The Devil Wears Prada 2 Wasn’t Camp | 79

The episode dives deep into the emotional turbulence of Summer House, focusing on the deteriorating relationship between Kyle and Amanda, whose seven-year marriage is marked by silence, anger, and lack of intimacy. The dinner confrontation—triggered by Lindsay's probing questions and Amanda’s public reference to Kyle’s Vegas trip—is criticized as manipulative and toxic, with the hosts noting how both partners avoid accountability. Kyle’s reactive, aggressive behavior and West’s proactive boundary-setting contrast sharply, with the emotional hug between West and Kyle standing out as a genuine, healing moment. The discussion also extends to broader cultural critiques, including the over-saturation of Instagram features like "Instance" and status updates, with the hosts advocating for more genuine, private forms of connection such as handwritten notes or phone calls. The episode highlights a deepening disconnect in male-female relationships, where emotional withdrawal and lack of effort on both sides prevent growth. A key critique of *Devil Wears Prada 2* is that it lacks authenticity, relies on forced cameos, and features a random, poorly executed plotline. The hosts conclude by promoting real connection over digital performance and announcing a live special at Tribeca Festival, where they’ll explore pop culture and relationship dynamics with guest Sydney Lemon. They also recommend Notorium skincare as a personal, effective solution for consistent, affordable skin care, emphasizing real-life, sustainable habits over flashy digital trends.

Okay, if you were rocking with original, let me say this, real ones, no. We fell into Love Island in like the craziest way possible. So just know that Summer House is our new Love Island. That we just might be doing a weekly check-in until we need to stop. Which might not be ever, actually. So buckle up. I swear we're talking about more than Summer House. But this episode, we will be getting into some Summer House updates. What else are we talking about? What else is on the docket? Devil Wears Prada 2, a little independent movie. Ever heard of it? And some Instagram updates. Mostly Instagram etiquette now that we have these new instant photos. Ugh, girl. Yeah, we got a long road ahead of us. And we got a lot to talk about. Are you looking for a safe space for your secret celebrity opinion? Do you need someone who understands your latest internet obsession? We are decade-long best friends who connect over fussing. And discussing. All things pop culture. We're your first stop after that TMZ push alert. From Higher Ground Audio, I'm Peyton Dix. And I'm Hunter Harris. And this. Is Let Me Say This. Let me say this. Let me say this. And of course, we're starting with, I can't wait to get an air horn. One day, it won't be me going into the mic. But we got to talk Summer House. Can we, let's start off with the most recent episode. And then let's get into some reunion stuff after. Does that feel good? Yeah, I like that. Okay. Okay. Let's talk about the lost dinner. Lindsay Hubbard invites everyone to sit around a table. It's the last dinner of summer. And she says, tell us something you lost and something you found this summer. There are so many meaningful answers, like from KJ, like from Sierra. And then Lindsay says to Kyle, I'll tell you what you lost. Your wedding ring. And what have you found? I'm telling you, Kyle Cook. Crashed out. He had a full crash out. And I'm not saying. Listen. He should not have looked across the table and told his wife, Amanda, fuck you. He should not have done that. And I am happy in some ways. I am happy. It feels very chivalrous. And also, you know, good friend that West physically moved his chair to sit by Amanda and say like, that's not okay. Like, don't talk to Amanda that way. Because I don't think it should only be the women calling out that behavior at table, at the table. It should be the boys too. So West doing that, I was pro. But then, girl, Kyle just can't take it. You know, I love that you said that you co-signed. I mean, knowing what we know now, obviously, it feels like, oof. But I love that you co-signed the physical boundary that he set up by moving over to her. And I wish more men would remember that men, because they're gay, they only respect other men. They only really care about, hear me, what? Other men. So it means so much to have a physical boundary and like someone actually vocalizing. You know, I mean, there is someone else who put up a physical boundary, a little too physical, but not in defense of Amanda. We'll get to that. We'll get to that. We'll get to King Kyle. No, King Carl. Not King Kyle, sorry. King Carl. Even better. Rolls off the tongue even better. You know I mix white boys up. But wait, okay. So where did we get into first? Do you want to talk about the fight? Do you want to talk about the hug? Do you? I mean, the fight in general, here's my feeling. It was so smug and nasty to me to watch Amanda sit back and like, and I think instantly, Lindsay, Lindsay's just a journalist. Lindsay just asked questions. She asked questions. Ain't nobody want to ask. She's low-key Andy Cohen's understudy. Like, she's not afraid to ask the hard questions. But something to me that felt so like, oh, what's the word? Like insidious and her kind of like licking her lip a little bit, watching everyone come for Kyle in this setting that clearly was not the place to be having this kind of conversation. Like she was acting like it was all hands off, but she started the whole thing to begin with and in an environment that didn't need to happen in. About going to Las Vegas or whatever. I want to. I think Lindsay started the whole conversation. Amanda, you're right, did bring up that Kyle's going to Vegas. The way she said it was clearly to kind of like dunk on him, get everyone to make fun of him. When Amanda shared that detail, it obviously was not maybe, you know, trying to start a conversation about it. But then when everyone else kind of starts piling on to Kyle, like being mean to him, she just kind of lets it happen. You know that I think that Amanda Petula has set feminism back a hundred years, but I do want to hold space for the fact. That, you know, maybe she needs Lindsay to bring this up in front of everyone because she doesn't feel emotionally safe or supportive enough to discuss this with Kyle like one-on-one. Because especially if he's saying stuff to her, like, fuck you. That being said, like, what is he saying to her in private? Exactly. If that's what he's saying to her in public. This is not the first time that Amanda has phoned a friend when it comes to talking to Kyle about something serious, i.e. Lindsay and the Vegas thing, Sierra. And the trial, physical separation. And it can't always, that can't always be the answer. And at some point, you know, you do have to stand up a little bit and say, you feel this way, he's your husband. And even at the end of this whole sequence, she is in bed with Mia and Sierra. And she says, if one of my friends had a boyfriend treating him this way, I would tell her to leave. So, okay. So she knows it's a problem. Absolutely. But I think that, you know, I mean, looking at their relationship, seven years of no sex. And that's a small, that's small potatoes to me. But I feel like it's the loneliest relationship I've ever seen. I'm like, they're both, again, holding space for Amanda. Also being equally as lonely as Kyle feels in this relationship as well. It feels so obvious when I'm watching them to be like, so there is no other option, but I think you guys need to separate and break up. I don't see how we're actually even considering any other way through. The way through is out, actually. That's the way through. But yeah, I don't know. It just, it was, it felt, his reaction is never okay. He's such a reactionist. He's such a reactive person, physically too, especially. But like, I think she just knew what she was doing. The way I was like watching her kind of like, like her lips around it. It's like she, she knew it was coming out of the situation. Maybe she didn't think it was going to escalate to that degree. But, and I'm not blaming anyone. It was all a shit show. It was all a mess. You know how white people act. But I, I do, I'm thankful though, because we got to see, as I've now, I've now called him King Carl. King Carl throw hands. King Carl with a dog. King Carl with a dog tag. Carl with a dog tag was crazy. Okay. So that's what I want to say about the West thing is that, you know, Carl in the moment was making it so much more about his drama with Kyle and how he and Kyle have felt very at odds or at least, you know, very distant all summer. And so Carl wants to buck up his chest and go chase after Kyle. Kyle throws a lover boy, his own brand, mind you. Many such cases. Like Carl is calling Kyle a loser. And then. Kyle has this line that's like, okay, look, here comes six, five. It's so like men, like you said, men do everything for other men. Like that was a lover's quarrel and I loved it, but you can see how after they, you know, after they separate, after like tensions cool, then Carl comes back to Kyle, you know, trying to find some middle ground. They come back and apologize, like try to find, figure out how can we build from this place. And, you know, I wasn't really hurt about him not investing in soft bar. He was hurt. Just in general. Whereas like Kyle and Amanda, I think we both, they both need to take accountability because neither of them are really interested in healing or moving forward from this relationship. Because, you know, Amanda said to Kyle, you always yell and scream, which is true. That's how Kyle addresses everything. But Amanda just goes silent treatment. And it's like, well, how's anything going to happen or grow or move forward if both of you don't want to change your behavior? I did, of course, think it was sexy watching him puff up his chest. Carl, but I think he kind of squandered his actual opportunity to say something real because at least the edit that we saw that played out, he had said to Kyle, no, like, I'm not really mad. It's like, no, you've been story. That reaction happened because you've been holding so much in and the way men love to close and lock. It's so and then it comes out physical because you want to punch a wall. Boys love to punch a wall. I hate that shit. But like, I do think that, like, there was an opportunity for him to say that, yeah, he actually really was hurt. And he was talking about Kyle. The whole damn summer about his frustration to everyone else. I felt disappointed to watch him have this opportunity and completely let it go. But you know what? The main thing for me is, I mean, I love a bromance at the end of the day. I like when boys kiss. I watch you do rivalry. But I will say everyone was talking all about that hug between Amanda and Wes. Let's talk about that hug between Carl and Kyle. That was so emotionally stirring to watch the two of them really, like, sink into each other. His Kyle's tears in his shoulder. I was like. Like, I shouldn't be getting a little horny about this, but I am. That hug really woke me up. That was a real hug of the show. They were boys together. And I've always said that about them. I've always said that. I think you bring up an interesting point, too. That, like, I think a lot of Kyle's reaction at this dinner was because this is maybe the 19th time this summer that he has heard intimate details about, like, a very close relationship coming from a third party. He heard about Kyle being mad at him all summer. From Jesse, from the other boys. He's now hearing about Amanda being mad at him. And how are they going to navigate, like, the rest of their marriage from someone else again. And that would also drive me crazy. On top of, you know, lover boy finances being in the toilet. On top of, you know, him just being a 42-year-old teenage boy, basically. Right. And I do think that he should grow up. But I think there's definitely a lot more happening between him and Amanda when it comes to whether they want to have kids or what their time is. timeline is, that's not being discussed at the table. And I sort of wish that Amanda had just that down sooner because that's not the business of anyone else at that table. And that is when it, in my mind, pivoted over into, okay, Amanda just wants to watch Kyle be punished, which coming from a broken place, I can understand that. However, it's not going to get them out of this bad spot. Then Kyle drops the bomb that they haven't had sex for seven years. People were trying to fax her to die, but I don't believe that was true. I think it was just a generalism. Of course it was hyperbolic. Yeah. Who's doing the number? Who has the time to be doing the numbers on that? Please. Especially Kyle and between all of his DJing. There's a cutaway of him talking to himself where he's just like, I think she's just basically too afraid to be on her own and also break up with me. And I couldn't agree more with him there because I think that she is so, you know what she was reminding me of, Hunter? And this is really specific and I can't believe I'm saying it on a hot mic, which is, do you remember when I was dating? And I said, I hate the way he. Debris. Yes. I'm like, so you might. This usually calls for an end of a relationship. And I was like, no, I'm going to stick it out for a few more months. It's like she, I see myself in her. Also, I was gay, but there are other things going on. But it was just like, when you have so much disdain for a person, there's clearly something that has to be let go of or immediately change and her inability or their maybe mutual. No, her inability to leave the relationship because you can still tell how much he actually wants to leave the relationship. And I think that's one of the things that's going on. And wants to be in it and work at it, even if he's not working well at it. Just shoot her, get off the pot, girl. I mean, don't let the other pot be bouncing on what sticks, but I guess that is what it is. Also, we can't talk about this fight without talking about our sister, our mother, our auntie, Mia. Oh, I'm so glad you brought it up because Mia, in the first half of the fight, simply sipping on her white wine saying, oh, something's going on at that end of the table that does not involve me. Cut to the boys are fighting outside. Mia says, okay, everyone, let's go back inside. It's time for us to go back inside. But corralling the women inside was hilarious. That's a mother to me. Literally, because you know, Bailey is like, oh, Carl, should we make out again so that you don't start fighting again? And Carl was like, I mean. I was like, not now. Focus. Focus. We have an agenda. I'm really happy. I'm having an intimate moment here with the closest person to me in this house. But I think that what you're saying about Kyle is right, that he is trying to imperfectly put effort into this relationship. But I do think that something else that's happening is that for so much of their relationship, Kyle did not prioritize Amanda. And now that he feels that back, now he's reacting super negatively. I think he's really reacting to feeling now her pulling away, her pulling back, her attention's going elsewhere. And he's really having a crash. He's really having a crash over it. But no, I think that the failure of this relationship is in both of their laps. So you know the scene where it's Mia, Amanda, and Ciara in bed. Kyle comes in and does his little apology. Someone commented I saw on threads asking, well, why is Ciara just involved in this conversation at all? And Ciara responded, do you mean why was I in my bed, in my room, where that scene took place? Yeah. I don't know. I think people are being a little bit too critical of Ciara because yes, maybe it was overstepping for her to address that separation with Kyle. However, Kyle is her friend too. I don't think she's overstepping. I think she's someone that very clearly takes her friendships, this is ironic now, very seriously and treats them with the same kind of energy she probably would a romantic relationship. And also the fact that they're all really good friends or real friends. It's not like housewives, right? Where it's like some of these, no shade to housewives, but some of these relationships are obviously very fabricated. This is a community of an actual group chat of like that really exists with people who have real relationships. So like their closeness and also the proximity of being in that house makes sense that you're a little bit more intertwined than a normal like friend of couple would be. But also to that scene specifically, not only yes, did he enter that room, it was on Amanda and Kyle to choose to separate that conversation. I don't think it should have happened in front of Mia and Ciara, but I don't think that was their responsibility at all to adjust who was present in the room. But honestly, the most haunting part of that whole episode though, was Wes Peaky Blinders hat. Did you see that? No. So if we are legally allowed to insert a peacock, give us the rights for this. It was, first of all, where'd he get that? Who did he rob? It was crazy sitting in bed with like a big, like, like crazy looking chain on. It might be a mic. I don't know. But then he's wearing a full, what is that called? Like newsboy cap. Yeah. In a way that it's like, there's no costume contesting or like party that needs this accessory. It was crazy. And it that's cute. So I just need to sit with that for a second. Well, your mom loves Peaky Blinders. That makes sense. Don't get her around Peaky Blinder. But Kyle, I was watching this. I don't know why this episode brought it out of me, but I was watching this episode thinking, I kind of need Lindsay and Carl to get back together. I'm not on the Bailey train. You would not. It's passing me by. Yeah. I like Bailey, but no, I don't see it for her and Carl. That's not adding up to me. However, Lindsay and Carl, I am with you. I am not a product of my parents' divorce. I'm a product of Lindsay and Carl's broken engagement because I do think that they just get along so well. And now that Carl has a job, has some ambition, has a business, whether or not that business is solid, you know, who knows? Who cares? But he's finally doing all the stuff that Lindsay said that she wanted him to do for them to keep going with their relationship. And I think that maybe they have a future together because they were really good friends before. I don't know. It's a little, yeah. I like it. I think it's cute. But, you know, I hate to take it here because, you know, one thing about a Leo. What? We know about other Leos. Kyle and Lindsay being August Leos and Amanda being a July Leo. Oh my God. Just, just say that. Just tell me that off top. And then I understand the dynamic. I know what time it is. It's just like a July. Jen and Ben before. It's just like a July Leo to, yes. J-Lo, August Leo, Ben. No, excuse me. J-Lo, July Leo, Ben, August Leo. I think it's just like a July Leo to act like, oh, woe is me. Woe is me. And then pop out and try to be main character. And it's like, girl, you don't have the range. You don't. You're not that girl. And I can smell it all over you. Yeah. I mean, some of us are natural before us. It's not my community, but that's not my community. I know I said it so defensively. You're not a Leo. No, I never will be. Never have been. And no Leo placements, by the way. And she just kind of finds me. I don't know why. You just can't. You just can't find it. It's okay. Speaking of Miss Leo, who do you identify the most with in the house? Like, who would you say you are? And maybe give me a complicated answer. Like, your big three of Summer House. Like, who are you? Tell me. I'm going to say I am Sierra's son, Lindsay Moon. Yes. And I'm Jesse Solomon Rising. Jesse Solomon. I'm just happy to be anywhere. Yes. And you know I love a big smile. Oh my God, very that. Okay. So now I need you. Who's your Summer House big three? I think I am Sun Page, Rising Mia. Hear me out. Moon West. I'm a Libra Moon. I'm a Libra Moon. I'm coming clean as a Libra Moon. But he's also, I mean, he's a piece of shit for what he's doing. And I'm not identifying with that. I'm a Libra Moon. I'm a Libra Moon. But he's also, he is funny. Clearly. Charming. He's not funny. He's not charming. I think he is funny. I will say watching it, I first, when I didn't know anything, I just looked at a photo, I got scared. But when I'm watching it back, it's like he has clearly has like a charisma to him. I would have, I think of all the boys, I almost said Moon Kyle, but I'm not, that's a Venus Kyle. I'm a Venus Kyle, if you want to find out the MB. But like, I, yeah, I'm going to stick with that. What do you, I think about West is funny. He's just a silly goose. That's not funny. That's not a comedian. But I'm a silly goose. You're not a silly goose. That's kind of my vibe. No. What kind of goose? I think that you have, I think that you have a Carl placement. I think you have a Carl placement. Because you have a big, big heart. Oh, but that's like, yeah, maybe that's Venus. Maybe my Venus is Kyle. I mean, sorry. I hate their white names. They're too similar. I'm Venus Carl. Because I'm a big lover girl. But I do think Mia Rising lover girl too, though. Yeah. I think she's like, is someone that, I think she has a big heart and a big ass, just like me. We really go together, her and I. So. I love that. Mia, come on the pod. We have to key. Good God, we need this. Okay. Devil wears Prada too. Love her or hate her. A lot of people are telling lies. I'll say that. Okay. Because I'm a hater. Sorry. Sorry. We didn't get the gang back together for this. For all this. What about you? I'm not love her or hate her. I'm worse. I'm indifferent. I'm indifferent. Okay. Yeah. I can respect indifferent. And I can respect indifferent being worse. I didn't love it. Yeah. Well, I mean, I feel like, damn, to not even care. I'd rather someone hate me than not care about me. And I just watched it saying, and that's a movie. Anyway, so, you know, like, I mean, I thought that I saw it only like a day ago. And so in my head, I was like, oh, that might make it. That might make it even better for me because I like consuming things like a little bit outside of the zeitgeist or like when it's less like out of the marketing. We're not talking about it as much. Not like the other girls. I'm not, like, I watch things late. Yeah, I don't know. I thought that would help, like, me embrace the campiness of it. But it wasn't even camp. I just, like, my main thing was, like, I wanted both Miranda and Emily to be bigger cunts. Yeah, 100%. That's a little too tender queer for me. Tender queer? Oh, my God. Here comes a radical left. I think you're right. A few things that I want to touch on that really rubbed me the wrong way. So many incredible people in this cast, and yet the cast was so big that it seemed like no one got any screen time. And I am happy that, like, the core three, Miranda, Nigel, and Emily came back. But when you have a cast of, like, Caleb Herron, Daniel Liu, Pauline Chalamet, like, even cameos from, like, Carl Anthony Towns and Lady Gaga, every single person gets, like, one line. And instead, we get. We get the same scene over and over again of there being cuts at, like, the Condé Nast, you know, kind of publisher, how will Runway survive, budgets are going nowhere, whatever. And it just felt like we were doing that again and again and again. Although it does feel very meta to me that in this movie about how brands are the only people or the only things, like, with power or with leverage because they have all the money, the Dior product placement, the Dior ad buy was loud. I know. I have the same feeling, though, about the cameos. I was like, there's just too many, though, at this point. And then it started to feel there were so many that it didn't feel special or fun. And it only started to feel like, ironically, a marketing play to be like, oh, if you cast all these people, then they're going to engage with it, post about it. We're going to tap into their fan bases, which isn't a bad strategy, but it feels when it's so obvious, it starts to feel gross. Yeah. I don't know. Watching the credits at the end, I was like, the blanks as herself. It just went and went and went. Some of the people I was like, I didn't even see you in there. I know. So a lot of the cameos were both in the fashion week stuff and then at Miranda's Hamptons house. And the original movie did not require all those cameos. I mean, it really had Valentino. Maybe there was a Marc Jacobs cameo. I can't remember. But it wasn't so much about the fashion. It was more about just the toxic boss, eager to please assistant dynamic. And this one had none of that. There was none of the ridiculousness of Miranda. It's like she's a totally different person now. And not because she's weird. She's not woke. But just because she has nothing to do, like no vision. Whatever happened to Miranda is just like. And she's not woke. No, it just felt kind of ridiculous to me that I'm supposed to believe that this is the same person who is like the visionary editor who is confident. And okay, case in point, what do you mean there are budget cuts and the staff has to fly economy and Miranda is going to fly in row 37D? Because listen, she's rich. Don't piss me off. That didn't even make sense to me. That did not make sense. Even if it was budget cuts, she would have just upgraded her own flight. Or she wouldn't even need to upgrade. She would have already been on a list to be first. That's what I mean. You know what I mean? It was so silly. I thought the punishment was her going to first versus flying private. And then I was like, wait, she keeps walking? Like, what the hell? It was so confusing. That to me was just like, this is not really. Not that it has to be realistic, but it's not true to the character. It's not consistent to the character that the woman who orders the same steak every single day for lunch is going to like not get herself out of economy or that she's not going to kill her assistant for even making her look back in economy. I just need to give a quick little PSA to the Anne Hathaway stans. The real ones. There's real ones and there's clearly fake ones. I was a fake one. I'm going to be honest. I'm not a liar. Well, not anymore. And I think that you really have to rock with her. You really have to stan Anne Hathaway to get down with this movie and her performance in it. I struggled so much. I did enjoy when she put on her Ella Enchanted bust down, when she put on the. Nice, long, straight, wait, love. But why was she crying almost every other scene? Her eyes are watering every other scene. I was like, girl, just let it out if you need to. I don't know what is happening here. But that performance was difficult for me. Painful, in fact, at points. Really? I. Yes. Well, okay. I mean, especially next to. Sorry, Emily Blunt. That's my. That's my girl. Some incredible line readings off of her. I felt like it was hard to enjoy Anne Hathaway's performance when I was just like so elated, watching Emily Blunt. And I kind of believed in their crazy, stupid love. Emily and Andy. The billionaire. Yeah. No, no, no. Emily and the billionaire. I kind of was rocking when they were talking about trimming his ear. And he's like, and the lawnmower for the rest. And he was like, I don't know. Something about their dynamic. It worked for me. But you know, I'm toxic like that. So there is that. Totally. But you were rocking with Anne? A little bit. Because Anne's rocking with me. No, I did feel like at least, you know, Anne Hathaway's primary scene partner was Mineral Streep, who did not seem to want to be there or did not seem super invested in it. And at least I felt like Anne Hathaway committed. Over. But that's what she does. She overcommits. Yes, but also remember, and I mean, I just watched the first movie a couple weeks before and like rewatched it. And at the core of Andy is someone who is very sentimental and very nostalgic and very like sensitive, which is an annoying part of her character, you know, Andy's character. But that is a pretty important part of her. And so, you know. That she over indexes into that in this movie wasn't so surprising to me, but I did have a real problem with Meryl Streep. It's like she is playing someone totally not. It's like Miranda really was like the bottom eyes. Completely different. Completely different character. And they were dressing her like a magician. Every outfit felt like she was about to pull a rabbit out of her hat. It was. Well, she was trying to pull out a magic trick, which is getting people to read magazines in 2026. Well, wow. We're having a real conversation now. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We're like pull out cigarettes. But now I'm going to put on a cigarette to talk about the real biggest problem. Oh, my God. Talk about it. Talk about it. So we need to talk about the boyfriend, this Australian boyfriend that Anne Hathaway finds in Brooklyn in my neighborhood. By the way, I I passed by them shooting stuff outside of that apartment building and Remy tried to get a cameo. Didn't work. I want to say, though, where did they find that boyfriend? Who who did he blackmail? Who did he know? Who? Who? Who did he kill? I don't know. They had not. Not only they had no chemistry, but I'm like, you don't even have a reason to be here. Well, that's the main thing. I was like, we don't even need this plot point. This is so random. Like, and also, I mean. He was an Australian. Me being like, and I. The Australian accent honestly didn't help to me. I was like, well, but I'm not straight girls go crazy for accent. Sometimes I think that's like a thing. Not that accent. That was hard. That was really hard. That was really, really hard for me. And we just simply didn't need it. Like, save the screen time for something else. He truly just seemed like a body in a room. Like, what did he add? And there's no real conflict besides one difficult conversation. I'm like. Exactly. And I'm like, low-key, bring back Adrian Grenier. Like, we need someone who's going to like bark back. Who's going to be like, I went to, I got these like nine other strawberries just for you to have an attitude. Like, come on. We needed that back. Honestly, I was on his team. But he. Him doing that Starbucks commercial where he was like, I get it. We all hated Nate, but I would have loved to call to come back. Did you see that commercial? Yeah, I did. It's honestly so funny. It's better than half the commercials they were doing to promote this damn movie where he was like, you know, I'm available. And guess what? He looked fucking good, mate. He looked. Of course he looks good. He doesn't have a job. He doesn't have anything to do except for work out and soak up the sun. There's this montage sequence of her writing. And when I tell you the pen went from here to here. It was so, it was so, I love the performance of writing. I mean, it felt like, like public reading to be like, okay, she's, she's working on something. She's cooking on something. I just wish that there are more scenes that were more active and not just scenes of like, can I get the interview? How's the interview going to go? Oh, what, what's the traffic on this page? Like, that was just boring. Yeah. What's the traffic on this page? And also like the owner of a magazine or a series, whatever, is not calling about like an individual article flopping. Like. What kind of time do you all have? Well, it depends on the article. A lot, I guess. Depends on, you know, there's been some cases. BJ Novak popping up in this movie was like the most random thing. I can't even get into that. I said, get out of here. But Lucy Liu, need her a lot more. I love looking at her face. Oh, absolutely. Absolutely. I love listening to the sound of her voice. That's a woman. Do you want a Devil Wears Prada 3? No, I'm okay. Thank you. How are you? We're good. We're good. We're done. I'm, we're wrapped up. We don't need it anymore, but I'm glad that we now know. I'm glad that we now know. Huge news. Breaking news, even. We are coming to Tribeca. We are doing a special Let Me Say This Live episode June 11th at the Tribeca Festival Podcast Stage. But we're not just coming by ourselves. We're bringing our friend Sydney Lemon, star of the drama, Succession, Tar, Job on Broadway, and we'll be hosting. It's a one-night-only special live event. It's the festival's 25th anniversary, so you're not going to want to miss this. The event is June 11th at 6 p.m., and you can buy tickets right now at tribecafilm.com slash audio. And just because some of y'all don't listen sometimes, I'm going to say it again. That's tribecafilm.com slash audio. See you there. Okay, real talk. I have spent so much money on skincare that looked incredible on the shelf and then did nothing for my skin. The packaging got us every single time. And then I'd, like, drain my bank account. stay consistent with something that wasn't doing anything for my skin. And see, that's where Notorium changed everything for me, specifically their Glow Getter Bundle. It is everything in a shower in one. It's fantastic. Write it down. It's that girl I'm telling you now. Okay, but then the body scrub, the body oil, the whipped body butter. I mean, my skin looks expensive and it feels expensive. And the gag is, it's not expensive. It's actually affordable enough to keep up with and stay consistent with. Notorium is clinically effective. It is dermatologist tested and it is even pH balanced. And they have the Consistency Club where you can earn points just for reordering, which means that your empty bottles can refill themselves, basically. Your empties earn points. I mean, I love that for us. I love it for you. I love it for us and I love it for you. Give your skin the glow up it deserves. Go to Notorium.com slash Lemme, that's L-E-M-M-E, for 10% off the Glow Getter Bundle. That's Notorium.com slash Lemme. So there's just about. 14,000 Instagram updates as of late. Imagine how tired we are of it now. The most recent one, and I'm curious if you've dabbled, have you gotten to Instance, which is that new disappearing photo feature that shows up kind of like in your DM sections, I think? Have you dabbled in the dark arts? Well, so the thing about Instance is that there was an app called Be Real where you just post an ugly photo of yourself. Yeah. At the same time, you post an ugly photo of yourself. And now that exists on Instagram. And it's like, why would I want that again? I didn't like that then. I do feel like most of the feedback to Instagram always is like, I actually want less and less and less from this app. Like, I don't need as many options. Bells and whistles. Yes, totally. Like, the fun part of it was really just photos. And like, yeah, we obviously are a vertical scrolling nation now. But like, we don't need more things to get in my way of just trying to see what my friends are up to or my crush. Yeah. Like, yeah. Yeah. I just feel a little bit over. I mean, I will say one small thing. I kind of am rocking with the reordering of the carousel. Because sometimes. Oh, that's key. I'm in the trenches doing a dump. That when I'm curating an Instagram dump, you would never believe how hard I'm working. Like, there's sweat coming down. I'm in a sports bra just in case. And so now. I mean, I do multiple drafts. Oh, of course. Of course. Of course. I mean, like, actually, I also sometimes screen record, send it to Evan Caleb, be like, does this feel good? Do we have. Are we aligned? It's so deeply unserious and so very strict for some of us. But yeah, I do appreciate that. Because sometimes, like, a video needs to come up further than the random photo. That I understand. I think that the best, just of all of these updates, the most useful to me are being able to hide or reel from your, like, main page, like from the feed. And then also to be able to repost. I like the repost feature. And I like that it exists. Kind of like only on one tab. That is also very helpful to me. Instance, never going to use it. Don't need it. Every ones that I tap through, I'm like, I'm just seeing, like, up your nose. Like, I don't need to do this. We don't need to, like, pretend that this is, like, that kind of place. However. We don't do that here. No, it's not that kind of place. What's her name? Now, get them banned. Well, we don't do that here. I'll tell you what we need. What we need is to know what order they show who's viewed your story. Because I'm telling you, I am like the boy from Spy Kids. All the little glasses. I'm deep scrolling, trying to figure out, okay, has this crush seen it? Has that crush seen it? Oh, he hasn't seen it yet. Let me keep it up for a little bit more. Like, I'm doing a, like, long division to figure out what crush has seen what story when. And that's why you talk about the crushes who are on close friends. Okay. I mean, you know, famously, that's my whole bread and butter. I'm like. If you want to know how to hoe out on Instagram, you call me. It's a fee, but you call me. Okay? I've been taking notes since 1994. But I will say, I also am always curious of, like, when they show who's watched the story, is it based off of my interactions with them or their interactions with me? Like, how much it's like, are they showing up higher because they look at my profile a lot or are they showing up higher because low-key, I'd be looking at their profile a lot? And I need to know. And not even low-key. No, I definitely know that it's like, like, people that you follow or follow back, you know, are prioritized at the top. Of course. But still, it's like. Yeah. I will say, to go back for one thing, I've struggled. I've, like, posted on this board, but I've struggled with the repost option only when it comes to politics because I feel like it becomes a little lackadaisical to hit a repost button without having to, like, like, really attach your name to it in a real way, right? Like, to be like, I stand with X thing, but I do really love it as, like, almost in a way, it kind of acts like a save folder for me so I can go back to my repost and see, like, what I've engaged with, especially if it's something, yeah, like, politically important or just kind of really funny and I want to show it to someone. But I've turned around to it. I feel like I'm more open to it now and I got, like, anxious about it before. Whenever you wrote about this on Instagram a couple months ago, I think, I think, like, that really was a reframe for me in terms of sharing stuff to my story. However, the repost feature to me is, like, here's a funny video of a dog that I saw that I'm going to send to 10 people anyway, so I might as well just share it to the whole feed. Like, that's how I, that's how I think about the repost feature. Oh, you're a giver. You're a giver. I didn't realize. Yeah. Yeah, that's a community effort. That's a front line for black dog content. Yeah, I am. I do it for the people. You really are actually, you really be reposting from Remy. Remy's account is actually more active sometimes than your account. Oh, Remy will tear up a reel. Oh, she loves being on reels. Okay, let's play a little game of love or hate her. Love it. Social media etiquette. Lover or hater liking an Instagram story as an act of flirtation. Absolutely hate it. Hate it, babes. I'm very pro. If you're going to flirt with me, do it with your chest. Let's be serious. Let's be grown about it. You know what I need? Because I'm a real lover. A handwritten note. Where's the handwritten notes? Where's a voicemail these days? And not a voice memo. A voicemail. I want you to call me on the phone. I'm not going to pick up. You're going to leave me a voicemail and I'll call you back. That's real lover stuff. Liking a story, that's regular to me. You're just anybody. That's how I feel. It's too little. Like my parents' friends like my stories on Instagram. That doesn't really do anything. Even if they don't even know what they're doing. Right. They're just liking it because they said, good job. We love it. Lover, hater, close friend stories. I'm a lover of close friend stories. And I'm a lover too of the random boring ones. Because not everyone needs to know. Not everyone needs to see me in all my glory all the time. I love a little embargo. I love a little gatekeep. I love a little, not for public consumption. This is between you and I. I love that. You are so a big fan bitch to post her meal on like, I made dinner. And you're like, so that implies that I cook. And it also implies that I take photos of food, of plates. I don't do that anymore. You know how it turns out. You love a plate. You love a pickle plate, girl. I never post it though. I never post it. Your phone eats first down. That is so easy. No, I'll post a tablescape. I won't just post a plate. Excuse me. She pulled out. I'll post a tableau. Fuck off. Oh my God. You sound like doodle photography. Okay, keep going. Okay, lover or hater screen time notifications, Ms. Bricked Up. I, hater of screen time notifications. I know. I'm already here. I know. Big lover of Brick though. Okay, like I need to be locking myself out. I am both the warden and the prisoner. Okay, I love Brick. And this is like, Brick, sponsor me. Brick, actually, you don't even need to. That's how much I love the product. Okay, I've been like pushing these on people in a crazy way. But my Brick has changed my life in terms of like, over-consuming on social media. But if I'm already on the app, I don't need the app that's breaking my brain to tell me it's breaking my brain. Like, that's private. That's between me and God. Okay. Well, I have, I have that feature turned on and every day, it's like you've been on Instagram for an hour today and I just click ignore. And then it honestly just messes up Instagram even more when I'm trying to post something. I get that notification and I start all the way from the beginning. Absolutely. It's, yeah, I don't, I don't like it. Don't need it. Don't want it. Last one. And this is pointed. Lover or hater, hater of status updates, Hunter. And by status updates, you mean like that little add a, add a note at the top of your photo? Sure, that's what I mean. That's what I mean. I love it. I like that you're playing coy. I love it. I love it. One thing Hunter's gonna do. Because when I'm in, when I'm in Los Angeles, I love to put a little LA and see, and see who, who reveals themselves to me. Who, who might be here as well. Like, the sluttiest thing you can do, just for the, for the record, the sluttiest thing you can do is update your status with what city you're in. Not a, I'm in your city, bitch. That is Hunter Yvonne Harris when I tell you that she specifically, and I'm outing her ass, not just will update like LA, but low-key when it disappears, she'll update it again. That's what, whore behavior. That's crazy. And I screenshot, I said, oh, she's stupid. She like added a heart. I was like, girl, we know where you are. No, I did worse than a heart. I added a, a sun emoji. Oh my God, get up. So people know. Whoever is Hunter's trade in LA, just text her. Okay. Y'all just need to figure that out privately. All right. We don't need to be a part of it. That's my real, that's my real PSA. I feel like Needy Leagues is not one house where I just closed the camera. Yeah. I would understand if you did. I just had to say it on the record to get you together. God forbid. I just want to make myself, you know, everyone always says I'm so strict. I'm so intimidating. I have to go the extra mile every mile. Me knowing you and I'm like, who ever said that? I'm like, I don't, looking around, looking at the table. But that to me, I was like, was like oh that's real hunter harris that's real that's real leo behavior she in your city she don't let you know absolutely barcelona i'm in barcelona if anyone knows who you know in barcelona i was like oh girl i'm trying to meet someone maybe yeah stupid um but i'm very pro obviously i should say i'm pro ho all the time obviously on record oh pro ho all the time okay well next time i update my status i hope to get a like i hope to get a boosting for visibility we'll see we'll see i repost on how i play my cards okay what update from instagram do you guys actually want which what updates do you actually like how let us know or dm us um if you're in our city dm hunter your body is always changing and those changes can feel like a lot to navigate alone weight that won't budge skin that starts to show signs of change hair loss mood swings midi health gets it because midi was built for exactly this by women for women their clinicians specialize in the hormonal shifts that occur throughout your life so you're not getting generic care you're getting expertise for exactly where you are midi is the trusted virtual care clinic for women's health with specialists trained to treat everything from weight changes to skin care sleep mood and hormonal health they listen they dig into root causes and they build you a personalized care plan with treatments that fit your needs you shouldn't have to keep guessing and with midi you won't midi visits are available in every state and covered by most insurance plans so expert care that actually sees you more accessible than you think book your first virtual visit today at join midi.com that's join m-i-d-i.com hi i'm nicole phelps global fashion news and features director at vogue and co-host of the run-through podcast each week on the show our listeners get an all-access pass into the world of vogue on tuesdays join me as i interview influential designers like calvin clark and rachel scott and simone bellotti on thursdays join chloe mal head of editorial content at vogue us and choma nadi british vogue's head of editorial content as they explore fashion through the lens of culture with guests like doja cat and margot robbie listen and watch the run-through with vogue wherever you get your podcasts and vogue's youtube channel
