‘Survivor 51’ Episode 4 Exit Interview!

The podcast explores the emotional aftermath of Jenna’s elimination from Survivor 51, highlighting her journey from devastation to resilience. Despite being betrayed by a swap and facing a mysterious alliance shift, Jenna finds peace in reflecting on the meaningful moments of the game—especially the beach scene where she feels gratitude for her journey. The episode also features a special segment with Parvati Shallow, who discusses her new stage show with Sari, emphasizing humor, authenticity, and inclusivity. The show analyzes Survivor’s evolving format, noting improvements like one-tribe starts, standard immunity idols, and one-on-one beach interactions, which add depth to gameplay while honoring nostalgic elements. Fans debate whether the show prioritizes compelling backstories or strong, engaging gameplay, with many advocating for more emotional authenticity and diversity. The discussion also touches on the absence of Exile Island, a fan-favorite element, and calls for greater representation in reality TV. Overall, the episode balances raw emotion with creative innovation, celebrating Survivor’s enduring appeal while acknowledging its evolving challenges. A recurring theme is the importance of personal growth and emotional honesty in the face of loss and surprise. The segment ends with a note on Survivor’s future, including a potential coin-flip prize pot and the possibility of a return, though participants emphasize that they value respect and well-being over high stakes. The narrative concludes with a celebration of Survivor’s cultural significance and the power of community, both in the game and beyond.

and legend is joining us to weigh in on all things season 51 talking about her new stage show with seree she's got it all going on and we're getting the scoop here at the pod has spoken so first here's jenna jenna jenna how's it going you seem so much happier than when you left the episode last night this is so refreshing for us to see i'm gonna be crying about two questions okay don't get too excited this is my vibe i will let you know last night we had an unbeknownst to all of my guests a funeral party okay so i get voted out my friends bring a celebration of life it says in loving memory we play my heart will go on by celine dion and i have the best experience it was the best worst day of my life and that is the way we're writing at the moment okay well uh i'm glad you're taking it in stride uh it seems healthy uh healthier than whatever gymnastics rob was doing true no a lot of people do crash rob still like the fact that he's still defending whatever thing he had on his foot is just like kudos to him to be able to scribble down like that i mean do you know how many people could do that amazing yeah amazing uh jenna where was this toxic relationship with you and devin did you feel that did you know that that's how he felt the whole time no i mean yes and no about dev of course i don't know how much he is coming for me how much he is obsessed with me and maybe wants to be a wedding photographer like i don't know but like what was really tough what was really tough is dev and i had a lot of heart-to-hearts you know like i had a lot of moments honestly more than other people with dev like crying to him opening up to him we were sharing poetry i you know would he cry back yes yes oh that's dirty and i think it was real i don't know but like i think that's where it's i think this is this is my toxic trait okay this is my strength and my weakness is i am not someone who's like you're coming for me you're dead to me i'm coming for you that's not my vibe at all my strength is i'm really good at repairing relationships i can see the tiniest little glimmer of hope that we could make something work that other people are like jenna that is objectively a bad thing i don't know i don't know i don't know i don't know i don't and honestly nine out of ten times i can make it work i'm gonna claim this as the one out of ten time that i needed to have a little more cutthroat you're dead to me energy um but yeah it is what it is i mean it was tricky because you get swap screwed a little bit here or a lot and you probably how well did you know the helicopter alliance was a thing like did you have any clue that ori was tapped in with you dev and uh jelly whatsoever no and and this is why you see me be so visibly heartbroken and i mean i would have been no matter what how if i if i knew i was going home i would have been heartbroken but it was like running 100 miles an hour at a dream having so much tank or gas in my tank and then and feeling pretty safe because you know obviously watching with all the information okay i'm not safe at all i'm in a bad position but it's not like i'm not safe at all i'm in a bad position but at the time i'm of course thinking okay i can work with ori and alexa if i need to if dev and jelly are truly coming for me and the reason i i didn't think dev and jelly were coming for me is because alexis is telling me this desperately you know and good on her for telling me but i go to corroborate this information with ori and he is not corroborating it at all he's not at all saying dev and jelly are coming for me so of course with not all of the information i take this as okay alexis and ori are coming for me and i'm not saying dev and jelly are coming for me or at least alexis is lying to me one of them and yeah and it would make sense for them to work with me so now it's not two two and dev having an extra vote it would make way more sense for them to work with me our interests are aligned and then at the exact same time i'm working with dev and jelly and and thinking our interests are aligned and so i really thought i wasn't going to get any votes i love love love the way it aired but when i when it was me the the first vote was me that is when i did the hands in the face yeah you did that you did that you did that you did that you did that you knew it was you knew it was you oh right as soon as i saw the vote i knew it was me but before that not at all yeah i have been in that situation you get one yeah i've been in situations where you get one vote and you're like no big deal and then you get the second vote you're like oh it's fucking me dude and that's when that's when your heart sinks is in that moment they always show it at the end but the true moment is when you get one more vote than you were expecting to get and you're like that's not right this is bad and that was that was vote number one that was one for you i shouldn't have had any votes and but that's exactly right that's exactly how it felt yeah um wait so who did you think that alexis was voting for i thought alexis and ori were voting for jelly and i thought i thought dev and jelly were voting for alexis and i thought i could do whatever i want to do yeah yeah you thought you were the powerful swing vote that's extra that's extra sad yeah let's go i literally said i control i get to choose i know i was like this is gonna air i'm gonna look like an idiot and you know why it's like you don't have all the information it just is what it is yeah yeah you uh you seem very positive about it right now like almost a concerning amount are you going to be okay you guys are all side eyeing like something's gonna happen here this is gonna be bad no i i am this is this i think encapsulates my survivor experience and i guess are you guys okay if i tell you a brief moment that i had on the island tell us all the moments yeah okay so yeah this is something that will truly stick with me forever and i held on to it after getting voted out a lot um as well but i'm on sabu beach we're about to go to tribal council you know we're on ice and i'm like can i go see the sunset and so i go down i sit at the the beautiful beach where the water comes together and i'm just sitting on this little corner and it is the first and only time in the game that i have the active thought oh my gosh it's so beautiful here it had not occurred to me other than this moment because i was literally like fighting for my life and it was also the first and only time i thought of my family because i was so tangible oh my gosh this is all such a gift and i was not thinking of the game i was thinking of the years that i spent chasing this game to be playing this show and like or playing this game and i was thinking of all of the moments it gave me like getting to go to arizona and surprising my family that i was on the show like all of these little things that it brought me and i like literally started crying and i opened my eyes and of course there's like a camera operator in my face and i'm like guys i'm not going home i'm not sad right now you know like i'm just i'm crying because i'm grateful and then of course i get voted out and i'm at ponderosa and one of the big things that i was coming back to again and again was this other tangible phrase of like this is all you get sorry for you okay sorry for you this you wanted so much more this is what you get deal with it and i think what the visual became for whatever reason was, I literally picture it like that final beach. And I picture the phrase, this is all you get as a wall that I was desperately trying to get across and like clawing at and doing anything to get past. And I couldn't, but then it sort of forced me to go back and sit in that final spot where I was sitting and watching the sunset and looking at it again, turning over every shell. And then the phrase is the same. This is all you get, but the meaning changes completely. It's this is all you get. And for me, that encapsulates my survivor experience of both letting myself feel like, honestly, the heartbreak of a dream ending. And also really this deep sense of peace of like, wow, perhaps these nine days contained every single thing that I needed. Did they? You're like, but did they? Listen, I would have given to go further. And that is the grief. That is like the devastation. I'm not pretending that I don't feel that I feel it a lot, but I do feel this like existential sense of peace of like, I actually, I picture it like I can zoom in on the nine days and like that in them, they contain these like infinite amounts of gifts. And truly I point that back, to me for the journey that it took me to get here. And, and, and there's so much there that, that changed me as a person that I would have never gotten, you know, having not gotten on the show. So yeah, I think I have to come back to that. I am on faith claiming that yes, these nine days contained what I needed, but also I would love to come back for a pre-merge baddies season. And that's what we're manifesting. And that will be the theme pre-merge baddies. Of course. Okay. Okay. Don't you think that's an incredible theme? I love it. That's an incredible theme, but, uh, historically over the last 11 seasons, they've just given it a numeric, uh, title. Yeah. Well, this is where we change the tide. You change it again? Yeah. Let's go guys. Yeah. Pre-merge baddies season 53. Um, Jenna, last thing from you. For me, you're now at Ponderosa. Rob's there. How big was that cast that Rob was probably wearing at Ponderosa? Like, could he, was he in a wheelchair or crutches or what was going on? Wheelchair, crutches, laying down on a stretcher. I mean, come on. It was all of that. Was he limping? No. Okay. Okay. Riley, did you have anything for Jenna? Yeah. Jenna, how many weddings did you cancel on to be on Survivor? Only one. Only one? And also this was cracking me up pregame where people are like, wow, that's insane. She's just going to leave them high and dry. Like, no guys, I'm responsible. I literally came up with a backup plan for every single possible wedding that I could have missed between season 51 or 52, which was what, you know, the, casting was for. And so we had a plan in place. We set them up with the best of the best and turns out they're absolutely massive Survivor fans. Like the bride texted me after the fact, like when we could talk about it. And she was like, no, like my bachelorette was like literally Survivor themed. So I do feel as if it was, it was destiny. It was destiny. Yeah. So they were actually more happy that they booked you and didn't get you because they were like, we almost. Literally, one of the person that photographed the wedding is my amazing associate, Grace. And she, she was also like, would have been my loved one. Like I, she's obsessed with Survivor. One of the speeches somebody gave at the rehearsal dinner quoted Jeff Probst. And like, of course they have no idea this is happening. I was like, this is hilarious. Yeah, that is pretty good. Well, it's all fate. And maybe it's fate or maybe you just are in the Survivor circle. Like you, you probably have just planted yourself there unbeknownst to you that you're just drawn to anything and everything. Yes. That Survivor magnetism. You need a wedding and you are a Survivor fan and that that is my space. Yes. Everyone is attracted to you within that space. Anything else, Riley or Ashley for Jenna before we let her go for now, but it's, it's not the end. It's just see you later. Ashley, what do you have? How come no one believed that you're a photographer? What was going on there? Did you notice? I don't know. Do you guys see my handle here? Jenna door is a photographer. Yes. Shout out. You know, I honestly think how they aired it was fairly accurate. That moment that we had in the water, I remember being awkward. We were all introducing ourselves and I am like, um, I'm Jenna. I'm 30 and I'm a wedding photographer. Obviously what's going through my brain is like, this is where I would fill in the gaps of all of these other pieces of my life. And I don't want to talk about it. And I actually am realizing in real time, this was very poor planning on my part. I'm realizing in real time, oh my gosh, I have not had to introduce myself in any other way than like sort of my past life. And it was a really weird moment for me. And I think it read weird. I read weird. And to Dev's credit, he thought it was weird. And it was true that I was like something else was going on. So I think it was just that. And then it's just one little spark of she's probably not a wedding photographer. And then, you know, it is what it is. Yeah. But we actually looked at your website and, uh, you're doing okay, Jenna. You're doing okay. Yeah. You're very talented. I appreciate that so much. It really means the world. And honestly, you know, in hindsight, I think it's the best bit that could have possibly happened for me personally. How fun to be accused. You're not a wedding photographer when it's like, um, no, I am very much a wedding photographer, you know? Yeah. And everybody else is lying about their profession. So it's like, yeah, the irony of everyone else being like, I don't think she's real. And it's like, well, nobody said their real thing. Yeah. Um, Jenna, sad to see you go. Thank you for, uh, you know, giving us the entertainment this season and, uh, we wish you the best of luck moving forward. And if you're not okay, you can tell us like reach out to the pod has spoken on Instagram and let Riley know there, and then we'll come together and, and cheer you up. Honestly. Thank you guys. I love the pod. I love listening to you guys. It's so free. It's so fun. And I'm claiming it as a gift that I get to do even this. So I am absolutely positive. Probably tomorrow. We're going to have a good cry crash out. Okay. So that's, that's where we're at, but right now sometimes that's the best. I agree. Sometimes you just got to cry it out. Okay. Well, we're sending you all our love. Think of us tomorrow while you're crying and then turn that frown upside down. Okay. Love you, Jenna. You guys. Thank you so much. All right, Riley. What did you think about Jenna? Did she too much energy? It makes me concerned a little bit. Very, very chipper, you know, big contrast from her last words last night on survivor where, you know, she was much more like bummed and devastated. Yeah. And, uh, now she's like, it's all good. And, um, but you know, she was a self-aware about it. She was like, I'm going to have a big cry tomorrow. Um, so I don't know. Or just the distance puts it all in perspective. You know, I'm not sure. I think she's going to be okay. I joke about her not being okay because she was so chipper and, uh, excited and so much energy and, and fun. Uh, I think she's totally fine. I think that, uh, I would have been, I, I, I personally would have been less chipper than that. Not because, you know, she went home like the fifth person out, um, or whatever, and obviously you have your sights set higher, but because I feel like she's just such a swap screw, right? Like she got swapped onto a tribe. Yeah. One, like they were the shorthanded tribe anyways. Um, I wonder if they told her not to talk about that because she didn't really touch on the swap screw. Kilby mentioned it in the episode. I kind of said you got swapped, but I didn't ask her. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We, uh, you know, I would have been, much more like, especially for somebody too, who like, they've got like the photo of her as like a child, you know, with a survivor buff on and whatnot. Like she, this has been like a long term dream for her. She's kind of one of the super fans out there. And I mean, this is like one of the things that makes me not want to go on survivors. I'm like, it's so easy for your game to just end on something that's completely out of your control like this. So you just get swapped under a tribe or you're toast. Um, so I don't know. It's, it's a bummer to see, to kind of see anybody go that way. It just doesn't feel satisfying. Yeah. I mean, the flip side of it is like if you have the numbers and have worked hard to win the numbers and build all the alliances and stuff then technically you should be able to hopefully survive that obviously if you're in the minority when you swap you have some work to do but then on top of that the fact that her entire tribe imploded the day before where lines were drawn also implode but she was on the right side she was on the right side but that's the thing because she worked her way out yeah but because that tribe wasn't unified in like a 10 to 1 vote or whatever she's now put in a smaller group and then it's whittled down to a smaller group when the swap happens so uh yeah i mean it is luck i guess i mean that is the flip side to be like hey like devon and jelly actually felt tighter with ori somebody they met on day one and hadn't shared a beach with since then yes uh you know jenna who they'd shared a beach with for like nine days and that's that is the counter argument is that you're like well it's on her for not forming a tighter bond with devon and jelly over like nine days but then it's like so confusing she's like i had these heart-to-hearts with devon where we were like crying to each other and i'm like i just don't understand how that doesn't translate into something workable and survivor actually that's that's maybe because i've just never played someone crying with you over past trauma on survivor and then betraying you that's a person you don't vote for in the end if you're on the jury because the betrayal is too deep it happens often on survivors yeah but people get too close to you and you're like oh this is unbreakable we've sobbed together over our backstories only to then have that person be like that was personal this is game you're like ouch are they not intertwined yeah so uh i think uh if devon is doing that with a lot of people that can be bad for an end game um ashley is jenna gonna be okay um maybe in a bit i feel like there should be like um someone should write out all the steps of mourning for survivor contestants who get uh voted off especially before uh pre-jury because it's just very interesting we get the super duper happy people like jenna and anna we get the stoic but obviously still fuming like alia and i don't know it's it's definitely she's definitely in the mourning process she definitely got like hardcore screwed in that tribe swap um there was nothing she could have done um knowing that devon was like actually trying to connect with her but still like betrayed her totally totally like fucked up um she got screwed and right i'm glad that she hosted a funeral for herself a funeral party uh while it was premiering because i'm sure that helped a lot i'm glad that she was able to talk with us and have fun and everything but man i could tell that she's like pissed she's pissed off and yeah a little confused frustrated and i feel bad i feel bad yeah i think both of you are actually make good points there is that it's hard to come off of your lifelong dream of being on service and you're like oh my god i'm a survivor understanding that you kind of got screwed by the format and not being bitter about it and not dwelling on it and not you know nitpicking at it like yeah i'm still bitter i still have chips on my shoulder from that's just like that's part of going on the show is now i have this burden of some regret some um bitterness towards things that have happened on the show and it's just like that's part of it like and how you deal with it um i think she'll be okay it looked like she's definitely trying to stay on this side of optimism um so good for her but also if you need to you know complain a little bit once in a while then also you've earned the right to also do that yes absolutely so um okay well uh we wish jenna the best uh she brought a lot of positive energy here which i was uh glad for but it was like almost red flag amount of uh positive energy but we love her um and now uh a special treat uh we have the one and only parv poverty shallow is what everyone knows her as i call her parv um here she is are you so bummed that we weren't recording for your really funny joke i am so bummed should we read we're with par leave it to the imagination we're going to redo the joke so this joke was off the cuff hilarious i don't know if it's going to be the same now but we have to still share it parv uh you start uh wait riley starts riley give parv the compliment great hat oh thank you i got dressed up for you guys today well i dressed up for you last night okay there's so much better when it was organic that's what i'm saying actually ashley's making like the biggest face right now it was so good it was so good though and that's why i cannot be a stand-up comedian people are like you should do that i was like i can't do her stuff i have to be off the cuff it's one and done i don't get it the first time it doesn't ever come back great the second time but you guys get the gist of it and if you just know how funny i am off the cuff just imagine it that way instead of the reenacted way that was horrible which yeah a little inside baseball here survivor does have you reenact stuff sometimes and they almost never use it because it's always garbage i don't think i've ever had to reenact anything because they've had us yeah they've had us reenact on blood versus water we got jervis and i got into a big disagreement with monica uh because she was like sharing a bunch of information and we were like stop talking so much about our plans with other people and the cameras like weren't there in time and they were like can you do that over and we were like uh we'll try and it was like so bad and they were never going to show any of it but i do believe like a b-roll of all the times they've made survivor contestants reenact something because they weren't there quite in time to catch it would be very uncomfortable for people to watch it would kill it would be yeah it would parv you are fresh off of your stage show with sari we actually saw tiffany i saw tiffany uh irvin last night and she said the show was amazing she was at your show the night before and are you in town no she flew across i'm in dc right now she flew across country after she saw you to come okay out to this thing out here so that's right she delayed her flight yeah so i wanted to know i didn't talk to her much about it i know you have the show i know it's selling out like crazy i know there's high demand what is it what are you guys talking survivor are you and sari chit-chatting about survivor about life about girl stuff about guy stuff about like non-binary stuff like what are we all of it none of it some of it sex life uh how to like be a girl exactly yeah exactly yeah exactly you nailed it is it off the cuff or is it rehearsed you have bullet points like if i go to one show and i go to the next show are they completely different are they the same are they similar okay i'm going to stop you there because you could i know go on for probably 25 more minutes and you would be right because our show is i'd be right about all of it you're correct it's it's a formatted show so we have done two shows so far at um okay we did it at dynasty typewriter which is this sort of classic venue in la that brings comedians it's so fun so the energy was out it was incredible it was a packed house we had different guests both nights so the way we start the show off is we have a video at the top that is a cinematic highlight people cry siri and i cry every time we watch the video and then we come out and we kick it off we kick it off with questions for each other we talk to the audience we talk about what soulmates are what we mean to each other what it means to have a soulmate in this industry that we never even expected to be in and here we are 20 years later and have built the most formidable alliance of all time i think across reality television in every area of reality television the black widow brigade and how did we do that what's required and then we realized well it's only the two of us we've lost amanda no one can find her she's hiding out somewhere we've tried we've tried actually montana so no no amanda alexis is gone she has a knee injury probably still to this day and she's been nursing from my Micronesia. And we have Natalie, who's always kind of jet-setting around, we never know where she's going to be when she's going to be there. So we're like, we need more than two to make a brigade. So we are holding a live audition for the Black Widow Brigade on stage. And we have contestants. So Ceri's son, Jared, is incredible. You know him, you love him from Big Brother. He's our hype man. He's out in the audience. He's recruiting. So he finds the right candidates. We bring them on stage. We have a casting director who is a hilarious comedian. May did it for the first day. May Barton, my partner. And then the second day, last night, we had Pat Regan. They're so funny. And then we have a, I don't want to give it, I don't want to give away what we have next because it's kind of scary. There's a jump scare that happens. And then a really stunning guest comes in. It shakes everything up. And then the contestants are doing, they're playing games. They're doing getting grilled. It's basically a real audition. So I'm going to tell, I'm telling people when they come on stage to audition for the Black Widow Brigade, this is their first hoop to jump through. Like, should they try out for Survivor or Traitors or any other reality show, they can use this as street cred. Like I tried out for the Black Widow Brigade on stage. Like they've been grilled in the hot seat under huge amounts of pressure. And these people turn up. I mean, I was very impressed with who we had. And then we reset and we have a round table and we bring up any other Survivor guests or Traitors guests. Or we had Simone from Drag Race, winner of RuPaul's Drag Race last night with us. Monet X Change was there. So I, you know, I'm in this like really fun arena of comedians and drag queens these days. Yeah. Yep. And it's just the perfect place. It's a perfect blend for our stage show. Okay. I wanted to talk about that. So Black Widow Brigade, infamously all female. Yeah. Are men allowed to also try out for the Black Widow Brigade? Is any, is it open to everyone? You've wrote, also wrote a book about female empowerment and, you know, claiming your own power. And you've been a very motivational for women across the country, globally, maybe even, right? Yeah. Could I? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Could I try out? Like I show up, I can try out or no? This show is for the girls, the gays and the allies. So if you are an ally, then you can try out. It's a very quick way to figure out who's not an ally. Cause they're just like, oh, I'm not. Exactly. We're filtering. No, okay. Yeah. Oh, I can't go in there. We're filtering. We don't want them. Smart. That's smart. So if we sit out there and see who actually, after they see that and turns away, we know they're not with us. And then you boo, hiss. Boo. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Good. Um, and part of the reason I wanted to have you on the podcast today is because you, have you announced already more dates? You're announcing more dates. Like you're how many, what's the package now today, right now getting blasted across social media. How many more shows are you doing and where will you be? Oh, I'm so excited. So we sold out. We sold out. We sold out our venue in LA in two days. So I was like, we're gonna have to do more dates. And it's so funny because when I planned this tour, I, Cerise said yes, before she left to go out of the country to go do a reality show. So she was off comms. And I was like, when she came back, I was like, I planned a big tour for you. She was like, Oh my God. So we're going to, we're going to come to DC. Okay. We're going to New York, Toronto. Okay. Toronto, San Francisco, and Chicago. Okay. So five cities. All over. Yeah. Awesome. East coast, west coast. Yeah. East coast, west coast, international and Midwest. Wow. You're hitting it all. I mean, I literally put this together in a month and it is skyrocketed. People are like coming in to help us from everywhere. I don't know if you guys saw, but we just posted a song that we wrote a soulmate song. Okay. On my Instagram. Who wrote it? Okay. There's this guy called frosted Jake. Oh, I did see it. I did see it. I saw it. He's like, yeah, I saw it. I saw it this morning. So we do end the show, the stage show with a song. Okay. Serena. Yeah. We sing. The same song or a different song? It's a little different. That one is for the, that one's for the socials, but our song is, it's a little, it's different every night. So the first night it was more lively, like really wild, kind of deeper survivor fans were there. And then last night it really flowed. Everyone was clicking, but we have different comedians and different guests every night. So we don't know what's going to happen exactly. We roll with it and we're pulling audience questions out of a bowl. So there's going to be different questions asked each night too. And last night the audience was different because I had a bunch of like the NBC crowd was there and my agents came. So it felt like it was industry night. So like a little cooler, but it's going to change. It's going to change. You could come. Theoretically, if you're this kind of fan, you could road trip and come to every. All the shows and it would be different every time. Yeah. Okay. Cause I'm like you, I'm not scripting anything. Yeah. No. The second you're like, I need you to recite this line. I'm like, okay. It's going to be bad. It's going to be real bad. And it's not that I can't deliver the line. I'll deliver the line, but I will feel like a fraud, which just comes across when it's just like, yeah. So where can people buy tickets? Go to Parvati and sari.com and then enter code black widow and you can get tickets to any of this. Awesome. Okay. You heard it here first. Maybe at least the pot has spoken. You've heard it here the first time on the pot has spoken. But we'll continue to talk about it throughout the season here until you are sold out nationwide. Parv inter nationwide. Um, how are you liking let's shift to survivor now than the open era. So we shifted from the new era, which got still a little bit like same format every time the same arguments online about, uh, what fans like versus what the show is doing. And the open era has diverted from that a little bit. Are you enjoying the open era versus what the show was two or three years ago? Um, yeah, I think it's better than what the show was two or three years ago. Um, I liked starting with two tribes. It was amazing. Amazing. Yeah, they started with one. Uh, just for like a few seconds. Like for half a day, but I think that was fun. I kind of liked that, that they started with one. Everyone had a moment to connect on the beach and chat for. And panic not knowing what was happening. Yeah, exactly. I think that's cool because you could see who is already gonna meltdown. That guy Kilby is wild. He is wild. I met him in person last night. He's fun. He is fun, but he's wild. I mean, even more wild is, uh, Rob, the guy who quit last week and still maintains that it was a medevac, the paper cut on the bottom of his foot. Like he will not, uh, say otherwise. Okay, that's the difference between this time that we find ourselves in on Survivor and when we were playing Survivor Tyson because no one would have let him get away with that in our season. We would have been like, you're quitting, dude. Yeah, everyone would have harassed him. Yeah, they were so nice to him. Wow. Yeah. They don't shame each other like they used. We used to where it was like, don't be a baby, bro. I rubbed dirt on it. Yeah, you're just not strong enough. Yeah, they don't do enough of that. That's, uh, I think, yeah, that's the strongest way to keep people in line is just public shaming by the masses. I also bring back public shaming. Yeah, come on. I also really like that they're using standard immunity idols. I love someone pocketing an idol. Yeah. Right. That's like has the power of an actual idol. It feels good. It's easy to understand. Yeah. We don't as viewers need to like read through the rules or have the rules in bullet points in overlay on the screen. Yeah. It's very refreshing. Right. And that they had that, um, they had got to go visit camp. I liked that as well. So interesting to see how they are. These new contestants are using these old experiences that people used to like people used to go to camp and they just lay around at camp. And now in this new era, they're like, here's my opportunity to campaign. And build a bond with each and every single person. And I'm going to take a one-on-one walk down the beach. Yes. During the mutiny. They're like, are we available for one-on-ones? It's like, I didn't think of that, but I guess I should like who wants a rose. Yeah. yeah because they've been watching so much reality tv now for 20 years they're using the old um experiences differently now i did also want to ask about that i yeah i like it i think it's refreshing i also think it's what the fans have been asking for in a certain to a certain degree for the last uh five six years i wanted to ask about that because um a lot of people are very excited about this season i am enjoying the season as well but all they really did was the stuff they used to do and was that their play the whole time like survivors like let's just kind of give them something like boring and predictable for five years and then we'll just go back to the thing and then we'll say you're welcome at the end of it you're welcome we gave you that and it's like like the everybody was so excited when the auction returned a couple seasons ago they're like oh my god and it's like and then jeff's like a gift from me the survivor god of all gods deity bow before me i have we stoweth upon you the auction you're like you used to always have the auction it really reminds me of something that you and i do every day and it's called parenting yes you , you gotta trick your kids you gotta make them make them no screen time yeah they get a choice be like you know what i like the way you did your homework today i'm gonna give you that screen actually you deserve it yeah or like we're skipping ice cream day today but next week and you've got an ice cream day every week for like five years and i just don't want to stop at the ice cream truck today on the way home from school but if you keep your rooms clean for the week we'll hit it next week like that's uh yeah i can see that uh and it is like it's a weird balance now because survivor's been going so long that it is like everybody's nostalgic for the old but survivor probably also wants to move into the future somehow but what is the balance there between giving the people who've always loved the show what they want and uh exploring new things yeah i think they tried with 50 bringing in some of the celebs and making it a little bit gimmicky which was a flop so i think if it's if right now because in our world everything is changing so much i think people do want their kfc they want their like the stability macaroni and cheese they want their bowl of lucky charms like they want to know it's like a it's comfort food i think that's what people come to survivor for it's the nature it's the beauty of the beach it's like the robs who are like oh it's so poor yeah we love that yeah day six dude yeah you knew what you were signing up for right but also you kind of didn't know all of it so i'm like i'm gonna go to the beach and i'm gonna go to the beach and i'm gonna go to the i can't fully fault you but you knew some of it i think the contestants make survivor so entertaining and watchable usually that's really it's like it's a game that the people bring the energy i want to talk about that because jeff has come out and said stuff about other people going on other shows and stuff like that and i don't know how if their story is not now compelling because it's being told all the time then they wouldn't be good on survivor anymore my argument is the story of the person i don't give a shit about i want compelling tv so if you're a compelling personality that makes compelling tv i don't care how compelling your backstory is like that's a very minute point like who cares like the your little blip about your childhood does not interest me i need compelling gameplay and i think that that's where survivor when they get it right really excel but have sometimes and maybe more so during the new era defaulted to the compelling backstory more than the compelling tv character yes i think uh more towards the new era when they were they're like i want to turn this into a daytime talk show format yeah because at one point in my history of my life i wanted that and it didn't work out then so how can i get it in this format how can i right so i see that i see that that is what they've been attempting to do sometimes it really does work like with katora and with um i think it works when it's a compelling backstory and a compelling gameplay exactly but if they don't have the compelling gameplay yeah it doesn't work and i think you should be looking at that first and foremost and then if they have a compelling backstory great use it and if not who cares because they're going to make good tv and i do object to this comment of saying when people have been on tv too much they're played out yeah i don't think so i think if if you're on too much it's because everyone wants to keep seeing you and i think yeah and there's some people i think there are some people who were born for reality tv competition yeah you're one of those people i'm one of those people siri's one of those people rob um michelle fitzgerald there's i think d on big brother crushing yeah d absolutely i don't watch big brother but i've heard stories of d and rick devins doing great and i'm like yeah they're awesome but it's just like if jeff is gonna say that he's cool with people doing other shows just stop there don't say after that but you're played out and we don't want you back or unless you're loyal to me and me alone and i'm not paying you for years and years and years and i choose to get paid somewhere else at some point in time i may not return whatever loyalty i didn't have for you to whatever loyalty you didn't have for me like what i don't even understand that comment it was so i mean so we can go into so many comments with jeff but um this season yeah but why we're a fun podcast here we like to have fun we will poke holes in things all day long uh but this season the new the open era they have touted as anything can happen at any given moment and the one thing that we've used this segment for on our thursdays is to touch on things we forgot to touch on last night and one of those things is we saw exile island on episode one and two and now it's gone and where is it and how come us at the podcast haven't been talking about where is it you know is it coming back did you like it should it be back i love exile island yeah personally i love an exile island but i love it when it's really small and there's a shipwreck on it yeah okay like visual i want that visual i want them on like i want the like an actual island island the sand beach and the sand bar with no trees like a sad contestant curled up in the fetal position candace cody candace exactly yeah and it's raining like they should put like synthetic rain out on they're just like you have to stay under the rain machine the whole time it's just a fire hose yeah and just like big wind turbines right yes it's just freezing can't get them out of the water they're like yes i guess i'll just take cover under this plank of wood yeah if i angle it right it deflects some of the sand um they wake up with it all in their faces that's what i want from my exile island i do too i want it to be really rough and lewis looked like he had kind of a rough time um what his hands that was crazy his hands were beat up he was very lonely why didn't he take his shirt off or use his we talked about that we got a little pushback i did meet lewis uh last night who did say uh preseason for lewis talking about is yeah yeah yeah he said it wouldn't have helped uh some people said yeah that definitely would have helped and he was like i wouldn't have been able to chop through it anyways it was like an impossible task for me for me he didn't say that last night but i did meet him last night and preseason he said he was the better cooler version of preseason and last night i said i've played over a hundred days of survivor and never pooped my pants one time so i guess i just don't know what's cool anymore that's right you don't you're not keeping up with the kids i'm not keeping up with the kids you know like if if that's what's cooler then okay i just don't get it i'm sorry great that's great what did he say did he immediately start crying he's a great sport i love lewis he's a very good sport he uh i harass him all the time because he said that pre-season he probably wanted that like that's i'm playing right into the thing he wanted was talking about him more uh but that's fine i know i got god but i just still love to talk about him and he is a good sport so it's fun i think maybe it's maybe he's not having fun then i feel bad uh so maybe i'll ask him if he's actually having fun or if i'm hurting his feelings every time oh that's nice of you i did that with sandra with our feud back in the day do you remember that you started that tyson yes i did i'm not gonna let anybody come for my queen parv that's my guy i talked about it last night on the i talked about you last night on my show with sarit yes oh yeah i was flying back from a ski trip in winter park with my family and i get a text when i'm when my plane is taking off from tyson it says you and sandra beefing said i guess we are now you started it yeah i am i can be an instigator uh but you know what the other thing is parv with that is that i know that you're always down to play so i can tech i can have an idea that's for you and text you and be like you should maybe do this and then you are like i will and i'm like yes thank you it's funny like when uh uh when you said you should be the new host of survivor at one point after a lot of stuff was happening and that was really fun and uh yeah we've had some yeah you yeah you said that too yeah that was me yes i will i will take um positive suggestions of any kind to cause mischief mainly yes i love that i love that you're willing to do that that's my i wouldn't say it's my favorite thing about you but i take great confidence in knowing that if i have a good idea that's for you you will at least consider it where some people are like i don't know i don't want to ruffle any feathers i was like that's what we're here for to ruffle feathers to be bad girls yeah we're bad girls we're not bad girls yeah you um before we go parv uh i was gonna say my computer is gonna die so i don't want to winner pick who's your winner pick for season 51 oh good question oh lewis definitely okay and i'll say the other person i really like is the girl who i don't remember her name right now but she's so cute and she's wearing the overalls and she told that guy who's so annoying the wrestler guy who i cannot they can talk in the morning speaking i plug my ears yeah um i love her she was like will you just give me that advantage and he's like okay love that yeah yeah genius i feel like if she can get it find her footing and lewis i'd love to see the two of them at the end who do you guys like i don't like that many people this season those are my winner pick is kristin i think she's playing a good balance of like authority but not a dictator like she's a calming rock like you need someone like that in your corner to be like i like her too she's the lesbian yes yeah we like her too and ori i like him as well he's very like calm and ori also very calm and straightforward ori actually reminds me of uh of my relationship with jervis where i knew that sometimes if i was like getting too long with my ideas i could look at jerv and be like does this make sense he's like no that doesn't make sense stop you're overplaying it's gonna be a disaster and i was like okay you're right i don't know i just thought it would be cool and also maybe a way to and he's like don't go for the layup like jerv yeah sometimes yes you do need that's sari for me she does that for me yeah we need people like that because we really want to take it to the extreme yeah you and i together we should we should we should play something we almost did we were almost on australian survivor together so close so close i had a contract in hand um but next time next time next time are you would you play survivor again no i don't think so i i don't know if i would ever get the itch again like i'm older and i just don't i don't have the desire to go to any extreme to win i'm comfortable i'm happy i like my life i like my friends would i get out there and be willing to do whatever it takes to get a million dollars i would try but i don't think i have that killer instinct where i was like i have to i have to close this i have to win this what if they flip this coin and it's like three million dollars or something i mean it does definitely does change it that definitely does change it wait what's this coin the coin this season they're gonna flip yeah go riley they're gonna yeah they're gonna they're gonna flip the coin each season like they did uh last season but so if it lands on heads or whatever then they'll double the pot to two million but if it doesn't then the person who flipped it goes home and it rolls over to the next season so now the flip the next season will be for an additional two million and if it lands wrong that's it season then it would roll the next season and the flip would be we'll add three million to the pot and it just keeps going until eventually it gets uh it gets um you know landed on and then it resets yeah oh and then it resets so it's not gonna ever be like a hundred million like the lottery no well if it lands on tails a hundred times in a row maybe yeah oh my god that would be crazy i would play you know survivor season 150 might be for a hundred million no but the contracts then would be like if we don't air the show and it gets canceled after filming we're gonna be like oh my god nobody gets paid anything and then when it hits the 150 million payday they'll be like no survivors canceled um they'll get they have insurance on these things they do have insurance yeah yeah they do have insurance but that is that is parv what would it take for you to play survivor again would a larger prize pool of three or four million dollars be enough for you to go back to survivor u.s survivor yeah no 10 million what's wait wait so why why why the the clarification on u.s versus like australian survivor you would go back i think you can read between the lines riley okay okay if you don't know go ahead and just gotta ask the question though reach out to uh yeah no um and i'm kind of in the same boat uh and also it's like it's a lot to put yourself through i other shows pay way more they say um uh thank you you we couldn't have done this without you rather than you're welcome for the opportunity like you're welcome for the opportunity doesn't feel as good as thank you we couldn't have done this without you no yeah i'm i just want to be treated with kindness and respect that's it that's all i ask for that's what i give to others yeah um if i do see an injustice i will call it out so there is that side of me i'm not going to stay quiet if i see something happening that is not okay right um and some people don't like that so at this i like that you like that that's why we're that's why we're friends that's why we get along so well yeah at this stage of my life i don't need to put myself into any arena to be disrespected or treated poorly i know what i'm i know my value exactly and uh maybe it's worth more than three or four mil in the wrong environment you know yeah 10 mil yeah no i'm not it's not i think i know i'm really good at making money i can make money like i don't need 10 mil from anyone who's going to treat me like shit yeah yeah do you um no price no i don't think that i don't think the prize on top would be enough but at the correct appearance fee then there's a number when it's a guaranteed money we can talk a little bit but a one in 20 shot at 10 million for me i when i'm probably going to be one of the main targets initially is going to be a rough a hard sell so yeah yeah yeah it's like just give me a few hundred thousand dollars and vote me out first you and what's his name toe guy rob yeah you can cut you can cut your foot It could be an infection. at some point. Yeah. Yeah. I am very happy to talk about Survivor. I love that I get to come here and do that and have more fun than probably most of the contestants on the island are having, if not all of them. So this is a good spot for me. Yeah. You're great at it. You found your niche. This is your sweet spot. Thank you. Yeah. Podcast. Podcast. See, Survivor executives who are listening to this and thinking that we only poo-poo on the show, we're poo-pooing on ourselves over here. Podcast. Those losers. Yeah, exactly. No, I'll be doing a podcast too, I'm sure, next time. But there was no women. Also, it's only guys that are doing the podcast. Dick. Where's the women? Bro podcast? No. The worst, dude.
