Temperature Check! Is Kyle Harrison An Ace? (5/21 Fantasy Baseball Podcast)

The podcast discusses several polarizing pitchers and their rest-of-season outlooks. Kyle Harrison's standout performance (7 IP, 0 ER, 11 K) highlights his elite fastball (97th percentile PLV) and improved arm angle, leading to an SP ranking of 34-37 as a legitimate breakout. Drew Anderson's first start (4.2 IP, 0 ER, 7 K) showcases his bat-missing and ground-ball skills, but his rotation spot is threatened by Justin Verlander's rehab. Trey a Savage dominated the Yankees again (6 IP, 0 ER, 7 K), with his splitter velocity returning to normal, suggesting he's rounding into form after injury. Cam Schlitter continues to excel (1.50 ERA, 1.83 FIP), ranking as a top-10 SP. Injury updates include Tarik Skubal needing a rehab assignment, Hunter Brown nearing one, and Shane Bieber potentially returning by late June. The hosts also note that Thomas White is not expected to join the Marlins soon, while Kyle Schwarber, Yandee Diaz, and Miguel Vargas are dealing with minor issues. Overall, the show emphasizes the value of monitoring these pitchers for fantasy baseball, especially in deeper leagues.

Welcome to the fantasy baseball today podcast from CBS Sports Got a fantasy question email fantasy baseball at CBSi.com Get ready to win your league Now here's Frank Scott and Chris Welcome in tough fantasy baseball today on Thursday, May 21st I am Frank Sample join by Scott White today on the show We have a temperature checks see how we feel about some polarizing players rest of season I've got hitters who are trending up a pictures duel in the Bronx and much more. Let's jump in Cald you believe it and that was exactly what I said While watching Kyle Harrison pitch here on Wednesday He destroyed the Cubs seven shutout innings with 11 strikeouts two hits one walk He had 19 whips on 94 pitches 13 on the fastball six on the slurve He's both of those pitches a little bit more than this one and that's all I needed I mean that fastball was just Unbelievable much like it has been all season. I mean that fastball entering this start had a 32% whiff rate and that is Like top of the league type stuff and that number is only gonna go up because the fastball had a 43% whiff rate here in this start I have been I guess a little hesitant or slow to to really boost Kyle Harrison up the rankings just because I Have been a little bit worried about his pitch mix like does he have enough but If his fastball is going to be this dominant and his slurve is Just good enough like I think it's a pretty good pitch That might be all he needs got so How high are removing Kyle Harrison in the rankings after a star like this? So I got him up to 37 It's getting pretty high It's ahead of Kyle Bradish. It's ahead of Carlos Rodón Nick Lodolo some of those pitchers that I still more or less believe in but obviously they've been under achieving It's in the same range as Jose Soriano another one of this year's big breakout pitchers and Parker Messick And although it's three I would have to say Harrison has the most upside. It's just he has I guess the skill set that maybe is a little harder to trust since it is such a limited arsenal and in many ways the same arsenal He's always been running out there without much success But you know the talk with him so much early in his career Was yeah Kyle Harrison has a great fastball does he have anything else and It turns out maybe he doesn't need anything else because the fastball so good the Brewers have made some other tweaks there Like his arm angle I pointed out after his last start is higher and and so that's probably having an impact too with the change in results here, but This is now for Kyle Harrison It is his third start in five Where he's gone six innings or more and Double digit strikeouts and two of those five starts so He is looking like a real solid starting pitcher now in addition to being somebody who's missing a lot of bats and I think We should be counting him among the breakouts the biggest breakouts for sure now. I think so too I am looking now at pitcher list at their pitcher dashboard they they have this PLV metric I've brought it up plenty of times that basically just it's all in an all-encompassing metric on a specific pitch that tells you How good it is how much it rates out against other pitches like that in the league and Kyle Harrison's fastball this year is in the 97th percentile on their PLV metric and They have elicit as a curve, but we know it's like a slurved tight pitch 91st percentile so Even if he only has two pitches. I mean if those are elite pitches then I am starting to you know buy this breakout from Kyle Harrison I was updating my rankings before he made the start earlier today I moved them up to sp 45 but I think I have to get him higher we were talking beforehand I moved Braxton ashcraft all the way up to sp 33. I mean his underlying numbers just look awesome so far this season His actual numbers look really good - 25 for ashcraft for me. Got a one-up your Frank. Yep So look if I have ashcraft at 33 there's like why wouldn't Kyle Harrison just be right next to him kind of in that range So I'm gonna go have to go ahead and move Harrison up. I think a little bit more. Come on. He's not Braxton ashcraft Let's get real here, but just like a young pitcher, you know displaying massive upside and you know in that in that breakout mold so I yeah I As I was talking through that just now, I'm not sure I won Kyle Harrison as low as 37 I I do think there is less margin for error with him than for rain than for Jose Soriano and Parker Messick But I would rather have Harrison at this point than both of those so I think I'm gonna get him up to 34 After the podcast so yeah Yeah, Kyle Harrison. I think we have a good one here. He he all right. Don't remind everybody Let me remind everybody because it was a while ago. He was a big prospect coming up through the giant system He regularly had K-Pernine rates in the double digits down there so it was He was a big disappointment early in his career. It's it's less It's less so much that he should have never been this then maybe he should have been this all along Which might help to reassure people who have doubts about Kyle Harrison And he came over in the what the Caleb Durbin trade, right? I think that's what it was I believe so from the Red Sox who are after originally coming over in the Devers trade from the giants, right? Yeah, not not to pile on the Red Sox and their fans. I would never wouldn't do that but Not looking too good there for for the Red Sox. They gave up on Kyle Harrison And so they also for Devers got back James Tibbs who they then traded away to the Dodgers in the Dustin, maybe on look at what he's doing a triple A so that That could have been they could have legitimately won that Raphael Devers trade if they hadn't been Traded away everything they got given up on it too soon Because Harrison and Tibbs are both looking pretty good right now All right, so again Kyle Harrison huge start sounds like Scotty and Scotty and I are valuing him around an sp3 type Breath of season over you Scott for your player of the night. We are going much deeper here Much deeper and maybe too deep Drew Anderson Mr. Anderson of the Tigers I have actually seen two matrix movies either I didn't watch the third one because everyone told me it was terrible I mean only the first one really needed to exist was one of those situations. It was too successful for its own good And usually I just pretend the the others don't exist when that happens like there was only one matrix In my head I guess that's right I didn't either but I do the same thing with Jurassic Park do the same thing with jaws Like okay, yeah, they made sequels those were fun kind of Kind of fanfic I guess but You know there's there's only one that that really counts in my mind and I just have a easier time dealing with it that way Anyway, let's talk about mr. Anderson Drew Anderson Of the Tigers made a start here. I believe it was technically his second start No, it was his first it was his first star And he threw four and two-thirds shut out and he struck out seven Against the Guardians 63 pitches so didn't go five endings was limited to 63 pitches because he had spent the year in the bullpen But you know obviously seven strikeouts during that time no one runs during that time 10 whiffs on 63 pitches Including six on the fastball. So he's got a bat missing fastball overall he entered this start With a 52% ground ball rate and a 13.7% swing strike rate that is A spicy combination there for Drew Anderson one that if they're really gonna let him Run with this starting opportunity would get me very excited about him and he is another one who came over From East Asia Korea the Green League specifically last year there he struck out 245 batters So he was dominant over there and we're seeing that bat missing potential We're seeing it translate to a starting role here for Drew Anderson with great ground ball skills I think that's a very exciting possibility the only issue is Justin Verlander has been throwing sim games and I think he got up over 60 pitches in his last one And you got to figure Justin Verlander's gonna have rotations but Again soon so life finds a way in all I don't know that cater Monterey for instance really needs a rotation spot If the Tigers are convinced Drew Anderson deserves Some more runway here jack flurry has been terrible too. Yeah, it's hard to imagine him just losing a rotation spot over it But he has been terrible Yeah I think there's a lot to like for Drew Anderson. I hope he finds a way to stick in the rotation. I think if you have a spot to play with in a deeper league, it's absolutely worth picking him up. You never have too much pitching and he seems equipped to help there if he gets the chance. Yeah. In addition to the fastball entering and start his change up and curveball both had wif rates over 33% as well. So he legitimately has three different plus whiff pitches so far this season. That was in a relief role. We'll see if it can translate to a starter's role. It did at least for for one start here where he again had the seven strikeouts over four and two third zinnings. He is RP only on CBS. So if they continue to stretch him out, you can use him as a spark if you play in a head to head point league. If you're into that. And yeah, I think deep relief for now. Aayl only for sure. 15 team roto. I think you could take a shot and just see where it goes. Anything shallower than that. I think it's kind of a scout team. Let's let's see where this goes here for Drew Anderson. I do have a bonus here. And that was a pitcher's duel out in the Bronx. It's time to do do do do do do do. Trey a Savage up against Camm Shlitter. What a fun matchup here man. Trey a Savage. Oh yeah. The Savage. Six shut out innings with H Strikeout sezera walks. Scott find somebody who loves you. The way that Trey a Savage loves dominating the Yankees because if you remember last year he threw five and a third no hit innings with 11 strikeouts against the Yankees. So he's now up to 11 and a third shut out with 19 strikeouts to one walk against the Yankees to start season start that you're referring to. I believe it was. Yeah. Yeah. So he dominates the Yankees. In fact, he struck out judge three times, I believe. Judge had four strikeouts in the game. So yeah, he's going through a little bit of a slump there. But I think this is the closest to last years, you know, Savage that we've seen so far. Obviously he was jacked up for this start. His velocity was up across the board. And he's another one that we could just have the conversation about is, you know, we were all pretty excited about him as a breakout before we knew about the injury. But now it looks like he's just kind of rounding into that player we thought he was going to be. Yeah, I was especially relieved to see the fast the fastball up, not the fastball up on the splitter, the velocity up. I was especially relieved to see the velocity up on the splitter for your Savage because that was the most concerning data point for me when he wasn't performing particularly well on his rehab assignment. And then kind of an if he start the splitter velocity was down two miles per hour from a year ago. But it has been rising and it was basically back to normal. It was basically in this start back to where it was last year for you Savage. Maybe he was especially pumped to be facing the Yankees. I don't know what his psychological state is when he goes up against the pinstripes like that. But were they wearing pinstripes? Yeah, they're they were they were wearing the pinstripes. Yeah. Were they in the postseason last year? No, they weren't. So maybe it's not the pinstripes. It's just the interlocking in why that really gets the adrenaline going for Traeus average. I don't know. I don't know. But hopefully it continues and the splitter is fine. It's also encouraging to see him go six endings and back to back starts. So he seems to be beyond that buildup period that continued from the rehab assignment. And I think I do rank him behind those 2026 breakouts that I just talked about now Kyle Harrison among them but also Parker Messick and Jose Soriano. I have you Savage a little behind them. Kind of in the image she enraged in part because I wasn't sure how many sub five ending starts he was going to give us. It's hard to get much value from a pitcher who keeps doing that. And that's been she ends problem too. But you know, another couple more starts like that. That I'm going to have to reassess this for you Savage as well. Currently he's 43rd and my SP rankings. Yeah. He's another one where after the star. I mean, it's so easy to say after the star. But he reminded us of the player. The pitcher we thought he was going to be before the injury. And I think rightfully so is someone that probably should be moving up the rankings probably right alongside Kyle Harrison as a top 36 starting pitcher. And you know, with the ability to rise a lot quicker if he continues to pitch like this on the other side. Cam Schletler six plus innings eight hits to runs seven strikeouts to two walks. He actually had six shut out. Faltered late came out for the seventh. He allowed the first four base runners to reach the reliever came in. I think allowed one of those base runners to score as well. So that's how we get to the two run runs here. He ran at a steam. He was a little bit more radical in the start. But still had the seven strikeouts 16 lifts on a hundred six pitches. I think it's all systems go. We all ranked. Cam Schletler as a top 10 starting pitcher with the velocity up on that cutter and just like the souped up Lancelain repertoire that he has here, you know, just throwing three different fastballs that just look amazing. Just these to say healthy. That's the biggest thing. So his ERA Schletler is now 150, which is impressive enough. But we all know how ERA is it is prone to it is prone to being skewed one direction or another. The fit though, the fit is 183 for Cam Schletler. And just the way fit is calculated, it tends to compress the outside edges of the bell curve, you know, kind of kind of bring everything back toward a realistic middle. So to have a fit below two, I mean, that that just goes to show you how how it's it's just an outrageous level of dominance here for Schletler in the early going. And it's still bound to regress at some point. But even the ERA estimators are showing he is off to a historic start this season. All right, before we hit our first break, we just have a little heads up for you that coming this Sunday/ Monday morning, we won't be live as usual on Sunday night because of Memorial Day weekend. So we are recording a mailbag later today Thursday evening. So sending your questions now, fantasy baseball at cbsi.com is the email address. That's the letter I. So again, fantasy baseball at cbsi.com. And we are recording that on Thursday. It'll come out Sunday night and that will kind of take the place of our normal week in recap. We'll be live Monday night and we'll recap I guess the long four day weekend. Then so that should be a very long fun episode. So get your questions in now. Let's take a break and we'll be back right after this. Welcome back in fantasy baseball today. Let's hit the news and notes and AJ hinge confirmed that Terrick's Google will require a rehab assignment. There was some speculation that he might rejoin the Tiger's rotation next week, which sounds insane. But it does seem realistic now at this point that he will be back at some point in June, boring a setback. Yeah, that was, uh, I was updating my rankings earlier today, which is probably why we're referring to them a lot more. I had dropped scuba to 50th with the initial news of him having surgery on his elbow. I have now raised him back up to 10. So let's just pretend that period of him being dozens of spots lower in the rankings. As seemed reasonable at the time. Let's just pretend that period didn't exist. Hunter Brown topped out at 96 miles per hour during a 22 pitch live BP session on Tuesday. And he could begin a rehab assignment this weekend. The latest we heard on a timeline is that they're hoping like early to mid June. Probably more like mid June there for Hunter Brown. Garrett crocheted through two innings in a bullpen on Wednesday. He'll throw a side session Friday or Saturday before tossing his live, uh, first live BP next week. So working his way closer to a rehab assignment, Scott, we got duped. It turns out Thomas White is not expected to join the Marlins anytime soon. Uh, in fact, I think I saw that he went on the aisle. So, uh, I mean, we didn't know what precautionary meant to turns out. Yeah. And then what it normally means that he's dealing with an injury of some kind. Yeah. He hadn't been pitching well. It just why would they send down Braxton Garrett for the relative slot they have to replace him if it's not Thomas White. But apparently, apparently they're going to go with some slop. Jackson Merrill left after slamming into the outfield wall. He will have tests done on his back. Brandon M. O. left Wednesday with right hamstring tightness. One day or the day that I talk him up, uh, it's been the same hamstring that he's dealt with all season long. So that doesn't sound too good. Blue J's manager, John Schneider said Shane Bieber could begin a could begin pitching in rehab games by the end of next week. He'll need a full spring training. So I still think it's, you know, maybe late June or early July, something like that. 56% rostered for Bieber. Scott, what is your interest level here? Uh, it exists. Given the current state of starting pitching on the waiver wire, I think. I mean, let's see how the rehab games go. Let's see what Bieber's velocity looks. like I imagine it's going to be a pretty lengthy rehab assignment. So I don't know that you have to rush out and pick them up today. But he's supposedly healthy and he's good when he's healthy. I mean, he was good last year with the with the blue jays coming back from was a Tommy John surgery he had at the time. I believe so. So if he's healthy, if he looks like himself, then yeah, he's going to be worth picking up everywhere. I currently have Shane Bieber 90th and my starting picture rankings, which is right on the border of roster ability in most leagues. And you know, as his rehab assignment plays out, I predict that will go up. All right. Kyle Schwarber has missed three straight with an illness. Yandee Diaz was out of the lineup after getting hit by a pitch on both of his hands on Tuesday, the x-ray and CT scan both came back negative. Miguel Vargas was out of the lineup after getting hit by a pitch on his hand on Tuesday x-rays negative there from Miguel Vargas. An MRI on Mackenzie Gore's left lat came back negative and he is on track to make his next scheduled start this Sunday against the angels. Taj Bradley could rejoin at the twins rotation on Saturday. I check to see if he was dropped in leagues. He really wasn't. I think he's still 90% roster. So I can't tell you to add him. He's still rostered by most people and should be because he was pitching really well before he got hurt. Jonah Ton was a healthy scratch from his scheduled start Wednesday at AAA. And it looks like he might get called up to start Thursday. No, I think David Peterson. I saw David Peterson scheduled. So he got scratched regardless. It was a healthy scratch, not injury related. So perhaps they are thinking about giving Jonah Tong a spot in the rotation. He has pitched really poorly in the miners this season. Do you have any interest at all? Scott and Jonah Tong. Well, if he's not coming up now. Even if he was it was if he was a healthy scratch. I mean, maybe I don't know. This probably happened before Zach Thornton came up and pitched, but he did not pitch well. So right. Right. And look, Tong is interesting, but I apparently he's been having some mechanical issues at AAA. I read the other day. So it's less interesting than Tom is white, I would say. The possibility of Tong getting called up. And I think the possibility is probably even less likely, not that it was especially likely for white, but it's even less likely in Tong's case, even more reasons for doubt, for doubt about his performance because he was bad during his time in the majors last year. So it would have to be a pretty deep league and desperate situation as far as pitching goes for me to consider adding Jonah Tong right now. Brented Doyle is day to day with a left oblique contusion. And it's worth monitoring because if he goes on the aisle, that would open up the possibility for prospect, outfield prospect, cold carrot, getting the call. And I know he's someone that we've been hyping up on the prospects on the verge there. So just a situation to watch there with Brent and Doyle chase. Dolan will be shut down from throwing for the next two to three weeks. He's on the aisle with that right elbow sprain and Jose Boreos underwent Tommy John surgery. He will miss the rest of this season and probably a large chunk of next season as well. Scott, let's do a little bit of a temperature check and check in to see how we value some of these guys rest of season. And first up is CJ Abrams who continues his monster year. He went two for four with his 10th home run, three RBI. He is hitting 300. He has 32 runs, 42 RBI, seven steals, a 928 OPS. Underlying numbers look really good too. He's hitting the ball hard. The expected stats like it a lot as well. It's a new regime. So you kind of want to give him the benefit of the doubt. But at the same time, we have seen these month long or even half of season long stretches where CJ Abrams just kind of falls off the face of the earth. So do we dare move him ahead of main stays at shortstop like trade turner or Gunnar Henderson? So I will tell you that last year, CJ Abrams said 257, 19 home runs, 31 steals. The year before 246, 20 home runs, 31 steals. The year before 245, 18 home runs, 47 steals. So quite a few more steals that year. But you get what I'm pointing at, right? Like he has been the exact same player three years in a row. And part of that is hot starts. Like his first half for his career, he's a 269 hitter with a 792 OPS in the first half versus 230 with a 649 OPS in the second half. So this fits right in with the pattern for CJ Abrams. My bold prediction is he hits about 250 with 20 home runs and 30 steals this year. That's why I'm thinking he's going to happen. And you know, digging into the numbers hitting the ball about as hard as usual, striking out about as much as usual, walking more. That's nice. Pull air raid about the same as usual. A lot of it looks the same for Abrams. A lot of it does. Can you move them ahead of trade turner? Yeah, I have done that. I've moved them ahead of turner because I think turners upside is only so high at this stage of his career. And at the very least, Abrams should command a lot more in a trade than turner should right now. So I went ahead and made that move. I have not moved Abrams ahead of Henderson. I have concerns about Henderson, but I don't want to look stupid when he gets back to performing like a first rounder, which I still think is a very likely scenario. And I just don't think Abrams has that kind of upside. So I'm skeptical of Abrams taking an extra leap this year to sum up, but he's pretty good. And if you consider I'm a top five shortstop right now, I couldn't exactly disagree. It's kind of weird how shortstop broken down this year actually because a lot of the others in that beyond beyond the round one to range. So let's say the round three through eight range of drafts. A lot of those guys have stunk so far, you know, turner, mooky bats has been injured. But he hasn't been good. He's been healthy. Cory Seeger, Bo Pechette, Neto hasn't been as good. Neto has been probably the best among them, but not as good. So it's that that's part of what makes it easier to move Abrams up to even though I have doubts that he's actually made a leap. Yeah, I think I mostly agree with that. The only I guess pushback I would have. And there's no way for me to quantify this or know it. It's just that there's again, there's a new regime there. It's all, you know, guys my age that are, you know, super analytically driven. And so far, like him and James Wood, they're two most talented hitters on the team are off to these tremendous starts. So I'm just wondering if maybe this new, you know, front office and coaching staff has found something that they that they've pulled out of both of those guys and we're just, we're getting the best versions of them that we've ever seen before. I feel like we'd see it in the data. I guess a higher barrel rate for CJA rooms if you want to, but I've always been skeptical of the stickiness of that anyway. I kind of feel like it, it's often an indicator of how hot a hitter is. And yeah. And plus again, James Wood and CJA rooms got off to tremendous starts last year, too. Yeah. No, that's totally fair. Let's talk about Randy Eros Arena who had a huge game, one for two with a walk, a sock and two shoes. He's up to five home runs. He's hitting 302 36 runs scored 14 steals, eight 60 OPS contract year Randy. How about that? I moved them up to my 15th ranked Alfielder in Roto in 16th and head Ted points. Does that sound spot on Scott? Yeah, I feel breaks down similarly to shortstop in that for the most part, the guys you drafted very early have been as good as they should be more or less. And then that second tier has been pretty awful by and large and yet they have the sort of track record that makes you want to stick with them. But they've been pretty awful for the most part and Eros Arena is an exception. So he is up to 14th for me in Roto and probably not that different in points. And yeah, that doesn't mean I think he's going to hit 302 all season. I would bet against that. Probably it's going to sink to at least 260. But power speed should be there. And with that 260, it'll be good enough. And I know for some people listening, if they look at the stat cast metrics and the expected stats, you'll look at that page and it will look terrible for Randy Eros Arena. But it's pretty much always look terrible for his career, but he just finds ways to outperform his underlying metrics. So kind of in the way that Jose Altove has done his entire career. So I really just don't put too much stock into it. I think Randy Eros Arena is just a really good athlete that outperforms what is expected of him according to stack. So I just I don't really worry about that stuff too much with him. Austin Riley was dropped to 7th in the Braves lineup and he responded with his eighth home run of the season. I know he slowed down over the past week or so, thus dropping to 7th in the lineup. But overall his May has looked pretty solid. He's hitting 254 with 5th. homeers 14 RBI one steel and 808 OPS in the month also comes with a 32% shriker rate. So we've talked about Austin Riley a few times. Scott he's a he's a bit of a tough one to figure out because he's you know the numbers have been down the past couple of years they're downing in this year. But also there's there's not a lot of great options at third base that are just begging to jump ahead of him. So what's your evaluation of Austin Riley right now? Yeah I think in the long run you're going to be happy you drafted him. I think he's going to get raging hot midseason because that's pretty much what he always does. And part of the reason why it's been a two year trend of him underachieving is well the first of those two years he missed that midseason hot stretch because he got hurt during it. And so the numbers didn't have a chance to normalize. He had started to get raging hot but then he got hurt and so we didn't get the full recovery of the statistics. Last year was a down year. There's not really a good excuse for that. But I think from a 29 year old with his track record and under the hood a lot of the stuff still looks the same. The exit velocities are down a little bit this year but that sometimes just comes along with struggling. Yeah I think in the long run he's going to be fine and you know maybe he won't hit 280 to 90 like he did for that three year stretch when he was an infee like a perennial MVP candidate. Maybe it'll be more like 252 60 but I think he'll get you around 30 homers and the RBI that go with it. I have at least thought about moving Max Muncie and Kevin McGonigal ahead of him. I just haven't I haven't been able to pull the trigger on those two. I don't know if you've thought about it at all. Let me see. I haven't gone to third base in today's update because well I did starting pitcher and that's like half the process. I usually work backwards now so I start with relievers then I do pitchers then I do outfielders and then on Thursday I usually do all the infealers so. Yeah infields of breeze after you get past started pitcher and outfield. Yeah I have not made the move to put Max Muncie and who was the other one you mentioned. Kevin McGonigal. Kevin McGonigal. Yeah I have not moved them ahead of Riley. I don't think it's crazy. I think that's a pretty bunchy stretch of the rankings. You got Riley there. My kehl Garcia Boba-Shet Kevin McGonigal Max Muncie. Those five I could rank them in almost any order. Probably want to put Boba-Shet at the top but for the most part any order. All right let's continue on with our temperature check here. Tanner Bobby pitched very well at the Tigers eight innings of one run ball with five strikeouts but only had eight whips on 104 pitches. Still allowed eight hard hits in this game. The one thing that really stood out to me his fastball had three more inches of induced vertical break 19 inches in the start. It was 16 entering and that fastball did have four whips. He also threw the fastball a lot more. He used his cutter and change up less which is typically not what we want to see from Tanner Bobby. He's got a 375 year a 125 whip. He's pitched better as of late. Where are you on Tanner Bobby right now? I mean pretty skeptical. He has been pitching well in terms of he's prevented runs from scoring. Let me see I made a point to write down the numbers. Yeah last seven games for Tanner Bobby, 250 90 R.A 108 whips 7.3 K per 9. Still not getting strikeouts here. Yeah that third number it's like well how are you going to sustain a 250 90 R.A. and 108 with if you have 7.3 strikeouts per 9 innings that that's mathematically very unlikely. You pretty much have to be a fly ball pitcher who gives up very weak contact and Tanner Bobby does not give up very weak contact and isn't that much of a fly ball pitcher even. Well I guess maybe it's slightly a fly ball pitcher but yeah it doesn't really work out. He still issues too many walks. Two that rate is now 3.2 per 9 and the ERA estimators pretty much have him in the high three's low fours which is exactly where his full season ERA is. So it's a good stretch for a by-be but he's not really winning the over. Yeah it feels pretty fringy. He is only 51% started on CBS. It looks like he is in line for two starts next week. One against the nationals, one against the red socks. Kind of jekyll and hide matchups. The nationals lineup just continues to hit. They are much better against lefties and they are righties but 51% started that that feels low. I think that number should be a lot higher. Like if you have Tanner Bobby on your team I think you should probably use him next week with those matchups. As the two start pitcher yeah I think I'll be used a lot. All right let's talk about Connolly early who turned in a quality start at the Royal six in a third innings three runs five strikeouts to one walk two homers allowed in this one 13 whiffs on 93 pitches and that's a really good sign because the swinging strike rate has been way down for Connolly early so far this season. He's still allowed 11 hard hits in this game and I know if you dig in Scott there's really not much under the hood that should give you confidence that Connolly early is one of those breakout pitchers that maybe we thought he could be but I'm keeping the faith man. I still think that there's a lot of talent here. I know what we saw last season was a very small sample size but really good minor league numbers and I think the underlying stuff is going to start to level out and catch up to his actual numbers. I still have a lot of faith in Connolly early. He does seem to be on a better trend now. I'm not sure it is such a dominant stretch here three starts with two on runs or fewer 19 strikeouts in 18 to the third innings during that time. I'm not sure it's so impressive that it's like yeah I'm fully back on board with Connolly early but I'm I'm cautiously optimistic I would say and I think it probably is rostered in all leagues already. Yeah. Anti deserves to be. All right. Let's let's check in and see where we are at. You have Connolly early at sp 60 and I have met sp 62 so there you go. You know we were talking beforehand and we had so many pitchers lined up in very similar spots and we never talk about where we move pitchers to in the rankings. It's just I think we've just podcasted together for too long now and it's they're kind of simpatic on a lot of rankings now. Or it's or it's kind of easier than you would think to see how these guys should stack up. Like maybe we just evaluate them the same way is probably the better way of putting that because I know somebody like Nick Pollock he comes out with starting pitcher rankings and they look like they're from a distant land. But for the most part I would say there's a lot of consensus in how to value players in fantasy among the the analyst class which is why it's so hard to make trades these days these days. And it's been going on for like probably since since stack has was widely accepted which is a long time now which means I'm dating myself and using terms like these days. All right before we hit our final break Scott if you need a longer break just let me know for those watching you might be able to tell Scott is using the standing part of his tending test today. Yeah for those listening you might obviously you don't see it but yeah it's got to happen around if you if you need a longer break just let me know you know you could just hop on down for 30 seconds and rest legs. The background may shift a little bit while we're we're in a break here we'll see we'll put my uplift desk to the test see how quickly it lowers because yeah I could I can stand to rest my feet at this point the old dogs are barking. All right so do you want me to play a longer add so they can lower your. Yeah it's okay. All right it's it's the push of a button. All right let's take that break and we'll be back right after this. Welcome back in fantasy baseball today and just like that Scott is sitting. I am. I am so I messed up and bumped the desk as it was lowering and so it stopped lowering and so I barely got it done in time. I think it worked out. Fortunately didn't bump the bookcase behind me and knock all the starting line up figures down. That's always a possibility. Let's continue on here. We've got hitters who are trending up. I think a lot of these we can kind of breeze through just want to make mention there are a few I'll ask you about but Wonsoto only a matter of time he is on fire two for four with a double dong last seven games. He is hitting four 29 with five homers and three steals. He's Wonsoto. He's back. He's healthy. He looks awesome. Pio Lonzo. He went two for four with his ninth home run. He has looked a lot more like himself in May hitting 274 with five homers 15 RBI and 864 OPS so far in the month the underlying numbers. I mean the season long numbers are still lagging behind because April was so bad. But Scott do you still have just the most confidence that Pio Lonzo will just be fine rest of season. Never one's worried about Pio Lonzo. All right and the same can be said for Katel Marte we heard your thoughts about him yesterday. He is eating up three for three with a walk and his seventh home run. He is homer than back to back games and over his last six he has 10 hits two homers eight runs seven RBI again overall season long numbers still lagging behind but you know he's he starts and heat up here. Sal Stewart. He's bouncing back. He did have that stretch in two, three week stretch where, you know, he, he slowed down quite a bit, but I know Chris mentioned this a lot. He likes to see a breakout player get off to a great start. Alrighty, struggles. Does he bounce back? We're seeing that right now from Sal Stewart. Four for five with his 12th home run and over his last four games. He has nine hits and two homers. The overall numbers are just bonkers. He's hitting 265, 12 homers. Great counting stats. 10 steals, 856 OPS. Have you thought at all? Scott, maybe you've done this. I didn't check your first base rankings. Have you thought at all about moving him ahead of other established names? Like Rafael Devers, Josh Nailer, Freddie Freeman, or even a third base moving him ahead of someone like maybe Machado, who's off to a really bad start? Oh, I'm, I moved him ahead of Rafael Devers and Josh Nailer weeks ago. I moved him ahead of Freddie Freeman more recently. Yeah, than that, but he's already there. At third base, have I moved him ahead of Machado? Not yet, but maybe I should, I mean, if I moved him ahead of Freeman, I probably should move him ahead of Machado. So that's something I'll be doing. Now he's eligible. Sal Stewart at second base also. It's actually harder to, harder for him to break into the top four there. I think he's going to end up ranking higher at third base and second base for me. Interestingly enough, or is it interesting? Maybe it's boring. We're getting to that point in the season. I know you say this every year. It's got that you kind of give the season until Memorial Day until you start making more drastic changes or or valuation ideas on certain players. And we're, we're basically at that point. So yeah, that makes sense to do itself Stewart. I mean, yeah, generally Memorial Day, the season started so early this year that I think that that actually happened last week. I made the biggest changes to my rankings last week. Then I'm probably going to make all year in one sitting. But you know, even even more, even more could come, look, I moved Jacob Mizorowski into my top 10 today. I can learn. I can grow. I can change. I love it. Let's look at Samuel Basayo, who went two for four with his seventh home run over his last 20 games. I didn't realize he is hitting three 70 with four homers and OPS over a thousand crushing the ball 92.8 average ex of velocity during that stretch. The one thing that's holding him back, he's only started against four of 14 lefties this year. He has played against every righty except one since April 10th. So he basically plays every day against righties. But the thing that holds Basayo back so far, Scott is just he's not in every day player, which is a little frustrating. But he's whenever he plays, he's been hitting really well. So yeah, I think he's trending the right direction. It seems like every other day, you want to ask me if I'm willing to move some catcher ahead of Basayo. And for the most part, I say no. The playing time has been an issue. But I would imagine as he continues to heat up, that'll change. He can he can grow and change too. And he obviously has been doing that in his last 20 games. Look like the prospect he should be the 93 mile per hour average ex of velocity during that time. I have him 11th currently, Samuel Basayo. I did move Liam Hicks ahead of him. But I think Basayo has more upside. It's just Hicks has I think Hicks has a very high floor at this point. He's he's overachieving, but the floor is very high. And the last name on this list, Salvador Perez, he is showing some signs here. Three for four with his eighth home run last nine games. He's hitting 303 with three homeers. The expected stats though, they they remain way down his average ex of velocity is down almost two miles per hour, the barrel rate, the bat speed is down as well. So father time is undefeated. And Salvador Perez is getting up there and eight. So I'm happy to see that he's coming around, but it we'll see where it goes. I'm not so sure that he will bounce all the way back to the player we expected him to be coming season like a 25 to 30 home run guy. Yeah, I have my doubts too. But it wouldn't surprise me if he did, you know, I've been a little reluctant to just bury Salvador Perez in my range. I moved it out some more than you guys actually looking at it. Yeah, I didn't update again. I didn't update infield yet, but I think I'll probably move Hicks and Basayo ahead of him. And that will that'll move Perez down to 12th. So I'll move down a little bit. Yeah, I have Jensen ahead of him too. I probably should switch that. I think I'd rather have Perez than Jensen at this point. Jensen with the strikeouts has been part of the disappointment there. All right, let's harder Jensen. Let's get into. Weaver wire hitters from Wednesday's action. Brandon Marsh went to for four with his fourth stolen base only out there in a third of CBS leagues. He's already 70% rostered. He has started against every right hander, but to this season. And he has started against 13 of 19 lefties. He's close to an everyday player. He's hitting 325. Do you think he just needs to be universally rosy? It's got three outfielder leagues as well for Brandon Marsh. Let's see. It's probably it's been a couple weeks since I've looked at Brandon Marsh. And I'd be interested in seeing. So he did sit against the last lefty they faced. But for the most parties played every day. He did start against a lefty to day in Andrew. So the second to the last lefty he faced. He's been around a while and obviously he hasn't amounted to much in fantasy. But if the strikeout rate is far better than it's ever been, just a couple years ago he was 32% now. He's like 21%. And there was kind of an intermediate step in between where I drop it. I just wait out now. So on the opposite end of the spectrum with the strike out right playing against left handers now. I mean, we know he has some power. He has some speed. I don't I don't think I don't think he is close to being must roster in a three outfielder league. But he's at least in the discussion, which is a huge development for Brandon Marsh given the player he had come to be in fantasy prior to this year. Yeah. The problem is he's still on pace for only like 15 15. So it's a really good batting average and he's made strides this year. And obviously the OPS over 800. But even with all that, it's still just 2.6 fantasy points per game. So those are most of the shallow leagues we talk about. You know, 12 team head to points leagues. Only three outfielders. I don't see what would have changed to make him be rate as a lesser power. I understand he hasn't delivered the power and you wonder is there a trade off there making more contact for less power? Swing speed is the same average swing speed fast swing rate is actually a little better. Eggs of velocity average is down a little. But again, if you're if the swing speed is there, I would imagine that's going to catch up. Pull air rate very typical for for Brandon Marsh. So I do think if he if he sustains those other aspects with the strikeouts and everything, like I do think more power will calm. But you're right. It hasn't yet. Casey Schmidt speaking of power. He hit another home run. His ninth of the season. He has started nine of the past 11 games for the Giants. He's hitting two 93. He's got a 866 OPS 69% rostered. Where would you put Casey Schmidt among. You know, that multi eligible group we've been talking about. Ezekiel Doran, Zach Lof McGell and Duhar is he at the top of that group is probably at the top of that group. Yeah, I would say he's at the top of that group. I think so. I read on that stack has page for Casey Schmidt. I just wish that he truly played every day. And I think it's kind of trending that way. But he's probably still going to get a day off here and there just because they're trying to work in other people and you know, Bryce Eldridge is one of their young prized assets in the organization and he's barely playing. So you know, they got to find a way to make all this work. And that probably means Casey Schmidt sits out every I don't know fourth or fifth game or something like that. But when he's played, he's been really good. And his stack has stuff. The expected stats look really good for Casey Schmidt. Jake burger. He might be ready for one of those streaks. He might be I don't know on one of those streaks right now. He hit his ninth home run over his last eight games. He's hitting 448 with three homers 12 RBI. We've seen this in the past. Got where you know, Jake burger gets hot and he can hit, you know, eight to 10 home runs in a month spend. He's 40% roster. He's got seven home games next week. Would you be looking to re add Jake burger if he was dropped anywhere? Not anywhere. I mean, points leagues. There's no reason to bother with Jake burger unless you're just in desperate spot and need a hot hand. He's probably if he stays healthy going to hit 30 homers this year. I feel pretty comfortable saying that now it'll be with some really dry spells in there where you're not sure. You're not sure if you can keep them in your lineup. And therefore you might miss out on a chunk of those 30 home runs he hits, but it'll probably hit 30 homers. I have two deeper names here. Victor Karatini hit his second home run. This is just a deep two catcher league play here. If you lost Ryan Jeffers or Drake Baldwin, someone like that. Jake McCarthy is the other name and he's been hitting very well. Two for five with a triple at his ninth stolen base. Last 22 games. He's hitting 359, two homers, 15 RBI, four steals, an OPS up near a thousand. And he's been playing more too. Since April 22nd, he started against 14 of 16 Rides and against four of their last five lefties. So I don't know, Skyny, deeper interest in Jake McCarthy is only 19% rostered. Yeah, deep interest there. I mean, he's somebody who used to matter in fantasy. He's playing in Coresfield now. He contributes in stolen bases and there were years where he was a good source of batting average when he was in Arizona. And so it's not a stretch to think he could be in Colorado. There's a playing time question for sure, but it's gotten better lately, as you say. So I think McCarthy's in the discussion. I would put him behind somebody like Brandon Marsh, but he's in the discussion. All right, let's slide over to the waiver wire pitchers. And I have two shallow league names here. Merrill Kelly, a quality starting against a giant six innings, three runs, four strike outs to zero walks. He was brutal for his first four starts, but over his last three, it's a 205 ERA, a 0.81 whip. We just need some more strike outs there from Merrill Kelly. Looks like he lines up for two starts next week as well. And Andrew Abbott at the Phillies, five in a third innings, two runs, one of those earned three walks to three strike outs. Did it get 13 whiffs on 96 pitches? The velocity was up a little bit here. And over his last five starts, 129 ERA, 114 whip. I just, I've always had a hard time buying into Andrew Abbott. And I still am kind of having a hard time. He is 70% rostered. He is at the meds next week. Who do you like between these two? Scott Merrill Kelly or Andrew Abbott? So they are both pitchers. Who I have confidence in. Like I probably value Andrew Abbott and Merrill Kelly more than the consensus does, but it's mostly based on true. It's more based on track record than what they've done here recently. Because yeah, Andrew Abbott, after a really rough start, he appears to have turned things around. Last five starts, all of them good, 4-0 record during that stretch, which helps a lot in fantasy. But 4.2 walks per 9, 6.1 Ks per 9 during the good stretch. That's not good. Like he can't continue that. I don't think he will continue with such a low strikeout rate and such a high wall grade because that's not what the track record suggests he is. And Merrill Kelly, I mean, he's getting older. He's pretty old now at this point. So it could be that the strikeouts just dry up and that would be a problem for him. But obviously, it's an even smaller sample of starts we're dealing with from him this season. So even more reason to kind of dismiss some of the unusual numbers as just early season noise for Merrill Kelly. And so that's what I'm inclined to do for the most part. I will note that his three good starts here were all pretty favorable matchups. San Francisco here on Wednesday. That's as favorable as a matchup gets right now. The previous start was against the Rockies in Colorado, but a lot of times we've seen pictures have great starts even at Colorado just because the lineup is so questionable. And then the start before that was the Mets who particularly back then were pretty brutal team offensively. So that's helped to bolster Kelly's numbers of the last three starts still in the long run. I think you're going to want to be invested in him because the track record is just so strong. And again, next week at the Giants at the Mariners, it looks like for Merrill Kelly. So that's a pretty good two step there for for Merrill Kelly next week. We have a spark alert Stephen Matt's returned from the aisle with a solid outing against the Orioles for innings one run five strikeouts needs to get built back up a little bit for the most parties pitched OK this year three 70 year a one 11 whip. Looks like he is at the Orioles next week and Carmen Majinsky. He was at the Cardinals five shut out innings. One walk one strike out his strikeouts are down a little bit, especially recently as two strikeouts are less than three straight, but his K rate overall is pretty similar to last year. Looks like Majinsky might line up for two next week against the Cubs and the twins. Do you like either of these two as a as a spark and head to point sleeves Max and Majinsky? I really don't I really don't and I'd rather not have to go into it more than that. I mean, just look at the numbers aside from the ERA. They're not very good. All right. Well, we got a good revenge game from Shane Boz at the raise six innings one run six strike outs to three walks. It dig a little bit deeper only seven whiffs on 94 pitches here. Still loud some hard contacts. I think we need to see a lot more. I think we're kind of in a similar place with Shane Boz and Andrew Painter. It's it's more clearly it's more clear to see how it works for painter. Like we just know he needs to throw his secondary pitches more than his fastball. I'm not sure exactly what Shane Boz needs to do, but good start here. I don't think there's much Shane Boz can do. I don't know and I don't know that that for painter throwing the secondaries more. I don't know that that'll be a fix. I just think it's worth trying at this point because he has enough of those that rate well that it could work. I don't I don't really see what the path to success for Boz is anymore. Unfortunately, I haven't for very cheap in the scot wide dynasty league had him stashed in a minor league spot for a long time. So I really wanted to work out. But I don't I don't think it's going to at this point. He's already gotten the change of scenery and nothing's gotten much better. And the rays of all teams gave up on him. What does that say? Yep. He does line up for two starts next week against the rays and blue days. I don't I don't see any situation where I would want to use Shane Boz in those matchups next week. Zach Thornton the Metz prospect made his debut. He was not very good. Four and a third innings. Four hits. Four runs. Two walks three strikeouts. I'm going to see how he would do. And if there's anything here and I am not inclined to make any type of moves here on Zach Thornton. What about a drop? Are we are we okay? Are we in the clear scot to drop? Aranola who allowed four runs over five innings eight more hits. His ERA is up to 604. He has a 156 whip. Still over a strikeout for inning 375 X5. But I don't know man. He's been pretty bad over the past two years. He's 72% rostered. Kind of feel like that number should be lower. Yeah. I've been in favor of him being widely dropped for quite some time now. Looking up exactly where I rank Aranola. Because I am giving him a slight amount of credit for his history. But even with that he's 100 third for me. I think that would be pretty similar for me as well. I have him. One away. So there you go. Clower spot on. Once again, here's guy. It was a good day for aces. We got Chris sale with a big start at the Marlin seven innings of one run ball. H strikeouts zero walks. 18 whiffs on 96 pitches. He's just been money. 89 ERA. 0.87 whip just so consistent. One earn runner fewer in eight of 10 starts. A quality start in nine of 10 outings this year for Chris sale. And Joe Ryan. He was great against the Astros six innings one run nine strikeouts as zero walks 19 whiffs on 99 pitches. He left with that elbow scare on May 3rd in three starts since he has a 150 ERA a point 70 whip 21 strikeouts to four walks over 18 innings. So I think Joe Ryan is just fine. Well, him and Chris sale. I think you're just fine. And you know what? I the way he said that made me think of Terminator to I love that movie. No, you don't. You would though because it's one of the best movies ever. Wolfies just fine dear. Anyway, I was I had this thought earlier today about Cam Schlippler. Remember there was the freak out this spring about Cam Schlippler. And well, what was it he was he was dealing with something arm related. I think it was upper back tightness or like a lot or something like that. I think it was related to a lot. Yeah. And there was a stretch of a couple weeks there where his his stock was cratering. And I know I know I got him in a couple of weeks because of that. I. Yeah, I guess it's just I guess the only point in bringing that up because you bring it up with Joe Ryan is like not every injury even for a picture is you know doom for his season. It's not and I think there's this such an aversion to it in the fantasy world. right now that it makes people do some loopy things. And part of it I understand because last year, maybe the last couple years, but last year especially I remember, it just seemed like guys would get hurt and not get better. It was the most bizarre thing. I think I have some perspective on this and it just seems so unusual for that okay a guy gets hurt. Usually he's given a timetable and after that amount of time he's back and he's the same guy he's always been and that just wasn't happening. And so I think it's made people a little little more squeamish than ever about injuries. But I don't know. I don't know if that's actionable advice. It's it's it's I guess just my way of reminding you to kind of chill a little bit. Don't be so high strong about the injuries. All right some other pitching left over. Shohei O'Connor finally did not go six innings but he did shut out the Padres five shut out innings with four strikeouts for him. Oh and he was back to hitting while pitching and he let off the game with a home run. So just doing Shohei O'Connor things. Michael Waka was great against the Red Sox. Six innings two runs one earned with eight strike outs to two walks. He had 16 whiffs on 105 pitches. He has a quality start in eight of 10 starts this year. He's just Michael Waka is so valuable and a head to the point league or a category's league where quality starts are a category. He's just he's really good in those formats. And we do have a regression alert. Michael McGreevy. He did take that step back that we were warning people of against the pirates five innings. Ten hits allowed three runs. Wasn't a disastrous outing but look his whip was over two in this one. He allowed 12 hard hits. He just does not miss bats and he gives up a lot of hard contact. And so there there will be more starts like this coming for Michael McGreevy. Anything to add to him. Michael Waka or Shohei O'Connor the pitcher or Michael Waka. Michael Waka is good in a quality start league. I would say historically he's been underrated in a quality start league. He's not this good. You know there there is going to be some regression here. His ERA is 270. Now that's a run to a run and a half lower than all the ERA estimators. Which you know you had a run to 270 370 for a guy who eats innings. It's still pretty good. He's still going to be valuable enough in a quality start league. But I this I know it's gone on so long that you just trust it's going to last forever. It's not he's going to have a rough stretch here that I'm going to say I'm going to make a prediction right now. Michael Waka has an ERA over 340. I feel confident enough and it could be even higher by the end of season by the end of season. Yeah. Gotcha. So you would probably consider him a pretty clear sell high candidate if you can even do that. Sure. I would say so. I mean historically in a 12 team context he's been pretty fringy. I want to see where he ranks right now. Yeah. Looks like I have points league rankings pulled up here. Season to date rankings. And he's 14th among starting pitchers prior to going tonight. Yeah. I would say that's the sell high candidate. All right. So I'm hitting leftovers. Trade Turner with a nice game. One for two with two walks and two steals. Chase the lottery showing off the wheels two for four with a walk and two steals for him the first two of his career. He's quietly been really good. I know he got off to that awesome star with like the five home runs. He hasn't hit for much power since then. But he has a 361 on base percentage 30 RBI 831 OPS. He's just been really good as a hitter so far. And Jaren Durin. Another big game. Hopefully he can build on it two for five with a triple and his six home run over his last two. He's got two homers five RBI and a steal. He has multiple hits in three of his last four again. That was Jaren Durin call to the bullpen for the raise with Brian Baker unavailable Ian C more picked up his second save for the twins. Andrew Morris picked up his first save. The twins do not have a closer and they never will ever again for the Rockies. Antonio sends a teller through two clean innings across across the seventh and eighth. He picked up his second hold. Although I guess I don't know. Do you get a hold if you don't win the game. Maybe he didn't get a hold. I thought I'd ready to get a hold. I don't know. Brennan Bernardino started the ninth inning. He allowed two hits. Another batter reached on an error and it was Juan Mahio came in with the bases loaded. He allowed two runs in the Rangers took the lead. And then on the other side, it was Jacob Latz who threw two scoreless innings across the eighth ninth. He struck out four and picked up the win. He looks like the guy for the Rangers right now for the debax. Paul Seawold had a clean ninth inning for his 11th save for the Mariners. Andres Munoz was unavailable Jose Ferrer got the ninth with a two run lead. He allowed a solo homer but struck out three for his third save for the Tigers. Kenley Jansen got the eighth inning with a one run lead. He was facing the top of the Guardians lineup. He allowed a walk but that was it. And then it was Will Vest who got the ninth. He allowed a run on two hits. He took a second blown save and the Tigers would lose. Scott, do you think Kenley Jansen was only using the eighth inning here because it was a one run lead and they were facing the top of the lineup? Or do you think this could be more of a trend where it's like mix and matchy between him and Will Vest? You are muted, sir. I am. I don't remember hitting the mute button. Okay. Anyway, I'm not muted anymore and I'm going to say it is just a case, an extreme scenario of high leverage play that inclined AJ Hinch to go to his closer in the eighth inning. It was just the second time Kenley Jansen has entered a game in the eighth inning this year and the other time was in March. All right. For the Guardians, Kate Smith picked up his 16th save for the Angels. Kirby eights got the ninth inning with a one run lead. He instantly gave up a solo homer to Jeff McNeill. Ryan Zepherjohn pitched in the seventh inning in this one. Any idea what the Angels ballpen Scott doesn't matter. I'm leaning toward it not mattering. Ryan Zepherjohn seems like our best hope and he kind of fumbled the bag as the kids say. And then we had this Kirby eights appearance that added even more doubt. I do want to check in to see what Ben Joyce has been doing in the minors. Let's see. So far in the minors he has made four appearances. His last one came on May 7th. So that leads me to believe he's probably not healthy. Have you heard anything about Ben Joyce? No, I haven't. I mean, I thought he was close to returning last I heard. But here I hadn't looked into it in a while because I didn't write a bullpen report this week. Here is a tweet from rep Bullinger who covers the Angels Ben Joyce is at the club's complex in Arizona rehabbing his shoulder. But Suzuki wasn't sure if Joyce is playing catch again just yet. So I mean, I don't think Ben Joyce is a big deal. I don't think he's very good either, but he throws hard and everyone else in this bullpen seems kind of bad. So yeah, just just throwing darts at this point. And then for the blue jays, Louis Varlin got the ninth with a two run lead. He allowed a run but picked up his sixth save. To stream or not to stream on Thursday. I've got some new names for you Scott. We, well, Joey Cantillo, not a new name at the Tigers, Justin Megan's the pirates David Peterson at the Nationals. I don't think we like that. Kate Cavali against the Metz, Luis Severino at the Angels, Eduardo Rodriguez against the Rockies in Arizona their first game away from course field. Huh? Yeah, I did have both Kate Cavali and Eduardo Rodriguez in my weekly streamers. My my sleeper pitcher for week nine. So I think they're both good for Thursday. I'm not buying into Eduardo Rodriguez overall, but with that matchup. Yeah, I think Cavali and Rodriguez are both good streamers on Thursday. Dustin May would probably my third choice, but it's a distant third. Yeah, I do. I think I would agree with you that you were out in Cavali are at the top. I think Cantillo may and Severino are all fine. I'm not overly excited about any of them, but if you're if you're into the streaming thing and you just you want volume, sure, go for it. On Friday, we have James and Tyrone against the Astros Kyle Leahy at the Reds Connor Prelipp at the Red Sox, Chris Bassett against the Tigers Noah Cameron against the Mariners Trevor McDonald against the White Sox. Oh, Friday looks worse than Thursday. Oh, yeah. I don't want to put my name to any of these guys. Let's say Connor Prelipp at Boston seems the least likely to hurt you. I think he's solid. I'm good with that Trevor McDonald against the White Sox is probably my second choice third choice. Oh man, don't do it. Just don't do. Don't do what? I don't even know what's tempting. I was telling people don't do it. Don't do it. Don't choose a third option on Friday. I mean, I don't even really want to use options one and do to be honest. Yeah. I would agree with you. I think pre-lip in McDonald's are okay, but I would not. I really would not use anybody else on Friday. There might be other names that pop up again. I use MLB.com a lot of times and there's still a lot of TBDs. You know, when I look this up, it's like two days out. So perhaps tomorrow I'll have a few more names here for Friday. We are going to wrap there for Scott. I am Frank. Thanks as always for tuning into Fantasy Vs Ball today. Please make sure to follow and leave a five-star rating on Appalach Spotify. FAQs

Scott White moved Harrison to SP 37 after the start, but later considered raising him to SP 34. Frank Stampfl suggested he belongs around SP 33, similar to Braxton Ashcraft, due to his elite fastball and breakout potential.

Harrison's fastball has a 32% whiff rate, ranking in the 97th percentile on the PLV metric. His arm angle adjustment and dominant velocity have made it a top-tier pitch, reducing his need for a deep arsenal.

Drew Anderson is a Tigers pitcher who struck out seven over 4.2 shutout innings in his first start. He has a 52% ground ball rate, 13.7% swing strike rate, and three plus whiff pitches, making him a deep-league pickup if he sticks in the rotation.

Savage threw six shutout innings with seven strikeouts and zero walks, dominating the Yankees again. His splitter velocity returned to normal, and he has back-to-back six-inning starts, suggesting he's rounding into his pre-injury breakout form.

Bieber could begin rehab games by the end of next week and will need a full spring training, likely returning in late June or early July. He's 56% rostered and worth monitoring, as he was effective after Tommy John surgery last year.

Despite speculation that White would join the rotation after Braxton Garrett was sent down, he is not expected to be called up soon and actually went on the injured list. The Marlins are instead using other pitchers.
