Spittin' Chiclets Episode 680: Featuring Devin Cooley

The episode blends promotional content with engaging, humorous storytelling centered on Halloween costumes, sports drama, and internet culture. The hosts spotlight a partnership with DraftKings for event trading, noting risks and eligibility, while promoting RYOBI’s outdoor power tools as a top choice for home and tailgating. A central subplot revolves around Dylan Larkin’s possible trade from Detroit, sparking debate on player agency, organizational decisions, and trade fairness. The episode also features a viral live-stream incident where a store worker confronts a youth for joking about his work, leading to a public outcry and a successful GoFundMe campaign for the worker. The hosts emphasize the importance of respect, cautioning against online rage and misinformation. A separate segment highlights the success of the Internet Invitational golf tournament, which garnered over 7 million views in just days, underscoring the growing influence of internet-driven content and community engagement. Throughout, the podcast maintains a lighthearted yet thoughtful tone, blending entertainment with commentary on social issues, fan behavior, and the evolving nature of digital culture.

Episode 680. Yes, Your Honor. Presented by Reese's. Yes, I kind of look. If you're watching on Netflix, I am my judge. I am myself the judge from England who looks exactly like me and he's 40 years older than me. Yeah. I believe. Unreal. Shout out Reese's, guys. Luckily, my costume is Reese's colors. Yeah. Incredible. So is mine. Coincidence right there. And so is your business. What are you? I'm myself. A pylon. Oh, a pylon. I thought you were me. And Keith, you're a gremlin? No, it's the gremlin suit, but I'm a monkey. It's my favorite animal, silverback gorilla, but I think this might be a chimp. Reese's, Reese's, boys. The Halloween episode is here. Wait, hold on. Can we go back to G? Is G dressed up as you as the judge? No, he looks like he's like a musketeer. Founding father, boys. It's America's 250th anniversary. Lovely. Love our country. So got to go with the guys who started it. What a country. What a country. Thank you guys for accepting me and having me here. I appreciate you guys. We didn't have a say. Yeah, we had no say in that. We wouldn't have accepted this. You bullied your way into this country, but I have come to grips with it. You are American and Canadian. Well, my mother was born in Chicago, so I'm kind of American. I know, I know. Really? I didn't know that. You're right. I have to move here. Some of my people in my own country don't even want me anymore after I congratulated the conservatives. I know. And the tweet that went with it, I saw some angry fellows underneath that, but we're here for Halloween. Yeah, we are. And I'll tell you some awesome costumes that I saw last night at the Wollaston Golf Club Halloween party for the kids. Billy Ryan. So we'll get into Billy Ryan and a viral video that now continues to go viral every time Jacob Fowler dominates. His son, Roman, was dressed up as Swaggy P. Unreal. Rollerblades on, Swaggy P hoodie, the mustache, excellent costume there. He didn't tell like a crazy story about somebody getting murked, did he? No, he left out the end of his interview when I sat down with him for a one-on-one at the Halloween party about a family being murdered in a house by a lunatic ex-boyfriend. That's good. But that was good. That was nice to not hear anything about. I texted Swaggy. I'm like, dude, pretty cool. Like there's not many people in the world that kids have dressed up as for Halloween. And he was like so honored. You know him. He's a humble guy, but he was like, it's incredible. But yeah, shout out to Roman. How many does he, he must have a lot of kids dressing as him though. I assume so. I assume so. Based on when I saw him at the rink the one time and kids were acting like it was like the Beatles. It was like women in the 1960s as the Beatles arrived. It's stateside. That's basically what I saw Swaggy P deal with. What would you say the number one costume would be this year? I said Ditka would probably get a lot of, a lot of love. Yeah. In Chicago. Yeah, for sure. Yeah. I don't know if outside of Chicago, that would be the case. I don't know. I'm horrible at thinking of it. Yeah. What is like maybe Elizabeth Holmes and her husband, those two psychopaths. You guys want to see what some of the NHL guys went as? I would love to. Okay. Here we go. I mean, Witt, Witt doesn't have a look on his face. That's okay. That's Devin Cooley. That's Taylor. That's our guy. That's our guy. Hell yeah. Devin Cooley. And he is, that is a Dr. Seuss. Yeah. The Lorax. Great movie. Yeah, it is. It is. Leon. Yeah. Leon. That's really good. Leon dominates everything he does. Unreal. Oh, God. Dad. Okay. Local guy. Because people are listening right now. So we have to describe what is happening and what we're seeing right now. So, so Leon and his wife went as Harry and Marv from, from what is it? Home Alone. Yes. Home Alone 2. Yep. They even have the burnt marks on their face with the iron and his wife has the burnt mark on her hand from opening the door. No, gee, that's Home Alone 1. That's Home Alone 1 right there. Yeah, the tarantula. Oh, for sure. 2 is in New York. And, and she even got, she went into detail with getting the M for McAllister in the hand from when he grabbed the, the hot door handle. That's veteran. Between that and the tarantula on his, on his like a peck there. That's very good details from Leon. That Babs is probably loving that. All the details, right? Yeah. He certainly doesn't like Jake Wallman's costume, whatever that was. Um, we'll get into that in a little bit. He wonders what Biz is wearing. Just a softer version. Adam's got that as the Joker. His wife or girlfriend, um, the Joker as the nurse in the scene when I think he blows up a hospital. Very good movie there. Um, right there. Oh, Eric Carlson is the fembot, I believe, from Austin Powers, who his wife is. Austin Powers. That's solid. I mean, I've done worse. Is Eric Carlson a girl? Every year? I've done worse. I don't know, but I feel like if you go girl, you have to shave your facial hair. I mean, like I said, I've done worse. It's even better with the facial hair. I'm not going to. Yeah. Yeah. I'm not going to criticize her. Look at the quads on him, Bizzy. Oh, he's done. He's got some nice VMOs there. These dudes. Oh, Celebrini and Will Smith. They know what I mean. They're just, you know, Mav and Goose. Just legendary right there. The ultimate tag team. No pun intended. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, David McJesus went. As the colonel. That's KFC right there. And his wife's a chicken. Very good. McDavid went with the solid mustache goatee combo that the colonel always had. That reeks of 200 point season. That costume. Yeah. Yeah. Reeks. Another two points the other night. Especially chicken. Great. Oh, yeah. Ovi went as a beer. I think we talked about this. I've noticed that the Russian. Well, they say you are what you drink. Yes. The Russian women I saw is the Doroff's wife, Ovi's wife, somebody else Russian's wife. They go all in on the costume. I mean, speaking of fembots, they look like fembots. They don't look like they're real humans. They're so beautiful. I mean, there's another one. Cracker right there. Got to be some of the all Tom Wilson went as the castaway Tom Hanks. His wife is Wilson, the volleyball. Very well. That's a double entendre because she, I believe, was a professional volleyball player or played at the collegiate level. So bravo to Tom Wilson and his girl. And I believe. I believe she's pregnant, right? She had the. Yes, she is. I hope so. I hope so. You never want to. You never want to. That could. That could be. You don't want him coming after you. I said his wife was pregnant. She's not. I told you the one when I was with posture when we were getting the gear and the equipment for Biz Does B.C. We're on downtown Vancouver. It's an all time bad one. All time bad one. I said, oh, is this your mother? It's like, no, it's my girlfriend. OK, I want to kill myself. We can move on. Who's this? JJ Paterka. JJ Paterka is King Julian from Madagascar, I guess. Just ridiculous. Hey, I didn't know that one. The red tail. I'll be on another team in no time with that. For anyone not watching on Netflix, we apologize. All time creepy costume right there. I'll tell you right now. Paterka's was the worst out of all those. It was just kind of bizarre. I think it was the best. Put the most effort into it. Best. Oh, yeah. I was on the Bruins. Yeah, he could dress up like a fucking wrench. He'd be the best man. He's the best. We're the best. Fucking geek. Shut up. What's this? Alexander Hamilton or no? Is that in Franklin? I'll take. That's not. Yeah. Alexander Hamilton is not a. I don't think that's a founding father. No. Is it? I should know this. Washington. Mount Washington. Remember? George. As in George. Adams. Mount Adams. Alexander Hamilton is a founding father. Definitely. Yeah, because the whole Hamilton show is kind of about that, right? And it's called Hamilton. Did you get it right? Sometimes I got it right. And sometimes there's. stuff stored in here that I don't know is still in there but it is and it pops out like that and that's something that i learned as i've mentioned eighth grade civics class noble and greeno school miss landry the hottest teacher of all time i i almost asked my wife to dress up as my eighth grade teacher that probably wouldn't have gone over well but that is where i learned alexander hamilton so shout out me and shout out miss landry and you're a judge you got a lot on your mind all the time settle down buddy settle down i'm about to send chris brown to prison that motherfucker i he the real judge let him off easy what happened he gave him i think he gave him a suspended sentence that was the judge the judge was from the case for chris brown oh the notorious not a great guy i don't think chris brown has been given an eight month suspended prison sentence after he pleaded pleaded pleaded guilty to a fray a phrase probably a british word for something bad um so yeah it's a break dancing term i think right bad moonwalk or something what was i just gonna ask you so wait so what what grade were you in where you had a crush on your teacher what grade was it eighth grade i had a uh a teacher in high school i fuck i forget her name blonde i think she did like she couldn't have been like miss landry you'd never forget her name i guarantee you that you would you would lose your crush you would take a fucking time machine and go back and abolish your crush for yours if you would have saw mine mine was in like nine chiclets before i picked a teacher over miss landry you ain't breaking me with anyone this is a lot a lot of years of thinking of miss landry have you seen her recently i have i haven't seen her since i left nobles after eighth grade which was 1997 so we're coming up on 30 years i haven't seen her yeah have you ever had a crush on a teacher teachers uh i feel like i had brutal ones but yeah i don't remember having like like good looking ones like some of them were cool maybe can't remember like you guys have in one well basically remembers when he doesn't remember her name i forget her name an affray is a criminal offense that involves a physical fight brawl or the use of threat of unlawful violence in a public place in a way that disturbs the peace and causes reasonable people to fear for their safety are we reasonable people dressed like this talking the way we do maybe not but some people out there don't deserve to see chris brown being a menace to society in a public place so i put the hammer down um all-time favorite halloween party memory for me is actually the story keith told when he dressed up as a seeker that was a halloween party correct yes because that's i mean it was a regular day they're like uh what is wrong with this defenseman we acquired from the phoenix coyotes he's dressed as a seeker and it's a tuesday in january i miss what you guys are saying i'm texting a buddy from high school asking what the what the teacher we had his name was he's married to her oh i mean my wife you were at our wedding thanks biz actually you know what our teacher in in monkton they had like a classroom that guys would go to she was very attractive i forget her name though lisa miss lisa miss lisa uh biz is there any sort of update from you on hunting down who tony tony escargot is wow yeah you said you had a big story so i get a text yesterday from jazz i gotta read this okay who we think could be him who then released a statement that it isn't so he released a statement he goes this is what i get well first of all tony escargot in a back-to-back because philly was playing back-to-back he woke up and chose violence he sent cannolis to the hotel uh where carberry was so he sent it to carberry and carberry before the game obviously you're poking the bear you're not gonna rattle carberry he probably obviously sent them to olby's room he probably dummied the cannolis and then they were ready to go five two victory we knew that was coming now each got me each god got one though oh he had his guy it is their fans were coming at me i go you're it's four to two washington that's all they care about there's the right there if you're watching on on netflix you can see tony doesn't make the rules he just implements them thank you for your service mr carberry cannoli en route so he sent it to the hotel to poke the bear but it wasn't just that what jazz sent me it was holy shit i got a story for for you uh from one of the flyers beat reporters when you come in today so i get in there i said jazz what's going on here so apparently last year during playoffs like nhl security had to get involved because tony cannoli sent cannolis to rick talk at his house and he sent them to like the the president of the whole team's house i don't know what the guy's name i could i can get more further and i don't even really want to say it to wreak further havoc on this guy but they there was cannolis laying at ed snyder's grave after tony escargot finished so there was one of the beat reporters that was just being like ridiculous online non-stop about a few of the narratives that were going on they had to call the guy in and question him to ask if he was and he said i swear i swear to god i'm not tony escargot so even the philadelphia flyers are on this case and it's still yet to be unsolved now keep in mind it is getting a little bit fucking creepy when you're sending shit to the coaches and like the team president's address and like writing notes about the meech god like that is offside love and peace at least it's that and it's not like play him more or you will meet your maker via tony escargot but still i'm with you i would fear for my life if i was the head coach based on what these fucking lunatics online flyers nation is saying and all of a sudden you're getting cannoli showing up at your door with fucking love notes i this is this has to end what if it's meech god's translator or meech god no he he's too busy scoring goals right now but he would last year he could have been eating the cannolis this year he's off him so he's probably sending him around so yeah i i'm the so the flyers currently um currently sitting uh tied for last place in the east with columbus uh actually it should be columbus has played 10 games flyers played 15 so the flyers are in last place um 29 goals scored but nine of them by the meech god so like what are you gonna do i actually think flyers fans would take a last place finish if meech god got the 40 i think it would be okay being relegated to the echl as long as meech god got his 40 goals yeah and they all got their face what'd you say yans just to prove us wrong correct it's not hard to prove us wrong it's really not it's crazy what'd you make um would you make up his three on three overtime the other night yeah it's amazing we're hopping into philly right away but like i think it was like a two minute shift in which he caught he got stripped for a two on oh against that vladar made this incredible save and then i think he was responsible for the next two on oh against where it was fantilly and kent johnson didn't matter he had because he had two in that game didn't he have two in that game so you liked his ot you liked his i liked his ot it was entertaining it was entertaining as fuck this he could do whatever he wants just not be harassing people in the organization sending them cannolis if that's what's going on if it's an inside job i don't think it is i think you and your fucking supreme court need to get to the bottom of this there's a couple out there that are probably true cannolis lovers saying like how are you considering cannolis being sent to you harassment so i i do see that side of it because like once again he found the best cannolis in boston to send to me but it is just a little odd once the president of uh hockey operations for the philadelphia flyers has cannolis at his front door or you you trust tony escargot like you know him what happens when meach god goes on a 15 game goalless drought you won't be hearing me talk about it because smart man i know what stands behind the wall of the flyers they're lunatic fans of the last place flyers all right but you know that's not the biggest news in hockey the biggest news in hockey broke this morning and that's dylan larkin is now he's out he's out of the lineup so he's funny enough elliot mentioned to us i believe like the the worry and or he might have said wherever i saw him say it was the worry of him getting injured right that he'd been injured before what if he gets injured again then all this is a complete disaster so maybe the the the the freed bomb you know got through to the red wings they said we can't play him anymore or a trade is imminent imminent and then you know we have schmaltzy our guy our guy over at mr curfew saying that he's going to new jersey and that's when i was and now once again pasha everything's coming up pasha also told me in the same conversation or chicklets cup weekend that he didn't want hellebuck he also said he didn't want larkin so when i reminded him of that immediately when i saw this report by schmaltzy he said well then i don't want mcdavid and i don't want quinn hughes either so he is just super he's driving me crazy i i think now like is this billy gee is this billy g getting this done i don't know is this going to happen while we're recording i don't know we have devin cooley coming up we have ra's world will the larkin news break today or is it just preventative just keep him out of lineup i don't want him injured i would personally like to get teased and blue balled a little bit with this personally you don't want him to play for a week if this drags out another week I'd be okay really yeah tie me up a little bit no yeah I mean yeah if you're into that come on here we just had the hella buck one we're still coming off of that we still have to talk about his performance in game one he already had his fucking helmet painted I mean yeah well I heard the I heard the merman Merles was explaining it because I wondered as well and then I'm watching game notes and apparently these equipment guys and the staffs are so dialed in now they're stickers so Reimer had one and hella buck had one where you can just go sticker on the mask to make it look devils or rangers for Reimer's colors and not have the awkward you know other teams colors possibly or just like a blank white one those are brutal oh I don't like the blank white no no no it's so bush league I know I know and for Larkin here I think people may be saying like why did he play at all now you're going to sit him out well I think the goal was that they could maybe rehab the relationship with the Red Wings by getting him in the lineup and playing and showing how good of a player he is that that would also help his trade value and maybe he wants to stay and he changes his mind now that Iserman's gone but at this point it's close enough where they say he's done so apparently Dylan Larkin has played his last game as the Detroit Red Wing kind of crazy it's like the divorce is official like they're getting separate places now but if you're him and I know Biz you said you want it to drag out a little bit like if you're him I'm sure he wants to play like oh yeah I just spent like a week here like just for like our pod sake just for content yeah okay well not content just like fuck man I just got over the hella buck stuff I mean like there's a little PTSD for us too we have to cover this stuff all the time I wouldn't mind a little bit of a breather no do you think these GM's because I mean I think the consent concession what's the word consensus consensus consensus that you know Winnipeg didn't get the best haul back do you think GM's now are a little worried when they saw that deal that they're like oh man we got to you know get this done now I don't like the Winnipeg's reasoning for doing it when they did and why they did it and maybe they felt like they actually got a good return like I don't know what that is but personally if I'm Detroit I'm saying I don't give a fuck if I don't get what I want I ain't fucking moving them and that's my stance but here's the thing I truly believe that Winnipeg thinks they can make playoffs in the central I think at the time they made it they'd have when they were on a four game slide and I think that maybe going into their situation with that outdoor game they're like we need to just mentally get over this hurdle not have our guys be focusing and answering questions on this we want to enjoy this weekend with alumni coming to town and we need to move on in order to try to get the ball rolling to salvage this season like they probably think with the core they got they're still in like a window where they can make playoffs do you guys agree on that yes if I'm Detroit I'm saying we're probably not making playoffs I don't give a fuck you're probably thinking from an organizational perspective this guy's put us through this he could sit and rot I want my return well Pierre Lebrun biz just tweeted something just now and as as we know Pierre Lebrun he's not Elliot but he knows things he's an insider you know he's that he's that B tier I guess you could say everyone's the B tier after Elliot being the A tier this was Larkin's camp saying enough's enough we've given you long enough to make a trade and you haven't made a trade Lebrun said this was forced by Larkin's camp they felt they've given plenty of time for a trade and enough is enough that is what Pasha just wrote in the notes here and Pasha's just he's he's refreshing Twitter over and over and over to see if a guy that he said he didn't even want is getting traded to the devils because I mean they make that statement because they're pissed he's not playing if he was still playing they wouldn't make that statement they'd just be you know their decision he's not playing though is what he's saying it's Detroit no no Pasha's saying that it was Larkin's decision Pasha's saying Pierre said that there were talks in the last 24 hours between Larkin's camp and the Red Wings both last night and again this morning and what was communicated from the agents to Detroit was that Larkin feels he's given the team ample time since his trade request in May to get a deal done Larkin has had enough so decision was made he won't play tonight nor for the foreseeable future hoping a trade materializes fluid situation still Red Wings circling back to teams with interest etc as talks escalate what a clusterfuck what a clusterfuck here's my feeling is that these agents are obviously talking to every team and stuff like that and they're trying to stay patient in a sense of the ask comes down and obviously we just saw that happen with Hellebuck right like it got to a point where probably the initial ask from what Winnipeg wanted to return wasn't going to be met because they knew eventually the team that had to trade him would cave to the pressure and now with all this fucking shit show happening there the Larkin and his team are going to feel like they've exhausted Detroit to the point where now they're going to trade him and not get the return that they initially wanted I just said what I said about how Detroit should handle it I have obviously been on Larkin's side for majority of this I understand why he wants out I truly can't I think he thinks that the organization internally is a bit of a shit show the promises that they made to him were not delivered I truly believe he took somewhat of a hometown discount especially in the situation that they were in order for them to go out and recruit and bring in other guys to help him out but I would say that the way that he's handled this from the summertime till now the three team fucking trade list to then expanding it to 10 to like now doing this this has been a shit show this has not been handled well if he ends up getting what he wants in the next week week and a half a all the power to him that the way they handled it I guess but if I'm Detroit I'm letting him sit there and rot until I until I get what I want there's no playoffs in sites I don't care it's not going to change anything if anything we're going to get a better draft pick out of it go home and go rot that's me and we'll pay you but sure you're not playing well even though he doesn't want to play but you just said that it was his decision to not play right so Pierre Lebrun now start the start the counter start the hellabuck money counter I get Larkin stance on it I just like it hasn't been handled appropriately would you guys agree with this I don't is he taking himself out like that where he won't get paid like hellabuck did I don't think I don't know I don't think he's but if you're like I'm not playing till you trade team reserves are likely the team can suspend him at any time now and now it could be like yeah I would say give him like four or five days with this stance and if he's still not like he's like no I'm not playing if this goes to the point where he comes back and plays it I hope it does that it's a full on comedy show he's playing you think that you you think the front Minnesota oh man you think the front runner to get him right now is buddy I'm going to be I'm going to be as honest as a judge could be or would be I have no fucking idea I think that's I think that Sonny ends up dishing over two first rounders and a prospect and it gets done and he goes to New Jersey there's a reason there's a reason that he didn't give up a first rounder in that trade over to Winnipeg and he's somehow weaseled his way out of it they got three of them the next two years could you imagine for they basically swap Larkin for the two first that they got from Simone Nemec and and and like a prospect or something else if there's a current roster player Pasha saying that the tires that are being kicked are potentially on Timu Meyer that you say it Timu Timo Timo Timo Meyer at Timu I believe yeah but he would have to wait and he would have to saga needs to end it needs to end it needs to end for all parties what does Pasha think I think Montreal should package Edmondson and oh my god look at his costume they should package Larkin and Edmondson because I don't think they want to get rid of Hague right but if you can get a young defenseman like Edmondson I agree with you package both of those guys to Montreal to get you know obviously Hage and somebody else or whatever the deal would be some picks but I think it'd be a shit ton yeah the money maybe like maybe like Gouley Matheson or something Matheson's a little older I think Matheson has protection because he signed a cheap deal I think they love Matheson I was just going to mention the protection aspect so Pasha once again a guy that possibly could be on your team that you said you didn't want do you now want him uh yeah I would love him I would love him this is just this is just 40 chess that I'm playing with you with and I'm learning it from Sonny Meda this is I I don't know if I could handle this boys I'm still riding the high of Hellebach if they fucking get Larkin here I just yeah I'm speechless I'm trying not to get my hopes up Schmaltzy has broken trades before related to the Devils too he had the first Bukestad trade so he's got some credibility he's obviously plugged in I'm just I'm trying to temper my expectations but holy fuck boys if they get Larkin plan they've already planned a parade plan multiple parades but aren't you a huge Timo Meier guy I love Timo Meier yeah but I think like I also think Larkin is an incredible player and I also think you get Larkin one you don't let Minnesota get him and it further tips the scale to getting Quinn yeah so I'm okay with getting rid of Meier or Larkin keep adding americans you have then you have hughes he's here larkin is your three or you put hughes on the wing and larkin center because he's better at face-offs is jack hughes playing wing something that he would want you think he played wing in the olympics and listen i think this is a good problem to have you have a lot of talent and no the some of those guys like to swing not have to stop like players like him they just like to keep it moving in the uh defensive zone i i doubt he would want to be a legitimate winger i mean lundell was a third line center was he not to win a stanley cup like you got to be three deep now you got 100 yeah you gotta be three deep center speaking of the panthers like matthew kachuk is on an absolute tear now you know every time i look he has three or four assists yeah he's mcdavid now it's great it's crazy yeah and and and also going back to tuesday night it's it's thursday afternoon right now um we were pumping the bruins tires and we don't talk enough about the hurricanes i think because they're excellent and how wrong i was for so long about them if you're just so accustomed to what they do and how they play the bruins went in there and it was one one right with about nine minutes left i think the bruins had nine shots at that point swayman was unreal portra hits the post could have gone up to one but it was and the hurricanes end up winning the it was surgical it was like hey the bruins hell of a start really good team like welcome to the big leagues here because carolina and and their roster of players who just continue to keep coming shift after shift after shift and then blake gets one walks across the goal line puts it under the triangle whoever's trying to defend him buries it that goal was so nasty that team i watched the game i i carolina i have there are the odds on favor to win the cup this year right correct right now i mean who are they missing their lineup right now the stall out hall stall yeah shit's big game and they just keep cruising along tons of cap space too they can make another move yeah let's not sleep on them with the lark i said tons of cap space too like they can go out and get another big player like 11 million yeah yeah and they i mean from what we heard they were in on getting hella bucks so you know they're itchy to get someone i wouldn't count them out of the larkin deal and he i feel like larkin plays the way that carolina like that just like can skate can move good on the four check but man watching that team they are unreal a well-oiled machine no hangover whatsoever what did merle say about like his buddy saying brindamore's message won't be able to get through because they already won from the other side like if you're a bruins fan and watching that game against the defending you know cup champions and how they've been playing this year you can't be mad at your team like that's a good game like that's a playoff type game if swayman wasn't in there though like g said it might have been 10-1 yeah yeah but but no it was one one and they had a chance to take the lead there uh portrait hit the post uh we'd be remiss to not mention that fight between genoa and deloria oh i mean they're still fighting oh they are yeah we're gonna take a live look in here hell of a celebration too i mean he skated to the middle of the rink he was going nuts genoa was a monster of a human that was a great fight that was coming off the heels of the other awesome fight we had which was what we talked about last episode uh the mcbain had a big one with uh frederick i thought there was another one after that there's been a lot of them uh well there was a few other ones that night there was a minnesota and utah we're going at a tro check i think yeah okay and you're off he could chuck him who we've buddy he was throwing lefts he was hitting i was like this kid's throwing both ways i'm that that might be the final like you cannot trade you're off he's fighting tro check he's throwing lefts very impressed by that and that's why they call him the champ you might feel a little prick in your mouth i says pardon i went down a rabbit hole watching the champ the other night so is he canadian is he oh yeah yeah yeah yeah i never knew about him no i only knew when biz biz brought him to like the locker room and fuck man i didn't know your wife liked the black cocks i said pardon i lose it i snap i overreact i over snap lose it oh i hit him with the weed whacker keith came home one summer is all he was doing was talking like this champ guy what what is this so then i started doing it and i still never i've still never heard him for those of you listening youtube the champ from canada and his rant i think it was like a radio show or something right biz and he used to call yeah there was a radio show and then my you know obviously imagine that's the type of shit i wish they would bring back is like those little funny things you're just driving your car listen to the radio and you know sometimes life gets a little stressful life i think they still have it though biz they call it spitting chiclets oh though the radio still go there's morning shows there's every city has a couple oh no yeah i know but buddy i don't think they're doing fucking classic bits or as funny as the champ come on here dude let's go here i'm not that stupid i know i'm fucking dressed like a pylon i know i can barely read only i can read his pots but fucking come on that's true speaking of putts yeah that putt and there's gonna be you know you know we we were a part we were lucky enough to get invited back to the internet invitational which the first episode dropped monday after we recorded seven million seven seven point seven milli so how have people how have that many people nobody works it's five hours and i just looked the second one just dropped a couple minutes ago that's four and a half hours so the editing team the tournament and the putt biz made now i want to ask you guys a couple questions after let's see the pot come on just when you think we're down and out come on baby biz how we doing babe kins we're uh we're down three yeah i'd say you're in one all right these guys are good pot oh i've seen this fucking go come on baby come on come on that's the question now a couple things great read by uh keithy boy kevin kisner um a star of the first episode people were a big fan of his commentary and he's a funny guy that guy came to our room every night drank a million beers was completely smothered went home and we did it the next day so great dude and biz called him kins he biz decided i like kins more than kiz so he's now kins to this pod he's kins um he was he was on full scholarship for that whole week all he did oh yeah come in drink drink our beer eat our food and piss in our back yard school teachers and grade school teachers and go home so uh as keith mentioned it wasn't your time that was against kyle from nelt and chetty freezer tarps i had you guys pegged as winning that match but man i watched it kyle that he made a bunch of bombs against you guys because funny enough the celebration of the pot was excellent but i believe you were three down with three to go so that just extended it to one more they were great yans yeah they were really good they didn't they did i think they made like three or four birdies in a row it which was impressive but it was like long putts it wasn't like they were hitting it right next to the pin and tapping it in they were making bomb putts that are and you know how it is when you're in a match and someone's just dropping nukes on you it's just like deflating off they were awesome we had a great time with them fun guys um but yeah chetty's got some unbelievable lingo just say his videos on the internet and shit like that he doesn't stop talking he doesn't stop talking or chirping freezer tarps constantly um my match i played with micah morris who last year i played against and i was trying to get in his head a little bit i he he truly despised me last year um i was with him we played trenton jersey jerry so it was kind of like a throw by their team this kid micah micah morris was hit he was hitting the ball 350 yards i don't think we used one we might have used one of my shots uh we won on the fifth hole i believe so it was just i was like this is so fun i'm just like sitting in the car like he'd hit a drive i wouldn't even hit i'm like that thing is sent sent so i don't know if any of i think one one shot was shown in our match it kind of goes to what santino was talking about that we can't have pros at that thing i don't obviously i don't personally care but seeing some of these guys hit golf balls and the way that they can like shape them and and make it go this way make it go that way i mean you i mean even fucking like we talked about cheddy and kyle i think they must have hit four putts outside of 20 25 feet so um these golfers that are there guys it is it's like watching like wit on steroids oh on peptides chinese steroids uh ultimate orange and then orange russian gas what's ultimate orange wasn't that the old thing that get me up the pick me up that guys used to take before games agent orange was it agent orange i thought it was ultimate orange yeah they were it was basically i think maybe speed yeah i don't know exactly look into it um yeah so check out the internet invitational seven million views on a five-hour video in three days any other quick funny things that came from it i think from what i've seen like clips on you Instagram and stuff, it seems like Santino is kind of getting a lot of. hate towards him but like if you know he's a comedian and obviously we know him a little bit he's completely fucking around yeah he's trying to be entertaining it's like there wasn't and he gives it to everyone everyone yeah some of the i would say the golf community seems to be a little bit sensitive very sensitive they take themselves a little seriously it's like jesus christ smoke a bone and chill out man grab a gummy grab some fucking asian orange baby you're watching a youtube golf tournament yeah i don't know why are you so upset it santino how many people has he performed in front of 20 000 like he's he's a comedian people get very upset i learned the hard way last year man oh yeah that's right tried going in there on my best behavior i didn't i didn't want any threats as i was getting from the new zealand country of new zealand and and luke kwan's fan base how about kwan setting up the tent on the first tee i didn't i don't even know he did that did you notice funny i didn't know i was told that i was told that yeah because you guys were later we teed off before you guys you guys were much later that was funny um no i don't i don't remember anything else uh funny from the video but where can you find that again boys the internet invitational youtube channel it's got its own youtube channel i believe so or it's for play and bob does that's a combined kind of okay i i think they might have an internet invitational yeah and it's there and check it out check it out um guys we have to give some flowers to a team that uh that's going pretty good and and we saw i guess somewhat of a record be set by a player on this team and that's the islanders guys yeah the islanders they look good now as of right now as of right now they're currently not in the playoffs okay but they're six four and two and let's see i think they play tonight but man pete the bore he's doing his thing and matthew schaefer being able to play every second of an overtime i i never thought we'd see that i don't know why i never thought we'd see that just figured somebody would change at one point but the kid iron lung 11 points in 12 games he's going to sign were we mentioning this on the show or off recording biz that he's just going to get seven years 20 million a year this summer and he still has another year on his entry level for next year but the islanders have they've looked pretty good they've looked pretty good and the bore kind of did his thing in terms of like and by the way when is when is barzell back uh no i don't think so no he's not yeah so what's going on there do you do you think uh with schaefer playing that five minutes do you think they had that conversation like before overtime they're like hey you're gonna you're gonna play the entire time or just kind of no i think because what happened was he was out there for so long and then they got a power play so they called time out knowing they want them out there for the power play played the power play and then just stayed out there and and he didn't even look that tired getting off there was a penalty uh they should see like during like in the third and fourth game they should see like during like in the third and third period or something if they're up by four just try to play him as long as you can in the third period see if you can get like a 15 minute shift i think he played 33 minutes yeah career high yeah so bo horvat though man that guy is a hell of a player he's just carrying them yeah and did you mention that holmstrom kid simon holmstrom yeah every time i'm watching four goals he impresses me every time i why he works hard like i'm not saying he's a world burner but every time i'm watching he's getting shit done and you know like i will say they're they're not the most um electric team to watch so it's not like i'm tuning into them all the time but when you do turn it on there's a few guys that stand out obviously schaefer playing five minutes is insane um we talk about it frequently on here he's probably going to get seven times 20 right like that's he's got them bent over kind of the and and by the way like the bad thing for them is would you guys agree from what you've seen so far the two wild card teams are going to be from the atlantic so then you have to finish top three in the metro well carolina is going to win that division i assume there's a good chance jersey finishes second if not washington it almost seems like any other team from the metro is not making it this year you think the rangers are going to fall off a cliff yeah they won't they won't beat those those two or two other teams outside of carolina right and uh you might have already heard about the rangers but the rangers are going to be the mentioned this and i'm i might be going brain dead varlamov is still with the islanders right and a shutout he had he had it had been a while dude two years i think it'd been or 18 months he had uh both knee replaced both both knees replaced and uh and for him to come back as a goalie in that position and to like come back and win man like that's awesome man that's got to be such a mental grind to come back from that hole that's like dark night batman in that hole coming out shit that's how you know when it's something impressive coming back from you see the way that his teammates react after the win and stuff it's just like every guy knows they see him in there grinding rehabbing 22 month rehab and also from from the older guys i know maybe over at the golf club like everyone says hip replacements are no problem apparently the knee replacement is a motherfucker this guy had both of his knees replaced and he's playing in the nhl as a goalie going up and down all game talk about the marvel of modern medicine like i i can't believe that let's give him a couple clicks boys i think he deserves it man 38 years old too man like that that's unreal should we send him some rhesus send him a canola i had somebody reach out to me with a picture of a three pound rhesus pie that was on sale at costco i'm like what an absolute monster pie like i'm gonna need that because like we have the pie plate yeah we didn't get probably that i with this but i guess there's a chicklets logo on it so show it out us it was hella bucks debut and pasha was ranting and raving i did my best and i i was able to ruin the shutout by saying wow this this shutout he's pitching right now is amazing and dallas got one but uh man he looked good it was easy for him to come in they only had 18 shots and the devil's that's pasha's thing is they don't really give up chances because they're so good and so dominant so amazing kind of validated jesse granger's uh uh article didn't it you mentioned game in one game and then they had to they had to go to colorado they got worked by colorado but yeah the luke hughes goal against dallas was disgusting absolutely filthy right there like a little bit a little quinn like a little quinn like walking the blue line snapping that thing so that was that was nice um golden knights kind of got back on track they beat ottawa at home and the ducks blew one to vancouver i think they were up five two and then lost six five so that was pretty cool for the canucks to see and something i want to mention that's off topic from any any current nhl games there have been tweets going around and this is the other day discussing uh the columbus blue jackets draft pick caden lindstrom okay he was picked right before demidov i can't believe how people are talking about him now his career has not gone as planned at michigan state he's had a ton of injuries but this kid is getting completely carved he hasn't even turned pro yet it's it is the internet and it what you know what do you expect what do you mean i didn't see any of this oh well it was just all over my algorithm people just carving this kid bust awful pick columbus needs to apologize to its fans could have had demidov it's like how do they know these columbus fans are on tilt man i i think because based on like you know it hasn't he hasn't done very well he hasn't done very well he hasn't done very well at michigan state you know stats wise but he's been hurt like the kid got hurt and i did see finally i saw one tweet of somebody being like this is bullshit this is right this fucking kid hasn't even turned pro and people call him a bust and just carving him it's like shut the fuck up let the kid turn pro let him get healthy see see what he turns into jesus yeah like these people are just a ruthless about to become an all-time boss like you can't you can't judge this until it happens you gotta especially a young kid like that let him figure out his career turn pro when the time comes if he does and then you can judge it i met him me i met him on the con oh at penn state yeah great kid nice kid nice kid now hey let's let's root for him i'm rooting for him let's go baby and and and like i'm sure for him like it's his draft year he lit it up in the whl right and then he he he's gotten injured things haven't gone well and so he's seeing that guys in front of him are playing and guys picked behind him are playing and do your best to just turn off all that bullshit caden get get get get your mind away from the internet and if you are seeing things or getting messages fuck them all fuck them all rooting for you here we're rooting for you here because nobody how is how is michigan state as a program nasty oh they are nasty that nightingale took over adam nightingale i believe and they they're a wagon i don't know i think they're they're definitely within the top five they might be second right now in the nation after after michigan pretty good at developing players too there's a lot of michigan players in michigan state guys who go on to play like nhl and pro always has been always has been yeah always has been because that that's a place that forever um what was their legendary coach's name ron ron something g burgundy was it red red was that red i think that's right barrington in michigan what was ron uh mun no no no no no no no no no no maybe there was a guy before him that was a legend as well oh larry is oh you're thinking that's tom is on mason it was ron mason Ron Mason was there for a long time. Michigan State always been an elite program. So you guys just remind us. me of something you said red baronson there's a thing going viral right now uh with a guy with the red baron shirt have you guys seen that it's crazy that's a crazy yeah and i'm happy for the guy this me too oh yes this guy was stocking shelves stocking shelves yep yeah i think it was like late night you know he's uh you could obviously see that he well at first he was so nice to the kid because the kid asked him these fucking little punks man if i ever caught my kid doing this i'd fucking beat the wheels off him yeah it was a live stream what did they do a kid was live streaming live stream and he had those stupid fucking glasses on so he goes and he says sir you know what the time is and the guy is stocking shelves he pulls out his phone he gives him the time and then the kid like does something with his phone we're basically like scanning it for money as if the guy had like his card on his phone and he said thanks for the 20 bucks and he's like he and then all of a sudden it clicked in he like knew this kid was fucking with him and the guy like you could see that he's just you could see that he's just you could see that he's just stressed and like wants obviously wants to go home and like be with his family so he starts being like like like oh you're fucking with me he's the guy yeah he's a fuck and he starts kind of like snapping a little bit and then the guy who was stalking the shelves is like at the register and i don't know if he's communicating with them about what he'd been stalking on the shelves like getting the qr codes blah blah blah and the kid who's being the punk walks by he goes yeah thanks again for the 20 bucks guy and then the guy is just basically like like let's go outside like fuck you you're like i'm fucking like i'm going like we're fighting yeah he just he snapped dude and he's like i'm i'm fucking too old for this shit i'm fucking stressed out i'm fucking working late hours i want to be my life is bad enough as it is it's like when someone says a line like that like that hurts that hits you deep like yeah he's like i got four kids at home i wish i was putting to sleep right now can't pay the mortgage yeah it's like fucking these kids man like if you're fucking around with old people and you get blasted by somebody don't be surprised well they raised a hundred fifty grand for him go fund me raised 150 grand so hell yeah send us that go fund me we should send him and his family to a game send him to a game a night night with the fam at the at a hockey game where where is he from where does he live greensboro oh that would be unbelievable he'd be dropping the puck he could play he'd be in the fucking lineup we need an enforcer play it pam league max give him ownership i i get the sense from and i don't watch any of it but once again the algorithm throws i think this live streaming it's the worst might be might be the end uh end end of it all it might end up being like when we look back and there's a couple people left sitting around like what happened it's like when all those motherfuckers started live streaming everything well like like wanton does it where he's like going around and like he's you know doing fun stuff and and not stirring it up you're talking about like the the cavicular and all this other fucking nonsense where they're just trying to stir up hate rage they try to rage bait for click is what they do like they'll go try to start a fight and then they have their security guard come in and stop the fight just so they get that 10 second clip of them like walking through the mall starting a fight it's ridiculous who's the one guy who like was dropping n-bombs and he ended up going to jail for a while like bob the builder or something his name was or something i think his name was like chud the chud the builder chud the builder you gotta know your audience too like go do that on a college campus with young kids who get that not some 55 year old guy yeah but that's the people they want to they want to torture they want to like end up getting some old guy who's grinding away who's actually like working and doing whatever he can to help his family i i just i gotta be honest with you guys like if at one point like one of my kids walks in the house and somebody's videoing him and it's live he was like hey dad nice shirt you fucking look like i'm probably going to jail my kid was the kid giving that guy a hard time it's over be getting a belt to ass bro yes take oh child service hey no live stream this wyatt take them fucking i'll rage beat you it just goes to show man you just gotta hope and you gotta do your best to raise good kids right like i'm just constantly like please be good kids please be good kids please please listen to what we're telling you on how to be successful in life which is just treating people the way you want to be treated and create fake rumors amen on the internet and and make up and send people cannolis when your night this jacob fowler story oh it's not going anywhere and it's very funny that it all comes back to keith and i keith's best friend a a legend to us billy ryan who scouts for the montreal canadian yes he does now i'm not gonna lie actually i'll say this after the let's play the video you would put follower yes 100 fowler shows up every time and wins it's it's it's like almost it's crazy no one's saying follow was good growing up he was the best growing up he's not better he's not better than following like if you if we're playing a game right now and i said all right i'm gonna you pick your team we're not in nhl today we're not facing today these guys will face them at 24 25 i know but what i was saying is he's already he already now he's he's like mastered his position the other guys haven't they have the tools they haven't figured out in their hands they haven't figured out in their hands they haven't figured out in their hands how to in games this kid does it he's been doing it since he's like 10 years old and he wants to do it fire in the belly today okay so so now now explain explain what's happening in the war room right now for the people listening because this is i love this this stuff gets me going inside war rooms draft rooms uh trade deadline days they are discussing basically two different goalies i i don't know who the other goalie was but i do do you want me to say it or no yeah i know for the for the kids say yeah yeah exactly and the kid ended up going second round early second round so so the funny part about all this is in the second in the first round that year um the year was sorry g what was the year of 2020 montreal picked fifth overall it was their reinbacher year 2023 2023 so no goal is selected in the first round five selected in the second round i believe uh fowler after that in the third round so five goalies were picked in front of him but in that war room it was vincent riendo who works for the canadians obviously he had the french accent and he was going to bat for another guy basically saying like this guy is better than fowler and billy ryan had watched fowler he'd been telling me about him forever he's like he didn't get drafted in any of the junior leagues he went then see him freshman year at bc i was like holy shit like you sometimes see players at at an age when you know you're not ready to become an nhl but you're like it's there now bill's saying to him basically like yeah those other guys might have better tools but i'm telling you this guy just wins all he's done is win he knows how to win that is characteristic in a goalie i think that that sometimes can't be described in a way like yeah there's guys with with a better glove than them there's guys with a better blocker but this kid all of it put together he is the best out of all of them and so far it looks to be this way now the best part about it is you get to see how how teams and staffs the good teams and good staffs you got to go back and forth like that that's not it's healthy debate you're not sitting in comfortable situations if you're going to build a great team there's going to be arguments there's going to be fuck yous there's going to be guys who probably don't speak for a little bit but in the end it's hopefully just like it's business and we're trying to figure this out and i have an opinion and your opinion is completely different but the other aspect of it is like i think for bill he's gonna have a job in hockey oh he better not pay for a fucking meal in that city the rest of his life are you kidding me hey that's what people tweet so the other part of the video too is gorton ends up going behind billy ryan and is massaging his shoulders at the end of it because both of these scouts are going to bat for their guys and he says something like you're going to bat for your guys and you're going to bat for your guys and you're going to wow you got fire in the belly this morning man imagine being the gm in this situation where you have two guys with conviction are saying this is the guy that's like the war room to a t and the butterflies in your stomach you have before you're making these selections that could alter the the future for your organization so this kid who the other guy was going to bat for ends up going getting drafted in the second round he's currently playing in the echl where and i don't know if at the time paul was even considering like moving up in the draft and trading other assets in order to potentially snag this kid knowing that other teams were going to get him so maybe when billy went to bat and they believed in billy's and what he was saying they said all right we're going to hang back with our third round pick knowing that this kid who's been doubted his whole life in fowler he's still going to be hanging around because nobody has him that high on the list and sure enough with the third round and the next round over they snag fowler now another component to these videos that are now circulating too are we always talk about these these uh meetings that the teams call with the players pre-draft these are the reasons why these teams want to talk to the players now this is the video shooters you can tell me if they're right lefty as a shooter perfect okay harvey chicago he's a passer he's a lefty lefty perron perron's a shooter and he's a ready he's got a really good shot uh fine fines are righty didn't see too much of it this year i'd He's probably more of a passer, yeah. So you know his stuff? I do. You can probably go up and down the whole USHL, and I could name a ready lefty. Now, when did you start studying it like that? I don't think it was ever a study as much as just not even a photo memory. You play against those guys, and if you want to stop those guys, you're going to figure out real quick if he's a ready or lefty if you want to stop the puck. You can't play your short side wrong if it's a ready on his one side or a lefty on the other side. So I think if you don't know what hands they are, if they're shoot or pass, you're not going to be very successful. On the other questions, more psychology-related questions, you want to see how the kid thinks and how quickly they make decisions and what might be a cause of stress. But I'm more interested in the guy who's frigging really in sight, right? Tell me about him. Tell me what makes him frigging tick. I've been doubted. I've been trying to prove people wrong my entire career. I sat in my living room in a shirt and tie with my whole family and watched five or six hours of the entire OHL draft, the entire USHL draft. To never see your name pop up on that screen, it's a pretty crappy feeling. To know that you played in the national championship, played in the national tournament twice, you won just about every youth championship you could win on North America, to never be talked to or to never see your name pop up, it's terrible. I don't read too much into the different awards, but to win the award of goalie of the year in this league that I was undrafted, nobody wanted me. There were 16 teams and not a single one of them wanted me. And to go out and prove that every single night that you messed with the wrong guy and Youngstown was just fortunate enough that I ended up in their corner, that feeling sticks with me every day. And the last thing I want is any organization to look back and wish they would have taken a chance on me because I'm not a player. Because all I've done is play football. And in that video, too, Billy Ryan's sitting right across from him in that. So I would assume that that interaction and that questioning happened before you see Billy in the war room saying, I fucking sat down with this kid. I've watched him for year over year over year be doubted and win everything. That's my guy who I'm going to bat for. And that's why Billy should never be paying for a meal in Montreal again. Now, granted, goaltending is so fickle and you don't know what guys are going to win. You don't know what guys are going to play good and bad each season. But there has to be something to be said for if you constantly are winning. Like if your team's winning over and over. And I'm sure those teams he was winning all these championships on were stacked. And maybe people are like, oh, they could have had anyone in net. But if you look at it from the other side, it's like, I don't know. This kid's on all these teams. They keep winning everything. There has to be something to do with him showing up big in the right moment. So it's a cool story. It's a guy who he looks. It's incredible now. And now Montreal fans are just loving life. So I loved it. Bill would call me after games and he was in. Was it Youngstown or young? Yeah. Yeah. He's playing in Youngstown. You know, those long rides that scouts have. They call you and he'd be like, this kid's got it, dude. This kid is an absolute stud. And I think he's a Florida kid. Probably grew up not around a ton of hockey. Well, no, he grew up with Brindley. That kid, Gavin Brindley, was nasty. Colorado Avalanche and Michigan. And I think his dad had coached them. So they had a good team and like the Florida Alliance. I want to write. Right. But if you're still if you're a Florida team, you go like you're probably traveling, going up to Canada, going up to Massachusetts, Chicago, wherever it is to play these tournaments. And if you're on a Massachusetts team playing a Florida team, you're like, we're going to work these guys. So the doubt in his mind has probably been like they said in that interview since he was 10 years old that he's been getting doubted on. And the kid is just putting the work. I met him this summer and couldn't be more impressed. With like not only, you know, like his stature and everything, but just like how dialed in he is and how how much he wants to be good, how much he wants that net. He's just like he's like, I just want to be the guy. I want to be the guy in that net in Montreal. Like, can you imagine like being the guy in Montreal? Like when you get it like that as a goaltender in that market, that's that's fucking big time. It's unbelievable. Another thing, too, are two more things. So one of the scouts in that room, too. And it goes back to. When we were thinking that Slav might have been a bust, he had a really difficult first year. The one who was talking in one of the videos there about the psychology element. He was the one who was speaking with conviction about Slavkoski saying, you know, this guy was a generational player coming up. Listen, is he Celebrini? Is he fucking McDavid? No, but he's not a bust. He's a first line NHL player that that scout went to bat for that you could have missed on. So it seems like the war room. In Montreal, they got a pretty good formula going on of guys who are very passionate and making very good decisions. Because if you look at the laundry list of teams, there's not a lot who are hitting on a lot of these picks. And there's some who who have had a lot who are in disarray right now. Blackhawks. I think this this is a great time to throw it over to a guy who has conviction and a guy who's really taken not only like the NHL by storm the past couple of weeks, but he was on Joe Rogan. Joe Rogan was was talking. About Devin Cooley. And before we send it to him, can we play one more video? And I know you guys don't like the comparison sometimes, but this is Carey Price. Yeah, this video. Is there a goalie in the league right now that reminds you of yourself? You're like, oh, looks like me. Yeah, Jacob Fowler. Yeah, it reminds you like I watch him play and he just reminds me a lot of me when I was his age. Have you talked to him like about are you like about that? Like, yeah, like I've talked. To their goalies a little bit. I've talked to Jacob a couple of times. I don't want to like. I'm not trying to like get in his head or anything. Yeah, I gave him my number and if he ever has any questions about anything, I'm always open to help out in any way I can. But you know, he looks like he's doing just fine to me. I mean fucking put them put the blue shoes in and fucking beat the meat to that Montreal fans and cuz Montreal unlike when they had Carey Price has the supporting cast around him. To build a championship team. But there's I went good teams with him though. Yeah. Yeah, nothing you think compared to what they have now. No, no, no, but there's I went back and I agree with the comparison. Like I went back and watched his shifts this morning. Obviously, it's the whole game. But the way he when the pucks behind the net and it comes out the way he pushes out and is just squared to everything is so impressive and it truly is a carbon copy of fucking a Hall of Fame goalie Carey Price. Yeah, it's like a test. La like to it's like smooth. Yeah, just there's no wasted motion. Not the one that not the cyber trucker. Not the flying one. Just a normal Tesla. Just very fluid accelerates. Nice. Yeah. So with that, let's throw it out of Devon Cooley. Take a minute here and talk about pink Whitney pinkies up. Go get a bottle of pink wicking. I hope to see maybe a couple pictures every year. I've had a couple pictures people dressed up as a. Pink Whitney bottle. So maybe I'll have to do that next year when a judge that looks like me doesn't come out on the internet a couple days prior to our recording and Halloween. So pinkies up to everyone go right now. Get a bottle. Get a shot. Get a Mickey pour yourself a nice cold glass of pink Whitney and mix it with whatever you want. So pinkies up. We appreciate everyone out there. Pinkies up is the rallying cry to the group. It means it's time for some pink Whitney shots. This episode of spit and chicklets is sponsored by blue chew guys. Uh, not much, you know, just I'm happy to be here. I appreciate it. And I think my first question for you is you come off that game big win. You give this interview incredible interview. No chance. You knew what would come of this, right? Like you had to be like the next morning. This thing's viral. Everyone Joe Rogan's talking about you. You must have been taken aback to like, holy shit. I guess that was a great interview. I gave dude. I it's like. I've said a lot of stupid things and a lot of them like kind of blow up and I don't really understand it because in my head in the moment, I'm like, oh, this is a totally normal thing. Yeah, this is a normal interview. You're like a 10 out of 10 stimulant level 10 out of 10 like adrenaline and you just start saying stuff and then most of the time I actually forget when I'm what I even said and then I have like all my social media blocked like on game days and I don't like try not to look at it. Maybe like 20 minutes a day Max and then I'll just wake up the next morning. I won't check anything until after practice. and they'll look after practice and it's like gone insane and so i just i don't really understand it but it's pretty funny and i'm glad it resonates with some people yeah most of the time you're just reading and uh and feeding your rabbit and then reading with your rabbit apparently at least from what you're saying he's the best dude he comes and he sits on my chest and we just you know like read and yeah it's uh it's great for the nervous system really why i don't know well actually i do know uh rabbits have like with any animals it releases oxytocin in the brain which is like a bonding chemical which actually makes you feel happy it reduces stress and so before i go to the game every single time i give pets to my rabbit and i'm like it's a good boy and i go down to my dog and i do the same thing i give pets to my dog i'm like that's a good boy and then it releases oxytocin it makes you happy and releases stress and so like after games or whatever i'll go upstairs or right before bed i actually go okay i'm gonna go read with the rabbit it's my nighttime routine and then i read with the rabbit releases a bunch of oxytocin i feel good i feel relaxed and then i sleep a lot better so there's science behind it have you always been a reader or is it something that you do more of now to kind of distract you from the social media even like consuming television because it can get pretty toxic and i couldn't imagine well i guess i could because i was all over twitter when i was playing but i couldn't could imagine trying to be a starting goaltender and consuming all that where it would put you in some maybe even some negative thoughts yes so i had this thing called the brick and it's like this amazing little like physical device that you scan on your phone and it blocks every single app from uh from you using it and the only way to unlock those apps is to scan that device again and it's a physical device so i take that physical device i scan it and then i go and put it like in the furthest room like in my basement so i'm not going to go down a bunch of flights of stairs to go and get it and that way i can't use my phone even if i want to unless i go all the way down the stairs so if i'm at the rink i can't use my phone right after the game can't use my phone and i give myself maybe like 30 minutes a day to catch up on everything see how things are going see what people are saying have some fun with it respond to friends and then it's like okay 20 minute timer boom lock the phone again and then the rest of the day i just spend reading playing the piano kind of hanging out and that's even with time to respond to friends via tech so you're really having like extremely low minimum use with your phone and communication with others uh that are well i keep i keep my like messaging apps unlocked so like just like my text messages because like damn you emergency stuff like that phone calls i can do but anything on social media like tiktok reddit twitter uh anything that's going to fry your nervous system a little bit i keep that very to a very limited amount what would you be doing if you weren't a hockey player because majority of us are rock heads and you know if we didn't play hockey we wouldn't be doing much but it seems like you have other aspirations yeah and i think it comes down to the question and this is a great uh conversation opener is how do you solve the problem of death you know it's like some people have religion some people it's they have kids they have their family some people want to contribute something that's lasting or they have a building in their name or whatever they have their jersey like hung up in the rafters i think for me it'd be really cool to contribute to future generations in some way and i'm not a hundred percent sure yet the science is that you have to be able to solve the problem of death and i think it's really important to be able to solve the problem of death and i'm not a hundred percent sure yet the science is especially the hard sciences are really hard because you could be working on something like the craziest like nonsense thing like bacteria or whatever and just randomly you could figure out okay because i've been working on this bacteria well how does a bacteria immune system work and then you figure out how to do gna uh dna editing and gene editing and it's like some crazy breakthrough that you would have no idea just kind of happened randomly and so i think that would be really hard for me to do as a hockey player because it takes like 10-15 years of like crazy experience you gotta get really lucky but i don't know maybe i could contribute something to the mental side do you mean from like a longevity perspective no i think just like anything you know it could be it could be anything like it could like maybe improve people's mental health or like figure out the mental side or maybe it's just me playing hockey maybe like some little goalies watch me play hockey and they're like wow that guy's pretty good i want to play like him and then while trying to play like me they actually figure out how to play goalie better and then future generation of goalies are better as a result so then it and then it just continues and continues so just to contribute to future generations i think it's like it would be a really cool goal how about a young goalie who then says oh i love devin cooley he reads i'm gonna start reading he reads enough books where then he's like i'm actually more into writing books than i am playing goalie because i love reading them i want to write one then he goes on to become an all-time best-selling author that basically has millions and millions of people enjoy his books see that would be so sick and that's the thing i think a lot of people don't really realize is like when you're in the spotlight and you have this platform like yeah i understand like why people don't want to do it it's it can be a distraction and you you bring a lot of attention on yourself and it can be kind of annoying to deal with especially when you're like dude i just want to play hockey but you also are in such a unique position to where you have so much power to influence future generations in a positive way and that can be through anything through like your habits through your mental through just playing the position the right way and doing the right things and being a good person through charity or whatever it's we're in such a unique position and i don't really want to waste it because at some point you know no one's really going to remember who i am after you know a few years down the line like no one's really going to remember me but i may be able to influence somebody while i'm in my prime you know and that might affect them for the rest of their lives and then in that in turn they could affect future generations through their own actions too you know that would be pretty cool i think what you just described you're pretty much doing now like i said on the broadcast last night like your vulnerability i guess as much as you knew or didn't know you were doing it consciously huh huh huh huh yeah like i think a lot of kids who even play goalie now wouldn't have realized that maybe they were they were playing in that regard and maybe they'll try playing unconsciously where they're going to tap into new success and new levels of play like it might be different from what you're doing right now but i think it's going to be for other positions but the goalie position of what you described i think will resonate with a lot of kids that are coming up and trying to learn the position yes a hundred percent and actually during my 20 30 minutes of social media time my favorite thing ever is to read messages from people that are like hey i'm a parent of a goalie and he started using your techniques and he absolutely loves it he's been killing it he's having so much more fun or goal messages from goalies themselves or other athletes just saying like hey i really resonated with this thank you for speaking on this like this has helped a ton uh even like people i know like that are in the nhl have reached out to me and just said hey like like thanks for speaking on this like you really hit the nail on the head like this is this is awesome and uh i i don't think people realize well i think people do realize is like how taxing mentally being an athlete is it is just it is such a hard thing and it doesn't have to be that way you know sometimes it feels like the end of the world when things are going poor with the right techniques and the right amount of effort and work like it can become an extremely enjoyable experience and i i know that firsthand because you know especially when i was younger i just felt like i was miserable every single year of my career and it was never my fault obviously it's always something else going on like but it is my fault like you are in 100 complete control of your reality of your impressions and uh there are solutions out there and that's my favorite thing i think about it and i think it's a great thing to do and i think it's a great thing to do about reading is that you can learn all that for yourself i get people asking me all the time well how did you learn this how do you do this like you're so wise blah blah it's like no like none of my ideas are unique they're from the hundreds of books that i would just love to read because you never know when you're going to find a little treasure that might change your life you know your interview in explaining like the subconscious play and how like when you're in that zone that is how you play well i think all athletes in any sport do understand that like it hit me where i think back to the good hockey i played it's like wow there was not much thought going on and now i play a ton of golf and my best rounds ever have been rounds where there isn't thought there isn't anything going on now the core of your shit face but that's a good point that the drinking because when you have a two drinks it shuts down that part of your brain the prefrontal cortex that deals with decision making and talking and it silences it so some people are like oh i'm better at beer pong after a few drinks and there's actually a science behind it you know that's why rum and coke on the bench well yeah but but considering you're not crushing pink whitney on the bench like how do how do you go from the times that you're not in that spot to getting there and that must be a trained way to like that has to be you have to be training to do that it's not like you can just say all right i'm going to go into this part and subconsciously not think about anything you have to probably have ways that you're able to at least get close to where you want to be what's the process so there is actually there's this book called flow and i think it's by the guy who actually originally coined the term uh flow state and there's actually a recipe behind it and i'd have to look at like my notes but i'm pretty sure it's like the activity that you're doing cannot be too challenging and it cannot be too easy so it's got to be right in the middle of your skill set you have to get immediate feedback so if you're doing it right if you're not doing it right and be able to make changes which is as a goal as you know if you're doing it right or not uh and then the third thing is you have have to put all your energy in what is happening around you. So you cannot be thinking about yourself at all. So when I'm going into a game, it doesn't matter what I did before. It doesn't matter how I'm feeling. Am I feeling sick? Am I tired? Am I feeling nervous or whatever? I literally will tell myself, I do not care. Anytime a thought pops in my head saying, oh, I feel a little tired, I feel a little sluggish. It's like, like, I don't care. I literally don't care. And I just keep saying that anytime a thought pops up and I put all my energy into what is happening around me, what the other team is doing, what their threats are, looking for those patterns that, that make me able to do my job. And then from there, it's like, you don't even have any time to think about yourself. You're just so immersed in what's happening around you that you don't really think. And there's also, there's a million other ways to like, like when you're talking about anxiety, one of my favorite things is the dare response. And that's another book dare. It's actually a really good book. But the first thing you do is you have an anxious thought, you feeling this anxiety, uh, you go through the dare response and the D is, uh, you diffuse it. So like you just say, I don't care. Then you allow it to be there. It's like, I don't care. You can be around. I can be anxious. It's not a big deal, whatever. There's nothing wrong with being anxious. And then you run towards it. Whatever is bringing you this anxiety. You say, man, what a privilege to have this feeling. I, that means I'm doing something. That means I'm going to like going through some growth. Something challenging, how exciting you run towards that feeling. And then, uh, and then you engage. So you engage with what's around you. And that can be, if you're not playing hockey or do anything that can be just breathing, you know, like, so sometimes I just like, I breathe in, I'm like, there are no thoughts and then I breathe out. There is no future. And you just say this mantra like over and over again, it puts you in this like rhythmic state calms you down. Uh, and then, yeah, you just engage with the Royals around you. You can look at, you know, your wall, you can look at art, you can look at, uh, anything really, and just really focus on it. Count things. You can pinch yourself. You can, uh, focus again on just playing hockey. And, uh, it's about really figuring out what works for you. But the idea is to expose yourself to as much information as possible and try a bunch of different methods and be like, Oh yeah, this, this really clicks for me. And for you as a goalie, are you trying different methods during the game? Like whether your mental space where you're at, because for a goalie, sometimes the play could be down the other end. You're not getting any shots, but I could imagine like the noises, the, the fans yelling at you, whatever the case is like being able to shut that out, but also paying attention. Cause as a player, right. You're, you're out there. You don't have even time to think. Then you get to the bench. You're worried about getting your breath, worried about getting your next shift. But I feel like for goalies, sometimes you're sitting there for a couple of minutes and could be in your own head. Yeah. So when are you saying like, kind of like 30 seconds goes by and you're like, holy fuck. I wasn't really like paying attention to anything. Yeah. Or if it's like, he has a different, you know, type of, you know, brain thought while the plays in his end as a compared to when it's down the other end. Yeah. When it's down on the other end, it's actually the exact same thing, except I will pretend that I'm the goalie on the other end and my team is trying to score on me. So I'm, I'm watching my team and looking at what their options are. If one guy's on his one timer side, what are the threats? What's the next pass going to be? And I'm just focused on that the entire time. And then when they're coming back, I'm like, okay, now the other team is shooting on me. And it's the same thing I'm doing when I'm backing up. Actually, when I'm on the bench, I'm watching the team who's trying to score and I'm doing that exact same thing. I'm looking for those patterns and you just continue getting this flow state. Even if you're not even engaging in the activity itself, you're still mentally engaging. So that's kind of like, I guess like continually over time to continue to learn how to read the play. Yeah. It's all, it's all pattern recognition. Goalie is, is, and that's why people say goalie is so mental. You have 64 goalies in league. Nobody plays the exact same way. And that's honestly probably why we have a consistency issue too with goalies. It's like, how do you, as a coach, how do you coach a goalie when nobody plays the same? There's no objective way to play goalie. Most of it's mental, you know, and most of it's mental because one, you have to manage the pressure and your focus and the anxiety and all that stuff. And then you also have to recognize the patterns and understand what the next game is going to be. And that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's going to be the next play is going to be your reads and everything are so important. And then you have to have the physical attributes, uh, to back that up a little bit too. Um, I just want to go back to when you, you mentioned like the anxiety portion and instead of like thinking of it, like it's like, you know, stress and this burden, you, you kind of referenced basically perspective and how you're able to look at it. Like you should be grateful for it. You said like when you were coming up, it was, it was hard for you because you put a lot of pressure on your stuff. What, like, when was it, or what was it that kind of set this up? This attitude that you have now off, like at what age did you start, you know, reading and looking into it and the basically when did the growth start? Yes. So the biggest thing that changed for me is when I was with the Wranglers, when I first came here, I was having like an all-star year in the AHL. And I'm like, man, like I finally figured it out. Like this game is so easy. I'm the man. Yeah, exactly. And I was like, man, I got to get in the NHL. Like, this is too easy. Like, I'd feel like I'm not being challenged enough. And then I got this concussion and I came back after like a week or two and physically I felt fine, but just my nerves and my emotions were so out of whack. I was just like super anxious, super depressed, like randomly. And I couldn't explain it. And I was doing things on the ice that like, I don't even like, couldn't even understand why I would ever do something like that. I couldn't focus on anything. I wasn't sleeping right. But it was my very first year as playing as a starter. And I'm like, I need to do this. I need to push through this. Um, and it was actually one of the worst things that I could have possibly done for my mind. And it completely derailed my season. I think that before my concussion, I was like first and everything like had like a nine, three, five, like AHL all-star after the concussion. I think I was legit finished last in the league. Like it was like crazy night and day difference. And it wasn't physical. And it wasn't physical physically. I felt great, but like mentally, I felt like I was a ghost. I felt like I was dying. And I literally told like my goalie partner, like kind of jokey. I was like, dude, I woke up one day. I was like, dude, I feel like I'm dying. And we just kind of laughed it off. And looking back now, I'm like, that is like not okay. But what's scary about when dealing with anything that's, that's mental is that becomes your new norm. So when you, when you have a mental disorder or disease or whatever you're dealing with, for me, it was a you feel like that's normal. And you're like, oh, this is just weird. You know, this is my new normal. But then looking back at it after you're healthy, you're like, holy crap, that was like so bad. So anyways, I basically hit a point where I hit a wall. I'm like, I can't play anymore. Something is seriously wrong. And I, I dropped out. We, I didn't play in playoffs. I didn't play at the end of the season. And the plan for me was I wanted to go to management back. Hey, like I know you, like, I would know I was supposed to be in the NHL next year, but I had like, you guys have a job to do. You're going to bring somebody in. That's totally fine. You know, I just, I really hope I can just compete. And I wanted to show like, Hey, don't count me out. Like I'm going to do everything I can to, to get back on track. And I started picking out books, like to read, I was like, I'm going to learn about what are concussions. I'm going to learn about the brain, how the brain works, neuroscience. I'm going to learn about performance psychology. And I started reading all this stuff and I was like, holy crap, this is amazing. I never, ever since then it's become like a complete addiction. I basically spent all my free time reading about whatever. And originally it became just like a performance thing. And now I read about the most random things ever. Like the summer I read about the power grid and how the power grid works and, uh, stuff about engineering and mathematics, but here's the other really cool thing. Sorry. I feel like I'm rambling. No, no, no. We love this. Yeah. Here's the other cool thing you never know when you're going to read something that could be in a field completely unrelated to yours that could actually end up improving your own game in hockey. So this past summer, I read a book called the art of doing science and engineering. And it's literally just this engineering professor who wrote a book and it's basically just like his classes and it's like his lectures, uh, to engineering students. And most of it's like old outdated tech. Cause I think it came out in like the eighties or nineties. Yeah. Old technology and just his plans for the future and mathematics and differential equations, stuff like that. But then in it, he has a section and it's, it's called the expert problem. And he describes how most famous people in their field, as soon as they become an expert, they eventually get replaced by younger people because they feel like they're an expert. They have nothing more to learn. They automatically assume that they're right. And, uh, they become very stubborn in their beliefs until eventually they end up being wrong and just getting replaced. And I'm like, Holy crap. That's exactly what might happen to me in hockey. As a goalie, as I get older, I'm going to be like, I'm the man I've had success in the league now for a couple of years. I know how to play the position. Like, don't tell me what to do, blah, blah. And then eventually I'll get replaced by somebody younger, faster, who is more in tune with the new modern style of goaltending. So that's a lesson I want to take with me is like, I never want to stop growing. I never want to stop improving. I always want to listen to the coaches. I want I want to figure out how the game is changing and how I can keep up. Because I want to be able to play for a really long time. And you learn that from a book about engineering, you know? So it's like, it's that treasure hunting. You never know when you're going to find something really cool. It goes into like athletes in every field who the best, like Sidney Crosby right now probably thinks I can improve on things. Like the minute you think that you've got something and you're like, I don't need to improve anymore is the beginning of the end. Yeah, that's pretty much what it said. Yeah, that's pretty cool. And you got kids thinking they know it all. It's like, buddy, you got, you got guys that have played 20 years in pro sports leagues who still are looking to improve daily. That's pretty cool. And that's part of the fun too, is for me, my biggest passion is just like radical self improvement. And that can come in any, in any way. And that started again when I was 26, 27, after my concussion. Before that, it was like, I was obsessed with playing hockey and learning, but it wasn't as big as like my identity as it is now. And now I just want to figure out how I can improve. And that, that drives me more than anything, more than the results, more than anything. Just like, just absolutely falling in love with the process. I know that's such a cliche, but it's, it is just so enjoyable. Like anytime I learn something new or honestly, anytime I get lit up in a game and I make a mistake, it's like, I wake up and I'm like, all right, sick. I have a plan. Text my goalie coach. I know what we need to work on the next few days. It's going to be great. We're going to hammer it out. And then I'm going to be better for the next game. All right. You said that. You thought about bringing that to management. Did you actually have that conversation with them and like, tell them about, like you had a plan in order to get back on track and like, what was their response to it? Once you, once you like communicated that at your end of the year meeting? Well, I actually had, uh, everything written out and I had my entire, how I play the position, uh, my plan, all the books I was going to read. And I showed it to my goalie coach and, uh, he's like, this is amazing. Uh, uh, he's like, this is great. I think this is, this is awesome. And I was like, I was going to show it to management in their minute. He's like, don't do that. And I'm like, oh, okay. Cools has been traded. Yeah. Sometimes having the rocks for sometimes having the rocks for brains guys around you helps. Yeah, exactly. And so I go to the management and all they want to know was like the medical side. And they're like, well, what, what doctors are like, I get it. You have a plan. Like, that's great. We're really happy for you. But like, we need, we need the. We need the doctors who like, what are the professionals doing? Cause for them, they're probably looking at me like this guy is, has lost his mind, you know? Uh, no, it was, uh, my, my scassy, my McKenzie scassy, glay coach in the, with the rainbirds is the goalie. You guys kind of have a pretty similar, uh, personalities actually. Yeah. Oh, he was, he's the man, dude. We were so close. I played with him in New York. He's the funniest little fucker we would drive. And so I had like a driver when I got traded, they're driving me to practice and he was living at the same hotel. He's in the back seat and he goes, shit. I go, what? He goes, the fucking Canucks lost last night. I go, I go, dude, I go. And then I look it up. I'm like, they played like Calgary, whatever. I'm like, that has nothing to do with our team. He goes, he goes, that's my team, bro. I go, no, no, no. The New York Rangers are your team. That's hilarious. We had so many amazing conversations and looking back now. I'm, he had, he was like, he was a hundred percent spot on because I would have gone to the management rambling. Like I always do. And they would have been like, this guy's off his rocker. He lost. He's like, he's lost. This guy's completely off the deep end. Yeah, exactly. They're like, okay, yeah, great. We're really having it. It's like, all right, who can we sign? Who can we see? We'll literally, they wanted to hear about the doctors and the professionals and, and rightfully so. And so we created a plan to that and, uh, and everything ended up working out. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but. My issue and, and looking back, I think a lot of players issues is that their identity is directly related to how they're playing hockey. And we've, I've, I've heard different athletes talk about this and it seems as you have been able to figure out a way where whether you play great or poorly, that is not who you are. Like you, you are not just a hockey player. And I don't know if I'm making sense, but would you agree with that? That you've become more successful as you've been able to separate who you are. And your performance on the ice and how it's not going to make or break you as a person. Yes. It did to me. It did to me. Like I felt when I wasn't playing good and I'm at the end of my career, I was like, I'm just like a loser. Like, and it was so detrimental to me. Identity is a really good, uh, point to bring up. It can be a very dangerous thing because depending on what you identify with, that's going to determine your actions. And that's all. It's also going to determine your self-worth, which is obviously that's everything. How you feel about yourself is, is one of the most important things. When you tie your identity to something that's out of your control, that's basically like tying your self-worth to something out of your control, which again is extremely dangerous. You don't want to do that. So for me, instead of tying my self-worth to the results, because again, that's not always going to be go my way. I tie myself. I tie my self-worth to the process. And again, cliche, the process, blah, blah, blah. But my work ethic, my, my, uh, drive to improve. And I like to go in to every game knowing that, okay, no matter what I gave everything I could to prepare for this game the right way. And I don't feel like I'm going to let down my teammates or my coaches or management or whatever, if the results don't go that way, because I gave everything I did and you have to have that. You have to have a really strong self-compassion for yourself and just let you know, like it's going to be okay. You tried your very best. You gave your best effort. It's not going to go your way all the times. People might be mad at you for it, but I know deep down in myself that I really, I really gave it, gave it my all and I'm, and I'm okay with that. And I've come to peace with that. And the other thing I like to do before games, and this is kind of funny, uh, I like to assume the very worst is going to happen. I'm going to be constantly, and then I embrace that. So like before every game, it's like, well, I might get pulled today. And your brain is going to lie to you. Anyways, your brain's going to be like, well, you might get pulled. You don't feel that good. It's going to pop those thoughts into your head anyways. So instead of fighting it back, no, I actually feel great. I I'm going to be great today. Blah, blah, blah. It's like, it's like embrace it. It's okay. So what, what's the worst that happens? I get pulled. Okay. That's no problem. Think about how many amazing things I'll get to work on because of the mistakes I made in the game. And that's going to be. My process. And then it's like, okay, now I can keep, keep working on it, keep improving. And, uh, and it's going to, it's going to be great. And it's going to be okay. Even, even after the game. So like my second game of the year, I got lit up against Colorado. I played horrible. I had like a minus four and a half goals, uh, expected, whatever. And, uh, I'm driving to the rink the next day, the next morning, and my fiance's in the car and I'm like, all right, let's go over the worst case scenario. Like, all right. I had a horrible game. Last night. Let's say my next start. I have a horrible game and let's keep going online. Let's say I have five or six horrible games in a row. What's the worst that happens? I lose my job. I get cut. I'm no longer a hockey player. And I'm like, you know what? That's okay. You know, I'm, I'm really more time with the bunny. I'm like, I'm like, I'm re I'm really proud of how far I've come. You know, we've really, we've really had a great run. We've had such amazing experiences. I really feel like I gave it my all. I really tried my absolute best to be the best and I prepared all summer. I did everything right and it just didn't work out and that's okay. You know, I don't deserve to beat myself over that. I don't deserve to hate myself because of that. And I think I, I'm at peace with, with this. And, uh, and then that made me feel way better. I went to the rink and I'm like, I'm going to work on a million things. I got so many things to work on. I'm excited to go to the rink. I had a smile on my face. I'm like, things are going to be okay. And if I, if I don't make it in hockey, you know, maybe I'm, it's meant to be that I'm going to be something else. Great. Who knows? And who knows where your path is going to lead? It could be something amazing. Sometimes the worst things that happen to you that feel like the worst things in the moment could end up being the best thing to ever happen to you. And my concussion is a great example. That felt like it completely derailed my career, ruined everything, 27 years old. And I blew it in the minors again, and it ended up being literally the best thing that could have ever happened to me and possibly saved my career. And improved my life in an innumerable number of ways. Was the concussion, what made you get more in tune with your brain and how it operates? Yes. Or were you like that before? No, that's exactly what it was. And it was the concussion happened. And I'm like, okay, I got to figure out what's going on in the brain because I don't understand anything. I was literally just going through life with these crazy blinders on thinking I knew it all thinking I had all the answers thinking I was a sick goalie. And I was just an idiot. I was just so. So dumb. And that's the other thing is like, people think that there's so much more less. There's so much less capable than they were. They are so much more capable than they realize, you know, and it's just, it just will take some work. So you get back. Oh, I'm not good at the mental side. It's like, whatever. It's like, no, like you can improve. You can get better at the mental side. You can, you can improve in anything. Like the human brain is, is incredible. And, and, uh, I was such an idiot. before that. And then the concussion was like, all right, you know this is basically your last chance you're 27 year old years old you either you either figure it out this summer like that's that's pretty much going to be it for you and that's kind of what i told myself and it was like then i i went down this path and i'm like wow i feel this is incredible i wish i did this earlier in my career yeah you kind of touched on it like it's almost like you wish you like had rocks for brains because like you're like you're in tune with all this do you think majority of people's brains work like this where a lot of the negative thoughts come in or do you have teammates where they're like no i don't even like i just fucking show up and play and it maybe comes a lot more naturally to them because i'm sure yeah i would identify a lot more like you with those negative thoughts coming in and you know as you get older and you mature you kind of learn how to control them and i obviously don't have all the answers and haven't read any books really uh so but but i would assume that it would be a lot easier to for people who kind of just naturally have it and those thoughts don't creep in for sure and there's there's no objective reality everybody's reality is different everybody's version of consciousness is completely different and so that's why it's like i just recommend figuring out what works for you yeah you know and reading about a million different uh philosophies or religions or ways of thinking or dealing with emotions or whatever uh you you never know when that might change your life and maybe it's nothing maybe maybe you have all the answers maybe like you don't need anything things are going great you feel great mentally all the time and it's like man all the power to you that's amazing uh but i was not like that i've always been a little bit slightly neurotic uh just just like your level yeah just like a thinker you know like i could just i could sit and actually my my pre-game is is kind of funny and i get made fun of i will just sit there and i just stare at the wall and i do nothing for hours and i just i just entertain myself with my mind because i don't want to waste any brain energy on anything else i just want to like just be quiet and just be with my thoughts and it's almost like a meditation but like not really and uh my fiance the other day came in and i'm just like laying in my bed like just staring at the ceiling with my eyes open she's like are you just staring at the ceiling i'm like get out like don't question my method you know you're wasting my brain energy i was like go away get out yeah exactly i was just gonna say uh you kind of mentioned how you were like reading about other stuff like maybe getting away from this give us like some of your like top three or top five fascinating things that you've learned about through reading books even like in regards to not like training your mental side of it like you mentioned engineering you mentioned you know other facets of life what are some things that like us hockey players and hockey players who are listening would be blown away by stuff you've learned about over the last two three years dude any picture books you recommend uh quantum physics it just it absolutely blows my mind what's quantum physics it is it is the the world of the very very small so like atomic subatomic particles and how our reality is basically built and i wish i could talk about it in more detail but it is it is so complex that like even like the experts are like yeah we don't really know what's going on but like the math works we don't really know like how reality works at a very fundamental level but like the math works and the science works so we're just we're just going with it and there's all these crazy theories about how it works and um how these uh these particles work but we actually don't really know where certain particles are and the momentum at any given time we deal with these things and we don't really know how they work and we don't really know how they work and they're called wave functions and we just basically deal with probabilities so all the stuff that we are made up of we don't actually a hundred percent know what's going on and we kind of just deal in probabilities so einstein was really famous as like quoting he like didn't agree with like quantum physics or whatever and he's like very famous as quoting like god does not play dice with the universe because he always assumed that there was a very simple answer to to anything and in reality it's like yeah we don't we don't really know what's going on but we don't really know what's going on are you talking about like like like uh like the periodic table of elements like actual like particles and yeah like like like uh electrons and like like atoms and anything smaller than an atom you know all that kind of stuff it's uh it's a pretty crazy kind of spooky world and all these like there's all these wild theories you know like the multiverse theory that stems out of it um it's very very trippy and we don't really have a lot of answers but we don't really have a lot of but it is fun to just read up on the theories and it's uh it definitely makes me sound a little bit crazy but anyone who's who's read up on quantum physics will know what i'm talking about at least a little bit at least i hope like so do you almost believe or have you ever spent time thinking of like alternate realities i don't really believe in it because i just don't know and neither does yeah like and there's no way to prove nobody nobody knows and so it's just kind of an interesting and interesting theory it's the same thing with like like really abstract or obscure like philosophy and stuff it's just kind of like they're kind of just like throwing out these like wild conjectures and you have to like okay well uh yeah i guess that makes sense that's very cool but you don't actually know if it's right or not but it is just kind of interesting to to open up your mind and kind of learn about the world around you a little bit what about like architecture and actual physical things i like mathematics a lot i like i've i've read history of like uh vectors and i have this book about like the history of calculus too which it could be cool and then once you like learn about mathematics because that kind of forms the basic basics of everything like mathematics and physics are like they kind of work together to form everything and once you get those bases down you can kind of look at everything from like uh first principles kind of structure and it's uh it makes the world a lot more interesting to look at i would say what was your childhood like because i know you said for a while like hockey was your only thing that you know made you who you were but like were you you seem like such a smart guy like you had to have been in all these ap classes growing up in a big reader and stuff or were you just focused on hockey i loved uh computers and i actually didn't think i was gonna be very good at hockey because i wasn't very good at hockey i actually haven't been very good at hockey for a long time i just kind of how i keep moving up in the world it's your mind brother it's it's pretty funny uh but yeah i wasn't very good in youth until i was like 18 17 18 it was like very average right anyone who played with me about yeah we didn't really think it was going to do very much uh and even when i when i was 16 i like had a tough start to my 16 triple a year playing youth hockey in northern california my dad brought me into his office he's like hey like maybe it's time to focus a little bit more on school and i'm like yeah yeah you're right you know you got college coming up soon and then my 18th year i had an insane year and then i ended up signing to go play juniors i ended up playing juniors but i always kept this backup plan with me because i'm like i'm never gonna be able to go pro so i just would always be trying to learn on the side and here's a really cool project that i have never talked to anybody about besides like yes yes good question yes when i my very first year pro and this is after i signed my nhl deal and i was already i was playing in the east coast league but i was like i'm not an nhl player like that's i'm just in the east coast league like having a great time and i was like this is great and so again i was still constantly thinking about okay what's my backup plan if i if i as soon as i'm done playing hockey i gotta come up with something else so i actually built this website and i called it stock on pilot and it was before ai so i'm not giving ai any credit before any of that existed but basically it was a it was a site that combined the feeds of reddit tiktok uh youtube twitter and the news it combined all four of those streams and it combined uh all the talk the financial talk across all those social medias so what you could do is that it was a live feed and you could search for any sort of stock ticker like gamestop or whatever and it would show you all the most popular posts across every single one of those websites in one place because during covid i was basically i got really into stock trading and i was jumping from one social media place to the other and i had to filter through a bunch of spam a bunch of people who had no followers at all and i'm like this is a bunch of nonsense i'm wasting so much time i was like what if i could just have it in one site and only the most popular users and uh i started building it like after the the summer i turned pro and ended up doing it for a while and i was like well i ended up storing all that data and then selling a ton of the different tools to analyze that data so you could do like data analysis sentiment analysis and figure out what people were talking about the most popular stock tickers that people were talking about and this all happened right around i don't know if you guys remember the whole gamestop yeah yes so i released my site like two weeks or like like a week before that whole thing blew up and so it was like literally the perfect timing for me because everyone originally no one was thinking about social media had any sort of power on on stocks at all they're like all that everyone was like that's a bunch of nonsense nobody cares about social media people they have no power and then the whole gamestop thing happened everyone's like oh my god social media has more power than all these hedge funds or whatever. And I had literally built a site that combined all social media posts into one and told everybody what the most popular stocks were at the time. And I posted it on Reddit a couple of times and it kind of went like kind of semi viral on Reddit. It kind of blew up. And yeah, my first month I made like a few thousand dollars and I told everyone like in the East Coast League, I was like, man, yeah, I was like, I just play hockey for fun now. You know, this is like my real job. This is going to make me a millionaire. I was like, this is going to make me a millionaire. Like I'm the man, you know. And then a few months later, all the social media sites actually changed the way that you could access their data to where it became just way too expensive. And I wasn't able to keep it running anymore. And I kind of shut down the whole thing. But it was a great run, you know, and it was pre AI. And actually one of my buddies used it to get a job at a hedge fund. And he's like, he's like, can you? Can I say I'm like the co-founder of this? And he goes, yeah. And he says he went into the interview and that's all they asked him about. They were stoked and he got the job. And so I was like, no fucking shit. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. Yeah, exactly. So now if I ever, if I ever get, if I ever lose my job in hockey, I could go to him back. Hey, like you owe me, man. What Ben Affleck movie was that, Keith? Good Will Hunting. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's right. Fuck. So do you still, do you still trade? No, I mean, I have, so I have like my, my main account, which is all just in index funds. Yeah. Everything. But then I have like my Roth, which is like, you can only put a certain amount every single year and there's no taxes on it. And so that's what I kind of, I mess around with. And, uh, I'm not very good. It's, it's very, uh, volatile. And I honestly don't really have that much time. And most of it's nonsense gambling anyways, but it is kind of fun. And it's a smaller amount of money with no tax hits. So it's like, why not? I talk with, with my buddies about it back home and we, we have fun with it. It's good to learn with like a small chunk. Like Shane Doan was doing a bunch when, when, uh, towards the end of, uh, of his career anyway. And I would ask him about it. He was, he kept it pretty simple. Like he would just stick with like the Amazons, the Teslas and stuff like that. Like he was doing pretty good for himself at the time. I don't know exactly. Pasha helped me with crypto a lot. Oh yeah. Do you ever get into the crypto like Pasha and, and, and, uh, go to zero? He invented it. Uh, I actually got super into NFTs before they blew up. And here's the thing with NFTs is that when nobody talked about it, everyone was just so focused on how stupid they were because they were stupid and the money was just out of control. But the opportunity came where for a small period of time before it got saturated, the risk to reward ratio was unlike any other asset on earth. I've never seen anything like it. I would sit on Discord, all day and some guy would release some project and you could get these things for free. And within a week or two, they'd be selling for 50 grand. I I've never seen, I've never seen anything like that. Like one time I made 28 grand in 30 minutes and that's not even an exaggeration. It was, and I, and I had spent like $500 and literally 30 minutes later, it was like 28 grand and then went all the way up to like 40 grand. And then it crashed all the way back down. You had the wrong guy. You just had the wrong guy. Pasha compared. To this guy, this guy's going to be a billionaire at some point. So here's, here's the, here's the, here's the danger with it is that before the market was saturated, the risk reward ratio was incredible. You took zero risk and you got an insane amount of reward. Once everyone found out about it and it started blowing up and going viral, the risk reward ratio wasn't there anymore. You had to take on a lot of risk to get a little bit of reward. And me being the degenerate gambler, I guess, uh, and getting that, uh, hits of dopamine when things are going really well. Yeah. I stuck with it and I started taking on more risks to get little bits of reward. I ended up losing like pretty much all of it. But for like, I think it was my second year pro I got really into it. I ended up making like a quarter million dollars and I was making like 70 grand at the time in the minors. And here I, here I go again, talk to my teammates, like, Oh yeah, I'm just playing hockey for fun. You know, this is, this is my real job. This is gonna make me a millionaire. And, uh, and yeah, I ended up losing it all. Like the next year I had to pay lunch. It sounds a lot like a witch trip to Montreal. Yeah, that was Pasha. Thanks. A lot. Okay. So having, having chatted here for a little bit, I may be way off, but I also feel like you might be interested in travel. Is there a place in the world that you want to go to that you have a passion to go see and visit and learn about, or is that not really on your radar? You're more kind of staying local as of right now. Yes. So that's, that's another way. My family loves to travel. My dad travels. He basically travels full time and travels all over the world for fun. My little brother is obsessed with traveling. He's a big fan of traveling. He's studied at like multiple monasteries. He's been all over the world. Solo traveling. Uh, I hate traveling. I despise it. I do not, I do not like leaving my house. I just like to like stay put. And I think it's maybe because what we do for work, like we're traveling every day. It's like, I'm so sick of it. And when I do travel, I like to go somewhere where I can just rot on a beach for like two weeks and just like read and not have any stress or anything. But what's funny is I've, because of my family, I've ended up going to Europe the last like four summers and I'm going to have to go back to Europe again the next summer. And I don't, I don't like it. There's, there's no AC. You have to walk like crazy. There's no public water fountains or public bathrooms. The culture is totally different. It drives me, it drives me nuts. I really, it's like, it's such a, it's, it's such a headache. There's so much going on. It's like, okay, we're going to go here. We're going to go here. You're going to go here. And then if you're having drinks, you're hungover most of the time. You're like, this is, this is brutal, dude. I feel exhausted. And so I just like, I just like staying at home and hanging out with my rabbit and just really just relaxing and unwinding. Yeah. There's some people who like going to see these incredible cities and you would rather read about quantum physics with Tito the rabbit on your belly. That's pretty simple. Exactly. But maybe when I retire, that might change because obviously we're traveling all the time for work. I'm kind of sick of it. But I don't know. I'm not sure. We'll see. No, it doesn't change. Speaking of travel, do you think we landed on the moon? Yes, I do think, I do think we landed on the moon. Do you have any conspiracies? No, I'm very anti-conspiracy. Oh, you and R.A. would be attached to the hip. I like to consider myself a rational optimist and it's just basically like assuming the best most of the time. And I think conspiracies are very fun. And they're very entertaining. But I think especially large scale ones, they would be way too difficult to keep a secret. You know, like there's always people who say, oh, like with pharmacies and the medical people, like you can't trust them because they want to keep you sick, you know, because they can keep like treating you and stuff. That's a conspiracy I hear all the time. But I just think of all the work and all the money and all the different scientists that are working towards curing. These diseases, it's like it would be impossible to keep that a secret if they ever came up with a breakthrough. There's literally thousands of people and billions of dollars being poured into this research. And we are curing things like our ability to cure cancer has been improving like crazy. We've eradicated certain diseases that, you know, destroy your past generations. And that's just like one conspiracy. But yeah, I try to think of like a scheme and a plan to think that it all ended up going according to plan. And it worked out perfectly. Like there's a lot of dominoes that have to fall the right way. Yes, exactly. Although like you said, it's fun to entertain them. Now, it's like conversation pieces. Yeah. And it is very fun. Like we talk about like AI conspiracies in our locker room all the time. I was just going to ask you about AI actually. Yes. Because my guess is you're pretty well informed and you read. But are you somebody that thinks like we're all dead within 10 years because of AI or AI will change our lives for the better? I think the only. You are an optimist, you said. Yes, yes. The only thing that we have to go off of for new technologies is the past. And humans are extremely bad at predicting the future, especially once you get more out of like past like two years. Once you hit like five to 10 years, there is no evidence anywhere that we have been able to predict the future with any sort of like consistency. Y2K, we all thought we were going to fucking. We were going to die when it hits 2,000. Exactly. With any new technological revolution, there's always people who are very panicked and very scared and rightfully so. And there is usually a very, what can be a very negative transitionary period. I mean, you even look at like the industrial revolution. It's like there is a very negative period taking people from farmlands and putting them in factories. A lot of people had to suffer for a few years before things really, really started to turn. And I think that could very well be the case with AI. I think in the very long term, I think it's going to be great for us. I do not think that it's going to end up destroying us. I do think that we may end up going through a very rough transition period where a lot of people lose their jobs. And it might be a long time before those jobs end up getting replaced with jobs that we can't even conceive of right now. And there might be. And that's where I think governments have to step in and like, try to keep these things, like keep the wheels moving. but also make sure like the the people are being taken care of because the last thing you want is a lot of people who are very angry about technology who are losing their jobs and now they have nothing to lose uh living on the streets and that's a very dangerous thing nobody wants that um so i think it's i think it's going to be very very fascinating and i think a lot of people are going to have to work together to make sure things are moving in the best way possible my hope is that eventually it'll lead to such an abundance and so much of what humans do can be done by ai where eventually we'll have something like a universal basic income to where you can do whatever you want to do and you're going to be taken care of either way if you want to strive for something more and you want to make a bunch of money or create something you can do that you can go for it but worst case you're going to be taken care of you're going to have your basic needs met your housing your health care um you're not going to be out in the streets you know and i would love to see no poverty like zero the problem that's i've heard that the problem would be people need a meaning right so it's like the worry would be that so many people would be fine with getting what they get and there'd be no what am i here for what is my purpose yes whereas some people are so some people are so driven where no matter what they're going to work towards something but i do hear what you're saying yes and i think that that's a that's a very very uh good point and honestly something that's actually hit me personally because i am was a huge uh lover of computer science i loved coding i would literally do it for fun in my free time i loved learning about computer science i studied it in school and now that field is basically been completely taken over by ai and the art of coding is is lost now you don't really need it except for like the very high levels but the the hobbyists they're done i'm not going to be coding you know athletes are safe thankfully but it's like my like i wanted to go into if i wasn't playing hockey i would have gone into computer science and who knows like i could be one of the people losing their jobs right now to the ai so it's it's very real to be concerned and it is very scary it can be a really tough transition period and finding that meaning and purpose uh may be pretty difficult because what is there going to be left to do humans need a purpose i mean i guess it depends on you on your views there are some philosophers who say to reject purpose and you don't actually need purpose you know uh so it's it really it really depends you know and uh but again i think if history repeats we will end up this new technology may end up creating jobs that we could have never even conceived of of existing um you know a few years from now it's the same thing that happened with the internet same thing that happened you know in the industrial revolution you know we're railroads you know we're railroads you know we're railroads all that kind of stuff and so i'm really hoping that's the case but to say this is going to happen this is not going to happen or we should all panic or blah blah uh a lot of us are just going to have to wait and see and hopefully the people in charge are going to be running these things in a ethical way which is a little bit scary since you play hockey i kind of wanted to ask just a couple quick hockey questions uh like who did you idolize as a goaltender growing up and like you because you said all these guys have these different styles you did you see maybe a goalie who played before you that you tried to emulate and of the guys you've played against in the nhl as far as like the skaters who have you been most fascinated with where you're like holy fuck like this guy's shot or the way that he moves or like who like who impresses you the most on the ice yes uh for the goalies there's two actually pecorine with the way that he played uh hall of famer and funnest story about that is when i was in college i had a i think this the year before i signed pro my junior year they called me in for like the christmas meetings like the the mid-year meetings and they're like hey like the way that you play like is not sustainable like you really like the only person that plays in the nhl like you was pecorine and he's all over the place you know like don't you can't be playing like that i'm thinking like i'm like dude that's my idol i want to play just like i didn't say thank you thank you and then literally i was like oh my god i'm going to play like this i'm going to play like this i'm the next summer i signed with nashville and then i'm like sitting in my hotel in nashville and it's covid and the person i'm skiing with all summer is pecorine it's just me and him out there doing skill skates and i'm like this is like a dream come true this is so cool uh and then the other one was uh flurry with just his personality and his passion for the game and the way that he had so much fun with it and that's why i'm like that's a guy who has the mental side figured out that's a guy who loves what he does and i'm like i want to be somebody who's going to be like that um and then uh for players i mean i think it's obvious like mcdavid is just he's just on another level like across the league and it is so much fun playing against them because it is such a challenge because he is probably the best player of all time like he probably would go down at the best player of all time and getting to play against that it's like as a competitor and as somebody who wants to improve that's like you couldn't ask for anything more and so it's like i could play a game against a whole team of mcdavid's because like i imagine how good i would get if i just practiced against mcdavid's all day long and played against them all day long it'd be so sick my stats would take a huge hit probably but like like think of the challenge he'd be so sick like terminator 2 smiling like it was 27 nothing he's like i know but did you see them you didn't have i went home and read 16 books the same amount of points he had that one um fuck oh what about favorite teammates in calgary like who are the guys that really make you chuckle that maybe have a different you and middleton must have a lot oh fuck and he's he walking out with his cock out in the locker room non-stop he just does he ever have clothes on that guy uh yeah he doesn't wear a shirt that a lot he's got these tattoos you know he's just he looks like a biker man he's uh but there's uh like strome is he cracks me up honestly the whole team is so funny like just sitting in our lounge like we all just kind of sit around in our lounge or like in the medical rooms and just the stuff like some of you guys say like i'm a really easy person to laugh to make laugh but like dude i crack up all the time even though i'm not even part of the conversation i just hear things and it's like dude it's so funny strome is really funny i've had some great conversations uh with with kevin ball he's a pretty smart dude uh johnny castagna like he's new guy college guy studied neuroscience and college we've had some really crazy conversations his brother is like uh he's like a math guy like he does like uh math theories or something like that so he's really smart family so we have a we have a lot of smart guys and maybe maybe a couple not so smart guys but you just have some guys that just like just really crack me up with like their mannerisms like like zane perak his mannerisms are super funny i love talking to him like and they have like a like a big like friend group like with like uh coronado and uh farabee and frost and like they're all like really close yeah it's harvard yeah yeah and just like like their interactions and the way that they talk it just cracks me up and i'm not even like part of like like what they do i just hear it like on the side i'm like my god it's just it kind of makes my day it's pretty funny i got a rollback last question here use code chiclets on rollback.com for a generous 20 off your first purchase to the end of the week r-h-o-b-a-c-k.com use c-h-i-c-l-e-t-s please everyone check out rollback it's the best um let me ask you this so i i i enjoy reading i don't do it that much but i like doing it it's like almost i don't know why i don't do it more can you give me a book now i'm not going to be reading about quantum physics i'm not going to be reading about certain math stuff but is there anything you could recommend do you ever read uh like life stories are you all more like statistic based and things like that when you're reading it's pretty much it depends on the time of year in the off season is when i read a bunch of like other industries so like the like the commodities or the grid or quantum physics or mathematics or whatever during the season it's a lot more uh sports performance and philosophy and then uh i actually started reading like more like classic literature like uh i'm probably not going to pronounce his name but feodor dostoevsky i think leo tolstoy like those guys like just like classics you know um because i think books that have been around for really long time there's there's kind of like a social proof in there like if this book has been able to last this long it there must be something there and so i try to not read like recent books like books that have come out within the last like year or two because there could be a lot of noise you don't know if it's actually going to be good and you've got to kind of wait you don't know if you want to waste your time because it's like it's a lot of hours putting in reading these books i like to look at like older things things that have been like proven to be around but yeah a lot of during the year it's a lot of philosophy and that really kind of gets you to to zoom out a little bit and be like man like what i'm doing is is not that important i am really not that important i'm such a small little like thing that's like so insignificant like i make a little mistake like it's really not going to be the end of the world you know and philosophy helps me uh deal with that a little bit zoom outside myself think about death a little bit more to elaborate on wit's question if you like for the young goalies or young professionals uh listening to this right now like top three books that helped you with your your mental sharpness and giving you that mental edge like if you could just name the books yeah uh flow is great i forget the author i think he's some european name it's kind of difficult to pronounce i have to look at it uh the inner game of tennis is also a really big one and honestly i'm just gonna say uh meditations by marcus aurelius that's like philosophy but it really makes you just feel like a lot better with things um like stoicism yeah it's it's very stoic uh i think i think he was well he was a roman emperor but i think he really enjoyed the stoic philosophy of things and uh yeah those three are like probably first performance and like thinking outside yourself that's probably the big one and the last one i had yans was just about so your your bunny's name is what tito and why is it named tito and can your bunny do like tricks and things maybe other bunnies can't yeah can read oh so the the rabbit came my fiance actually had tito uh before me for three years and he's seven now so i've only had him for five years or four years and uh but she got him in college in her freshman room dorm and being a freshman in college she called him tito after the uh vodka the tito's vodka yeah we don't talk about that around here call him pink witty and no he doesn't really do much and that i think that's why i like him because he's kind of like me he doesn't require a lot of energy he just kind of sits around he stares at the wall kind of like i do and uh he just comes up and he cuddles you and he wants to be pet and that's basically it he doesn't cause any trouble he doesn't cause any chaos and he's just a very chill guy and that's that's what i feel like i need when i get home from the ring just like a chill dude that hang out with speaking of your uh fiance uh two-part question when is the wedding and uh second part is when do you have time for your fiance because it just seems like you're doing hockey reading to tito looking at the wall like is she what are we doing yeah she gets mad at me all the time because it's like it's like i'll finish dinner i'm like all right i'm gonna go read with the rabbit she's like i haven't even seen you all day like what and then i have this this room in our house that she calls the layer and it's basically like my music studio slash like a reading room and i basically will just sit in there and i'll do math i'll work on music i'll read and i'll be in there all day basically and she'll be like i would like what are you doing i haven't even haven't even seen you but she's very much like introverted like me a little bit so she's very like low energy and she doesn't like doing a whole lot but every once in a while she she really gives it to me she's like we need to go we need to do something like we gotta get out of the house we need to leave the house yeah so i don't want to leave the house i'm sick of leaving the house you know but uh we're like oppenheimer oppenheimer off at school in europe like in his room like just sitting there like drawing up equations yeah yeah so it's uh it's a little bit of a battle between us i would say that's where the the most adversity comes from uh but the wedding is going to be summer of 2028 july 15th they're going to be in michigan so that's that's very exciting very very last question this is a late entry from g who just wrote in the chat here so rudy junda is a member at barstool he works there you so you you played at denver with him that's where you went to university uh rudy says that uh in 2017 you were trying to convince the whole team to buy bitcoin and that they were telling that you were a fucking idiot how many of how many of them bought bitcoin and did you invest i don't think i don't think any of them did uh i did i actually had uh when i was in high school was when we first heard about bitcoin me and my uh friends and at this point it was like 150 dollars a coin and we stayed up all night building this presentation that we were going to show my dad the next morning and it was you're going to build this supercomputer to mine and we just needed we just needed a simple ten thousand dollars but we were going to make it worth it yeah and so we're going to bring it to my dad the next morning we stayed up all night like learning about bitcoin how it worked like dude this is this is the future and then like we passed out we woke up we're like what the hell are we thinking like this is the dumbest thing we've ever thought of in our lives there's no way this is good and at this point it already gone from twelve hundred dollars down to two hundred dollars right we already missed it nobody cares about this anymore it's it's dead the coin is dead and we kind of forgot about it and we actually my friends would use it uh on the dark web to buy like fake ids and other uh sketchy things in high school and uh and i would use it to gamble online and kind of like mess around with some stuff and that was pretty fun and we never actually did much with it and then yeah once i got to college it literally went from like two hundred dollars and i think it went down up to like 17 grand or something like that but it goes through these crazy waves and that's it was like in the pennies and then it goes up to 1200 then 200 and then 17 000 and then back down to 5 000 and then up 30 000 and then 15 and then 60 and it's like it's just it's such a crazy wave and the other thing is like people are like oh man if i had just bought it earlier and held it it's like but you would have never held it because as soon as you were out like four times you're like well i gotta sell it and as soon as you saw it crash like 80 you're like i'm never buying that thing again you know but it just keeps surprising people and it keeps growing so it's it's pretty wild but yeah i i never i never held it i i was always in and out of uh certain currencies like ethereum and i actually in and out of bitcoin a decent amount another like hype is another big uh crypto that i made a decent amount like last summer but it's all just like fun money no one ever really yes exactly and like i think anyone who again tries to say with certainty oh it's the thing it's like no one really knows it's you can't predict these years in it's really impossible that it's too complex of a system this has been awesome cool this is great amazing are we all buddies now are we all buddies yeah you play golf fucking rights dude you play golf no yeah he's no time for golf if you took up golf your your wife would snap lose it overreact if you then took up golf she'd take half your ethereum like like with with my teammates like i love all my teammates they're the best dudes ever we have so much fun but it's like i sometimes it's like everyone just is talking about like fantasy football and golf and it's like i i it's like i can't really relate sometimes and i feel a little bit left out so i do want to get into that stuff a little bit so i can like bond a little bit more i think that would be good yeah get dumber yeah yeah you're you're a you're a great guy very impressive we're rooting for you and thanks for spending some time with us dude yeah thanks for having me it was a lot of fun guys the nhl moves fast every moment matters draft kings an official partner of the sandbaggers i honestly can't say we are um let's let's let's hear from a guy all right let's let's get the warthog well i'm learning during sandbaggers don't share a cart with milsy hello miss hoover welcome to rw's world here in the spitting chickens poop cast what's up boys it's ralph wiggum from the simpsons eating his paste with his stringy hair and his yellow face right there that is an unreal costume boys that is a bravo that is buddy that is i had no idea but when they just threw up the picture of ralph that is comedy all right unbelievable yeah that might be your best one yet thank you i i knew i knew that might be a little hints i had to give a few hints to the boys a little little dreadlock look and someone thought it was rick james and i sent it to the boys earlier maybe put on a thinny yarn when i picked up my yarn earlier this morning but what is the yellow on your face well he's a simpsons character so yeah the yellow the yellow face like you know there's no i'm not sure i'm not but what did you use oh i got i i got some uh halloween art a little a little halloween paint paint to my face not too too much with the yellow and then yeah like i said the the little more dreadlock look and then then i want it with the yarn but oh the paste you know the little little clue i would say a for all for both uh effort and execution all right wow 100 thank you amazing rastafari yeah i look like you i look like your banana behind you miss yeah he does same yellow let's start let's start this over and you just say you dressed up yeah yeah do another intro right now all right rastafari welcome to our race world man yeah we're gonna spark it up and have a good time man yeah walk warm walk warm i bet you're smoking tons of chief man i mean it's just a regular day for you brother it's fine i know we like to have fun with the halloween colostrum sale last year yeah we do just stand by me i felt like yesterday man i got one yeah uh it felt like oh this is yeah this is a good day for you man i feel like you're smoking tons of teeth man i feel like this is way better than stand by me remember that discussion biz oh that was like wait what yeah yeah i mean yeah little little little simpsons characters so but hey boys we gotta we gotta jump in with the brew crew uh we can't they kind of became our adopted team after the chicklets cup dude how many milwaukee brewers fans flooded tampa we talked about it he like how many we used to go down there to see pedro pitch in tampa that place was flooded with brewers like fans they were there all night i stayed up watching all the all the press conference stuff last night awesome turnout man uh like pat murphy the old note of dame coach come in the bullpen contrarist the hey real quick real quick i will say uh you guys told me to hit up sal freelick to uh come on the pod and he did during the pod like 20 minutes ago say he is free to come on in the next few days so we will be able to get him as an interview the next few days awesome i'm i'm a little bit negligent to this he is a player for the brewers yes he's from uh massachusetts and lexington and gave her the brewers hat remember like and then that's right you coached a chicklets cup yeah yeah a little bit yeah six one seven locals might have heard about him uh yeah his sister frankie she played softball down at duke i know that and uh and so i gave her the hat and this sort of started this little like extension of the chicklets cup it started with hockey business you coached the brewers to a world series uh no i wouldn't say that but it was the luck but i but he said he hit that huge bomb the tie i think was game four tied it late they ended up winning i sent them a dm dude i and i sent him a dm last night to congratulate him and well what i'm like i'm not gonna throw him under the bus what time i got a little l l uh lfgra this morning like late night this morning from from sal like they just won the world series i don't think they have curfew no i know but i'm just saying well you know yeah i like to look out for guys you were both awake yeah a little you might you might say that but either way it was pretty cool to get the message from and like i said and they call him pacino in the locker room biz he does look exactly like a very young al pacino like the dark day afternoon era which i mentioned before so it was it was good stuff um and i like it's kind of sad right because because neither team has ever won a world series so it's like one of them's got to lose but uh i i'm obsessed with the milwaukee brewer logo probably the best logo one of the best in all of sports at the fact that you have the you know you have to agree it's a baseball glove and it has the mb in it and my initials too that's why i always like the two bm prime mcgonigal that was there you go mr mcgonigal way back huh back in boston but yeah san diego seattle mb your name's mcgonigal brian i mean the same two letters bro like let's not get let's not no i i feel you i know you're saying there yeah i don't know all right all right san diego seattle colorado tampa bay biz the only uh four teams who have not won a world series yet and i'd like that was pretty cool the first baseman jake bowers uh he saved the ball and he went over to the manager it was like a little out like an after game he's like hey this is the last out coach and like you know the guy bat murphy 67 years old he's been coaching teams so you know god didn't know the dame back in 40 years ago whatever so it was good just awesome good good stuff i know you always see on on online you know how can you not be romantic about baseball and look i know we're a hockey pod but when you watch games like that man it is awesome it's great to see so awesome want to shout out the brewers uh also too we got a shout out the atlantic division in in the national hockey league camp is all right they get eight teams in the division separated by just seven teams and they're all in the national hockey league camp and they're all in the national points the bruins actually carolina is leading the other division i'm sorry bruins 19 points 13 points the lowest in the division with with the red wings every other division okay you take the collective amount of points in the atlantic division 124 points the metro has 112 central 109 pacific 105 just right now with the atlantic division i don't know they're just kind of running game with the nhl right now big time obviously only one team is going to make it out and i know you guys mentioned carolina they did choke out the bees the other night uh just an awesome effort that's what carolina does they're so wholly capable of just choking the team out but we do got to mention david pastanak uh 427 goals now tied for third all-time in boston franchise history this old franchise it's awesome to see that um chief johnny busick 545 number one full spazito number two at 459 pasta brady died at 427 right now so just want to give him a shout out how many fewer games is he at like like how many less games has he played than the guy who's got the most games he's had in his career he's got the most games he's had in his career he's got the most games he's had in his career he's got the leading bergie i you know what i didn't do the math on that one biz but i know it's like he's on a better pace than everybody else there because i time i did mention well last episode cooch because he had tied stemco's in 194 fewer games than you know that cooch set the record but cooch uh passed him the other day cooch now has 100 and i'm sorry 1138 games and 890 games with tampa the all-time leading point getter there uh so good stuff to him like to give him a shout out uh also we talked about miss craig she's the teacher of the team and she's the teacher of the team and she's the teacher of the down in um uh oh god oh raleigh north carolina uh and she she solicited donations and she got enough donations to take her class to uh uh a canes game i think they're going in either december or january she was able to get enough donations through people online so she could take her kids to the game she you know share this great game that we all uh love and have made a living off and hidden a mooch like me has made a living off too even though he can't skate so it's it's great to see her growing the game there uh awesome yeah it's good stuff uh shout out to maddie beneas he kicked off sunday night football for the seahawks uh from the program here obviously a local guy i don't know if you saw that sunday did you see that no i don't see that yeah you know how they do the i know it's kind of corny the seahawks of the 12 12 whatever but yeah he came out got the ball rolling for that uh for the sunday night game so good to see that stuff there uh what else oh i i mentioned last week that i acknowledged um lost in our community here my buddy um pat constant he he did reach out to me and he said hey asshole i don't know if you've seen it but i don't know if you've seen it but i wasn't a stick boy i was the equipment manager i says i'm sorry he goes i was referring to your dad his dad pat the grandfather was actually the penalty box guy for the 70s bruins back when fraud the original frosty worked and young pat was the uh equipment manager so i i wanted to issue that correction there pat sorry i called you a stick boy there's not there's no shame of being called a stick boy in the nhl so no no absolutely not for five years absolutely not uh what else yeah classic recommendation it's obviously uh halloween but you gotta love halloween on a weekend too i mean i'm not going out looking like this for sure definitely definitely not gonna get off the schneider with this for my hairdo if i did go out like this for a halloween weekend the omen uh 1976 uh richard donna awesome director uh basically this family adopts a a kid who may or may not be the uh the antichrist and guessing i'm naming this movie as the omen you could probably guess he is the antichrist it's a classic 70s ha ha ha halloween i'm sorry i'm sorry i'm sorry i'm sorry horror movie give that a look see uh but not much else boys i mean it's kind of a a big week of baseball all right we do have a little breaking news here uh pat berson just released a statement through pierre lebrun regarding dylan larkins here so i'll pull it up statement from pat berson regarding his client deciding not to play while waiting a trade dylan's had enough of the situation we believe he's been very professional and cooperative through the process i mean that's if you know if you if you if you go through the entire saga i mean him coming back to play was being professional um him saying he wanted to trade that that that is what it is these days uh i guess him not answering like any of the questions at the press conference would be considered i don't know if it'd be considered non-professional i mean i would say like maybe not abiding by the contract is maybe not professional like not picking on him for specifically, but like, I mean, Halibut was suspended for the same thing in Winnipeg. um because he don't want to play i mean that's your contract if it's just been it's been up and down it's just like and i'm not taking he basically fits yeah yeah you're right i mean i've had his back pretty hard on this pod i'm just like at this point i'm like oh fuck i don't know if this is exactly executed to a t i'll just put it that way no yeah and and if you if you look at so he's playing now but now he wants to be traded he signed a deal he wants to be traded they're not trading you so it's kind of you just can't you're not gonna get everything you want he's gonna get traded right so until he does for you just to say i'm not are you totally okay with them just hanging on to them until they get what they want a hundred percent yeah yeah that's like like like they have to he has no leverage like i mean he just decided what he wanted this change but like there's nothing to force the the red wings to make this move happen like i mean that there are no they're under no obligation to to appease him because he wants to be moved unless it's beneficial for them and you know he's he's a he's a great commodity he'll make a team better but uh but like they're not obligated to move him just because he wants to be moved but that that statement makes it sound more like it's on him and they could suspend him like they did hellebuck i think now they could saying he's had enough it's kind of like yeah well he's i mean he it was all it was all summer it's been how many games 12 games throughout the nhl season i get it from both sides and he's he's added teams to his no trade list as well right yeah yeah he's playing the best teams and top 10 best teams in the league yeah oh man what a what a what a sucks what a brutal thing for red wings fans yeah he's gonna forfeit 42 grand a day yeah exactly if he's not gonna play anymore then then they have to suspend them i mean you know he's basically pushed pushing them into suspending them at this point i would imagine i guess good for him for not like faking a hamstring injury and being like i know i know you know that should have been sick credit for not faking an injury that should have been the move all right you wouldn't uh i would have oh i would have done this for city job three months ago i wouldn't wait this long oh r.a would have been limping around years ago yeah i wouldn't have waited this long and l and going back to what you guys are saying about these absolute fucking loser influencer people who like go out and try to provoke people and to punch them in the face i biggest losers in the world right now especially when they go into like black neighborhoods and like you know say those ugly words and try to goad people into like assault them and oh it's just a word but you can't handle a word it's like bro you know actions have repercussions and if that's the fucking repercussions you want to get but just wherever they go whatever they do it's just assholes and to go to a guy working his ass off in a fucking in a cooler in a supermarket they happen to pay his mortgage and and you're gonna go with them bust his balls and and on his face man yeah i hope that kid get get comic heads up with those assholes man because it's like that's just like whatever we all make our living in funny goofy ways but to make your living in that way to just fucking treat people like shit fuck those people and hopefully they fucking can never make a living again you know why he had enough guys that was the guy at the fucking supermarket where r.a showed up at fucking 859 that's right about my five had enough and that was when r.a came in and he he was guns a blazing at them and we were all like r.a i think you missed this one my pace ended up on my mouth and then he just stole my grind my gears oh oh ralphie the fuck's your problem that's my grind my gears ralphie oh we do we granted him earlier but anyways yeah those people fucking suck so um boys oh what do you got no great great stuff with devin cooley i was in the background for that what a interesting character just to like we had a goalie but like he thinks on a different level and yeah it was uh really really enjoyed listening to that and hopefully the fans do as well all right when's the last time you read a book uh i finished the karen reed book did you did you got you got your copy right keith yeah yeah you're welcome uh i said thank you i texted you i'm bust i'm breaking i'm breaking in balls did you read it when you say oh yeah thanks and then you actually or when you say thanks says you never said thanks and then that's a true read my gears did you read it no no no you can't read okay no it it was a great book no i finished that in about four days of a month but i um i i have been trying to pick up my reading a little bit because i uh i wish i wish i read at the level i did when i was younger but you know the internet weed matt christopher these dreadlocks are too tight i don't know i can't concentrate yeah all right everyone thank you so much we love you guys devin cooley halloween happy halloween that's impossible it won't happen won't happen won't happen again a bad habit worth breaking but it's taking time and i know you don't let it it's gonna happen it's gonna happen again you
