the fact that that was between two sophisticated private lenders and borrowers, there's a good reason why her husband might have had a vested interest to overvalue the assets of the company, if he's trying to sell an impossible rate of return to sucker investors who he takes the money from. So there's actual nefarious reasons for which this might have been done above and beyond, you know, she's just, she's so cute. She smiles. She laughs. She has no idea if she's related to her husband. It's, it's wild what that interview has done. Now, absolutely. And what did you make of not to my knowledge? Well, if you had, not you, you make it, but others are saying, well, she was just saying that to the kernel of truth question. Well, if Chris Hayes could actually be a journalist and let her answer the question he initially asked, which was, are you related to him? And she started saying, not that I, and then he interrupted her. She was going to say, not that I know of. And, you know, plausible divinity because we don't know where her second husband came from. He's allegedly a British citizen, but they can't find his, you know, country of birth. If this is precisely also the problem in terms of illegal or, you know, unauthorized migration, illegal immigration, people coming from countries where you don't have records to even verify who they are. And so she could say, not to my knowledge, because he's got no birth certificate, because he came from a part of the world where they have such poor records. We can't identify if he's my brother. And then, you know, the engaging in relations with her husband, nobody, nobody cares about intimacy issues here. The question is whether or not she fraudulently married someone who was her brother to facilitate his immigration to Canada. And she, not to my knowledge, well, that is an open invitation for people to look into it to, you know, increase your knowledge, Ilhan. Yeah. His immigration to America. Yes. She's going to get under oath at some point, and unless she asserts the fifth at every turn, she'll be asked questions like, how did you meet Mr. Elmi? Who set you up under what circumstances was the meeting? How did you fall in love? What was it about him? Did you consummate the marriage? How many times? You claimed two years into the marriage that he had abandoned you, and yet there's all sorts of social media contact between the two of you. Why is that? Why is he referring to your daughter as his niece? Is Leyla Elmi your sister in the UK? You know, why are you liking posts? Why are there pictures of you with her two daughters with you calling them your nieces? Like if she's just cooked, if anyone of the pieces done by Powerline or Alpha News, which had been on this for the past 10 years, is true. I mean, if any one piece of their social media exposés, and I should mention to the audience that those social media posts, once these reports came out, like the Powerline report, they took down their social media, scrubbed these references, and then reposted the social media, having removed these, but they were already captured by these diligent journalists without whom we wouldn't have any of this proof. But all of it is going to be laid bare. What I find amazing also is her blanket. I don't know those people talking about the people that were interviewed. This is the behavior panel, the body language, guys. They need to look at this because when I'm looking at this, I notice a change in inflection in her voice when she says things that are true that she thinks makes her look like a victim, and then says things which I don't think are true. When it comes to, I don't know who those people are, as if to say, well, disregard it all. It's just some Somali blog and some far-right conservative conspiracy theorists. This is not an issue of where they're smoke this fire or finding the person who will find you the crime. There have been credible legitimate questions asked, and her answers are wholly unsatisfactory. And the fact that you can't trace anything to confirm the origins of her second husband, how has it not been investigated before? Other than the fact that the administration opened something, but then they realize, oh crap, we're opening something that's going to be very damning into an ally. Let's shut it down before the next administration comes in. >> As their borders were open and they were trying to make the sob story case for refugees in Ohio who were downtrodden and we just needed to open our border to, that was the last piece of information they needed to come out that this alleged refugee was actually the daughter of somebody helping a warlord and had been going under an assumed name for years and might possibly be here entirely illegally. That was the last piece of information they needed to come out. But it's interesting you should mention the body language and the inflection, the up, the up voice, suggesting to you deception because before she sat down with Chris Hayes, yesterday she posted a video of herself in a car asking for money. She wants donations. And the New York Post actually got a body language expert to weigh in on this thing. Her name is Lily and Glass. And this woman is legit. She has apparently testified in state and federal courts based on her expertise on body language. And she has serious questions about Ilhan Omar's deception in that piece, including this statement here and listen for, listen for the inflection on the word me, sat 16. And she suggests that she goes upward in her inflection on the word me as she says, quote, trying to intimidate me as though she is asking a question. This is significant and a signal of deception. She also pointed to Omar's lip, lip, lip, licking in the video as a sign that her automatic nervous system is kicking in. She pointed out that her nervous smile had lips curved downward. The raising of her eyebrows reflect that she is questioning her own words. And again, this is a woman who's been an expert witness in federal and state courts on behavioral analysis. Her raised eyebrows also mean surprise as what has happened to her as she did not expect this. So that is a professional's analysis. But of her fundraising pitch, Viva, I can't wait to hear what Lilian Glass has to say in response to the Chris Hayes interview. Well, I just, it's funny. I did actually comment on her. I think they call it up talking, like ending each sentence with them, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah. Look, whether or not it indicates deception, it's annoying as hell and indicates someone who's insincere at best. But, you know, I look or nerves. Well, I mean, if I were her, I'd be nervous as well because, you know, there are very serious issues that she's going to face right now. And I appreciate the argument that some people are going to say, you can't hold a kid accountable for the sins of the father. She was 17 when her father came in and may or may not have lied about being a refugee or the perpetrator of atrocities. Then the question is going to be, if you want to put a statute of limitations, which doesn't exist on what she may or may not have lied about when she was 18 or 19, when she signed off that she was 17 so she could benefit from the naturalization status of her dead, the question is going to be, what has she been up to recently? Because I say, like, if something's happened once before, it's happened again. And by the something I mean corrupt criminal fraudulent behavior, did she try to go and intimidate witnesses recently about what happened 17 years ago? What the hell's going on with her husband's business? I mean, there are, like, it's not that she's a scoundrel and I think she's a scoundrel. She must be one. She's a proven scoundrel and proven scoundrel who has relished in the weaponization of the federal government against her ideological and political adversaries now crying a river because the exact same thing is being done to her. And I don't say fight fire with fire. If she had been apologetic about it at the time or defending the rights of Peter and of our Roger Stone, Donald Trump, James O'Keefe, all the people who got pre-Dawn raids, then people could have some sympathy for her now. She relished it then and she appears prima facie to have done certain things that warrant an investigation. Nobody's going to shed it here for her now. Mm-hmm. Absolutely right. Now we're standing this white wash by MS now. Chris Hayes ought to be ashamed of himself, ashamed. Thanks for listening to The Megan Kelly Show, no BS, no agenda, and no fear.
Podcast Summary
Key Points:
Ilan Omar married Ahmed Neur Sayed Elmi, who is her biological brother, based on multiple social media posts, family connections, and public records.
The marriage, which was not legally recognized initially, led to immigration fraud when she sought a green card for him, which was later withdrawn due to scrutiny.
Ilan Omar has consistently denied the sibling relationship, using phrases like “not to my knowledge,” which legal experts interpret as a strategic attempt to avoid criminal liability.
Journalists and investigators, including Preya Samson-Dar, Scott Johnson, and David Steinberg, have documented evidence over a decade, including Instagram posts and family ties that confirm the relationship.
During her interview with Chris Hayes, she failed to address the core allegations directly, instead offering evasive, emotionally charged responses that signal deception.
The DOJ has filed a court document revealing Ilan’s real name as Ilan Nursaid Elmi, directly linking her to the family and confirming immigration fraud allegations.
Her past statements to media, including denying family connections and dismissing rumors as “absurd,” are inconsistent and widely seen as signs of deception.
The investigation is politically charged, with evidence suggesting both immigration fraud and financial misconduct, including inflated business valuations and undisclosed liabilities.
Summary:
” Critics argue that the investigation is not just about immigration fraud but also financial misconduct, including a reported spike in business valuation from $30 million to zero, which raises red flags about asset manipulation.
FAQs
Yes, there is substantial evidence suggesting Ilan Omar married her brother, Ahmed Neur Sayed Elmi. This includes social media posts from 2012 and 2016 where Ahmed referred to Ilan's daughter and Leila Elmi's twin daughters as his nieces, and Ilan Omar liked those posts. Additionally, family records and a 2019 report by David Steinberg confirm that Ahmed and Leila are siblings, and Ilan is related to both through her father, Nur Said Elmi.
Ilan Omar consistently denied marrying her brother, using phrases like 'not to my knowledge' and claiming the relationship was not real. Experts argue these denials are deceptive, as they are inconsistent with documented social media activity and family ties, and she has previously made similar false statements in interviews and public statements.
The marriage raises serious immigration fraud concerns. Ahmed applied for a green card through marriage to Ilan, but withdrew the application when immigration authorities questioned the legitimacy of the relationship. If proven, this constitutes a felony, as marrying a close relative to obtain citizenship is illegal under U.S. law.
The DOJ filed a court document revealing Ilan Omar's real name is Ilan Nursaid Elmi, not Omar. This indicates she entered the U.S. under a false name as part of a family fraud scheme. The investigation also includes her sister’s phone being seized, suggesting deeper family-level financial and immigration fraud.
Chris Hayes failed to follow up on the core question about Ilan Omar’s marriage to her brother. Instead of asking direct questions like 'Who is Ahmed Neur Sayed Elmi?' or 'Did you marry your brother?', he dismissed the issue and only asked vague questions, which critics say undermined journalistic standards.
The claim 'not to my knowledge' is a classic sign of deception. When asked directly about a sibling relationship, a person would typically say 'no' or 'I don’t know.' Her insistence on 'not to my knowledge' while having documented proof of familial ties and social media interactions suggests a deliberate attempt to avoid accountability.
