175. Talking about nothing 18

The speaker shares his excitement about sunny weather after two weeks of rain in central Texas, which allowed him to enjoy riding his new motorcycle. He talks about his frugal habits, using the phrase "ride it until the wheels fall off" to explain how he uses items like shoes and phones until they are unusable, contrasting this with consumerist trends. He then asks listeners for topic suggestions to help him create more engaging content for future episodes. Shifting to sports, he celebrates Manchester United’s victory over Liverpool, which secured a Champions League spot, and discusses the team’s season performance and potential managerial changes. A significant portion of the transcription describes a motorcycle accident he witnessed, where a neighbor was hit by an SUV while waiting to turn. The rider survived with a fractured ankle, but the speaker stresses the vulnerability of motorcyclists on the road, especially with distracted drivers. He warns that even protective gear may not prevent serious injury or death at high speeds, urging caution. Overall, the transcription blends personal anecdotes, reflections on simplicity, sports enthusiasm, and a sobering reminder of road safety risks.

Well, what's going on my friends? You are listening to real English radio and this is talking about nothing Number 18 and I'm coming to you on another Beautiful sunny day here in central Texas man And I hope you can hear the excitement in my voice because God damn it. It was raining all Last week, bro. I swear to God. I buy this fucking motorcycle and four out of seven days. It's pouring rain Four out of seven days of the week for the last two weeks some fucking bullshit might fucking bullshit, but After much much much rain we got two days of sunny skies, you know what I'm saying? So I've been out on the bike just riding around the city I'm still learning you know what I mean It's only been a couple of weeks that I've been riding this thing and I feel comfortable in basic situations ripping the streets and stuff like that but there are still many things that are unfamiliar to me many skills that I have not dominated yet so every time I get on that bike and Head out somewhere to learning experience, you know what I mean, but I'm enjoying every goddamn minute of it Yesterday I was riding my bike most of the day with no particular destination Just ripping them streets man and went to the mall and got some shoes and a new hat Which is not like a common thing for me. I really don't go shopping a lot especially not in physical stores most of the shopping I've done over the past few years has been online Which you know as a modern marvel when you really stop and think about it the fact that you can get on a website Look at a catalog of products click a few buttons and that shit just shows up at your house in the next few days It's fucking incredible but I went out to the mall I needed some new shoes and I think that's the exception is like shoes I had to take the buy online because you got to try them all and even if you know what size shoe you wear You want to try the shoes on see how they feel walk around a little bit before you you know make the purchase And I honestly can't remember the last time I bought a pair of shoes. I Mean real I'm a come on the type of person that like I'll buy a pair of shoes and Rock them hose to the wheels fall off You know I'm saying and so that's let me explain that because when we say use something or ride something into the wheels fall off It's a it's an expression that basically means use it until you literally cannot anymore. I Don't know if it comes from Driving cars or riding motorcycles or or what it has to be something with wheels, right? but just think about buying a car and Instead of being the kind of person that buys a new car every year or every three years or something like that you buy one car and you drive that shit until it's so old and beaten up and and Worn down that the wheels literally fall off the car forcing you to buy another one That's what you can imagine when somebody says ride that thing to the wheels fall off same thing with the motorcycle same concept But you can also use that or at least I use that for other things like cell phones There are people that get a new iPhone every single mother fucking year. Why I don't know I really don't know Because there's nothing new about the fucking phone But they're like oh the 17 just came out. I got the 16 last year. I got it upgrade, you know what I mean Tony Kazin is not like that Before I've just got this 16 I had the iPhone 12 mini and the only reason I got the 16 is because my 12 was You know the wheels were starting to fall off that motherfucker, you know I'm saying like it wasn't holding a charge the charging port was low key broken So I had to hold the charger in a particular position just for the phone to charge properly It would stop charging in the middle of the night because I'm asleep and can't hold the cord and whatever position So it was just it was more of a pain to keep the phone Than buying a new phone would be does that make sense? So yeah, I rode that motherfucker to the wheels fall off and then I bought a new phone. I'm kind of like that with shoes I'll buy a pair of shoes and just wear them until you know, I can't wear them anymore You know I've said and that's like I Understand the people that have like 50 pair of shoes and 20 pair of jeans and a thousand t-shirts like I get it I get the desire for like a Variety of fashion choices, but personally I don't really rock like that. I typically buy Versatile pieces of clothing that can be mixed and matched with what I already own and the fact that Basically everything on own is black Makes it pretty easy to you know buy something that'll match everything I already have but I'm not constantly buying new clothes, bro Like for what? For what you know, I mean And that probably makes me sound like an old man, you know, I mean like you can only wear one pair of shoes at a time What do you need 50 pair of shoes for and it's like all right grandpa fucking relax, okay relax? So I get it. It's just it's not really my style, bro But anyway, I did buy a new pair of shoes. I'm loving them and I probably won't buy another pair for fucking five years Because that's how I get down bro. I like to keep it simple. I don't want to have a bunch of shit. This is the thing. I honestly most of my money is not spent on stuff like clothes and new phones and and shit like that. It's usually spent on cigarettes and caffeine and Food that's about it, bro. That's about it. You know what I mean like all my hobbies don't require me to constantly spend money I don't like spending money for no reason. So I keep things simple, bro. I keep things simple Because you know this they say is not how much you spend. It's how much you save so I don't think there's anything wrong with spending money It's not like you can take it with you to the next life if you believe in that kind of thing But that also doesn't mean just spend all of it as soon as you get it as fucking dumb. We're not millionaires here You know so um Why am I telling you this? I forgot what else you been talking about oh Right I went to the mall and got some new shoes and new hats and all the things right? So spend riding my bike all weekend spend fucking fantastic man You don't appreciate sunny days until you've had two weeks of straight rain You know what I'm saying? I don't understand how people live in places like Seattle, Washington or London, England where it's raining all the fucking time the sky is gray all the fucking time I want to kill myself, bro. It's just the fuck The fuck you have to be inside all the time or you're just wet all the time was your only two options Inside going crazy or outside getting soaked Fuck that Anyway, man. I hope y'all are doing good. Let me know in the comments where you're where you're listening from And how things are going in your neck of the woods and speaking of the comments section. I need your help y'all let me Take a quick break from the transmission to request a bit of assistance from you the listeners my friend I need your help with topic recommendations because I found in recent weeks that Although I have a lot of topics I could touch on I Haven't really found any that are necessarily Inspiring to write an episode about or sit down and talk about or even do research for you know what I mean Talking about nothing is one of my favorite kinds of episodes to record always a lot of fun And I know you guys seem to enjoy these as well, but I Know that there are other kinds of episodes that you guys appreciate and would like to hear more of so stop what you're doing Go to the comments section YouTube Spotify wherever you are and just say hey Tony I like these kinds of episodes. I'd love to hear more of that or I'm curious about these topics I'd like it if you talked about these things, you know what I mean that would be a very helpful in the coming weeks or months when thinking about Which topics to touch on and what kind of episodes to record all right? So yeah, do me that favor go to the comments and let me know what you want to hear on real English radio All right now getting back to the transmission got a lot of shit to talk about today man And one that is near and dear to my mother fucking heart is manchester United goddamn it secured that champions league spot against Liverpool at home Three to two goddamn it. It was the first half. I will say it was a pleasure to watch You know, there were two really scrappy goals Kuna With the first goal and Shesco with the second goal. They were not very beautiful goals. They weren't very technically advanced or you know Easy on the eyes. Let's say but the ball went in the back of the net and any football fan knows That's all the fucking matters. So we were flying high man. We started the game really good Liverpool looked nervous. They looked Disconnected they look like they just didn't know what was going on. They look like they were trying not to lose the game And as opposed to trying to win the game So we went in at half time to nill up which they say is one of the most dangerous scores That you can have in a game of football Two nil is the hardest to defend the easiest game to lose is when you're winning two nil because you're you scored just enough To feel comfortable and confident that you have control over the game So you kind of take your foot off the gas and you get complacent and then you get hit with the counter attack And now it's two one and now everybody's a little bit rattled right starting to lose that confidence starting to lose that focus and bang Now it's two two and you're like holy shit. We might lose this game. You start to lose belief You start to lose your shape you start to lose your discipline and Then the other team comes and they score through two and the game is fucking over but not today Not today ladies and gentlemen. Liverpool came back. It was two two and Kobe May new a very underrated midfielder with a lot of potential a lot of potential this kid has came and And got us that game winner You know, I'm saying it was a beautiful thing to see at home against fuck gas liver pool bro Made my fucking day man made my day so man united currently in third place most likely gonna stay there and Secure that champions league spot now as I mentioned in the last talking about nothing. I think that Us not being in any European competition this season was a big part of the reason that we made it so far or done so well In the Premier League also carrot coming in as manager had a big part or played a big part in that as well But it'll be interesting to see what they do as far as transfer business during the summer and How we perform over an entire season being involved in the FA Cup Premier League I think the EFL club and champions league, you know, we got to fortify that squad cause the Mito's leaving Who's been a rock in midfield scored a lot of important goals this season too? And finally we have to see if they're gonna give care of the job if they don't like I I don't know man I don't know How can you have faith in the club at that point if you don't give this man the fucking job, you know what I'm saying but We're gonna have to wait and see all I know is man you beat Liverpool and it's never a bad day when man you beat Liverpool, you know All right Moving on Speaking of riding bikes all weekend in this beautiful mother fucking weather man speaking of I unfortunately saw a motorcycle crash with my own eyes just this past week. I think it was Monday or Tuesday this past week One of my neighbors rides motorcycles and he has this big Harley Davidson I think they called it a road glide as it kind of bike He has a very big very loud very expensive bike that he's very proud of because he put a lot of money into customizing it and fixing it up and everything and I was going to lunch I was leaving my place going to lunch and about to turn onto this main road and He was turning off the main road So he was about to turn left onto the street where I was sitting at the corner So I see him pull it up and come to a stop and he's waiting for traffic to pass because he's turning across What would you call it oncoming traffic? I hope that makes sense So he has to turn left, but he's sitting there waiting for all the cars to pass So I put my head down for half a second To see what gear I was in I mean first gear all right I look up and as soon as I look up I see this white SUV probably going like 45-50 miles an hour Cut across like my field of vision and I hear this loud crack This really loud crack and I see the dude on the motorcycle fly about 10 to 15 feet Away from his bike the bike is going flying it flipped three or four times bike got destroyed bro I'm talking like the fenders came off The wiring was all messed up fucked up the wheat bent the wheel and this dude is laying there like Layed out with this helmet, you know Not sure what the fuck is going on. I'm sure he passed out or lost consciousness for a second because he laid there for a good little minute and It was like it was surreal like I'm sure If you've driven for a number of years or even just as a passenger we've all probably seen a car accident at some point You know what I mean, but seeing an SUV traveling at a considerable rate of speed Collide with a kid on a motorcycle It's fucked up man. It's fucked up. It all happened so fast It happens so fast and you just see his body flying. He's a big boy. He's not like a little dude He's a big boy and it's still sent him flying several feet Away from his bike. That shit was surreal So the driver stops and gets out three or four other cars stopping and get out Everybody's trying to get him off the road make sure he's good. They get his helmet off which they probably shouldn't have done the ambulance comes Take him away and then they roll the bike into this the Sarandum parking lot Where the bike is still sitting because that motherfucker's total bro that bike got fucked And bike got fucked. There's no riding that bike anytime soon and I just saw him yesterday In the parking lot kind of looking at his bike messing around with it and I just got back home So I walked over there to check on him see how he was doing. He's on crutches now fractured his fucking ankle and He was so excited because he got the radio to work on his motorcycle The rest of his fucked, but he somehow got the radio to turn on and play music so he was super happy about that and He's convinced that he can fix the bike by the end of the month and be back on it as if nothing ever happened so We'll have to wait and see If that actually happens, but it was a real thing man. It's a real thing. I Does no bro's lucky to even have walked away from that and see so I asked him like What had actually happened because I didn't see The actual car collided with the bike because there was a car in front of me Waiting to turn as well so I could see Part of him on his bike and I saw the car that hit him Approaching but I didn't see the actual collision because the car in front of me was in their way So I had thought the whole week that he turned into Oncoming traffic and just wasn't paying attention to the fact that there was an SUV Headed straight for him But so when I saw him yesterday I asked him like what the fuck happened? How did how did this person hit you? And he said that as he was waiting to turn he pulled his bike slightly into the lane of Oncoming traffic he wasn't moving but the front of his bike was in the lane That the car was traveling in and so the car Either didn't see the bike or didn't notice how far out the bike was into his lane and So the car necessarily wasn't necessarily doing anything wrong or the dude driving the car Wasn't necessarily doing anything wrong He was just driving as he should have been but didn't notice the bike creeping into his lane and it was impossible for him to avoid If he hadn't noticed the bike was there so he just drove straight into it so Unfortunately, it was biker error that led to that accident and You know just just to remind you you got the fucking stay safe out there bra Got to stay there's so much more at risk When you're riding a motorcycle like anytime you get in any vehicle to drive on the street especially American streets There's danger everywhere It just is what it is people are texting and driving people are drunk driving people are driving sleepy They're distracted they're thinking about the argument they have with their wife or fucking how they Didn't pass that job interview or whatever the fuck people are stressed about bros a lot of shit on people's minds And they go into autopilot sometimes and they're driving their cars Like if you've been driving for a while. I'm sure at some point you've had that experience where you're driving your car and You kind of like zone out your brain goes to some other place because driving once you've been doing it for a while It's actually very easy to do it's easy to drive a car So your brain kind of Divert some of its resources to other shit that you need to think about or deal with at some point So your body's on autopilot kind of controlling the vehicle your eyes are still looking at the road, but your mind is somewhere else and It feels like 30 seconds go by and then you kind of snap out of it you come back to reality and you're at your house And you're like how the fuck did I get here? You ever had that experience you just driving along you kind of zone out the next thing you know You're at home and you don't remember Driving to the house you don't remember like The route that you took or none of that It's just like you kind of snap back into reality and you're in this new place like holy shit Did I just drive this car? Because I don't have any memory of it. You know, I mean, I'm sure some of you at least Have had have had that experience kind of a scary experience too like Realizing your brain was somewhere else and at any point Because you weren't really there paying attention you could have crashed into somebody somebody could have crashed into you people could have died You know just because you were basically asleep at the wheel And so when you think about riding a motorcycle All that same danger all that same risk, but if something goes wrong, there's nothing to protect you, bro Like of course we wear helmets people wear the protective jackets and the motorcycle pants and the boots and the gloves like You're supposed to wear all those things Most of us don't but you're supposed to wear all those things but even still bro if you're traveling 75 80 miles an hour And something goes wrong Like there's nothing nothing's gonna save you bro Nothing's gonna save you if you're on a public we're talking like city streets I'm not even talking the freeway because the freeway is arguably safer than city streets because there's less going on and everybody's traveling in the same direction You really just adjusting left to right And you have to worry about people cutting you off and stuff like that But there's so many more variables on a city street with stoplights and stop signs and side streets and alleyways and you turns and and all that shit There's so much more that can go wrong. So if you're speeding on a city street Let's say it's 70 miles an hour brother brother Fucking armor jacking and pants are not going to save you bro your bones are still gonna crack at that speed You know what I mean If you fly off and hit your head like the helmet may it may do something but There's no guarantee And if you're coming you're flying through an intersection and an SUV a fucking 4-F150 runs a red light who's also going 65 miles an hour I don't know bro. You might want to make your peace with whoever you believe in because you're about to see him real soon You about to see him real soon, so you better fucking make your peace got damn it. I don't care how much of gear you got on If you get hit the right way at the right speed your fucked your fucked best case scenario You die best case scenario Worst case I don't know you fucking you live the rest of your life paralyzed from the waist down from the neck down dramatic brain damage Fuck in a bro You imagine and you had a wife and kids to take care of or some some elderly parents that you're taking care of and you just you lost it all On two wheels holy shit, man Yeah, it's just real, you know, but what? motorcycles are a lot of fun, you know So you kind of got a you know fucking way the risks got them it because every time you get on that bike you're rolling the dice You know what I mean you're rolling the dice and just in case you don't understand that expression You're I'm essentially saying every time you get on the bike you're gambling You know because if you think about a paradise you go to the casino you're at the crap table you shake those dice and you roll them Trying to hit that seven There's a chance that you get it as a chance that you don't you know that's what gambling is all about the game of chance So you're gambling or rolling the dice Every time you take that bike out onto a public street You know what I mean? And that's just that's a choice that I think every Rider or I hope every rider is conscious of and you kind of just accept it, you know and Try your best to ride smart Well some of us anyway But yeah as I said it's a lot of fun then what's life without a bit of risk, you know, I mean fuck it. I gotta die somehow All right, enough of that Moving on another thing I wanted to touch on this is something that or This what I'm about to say was inspired by something I witnessed yesterday Which was I went to go get some lunch at this place near This place near my place This restaurant near my place and it's like a like a cafeteria style restaurant where there's a bunch of different food options And you go get your food and then after you pick out the food that you want you go to this counter and The cashier rings up all your items and you pay and then you go eat or then you take it back to your house or whatever you want to do so Yesterday I went to this place. I got all my food. I'm ready to pay And the lot there's multiple lines, but the one that I got in There was nobody in that line except to do that was already paying and I didn't understand why but as I approached the cashiers Counter I quickly understood why nobody wanted to get in this line and it's because this dude He didn't have any food that he was paying for he just bought a bunch of drinks Which was strange because it's like why would you come to this restaurant just to buy a bunch of Drink just go to a gas station or the grocery store or whatever, but that's what he was doing He decided today's the day I go to a restaurant to buy a bunch of drinks so he has like Literally 12 13 drinks on this counter and the cashier is scanning them all and he's trying to find his credit card and she looks so annoyed That he has so many items that she has to like scan and wait for him to pay for And so as I walk up to the line I see that she looks annoyed I see he's kind of confused trying to find his credit card and she the cashier looks at me and she kind of just Shakes her head showing how annoyed she is and she's like you see what I have to deal with look at this And I look at him and I'm looking at all the drinks and I'm like shit It's a lot of drinks and I'm kind of just laughing at the situation Like why the fuck do you have so many drinks bro? Like what are you doing? And so then she looks at me and says that and I kind of just chuckle about it because it is like a Amusingly annoying situation that she's in I found it kind of funny that she was even annoyed by it But then more and more people start to get in the line that I was in there's three or four guys behind me now and As this guy's you know looking for his card and she's he's putting the drinks into a bag that he can take away She keeps looking back at us and line like shaking her head. She's like do you believe this look at this? I can't believe this and she's just like Being unnecessarily shitty About the situation and looking at us as if we're supposed to get on her side and get mad at this guy who's buying a bunch of drinks As if we're all supposed to be collectively annoyed because she's annoyed She's trying to like bait us into being on her side to be annoyed at this guy, which I found distasteful I didn't like that Because I get I've worked in food service before sometimes you have customers that make ridiculous requests or make your job Harder than it usually is and that can be annoying but to like try and humiliate the dude For buying whatever it is he wants to buy and you're now annoyed because you have to scan 12 items instead of two like I just don't see that as an as a reason to to be a bitch to be like Root and and shitty about the situation like looking at other customers and lying to me like isn't this guy a beat look at this guy Isn't he a piece of shit for buying 12 drinks at a restaurant with no food? Fuck these guys and she did that like three or four times looking back at the line just Just shaking her head. Oh, can you believe look at what I have to deal with oh my god And then she finally as he pays for everything he's got all the drinks in one bag He asks for another bag because you know 12 fucking drinks in one little plastic bag There's a chance that they fall through the bottom of the bag just because there's so much weight So he asked for a second bag so he can double bag all his drinks and she falls out the bag And she's like you know what he can do it himself and she throws the bag at him She threw the fucking bag at him and that that really took me off bro that really took me off He was cool about it like he didn't let it offend him or he didn't take it any kind of way He took that second bag. He looked back at us and lying and was like I'm sorry y'all it's my bad Thank you for being patient and he walked away And that I don't know bro that shit just didn't it didn't sit right with me The fact that he was so cool about it too made it even worse. I'm like I Don't know just I don't even know how to explain How it made me feel to witness that type of shit, you know not even that moment in and of itself, but that kind of shit, you know Root people in general, but like a rude service worker like you're literally being paid to scan these items And because somebody has more items than you would like to scan it one time You're just gonna be a bitch about it and like try and get the whole Everybody in line on your side to try and also be fucking assholes to this dude because he decided he wanted 12 drinks today And you're gonna try to humiliate him Because really you're insecure You know like the line is moving hella slow cuz and this is kind of what proved it to me like when I got up to the line scanned all my items and I only had two So boom boom scanned I pay she was like, yeah, you see how fast I actually am you see how fast I am I'm like okay I just walked away so in my mind is like she was insecure About the fact that the line was moving so slow and she in her mind everybody's mad at her Because things are moving so slow And so because she's insecure about that she tries to push it on the customer and it's like no this guy's the asshole He's the reason the line is moving so slow. It's not me Let's all look at this guy and call him a piece of shit Because he has 12 items that I have to scan and he can't find his credit card. Let's all say fuck this guy I'm not the problem with him, you know that was my read on the situation Just the and most people who are kind of shitty to others really rude really arrogant Try to humiliate other people and put them down there that they're the most deeply insecure people I could tell she's just a deeply insecure person We probably didn't have a great relationship with her father if I'm being honest Probably doesn't have much love or affection in her life You know, so to feel better about herself just to put other people down That shit really just didn't sit right with me, bro, and what irritates me is that people like that are just Allow to exist amongst us, you know, just shitty human beings Just all day just being shitty to people and there's no consequences, you know what I mean? No consequences Especially when it's a male female dynamic, you know what I mean? What are you gonna do in a situation like that? Because man-to-man like there's there's a certain level Or how can I say that you can only be so rude or so shitty From one man to another before it becomes an actual problem like an actual situation, you know what I mean? Where one man might end up putting his hands on the other man or something of that nature But in a situation like that, you're like, what are you gonna do? What are you gonna do? You know? It's, I don't know. That shit irritates me. That she's just allowed to be shitty like that. Does that make any sense to you? The story I just told. And you find that a lot of places you go. I understand what it means to work in food service and be on your feet all day dealing with cool customers and shitty customers. And so so customers and convenient customers like, I get that. But I don't understand the idea of being shitty to everyone because you're unhappy with your situation. That I don't, I mean, I can't say I don't understand it. Psychologically, I guess I do, but I just can't get behind that. So you go to a restaurant or a gas station or wherever, somewhere where the employee is supposed to serve you the customer and they're just being shitty, just being a dick, just being an asshole. That shit, I don't know why, bro. I don't know why it just fucking irritates me. You know, get violent impulses when I'm in front of people like that. 'Cause like, why are you allowed to behave this way? I think it's the question that runs through my mind. Why are you allowed to do this? Why have you not been punished for this yet? Why have you not been corrected yet? You know what I mean? And that's, when I hear myself say that I felt about this a lot, is it because I think I'm morally superior to these people? Possibly. I don't necessarily see it that way, but possibly. But it's not like, I'm saying this 'cause I'm better than anyone. I'm just, it's just when you see shit like that and it doesn't sit right with you. It's like something needs to be done about this. The same way is if I'm being a fucking asshole, if I'm being a dick, somebody should let me know. 'Cause sometimes you don't, you don't realize. You don't actually realize the way you're behaving or talking to people or treating people. If somebody needs to let you know and you're like, oh shit, my bad, I didn't even realize. And so people like that just all day every day going uncorrected, just being shitty to people. That fucking irritates me, bro. That irritates me. I don't know. Like I try my best, I think. To go throughout my day, not starting shit with anyone. With anyone. You show respect to people. You don't have to be friendly, but you should be respectful. Curious, polite. To everyone. For a number of reasons, that's the way I believe we should be treating each other, especially the people we don't know. For many reasons. And at the same time, you shouldn't take shit from anyone either. Don't start no shit, but also don't take no shit. That's my philosophy anyway. And so when I see people handing out shit to other people, I'm like, nah, something needs to be done about this. You know? Internally, you know what I mean? My fucking inner superhero comes out and I'm like, oh, no, not in my world. My inner Batman comes out and I was like, nah, we need justice. We need fucking justice. But yeah, I don't know, bro. I don't know how to explain it to you. That shit just bothers me. Just people who are shitty and rude and disrespectful for no reason, for no good reason. She had no reason to be such a bitch to that dude at that moment in time. He did nothing to her. And she's just being shitty and trying to humiliate this guy. Because socially, there will be no consequences for her. So she can kind of just get away with it due to the dynamic of the situation. That's irritating, bro. It's nothing new, but it doesn't mean it stops being irritating. Does that make sense? Fuck that bitch, bro. Just, I don't know, bro. I don't know. I don't want to get on a rambulance session, but I feel like I'm gonna start talking in circles about that. Maybe I'll revisit that at some point. I don't know, but just be kind. Be kind to people. Be a fucking dick, all right? 'Cause sooner or later, you're gonna come across the wrong person on the wrong day. You won't get fucked up. Nobody wants that. So just fucking be nice. All right? Just be nice. Speaking, you know what else? Yesterday, just going to that place was just fucking an irritating experience. After witnessing that, I was already irritated. So then I went to sit down to eat my food. Another thing that irritates me, bro, completely unrelated to that situation, but another dude who also worked there, and his responsibility was to keep the place clean. So he's walking around the restaurant, sweeping up crumbs off the floor, cleaning the tables after people leave, and it's a big restaurant. There's a lot of space, a lot of tables. Not that many people in there, it was the middle of the day. And so I typically will go, I'll choose a space where there aren't many other people sitting. I like to have lots of space. And I think it's weird to have a big empty room and go sit right next to the only other person in the room that's fucking weird. I can't tell you why. That's fucking weird, bro. So I go out, get my own little space, right? Everybody else is spread out in the room, and this dude that's walking around the restaurant cleaning stuff, there's really nothing to clean 'cause there aren't that many people in there. The place is already clean. This motherfucker goes, and there's like a row of tables behind me. And he kinda just goes and leans on one of those tables just outside my field of vision. Like just far enough to my right that I have to turn my head to see him. He's not directly behind me, but just far enough behind me that I can't see him looking straight or even just with my eyes looking to the side. I have to turn my head to see him. And he's just sitting there. And now I'm irritated, bro, 'cause I don't like people behind me, period. I think there's something I picked up from my dad. It's just like, I don't like sitting with my back to the door. I like to be able to see all the exits in the room. I like to know what's going on behind me. I don't like people standing there. It's just, it's a vulnerable spot. So I don't like people back there, just doing whatever the fuck, 'cause I can't see them, obviously. I need to be able to see what's going on in the room at all times. And so this dude's just sitting behind me right outside my field of vision, and now I'm like irritated because I don't know what the fuck he's doing back there. Now you, a normal person would probably say, Tony, what's the big deal? Like he works there. He's just, he's just sitting there. He's not doing anything wrong. He's not talking to you, touching you, bothering you. I don't care. He's fucking there. You understand? Out of all the places in the room, you could have stopped to take a break. You had to do it right behind me. What the fuck, bro? Now part of my mental energy is being occupied by wondering what the fuck he's doing. Like why are you sitting there, bro? I'm like looking back at him, kind of staring at him for a second. Like what are you, why are you sitting there, of all places? And this is, I guess it's irritating, 'cause as a man, you should know, you don't just, why are you posting up behind another man? Like, don't you as a man feel uncomfortable when it's just some random dude's just standing behind you for no particular reason? Doesn't that make you uncomfortable? Why would you do that to another man? Go stand somewhere else. I know y'all'll probably tell me I'm tripping, but I don't think I am. That's fucking weird. And it's annoying. It's fucking annoying. So then he walks, he stood there for like three or four minutes as I'm eating my food. Then he goes and cleans a couple of tables and he walks right back to that spot and posts up and he's just sitting there again. I'm like, what the fuck? It's wrong with you, bro. Why? In this big ass room. You have to sit right there behind me just far enough to my right where I can't see you. Why are you doing this, bro? Get the fuck away from me. Or at least get the fuck from behind me, bro. What are you doing? What are you doing? Fuckin' A man, I can't stand people that just like hover in your space. They're just for no particular reason, just hovering in your space. Now, I will acknowledge is I don't own the fucking restaurant. It's a public place like people can go wherever they want. I fucking get it, bro. I get it. I'm just saying. You gotta be cognizant of what's happening around you, bro. All this fucking space and you hear next to me, you sit. The fuck? Same thing with people like they go to a whatever place, the mall, restaurant, school, whatever. And there's a parking lot, a big empty parking lot. And they see one car parked as far away from the door as possible and they decide to park next to that car. What the fuck are you doing, bro? What are you doing? You ever, like, for those of you that drive a car, have you ever gone to a restaurant, a fast food place? You go get your food, you take it to go because you want to eat in your car. You should do this all the time when I was in college, bro. I'd go get some food. Back then I was smoking a lot of weed, so I'd smoke in my car and enjoy my food while listening to music or a podcast or something. In the parking lot. There's a lot of people inside. I don't want to eat inside. I don't want to drive and eat at the same time. And I'm not taking this all the way back to my house to eat it. I'm just going to eat in my car. Maybe that's an emergency. thing I don't know but I'll park as far away from the restaurant as possible crack my windows I got my weed lit I'm enjoying my fucking dinner playing my music and out of all these empty parking spaces somebody pulls up right next to my car and just sits there the fuck are you doing man what are you doing like there there has to be some kind of code or unsocial understanding some unwritten rule if you got all this space why would you plant yourself next to the only other person in that space what are you doing why are you doing this why are you doing the fuck the fuck bro these are the people we don't need in society you understand these are the ones you know fucking what's his name Bill Gates wants to reduce the population you know the those got to be the first ones to go people who are shitty to other people for no reason other than their miserable and insecure about themselves and people who have all the space in the world but choose to occupy the space right next to another individual for no particular reason those are the first two they got to go they got to go bro they got to go get him the fuck out of here all right I can't stand that shit and I know this is probably a really American thing because I know I've been to other countries where personal space is either a very different concept or one that doesn't exist at all so I understand it depends on where you're from how you think experiences that you've had in your life that make you value space differently than somebody else me value space I get that all right I get it I'm not saying my way is the only way I'm just saying it's the best way I'm just saying it's the best way okay that's all I'm saying fucking mind mind people space bro the fuck I'm not talking about situations where the subway is packed the Metro is packed and everybody has to be squished into the same space so as many people can get on the train as possible or something of that nature like a elevator where everybody's got to be in close quarters and you know you can't avoid being right next to somebody it's not what I'm talking about I'm talking about when you could go literally a hundred other places but you choose to go right next to this stranger who's by themselves mining their business not talking to or bothering anyone why go park right next to them why go sit right next to them why sit behind a man who's trying to enjoy his lunch who now has to wonder what the fuck you're doing behind him why do that why do that you deserve to be slapped all right two slaps to the face if I if I were fucking emperor of North America for for just a week just a week there'd be a whole lot of motherfuckers getting slapped in the face you know we don't got to kill him we don't got to put him in prison just slap him in the face bro few things in life are as sobering as an open hand slap to the face have you ever been slapped in the face that shit fucking her I'd rather be punched in the face than slapped honestly especially if I'm getting hit by a man like just hit me with a closed face bro cuz an open hand a big ass palm them long thick fingers just bro you're fucking and you're fucking your your your your your start ringing your your faces buzzing your face gets hot and shit and whatever you were thinking about prior to that moment is no longer on your mind you are fully present in the moment after receiving an open hand slap to the face so I think that's a great that's a great punishment you know just a good slap to the fucking face because it forces you to stop and think how did I get here you know you reconsider things you reconsider the choices that led you to this moment and that that's what you want right rehabilitation all right before this episode falls off the fucking rails let's move on another thing I want to talk to you all about was the idea or the phenomena of the the slacker now maybe you've never heard this word before so I'll break it down a little bit to slack SL ack to slack when I hear that word at least there may be other meanings but when I hear that word that verb what it means is is basically to give minimal effort when you should be giving moderate to maximum effort you'll often hear people say slacking off when they're talking about work or school or something like that so if you're at work and you're supposed to be I don't know finishing these reports or restocking these shelves or responding to these emails but instead of doing that you're just watching YouTube videos or you're in the bathroom scrolling on your phone or something like that you're slacking off you're not doing the work that you should be doing you're just being lazy you're avoiding the hard work you're slacking this what it means to slack or to slack off so a person who does that is a slacker SL ack er a slacker excuse me and I've been thinking about this a lot recently because there are a lot of slackers in the organization I work for I'm sure many of you can say the same thing slackers are everywhere everywhere and I think slackers get a really bad reputation in success in society or in the workplace because like nobody likes a lazy motherfucker who's making everyone else's life harder if one person on the team is slacking off and everyone else has to overcompensate for this person's lack of effort things don't get done on time things get done the wrong way there's just a bunch of negative consequences that come from a lazy teammate who's not pulling their weight or not doing what they're supposed to do then especially as a customer if you're paying for a product or a service and the person rendering that service is slacking off they're not giving it their best effort they're taking longer than they need to they're making silly mistakes just because they're not paying attention they don't care you feel like you're being cheated or you're being robbed it's like I'm paying for this and I'm not getting this like what the fuck why am I paying you if you're not going to give me the best possible service you can give me so slackers get a bad reputation understandably but I will say in defense of the slacker that there are many situations in life especially in the workplace where being a slacker is actually the smartest thing you can do and I'm not promoting this behavior I'm just saying I understand it so I shouldn't have said in defense of because I'm not defending it or supporting it I'm just saying I get it there's many situations where it's like you could give a hundred and ten percent of your effort all day every day you show up to work early you work harder than everyone else and you leave after everyone else every single day because you believe that's the right thing to do you have a strong work ethic you want to earn your paycheck you want to you want to do great things in that company or that organization or whatever you want more responsibility you want to become a manager than a general manager than whatever the fuck so you work hard but many situations where people like that who are hard workers are dedicated they're disciplined and they give everything that they got to a company they still get fucked over in the long run because what will happen oftentimes is the person who's working as hard as they can and the slacker who's doing the least amount of work they can they still get paid the same amount you know what I mean so it's like why would I kill myself for this organization when my paycheck is going to be the same either way why would I put in more effort to get the same amount of money there are also times when one person works much harder than the other but the slacker is more likable there are socially more what's the word adept they're more of a social butterfly they better talking to people they're more likable as people they're better with the political side in the workplace so their friends with the managers or the boss or whoever is in charge and even though they're the slacker they're more likable so they get promoted sooner than the dude who's actually working as hard as he can every day that happens all the time all the fucking time hard work and dedication go unnoticed all the time. and the smartest people who are generally the laziest, realize this and they're like, well shit, this dude's killing himself. I'm doing half of what he's doing. We still get paid and I got promoted. So why would I ever work harder? And now I got promoted and I'm in charge of other people. I'm just going to have them do all the work. And I'll just take the credit for it. It's on the manager. And that's how that culture of laziness gets reinforced. As you sit back and analyze what's actually going on and you're like, well, this dude's actually the most competent, the hardest work or the most disciplined. He deserves to get paid more, to get promoted and all these things. But nobody really notices or cares. And another side effect of being the hardest working, most reliable employee, is they just give you more fucking work. And they're like, well, I know Kaizen's going to get it done. He's always here the earliest. He always leaves the latest. He always takes on most of the work and gets the shit done. So if I really need something done, I'm going to tell him to do it. I'm not going to tell these lazy fucking slackers who never do anything. Why would I give them more work? I know they're not going to do it or at least they're not going to do it right. And not going to get it done on time. So I'm not going to give them more work. I'm going to give the guy who's already overworked more work because I know he'll get it done. That's the irony, you know? And I'm probably not saying anything revolutionary. I'm sure all of you have thought about this at some point. And it may be the reason some of you are slackers. Because you realize, like, there's no-- at the end of the day, this isn't my company. I'm here to get paid so I can go home, pay my bills, and buy more food. That's it. It's pure survival. So I have no interest in giving all of my life force to this company that would replace me less than a week if I got sick, if I died, if I got injured, and for whatever reason, couldn't work. They'd replace me without thinking twice about it. So why would I give everything I got to this company when I'm going to get paid the same? I'm never getting promoted because I'm not friends with the boss's boss. He's going to promote his friends who are slackers and don't do shit, and they know they don't have to do shit. Because they're friends with the boss. They're going to get promoted. So again, I'm not saying, you know, go and be a slacker. I'm just saying, I get it. I fucking get it. And I found myself when I first started working here, getting annoyed with the people who were doing the bare minimum. But it was OK because they were likable. And then you see people who maybe aren't the most likable or socially accepted or political in terms of their personality and their behavior. They're not friends with everybody. They're not gossiping with everybody. They just come in and they work hard and they go home. Those people are not getting ahead in the company. They're not getting the promotions they deserve. They're not getting the recognition they deserve. They're just getting all the shitty work because the bosses know they'll get that work done. And so you look at the slackers and you look at the fuck is wrong with you all. You're just annoyed by their existence. You're annoyed at the injustice of the situation. But then you grow up a little bit. You sit back and analyze it from a more adult perspective and you realize, of course, it's this way. There's no incentive for things to change. Of course, it's this way. And it probably always has been and probably always will be and it just is what it is. And you as an individual have to make that decision. Am I going to give it everything I've got, hoping that things go my way? Or am I going to do the bare minimum knowing I'm getting paid the same either way? I don't even want a promotion because that means more responsibility. I'm fine down here at the bottom doing the bare minimum, getting my check and going home. You have to decide which kind of person you are. [VIDEO PLAYBACK] So yeah, I understand the slacker. And some people would say, well, regardless of the consequences or the results, you should just give everything you've got out of personal pride. Like, regardless of how much you get paid every month, you should go in, give 110% and then go home just because-- just because you can. Like, there's honor in working hard, regardless of how much you get paid for it or who recognizes it, any of the benefits you get from that. It's just you get a sense of self-satisfaction, a sense of pride, knowing I give it everything I had, and I give it everything I've got every single day. And I also understand that mentality. But I'm not saying that everyone has to think or live that way. Because again, if you think about it logically, there's no reason to do that. So why would you? Some people are like fuck personal pride. Bro, my sense of pride comes from other areas of my life, being a great father or a great photographer or fucking a great student or something else. Like, my job isn't my whole life. So my sense of life satisfaction, personal satisfaction or pride or fulfillment doesn't have to come from my nine to five. It can come from other things. That's what makes me feel good about myself. This job is just to make sure I can keep my bills paid and I don't starve to death. I'm not living in the street. So it's just interesting to think about what your life philosophy may be in relation to work and how much you put into it and why. So whether you're the overachiever or the slacker, I don't-- I think there's arguments for and against both ways of approaching things and just depends on how you see it. So it's time to think about it. I just finished watching this TV series on Amazon, which is just weird to say that Amazon even has a streaming platform. But of course they do. But it's this show called Invincible. I don't know if you guys have heard of this one. And I don't think it's like a new show. Let me check really quick when the first season came out. I really don't know. 17 year old Mark Grayson. 2021. God damn. All right. So it is certainly not a new show. It's been off for like five years now. The first season came out in March of 2021. And I'll just read a brief description. 17 year old Mark Grayson is just like every other guy his age, except that his father is Omni Man, the most powerful superhero on the planet. As Mark develops powers of his own, he discovers his father's legacy may not be as heroic as it seems. That's a pretty good description of the show. So yes, this kid who was born on planet Earth, his mother is human, his father is a superhuman from another planet. And so although he is human himself, half of him is a superhero, so he develops superpowers around 17 years old. And wants to follow in his father's footsteps of protecting the world, saving people, becoming the strongest man on the planet and all these things. But he realizes that although yes, his father is a superhero and has saved countless lives, it may not have been for the reasons that he initially assumed. There may be a dark side to his father that he was unaware of before he got his powers. And on the surface, it doesn't sound any more interesting than any other superhero story. But I will say, I'm usually not into that superhero stuff like Spider-Man and Batman and fucking Superman. I've never been into that kind of stuff, but this show in particular was very, very good. I think the story writing was really good. The action scenes, the fight scenes are top notch, the dynamics of the relationships. It's very unique in the genre of superhero stories. I think the fact that it's animated makes it even better because a lot of the superhero stuff that involves like real humans, Superman, Spider-Man, all that shit, I don't know, it grows. That's just corny to me. I can't explain it to you. I can't explain it, but it's something about an animated series and how they can push the limits of what's visually possible makes it so much more interesting. I don't think I would have been into the show if they used human beings instead of animations. I can't explain why. I don't know how to explain that, but the point is it's a good show, you should fucking check it out. Because I think the season finale for season four came out recently. I just watched all four seasons in like two weeks. I'm not going to lie. It's a good fucking show. I just watched the season finale, season four. I think season five comes out sometime next year. Now, could you. be a good time to go ahead and check it out. It's definitely one of those shows that you can binge watch and yeah a great storyline lots of drama, a couple of unexpected moments, a bit of thriller in there, you know what I mean. So as of right now I give it an eight out of ten, a solid eight. I could stretch to an 8.5 but I'll give it a solid eight out of ten and I don't know if any of you have seen it so I won't talk too much about the show and why I give it that rating. I'll just say if you're looking for something new to watch I would check that out. Now of course if you got fucking Netflix or Hulu or some other streaming service you may think twice because then you have to pay for another subscription which is Amazon Prime but I think it's worth it even if just for a month. And if you have Netflix another show I want to recommend is Beef. Yeah you heard me right. BEF, Jesus that's not how you spell beef. BEF like Calmeat beef on Netflix and this is also I don't think it's a new show. The first episode as I'm looking here came out in 2023 but I just saw it this year. It's ironically the main character in Invincible. The dude who how can I say that the voice actor for the main character in Invincible is also the star of this Netflix series Beef. I don't know why that's curious to me but I saw both shows in like the same month but anyway this show Beef is at least the first season because the new season just came out with different actors didn't really seem that appealing to me but season one was really good and it's about this this handyman this repairman living in Los Angeles who's kind of you know he's down on his luck he's very ambitious but how can I put that he's he's a very ambitious dude but due to his lack of discipline and direction and life things just never really worked out for him he's still struggling financially his company isn't growing the way he wants it to he's living with his brother kind of taking care of him so to speak and on the opposite side of the story there's this very rich woman who owns like a plant store and sells like boutique she kind of like fancy plants to rich people in LA and makes a lot of money you know through her company that she owns she lives out in the hills in this fancy house and all these things so you have this broke dude living in LA this rich woman living in LA and they cross paths in the weirdest of ways and like this road rage damn near traffic accident scenario and they both have a very bad temper so they almost crash into each other on the on the street and neither one of them can let that situation go so these complete strangers come together by pure coincidence but then throughout the show heavily affect each other's lives in very unpredictable ways it's a very entertaining story very unpredictable as well I enjoyed every minute of it there's no wasted episodes or moments of the show because you find that a lot with TV series a lot of times they include scenes or episodes that just don't need to be there that don't add anything to the story that allow you to disengage from the story you know what I mean but in both invincible and beef you don't really find that I'd say 95% of the time you're totally engaged in what's happening wondering what's gonna happen next you know there's laughs there's moments of sorrow there's moments of devastation like it's a it's a little roller coaster ride if you will so I highly recommend that one as well if you haven't checked it out I can't speak for season two because again I haven't seen it and don't plan to watch it but season one was very good some good actors good storylines good performances you know oh and I said in the beginning of the episode that I was I need topic recommendations for real English radio but I ask again for music recommendations it's been a while since I've done this and I appreciate y'all reaching out last time with lots of music recommendations but I need some more doesn't matter what language honestly English band is Portuguese fucking Arabic I don't care as long as it sounds good I'll listen to it so put in the comment section as well some of your favorite artists people that you listen to want to daily people that inspire you or just make really good music good songwriters because I find myself listening to a lot of the same shit these days and I like checking out new music so I appreciate any recommendations y'all can give me so yeah leave all that in the comment section things that you'd like to hear about on the podcast in the future and music that you think I should check out all right my friends but that's it for this episode of talking about nothing it's been a pleasure sitting here running my fucking mouth till you but I'm gonna get out of here man I am your host Tony Kaizen talking about nothing number 18 in the books I'm gonna highlight y'all soon peace
