Steve Ballmer Accepts His Fate, the Pistons’ Mess, the Year of Brunson Continues, and the A.I. Takeover

The podcast explores several key developments in the NBA and broader sports culture. Steve Bomer's public apology for the Clippers’ ownership controversy is framed as a dramatic shift in tone, showing accountability for fan distress while avoiding admission of wrongdoing. The Clippers completed a major trade with Toronto, sending away multiple future first-round picks in exchange for Brandon Ingram, Grady Dick, and other assets, signaling a significant roster overhaul. Toronto is projected to become a strong contender with Kauai Leonard, whose adaptability and defensive impact make him a pivotal addition. Meanwhile, Jalen Brunson’s rise in popularity—culminating in hosting SNL—illustrates the growing synergy between athletes and entertainment, offering a unique case of cultural influence. The discussion also delves into the emotional and psychological toll on players like Jalen Durin, who feel disrespected by contract offers despite their success, pointing to agent influence and misaligned expectations. The Clippers’ handling of Bradley Beal’s departure is criticized as disrespectful, particularly the use of the CP3 number, highlighting ongoing tensions between players and franchises. Overall, the segment underscores how player visibility, coaching changes, and personal agency are reshaping the NBA experience—balancing on-court performance with off-court identity, fame, and authenticity.

Welcome to the mismatch, I'm Chris Varnett, and joining me is it does every week from TheRigger.com, it's Dave J.Covid, J.Covid! I don't know, the Texas Ohio State game, and then just week one of NFL, and it was just so fun and satisfying just to sit on my couch and just watch all of the football and let the red zone channel just wash over me while I'm watching every game and none of the games at the same time. And then we have the night game, which is a bunch of my friends and giants fans, and they played the Cowboys, and everyone was paying attention to that. And our friend Steve just decided to use it as a little smoke screen. Hey everybody, I'm sorry, I know you're all watching football right now, just whenever you guys get around to it, by Monday morning, maybe you'll see this headline, but my bad, Steve Bomer, this has been a very difficult time for everybody associated with the clippers and for that, I have sincere regrets. I want to apologize to our fans, employees, my fellow NBA team owners, the mismatch, and every other podcast I'm just kidding, he didn't include us, for the distraction and distress this matter has caused, which I accept responsibility as principal owner. We are committing to put this chapter behind us. We have communicated with the NBA that we are complying with the penalties assessed by the league, have paid the fine, we moving forward, except for this whole federal investigation thing, which also seems to be moving forward. Do we think that this is, hey, can we please have some of our draft picks back? I'm sorry that I got, you know, I'm sorry I got my back up and I was acting like I was going to fight this, but this is going to be pretty bad for us. And so, is there any way we could just have like the trade go through and then maybe like get like one or two of those picks back or something like, can you go a little bit easier on us since since we're not going to fight this thing? I don't know if that will happen, but it's a certain dramatic shift in tone than the two statements that were put out after the punishment was levied, a dramatic shift in tone. So there might have been, there might have been some influential conversations that were had between the initial statement that was released and the one that was released literally deterring up Sunday night football game. I was like, I was looking at my phone, I was like, is this now like this? Where did this break? I was like, what is going on here? And you're going to love this, you're going to love this. So I'm a Cowboys fan. So this pops across and I grabbed my phone, I go, oh shut up. We can't, we can't, can't, can't, can't, can't, can't, can't, can't, can't. Just ran over three linebackers. Steve, I don't think for this, they've run the same play four times. I don't care if you're sorry. It's gone eight yards every single time. Every time, will somebody please cover Darryl Singletary? I can't take this. And yeah, we know, okay. And then Pablo's like, man on the street video, I'm like, but it's a shut off. It's just so much. And what I love about this is, it's when Steve bomber, I think he actually, with this initial Pablo stuff came out, I think he literally flew to Bristol to talk to Ramona. I'm not positive about that, but I think he got on a plane and flew to Bristol. I'm pretty sure that happened in Bristol. And he was just like, I've been conned. This is ridiculous. How dare, how dared you, right? That was just an initial thing. Yes. But that wasn't a prepared statement. This is not Steve bomber speaking into a microphone being honest. This is professionals writing this, rereading it, crafting it, getting everything right. This is a public statement that multiple, a handful of people worked on it, crafted. But this is one thing I love about it is you are married. You've been with your lady for a long time, as am I. The word sorry has lost all meaning to me. I empty apologize for things all the time. Like I don't even mean my apologies anymore. I'm just like, is this going to end this conversation? I'm wrong, you're right. I'm sorry. But this is what I love. One relationship can't understand this. This is the first sentence. This has been a very difficult time for everybody associated with the clippers. And for that, I have sincere regrets. I'm sorry that this has been hard for you. I'm not acknowledging that I've done anything wrong. I'm just saying to my wife, Joey, I'm sorry you feel that way. But that's not taking any accountability that I'm the reason she feels that way. This is why I love this statement so much. And he's like, there are still disagreements concerning the findings in the report. But I'm just going to, since I'm a nice guy, I'm just going to let that slide. I still think you lied on my name. I'm not saying I'm guilty of any of this. But just because I'm cool, I'll comply with the punishment. I love you. >> Well, because after all of their findings and this massive report and my documents and emails and journals and all of this stuff, you are left after that all came out. Okay, you have one of two things to believe, right? That Steve Boomer knew what was going on. And everybody is carrying out this devious plan to get a coiliner side money. The other choice you can make is to say, he didn't know anything was going on. And all of these people were doing all this stuff behind his back. And that is even more grossly possible, you know what I mean? Like, yeah, he even worse to me. It's like, wait, hold on now. You didn't know any of this was going on. So there was just no way out of it. And I think finally they came to terms much too late with the, there's no way out of this. And at this point, the only thing that can happen is we get hammered even worse. Like we've already screwed this up because the first leak came out. And it was like they found that Steve Boomer didn't know anything. And the lawyers have all been working together, basically on a plea deal, you know, Simmons floated out the heel pine that that would have made them mad. That that story coming out about them like, you know, basically making a plea deal would have made them mad. And then the NBA was like, oh, okay, this is how you want to play it and then drop the hammer down on them. And so now this is another like, all right, you've already tested us once. We already put in the document, hey, this ain't over. So boss in your court, man, you want to dig in your heels on this because we might not be done. And we'll keep on looking or we can just say, you know what, we found what we found. We penalized what we penalized you for. Say you're sorry and let's move on. And I think the choice was made to say you're sorry and move on. And we'll see, but I think it's been difficult. He's sorry. It's been difficult. He's not sorry for doing anything wrong. He's sorry. It's been difficult. Yes. And and and now it is going to be weird not seeing him at the games. It is. It is. I mean, I like seeing it at the games because he's just so Steve Parker, but like, I'm not going to miss him. I'm not. You're not going to miss him, but it is, it stands out in comparison to the other owners. Yes. It is much, it's much more like Cuban was in Dallas where it's like, we don't really. That's definitely a good point. I would say honestly, if you, I wonder what you think about this. If you were to line up all 30, oh, God, oh, yeah, no, no, you were to say and you were to match the owner with the team and their name. Oh, God. Oh, I don't know if I could get five. It's embarrassing. It's embarrassing. Hey, Rod, I can do this for a living. No, they're just not, they're typically out of sight out of mind. Yeah. No, I mean, they're also, well, it goes a few ways, you know what I mean? They're either out of sight out of mind or they're Jerry Jones, you know what I mean. So it's kind of like you have your, your Mark Cubans who's obviously no longer part of the team and your bombers and your people who sort of like really enjoy the camera and being associated with the team. And then you have your billionaires who are like, I hire basketball people to run the basketball stuff. I'm in the background right signing the checks. Right. And so not seeing any of the games that obviously they've got, you know, they've got a whole basketball season to play here in a couple of weeks with everybody going to training camp soon. They did let the trade go through as of yesterday. And so the final talent, you know, it's so weird when all of this stuff takes place over the course of the off season and the trades take place like We talked about it at the time, but this one was still hanging out there because of a pending investigation, and it had not gone through. The trade sending co-I-letter to the Clippers to Toronto has been made official after the month's long delay. The final tally, and he waved his trade kicker to facilitate the trade to Toronto. The Clippers are gonna get Brandon Ingram, Grady Dick, two unprotected first-round picks, one first-round swap, and two second-rounders in the trade. And of course, we know that they just lost five future first-round picks. And so I guess they get too back, right? - You're gonna get too back. - By trading co-I-letter, so down to right now. - 4% of your picks, I guess, but they're also, I think you'd probably rather half, you know, Clippers picks, rapturous picks, based on thick rosters that I'm looking at here, but, and the swap is for next year, so that's probably, you know, if the Clippers end up swapping that, I'd be pretty surprised, wouldn't you? - Yes. How bad do we think the Clippers are going to be? - Well, the thing is, is who do we think the Clippers are going to be? Are they done dealing? Or is this gonna be like a full-on yard sale, you know? Like, make your best offer for Brandon Ingram, but if you look at, they're starting five. First of all, pretty much every starting five of the NBA has five like talented, excellent basketball players so you can convince yourself to be good, but like, I like Garland Strus, Ingram, Ruey, and Lopez. Sure, I love Chris Dunn, Keaton Wagler. I wish that, um, Neeter Houser was, was available. - Wait, are you done after seven, or are we gonna get to eight? - Derek Jones, Jr. - Yeah, I like him. - Yeah. - Good roleplay. - You know? 'Cause, 'cause, I mean, I don't expect much from Dick or Bradley Beeler. I mean, Isaiah Jackson, I guess. - I don't expect much from Dick. - Please, the thing is, he's so like not relevant anymore that that joke doesn't even hit the same. - What? - It's, we really ate off of that thing. We were like, we, you don't think this is a good spot for Dick? - Oh, it's back. - I mean back. - He has a chance, he has a chance, he has a chance to get his career back on track. - Yeah. - Yeah, anyway, look, some Dick involved. - Here's the thing. Can they be better, if everybody thinks they're gonna think, can they just be good by being well coached try hard? - And I do actually think that's a possibility, like I don't like that. - Well coached try hard is also in Los Angeles, right? So teams are flying in, they play the Lakers and the Clippers, you've got a little knight in between, in LA, you know what I mean? They're tough out, they're tough out. They're not just like a, you see them on the schedule, like, all right, that's a way. - Well, and they're gonna prepare every single night, you know, they're gonna prepare, they are well coached, franchise, and you know, again, when somebody, again, there is an amount of games you will win simply because of the night life of LA. 'Cause you're right about that trip. - And there's no motivation to lose games whatsoever of the Clippers office. - Well, and also you go out the night before the Clipper game. That's the one you go out, you know what I mean? If you're gonna take it easy on your LA trip, you take it easy before the Lakers, 'cause you know you gotta face something that, but I mean, there will be a lot of, there'll be a lot of teams that look at the schedule and just mark that off as a win. And they got enough guys that, again, I'm not saying they're gonna win 35 games. What I am saying is you could see them being the tri-hard team, a tri-hard team that wins more than what you expect them to win. - Yeah, 'cause Drew's done, they got some guys. - And Jones will defend you. You know what I mean? Like they'll put effort into making your night heart. - Yeah, I mean, they're still gonna be bad. They're still gonna be bad. - On the other hand, on the other hand, Toronto has a chance to be awesome. - They're just interesting, they're just interesting. - They were already good. And if they get last year's Kauai, if they get the Kauai Leonard that played for the Clippers last year, that team could contend in the Eastern Conference. I believe that. - You just have to do something at the center position. That's not Yaka Portal. You just have to. - Well, I mean, they played the, you know what I mean? They played, I wasn't, yeah, Carter Bryan. Or not not Carter Bryan. - Yeah, Murray Boyles, Murray Boyles. - Yeah. And I mean, so they can do the small ball thing. And the other thing is, it was said that the, I like the Kauai Barnes fit much more than I liked the Ingram, Scotty Barnes fit. - Yeah. - And I do think that it could accentuate, you know, you had a weird deal where it was like, those two guys needing to be on the court yet, they're not necessarily the best fit together. And again, I'm a Darko fan. I thought that team was good last year. And they play hard as well. And they got some young athletes on their team. And I'm saying, if they get that Kauai, the one that played for the Clippers last year, they can be a real problem in the Eastern Conference. Like I do think that somewhere along the way, we have forgotten how amazing Kauai was last year. He was awesome. That's one of the best season ever. And it was, it was closer to his peak than he had been for probably four or five years. I think that's fair to say. - Yes. And I do think that we've got a, you know, now that that trade's gone through, Toronto is the one that is not talked about. They added a superstar. Like he's a legit superstar. They added a superstar, but he's not talked about in the same class as Philly and New York. - Even the heat, you know, he added a superstar, we're talking about that. But they also, I'd feel like they didn't give up, they basically gave a brand and anger for Kauai. That's basically what happened and so picks. But like functionally. - Also, I think it's fair to say, Leonard is about as malleable as superstars you can have. Like he is one of those guys that you feel like I could put Kauai Leonard on any team and he's going to fit in. Like I don't think, I think there's a lot of guys that the whole team's got to be built around you, right? We're just going to do that in LA. - They're thinking about Luka. - They've got a roster that's built around him. Now they've got a roster that is not Kauai. Kauai is not a, you got to build this thing out around him for him to be the player that you need him to be or to accentuate his superstar to him. I do think you could take Kauai Leonard, you could put him on any of the 30 teams and he's going to be awesome. - He does not have on court weaknesses, he has availability problems, that's it. But like if you think of a star, Brunson, Yanis, even Yokech, you can point to things they don't do well. There is nothing that you need to make up for with players around Kauai Leonard. - There is no handling, but he's a power forward. What are you going to do? - Also, we get to walk into that team and be the leading shot taker and the guy. That's another thing that these teams always have to go through whenever they're adding great players, right? We know in Miami that's very clear, right? Yanis is going to be the guy. But it is the discussion that is going to surround Philly. - Oh, yeah. - Who's leading Philly in scoring this year? - The ESPN has an article the last couple of days, it's like the usage rate math problem that they have, they've got like one of the highest combined usage rates in like the history of the NBA, which I've never been a huge like, there's only one ball, this isn't going to work. Person, I just feel like intelligent basketball players and coaches can figure this out and find your roles over the course of maybe two game season and be successful in the playoffs. But this raptors team is interesting. It's like between Barnes, CMB and Kauai, like those are three absolute defensive menaces. Now Kauai isn't the same as he used to be, but like, it's going to be hard to get space to get a shot. - Yeah. - On the, and again, I don't think there's any pecking order problems. I mean, this is going to be a Barnes Leonard operation. And I do think that he fits really well with them and I do think the raptors are going to be, if he is available, they are going to be a fantastic team. And a team that is not talked about in the same class as many of the favorites in the Eastern Conference and maybe they should be. A couple other news and notes that we need to get to, Mark Williams, I mean, once upon a time, a trade was rescinded to the Lakers where he was going to end up there, then found a home in Phoenix, signed a contract in Phoenix. I really, you know, kind of liked him when he was on the court. And this guy just has had the hardest time staying on the court and the weird thing is, like this time around, it's a shoulder injury. With big guys, many times, you worry so much about lower extremities. And this is another-- - Does he previously had lower extremity issues? - And now it's a, and a back, right? That was why the original trade was kind of, was next, but, with a physical and now it's a weird offseason shoulder injury which required shoulder surgery. Now I would be much more worried if he's a guy that shoots the ball about a shoulder injury and just coming back from that but still. It's just the habitual lack of availability. If you think of someone like Michele Bridges, it's just like always available. And then sometimes there's other players where it's like, yes, he's very talented, he's very big, he's very athletic but he's just the most that last year was the most he's ever played in the season. It was 60 games. And then what's not available when it matters both? Yeah and he gets a new deal and you know it's just like win available. He's great. It's kind of like quiet. It's like win available. He's great but we say that. We don't say that about everybody. We say that about players that are often unavailable. Right. And so this is a tough one for Phoenix right off the bat because he's going to have to come back from shoulder surgery before the season even starts. Jalen Brunson is like king of the city as you have chronicled in New York City. Over the weekend, he even gets shout outs from the tennis players that are there. Then he gets a shout out from Harry Styles. I saw over the weekend. Yeah, everybody is the two mad squared garden legends. Everybody is excited when Jalen Brunson to round like he is he is the favored guest. And so even when other famous people see Jalen Brunson like Jalen Brunson. That's that's the level of fame that he has gotten to. And there was an announcement which we typically won't talk about things like this but this is where the entertainment industry and the NBA are going to intersect. He is hosting the premiere of SNL. The first one. Like the debut for the season. But it is a very New York show and he is the king of the city at the moment. Also, Katzai. My twins love Katzai. Love Katzai. I've watched the whole making of Katzai reality TV show documentary where they take like 150 teen girls and like will them down into this like completely fabricated super group. It's awesome. But yeah, Brunson is just he can do no wrong. He's I was thinking about it. There's something very likable about his personality. Like intelligent but not in your face with it. Dry humor. Consistent. Like it sort of seems like Josh Hart is the sort of like the the big personality clown around the sort of straight man that is Jalen Brunson but he is very funny himself. He's got a unique look with his big head and he has very recognizable face. Like it's just kind of like he's got a lot of he checks a lot of like celebrity boxes. I'm gonna tell you something. My guess is that the writers for SNL. This is like a goldmine and when they're six weeks. Well and also because there are like their athletes in the past. You still see the Peyton Manning pelting people. Absolutely body did. Body did and like and you to this day how many years ago is that and you still see the clips of him in that in that you know fake commercial where he's pelting those kids in the head with the football or whatever like they have treasure trove of things they can do with Jalen Brunson. My prediction is that there will be a couple of skits in there that are absolutely hilarious that stand the test of time and I am so glad he's doing it. I will go absolutely out of my way to watch SNL because Brunson's on it. We've seen him you know be drive funny on his podcast. Yeah. I guess a bit of acting when he's done the WWE thing because he's a big wrestling fan. I think Brunson's gonna be good. I think he's gonna surprise people by being good on SNL. I really do. I think he's gonna be sneaky good on there because he's not like Peyton Manning was like in every commercial and like we had an awareness of him doing like acting type stuff. Brunson's gonna come out of nowhere with this. So another thing that that you hit on is the writers usually get like four days to write sketches. They do a show on Saturday and have like Sunday off. It's kind of like an NFL schedule, right? But this is like the week one of the NFL schedule. So they've got six weeks to prepare for this particular host and come up with good bits. And there's so much there. I just let's up athletes supposed to SNL. Tarkin tin. I didn't see that one. Fran Tarkin tin. Yeah. Yeah. 1977. Yeah. So the first NFL player to host the show. Bill Russell, John Madden, Wayne Gretz, he Chris Everett, Michael Jeffrey Jordan, Charles, four times. Time out. Time out. John Madden hosted SNL. Listen, I completely rely on AI for all this stuff. So yeah, it says January 30th, 1982. Michael Jordan did it once. Barkley four times. Deon Sanders, I don't remember that. Manning, LeBron James. Oh, he also hosted the season premiere. Michael Phelps, Tom Brady, Ronda Rousey. Don't remember that Travis Kelsey. Dwayne the Rock Johnson, John Cena, and Hulk Ogan also did. Huh. Huh. I mean, it really is a who's who though. OJ Simpson, who? Okay. I guess there's some other ones. Bob Euker. They got a different list here with it. But yeah, there we are. OJ Simpson, Jalen Bronson. Other quick note. Todd Gibson. Just skipped over the During topic. I haven't skipped over it yet. We're getting to that last. Todd Gibson retired. He's going to join the Bulls. I mean, I love. Everybody loves Todd Gibson. And and then the and then the absence of Tom Tibido having a job. Yeah, I mean, this is this is he will be with the Bulls until Tom Tibido's back in the league. And then he will be alongside them. And he made, in fact, when they when they announced it, he was going to join the Bulls staff. I was like, why don't he just join the Bulls? I mean, he's been in a lot of locker rooms. And then he'll come in and garbage. I mean, I look at Todd Gibson. He's not been effective basketball player for Christmas. And the last thing that we need to get to before we get to our six packet questions today, this Jalen During thing has gotten so messy that we're now to the find the reporter to report how perpetually unhappy he is, how broken this relationship is, how close he is with Scott Perry of the Sacramento kings and that man, there's going to need some real repairing to be done. If this is even going to be worked out because my favorite part, my favorite part is it's not about money anymore. It's about respect. This isn't about money. This is not about money. It's a hundred percent. The money has to respect. That's like you feel disrespected about the money, not the respect. It's about the money. So don't say it's not about the money. Don't ever do that. It's about money. And I think that the disrespect, this one of this comes in. So let's just say that the kings say, look, if they'll trade, like we'll flip them subowness and we'll do this and we'll do this and we'll max you. This is the problem. The fly in the ointment in all of this. In all of it, is the Sacramento might really do it and like the fact that they're stacking it right or they're like, oh yeah, we'll pair you with Darius A. Cup. That's the problem. 20 second time out. Sacramento might actually do it. It's something that we've been saying right now. Like so the way you feel hurt is and I will tell you, I have had this happen over my career. I left the place over it because another place offered me way more money and I went to my boss at the time and I said, look, I'm telling you, here's the offer I'm giving. I do not want. I want to be here. Just don't make me feel stupid, right? And then he basically gave me an offer that made me feel stupid because he was like, and basically you've got to know compete. So where are you going to go. And I got so mad. This is back in the day where radio stations acted like they were lording over you and they were like, you know, you're no compete. That's honestly like quick story. That's how I ended up with Bill and the ringer in the first place and then moved over. I was in radio for the first couple of decades or whatever over a decade of my career. And at that time, the radio station, I was under a no compete. So I couldn't go within whatever it was 200 miles or something like that. I can't even remember what it was. But the way that contract was written, it did not include the internet. And now, every contract now has to change, whatever. But I, so basically I left and then showed up at the ringer and during the show that I do locally now within a couple of weeks, because I was like, "Hey, it's not on the radio, it's on the internet." And so I went and moved to the internet, but that's all because I had felt so, I was so mad about it in the first place that I was being offered more to go elsewhere. And what I'm saying is, the terms were the same too. Five years, 190 is what being offered and you wanted 200 million, right? - Exactly, and so here's what I'm saying. If that first offer that I got would have never been available, then I'm not mad about it. But at that point, you do, and this was a, I was younger, I took that so personally, why does somebody else value me so much more than you? I wanna be here, but they value me so much more than you did. And it really did bother me. Like I got furious about that because I was like, just don't make me feel dumb. And I'm saying all this to say, this is all gonna make sense. That's the King's, he's sitting there, his agent sitting there going, well, there is another team is stupid as they may be that values me more than you do. Why don't you, the guy that I've sacrificed for, the guy that I just made, albeit NBA for, why won't you give me what another team is willing to give me? - Well, I think you can't, I think you can get close. I'm, they could, they could give me the full boat, right? And again, they can, right? The difference in the money is not good enough. And the fact that the whole idea of you playing out on a $9 million qualifier off for a piece, bona fide insane. But the money's not that much different. And I do think that he's probably got an agent that's gassed him up so much. And this has now just gotten to be so messy for a team that won 60 games. It was the number one C. - It's, all right, let's, the money we'll talk about in a second. But I want to talk about sort of the psychology of what he, Jalen Dern has gone through in this contract season, right? He was phenomenal in the regular season. - Great. - Just what, I mean, one of the breakout stories of the entire season was not just the piss and success, but specifically his leap year that he has taken. And when Kade was hurting, he was scoring like 30 points of game. It was crazy. And then in the playoffs, we all know what happened. But it was just an embarrassment. And just think about, and he knows that this, he's going into a summer of negotiation with his current team. So I feel like it's compounded by the embarrassment of the playoff performance that he put forth. And he feels like, I'm still the same guy that played those 82 regular season games. I'm still the guy that you drafted. I've been working my tail off. I had a couple of bad weeks there. I did. I had a couple of bad weeks. It was, you know, the first time in the playoffs, yeah, second time, whatever. I just think that that makes it so much worse. Sort of the embarrassment of quote unquote, costing yourself money by playing poorly in the playoffs. - That's right. And we talked about this last week where I was like, he just doesn't want to accept that it cost him money. On the other hand, reading these stories and then seeing all this King stuff and the Scott Perry stuff, whatever. That makes it sound like, and again, restricted free agency much like the exact situation that I was explaining that I was in once upon a time where restricted free agency feels the same. Because it is this feeling of, okay, here's our offer. - Mm-hmm. - And the Kings are just not that. - Like you can't, like to me, it was, we don't have to offer you that, Chris. You have a no compete. So what are you going to do? Quit, and I did, I did. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - I did, yes, and it's going to be awesome. - They said, what are you going to do? - I'm going to do it spectacularly. Quit, and here's one of the weird things about the Scott Perry relationships. 'Cause I've read about it. I'm like, how do they know each other? Because obviously he was with the Nick. So apparently they were going to draft him to the Nicks and that during that sort of evaluation recruitment process, Scott Perry and during builds relationships, Scott Perry left the Nicks to go to the Kings. But I, you see, you're still see Scott Perry every summer at Jalen Rose Leadership Academy golf outing. Do you know why? 'Cause Scott Perry is like a basketball god in Detroit. He's from Detroit, played high school in Detroit. He played at Wayne State, coached it like Michigan. Like, the idea that Scott Perry is pulling a Detroit asset away from the business to me just doesn't sort of add up. I mean, business is business. But he is like a Detroit basketball guy. - He is a Detroit basketball guy. And he, again, I really don't know at this point. I mean, my inclination is that the offer gets up the little bit. I mean, the offer gets up the little bit. He stops, you know, we know your pocket watch and what I meant, Thompson just got. But okay, after all this, you know, what we'll do is we'll boost our offer up, maybe a little bit, but I don't know. I mean, they don't want to go into, you know, they don't want to hamstring their franchise either. And if, if Jalen Durin, if, if they believed, Jalen Durin is a championship number two, this would not even be a, - No. - This would not even be an issue. But not even. - What's also, can you really be that upset? I mean, I hate to say this because this is like so reductive. But if you sign a $190 million contract, it's like, do you really feel that disrespected? Are you really gonna like MF everybody around the facility and like have a scow on your face? Are you? - I mean, and this is obviously all from agent, it is. - Yes, it does, it does feel like. This is so messy. - It is, it just feels like, it feels like there are people calling and texting Durin, being like, this isn't how it's supposed to go. - No, this is so messy. And again, it's whoever you're hearing from all the time. - Yeah. - Why does he feel disrespected by this offer? Because he's guided to feel disrespected by this offer. - Yeah, because he's been told that this offer is disrespected. - Right. Instead of the agent just saying, hey man, you done it. Like, you know what I mean, this isn't what we wanted, but my God, 190 million bucks, this is amazing. - Last year you earned yourself a huge contract that a year ago you were not sort of like trending towards. - Right. - And yes, you did cost yourself a little bit in the playoffs, but you earned yourself this huge deal last year. - Yes. - You're just focused on the little bit that it costs you, but you've earned over a hundred million dollars. - No, it feels like agent, malpractice. I don't know who his agent is, so I'm just saying this because we just witnessed this with the coming up. - I do have a Google machine in front of me. - We just witnessed this with the coming up thing. My guess is that he's gonna, you're gonna find, and I probably should know, he's not, you're gonna find it's not some big agent with a million clients. - I don't know this person, I don't even say their name, Chaffee Fields. - Chaffee Fields. - How many clients? - I don't know. - Who else does he represent within the league? - Stan, bye. - That's my guess. - Play professional football. Okay, shout out to him, huh? - My guess is that they aren't, I mean, this is not somebody that handles a ton. Also, if you handle a ton, you're worried about the way it impacts everything else, right? You work with Rich Paul on a regular basis. Rich Paul hasn't taken a consideration the way all the moving parts work with all the teams because somewhere along the way, if I throw a fit over this, and if I make this one messy, what happens with my, 'cause I probably got two clients on the team, or I might have a client that might get traded there, or what. - Do you know what's interesting? - What? - And this, I got this from athleteagent.com, so I don't know how accurate or updated it is. Only two basketball players. He's a form of football player, a reps lot of football people. He's got Jalen Dern and Tari Eason. (laughing) - I mean, this is at this from athleteagent.com, after-- - Tari Eason is the one that lost money. And then, remember, he signed his contract this off season and put, okay, I guess, his tweet was, okay, I guess. - You literally got offered less than he did a year ago. - Okay, I guess, or what, I'm paraphrasing, but it was something like that, okay. - Oh, wow. Okay, yeah, I do blame the agent then. (laughing) - He's like, I've never heard of this guy. I don't know anything about him. His inferno's like, nope, I'm blaming him now. - 100% his fault. - Never talked to him. - I've just decided. I never talked about him, don't know the about him, but after 10. seconds of googling from someone else, not even me. - Okay, now it all makes sense. That would all make sense, right? Okay, let's get to our six pack. All right, first question, were the clippers wrong to give Brad Beal the CP3 number? - Yes, absolutely a thousand percent. - You think this is massively disrespectful? - I just think like, if you're the clippers, right? Before Pablo, the CP3 exit was so weird, and I can't wait 'til we really get the tell all, 'cause he said something last week about how disrespectful it was. He said something, he's on a pod. He said something like, that was the most disrespectful thing in my career, something of that nature. It wasn't handled to use the word again, we just used for about 20 minutes with respect. It wasn't handled. It seemed like it seemed petty, and it seemed like there was malicious intent behind the way that he left the team, right? They were not on the same page with the joint story. - I want the real story. - As to why that was so good. - Just Miami and Atlanta, they're going back and forth to the middle of the night. - Go home. - Yeah. - Just get away. - I don't wanna see your face ever again. - 'Cause it's gone to be more, it is more than just, he's trying to tell Jeff and Gundy, you know, no, they shouldn't be doing this or it. - It seems so much more than just basketball disagreements. - Yeah, we have six hours a week of film, and we're like, oh, we know what the relationship between the coaching staff and the front-off is in the players. No, no, there's plane rises, practices, there's text chains, there's all kinds of things that we don't see, which I think led to this. But I don't think, probably feel like, also probably feel like, I don't know, not didn't light it up last year for the Clippers. I also just hate when like, guys that are synonymous with franchise end up with a terrible relationship with franchise. We just got, we just got the KG Wolves thing. - Oh yeah, go for the Celtics thing and like. - But it's just such a bummer. It is such a bummer when there is like a poor relationship with like Charles Oakley can't go to the garden, like what are we doing? - Like, I mean, if I, I give you said Clipper, it's him and Blake, that's it, that's who I think is. - Oh yeah, and they have no retired numbers. - No. - So I did a little bit of a retired numbers thing. So the Pelicans have one retired number, Pete Marifitch. Well, everyone has a number six retired now because of Lake Ray Porus. The Pelicans retired Pete Marifitch's number. He never played for the franchise, but just because he's like a New Orleans guy. - He's a New Orleans guy. - And he is, you know, and he's a legend. And the Hornets and Timberwolves have Georgia's hanged to honor players who died during their careers. Well, I think. - Do you say the Hornets? Oh, Bobby Phil's. - Bobby Phil's and Malik Celia. - It's just interesting. - They also retired, they also retired Del Curry's. Remember, that was a big thing this past year. - Yeah, they did that. Now we put the wrap is up in the raptors, raptors. - All righty. - Raptors, raptors, raptors. Remember they did the last year? - Oh, they did? - Yeah, just didn't. But it feels like CB3, I mean, there's obviously tension between the franchise and the player. I don't know, maybe retiring his number and bringing him out there and it's celebrating him and making a whole line of it. Maybe that would be a good thing, would be a little bit of a goodwill, and be something that Clippers fans want to go to the Into a Dome and see. Like, it just seems like it's handled poorly. Don't give Bradley Bill your number. Here's my first question. - Let me hear it. - Hold on. All right. A few pods ago, like four or five pods ago. I was, I tried to make a case for the Chicago Bulls. You told me I was an idiot and they're gonna be terrible. (laughing) And you weren't alone. There was also some people on the internet. (laughing) But, so who is your Bulls this year? A team that has you fooled. You think they will be better than everyone else does, but deep down, you know you're probably wrong. - Yeah, I mean, you're doing this on purpose. - What? - You want me to say the Grizzlies, but I'm not gonna say that. - No, I don't want you to say that. There'll be plenty of Grizzlies content from Bruno. No, no, I was not, that was not a leading question to get you to say the Grizzlies. I mean, this was a very hard question to that. 'Cause that's the, that's the, you know what I mean. - It's a very complicated question. It's not exactly well written, let's just say that. - Well, also you're asking me to find somebody that I accept is not supposed to be good or has a low wind total that I might have. - It has you fooled. - Or, yeah, that I think could be, like they have a low wind total because for a very good reason, but I actually look at it and be like, "Yeah, they probably have a better nap if you squint." - So, look, let's take the set Memphis aside. - Yeah. - Okay. This was hard. And I guess I landed on the wizards. - That makes sense. - I mean, where it's just like, bro, they got, like these guys have made a bunch of all NBA teams. And Alex Saur and AJ DeBonsta, and you're putting them with Trey Young and Anthony Davis. And I know that you're just like, the wizards have not won 50 games since Wes Uncelled. So there's been a lot of different iterations of like, even like the Beale Wall version or whatever. Like they're never good, never like really good. And so, there's always something that happens. And of course, you know, Anthony Davis could either ask for a trade or play 30 games. Like there's so many different things on the table that could go wrong and you're really like, "Hey, man, if he does, but hopes brings eternal in the off season." And I'm like, "Man, it's Trey Young. It's Anthony Davis. It's AJ DeBonsta and Alex Saur. I think I have good players." - Just. - So, why are there so many? Why are they going to suck? Like, I don't think I got good buyers. Like, and so, I guess it's them. And then when they do suck, I'll just be like, "Ah, I should have known." - Yeah, I think that's exactly the right. It's like, if you squint, you look at it, you're like, "Trey Young is in offense." It's like, he's like an offensive person of Rooney Go Bear. If you're going to go bear, your defense has a high floor. Like, Trey Young, love him or hate him. He's going to produce offensively for your team. Scoring the system. - There's a lot of nights I got possibly the two best players on the floor. - And it's not like we look at the flag last year where it's like, "Hey, rookie, highly touted, high draft, pick rookie, be everything for us." 'Cause DeBonsta's kind of just like, I don't know, on the weeks side. - And he's awesome. - He doesn't. - I just, I watch him, it's so early. You guys, great. - Yeah, and it's like, if everybody's not being asked to do everything in the way that flag was last year. - Yeah. So, I mean, yeah, he's what, that bass third option? And that's just, I mean, you open it up for him and give him driving lanes. That guy gets to the basket, brother. You ain't stopping him from getting to the basket. So he's attacking a closeout from a, you have an AD, Trey Young, pick and roll at the top that goes to the right and debances on the left wing and the defense gets sucked into a rolling AD and a penetrating Trey Young. And then you kick it out and he's just attacking a closeout. That's good to me. - So, yeah, they would be the one. They'd be the one. If I have a, I think they can be better than what is going to be predicted. And then we're looking up in the middle of the season. - Yeah. - And then you really can. - I can't fully watch the lead with that. - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, any day with his heart and pounding. - Yeah. - Everybody hates Trey Young on the team. - Yeah, I mean, yeah. - All right, a bunch of new coaches in the NBA, including at the aforementioned Dallas Mavericks. They got a new one that they grabbed from the college ranks in Dusty May. - Which of the new coaches also, we've year miss if we didn't mention new coach for the Phoenix Hunts had a profound impact last year. - Yeah. - New coach for the New York Knicks had a profound impact last year. In fact, they won a championship you may have heard. - What? - This year, which coach has the best chance at having a major impact? - So, this was easy for me. - Oh. - Very easy for me. - Okay. - This is somebody that I don't know personally and I haven't really seen them coach, but everyone loves Will Hardy. - Oh. - He's not a new coach. - I know. - You didn't put new in the question. - Yes, I did. - Read the rundown. Which coach has the best chance of having a major impact? - You know what I meant. - I just didn't say new in the question. - Make it what you know what I meant when you didn't say what you meant. - Time out. - What does it say in parentheses? >> This year is Jordan not. >> It's very easy to understand. >> So here's my case, this is, everyone tells me how great Will Hardy is, fine. But he's never really like tried to win with the jazz. So it almost is sort of like a new chapter. >> No. >> Like we've got a team that is going to try to win and we want you, Will Hardy to coach just to win. Because everyone's telling me how great Will Hardy is as a coach, but now we can see him be a great coach. >> I don't accept this. >> I'm, first of all, this is easy, I wrote, this is easy, Will Hardy in my notes. >> No, no. >> This is, this is well within the parameters of the question that I was asked. If you would like to add caveats and parameters, then you can add the word new in the question. >> You know what I'm saying. >> You know what I meant when I said this year to try to have the best chance of having a major impact. Will Hardy, they've not tried to win since he got there. How can you say the coach is going to have the massive impact when they got a bunch of new players? >> Because everyone tells me what a great coach this guy is, we haven't seen him try to win with a roster that's trying to win and a franchise that is motivated only to win games. So I think this is going to have a major impact and obviously having the players that give you the confidence as a franchise to try to win, make a run for the playoffs, helps too. >> I'm excited about this and I do a little research on him. Every talk about Grady is, it's basically like spurs and it's Celtics. Like, yeah, you know, it's like two of the best franchises to sort of grow and learn how to be- >> Here's what we know, everybody likes him, everybody likes him. >> I don't know this guy, but all you hear is how great he is and what a great coach he is. I haven't really seen it, so I think we'll have a major impact. He also went to Williams, which is the rival of my hometown college team. He's UMass, but Amherst College is also in town. But yeah, he went to a D3 state national championship. >> Good for him. >> Yeah. >> That's not the terrible I answer, but whatever. You know what I meant. >> Terrible. >> When I said this year, Jordan, what I meant. >> When I said this year's Jordan, I- >> In parentheses after the question mark, it says this year's Jordan not. >> Yes. >> Why don't you answer your question with a card already? He's kind of a first-year head coach if you think about it. >> That's fair. >> You never know. Look at it. You know what it was interesting to me. I was watching, you were talking about watching the Red Zone and football all day, Sunday. I was thinking about it, too, because you saw these teams that we have been used to their head coach for so long, and then they've got like a different voice that comes in. So obviously Mike, Tom, when you're used to seeing him on the Pittsburgh Steelers sideline, John Harball, you're used to seeing him on the Raven sideline on and on and on, right? >> Robert Salas coaching against the Jets, you're like, what's going on here? >> And then we had like, because we just had the Mike Brown thing happen. And man, I'll tell you this, did you have the Ravens game on at all? So obviously Jesse Mentor, Gungai, who's on the sideline, and it's just jarring the first time you see, because it's like, dude, I'm so used to seeing it. But they went up and like, so the Ravens going down, they score this touchdown, the offense is just like cracking, Zay Flowers and Henry and Lamar looks like MVP, Lamar, like the old thing. And then they're like, and new offensive coordinator, Declan Doyle, and they like show, and I mean, it's like a kid in the box, and I'm like, I was, the guy's 30, 30. >> Jesus. >> And they're like, he was the Ben Johnson- >> Former professional John Madden video game player, I know, they're like, they were like, he was with Ben Johnson in Chicago. Meanwhile on my other channel, Chicago's got like 60, 70 points. What is going on over there? They're giving up a bunch of points to the Panthers too. I'm like, what, I don't even know what to make of this game. >> Well, and then like in that Ravens thing, they were like Declan Doyle's offense, and then they were like Lamar through for 300 yards. Zay Flowers had 150 yards, and Derek Henry had 100 yards, but they're like, good debut for the Declan Doyle offense, and they show him, and I was like, this guy is sorry. >> It doesn't help that his name is Declan Doyle too. >> Unbelievable. Unbelievable, you got to look him up, it's crazy. Again, I just, I didn't have an awareness of it, but they were showing him in the box, and I'm like, I'll leave and these young guys will take it over, take it over. >> I'm excited, I'm excited for the next question I have for you right now. >> Let me hear it. >> Nikola Yochich went on the Yao Miele, I believe it's called, podcast in Serbia, yeah. And here is, he made some very interesting statements. Here's what he had to say, let's put it the same. >> [FOREIGN] >> I just wanted to play some Serbia. >> [LAUGH] >> I told him, he doesn't just grab any part, I don't know what he's saying. >> He said, he said, he said, he said, he said, he said, it's like, I was like, why are you talking about Aaron Gordon won? >> No, I told him, I'll grab any part, but here's what he did say, which made the rounds. Quote, I'm getting more and more bothered by popularity. I haven't seen this just translated, so you have to understand this is not a direct quote, because there are some strange wordings like popularity. I'm getting more and more bothered by popularity. This is going to sound corny, but I'm getting rooter to people who approach me. Honestly, it's tiring, some people around me know, I don't take pictures, it's my time. I'll sound rude again, but what can I do? If people can't understand me, I understand everything, but it's been 11 or 12 years and enough is enough. Now, I do want to say again, that is a translation. Because there's words like corny in there, and I understand everything, which we have to, understand there's a lot of loss in translation here, I imagine. But I couldn't wrap my head around how that made me feel about Nikola Yoke. So I wanted to ask my spiritual guide, Chris Bernoverning, how did that make you feel about Nikola Yoke? I think there are some times where people, so I think in many cases, people want all of the trappings of fame without what all comes along with it. They want all the benefits of fame without everything that comes along with it. And I would only say, I don't believe that to be true of him. Like I actually think he would rather not be famous. I think he does look as well. I think he certainly is not turning down the money. But there's some guys that want the celebrity of, right? They want to be somebody. I actually think he legitimately prefer would prefer obscurity. That if he could make the money playing basketball in a gym, no one would ever see him play in. I do think he loves basketball. And I do think that, but there, there has been nothing that has led me to believe that he wants all the benefits of fame, but not the responsibility that comes along with it, right? And I do think that I would not conduct myself that way, right? I'm big on, you know, treat everybody how you would want to be treated. But I do find him to be one of those guys that like, I think he would give up all of the benefits of fame outside of possibly the money. But even then, you know what I mean? Like I just don't want to be famous. Like I don't think that that is inauthentic. I get frustrated when there's people, they want to, they want everything that comes along with it. They want all the success that comes along with the celebrity, but they don't want any of the responsibility that comes along with it. And I just don't feel like he, I mean, every time he talks, and nobody thinks he like, I really think we'll never see him again. Oh, yeah, oh, yeah, he'll show up once in a while. He'll show up in a nuggets game or whatever, and they retire his thing, or they win another championship, and he'll get on a plane. But one thing I want to sort of like color this with that's important is you can't forget that he's 300 pounds and 7 feet tall, you know what I mean, like you just, because it's one thing if you are Jalen Brunson and basketball fans are like, oh my god, that's Jalen Brunson. But when you're nakedly yoked, you get an elevator with a grandma that's never seen an NBA game. She's still going to be like, wow, you're huge. Yeah, do you play basketball? You know what I mean, like he's, it's not just basketball fans. Like, you know, people come to me, they're like, oh, dude, I'm so sorry to bother you. You must get it all. time. I'm like, first of all, no one bothers me. I'm very anonymous and I love compliments. Can I buy you a beer? Because only cool people know who I am and talk to me. But every single person, whether they're basketball fans or not basketball fans, whether they're Americans or not Americans, whether they know who he is, are going to mouth a gap eyes wide, stare at him. And if he surrounded by his brothers, be like, what planet are you guys from? And I think that that colors it too. One time an ex-player that was working with that Jalen Rose told me he was like, oh, this one guy is kind of weird. And he's like, oh, all seven footers are kind of weird. Because think about it. There's seven feet tall. It's hard to be normal. Well, and also just a mat. I mean, I I know there's always going to be people out there like, oh, boo, I make a billion dollars, you know what I mean? But it would be awful to not be able to go anywhere ever without somebody asking you to take a picture with him. Or it would be equally awful to have a security guard like brushing people out of the way so you can go see the Odyssey. Like that sucks too. Because then you're like, you know what I mean? Then you feel like you're being disrespectful to people and like, I'm a better them. And he did frame it like that. He knows. He doesn't like that it's that way. But in his, in his defense, he just wishes he could you know, I just don't think the people I go, oh, boo, who about like, oh, I'm a famous celebrity. I'm a famous actor and people like me so much that they ask me for autographs and pictures, boo, who, right? For me, it's the grocery store. I just wish I could go to the grocery store every week. It's fine. You're not missing anything. But on the other hand, I also think that like he would walk away from all of it. Like I do. I do think that like mostly people I think they want all of the traveling. They want everything awesome about being a celebrity except the part about being nice to people. Well, you know, this is the last year of his deal. Now out of 0 to 100, what percentage? Let's say they go 50 and 32 losing the first round in five games and he doesn't have a deal. What percentage do you think that he just says, you know what? I've had a great run in the NBA. I'm going to go ride horses and serve. I mean, I think you have to put it at least like 15. But I actually think he would play basketball over the anchor. I think he's like, well, that's bad. Looked up this podcast and this Yao Mile guy, if I'm saying his name right, I apologize, never been to Serbia. It's not that's not his name. His name is podcast to play in the Yao Ming. He's a former player himself. Like he was a former guy. You know, he's big. I think he's 70 tall. Well, you remember that whole thing about him and LeBron and they were trying to put together a thing overseas and he just everything about him is unpredictable. I don't know. Oh, oh, because you know, the governor's meetings are happening now. Oh, they're one of the agenda items is NBA Europe, right? And they're like, oh, this is a master plan. How do we kick off NBA Europe? I don't know. Take one of the best players in domestic NBA and have him be a franchise cornerstone in NBA Europe. And next, you know, he's playing for like Eris or whatever. I doubt that you have to see. You have to see the 4K chess moves. What team do you already know you will like more than the consensus? This one, again, I wrote this is easy. And I think the consensus is going to love this team too, but I'm going to like it more. Will Hardy in the jazz. Shut up. I'm mad at you still. Did you know you to bring it back up? You didn't have to do that. It's unnecessary roughness. Because no one has ever won less games, but he's gotten more podcast airtime than Will Hardy. That's part of my point. That's part of my point with Will Hardy. That's my part of my point. Everyone tells me how great Will Hardy is, but I've never seen him win basketball games. But he's the best. He's the best. All right. God damn it. I'm mad at you now. The terrible was I just love the ball. I love Anthony Edwards. It's just like, I don't think I'm going to miss a typical of this whole season, dude. And now, like, Ming is there. It's just such a fascinating fun team. Like, oh, my God. It's, I love to assume. Like, God, they're so interesting. Like, I don't think Ming has solved any of their problems. Like, I don't know the power for position, but it makes them more interesting than they were. They're going to be fun to watch. Hell yeah. I don't know if Caminca is the one that's going to, if Chris Finch is going to be the one that, like, all of a sudden, you know, if Steve Kerr and Quinn Snyder are like, yeah, we're fine without him. You know, I don't know if Chris Finch who is Mr. defensive intensity is going to be the one that's so in love with Lamello and Caminca. We have, I don't know if you've met Lamello Ball and Anthony Edwards that there are going to be our primary ball handlers and scorers. And Caminca, your role is going to, you know, maybe be like a spark off the bench type of guy. Right. Last one. All right. There's been some concerning statements from people inside the AI world over the past week, which I'm sure everyone listening or watching this is familiar with it. So my last question for you, which is basketball related? Okay. How long do we have until AI murders us all? How is that basketball really? Because if we're all dead, there's no more NBA. Oh, wow. You really tied that together well. Yeah. We're welcome. So this is the thing that everybody's like hot and heavy about. Well, I'll say there's a researcher and throught the Jacob Cox and he said, quote, the people building AI earnestly believe that it could kill us all by the end of the decade. This is not a marketing stunt. Does end of the decade. Does that mean like four years from now or 10 years from now? Do you worth same age? Do you feel like you have started to care less about most things? That's not just Dave. I don't even know what I care about anymore. I'm just like whatever will be will be like. You know, I know like, you know, I queue up today and I'm like, all right, what's everybody mad about today? Oh, they're mad at archbanging and they're mad. Yeah. They're mad at Sidney Sweeney for being hot and they're mad at it now. Oh, oh, and by the way, I'm going to be so be cutting him. Yeah, yeah. It's so it's always I mean, I guess here's my problem. I can this is this is great. The mismatch, the mismatch are our philosophy. We're the war pretty much everything is I don't give a shit or what do you think about the Timberwolves? Yeah, we are the worst. I'm like, so I just when I see that and it's like a eyes I all right. So during the summer kill us all it's like an extinction event. I'm just like how? Okay, how? Okay, this is a good question. And again, we're going to be looked at like you did this is there's always going to be some dirt out there. It's going to be like you should care, you know, all right. I'm sorry. I don't. Yeah, I don't I guess, but I don't want everyone that's ever lit. It's alive to die. I don't want that. Do we have to stay that mattress head, your microphone as a caveat to the statement? Okay, so then there's the what can I do? Okay, I like that angle. Right. What's my role in stopping this? Okay. Okay, so now if I'm if I'm going to be stoic about it, just going to say whatever it's going to be is going to be and then my reaction to it is what matters. So you say Chris, there's a story out there that says, Hey, I was going to murder all of us. So at that point, I have a choice. And it's like, do I want to research this? And I guess I with I don't know how without using it. I mean, I mean, at that point, I'm like, twist my head and I'm like, am I going to ask? Hey, I'm they are. It is watching. So if you ask that they're going to flag you, if it's murdering me, like, hey, are you going to murder me or not? How are they going to murder me? Like, do I even like, much like you said, how? How? No, I think I think the answer is like bio weapons or something. I do very little research on this, but they're going to like kill us all with bio weapons, I guess. Okay. So what am I supposed to do? Like call my senator? I don't know. Yes, it's not my job. Something like, I don't know. Like, I'm going to hope that doesn't happen. I'm taking the under on a deck. I'm taking the under on a decade. Is that a fan duel? Can I put that? I haven't searched, but I'm going to open a fan deal after this and be like over a under humans on earth, 10.5 years, and I'm taking the over. I'm taking the over. I'm taking the over on that. I think we're still here in 11 years. I really do. I wanna see my daughters get married and stuff. - Oh, so? - You know what I mean? Go to some, go to some graduations. I got stuff to do, you know? I'm excited to be old. - I mean, this could be famous last words. Look, this could get me, look. The good thing is, if we all die, then I won't get old takes exposed. (laughing) - That is good. - That is good. - I spent my whole life with them telling me, I'm gonna get killed. (laughing) - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - There's something, and I haven't like, you know, like a avalanche hasn't hit me or like a, you know, whatever, you know, I guess the good boy. - We're also getting kids of the Cold War. - We're kids of the Cold War. - There's like nothing. - There's just so many things that are evident that they're not only gonna kill me. And like, I mean, - Red die number nine, that's gonna murder you. AI's gonna murder you. The AirPods I have in right now are gonna murder me. Everything's gonna murder me. - Seven hundred different eyes to the list. - Seven hundred different kinds of cancer. Like I'm worried about every kid. So like, okay, all right. - I didn't put SPF on at the beach. My wife is just like, well, you're dead. - Yeah, you're dead. - Yeah. - Yeah, I just, - I started about the NBA season though. I do want to see what Lamella looks like on the table. - I'm just gonna say, like, we're both at, we're both at, please wait until I see Lamella on the Timberwolves before you kill us all. - We're both at like, almost like past like midlife crisis, but we're also, we're at that age. - Oh, I'm firmly right in the middle of my midlife crisis, my guy. I mean, I love it. - And so like, all right. So if you were gonna, and again, this is irresponsible for me to do, but if you were, if I'm listing off like, and we do, we, we're at that age where you start to question your mortality and your kids are growing up and your parents are killed. - Oh yeah, your parents, yeah. - It's just a terrible time. It is a terrible time, right? It's a terrible time, but AI is so far down the list in like things I scared of. - It's a terrible time, yeah, yeah, yeah. - It's so far down the list, I don't have time for you. - I don't have time for you killing me. - I was, I was covered in shit in the desert last week. I'm not waiting about AI right now. - Right. I just had to go sit up a TV for my dad for the TV. - Oh, just a hundred times. - For example, you think the tech guy for your dad, you can barely get the cameras and mics working in your own house, but the amount of times you've mentioned that you have to be the tech guy for your father in our relationship, which is last, what, three years? It's at least 150. - It was the mouse. He called me and he said you, I need you to come over and I was like, what is going on? And he's like, my mouse doesn't work. And I know you know how to fix that. And I was like, do I want to spend the next five minutes explaining to him how to unplug the mouse and plug it back in? Or do I want to just go over there? And I went over there and I'm not kidding you when I tell you, I took the mouse was plugged in and I unplugged it and I plugged it back in and I said, your mouse is now working. And he said, what did you do? And I said, I unplugged it and I plugged it back in. And he was like, how? And I was like, you see that little port right there? - Yeah, that's how the mouse talks to the computer. - It's just, I mean, reconnected them. - I mean, dude, if I told my dad that AI was going to kill him, he'd be like, what is that? - Yeah, he's like, ow. - This port guy, ow. - This port guy, I mean. - Alan, I was just going to do what now? - I had to fix his phone and his, his photo album was filled with QR codes. (laughing) He takes a picture of himself. - Yes. - He said, I didn't find you. - And it does, there's no idea why it doesn't work. (laughing) - Don't tell him. - You gotta wrap it there. That's what I was thinking. - I just don't believe him. - He's got hundreds of pictures of QR codes and restaurants. - Yeah. - That's the main thing. - He takes a picture. He holds it up to his face, he takes a picture. - And that's what's taking his phone. Like, I can't see what the appetizers are, God damn it. - He asked me why it doesn't work. (laughing) - Not like that. - I was like, how about we just, like, don't do this QR code thing? - Yeah, I don't want to do it. It should be fine. - I just asked for a paper menu. - And he's like, well, I've got it saved. And I was like, yeah, but you need the phone to scan. You gotta have your, get your, get your wife's phones. You scan that phone and then you'll be fine. - Disaster. All right, that's gonna do it for today's mismatch. Thank you too. (laughing) - I can't count. - I can't count. Can I see you clicking a photo? I just can't see pages of QR codes. - Thanks to Jeff Steph and Jesse, as always, Jacobi, I'll talk to you next week.
