Speaker 2Almighty God, we are here in your presence. We ask for one thing, Lord. Speak. By your word, let it come alive in our spirits. Satisfy the hungry and the thirsty soul. Exceed our expectations. Heal the sick. Save the lost. Run direction to he that is even confused. Lord, we are in your presence. Scripture is emphatic that your body is the temple of God.
Speaker 3So when various temples of God gather together in a space, it is a meeting place for temples of God. The four walls of this physical space is not the temple of God. It is a meeting space where temples of God gather. If you care to know how he puts it in
Speaker 2the English, this is an assembly hall. We assemble here. So when you read the book of Hebrews, he said, So we have the assembly hall or the space for the assembly. When we assemble, we come as the temples. So your body, your body, your body, and that body is the temple of God. This is an assembly hall. Even in heaven, the Bible talks about the fact that there is a place referred to as the general assembly. In Hebrews, the chapter number 12. You have come to Mount Zion. You have come to the city of the living God. You have come to that heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to God, the judge of all. You have come to the spirit of just men made perfect. You have come to the general assembly and the church of the firstborn. Church is not temple. Church does not mean temple. Church is totally different from a temple. What is church? Church is more than an assembly. Church is actually the. The executive hall for the assembly. You have come to the general assembly and you have come to the executive assembly. What does it mean? When we say the assembly, you see, a lot of you can come to the assembly and not come to the church. A lot of people come to the assembly on Sundays. And they never touched the church. They were in the assembly, but they were not in the church. Where then is the church and where is the assembly? When you read the word of God, the Bible says that after Jesus was dead and gone, the believers and the disciples. The disciples were meeting in the synagogue. And the rulers of the synagogue got angry and decided that the name of Christ should not be mentioned, people, in the synagogue any longer. For which reason, anybody that mentioned Christ was put out of the synagogue. They were put out of the synagogue. So Christ was totally separated from the synagogue.
Speaker 3John 9, 22. The book of John, chapter 9, verse 22. These words speak his parents because they feared the Jews. For the Jews had agreed already that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue. Please, can you read that in amplified?
Speaker 2In the message and also in the NIV.
Speaker 3His parents said this because they were afraid of the leaders of the Jews. For the Jews had already agreed that if anyone acknowledged Jesus to be Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue. That is to say, he would be excommunicated. The next. His parents were talking like this because they were intimidated by the Jewish leaders who had already decided, that anyone who took a stand, that this was the Messiah, would be kicked out of the meeting place. NIV. His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders, who already had decided that anyone who acknowledged that Jesus was the Messiah, would be put out of the synagogue. Now, give me that version that talks about the synagogue as the meeting place. The message version says, His parents were talking like this because they were intimidated by the Jews. His parents were talking like this because they were intimidated by the Jewish leaders, who had already decided, that anyone who took a stand, that this was the Messiah, would be kicked out of the meeting place.
Speaker 2Now, please hear this. I want you to follow what is happening before we even get into this matter. You will keep hearing, synagogue. Synagogue. Synagogue. Synagogue. Synagogue. Now, he said, his parents were talking like this because they were intimidated by the Jewish leaders who had already decided that anyone who took a stand that this was the Messiah would be kicked out of the meeting place. Now, watch here. This word synagogue comes from a word which is. The word synagogue means to gather together for entertainment. You are going to get it soon. Why a lot of you come to the meeting place but never touch the synagogue? But never touch the church? So, the sunage is. The gathering together for. For entertainment. And refreshing. Typical place that was referred to as a sunage.
Speaker 3Sunago. Sunago. To lead together. To convene. Collect or convene. To lead together. Specifically to entertain.
Speaker 2Hold on. I don't know why you are here. I don't know what brought you here. And I don't know why you do what you do when you come here. I know I'm supposed to deal with windows. The mystery of windows. But prior to that, I need to let you get why you are here. I said, a lot of people come to the assembly, the general assembly, and they never touch the church. They come to the general assembly and never reach the executive assembly. The church is not, people get it, the church is not the temple. Some of the times in our local language, you're tuning in Afra, I'm going to church. No, it's different. So, the assembly hall is as a sorry them. No, it's not. Take your time. You'll get it. The temples convene in the sunago. The sunago. Now, so, out of the sunago, we have what is known as a sunagoge, sunagog, synagogue. So, you see, the more reason why they called it the sunago was because in one big place, they had various aspects of halls for various meetings. So, there was a main hall. Then, there was the executive halls. There was the various courts. So, you realize that you have what is referred to as the outer courts. What was the outer courts? From which we have what we refer to in our legal system, the courts. Because the meeting place was empty. A convening place for entertainment. Now, watch this. The courts opened. rooms were not for entertainment. They were executive rooms for divine legislation and judgment. So when you went to the synagogue, there was the space referred to as the courts where judgment, legislation, and law is passed. I don't know why you are here today. Maybe you came to the synagogue, but you are not here for the church. What is a synagogue?
