The podcast features a lively, conversational discussion blending humor, sports commentary, and personal anecdotes. Hosts David Bean, Pete Blackburn, and Sean Depaz explore various topics including the poor design of proposed team jerseys, the questionable use of AI in stadium renderings, and the challenges of fan engagement. They critique the Dallas Stars’ arena visuals as generic and AI-generated, sparking debate on authenticity in modern sports branding. A standout moment involves a memorable encounter with a moose in the wild, highlighting themes of awe and nature. The discussion also touches on cultural issues, including the overuse of generative AI in creative fields and the difficulty of correcting online misinformation without causing conflict. The hosts reflect on their own biases and the importance of letting go of petty online disputes, advocating for peace and understanding. A major point of conversation is Patrick Linae’s career path, with concerns about his mental health and potential fit in high-pressure markets like Toronto. The episode also features a humorous yet pointed debate over who qualifies as the “Leon Dysodil” of the Sharks, reflecting broader fan culture dynamics. Throughout, the tone remains light and self-aware, emphasizing shared experiences, personal growth, and the joy found in sports, nature, and human connection.
(upbeat music) - It is Wednesday, October 12th, the United States, and Canada, and this is a show called What Chaos From. Portland, Maine, my name is David Bean in the Sports Interaction Studio. It's my guy Pete Blackburn and holding it down in the city of Grace Blues. And some might say controversial views. It's Sean Depaz. Hi, buddy, is that topical? - I mean, that would have been topical at any time of the 28 years that I've been alive, at least with the controversial views part, this part of Western New York. But, I guess it was pretty topical, unfortunately, dog shit stadium, something might say. - I think you hear about, you hear that there are some spots, not seats, but there are some spots in that building where there isn't a good vantage point. - Yeah, I mean, I've got a full, eye line straight, straight of hand railing. I went to the preseason game, and all I saw was hand railing for four quarters. - It was tough. - Yeah, hand railing is also, he was telling me that's like a new sex thing as well. Hand railing. - We're getting ready for season four. - That's one of the oldest sex things. - I would imagine hand railing was probably the first one they came up with. - Well, probably not. - No, I bet like the OG railing, they were just looked down and they were like, these are different. It feels like maybe there could be some opportunity here. We both got hands. - I don't think there was a lot of thought involved. - You think they saw compatibility, right? Oh, that's, I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm surprised that early, when I was a child, when I was a small child, I got those block sets where you get the base and it has the square hole and you see the square. And just instinctively, I think it's part of human nature to just put the square into that hole once you figure out that it fits there. - Famously human. - No, famously though that square thing just falls through it completely though. - What do we do? - They hadn't built. - Literally who's asking on the outside. Sean, you plan today. Sean planned today's show by the way. Pete and I have been going. - We would not be talking about. - Sean's been grinding. - Sean, also like, if there's anything to learn from last week's episode with Pete, when the question is being asked by somebody who's asking for this, the answer is everyone. - I don't think anybody. I don't think that applies in the situation. - Also, how have we gotten this? What the fuck are you wearing, Pete? - I'm wearing a home depot baseball jersey. It's incredible. I don't like the tone that you had there. - No, it was genuine curiosity. I have a lot of wear and why, I guess. - Or from wear and why. - This was sent to me by my friend Dave, who was on a work trip. I believe, I don't know where the work trip was, but a home depot headquarters happened to be there. And they had a home depot pro shop wars that Dave took me on throughout this pro shop. And I pointed out the baseball jersey, and I was like, get me that, please. - All right, Pete, that is amazing. - That is amazing. - And those pro shop wars that never was. - I know. - We would have loved it. We just didn't do it. - That's right. - That was probably the luxury Tim Horton's pro shop wars, though. That was like a boutique Tim Horton's pro shop. - Tim Horton's? - Yeah. I've done the farmers rap twice in the last couple of weeks. - Amen. - That they announced the steak farmers rap. They brought in the steak recently, and that's right. That's my thing. - That is good. - Okay, well, I wanted to do all that before the show, because I didn't want it to just be a full show of like, I've been away, you've been away, whatever. We connected at 11.30, Pete then walked away, and came back at like 12.03. This is my first time talking to Pete in 100 years. - Pete, how was your fucking honeymoon? - It was a 10 out of 10. It was truly like spectacular. To the point where I mentioned this last week, like, the basis for going to Hawaii on the honeymoon was that I said, if I don't do it on the honeymoon, the travel is so insane that I probably will never do it just to like go to another state inside the United States. Immediately, even before leaving Hawaii, I was like, I will absolutely be back here. Hopefully within five years, this is the most amazing place that I've ever been to, is the best vacation I've ever been to, is the best hotel I've ever been to, and just could not say enough great things about my experience in Hawaii. - I was offline for long, long, long stretches, and I don't want to say like every time I went on Instagram, there was another like 60 pictures from your trip, but there were every time, and they all looked fucking unbelievable. Like, you told me you were like, there's some on the fucking cutting room floor here. This is just like a little taste. - Yeah, no, I mean, I think I posted, I like honestly, I didn't feel like I posted a lot from Hawaii, but I had like a, I did like a dump when I went from one island to the other island, sorry, I hate saying like I did a dump, but I posted a handful of photos when I went from one island to the other island, but like, part of the trip being so good was that like I just wasn't on my phone pretty much any of the time and all of my pictures, the majority of the pictures that I took were the camera that I bought last summer that I haven't used nearly enough. So I was very happy to put that to good use. - I have very few pictures from my trip. I'm not the biggest picture taker, but I did take this picture yesterday. Sean, Sean. - Oh fuck yeah. - Wow dude, this podcast is close to moose. - A lot famously. - I wanted to fucking cry. And I think I did tear up a little bit. Like we were so fucking close to a fucking moose. And no, when you get that close to them, they don't care, you're not fucking with them. We can nude that close to the moose and it was just eating. And it does moose famously only kind of see like blotches and spots. So the moose knew that we were there but it did not give one fuck. It was unencumbered. It had its calf out like in the woods. And it was like seeing a fucking celebrity. Okay. Like the one of the coolest things I've ever seen. So I got, I got that. I got, I saw a bunch of fucking whales. I stopped taking pictures of bald eagles because I saw so many fucking bald eagles. Shoutout Nova Scotia. Like the best. - That is incredible. I mean, a moose has got to be like a top five majestic animal to see, right? Like a awe-inspiring animal. I mean, I've got, I was thinking I was like, I'm not gonna do it. But I got half a mind to do like an updated animal. Rankings because moose is, moose did not go in my favorite animal, but I'm very, very high on that. Like moose is top two for me now. Like dog one, moose two. I feel like we're going to be grinding. - That's a different conversation though. Like I want to know where moose ranks in like awe-inspiring. A dog is not awe-inspiring. A dog is just like amazing, fantastic. Like pretty, pretty normal, but like you see a moose and you're like, how is that alive on the same planet as me? - Yeah, it was, like I said, it was like seeing a celebrity. And like when you see a celebrity, it's not like you're walking up to Leonardo DiCaprio and he's like, hey, it's me, Leonardo DiCaprio from the movies. Which line do you want me to say? He's just a fucking guy. Like Leonardo DiCaprio is sipping coffee? Like me? That moose, we're just fucking eating. For an hour, by the way. And we were sitting in front of that moose for an hour. Just fucking watching him. - Per, I apologize. - This entire time, all I've been doing is trying to mentally rank how majestic animals are. And I think we're Kobe Bryant-ing moose. Like I think if you start laying them out, I don't think they're up there. - What? - What are you putting five? - Top five, maybe top 10. This is exactly like Kobe. - Well, I mean, I started the conversation and I think it's a top five awe-inspiring animal. - Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I don't think it's top five. - I agree with Pete. - What are you, so give me your top five, Sean. - Like give me animals that you put above it. - I mean, I think like a breaching whale is like easy number one. I think that's just the mass of those things is incredible. I'm instantly gonna be all over big cats and bears. Like a massive grizzly bear. I think like a grizzly bear and a river, catching salmon. That's majestic as fuck. 'Cause a lot of times I feel like moose look mangy. They look like they've been beat up.
I'm putting like a other like a like a Puma or something like that like a black big cat in the jungle, majestic as shit, a black leopard I would I would give you like I think a breaching whale or like a whale period with how big it is. I think it is absolutely a lock a links like you get those are like a snow leopard a snow leopard might be number one low key a snow leopard in snow that is. I don't know I'm just saying I think I think we said moose top five and there wasn't a lot of thought put into it and I think it's I don't think it's a lock I guess is all I'm saying. Okay Sean I just sent you another video you don't have to play all of it but I did see I was talking to a guy who said he saw an Alaskan moose in get this Alaska and that would fuck me up. That would fuck me up. Yeah, I mean you see that shit in Connecticut you're like damn people are underwriting Connecticut. They've got Alaskan moose now but but Alaskan moose is like a moose. So it's fucking billion times bigger. I want to go to Alaska now. Was that the only moose you saw? Saw we saw that moose where we like went to go where a moose would be and like canoeed right up close to it and then on the side of the road we saw a bunch of cars pulled over and people had pulled over because there was a moose off in the distance and I saw that it made me realize I've never seen a moose before maybe I've seen one in like a zoo or something but that shit's not like to be where the fucking moose go. Well I was going to say like that's not even I feel like I feel like that's not even the best moose you could see that I think they didn't even have antlers like I like if that moose impressed you like it's a some of the moose that are out there going to blow your fucking socks off. Sean doesn't respect to that moose though. I was going to say God fucking damn it. I'm gone. I'm gone one week and you guys hate women by the way. No, no, no, because I it's it's completely animal based because when we if you want to talk about cardinals what do you know about cardinals male cardinals ugly as fuck and I got no time for them male cardinals are just fucking brown. I mean who gives a shit about that also like they're not women right like it's women is female human. Yeah, I guess the man there's a it's female. It's a female moose. Can you be misogynistic if it's about animals? I got called misogynistic on Twitter this week. I forget what it was for. Everybody show me your shock face. No, it was because I said that I wanted Travis Kelsey and Taylor Swift to buy an NHL team. And I was like how is that misogynistic? I'm so not misogynistic. I don't even know how to say the word. Oh, but it was yeah. That's it. Hand up turns out I am turns out I'm such a woke lib that I completely lied about the cardinals and it's the complete other way around. I wanted I wanted the female cardinals to be special. They're not. The female carnels are brown. The male carnels are red. Hand up. Tough. And I will say to shout out the people who explained to Pete, why Umbridge could be taken with what he said about Will Smith and the what was it about the sharks and the Swifties. Yeah. But sharks fans now are mad at like celebranian Smith or something. I again, my ear and it's been limited. So the only thing I see when I get online is the biggest and strongest thing that's happening the most. And that's like whatever people are mad about. So um, but anyway, like if uh, yeah, if we say something stupid on this podcast, which we will let us know it's probably unintentional or due to stupidity and not due to hatred. I saw that and not to be like, you're off the hook or whatever. But um, I can tell that wasn't like a, I hate these fan bases thing. It was a, yo, these are the biggest and strongest for better or worse. Exactly. And bases going right now. Let's have them wrestle like part of my favorite aspect of sports is seeing two unhinged, very passionate, powerful groups of fans go at one another would love to see it. But if there's anything, but if there's anything stupid and what we say, again, just like reach out to us DM us, be like, Hey, heads up whatever. Like I, I, I, I trust that Pete was not trying to piss off anybody more than he already does. Don't reach out to me. Reach out to DJ. I don't, I don't, I don't want it to me. Yes. And I, yes. Um, okay. Uh, Sean, I also said, we're during the like magnificent animals thing. I also sent you some shit of whales that I saw, but we don't got to show that I've, I went mudsliding. And that was the most fun thing in the world. I got a mudslide video. And that was pretty, that was pretty wild. I was just like, this dude's just out here on vacation sliding through mud is crazy. So look how fast I go. You, you basically sent me a text message that was exactly that. It was like, look how fast I go. I felt like I was being texted by like a six year old. It was so funny. That is, we got a bunch of videos of us mudsliding. And that is by far the best one because Julia goes before me. And she's going pretty fast. And that serves as the, um, what do you call it in an experiment? The control, you know, to like show like, this is what it's like when someone goes down this thing, I've got a couple extra pounds on me. I'm not in the greatest shape. Whatever it may be, I had my feet up. I was like a perfect storm of things that would make me bomb down that thing of mud. Yo, that shit was exhilarating. And the mud, I don't know if mud can be clean, but it was like very pure mud. There wasn't shit in it. I think it was just like water and silt. That shit felt good. Anyway, a lot of ketchup, a lot of how you doing. We'll do a lot of this off the podcast, but it's good to see everybody. What's on the show today? Pete today on the show. Let us discuss mud boys and animals. I think we've crossed that one off all that. Yeah. Uh, rendering animals. What did you say, Sean? Yeah. I said, and boy animals. We got into the gender of animals. Miss gendering animals. Yes. Uh, rendering season, uh, heat or rivalry season two casting update and a cultural catchup. Yeah. I, um, I'm excited to do those last two things quite frankly because heat or rivalry has added, uh, a couple of, uh, principles, shall we say to its cast for season two. And I know one of them pretty well. So I am very excited to get into that. But let us begin with it being to quote, uh, our friend Noah Khan season of the renderings. You, I somehow, I don't know how we never talked about the islanders jersey thing on this. And it's like the most up our alley thing. We're constantly talking about what jerseys are going to look like. And a team has a contest to say, you pick what our jerseys look like. You make our jerseys and we've been, maybe it's because we've been away or whatever, but we haven't really sunk our teeth into it. We now have the eight. I don't know if you would call it finalists, but the, uh, quarter, quarter, quarter finalists. Yes. Finalists. Uh, octia, something like that. Doc, off is designing the jerseys. Pretty sure that's quarter final. No, I think it's octo. I think it's because it's eight Pete said octo. I think that's right. And if it's looking, if he was wrong, if he was wrong, hit him up, DM him, don't hit me up. Let him know. Let DJ know. Once again, do not hit me up. Non-interested. File it away with the jar department. And that's me. I listen, I don't speak for Pete, but I sure should listen for him. Okay. Thank you. We hear for you. Uh, what do we think of these jerseys? Do you want to go by on two by two Sean? Now they are matchups, correct? Yeah. It seems like they kind of paired them off versus the matching, matching crests for the most part. Okay. Let's talk about the two in the upper left. This is a lighthouse inspired jersey that I would say of them is very heavily in the video game created Jersey camp, correct? Yeah. I would say that's either like video game, create a logo or kind of, I don't want to call it AI sort of, but like it feels kind of minor leaky to me. Yeah. It's a shoulder patch. Yeah. Yeah. It's opposite of what we want teams doing. Usually we say, Hey, the shoulder patch could have been a crest. The jersey could have been a shoulder patch, but really none of this should have been anything. Do we like either of these? I like the left one more than the right one, but I'd either of them particular do anything for me compared to the other six. I would say the left one is way more palatable as an islander's jersey. The right one just looks like an oiler's jersey. It looks like the the oilers.
uh orange jersey from a handful of years ago, they run into a lot of this looks like an Euler's jersey derogatory in these eight. Let's get to the next two where you have the modified uh fishermen logo that I think we're going to be seeing more of these two I think are probably my fail like the one on the left is probably my favorite the navy one with the fisherman logo. That's my favorite of the eight. It's my favorite, but it's also so close to the jersey that they've already done in the reverse retro kind of scheme. Maybe that's why I like it. Yeah, because some of these just are bad jerseys. Here's where it gets really interesting, okay? The uh two that say islanders and/or aisles on it where you've got the riff on the stadium series jersey and then you've got something that to me just feels San Francisco Giants and I know that that's not what a San Francisco Giants jersey looks like, but the horizontal stripe with the islanders in the middle doesn't that give you more baseball than you would like? It's the text. Yeah, the text is very baseball forward and specifically San Francisco and like how far it goes across the jersey. I definitely understand that comparison. I think the upset of the century is the one I really like the aisles. Yeah, that was going to say I said before the show there was two that stuck out to me. It was the the fisherman jersey that we said we liked him. This one on the left. I don't know why it seems like it should suck, but I really like it for some reason. Yeah, it's it's like I'll tell you it's very like like kind of marine forward in like I don't know it reminds me of like those crew neck sweatshirts and it looks pretty wearable. Yeah, it looks it looks like it looks like you could see that the aisles as like the like the the the not the codename, but like the the registration number or something on the side of a boat like it it fits to me on a boat. The one on the right just kind of looks it if they were to make that jersey out of context, I feel like the jersey explainer that they made up for would say that it was inspired by like New York fire fighters. Yeah, maybe I don't know it. I feel like I feel like the arcs text in a straight across bar is really weird to me. You need numbers under it. Something. Yeah, there's it looks like when you design a t-shirt and maybe you haven't totally honed your craft at designing t-shirts and you put whatever graphic or text too low. You know, you're like, wait, should it go up here? Should be going over the breast now. I'll move it down. You know what to be safe. I'll move it and then you get and I've seen like poorly made whether it be like knock off red socks t-shirts or whatever. And it's just too low because whoever was making it didn't know how to make it. I agree with you, Pete. I think that ultimately it's I'll say it's a combination of the arch text surrounded by horizontal straight lines and that it's so low. Maybe if you made it higher, you could put the number below it, but I don't want to spend too much time on that because I don't care about that. I will tell you on the aisle is jersey though. I'll tell you on that. I just think stylistically the jersey on the right needs to have a crest on it. Like it's like the Canadians or the Panthers. Like they have something like that. I need to have and he's to have a crest that is out that is bigger than the line. Having something inside of it just looks weird. I think the one on the right is going to be low opacity on players. Like that is going to look horrible on players. New York Islanders do not trade for Jamie drystale. He's been through too much with his hockey cards. Don't do it. Maybe like a big oversized low opacity thing behind it, but I'm just thinking of in terms of like if this were a Photoshop thing that I needed to make more interesting. It's missing something. Yeah, Sean, it's missing the big thing. A crest. That islanders is not sufficient. Okay. Let's get to an interesting pair. I'll say the of the two Brooklyn inspired ones. The orange one is terrible. That is a shock. Jersey. That shot. He saw that. But, but I kind of like the Navy version of the Brooklyn one. I do too. Yeah, I think it has the stuff that I think these guys hated not having, which is other colors. Yeah. No, I like that one. I think that that one in the Isle is one are probably like my two favorites. And it's maybe just because that they look pretty similar in their base and the striping, but I just feel like that works. I just I'm sucks to me. It's just so lame. I like it. Otherwise, like the colors all work, but this is just a really boring crest, in my opinion. I'm changing my opinions and just copying Pete's homework. I will relinquish the fisherman one because it is a little reverse retro. And I'll go the Isles one that you guys like and then the blue version of the Brooklyn one, but the Brooklyn one. And when I say the Brooklyn one, it's the all black one with the NY. And there's just I think there's like a drop of orange on the stick and in the like inside of the collar. I liked that jersey because it was so like boldly boring. This kind of takes away the bold boringness of it. This is actually a nice looking product. So I've got to kind of recalibrate my brain to say I like this. Yeah. I mean, Chad's doing a lot of like this logo is so boring, kind of echoing what Sean said. And I don't disagree. And I would not say that this is any of these are particularly like amazing, super interesting jerseys, but we're working off the eight that they've given us. And I should point out they did like a like a wider video and where they like went through all of the selections. And they had a lot of Islanders players select their favorites. Like the majority of that video was filled with players selecting jerseys that did not make the final eight, which I found very funny. You absolutely cannot trust the players for that. I like it. Like when I see players like have design hats or whatever kind of merch, it almost always sucks. Oh my God. When the Bruins, the Bruins did a thing like 10 years ago where they allowed players to design their hats for 47, I believe it was. And they released like all these like player design hats. They were fucking horrendous. They were so bad. The sabers did that this year in New era, Tage and Dalline made one together. And it just ended up being like black on black on black camo. And I'm like, what the fuck are we? This sucks. These guys don't know. These guys don't know how to dress. Chad is also asking like, isn't this a chance to go a little nuts? I think it should be pointed out. This is just like a regular alternate jersey, right? This is not a reverse retro. This is not like a here's where we go nuts kind of. No, just and it also was they were designed in like a Jersey builder. So there was extreme limitations on what people could like it very that was very much like a NHL create a team like you got silhouette. So you just choose what colors go where you didn't that's not like you were people are getting them photoshopping into do whatever they wanted. I also have to ask in clarify really stupid. This is for this coming season. Yeah, like how quick are they getting production done on these? I mean, we hear all the time. Yeah, I mean, I think they can make them for the players, but I don't know if anyone's going to want to buy the fan designs Jersey, but that might be that might be a tough ask a lot of these things don't these things get designed and produced like months and years in advance? Well, I mean, if you want to get tinfoil haddy, they might have. Oh, I mean, I don't think it's completely out of the picture that they already know what Jersey they're making. That'd be so funny. That'd be so funny. They just decided it and just like made up a fan vote. I kind of like it. Be kind of a cool move because this is the only reason that we'd be talking about one of those boring ass jerseys if they just released. We'd like spend five seconds on it. They've got a full summer worth of content built out of this Jersey fan vote. And they don't have to do a Jersey explainer because the explanation is fucking Jimmy from if switch or whatever design this and it's and that's it. There's some guy liked it. That's the firm. Thank you, chat. Can confirm via chat. Appreciate all of you that this is for next season, not this season. Okay. That would have been ridiculous. That they're just like setting up the most unfair thanks fanatics ever. Here are our jerseys and you can't buy them because they have been made. I was wondering that part too. It would be kind of weird to do this at the same time where there's like a Jersey or league-wide alternate Jersey rollout to also be like and we're going to have the fans design a fourth one. Like if you do them year by year, you get people get to buy the new Jersey every year instead of splitting it. Let's keep the rendering chat going with the Dallas stars. As we all know, they're moving to Plano, Texas and have picked now. They've revealed HTNB as the lead design firm for their new arena. Why do we care who they picked for their design firm?
Because with their announcement comes some renderings of what a new arena might look like, what the vibe might look out there in beautiful Plano. And there it is, Sean's showing it. It looks like, I said it looks like I made a cupcake and tried to design it professionally. And that's what it looks like. So it doesn't look great, but whatever. And then Sean, do you have the other one that everyone's so mad about? There is what looks extremely like, and I'm not just making this about the oilers, like, wouldn't you guys agree? This looks a lot like that area outside of, like in Edmonton? Yeah, but I feel like that's kind of a stock for a lot of these. Yeah, the arena, every new stadiums like that. All of these look exactly like the renderings for the coyotes arena in Tempe, they never got built. And also now what you can, it's also worth stating that all of the renderings usually look the fucking same for a lot of these arenas. Okay, now I'm zooming in and I can see the first, the closest woman to the screen is wearing a jersey that says has number 71 on the sleeve and number maybe 15 or 18 on the back. So that drew the eye of a lot of folks who realized that it would appear AI was used in these renderings. I don't want to be a party pooper. I don't like when AI is used for artistic stuff. I would not be surprised if this firm used AI to generate what their thing looks like. I wish they used a straight up artist, obviously, but the stars are getting killed for this and I'll just like, they didn't do this. I know they hired the people who did this, but I think big picture I'm not furious about this and I hate generative AI. Well, I wouldn't say them furious about it and I wouldn't say that this is particularly shocking. I feel like these renderings always come out. They've always used like computer generated imagery. I mean, there are certain cases where an artist rendering is used like with kind of like physical art or whatever, handmade art. The rendering part of it doesn't anger me. Like the use of AI, it's the lack of quality control on the stars part and that's where I do hold the stars accountable is you can't put the shit out when they get your fucking logo wrong on top of the arena. Like that is the baseline of getting this shit right and like I think that at the end of the day, if you use AI whatever, but you have to make sure that people can't tell that it's AI, especially with where we are at right now and like the technological revolution, you have to make sure that it is at least masked in a kind of acceptable form and number one should be making sure the company that you've hired to put together these renderings has at least got your logo rights. - I'll copy your homework for a second time and say, yeah, I'll change my answer to that. You should look it over. I just feel bad for like the stars are using AI again and they are and every time I see that generative shit, I'm like, oh, that's so fucking whack not to mention the many ways in which it's harmful, but this is one where and I've been going easy on the stars this off season. I think that it's been very, the easy move has been to shit on the stars at every turn. I'm not as mad at the stars in all of their moves. This is one where I'm like, yeah, they hired an AI or I'm sorry, a design firm in design firms. For some reason, even though like their literal job should be to sketch these things are probably using that shit. Sean, you got any strong feelings? - I don't know, like the cats out of the fucking bag with AI, so we can keep complaining about it, which I'm going to, 'cause it's bullshit, but like it's happening is another one and anybody's gonna fucking do about it, especially in situations with giant corporations. So like that is what it is. I don't know, yeah, it's just like, it's funny that it's the stars. It's funny that it's the playoffs team. Like that, that's the tough look, but like this is just the future of, this is every rendering you're gonna see for a stadium for the rest of time is gonna use AI. It, I don't know what I'm supposed to do, but getting angry is not gonna help. - You know what this is? This is a reputation call. Like the stars have bad branding, they have declared their love for AI in weird forms before. So this is-- - Early adopters. - Yeah, so this is just a reputation call and people being like, you're on this bullshit again. I'm kind of liking, don't fuck me on this stars. I'm kind of liking being a stars defender. Like do we wanna be a stars defenders show? - I absolutely do not wanna lock myself into any specific relationship with the Dallas stars. - That is pending, that is a TBD at any given point. - Exactly, like, yeah, I'm willing to call it like it is. I'm not willing to call my shot and be like, no matter what the stars do, I'm gonna defend the writing. - That gets a little political. - Release a good jersey first and then we can dock. - I guess they did, they didn't release a good jersey. - You were saying you're one of Ella's fellows and you want to get one of those shirts. - You weren't here when we talked about, you weren't here for that. - I still don't know who that person is. - Yeah, that's some choosing. - I don't know them at all. - Texas is, that song choosing Texas is pretty good. I don't listen to it but I hear it in the gym and I was excited to know that I somehow knew the song that everyone's mad about because they're saying no one knows this song. It's not a real song. How is it number one? I was like, oh fuck, they play that in my gym but not in the good part. They play it in the locker room of the gym. But it's changing into a new shirt music. But apparently she might be Maggar, friends with Kid Rock or something. I don't care about that person. What I do care about is Dylan Larkin. I will admit, hand up, I didn't hear the episode last week was stuck in the woods. I did want to quickly ask. I know you'd discussed it with PD. Where did you guys land on? Like, is Dylan Larkin getting traded? - I don't think we landed on, I think we landed on. I think we landed on, we don't want him to get traded. That's the only conclusion we came to. Oh, that was always my hope that he comes back and he either has to keep wearing the sea embarrassingly or you strip the sea and train a camp, didn't we? What do we say? Oh, you know, we said you have to strip the sea and give him a name. - You got it. You got it. - Baby John Tavarras, you got to make him give the sea. - Say you keep fucking around, you'll lose this too. - Yeah, you got it. You got it. John Tavarras have made him physically hand the sea over. - They got it. - To a new player. - Damn, it sucks that they wear work. It sucks that they wear red. They should only give him the, they should only give him the A on the road, so it's literally a scarlet letter. - A scarlet letter. - It's still a Larkin. - Whoa. - Has to wear a scarlet letter. - Shout out, specifically that. - Shout out, Will Glock. We'll talk about him a little bit, you know Will Glock is. - Sounds familiar. - Directed the movie, EZA. - Oh, okay. - And he also directed one night only. He's, that guy's made good things and he has since made bad things. We'll talk about him. - I was going to say, a little bit. - I was a little bit interested in your opinion. I was looking forward to your opinion on that because spoiler alert, that looks like the goofiest movie of all time than me, so I'm, speaking, speaking here in two hours. - Speaking of interesting directors and AI, did you see that you'll never believe this Dij, our boy Eli Roth is in hot water these days because he used generative AI in this latest movie. The ice cream man? I don't know what movie it is. I don't know what movie it is, but Dij, if anybody is not a brunch listener, Dij has had a long standing fascination with the Eli Roth and that has parlayed into a long standing fascination that I have with the Eli Roth. And that guy just like is, that guy sucks, I think that guy sucks. - So I hear for Pete, I don't speak for Pete, I also watch Eli Roth movies for Pete. I have saved Pete so much time over the years. He watches movies that I think might be too scary and then I watch Eli Roth movies and report back to him. It's a weird relationship, but that's a, I mean, that's a bummer, I don't want people using generative AI. That's my stance on that. - I got a circle back. What was the, we didn't do any easy ace lander, right? Because that movie, it chats saying, okay, okay, okay, because chats saying the movie's great and I agree. That movie is fantastic. Shout out pocketful sunshine. - Sometimes I think about the amount of things that I, like genuinely you guys have introduced into my life. But I was thinking about this the other day. I had never heard the word wax a hatchy before I, I met you guys, like I've never heard of this movie in my life. I had never heard of Father John Misty before I met you guys. Still, I'm not listening to any of their music, but these are just like these things that I've done.
I literally had no idea even existed. How much of it you guys have introduced? - This is the most racial Sean has made the show. Before I met you guys, I didn't know wax a hatch of your father, John Misty. - Yeah, Sean the white. - Yeah, hi, Sean. - I'm also wearing an improvement movement hat. - I grew up in fucking Western New York and what's a Syracuse University. And then I lived in Phoenix, Arizona. Like I've been around my fair share of white folk. I had just never heard of any of that stuff. - But never like Sean. - Yeah, never you're a different brand of white folk. It's so offensive. - Never until he said I'll produce a hockey show with these two people who will devote their lives to a hockey show. - It's the second hockey show I've produced. - So it's not like, it's the first white hockey people I've been around. - Respectfully the culture of Arizona does not seem like particularly my point diverse. - Yeah, it's not, no, it's not. - So that's kind of my point. Is that been around plenty of them. It's just you're the ones that have introduced it to me. - Sean, I have white friends. It's so fun. (laughing) - No, I'm not being racist. I have white friends. - It's true. - Oh, yeah? When he writes down Wax a Hatchey on a piece of paper, he's like, well then explain how I can pronounce this. I mean, it's just because of you guys. I probably would butcher it if I read it for the first time. Yeah, there was a comment in the chat, too, that we are a different brand of white people, but also we're in our mid to late 30s. And that is a different brand of white person and entirely as well. So you cannot relate, Sean. - I can't. - Speaking of being a white guy or whatever, famously, I don't drink anymore. But last night I was, last night I stayed in a yurt in God knows where, in the woods. And we got firewood. And we went canoeing, saw moose came back. Someone stole our firewood. So all these people are having fires and our firewood is gone. I got no, we got, and there's nothing to fucking do because we're out in the middle of nowhere. I was pissed. I was like, fire was literally all I was going to have tonight. This was the only thing in my life. And so I started going around trying to find some wood that we could maybe use to start a fire. And we eventually cobble something together. And we're starting a fire, but it's like, I'm not a seasoned camper. I used to camp when I was younger, but I don't really anymore. Julia knows how to do some of that shit, but we definitely could have used a hand. And a guy is walking by us. And he's like, hey, how's it going? And I was like, you know, just being idiots trying to get this fire to grow. And this dude from Oklahoma comes. And he's like, oh yeah, you're using this thing. Oh, this is tricky, blah, blah. I'm gonna help you. And he helped us. God our fire, really good. Super friendly, goes back, is hanging out with his wife, doing whatever. We can overhear them talking and shit. He walks by a few more times. Makes a couple more nice little friendly comments and gestures. That was the most I have ever wanted to fucking have a bud light with a person in my life. I was like, God, if I were a younger man, we have a fucking six pack. And I'm giving this guy a beer and we're sitting around this fire. God fucking damn. I was like, that's how I spent my high school summers. Not a guarantee that you'd stole your firewood. That was, Julia was like, you know, if this, Julia was like, you know if this were like actually, like literature or a story or whatever, that's the fucking guy. Oh, yeah, that guy's, that guy stole your firewoods so that he could help you and make you feel small, make himself feel good and play the role of hero. He wanted, he just wanted to flex for his wife. If you went back, he'd like, just help some people start a fire. I'll start our fire now too, because I can do that. I'm a good guy. We have to. Yeah. No, if he did it, all good. I would trade the, the firewood for the, the friendship. Shout out Mark from Oklahoma. I don't understand what people, Moe, Oklahoma, it's interesting how people choose their vacation spots. Anyway, how will Patrick Linae choose his next team? I saw a thing the other day that was, it was, I don't know, if it was one of those hockey accounts on Instagram, those accounts sometimes really take liberties with what they're reporting and what they're saying. It was just a picture of Patrick Linae, and it said, zero offers. And I was blocked to lie. How do we fucking know that, man? Like, he hasn't signed with the team. It doesn't mean that, that that was like, I don't know, not to get too real, but like, like Colin Kaepernick. No teams will sign him. Like some of those teams were like, hey, you want, you want to fucking take 850 K? We're gonna sign you. You know, like they were starting to be a starter quarterback, but everybody, not everybody, a lot of people wanted to do it. Yeah, they were like, we think you stink at football, but we'll sign you as a backup. I'm so glad that we weren't doing this show during the Colin Kaepernick era, because you would have spent like every other episode screaming about how he is like getting offers, and then we would have been getting yelled at online every single day in YouTube, like, it's true. And you would have been right, but that was just a bad time. Absolutely not the point course. Yes, this is a thing that I've been, I've been hammering this in therapy because it is a thing that I have apparently. It's something that people with ADHD have where it's a thing with like justice, not like legal justice, but like justice and clarifying and like correct and incorrect, where like if, I mean, you remember the fight of a million years ago online where the guy had a picture of some like sick, right wing freaks wearing eye-can-breathe shirts. Oh, yeah. And it was like, these were the cops that killed Eric Garner. They wore these shirts after. And I was like, oh my fucking god, that's not what that is. That's funny. And I'm like, those were some fucking horrible fucks. Not, I mean, the people who killed Eric Garner were horrible fucks, but I'm like, that's not what that picture is. And it's like the longer I try to clarify that that's not what that picture is, the more I'm going to sound like I'm fucking defending murderers. So some things you just got to fucking breathe. And you know what, if people don't know, you don't need to be the one to tell them, think of all the things that you don't know, and people don't clarify for you, and we all fucking get along. It also makes you sound like a fucking know-it-all asshole, which is the last thing I want to sound like, but it's an ADD thing, and I'm working on it because I don't want to be an asshole to people. It's a real strain on our relationship because I'm wrong all the time and just get details wrong, and you'd say, "Nope." So that's why this works, baby. But I know, but then when I do, you also know that then I come to you two hours later. I know. I didn't need to fucking clarify that thing, and I hated about myself, and I'm going to go fucking, like, I'm going to go fight with Julia, so she can yell at me, and then I can feel that justice is being served. Yeah, and I go home and I make Ellen do yard work. Yeah, and what's simple though is when I do those things on the show, sometimes people will be like, "Oh, like, good." I was like, "Thank God, I hate when people mispronounce that thing." I'm getting off that train, folks. It's just not good for anybody, and I'm trying to be a little bit more peaceful of a person. Well, I think I'll only speak for myself. Letting things go has gotten so much easier over the past handful of years, because I see so much bullshit on the internet now that my default setting is letting it go, because if I wanted to correct somebody on something that I knew was wrong, I'd be on the internet all fucking day, just responding to people and having fights that go nowhere for no reason. So my default setting has just become. That person's wrong. I'm ignoring it and moving on, which may be good, maybe bad. My default response has become very devin-cool-y. We're all going to die, none of it. This doesn't fucking matter. And it's funny, Pete, the only response to that type of shit, the thing online where someone's well-actualing you, or they're just scratching a dumb little litch that doesn't need to be scratched, that we only scratch online, the only response that I've ever thought was cool is the Seinfeld 2000 thing, which is the completely over-the-top, threatening bitch-fucking-unfollow-me-you-know-what-all-do. It's just like suck my dick to every person who just has a small critique of you. Shout out to a friend of the podcast, Roy Bellamy. He makes me laugh so much when somebody is like, "Your take is wrong," and he's like, "He just wants your mama." He's like, "You don't know the relationship I have with your mom." Yeah, dude, back in the day when people would disagree with Seinfeld 2000, or they'd be like, "You misspelled Kramer's name or something." And he'd be like, "Fucking-unfollow-me-now-pitch." Where, I mean, that person, I listened to an old-time crisis just they were talking about the
early days of Seinfeld 2000 and he was like, I can't really do that shit anymore because it was like a character before the like alt-right actual like online users existed and Seinfeld 2000 way too closely resembled that type of like real person. And it's just a fucking Canadian dude who's making fun of a Seinfeld account. Anyway, Patrick Lina, we did get some fresh Lina reporting from the Montreal Gazette. Since Fridge's the opened on July one line, he's been linked to the New York Rangers Minnesota wild Tampa lighting, Toronto Maple Leafs, and more recently the Philadelphia Flyers. Now, we don't know if he's gotten offers or if it would be a PTO thing, which is basically, what's that? - Oh, we thought we did know that he hasn't got a single goddamn offer. - Zero offers. - Zero offers, but it's talking. He's talking. He's talking. Look, this is a kid still. If I met Patrick Lina at a restaurant, I would consider him a kid. He's 28 years old. He scored 44 goals before you had dude. - Patrick Lina. - That's how old I am. - Patrick Lina seems like such a boring like a trad topic. And when you think about it, it's not. There is like the most one of the greatest scorers ever born. I will say that about Patrick Lina, who just happens to have not really done that thing. - He's the greatest. - We just know it. - One of the greatest scorers to not score a lot of goals. - I mean, like Benoit Pouliot was one of the best players in the league. You can't convince me otherwise. Did he have the numbers? No, do you have the performance? Definitely not. But he just fucking, he was fucking nasty. - Yeah, I mean, Lina is just always going to be like, I mean, I hope he's not always a tragic case. But like, the fact that he is not one of the best goal scorers in the league is kind of like a surprise, even still to this point. And like I thought it was working in Montreal for a while at the beginning. Like he was just pouring in power play goals. It was so exciting. Based off of the list of teams that were mentioned by our pal Herb Zykowski of the Montreal Gazette, I can't think of a single worse landing spot than the mentioned Toronto Maple Leafs. - Oh my God, yeah. - Lina playing in Toronto under that market, under that scrutiny. Just, I can't imagine that going well. - It's the match made in the most hottest of Hells. - The most hell. Not to mention my four-use stuff is like Patrick Lina and his family just like fucking loving life and seeing what beauty there is in this world. And this is a guy who has obviously had a lot of mental health issues, has had a lot of physical issues. And again, it's so crazy. It's a 28-year-old person we're talking about here. But it seems like he's played 600 years in the NHL and he could hang it up if he wanted to and all these things. And I'm like, "Damn, it looks like life is good for Patrick Lina. Don't go some place that will immediately challenge that." - Yeah, I mean, I think that from what I've heard, the question about Patrick Lina for a while has been a question about how much he cares and is devoted to hockey. And I feel like Toronto is one of those markets that if you're not a right fit, it can kind of drain the love of hockey from you. And I don't want to see that happen. But also, he went to Columbus, which is one of those places that's propped up as like, it's not a ton of pressure. And that didn't really work in Columbus either. So I don't know what the right fit is. I know I'm rooting for Patrick Lina. I know that like, if hockey doesn't work out for him, I'm just hoping that he's like happy and has peace. But I just, Toronto would scare me as a potential destination for him. - Ooh. - Smekalca in the chat, apologies if I butchered your name. Basically, you know the infamous question we asked Jamie Driesdale, who is great and we'll be back on the show one day folks. Don't you worry, everybody's okay. About, you know, like you guys should show up out of shape, so talk it can be distracted by that. Instead of being mean to Matt Vey Meechkov, Patrick Lina can be the lightning rod in Philadelphia. And then all pressure is off Meechkov. I'll say all seriousness. That's like when fucking Martin Scorsese put, put why can't I think of either their fucking names. Sturgial Simpson and Jason Isbell. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - He put Sturgial Simpson and Jason Isbell in the same movie. And I was like, can't fucking do that. - Pick one. - Too confusing. Yeah, you're gonna have one of those guys. I feel like you can't have Matt Vey Meechkov and Patrick Lina. Although there was some enigmatic mystique to Ivan Demadov and the Canadians did that. They had Lina and Demadov. But I would say Meechkov is way more enigmatic. - Yeah. I mean, the only fun part of Lina and Toronto would be Lina and Matthews playing together. One, two and that draft. But that would be the sickest fucking, that could be Brady and Moss. - That's what I'm saying. That would be the only fun part of that. - Yeah, it's fucking Christ. You sound like a Will Mac fam. - I'm gonna ask a question and no matter what the answer is, I'm gonna be so mad. Who's Brady and who's Moss? I mean, Brady is Matthews, Sean, or I'm sorry Pete, did you, I think we texted you about this and shout out to whoever in the chat said this, I've learned that the quickest way to get Sean to shut this shit down is to compare something not proven to something proven. When we were talking about the sharks and how are the all the contracts gonna work and everything and we were like, hey, well, they signed some of these guys before they're super established then they can get them in a better numbers, whatever. And someone in the chat said, "Mesa is the sharks's Leon Dysodil." Dude, and I just brought that up casually. And Sean, - Where my glasses right now and I wanna fucking Jordan the stallion the cross the room. - I like the take. No matter what, I don't agree with you. - But I like, okay, like I said, I said this about when people get mad at like shit that Bill Simmons says on his podcast or whatever. If it's not, if it's from his heart and it's not the same fucking thing that every person in the world is saying, even if I don't agree with it, I'm like, fuck. Yeah, baby. So sharks fans who think that Michael Mesa can be Leon Dysodil or dare I say, "Is Leon Dysodil?" I'll argue with you over it. But explain yourself. - Explain yourself first. - They can't explain yourself first. So Sean was so mad. Yeah, and I was mad and the thing about, I was mad and I was upset because I thought someone said that Will Smith was Leon Dysodil. And that might say Michael Mesa's Leon Dysodil is even fucking crazier. - No, we were famously Mesa. - Will Smith is Randy Moss. - Both played in Boston people forgot. - One of the teams listed in this line article is the Minnesota Wild. And honestly, that one kind of intrigues me coming on the heels of the Minnesota Wild making Vladimir Tarasenko interesting again. - Great, great, great. Yes, yes, completely agree. That's the spot. The AFP analytics says it projects a year and 850K. - Yeah, just fucking understand. - I don't understand. - Do it, why literally every team wouldn't? - Yeah. - I think about my Buffalo Sabers. One year, you never replaced Alex Tuck. You're in a team that like, I would say it is cautiously, but I think maybe might be a little immune. Like, I think they're at a point where they would be more likely to fix a Patrick Linae than Patrick Linae would be to ruin what they've built. Hopefully, fingers crossed. I want to pray that it's a little stable. But like, literally, why would not every single team be like, we'll give you a year and a mill. - Yeah, Pete, I'm sorry, Sean. We have some clarifications on who is the Leon Dysodil of the Sharks, because you said you would guess, but still disagree with that the argument would be that Will Smith is the Macklin, or is that I'm sorry, is the Leon Dysodil of the Sharks. Caleb in the chat has clarified that Will Smith and Michael Misa are each Leon Dysodil of the Sharks. - Okay. - And somebody else has said that Will Smith is the Macklin Celebrini of the Sharks. So the Sharks have two Macklin Celebrinis. And if you can count Will Smith as both the Macklin Celebrini and the Leon Dysodil, they have two Macklin Celebrinis and two Leon Dysodils. Pete, you're kind of fucked on that. I don't know if the Sharks are good thing, because that is a loaded roster, brother. (laughing) - I actually the best team with a league. - I missed the offseason update where the Sharks got a cloning machine and made 18 Leon Dysodils, but hand up, they should be Stanley Cup favorites. 100%
is one of the, no, sorry, I was just, I thought you were going to say that there was like the two of them together might equal on Leon dry side, oh, because someone said that Leon dry side was just Will Smith and Michael Misa and a trench coat. And that I can get on board, but like the sum of those parts, so it's, I mean, might one day be Leon dry side. Oh, think of it this way. Oh, Mike Greer calls up Stan Bowman and says, hey, hey, darling, love in the aftermath of the nurse trade, everybody's happy. I got another one for you. Michael Misa and Will Smith for Leon dry side all straight up. The trade is no because I know it. I know it's not either of us. That is a fair straight up trade. Let's do it, buddy. The trade is one for one. That is equal. I'm cool with making a shark's player is Leon dry side all the new William Eclan for blank because we are missing that in the post William Eclan trade world. Can I give you a, a, a really interesting development that I learned yesterday on the PDO cast with the Metri Phillipo Vitch. Everybody go listen to it. It's great show. He broke the news to me. And I've taken a look at a few different sports books. And it's not true at all of them. But do you know which team in the Eastern conference has the worst odds to make the playoffs? Oh. That question broke DJ. DJ's computer. Who has the, I'll rephrase. I'll rephrase. Which team has the, which team has the worst odds to make the Eastern conference playoff bracket? The fact that you're asking or adjust that it's going to be. I had a VPN thing. I turned it off. Oh, yeah, probably what it was. I'm getting a guess. Hello. Is it the Ottawa Senators? It's not the Ottawa Senators. We lost DJ. Oh boy. Oh boy. A minus grade for DJ being remote every time. Yeah. All right. Let's see if we get them back. I will wait for the reveal for when we get DJ back. I only guess the Ottawa Senators because I like, I think that team might just suck now, but I honestly think the Ottawa Senators might be better because I just think that there's going to be a weirdness removed from their locker room. And I also like Eklund a lot. Say, yeah, Senators are better. I'm riding that. I'm smashing. These Senators are improved button. I, okay, I will, I think them being better and them having a better season are two different things. I do not think that's a better team. I think like are we, are we doing this to brainy contract? Yeah, I mean, I think it's indisputable that like he became a problem for that team down the stretch. No, that's why I think the media Pete, yeah, he wants to stay. He's not going. He's not going anywhere. But after the trade would be so funny, I saw people to Pete, I saw people do that. They were like, nice go in Senators media. Now you're going to see how bad they are without him. You chased him out I think, like I said, I think that they, they might have a better season, but they haven't recoup the talent that is Brady Kachak. Like they have, they are on paper or worse team, I think. I think that's William Ecclen Dreser. I think William Ecclen is a really good player, but I don't think he's Brady Kachak, but I mean, I'll, I'll put my hand up there. There's a very good chance that I don't, I'm not up on game with William Ecclen, but I just, he is the Leon Dry side all of the Senators. Combining the Leon Dry side and William Ecclen bits to make the super bit of all time. I do like just referring to the second best player on any team as the Leon Dry side of that team, because if you don't have that context, it's going to drive people fucking insane. Like, I guess we'll Smith might be the Leon Dry side of the San Jose sharks. I can't do this. That's the answer to the question that I posed happens to be the Boston Bruins have the worst odds to make the Eastern conference playoff. And DJ, you made a, you made a face there and I understand it. I got it now. No, I get immediately a result of them being in the Atlantic division. More so than it is a result of them being considered the worst team in the Eastern Conference. So it logically does better sense. It is kind of a, like a paradox, because like, I think that the Bruins are a better team on paper this year than they were last year. And I also think that while that's true, the Eastern conference is just going to kind of find its level again. It last year was such a weird year. And the Bruins just overachieved based off the fact that the teams around him and the pick the playoff picture around them was so weird that like, I think they're going to be potentially a better team with worse results. Yeah. Yeah. And again, you can be a better team and have a worse season or you could be a worse team and have a better season. I said earlier, shout out to New England Patriots. New England Patriots are have a better roster going into this season than they did last year. Does anybody in the world think the Patriots are going to go to the Super Bowl? No. I mean, I'm not going to be shocked like if they do, but I'm not expecting that of them. Like, it's, I think it's just kind of like basketball book where I would be, I would be more shocked that the Bruins made the playoffs this season. Then we, if the Patriots made the Super Bowl. Oh, that's a good one. Yeah, I, I don't think the Bruins are making the playoffs. But again, like the Patriots make in the Super Bowl, this isn't something that we thought was going to happen anyway, that making the playoffs last season. That was a big surprise. They were playing with huge time house money, which is why I had such an easy time rooting for the Sabers in that series because I was like, look, it's amazing for the, it's, it's more of a miracle that the Bruins are here than that the Sabers are here. All things considered. So I don't think they're going to make a deep run or anything. I don't think they're going to make the playoffs, but worst odds in making the playoffs. I am sure the math behind it. But I am shocked that they have worse odds than the Detroit Red Wings. So that's a thing. They're in a few and a few sports books. The Red Wings have slightly worse odds, but you can't convince me that the Wings have a better chance of making the playoffs this season than the Bruins because given the Larkin turmoil, given the fact that like their only real offseason move was Patrick Kane out Victor Arvitz and in seems fairly net neutral. Like, I'm not a strong believer in the Red Wings. They would have to have huge jumps from a lot of their young players. I am a strong believer in daily face off because the ever expanding hub for hockey that we all know and love is moving into that's right kids. The future is that would that be a good way to describe this daily face off moving into the future? Okay. In the next chapter. Next chapter. Okay. So we all know daily face off in its coverage. Plus we know all of these. I guess like satellites that the nation network has such as our friends in Edmonton, you know, Tyler Liam Kennedy, walls, et cetera, et cetera, Calgary Vancouver Toronto. Those pubs, those silos, whatever you want to call it, those networks are now DFO Edmonton, DFO Calgary or daily face off Calgary, DFO Vancouver, DFO Toronto. It's all one big family, better local presences for our teams than really any other place we know. Like, when I want a daily fix on oil or stuff, when, what was it? When, uh, when something happens, like Tiamerson extends or anything little like that. And I'm like, I need, I need a fix on this. I just need someone talking about it. I'll go and I'll search podcasts and I'll find bagged milk talking about it or whatever. Like that, that's all still happening. And it's all, I don't know, you want to say more organized more whatever it's, it's as strong and robust as ever. And it's all under that daily face off umbrella that we know and love. Sean, you're not in your head. You're into it. Yeah. I mean, it's, uh, what you said, it's kind of the next chapter stuff. It's cool to see the nation and daily face off kind of take that next step, you know, getting into the room with the big dogs. Yeah. I feel like it makes sense daily, daily face offs, just like a powerhouse at this point. Yeah. Yeah. And I mean, there's been a partnership for a while. So it makes sense. Why just kind of one cohesive thing. I like that. Like I said, it just, it just strikes me as stronger, more like, it just puffs. It's chest out now that like daily face off Edmonton. And it just sounds a lot more official and it sounds bigger and better. And I love that like all that official big, strong, serious kind of thing is, uh, being a scribe to Liam. Yeah, I was going to say I was literally just going to say like, do you face off Edmonton? Here's my fuck.
are gonna tell you about bananas. I love that shit. - I was just gonna say, like the name is changing, but there's not a goddamn chance in hell. You're gonna keep Liam Horroben from being Liam Horroben, regardless of what you call the network of podcasts. Like, I have a lot of experience with O&E, I guess, compared to the other shows of the networks. I'd be shocked if anything about that show changes at all. - I love that show. - Yeah, Pete. I do gotta mention, I know that we've got some stuff to hit in a shorter amount of time, but I do gotta mention, P.W. H.L. is kinda on like shaky leadership watch at this point, because Mark Walter, who like owns every team in the league and is the namesake of the Walter Cup, is under federal investigation for his financial empire. And it doesn't seem to be going well based off the fact that he just sold the Los Angeles Lakers one year after buying them. I mean, he made a quick $2 billion shout out to him, Saddie Businessman. But-- - Yeah, the Fixer Upper. - Defect that he flipped the Lakers and is under federal investigation, seems like pretty bad news for the P.W. H.L. and the guy that owns every team in the league. - But the point that I raised is the look at who he sold it to. Bob Eiger, and I forget his first fucking name, 'cause who cares, something, something Kushner, brother of Jared Kushner, son-in-law of the most powerful man in the country, unfortunately. Is he selling the team because he needs the money or is he selling the team as a favor to get a little something back in return 'cause that's the world we live in now? I don't know, I think having a good relationship with the Kushner probably can get you pretty far in terms of federal investigations. - Well, either way, I think the takeaway is that that federal investigation is not going super well for Mark Walter. (laughing) - Finally, a women's sports league with fucking unbelievable players shrouded in controversy. - I will say-- - With bad leadership, yeah. - Finally. - We'd all been waiting for it. - Another aspect of this is that he is more than likely going to lose revenue from the Los Angeles Dodgers for a year. So it might be other parts of this where he's just doing a little bit of financial reshuffling 'cause his team, his franchise, is going to end baseball as we know it. - Well, that's wonderful. - I heard you guys, or I saw the clip of Pete saying that the stonks are up on the NHL relative to a lot of other leagues and I agree with every word of it. Did you guys get into the MLB teams that just don't spend money? - Yeah. - Yeah. - Okay. - Peter Bett brought that up too. The Cleveland Guardian spent $70 million. It's almost $300 million gap. - That is, and I'm lightly lifting this from Mike Felger. That is the problem in baseball. The Dodgers are not the problem. - I mean, I think it's the system. - One team is willing to spend fucking anything and will spend endlessly. And then a lot of teams, not a lot, but like some teams are in spending at all. So if they have those players, it is pretty much a guarantee that they're going to go to those teams that spend a shitload of money and one team is more eager than the rest of them. So that's how you get what you get. And shout out the NHL, they got a cap, they got an upper limit, and they got a floor. - Like that, yeah. - That's one thing I will never knock the NHL for. - Right, and I think that's so integral to a league where like obviously high spending leagues, but you need to have a minimum and a maximum. I think that is so important. And I'll throw a blanket statement out. I think there are too many owners in sports whose first priority is not winning or not the team. It's the portfolio and that's just more apparent and baseball than any other sport. - Yeah, well, I mean, it's definitely too pronged because at the end of the day, the Dodgers are going to make more money than the Cleveland Guardians. And so if you can't, if the most you can spend is not gonna get you close enough to the Dodgers, why spend money at all? Like you need to limit their power to a certain extent. Okay, I'm excited for this. Crave has announced the cast editions for season two of Heated Ravory. Joining Hudson Williams and Connor's story are Justice Smith and Charlie Gillespie. Justice Smith will play Harris Drowver. Charlie Gillespie will play Troy Barrett. Who are those folks you ask? Let's start with the characters. Harris Drowver is the social media manager for the Ottawa Centars. And Troy Barrett is a forward for the Ottawa Centars. Sean, he's got the pictures up there, very good of Justice Smith and Charlie Gillespie. I'll ask either you got either you know these guys? I know Justice Smith because I saw Detective Pikachu and he starred in that. He just has like a very familiar face. And I looked at his IMDB and I haven't seen a ton of stuff that he's been in outside of Detective Pikachu, but I was shocked by that being like the one thing. He has a familiar face. He has very kind eyes. And I will say what I know about the character is that the character is a Carly Ray Jepson fan and where's a Carly Ray Jepson shirt at some point in the Heated Ravory lore. So I'm all in on that guy. That is very exciting. So that's how the CRJ stuff gets its way in there. Some people, by the way, Sean, do you know any of these? Either of these guys? No, I mean, I recognize Justice Smith's face, but I've never seen anything that he's been in. Okay, I thought that you were going to say when it comes to the look of the Harris character. I've seen and chat, as always, get us right. Let us know if we're wrong, if we're misrepresent anything. I've seen some people are questioning the casting of Justice Smith as Harris because Harris is described in the book as having a less athletic body type, I would say. So congratulations, Justice Smith. Woke has canceled you for being hot. Well, I mean, also I'll add, like, there's still time. We can work on that. We can hand this. How committed are you to the role? We can hand this file some ice cream like. Coutine, maybe chat says that Harris is not plus, is not plus sized. Harris is supposed to be a bear. Harris is supposed to be a heavier set character. I'd like this to not go down the, I don't want us to debate whether Harris should be, or I'm sorry, whether Justice Smith should be playing this guy. I just know that part of the reaction has been this guy, like, does this guy look like what the character looks like in the book or whatever? And us having not read the books, I guess, don't have that relationship with the characters, well enough to know, like, no, it really, you really should look like whatever this is. I say cast who you're going to cast, I have trusted pretty much everything. Jacob Tierney and his gang have done with this show. So what I want to get into is Charlie Gillespie. Neither of you know this young man. No, no, Charlie Gillespie is, it's got a birthday coming up August birthday. He's a Libra, I'm just kidding, I don't know what any of those signs are. But he is from New Brunswick, Canada, shut out, New Brunswick, great little place. I am familiar with this guy's work because I saw a movie called One Night Only and Charlie Gillespie plays a major, major role in this movie. He's significant in that he is the only character in this movie that is not a cameo. Everybody in that movie is a cameo. It's like, it's a TikTok person or like a Veronica Slowie Kostka or like those level of people, all the like z-ways in it for a minute. SD Himes in it for a couple minutes. She scored the film did a great job. This was like one of three people where I was like, I don't know who that guy is. I'm going to look him up and I looked him up and I was like, fuck, yes, he's going to be in heated rivalry. He ruled in that movie, so I'm excited. Season two, I'm seeing that, did you see they put out an announcement that's like, yeah, we're shooting, if you see a shooting it, please, like I know, like I get it, but you got, like we're not going to have the show if you keep interrupting our takes. I also saw Hudson Williams like, got real mad because he was like, followed back to his house or his hotel and it's, it's, this was what I was worried about. I was worried about the, the kind of like the media coverage of the paparazzi or the fandom being a, a kind of a burden on, on a few of these, these actors. It, it does seem like Hudson in particular really needs this show to come back. I don't think Hudson's been having like a great time with people just focusing on what he's doing outside of heated rivalry or what he has done outside of heated rivalry. I treat these guys just like I treat Hudson and Connor. I did not know them and I quite frankly don't care about them or the casting. Talk to me when the show comes out and if they're good, I'll be in. Otherwise, I don't give a shit. I mean, I'll say if any stonks for Charlie Gillespie are for sale, I will buy them because I loved him in one night only and we can use that as a segue. I should say into a little pop culture catch up. None of you boys saw one. I don't. You weren't able to score tickets. I like I said earlier. I saw that and I was like this seems like the dumbest movie of all time. I'm waiting to see I'm waiting to see the whole thing.
that's right. Pete, Pete's, Pete and I can't find the right weekend for a Lincoln center date. Actually, you know what? I am officially boycotting this movie because what's the will gluck? Yeah. He said that he cut a ton of nudity because audiences aren't interested in sex scenes or nudity anymore. To which I respond, you don't speak for all of us and who are you cowards? Like, I don't necessarily, like, I'm not going to hold it against a movie for having like a ton of nudity. I'm not going to say that I don't like a movie because it doesn't have nudity. But when you say that you, well, first of all, when you, when you, when you have, do you want the car actors do sex scenes and do nudity scenes and then none of it makes it into the movie? I would be fucking pissed if I was the actors. So you're like, hey, Charlie, you didn't fuck so good there. We're, uh, we're not putting it in there. Yeah. What is that? We'll give you the tape. We're going to be a lot of sex scenes. But this guy just fucks weird. So we got to take this shit. Yeah. Yeah. Learn nothing or two. Uh, okay. This is the quote from a variety from director Will Gluck. Who by the way, Will Gluck directed among other that he did the aforementioned incredible Emma Stone film easy A. He did friends with benefits from 2011. He did, uh, shit. What was the horrible move? Anyone but you, like, he's, he's got a little, a little bit of wild to him where it's like, well, he's done some great stuff. And he's done some terrible stuff. So I got to see what he does next. That's where I made Julia watch, uh, um, don't worry darling. Finally, don't worry. Darling is one of my favorite movies because it is one of the greatest swings I have ever seen a director take and miss so profoundly, but I fucking love someone taking swings. Olivia Wilde, I am your fan forever because of that absolutely terrible, nonsensical movie. Anyway, Gluck's got a little wild to him because he's made some good stuff and he's made some bad stuff. Here is the quote to variety saying that it's a hundred percent true that Gen Z and Gen Alpha don't want to see sex on screen. Quote, I went through this on two movies. I have long pages of empirical data about it. The only thing is I don't think it's just Gen Z and Gen Alpha. I believe it's been a societal shift from taking nudity and adult situations and putting them on your phones at home for everybody. Now it's more of a private, intimate thing that people don't want to see when they're in a big shared experience. Whenever people see now see nudity or very adult situations in a big theater, they get uncomfortable. My big issue with this is that a, and I retweeted someone saying this so it's a stolen thing, but it's also a strong agreement on my part. I, Pete, we've talked about this. I don't want fucking data or AI generated or any sort of like, good, I, it's a good idea to do this thing based on this thing. I don't, I want that shit as far away from anything we do creatively as possible. A fucking film director saying, I have data that says the audience doesn't like sex scenes. You fucking tell us what we like. The data doesn't tell you what we like. You make the thing that you believe in and because we're all gluckheads, we go to see it. You are the creative here. The empirical data, data of me and Pete sitting in a fucking test screening. Oh, what? He wasn't talking about you guys. That's what I'm trying to say this whole time. He said Gen X. He said Gen Z and Gen Alpha. I'm not even, I'm barely Gen Z. So I, because there certainly is like, like my generation, generation, younger than me are having less sex. They have a very different relationship towards sex. I have, I have, I care about any of that. I have a take. No, wait, wait, wait. Before you get to it, I need to clarify. I have long said, I don't like sex scenes in movies. And I would happily take a reduction of set, like, I'm not always mad when I see a sex scene. I'm like, oh, no, fast forward through this part. But a lot of sex scenes in movies are bad, comical, a waste of however much time is going to be in it. Like, I'm not, it's not my biggest cause. But when he says people don't like sex scenes in movies, I'm like, yeah, I could take her, leave him like whatever. But I don't like you fucking listening to me, movie maker. I like you making your fucking movie because I'll tell you what, Glock, if you are a hockey fan and you have thoughts on how we could do our show, not fucking listening to you, do your own show. All right. Let me get, let me get two things in here. Speaking to what you're, you're talking about DJ, one of the greatest pieces of advice that you've ever paraded to me or given to me or whatever it was where you got it from the source material was don't give people what you think they want, make people want what you give them. And I think that is an incredible piece of advice to go by as a creator. And then number two, I whole, I fully, fully believe that Gen Z and Gen Alpha are very uncomfortable when it comes to sex. They need to get more comfortable with sex because it is what makes them so intolerable so much of the time. Get off the internet, go have sex, be comfortable with sex, and learn how to fucking deal with it. Stop whining. We're fucking. Don't like, I think that's the, well, first off, as a lot of people are putting out in the chat being like Gen Alpha has a weird relationship with sex when you're exclusively talking about minors. Like you're saying, Gen Alpha is our literal children. I'm going to redacted Gen Z. Gen Z. I wasn't saying that to you though, but being like, we have stats to say that Gen Alpha isn't having sex. I'd be like, fucking, I, I guess I hope not. We're talking about 14 year olds. Like, so that is a kind of like a little misleading, I think, in and of itself. That looks right. Oh, yeah. I mean, that might be the best whatever. That's crazy. That's crazy. I don't even want to get to the conversation. Also, I mean, to the point, if like if they're underage, why is Will Gluck making a movie entirely based around sex for people who are not comfortable with sex or not like allowed to have sex or whatever. And what parents are driving their kids to the Will Gluck focus group? It's just that part of it is exclusively being like the kids aren't having sex. It's like, I mean, that seems like a pretty, a pretty timeless thing. I think most time, regardless of the generation, the kids aren't having sex. But I mean, I definitely agree that like, I think we should stop prescribing a relation. Like a one way or the other, stop prescribing a relationship with sex. Like just let people be fucking human and normal and have their relationships with it. But like, yeah, doing it. It is funny because that was I think with the Odyssey, too, is that like the what's her name, the, the, the translator who wrote the Odyssey was like, there was no sex in this movie. And sex is somebody in the chat said this entire conversation is like very northern lion pill. I've tried to explain to you guys and try to, to make you guys fans of northern lions so many times. And I've just brought him up because he, he never misses. And I just sent the northern lion clip about nudity and movies and sex scenes and movies. And I just want I shine. I want you to play it so bad. I want this to be your entry point to northern lion because it is one of the best and funniest and most accurate rants that I've seen him have. It's so good and it's so related to this conversation. I, you brought up northern lion before and you've said something about him before and even when you brought him up just now, I was like, I don't know what you're talking about. But I do recognize this guy's face. I will say on the Emily Wilson critique of there wasn't sex in the Odyssey, I have finished Cersei. Great, great book recommended to anybody who's excited coming off of the Odyssey. And I'm now reading a song for Achilles, which I know has been literally every single what not or a Patreon subscribers demand for any of us to read. I have finished Cersei and I know everything that happens with Cersei. One, it is fucking incredible to me that this has not all been spoiled and that people aren't talking about this because some shit happens with characters that you boys know, I'm not going to spoil it at all, but I can't believe it hasn't been spoiled. It's not a shit that will blow your Sean that'll blow your fucking mind, okay? You specifically and my computer is down here, so I'm Colby Cohening right now. So I apologize that I'm like kind of looking at the floor right now and I'm wearing a hat, shadow Colby Cohen. It will blow your fucking mind. The other thing is, I completely agree with Emily Wilson after knowing what goes on between a lot of these characters and how crucial sex is to all that shit. That is it. I'll tell you what, Gen Z and Gen Alpha would not like the Odyssey.
as Emily Wilson wants it because that thing is filthy. Shout out Justin Timberlake with sex. Hey, there's gonna say it's fake. - Okay. - I had no time for any of the Emily Wilson criticism. I didn't understand it, and I also don't understand. I need to look more up about her, 'cause is she even an author, or is she just someone that translated the book? Because that's a big difference. - I will say, I mean, my reaction to Emily Wilson's criticism was like, Emily Wilson, you've done some great things, you know the Latin language better than I ever will? I think I know Christopher Nolan films better than you. - Yeah. - Yeah. - I don't think I know a little more, Emily. - I don't think I know a little more. - I don't know what it was. - I don't fucking care. I liked Christopher Nolan movie. - I know it was a good movie. - You're so respectfully that this is actually my territory. You're smarter than me. This is like the only thing I have. All right, let's play the Northern line clip. It's the best, it's a banger. - My friend asked me for a recommendation for a movie. I told him to go see the lighthouse next day. He was pissed 'cause he was going out on a movie date. Honestly, are the neurotypicals okay? Might be the mermaid jerking off scene and the farting. Okay, so what are you suggesting? It's inappropriate for a date. You the fucking, the shit the pisses me off is. You are all atheist and you're like, I don't wanna watch a movie with farting is not appropriate for a date. It's gonna offend their tender sensibilities like your attitude towards the movies that you can watch on a date with a woman or an ironically misogynist. Plus the worst case scenario, if she actually does get offended, if she doesn't wanna watch it, don't you trust her to be like, it's just kinda weird, turn it off. Doesn't make any damn spider, why are you so puritanical? You're 22 fucking chill out. It doesn't matter. Sit in the seat, watch the first 22 minutes of the movie, make out for the rest of it. Fucking add into letterbox with whatever the consensus score is. This is the way, bro. I can't believe we have grown adults covering their eyes during sex scenes in like R-rated award-winning films with their parents. Just watch the fucking movie. I watched the hateful eight in theaters of my Mormon grandpa and that scene was not a fun time. I'm freaking out. Why would you take your grandpa to a Tarantino film? 'Cause he's live longer than I've ever played her than he can appreciate true cinema. I'm fucking dying. I'm fucking dying. You don't believe that these are real people. You don't believe that the person you're taking out on a date and possibly wooing and maybe falling in love with and getting married and starting a family with it's a real person with interiority and so I'm an autonomy of their own. You don't believe that the people who raised, the people who raised you are real people with complicated emotions that can mature sensibilities that can actually handle stuff. I'm freaking out. You think you're the only real person. You think you're the only one. You're literally looking at the demography of it and I'm be, oh, this movie wouldn't be appropriate for them. They're not an 18 to 35 year old male who spends eight hours a day on Reddit. What are you talking about? All right, horrible, horrible fucking episode for me swearing off the clarification thing and the like, oh boy. No, because I watch that and I'm like, that's my new God. He's doing exactly that's what he's doing to that at fucking MJ levels. But he's making a point at the end of the day. Like I think that's an important part of like he's not just clarifying to clarify or correcting to correct. But he's losing his fucking mind over it. And he does it so well. It's so unbelievable. Can I have you, have you either of you seen the lighthouse? I have not. What? Because I've become a big RPAT guy recently. I know that that's crazy to me. I know it's but honestly, I think the lighthouse is what got me to respect Rob Pattinson because I heard so many people being like, this movie rocks and he's incredible in it that I'd be like, okay, maybe I need to give Rob Pattinson movies time, but it just I hadn't given that one time yet. Oh, so if you've seen, if you've seen the lighthouse, you can do anything. Like nothing is gonna fuck you up ever again. It's like taking acid where your like genetics are a little, your like DNA is changed. That seeing the lighthouse will protect you from ever being like, I don't really like that Robert Pattinson thing. You know, I thought he made a weird choice there. You'll never be a, you can never have that with Robert Pattinson. He is, for our Pattinson's a fucking insane man. And like really one of the greats and we've talked about the year that he's having, everyone see the lighthouse and I say everyone, watch the Northern line clip first, I guess. In case that's gonna freak you out that there is, that movie is wild, but I'll tell you what, that's a movie that didn't fucking look at empirical data. And that is talking about it. I don't think we're gonna be talking about one night only in like five years, maybe DJ, but. - Oh no, I'm ready to keep talking about one night only. Saw it, first thing I did when I got back to mainland, so was in Nova Scotia for a week, did Cape Breton, did Halifax, Halifax is great. Halifax, I will say, does the waterfront area so much better than Boston, Halifax fucking dunks on Boston, not completely, Boston's a great city, but like its waterfront area is taunting the Boston seaport. - Well, I mean, you can't say the Boston waterfront and it's the seaport. - It has its own fucking little world with cool little shops and everything. It's not the fucking mall like the seaport is. So Halifax rules, shut up Brad Martian. Cape Breton, most beautiful fucking place, maybe I've ever been. But I was away, brother. - That's right, yup, yup. Respect to Hawaii. Your picture, again, like your pictures, we're gonna have different pictures from these. - We went to do it, yeah, well, I mean, that is an old brunch bit, is the pictures that I take versus the pictures that DJ takes. So. - I mean, inside you there are two wolves, Pete with a fucking God tier thirst trap in front of an erupting volcano. Me just doused in mud going 600 miles an hour down a mud slide. - It was a pretty devastating trip 'cause now I have to retire forever. The claim that Ellen takes horrible pictures of me and is like tandem with you, riding a tandem bike onto the bad pictures convention because Ellen took like the best picture of me that has ever been taken. Which one, dude? Every time I open up into the waterfall, is like the best picture that has ever been taken of me. - Dude, Ellen took it and then gasped when she looked at the screen and I was like, "Fuck yeah, that's a good sign, fuck yeah." Kudos, yeah, Julian and I were doing like, fucking, what is it, like family film time with your fucking pictures? I'd get on Instagram and I'd be like, "There's a new fucking batch." And we would just like scroll through and be like, "We gotta go to fucking Hawaii. Gotta go, oh damn. Oh, this one's gonna get a lot of comments. This one's gonna, I saw Evan Ross Katz commented on the, was that the waterfall one? - Yes, yeah. - We were just like, "Pete." - Yeah, that was, that was, I will say, widely received positively by the gay community. - Fuck yeah, shut up the gay community. - Shut up the gay community. - I appreciate it. - Finally, the gay community likes Pete. Painfully straight, Pete. Speaking of pictures, by the way, I'm pretty sure the greatest picture of me to ever been taken has been lost to the fucking ether because I still haven't had that picture of me in Montreal developed anywhere. I don't know if you found it. - I got, did I tell you this? I got the role of film developed that I thought it was on. - That you thought it was on? - Yes, 'cause you had that awesome. - Yeah, the one in front of the neon signs. - Yeah, with me, EJ and I, yeah. - I think that there's a possibility that it might be on one of the roles of film that I finished in Hawaii. So I got to drop off film. So check back in in like two to three months. It's ridiculous how long it takes to get filmed until. - Okay, on one night only, the first thing that we did when we got back to mainland, we stopped in Fredrickton and I was like, they got a movie theater, they got a synoplex, which I don't need to be a synoplex. I don't need to be a synoplex. - That's where I saw Odyssey. Fuck yeah, we were like, if we hope it, we can sneak in one night only. This came highly recommended by, if anyone is online and follows friend of the podcast, prolific musician Chris Bale of Vampire Weekend Fame. Chris Bale has heavily hyped this picture. So I was like, you know what? I hated anyone but you. Glock is on a cold streak, but I want to see what this shit is. And as long as you can accept what it is, like this is why the letter boxification of movies fucks with me because like I think like my favorite movie happens to be actually a great movie. There will be blood is actually a great movie, but my favorite movies are not great movies. - I like a cold person. - I love cold person. Yeah, like I'm a bomb house guy, cold pursuit, the Liam Neeson one, is this really absurd movie that I like? Like fucking, I don't know if the lighthouse is a great movie. I don't know how many more times I'm going to see it in my life, but that shit is wild. And that's why I like going to the movies. So like, is this a great movie? Obviously not, but I don't give a fuck any more if movies are great. This, it fucked up in a lot of ways. I agree with Ken Jack, Calum Turner, can't be in that movie. I don't know if that is a good idea.
bad actor. I don't know if it's that he's a bad actor, but I agree that he cannot. And yes, this is a big plagiarism inciting your sources day for me. I've been outsourcing all of my hockey facts from Pete and all of my, whatever culture talk from whoever's been around me. Calum Turner can't play an American. It was so clear that that dude was not American. And Monica Barbaro. Barbaro is great. I want to continue to follow that career. I think it's headed in great places. The movie needed sex. The movie did not, the movie is about it's a sex comedy and it didn't have sex. And the premise of this is it's the purge, but for sex. You're not allowed to have sex all year, except for one night. And a problem that it has is we sit down the movie starts and you know, I hate people talking in the theater. First 25 minutes of the movie, Julian and I are talking to each other every three seconds, being like, but how do they know if they have how, how does the government know if they're having sex? And like, wouldn't you have a way around this? What about, wouldn't people just go to Canada? This would decimate the American economy. People would be leaving to go have sex other places. And you have all these questions about how the fuck does this work in bit by bit? They kind of unroll it and they tell you about it. You need to tell us about that shit up front because of distracting 20 minutes of the movie, the audience is talking to each other saying, how do they know? So that was a little distracting. They did have a cool scene where I won't spoil who the celebrities are, but there's a million cameos in this movie. And they explain kind of how it's done. The product placement in this movie is loud as fuck. Shout out, directs, shout out, uh, Duncan Donuts. That was really cool. They have a condom sponsorship and they don't show sex. Yeah. That is crazy. Alright. Yeah. I'm, I'm, I said at the beginning of the show, I'm doubling, I'm boycotting this movie. I will never see this movie. Same. Look now. I was stupid shit, but maybe it's new less harsh DJ. I thought it was a fun movie. I laughed a lot at it. It was ridiculous. It fucked up in a lot of spots, but I will say it is significantly better low bar, but it is significantly better than anyone but you. Anyone but you is a horrible movie with horrible performances. I mean, saying that a movie is better than movie you is just like cool. I'll take every movie in the world. I'm still thinking about it sometimes though. I'm still, I'm still like asking a couple of questions. Wonder like the big thing for me is how that would affect the American economy because they do have it. So it is in pot like if you have sex, you'll get arrested. And I won't explain how, but if you have sex, you will be arrested. Wouldn't that destroy the economy? I would, I don't know that it would. Sex is like a pillar of human existence. Yeah. I would say at the very least it would create like a massive sex tourism economy in Southern Canada. Yes. That's what I'm saying. I don't know how much it wouldn't necessarily because it's like what that doesn't exist right now in America. So it's not this wouldn't necessarily take anything away. I do think they would have a lot of ramifications that it would be impossible to predict. I a way to pivot off that is the credit thing because I also heard still a lefty for the first time and still a lefty famously is. I'm, I'm letting it go. The clarification thing, people have been misusing the term nepotism a lot lately. She's not a nepo baby. She's just a daughter of a billionaire. Okay. Hey, that's, you want to clarify that? That's. Hey, I'm like, I'm out of here. So it's Taylor Swift, not a nepo baby? Taylor Swift is a nepo baby because her father bought the label that she got her start on. So, but do we, I guess what I'm asking is do we know? I don't know anything about so a lefty like how much of the, I guess the where's the line between privilege and just like having privilege by being the child of a rich person? I think that if like you're actively, I think that if like your dad is like your boss or like works or your, your parent is your boss or works in the same field and has like established a prominent powerful role in that field and you come up in it, then you are a nepo baby. Yeah, I saw a clip of someone they were making fun of a bar stool sports employee who was clarifying that they were not a nepo baby. And they were like, my dad works like I work in entertainment now. My dad works in entertainment. My dad was in a band called SuperChunk. And I'm like, oh damn. She was like, and he owns a record label, Verge Records. And I'm like, whoa, fuck. Verge Records was like arcade fire and a lot of huge. And I was like, yeah, he does you, you're not on his label. You're not a nepo baby. But again, I don't know that it, but privilege is a big thing. And of course, I so think you can be a nepo baby in that case because like, yeah, definitely people are, maybe he's, people connect you in a paper or whatever, like, yeah, it could be influenced. But yeah, I mean, like, if we're holding against the child of a rich person for having a career in the arts, then we're losing a lot of people in the arts because the children of rich people have the freedom to explore the arts and not really care about making money. That's such a woke but accurate take of you. Yeah, great, great good Pete episode. It's probably intelligence. I'm not like that. It's important. That is my privilege to crack in the books since each of you is like, all right, it's a good picture. I got to post it. But now the real work starts now because we got to add depth. Yeah, yeah, exactly. It's the like, I like, I can't just look, I'm on this GLP one. I got to be working out neat and protein as well. I can't just, I got to make sure I'm doing this thing right. Also, for what it's worth, like, nepotism is not an inherently bad thing. I think a lot of situations, like, I think about a guy that I say I hate, but I actually don't know at Eagle. Ian Eagle's son, like, he went to Syracuse the exact, he graduated the same year as I did. And now he's calling games on Netflix. And it's like, people want to call him a nepothe, but also like, he's good at it. So, like, and especially something like that where it's so voiced dependent and he has the same voices as dad, like, if they're good at it, who gives a shit? Yeah, it's also logical to think that like growing up under your parents influence and like, learning from them over the course of your entire life, you have a head start on a career in these fields. Yeah. And like, sometimes, yeah, you get put on second or third base because of the nepotism, but also there's just plenty of times that you are far ahead of your competition because you're learning from people in the field who are successful. Yeah. And I was going to give examples of like, nepot babies who we all agree should be there, but I think that even just bringing up like, hey, this person's father is whatever invites a, like, ooh, okay, let's investigate thing. And anyway, this Stella Lefty is the daughter of a billionaire and she has a song called Boston. And I saw that people were dunking on this person. And you know, I've said my thing about Greta Van Fleet in the past, you know, sometimes you hear a new band and you're like, Jesus fucking Christ. Are we fucking doing it? And I feel like this Stella Lefty is getting this a lot of a lot of hate. And I was like, okay, let me see like how bad this song allegedly is. And it's a song that borrows the melody of stick season by Noah Conn. And Noah Conn is not my favorite artist. I will avoid this death trap. Noah Conn is not my favorite artist. And the reason why I'm not super stimulated by Noah Conn's music is because it is what someone could call stock. You know, like, it sounds like something you've heard before. There are a lot of songs that sound like it. So this song, Boston by Stella Lefty, initially had four songwriters. They then had to add Noah Conn as a fifth songwriter because the song sounds too much like Noah Conn. And I'll say, if your very basic song is having to add the writer of like stick season is an incredibly basic song has to add that to its songwriting credits. I'm not saying you sucks to all lefty, but I'm saying that what you're doing kind of fucking sucks. And that is as mean as I will be to that person. Have you heard this song? Any of you? No, I don't know even who this is. I have, but only in passing. And I don't know anything about this person or the quality of their music. Yeah. I mean, I'm not I'm not interested in the like, you're just a rich bill of like, I'm not interested in that part of it. I don't know this
person. But I am like, damn, if you're going to, like, you're going to have haters out of the gate. If you are, because people know that you're background and everything, you got to come with something magnificent. You got to pay whatever it costs to Max Martin to be like, yo, write my music. Give me a fucking banger. I will simply say that song is not a banger. How is Spider-Man? Oh, no, no, no, I'm sorry, Mike, Mike, sorry, my last tie into that was fuck that, uh, they need to credit whoever made the purge. You can't make the, uh, sex purge movie and not have the purge people like Jason Blum, whoever it would be on as like that. I, that is way too clearly ripping off something else. That's my last thought on, on that. How is Spider-Man? I didn't love it as much as a lot of other people have seen to love it. But it was, it was not like, it was not bullshit. Um, it was not as bad as I feel like as, or as egregious in my complaints about the Marvel universe and like how it has to like feed other ecosystems of Marvel in these movies. It wasn't that bad. But I also didn't find it particularly interesting for like an hour, 15 minutes to start the movie and ultimately, how long was the movie? It was like two and a half hours. So there was like a spank to say half was pretty good. And, uh, I say pretty good because I just think that there's a real ceiling on a superhero movie that doesn't have a compelling villain involved. And this movie did not really have a compelling villain involved. And like I thought it had a little bit of heart. I thought it was funny at points, but it was a two and a half hour movie that wasn't very interesting for like the first half and really lacked a core component of a good superhero movie. So like, I didn't love it. I was, uh, how was Holland? He was good. Like I have, I've said my, my concerns about Tom Holland as like a broader actor, but he's a good spider man. He's a good spider man. I gotta say that's his bag. That's my pro, that's my problem with with Tom Holland is every time I see him, I'm like, that's fucking that spider man. Well, it's like everyone sees Chalamet. They're like, let's walk a, I don't know what's good in this movie though. No, it was good in this movie. Who? John Bernthal. John Bernthal. That fucking rocks. John Bernthal is the punisher. Like that is, like the spider man and the punisher having like a bro relationship is a 100%. I was there for that for every second of the movie. Big fan of that. Big fan of John Bernthal, just being boys with anybody basically, uh, that's his bag. Like John Bernthal just being boys with somebody needs to be a subgenre that I will subscribe to and be sat for every fucking time. Uh, just podcasting with shy LaBoufter in the movie. Yeah. I mean, absolutely. Uh, I think Bernthal, I'm like getting closer and closer to being on team Sean. Like that's one of my favorite actors every time I put back when I said that. Oh, I thought that he, I thought that he was always one of your favorite actors, Pete. He's one of my favorite actors. John, did you say like one of the best actors? Cause I think my pushback was like he has no range, brother. He just plays. I don't remember what, where did I use specifically? But I was saying him with like Robert, I said it after Robert Pattinson where I'm like, I said Robert Pattinson is probably my favorite actor right now. John Bernthal's up there too. So, but I was also fresh off me watching Gary, like fresh off it was the Odyssey into watching Gary. So it was, it was a big like couple of weeks for John Bernthal in my, my, my life. Now that I've read so much more Greek mythology shit, I will say, I, I didn't have a problem with Tom Holland in the Odyssey. The first time I saw it and didn't know about any of that shit. Saw the movie again. Didn't have a problem with Tom Holland. The more I learned about telemicus, Tom Holland was a perfect fucking choice for telemicus. And if anything, the like the feast is done thing. That shit ain't telemicus. Like telemicus is that meager Tom Holland shit. And I do feel a little more vindicated. I, I'm starting to see some like that wasn't a half the way he's greatest performance thing that I was initially I thought I was on an island with that. The like I want no dissiest thing like that ain't Penelope. Penelope is Penelope is waiting and out thinking fuckers. Penelope. You're begging for it doesn't have to be exactly the text. I know Emily Wilson stuff pissed me off. It's like it's not, it's, it's a different thing. Well, I'm saying if I didn't like the performance in the first place, like the, like I, the scene where she's like screaming with telemicus, which I get I consider kind of like her only big scene other than the one where she's listening. I'm like that that's not that's that's not blowing me away. And that more people are saying that now, which makes me feel less like I'm like I just completely missed something. But now knowing more about Penelope and being like, oh yeah, that it could have been different. That's all. But I'm not trying to Emily Wilson this. Although when we did bring up Emily Wilson, I did see Chaco crazy. That looks like an area where we want to tread lightly. I think if we say anything about Emily Wilson, we might get killed. So I will say I'm Tim Emily Wilson. I'll say the two biggest strengths of the Spider-Man movie is the the dynamic between Bernthal and Tom Holland. And the other one is that it does a really good job like exploring kind of like the depression and loneliness of a superhero. And that that I found like really, really strong and really interesting. I didn't think that they necessarily did it. The best it could have been done. But the angle I felt was like a good angle for Spider-Man at that point in the universe. So like not a bad movie, just probably too long and not the best movie it could have been. We also have the prime time trailer, the movie for which Robert Pattinson plays Chris Hansen based on the I forget which which who wrote it. But there was an article called tonight on date line or I'm Chris Hansen tonight on date line. Some like a man will die. And it's they're making a movie of that. And I think everyone seen the trailer by now. I think they've all heard the see how this looks, right? I mean, we only have like two weeks of and we're just getting new Pattinson vocal stems left and right. Trailer looks fucking unbelievable. It looks unbelievable is fucking great. I am of the belief that they should hand out Oscars for the best trailer. And this would be a runaway. I can't think of a better trailer in like the last long time question. If they hand out an Oscar for the best trailer does Creed Bratton go on stage? Yeah, probably I gasped when he showed up. It was incredible. Creed got lines. Creed got lines. I think Bridgers was in the mix. Do we have a little Phoebe Bridgers in there? I didn't see I didn't see her. I thought I saw Phoebe Bridgers in there. Phoebe Bridgers was like tonight is the night. We strategize. Whatever. Does everybody know? I know that we got a lot of Gen Z Gen Alpha. Like Sean, did you watch The Catcher Predator? I don't know how much I actively want to put like I knew I know Chris Hansen is and I know what The Catcher Predator is. He also I would say one of the more famous episodes of Boondocks around him, which he famously fucking hates because it is not not very friendly to Chris Hansen. It should be things shouldn't be friendly to Chris Hansen. Well, it's it's not friendly to Chris Hansen in a way that's problematic, even if you don't like Chris Hansen, but it's the Boondocks. So it's it's whatever. But yeah, I know I know all about The Catcher Predator. I went back and watched a couple of ups of The Catcher Predator recently in 2026. Holy shit. That show was not it. Chief. Yeah, I mean, that's my thing about this like it's it. That's why I think this movie is because originally the only thing I saw was the clip of him coming down the stairs and being like, why don't you take a seat. And so I was like, okay, like this this looks good because Robert Pattinson's in it and he looks like he's doing a Hansen impression pretty well. And then I saw the full trailer. I was like, Oh, like Chris Hansen is not the good guy necessarily here. I like I appreciate that it seems like it's going to be addressing kind of how complicated. Yeah, and that concept is I hate the pressure that I hate to push back from the people online that are like they're making Chris Hansen out to be the bad guy in this movie. And I'm like, not necessarily. It's probably like a story about The Catcher Predator and the layers that go into that sort of production and the layers that go into the man behind it. Well, not everything is binary. Not everybody's like, Oh, great guy and bad guy. I like the exploration of kind of the gray area in between there. Like, yes, it's good that you got you caught predators and got them off the street. Not necessarily great.
like in the way you went about it all the time or the people that you're putting in in danger by doing it. And you didn't get those, those guys didn't get big sentences because they, because of fucking entrapment. So they were like catching them for the show and then they wouldn't get the senses that they actually would get for those crimes because of the shit that the show was doing, not to mention like a guy fucking died, not to mention they like, yeah, this isn't a fixing the world podcast. And pedophilia is the worst fucking thing. But that show, it was a self-serving, like Chris Hansen was largely self-serving. And like they, I know they would like cut out people being like, I'm like fucking sick. Are you with there? Like can you help me? Like there's like, like, and again, pedophilia, the worst thing in the fuck. They are cutting all of that shit out and then being like, look, look at the shirt, the creeps wearing or whatever. And it just had this like very like voyeuristic thing where I read a thing in, I think it was the New Yorker and it was like, why were we watching to catch a predator? And it was just all a very fucked up thing surrounding the, the worst thing, the answer is that like nothing like it has ever existed. So it was fascinating to watch. Doesn't necessarily mean that it was good or like doing the best job it could have done for what it was trying to accomplish. But there was nothing like it that had ever existed. So yeah, people watch. That's why people watch fucking jackass. So people watch something like I said recently, I watched season six of Love Island and there were points of that show where I was like genuinely very deeply disturbed by what was going on by it. But like, there's something apart, there's a part of human of human nature about society that like, it's a car crash. Like you can't help but look away even though it's obviously really, really fucked up. Very now that said, I am sat for this movie and I'm very excited. So sad for this movie and for doing three and everybody's talking about like, this is going to be one of the greatest years for an actor ever. And to that I say, yeah. Yep. That is fucking correct. Phoebe Richards isn't a movie by the way. Can confirm. Bang. I also want to talk about this because as I said, I was off the internet for long chunks of time and when I would go on, the only thing I would see was whatever was loud on for you. And, uh, do you know about Hollywood? I'm sorry. Uh, shit. Universal horror, universal Halloween horror nights. I don't know entirely about it, but I know where this is going. So I happened to be in last year we were in LA and I went to Universal Studios and it was then that they were going to close it or always the day of Halloween actually. And they were closing it early because they had to get ready for Halloween horror nights. And I was like, oh, that looks fun. Should we go to it, looked into it and it's, they just make the places fucking freaky as possible and they make it a bunch of shit from like the, uh, like that terrifier guy, like they have the killers from movies there and they just try to think that that's a real IP. I, I, I, I've never met a person who is a fan of the terrifier. I've never seen any of those. Rear Ripley, bro. Would you say? Rear Ripley. Rear Ripley. She's one of like the biggest women's wrestlers in the world. She's like obsessed with terrifier. Yeah. She obsessed with the movies or she obsessed with like the branding of exactly. Well, yeah, I, I don't know. I think it's, it's more the vibe and the, the energy that surrounds terrifier. I'm around movies a lot and I'm around people who like horror movies a lot and I've never had anybody be like, you got to check out the new terrifier. And apparently there's like seven of them. Yeah. Jesus. Not interested. And I see, I mean, I've seen every saw, I've seen every purge. I've seen last purge movie, by the way, the forever purge. So you saw that, right? Pete, the forever purge. Yes. The one with like the border, like actually good movie. Yeah. Again. So when we get into like the, like, is it a good movie? Is it a bad movie? Let me be able to fucking care about purge movies, but there was a good one in there very oddly. They're adding to it. Nikki, Nikki Freeman from obsession. That character is going to be part of the Halloween horror nights. And I am endlessly fascinated by and I'm, I'm hoping that we're not going to talk down to anybody here. The, there is a segment of the fan base for the film obsession, which Sean, you have still not seen? No, but I know I'm fully aware of this kind of, this aspect of the conversation around the movie about kind of like who's the bad person who's the villain in the movie, type thing. Respectfully, there is a low media literacy. Yeah, like a low media literacy section of the fan base of this movie that I see it all the time on threads. People will be like, oh, damn. So when bear breaks the one wish willow, he's making a wish then. And like talking about things in this movie that are like, threats to the place on the planets, like talking about things, like events from the movie as though they're like, like Easter eggs or like various analysis. And it's just, it's just the movie thing. And yeah, and so there is, there's a group of people that talk about the movie that way. And there's a large group of people like me who talk about how people talk about the movie that way. And it's very fascinating. People are mad that Nikki is going to be part of this Halloween horror night because Nikki, the spoiler alert, the killer in the movie, is in fact a victim. So why should you be parading a victim around as though they're a bad person. And that's where the lit media literacy thing comes in where killers in like every horror movie, something was done to them. They were turned into this or they were abusing this way. It's like a lot of fucking horrible shit. But no movie screams. This is the only movie its audience has ever seen. To me more than obsession. It fucking, it's fucking fascinating. And peak now there's like, are you seeing like there is a mob of people who are like, can't have the killer represent the killing in the movie. We are woke. I mean, I think that we might be just be living in like the the dumbest time to ever be alive. It's possible. I just like, I consider myself particularly woke. But I also consider myself. Somebody with brains. Someone based in fucking reality. Yeah. Some of this shit legitimately breaks my brain as to how you can arrive there. And like, I don't know if it's like the pressure on, I don't know if it's, I don't know if like all of these people are young, but I don't know if like a lot of these people are feeling pressured to have takes on movies that are kind of different or woke or like there's like a woke Olympics that happens with every movie that's released. But you don't have to win the woke Olympics with every movie that's released. And you don't have to have, you don't have to have an unbelievable take that nobody else has had on every movie that's ever been released. Now that you've said that, yes, the fuck we do. Every time we see a movie from now on, I want to do the woke Olympics on Patreon. That is unbelievable. Remember when, I mean, remember when three billboards came out and at the end spoilers, she goes and teams up with like the racist sociopath. And they're like, that movie's fucked up because they made the racist sociopath the good guy. I'm like, no, they made her the bad guy. I've been seeing a lot of stuff on the internet recently about like woke two versus woke one. I feel like there's a lot of people on the internet that might still be kind of stuck in woke one. But to me, it doesn't like the fact that anybody's thinking about it fucking at all because I put the comment up like that's the that's the creepy part. That's all that it's like the point of the park is to be scary. And there's nothing scary about bear breaking a fucking stick in front of you. Like the scary part is the person who got put under a fucking curse or whatever and turned into a a bloody murderous freak. Like it doesn't that's all the rest to it. Dude, Sean, you threw up the comment that somebody was like, and I saw a tweet about this. It was like, I've made the most scariest Halloween horror night. It's bear walking around like bears virgin ass walking around with a stick. Jason's mom, like all the people who are like the true bad guys. And it's just a bunch of like fucked up people. It's just it's a Halloween horror night is just the fucking system. There are no characters. It's a patriarchy dude. It's just a patriarchy in the system.
- My favorite one was someone responded to that and they were like, "I'm going to the Saw 6 Horror Night "and it's all the people who work for the healthcare system." (laughing) - Yes. - It's just a bunch of people in suits. And you're like, "Oh, yes." - Eddie Winslow from Family Matters. Not a drop of blood anywhere. - It's the best. - Yeah. Okay. Let's-- - Can I take this? - We do have a bit of breaking news. It's not on the fun side from hockey. The hockey Canada appeal board have put out their suspensions for the five players involved. Alex Formington reinstated immediately. CalFoot suspended until November 10th, 2026. Carter Hart suspended until November 10th, 2027. Dillon Dubay suspended until November 10th, 2028. Michael McLeod suspended until November 10th, 2030. - 30, sorry. So I think that's just for international play. - I was going to say, if you think any of those men are wearing a Canada jersey again, the rest of their lives, I've got a fucking Michael Misa number 29 alternate captain jersey to sell you. Okay. No fucking way, whole Zay. I've got a Michael Misa hamburger flipper hockey stick to sell you. No shot. - Yeah. - No, no, no. - I mean, I would love to believe that, but like, Canada's goal-tending situation. Like, I feel like they could really find a way to maybe do a dipsy, do a dance and do being like, Carter Hart made the Stanley Cup final. - Yeah, I was Carter Hart's gold medal game Pete. Not very good. Was he the worst gold medal game goalie in NHL history? This postseason, I believe he might have been. Okay, what I miss in PLL, like Boston went crazy. Showed the hell out. Big, big day in Boston for the PLL. Big turnout. I don't know if we have like the photos, but our guy RJ sent photos and like, it was banged out. And I will say, throwback grade for the Boston Canons. Tremendous. Like, you saw the jersey and it was like kind of plan. It's just like a red jersey with Boston on it. But you pair that with the helmet that they had with the decal. Like that, that is a tremendous look. - The throwback stuff this week was quite nice. Especially some of the helmets, the lizard, the New York lizard helmet had the, like the snake skin print going down the thing. Like the throwback stuff was quite good. Very good. And we're playoff starting like a couple of months, I think. They're coming up. The last week of the regular season. - Yeah. - So last week of the regular season, which I did see the goalie for the Utah archers, Dobson, two straight seasons, 'cause Utah doesn't play this night out coming week. Two straight seasons where he has finished with a save percentage over 50%. Which insane to me. 'Cause first off, I mean, that just shows you how fucking impossible that, like I've said, I don't understand why anyone signs up to be across goalie 'cause seems impossible. But the idea that somebody can save over half of those shots kind of blows my fucking mind. Like, I don't understand how this is possible. - How big is this guy? 'Cause I just feel like the job of lacrosse goalie is have the ball hit you by accident most of the time. And maybe he's just bigger than most of the goalies. - A lot of the goalies that I have seen in the PLL are not massive. Brett Dobson, I don't know, I gotta find where his size is, but he is six to 200 pounds. Oh, he went to say Bonavetcher. That's a fucking school here. - That's crazy. - I don't know, I'm shot up by Thompson. - That's a. - Woosh, G.M. - Woosh G.M. Yeah, same Bonavetcher. One of my, one of my, one of my safety schools. Yeah, he also plays in the NLL, but that's another thing. - That's literally their nickname. - No, I'm laughing at Sean saying, that was one of my safety schools. (laughing) - It was, a lot of kids from my eyes going to go in there, but he also plays in the NLL, which is funny to me because like the NLL goalies are dressed up like fucking transformers. Like they've got insane amounts of gear on. So transitioning from that to feel the cross where you're not wearing anything and still being the best in the league, I'm not gonna say here and pretend that I know I'm a lacrosse, a goal-tending specialist, but on its face seems kind of insane to me. - Sean, do you have, you've got a sports interaction for me? - I can, yeah, so I can. I was looking back at some of the hockey odds we were talking about earlier. - Yeah, let me set it up. It's brought to you by sports interaction sports, we can casino every game is your game and you bet with sports interaction. But the action on every period, every shift, every shot with Canada's homegrown sports, book sports interaction, Ontario or Alberta only must be 19 plus in Ontario, 18 plus in Alberta. Please, and I do mean please, play responsibly, Sean. What have you got for me, baby? - I mean, the, it was a lot of what we were talking about earlier, like the Bruins have clearly some of the worst odds to do anything in the East. But so do Detroit Red Wings. And I was very surprised to see that the Detroit Red Wings take to win the division, tired with the Bruins to have the worst odds. I just don't understand that. - I don't feel like, especially if Dylan Larkin's on in the team, are the Red Wings gonna be any good? - Like, yo, what if Dylan Larkin's on the team and they go on a run and make the playoffs? And there's a, he jaked to brusque himself where it's the eye-demand of the trade. And I'm still here and we all know eye-demand of the trade, except here's the thing, people forgot this. Jake to brusque was not the captain of the Boston Bruins. - Yeah, I mean, like, I think that there's a possibility that like they get off to a good start, they go on a run, maybe they sneak into the playoffs and then all is forgiven, all is forgotten. He just wants to be on a winning team. Finally, they've taken steps in the right direction. They can spin it in a way that's palatable for everybody. But more likely than not, even if they go on a run, they'll probably shit their pants in late spring and we'll be right back to where we started for like a third straight year. - No doubt. And this is a fun check in. The Panthers are the favorites to win the Stanley Cup, which is hilarious. - We checked it on their goal-tending. I mean, I feel like people are just forgetting that their goal-tending is Jacob Markström and Akira Shmeed. - Hey, I don't like the respect Akira. I do, but he's a backup goal-tender. - No, he did that cool thing one time in Columbus. And by cool thing, I mean, the dumbest penalty I've ever seen. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - Front of the podcast, curious shit. - But yeah, I don't know. The Panthers, I know that we all kind of approach the Panthers with like, they're obviously going to be good again. Like last year was the following year, but instantly being putting back into the mantle of favorite, a little surprising to me, but. - Yeah, dude. They're, look at their entire lineup. They're going, yeah, their goalies are very questionable. And I do mean very questionable. Not just like, oh, all every team has a weakness. Like, no, that is a, that'll be a huge weakness on even a bad team. That goal-tending tandem would be maybe the worst part of a bad team. But. - Remember when Markström thick was like the answer for the doubles? - Yeah, I mean, Markström was good at a certain point in time. Like, for a stretch, he was pretty good. And the devil's just got him like a year or two to late. And now the panthers have been like, that's our guy. I don't understand that part of it. - Okay, every game is your game and you bet with sports interaction from puck drop to overtime, bet with live odds on every play with easy deposits and payouts. There's a lot more to catch up on. - That's true, yeah, summer episodes we can forgive. - Also, you asked about the cross game in Boston. Did you see how that ended with the canons? How they won that game? The goal tender just took the, like, took the ball out. They whistled something. I don't fully understand the rules of the cross, but the goal, the goalie had the ball. They whistled, played dead. He had to just put the ball down on the ground. The other team got it. He did like a light jog back to the, to the net. And they, as soon as play resume, they just shot it into the empty net as he had his back to the play. And that was an overtime and that won the game. I was so confused. So I was like, right? - Right couple of, right couple of days for weird sports rule shit. Well, what happened in the, in the last game? - That was the best in the, the baseball game. Apparently, PDs in the chat, and everyone is celebrating that he's there. Make sure to do a little right click, open a new tab on his name, and make sure you are subscribed to inside the coach's room. It is our favorite YouTube channel. Shall we run through? Yeah, unless it's that big dog, then in which case, I'm on team big dogs. Team baby. Luxury trash says under this logic, Miko Rennan is awe-inspiring because he's a moose. That's correct. He is awe-inspiring. Inspiring. Yeah. Miko Rennan is one of the bigger awe-inspiring players in the NHL, both endearing and derogatory. Famously, I declared Miko Rennan a blank check guy for the Colorado Avalanche. And instead, they gave it to Marty, who Pete feels was an underpayment. Yeah, that's correct. Anna Reeves says, "I would like to apologize for last minute subscribing to the MLB package just to watch the Epic Red Sox run. They haven't won since I made that move. Thank you very much, Anna Reeves. Appreciate you. I did the same exact thing, actually. I subscribed. I subscribed the night of the 13 inning masterpiece like Game of the Century, and then it all went down hill after that. Luxury trash. The fisherman logo is from the worst period in Ireland's history, yet we still try to reclaim it. They reclaim it like it's some sort of slur time to let it go. I mean, it's a good logo. You can't hold it against the logo that the teams were bad. You can reclaim it. Luxury trash. We haven't had an orange jersey since 2007. I think that's fine. I don't think the islanders need an orange jersey just because it's one of their colors. And that's such a loud color. Sorry, I know you got to fly through these. We as a society have an orange is such a loud color that if there is an orange jersey, people are going to be like, yeah, that's the Home Depot jersey. That's all right. That's right. Where he belongs at the right hand of the shouldn't fucking waited to do the Dustin Brown statue with Anje Co-Patar. I will die on that hill. It's ridiculous that there was any point in time where Dustin Brown had his own statue outside of Staples Center. No, that's way funnier considering all the other statues. It's absolutely funnier. The Dustin Brown statue is the best text you can have. Ambassador to Greece. I've decided analytical darling centers are now called data centers. It's important for you to know this. Absolutely will adopt that. Thank you very much. Great idea. Renee said. Oh, you missed one, I think. Oh, I missed one. Emma Havens had my first drink. I ran into a conrux fan at the wet leg show. I haven't checked out Ted Lasso. I will probably happen. I don't. I watched the first episode. Uh oh. It's, it's, it's, I feel like Ted Lasso is starting to cannibalize itself where it's becoming aggressively Ted Lasso and I think that Bill Lawrence kind of tipped his hand a little bit in the shows that he makes and sort of the formula that they follow and what they eventually become and unfortunately they're kind of after school especially. That's how I felt about yeah. Ted Lasso at towards it and feel like you really hate the lighting in this in the first episode of Ted Lasso. I might if it's harsh. I probably will. All right. Is that, uh, is that all we got? Yes it is. Okay. Amazing. Love everybody. I will be back in studio. I apologize that I've been away, but you know, the vacation time is one to do these things blah, blah, blah, blah, and uh, everybody whether it's Pete, Sean, uh, Evan who helps us with social media.

We've been filling in the cracks while we've been away and I feel really good about the summer that what chaos is having, but not as good as I feel about the upcoming season, because let me tell you, we got an absolute party ahead of us. We're starting to plan the stuff that we're going to do ahead of the season and it's going to rock in the meantime. Everybody watched Ted Lasso and subscribe to the Patreon if you want to hear us talk about whatever. That sound like I was setting us a setting up a Ted Lasso episode. We're not going to have a Ted Lasso episode. No, maybe I'm at the point in the off season where I'm like really trying to enjoy what's left of it, but also on the other hand, I'm ready. I'm ready to get back to it a little bit. I'm ready for some hockey on my plate. DJ, some of the back balance time highlight a couple of weeks ago and I was like, Oh, man, he's I feel something. The fisherman logo design is noted as a favorite, but the horizontal stripe in the 'Isles' jersey is considered too similar to the San Francisco Giants and feels overly baseball-forward.

There's concern that AI was used to generate them, which raises questions about quality control and authenticity, even if the Stars did not explicitly use AI.
