The Creature That Stalks You Across Time | The Rake & Why I'll Never Work at Disney World
40m 7s
The Campfire Task Force explores two chilling online horror stories: the "rake," a centuries-old creature reported in fragmented, anonymous accounts across time, and a disturbing incident at Disney World involving a family who vanish after repeatedly riding the “It’s a Small World” attraction. The rake stories feature recurring elements—visits during sleep, conversations with personal names, and psychological torment—suggesting a sentient, intelligent entity that preys on fear and is actively erased from records. The Disney story reveals a family’s disappearance linked to over 700 ride photos, showing mounting signs of distress, with the final images showing the parents and children in lifeless states. The narrative implies a systemic cover-up by Disney, using surveillance and data tracking to conceal the truth. Both tales embody psychological horror, blending real-world detail with supernatural elements, and raise questions about consciousness, memory, and institutional control. The episodes highlight how urban legends evolve through shared trauma and secrecy, leaving audiences with a deep sense of unease and the unsettling idea that some truths are meant to remain buried. The host reflects on how these stories challenge the line between reality and fiction, urging listeners to question what they know and what they’re meant to forget.
He came to me in my sleep, from the foot of my bed I felt a sensation, and he took everything. We shall not come here again at the request of. the rake. Welcome back to the Campfire Task Force. Pull up a log and settle in because it is 3 a.m. somewhere, which means it's time for red web scary stories. The series where I, Trevor Collins, share my favorite terrifying tales from the internet, was my friend Alfredo Diaz. Hello, hello. I've never done so many scary things, stories, episodes, on location. To this damn show. Yes, sir. And now I'm just listening to scary stories all the time, which as a child, it'd be, um. Are you afraid of the dark and I'd be terrified every time I'd gamble, whether or not I'd be. It was a gamble, yeah. If you're gonna stay up, or if you're gonna be able to get some sleep that night. Mm-hmm. Listen, it is my pleasure to be able to take you back into the past, and some of my favorite creepypastas, and today is no exception. I don't know, let me ask you, have you ever heard of the rake, the creature? I've never heard of it, at all, whatsoever. Oh, yes. But I do love creature features, so I'm very intrigued. It's evolved over the years, so let me give you this up front task force. It will be an exploration of the initial write-up. This is the initial story that kicked off the phenomenon of the rake, and since then, it has evolved. Maybe we'll revisit it someday in its modern iteration. There's also some old images that went along with it, so I'm excited to show you those at the end. But we're going to explore today two stories. Like I said, one about this mysterious creature that has been scrubbed from the records with few documented counters surviving the centuries. And then we have another horrifying time twisting encounter in the happiest place on Earth. Disneyland? World. Oh, Disney World? Hold on a second. Is there a civil war, which one's the happiest place? I guess they're both the happiest place, and then you just choose which one you want to go to. You can't have both be happiest. I mean, you'd be world. World is just bigger than land, I think, is smaller. Yeah. Although you have like California adventure and stuff. I've never been into Disney that hard, even though I went to Walt Disney Elementary School. Oh my god. I forgot about that lore. That Frato lore. You did go, oh, maybe you just got out of your system. You were just like desensitized to the name Walt? Yeah. I mean, we take it like pre-tickets occasionally, or discounts, what, what not. And you know, all the different bungalows were named after different characters. It was a whole thing. That's wild. I know. It's wild there. You really like kind of sponsor a school, in a sense? I don't know. It wasn't like when you learned geometry, was it through that videotape where Donald Duck is showing you geometry on the pool table? Do you ever watch that? No, I didn't, somehow, and did not. Okay. Well, I definitely have that deep in my crevices from eighth grade in my brain crevices. But without further ado, we have two incredible stories to dive into. Hold on to that memory of Disney because, you know, maybe I'll give you one less reason to want to go back after this story. And before we begin, I do want to say this first story was voted on by the task force at redwebpod.com. So come join us, support the show, and join our Patreon. But submitted for the approval of the task force, this is the rake. During the summer of 2003, events in the Northeastern United States involving a strange human-like creature sparked brief local media interest before an apparent blackout was enacted. Little or no information was left intact, as most online and written accounts of the creature were mysteriously destroyed. Primarily focused in rural New York state and once found in Idaho, self-proclaimed witnesses told stories of their encounters with a creature of unknown origin. Emotions ranged from extremely traumatic levels of fright and discomfort to an almost childlike sense of playfulness and curiosity. While their published versions are no longer on record, the memories remain powerful. Several of the involved parties began looking for answers that year. Then in early 2006, the collaboration had accumulated nearly two dozen documents dating between the 12th century and present day, spanning four continents. In almost all cases, the stories were identical. I've been in contact with a member of this group and was able to get some excerpts from their upcoming book. The first one comes from a Mariners log dated 1691, in which it says, "He came to me in my sleep. From the foot of my bed, I felt a sensation. He took everything. We must return to England. We shall not come here again at the request of the rake." The next one comes from a journal entry translated from Spanish dated 1880. It says, "I have experienced the greatest terror. I have experienced the greatest terror. I see his eyes when I close mine. They are hollow, black. They saw me and pierced me. His wet hand, I will not sleep. His voice. And the rest is unintelligible. The next one comes from a suicide note dated 1964. It says, "As I prepare to take my life, I feel it necessary to assuage any guilt or pain I have introduced through this act. It is not the fault of anyone other than him. For once, I awoke and felt his presence. And once I awoke and saw his form, once again, I awoke and heard his voice and looked into his eyes. I cannot sleep without fear of what I might next awake to experience. I cannot ever wake. Goodbye." Found in the same wooden box were two empty envelopes, addressed to William and Rose, and one loose personal letter with no envelope that said, "Dearest Lini, I have prayed for you. He spoke your name." So this creature, this thing, is kind of interesting. Already I'm kind of understanding that it has some sort of intelligence. And also, it's very aware of others and lots of warning and knowing other people's names. I don't know what to do with that. Like, if I had this creature, the rake, visit me and then start saying, you know, "Christian's name and whatnot." You know what I mean? Yeah, yes. I'm like, "One terrifying, I'm being visited." Two, like, "What do I talk about?" This thing came and started saying your name, like, everyone, all these other letters, and it's just like, "What do we go from there?" I do. You're on a something. I love how this is laid out. It feels like a red web episode, but it conveys so much depth with such brief stories. Like, it looking into your eyes and waking up to see this thing. It's building up to kind of teasing you here. The final story that we have on record. But I also love that through these brief glimpses, we get depth. We get intrigue. We get a little bit of terror. But we also know that there's something else going on, almost like the government knows. Because in this 2003 event, it started going viral online. Then there was a blackout to basically wipe it off of online. And so, this concerted effort to scrub it from history means that we only have these scraps. And why is it being scrubbed from the records? Is it the creature itself? Is somebody else being threatened? Do we know about it? Is knowledge of it dangerous itself? It raises so many questions. I'm immediately picturing vividly waking up to this, looking into its eyes and it whispering someone's name that I know. Yeah, the intelligence, like you're saying, is really unsettling. And the fact that it's being scrubbed validates it. And yeah, you could go super height 10 foil hat and say that this is what the government wants. They're doing this. They're validating it to distract you. All those kinds of things. But I mean, there's still a level of validation that you're getting here by things being scrubbed that you don't get with other stuff. Yeah, totally. And I think what makes this one particularly unique. As we continue through the story, I want you to think about this. It was posted initially in the summer of 2006. And it's posted almost like a blog. It's posted in the present tense because the final witness is from 2006. And so it is part of that generation one or almost generation zero creepy pasta where it feels like, hold on a second. Is this real? Is this like a rumor creeping through into a story format? It's almost like, is there a whistleblower of some sort of strange creature that's out there? It's kind of like an early iteration of Slenderman or back rooms where you can almost see like, wait a minute, is this thing real? For that reason, it became very tactile and it has stood the test of time. The last story comes from a witness dated 2006. Three years ago, I had just returned from a trip to Niagara Falls with my family for the 4th of July. We were all very exhausted after a long day of driving so my husband and I put the kids straight to bed and called in a night. At about 4am, I woke up thinking my husband had gotten up to use the restroom. I used this moment to steal back the sheets only to wake him up in the process. apologized and told him I
thought he was out of bed. When he turned to face me, he gasped, and he pulled his feet up from the end of the bed so quickly, his knee almost knocked me out of the bed. He then grabbed me and said nothing. After adjusting to the dark for half a second, I was able to see what caused the strange reaction. At the foot of the bed, sitting and facing away from us, was what appeared to be a naked man, or a large, hairless dog of some sort. Its body position was disturbing and unnatural as if it had been hit by a car or something. For some reason, I was not instantly frightened by it, but more concerned as to its condition. At this point, I was somewhat under the assumption that we were supposed to help him. Oh, first off, sorry, terrifying a random man. Oh, right, yeah. How do you gloss over that? Yeah, I don't even know what's even worse that it's kind of looking like a dog or that he's naked. Oh, be honest. Both are highly threatening in their own ways. Yeah, this is a naked dog that looks like it got run over. Nothing about this says, oh, it needs my help. Everything says, either the goal rule number one, all hands and feet come inside the bed, you can't be touched. Rule rule number two, get up and run out of that house and call the cops. That's the kind of call the cops. Yeah, the thing is like, also, I'll be honest, it's just like if he's naked, I'm just mixed emotions. You know what I mean? Sure. I'm terrified, but also grossed out. Like, I'm looking at him. I'm looking at him in the face. I'm looking at my exit. I'm looking at his private. I'm looking at him in the face again. Oh, well, I'm looking at the exit. I'm back to his private. It's just, no, not looking at it. Well, sure. Okay, does it make it better or worse? Seriously, though, it makes it confusing is what it does. I'm definitely confusing. I'm frightened, but I'm also just like frightened, panicked, panicked, grossed out, like trying to be like here on my own mind, grossed out again, panicking again, like, it's all over the place. It is the true fighter flight. This is you honestly confronted with your own methods, right? When somebody wants to fight, your instinct is to go butaneck is down because nobody wants to fight that. So now, how do you grapple with that reality? Yeah, yeah, you know, he threw my strategy back at me. He knew. Yeah. Does it help that he's facing away? Or is that somehow creepier? Like Blair Witch style, facing the corner, naked, shivering? I think it's worse that he's facing away. Oh god, and he slowly turns around. I mean, yeah, there's this slow turn, but there's something about him being faced the way that I instill that there's confidence in him. The same thing is something he's chasing you slowly. It's like, oh no, like this thing knows it has me. There's a knowledge with that. Yeah. Feel it's very much so, just like, you know, a self instilled confidence in the creature or the being, or it's like, oh, they could do whatever they want because they don't even have to look at it. Like they know they have me, you know? Yes, very apex predator. You're in my territory now. You know, I'm in control. My husband was peering over his arm and knee, tucked into the fetal position, occasionally glancing at me before returning to the creature. In a flurry of motion, it scrambled around the side of the bed, then crawled quickly in a flailing sort of way right along the covers until it was less than a foot from my husband's face. It was completely silent for about 30 seconds. Probably closer to five, but it seemed like a while. Just looking at my husband, then it placed its hand on his knee and ran into the hallway, leading to the kids room. I screamed and I ran for the light switch, planning to stop this thing before it could hurt my children. When I got to the hallway, the light from the bedroom was enough to see it crouching and hunched over about 20 feet away. It turned around and looked directly at me, covered in blood. I flipped the switch on the wall and saw my daughter Clara. The creature ran down the stairs as my husband and I rushed to help our daughter. She was very badly injured and spoke only once more in her short life. She said, "He is the rake." My husband drove his car into the lake that night while rushing our daughter to the hospital. They did not survive. Being a small town, news got around pretty quickly. The police were helpful at first and the local newspaper took a lot of interest as well. However, the story was never published and the local television news never followed up either. For several months, my son Justin and I stayed in a hotel near my parents' house. After we decided to return home, I began looking for answers myself. I eventually located a man in the next town over who had a similar story. We got in contact and talked about our experiences. He knew of two other people in New York who had seen the creature we now refer to as the rake. It took the four of us two solid years of hunting on the internet and writing letters to come up with a small collection of what we believe to be accounts of the rake. None of them gave any details, history or follow-up. One journal had an entry involving the creature in the first three pages then never mentioned it again. A ship's log explained nothing of the encounter, saying only that they were told to leave by the rake. That was the last entry in the log. There were however many instances where the creature's visit was one of a series of visits with the same person. Multiple people also mentioned being spoken to, my daughter included. This led us to wonder if the rake had visited any of us before our last encounter. I set up a digital recorder near my bed and left it running all night every night for two weeks. I would tediously scan through the sounds of me rolling around in the bed each day when I woke up. By the end of the second week, I was quite used to the occasional sound of sleep while blurring through the recording at eight times the normal speed. It still took almost an hour every day. On the first day of the third week, I thought I heard something different. What I found was a shrill voice. It was the rake. I can't listen to it long enough to even begin to transcribe it. I haven't let anyone listen to it yet. All I know is I've heard it before, and I now believe it spoke when it was sitting in front of my husband. I don't remember hearing anything at the time, but for some reason, the voice on the recorder immediately brings me back to that moment. The thoughts that must have gone through my daughter's head make me very upset. I have not seen the rake since it ruined my life, but I know he has been in my room while I slept. I know and fear that one night I'll wake up to see him staring at me. It's like a psychological creature here. Oh, that is plain with you. It's like a lot of mental torment for sure. And the fact that it's like, what do you want, right? If you want me, you came after all the different aspects of my life that are meaningful to me, and now, I don't know, like, what is it what you mean? Yeah, is it like feeding on the psychological terror, like the energy of fear? Is this the one creature that has been around for centuries, and so is it immortal? Does it prey on single families at a time? Right. Or are there many the rakes, and we just don't know anything about the breeding patterns, and it's just living in the woods? Like, I don't know. Yeah, there's so many questions as to like the intricacies of how this thing works, you know? Yeah, I also love the element where she in the moment when it's looking at her husband, she thinks it's dead silent. She doesn't remember hearing anything until suddenly on the recording, it brings it all back. And so part of me wonders if the scrubbing from the internet is maybe proactive humans doing it, but also if the creature itself has a level of forgetability that's built into it, that you're meant to forget something about it. And so she only had it come back when a recorded instance of this creature had it come back. And so maybe someone from the government or whatever scrubbed it from the internet because they didn't want widespread recall that once people saw a picture of it, they would remember having seen it before. And so suddenly, oh, now I'm cooking, now that fear would spiral out of control. And so it's a protective measure. And so they don't want it on the internet. Oh, yeah, what if more of us have seen this before and we just don't remember it. Yeah, that's how I hate that. Oh, no. Yeah, it's okay. I didn't think about that in going on. Okay, now I'm just going to be afraid when I fall asleep that I've had this thing suck in a breath while I'm dreaming about, you know, sheep jumping over fences or whatever I dream about. Yeah, that's that's a wild thought for sure. Okay, well go ahead and open up these two images while we kind of keep talking about it. The first one was included in the very first telling of this creature. And the second one is pretty old as well, the one in the dark, but tell me what you're thinking. First one, I mean, this house just looks abandoned and run down and it's like a silhouette of a man-length creature. It's like just a white. It's like a white. Like a ghost, yeah. Yeah. So I think this is what she saw. Ooh, I don't like the second image. Yeah, the second image is classic rake. I don't, that's a gangly mangool. That is a ghoul if I ever saw one yet. Yeah, black and white in the woods, crawling on all fours. Mm-hmm. No genitals. Hey, might be shadowed. We don't look, you know, we don't know. Could be. It could be. That's a terrible man. I don't like that. I don't want that staring at me. Or if it's just in the corner in the darkness and then a car drives by and she reflects on the eyes from the headlights. Oh man. That's just one big yike. No, I'm clicking scary images in my head. Yeah, I know. I know. Dude, what it, this makes me wonder, dovetailing this with the
conspiracy about UFOs and aliens like what if this is the alien we've all seen you know the gray where it's like a very pale skin minimal features big eyes instead of it being an alien what if it's always been the rake and that's why you know we have these vague memories of it oh yeah now I could see that yeah and then the last image okay yeah the third image the third is just like a it's a very blurry mm-hmm color yes color a little like VHS style yeah VHS style there you go right outside a cabin and it looks like it's just charging a broad daylight yeah really a very angry golem charging oh dude yes very angry golem sunken dark eyes that one for some reason carries so much motion I don't know that I love analog horror yeah but there's so much motion in that one still image that I can feel it and it carries so much scare so much terror just in that one image but yeah the rake is a classic tale there's been so many other iterations of it I believe there was a movie or at least some sort of short film in like 2018 so it's been around the block with more and more vivid encounters and tellings and stories of it's building out over the years but ultimately this is the cornerstone of like the foundation the origin yeah the rake I've just never heard of it yeah you grew up on different corners of the internet that's sure probably way less terrifying when we're healthy for your sleep and what happened yep but speaking of this next one I don't know how big or popular it is it probably is pretty big to be honest but it holds a special place in my heart because it is one that I think about every time I think about Disney it just lives in my head rent free and I've been on this particular ride multiple times since knowing this story and I think the type of scare that it brings is unique and continues to layer in more types of horror into this series so I'm very excited to share with you oh okay this one's called why I'll never work security at Disney World again I work in security at Disney World the happiest place on earth typically I wouldn't say where I work as obviously there are some pretty strict rules about things employees can put online but I just don't think I can tell this properly without the context and honestly I think this may be it for me anyway with this job I just can't see myself working here any longer I've been with the company for 23 years the first 20 years I worked in the parks nabbing shoplifters and rounding up people who were drinking too much for the heat occasionally there'd be a fight to break up but people usually kept it pretty mild the heat and walking were getting too much for me the last years so I asked to be transferred somewhere with air conditioning and the company moved me to one of their resorts while the working conditions were 110% better as far as climate and comfort go the guest issues were trickier mainly domestics I guess the expense and stress of vacation got to a lot of people and I'd be called by neighboring rooms because some mom and dad were yelling at each other I'd try to suggest they take a nap or go do separate activities for a bit and that would usually calm them down but none of that is what I'm here for I've got to get this out while I have the time three days ago I got a call from management apparently a couple of days before that house keeping it gone into a room that should have been turned over that day and all the guest items were still in the room turning over is where one of the guest leaves by about 11 a.m. in the next guest checks in by 3 p.m. Housekeeping had made a note of it and moved on but during the next two days when they entered the room everything was still there and untouched I went to check it out and sure enough there was an empty room full of luggage clothes snacks some toys everything a family would need for vacation the manager had already looked up the previous reservation and it was for a family mom dad two little kids I tried to call the phone numbers they had given but all I got was a voicemail we were a bit stumped by this so I made the call that the housekeeper could clean the room and take the family's personal items to be held until we got in contact with someone I went digging into the reservations more the family had arrived five days before housekeeping discovered their stuff I found the family had paid a parking fee and their vehicle description was listed a quick walk of the parking lots and I had easily located their vehicle so that ruled out a car accident or them deciding to just leave and leave all their stuff behind next I saw that they had bought a dining plan this is when the guest prepays for all their food they're given a certain number of credits to use for meals the family had only used three credits and the last one was two days after they checked in it appeared that the day they arrived they got here late and probably just stayed at the resort the next day they used two credits at Epcot the second park day they used just one credit at the magic kingdom and it was for breakfast time now at Disney we have something called magic bands magic bands are worn by guests and act as a room key park ticket credit card dining reservation payment fast pass and more it took some work but I was finally able to look up the family's fast pass history the day they went to magic kingdom they had breakfast at a restaurant in the park wrote a couple of rides and then rode their last ride it's a small world around 11 a.m. then nothing finally it was time to bring in someone else on this I called an old coworker at the magic kingdom and asked him to pull security footage for its a small world at the time they wrote it and I made my way over there when I got there my friend was very confused almost distraught looking he showed me what he found there's usually a camera in the direction of where the rides load and unload the footage showed them scanning their bands to use fast passes for the ride and boarding the ride the footage from the exit of the ride just showed other people in their car exiting they weren't there of course we thought the worst maybe one of the kids had fallen out and mom and dad and the other kid got off in the middle of the ride to help and they all got injured or killed or stuck in machinery somewhere so we shut down the ride middle of the day turned off that earworm music and turned up the lights my buddy and I walked that ride three times before we called in help eventually there were close to 10 cast members searching and we didn't find anything except for three cell phones and a hat I love the fact that we're coming from the point of like you know something that has authority some sense of authority right at the theme parks and that's why we're looking at cameras this is like a detective you know what I mean we're tracing their steps and everything like that mm-hmm but you'd have to think it just got feeling that if someone was a go missing or disappear Disneyland it's because the company has some sort of involvement there's so many security measures doors doors on doors people you got to get through yeah yeah so says I just outright disappear has to be some sort of anomaly or the fact that the park wants you've got oh that's the mystery but you're right I mean like I don't think you could go anywhere in Disney without being seen in some way now with that said there are all sorts of urban explorers who go into the defunct areas that are closed down that you know I forget the name of the animatronic but it's like this little boy bought from an old ride that was stolen like somebody stole an old animatronic I've seen people boldly walk into these back halls that oh they then stumble into like staff members and they're like you're not supposed to be here and they go oh sorry I was looking for the rest room you know so there are like really mysterious back rooms where people can go but otherwise you know if you're where you can be normally like within the rules or whatever I feel like you're covered and so you're right like to not be on tape especially getting on a ride and not off the ride big red flag something is wrong yeah I also love the the very tangible very intelligent path that this person has taken to like quickly figure out where to go and where they might be the magic bands is you know probably a big part of that and you know you're tracking everything about this person yeah I love that they you know cool common collected dial it into one location I was stumped I've kept digging the past couple of days and I'm not sure who to tell what I've found next I've called the police and I suppose they're on their way but the company has a way of covering up things like this and I decided I can't live with myself if I don't put out some type of warning I kept digging into their reservation over the last couple of days and today I noticed they had purchased memory maker there are photographers all over the parks and cameras in a lot of the rides and with memory maker the photos are all free they automatically get added to a guest Disney account when the system knows their picture has been taken and the system always knows everyone's whereabouts are always known with the magic bands while I opened up their memory maker photo album and I swear there are 732 pictures so I'll say that's a lot I mean like yeah no everyone has the bands and it's a part of the system and makes a perfect sense that you use the you know they track them mm-hmm and that's just a lot of data because you think about the tens of thousands that are passing through on a daily basis hundreds on a weekly basis and yeah yeah a lot of data is set through I'm sure they got it all categorized by
band ID and everything like that, but I think it on them, they have a system. They got a good system. Now this so far, I will be honest, address this like up front. It feels like an advertisement. These bands, the abilities, is about to become an anti-advertisement real quick. Oh. I swear, there are 732 pictures. The first 30 or so are pretty normal. Epcot, a few rides in front of the castle, but the rest. The rest are all in. It's a small world. The rides only take one picture per go round. So it appears as though the family has ridden this ride over 700 times. Whoa, okay, hold on now. How is it even possible? And, and secondly, now just maybe because of my own, I just know a lot of people, I know a couple people that are like hardcore Disney fans and there's always the conspiracy around it's a small world. Oh, tell me more. I have no idea about it. It's just like a little intricate things with the dolls or entrances or all that stuff and the music and the meaning behind the music and all these different things that like, it's like one of the big kind of like conspiracy rides. Yeah. And then the haunted mansion is the one where it's like, oh, that's the paranormal one. There's all kinds of different stories about paranormal stuff around there, but I feel like this one's kind of playing to that knowledge. Sure. We'll see. I want to see where it goes. Yeah, I'm very interested in knowing more about the conspiracies because I've heard about like bones being buried at the haunted mansion, but just real quick to really give you an idea. That ride, I'm guesstimating. It's a small world is about six and a half minutes. That's my best guesstimate. It's not a quick ride. It's a good experience if you want to like be out of the heat, out of the lines. 700 times, six and a half minutes each. That's over three days of constantly riding it. The first picture was pretty normal. Everyone looked happy. It was a busy day and we had a full car of guests. The next one is rough to look at. The car is empty except for this little family and they look so darn confused. The next 10 to 15, I can see the dad is getting angry, yelling. Mom is holding on to her two kids like her life depends on it and you can see the kids getting increasingly upset, crying. And it goes on and on and on. After 50 or so, it looks like they're trying to get out. And one, the dad is missing and another, they're all gone. Maybe like they've bailed early in the ride and tried to walk out, but in the very next one, they're all right back in that car. After around 450 or so, I only see the mom and kids. It's just when I look closely, I can see dad, maybe just his body now. Slump down in one of the other seats. Since about 675, there's just mom and one kid, another body and another seat. The mom and the kid aren't moving anymore. I think they're still alive just near catatonic, looking straight ahead, pale. And I swear on my life, the dolls are moving or something. And some of these pictures, I can tell, they aren't where they should be. I even saw one with a doll in the car with the family. I can't look anymore or I'm going to lose my lunch. I closed the album, its file size has increased since I closed it. God, are there new pictures being added? I see on the security cameras that the local police department just arrived, so they'll take over soon. I wish I knew what was going on, but I also wish this damn thing had never landed in my lap. I don't think I'll be able to update this. After I talk to police, I'm going to walk out of here and never come back. I just wanted to get this out there, before Disney feeds the media some lies to cover up the reasons behind why this family vanished because they didn't vanish. I know exactly where they are. Oh, man, put a twisted way to go and put a story on it. It is me. Dude, I hate it so much because like obviously, you know, that's not going to happen, you know, but just the idea, I love he didn't overhang like his welcome with this. It is a very earworm of a tune in this place, but if you haven't ridden this ride, you've probably heard the "It is my world!" and you're just riding this for days on end, hearing this nonstop. These dolls are encroaching on you. You're panicking. They attack your dad or your husband and now one of the children, dark enough. What do you do? Yeah, I have no idea. I mean, that's it. You're stuck. You trapped. The scariest place on earth. But also, it's like, I mean, like, you know, money, governments, etc., etc., but also how do you cover this up? The family clearly was there. I'm sure their friends know that they're going to Disneyland. I'm sure it's probably almost on social media, but you know, nowadays. Totally. And so, hey, Disney, how you cover all that up? With much effort, Disney wipes out everyone that ever knew them. Yeah, oh god. Then you just end up taking out Kevin Bacon because in some way, we all have our path back to Kevin Bacon, right? Yeah, I don't know. I love the idea of this being a cover up because it dovetails into, like you said, there's other conspiracies that revolve around Disney. And maybe someday in red web, we should just cover the conspiracy theories surrounding Disney world. I don't know why we haven't done that. Christian dot that one down. Yeah, that's it. Oh, yeah, that's going to be a bang for sure. Yeah. Why did I think of that? That sounds really, really fun because like the big one, and I think this is what this story is predicated on. The big one is that people have died there, but the ideas that no one's died on property is that that's the whole angle of it is, and I don't know much more beyond that. Like, I don't know if it's like, well, technically they didn't die here because you want it to be very family-friendly, kid-friendly. And if word got out that anyone died anywhere, it's kind of like, oh, I'm not going to take my kid there anymore. I think that's a good point. That's all that's just the furniture, you know? Right, right. Oh, man, I love this one because it is so psychological, and it's just so the way of hand-out, I think, is what made it so interesting, you know? Yeah. I was like, okay, do I'm messing? Where are we going with this? And the fact that I get just one of the rides that, you know, I've written before, people have written. Mm-hmm. And you go, oh, that's, you know, they're just trapped on that link. Oh, okay. Yeah. I also think I'm, I'm loving this particular story type. I think both of these kind of fall into this where it's, I have forbidden knowledge. I have to share this because I found something that I can't live with alone and I got to get this off my chest. I love that format. So one is gathering as much surviving intel on the rake as possible because this happened to my family. And the other is, I saw some stuff, man, you know? Yeah. But yeah, I wonder what the police would do in this moment. Or if they would, if it would just become like a, you know, an unsolved case of a family that disappeared and no one knows, we just don't know. Yeah, but you got to think that that continuously happens. So someone somewhere is going to spot a pattern here and then, you know, like this has happened before. Yeah. If it happened once on the ride, I don't think it's just the first and last time. That's, that's an interesting take, you know, maybe this ride is like, it, it steals people to once again, my theory, feeding on their essence, feeding on their life force by plucking them out of like angels and doctor who, glad I could finally after five and a half years shoved that reference in here. But like they remove you from time. So that way, all your potential, you know, of what you could have been or what you would be or whatever is consumed by them. What if these little, these little freak dolls are just doing that. And so once the season of family goes disappear and then we, who knows, gotta appease the Disney beast. Yeah. I mean, again, I'm sure you know, if that's happening as a file somewhere, you got that thing. I don't know, I don't know. Companies and people and they have enough money to get away with stuff. That's true. That's where things start to get hairy online with conspiracies is like, is this a whistleblower with some sort of secret truth? Or is this a story? Or is this someone who's got their tinfoil hat buckled up a little too tight? You know, like true. And that's where stories like this are, I think, nice because they live right in that little trifecta. You know, you could dabble with the reality of it and wear the fear a little bit more than the bogeyman in the closet, as I like to say. Right. But, but yeah, any final thoughts on our two stories today? I mean, both solid stories. Yeah. And now I'm super excited to just go through Disney conspiracies. Yeah. Yeah, we'll look into that. I won't promise it just in case, you know, I'm sure there's a wealth, just a wealth of things. Yeah, right. But just in case there's only one big conspiracy, then it's like, oh, well, you okay. But that'll be a really interesting episode. But with that, our stories for the night come to an end. Frado, as always, I'll give you two weeks. That's just enough time to forget about the rake. Let your guard down. You'll catch up on some sleep. And when you come back in two weeks, I'll have some more scary stories ready for Korea.
Podcast Summary
Key Points:
The rake is a mysterious, ancient creature described in multiple historical accounts from the 12th century to 2006, with consistent themes of psychological terror and personal knowledge.
Witnesses report encounters involving a humanoid or doglike figure that appears at the foot of beds, speaks their names, and induces fear, often leading to trauma or death.
The stories show a deliberate effort to erase the rake from records, suggesting a possible cover-up by authorities or the creature itself to prevent widespread fear.
A 2006 encounter at a family’s home in New York reveals a terrifying, silent presence that vanishes only after causing the death of a child, who says, “He is the rake.”
A Disney World story describes a family who mysteriously vanish after repeatedly riding “It’s a Small World,” with over 700 photos showing escalating distress and disappearance.
The Disney story implies a systemic cover-up, using technology like magic bands and memory makers to track and erase evidence of the missing family.
Both stories explore the intersection of psychological horror and conspiracy, blurring reality with fabricated or suppressed truths.
The rake and the Disney tale serve as cautionary narratives about hidden dangers, forgotten knowledge, and the fear of being watched or consumed by an unseen force.
Summary:
FAQs
The rake is a mysterious, human-like creature described in a series of fragmented accounts dating back to the 12th century. The story first emerged in 2003 in rural New York and later gained attention through online postings, with the earliest surviving accounts from 1691 to 1964.
Online records of the rake were mysteriously removed or scrubbed, likely as part of a coordinated effort to erase its presence. This suggests the creature or its details may be considered dangerous or threatening to public knowledge.
The accounts suggest the rake is intelligent, aware of individuals, and capable of speaking their names. It appears to be a psychological entity that feeds on fear and trauma, often appearing during sleep or in moments of vulnerability.
A family at Disney World was found to have ridden the 'It's a Small World' ride over 700 times, with photos showing increasing distress, followed by a disappearance of the parents and children. The story raises concerns about possible cover-ups or psychological manipulation.
The story suggests that Disney may use systemic tracking (like magic bands) to monitor guests and that the repeated ride experiences could be a method of psychological control or even disappearance, fueling theories of hidden operations and cover-ups.
The rake is likely a fictional creepypasta with real-world elements of fear and psychological horror. While the stories are not confirmed as factual, they are compelling enough to inspire deep analysis and speculation about paranormal phenomena.
