And let's get going.
Welcome back ladies, how is everybody doing?
So I've been holding all out recording.
Because I've got a bit of a cold,
so I do apologize if I sound a little bit nirzly.
I was actually going to do two episodes this week,
but I just couldn't because I kept sneezing and, yeah.
And that's what I wanted to come on today to talk about.
It's like the calm before the chaos,
or are we already in it?
And like, colds like this.
And when we start to feel run down,
it's a sign that we're doing a lot.
I didn't think I was doing a lot, but I think internally,
we do do a lot.
We don't realise the last two weeks
before Christmas are crucial,
because we are thrown into everything.
We've got things going on at school,
nursery, work.
You know, we've got the Christmas days.
We've got everything going on.
And we just need to make sure that we're looking after ourselves
because we don't get time to breathe.
We set and we kind of,
everything just goes out the window.
And that's like food and exercise.
And everything like that would do.
And we're so regimented in.
We just kind of like lose control.
So it's important that we do sometimes just sit back
and make sure that we're doing lists.
And we are really organised
because it's just mad they sent them in it.
So you might not have them windows
where you can just relax a bit.
So just look at your diary with the next couple of weeks
and think, right, how can I have some time?
How can I make life easier?
And, you know, I'm so lucky we say this,
that my partner helps me and a lot of people's partners
don't help them.
And sometimes just permits we like to do everything.
But what I've learned this last month is step back.
I've started to step back a bit.
And my husband started taking over little things
that I always did.
And I'm like quite like this.
So I think sometimes we can be our almost enemy.
And we like to just get so wrapped up that our partners
just take a step back.
So communication for me is key.
Have that chat.
Let's do a list.
What do we need?
I'm so lucky anyway, it's weekends,
because he can do, he's going to do all the wrapping next week.
He's going to do some more food shopping.
I'm like, I would be running around.
And I don't actually feel stressed,
but I have come down with something.
So, but I'm glad I'm doing it now,
because it's better than doing it at Christmas,
because next week it's just chuck a block Monday.
I don't know how I got through Monday in the salon.
And I had so many clients in Monday.
I was like, I can't cancel people
because I haven't really got space to cancel them
and then people's days off.
So, you were true pray.
You've got to just work sometimes.
Even I worked for myself.
I could book the day off.
There was nothing better I'd love to do.
He's just lounged my electric blanket and just chill.
But I don't let people down.
I'll try and do what I can.
I wouldn't be able to record a podcast,
but you know what, clients came in there like,
like, mass on and they would like,
oh, I'm so sorry, I feel a bit bummed up.
So I think everybody's feeling it at the minute.
Everybody's like, oh, what's going on?
But we've got lots and lots of things going on in the minute.
So we will actually get a minute to sit down and reset.
I can't wait to sit down with my diary.
Start planning next year.
Because sometimes we can't focus on what's coming ahead.
We think like we're. I'm having people mess in and say,
I want a launch podcast next year.
I want to write a book.
But they can't actually have it on the bandwidth to do that.
And that's fine because we can just start working
behind the scenes, start having. Just a minute in the bath and just take your phone
or take your diary and just say,
I'm just going in here.
I'm going to have a cup of tea in the bath
and just start brainstorming.
Just start having those downloads where like,
what do I need to do next year?
So you're not leaving it too late to do everything you need.
And if you've got to do less, then you've got to check less.
Do the best things to do, even if you're just doing it
in your phone, in your notes, because they're easy.
And I think once you bring them, and you get it down on paper,
I think that's when it could be more clear.
You get more clarity.
And sometimes you think, what can I outsource and offload?
What do I need?
And I don't know what this year, I'm not getting to,
I'm not stressing about it by anybody presence.
I'm not, you know, because I'm like,
oh, I've done this and I haven't done that, you know what?
I'm not doing it because I will just go into burnout
and we don't want that to do it.
And I don't feel like the festive season shouldn't be a burnout.
But we do put ourself in burnout, a lot of people
put them in financial burnout
and then just love to deal with it next year.
So do try and be organised throughout the year.
Alright, I start December.
I start Christmas in January this year.
Next year.
So I think it's like getting ahead.
Anything that's not working for you this year.
And you think, oh, I've done it again.
I've not done this.
I've not done that.
Actually, like we started decluttering in October,
looking at what food we need, what drinks we have drinks in the cupboard.
Let's not buy loads of snacks.
I'm not eating as much as like I'll probably was doing last year.
I'm not going to be in my diet.
I'm just trying to stay focused and be very mindful.
But are you in a car mode?
Or chaos mode?
Because he's the thing.
Every moment, you know, we all fall into those two camps of December.
Number one is the calm queens, the trees up, the list of dumb.
It's sipping up chocolate like they're in a Netflix film.
That's not, that can be sort of me in like 80% of me.
I've been watching some Christmas films.
Oh, you are probably majority of the chaos crew running around thinking
how is it today?
Whatever day you're listening, you could be listening two days before Christmas.
It was Halloween longer ago.
Either way, you're not doing it wrong, you're doing your best.
That deserves credit.
It's just reminding yourself.
It's not a competition.
It's not a race.
It's not a race.
You know, a race.
What everybody else is doing.
We just can't do it.
This year might have gone a year, but next year we can plan so much.
That's by listening to the podcast and just thinking.
And it's also having those micro moments, two minutes of deep breathing before you open your form.
In the morning, just think, right, what do I need to do?
And then look at the non-negotiable nourishment.
So make sure you're eating something and make sure that you're still planning your meals throughout the day.
Because you're just going to be snacking on chocolates.
You're going to feel absolutely rubbish.
You've also then to have sugar spikes and then afternoon slumps because you're going to be off track.
We always go a bit crazy.
It's like December tends to be for a lot of people.
Just whatever month like.
Let's not let it count.
But it's also quite a destructible month in terms of our health, our mindset, our mood.
Everything our energy, who we're letting in.
Who we're saying yes or no to.
We can kind of do a good 11 months of just like our rituals and our regimes.
But then December, I'm going to admit I've not done loads of exercise at all.
I've literally got a bunch of my husband as poor.
We've got some new cushions come the other day to go with the sofa.
I know the cushions, he piles them up on me treadmill.
And I was like, you don't want me to do exercise.
Yeah, that's just deterred me.
So I need to sort this room out because I need to make sure I am going on this treadmill.
Because I just need to keep toning and toning.
And just because it's December doesn't mean that I shouldn't stay on track.
I can still have treats, but I think I just need to stay on track.
And also we just need some of five minute rests.
Just reset in the car.
I do this.
I just go through the school one.
I have a minute to yourself.
Just even if you catch up on emails, close your eyes.
I've got some heat and eye packs that are amazing.
I just give myself a minute to just sit with that.
I think what, even if you're time-blocking time for you, it's just going to lower your blood pressure.
It's going to lower your cortisol levels, your stress levels, everything.
You name it.
It's going to, because we don't want to be in this flight mode.
We just need to be like, we need to be chill.
Because we're in fact, bang, bang, bang.
We're going to be like this all the time.
And make sure you're saying no without guilt.
It's not every invite I always say is meant for you.
Protect your peace.
That's so important.
And Christmas is not a solo sport.
So, like I said, delegate it to somebody.
Even if it's your parents, if you've got any or your neighbours do some support on school runs.
Can you do this?
Can you do that?
Because honestly, like tonight, my son has, it's a sensory light flip out.
So they all meet up every two weeks at time for them to get together.
And it's absolutely freezing.
The place doesn't put the heat on.
So, you know what?
I'm going to take a brew.
I'm going soon.
And I'm going to take a hot water bottle.
I'm going to put it in a bag.
Okay, because it's so cold.
And I think that's what it is.
I've been in and out of the salon.
I've been cold doing the school runs.
He there and everywhere.
And I think I picked up a bit of a cold.
But I'm hoping that it's going.
I feel a little bit hot.
But I'm taking paracetamol.
So lots of vitamin Cs.
I've probably not been taking my vitamins.
So we do slide a little bit.
But you know what?
We've got to reconnect with us.
So December has a way of pulling us in every direction.
But you can't pull magic into Christmas for everyone else.
If you're running on fumes.
Did you hear that little knock then?
That's my son.
I've like, he's just been having his tea.
And I'm like, you know.
I'm like, I'm just going to record my podcast.
And then this is my life.
This is what podcasting is all about.
You've got to do your podcast.
I was going to do it later.
Which I normally would do.
But I want to get back.
I think I'm going to maybe have a bath.
And I could be tea and I'm going to get in there and just chill.
I've said to my husband, I'm going to outtake him.
Because it tends to be a woman.
Nugging.
So we all just tend to just talk between us.
So he's like, you stitch me up with all these women.
I'm like, come with me.
But I said to him, just chill.
You know what?
He can just wash up and get everything done.
We've actually been on a day to day today.
We went shopping this morning.
And we've been to rhythm.
It's like on a beach.
And they were going for a Toby Carvery.
And we've had a little bit of a walk when it was really cold.
And then we got back.
And then I was like freezing.
So I was like, I wasn't feeling very well.
So I was like, well, let's get back.
And then I had some tablets.
And then you have like a third one.
So I'm like, you know what?
It goes really quick when you have some time.
Honestly, when we get time together.
This is the thing I've thought I'm booking this time out.
Because if we don't book the time out, then what happens is I'm not going to have a day off
because I'm working at the weekend.
So anyway, going back to re-connecting with you.
So here is your reminder.
Your energy matters.
A karma you creates, a karma home.
A supported you creates a softer Christmas.
So whether you're in a calm mood or full on chaos.
I want this episode to be your permission slip to slow down.
Breathe and actually enjoy the bits meant to be enjoyed.
Because you deserve to feel good this month.
Not just survive it.
Let's make space for a little festive magic.
A little self-care and a whole lot of compassion for yourself.
I want you to think of ways that you can implement self-care.
I get a lot of like you guys that have messaged me.
Voice not me.
Say now, listen to that episode.
You've made me do this.
You've made me do that.
And that's what I want this podcast to do.
I want it to instill that little bit of like, yeah, you know what?
I'm going to listen to Lindsay.
And they're just gentle reminders.
And they've also reminders for myself as well that you can't do everything.
And you know what?
I think you get to an age where you've got to put your hands up.
I mean, you know what?
I need a little bit of help.
I need to be more organised.
I don't need the stress.
I just want you to take a minute for yourself.
Because what happens is I do the unsung it.
I might honestly, I was going to every corner of my brain.
I felt down.
I didn't know what was wrong with me.
And this is not me.
I think it was a bit of this.
And it was a bit of that.
I was missing my nan.
And it was my son's birthday.
And I was thinking, it's growing up.
And I said, isn't it when your children go up and they don't look like babies anymore?
And you get that empty arms syndrome.
Even though I don't particularly have it fully yet because of his needs.
He's taller than me now.
So you start to think life's changing.
It's adjusting.
And that's a big milestone for you.
You know, as parents, you like, it hits you when you go.
So I think I was feeling loads of different emotions.
And people were picking it up actually.
I was trying to masquerate.
Because I'm a high vibe person.
But you know what?
I'm like, high vibe all the time.
Well, I talked about it.
I got through it.
A journal date.
I've popped some new crystals in my bra.
I'm like, you know what?
Let's get back on my manifesting train this week.
Just because it's Christmas doesn't mean I can't manifest great things.
And I'm thinking, you know what?
I'm grateful for the loads of things I'm grateful for.
I'm pretty organised.
I don't need to stress.
And some of my friends have got so much going on at the minute.
And I'm like, why are you getting involved in that?
Like, you make me feel so tired.
Like, stop doing this, stop doing that.
And I always tell my friend stuff.
Because I think it's good that we give each other advice as well.
Because it's good to remind ourselves, isn't it?
That we need to slow down.
And we need to think about all this.
So if it's going to be, I went for a costa.
And I was like, it was an overpriced costa hot chocolate.
So I sat in the car with my husband.
And I was like, he doesn't drink hot drinks.
He drove.
And I'm like, I'm really sorry.
I can't drive.
He's like, no, don't be silly.
And there's where he did things.
I'm like, he did everything.
I'm like, my hot water bottle.
And I'm like, you know what?
I'm just, he's like, it's just good that we're getting out.
Even though you're not well.
I'm like, yeah, but fresher does do you good?
So I think, you know what?
Getting out sometimes is good.
It's clean my mind.
We've had a good chat, baby husband.
We've reconnected today.
We're going to snuggle up tonight.
We're going to watch some Christmas films.
And he gets excited for Christmas as me.
So sometimes it doesn't feel as Christmas.
Even though I started Christmas early, I feel like it's,
I feel like we used to be a little bit more excited.
So I think this is just age.
I think it's an age thing.
I think we have more responsibilities.
But it's our children that we get really excited about.
That's the most important thing, isn't it?
It's like making them happy.
And just reconnecting with friends and family.
But not getting over to involve with everything.
Because I don't think we've got the time.
We've not got the bandwidth.
So yeah, I think gratitude is what I'm going to leave you with today.
Start making sure you're doing your 10 gratitude.
Add a, read it down and be very grateful.
And just watch that love rolling.
And the self-cur.
Just keep up with the self-cur.
Because it's really important.
So anyway, I will leave it there.
