I absolutely love this song. - Happy and sad at the same time. - Brilliant. - It's like a gorgeous wedding song, but then I was like, oh, but it kind of like so's, 'cause it's kind of like about a wedding, it sounds like. She's like sad, 'cause it's maybe not gonna last forever. That's an interesting mindset to be in, like on your wedding night. We did a song together a long time ago. I had a song called Easy, and she actually just messaged me, and was like, I love this song, and I was like, what do you wanna hop on up? ♪ Can you look at you, would you look at this night ♪ ♪ She steps to you feet, the world is hot ♪ - It's one of my proudest moments, I would say. - What was like, we're getting together. - So fun. - Was it together? - Was it remote? - No, it was together. We shot a music video and everything. We did it in Nashville. Mark Ronson, hopped on it as well. She's so fucking funny as well. I don't know if people know that about her. The balance between like technical ability and tone, like her tone, come on. I think she's also just like the coolest and like the sexiest of all time. She creates like this atmosphere. On stage, she just like is so calm and in control. And her voice sounds exactly like that, if not better. I think one of my favorite albums of the year so far. I've always been a fan, but I feel like he has truly outdone himself on this album. It's like golden hour level. So it's really, really, really good. I love it. - Yeah, I feel like he kind of was in a groove, making this, it seems like. Hit like a creative stride. - Exactly. - And took his time with it. It seems like. - Yeah. - And it was like, I'm just gonna rush something out. - No, no, this is like classically beautiful, like amazing, amazing songwriting. And that's one thing I regret it was not seeing his show. I missed it because I was away, but like, wow. I should have, I should have stayed or something. Another person who I just feel is completely self-actualized. She is, I'm not gonna say no final form 'cause I know that she's gonna keep going and just like being incredible for her whole life, probably, how lucky are we to witness this artist who's so completely in control the fucking goat? How was it playing together? - So fun, I mean, we met, like, I don't know, where, where do we see it? I think there's always been like a little bit of a creative synergy between us, where we just like a lot of the same things and we did a song together, then we did another song together, then we did another song together, and then we were both, I think, nervous about touring. The idea came up to do it together, and I was like, wait, that's an option, like, that's allowed. And it was truly the best time of my life. It was like a party everyone was involved in, and it was genuinely just like an unbelievable energy. - I was about to say that. There was no separation between the performance and the people who were in the audience, was giving you guys so much, and you were giving so much back. - It was like a club, it was awesome. - It was an organist. (upbeat music) - Janet Jackson. (upbeat music) - The true good. I mean, I've always loved Janet. Like some of my earliest memories are, Janet Jackson's songs and music videos and stuff. But together again, video, it's like some of my earliest memories. ♪ Always been a true way to tell me now but ♪ ♪ I can wait for you to rock your way around the game ♪ - I saw Janet live at the Hollywood Bowl, and I'm not getting that, like, change the trajectory of my life because I was like, it sent me on the path of my last album, which did, like, totally change my life. So shout out Janet Jackson. I've never met her. Don't know that I have, like, even one, two. Don't meet your heroes, kind of, I, like, just let her be Janet Jackson. - Imagine that's your brother, and you're like, no, I'm gonna actually not only step out of your show, I'm gonna just do this whole thing, that's just incredible. I think it's so cool when you go back into these, like, major pop artists' discographies, and they're, like, trying shit. Like, Janet's got some weird music. - Yeah. And then this time, I was like, I just wanna make stuff that feels chaotic and a little manic and varied, and it was very, like, liberating for me. (upbeat music) ♪ I love the world so new ♪ - Avalanche's, Avalanche's are a band from Australia. - Shout out. - And they make music using basically, like, exclusively samples. This album has thousands and thousands of thousands of samples on it. Talk about music that feels alive. Like, this is, like, you hear the world in this music. You know what I mean? It's, like, there's ambient noises and crowds and people and it feels, like, this living, breathing organism that you could listen to, this album, I think, forever, and always find something new. Because they were just, like, doing it for fun, I think, in the beginning. My understanding is that they, like, didn't really clear anything, like, sample-wise. I asked for forgiveness later, kind of thing, and it's a great album since I left you. It's awesome. (upbeat music) - It's music, I'm a donor. (upbeat music) - Speak about, like, Visionaries being weirdest fuck. - I love this song so much. And I heard this song on a dance floor not that long ago, and I was like, it's fucking hits. - Fucking hits. - It's so hot. - This era, this music, ray of light era. It's just weirder, but still so cool. It's also so, like, pop. - I feel like she's always just had a finger on, like, what's actually cool. - Like, she's a curator as much as she is an artist. Madonna is also, you know, some of my earliest memories of music period. I was like, eight years old or whatever. And figured out how to download, like, a prayer. I feel like the goal for me is to try and capture, like, a feeling. - Yeah. - There's all these layers where it's, like, instrumentation and the production and the melody and lyric. And then there's, like, the way that it's mixed and all of these things make, like, a concoction. And you tweak each little thing and it can completely change it. And only when it's, like, totally perfect, do you really capture, like, a feeling.
