Hey, we've got some game time tips to share.
When you're hosting during football season, you've got to be ready for every kind of craving.
Somebody wants fresh pizza, somebody wants crispy wings, somebody's asking if there's sliders.
That's why you need more than one call in the playbook.
Frigidaire offers a range with over 15 cooking modes so you can tackle hosting with confidence.
There's stone-baked pizza for restaurant-quality pizza in as little as two minutes,
air-fried mode for crispy favorites, and air-sous-vide for juicy tender sliders.
Plus, there's slow cook, no preheat, and more.
That's the game time MVP combo.
Stone-baked pizza and air-fry, both built right into your oven.
So whether you're getting ready for kickoff or feeding a full house, Frigidaire has every craving covered.
Available at the Home Depot. How doers get more done.
Only when using stone-baked pizza mode, cook time requires preheat and reheat and may vary based on ingredients.
Fantasy, you're in the hole, 6-0-1-0. Fantasy, focus. Fantasy, fantasy, focus.
Happy Friday and welcome to Fantasy Focus Football.
I feel weird right now because I'm Field Yates and not Daniel Dottie.
He's Mike Clay and we are awaiting Daniel's arrival.
A little bit of a travel situation has impacted his commute to work here, Mike.
So you and I are going to be holding on for a little while.
So you and I are going to be holding down the fort.
Can you really tolerate me all by myself for an hour straight?
I'm going to try. We're also sitting closer to each other.
Usually I feel like I'm far away when I'm in that seat, but right here we're just like right here.
I can reach you.
Yeah, stay away, will you?
The last thing is that at least for that shot that opened up the show,
for those that are watching right now, Mike and I are staring into cameras
despite the fact that if I put my left hand out, you can see him.
So I don't quite know what to do with my hands.
I don't know which way to work.
I'm just going to let the camera find me and we're going to roll here.
We have a huge. Huge show today, Mike.
One of the biggest words in fantasy football, especially during the preseason, is bust, right?
We are covering bust today in fantasy football.
This is a tough exercise.
Say again?
Yes, yes it is.
And we talked yesterday about our guardrails, which were top 10 quarterbacks.
You said, hey, like top 10 quarterbacks or good judgment.
Top 20 running backs slash good judgment.
I stuck in your boundary.
I stuck in your guardrails.
There we have it.
And then also top. Top 10 tight ends.
So we'll get into that.
A reminder that if you are looking for something to do while you are in the chat,
Eric Moody is there.
The great Eric Moody.
He is answering all of your questions and engaging with you about Mike's costume for the show yesterday.
That really got the people going.
It did.
People really enjoyed that.
And I'm glad because that was my. We actually had a. It was at a Christmas party last year, a holiday party at my house.
Yes.
And it was a pajama party.
So everyone wore their PJs and that was mine.
So I've now worn that two times.
It was great.
I'm getting a good run out of it.
Twice a year.
It was hilarious.
It was great.
One of my memories from that holiday party was there were a lot of pregnant moms there at that time.
Remember that?
Yeah.
It was just like a weird confluence where like a lot of us who were invited to this party all had expected wives.
And now all those babies are born.
Yeah, I made like 100 margaritas and they just sat there.
I had 84 of them.
I digress.
That's how I came up with my bust picks for today.
But again, Daniel Dopp coming at some point, we hope, during the show.
What we're going to do is Mike and I are going to go through our bust picks.
And if Daniel. If Daniel shows up, we will let him empty out the clip.
If he does not show up because of travel stuff, you and I will go through his picks and decide whether they were good or bad selections.
I do like that they just cut to the empty chair.
Yes.
It's like he's here.
He's here.
There he is.
There he is.
There's Daniel Dopp.
In spirit, Daniel Dopp is here.
By the way, this, you know, this is a tough exercise.
It's tough to go because oftentimes we think, and even me, I would even put me in this category despite it's going to sound like it's not true, but like. Generally, we're positive about players, right?
Especially guys ranked this high.
You know, these aren't the guys we'd like.
These are the guys we'd want to draft.
So when you go, you talk so positively about the same guys over and over, it's tough to be like, okay, I have to like adjust my notes and my thought to like, what's the downside here?
And that's, I think I do that a lot with a lot of players.
It's important not just to see the ceiling, but see what could go wrong, you know, because stuff goes wrong.
And you're like, how on earth did Gabe Davis fail in Buffalo?
Right.
Everything seemed positive.
How did Brian Thomas go from wide receiver?
Four is a rookie with a backup quarterback for a chunk of the season and drop off that much in year two.
It doesn't make sense.
And the offense was successful.
Like it's a, it's a really hard thing to do, but it's important to look at.
So I actually going through this, I was picking one, one specifically.
I'll tell you who it is when we get to that player.
But I was like, actually, the more I dig into this, this is more of a red flag than I thought on this guy.
So it is a, it is a healthy exercise.
I think even though it's a negative exercise, we'll find out my picks in just a moment, but just one way in which I like.
Landed on my selections.
And at least two of the four cases was I looked at players in the range that we're talking about.
And I found out if I was the lowest ranker or tied for the lowest ranker on any of the players within the top 10 quarterbacks, top 20 running backs, wide receivers, or top 10 tight ends.
And that allowed me to make my pick.
I'm going to tell you right now, Mike, it was hard to find a bust for tight ends because there's only so many good ones that it's hard to find a bust for tight ends.
That's the one though that I'm referring to.
That was really interesting.
All right.
By the way, I did not do it exactly that way.
I looked at like, I thought more in a range of outcomes, like this guy, like a lot of the guys, again, especially like QB ones, for example, the floor is so high or even tight end ones.
Yeah.
The floor is so high, but what about a guy that maybe isn't as cemented yet and has a wider range of outcomes?
And you could say, okay, yeah, if that player busts, maybe we should have saw that coming.
So slightly different angle, but the bottom line is I think we have some good names.
All right, let's go ahead and get to it, Mike.
We're gonna start with our quarterback busts and I'll take the floor here.
Go for it.
First, Mike, see what you think.
My quarterback bust, and you said this stat at one point this preseason, and I really thought you had an incredibly rare error where I was like, there's no way Mike said that and meant that.
At one point, you told me that Caleb Williams was quarterback five in total points last season, and I was like, there's no way Caleb Williams was quarterback five in total points last season.
He was, in fact, quarterback five in total points last season was Caleb Williams.
He also was quarterback seven in points per game last season.
So Patrick Mahomes and Brock.
Purdy, because they missed time, finished with higher points per game than Caleb Williams.
But, of course, he played wire to wire all 17 games.
The issue is not that I don't think Caleb Williams is talented.
I think he's very talented.
I've talked often about how in the construct of the other pass catchers in this offense, like he's going to be an improved passer this year.
He was 32nd in completion percentage last year.
Do the math.
That's not very good.
That's near the very bottom of the league amongst qualified quarterbacks.
He's a really, really good runner as well.
He's got some of the best sack avoidance in the NFL.
He's made a number of ridiculous throws that have already become like the stuff of YouTube legend.
The throw against the Rams.
There's all could be the jump man throw against the Packers.
Like he's a dynamic player with his hands.
It just comes down to can Caleb Williams do it more consistently?
Right.
And I think that sometimes year and finishes can be a little bit too misleading.
Right.
Because you can have a handful of spike weeks that inflate your season long.
Jared Goff.
Exactly.
Correct.
He's a good example of it.
Seriously.
That kind of cloud the reality of what the player is.
Week in and week out.
Our friend,
Tristan Cockcroft writes about consistency of players.
He does consistency ratings.
And it's actually a great article that I would find.
Just search Chris Tristan Cockcroft consistency ratings.
It'll pop up from last year.
And he overviews the system that he has developed.
And he highlights the players that were most consistent at each position.
He also highlights a couple of different categories.
One of those categories is what he calls a stiff week.
It's a week in which a player is started and he performs so poorly relative to the rest of the
position that you would have been better off starting a player off of the waiver wire.
Right.
Caleb Williams last year in 17 games had four stiff weeks.
And that's the thing about Caleb Williams.
The good version of Caleb, really good.
The bad version of Caleb, not so good.
Just some context on how other, you know, Drake may had one stiff week all of last year.
Matthew Stafford, Daniel Jones.
I know he was injured, but Daniel Jones, Brock Purdy, just two all of last year.
So there were players that in the case of Jones and Purdy may not have had as many points,
as Caleb Williams last year, but just were more consistent week in, week out.
I also know that last year, the bear, the bear schedule was more favorable than it is this year.
Maybe it's a bit overblown of how difficult it's going to be in this upcoming season,
but it's not going to be as easy as I thought it was at times last year.
Caleb tended to feast on the week and had a met his match against the more formidable opponents.
So for those reasons, I'm just a little less optimistic on Caleb this season.
Yeah.
Two thoughts.
First is you're right about the passing efficiency.
It has to be better.
He completed 58% of his.
He passes last year to your point, one of the worst in the NFL.
That's going to have to be better.
And you could say, well, Ben Johnson's there.
It's going to be better.
Well, he was there last year and it wasn't exceptional.
So we need to see that this year.
And it's also like offense is a little top heavy, you know, a doomsday burden Loveland.
Yet as in terms of pass catchers, like if one misses a game, then you're like, okay,
they're rolling out like a rookie and Kalief Raymond and, you know, potentially Cole Kamedu is fine.
But, you know, obviously he's vaulting to more of a blocker as well.
So that's something to think about with Williams.
The other thing is, and my problem with him, he didn't, I didn't choose him as my, as my bust,
but he's a guy that I haven't drafted.
And the reason is we talk about this tier, right?
So let's say after like Joe Burrows, like quarterback six, like Dart, Lawrence, Prescott,
Knicks, Purdy, Stafford, Caleb, Herbert, Mahomes.
I have them all in a tier.
Dart, Dart actually I have with Burrow, but everyone else is in a tier.
The most expensive quarterback in that group is Caleb Williams.
And that's my problem.
I can get Dart two, three rounds later than Caleb Williams.
And I like him more so.
I just, and even if you don't like Dart, all of those other guys I listed,
he's going ahead of all of them.
So why would I pounce on him?
instead of just waiting upwards of four rounds and get a Bo Nix,
who's like, I projected higher than him.
That's the problem I've had with him during draft season.
Money where my mouth is, I have Caleb Williams as my 15th-ranked quarterback.
Four have him in the top 10, and I believe two people have him as high
as quarterback six overall.
And our guy Matt Bowen is one of them.
Matt Bowen knows serious ball.
He's also based in Chicago.
He knows this Bears team backwards and forwards.
That was one of the reasons why I reconsidered Caleb.
Moving on up in my rankings, but just love the quarterback depth
overall this year.
Who is your bust?
He certainly has a high ceiling.
We know that.
Maybe he does make a leap forward, and Ben Johnson's right,
and they score a ton of points, and he gets up there.
But there's a lot of quarterbacks that fit that bill.
I mean, it's so deep right now in that tier.
And also, I think we're going to like – I don't want to just deliver
20 qualifiers about how our picks may not be perfect,
but they may be right enough.
The only thing I will say is that a bust is not defined as like,
I don't expect Caleb Williams to be quarterback 25 this year.
Oh, no, no, no.
It's take a look at the players that are being drafted right around Caleb
or perhaps even well behind Caleb, as you just discussed, like Bo Nix.
And is Caleb's juice worth the squeeze paying the full freight for that player?
Who do you got, Mike?
Mine is a little bit higher in our rankings.
Actually, quite a bit higher in our rankings.
And again, I looked at the top 10 quarterbacks, and I said,
who is the guy here that maybe we're overvaluing a little bit
or at least has a chance to be a bust?
And we would say we should have saw that coming.
And for me, it's Shaden Daniels.
So he is QB2 on my board, but there's reasons to think maybe there's a chance
the floor is low after what we saw last year.
So again, outstanding in his rookie season, 2024, one rookie of the year,
25 passing touchdowns, six rushing touchdowns,
almost 900 rushing yards that year.
But obviously, he was actually beat up quite a bit that season.
He missed the bulk of that one game.
I think it was the Eagles on Thursday night or something like that.
I think he missed the Eagles game.
He got hurt against the Panthers.
It was the Panthers.
Okay.
Yeah.
Last year, obviously, appeared in only seven games with the injury.
But the other part of it last year is that when he was healthy,
he wasn't quite as good in fantasy.
20.9 fantasy points per game in 2024, 16.3 points per game last season.
He was pacing for 675 rushing yards.
That's obviously quite a bit down from 891 in his rookie season.
And, you know, in terms of coaching and support,
we've been kind of pointing that as potentially a positive,
but it's not always a positive.
Yeah.
He does have a new play caller.
That could change things from where he's been.
Remember, there's a really fast-paced offense under Cliff Kingsbury.
Maybe the plays are down this year.
And, frankly, the supporting cast could be good, but it might be fine.
Terry McLaurin, Stefan Diggs has, you know,
kind of evolved his role a little bit last year in New England.
And Chico Conquo has been fine so far,
but we haven't seen him really break out into a star yet.
So, not to mention the injury.
A left tackle with Army Tunsil is going to miss a good chunk of the season.
So, again, I remain optimistic about Jaden Daniels,
but I could see a path to him.
Kind of struggling this year.
And also, there's been reports that they have struggled.
The offense has been kind of getting roughed up,
the offensive line specifically, who I've ranked very low,
which is another reason why he is on my list.
So, again, wide range of outcomes, I would say, for Jaden Daniels.
A very high ceiling, but potentially a disaster.
I have noticed that Commanders fans, and I understand this, by the way,
they finally get a quarterback who gives them real hope and promise
after what feels like decades worth of mediocrity at best in a lot of cases
until Alex Smith arrives.
He arrived there and played well before he got hurt.
It just feels like this is a franchise that's been waiting for somebody
like Jaden Daniels.
And understandably, Commanders fans don't want to hear that Jaden Daniels
is not anything but the truth.
I think that after two seasons, I lean much more heavily towards
he is the truth.
But last year, it did bring about some questions,
and I was not expecting to ask, given how great that first season was.
Yeah, no doubt about it.
Again, I remain very optimistic about him, which is painful as an Eagles fan.
I don't like how optimistic I am about the Giants,
the Cowboys, and now Jaden Daniels.
That's kind of scary, and you wonder if the Eagles are going to go over
the other side very soon, and these other teams are going to be competitive.
But anyway, we'll see what happens.
So we're going to save Daniels' pick, but I will tell you that the three names
that I considered for my quarterback bust, for my pick, obviously,
Caleb Williams, Mike's and Jaden Daniels, and Daniels, who we will not reveal.
Yeah, my first choice was who he has, but yeah.
Let's go to running back busts here, Mike, and maybe, just maybe,
we're fortunate.
Jaden Daniels is not here in this moment because my pick for running back bust
is Amarion Hampton.
I thought about it.
My current RB13, tied with you for the lowest amongst ESPN rankers,
so no surprise that you are also thinking about it.
Daniel, obviously, is the highest of any ranker at ESPN.
He's got him fifth in his running back rankings.
Let me give you a couple of negative stats from last year,
one specifically that is a little bit, it's a yellow flag at least for me,
but it could be explained based off the offensive line.
But there were 49 running backs that had 100 or more carries last season.
Hampton ranked 46th in percentage of carries that gained yards,
like just a decent amount of meat left on the bone.
Now, you could justifiably tell me that was an offensive line issue
for the Chargers, and I could hear you out on that,
and it was also a different scheme.
I am acknowledging that.
Again, we're trying to find small warts on players that we still have ranked
as a team.
We're trying to find small warts on players that we still have ranked as a team.
Yeah, for sure.
ceiling he may not be rb 13 he may be rb 17 in that instance uh who's your running back pick
all right my running back pick is and i'll i'll totally own this this is a little bit of a layup
here i'm taking josh jacobs there's plenty of reasons for concern here but the fact is um we
also had some news yesterday regarding him to uh charge with two misdemeanors we'll see where that
leads of course but um i think there's a lot of reasons to think that at his current adp which
is the third round it's just like don't do it right now like just press pause on josh jacobs
we also saw after a really start a strong start to the season he missed a little bit time with
the injury and then his production and usage really plummeted down the stretch last season
11.3 fantasy points per game overall he was still effective he scored a ton of touchdowns
since he's been with the packers but uh he had that groin injury we have a potential suspension
coming at some point we don't know for sure but that could come at some point this season and
keep this in mind 28 years old and i've you know picked guys apart for this plenty over the last
five seasons
there's only 12 instances of a running back age 28 or older finishing top 15 at running back and
fantasy points and some of those are the same guys like derrick henry said a few times that's
a 16 percent hit rate i've said the guys like henry and cmc tend to be unicorns i don't know
if josh jacobs fits that bill i don't think it fits more in like the dalvin cook joe mix in that
sort of aaron jones where i think around this time it's gonna it's gonna start to fall off a little
bit so i think a healthy non-suspended jacobs and a really good offense has a shot for one more really
good fantasy year where he could be a borderline rb1 but with all of the other issues here where
he's going in drafts uh very very high chance of busting this year let's own or try to do our best
to sort of talk through this legal situation here mike i think these are and they're not the most
important thing i think these are the hardest bits of ranking analysis to do when there's something
like a legal situation hanging over a player what do you really say right like we don't know what
josh jacobs is going to face significant punishment we don't know whether josh jacobs is gonna face no
punishment it's not nearly as important as real life like fantasy football is not nearly as
important for it as of right now like last night i did a draft and i was not going to draft josh
jacobs probably at all like i figured i just figured somebody else would do it before i did
but in my first four or five picks like i was not considering josh jacobs we don't really have a
and his fantasy value is not nearly as important as the real life ramifications exactly right yeah
but i understand if people at this moment in time until there's clarity are saying you know what
i'm just gonna let somebody else do it because i'm concerned about what's going to happen next
in that legal yeah no doubt we're we're just doing our job here the fact is we're we're out on him for
now and obviously we're prioritizing marshawn lloyd who looks the part now looks like he's
in the right direction who's a late get summer going with a firework freeze five hour energy shot

now have daniel top here there he is that's right my friends your favorite double d is here we can
start the bus show now and i'm excited to be able to be here with you guys i what's going on feel
what's going on i don't understand sorry i um inappropriate i have no words right now uh welcome
we have covered our running backs and our quarterback so far for bus i heard that yes
how about we go back to qb and running back and you just take them over from there real quick i
will just say this and mike and i talked about this for a little bit jalen hurts is going to be
my potential bust here if you look at what jalen hurts yes oh he is my bust but like if i'm picking
someone like we had talked about it's really tough because i listened to the top of the show while i
was sitting in traffic oh is that right i
yes yes i did your energy is great right now yeah how was it how was it top of the show was good
it was good yeah is that what's that like letter grade like a b b to b plus i didn't get many of
those back in the day so i'll take yeah that's better than what i usually get when i do mike's
mocks so like b to b plus is pretty good for what we usually get a c so it sounds like it's better
okay okay all right uh jalen hurts last couple of years we've just seen the efficiency fall off
start to fall off a little bit four years ago he averaged 25 points per game uh two and three
years ago he averaged 21 and a half points per game last year that fell to 18.7 the rushing
efficiency has fallen off a little bit the efficiency of the tush push shout out to my
girl liz loza who gave me this under 63 efficiency on the tush push last season i think that when
we're looking at this now there's no aj brown there's just a lot of easy narratives to be able
to line up to if there was one quarterback that we all still think is that cheat code because of
the running inside of the top five at qb jalen hurts just feels like the one that is the obvious bust where
things could maybe not go right and and he could finish outside of the potentially top 10 i uh i
agree i thought about going this direction as well because it wasn't just the tush push it was uh
overall rushing with everything substantially last year i don't know if that's going to change
uh they do have a new play caller and sean manning which if you're an eagles fan and you watch them
closely i mean it's amazing that they were as competitive as they were last year because that
offense was extremely bad they were i think during the top of the league and three and outs like
it was really really poor last year so the
hope is that sean manion he's going to change things more probably more under center more play
action things like that um hopefully that'll improve the efficiency but your point the
supporting cast not quite as good either they're going to spread it around a little more and aj
brown we know is a real difference maker so he's fascinating i still think he does enough with his
legs and the offense will be good enough that he'll hang as a mid-range qb1 but i don't think
the ceiling's what it used to be and i think that if he doesn't run if he just is committed to not
running that much he might fall and be a fringe qb1 not a
mid-range and that's going to that means his adp is a little too high they're also moving away from
the jail and hurt centric offense like this is now a timing and rhythm passing offense at least
according to the eagles themselves that's good for him like he yeah we'll see like if we can do that
i said that's good i was no that's you said that's new for him right yeah yeah it's a change like i
don't know that's a new variable yeah that is i would say that jalen hurts has not throughout his
career been regarded as the like you know a top five timing and rhythm passing quarterback
agreed obviously but you guys never throw him for four thousand yards into
season i think his career high and touchdown passes is 26 so if they're taking away some of
the run and focusing on the pass we'll see whether he can level up there daniel who is your running
back pick and then after this we're gonna go to the mailbag and i'll let you take over hosting
love it love it i actually shut the show off when you started talking about amari and hampton as a
bus field i gotta be honest i hurt my heart a little bit but i understand why i said you weren't
i know i know earmuffs from that one okay my boss is quinn sean judkins okay because this is another
it's just a narrative situation for me right you look at what is one of
does he play on the worst offense out of all the top 20 running backs in the nfl question yes is
dylan gabriel under center in this scenario or not great question if we knew it might be easier
to prognosticate guys i don't know if that matters yeah i don't think i'm being funny
who knows he was ridiculous he was like so classic dude preseason football right so this
is the thing with this is the thing with quinn sean judkins and this browns offense i am just
nervous wow he could easily beat the guy i actually if i had to pick a brown
i would probably rather have quinn sean judkins over anyone else i'm even a little worried about
harold fanon just with how bad that passing game has looked but it was bad last year and he was
good it was bad last year run that thing it was bad last year and then they added a handful of
first they did that's fair he also had about 25 of his total targets in two games so with quinn
sean judkins it's just if this offense isn't going to be good touchdown equity is probably going to
be low he is a very good pass catcher i think when he is asked to catch the ball but dylan samson is
there too he's a really nice change of pace he's a really nice change of pace he's a really nice
change of pace guy out of the backfield oh mike you gave me a little bit of head nod for that one
you're not sure about dylan samson uh not good rushing efficiency i think it was i didn't say
anything about rushing efficiency i said he's a pass well he's not a threat though i mean i
judkins was over 70 of their carries last year uh i i i hear what you're saying like there's
i don't want to poke i'm just saying poke yet go ahead as a as a third down roll there is a chance
that he's not just going to be on the field all the time dylan samson will have a role as a pass
catching running back in this backfield from time to time as a part of everything and just with how
offense can be i think that he is the worst running that a running back on the worst team
within all of the top 20 running backs it just gives me the least excitement out of anybody to
draft there's no ceiling here the ceiling is they're down by 100 points every game which they
might be it might be yeah and they just have to have dump off city because he's not going to get
huge rushing efficiency or rushing touchdowns if they're trailing every single game i could see him
being off the field if they're trailing every game like i do i do think they will legitimately
play a lot of dylan samson if they're down by 10 or more points yeah
Yeah, very possible.
I did face the heaviest box.
the heaviest boxes in the NFL among qualified running backs last season which may not change
that's not going to change yeah exactly but here's my pushback on this one okay if we're talking
about all of these running backs in like the RB1 and RB2 territory let's just say the top 20 which
has generally been our kind of our cutoff before you get to like Bucky Irving and DeAndre Swift
and guys like that he's the cheapest he's going in the fourth fifth round of 12 team leagues like
so that to me feels like a value for a guy that yeah might have there's a reason he's not going
in the second or third round you know then and I think you just kind of laid out those issues if
he was going that high I'd be like yeah that's a problem I would not be touching him in that area
but I think where he's going a guy that can get he's a he's a candidate to lead the NFL in carries
I mean it's gonna they're gonna have to be somewhat competitive but he's probably gonna
they're gonna try to get him 20-25 carries every single game and last year he averaged two and a
half targets per game that could go up a little bit in year two remember he is very young he's
one of the youngest running backs in the NFL so he's a capable I love him as a part of his game
yeah don't miss that yeah like he as a prospect he
was really good I mean he has the chance to be one of the feature run one of the best runners
in the NFL I mean let's say five years from now we look back at the prior five years you might say
Judkins is third in the NFL in carries over the last five years like he he should be on that list
so Cleveland gets somehow better than maybe yeah but I mean even last year he had a ton ton of
carries last year so I'm still optimistic about him and where he's going especially if you're
looking for a little like a good solid RB2 yeah in the fifth round fourth round I'm happy to do it
nothing like sticking to the structure of the rules and still getting told your pick was wrong
because it's too low within the structure of the rules oh you did a great job Daniel well done
thank you field yates all right let's go to the questions by the way it feels like it's so weird
sitting in this chair yeah this is like it feels like trying to write left-handed right now it's
awkward but uh go ahead Daniel all right let's take uh some questions from our YouTube chat my
friends shout out to our buddy Eric Moody by the way Scott McClory he was active in there earlier
while I was watching question for the panelists are you a true bust if you are healthy and just
plain suck or do injuries affect your true bust status great question here from you guys yeah to
me it's definitely it's like just go back in time to last year right let's use two former LSU wide
receivers Justin Jefferson was a gigantic bust last year because he played all season and not
because of himself his output sucked Malik neighbors got hurt in the fourth week now he
wasn't he didn't he did not come out of the gates as strong as we had hoped for he did have
I think one gigantic game in there but it wasn't three straight top five weeks and then he got
hurt but he was not a bust in my eyes because like he tore his ACL like that's just bad luck
right that's bad fortune yeah everything's kind of different like Brian Thomas was a straight-up
bust Justin Jefferson was a bust but the qualifier is it wasn't his fault uh Malik
neighbors is a bust for a different and you know he got hurt so I don't know it's I don't consider
that a bust the only guys I agree I agree if I'm gonna make a bust list like I we do that we do
like awards like I didn't consider Malik neighbors like he wasn't on my list last year but Justin
Jefferson yeah I think so even though it wasn't his fault I would like to say from an emotional
standpoint I would like to say from an emotional standpoint I would like to say from an emotional
standpoint I would still consider them a bust but they're in a different category that I don't hold
against them in the same way the only time I would put an injury guy still busted that's fair yes
that's totally fair I would say this to defend Daniel a little bit here all right I like this
if Christian McCaffrey gets hurt I was just gonna use that example oh it's gonna feel like a real
bust yeah right because there's been enough recent injury history that there are people like Daniel
that are like I'm not gonna do it right and then sometimes you do it uh I think a good quality
that's where I land up like generally speaking nine times out of ten if a guy's hurt doesn't
apply I think maybe a good way to look at it is like if you could have predicted it like you can't
like okay neighbors towards ACL like no one was gonna sit here I should be like I I think he's a
bust because he's gonna tear his ACL like you couldn't do that but Justin Jefferson you could
have been like McCarthy just doesn't have this is gonna be a disaster and like you sort of sort of
could have seen that coming in a way like if you've I'm sure people some people were lower
on him for that reason so maybe that's maybe that's the way to do it yeah that's fair um
I would say like I think he's asked for our personal parameters of us unless it's a player
that comes into the season and the other has an injury history or is dealing with an injury
during training camp yeah I'm I am not considering that a bust if he's like if Jameer Gibbs that has
something happened sorry Daniel God willing that does not happen that's right um if something does
happen I will not I would feel like that's just a really crappy string of bad luck yeah all right
next question from our YouTube chat this one comes from Adam Hinton Adam wants to know really worried
Jonathan Taylor is going to be a big bust this year are you any concerned about this Colts offense
with him I would love the why yeah exactly right this is a kind of what I was just saying like
if he is now what's the case there because if you have a case let's say we were looking back
in December and he was a bust to be like why did we miss that right so I thought that would be a
unless he again unless he has a serious injury so the case I don't I don't have a good case for
this one the case would just be that he's got two seasons of 370 ish touches and so a third consecutive
season does that make your body and we're not projecting injuries but does that make your body
more susceptible to the wear and tear of a third season like that's the hard part that's like does
it make you a bust or does it make you like someone that I I think about it I don't but I'm not sure
that it weighs that heavily I'm trying to imagine what the case for this user was and maybe he's
responded in the chat and we can get some feedback from the production staff is he potentially can
remember you've highlighted the stat it was what 12.2 fantasy points per game with Daniel Jones
off the field yeah maybe it's basically you know concerned
about his health and Daniel Jones effectiveness sure but he's probably the second best pure
runner in the NFL right behind Derrick Henry he's a better pass catcher at least a more prolific
pass catcher than Derrick Henry he's gonna be amongst the league leaders and goal to go
opportunities and that might actually go up this year because the Colts might protect Daniel Jones
a little bit so I I think safe is a really dangerous word I tend to think of JT as one
of the more safe second half of the first round picks yeah led the NFL and carries and touchdowns
second and carries inside the five and career highs across the board in all the past uh all the
receiving categories which were all top 10 at that position and to answer your question we went from
24.8 points per game with Daniel Jones all the way down to 12.9 final month and a half of the
season so and by the way he's 27 he still has a couple good years left as far as floor plays go
there's again it's hard to call anyone that but he fits that bill where do you go probably the
safest player in the first round right I'm on raw like just because you're also getting a half round
not that Jamar Chase or Puka are like if they're healthy or big threats to not be great same with
Bijan and Jameer but like the stakes are a little bit different like if you get Amon Ron eight you're
like all right yeah that's about where he deserves to go I really I love the stat that I use for the
fantasy marathon if I'm allowed to use it one more time guys ask Mike he's the stat guy there is only
one wide receiver in the NFL that has three consecutive seasons with 115 receptions that's
Amon Ron there's also only one wide receiver with three consecutive seasons with 1250 receiving yards
that's Amon Ron there's also only one wide receiver with three consecutive ten touchdown seasons I have
one too and that's Amon Ron St. Brown I play this game too please yes one receiver in league history
with 90 plus catches each of their first five NFL season I got it Mason Tipton Amon Ron St. Brown
that's Amon Ron St. Brown yeah unbelievable shall we go to the wide receivers yeah let's talk about
some wide receiver busts let's do it yeah start with you Field Jates uh with my running back pick
I took Daniel to task so with my wide receiver pick I'm gonna take Mike to task here
I appreciate you doing this I'm not dramatically lower on this player compared to my ESPN colleagues
I have him as my wide receiver 14 ESPN has him in consensus rankings as wide receiver 13
but if I told you there was a player that we're currently ranking as wide receiver 13
that in his career has four career games with 25 or more fantasy points and 23 games under 10 fantasy
points you'd say to yourself a little dicey right quarterback play correct that's exactly what you'd
be saying bad quarterback play
does it get better this year I'm not so sure it does it does difference of opinion here he has
nine weeks as a top 15 finisher in his career he has 17 weeks being outside the top 30 entirely
right so feels like Garrett Wilson who is of course my pick if you couldn't already figure
that out um is just a little too Jekyll and Hyde for me relative to some of the other wide receivers
that are going to be taken around there what are you just laughing that you're one spot lower I
said that though I think I said that right I know I know I know but it just made me laugh
there are others that fit this category we talked about Zay Flowers as a potential breakout
candidate just a couple of years ago there might be a cross-section of the crowd that's saying hey
like how do you not feel that way about Zay Flowers I hear you I just have much more confidence in
Lamar Jackson in this new Baltimore offense than I do Gino Smith and the Jets offense do you remember
the last player last wide receiver to average at least 15 points per game with Gino Smith as his QB
wait the last receiver too yeah I mean he's a great receiver he's a great receiver he's a great
he had three top 16 receivers in Seattle Lockett well the question was 15 points per game 15 points
per game is it one of those three JSN it is DK Metcalf Metcalf okay do you know what it was though
no 2021 it's been a while five years ago five years ago now do they have a good receiving trio
and they spread it around you can make that case but bottom line is I just I have a lot less
confidence in Gino Smith and I know Mike does and I have a lot less confidence in his overall Jets
so I'm just concerned about this being one where he wins you two weeks this year and you feel like
he loses you five weeks this I think he's the clear alpha whereas no one really emerges that
when he was in Seattle I know as as good as DK Metcalf was Tyler Lockett was a huge part of that
and that year you're talking about yeah maybe Metcalf didn't have or maybe I guess Metcalf did
have 15 points but Tyler Lockett was also top 16 in fantasy points that season the next year
Metcalf was hurt and missed some games of Lockett at a big season the year after that JSN was top 10
in fantasy points I mean Seattle was top 10
in passing yards and wide receiver fantasy points during that three.
years. I'm less confident.
I don't know. Maybe I don't know. Just last year, maybe
I just watched too much football last year.
I watched the Raiders. That's what happened. That's your problem.
Isn't that how Mike wins arguments?
He just throws numbers at you like fast and
furious. He was top 10 three years ago.
Two years ago, Tyler Lockett was top 15. Last year,
it's like a super soaker. He was just
pounding you. You're like, you know what? Just give me the towel.
I'm relenting. I'm relenting, Michael.
You're lying. You walked in here, sat down, started
ripping off Jalen Hurts.
It's like when you're playing paintball
and it's like someone hits you. Oh my gosh. And that hurts.
Yes. Just stop. I'm out.
Hands in the air, I'm done. Mike just
paintballed me. No. We need to put that on the
punish. You shouldn't even brought it up on the show, Field.
Bad idea right there. Yeah, why'd you do that? For those reasons,
I'm out.
Garrett Wilson, bust potential. Mike doesn't
feel that way. Daniel, do you
agree or disagree or are you kind of neutral on this one?
I completely
understand the bust potential of Garrett
Wilson. Did you consider him at all? So do I. I'm just
making the positive. Yeah. Did I consider
him? I did not because I
already knew who my bust wide receiver was. I've kind of
been
talking about it for a while. Okay, let's hear your bust wide receiver.
My bust wide receiver is Nico Collins
with where he is at. Nico Collins, as I have
said to you guys before, in his
five seasons, Nico Collins, three
years, has spent time on the injured reserve
list. Missed at least four games because of that.
We're in a situation where he continually
misses time, has never played a full season.
Not one time has he played a full
healthy season. He's being drafted at the back end
of your wide receiver one conversation. I am still
unbelievably worried
about this offensive line and
CJ Stroud's ability to be able to have time
in the pocket to find his guy, Nico
Collins, deep. Nico doesn't live in the slot.
He's not having short area targets. He's
not a short area king. He's a guy that
runs down the field, catches the long ball, and that's what
he does well. CJ Stroud has got to have the
ability to have a pocket to be able to do that.
And it makes me nervous
that of all the wide receivers that we're taking
in that range, he's the one
I feel like has the biggest bust
potential because of
not only the quarterback play. I know we were just talking about
Gino Smith. I'm not sure I really think
CJ Stroud is that good of a quarterback
to be honest. And maybe if he had a better
pocket and he had a lot more time back there,
I would feel differently. But after what I saw
in his rookie season, it's just felt like regression
city ever since. So I
am out on Nico Collins and think that he
is one of the biggest bust potentials
because of the fact that he's being drafted as
a low-end wide receiver one. I have a question. Yeah.
This one surprised me. We've
talked about this before. Life insurance is one of those

What has changed for him? Like, what is the
difference from, like, say, the last three years to this year
with Nico Collins? Like, what am I missing? I feel like
I'm missing something. I'll give you the answer.
He has finished top 10 in fantasy points per game
three years in a row now. So what is different this year
that makes him, that he's going to plummet?
That's where I don't understand. I was thinking about this one
here a little bit. Also, you highlighted a point
while you pull it up, Field. No, no, you go.
You said he's finished top 10
in fantasy points per game for three years in a row.
And I told you that three of the last
five seasons, he has spent time on the injured reserve
list. I don't want to draft a wide receiver
one that has an injury history
that's found him on the IR over
half of his career. But he finished eighth
in total points last year, too. Last year
he did. But do you
believe that injury history still exists?
Maybe. I don't put a lot
of stock into it. I think it's
something that's easy
to look back at it, but it's hard to predict it forward,
which is why I'm so conservative with
injury projections. I don't think that. But I just don't
know what has changed for him. He feels
like a floor play to me. I don't. I think what Nico Collins
crystallizes really well
is we talk about wide receiver depth all the time,
right? And there are players that we like that are ranked like
wide receiver 34. You're like, I could totally
see it with. I don't even know who wide receiver 34 is. I think it's
like Cortland Sutton. We could all agree that
Cortland Sutton could work at wide receiver 20 or
something. Yes, sure.
And because we have positive
outlooks for like 34 guys, it would make
you think that there's got to be like 10 or 12
that you think are totally
money in the bank. When the reality
is there is a dip somewhere
after those like first five or six
receivers. It's pretty notable.
Just go through some of Nico's games from
last year, right? First week, three
for 25, three for
52 with a touchdown, eight
for 104 with a touchdown. Okay, now you're like
we're back on track. And then he goes three
straight games with exactly four
catches. Then he goes
three games with seven, seven, and nine.
And then the rest of the season, one,
two, three, four, five, six. He ends the year with
six games with five or
fewer catches. That doesn't sound like a floor
play to me. It is, though.
I mean, I have his bus rate was
best among wide receivers, and he
had one of the highest top 10
rates as well. I mean, I disagree.
I just think it's wide receivers are
more volatile. So
maybe the yeah, so it brings me to the back
to the point of like, you know, the Pucas, the JSNs,
the Amon Raz, maybe a few
more that you could put into that category. Like maybe
a Justin Jefferson reverse to form CD.
Lamb reverts to form their
Rashi Rice. He can stay healthy
and on the field for the Chiefs can be that guy. Drake
London, you know, it just paints that picture
that maybe that drop off hits right
before Nico Collins comes off the
board. I would like to also state
really quickly that while Nico Collins was, what
did you say? Finish as wide receiver 11 points per
game last year. A wide receiver
seven in total points or something like that. Yeah, it was
a total 10th top 10
points per game. That was with
no running backs on the roster. And I
am taking a shot at Woody Marks here, but like they
brought in David Montgomery to be a guy. They
want him to be someone that they did not have last
year because Joe Mixon didn't exist
for this team. He did it. He was top 10 with
Joe Mixon two years ago. He
was wide receiver 23 two
years ago. And what per game? No
total points. Okay. He missed he missed
games. He was a he was top 10 and points. So you're
looking at points per game and I'm looking at a
wide zero when he's out, you know, but I have
to go to my bench to go find someone else. It's not
Nico Collins. Okay, but you have to add back replacement
level. I don't know. I just
don't get how we're poking holes in this guy. I mean, even
you just compared him to say flowers. I
can take was top 10 more than say flowers. He was
a let finished 11 to 20 more than say flowers
a flowers crushed him in 21
to 30 finishes. I was higher floor
and then in terms of outside the top 30
you're about to say, I believe I know why and it's
this is Daniel's pick not mine.
I think last year we were all preparing
for Nico Collins to lift off.
It was like he is going to graduate
from like awesome supposed to be
to like he might be a top five
wide out. Like I remember last year.
I remember this
league, of course, distinctly because
it's high leverage the war room. I had the
ninth pick last year and I was like,
I think I'm gonna take Nico Collins ninth
overall. That's how optimistic I was. I ended
up not and I somehow got him. I
guess at 25 was when I picked in the
second round to 16 team league and I was like,
I just got to steal the draft
Nico Collins. We were like, I thought
this guy was about ready to go to the moon
and he didn't. He had a solid
season, but I think we were banking on
the spectacular because there are moments of
spectacular. Yep. And as of this year, Daniel
does not view him as a guy going into the spectacle.
Seven guys.
Seven weeks outside the top 25 of wide receivers last year.
Plus, he missed time again this year.
That's good, though.
That's good compared to other wide receivers.
That's what I'm saying.
Wide receivers are so volatile, you're going to have numbers like that.
It's like, I don't think it's fair to compare him to Chase, Nakua, JSN, Amon.
If that's what you're doing, then fine.
You're right.
He's a tier down from that.
But we have him ranked as such.
I have an idea.
He's only in the second or third round.
I hear you.
I hear you here.
I don't know.
Again, I don't get this one.
It almost feels like you don't get this one, Mike.
I can't tell.
I don't.
From your tone?
Mine is a better one.
Mine is Teterovic.
Oh, of course.
All right.
Go ahead, Mike.
All right.
We'll just pivot off that.
We could do a whole show.
I have an idea, though, to add to make this work at the end.
And look, I might be totally wrong on Nico, but I'm asking you to explain to me what I'm
missing, and you're not doing that.
I don't know what it is.
I don't think that you have the emotional side of football like I do.
That must be it.
I truly think that's it.
I don't think that you think about football the way like I do.
But I feel like if I've had Nico.
There is no but.
There is no but.
But if I've had Nico, I wouldn't be emotionally scarred by him.
I feel like just because he missed his games here or there when he plays, he's good.
No, this actually, Mike, is like, it's almost annoying how good you are at this, but like.
I don't compartmentalize like that.
Correct.
Like, I care too much.
I'm just being honest.
You're so good at being like, yeah, but he was whatever.
I guess that's it.
Like, maybe you guys had drafted him last year as like, I think he's going to make the
JSN leap, and he hasn't done that.
So you're like, oh, he's just not.
He disappointed me where I'm just like, he's kind of been.
Honestly, I'm just a sappy emotional guy.
I don't know.
And sometimes.
Sometimes when my teams don't win.
That has to be.
But that's what I'm trying to understand.
Like, I'm legit asking.
Three of his five years.
He's over half of his time in the NFL.
He has gone into the injured reserve list.
I don't want to draft a wide receiver that has spent more time on IR than they've spent
time off IR.
When you look at three of his five seasons.
That's not true, though.
What do you mean?
He doesn't spend more time on IR.
He has spent time on the injured reserve list.
Okay.
So sometimes I spend.
Sometimes I think about it.
And we have 14 minutes left.
We're going to get to our time.
Yeah, we got to fly through the doubtful.
I have a lot to say on Tucker.
We live, obviously, in Connecticut, and there are three teams that really move the needle
around here for fans, right?
Patriots, the Jets, and the Giants.
And so I know a lot of Giants fans as a result of being in Connecticut.
And I have a lot of Giants fans that are just so disgruntled and frustrated over their team.
Year in and year out.
It's like, God damn it.
Our offense sucked again last year.
We underperformed.
Yada, yada, yada.
And I always feel like my retort to them is like, if I could tell you that over a 20-year
span, you would win two Super Bowls, would you take the other 18 outcomes regardless
of what they do?
As a Lions fan, I would say yes.
In a heartbeat.
Yes.
And so that's me putting on my Mike Clay hat for a second.
Because yes, they've won two of the past 20 Super Bowls and arguably two of the biggest
upsets during that time as well.
They don't care about that.
I mean, they do care about that, but it doesn't mean that they're not incredibly frustrated
by the fact that they lose every game.
Not every game.
Every year they've lost way more games than they expected to.
So that is the Mike versus Daniel side of the New York Giants.
Argument that hopefully brings it to light.
Let's get to your pick, Mike.
Tedderow, McMillan, and then we'll do tight ends and say goodbye.
Tedderow, McMillan, offense rookie of the year last year.
I think you know where I'm going with this.
16th in fantasy points, 22nd points per game, but he had one top 10.
We didn't see a ceiling from him.
He only got 56% of his targets, and we're not so sure that Bryce Young is going to be
better this year.
That's why I don't know if he's going to improve on where he was last year.
Bryce, a 6.3 yards per attempt each of the past two seasons.
He has yet to finish top 20 in passing yards or completion percentage.
And in three seasons, he supported just two, get ready for this, two top 50
fantasy receivers.
One was McMillan last year.
The other was Adam Thielen a couple of years ago.
So I just, it's, he needs a leap from Bryce to get to that next level.
We're ranking him at that next level.
I think the floor could fall out.
So that's, that's the case on him.
Honestly, this just felt like a layup.
So that's why I didn't pick it.
I wanted to go with something a little bit more difficult.
So I'm with you.
I agree with all your stuff.
I'm not even going to fight with you on it.
You just made a bad pick, right?
We got all of our energy and our emotions out.
Remember that Nico Collins?
Mike and I do love each other.
Sometimes people worry that Mike and I don't love each other.
Mike is one of my best friends.
Look, that's why we're able to have conversations like that.
Yes.
Trust me.
We are all good here.
Wait, so can, do we workshop this?
Like, do we find a way to kind of like each category, one of us wins,
one of us lose, like we have a gold, silver, bronze for each of these?
That's like best pick out of all of them?
Or like, you know.
Which you got the silvers and the bronze so far?
Stop it.
Like whoever, whoever's pick busts more.
I'm going to win.
I'm going to win tight end though.
So I just want to.
I want the W on tight end in advance.
This is a fascinating.
I don't exactly know how to do this off the top of my head,
but we can maybe talk through like a way to possibly score this.
So for the end of the year.
That'd be fun.
And be like, who's picked for the best.
Oh yeah, good call.
I would love that.
That'd be great.
All right, let's get the tight ends.
This does feel personal.
You did one pick against me, one pick against Mike,
and then a second pick against Daniel Field.
Get him.
Get him.
That's what you get for picking Nico.
That's right.
Actually, I was sort of right down the middle on Nico.
I had a really hard time coming up with a tight end bust because the position is
so thin with good options.
Yeah.
That talking myself out of one of the good options hurt my heart.
Yep.
I ended up with Sam Laporta.
The only reason why is last year he played 10 games.
He got hurt in week 10 of last season.
So maybe he played nine games.
Do you know how many end zone targets Sam Laporta had last year?
I don't know this one.
I don't either.
One.
That's not good.
And maybe this is the outlier.
Maybe he was dealing with that back injury.
Up to that point, maybe they were just managing him.
But generally speaking, tight ends are going to need touchdowns other than maybe
three or four at the very top.
So generally speaking, we're going to need more touchdown upside than Sam
Laporta showed last year.
Easy counter.
Hey, two seasons ago, three seasons ago as a rookie, he was really good in that
category.
No need to feel like that's not going to get back on track.
It's that.
It's also the general number of pass catchers the Lions have.
He has two career 100-yard games.
There's not a ton there in the department of big receiving outings for Sam Laporta.
And he's now hurt.
And I know that we said, like, busts generally aren't injury related.
But when a guy's going into the season with hip and back, it's not quite Christian McCaffrey,
but it's at least on the radar.
I agree with you.
I'm with you on that, unfortunately.
If it wasn't for this hip injury that just recently flared up and he was just coming
back from back injury and things sounded good, I would feel a little bit more optimistic
about it.
I've drafted him.
Yeah, I have as well.
But I'm I definitely see that, especially because if he's not out there, we've seen
Jameson Williams without Sam Laporta absolutely take off in this offense.
And so I don't think the Lions feel like they need to force Sam Laporta out there with the
other options they have.
It's like, let him get healthy.
They got other other people.
So I'm with you.
I like, unfortunately, I like this.
I think we should finish with yours, Daniel, because it's one of the most interesting and
I think understandable.
Like, there's a logic behind it.
Yeah.
OK, so I'll go second.
This is my favorite one, too, because I went down a rabbit.
Rabbit hole on this guy yesterday and it was fascinating.
So Tucker Craft is mine.
Jack Rabbit played his football.
It's that's it.
That was a good pull.
Good pull.
So, look, I've been kind of bad at him all offseason because he tore his ACL in the middle
of last season and it was kind of an unknown when he would be ready to go this year.
It looks like he might be ready for week one, but I could, in theory, just stop there.
Like tight end coming off an ACL chance to bust.
Right.
Yep.
But there's there's more to it.
Obviously, came out was fine in his rookie season, but it was only 14th and fantasy
points per game because he didn't see a lot of volume.
He was 18th in targets and catches, but he was very lucky in touchdowns, seven touchdowns,
but only three end zone targets was way over his head.
Then we go into next or last year.
I obviously got hurt midseason, but before that, way over his head in the touchdown
department again, had six, but his expected total was one point eight, only two end zone
targets.
You might be thinking, wait, that's two years in a row where he just like almost tripled
his expected touchdown total.
He's probably just good at touchdowns.
That's just not the reality of the situation.
I actually did some research.
I did some research on that two years, two year stretches of tight ends that exceed their
totals by the largest numbers.
He's at an add or near the top of the list.
Those guys all year three went down.
Wow.
And like he'll still the history says he'll still be an OK touchdown score.
He's probably not going to score two this year, but, you know, he'll he's going to fall
off from where he's been his touchdown rate.
But I went a little deeper because I was like the one reason why I might feel differently
is that his targets went up his last two games before.
He got hurt.
He had 10 targets in back-to-back games.
So I was like, all right, maybe his target share should be much higher because that.
So I looked a little closer.
2024 averaged 4.1 targets per game.
His first five games last year, 4.2 targets per game.
So about the same.
Then he had the two games with 10 targets.
Jaden Reed was out for both of those games.
Christian Watson missed week seven, which is one of those games.
Dontavion Wicks was out week eight.
So a little bit of targets could go his direction.
And then I looked at his best games last year.
He had four games.
So 12 fantasy points.
They were against the Bengals, Cardinals, Steelers, and Commanders who ranked.
Get ready for this.
First, second, fourth, and fifth.
And fantasy points allowed to tight ends last season.
And that's like meaning they're cakewalk matchups.
Yes.
And they were his only four games with 12 plus fantasy points.
And two of them were those games where he was heavily targeted.
So I was like, maybe that explains why he was a featured part of the game plan those
two weeks.
And what would have happened after that?
Would he have kind of come back to earth and seen four targets a game?
So all of that.
That plus the ACL, plus how competitive that midrange areas of tight ends and his costs
in the sixth round, I could see him just plummeting and not paying off.
That's such a nuanced argument.
How do you fight it?
I went down there.
I did go down.
You went down the rabbit hole.
It wasn't intentional, but I was looking at it and I was like, wait a minute, that jumps
out.
And I just kept going and going and going.
I'm just waiting for the part where Mike says something that convinces me that Tucker
Kraft is supposed to be a bust this year.
It wasn't convincing enough.
Oh, yeah.
That wasn't enough.
He's got a 9th round ADP
He's one of the most
one of the more expensive tight ends on ninth round okay but if you play here espn platforms
i'm good with it in the ninth round yeah daniel yours is so fascinating so make the case because
i think you're pointing to a construct less than a player and i'll explain that a hundred percent
my bust unfortunately is trey mcbride get out
trey mcbride is unbelievable it's i mean him or brock bowers that they're 1a and 1b we know that
the dude is one of the if not the best tight end in the game he is going to continue to have a huge
target share he will be potentially the number one pass catcher on his team again if we don't
see michael uh michael i almost said michael wilson i didn't even mean michael wilson marvin
harrison jr become the guy that they drafted him to be but the draft cost is just way too high for
me given some of these other tight ends that we're talking about right now in fantasy football
right now coming off the board with the 21st overall pick so the very beginning of the third
round
and if you don't know depending on where you're picking if you're in the second round and you
know he won't make it back to you in the third he's sometimes coming off in the middle of the
second round because you know he won't make it back to me with where the tight end position is
that it's not about how good this guy is it's not about how many points he's going to score
i just think that i can wait a couple of rounds get someone that's going to be close to where he
is at and get better positional value because of it because i can take another wide receiver
or running back or something else at that point of the draft get my tight end a little later
would brock bowers have fallen in the same category for you it was
you could slash train mcbride slash brock bowers this is sort of like the josh allen argument we've
been making uh bill polian i used to have a quote when he was with us at espn and i think it i might
be off by either a couple words or or stores but it was basically like if you're going to pay
tiffany pricing you can't get marshall's quality or something like that you know fair i like it
you're paying high-end boutique jeweler you can't get department store quality product right and so
for train mcbride to be worth his
late second round adp he's got to be comparable to the difference maker he was last year which
could definitely happen i mean we like the depth to a degree at tight end but it does fall off
pretty definitely right like you get past eight or nine guys and all of a sudden you're like
really like dallas goddard like jake ferguson hunter henry is those guys like that good really
yeah i think it's fair because i i mean kind of to your point i haven't paid the cost for him i'm
waiting a little later yeah on the other hand like who leads the nfl and catches and targets over the
last two seasons jamar chase who's second train mcbride mcbride so it's hard to pick him apart also
use it the goal also he wasn't that great with kyler last year he was averaged averaging 12 and
a half fantasy points per game once per set came in he was at 21.1 per game and per set still his
quarterback for now so uh that that helps the cost but because but i'll give you this one because i'm
not paying the cost michael oh my god i'm not paying the cost it's not as good as uh tucker
craft okay i'm just all right all right we brought a bonus bus yeah let's do a bonus bus
yeah mine will be quick you want me to go first yeah quick
go ahead he talked about him omarian hampton was my freaking for this all the reasons we i already
gave my case you gave your case so i'll leave it at that i'm gonna lean into mine very quickly as
well it's ashton gentry it has nothing to do with the get the interest and help the cause
but i don't know if the offensive line is that much improved it is definitely a better scheme
yep i do think his overall snap percentage will drop they will
ready for this daniel have a more egalitarian backfield approach right i'm mike jr most
mike washington's right like mike juniors but maybe the most important thing is if you go read
the espn magazine espn magazine fantasy preview there is a graphic produced by mike clay that
shows projected strength of schedule for each team by position and the raiders project to have the
most difficult schedule for running backs this upcoming season so those would be reasons why
ashton gentry can bust this year okay okay i like it well i would have said christian mcafree but
i've been saying him all season long so like i'm not choosing him for this exercise but i think he
clearly fits the bill um i would end up going with davante adams as my other bus top 20 wide
receiver a guy there's a lot of guys there's probably at least six to eight other wide
receivers being drafted behind him that i just like the ceiling of and potentiality of is that
a word sure potentiality yeah of more this season than i do with davante adams and that skill set
that even though he's awesome it's sooner or later you start to see these guys start to fall i like
him more and i think he's probably more ascending give me elad mcconkey over the bus all those end
zone targets that he got last year going to terence ferguson we know that's right baby no no no two two
at well oh that's right he's back baby back on the on the right i mean he was he was playing about
half the snaps early last year mr three got hurt and then when he came back he kind of just rotated
in so he might be the three but the good news is it kind of cements our love for the tight ends
because they're if that's their target and not you know i don't know someone they didn't sign
like keaton allen or someone like that or stefan diggs like if it's a good thing to have a good
if it's two two at well and cannot a month field and guys like that then we should be pretty safe
with our tight end love i just like what the dolphins are doing right now as an organization
they signed two two for 1.4 million dollars which is basically nothing for an nfl veteran of his
caliber or of his tenure and they traded them for a guy that was good enough to go in the fourth
round two years ago let's see whether jarquez hunter is a good player or not um i thought he
went about where he was graded to go that's like kind of intriguing right there if you're miami
like what i mean what was the destiny for two to out with that franchise yeah no it wasn't yeah i
think that was hunter because you're number 20 yeah there was some hedging there i think with
the injury to chris bell but it looks like he's gonna be ready to go so he's moving along yeah
keep an eye on him all right love that it's been a fun week guys closing out the week of the fantasy
