Rhode Island Rob and Pat share their experiences following their early exits from Survivor, revealing deep personal pain and emotional turmoil. Rob suffered a severe foot injury during a challenge, which caused debilitating pain, sleeplessness, and mental instability. Despite his suffering, he chose not to inform the tribe or medical staff, adhering to a "tough guy" mentality that ultimately led to his exit. He later expresses regret for not speaking up earlier, believing the editing of his exit interview distorts the truth and creates a false narrative of him being a hero. Pat, on the other hand, was devastated by her early elimination, blaming every voter and vowing revenge, especially against Carter and Jenna. Both contestants acknowledge the psychological toll of the game, with the editing process shaping public perception more than reality. The interviews underscore how Survivor’s narrative often prioritizes drama and entertainment over authenticity, and both Rob and Pat embrace the criticism as part of their journey. Rob, in particular, turns the negative attention into a form of entertainment, planning to return with renewed fire. The conversations also reveal how personal decisions—like health concerns or emotional reactions—can have ripple effects on the game’s dynamics, illustrating the emotional and strategic complexity of Survivor. Ultimately, both share a sense of resilience, supported by their strong family and personal values, and are open to future reflections or returns to the game.

All right here we are at the pod has spoken we have two exit interviews today and a lot of people online are baffled as to why Rhode Island Rob would do exit press we're gonna find out here it is we are here at the pod has spoken and we have with us from the brink of death Rhode Island Rob Rhode Island Rob good to see you alive how you doing
what's going on guys
I'm alive I'm alive and well right now yes I'm just slashing away the haters right now I saw that are you enjoying fighting the haters I love it man I was built for this stuff I was built for TV so this is I don't mind some haters these people these people sitting on their couches wait a second wait a second you were built for TV but then you said you got a little cut on your foot here we go a little cut on the foot listen I'll explain this whole story because you know people just think I just went out the last day tell us tell us
something it was definitely something that affected my foot all right my foot's throbbing i'm going
through all this i'm getting chills when i'm sleeping i can't sleep it rises up all the way
to my kneecap so i know it's some kind of infection at that point i'm i know i'm pretty
much screwed i dealt with that all the way to was it day five the tribal mind you we did a challenge
with a big ass whale on my back orian carter over on the other side they can't come back over
unless they go over the wood it's me and sharonda having this huge whale while everyone's treading
water you know doing backstrokes so i had a 500 pound whale on me and sharonda's back i'm on that
same leg and foot on sandbags in the water i mean my leg was screwed so i mean again by the edit i'm
the idiot that day three i didn't tell anybody i didn't tell my tribe i didn't tell a doc i always
lie to the dog and say yeah doc i'm good in reality i wasn't good but my dad told me that
you never be a pussy you suck it in you don't tell anybody and that came to uh bite me in the ass yeah
that's the old school way uh my dad's the same way rub some dirt on it and uh keep going uh did
you go to the doctor when you got home um i didn't i mean when you get out of survivor i mean you go
somewhere else to a different place and uh i took some antibiotics there and i was good to go but
days later but i mean in the rest when i went to that place i was sleeping you know 12 13 hours a
day which was great for my body out there day three when it was and then on when i was going
with it all i wasn't sleeping my tribe didn't even know how to make a shelter i mean i'm sleeping on
one big bamboo one small one big one small you know all over the place so you're getting no sleep
not eating did you show him how to make one i'm a city boy what am i gonna show
the hell am i gonna show christian christian's like let's take the machete and go down the bamboo
he can't even pull it an inch i'm like what are you doing so it's it's a lot people sit on the
couch they're like oh you go on and you just leave like buddy you go through everything it came to day
five that's even why i wrote down eric's name i mean i mean wrote down my own name my mind was
gone my brain was gone it's like i wasn't talking anybody anymore i wasn't talking game because i was
so fluctuated with the pain i was still thinking about the pain and going through all the crap is
that anna carter was my my two people i didn't even tell them i wasn't writing my own name down
because they would have told me you're an idiot don't do that so i walk into the vote and i'm
thinking i'm this big macho man i'm like my legs screwed i mean i gotta go so let me give my idol
let me save eric he's the rhode island connection i'm gonna look like this hero
i didn't know the vote switched to uh anna because again i wasn't talking game anymore
so then when i vote when i voted for myself they said uh you couldn't and it's like
that's that's my reaction right there's no acting that's it so i mean that's some tv gold for some
people that even though you wrote your own name down yeah it is what it is so
so if the edit is not telling us the truth which sometimes it doesn't were you shocked by this
watching this back with your family was this something that you were like no i'm not shocked
at all i gave i gave cbs i gave survivor i gave them nothing i gave them nothing they had to run
with what they saw right there because day three when it happened day four when i was going through
it i didn't tell anybody so i gave them if i told somebody if i told the tribe or if i told the doc
these camera people would at least be showing video footage of me you know going through it
all and whatnot but there's nothing so i i can't i can't blame them for anything i can't blame them
for the edit i can't blame the child for thinking how they thought that like all right yeah rob just
bounce i can't blame them because if i was in their situation i would have thought the same thing
but the reality of is day three i got hurt and i just dealt with it throughout it all but again
i left cbs i left survivor no wiggle room to edit anything did you watch these episodes with your
kids and what was their reaction i watched episode one with the kids the kids loved it yeah everett's
my my seven-year-old was like dad this is awesome but i didn't watch the other ones with them and i
think everett saw dad did you vote yourself out man don't worry about it you you're hiding them
from the kids they don't know yeah they were the ones that said you couldn't they were the ones that
said you couldn't do it in the first place listen six days i feel like they might you know the great
thing about my family is that i got a great support system my kids are totally supportive
and they love me no matter what which is awesome like even coming back and all the haters on the
internet and i'm going back and forth with all these haters which i enjoy to say the least uh
even my support system and people at work they're all like dude you went on survivor that's awesome
like they don't even care about the outcome they don't care about anything like that so i just put
myself around a great support system yeah that's great that's funny uh so i mean that does make it
easier but generally that's what happens so what are you going to do with the haters now you're
just gonna keep uh fire yeah i'm just gonna keep fire back this is great like i feel like i was
meant to be a villain like i i i dressed up as jafar one year for halloween and i loved it so
you know i tell everyone bring the smoke i want the smoke so there was some castmates like getting
light like death threats like devin was gonna death threat and whatnot and they're bringing
heat on those people no no no no bring the heat to me bring the smoke to me i love it i will turn
all these haters and guess what one day we might see rhode island 2.0 and then we could hate on some
more yeah that's the beauty of television is that i think in a couple weeks everyone will forget and
move on to the next thing um you got a banana on your hat look at that i do i just bought it last
night i went out with i went out without a hat and then halfway through dinner i was like i shouldn't
have left howard i would have no hair you have here just to give her that i have a pretty good
hair but i still yeah sorry i'm flexing i'm 47. you know right i shouldn't be like this but
you know blessed uh so my challenge to you rob if you are bringing in the haters and stuff is
show your kids these episodes and then let's see their reactions that's a good one yeah yeah yeah
that's actually really all right let me write that stuff down yeah because you but but lead with
like hey you guys said i couldn't do this well i got something to show you i could do that well
my seven-year-old is brutal like he'll just tell you how it is which is great that'll be good uh
good content all right i'll take you up on that i'll have to do that okay i love it i love it um
is there any regret in leaving when you did or you felt like you had to do it and you yeah i think uh
i mean people don't know the pain of course because they're not in my body just like you know
i totally respect the doc and john and jeff that they they go by their list of what they can take
people out and what they can't take people out and i respect that that's so part of the game
but they don't know what's going on in my body they don't know what i was dealing with with the
no sleep because of the pain etc so um at the end of the day i'm a father of three kids i'm not a
deadbeat i'm actually in my kids life take care of them all the time my wife flies out to be a nurse
and i'm with them just by myself and take care of them so i had to think to myself listen i if
this is an infection or stuff like that i can't have something go wrong crazy go wrong or lose
a limb or something crazy to happen and then i can't come back and be the dad i want to be and
take care of my three kids so i made that decision that i didn't make a selfish decision
i made decision for my family my biggest regret is going back i should have said something because
now like just with the edit the edit looks how it looks because that's all they had
so
my biggest regret is day three i should have just swallowed it and said yo i just stepped on
something i think my foot's you know i think my foot screwed i should have said something to the
tribe and i said it should have been real with the doc because the doc was awesome the doc was
i'm like this doc is unbelievable like tice you dealt with the same doc enough no different doc
but they were they've always been they've always been awesome i had a great time the production was
great cast of people great the doc everyone was awesome i have no complaint to that and i i
I'm not mad about the editor at all, I did it to myself.
So it is what it is.
That's my biggest regret, just not speaking out and telling everybody.
Okay.
So Survivor does another season.
Hell yeah.
Hell yeah.
Hell yeah.
You're in.
Yeah, I'm definitely in.
Yeah.
I mean, Jeff says what?
Jeff says fire represents your life.
My fire never went out.
So I'm always, I'm down.
Yeah.
Hell yeah.
And I got to silence these haters now.
I got more fuel.
I got to silence the haters.
Yo, how pissed would the haters be if Robbie Robb's back?
Like, oh my God, me coming off a boat.
Oh, they'd be mad.
Oh my God.
Yeah.
Set the world on fire.
So CBS, if you're watching and you want ratings, it just makes sense.
Are you bringing in the ratings?
I felt like I did.
Yeah.
I felt like I was TV gold.
I felt like if I didn't get injured, I felt like I was the main character.
I mean, a lot of people go by, let's see TV time and let's see how they had it.
I was all over that.
But I came to play like an OG.
I played a game.
I came in to play like a Tyson.
Not to toot your own horn.
But I didn't want to float around.
I wanted to play a game.
I went out.
I looked for an idol for like 20, 25 minutes, half hour while people were bullshitting.
I came here to play.
It was a legit business meeting for me, for my kids.
I came here to kick asses and take names.
Didn't go the way I wanted to.
That's okay.
Right.
Well, we had fun with it, Rob.
We're glad you're having fun with it and you seem healthy and happy.
Yeah.
Which.
Uh, we had no doubt your leg was fine, but mentally and emotionally, sometimes that can
take its toll, so I'm going to kick your ass, what do you live, where do you live?
We got to get a restaurant in Mesa, Arizona.
I'm in a gated community.
You can't get me a bullshit.
I can get in Rhode Island.
I remember the guy that voted for himself.
Oh yeah.
Come on in.
Yeah.
We'd let you in.
All right, Rob.
Uh, we've had a lot of fun.
Thank you so much for doing this.
Yeah.
A lot of people were like, is he going to even do exit press?
And we were happy you were, cause we know that that means you are taking it all in stride,
which we love, so, uh, best to you and yours.
Thanks again for the time.
And, uh, who knows, maybe we will see you on survivor again.
You never know.
2.0, 2.0, boy, the haters go wild, reddits go wild.
Okay.
All right.
That was Rob.
You heard it from him.
I guess he really was hurt somewhere.
Uh, and now.
The person we've been waiting for.
Well, have we been waiting for her?
Not really.
We didn't want her to go home this early.
Pantless, Pat.
Here she is.
Pat, talk us through it.
Like we, we, I asked you if it was the worst thing that's ever happened in your life.
You said it was pretty bad.
Pretty bad.
What were your feelings in that moment?
Oh, oh my gosh.
A lot of anger.
So much anger.
Um, I, I, I mean.
Uh, I'm going to take some responsibility myself, but also at, I would.
But you didn't leave being like, I'm angry at myself.
Who were you, like, were you, who were you blaming?
Who were you?
Like, I have to make sure their kids don't get into college in 20 years.
Every single person who voted for me, I was mad that people put hearts on the parchment.
I was like, don't write my name down with hearts on it.
That's like, ah, don't you dare.
So yeah, I mean, it was genuinely.
Every single, like, I would have had a kill list.
Um, and I thought like, maybe I'd get a redemption round.
Like, so it was like, they took me out and they make you sit in that thing.
I paced.
I like did circles.
You thought you were going back in.
Well, I was like, maybe, maybe I was not willing to give up.
And then they brought me out, like sat me in front of the camera.
And I was like, oh, this is it.
Okay.
So, yeah.
Well, you had some fun closing words about hamburgers and revenge.
Cheeseburgers.
Cheeseburgers.
Like I always did the cheese.
Cheeseburgers.
Yeah.
Sorry.
Cheeseburgers.
To me, they're the same thing, but I do, I guess.
Yeah.
I mean, they don't taste the same, but if you say hamburger, I'm not assuming it doesn't
have cheese on it.
I'm assuming it has cheese on it.
I don't know.
It's probably my fault.
What, uh, what revenge were you dreaming up for these people?
I mean, I would have, if I had come back to the game, I would have tried to go.
One by one and vote each of them off.
Um, yeah.
And I probably would have started.
I think I would have started with Carter for flipping me or maybe Jenna.
Cause you were close.
I would, I would have come back with a, with a list though, for sure.
Or I started.
Did you recognize that the Alliance of that group of five was so obvious to everyone else?
Okay.
No, because the reason.
It was so obvious was because Brady called us the vibe five, something I never heard about
until after the game and then disseminated like the lore of the vibe five to people who
are not in it.
Like told Lewis and Maggie, like you could be six, seven, eight, like whatever.
They're like, what?
No, there's 11 people out here.
What are you talking about?
So, yeah, I mean, and I got to take some credit on the Alliance member choice.
But did it make you feel?
Did it make you feel good to be part of the cool kid group?
Cause it did seem like the cool kids all came together right there.
I mean, no, we did not think of our, I mean, no.
Nobody thought of themselves as the cool kids.
You need me to tell me Devin's not out there being like, I'm the leader of the cool guys.
Um, I mean, no, that was the vibe.
Vibe means cool.
Does vibe not mean cool?
That was not.
Okay.
So Brady.
I would say maybe thought this is like the cool kids gang and like everybody else is
on the outside.
That was like, not our intention.
Were we cool?
Obviously.
Uh, but no, this like misfits versus cool kids.
That was like Kilby's biggest, like in my mind, that was in his mind.
But you were never letting Kilby in the cool kid group.
No, like I liked Kilby.
And then Kilby was like, to me, off the rails.
I was like, where is your game at?
I have no idea.
Like words here, words there.
Like he's still to this day will tell me like, no, I trusted you and wanted to work with you.
Well, okay.
Confessional time.
He's like, I don't trust that.
I'm like, I know.
Why didn't he trust you?
Um, honestly, I don't, I mean, yeah, I'm not sure.
At that time, hard to say whenever the confessional was, but maybe at that time he shouldn't have trusted me.
But I don't think he did before.
I mean, I, I think that like, for some reason there was a breakdown.
He was closer with jelly.
I think he wanted to be close to jelly, jelly, like short up relationships like that.
Like she already wasn't even on people's lips there.
Um, and I think that she and I, like the way that it was seen was that we were a little bit like strategic on the other side.
And so, yeah, I mean, she did a better job than me at those relationships.
Okay.
Uh, I can talk to you all day.
Pat, but Riley wants to say something.
Oh, no, let's go to the bone first.
What do you got?
Yeah.
Wait, what's the bone to pay?
Hold on.
First off, I love y'all's podcast, but we're going to move on because I don't have enough time.
Riley, you tried to, you know, wait, we said we can take extra time.
Steve said we can take extra time.
Yeah.
Correct.
Especially if you're going to tell us how great we are.
So, yeah, you guys are my favorite.
I love you.
This was, I messaged you guys.
I don't fight in DMs often, but this was like my podcast type.
And I've also cited you multiple times in multiple interviews, including ones today.
I quoted your, like, if I played against me on Survivor, I'd vote me out first too.
Uh, which I, I love.
Someone asked me like, oh, like, you know, do you see yourself as a threat?
Like that whole thing.
I was like, I mean, you said it best.
Um, but Riley.
But Riley, the bone I have to pick with you is that you tried to have a conversation about
whether being an early boot or being fit was a better position.
And that is craziness because like, as an early boot, you have to go your whole time.
Talk to your family about like this, this season is coming up that everyone's getting
all riled up about.
People are pumped.
Like your coworkers.
Workers are throwing parties and you're like, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool.
Like all of you.
So that's brutal.
And then Pondy, knowing you're not on the jury.
Are you kidding me?
That place was hell except for Aaliyah, who is a queen.
Um, I mean, there are other people that were great, but like Aaliyah ran that shit.
Um, but.
Oh, shots fired at Rob again, catching strays out here.
Uh.
Pat, to back Riley up here a little bit.
I think if you are a finalist that receives no votes, that is mentally in the long run
more torture than getting voted out early from Survivor.
Okay.
Yeah.
So that was not a conversation though, because you were saying like a fit vote.
You've had that conversation too.
And now when I, I can like jump on board with a little more, it's like, do people actually
believe me?
But I, I.
Yeah.
I think.
I think you're right, fourth or fifth,
'cause then you get targeted for being
a huge threat which is a huge compliment so you're like yeah of course i was dude we talk
about the fact that like then you're walking away with a lot more cash like you don't feel like you
like gave up your job and like went to an island to three episodes you made 15 grand easily you
can't tell us how much you made but i'm guessing in that neighborhood like i don't know what i
mean but that's tough oh yeah you'll find out at the end uh you might be america's favorite and
get that sia cash too pat what have you got the sia cash as a third vote out that would be
incredible i'll start you now yeah okay everybody let's see you know in my in my defense because
we've done this pod for a while and we've talked to a lot of different people some of the people
that we've talked to who went
really far in the game and lost because like one vote out or whatever are still super scarred by
that even many years later they will be like if i just done this one thing or this thing or whatever
and it just you can feel the weight on them yeah but we don't ever talk we don't ever check in a
few years we don't ever check in with the early moves this is a thing i did one summer and you
know we do sometimes we do sometimes pat we'll check in with you on a future season yeah we'll
check in pat you can be on the podcast one day you're already on it this is you on the podcast
but we'll do a more formal a few years from now when it's less fresh we will check in on you and
see if it stings the same as whoever loses in like fifth place this season we'll see we'll put it to
the test oh yeah i've talked and we'll have just i'm angry with me okay she already knows
riley all right okay i'll accept being wrong on this too i've never been in this position so
i'm sorry you went out so early yes um great thanks jason
riley did you have something for pat or that was it yeah i do i do have a oh pat has something for
riley yeah fire one more at right because 33 going on 23 though did i say that yeah i did say that i'm
sorry i said that dude that doesn't sound okay also also in also in my defense is uh um i said
that i reserved the right to change my opinion on everything because we only got like one minute
with each of you before the season it was just so little yeah
two yeah we got nothing we just got a little and and they edit those videos to be as like bubbly and
big personality as possible so you know you're like you're not getting you're not peeling back
any layers in that priestess and stuff at all i'm like once we actually get the show going okay
all right you're like putting me through the face this is the most confrontational podcast
i didn't expect this from you you messaged us before the season like i love the pod and
actually you're like the knives are out
revenge from pat dude she's this is therapeutic for her this feels good riley just let her have
this yeah okay that was my last one okay i did want all right okay i do have a question for you
so this this episode we get this brief shot you have this gnarly like scrape on your back
how did that happen and were you worried that it would get infected and did you consider
leaving the game because it might get infected i did get infected i was taking antibiotics uh
i never thought about leaving the game um we so it came from pushing the boxes
as you know like it gets stuck on that net and so i was like holding the net up with my
back um and like running through it to like allow the box through and it ripped off the skin on my
back um so sleeping was super fun and then i had this sick like tiger jacket that i wore
for two seconds and then i tried wearing it again at some point and it ripped all the skin off of my
back again stuck yeah gross yeah you're a wool person from now on yeah fabric of our lives um
yeah i'd be okay i i'd be pretty devastated too if i had the skin ripped off my back and
also went home you know as early as this on day six day seven yeah
it wasn't fun yeah so i see your point and you didn't think of eating the thumb and the skin
together in a sauteed rice mixture i just agreed to me so wow what an option um yeah
yeah no i think the answer is no i didn't think about that but now that i know it was on the table
maybe pat we questioned this after we recorded
the podcast last night and you would be the perfect person to answer this for us
devin went on that journey to the other tribe carter went on that other journey then they're
on the same tribe did they not have a conversation about what happened on their respective journeys
did we not because we didn't see any of that last night did they not cross-examine did nobody
like be like hey carter has an advantage or devin has an advantage because we know like they were
both there yeah i'm even
the brady so so the brady maggie the maggie advantage that brady gave her um was an open
secret pretty much i mean everyone kind of okay knew about knew about that yeah we guessed that
brady probably told everybody in his alliance as soon as he gave it to maggie okay uh yeah and we
we knew about that yeah we guessed that brady probably told everybody in his alliance as soon as he gave it to maggie okay uh yeah and we
devin said that it had been in the ladle which also by the way one of my favorite things was
realizing that you could have just unspooled it and gotten it instead of smashing both of our oars
which was wild we love that too we love that we love that the first thing they thought of was like
it's probably right in the heart of it let's smash it to smithereens and see that was so
like that could not have been more emblematic of like our our originality it was like we're just
um yeah so oh man did they talk about it so that and then devin said devin told everyone
um that he had gotten the the same thing but he said he like searched through the ladle and never
found it okay but he did find it yeah so he did lie which he does do
oh right we've been figuring that out that he has been lying even though he keeps
telling us he's not going to lie yeah yeah i i do kind of love devin for that but yeah
yeah i guess riley riley not feeling it no i i just this happens to everybody who comes on
survivor and they're like i'm just gonna play an honest game and then by day three they've got a
web of lies that they can't even keep track of but they still they still convince themselves that
they're telling the truth though yes they're still like i never i never called you a liar i just said
some of the top ceos some of the top ceos in the country operate like that they just just
think that they're telling the truth all the time and they don't understand why everybody
doesn't uh appreciate what they're doing for humanity it's easy to lie to yourself first yeah
yeah yeah ashley do you have a great way of putting it for pantless pat which by the way
you gave yourself that nickname okay i'm clearing yourself now all right now okay i did have a
thing okay
is it is it at riley or at me is that you guys no i did not give myself that nickname that was
people were saying it it was around the block who knows who said it that's lost to time now but i
wasn't the first person to say it to be clear i was the first person on that episode to say it so
in survivor i didn't give myself anything where were your pants
guys every other piece of clothing that i brought on survivor was from goodwill
then i bought it from goodwill and i bought it from goodwill and i bought it from goodwill
and i bought these pants at like a boutique it was like this um designer that's like a small
designer he's super cool i was like oh i have these sick pants genuinely they were the only
expensive article of clothing i had um this is the red people that were bad um and i had these
ridiculous pants i jumped in they immediately were like a hindrance in the water like fell down
and so i took them off i thought i was gonna like swim to shore
and i handed them to uh the raft they for some reason got like passed around everywhere and
then i made it to shore the pants never did and genuinely like we've had conversations
since then about like who did it fingers have been pointed um we've got culverts never found
the pants ory mike um to no one who knows who stole those pants
you have a whole cork board up in your room over threads going everywhere listen i'm going to i'm
going to stand by your decision here pat and let the audience know a little bit you're going on
national tv you want to look fucking cool you don't want to spend a ton of money on everything
but the one thing that you're like this looks absolutely cool and i can't replicate this
coolness with something less expensive or less expensive and i'm going to stand by your decision
uh meaningful you just roll with it like yeah it's true that was like supposed to you know
your item and it was in a way so here i am yeah it all worked out i guess ashley what do you have
for pat i could recognize exactly once and they said you're and then they like clearly wanted to
say pantsless fat and they were like on survivor
um i want to bring it back to your last uh statement on survivor about you know
wanting revenge over a cheeseburger did you end up getting a cheeseburger and did that make you
feel better afterwards i didn't make me feel better nothing could kill this what if you ate
it out of revenge oh i did it was full revenge yeah no it was me inhaling i ate a steak i ate
a lot to be honest i like i wasn't gonna abstain from food even though what i really wanted was
revenge um but yeah i got i i got my food i got my steak i even made a dish at ponderosa
so alia was like whipping the kitchen staff in the shade like as a chef
you
was like these are what we like this is what we don't like like fixing our menu she's amazing
and uh and my menu item is kind of disgusting but it's like fries steak gravy cheese and
caramelized onions it's like a heartache but good time but yeah that's my that's my ponderosa meal
which is so gross now that i'm saying it but i loved it but you don't eat that in
your
regular life that was just a thing you concocted out there yeah i mean r.i.p i actually probably
haven't had one since since island so that changes tonight now that i'm saying i'm like
this sounds pretty good yeah it doesn't sound bad the cheese on the steak is a little weird but
cheese on fries is is great um well pat we hope that you get all the revenge you want and more
because uh
that would make some good podcast material for us over here at the pot has spoken
we're sad to see you go we're very sad we did not expect it to be you last night
uh and why couldn't it have been somebody else why did they go for you i mean because
tanan thinks you're too cool yeah i mean i think i think that's exactly it
but you know
yeah she had the
correct read all right that'll do it uh thank you so much pat for your energy thank you for making
great television we're sad that you're gone but you're forever in our hearts you guys too
see you all soon thank you so much pat okay riley what'd you think of uh of rob was he hurt
did you now determine that he was hurt i i mean i don't know i guess it's a little more up in the
air if he was really feeling like if i got a cut on the foot and then was feeling pain shoot up all
the way to my knee as he said he was yeah i'd be concerned too that said i would also be pushing a
lot harder probably to stay and be like you know can you get me on antibiotics like what can we do
let's see how this feels tomorrow let's see how this feels the next day and you know from what
we saw in the episode he was kind of more like it's affected i'm out that's true especially
talking to pantless pat and she did get antibiotics in the game for her shredded uh back so yes we
know they'll give you antibiotics on the i already knew that i didn't even think of that like if he's
so concerned with his health in that moment why not say can we have some antibiotics then do
something uh so yeah that is that's a really good point riley wow but i do i do appreciate at least
the way he's like all right i can take it you know like bring all of the
the smoke the criticism you know i thought that was fun he could have come on this podcast and
been super defensive and touchy and whatever and he really wasn't so i like that yeah uh
yeah he was fun he was definitely fun um i i do think it's very funny that he thinks that
you know there's any chance he's gonna get invited back to survive
do you think you think he truly believes it i also
yeah i i'm i'm trying to think of uh my words here for for him
yeah be careful as we found out uh you know some of these contestants
are listening and they will bring it up back up again
how did that feel riley with with pat coming at you that was awesome that's great i love it you
know i i i'm happy to take it too and you know i think that part of what we want to do on this
podcast is be really honest about how we feel about both people and the show and everything
else and that means sometimes some people are going to be upset about that and i welcome
like come back on and like give it back to us so yeah i said at one point that pat was 33 going on
23 which is like a very rude thing to say granted i had like 90 seconds of footage of her to make
that opinion in my defense but you know yeah of course like if i were in her shoes and be like hey
you know i'm happy to take it too and you know i'm happy to take it too and you know i'm happy to take it too
uh you know that was messed up that's pretty rude in our defense as a podcast we have only
been doing exit press for now this is our second season and one of our goals is to get away with it
you should just say stuff about people and we'd never hear back yeah we used to a little different
now you don't know you didn't know it's coming back but we aim to be therapeutic for these people
so i hope in some capacity with rob and with pat that they got a little bit of closure from being
on this and also
with rob that's what i was going to say is that he can say a million times that he had an infection
and maybe he did but because of what we saw on tv no one will ever truly believe that that is what
happened yeah like they will think that and i was told that long time ago even if it didn't happen
that way if they see it that way on tv everyone is believing what they saw on tv
true so at some point rob i probably should have told this to him he just has to lean in and be
like yeah i almost had to get it amputated or just be like yeah i quit i don't like it either go one
way or the other with it um but nobody it's going to be a hard sell when they saw something happen
on tv and are being told that that's not what happened so um anything else on those two
interviews before we get to the end of the show thank you so much for joining us and we'll see you
we uh get to things we missed real quickly we don't have a lot but we got a little bit
i do think one thing that kind of made me go hmm towards rob was that he never mentioned
feeling bad for anna because he kind of like just took her spot basically if he was in so much
asked about that i guess yeah yeah but he also he tried i guess you know he was waiting for
eric to play the shot in the dark he thought
all the votes were going to be on eric and then i think in a re-vote he would have been like ah just
make it me or whatever right if there was all the votes were negated i guess he was left out of that
plan he didn't know anna was getting votes there's a million ways he could have did it i feel like he
could have just been like ouch jeff my foot hurt and then anna could have been saved um i think
he's a little bit of a bullshit artist i like that that he is because like he the way he talks
he makes us laugh and stuff but then i'm like hey
what about that one part like you took anna's bit and she could have been in the game for a lot longer
maybe maybe not but maybe a lot longer and then it messed up pat's game too on top of that
you know it kind of it's it's it's a slippery slope of of things that he did impact on the
game and maybe maybe that's what he wanted he impacted the game good job but yeah a little bit
a little bit i mean everybody impacts the game in some capacity they are a hinge so
it was so direct and so quickly that yeah like because of rob going out carter went to the other
side which then is the reason pat was eliminated which is crazy uh butterfly effect i think is what
we could call that maybe yeah yes so we only have two two items to touch on from uh the podcast last
night of things that we maybe didn't delve into enough one of them i brought up with pat about
why we never saw devin and carter talk about their journeys or cross cross reference them or
talk about the advantages and pat did tell us that it was talked about a little bit and everybody knew
that maggie got that uh advantage from the ore so that brings us closer there and then the other one
was at the challenge we saw the physicality of everybody elbowing we heard the punch sound
that wasn't that physical but we did see that but the question and comment was
does that impact their game future like you elbow somebody in the face at the challenge
and then later down the road are you like at the merge out to get them or does that do you have
animosity towards people like that does that rub people the wrong way um my experience has
been that in the heat of the moment and in those tribal competitions yes if somebody punches me at
a at a challenge the next challenge I am out to get them but as soon as the merge comes and we
come together all of that is just left on the field and it's so I don't think that it will have
an impact on Alexis's game was the player we were asked about specifically I don't think that that
will impact her game in any negative way is it only like after the game like if you do like the
worm after winning yes that's like the only time if you're celebrating in people's faces definitely
yes um so yeah I think if it's egregious and like really flagrant yeah that's something different
everybody's like they're a dirty player and they're gonna get you when the Jeff's not
looking at you and they're gonna get you when you're not looking at them and they're gonna
get you when the Jeff's not looking at you and they're gonna get you when the Jeff's not looking
looking at you and they're gonna get you when the Jeff's not looking at you and they're gonna
looking at you and they're gonna get you when the Jeff's not looking at you and they're
not looking yeah that's something different but if it's just like a hustle and tussle and
whatever for a puzzle piece nah nothing nobody's gonna hold that against you yeah that makes total
sense to me like I feel like that's how I play it too just you know you leave that stuff on the
field yeah but maybe other people are different and probably people who have yeah yeah maybe
that's more of a sporting background where you've been in positions like that in your
life who knows yeah other people could take it personally yeah I mean that's like part of
survivor right reading how different people are gonna take different things right so okay
anything else before we shut this one down nope like this is great yeah just one thing see ya
Thank you.
Podcast Summary
Key Points:
Rhode Island Rob suffered a serious foot injury during the season, experiencing intense pain that spread to his kneecap and disrupted sleep and mental clarity.
Despite the pain, Rob did not inform the tribe or medical staff until day five, citing a "no-pussy" mindset and a belief that he should endure hardship to prove toughness.
Rob believes the editing of his exit interview exaggerates his injury and decision to leave, as no video footage of his suffering existed to support the edit.
His decision to exit was driven by fear for his health and family—specifically the risk of losing a limb or being unable to care for his children.
Rob expresses no regret about leaving but admits his biggest regret is not speaking up earlier, which led to the perception of him being a "hero" in the vote and damaging his credibility.
Pat, another contestant, was angry and bitter over being voted out early, blaming every voter and vowing revenge, including targeting specific players like Carter and Jenna.
Both Rob and Pat experienced significant emotional tolls, with the show’s editing shaping public perception more than reality.
The interviews highlight how Survivor’s narrative and editing often prioritize drama over truth, and both contestants embrace the public scrutiny as part of their experience.
Summary:
FAQs
Rob left Survivor due to a severe foot infection he developed on day three. He experienced intense pain that radiated to his knee and was unable to sleep or eat properly. Despite his injury, he didn't inform the tribe or medical staff, choosing to endure the pain until he made his decision to exit.
No, Rob did not tell anyone about his injury. He consciously chose not to disclose it to the tribe or medical personnel, following a mindset from his father of 'not being a pussy' and 'sucking it in'—a decision that later became a source of regret.
The edit may appear to show Rob as a tough, unharmed survivor, but Rob clarifies that the injury was real and severe. He emphasizes that the edit doesn't reflect the truth and that the production team had no footage of his pain, so they had to rely on what they saw.
Rob embraced the criticism and enjoys the attention from haters. He says he was 'meant to be a villain' and is excited to bring the 'smoke' back, even threatening to return in a future season known as 'Rhode Island 2.0.'
Rob's biggest regret was not speaking up about his injury earlier. He wishes he had told the tribe or medical staff, which would have allowed for better medical intervention and potentially changed the outcome.
Yes, Rob took antibiotics after leaving the game and managed to recover. He also mentioned that he had been sleeping 12–13 hours a day, which helped his body heal during the time he was away from the game.
