I'm like, yeah, absolutely. She's like, no, no, you don't understand. It's going to mean a lot to the guys. And wait, did you just say yes? Like, yeah, like a thousand percent. And the way it worked out, like it was, you know, army stuff, super last minute. We didn't even get approved until 10 hours prior. And I was the only one that could actually make it out. Yeah. So I went out to, uh, Dubai, then I'm on Jordan, then to the, uh, JTC, uh, the base in Jordan, and then out to, uh, K fab and did, uh, two shows in both those places and met with a lot of the guys there. It was fucking awesome. Well, you did two shows. Yeah. Oh, I thought you just did one show. No, I did too. Oh, so the, the biggest thing that got me that I felt fucking terrible about because they were putting the flyers out, like the unsubscribed show is here. So like fat electricians going to be here, Eli, donut operator. And then Brandon shows up there and like, you basically did like a, a standup show. Oh, for the troops there. I've never done standup in my entire life. How'd you whip that out? I think that was a small crowd of like thousands. It was like, I think at K fab, we had like over a thousand troops there. It was, it was, dude, it was a fucking great time. I love those guys. Like I've always gotten along with the military dudes, like super well. So like that was, that was a lot of fun. But, uh, oh, don't worry. Your one request was like, Hey, there's no one. So I can't do a live show. I'm like, Hey, the only time I've ever done a live show was with like five other co-hosts. Yeah. Like on like a podcast. We can play off of each other and like tell the jokes with the months and prep getting like, that is a set we work on to get there. And I was told, I basically told him like, look guys, I'm still down to come out. I'd love to meet with the soldiers that are out on the ground. Um, can't do the show, uh, but I'll do anything else you want, like serve food, whatever, whatever you want. Like I'm, I'm, I'm down to do it. Handed a microphone, like with an hour's notice. Because, because we thought they, they offered it to us and we're like, no, like your kids come in, in a town. Like I want to be here for the 4th of July with my kid. And Brandon went out there and you didn't know it was going to be like an unsubscribed podcast. I did not. And so we can't riff off of each other. Like we do in our live shows. I did. I did. However, like it was a great time. I think everybody there had a good time. Um, but I did get a video and, uh, chase her friend, please pull it up. Three, two, one. I don't know what I'm doing. It was, it was a fucking phenomenal time. I really, I really did enjoy it. All you guys out there, every single person, like from the Texas boys, the, the state guard guys, um, the 82nd, everybody like our, our, you know, our contingent, you were incredible. It was top five trips of my entire life. I enjoyed the hell out of it as a veteran. I will say, thank you so much for doing that. Cause I mean, we discussed it when we were at the, uh, at the racing thing, it was still like, Hey, what you're doing is awesome. The troops are going to be super supportive. My biggest worry was also, I'm like, man, I don't want to have them being forced to do something they don't want to, but as you're saying, it was like very positive, which is awesome to hear. Cause you are that break in. Cause I was scared of that too. Yeah, no, I paid my whole way. I don't know. Yeah. That's why I love it. And it just a giant, thank you for doing that. Like from, cause I got your concern too. Cause you were like, dude, I don't want to go out there and do this, like cringe, like mandatory fun. Like you have to show up and pretend you're having a good time kind of shit. But apparently like these guys, since the beginning of a operation, epic fury, they've been like on lockdown. They've not been able to do like re no, no recreational shit. Like they've just been locked the fuck down. So this is the first time they've ever been able to have a gathering like that. I didn't even think about it. Cause we would have like, it would be those shows or anything. And the last thing when you're running missions all the fucking time, you're like, dude, I just want to sleep. I didn't even think about like the opposite effect where it's you're on lockdown. So you have no idea if you get, like, you're looking forward to a break. And as you found out a lot of the, it's hard to get people like any kind of celebrity a lesbianist youtuber over there right now versus back in the day so they really look forward to that and it was wild i don't know where uh two-star general lambert what he does overseas but uh you guys found each other and i got a text from him and this is again a two-star now i deployed with and he's like hey you coming to it am i gonna see you and jordan on july 4th and you did on july 4th which like you sacrificed your own it was july 4th on the on america's 250th birthday that's like i would have loved to have been back in the states that was that was my answer to their question like they're like yeah we're having a hard time getting people to go out there because nobody you know they don't want to be outside of america on america's 250th birthday i'm like yeah well neither do these fucking guys like they don't want to be out there on eli the only thing i'm taking away from this is that brandon turmoil because he wouldn't stop complaining he's a bullet to the jugular no big deal all right the best way to do this to lead up story wise why do your cameramen get shot what do you do real quick did you dock his pay for being down on the job exactly i was like why didn't you duck and leave you know the five rules of dodgeball it applies with gunfights too uh i picture you yelling at the next day wow okay first off how long did it take for you to grab the camera and start recording again second because he grabbed the camera and recorded himself after yeah well i agree with kelly let's start with the start from the beginning yeah let's go from the beginning what because we haven't had you on here in like two years did your cameraman get shot with you above um yeah so i do documentaries all around uh the country and the world and uh the only times that i've been shot at have been when i've been doing documentaries about uh different neighborhoods and gangs and stuff so the time when my cameraman got shot we were doing a documentary about the bloodhound gang not the not the band but the group of rappers in chicago and we were at a music studio called fort knox in chicago at three in the morning we hosted a picture together at the studio so i guess people saw that they stalked us waited outside the recording studio until 3 a.m as soon as him uh i mean yeah but he's not from there he's from philly so it really made no sense and they had i don't i don't want to say too much about it but they knew they definitely knew who they were shooting at you know what i mean um so we left at three in the morning as soon as we closed the door behind us uh i think five gun fired over 60 rounds close range with switches and i was with five people four of them got shot including my camera guy so dear god what was the range like the distance between you and the shooters probably like 15 yards 20 yards it was close that's pretty tight yeah it was like the switches are completely useless like at any sort of thank god for switches or i'd be dead right now we need to make more hand those out yeah free needles it's that free needles and switches the new seattle program these rapper stories so i do think it is interesting to cover because a lot of the hood videos i did in 2024 like every one in that video is either uh you know passed or in jail so it's like capturing a crazy moment literally every single one not everyone but like yeah the big names a lot of the big names and a lot of those videos they also couldn't do that or they could choose not to yeah that's what i'm saying yeah like yeah ready i'm not i'm not pro hood warfare i don't think they should be shooting each other it's like you like it's capturing it it's i i appreciate you doing it because you get to see that other side and you know now you're like what the like i do people rationalize some of this behavior where you're like oh okay so this is okay with uh what they're doing and then you come back to normal yeah it's pretty crazy the street politics and street vengeance but yeah it's it's interesting because like out of the past 12 videos i've done i think only two of them have been hood videos but it's definitely the videos that people gravitate to the most you know what i mean or the hood videos but yeah like the majority lately i haven't even been doing you know that kind of he's like hey i'm the guy from this video i saw your internet comments and i've decided i've completely changed my mind and so he did another like parody video of that he's like i'm sorry buddy you want to quit that's okay you can tomorrow we'll try again and then we'll quit again like it's okay if anything gets hard in life just quit it's not a problem you'll have no negative effects on this whatsoever awesome dad right there yeah proper like this is how stupid you sound yeah one of the craziest things when i was a teacher is you couldn't take uh there was like no punishment so you couldn't give kids suspension unless the police were involved you couldn't take their recess there was like no um you couldn't you know there was no you couldn't suspend kids without the police no like if a kid stabbed another kid with scissors the only way you could suspend them was if a police report was filed at least in montgomery county maryland where i taught um that's so essentially like a kid would strangle another kid and if you if i took his recess then to like you know talk to him about what he did and punish him i would get in trouble so what they would do if the kid misbehaved is they would give him a laptop to play video games and if you just think about that like this positive reinforcement for negative behavior dude if i mean if if i could still like do my job and get and get to play video games if i around i would wreck this set right now and go smash my laptop and crush premiere pro you know what i mean and just play games because you know you're like incentivized at that point to not do the right thing you know what i'm saying oh a thousand yeah no no no that is wild i know when ryden had that one kid that like this is like first grade kindergarten like little ryden and the kid ryan went down the slide and then another kid went down and ryden didn't move fast enough and uh so he got like bumps or something and ryden was like oh i am sorry and went to hug the kid to say sorry and the kid pushed him down we got called to the school they're like hey incident recess this kid pushed down the kid but uh he said sorry so just if brian says anything that's what happened i was like okay well if it happens again you're gonna have to call the parents here and they're gonna have to talk to me i promise it's gonna go a different way so are we good and they're like oh uh-huh like you gotta see it's like oh he's gonna handle it like with the parents i'm like i do not with that about what age did uh was it like very apparent that uh ryden was dealing with autism two to three two to three okay so this is like well after yeah this is three years after and you could like it's writing like he has his voice and how i am sorry and like he was in the special needs class for that stuff so it was like hey general gin pop special needs with the gym pop you were gonna do like the true detective season two just beat the out of the dad like you do it again listen kid watch this this is for you what do you do if a kid is throwing your child to the ground at school you go and you threaten you know the right and you go and you go and you go and you go you go talk sternly to the teachers and then tell them to let the parents know that you want to also sternly talk with them and that usually rectifies situations and if it doesn't the same thing that uh the nascar driver kyle bush passed away from uh pneumonia so you have like infection in your lungs and then it gets into your bloodstream and it shuts all your organs down same thing that ben askren had that rotted away his lungs he had to get a lung transplant because like if you look at the before after of ben askren like it was pretty serious that's what he had yeah oh i didn't realize that was pneumonia yours was bad but i'll let you tell that because it's wild yeah i mean i had like a stomach a stomach condition for like about like two months where i was vomiting like every day or every few days and we couldn't figure out what was going on i'd been to the hospital four times and then one morning i woke up my feet were completely swollen like huge you know what i mean like you could almost pop them it felt like and i was deaf and uh luckily my water retention or like yeah just i don't know if it's water retention or blood or whatever um and they took me to the emergency room and they immediately put me in an ambulance sent me to dallas uh medical city and i was in icu for two weeks and it was like a whole week of the doctor essentially not knowing if i was gonna live or die because my ejection fraction which is how much blood your heart pumps to your body was at like between eight and twelve uh what it should be in a healthy person it would be like 75 percent so yeah it was horrible i feel like i was suffocating because i couldn't breathe out of my lungs my uh heart wasn't beating enough blood to my body so never like intubate you or like did it not matter because your heart wasn't working right that was like yeah the next step would that for them to be like put me uh you know on like a feeding tube or a calm induced coma or whatever but luckily i didn't get to that point they were really considering the last few days before things got positive um putting a pacemaker in because that's like what helps your uh heartbeat but yeah that was definitely the most way more traumatic than the shootings because the shootings happen quick and then they're over but this was like seven days and nights of being like on the border of about to be dead so it was terrible and yeah i'm still on i'm gonna be on three heart medications for the rest of my life let's start metoprolol and spirulina yeah just uh reference that standard ejection fraction is normals 50 to 70 yeah mild mildly reduced borderline 41 to 49 reduced heart failure at 40 percent or less and you were at fucking 10 percent yeah around 10 percent yeah full-on heart kind of uh stopped me from being able to like edit my videos or do anything like a blood flow or yeah i guess something something like that um but yeah i got out of the hospital i'm six foot three i got out of the hospital about 140 144 pounds holy shit so i was uh you can see that you can see the video no i know you're you're lean as shit right now you're looking like timothy chalamet yeah and i'm like 180 right now so you can imagine 35 pounds holy fuck less that's insane it was pretty crazy but yeah i have an older brother named kyle who passed away at 34 years old from a heart attack so uh i'm super thankful that i got to like experience what i experienced and not just be done because he like didn't get a second chance at at life you know it was just kind of over for him he had his big catastrophic heart thing and it was done so i got to have mine and live and then um go on so well i love your positive mindset after too because we talked yesterday but you're just like i want to crush life and you have that new perspective you're like oh shit we are pretty fragile and it can end like that and then add a family kiddo in that mix you just really start to push yourself harder and you appreciate you look back at some of the stuff you used to get frustrated at or messed with you and you're like man that was nothing i have i should have laughed at that compared to what you seriously yeah it would be right now for me to be like all depressed and anxious would be such an injustice to uh god you know for like sparing me and letting me stay on earth i feel you know and everyone deals with depression and anxiety it's very normal but i i you know it's crazy to think about me being sad prior to the health problems because obviously my health is way worse now than it was before the heart failure like i'm still dealing with health stuff but um my mental side of things is so much better just because you know i see how bad it could be like dude if i if i if i had to uh like close my eyes and open them and i was in the heart failure mode it would just be so horrible so i'm really stoked that that's not happening it's relative everything you experience is relative and what you now you're like okay that's that sucked the most yeah so everything above that pretty cool fucking dopey shit that's that's i mean tab gets to hear it i'll be like she's like oh what's going on with this and i'm like yeah at least i'm not getting shot at like that's literally my bar of that sucks way worse that was eye-opening to me as well like on the jordan trip is like everywhere we went especially on that one base like everywhere we went it was okay here's the area we are uh 40 yards over that way that's the bunker we hide in if we get uh incoming you know we had to go into like bunkers like two or three times like not not had to like it wasn't like incoming thing or whatever but like we're just like going in there like they're showing us like the whole setup stuff like that and then you know leaving there knowing that i'm like getting a flight back to the u.s and 12 hours it's like oh thank you so much for coming out and i'm like i'm gonna go to the hospital i'm coming out whatever like thank you for for doing this i'm like dude i i have the easiest job here i get to go back home tomorrow you guys are stuck here like there's dudes that were out there on deployment for 10 11 12 months so far oh that that one the one picture you showed me you're playing cards with those kids they had to have been like 19 fucking 19 20 23 like one it's a lot of the kids that are out there now uh they they weren't around during 9 11. they weren't even born yeah because we were just talking about that i mean you're looking at it because your average infantry soldier is uh i want to say it's 19 18 or 19 it's a young age but 18 to 21 is when you're in you do your service you get out so it's all babies out of high school like comparative to us yeah and like like don't get me wrong like those guys were all fucking awesome but at the same time it's it's kind of mind-boggling for for guys like us to think about like these guys were born while guys like you were born and they were born and they were born and they were deployed in g-watt yeah that's yeah chris and me were talking about that it's like holy shit these guys are being born when i was deployed yeah because because we were sitting around the the table this morning we had breakfast this morning and and chris you know he he was in the surge i think he was in the surge too and then he he was a blackwater guy for the there for a minute and it's just crazy thinking about because you and i eli we're we're 10 years older than fucking brandon right here and then and then brandon got to go out What was even cooler was that the week prior to me getting there, or a couple days prior to me getting there, a bunch of the guys at that forward base that I went to the second day had all just decided in-country, definitely not for the bonus, but had decided to sign their re-enlistment. Yeah, you got to re-enlist. They did a bunch of re-enlistments the day before I got there. For anyone that doesn't know, it's when your time in service, you would either get out or you have a choice. These were a lot of the dudes that, not being too specific with stuff, but if there was going to be a boots-on-the-ground action of any kind, these were the guys that were going to do it, and they were there in-country, haven't seen their families in God knows how long. They were the ones that decided. They decided to raise their hand and say, yes, I'll do it. I'll do it again. And they had you. They had me promote a few guys. So we went all around and Indian people were great to us, but there's definitely some trash problems. I grew up around a lot of, uh, a lot of people that were like straight, like, uh, like not first generation, but like second generation Indians who had made it to the United States. Like I grew up around a lot of that culture and, uh, none of them want to go back. It's dude, there's this culture of driving there where everyone honks their horn at all times. something too we've had friends that have gone there and they're like worn against bringing like if you have like a a blonde girlfriend or something like that just absolutely do not bring them into
