Telling family I’m pregnant, gender reveal, & transition from 1 to 2
112m 11s
The host shares her recent pregnancy announcement, revealing she discovered the news before her husband and was shocked when he saw a simple positive test photo. She reflects on her physical and emotional struggles, including low energy, poor patience, and social fatigue, attributing these to pregnancy and her own past habits of overcommitting. She acknowledges the overwhelming pace of life, with numerous baby-related tasks and social events creating stress, yet she remains hopeful that the experience will be meaningful despite the challenges. The conversation expands to include a disturbing true crime case about a woman who faked a pregnancy and murdered her friend and unborn child, which deeply impacts the hosts due to its brutality and the sense of betrayal it represents. They also share personal moments like family trips, parenting joys, and the difficulty of managing social expectations. Throughout, the tone is balanced—humorous, raw, and reflective—highlighting both the excitement and emotional toll of motherhood. The episode concludes with a heartfelt emphasis on vulnerability, self-awareness, and the importance of supporting one another through life’s big transitions.
- I'm pregnant! (cheering) - We found out before your husband. - That thought I was announcing it to you guys. - He comes in recording. - Yes. - You're all like, "Huh?" - I should remember feeling for so long. I was like, "How irresponsible of me." I made these children, I like one of these children, and I literally can't do it by myself. I think I lacked a lot of confidence that I had. - I got low E and low P. - So low energy, low P, low patient. (laughing) - That's so hot. - Yeah. - I'm like, "Get in your car seat now!" (laughing) (upbeat music) - Welcome back to Always Here! We're your host Abby Howard. - And Abby Howard. - Wow, we're diving in. - Diving in? - I thought we haven't talked in so long 'cause we kinda didn't. - I know. - We didn't. - But then it's next coming month. We're gonna talk too much, probably. - I did talk to you yesterday. - No, I guess we talked, but on-- - There's other people over there. - Yeah, on the podcast. Where our social calendars for the next six weeks are booked and busy, baby. - I'm scared. - I'm a little overwhelmed. - I'm scared. - Every day there's a new thing. I'm like, "Oh, yes, yes, I wanna do that." Whoa, another thing. - But, adding up. - Yeah, that'd be fun. - That's good. - You think it'll help your last few weeks a pregnancy fly by or you think it'll be worse because you'll feel how tired you are. - Hmm. (laughing) - It's very good, it's good. - Hmm. - I don't know, I think. - Both. - Both. - Yeah. - Yeah, but. - Wow. (laughing) - You're like, I can't even think about it. - There's like so much going on. I'm like, just take it day by day. - Day by day. - Day by day. - Mm hmm. - So then I'm like, I don't know if I want it to fly by because I'm like, there is so much to be done. - Sure. - But I'm like, I do want it to be here, you know? - Right. - It's not like everyone has right before they have a baby. - Totally, I know. I know we'll talk about more stuff later, but I'm curious about your nasty mode and all that. - I want to know all about it. - Well, we are here to share the hope in the heart with heart and humor. And so let's share our hearts first. - Sure. - Okay, we can end on a high note. - Yeah. - My heart is kind of, I got low E and low P. Low E, so low energy, low P, low patient. (laughing) - It was probably caused by low E, but it's also in, it's also inducing like, low social battery too. And like, I feel myself being like, I want to be fun in like, I want to talk. And then there's this other part of me that's like, you don't have the capacity. - Right. - And if I have it, I want to give it to my kids. So then it causes guilt. So I'm just like, so tired. And I'm like, I just slept, like I just woke up. The day is fresh. (laughing) And then I'm like, dragging. And then we go like, hang out with the kids. And I'm like, I feel like I'm just like, not that patient with them. Which is something I feel like I wasn't, I didn't struggle with as much, which I was like prideful about in a way. Like I was like, ah, I, they're kids. Like I felt like I understand the numb. I'm like, ah, I just hurry up. Like go faster, especially cause it's so hot. I think that's what induces the most lack of patience in me. I'm like, get in your car, see? - Wow. - The speed that toddlers move. - So many distractions. - So hard sometimes. I'm like, I want my shooter, I want my ball. I want my, I'm like, you don't need it. - It's a hundred and tens. It's so hot. - You come a dragon, I'm like, get in your seat. - And then they're like, relate mom. And because it's, I think I say that all the time. I'm like, I'm literally stressing them out too. Just because I'm just so impatient. But I gotta try to work on that. But gosh, it's a little hard. And then it carries on to like, I'm, I'm hanging out with friends. I'm like, I really want to be here like with them. - Yeah. - But I just think I just need to be here. - Right. - And just like sitting in here. - Yeah. - Like I feel like people are probably like, why is Abby not like me anymore? - No. - I love you guys. I love you so much. Just have low E and low P and low social battery. - Sure. - Which is a little concerning, cause we have a lot of social events coming up. So I'm like, what do I do about that? - You're just happy to survive. No, you'll be fine. You'll be fine. - I think everyone knows. I mean, I think that's just expected of pregnant women. - Cause I also have this quality about me where if I don't have the energy, I just don't. - I had to learn that. - True. - Yeah, yeah. I used to be like, oh, I think Abby's like upset. - Yeah, and I think I caused that with a lot of people. And I'm like, man, I feel so bad. - You just gotta say it loud. Sorry, I'm just tired. - Just say I'm tired. - Yeah. - Cause like, what do I do? I just like, go silent. - Yeah, you just go quiet. And then it's like, oh, she's no like so chatty. - Mm-hmm. - Yeah. - I'll try to be like, yeah, it's not the way I'm tired. - I know it's so hard. Sometimes managing people's expectations. - And you just feel like a whiner. - No. - I don't want to be a whiner. - Sorry, I'm not sure. I did it today with Caitlin at Superplay because she came and sat by me while our daughters were playing. And I just wasn't saying anything. And then I was like, sorry, I'm just tired. I'm just not saying nothing. And I was like, but it's not you. (laughs) - Hey. - It's hard to. It's just. - I love being with that. - I didn't way too late watching the desk. I was two liters last three nights. So. - Oh my gosh. - You need to catch me. - Did you finish maternal length, too? - Of course. - Okay, good. - Yeah, I had to. I told Caleb his for work. He made him sit down with me. - Wait, can we just talk about that right now since it got brought up? - Well, no. - No, no. - Okay. - We gotta stick to the schedule. - Never mind. What's your heart, Abigail? - My heart is I've been nursing a knee injury and a shoulder injury and I'm just-- - Wait, really? - Yeah, it's been like three months. - You never said anything. - I do think my knee injury was a heart a couple like a while ago on the podcast. - Yeah, I know that it's still hard because I don't let it rest. You know what I mean? But every day at the gym, I'm just like, especially the shoulder ones, really painful. What happened to your shoulder? - I couldn't tell you. What happened was I think I went and wonky on the lunge when I was postpartum and my limbs were, you know, you're doing to just loose. At least mine were, loose and weak and yeah, I tweaked it. And my shoulder, I think the same. I don't know if it's on the back or the front, but I can't do chest press or like push. And I can't do pushups. It's like, literally my shoulder stops. Like there's not full. - Oh my gosh. - Something's there. I just gotta baby it until gone, but yeah, it's annoying. - Oh. - And sad. - That's a long time to have that. - I know, and I think it's gonna take a long time to heal. But it's one of those things where you, you know when you internally, you're like in your head, you're like, "I'm ready to go." And then you get up to there and then it's like, you physically have a limitation and just goes annoying. - I've never had an injury like that. - Yeah. - I'd never play sports. I don't know how to solve it. - It's just part of it. - I know. - So that's my heart. It's hard enough to get, I just pushed myself too hard before I was ready and then hurt myself. - I'm just kidding. I did injure my ankle one time. Were you the one that, what did you saw it happen? - No, it was your mom. (laughs) - I did you? - Yeah. - Do you remember I remember when you said it's true? - I had a dramatic ankle roll. - Really? - Like literally my, 'cause I'm wearing those - Yeah, the hookahs. - And I just went, "Cool, cool." And I was like, "Oh my." - Oh my. - And I just kind of froze. This is what I do when I get injured apparently. When I got hit with the golf club, just when I'm like, "Why is that an higher heart?" 'Cause it wasn't that hard compared to this energy problem. I'll take a lot of golf clubs to the eye. - Lopey and black guy. - Lopey, Lopey, black guy. - I walked in the door yesterday after Swim, and I look at him and I go, "Oh, it looks bad." And I've he looked at me and I was like, "I meant to say it doesn't look that bad." - I could understand what you were saying, but then I was like, "Oh, she's talking about my eye." - Yeah. - And I was like, "Oh, I thought it was gonna look worse." - You looked bad. That's what I said. And I was like, "Why didn't it, I didn't mean for it to come out." You don't look as bad as I thought it was gonna look. - Oh, that's what you meant. - Yeah, I meant, I thought it was gonna be worse. - Yeah, my son accidentally hit me with a golf club. I'd say golf club. It was like a putter. Is that the same thing? - Yeah, it's a club. - Okay, it's a medal. - It was heavy. - Shoot. - Why did they have those inside airy? - Yeah. - Did they have like a golf, like advertising area? - It's like their sports, the airy offline. - I would say from a distance, it just looks like you have a mascara on. Like you need it. - I actually almost said that to you yesterday before we were recording, I was like, I think you have my, I never said it 'cause then I was like, "Oh, it's your guy hit me." - Yeah. - That's what it looks like. - So I don't think it's that bad. - No, I thought it was gonna be worse. What happened was it like swung up and got me and then I just like, "Yeah, you just gotta breathe." - Oh, yeah. - Don't react. - And then I just grabbed the club, put it back. I was like, "We're leaving." - Yeah. - And then I like walk out of the store and then I was like, "There's like a shadow in my eye." And then I was like, "What is that?" And then I like reached and blood on my eyes, perfect, I think this looks wild right now. - I had one black eye in the same spot when I was in middle school. I babysat a little girl, Katherine, and I love babysitting her. And she was so excited to see me when I walked in. She jumped on me and popped me right in the eye with her head. Like minute I walked in the door, I had a black eye and I just bounced out purple eyeshadow. Seventh grade. - Seventh grade. - Seventh grade. - 17 magazine was telling me to wear it anyway. I already had the purple eyeshadow. I said, "Perfect." - Perfect. - We're just leaving it on the other side. - That's funny. - No, it wasn't a big deal. But look, it was shocking. - Yeah, it was. - That looked great. - Yeah. - A problem. I sent a picture to Matt and I said, "I just sent a picture and he called me right away." I was like, "What happened?" I was like, "He was a golf club." - Love clubs. - Love clubs incident. - Yeah. - Yeah. - My hope is that I am, I have like the biggest career project I have essentially ever worked on, that is literally so, so around the corner, a week away by the time that this goes by. - Oh my gosh, it's cool. - That it is, it's like I am feel so in over my head totally, like to be honest. But I'm also just like so ready for it to just like exist publicly, even though I'm like so scared about it because it's been such a long time coming. - Yeah. conversations first started in 2022.
then like seriously like putting things into place was over two years ago. And I never thought I would take that. You know, it's one of those things when you never think it would take that long. And then in my mind, just with the amount of time that it has taken, it is just building up and making it more nerve-wracking. - For sure, yeah, like it's not that big of a deal, but it is a big deal. - Yeah, I'm proud of, I'm so proud of the product. I'm proud of myself too, but also I am proud, but also there's been so many people that have helped it get to this point that I'm proud of all of us. Not just like me for doing this, but it's been crazy. And it's crazy the timing of it all, like transparently was supposed to be a thing in November of last year. And then series of events have occurred and that wasn't going to happen anymore. And then now I'm like, wow, it's coming right before baby. (laughing) Different type of baby, but yeah, so many big things. - I'm so excited for you. - I am excited and scared, and sweaty, but-- - That's life, that's what makes life fun. - It is crazy the timing. Adi and I were talking about when we launched, always here we kept saying like the timing's just perfect, like this is no better timing. And then now I'm retrospecting, looking back and like, we were so postpartum, grieving and postpartum, pregnant, like literally-- - Oh, it is! - Little Christmas literally? - Horrible time. - But like great time. - Never mind me. - There's never a right time. But yeah, it's funny that you got another big thing coming at another big milestone. But honestly, like, that's just how we do it. Like if you got big things coming, just keep the big things coming. - You keep them coming. - Just keep things rolling. - You never know with life, just gotta keep it rolling. - Just gotta keep it rolling. - So here we are. - Yeah, I'm so excited. Can't wait to see. Did they cut that out of the last layer of things? - I think it's been cut out of a lot of things. I just have been running my mouth and like, actually you can't do that. And I'm like, but why? - The amount of time is a big cut out. - Yeah. - I've like talked about it. And then it's like, hey, no, and I'm like, I thought I was in charge. - Right. - Isn't this my thing? - I am not in charge. (laughing) - The power is the VR. - You know what? It's good to have a team. - No, seriously. - Yeah. - It's good. Well, that's a great hope. I'm so happy for you. I feel like I am excited for the next couple of weeks and just everything that we have going on. So many birthday parties, the babies, celebrations, trips, planned. So it's just gonna be like a really fun. I think this summer overall has been amazing. And I've been really grateful with how it's been going. And I'm excited for it's headed. I just got back from a 24-hour trip to St. Louis with my family, which was really fun. I just went by myself, which was, oh my gosh, so peaceful. Like flying by yourself, 'cause even like married, you know, you're just not flying alone all the time. It was so, I was like, wow. I got a lot done on the plane. It was just wonderful. - It was just so quiet. - It's just a different experience. Like it's so fun with kids because you're cuddling them, you're playing, you're like having snacks, you're talking, you're energy's up. But then there's the flip side of it when you're by yourself. It's like, I'm reading a good book. I'm like editing stuff on my computer. I'm watching a movie, I sleep. Like it's just a different experience. So it was really fun. - Getting to choose how you spend your time. - Yes, totally. - Great. - It's a luxury. So my dad had his 50 years at his radio station and they did a big concert for him. And at the end, we got to go out and surprise him with this award from the city and a cake. And they put me in charge of bringing the cake and presenting it. This cake was really heavy. It was like a multi-tier cake, solid, like head support. - Yeah, and I'm, yeah my dad. - On it, was there on it on there? - Yes, it was a beautiful cake. So heavy. And like over six minutes, I stood out there just holding it out like this. Just sobresting on my forearm. And the backstage guys, because my dad was giving a speech and he talked for a long time. I felt like a little longer than I was expecting. It was a great speech, like it wasn't too much, but I just wasn't expecting to hold the cake that long. And the stage manager just ran off and we're like, "Oh, and the heck, was she holding that cake that long?" And he ran out and got it from me. It was heavy. But I could not drop it. - Can we wrap it up, dad? - No, but it was really fun. It was so fun seeing my family. And yeah, so I'm excited to go back in a couple weeks. - I'm always so amazed at the differences between her dad's. - Because it's not like my dad's a public figure. - Like my dad's a thought of him talking on stage. - Uh-huh. - I mean, it just simply comes back. - I know. - Well, yeah, that's funny. That's just reminding me of, we're throwing him a birthday party this weekend. He has no idea about it. He probably doesn't want to know about it. - No, he can't. - He can't. - Yeah, he doesn't want to, he literally won't show up. - No one will know that it's his birthday party, even. - That's exactly how he wants it. - Oh my gosh, it's funny. - Because he's just, I don't know how I have happy his DNA, honestly. - It's the same way for Blake. I did a surprise party for him once with his friend showing up and he was really calm, of course. - He was like, please never do this again. I was like, are you okay? - You okay? - He's like, I just didn't, I just thought we were gonna hang out with a family. I was like, well, your friends are here two hours. - I put out your friends. (laughing) - Caleb doesn't really like surprises either, and it's not that he doesn't like the surprise itself. He just has to mentally prepare for things. - Yeah, I think so. - Like he can't enjoy it if he hasn't mentally prepared. To me, that's a curse. I'm like, let me just add it. - You know what I mean? - Let me just, let me just, experience it. - That's so funny. - Yeah. - The differences. - That's really fun. - Father's Day was fun. Did you guys have a good Father's Day? - Yeah. We were traveling all day. - Yeah. - One hour drive, two hour flight, three hour layover, and then another two hour flight. I'm 30 minute drive. How was that? - It was fine. I mean, our kids are easy to travel with now, but I mean, I was like, this is hard for me. - It's not hard for me. - Certainly in my last flight. I'm not doing it again. And if someone asked me to get on a plane, I have no backbones, I might get on a plane, but I really don't think so. I'm almost 30, I mean, I'm 33. So I'm like, if someone asked me to get on a plane before 36, I'm really, it would have to be very, very dire. - Immersion, yeah. - 'Cause it was just a lot, but that was our Father's Day, but we went home and I had like little balloons and a card for Matt, and I got him like a gift, but then we had my dad over too, and we just had like something small. 'Cause I was like, I don't have the capability to do anything else, but just a small. I was like, I want to see you dad. And so that was fun, but it was just small and sweet. - Good, that's fun. We had a great weekend, we had a lot of quality time, we did the workout on Saturday, the day the kids work out. It was really cute, and CJ and Kale both had so much fun. Kale was really grateful that I signed him up for that. And then our gym that we go to had like a father. - Yeah, kids workout, it was really cute. And then we had lunch with some of our friends after at the coffee shop, which is fun. And then on actual Father's Day, I made Kale those lemon blueberry sweet rolls that are so good. - I showed them recipes, they're good. You probably make them better than me, 'cause I'm not the best at a dough, but I actually think now you have to double the filling 'cause there wasn't enough blueberry filling in it, but unbelievable. And I made them this other ambitious kitchen recipe that he requested. It's a white chicken chili pumpkin cornbread pie. - He was in the fall mood. - Yeah, that's his favorite season. Yeah, it was really fun. We walked out and shared-- - He does love pumpkin. - He does, he's a big pumpkin guy. So it was fun, we just had so much quality time, which Kale doesn't get full weekends off like that very often. - That's sweet. He felt celebrated well, which was-- - I should also say-- - All he wanted. - The reason we were traveling was 'cause we had just gone to Florida with our friends. We never talked about that, but we went on a beach trip with our friends. I'm sad that you guys weren't there. - I know. - Honestly, three families was plenty of families. - Would you do it again? - Yes, it was so fun. - Okay, good, okay. - And actually Matt was saying, he's like between Hawaii, Tahoe, and Florida, which are like the three family vacation we take recently. He's like, honestly, I think I had the best time in Florida. - Good. - And it's just fun to like be with friends and everyone has kids. And that was on my bucket list of traveling with friends. And I was like, I already want to do it again. And, but I do think the more kids you have, the less families you can have together. 'Cause I'm like, pretty soon, too, might be enough fam-muffed people, 'cause there's seven kids. So, there was a baby, a one-year-old, two two-year-olds, two three-year-olds, and a four-year-old, seven under five. And it was a pretty small house. 'Cause we wanted to stay right by the beach, and the houses are really tall, but they're like, so there's three stories, but it was just like narrow. And the volume level, a couple of times, we're like, we have to turn on a movie. (all laughing) The level is crazy in here. And, but it was so fun. It was just chaotic. There was sand everywhere. There's so much poop. I can't even explain it. Like, there was poop. There was many diapers. So many. Actually, I guess a lot of those kids are probably trained. Yeah, but they're still poop. (laughing) They're still pooping. And poop problems. Yeah, it happened. Too much poop, then there was constipation. And there was just a lot of poop happening. Yeah, funny. And it was just fun, because everyone, that was there, was like, oh, yeah, good news. Like, you know, that again. And we're like a breakdown, because of sand. Or just like, everyone just knew. And so that was fun. For sure. The kids kind of entertain each other. My kids certainly couldn't sleep, because they were just so jazzed. (laughing) And I was like, wow. Here you are again. Go back to bed. Like, we just kept, 'cause we kept talking about, we're like, please get out of here. Like, the kids go to bed. Like, the adults, the parents are gonna get to have fun. And I was like, kids go to bed at 10 p.m. Kids go to bed at 10 p.m. Everyone's exhausted, but it was fun. We played a lot of the kids. We played so much catan, so. Yeah. Well, actually the husbands play a lot of catan, and then I joined one game. Sure. And I just had to smack talk them all, because it just got really competitive. Did you win? Almost. Literally, I was gonna win the next turn. Cute. And I feel like they kind of ganged up on me, honestly. My own husband backsed at me. (laughing) I know. I was actually kind of mad. Of all people.
I was like you're kidding me right and I feel like I was about to win I literally was but well anyway, it was really fun. It was a good time good I want to go back to that area. We went to 30 a and it was so fun It did feel like I was like jumping in a pot of soup though because it was so humid and so hot I guess there's people walk out to go on a walk. I was soaking wet. I felt Florida is so good Can you go from Arizona, which is one extreme to Florida? Which is another extreme? It is insane from the humidity. No, from going back to Arizona after Florida I never get nosebleeds totally and I was like it was just like probably a hundred percent humidity to like zero percent I was like what's going on when I went I went to Florida for my one of my best friends bachelor at parties right after he moved here and I've been running here in the desert and I went for a run there and I was so unwell the amount of sweat that came at my body I was like I literally look like I jumped in a pool with my clothes on. It was gross Unbelievable. It's gross. It's a different. We went on a lot of walks and I was like I am Disgusting. Yeah. I couldn't wear like a cute little tank top either I was wearing like a T-shirt And I was just like sticky. Uh-huh. And I was like oh yeah. Yeah. So spooky. I did request five minutes. Get ready. We have to talk about internal instinct. Yeah do you want to start there? Start on when we can both talk about. I'll do. We'll end. I don't like like DCC. There are any updates. I agree. I was kind of big. Is that there wasn't really much. Yeah it was just entertaining a lot. Yeah but I didn't think there was like a storyline to speak about. No I didn't think there were like any big characters like Faith was probably the biggest one. I liked her. I liked her. All Australian and New Zealand and Reese. I actually haven't watched last episode but I know that she retired. She does retire. You can tell that through the episode. That's on her retirement. She retired from DCC. They might move back to Alabama. Yeah. So that's exciting for them. No I think that's exciting. Yeah I was entertained but I didn't think anything like you know I've like last year it was tumultuous for them but the storyline of them trying to get more money was really interesting conversation. Yes. Because I think there was a lot of split opinions. It was interesting how they referenced it in this episode of being like last year. It was like rough. Yeah. I'm like wow like yeah they said that but they didn't really say too much of how bad it was but they're like making it seem like last year was like really. Yeah. What happened on the team? Yeah remember last year they fought for higher wages. Yeah. And so this season they kind of referenced back. There was the anytime they talk about the season before they're like yeah it was you know last season referencing it was a really high tense stressful season. Among the team are among like the teams because like I think some of them were advocating for more and some of them were like just let it be like yeah and then it's like kind of split the team a little bit. I can feel like you're disrespecting people because you're going to the higher ups. I can't see that being hard. It would be super hard. Especially on a team that big there's so many dynamics there at play. Oh yeah. So yeah that was like an interesting season to watch but I thought this season was it was just a good entertaining easy to watch but nothing like. Yeah pretty quick. Trigger warning we're about to talk about maternal instinct and the details about the case and it doesn't buy and involve violent crimes against a pregnant woman and a child. We're gonna discuss this so skip it if you need to but just a heads up. My turtle instincts though. Whoa. No the only thing I heard was in our family group chat Blake never does this. My brother was like he texted a family girl chat he was like by the way don't watch this my mom was like too late and I was like what happened and they're like it was bad I was like but what happened and they're like wouldn't say anything. Well let's get to the warnings. Yeah we're gonna spoil it we're gonna spoil alert that we're gonna talk about everything that happens on this document. I don't I can't not gonna watch it so yeah I figured and we will say they're trigger warnings of like crimes against pregnant women. Multiple crime woman woman. Oh okay. Yeah crime against a pregnant woman. Yes. The crime being murder. Yeah I'm sorry to say it lightly. Say let that say it lightly. Um homicide. Let's just say I spoiled it within the first two two minutes of it because I thought Blake knew. Wait a minute was this one? How did you know? Probably they cut the baby out of her. She cut she or she yeah. Oh my gosh wait say this again. She took so that's what I thought Blake knew that. He's like she has blood on her shirt so the it starts with the police officer going to her car. Uh-huh. Because you got pulled over for speeding and and she has this baby and then Blake goes she has blood on her. I'm like yeah she cut a baby out of someone and Blake goes oh Eddie. Spoiled it. I never heard this story before. I have not heard this. Okay. It's intense. They're in this really small now. Wait a minute is this a reenactment? No. No. Okay. No it's all like real footage and it's a documentary so it's all the people involved. That makes it less scary. I feel like yeah. No. Yeah you didn't see anything. Okay. You can talk about it. Yeah. Um and they have like the footage of her all the body cam footage but you don't see any of like the brutality of of the incident. Yeah. But it's just so interesting hearing because the girl I mean it's a really small town in Texas. Kale booked it up. The population's like 5,000 people. And everyone in this town knew that this girl what's her name? Shoot. Taylor. Yeah. This girl Taylor is a psychopath. At 21 years old she had a hysterectomy and like everyone know two kids. After two kids. And she just like she's the type that couldn't keep friends like bounce from friend to friend to friend. Wait that makes her a psychopath. No. But everyone just knew that she was a pathological liar. And people did not like her. She had a lot of enemies. She did not have a lot of friends in town. So then she started saying this guy, Wade who lives a little outside of town and starts telling him like oh yeah I'm getting all this money from my family. I'm going to get $8 million. She tells everyone that she's like going to come into these large sums of money but her crazy mom like is tricking her out of this money. Okay. So she always has a reason that she's not getting it. She almost scams her way to getting like $20 million for the property. Like something really crazy. And then it's like just very extreme. Then Wade and her kind of have like not the best relationship. So she kind of she starts to fake a pregnancy. And she starts posting about it online a lot. Like she's but she told everyone she had a hysterectomy. So she didn't tell people it happened when she was younger and only a few people knew about it in her town. She did have a hysterectomy. Yes she did. She had a topic pregnancy and they gave her they did a hysterectomy. She's very public on Facebook. Like she gifted her Wade's mom, her like boyfriend's mom a new car and made a big postman on Facebook and then two weeks later the car got repaid. So she's just very much like does things to put online to get attention and like praise. Okay. So she starts posting about this pregnancy that she's having with Wade and they've only been together for a couple months. And these her ex friends from this town are like she cannot be pregnant. She had a hysterectomy. The doctors, it's just such a small town that all the people that are in her medical practice are like they interview them. They're like we knew that she was lying because she had a hysterectomy but because of hip-hop we can't show her. And so it's interesting. Everyone's been watching her these nice nine months and she's going along. She's having gender reveals parties. All these people are telling Wade, her boyfriend and their family that she's not pregnant and they're like no. And it's it's so she goes to extreme lengths. And I think everyone in their head was just like waiting to see what she was going to do. Yeah, like she's going to have to like fake a miscarriage or lose the baby somehow. And she never did. So then the hospital alerted the hospital and was like hey we need a abduction. Lockdown on the baby. Lockdown on the baby's like until she can steal a baby from the hospital. So so crazy. So with that she's 41 weeks pregnant now. Still in all of this. No she was 17 days past her due date. I can't see where this is going. Oh yeah, she was more than that. She was 17 days past her due date and was hanging on. Yeah, she no one's ever been pregnant that long and it's been safe. And also keep in mind Wade, her partner has not seen her. He hasn't seen her naked for 10 months for this for 10 whole months. Yeah, she was 10 months pregnant. Yeah. And he was she just saying that she didn't feel comfortable and stuff like that. Yeah, she would go in her bathroom for hours every day and just like lock herself in there. Yeah. She has two other kids that aren't really in the picture. They live with her. They live with her mom. And so that is why her mom kind of puts up with like her telling all these bad things.
is about her and like the line of the pregnancy. - Because she's like, I want these kids. Like she do not have these kids. - Wait, she puts up with who's saying bad things about her? - Like her mom. - Like why did her mom tell anyone that she's lying? Like why would the mom not step in? And it's like because she didn't wanna lose custody of the kids. - The good kids. - Oh, because she could take that away. - Yeah. And so then it comes down to it. She has this one friend, Regan, that was like a really good friend to her and was trying to support her. Even though like, you know, encourage her and Regan was pregnant. And yeah, yep, she murdered her. - She murdered her and the baby. - And the baby. - And it was pretty horrible. - Yeah, it was really horrible, horrible ending. - Horrible, horrible. - While she's alive takes the baby out of it. - And her three year old was at the house. - Yeah. - That was the craziest part to me. I'm like, no one in this, no one in this story has like got off scoffery. Like it's in so insane. So luckily Taylor got the death penalty. - Yeah. - And I'm like, she deserves that one. - I'm actually not. - She's the youngest person on the desk. - Even for that. - Yeah. But I don't need to get on that soapbox right now. I feel like I have mixed feelings about it, but with that I was like, yeah. - I mean, I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna mourn that. - No. - But wait a minute. - So, double homicide. - Yeah. - Yep. - Horrible. - Friend. - So she cut this baby out. She was looking up how to perform a C-section. - Yeah. - And how to scowl. - A woman is evil. - I mean, this is really sick. - So sick. - Yeah. - They just study her brain. - Yeah, they did. - She took the baby to a placenta is connected. She's driving to the hospital. - With the placenta. - With the placenta. - placenta in her pants. And it's holding the baby and it's driving to the hospital. And a cop pulls her over 'cause she's driving. - Oh, radical. - Oh my gosh. - You guys, I could've gone my whole life out knowing this story. - But she said not. - Oh my, this is like so much worse because of how it's gone. - It was a really crying junkie on it. - But my butt is crazy. - It's really brutal. I mean, we should give a stronger trigger warning before, well, we'll go back, and we'll put a stronger trigger warning in this room. - But it is a stronger trigger warning. - It's insane. - Yeah. - I would've given you a trigger warning. - I'm so sad about this baby. I'm literally about to cry right now. - I was crying, I was crying. - I was crying too. It was so insane. And the fact, I don't know, just this whole town, I think it's, I think the big conversation is like, how these people just, there was no one's fault except her fault. - Yes. - But like, no one in this town really said anything. - We're going to get out. Like, their friend figured it out and knew and was like trying to explain it. - They were like trying to tell Wade, but just, yeah, you can just tell. And I don't mean any offense to Wade, but you can just tell he's probably not like the most educated, like, and I also think in his mind, he probably just didn't really care. Like, you didn't like her at all. You can tell he didn't like her. - Oh no, you didn't like her. - Because she was in Texas. - Yeah, and like a really small town. - You can tell he didn't like her. And in my head, I'm like, he probably is just like, well, if she thinks she's pregnant, I'll just wait and to see what she does. I know she's not. - But like, was this 2020, not the fact that she already, wait, she's been, I already executed. - No, I don't think so. - I was gonna say that doesn't work that fast. - No. - That's the thing, yeah. - She's going through all of her appeals. - She's the youngest, her son will be alive for like, the youngest woman on death row in Texas. - Wow. I mean, that's just such an emotional, like, of course, they're gonna give a really strong, I mean, that's, I have no words. - Yeah, it's interesting. - I will literally, I'm not okay, and I just heard you guys retell this word. - I know, don't watch it. It's, that is a sharp turn from DCC, guys, wow. - We're gonna switch it to Love Island. - No, I'm gonna talk about Love Island. - We'll go down and then up again. - Yes. - But everyone on the internet is talking about this case. I've seen a lot of different questions. - I've seen zero. - My gosh. - Well, you're, I've seen most of them take talk. I think in my head, I, I understand these people never thought she would like murder someone. I'm normal mine, she doesn't go there. - No one would think that. - And if someone said that they'd be like, come on. - No, literally. - She was gonna kill somebody. - She's not evil, right. - Well, she's going to the, she's in the hospital with the police officers, and she's like, I just had a baby. - You make a doctor go in and check her. - They made a doctor go in and check her, and he's like, which he shouldn't have said this. This is something I saw. He technically shouldn't be saying what he said because of HIPAA, and even though the doctor hurt, like with the police officers all just standing around, she goes, she didn't have a baby. - Oh, yeah. - She did not just have a baby. - Oh, interesting. - He was like, she shouldn't have said it like that because like, they need to document that, and then that'd be the process of it. 'Cause now HIPAA, they just told everyone who's around them of this happened. I don't know. - I don't know, we were right at that point. She's a prisoner at that point. - Yeah, no, I'm not sure. - Correct the way they guess. I don't know. That's insane. Like, it was really, it was, I think it's really crazy and hard to think about people just like actually being evil like that. And I know it's true and it exists, but it's just so outside of the realm of the norm. It's just hard to believe sometimes. - Did she testify? - They didn't give her a voice in the name. - Not in the documentary, but in court, has she testified for herself at all? - They didn't make it seem like she did. - I don't think so. - They didn't show any of that. - I'm sure her lawyers are like, don't need to say anything. - Don't say words. - I wouldn't know if she expresses any type of remorse. - It didn't seem like it. - I don't think she thinks. - I don't think that doesn't earn her anything in my mind, but honestly, I'm glad she doesn't, 'cause I'm like, you, I actually, I can just say your brain isn't functioning. - Right. - I can just say that and I can not think that that whatever, just. - Yeah. - That is, that's her. - Well, that's crazy. - I like true crime. Gosh. (laughing) - Him and me. - Does it feel like true crime if you know the ending? - Yeah. - Yeah. - Oh, yeah. - Okay. - I don't know if that's true crime. - No, a lot of them are like, you know the whole thing. - Okay. - I'd rather know the whole thing. - It's missing, I don't listen to them. - It's a little bit like. - Actually, yeah, it's trying to never, I wouldn't really, if it's an open case, it seems less good. - Yeah. - Less good, yeah. - They're all bad. - They're all bad, right. - So while Violet had it, - I wouldn't call it that. - Give me a recap. - Okay. Well, it's so hard 'cause this is gonna be coming out next Friday, which by so many think, there's gonna be one, two, three, four, five, six, seven more episodes by that time. But I will give my update from right here right now. We're in the middle of class. - Maybe some people are behind listening to this. - If you're behind. I mean, the middle of class at night, two or three, they just, they just played the, like, game where they had the two, the ratings things in the villas for competing against each other. Okay, that's where I'm at. Guys, is it bad? - It's still so much kissing, so much making us, I'm also watching UK. So again, I'm comparing it to UK, where it's just so much better. The challenges in UK are like, this person's body count is this, or this is something this person said is a red flag for them. So challenges where you're learning something about these people in their character, rather than you would say. - That's just like an intimate thing to share at the world. - I thought you were saying that that was like, no less classy. - No, it's better than these slime challenges and make out in the slime pool. - Do you feel weird washing it with your husband? - My brother. - Oh, no, those parts. - Yes, I'm like. - I have friends though that are like, I don't let my husband watch Love Island because they are like boobies and goodies out. (laughing) - I will say, okay, if we're talking about the challenge from last night, so it's Kassamore. What this means is that the boys all leave the house and go to a different house, and then there's new girls that come in to that house, and there's new boys that go into the other house. They have like three nights, they're getting to know these people, and then they'll re-couple. So they decide, they each decide if they want to stay with their couple, they were before, or be with a new person. - Yeah. - So, but they don't know what's happening in the other room. They don't know what their couple's doing on the other side. So, that's what we're in right now is Kassamore. This challenge was wild. So, they're competing, the villa and Kassam, are competing against each other. They are, each person spends this little wheel, and then they get a ball that says their action, they have to complete. So, someone's was dance. Someone's is kiss. Someone was lick. Someone was suck. Someone was tickle. - Tickle. - And then they pick who they want to do it with, and then both villas are doing it, and then the judges. - What are they judging? - Who are these judges? - One episode I was like, these challenges are stupid. Who are the judges? But they're showing it at this real time of the scale, the scales are getting up to whoever wins the challenge. All these girls are like dancing, and shaking booty, and doing all this stuff, 'cause they're trying to win this challenge. - Yeah, they don't care what's going on. - Their dresses are coming up. You're seeing whole booty cheeks, your boobs are coming out. They're like censored, but it's like. Even Blake, which he's a lot of time, obviously he's not watching it. And he's like, oh my gosh, he never has verbal reactions. He's just like, this is so stupid. He's like, I cannot believe this is happening. - They're showing that much. It was just. - Does love Island feel like a social experiment sometimes? Like, how far will people go? - Kind of, like they are so. - Like how far will people just do what they're told? Kind of us. - Yeah, maybe. Because you're like, you maybe don't want to do it. - Or there'd be these guys who are like, I want to go back to my couple, or this girl, that was like, I know I want to go back to my couple, but they're still making out and doing this in this challenge, 'cause it's challenge, and you gotta do it. - Oh, and they're making out other people, even though they have like a girlfriend in the house. - Yeah, and they want to go back to that person. Like they know they're not going to couple up with one of these people. Yeah, and then at the end, they're like, okay, the last challenge, freestyle, and then everyone goes up, and it's just like a big, orgy-looking thing. Like, they're all just making out with you. They're like making out with each other, switching, laying. - And then they're people judging it? - Yeah, the villa one. - Who knows? Who freaking knows? - I think it's a crazy show. So. - Anyone who has- - There could be a point where she stops watching. - No. (laughing) - You hate it by your hood. - I hate it by that. - Thank you to Quince for sponsoring this portion of today's episode. Quince.com/abby. - Oh, there's poor people on this show. I mean, honestly, I feel bad for them. They're just doing what they're told. - Yeah, this season isn't a hit for, like, love Island. I think it's getting ratings, but it's, where everyone's like, it's not like the past season. It's been like so much better. So that's my, I guess I said that all the same last time. It just, it's just crazy before. - You know what, I'm sorry, I saw. I was like, they just want to kiss. They don't want to meet. They don't even care to, like, actually, even be boyfriend and girlfriend. - No, it's not alone. - Discussing. - Mayor just completely off the table. - Yeah, yeah. It's so hard sometimes with these shows. I get it, like, they're in this predicament where they feel like they have to keep one up in themselves from the past. And so then things just get crazier and crazier. We talk about those Americas next top model. Like, it just keeps the snowball, just keeps snowballing. And then it, you're like, well, we can't go backwards 'cause then that feels boring compared to what we just did. - I feel like, well, my island is the degradation of society. (laughing) - I love how you explain it. - It doesn't really match my personality, though. - No, no, I like it, though. - It is a guiltary pleasure. - Yeah. - I don't know if you'll nag, you'll teep. I do when those scenes are happening, but when they're just chatting. - Yeah. - You're like, whatever, the first word of the challenge is. (laughing) - Someone made a take talk about that. They're like, why are the episodes so short this season and then it's her best wordings of the championship? (laughing) - That's how it was. My mom was like, you have to watch Bridgerton. You have to watch Bridgerton. - My mom said that. - My mom was like, we have to watch this. - I've heard that was very spicy. - Listen, I didn't watch Bridgerton. I fast-forwarded their Bridgerton. - That's how when I was watching it was-- - It gave us thrones. - Unbelievable. - Okay, but Game of Thrones is not like made to be arousing. Like, it's like-- - Oh, is there a different, is that different? - My mom's like, why are you fast-forwarding it? It's so good. I was like, this is so good. I don't need to see that. Full everything. My TV update. - 10 minutes. I only watched a movie and it was Emperor's New Groove. - Hey, was that good? - Was it good as an adult? - It's excellent. - Yeah. - You can watch mine's in there. - It's so good. - Yeah. - I watched that with the kids in Florida. I need to watch, I'm at night. Tonight, I'm gonna watch Zendaya and Robert Parsons. - Oh, wedding, um. - Something. - I watched the Incredibles. It was like-- - It's a cloud. - That's an incredible, no pun intended. Incredible movie for an adult, too. - The first is a second. - The first one. I just rewatched it for the first time as CJ. He's really into it. And I was like, wow, the character is so relatable. - And Emperor's New Groove, I was reminded, has a-- - Full of drama. - MSU alone. - Yeah, I'm good, man. - John Goodman. - John Goodman. - Yeah, that's good. - What a drama. - The drama. - I wanna hear your recountment. - I'm excited to watch. I know nothing about it. I just know that I really like Zendaya. I just really am a huge fan of her. - Mm-hmm. - If it's good, let me know. - Okay. What's it on? - I don't know what to do. We already looked into this because we know that the kids are gonna be with us. - It was in the theater. - The kids are going to toy story with my parents, and we are going to watch a movie. - Oh my gosh, fine. - And so we need to know the movie right now and get to business. But you have to get it off of either YouTube or Google. - Yeah. - But it is streaming. - It's on Apple TV. - Oh, it is? - I thought you were gonna have to buy it. - I think it's going prime. - Save them pennies. Well, I feel like you've been watching so much TV, Addy. - Time to finally share why. - I'm pregnant. (cheering and clapping) - Yay. - The birth control episode was a hoot. (laughing) - She's like, I can't talk to my shoulders. - I can't, I'm sorry. - When we have our second one. - I guess so. - Yes. - How do you feel? - How far long do you know? - How long do you know at this point? - I'm 14 and a half weeks right now as time of recording. So in the second trimester, feeling good, now. - Yeah. - First trimester was rough, but not as bad as Brio. Like it was way better. I was able to work out this time. I had more nighttime nausea. - In my first trimester than morning nausea. - Oh, interesting. - So. - I know you miss a lot of family dinners and stuff. - Yeah, I was like, I can't. - Yeah. - And you were like, recording, I'm a real good sick. - Oh my, I was getting sick. - Yeah. - I was like, Hannah, can you please get this stuff? - Yeah. - It's literally fine. Shout out to Hannah. Two feet from you. Two feet from you. I'm like, texting her, can you please get me one? No, I've been feeling good now. I got my energy back now, which is great. - Yeah. - Yeah, so New York was a rough one. - For me, that was the worst timing. - That was really bad. Adi was sick the whole, like, you're so nervous. - I was sick. - Basically, every single time we got in the car. So that was a rough time. But other than that, it was fun. But trying to eat the food and stuff like that. - Adi, I'm also bad for you. I'm like, good, yummy, fancy restaurant. - Everything was just odd. - Can I tell you, I have an aversion to ground beef right now. - Oh, really, because of that right now. - I think it's probably not because of that restaurant, but I didn't eat that burger. And that's when it started. - I realized I was like, I don't want burgers. It's mostly specifically burgers. - Interesting. - But ground beef aversion. - You missed out on a really good burger. - Hey, we talked about you really good. - Hannah's crazy that you still want to eat that. - I know, I haven't eaten salmon since. And it doesn't sound good, but that one looks good. - I was so hungry to eat that. - I was like, I need to eat something. - So nausea and like food aversion to probably your biggest symptoms. - Yeah, I've started getting headaches now. - That's the time that's happened. - So I'm wondering, I'm like, do I get some iron? - Magnesium. - Magnesium, I do have magnesium. I should do that. Getting some headaches near the end of the day, but I'm starting to feel better. It's gone my way faster. Now that I've had one kid to take care of. - Yeah. - It's just, I'm not checking my app every day. - No. - Like I did the first time. - Totally. - And it's just kind of flown by, being here in the second trimester. But I'm also like, wow, there's still a long time to get. - Yeah. - Oh, I know. - So, yeah, it's exciting. - It's a long game. It's a marathon. - We found out before your husband. - Yes, that is, there is a very, very-- - I can't keep my mouth shut, apparently. - No, it wasn't that you said anything. - No, I did. - I didn't spill it, but I feel like I should have, okay, here's what happened. - Yeah, so the morning that Addy, like literally took the test, Blake sat work. And we were doing something for always here. And we went to post something. - We just, we just finished recording. We were filming like a funny TikTok. - You were filming because always here was on, or the event was on that Saturday. - Oh, it was pretty funny. - And so, you guys, I was like, just take your, use my phone and post on always here story. - And I went to go tap to like post a story. And it was literally just a picture of a positive pregnancy test. - I didn't even see it, you saw it. - I saw it the first time and I was like, no. - No. - I didn't even think, it was just like a flashing thought. And then when I saw it, the second time I was like, I literally just like regurged here. I was like, are you pregnant? And then I was like, in hindsight, I really wish I would have just been like, pulled you aside separately. I probably would have still said something to you. - You went to shock, you go, Addy, are you pregnant? - No, I was shocked. - You're shocked. - And it was just a true reaction. - It was a true reaction. - And I was like, huh? - And then I was like, what? And I was like, what? - Matt thought I was announcing it to you guys. And I'm like, he comes in recording. - Yes. - We're all like, oh, and Addy's like, no window. - I was like, you post a video. Because I think Matt did just a good part of that video. - Yeah, we should post that. - I feel like my reaction was not good though. So I always get really up, what's the word? Instacure, wait, I'm reacting to something because I feel like sometimes I'm like, my face is not showing what I am like feeling. I was just kind of like, what? - No, it was pure shock for you and me. - Yeah. - Because here's the thing is I also never give you guys my personal phone to record on. I always give you my work phone. And it wouldn't have been on there. But this time I was like, just go, just do it. Here you go. - It's meant to be. - I know, so it was really funny. I had to tell, obviously once I told Blake, I was like, so, Abigail, Abby, Hannah, and Matt, no. I was worried I was gonna tell my mom. I did tell my mom and then I was like, wait, you can't, why don't I tell you that? You can't tell anybody. 'Cause my mom was saying off Lori and you weren't telling me Lori yet. So I was like, I shouldn't have told you that. But she kept the secret. - She did, she did. - Yeah, she did. - I felt bad about it. - No, I didn't even know she knew. So it wasn't that. - No, I knew a lot about her words, but. - No, that was really fun. And then telling,
Blake was funny because and I I got no one's reactions on video I just kind of it was really fun to just be in the moment this time I'm not really record anything I did set up my phone to record Blake in the NFL so I do have the audience and so I also Blake's reaction is underwhelming yeah it doesn't need to be we love him so much we do we do steady yes he is steady so I went to Target on my way to record and I was like let's see if I can find a one Z that says big sister when you're looking for a six-month-old there is not going to be one that it all says little sister little says so I thought one that said sisters club cute sister club and so then I I got that brought at home and then I put the pregnancy test out there and I was like we had photos that night I had mommy me mommy and me photos and so I was like Blake can you please get real dressed so that I can go and finish getting ready and he goes in there and you look at it and he goes this isn't yours is it I'm like I'm just liking that who else could it be like yours yeah it is he goes oh it's funny he's like so I was like you know how this happened so yeah it's crazy it's coming so it is funny because I do have a text because I here's a thing I want it to be pregnant we can just get that out there we have talked about the gap where you're like six to eight months you're like I need a new baby I need a baby I love real get that out of here we're getting a new one we need a new one just six to eight like months were you like I want another baby I stopped breastfeeding or I she brought sleeping through the night at that point I was weaning breastfeeding next step let's just get pregnant and I had texted Blake like how'd it been that week must have been because I knew I was ovulating probably I was like you want to mid-December baby he never replied to my dad he didn't respond but he showed up so he didn't need a response he didn't need a response he said he said I'll see you lunch we just text a lot so that was funny but yeah it was another we're very lucky first first time we weren't trying yes we were because we did it unprotected but we weren't like intentionally like we want to start for a baby right now and work towards that so but they'll be 16 months apart yeah I wasn't tracking ovulation I just noticed some changes in my body so yeah that's mostly how I knew yeah cuz I had it been tracking at that point yeah so it was it all lined up pretty well I know Chris is baby Chris is baby which I'm kind of excited about but also it's like okay I want this baby to come on its due date or before because I'm like then we're getting too close to Christmas what is are you saying the due date I don't care it's December 19th so very close to real is the day after who do you date uh three days after three days after day so yeah so well it's funny because I'm thinking about that too I guess real it's not the same way my birthday is very close to Valentine's day and we learned this year because it's the first year which we already knew is because of Matt but Blake's birthday is also very close to Valentine's day oh crap holidays I never told Blake happy birthday your brother yes did you know that daddy no shoot you better throw him a 42 people on the same day it makes it a little hard so focused on that oh no okay my gotta call make up this yeah call right now you call him right now on the podcast he'll answer because you're calling that's will he though I think so hello happy birthday to you happy birthday to you happy birthday dear Blakey happy birthday to you thank you I'm like I'm so sorry I'll call you back later and actually do something for you I don't know literally what is wrong with me I'm really sorry I missed your birthday but just a few days did you have a good one there's a couple birthdays on that day so I understand okay well we'll have to do something in hindsight because at your sister's a dummy really okay I apparently I felt many birthdays then well sorry I hope you had a good day okay thank you I did okay I love you bye oh it's really sweet I love they made you finish this song he's just like the letter go he surely knows her recording yeah the thing about it is that I'm like how bad am I at birthdays I didn't even think anything of it well your grandma also did it text him she just sent him a phone that's so what are we talking about you were tracking your ovulation what we talking about is oh I was saying my baby my computer be close yes Chris yeah all holiday baby we're all holidays except for for real but she's her holidays around her is birthdays I brought that everyone she just in birthday month she's a birthday month yeah everyone else yeah yeah yeah so I guess baby August baby so good different distance between her birthday and this next baby's birthday yeah I also I kind of wanted a winter when to read yeah it was season and what a different season and so it did mess up our timeline of we were wanting to buy a house this year oh yeah and we wanted to do it in December to like hopefully lineup I don't know how everyone does it with having an apartment lease and then trying to buy a house and not wanting to have to pay your apartment rent and your start paying all for your house and your mortgage yeah no you don't pay your mortgage for like the first two or three months oh good to know well all the closing fees and stuff like that but that is wait that's good to know yeah you actually because we were worried worried about that too and we bought our house like we closed in May and we didn't move out until June we didn't pay our first mortgage until July good to know so yeah you have a little bit of buffer now we can buy house yeah so we're going on vacation next month and we're gonna start looking after that so that's like exciting but also stressful yeah and you'll be very being being very pregnant but also am I put you into labor so who cares yeah just keep moving yeah and the nesting like the the nesting feeling oh I'm moving into a house where I'm like I want to organize it all might be good or I'm gonna be so it'll be the worst thing that you do but you'll be happy to it later yeah I mean be in it you're like this was a horrible idea but I'm glad we did it you know people do those things we moved and I was nine months pregnant with CJ well Caleb moved us I didn't really do anything yeah that was also just a stressful time but you know we had a lot of friends help us okay but yeah I know like movers we're gonna have no money pay for movers because that's better we have movers when we move from our other apartment to this apartment we also live on the third floor of an apartment complex with no elevators okay and really narrow stairways I know it yeah yeah they're narrow so we're gonna have we're gonna pay for movers to do that might as we are gonna use might as best they're great great so nice that's a good plan yeah yeah so yeah so that'll so you're still gonna keep your timeline then for the house we are moving up the like we're gonna start like the whole process of like starting to talk to a realtor and maybe like a house is in August yeah so we can have a little bit more time and hopefully be have a house moved in feel settled by the better idea yeah because sometimes things just don't exactly and so we're willing to like have to pay extra and rent or close our lease early and do those fees and stuff like that so we just want to have enough time to get what we want and not have to like rush through that process either for sure it's big it's a big big huge deal yeah the most stressful things will do yeah so but it's exciting we I'm so excited it's weird to like maybe you felt the service CJ because did you guys know you were gonna buy a house before you had CJ um we bought the house a year after she did was born oh okay so we lose your downsides from that rental house that we had that was stored our that's for bulk into a small apartment and you are oh you went from three thousands of graffiti to like eleven so and then you had CJ at the at the apartment and we were in the apartment for one year and then we bought a house oh okay so like the thing I'm I'm a planner type a I can't picture what things are gonna look like right now because I don't know where we're gonna be so I'm like it's really weird because like when we had Brielle when I was pregnant with Brielle I was like okay this room is gonna be her room and we can start thinking and thinking about it and doing these things right and I'm like I have no idea where we're gonna be so I don't know what it's gonna look like and so that's a weird feeling to feel but it's normal obviously yeah yeah okay so you're like I don't know where we're gonna be yeah you guys run that studio and move into your house yeah yeah it's it is hard to picture especially when you are like a planner but it's one of those things where you have to remind yourself it's like it's an exciting unknown because it's so fun
know when you find your house and move in and you get to like make the space your own. So you just have to keep reminding yourself even when you feel stressed or like overwhelmed of like, I can't nest and prepare the way that I would want to. You just have to remind yourself it'll be worth it in the long run. You just have to come back to that. No, I'm so excited to be in a house. So it like makes me really excited. You know, so your bedroom, in part one is two bedrooms, right? So you have to move out anyway. We have to move out, yeah, yeah. In our brain. Like we, it's just something that we know we want to do anyway. Yeah, for sure. Yeah. I think we're going to try and move out even if we didn't have another baby on the way anyway. So are you guys both nesting like crazy? I mean, I guess you're not going to be. I'm not there. You're not going to be nesting. Yeah, I need to worry because I have done nothing. And see that stresses me out. Really? Well, when I walk into your mudroom, I'm like, I'm stressful. I need to go in there. It's crazy. It's really, it's all just stacked. Let's put it away. Yeah, let's help you. Yeah, put it away. There's no place to put it. I don't know what to do. It's, that is okay. I remember what you did the whole time. I was like second baby. Who cares? Like, I know what to do. Been there, done that. I don't need to prepare. And then I went in and my 37 week appointment. She was like, you're two centimeters dilated in like 50% of face. And I was like, I need a prepare. I need a prepare. And then it like freaked out. And then it's like, okay, all the bottles, everything. So do you feel like you're there? I think I'm freaked out. Yeah, like need to prepare. It does, it does bother me. But then I'm like, there's just so much going on that I'm like, by the end of the day, I'm like, what am I going to really just start this project right now? Yeah. So I have kind of just been like trying to think of a way. And now I have a week set aside in my brain where I'm like, I'm probably going to work two days and then three days have nesting. And then my friends will like so many people have offered which is so nice. And it's one of those things where it's like, yes, I would love to accept your help. That is so nice. Also, we were talking about, this is just a side note, but you know how like all of our friends are very like hands on like, let me enter your space and enter your world and help you out like. Yeah. And then, but that also requires on you to like accept it. And I feel like me. I'm like, yes, thank you so much. Sometimes I do feel guilty. Like, I'm like, no, somebody else, somebody else, like we have been so blessed, like somebody else. But we have one of our friends that is like, she's like, I absolutely, she's like, it's my toxic trait. I know I can't accept any help. And we're like, no. And then one of our friends goes, why are you so mean to us? I was just watching her son. And she, she really goes, why are you so mean to, yeah, you're depriving us of the joy of helping to, you know, to like, you know, be trusted in that way and to like just like be so close to people. Right. And so I think about that a lot. I'm like, no, it's fine. It's just great. And so, um, anyway, so those like other three days, I, the goal, which this has happened before and it didn't work out. So I'm like, it could get derailed. It's just knock it all out that day. And honestly, the things that are stressing me out the most are not things that all related to the baby. It's literally all things related to like getting other systems in place in my house. Then when I'm like, I don't have the capacity for that. Like, it'll just, like, it'll be easy, smoothly. And I can just focus on you. Yeah. But it's really, it's not in good shape right now. I mean, the, here's the thing. I have myself to directly compare because I have a friend that is do literally on the same day. And she's a very type A. And she has this beautiful nursery. And it's like all completely ready. Like, it's gorgeous. Yeah. And I'm like, hmm, they're yet. I don't think this baby is going to have a nursery. Right. And so I'm like, that's, I think you'll probably just sleep with us until he moves into the room with his brothers. Like, I don't know. Like, that's just kind of like what we've just been talking about right now. It feels so hard to wrap our head around, honestly. Even though it's our third, I'm kind of just like, what do we do? Yeah. I mean, let me in your room for at least three months. Yeah. I mean, we had both of the boys in our room until like nine or ten months. Really? Yeah. Did you just put the crib in your room? Yeah. Oh, okay. See, we didn't have room for a crib. So it was like months of a SNET. I grew. Oh, yeah. There was no option. Also, we kept them in a bathroom. Yeah. Okay. You just need to make it a YouTube video and then you have to do it. That's what I did. I was like, I have to nest. I have to prepare, and if I have to schedule it into my work hours to make it my work time, then that's what I'll do. That's a good idea. Because you already have your work time scheduled and so it's like this days, I'm making content cleaning my house. I know. I feel like I have to shuttle my kids out. Yeah, you do. Do you want to get out? No, so you just had to do it on. I had to do it during nap time. It was like my linen closet was driving me nuts. I was like, I have to do this before baby comes, which doesn't make sense, but it's like, I'm trying to have a baby. You don't want to be wrestling your sheets. I need things to be smooth and organized because I'm not going to clean it for at least four more months. So I get it. You got to do it. You got to do it. I have been, yeah, this is my gadget pregnancy or my gadget newborn stage because of the other times we didn't really get those convenience items. Baby items. This time I'm like, I'm going to get the convenience items. I got a mini fridge yesterday on Prime Day deals. Nice. I got, we're just going to make it just as convenient as possible because I'm like, I already know that I feel like I was overly confident going from one to two. And then I was like looking back more on that transition. I was like, man, that was just so much more humbling than I really gave it credit for. And that's what I actually we should talk about like the transitions from kids. Because I've always said zero to one was the hardest. But I mean that in a different way in the sense of like, I might actually think one to two was the hardest. But here's what I mean. And we were talking about this with our friends that just had a third baby because I've been like picking everyone's brains because I'm like, tell me what it's like, like what should I expect, what should I, like tell me about what your experience is. And the way they described it I think was really well done because there I was like, wait, I relate to that so much. Zero to one was hard because that's an identity shift. You are mom now. You are becoming a mom. Your husband is becoming a dad for the first time ever. That's a big identity shift. But the thing about one to two is that it's, but with what one, you're kind of tag teaming. You're working as a team, but like one of you is kind of like off and one's on because you've got one kid. Yeah. The difference between that and then one to two is that then you're both like bully on your capacity. Your capacity has to grow so much with a second. So much. Yeah. You've already done the identity shift, but then the capacity thing and then the like, how do we both be on 100% at 100% of the time? And I think that that was more of like a shocker. Like in hindsight, I was like, that was really difficult. Yeah. And I didn't give it the, I think that what was really shocking for me the first time was identity shift. And then, but you've already made the chain. I was like, I've already made the chain. I know nap time. I know the schedules, like I know everything. But then it was just the capacity shift with between one to two was really, really surprising. That's a good way of saying it. Yeah. But then they were saying like two to three, you've already made the identity shift. You've already stretched your capacity. And now you know how to work as a team really well. And you're just kind of like, you've got the teamwork down. So they said the two to three was really actually fairly easy for them. Wow. Good. And they've done it so gracefully. Seriously. I'm like, well, wait, do you guys have a baby? They've been reassuring. Which I'm like, that's so nice because they're like, they're like, no, they're like, it's so much easier. It's so much easier. And I was like, that's really good to hear. But yeah, I've just been reflecting a lot on like what transitions. And also I do think age gaps play a big role in this conversation too. But even I thought one to two was really hard. And they have a bigger age gap than what like Griffin Augie have. I was really surprised. And maybe it's good to hear this added to like mentally prepare. I'll say like the things that I'm thinking of that are like not stressing me out. But I feel like that I'm not going to understand or adapt to it. Or like that's going to take me a minute is nap time. Like when Braille naps, I'm free to do what I need to do. There's going to be another baby that's not going to nap at the same exact times every single day.
single day, and you'll figure that out at some point, they'll go maybe go to the same nap time. I don't know. I mean, when there's one baby that only takes one nap a day, and there's going to be another baby that takes the four nap sets. No, I'm telling you, Adi, they always take an nap at the same time. I don't-- There's a link. I think Breelle could be on a one nap schedule right now, like I think she could do it. I don't want to do that. No, I'm keeping her on a two nap schedule because I want those longer chunks of time to like-- because she still takes two hour nap sets if I let her. And so, that I'm thinking about, I'm thinking about morning routines of, I get up, I get Breelle ready, I get her, we go to the gym, I'm like, okay, I'm going to have to take care of baby. Blake's going to need to get Breelle up, Blake's going to need to do-- like, I feel like it might be a bigger load on Blake with the second-- like having a second baby, being like, I actually can't do all these things anymore, like I need you to step in here, which he will very gracefully do. I just-- I do it right now. I'm a morning gal. I'll take care of Breelle. You sleep in. I don't care. So, those are the things I'm thinking of right now. Yeah. I feel like it's-- when you're nursing, it's so much-- I had a really hard time balancing the nursing with too. Because yeah, it's like, every two hours you have to stop what you're doing and sit, but you're taller. Once you keep going in your day, keeps going in your schedule, keeps going. And I felt really overwhelmed by, like, the capacity of-- not the capacity. I felt really overwhelmed by the schedule of nursing and then just work and toddler and family and just normal day-to-day life things. Now I feel-- like it's grown. I've stretched it. I've, like, come into it. I feel way more confident, way more smooth. I'm at nine months. I think at six months, there was a huge shift for me mentally, too. Like, the brain fog lifted. I felt like my mind was working again. And I could manage the scheduling a little bit better. But those first six months were really, really tough for me. I felt very overwhelmed. I think that was what shocked me the most going from zero or from one to two was that I was really prepared for CJ to feel jealous and, like, upset and not understand the attention. I felt really sad that I physically felt like I could not take care of CJ and that baby at the same time. Yeah. I felt that so much. And the guilt that came with that-- Like, hard. Especially because Augie was a C-section. I just remember feeling it for so long. I was like, how irresponsible of me. I made these children. I, like, one of these children. Yeah. I chose Abby's children. And I literally can't do it by myself. Do it by myself. Uh-huh. I, like, it makes me sad, really, to think about because I was like, I think I lacked a lot of confidence that I thought that I had. It was like a really humbling time. Like, I was like super humble. Super humble. I like need Matt. I need my mom. Yeah. I need, like, all these other things. And I don't know. I think it's a mom not feeling self-sufficient is, like, probably one of the most scary things. It's scary. And some of the other challenges I remember was, like, just the logistics of loading the kids up and out of the car, like, leaving the house and being out and about. And just, like, for the first time, not having just, like, my eyes on one. And then this was all the same time that, like, my, all this was just starting to walk. And he would, like, ghost. And I'm like, my gosh. The baby's crying. And like, I just felt like I was like, I can't split my brain. Like, I just remember that being like, how do people do this? Like, how do people do this? Let alone have, go on to have more. Like, I remember just being like, this is just impossible. But like I said, your capacity does grow, but that those earlier days, I, like, half your mind myself, I was like, that was, that was tough. And that was a time where I was just lacking, I just felt a lot of shame, honestly. Like, and I was so enjoying both my kids, but I just feel like it was hard to even feel that at that point because I felt like I was letting them down. And I think that's a common thing. I wasn't letting them down. I was just learning and everyone was just learning, and it's a growth period. Like that was really, because I just remember with my first, I was like, oh my gosh, it's so quiet. Like, he's just napping and then I got to like clean the house and like, it was just a very different experience. And then the other thing that surprised me was, though it's one thing to be waking up with one kid is another thing to be waking up with too. And usually like one is like a better sleeper than the other, but there's like times where your oldest will just like humble you or your good sleeper will humble you. And I was like, wow, this is double the weight of some last time. I'm really shocked by that. And the other thing I thought about was sicknesses. So like that's why when like someone would get sick, I was like, okay, now one kid is sick and then he'll be sick and then the next kid will get sick and then we'll get sick and then my husband will get sick and then it's been a month. And then that takes. So and then it's like, okay, well, I really think that this kid needs to get out of the house and but this kid is contagious at this point probably. So we're all stuck here and we're all going crazy right now. And then just the ripple effect that that would cause was like surprising for me. Yeah. Todd learned baby. Yeah. I felt the same. Yeah, I think I was just really shocked. I was so humbled. But I also am like, I think there's times in our life where the Lord is like, you need to accept help and you need help. Like, I think we have to be reminded that we can't do things on our own. Yeah, that's true. And that's a good thing. Like we're supposed to remember that we are not so like we're not supposed to be self-sufficient like we're supposed to, you know, I believe I'm supposed to rely on the Lord. And so it's like, okay, then this is a good season of my life to humble me and remind me that I can't do it all. Totally. It's good. Totally. It stretched me, it grew me, it humbled me, it shaped me. It made me better person and a better mom and like, you'll get through it. It's just, it is really hard. And I think I didn't mentally prepare for that. Oh yeah. I was like, I got this. So how? What's another baby? And then I was like, oh my gosh. I will say on this side of things now with two toddlers, I think having two is way easier than having one. Yes, I can't. Now that the baby is playing the piano. It takes a while. It takes a while. And I remember just thinking like they, everyone said this, they're going to be just such good buddies. And I was like, it's a potato and a crazy, just baby toddler right here. And then all of a sudden they were like playing and entertaining each other. And like, today, they're like looking for each other because they had a whole play place of kids to play with, but they wanted to play with each other. And I was like, oh, this is so sweet. I know. You think about it. It's like in the grand scheme of our life, a really hard six months is like a blink of an eye. And so once you're, you know, you just have to keep that in perspective of like the long term game of like, we want our kids to have friends and siblings and like, we want big families. So you just have to think, okay, I'm going to have a hard six months and then we're done. And then we get to enjoy the rest of our life. I feel like people also, I didn't have a lot of mom friends that had two at the time because we got pregnant so quick that I was like, really unprepared. So I say this to just honestly have healthy expectations. So then if anything, you're like, this is so dramatic. I mean, I even felt that way when I had Brielle, I felt like it was easier. I mean, we got to a point where I was like, oh, it's tough now. But like, no one kind of, I mean, if you have a decent, decent baby, that sounds bad to say. But I'm like, those first two weeks can actually be like, pretty chill, easy, maybe sleep and eat. And they're not crying. Like, Brielle didn't cry that much. She just woke up, slept in eight. So those first two weeks, I was like, guys, this is easy. What do you mean? And then they wake up and you're like, okay, this is it. But no, I think that's, I'm, I'm picturing the first five months being tough because my mom will be here for a little bit of it, but she doesn't retire. She's tying me. So I'm just the whole time. I'm going to be like, mom, mom, I'm going to be ready, please come, please come. But I think, I'm just thinking of like the working full time and having two kids and being like, okay, I can probably have one with me. I can have the baby with me and make this work, but I can't also entertain Brielle and make that work too. So I'm like, okay, have her with the sitter, what she loves. And like figuring out logistics of like, that seems mean. You shift one kid off with a sitter and keep one, you know, but you're like, logistically you're just doing what works for you. Yeah, that's a short, short season. Yeah, if you're nursing too, it's like kind of the, I, that is another thing that you were talking about. I was just like, thinking about nursing for 20 minutes and Brielle like crawling and walking around. Oh, I guess I did 15 per side, so 30, but I'm like, having her just not, let me just have to hope she doesn't get into anything. You know what? They adapt quickly. Mmm. She could sit next to me. She loves babies. My kids are so Audrey. Well, here's the other thing. My kids are so creative. You're like, sit next to me and home a hand. I think my kids is like, I give them an inch and take them while I'm like, what are you doing? I'm just, I'm still, they're almost before I feel like I can't shower. Yeah. Like, we have, I feel like I have to have eyes on them. Because I'm like, I don't know what you're going to do. Yeah. Brielle would be playing in the dog bowl at that point. Like, she would just be, if I look away for two seconds, she's got her hands in the dog bowl. I'm like, but you'll be in your new house and you'll know what to play. Well, that's a good way. I can't picture. Exactly. That's the thing is I'm like, someone asked me the other day. They're like, how what are you doing with baby proofing? I'm like, I'm not going to be here very long, much longer. I'm not doing much. I, when I need to, I set chairs in front of the dog bowls and I have outlook covers. Yeah. I can't hurt her. Yeah. I can't hurt her. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. That is it. You know, you can get one of those like baby play pens. That's us. That's what I'm thinking for when we have a house. Like, we have room for that. Put her in the house. Yeah. You'll have like a baby safe room. Yes. Her bedroom. And you just have all of her toys in there. And when you need a nurse, you just pop her in there. You'll have a chair in there. You know, like a nurse and she can play. Yeah. One more memory I have of the early days of having two under two was the car rides. That screaming. that for some.
reason actually like gave me real anxiety was when they were both crying in the car. I was like, we didn't really experience that at too much. The both of them have been like great in the car. Oh, no, no, no. We all did not like that car as a kid. I was like a baby for like the first like two months and so that was really hard. I feel like a lot of some babies really hit the doona. You really? I feel like it was just whenever our car stopped it was like screaming Oh, it's from Oggi and then uh, then it would make my like the oldest I'm curious to see how that's going to be like how real reacts to other. Because now I've been able to have a lot of conversations with Griffin and Oggi. I've always told them I'm like, babies can't talk so crying is how they talk to us. And we like talk about and I'm like talk about things that they can do to help if he's like crying. But when Griffin was 13 months old, like, you can't explain that. There was a time where I was like, see did you hear her crying? Because he never reacted. I was like, do you hear that? Are you okay? He didn't care at all. He didn't bother him. So for real, am I not care? Yeah, I don't know. I was like, I feel like she was a cable. She was like, she's crying. It's not that bothered him either. It's just like he was also sad for some other reason in the car. Hey, I don't know if he is an impact. He could be crying because he was like, I actually, this was really sweet. He was watching. What was he watching recently? Gosh, I can't remember. My brain is simply not working. But he would, he like, I could tell that he was really sad. I think it was like a little kids movie. And he was like, would it be really sad if something happened to daddy? And I was like, yeah, that would be really sad. Yeah. And he was like, would it be really sad if something happened to mommy? And then he just started really just like, really? Dooms thinking. Yeah, which then I thought about. I was like, a lot of Disney movies have really sad elements that I feel like before. He wasn't necessarily thinking about. Or if he was thinking that I was like in their world, now he's like, this could happen to me. And now I'm like, nothing is safe. No. I literally was like, we cannot show CJ Lambo for time ever again because the mom dies. And then Lions King too. I was like, sorry, but we're going to be here for everybody. This is really. Can't get rid of us. Can't put those fears in your mind. Well, Addy, that's very exciting. We've known you for so long. It's so exciting. I don't know if you're a secret as of now. No Blake said I can talk about it, guys. Okay. I'm not, wait, this is, wait, this is breaking news. Breaking news. It's a girl. It's the amazing sister. Yes, I know. I'm excited. Um, hopefully everyone, hopefully you're doing Sunday dinner because we're going to tell everyone the, um, the name. Oh my gosh. Yay. That's exciting. Yeah. It'll be fun. Is it another B name? It is. Is it sure I've asked that? You can. I already asked her that. Sure. It's kind of a unique name apparently. So we'll see. Okay. I'm excited. But we like it. So you have to like it. We sure don't take it. It's exciting. Yeah. Two little girls. They'll be best friends. So I'm just looking at Gryffin and Augie. They're besties. So this was a good conversation. Not to scare people. It's just like, I think it's good. I know when told me like the hard parts of it. They're like, oh, it's hard. I know. Have your mom friends really at that point? I feel like no one went into like details of the things that were actually hard for them. They're just like, oh, it's you're just really tired. And I'm like, okay, but you're expecting that. The flip side of it is that you're struggling and you feel like you're, that's where I felt the shame because I was like, man, the only one that can't do this by myself. Whereas like if other moms had been like, no, I needed help at that point. Yeah. I was, it was a big adjustment. I feel like I wouldn't have felt as much shame. Totally. Or like the guilt that I felt. Yeah. And it's like the most rewarding thing in the long, but those first few months for me were really hard. I'm excited to hear how your two to three is and I'm excited to hear how your one to two is. I'm wondering for like, I guess two to three is, I don't know if it's, it's probably not as different as zero to one or one to two. Yeah. But I feel like the differences, they're both hard in different ways because zero to one, you're, and maybe you already said this, you're learning how to, you don't know what you're doing. Yeah, you're 90s. Yeah. And second one, you know how to do everything. You're just adapting to how to do it too. Like how to take care of another case. Yeah. How do I multiply myself? Yeah. And that's like, it's hard in both ways. So people who just say, oh, it's so hard. Or I want to know two under two. I feel like it's common these days to have two under two. Everyone says it's hard. Here's my thought. No one knows. No one knows both. No one has two under two. But you don't know how it is to have two under two. No one knows both sides. I will know unless they had, unless they had, okay, let's say had multiple. Yeah. And then they have three kids. So it's different. Or they have, you know, that's true. I'm just gonna live by that. Addie, I'm telling you two under two is difficult. I just want you to know that one before we start. I have 22. They have a 23-month-old student. Yeah, that's where I'm like, you know, I had two under two for 11 months and those 11 months were challenging. Yeah. So did you do a shift at two years and three months old? No, I would say it probably shifts more 18 months. Right. So, but you're under 18 months. We're 16. So you got two months of life. Not two months of I'm just I'm really fine. Braille's going to be excelling at everything. She's going to walk before she's one. She's going to start saying words. She's roaring right now. So she is really mad. She's like she was trying to convince her, convince her teacher to grow up people. She was like, oh no. And we're talking about how honorary Blake is on all the different rallying kids. Yeah. She went through a phase. We're in that phase. That's cute. So cute. I also think little girls in general adapt better to babies. She loves babies. She loves kids. She grabbed Bode's hand today and was holding it. I'm like, you're such a child. She's so much fun. She's like, she loves the bacon on the burn door. She goes, she's got such a sweet personality. You're going to be fine. I'm so excited for you. You're going to be great. And it's so sweet. I don't think we meet each other. It'll be great. It'll be so sweet. Yeah. Two girls. Two girls, baby. Two girls. We've got a few more things that we're going to talk about on Patreon in this topic of pregnancy and motherhood. So we're going to head over and have that conversation. If you guys want to hear more of sign up for our Patreon, it's $5 a month. We do exclusive content on every episode. I hate seeing exclusive content. Bonus content. It's not exclusive. It's just bonus. And we also have so many fun chats, but they're always hungry. We have like so many recipes in there. I love reading. Our book club is on there. An extended book club segment. So we do questions from Patreon. Like exclusive questions. Yeah, we do. We do. We do more voicemails. Well, they're not voicemails. I just read questions. But it's a party. I think that might be the initial launch of said. You guys are going to talk about Patreon? Um, no, she might, we might do a little first release with the yeah, that's a great idea. Get some. Yeah. Okay. Well, we'll head on there. We'll talk more about it. Okay. This show is sponsored by BetterHelp. BetterHelp's 2026 state of stigma report surveyed 2,000 Americans and revealed that 85% of Americans believe getting support is wise. Yet 74% say society discourages people from actually doing so, which that's kind of a crazy statistic. And I feel like when um, your therapy needs become personal is when you really take action. Yeah. And for me personally, that happened when I became a mom. I felt so much more responsibility for being the best version of myself every single day consistently. And I really felt like I had no space for these things. I was describing as like hiccups. I was like, oh, this is just something I struggle with. And I was like, I don't have to. And I don't have to go through this alone. My first stop was BetterHelp. And that is because they have made it so accessible. Whoever you are, whether it's online or through the app, they meet you where you're at, which I think is so cool, especially a lot of us. Have really busy schedules. We're working. We have kids. It's not easy to go out and find someone like this, but BetterHelp makes that happen on your timeline and in the comfort of your home. They give you a short questionnaire, which helps identify your needs and preferences. And their 12 plus years of experience in industry leading match fulfillment rate means that they typically get it right the first time. But if it just so happens that you aren't happy with your match, you can switch to a different therapist at any time from any of their other tailored recommendations. Which is I think really comforting from people. Do you think about, oh, what if I go and I don't like them? Well, you could just switch. Which doesn't, but also they have a really high success rate. Don't let Stig Mustain in the way of support start therapy with BetterHelp. Sign up and get 10% off at BetterHelp.com/always. That's better. H-E-L-P.com/always. Wait, wait, okay, before boys, sorry, last minute thing. Oh, yes. Okay, we have two different things. First of all, we'll say Abbie's is Abbie's is morning and then yours. At the gym, we had you put the bands on and then you were doing like side leg hip press and I was standing up because I didn't really like to do that. So I was just doing it with both legs. I'm standing next to where the little where everyone puts them back. Yeah. Abbie comes up and just smacks me the leg. I snapped the smack down and just go, I just pulled it like a rough bit and smacked her the leg. I was like, I'm sorry. I thought it'd be funny. I was like a little brother. She said that was supposed to truce itself. She just stopped her laughing at it. She's not doing it with her assistance, man. So stupid. It was like that hard. No, I was like, what have I just fell over enough? And then my other moment with Abbie this week is I had this with Blake the other day. Blake asked me how many presidents I could name on the spot while we're watching a TV show. He asked me that. How many presidents can you name? Don't do it right now, but guess how many presidents she could name? I think a lot. How many do we have 52? Yeah. I bet you can name 48. She can name seven on the spot on the spot. I have no, I didn't test it. You can do way more than me. She even knew that
- Do you know who the second president is? Was? - Ben Franklin. (laughing) - He was like, "I don't think I even big Ben Franklin." - I don't think so. - Yes. (laughing) - What's Ben Franklin? - Oh, people were never listening to this because we were smart, but. (laughing) - I'm so happy. Blake was like, "You're not so dumb." - But it was just funny when you were like, I was like, well, how many did you get? You were like, seven? - Seven? (laughing) - Five, two, ten, and I couldn't treat that. - Okay, let's be backwards. You can go backwards, let's do it. We have Donald Trump, Bajo Biden. - I forgot Joe Biden. - Barack Obama is older. - Because it's my most recent of my life. Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Clinton. - George Bush. - George Bush. Ronald Reagan. Okay, who's that guy with the glasses in between Reagan and Bush? - Kennedy? - John of Kennedy. - Hey, I'm gonna go JFK, Woodrow Wilson, Ben Franklin, John Adams, Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, can't forget him. - Are we still going in order? - No. - Is that mine? Is that mine or 19? - You're at, you're at, not. - You're at 14. - You're at 14. - 14. - So she, her brother, her brother. - I got stuck, I got, I got real stuck, real flustered. - Yeah, it was just the way that it was delivered. - She's like, how many, I was like, well, how many did you get? She's having it. (both laughing) - Seven. - I'm really bad at retaining historical information. - I am too. - No, don't, please do not get me wrong. I am not judging you, because I could not come up with many. But that was just so funny, because that was so real. Like honestly, like, when am I thinking about history or politics? - We were all in the middle of watching a TV show. - Like, pause, it made me guess. - And he's like, here, let me do them in order. - And I'm like, he could do all of this? - No, he got, he wanted more time to think. And I'm like, we're literally-- - He was watching a show. - Caleb is the same thing. He'll like pause the TV. And I'm like, I'm watching the show. You can go to your research on your own time. - I'm the pause. - Rest play. (both laughing) - Okay, back to boys, now I'm sorry. Those were two things you were supposed to talk about. - Well, I thought you were gonna get 48, so. - Thank you. - You're welcome. - You're smart sometimes. - You are smart. - You are smart. - Ask, ask, ask, Abby. - You ready for some voicemail? - Let's do it. - If you guys are new to the show, we always have a voicemail segment called Ask Abby's. And if you guys wanna call in and leave a question, it could be about anything. Questions, advice, whatever it may be. The number is 602-456-9690. We love hearing your guys voice. And it's fun being on our toes too. - Hello, my name is Kayla. I love your guys' podcast. We'd love to know your thoughts on this predicament. My husband and I are in. We have been married seven years. We have a dog who is seven years old. She's a great dog. But now that we have two kids, a two-year-old and a almost three-month-old, I want to get rid of our dog. And he does not. Again, she's a great dog, but she says a lot and barks sometimes. And it's just another thing to take care of. So yeah, who's team would you be on? - It's such a point of question. This is a point of question. - Hit a pole there, hit a pole there. - I'm gonna just talk about it. - Okay, I'm gonna Abby, I'll take this one. - Listen, I get it. Yeah, I get it. Okay, so I think you should keep your dog. I do think you should keep your dog. But, seven years, seven years is so long. Am I diet like that, too long? - No, my gosh, it's not where I was going. - Oh, boy, where are you going? - The dog is bonded to you. - Yeah, you shouldn't get rid of it. I'm saying you probably don't have that many more years with it. You've gotten the long front. I totally understand. We were gonna do a whole post-process. - Wait, how old are her kids? Let's get that out. - Three months old. - Three months old, that's all we need to know. - That's all I need to know. You will get past the rage in about three to four more months. We laugh, I'll be real laughing because I on the call. I was like, I want to talk about post-partum, how I just, I didn't have rage towards my kids. I had rage towards my dog. And it's such a real, real, real thing. To the point where I was like, oh, he's diarrhea. Maybe it's like cancer. I was like hoping death on my dog back. And then my dad was on my shoulder because my dad does not like dog. And he's like, just get rid of him, Abby. He needs to be on a farm, running free. And like, and I was like, you're right, dad, I should. And good thing I did is because I love him again. And he's an amazing dog. So give yourself a couple months, maybe a year. You're just really overstimulated right now. But yeah, I really, really strongly had dark thoughts about my dog for like six months. So just give us some time. - I did finally crack. - Yeah, I did finally crack and I owned up to it. I told Blake to put our dog on Craigslist. And if he was there by the end of the night, I was gonna get rid of him. - I put it on my Craigslist. - Because I was just assuring him out the door. - There's just a very specific reason. He hasn't bothered me at all. He eats my underwear. He eats every single one of them. Every single dirty pair of underwear. If it's in the hamper, digs it out of the hamper, eats it. And it's just the crop just gone out of all my praise on underwear. And I've had to reorder too many. And so I was just, and I one day couldn't find a pair of underwear. That sent me. That really sent me. I had a towel on. I was trying to just take a shower, right. Couldn't find a pair of underwear. (laughing) That weren't like grain of paint. - That sent you. - So that one sent me. Now I have to close my closet door so that he can't eat my underwear. - It's fine. - I said that her hamper needs a finger print ID to do the thing. - Yeah. - But it really doesn't make sense. - Rizzo, Rizzo, Rizzo, Rizzo, Rizzo. - He's like trying to crack into it. - Yeah. - Rizzo eats underwear, Rizzo eats the other things. - Yeah, always. - It's not for a while, but. - I made a whole video about the things my dog eats, the list is extensive. - I have an unpopular opinion. I do think getting a dog, like, while the puppy stage wasn't easy. I do think getting it once you have, they don't have a baby and you have a gap between your kids. It's kind of, it wasn't bad. - No, pretzels will overstimulate you. - Okay. - But pretzels doesn't bark that much. And I think that is what, that's what really overestimated me. And then it would be like, I'd be so exhausted. I finally get the kids down to sleep and I'd sit down to work and then lose to be at the door going, (laughing) let me out. - Yeah. - You go out. - Oh, so hold it. - I know, it's just like. - She got trained too. So I feel like that also really helped. - Nothing Louis has trained? - No. (laughing) - He knows trained. - He trained to train. - Yeah, he knows tricks, but he's not trained. - Well, I mean, also formally trained. Like, she went to university before. - Yeah, she's already, yeah. - It didn't help her a lot. - And she, I think it changed her whole temperament. She was less anxious. - Yes, she was. - So. - Yeah. - Yeah. - She's less anxious. So I feel like she's just more chill now. - Yeah, she's a great dog. - And Louis is a great dog, but, you know. - Prolonged very well. - So it's great with no walks. Just give it a couple more months. You'll feel differently about your dog. So keep your dog. - Hi, Abby and Abby. My name is also Abby. (laughing) And I have a question for you. And it's how do you move past a friendship as an adult that you feel like you've outgrown? When the time has changed things and their relationships, like more draining than this. And how do you move past that and how do you fill that space? Love y'all. - Thank you. - She's got a hope they move. I don't know. No, I'm just kidding. Bye. - Bye. - No, that's a really good question. I'd like that's hard. That's always hard to navigate. And if it, I'd be curious if it's a relationship if where you can have like natural space kind of just come in and ease things out and you can just kind of let you guys grow apart. - I feel like that's usually my passive aggressive. - I don't think so, though. - Oh, because that's what I was thinking. I think that's the kindest way to do it because I don't know if like, I mean, anytime you, if you were being honest, which I would say honest is usually the best approach, telling someone that you feel like you've outgrown them is not-- - No, it's not nice. - Not, not, like that's not gonna be well received. And that would also, that would be hurtful. - Super. - But it's true for you. That's what's true. And like we can also say that. But I would say if there's ever, and I'm not speaking from my own experience really, but my advice would always be when someone's like, I'm not enjoying, I'm not gaining anything. This friendship is draining. Like I would just say create space, naturally and gradually. - Yeah. - And I think that's also like for them too, it's like that gives them some time to find other friends. And not just be like, oh, I just had this friendship just like ripped off. I'm like, I'm craving community and like this person just completely disappeared on me. And so they can finally like, they can move a different direction too. And I feel like that's honestly how life naturally moves you through friends too. - Right. There's nothing natural or unnatural or wrong about that. - Totally. - I think it's a tip and maybe this is bad, but you just need to be a little bit more intentional about like the scheduling of how often you hang out. Like instead of, oh, just come on over whatever, be like, oh, things are really crazy, but like, hey, two weeks from now on the Wednesday, doing a hang out. - Make it more formal. - More formal. - More formal. - Yeah. - And that way you're still like hanging out, 'cause maybe you do like this person, and you still want to be friends, and you don't want to fully cut them off, but you don't need to be as tight as inner circle. And so just spacing out the time that you're gonna hang out, probably a good way to do it. - Yeah. I don't think that's passive aggressive. Oh, very good. - Hi, Abby, Abby, and Abby. My name is Jenna, I'm 21. I'm almost 32 weeks pregnant, and I'm gonna be a first-time mom. I'm also going to be a single mom. So I was wondering,
what recommendations or tips you have for like a bedside cart or night time feeding what you think I should keep that bedside and just some good tips for those kind of things. So thank you. Yeah, I feel like everyone uses those IKEA carts or whatever target carts. You had a good set up. I didn't need the whole cart. It actually was like kind of stressful for me to think about filling it. I just had a little caddy and that was enough for me and I had diapers and wipes and like one onesie and a period bottle. See, I kept it by my bedside for. I'm thinking more nighttime feedings. So I didn't keep a period bottle in there. And then I had Belvita. That was my one thing is I had a lot of snacks. You don't need as many snacks in there as you think. Well, then I was just eating so much at night when I wasn't hungry. I was just eating because they were there and I was like, I should eat them. I had my Belvita and I was like next time that's all due. I really liked having a lot of drinks that were like really hydrating because breastfeeding and postpartum in general. I feel like you're just really thirsty. Totally. Having a lot of drinks accessible at night time. Just having everything as as handy. Probably more so for a baby. I feel like at that point I was like yeah bottle, pinky, diaper wipes, everything. Don't hear my other thing. Don't worry about. I know I said I'm having a lot of gadgets this for me to see. But I'm talking about like ones that will make more so make it quicker for me to take care of the baby and not make it like feel like I have to do a million steps. So there's a difference between those gadgets because I think some of the gadgets that I'm like they're not easy. I'm like I feel like that is a scam. And also just making you feel like you need to do more. Then you don't I'm not going to heat up the bass in it. Like there's like a lot of gadgets that are like that's just adding more steps for you. I'm more like how can we get simplified and that's what the gadget is going to simple like streamline that process. And so I think for like your case having a game plan it's hard because if it's a first time you really can't have a game plan as much. But early on established like how can I streamline this and systemize it as much as possible? Because for me like it was really stressful waking up in the night. Like I don't know I remember just being like oh my gosh like what are we doing right now. It was really cool. I'm a deep sleeper too. So when the I would wake up I was like what do I do? Like streamlining it is like okay first I start feeding one side diaper change other side. Like making it just like a simple like I do this and then I do this and then I do this and then I do this and then I put you back in bed. Yep. That made it feel way more manageable when it felt really overwhelming because let's be honest we have to be real like it is so amazing having a baby but it is really overwhelming at the beginning when you're waking up all the time. Like that is an overwhelming feeling and especially in the middle of the night when you're tired and it's the sun is down. That feeling of overwhelming I would get those what do they call it. So down night time scary. Just systemize as much as possible and then that'll help you kind of figure out what you need to like physically buy your bedside. I really hope you have someone that you can like reach out to and don't be afraid to reach out to someone. If there's anything from is it this episode I hope that no one thinks that I'm like complaining or think that it's not a good idea to have many children because of the opposite of my thinking. My goal was simply to make everyone that feels like any type of guilt or shame or overwhelm to not feel alone in that because that I think is the the thing that makes it feel the most impossible. And like I think sometimes people look at us and like I put it's a lot of a highlight reel on media when we put out and it's like hey we need it help. Like yeah I need it a lot of help and so I think it's just just remembering that everyone needs help and doing it yourself I just want to encourage you like you're going to be you will know exactly what your baby needs and maybe it won't come in the way that you expect it to but like your nurses are going to teach you a lot at the hospital so don't worry like if you feel like you're going and you know nothing I feel like my nurses taught me so much my pediatrician taught me so much the internet will teach you a lot like whoever's helping you will teach you a lot and you're I think you're going to be amazed with yourself and how strong you are how resilient you are and that knowing that like hey I stepped up to the plate when it was time gives you such a confidence in yourself that I think you're going to feel so empowered with and I'm praying that over you and I'm really excited for you and this baby you're going to have an amazing relationship with this baby so have something for you too that makes you just happy like for me like having my kindle on dark mode and during those feedings at night I was like I can't wait to get back to my book like that made me feel excited it was like obviously bonding with my baby was like really exciting but at night I was like I don't want to bond oh I just watch tiktok so I could listen to a show or scroll on tiktok I think with that too yeah with like you saying the it's the highlight reel on social media I would say at least for the first seven days I did something different every single night with like and I did have a partner so it was a little different like Blake I think slept in bed with me the first night and then I needed him to get real because I couldn't get up out of bed so I need him to get her for me the next night I think I wanted to breastfeed on the couch because it was most comfy for me so Blake slept on the couch with Brielle and then I would walk out there and do it and then the next night when I was like that doesn't make sense I put her back in the room and I was I had Blake wake up and do her diaper and I was like that doesn't make sense and so every single night we changed it until we found the routine that worked for us so I feel like that's something to make you feel a little bit better that every single night could be completely different figuring out what your rhythm looks like yeah don't be afraid to switch things up or try new things yes yes it didn't actually dread night as much as I thought I would I actually was like and I'm a really deep sleeper there's just something in you and your babies there you're like I'm up yeah oh no I would be like I'm up right away yeah but it was freak me out it was actually like six weeks after then I was like oh shoot I didn't wake up but the first six weeks you're like I'm up let's go I'm still like that baby if one of my kids wakes up I'm like 100% awake no I'm not like that anymore Blake is not like that has never been like he's like I was like did you hear Brielle last night waking up at 2 a.m he's like he'll wake me up he's like you hear that I'm like no it literally gets the point where I wake up it literally is the point where I wake up like 60 seconds before they make a sound I swear where I'm like oh it's amazing a mother's intuition it's a kind of a nightmare adrenaline it isn't adrenaline wake up and you haven't heard anything you'd look at the monitor eyes are open and you're like Brielle's been doing that with her naps and I'm like oh she's laying there peacefully I'm like who was it someone's kid I was literally watching the monitor of their kid and their guys they were like asleep the whole time as she goes oh was angel that's funny I was like oh you wake the way their eyes blow in the monitors are
