Stop Doing THIS In Your Content And Make More Money

The speaker emphasizes a critical content marketing error: leading with the solution or industry terminology rather than the audience’s lived experiences. Using a client example in nervous system work, they explain that phrases like "heal your nervous system" fail because people don’t care about the term—they care about specific pain points, such as waking at 3 a.m. with anxiety or feeling urgency with client messages. The key is to describe exact symptoms and byproducts (e.g., meltdowns in fitting rooms, avoiding engagement photos due to weight) to make content self-resonate. This triggers attention and desire, as people connect with what they’re currently going through and what they want to experience. The speaker argues that being oddly specific, not broad, increases reach and conversions, citing a niche dietitian billing coach with a seven-figure business as proof. They stress that hyper-specific content can replace sales calls by doing the closing work, and that most coaches lack this skill. Ultimately, the message is to lead with symptoms and desired outcomes, not solutions, and to get micro-specific to drive engagement and sales.
I did a content audit today for a client and it was another reminder for me to make one of these trainings and talk to you guys about a huge mistake that people are just making in their content over and over again and they don't even realize it. Okay, so this client does nervous system work and help people grow their business. Okay, and she's making content and she's not getting as many conversions as she wanted to and it was very clear just looking at her content like why it wasn't working. One of the biggest reasons why it wasn't working is because she's leading with the nervous system instead of leading with what these people actually want to experience in leading with what is actually going on and what symptoms they are currently experiencing. Okay, so for example, she had a piece of content that says everybody is trying to fix their content, but nobody is trying to fix their nervous system running their business or something that was close to that. Like it's not directly in front of me, but it was like talking about how people are trying to fix the content, but they're not fixing their nervous system, right? Nobody knows or cares what people know, right? But like nobody gives a fuck about the word nervous system. People give a fuck about the fact that they're waking up at three in the morning every single day with anxiety and heart palpitations about their business. Nobody cares about nervous system regulation. They care about the fact that when they get a message from a client, they feel this like crazy sense of urgency that like everything needs to be responded to within like two seconds or they're a bad coach. Nobody cares about the thing, the word that it is that you provide, whatever it is that you sell that you don't care about nervous system. They don't care about any of that shit. They care about what they are currently experiencing and they care about that going away. And so the biggest mistake again that this client was making in her content is like she's just talking about like why the nervous system will help you fix your business. Here's three reasons why healing your nervous system will tell us your revenue like great. Nobody gives a fuck because nobody is resonating with the words fixing your nervous system. And even if you think you do, right? Like there's a lot of people that are like you got to do nervous system regulation. And I'm not even saying that that's the bad thing. Like of course, it's really important. But like that alone is not going to trigger sale psychology and that's not going to trigger somebody to buy anything. If you're just saying words, but you're not speaking a language that they are currently understanding based on what they're currently going through the symptoms and the byproducts of the nervous system regulation. It doesn't fucking matter. So if she starts making content that actually says the reason why you are waking up every single day at three in the morning, panicking about your business is not because you're not taking the right dose of melatonin. It's because of this. And then she talks about how her nervous system is dysregulated and the things that she needs to do instead in order to feel better. And then what the byproducts of that are going to be in order for her to actually then be able to be successful. I'm like it's so straightforward to me because again, I like do this all the time. And I think I forget how straightforward it is to me and how everybody is not just seeing it the way that I see it. You guys, nobody gives a fuck about what we do. Nobody. Nobody gives a fuck about what we do. People care about the problems we saw before them. And as people get to know you, they get to know your brand, of course, like no one trust you guys heard that a million times before. But it's like nobody is resonating with the word. People are resonating with the feelings that you are experiencing. Okay. Like if you're talking about content, heal your fertility in these five steps. Do these five things to heal your fertility? No, that's not going to do anything. If you have been trying to get pregnant every single month and you've taken musinex, you've done whatever and like you feel like your only hope is IVF, this is the one thing I want you to consider before you go down that road because that's what these clients are actually doing, right? Like they're taking musinex. I actually don't even know if that's a thing I just saw it on TikTok musinex. All these other things to like try to get pregnant. They resonate with that because that is what they are doing and that is what they are experiencing. That is what they are feeling. Right. But just saying like do this to fix your fertility. Do this to lose 10 pounds on the scale. Do this to whatever. Like that enough is not enough. You need to talk about what they are going through. What they are experiencing because that is actually how you trigger that part in your brain to actually make somebody want to pay attention to you. Okay. It's like a thing you want to let's say you want to like book a tropical vacation. Okay. You can find a post here are three tips for booking your tropical vacation. Okay. Sure. Like there are some tips that you'll look at might save it for later. Great. But there's no urgency in there. Nothing in there is actually going to make you want to do it. Right. But if you saw a post that says something along the lines of like you have been working your ass off for six months straight and all you can think about is your ass in the sand and a peanut colada in your right hand and you want a butler named Julio to wait on you 24/7 at this bougie ass resort. This is what we need to do or this is what you need to do immediately. That's speaking to then what you actively want to experience. Right. And it's speaking to what you're going through that you've been working your ass off for six months and you need to fucking vacation. But just by saying here's the here's three things to do to book your vacation. Here are three tips. Nobody gives a fuck about your tips. People care about what they are currently going through and so many of you guys are leading with the solution and you're not leading with the symptoms and then nobody resonates with the solution because they don't even know that they need it. Right. If you're just scrolling on social media and like you see stuff that says like feeling tired feeling tired on your business you need to heal your nervous system. Here are three ways to do it. Again nobody is resonating with that. Feeling tired on your business. What does that actually mean? That can mean anything to anybody. Again what are the very specific symptoms that your clients are experiencing? What are the very specific things that your people are actually going through? For example when I was in the weight loss business right I would talk about people having meltdowns in fitting rooms while trying on clothes because they knew that nothing was going to fit them. That is so specific. Hey if you are done having meltdowns in fitting rooms at American Eagle like this is literally my story. If you're done having meltdowns in fitting rooms at American Eagle because you just went up another size in jeans and you literally cannot even wrap your head around gaining more weight because if you go up another size you're going to want to fucking die. You need to listen to me. Okay. If every time you walk outside and shorts after you take 20 steps your thighs literally start to rub together raw and using deodorant doesn't work anymore and you want to lose 15 pounds here's what we need to do. If you if I wanted to lose the last 15 pounds without excessive cardio cutting out carbs without not doing taco and margarita night with my girls every other week this is what I need to do. Again we have to speak to what these people are going through and what these people actually want. Just saying here's how to lose weight quick like great like that's not actually good enough. It's like okay you want to lose 10 pounds that you can actually look so hot in that bikini that's been sitting in your closet and collecting dust since 2018. Here are the three things that you need to stop doing immediately. Again now that's speaking way more to what somebody is currently thinking and what somebody is currently experiencing because how many times right like I can even speak for this myself how many times I have clothes that are sitting in the dresser that I'm like waiting to fucking wear. If right now you won't throw out that pair of jeans from 2020 because you're telling yourself one day you're going to fit in them but every day that goes by it just keeps collecting more dust. Here's what you got to do. Again that's so oddly specific as to what people are going through. You guys need to get oddly specific as to what your people are going through. It's not about the weight loss. It's about putting that bikini on. It's not about healing your nervous system. It's about not fucking waking up at three o'clock in the morning with a bunch of urgency. It's not fixing ADHD. It's about having a million racing thoughts at any given point to the point where you feel like you're going crazy and you can't concentrate on anything. That's the difference you guys. We have to be a lot more specific in our content. If somebody does not immediately self-resonate with something they're not going to pay attention to it. And even if you say no my clients know what nervous system regulation is yes they know what it is but like they don't know why they need it until you tell them that they need it based on what they are going through. You guys have to listen to me. So many of you guys are just not hitting the mark on content and you guys are still being so broad. You're still not speaking to the symptoms and the bright products of those symptoms that people are experiencing. Right? You got to get a lot more specific. You got to get a lot more real. Don't talk about just what it is that you do. Talk about what these people are currently feeling and what they are currently going through. Right? Like let's say you are, let's say you're weight loss coach and you help women that are between 20 and 50 pounds overweight lose weight. Okay. So what's going on in these people's lives right now because they're not losing weight. Okay. Like what is it? What are your clients telling you? Like what are they holding off on? What are they not doing? Right? For example when I was in the weight loss industry a lot of people were holding off on like getting engaged or actually planning their wedding because like they wanted to lose weight. So like I would make content on that. I'm like if you're putting off your major life events getting engaged getting those photos taken for your engagement planning your wedding because you don't want to be an extra 20 pounds heavier in those photos net your wedding. But you know it's time to take control of your life again. This is what we have to do and this is what you need to pay attention to right now. That's way more specific than you want to lose 10 pounds. Everybody wants to lose 10 pounds. How can we speak to exactly what they're going through? What are your clients actually going through right now? And what are the byproducts of what they're going through? So somebody's going through being 20 pounds overweight. How is that actually showing up on their life and like making them not happy? Are they putting on their leggings every day instead of jeans shorts because like that's the only thing that's comfortable? Are they refusing to wear? They're really cute two pieces at the gym because they feel like they're going to look really fat if they do. Like what right now are they not doing and what are they not experiencing that they want to experience as a byproduct of not having those results yet? Again the more specific you are in these byproducts and the more specific you are and like the actual feelings that these people are feeling like it's going to be so much easier. And if you're saying well there's lots of things that my clients experience then you're not specific enough. You're talking the way too many fucking people you are way too fucking broad and of course again like not every single person is going to be going through a wedding right? Like it's not always going to be that specific. Sometimes it's like they just don't feel good in front of a camera right? But like it's all in the same kind of categories the same overall symptoms. The more specific that you can be and what you are doing the better it is going to be. And if you feel like oh if I get too specific I'm not going to touch enough people. No the more specific you are the more people you are going to touch. I fucking promise you I promise you I was even listening to this Alexormozy
was so old by the way, like it was something that just like popped up on my feet. I need to talk to him about one of his clients. She's a dietitian billing person. Like she helps dietitians set up like billing systems to like build their clients. And she has a seven figure business and all she coaches and all she works with are dietitians in the billing department. Like do you know niche that is? That's not talking to every single person but it works because it's very specific for that. The more specific you are, the easier it's going to be for you to make money. Thousand fucking percent. The more specific the better it's going to be. Get more specific. I'm telling you it will change your fucking life. Okay. Talk about the byproducts and the symptoms that they're experiencing and really sit with that right now. Okay. Think about it. Like what is it right now that you know your clients actually want to experience? What is it? What do they actually want? Not just lose weight. Why do they want to lose weight? Not just heal their nervous system. Why do they want to heal their nervous system? Like what will that open up for them if they heal their nervous system? Like what would that actually be if they actually started to implement on that? Like what would it actually look like? The more specific we can get on that the better this is going to be. Okay. You need to get very oddly specific as to exactly what these people are going through. Right. So like when I think about a lot of my clients, right? What are a lot of my people doing? They're posting literally every day on social media and no matter what they do, no matter how many messaging master classes or courses they take before they meet me, nothing is working. They don't understand why it's not converting. They're posting. They're showing up. They're getting the photo shoots. They're trying to make their brand look great and they're just not hitting the mark and like they just don't understand why and the reason why it's actually not working is because we're nowhere near specific enough and most coaches don't know how to do this. Most business coaches and most sales coaches, especially coaches that need to close on sales calls. And I'm not saying that that's a bad thing necessarily and like sales calls might be good for a lot of your businesses. But what I am saying is like if you do sales calls and like you're able to sell on the phone, your content is not always going to be as strong. The reason why I don't do sales calls and I've never had to do it is because my content does all of those closing things for me. I'm hyper-specific in my content. That's why I've been able to do this for so long and that's why my success has been so high. My content is so micro-specific. I'm exactly what these people are experiencing. That's why this works for me. That's why people will come into my programs and they will upsell into multi-five, multi-five figure programs. It happens all the time. But it only happens because I am so good at content. And so I'm not saying again like if you have another coach that does content, they don't know what they're doing. But what I am telling you is there is definitely a huge knowledge gap between coaches that are like specific in a hook versus like knowing how to actually captivate somebody and pull a whole piece together. And I know in here like you've seen me make some or you've heard some of these trainings about me getting really adept with content. There was another one I think six or seven days ago. Ha ha six seven. There was one that I posted about mistakes that people were making content too. Like you guys can listen to that one. It was a really good one and a lot of people make posts from that. But like you got to know how to make content. You got to know how to be specific. We can't again just speak to what people are going through. Like or what people what you think people are going through and what they need and you lead with what they need. You need to just lead with what they're actually experiencing the byproduct of that and lead with also the byproduct of what they want to experience. Defending on whether you're making problem or desire or where content. This is the big thing that everybody needs to remember right now. We got to get a lot more specific. Okay. Hope that you love this. I hope this made you realize where maybe you're making some mistakes, which is fine. Again, it's part of the block. We don't make mistakes, but we got to get better because the only way that we're actually getting what we want is if we get better at that shit. Alright. So I hope you guys love this. I hope this made you think and I'll talk to you tomorrow.
Podcast Summary
Key Points:
A major content mistake is leading with solutions or jargon (e.g., "nervous system") instead of the specific symptoms and experiences of the audience.
People don’t resonate with broad terms or what you sell; they connect with their own feelings, problems, and desired outcomes.
Content must be oddly specific—describing exact scenarios (e.g., waking at 3 a.m., meltdowns in fitting rooms) to trigger self-recognition and engagement.
Leading with symptoms and byproducts (e.g., not wearing jeans, putting off weddings) creates urgency and makes the solution relevant.
Specificity increases reach and conversions; being too broad fails to capture attention or build trust.
Hyper-specific content can replace sales calls, as it pre-sells by addressing precise client experiences.
Business coaches often lack this skill, but improving specificity is essential for content-driven success.

FAQs
Leading with the solution or product name (like 'nervous system') instead of leading with the specific symptoms and experiences the audience is currently going through.
Because people don't resonate with abstract terms or solutions; they resonate with their own feelings and problems. If they don't see themselves in the content, they won't pay attention or feel urgency to act.
Talk about the exact symptoms, feelings, and byproducts your clients experience, such as waking up at 3 a.m. with anxiety or having meltdowns in fitting rooms, rather than generic phrases like 'lose weight' or 'heal your nervous system.'
Instead of saying 'lose 10 pounds,' say things like 'if you're done having meltdowns in fitting rooms because you went up another size' or 'if you won't throw out jeans from 2020 because you hope to fit into them again.'
No, the more specific you are, the more people you'll touch. Specificity makes content relatable and helps you stand out, as seen with a coach who niche'd down to dietitians in billing and built a seven-figure business.
Lead with the byproducts of the problem, like not being able to sleep, feeling urgency, or avoiding social events, rather than the problem itself or the solution.
