I don't think that was a penalty I don't think that doesn't go in the the bag of I was surprised it was given in the first place to be honest. So I want to talk about the refereeing situation a bit because it has become a hyper fixation of spurs fans like there are people with tin foil hats A plenty out there at the moment and I think you can talk about this game in a situation that I What I observe from watching along with live football as I sometimes do but hadn't done for a couple of games is People in our discord now think that every foul against that should be a yellow card And they say things like Romero would see red for that and it's like guys come on not every tackle is a yellow card offense It's you know, sometimes sometimes sometimes I mean The thing is I I thought Some of those decisions were wrong like the Colomboany one I can see why the referee gave that because he lifts his hand up to his head to protect his face It's blasted his face and his hand goes up and the referees way behind play which I'll come back to in a minute And I can see why he might have thought that was humble in fact I'm not even 100% convinced that it didn't go hand-head irrelevant in my view Like that, you know, it's a natural reaction to let lift your hand up with it then wax Just let the play run and then we can do You can't come back and portray us out for the AR after the fact I think there were mistakes but I think all of those decisions that he made in my opinion were Defendable from a referee's perspective except for the foul on destiny doggie I don't know if you've seen that one where He comes across and there's an arm into his face and then studs right down his calf That is undoubtedly a free kick and it would have been a free kick in a really nice position Now I don't agree some people have gone further than that and said that should be a red card for denial of a clear goal scoring opportunity I don't agree with that because I think there's a defender which you could argue is covering rounds and I don't think Udoge is kind of I don't think he's going to get a really easy clear shot away And I think that it would be very hard to send the defender off there in my opinion But but but people are absolutely fixating on every incident that happens every week and there are people like making threads of Issue after issue after issue and foul after foul or free kick that wasn't given again again for us or penalty that wasn't given for us And my theory on this is I remember a time four five six years ago time under potitino for example when we were really Bucking great and we played some lovely football and every team that played against us would complain about the referee every single team that But played against potitinos Tottenham would complain that they'd been hard done by that we were dirty We were aggressive that we weren't getting yellow cards. We should get that They weren't getting the decisions that cost us the game in marginal one and two one-0 defeats two one defeats We won a lot of games two one so you know the odd decision made a big difference And so my theory is the reason we're hyper fixating on these decisions is we've got nothing else to fixate on We've got no chances. We've got no possession We're not having to fall in the opposition if the ref doesn't give us the game We're not going to get it we can't do it ourselves So we're relying on moments and the moments all cost us because we've got nothing else That so they're like undoubtedly they all cost us the goal that we we might have otherwise had We definitely wouldn't have had a goal in open play so we were lying on like a foul from a corner or whatever And and I think like people are extrapolating this and creating some kind of conspiracy in their head that doesn't exist It is just the teams that have the ball more and create more chances in the box get more decisions going their way Because it's proportionate and we do not have the ball in the opposition box So we don't get things going our way and and the slim the few chances we do to have the ball in the opposition box Result in us being so frustrated that we we direct that frustration at something that is just bad decisions across the board Like right. Yeah have a really hard job and it's the standard of referring at the moment is really bad. And when I say earlier, the referee wasn't up with the play. The game has become so fast in it's so frantic, so end-to-end. It's become increasingly difficult for referees to keep up. And like I would genuinely, I, exactly, I would genuinely advocate for a referee in each half now. I think when they did that, someone mentioned them with this called early, when they did that experiment with referees behind the goal, there was an improvement in refereeing and people generally quite liked that innovation. I'm all for that. Like get more assistance on the pitch, get an extra referee on, do away with Varen and deal with it that way as far as I'm concerned. No comments. No, no, no, no, I just agree. I just, I, sorry, the lack of the lack of response to me is just because I feel so miserable with that spurs, man. I get this is the kind of thing that I would be sort of maybe engaged with sort of the concept of if my heart wasn't absolutely broken by spurs every weekend at the moment. Like one point I do agree with, and this, this was made by Dimes and Trasem Discord. How mad should I be that no one except Van the Van went to fight Robby after the, the push? Like I think we could do a lot more in terms of like trying to influence decisions by being up in the referees grill more. Yeah, definitely think that's true. I do think, I do think the Robby push on Romero was clumsy from him. And obviously the consequences was a pretty bad injury to Romero. And it could have been a bad injury to Kinski as well. But I do think that that is sort of a moment of clumsiness where he's primarily defending himself from a clash rather than so much in being like, Oh, I can give Romero a good shove here and really hurt him. I don't think that it doesn't read as like a malicious nasty foul to me. And I don't want us to get too carried away. I read the same way as the son incident of a couple of seasons ago. Sure. Right. It's a coming together. And yeah, I don't want us to like turn into the Brian Robby hate club too much. Yeah. I also, I think what like van de Ven going to fight Robby. I don't think this I don't think fight is too much of an issue. I think fight is when you you kind of put it down to the lowest common denominator. Right now you got our tetra talking about poison in his neck and venom in his belly on what all the the rest of the nonsense about how they need to slap each other in their faces and bring their dinner the rest of it. All these sentences are fine and you know, it's it's not it is nonsense, but it's fine, but it's nonsense. But I think I'm more worried about our lack of lack of everything. Yeah. Automations. We did we are in focus last week. I was scared because I saw Kasey and McAllister in his automations and I was just like, Jesus, how are we going to do that with our players? But at no point did I see anything? Deserby like about this team. Am I alone in saying that? A couple of chapters right at the start. Again, the first 15 minutes was all right, but I guess my thinking with that is like, okay, I dislike deserving as a guy. I have concerns over deserving tactically on the defensive sides. And I guess there's also a conversation about like how the effects of man to man marking might begin to affect some of his possession play. Maybe if you look at his Marseille team, but I think that if deserving can't get your team stringered together some nice passes, then no one can. Then then no one in the fucking world can get you to string five nice passes together because that's that's what he does. That's what he's the best at basically. And yeah, again, a few nice minutes at the start. And then I guess like the the mental pressure gets to us after that. And it inspires. I think that you mentioned the Column-Wonnie nonhandable. It felt like after that we just weren't in the game. I do think the defensive issues about Zerby's game materialized in this game. And obviously that plays a factor because in an out possession aren't it completely untied. But I guess it's like, did we fail to play Deserby's football after the first 15 minutes because of that those mental issues and that that feeling of the pressure and the fear that that we talked about and Deserby talked about post match or was this squad just fucked from the start? Does Thomas Frank and do Ego Tudor get a little bit of weight off their chest because you just can't play football with this squad as it is at the moment? The injuries. I mean, we went out there and we played what I would consider to be three out and out number rates as a midfield and we played three out and out strikers as a front three. It's just so dysfunctional. And I think that earlier in the season when we saw lineups like that we would go, fuck, saked bloody Thomas Frank with his negative user football with his over focus on the defensive game, not playing Javi Simmons, not playing Mattie's Tale. We've got to get some technical ability into this team. And then Ego Tudor did it and we went, that guy's kind of weird, isn't he? And then he went and now Roberto Deserby's done the same thing. Left Javi, left hell on the bench, played just sluggers all over the place, played Richelason on the left who can't like cross the ball to save his life, played Colmwani on the right even though he like hates to be on the right visibly. Like he just can't, doesn't know how to move his. You're right. Right. We all hate him, including himself to be on the right. That's just a totally dysfunctional 11. At that point we have to say, well, there's clearly something up with the way that Javi Simmons trains, the way that Mattie's trains or behaves around training or whatever and say, fuck, what can anyone do? So these players are totally inept. That's what we're saying now. And it's not been helped by starting a season with a bad manager, they're moving to a manager who wasn't great as a kind of firefighter. So these players are inept. Well, we've had the pragmatist coach and we couldn't win games through pragmatism. We had the firefighter and we couldn't fight fire. And now we've had the tactician who plays beautiful football and we played miserable football. Do you know what makes all of this even worse? It's fucking West Ham. Who are the worst run club in the world, West Ham? Check out the stadium, check out this sponsors, check out the mistakes that they continue to make. But in January they went all-o with, we were in trouble and they went out and signed Castigiano's who I didn't think was great, but he's doing a really nice job for them. But Felipe, who does a good job for them. Disazi, who Chelsea people call him proper meat and potatoes defender, but that's what you need. You need meat and potatoes at this point in the season. And they just come in and then they hide the most meat and potatoes managed in the world. No, no. And he's just solidified them. And they were 13 points behind us, you know, when all of this stuff started to turn bad. And they've swung. There's been a 15 point swing. And that's, you've got to be impressed by that. And our inability to respond to that and our inability to respond to it in the transfer market on the pitch, off the pitch, is just pathetic. It really is pathetic. What West Ham have that we don't have, in my opinion, the most important thing that West Ham have that we don't have is Mateusz Fernandes' image to you, or do you can actually fucking pass a football. But also Pablo, I think, is a really good player. I mean, he plays a bit of number 10. He plays a bit of number 9. It looks really handy as attend them so far. Trick-a-ring-a-s. Yeah. Yeah. And they already had tricky wingers at the club. As are all injured, obviously. I mean, I'll give a couple of, I mean, I'm not going to go wholeheartedly on this because I'm not sure I fully believe it, but I'll just give a couple of potential reasons to be cheerful for the next couple of games. Okay. Go on. I think the intentions were there. Yeah. Like, we saw a lot of players putting their foot on the ball to bait the press. A lot of that. More than we'd seen. And they're just smacking it a lot. Sometimes, right. Even Romero, I mean, Romero played one of the best passes I've seen their sense about play in fucking years. This is in your list of reasons to be cheerful that the guy who's just done his MCL played a good pass. But what I'm going to say was he made a really good pass. But even he, who is one of our best ball players, was panicking and punching it longer times. So the intention was there, but it didn't result in. Maybe it just needs more time, Wendy. Well, and I think he got harsh lesson with Bourgh-Val. So, okay. Wow. But Bourgh-Val should never have been our player of a season last year. I think everyone agrees with that. It was a bunch of circumstances happened. And that was clearly our player of the year last year. Clearly. Agreed, which is why Buddy Yo's 30 quit to charity, but carry on. Anyway, anyway. Bourgh-Val is a good player. He's a good young player. He's a hot prospect. He is absolutely not. And never will be a number 10 in the Premier League. No. I also do have sympathy with the concerns about him in the pivot, because I think defensively he's a worry. But I think Deserb is probably learned a hard lesson, which is he cannot play as a 10. If you're going to play Bourgh-Val, it has to be in the pivot. He hooked Archie Gray, right? And we've seen Nathan's Archie Gray part-smap. Everything was sideways. I suspect that was why he was hooked. Someone, I think, a chef made the point in the discord that Archie Gray played one channel pass that Deserb just took issue with and immediately hooked him. I suspect there's a lot of truth in that. Connagar I can see the logic in moving him back into the pivot given the players available. I'd prefer the sum of there, but perhaps he wasn't fully fit. Galaga is one of the only remaining technically secure players who can actually pass the ball forward. But I think as we saw with the goal, his athleticism has lost him at the moment. There's left him at the moment. I don't know if it's going to come back, but I can see the logic there. I think the general ideas were there. but the delivery was severely lacking. You cannot play Colomani outwired on the right. I mean, don't play him at all as far as I'm concerned. Council alone now, the guy has been Abject in the league fast, absolutely Abject, and I'm sick of seeing him, but definitely don't play him on the right. It's not fair on him, it's not fair on the team, it's not fair on the fans. So I think that's another lesson, and that means he either has to move to a back three and play Poro or Spencer's right wing back, or he has to look to the academy and bring reset exand the Russell Denny into play on the right, or an alternative picker youth player and give them a chance. Not having Romero is gonna be a problem without ball playing, but I think many people agree that Romero has been really rash defensively in recent games, as shown by the fact that he's barely been available. I think Kevin Dancer coming back in is not the worst thing in the world. I think he's been our most consistent defender these past few months, and I definitely feel more secure defensively with him on the pitch. Obviously there's a drop off in the ball playing. I think the Zerby's system is quite forgiving of a slightly weaker ball player. As we saw in the Infocus last week with Lewis Dunc, Adam Webster, excelling up Brighton. So for me, I'm taking the first 15 minutes of the intentions as glimmers, I'm just praying, praying that as he gets more time with the players to show them what he's trying to build that they can start believing it and do something. But it's so bleak, it's so bleak. It's so late as well. It's so late in the season for them to find belief, which is why I'm scared. (drumming) I would quite happily bin off loads of these players and just play you kids and just go, that's it. Let's try and blood some of these youngsters through because there's no upside to play. Gallagher, you said his physicality is gone, so what's left? That's it. That's all he had, no? He's a ability to get up and down the pitch. And all we're doing is just sucking the life out of every single young player. I've never seen Archie Gray pass so sideways before. He's never struck me as an individual that does that. He gets the ball and kind of goes forward and tries to make things happen. That's why he's been a bit of a shining light for us because he's the only one with a bit of ump for a bit of intention to his play and for him to put out that kind of safe and awful performance is not a good sign. And we have to look at the subs as well. And look, this is mostly availability of players, but you're chasing again, you've just considered a goal and you bring on Shwale Palinia and Papsar. I mean, Gray and Bergval weren't playing well, don't get me wrong, but oh my God. Why not have all of Saisy there? We've seen him have his cameo, we've actually moved the ball forward and people got behind him and I've really thought that Deserb he was going to be a bit bolder with, I was really hoping to be a couple of youngsters in the bench and I'd be going, but be going, yeah, that's really good. There's something to kind of grip onto, but Shwale Palinia and Papsar to come on and try and help us move the ball forward. Honestly, are you kidding me? Baffling. Absolutely baffling. And then Javi Siemens didn't show up until the 85th minute. There's something going on there clearly. There's something behind the scenes that we're as fans not seeing. Yeah, he's rubbish. That's what it is. I do think he's been rubbish. I mean, even if we stay up, I think there is a discussion to be had about whether we should sell Javi Siemens. But he's. I trust him more than I trust Shwale Palinia to move the ball forward, right? Yeah, I agree. I agree to more than Papsar. That's likely, but I also think, I don't know, but I think maybe Javi Palinia has more goals and assists in the Premier League than Shwale Siemens. Probably. You know, that's a fact. Plus, everybody keeps talking about four managers. That's it. Four managers on a row. Or however they need. He's not like Shary Siemens. There is something happening with him that doesn't work. His best performances have been in the Champions League where the game is totally totally different. Yeah, 100%. Like, my theory on Siemens is that his decision making just isn't quick enough for the Premier League. And I wonder whether it ever will be. We saw in Nathan's video when we signed him that there was a lot of him being caught in possession because he wasn't making decisions quick enough. In the Bundesliga. In the Bundesliga. And that's in the Bundesliga. We've seen moments like there was a city game a few weeks back where it looks like things clicked for him, and he had a good feel for the tempo and then it just goes again. It's very afterwards in his, I don't know. There is some excuse in that he's not really been given a proper run of games to find his feet. Liverpool were still pushing vets every single game to see what they can get from him. They're not seeing anything there. So there is perhaps that, but when you look to the bench and you think, I don't have the faith that Shary Siemens is going to come on and save us. I think there is a possibility, maybe something might happen, but I think the possibility that Jal Palinio guesses head on something or just smacks one or does it over? - It's a bicycle kick. - Does a bicycle kick is just as likely to happen as Shary Siemens doing a nice frugal. So I don't disagree with that substitution. Like morally and aesthetically, and in my values of what I value as football, I completely agree with that substitution, but realistically, the likelihood of Palinio scoring is just as high as Shary Siemens scoring. - I also would 100% have brought on spence or Column Warnie. No spence is not the ideal solution, but at least he can beat a man and get a crossing. By that point, we were just so desperate. Yeah. - Can we talk about our crossings? - Of course, it's very uninspiring. - Can we just have a little reflection on our crossing, especially late in the game? Because I've never seen such bad crossing before in my life from destiny, from Poro. Richalison wide, he tries hard, he had one run in the first half where he was able to stretch his man, but then he got to the byline and just kicked his straight out. He's not a wing out. - He can't strike the ball if he's not in the six yard box. He like, he's scuffed every, like he got through for a five time. He just scuffed the ball every single time. He passes the ball to the keeper when he shoots, when he cuts in from the wing. When he first came to the Premier League, when he was at Watford and in his early days at Everton, he was this agile, dynamic winger. And now he is stiff as a plan. - Yeah. - Yeah. He needs to do some yoga. He needs to work those hip flexes and start doing some down dogs and stuff because honestly, he bends like I bend and I'm stiff as anything. He needs to go play for the middle. - The thing is, I agree with everything he just said. I still trust him to score a goal more than I trust Selangie. I thought Selangie had a really rough game. I'd be up for Rashadson playing through the middle next game, so thank you being on the bench. - Selangie played one nice pass to Rashadson, a little three ball early on. - Yeah. - And then he wasn't in the game for the rest of the game. I mean, obviously, if you're a centre-forward playing for a shit team, you don't get to see the ball very much, so whatever. Oh, we could change our forward round - Tink around the age of the shape. It's just there are no good options. There isn't a single good option he could have made at any stage. He doesn't have any options that are good. - And this is why I think ultimately we're doomed because if you look at West Ham, they can at least chuck the ball wide and bow in and some of them might do something and for now, this could pass the ball nicely. So plus added to that, they got some decent of backs who could head the ball. So I think if you look at West Ham, I think they're going to be safe now. Non-unforest have Morgan Gibbs White who can do something. They have pretty decent center backs. Some pretty nifty full backs. They have something there, which I think we'll see them through. - They've got the best set of midfielder in the league. If you ask me. - Plus they've got a good set of midfielder who could pass. So that's all right. I think it's between us and Leeds to go down and it's going to be a shit fight to see who can. And I wouldn't be surprised right if we lose every single game, but we beat Leeds and stay up because Leeds might lose every single game. So. - Yeah, I'll take whatever you're fucking doing, man. I'm very happy for him because like his, his perception across global football was that he was basically the worst keeper of all time based on him slipping a couple of times against Eletti. I'm very, very happy for him that he now has a decent performance. I mean, he's probably the only spurs player who could leave with his head held high from that game, right? So I'm just, I'm happy for him. It doesn't really do a lot for spurs. Well, I guess he'll play the next couple of days. I think he will. I don't think he will. No, he gets to really. I don't. I think that it depends on if he's bit. Yeah, but does he? Is he like houses, surgery recovery going? The, the, the, the, hernia surgery is kind of a bit of a, a dice roll in terms of recovery times from my understanding. We'll probably find out now that Kinsky's concussed and will miss the next couple of games and. Or the brand in Austin. I had a, a, re-sign, Alfie Whiteman. I had a hernia operation back in 2000. And then, um, obviously, I don't think mine was keyhole or done at Harley Street. It was just done up. I think it was quite lucky to have it done at a boobie. Took me three weeks to the car. Back alley. Back alley. Slice and slap it in. It's because what it does, they, obviously, they cut you open and then they get a bit of, they, they, they, whatever's come out of the hole, they stuff it back in with a rubber glove. And then they slap on a bit of mesh, sew that in and then sew you back up and that, that's, it's definitely not keyhole. It's a big scar. I've got, but it took me a few weeks to come back, but I'm not an elite athlete. But yeah, that's our doctor. We've had Nathan diagnose knees and now you've had me diagnosed hernias. There are positives. And they're, the positives are about the upside of playing in the championship. We have to sit on those. We can't, we can't spend those yet. So we have to keep up out of joy. And there are, I don't even think we can rely on those, to be honest, like, because, because, because it's all, oh, but we'll get to develop all our young players. But there is absolutely no evidence ever of Spurs player, Spurs, mental, just playing young players. We ain't never been fucking relegates the championship of all my years in different scenario. Listen, every week you come on this podcast and you name some player I ain't ever heard of and said that we should have played them instead of the guy with international gaps, right? But, but if we're in the championship next season, you'll be right. You watch us go and sign Carlton Morris so that we don't have to play Will Lanxia. Andy Roberts and Sonese. Yeah, yeah, the highest-play championship footballer of all time. Do you know what I think is the last play that Tottenham have in their hand is Vinay Venkatesh and needs to get on the phone. And he needs to, he needs to bring up the Premier League and say, look, Premier League. Do you realise the situation that if you relegate Tottenham, you are relegating a big six, but you're also relegating a conglomerate. And you're going to relegate this club with a massive fan base and you're going to replace them with how Southampton, Middlesbrough or Millwall clubs with tiny, tiny follow-ins that no one gives a shit about. No one is going to care about Southampton Chelsea. No one's going to care. But why didn't with with Pogmore? No, no one's going to care. No people in this country will care about Millwall versus somebody, but nobody globally is going, no one even knows where Millwall is. And you are going to reduce. It is the only Italian in Spurs podcasting world, suggesting that we do a dodgy deal with the Premier League. You need to get on the blow out. You need to get on the blow and so you are going to severely harm the international brand of Tottenham. If you don't start giving us the Premier League, sorry, the Premier League, if you don't start giving us some penalties, sending off a few individuals and making sure we get points because I can guarantee you that's couchier. Nobody in no it was the game here was 8am. No one in South America is getting up at 8am to watch whole versus Sunderland. Nobody, nobody. So you need to fix it. So Tottenham don't get relegated. Thank you very much for the Premier League. Ving and Vinay, do something, get on the blow out. That's what I would do. If you can't fix matches and you can't sign players, what can you do? If you can't fix matches, fix them properly. Get their elites involved. There's too much money at stake to relegate Tottenham. Not just for us. Okay, we're going to do one question and then we'll draw to her close because there's nothing to be cheerful about this week. This is quite an interesting one. It's in relation to some of the discussions we've had over the previous couple of weeks, but it goes broad. So this is from Kavy Duckett who says, "I understand the extra inch wants to move on from the controversy to surrounding Roberta, does Erbys hiring, but I have an earnest question and appreciate your thoughts on. What would be your personal or the extra inch is collective line, the ceasing association with Tottenham HotSpur? So I'm trying to understand where you draw the line. If the club continues to make decisions you view as morally disqualifying, which seems more likely than not given recent history, what would need to happen for you as a podcast to step back in the meaningful way or to reconsider the relationship entirely?" You know, we've had a lot of people say in response to our deserved conversation that if you really believe in the cause, if you actually believed it and weren't just virtue signaling, you'd stop podcasting, you'd walk away. That's genuinely been the response from from a hand of other people. What would make you walk away Nathan? I don't know man, I don't know. I think that basically being a supporter of any club is kind of murky waters, right? Club in any sport. But that's pretty cool. Yeah, it's a nasty dirty place filled with awful people and it's just designed to suck as much money out of fans as possible. That's what it is. I don't support Tottenham HotSpur limited. I don't support Enoch. I support the club, but like that is kind of a bit of an aferious concept because what do I even mean when I say that? Right? Obviously, it's the fans and it's the players. And you don't get any time all the fans and all the players? Yeah. Oh god, mate. Fucking out, right? But like, obviously the reality is that this sort of wishy washy concept of the club is deeply tied into a corporation that until very recently was owned by Joe Lewis, who is up to some fucking awful things in Patagonia, by the way, the the morality of supporting Tottenham HotSpur crossed a line a long, long time ago before we were podcasting, right? And so yeah, what would cross the line for me if I felt like I couldn't form that separation in my head. If I felt like that there was something innate to the club by which I mean not the corporation that owns the football club, the club itself that I couldn't distance myself from. But I feel like in a way that rather than taking a step across that line, we have etched away in a road at that line over time until I haven't realised that we're over it until I was already there and I'm already made my living out of this podcast and and and and and surrounding myself with Spurs, right? I think that it isn't the moral duty of the fans to bear responsibility for the wrong doings of the players, the owners, the coaches, the non-playing staff and even other fans, right? It's not my fault, but it is a really tricky one to navigate. To be honest, there is very little you can do. There is no ethical consumption under capitalism and I want to be careful that I'm not just using that as an excuse to do whatever I want. That's not what I'm saying. I don't think it's the case you should strive to do as little harm as possible in reality, but it's also just not your fault that football and Spurs are full of awful cunts. It's a bit like the society meme, right? You've seen the meme, we should improve society somewhat, yet you participate in society curious. Right, very intelligent. Right, and so the the the the implication of that would be that like by being within Tottenham Hotspur as a fan, I'm striving to push the fan collective and in fact I'm using my platform as this podcast to push the Tottenham fan base towards a morally sound, a rallying call. But I think that there's a bit of delusion if I'm going to try and make that argument. I think so too. I think we do have a, if you feel strongly about something and you have a platform, then I think it's absolutely your right to use that platform to make calls for your beliefs. And like that's what I've tried to do, but I'm not an idiot. I don't think that's going to change anything. Like I'm yeah, as a phrase, pissing in the wind most of the time. Yeah, that was yeah, go on, buddy. I was going to say that there was once a dream that was Tottenham. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish. It was so fragile. And I think I dream that Tottenham will be great one day. I dream and I hope that Tottenham will be fantastic and I dream and I hope that Tottenham will build this team that I love these individuals and these players who just embody everything that I find important in Tottenham. And it is a dream. It will probably never happen, but it's the dream that keeps me coming back for more. It keeps me talking about Tottenham. It keeps me thinking about Tottenham. And as long as I'm alive, I will continue to dream that Tottenham will be beautiful. And that's what keeps me supporting. And it's also what will forever keep me supporting this club and it will keep me talking about this club forever and ever. The dream. We live in a really rotten age. The world is a horrible place to be in a moment. And it's easy for me to say that. Like my life's relatively unfazed. There are people suffering in egregious ways across the globe. And if your way of distracting yourself from that is to watch a silly sport, then I think you should continue watching that silly sport. The problem is the silly sport has been sucked into the dirtiness of it all. And we all keep up a bit of a facade. We have to pretend that it's not. We have to pretend that it's separate. We have to pretend that it's simply a distraction from the everyday realities. And it's not. But if we all pretend, if we all keep it up, we can keep it going a little bit longer. And I think that's what we all have to do. We just have to imagine basically fucking other. I kept that as way more bleak than I expected it to be when I started talking. But it's kind of how I feel. Like sport is football in particular. It is not a pleasant sport when you actually consider what goes on beneath the actual 22 players kicking the ball around the pitch. But when you're in the moment of watching those 22 players on the pitch, it can be something magical and innocent, especially if you pretend.
