THE FRAGRANCE

Pastor Brown Karinga delivers a powerful message on the nature of true worship, centered on the concept of a "broken heart" as the most valuable offering to God. Drawing from biblical examples like Mary anointing Jesus with costly perfume and David breaking his oil container, he illustrates how sacrifice, not performance, produces spiritual fragrance. The perfume symbolizes the depth of self-giving—offering one’s heart fully, as the cost was equivalent to a year’s wages, showing that the most expensive gift is what one truly desires and gives without reservation. He teaches that worship is not about imitation or uniformity, but about individual authenticity, where each believer produces a unique spiritual fragrance through their life, worship, and prayer. The breaking of the heart—through loss, suffering, or divine confrontation—releases divine presence and produces sweet incense that ascends to God. Karinga emphasizes that a broken heart is not defined by sorrow alone, but by surrender to God’s will, where personal desires are replaced with divine purpose. He concludes by urging believers to break their own "alabaster boxes" through surrender, affirming that God sees, treasures, and is pleased with each authentic, personal expression of faith. This message calls Christians to live with spiritual integrity, allowing the fragrance of their lives—shaped by humility, sacrifice, and truth—to fill both church and world.

Debs of the Spirit, we have read about revivals, we have had about revivals, but what will my children know about God for me? A canyon revival hub dedicated to ignite a new fire through the knowledge of God, prayer and worship. What will my children know about God from this generation? We shall live, we shall live in the prize and God is found by this generation. Reeling the length, the height, the depth and the width of the Word of God. And my generation is preparing for a lot of fire, my generation is preparing for that manuscript in God that has not been scripted and we are going to live until we find God. In our generation. Now bringing the Word of God, Pastor Brown Karinga. Who is the name of Jesus? My name is Pastor Brown Karinga and I would just love to delve into the teaching immediately may the Lord give you understanding, may He help you, for He is He who works in us both to willing to do in the name of Jesus, amen. Last time we left off where given a few examples of David's worship, Hannah's prayer, the Church of Ephesus in Revelation of the two being admonished to go back to the first works or else the lumpstone will be taken from its place. And Queen Vasti who had lost her crown because she did not accept to be a vessel, yes, even for the noble purpose. But they want to continue. This is also a follow up after the teaching that I did on Saturday, I think two episodes back you will go and find it. Let me confirm what is the name of the, the name of the episode so that you can refer to it. So if you have not listened to it please hurry spiritual surgery service. This is a follow up of that teaching and this is part two of extravagant washing. I pray that you have been well under the Lord. I know that the Lord is faithful and he keeps on being faithful. Now I had read three scriptures for you, look chapter 7, verse 36 to 36 to 50 I believe. Mark chapter 14 verse 3 to 9 and John chapter 12 from verse 1 to 9. These three scriptures were speaking one in Mark, I believe that is this woman who poured the ointment on Jesus here. The second is in look and in John where this woman who is considered a prostitute poured the ointment on the feet of Jesus. Now I am going to continue the teaching in another the Lord is going to bless us. Let's go back to John chapter 12 verse 1, John chapter 12, the John or Mark chapter 14 sorry. Let's go first to Mark chapter 14, Mark chapter 14 from verse 3 to 9. The Bible says then when he was in Bethany, I guess in the house of Simon the leper. As he was reclining at the table, a woman, a woman came with an alabaster jar of ointment of pure night, other vassals, call it spike night. Now the word spike night comes from the Greek word Nardos, N-A-R-D-O-S, Nardos which describes one of the most expensive perfumes that ever existed at that time. I remember I told you that there are three ways in which a Christian, this is, this is allow me to say this before I continue, there are three ways in which a Christian releases fragrance or incense. Thank you Jesus. Thank you Jesus, there are three ways in which a Christian releases incense or fragrance. Number one, oh thank you Jesus, thank you Jesus. Number one is through the life that you live. Three ways I'm writing most because I'm learning, the Lord is teaching me right now. Through the life that is Romans chapter 12 and verse 1, "I beseech you therefore present by the masses of God to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice wholly and acceptable unto God which is your reasonable act of worship. This is where worship is a lifestyle, it's a style of life. So the way you live releases a fragrance, the way you live releases a fragrance, the way you live releases a fragrance. Oh thank you Jesus. Now look at this, in the book of 2 Corinthians 2 15, 2 Corinthians 2 15, 2 Corinthians 2 15, the Bible says that for we are the sweet fragrance of Christ, which exhales and to God. So this life that we call it a fragrance is when Christ lives in us. The Bible says in Galatians 24 it is no longer eye who lives but Christ who lives in me. When Christ lives in you, the fragrance of your life exhales and to God. Oh oh and to God, desunable alike, desunable, one of the qualities of this fragrance is that it is desunable. I told you that no two Christians have this in fragrance in the spirit. Fregrances can be distorted by people who try to look like others who try to worship like others who try to live like others or by sin or many factors that can destroy because fragrances are a mixture of spices. So if you get one spice wrong, you get the whole fragrance wrong. So there are different ingredients that are needed to make the fragrance of a Christian. And therefore you will come to see that the Bible says that this fragrance is desunable. That is why I gave an example of the fact that I look for the best fragrance in perfume every single type and I decided to speak to stick to one. It was a very small one but you just applied droplets of it and everybody in a matter to ask you what perfume are you wearing? What perfume are you wearing? But even in the fact that that was one of the best perfumes I had found, there were always better perfumes and I would be tempted to just ask what is that perfume that I can change from this one and get another one. But one of the things that Lord is ministering to me and has been ministering to me is that he likes your perfume whether you don't like it or not. That is why we need to have identity in the place of worship, identity in the place of worship. Know who you are in Christ. Many of you have been given and the fragrance that Lord has given you is not a fragrance of shouting. Most people I have met who cannot shout but you should have you people met Stephanie. Stephanie is it Stephanie? She worships in Jesus' image. Let me give the name. Yes, Stephanie Gretzinka, I believe that is a name. Stephanie Gretzinka never shout. Her worship is never, never noisy. But that is the style of her life. Are you getting me? And she cannot imitate other people. She may never growl, but her fragrance is distinct. We have people like Apostle Edouketsch, people who grown for hours and let me tell you that is a fragrance on its own. There are people like Dooz in Oyekan, whose worship is very fiery or very fiery, it involves loud shouts and jumping and dancing. There are people whose fragrance is even singing in those of tunes, but it is still a fragrance to the Lord. They don't know how to play keyboards. Their church is playing chord 1, 4, 5 and nothing else and till you it looks boring. But to God that is a fragrance on its own. So nobody can have the same figures. Even churches. Different churches have different figures. Because every church has a lampstand. Every life has a lampstand. Every church has a lampstand. And the lampstand is where spices are burnt and every oh ho. So when you go to the problem we have is that we compare different churches and we want them to worship the same way. When we unite together the Holy Spirit under his grace brings us to a unison. But different people worship in different ways. I love how a Korean or worship. These guys dance unapologetically. Come to other churches who just clap their hands. I have come to notice that I will not be a judge of how people worship God. I will not be a judge whether I like it or not. So when we go to different worship experiences in different churches let us go to the drink of that fountain. Not to judge of how we have a better form of worship than them. We have a better form of a list. Let me leave that. So the first way that a Christian gives forth frequencies through life. The life to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice. How you live. The second is how you worship. How you worship. Now this is the art of the brokenness of the heart. So worship through the brokenness of the heart. I was meditating on why this woman broke the alabaster box. She had no point out. One day I had a very special perfume bottle. And I misshandle it and it broke. It broke. This perfume bottle broke. And guess what happened. My whole house was filled with fragrance. Isn't that beautiful? Now when you pour it can only affect a certain area. But when you break it, the whole house is filled with fragrance. That is in John chapter 12, I believe. Let me get to that. The Bible says, "And Mary took a pound of ointment of pure liquid night. A real perfume which was expensive and she poured it before the feet of Jesus and wiped them with her hair. And the whole house was filled with a fragrance of a perfume. Anytime you have your worship in a broken heart, you feel the room with fragrance, the fragrance of your perfume. The third way, you release a fragrance to God is through prayer. That is in Revelation chapter 8. And this fragrance we call it incense. The Bible says, "And when the lamb, Revelation chapter 8, rock opened the seventh seal with there was silence for about a half an hour. And I saw seven angels who stand before the Lord and to them were given seven trumpets. Another angel came and stood before the altar. He had a golden sense and he was given very much incense. He was given very much incense, fragrant spices and gums that exhale per fume and bund. That is why every living, every, the reason why our lives produce fragrance is because we become a burning offering. So there are many people who come like king and offer themselves a sacrifice and God rejects it. Who shall listen to the mountain of the Most High? He was a pure heart who was not raised his hands to vanity. The lifting of your hands be as uneven sacrifice. Why is the lifting of hands like an evening sacrifice? Every two thing you do is liken to a sacrifice. Why is the lifting of your hand liken to a living sacrifice? That means the lifting of your hands can be rejected. So there are many people who lift their hands tirelessly. Yet, it is never received as a sacrifice. The Bible says, "Give him the fruit of thanksgiving, the fruit of your lips which is thanksgiving." So that thanksgiving is an offering in itself. So there are many people who give though that fruit, but that fruit is never accepted. Because the offering of king was fruit and the fruit of the land. But that fruit was never accepted. There are many offerings that we give to God. Many of us raise songs as offerings. But many of us just minister to people and not to God because if you're ministering to God, the one ministering to means fulfilling the need of. What is the need of the Holy Spirit in this hour? So he carried this angel, carried a sensor, which was given very much incense. And was given very much incense, fragrant spices and gums, which exhaled by a human band that he might mingle it with the prayers of the people upon the golden altar, upon the throne. And the smoke of the incense arose in the presence of God with the prayers of the people of God from the lab, from the hand of the angel. And the angel took the sensor and filled you the fire on the altar and cast it upon the earth. Now, the third way to release fragrance is through prayer. Number one, through your life. Number two, through worship. Number three, through your life. So you are speaking about the spi. the spi-knart. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus. Spi-knart was so expensive that only few people could buy it. Most had to buy one of the many cheap imitations available. I remember I told you before that many people's forms of releasing fragrance, either by life or by worship or by prayer, is an imitation of other people's fragrance. By the word used in John 12 verse 3, tells us that Mary did not bring Jesus a cheap imitation. She brought Jesus the real thing, an ultimate so valuable, that it was normally reserved and used as gifts for kings and nobility. This is a gift Mary brought to Jesus. Say something that Jesus said that she was meant to keep it. She was meant to keep it for the preparation of his burial. For the preparation, look at verse 7 and Jesus said, John 12 verse 7, Jesus said, let alone it was intended that she should keep it for the time of my preparation for burial. In the days of the New Testament, a woman's hair represented her glory, and I think I taught about the hair. And a postal poll referred to this in 1 Corinthians 11 verse 15, the Bible says that he wrote that the woman's hair was her glory. Now, the glory of the church is her hair. Many of us, all of us, the whole men and women, I want this to know that we are all present, we all have hair. And that hair is what we call glory. What brings glory to us. For many of us, it is our decrease, for many of us, it is our titles. And I am very sorry. I am very sorry and apologists to the church that many men of God, many pastors of the seeers and bishops and reverents, never have reverence before the Lord. They are title, they are crowned, they are hair. They never allow their hair to touch the feet of Jesus. Because a title confers glory, praise Jesus. But this woman gave Jesus the best gift she had to offer. In verse 12 verse 13, the Bible says that the house was filled with the order of the ointment. Wow. This was an entire pound. But I wanted to know, I wanted to know the weight of this, of the content of this alabaster box. I want to explain the content of this. Considering how much this magnet cost, this was an enormous amount for Mary to use to announce Jesus' feet. Judas, now Judas is this person and I have told you that in every place, there is this person who is always going to be there, to tell you and to judge how you're worshiping. Where I'm talking to ministers of the world, I'm talking to ministers, prayer ladies, I'm talking to ministers of worship, I'm talking to you who goes to church just to worship, they are always going to be people who are going to be there to criticize. How you're worshiping. I told you last time that these people do not know what it cost you. They do not know. So Judas, this character was five hours. So why was this ointment? Why was not this ointment? Soul for 300 penns and given to the poor. Now the Greek word for the word pens is denarius. In that day, the Roman denarius was one day salary. So if he said soul for 300 denarius, I want us to understand what we mean by this was a year's wage. So at which a day was a denarius or a pens? And therefore you would have this kind of alabaster book. So this kind of ointment, despite not, you would have to work for more than a year to get this. And I remember I taught you last time about how David, Broke his alabaster box and released his peknut, which is his costly oil when he was dancing oil because he is all oil. He had purchased it for more than a year when he was asking how can I bring the presents of God back to my seat. So in that day, the drum and denarius was one day salary. So when Judas announced that the speknut could not have been sold for 300 pence, he was saying that Mary's perfume was worth 300 days of salary. That is why it was an extremely expensive gift. It was worth more than an entire year, which my question to you today is what is the most expensive gift you've ever given to God? What is the most expensive gift you have ever given to God? I know some people will tell me their heart. The truth is, have you given him your heart? Some people will say my life when I receive Jesus. The truth is, some people have said Jesus, I give you my life, but they still remain holding fast to it. I came to realize that one of the most expensive gifts to give somebody is what they want. If you know what somebody wants, and you give them what they want, they will do it more expensive than what money can buy. Do you it may be cheap, but if you give a hungry, how will I say this, if you give a first day man who has been fasting for 30 days, let me say 21 days or 14 days, who has been fasting for 14 days, if you give him water, you have given him the greatest gift. If you give a man who has been starving food, you've given him the greatest gift. Notica, you give him what he likes, what he needs, what he wants. If you give a man who has been sleeping outside a place to sleep, you have given him the best gift. So what does God want from us? What does God want from us? He is the only one of the few people who says what he wants, Proverbs 23, 26, my son give me your heart full spread. That God, I give you my heart, because the heart the Bible says out of it flows all the issues of life, that is the whole sameness of everything that it is. The Bible says that where your treasure is, that is where your heart is to, so if your treasure is in God, you will give him your heart. If you give him your heart, you'll give him everything. And that is why the picture of this alabaster box is a picture of the heart. And the picture of the breaking of the alabaster box is a picture of the breaking of the heart. The Bible says in Psalm 51 verse 10, that the sacrifice of the Lord is a broken heart and a contrite spirit. Oh, thank you Jesus, thank you Jesus, thank you Jesus, thank you Jesus, a contrite heart or spirit is when a person is in a man or will has been broken so that they no longer run after the things they want, but surrender to what God wants. That is the meaning of a contrite heart. contrite. This is the only sacrifice God has specified He wants. David says that if you desired God, I would give it, if you desired cows, I would give it, if you desired this I would give it. But the sacrifice of the Lord is a broken heart and a contrite spirit, God does not desire songs without a broken heart and a contrite spirit. God has specified that if there is no contriteness of heart and the brokenness of spirit, He does not want whatever you bring Him. He does not want it. He does not want it. The meaning of, I am looking for the original meaning of the word contrite, thank you Jesus. What is a contrite heart and spirit? Number one is to surrender to God, we will have said that. The keywords in this verse are broken contrite heart and spirit. Broken comes from the Hebrew word to break into pieces. It comes from the Hebrew word to crash, this is a crushed spirit. This is a crushed spirit. Number two, the contriteness of heart and the brokenness of the heart and the contriteness of the spirit means number two, brokenness of a sin. Look at the day, it feels hot when it is sinned. You will know that you have a broken heart and a contrite spirit by your reaction after sin. Is your heart saddened or do you just say I will repent? Do you just say I will repent? God does not despise it. I will teach about the brokenness of the heart. This translation says that going through the motions, please don't please you, a flawless performance is nothing to you, a flawless performance on a stage does not please Jesus. Performance is nothing to you, I learnt that God worship is when my pride was shattered, is when my pride was shattered, had shattered lives ready to love, ready for love, don't for a moment, escape, God's notice, the passion translation says that the fountain of your pleasure is found in the sacrifice of my shattered heart before you, you will not despise my tenderness as I humbly bow down to you of it. That is the meaning of a broken and a contrite heart. The question is do you have a broken and a contrite heart. This is the most expensive gift you can ever give you God. So Mary broke the alabaster box because she would not use it for anything else. This was so costly she could not use it for anything else. Many people are looted to the fact that she would have given in case as a gift of marriage but no this could not be used for anything else. If she had only taken the lead off it would have been used for something else. This box if we had taken she could take in the lead off and some of the figurants evaporated. This would have now been used for something else. But she made a complete sacrifice and broke the box. She made a complete sacrifice and broke the box. She said that all of it I am not keeping some from my boyfriend, I'm not keeping some from my girlfriend, I'm not keeping some from my boy, from my husband and some from my baby snow. They will come and drink from what I have in Christ. I am protein everything. That my life is not my own. My life is not my own. So she broke the box because she could not use it for anything else. Notice that when Moses smote the rock with a rod he broke the rock and water poured out. I will repeat that. Moses broke the rock and the rock produced water. Idiot's 300 men broke their pitches to let out light. Can we read that? Thank you Jesus. Thank you Jesus. Thank you Jesus. Anything that is broken releases you wonder why you don't do many sign anointing is because your heart is not broken. So the room cannot be filled with fragrance, the room cannot, it cannot. If your heart is not broken, the sacrifice of the Lord is a broken heart. Now, that is Numbers chapter 20 verse 10 to 13, the Bible says then Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock and he said to them, "Here now you rebels who shall we bring water out of you, out of this rock and Moses lifted up his hand and struck the rock with his tough toys and water came up abundantly in the congregation drunk and their livestock." And the Lord said to Moses, "Because He did not believe to me, I told you to speak to it." So this is another one, now, but the fact that it was broken by the hitting by the road. One of the ways to break the heart is through the ministry of the word. The Bible says then when they heard the word of God, they were pissed to their heart. The other, so the word of God is sharper than any type of edged sword. Hebrews 4 verse 12, I believe. The Bible also says that, "My word is a hammer shattering to pieces. The Word of God can break you." So if you want to offer God a broken heart, you must love the ministry. 'dia' — 'Dia' — 'dia' — 'dia' — 'dia' — 'dia' — 'dia' — 'dia' — 'dia' 'Twaswainha' – their hands, their pictures, pictures of vessels, 'waswainha' – and the three companies blew the trumpets and broke the pictures and held their lamps on their left hands and the trumpets in their right hands to blow with all and they cut the sword of the Lord and of Gidion. And they stood every man in his place round about the camp and all the host ran and fled. Isn't this beautiful? When the pictures are broken, light is released. Light is released. Jesus broke his own body on the cross that he might save the world. So those who would have the highest Christian experience must break their boxes. They must break their hearts. So you will not find that the saints of all ages have learnt how to break their boxes. They have learnt the act of offering broken hearts before the Lord. Thank you Jesus. Thank you Jesus. Now I want you to notice the fragrance. When Mary broke the alabaster books and poured it on Jesus, the house was filled with sweet fricans. When Jesus poured out his life on Calvary, earth and heaven were filled with the fragrance of his life. In the time a man breaks his heart, the fragrance feels heaven. And earth, that is why you will find that man minister might tell you in anointing because of brokenness. Brokenness. I have tried to synthesize what my name is teaching on the breaking of the ultimate because that one must be broken. It must be broken unless a seed dies. First with the ground and dies it abides alone. But if it dies, first with the ground and dies, it bears it alone. So even the art of fruitfulness is an art of death first. If Jesus had not fallen to the ground and died, he would not have been fruitless. Fruitfulness is the act of the breaking of the outer man. The breaking of the heart. Also when Jesus died at Calvary, thank you Jesus for this. When Jesus poured his life on Calvary, heaven and earth were filled with the fragrance of his life. The fragrant oil which she poured was a type of the Holy Ghost. So the Holy Ghost brings to us the very fragrance and the sweetness of heaven. They are men who are so broken. And because God has filled them, the Bible says do not be drunk with one. Where in Nexus B filled the Holy Spirit. The place where you are filled with the Holy Spirit is the heart and when that heart is broken and shattered. Any time, men smell the fragrance. The Bible says because your name is a fragrance. Your name is a fragrance, a virgin's love you. So any time a man lives a broken life, a broken life and with a broken heart, everybody around them that is why you can be around people and they just want to repent white because the Holy Spirit has been poured forth. Because that oil is a Holy Spirit. That preacher has been broken. That oil is a Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit is being ministered through a broken heart and that people cannot stand. You're not talking. But the broken heart does not require the speaking of words. It's broken heart. When you break that alabaster box, we don't hear this woman speaking a word. But the fact that her heart was broken speaks volumes. The men could see it. Even critics could see it. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus. It is the breath of Jesus in the heart. The vapour of the river of life. The perfume of the rose of charon. The rose of charon had very beautiful perfume. And the legs of prayer, after the three weeks to express, to release fragrance and through life, to through worship and through prayer. This is more in the sight of God than the outward house of religious form. If you do not have a broken heart, everything that you are doing. Everything that you're doing, do not be shocked if it is rejected. Now, this anointing oil. We all know about anointing oil, but we did not know that anointing oil was compounded of maya. Kalamas, cinnamon, atasia, which made in unison the most delightful order. Now, I will teach about this and the symbolic meaning. I will teach about this sometime this year. Oh, thank you, Jesus. There is an article I found about anointing oil. I'm going through it with very shortly. The holy anointing oil, compounded of maya, kalamas, cinnamon and kisha, which made the delightful order. But it was not as fragrant as holiness itself. This thing of perfect love, perfect peace, perfect faith, perfect joy, all poured into a purified heart. The fragrance of such a life soon stills through the home. It is felt in charge, it distributes itself through community and even goes around the world. The spices of salion can be smelt licks away from the sea, but the perfume of the holy street crosses seas and lands, builds the world. And even after hundreds of years, as fragrant as the first day, it started forth to bless mankind. This, the fragrance of the Holy Spirit is that fragrance. Let me explain. Is that fragrance which was poured for when the alabas, the box of Jesus was broken. The fragrance that was released with the Holy Spirit, that oil that was poured for was the Holy Spirit. That is what we call the anointing. That oil has not stopped and seized to smell good to this day. The sweet incense consisted of selected ingredients which were crushed and bitten into a fine powder and finally offered by fire. The sweet fragrance rose to fill the holy place of the old tabanacol in like manner when God takes us and breaks us and puts us in fire. It is then our prayers and tears ascend unto him as sweet smelling saver. So God often breaks our hearts and our affections that we may pour out prayers, our love and tears before the feet of Jesus. I told on Saturday that there are two instances that can cause the brokenness of a man, number one. Number one, when God breaks men, the Bible says that his word is as a hammer. When God breaks men, because they refuse to offer him a broken sacrifice of the heart, so he will cause situations such as heart breaks, he will cause situations such as loss. And in that moment he will, the Bible says in a message in the message translation in Matthew chapter 6 that blessed are you when you lose that which is most dear to you. Then will you be embraced by the one who is most dear to you. Now when you lose that which is most dear to you, then you are embraced. I told God I will not wait to lose something more, so that I give him a broken heart. God, I give you this broken heart, I will submit it to the hammer of the word and by the speed I will bring it myself as this prostitute woman. And I will pray to the God, I will say God, this is the sacrifice of virtue. So God allows situations. And even losses, there are people who lost their companies and came back running to God, and that is when their hearts were broken. Because aware you are this, that is where your treasure is. There are people who lost jobs, there are people who lost babies, there are people who have been burdened because God has caused that alabaster books to break. They have been giving sweets on that. Something has to be crushed. Something has to be broken for fragrance to be released. So both for the life, the life must be broken. Galash is the 20. For it is no longer I who lives but he who lives in me. The life must be a broken form of life for it to release fragrance. Worship, the heart must be broken to release both worship and prayer as sweet incense. So it is by the breaking and the crushing that fragrance is released. The order which filled the house, the order that filled the house that day still fills the church. 'Merry's fragrance' nefaf past away. That is why in 2nd Timothy 2015 the Bible. is that our lives are a fragrance presented to cry by Christ to God but his fragrance is specifically differently by all those who are saved and by those who are perishing. Praise Please Jesus. Please Jesus. Please Jesus. My life has been transformed. My life has been changed. My life has been touched. May we continue to break our last box. That which you think is the best way to do it. That which you think is the most dear to you. Bridge it before God. Remember you are an authentic fragrance. Nobody can worship the way you do. If God has given you a specific way to worship, worship in that way. He is pleased with you. Even if you like other fragrances, he likes your fragrance. May the Lord bless you. May He keep you. May He calls his face to shine upon you. Next time. Goodbye. Shalom, Shalom.
