The podcast combines product promotion with in-depth hockey analysis, spotlighting Ryobi’s outdoor power tools as a key feature, available at Home Depot and accessible via a dedicated website. This is paired with a detailed, fan-driven discussion of the Ottawa Senators’ electric October game against the Florida Panthers, highlighting crowd energy, player performances, and memorable moments like Brady’s post-game celebration and Stutzel’s rivalry with him. The conversation delves into fan reactions, including the viral "blind ranking" of game highlights, and critiques of other teams, particularly the Columbus Blue Jackets, whose poor performance and internal struggles are seen as emblematic of a dysfunctional team culture. The discussion also touches on potential trades, such as Buffalo’s interest in Connor Heyl and the value of goalie depth, while reflecting on how fan sentiment and player behavior shape team dynamics. The episode blends humor, nostalgia, and passionate commentary to celebrate the intensity of hockey fandom, emphasizing both the excitement of live games and the emotional undercurrents that define fan loyalty and team identity. Throughout, the hosts maintain a casual, engaging tone, turning a sports review into a shared experience of celebration, debate, and camaraderie.

I brought it towards the coyotes and I asked him if it was okay if I joined the spit-chickles podcast full time. No little bit, no, no. Ryan Whitney's got a pink Whitney out there now. I have just a man-bagger. Get that on camera. He handled the song, man. It's a full-time member. Marley just gotten us this from Chris Bate. Whoa, where buzzing right now. Sunk. Welcome everyone to episode 678 of this spit-chickles podcast presented by Reese's. I don't know what biz was just doing if you're watching on Netflix, but bull. Reese's. I go. Look at this. Reese's is absolutely rocking this time of year. You know, this is Reese's Super Bowl. Halloween is exactly nine days away. Everyone's packing in the peanut butter cups. I actually last night crushed a Reese's little mini pumpkin and just, you know, the Easter time, they got the eggs. Christmas time, they got the special one, but Halloween, the mini pumpkin receipts. Oh, and this sign and biz still doesn't have one. Suck it, biz. The Reese's pumpkins are elite. So just go out, grab one, stock all your candy. You don't need anything else for the trick-or-treaters. You just need Reese's. Hey, you know what I do? What do you do? So ever since I got this, I do a vote of the day who was the best of the day. My whole family, dogs included and you get this. You get to spend the night with this and you get a little Reese's, a Reese's with it. So there's a lot of incentive going on in the Yandel Household. Last night, I got it. I was the best because you could vote yourself. I make the rules. I told Wyatt before practice because he can move pretty good, but there's a lot of practice. He decides not to move. I say, Wyatt, go me out fast. You can skate in every drill and we will crush Reese's after and he showed up. He showed up. Yeah, it's picks the dogs because they can't eat it. So he gets the Reese's. Yeah, it's by the way, my body minds are texting me. You switching the dog callers on Jeff tape's twin dogs. So fun. hilarious. I kind of like didn't realize you said that until he texted me. He's like, that's funny shit. Like the tape. So like, we can't have Keith any over anymore. But guys, I want to give to start this thing off. I want you guys to join me and give him a round of applause to the Ottawa Senators and their fans. Wow. Because he's booing him. Keith, if you, I think Brady would even give him a round of applause. I'm booing because they were booing. Okay. Okay. Let's boo. Ottawa Senators fans. Ottawa Senators fans who've taken a lot of heat in the past. I mean, they got you got biz last year constantly torturing them saying they're the pigeons of Ontario. We got Brady asking for a trade out. We got we for a long time said Brady was going to ask for a trade out for now. He started the rumor years ago. But they deserve a round of applause. Oh, my God. These guys put on these guys and girls last night because not often do you get a game on October 21st and no, it's probably going to be a top five. If not top three, if not the number one best night in the NHL regular season, because that was electric. It was an unreal atmosphere. I got a couple DMs from Sense Vince right when they got back saying it was like the best night they've ever had in that arena. So just an amazing, amazing night and perfect, perfect on the schedule is only one other game. Unfortunately, you guys were working the Philly Buffalo games. Yeah, but it was kind like the times were a little bit separated. So I got to enjoy that. We had it on the split screen. We couldn't like we had the audio from the Philly Buffalo game on. So I couldn't get a lot of these chance in real time. So the group chats just pop it off. Okay. The choreographed chance. And I almost want every fucking captain to lead to stab their team in the back and ask for a trick now. What's happening? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, it is. I know Biz has probably seen these online Keith, but I want to do, I don't know if you've seen the trend sometimes on Instagram where they do the blind rankings where you give somebody, you give some and they got a blank, you got to rank them, right? And you don't really know what's coming next, even though you know some of these. So I'm going to read off all these. These are the chance from last night. These are the chance. And I'm going to chant them actually and you blind rank where you have them. Okay. How many we got? One, two, three, four, five, there's this is that I got like 15 here. Say I'll I'll pick my 10 favorites. No, do off 15. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. You got to bring the same. Hold on. Because you know, you need to know the number exactly. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18. Okay. So we got to agree. We got to agree on it. They should be reimbursed. They're ticket prices for bringing that, but they were the show. They were the entertainers fans were unreal. Not often in life, do you have expectations for something? And we were talking about this season preview episode or or Atlantic Division preview episode about this game and it ends up exceeding your expectations. That was last night in Ottawa. That's. I started getting the butterflies on my stomach when you came up to me at Chickles Cop and you said that an usher from the Ottawa ring Canadian Tires Center showed up and was telling you about this three minute tribute video where I'm like three minutes. It wasn't three minutes. It wasn't three minutes and Brady and incredible. Oh, skates out on the ice and he's smiling. It's like, look at that. Beautiful. Beautiful. That is. And he scores. A scores to go up one nothing. Then Ottawa pounds the pants. It was. It was a very, I'll remember that night for a long time, buddy. And it's a regular season game in October for the NH. You couldn't have scripted it better with him scoring right after that, taunting the crowd. Then when he's going to celebrate, we've had Osama bin Larkin and then now we got Saddam Brady. He had the Adamist Saddam who's saying, what is going on here? And then right after that to tie the game, we have Stutzel who previously was asked about why he didn't go to dinner with him and he drops the, I got a private chef. Yeah. AKA. I wasn't invited. No. Now, Stutzel and Brady, I believe at one point, we're close. If not living together, you can tell zero, zero love loss there. Like now when Brady got the video and came out and was smiling as they boot him, Stutzel was up. Stutzel was up giving him the tap. So like much respect there. But they don't like each other. And I think that Brady and some of those guys are still good friends. But on the ice, they all like he hated everyone and they all hated him. Know the backstory as to why it stutzel specifically. I don't know. And I was honestly shocked by hearing how many guys were at dinner and how hard they played against each other. Like how many guys went to dinner? I think they said, I thought it was around like 10 or something like that. But like, Pinto is a guy, not an overly physical guy. He was so engaged playing so hard going at Brady. Brady was going at him. And I'm pretty sure they're boys like, how about cousins? They were on the same line and they're motherfucking each other in front. It was, it was so electric. And the Tavira's return to Long Island was incredible. I think that that crowd was just as good as Ottawa's. But there wasn't with the way Tavira's plays. There's not like the, the, the, the hitting and the facewashing and the after whistle stuff in Tavira's game that Brady's always brought. So against the islanders that night into as a, as I may believe, it wasn't overly physical. It's just the crowd. This was the crowd along with Ridley Greg and cousins and Pinto and, and who else am I forget? Some, um, howl in it. Yeah. Yeah. But we had two fights in the game. Bennett fights. Hodgson fought, I believe. Hodgson fought. But, uh, let me read you the, the, the, do you think they were sharing appetizers at dinner? I don't know. I had to shift. Oh, the other part that was the other part that was awesome was, um, the amount of cheers and the excitement the sense fans gave to Lars Eller, who I think played 60 games for the center. Yeah. Yeah. Whoa. Oh, go ahead yet. I was just going to sit. Don't like, I think I, I agree with them chanting, booing all that shit during the game. I thought it was a little disgusting that they booed during the, when they were giving them the ceremony on the TV. Oh, you're crazy. Yeah. You're crazy. And I think you said I, I, I, but
They don't give a flying fuck anymore and and well I'll I'll give you this when Matthew went back to Calgary They booed him all game, but during the video they did cheer now What is weird is it's kind of similar like they Mathieu did the basically the same thing. I'm not gonna resign here. So they traded them now You didn't have the gold medal us first Canada and the White House stuff. So that's a separate thing, but I think some of Brady's quotes that he had like I'm here to win a Stanley Cup with the senators and maybe that's how they're looking I don't know if Matthew ever had those quotes where he was very adamant about always being a part of Calgary So there were some differences, but the flames fans did cheer during Matthew's video part But the rest of the game they booed him you knew or you had you were crazy if you thought they weren't they were gonna be cheering during that I would have been shocked cuz what you like are what you said that the the the usher said was they were gonna be silent for it and then That was a rumor from this guy that guy might not even been an usher. He might have been from Charlestown He's been lying to me. It was all right So and even backing it up before the game How about this post from the senators Instagram account? He's back So everybody's sticking like he's talking about braid. They're talking about Brady He wants to win and then it was Josh Shandert. Welcome back Josh Shandert. So the troll Jake Sanderson bass Jake Sanderson. Yeah, I can't wait for him to get asked for a trade out and they bring that up. Hey, hey I want to say quickly Jake Sanderson. He'd come back from Injury. The money's vast. He has some of that coin use in him The the amount of defenseman in the last two nights that I've seen They make a quick step with the blue line. They're three feet from the offensive blue line behind them And and the spinorama and immediately escape across horizontally across the offensive zone Like that was not happening when I played and Quinn used us it all the time Sanderson did it seven times last night. He's unreal kind of forgot about how good he is and and how good all it is Like they are a hell of a team. They got no goal tending last year Unfortunately all markets hurt last night, but he's been incredible But I want to get the blind ranking of the champs. Well, I'll shout out to Josh. Fuck you Brady. We don't I would say I would say 18. I would say 18 because it's just like that's pretty standard. Fuck you Brady. That's not that creative Yeah, so why I'm ranking you have to say it first and then we break. Yeah, and now I know 18 to go last on that one That's a that's a swear with kids. Let's do 10 biz. Let's do 10. Yeah, I got to pick 10. I got to pick 10 I'll get that that's one of them. That's one of them. I'll say I'll say that's nine. Okay Matthews better. Yeah, because they used to chant Brady's better. So it's kind of funny I'll put that at seven. Okay. Okay. I'll agree with the answer. I think this was my one You eat crayons You can't read in the crayon eating I don't understand like he went to college. He's got to be pretty smart No, I somebody who you can go to college to play hockey and be so dumb. I'm gonna take Brady is Okay, I just thought that they would taste like they smelled that's that's where I went wrong. So I'm gonna go number two. Okay. Okay. Okay Brady's in bread. I don't like it. I don't like it. I Can't say I'd enjoy it as a family member. Funny's funny though. I know but fucking family members is not funny I'm gonna put it this time. Yeah 11 because it's out of the top 10. It's out of pocket Should be fucking family members. This was pretty pretty is balding boys, boys I'm losing it. We're all kind of losing it Those hate hard those hate hard now Brady's able to pull off the short hair very well The 17 times as helmet was off in the game. He looks good with the short hair But he's losing it a little bit the picture of the guy with the goon. He's mask on next to him In warm up was fucking insane. Yeah, that is a Can we pull that one up like there's no way he wasn't even laughing at that. Oh for sure He was laughing as the whole place boot him. He's probably laughing and everything. I'll put Brady's balding at six Those were kind of the funniest ones, but this one Bez very funny retweet by you fuck your podcast. I'm just like they just kept coming with everything And it's like what like they just thought of every I think they they were ruthless How do they get on the same page? It was like the whole arena knew I mean there's 18 listed here Some are very original some are just standard, but the whole crowd would kind of hear one guy yell it and boom there Chan fuck your podcast. There's the picture. There's a picture for anyone watching this podcast I just Let's not lose focus on Brady Doing all this to make all this happen, right? So he's the catalyst that created all this entertainment So thank you to the company and You think that part of this animosity was the way that the because they were fuck you in the podcast Was because this kind of like It's almost like they were leaving crumbs that this was going to happen on the pod like Walt was making comments like you think that that that's what kind of sparked all this What was he saying? I don't remember. I feel like there was one clip. There was one clips. There were some crumbs here Yeah, yeah, there was just fine. I don't give a shit And there was even the time like big Walt was carving guys Was any carbon kind of guys without name and names that like weren't playing through injuries on Florida I think he's gone at both teams. Oh, I mean the one yeah, I don't rip Florida on the radio But there was also a time I think Walt said on the pod When's your deal done something something like that from yeah, like little crumb. I'll say this boys The kachak's love him or hate him. I'm big fans of that family You can't whether you hate them or love them. They are content factory factory Go back to the four nations game in Montreal. Yeah, I mean Matthew said the morning of we're gonna flip this game on his head Like that if you can't if you can't admit that these guys are unreal for hockey. I don't I don't know what to tell you I think even senators fans like yeah, there's hatred for Brady and leaving a trend and one of the chance you're a traitor Buddy like They loved him when he was there. He plays the right way He plays exactly as your captain would want to play unfortunately he chose to leave But deep down these fans know like this guy's electric the way he plays the game and same with Matthew like there's no shifts off There's constant after the whistle bullshit that brings your team into the fight and they offensively produce Matthew's got more goals through 10 games than any Florida panther ever besides Pavl Burray Brady you mean Brady Yeah, yeah, isn't that why like all that stuff you just said about Brady and what he brought to that Organization for I think it was eight years That's why I thought he would maybe get some cheers during the ceremony and then obviously the chance and everything A okay with that, but that's why I thought during the ceremony they'd give him his flowers Recognize what he meant for that team for such a long time because I mean at the end of the day too, right like he knew He wasn't going to resign there and he he gave them an opportunity to trade him two years before he was going to leave as somebody who's never given that type of like You know my heart and soul to an organization like yeah, you know Well, I'm saying like he had so much more impact captain like help develop all those like the young players on the team like Obviously lug in 20 minutes a night like I I don't know how he would feel about the fact that they never once really acknowledged that during that, but Going back to what you said with and like now the fact like they have a podcast and now like we get to hear his comments about what he Experience and how he lived through what he just went through so you mentioned the term content factory like these Like these new guys who were signed at 18 million dollar tickets They should be swabbing those guys knobs being like thank you for bringing the noise because since the Since the foreign nations all the way till then who are the biggest names in hockey Like the Kachuk family like that's like Better than what fucking the Hughes family's bringing just kid and Pasha But no, but on a serious no like it's yeah, it was it was fucking sick like I mean look at what we get to talk about for the first 20 minutes of the pod We're we're we're blind-ranking fucking chance that although the fans had for him And we could even go through the whole list so bravo to everybody involved Yeah, and the players too the plate like the other was senators Florida Panthers like they put on an absolute clinic for us It was it was one of the best games you'll ever see this early in a season It was it was I couldn't change the channel even in between periods I would have liked that if it was a little bit closer Um, and then I think that one thing that was lost in all this I don't even know if we got to talk about it last pod was Travis Green got an extension as their coach Yeah, I think we mentioned it. I think we last pod But yeah, well deserved now Another funny aspect was um Stutzels chef actually tweeted. I think are on Instagram after the game tweeted you should have hired me as your chef to break your something like that So everyone in the city was involved with with with what we saw in that game and and leading up to it, but You know Florida
I'll tell you, this Eckblad, and we can also say, I believe we are about 15 days out from a truck brother sandbagger with Aaron Eckblad. So, I mean, if you don't think business is showing up with the goonies mask, and maybe I have an auto, we got to get in these guys' heads. And Eckblad, Eckblad's flying forearm shiver move that he's doing now. It is meant for the chest. I think many times he's caught guys right in the chest. It sometimes misses and looks like it might kill someone. Yeah. I think that was in the game last night, I think he caught someone with an elbow. I'm going to be wearing one of those NFL helmet pads on my brain. Guardian. Guardian. Guardian helmet. My God. They are just the fucking, they're the true villain hockey team of this, of this century. That's fucking, can you name a more hated hockey team than in like since the turn of the century? No. They're the full time bill. If they hadn't won, if they hadn't won back to back, it wouldn't be like this. But the winning, it's like the winning, and then Brady going there and then he captured the Bennett version. Yeah. Yeah. Everything. All of it. I think going back to Eckblad's flying elbow, it's like, you know, when you throw a punch and miss, it always looks a lot worse than if he actually hit you because you don't fold. He doesn't fully extend. He just kind of gets you right in the chest. But when you miss, it gets fully extended and it looks a lot worse than it is. Didn't he get suspended for that and play us against Tampa? No, I think he did it to the leaves, Goldtunder and they let it fly under the rug. I thought he did it against him. He's gotten suspended for that. But people like, I see like Edmonton writers like posting it like, what the fuck, dirtiest team in the league? When will you suspend them, George? When will you suspend them? I don't, Eckblad, Eckblad, it reminds me like of like Darian Hatcher, like just like killing people out there with elbows. But I, yeah, Ottawa, Ottawa ends up winning that game. They look awesome. Stutzel. Stutzel's off to another incredible start. I was surprised to read this that, uh, where is it? I saved it here. Most career points by a European trained player prior to the age of 25. Stutzel has more than Leon Dry's title. He's at 423, pasta 427, copatar 434, then it goes Sundine, Kovalchuk, Yari Curry, Ovechkin and Yarmere Jagger was number one. So he's an unreal player, uh, wise, he scored and Ottawa looks good. So hopefully all marks okay. I know that I might not be saying this if I was still a Leafs fan, but there was more energy in that building at the Canadian Tire Center and that one game that I've seen in Toronto, fucking, maybe ever. Like they, they are, I would, I would say this too. I will crown them the Kings of Ontario for now after that performance. Thank you. Well, you do. Do they have to back it up or now they can go back to sleepy, though? I think that they could take a dump for the next six weeks and it wouldn't matter. No, not the team, the, the fans. I would say that, that Canadian Tire Center is probably louder than Toronto on average. 100%. Toronto's brutal. And I played at least you're talking standard regular season game. And I played there in the playoffs, which was a top three atmosphere I've ever played a playoff game in that place brushes, brushes where the Leafs play. I'm really hoping that now they've been given the crown of Ontario that they don't fuck it up. And they continue to bring that energy throughout the rest of the regular season. And then obviously make playoffs. I have said that I would, considering Bob went to Toronto, I would have loved to have seen a Florida Toronto first round matchup scratch that. Yeah. We need Ottawa, Florida. We need it. We need it. That would be, that would be, uh, that would be electric. Um, I also, Eckblad was suspended two games in 2025 for a flying form elbow to Brandon Hangels head. Yes. That's right. Before we move on from Florida, it's set Jones needs to get his flowers to. He's been playing. We've been talking a lot that the Norris's bushes, but Seth Jones is putting his name in there. He's got, I think 11 points playing over 25 minutes a night. He's been a whore. So I just wanted to give him his fall. He looked great last night too. Yeah. I agree. Yeah. He's been awesome. And then like, it just goes to show people were writing them off after you sign that big ticket in Chicago. It's like, it has a lot to do with the team that you're on, boys. It was the same with you don't never judge a good defenseman on a bad team. And that was, that was the first time I kind of heard that and saw people, it might have been Jeff Merrick. I first saw say that that it was Seth Jones on Chicago. That's who he was talking about. So pretty funny. You can bring, you can bring that to a lot of guys now if they're good defenseman on bad teams. Now talk about bad teams. Go back to Tuesday night. And Aaron porcelain is a, is a very well respected writer for the Columbus Blue Jackets. He tweeted, this was last night, watching how the senators fans have welcomed back Brady could chuck and the Florida Panthers tonight in Ottawa, a five one route plus fights, ruffings and debris everywhere, just reaffirms what a pathetic showing that was by the Columbus Blue Jackets first, Carl Marchenko and the Leafs on Tuesday night. And give fan tillie credit, fan tillie ran him over. I don't think there's any sort of comparison to Marchenko's exit like Brady's. But Marchenko was pretty open. They didn't want to be there. We talked about the quote during training camp. And I think before the game, fan tillie mentioned like almost good thing he's gone like we, we don't want people who don't want to be here, but Columbus gets smoked again, absolutely smoked. And I and the group chat was going nuts because we're addicted to bones, losing his mind on a daily basis right now. And bones after the game. I think he realized our like how many times can I crack the web? I can't keep in the press telling these guys how much they stink. And he kind of came out like in a happy mood, not a happy mood. But hey, we had effort there. Like they got cross six to and okay, I'm thinking bones is realizing this guys who don't want to be here. I got I can't keep just dog in them and then practice starts next day in which a video is released of bones slamming a stick off the boards, making them do a drill again saying stop doing it half fast. And I just thought I just thought the Columbus blue jackets right now has to be the most miserable NHL team to be on it is dark days. And I think Jeff O'Neal mentioned something about like there are guys who probably want no part of being there right now that aren't that aren't big enough names to come out and request a trade, right? But there's other ways to get your point across. And apparently I caught when I don't know if this is true, but this needs to be discussed as a topic. And if it's not like once again, like it may not be true. So to the like no heat towards this guy, but apparently Varankov drove to the ring with Marchenko. No way, it is boys, apparently he drove with Marchenko to the arena before they faced off against one another now. Once again, this might be a complete rumor that I call a former hockey player told me this yesterday. I would have I would have never have said this unless I heard it. That has to be the most ridiculous thing. It would have been a clean breakup. And this guy would have gotten traded unexpectedly. Maybe, maybe even then pulling up a guy or both crazy. It's crazy. Oh, Varankov had an assist in 10 minutes of ice that night, two shots, one hit. So it wasn't zeroes across the board. But but you're not supposed to make the other guy feel comfortable. I like. My only guess is they stay at that four seasons in Toronto or no, it was in Yorktown. But there's like a next door to it. There is like the residents. So he probably lives in there and they were staying at the same hotel. He jumped in. Still don't agree with it that, oh, no way. And then all of a sudden this comes out. This was today. Some teams calling with interest on Winger, the meat tree, Varankov, not saying he will be traded for sure, but Columbus listening. So I don't know if I saw that. If bones found out that he drove to the rank with Marchenko, like the mood he's been in, that would be something that he would take serious offense to guaranteed. Yeah. Like we can't get a win here and you're driving and you guys are shit talking me in Russian, the entire ride on the way to the rank, which you know, Varankov's probably like this is awful. Right now. He played 10 minutes, also G said that was Pierre Lebron, the tweet business red. He's also saying right now that, well, G saying we're in ski trade chat is about going to start getting a lot louder. I agree with that. And then let's say Lebron reports that he is on the trade market. So. So I said this in a clip that we posted, like I think less than a week ago now. And I had Columbus fans like being like, what are you talking about? We got a bright future. We got this. We got that. People out of their fucking minds. These people I will not say a word about Blue Jackets fans. I'm not a listen. The ones that are delusional to the fact that Warensky's probably going to get moved. We got Varankov having a new definition for tummy sticks, because that's as crazy as I've heard it. There's like, you have the coach going nuts like every other day. It's like bipolar at this point to where he's like back and forth, back and forth.
for it. I just go back to last year at the end of the year and how hard they fought to like even get them within conversation for playoffs. I don't think that that was the card to pull at the end of the season. I think it's it's almost like you lost them then and they're probably like, boys, we had nothing left in the tank. We went on a 12 game run when you first God here, we were fucking win and win and win and you know, yeah, we fell off the edge, but, but I just don't think that was the right time to use that bullet and it's been playing catch up ever since. And if it like what happens if all of a sudden were rents, he's out the door and and and Varokov and and now all of a sudden this team doesn't have a number one defenseman and they win 15 games the rest of the year. What do you do if you're the coach? You've already used all those bullets. What do you do? No, there's nothing you can do because the his whole thing was, you know, doesn't know what's going on in the locker room, doesn't like the effort and stuff like that. And then he goes back on it after the game in Toronto after they get humbled. And then he's like, no, there's no question that, you know, the guys are good in the locker room. Everything's fine. The culture's fine. Then what is it? Because then you see him snapping in practice. Like, is it bipolar? Like, there's just so much going on. If you're a player in that locker room, you're like, what are we getting today? If you're a Columbus Blue Jackets fan and business considering you one of the delusional ones, you are allowed to be delusional, they have been packing that rink for years. They've won one playoff series in, I think, 23 years. When did they come in the league? It might have been even before I think they've been in the league since 2000, maybe 99 to 26 years, they've won one series. They swept the president's trophy Tampa Bay Lightning. And they've had absolutely nothing since. So if you want to be somebody who lives in Columbus and is completely delusional to what's happening with the Blue Jackets, you know, the future's bright. Go right ahead. We'll even welcome you into an assay in asylum. You are welcome to be crazy because you deserve to be crazy because you've had absolutely nothing to cheer for for 26 years. Besides a 10 day span, they had 10 good days in Columbus in 20. So this is, this is a funny one too. I've gotten about four or five messages, a few DMs that it's my fault because I got Babcock fired. They're seeing what he's doing an Edmonton right now. And now they're blaming me because I took their coach away. Hey, they're on. They're on. They're on. Oh, God. Um, quick, I think Babs could fix them. I think Babs could fix anyone. I think they're really. I think the cock. I've said it, guys, there's an all time coach and all time great that you're witnessing an Edmonton. And we'll get to Edmonton and Wildfans who I've always gotten along well with, but a whiny bunch on Twitter the other night, but I want to go back. I want to go back to, uh, I forgot one thing. I don't know if you guys saw this in the Ottawa, Florida game. Well, two things because I wrote down. I forgot to check my notes when we were chatting about it. There was three people standing together with Brady jerseys on, but they changed the names on the back. It was ogre liar and an old school great insult dummy. If you call somebody a dummy, it's funny. I'm sorry. If you're like, you're a fucking dummy. Oh, I've been taught. It's hard. Yeah, dummy hits hard. It's a minute hand, especially. He's always like, this guy's a dummy. I'm like, Oh, it's on my TSA card. The other part of the game. It was the worst, one of the worst penalty calls I've ever seen. And if it were to happen in a playoff game, I, I think that fan base is head sort of exploded. Ottawa goes on the power play with 12 minutes to go. It's a one, one game, 12 minutes in the second period. Batherson has his stick on the ice. He's going for a puck. Forcelyn comes over the top with a Tomahawk chop breaks his stick over Batherson stick. They gave Batherson a penalty. No, they didn't. Yeah, buddy, buddy. And I was, and I was just, I kind of think like, what if this is playoffs? Travis green his face. He was, it was crazy. And I'm like, how can you review of a high stick is from your own teammate or your own stick and not review like it was bizarre, but I'm just, just want to say that. Funny that you say that because that identical situation that you just mentioned, I believe it was meech cob ended up high sticking Trevor Zegress last night. And they, he wasn't cut. And they gave a two minute penalty to power. And then they put it on the jumbo tron. And then they see it's friendly fire, but they can't review it because it's only two. Oh, it's wait. It's only two. The only time you can review it if it's four. So only if you're bleeding, you can do it. Oh, and power. Oh, I've never seen on power yell or get angry. Ever. Not ever. Ever. His face is completely ready. He's fucking losing it because they were down in the game. I think they were down to nothing. And if they score on that power play, fucking three nothing game over the way that blood hours playing, but he they are showing. They are showing Buffalo savers fans in the crowd. And you could see some of some of the fans like neck veins. They were losing it because they kept playing it on the jumbo tron man. I was having a ball watch this. Obviously if you're Buffalo fans in Lindy Roth, you're like, you're about to have a fucking stroke, but kind of funny that he mentioned that, but the fact that he came over the top and broke his stick on a tomahawk chop breaks his own stick on bathroom and bathers is getting brought to the penalty box. And him and Travis greener like, what is is this? Is this where's Ashton Koocher hopping out of the closet? I wasn't that a one second fix where it's like, they just called down and they say, oh no, foursling came down on him. Yeah, I don't, I don't know. And I didn't know that you could only review the high stick. If it was a four minute cause of blood, I thought it was any high stick. I didn't know that. But sticking with you mentioning Buffalo Philly, Buffalo loses again, three, one, the Buffalo Sabers fan base, they are done with UPL. That from what I'm reading and seeing, UPL has really struggled. Now it was a pretty good exchange on Buffalo talk radio G. Look up the names of the reporter. It was a great radio. It was great radio. It was great radio because basically, I don't think we can play it. But the radio host is saying, I'm sorry, the reporter for the Sabers started saying, like, yeah, Sabers fans, they're just done with them. Like, nothing he can do. Every goal is his fault. And then this the radio host is like, well, listen, like, I'm not saying he's got to stop everything. And I'm not saying that they'd be ten and off. They had Connor Hellibuk because that's what the Buffalo reporter had said. Those fans think they'd be ten and oh, he'd have ten shutouts. And it was a good back and forth to like, I'm not expecting greatness out of UPL, but they're losing games because of him right now. I think he has the worst five on five save percentage in the league right now and or the tandem does. But he's playing majority of the games, I believe, because Lyon is not in the lineup currently. I think. So Jeremy White, the radio talk show host and it was Paul Hamilton WGR 550 and Buffalo great exchange. You can look that up. And then the discussion around what Jeremy White was saying is like, you have a guy and he was tweeting, you have an elite goalie. You need a goalie. You don't have a goalie in the minds of the fan base and a lot of people in Buffalo with UPL. You have one of the best in the world that is willing to come here. That's the point he's making so many times guys won't come to Buffalo. You got a guy who's willing to come here. You got to get you got to make this happen. You have to get it done. And then Darren Drago reports that and I think he's pretty dialed in with Winnipeg that the only offer they have or the real discussion they've had is with Carolina, which I'm surprised about because if I'm Carolina, like you won the cup last year, like that's a big move. I think hella bucks incredible, but I'm not necessarily giving up a ton for him after winning it last year with with Busy. Now Anderson's gone, but you saw Busy did in the final few games. So I think that was Niketion center to like that was the premise of the trade. It was a Niketion going to Winnipeg for hella back coming back obviously with a few more. And I think Elliott was the one who reported if Niketion would go to win if he would resign in Winnipeg, the trade would already be done right now. But Elliott also did report this morning that Carolina has finally moved off the Niketion trade package. And they're now looking at another package to really try and bring hella buck in. Okay. So if you're and you consider yourselves as a contender in the East, you can't one. Yeah. I don't think they're a contender with they have they have like the second or third youngest team league after moving off of talk. They have a lot of they got con hell. I would consider them as they could win the East. I would with that decore and hella buck in that and the young. Yeah, they they're young, but they buddy. They got players up there up front too. You need to save right now. And I see that's fair. That's fair. But you're saying that, but are they going to have to part with a roster player? Like are you giving up Jack Quinn and part of that part of that move? No, but I'm looking at is it coolie cool lick or or. Hellanias or they they have a ton of young guys, buddy. Like they're they only have one milling cap space to live 1.6 minutes. They have to cross the player. Okay. Okay. That's yeah. I'm not moving Benson. I thought Benson was going to get one. He hasn't scored yet. Can we not can we not forget here to like I won Swamon's worst year was when he held out and he wasn't. So now you don't even know what you're going to get when he gets back to that goalie. Okay. And this guy has improved himself and playoffs. So you're the it's a gamble, man, because once you get him, you got him at five years and locked in for eight million. To me, you're like, let's.
Let's see if UPL can turn, maybe turn it around or like they do have a three goalie rotation because I believe it's lion and then who's the other guy that got, listen, yeah, Alice. I'm not saying that's, that's a goal, a goal, a goal tending threesome. I don't know why I just said that. That's going to win you a Stanley Cup, but trifecta trifecta, not trifecta, thank you. But I also don't, I don't know, I, I think patience could help Buffalo in this instance because like, look at, look at like when, like Colorado needed to address goal tending. They went and found two guys that were available. It's such a fickle thing. We're about to talk about Dolbish. You would have said Dolbish is the goalie of the future for Montreal, fucking, he turned into a pumpkin this off season to look at how he's playing. They just wrote. But I see what you're saying, but Carolina won the cup last year and they're hunting them. So obviously, okay, but they also have a ton of cap space and Bussie only makes one, whatever seven or something. Yeah. What is your PL make because you, when you're saying four million, he has a million bucks. What is your PL make? So add his money. All right. So they have five and a half, they have five and a half four seven five. So you have five point seven five in space. All right. So they don't have Ryan McLeod is a name that has been off and linked to this trade as well. He makes around five million bucks per year. Now the question is, who's going to take you PL? Everyone's like the Rangers in a three way or a three some busy, but who wants him right now? Yeah. It's a fickle position. You're right. But I just think if you look at Buffalo and that Jeremy White saying you actually have a star in the league who will is willing to come here is a big part of his statement that so many guys in the past, I'm like, I'm not going to Buffalo. Yeah. That's why I think they need to get the deal done and the you PL situation, like, you know how it is not only just for players, but for goalies, once it's in your head, like he's hearing the noise that everybody wants him out, nobody wants him there. He's probably like Jesus Christ. Let's get this deal done so I can go somewhere else, get a fresh start. So I think for any, for everyone to be successful in this trade, it needs to happen soon. You got to get a guy in or you got to set everybody down and be like, Hey, we're not going to have to hella buck. We believe in you PL. We believe in Lion. We believe in Alice. Whatever it is. So whatever it is going to be, they have to figure it out as soon as possible because the more you let it linger, especially in the goal-tending situation, it's not good. And Biz, you brought up Dolbus and we can, do you have anything else on that, Biz? No, I just, like I, I, I agree with the guy on the call who was saying that like, if you go get him, it's not necessarily just going to address everything. Because now all of a sudden you, you're, you're losing a roster player. They don't have talk anymore. That's probably to me the biggest frustration for Buffalo fans, but it's like, we didn't spend the money signing, resigning him as a, and he went to free agency. They probably assumed like now that money is going to be used to, to bring in hella buck and address what probably is their week, weekest position right now. They have enough skilled forwards. I mean, last night against Philly, they were fucking buzzing. They, I think they finished the game of 20 great A scoring chances and it was awesome. Look, Vlodaro played out of his mind. So yeah, we're, let me, let me ask you this, where do you want to see hella buck? Buffalo. Buffalo. Same. I, I just think it's like a great storyline. You gave the Ryan Miller comparison and how good he was there. Maybe it's the American goalie thing, but I just look at an exciting team who right now can't get a save. And also the Tuck, I think the fans with Tuck, the fans knew or were thinking like, yeah, the final few years of that deal. Maybe he's not the player he is now, but we know for the next four to five years, Tuck looks awesome in Washington and he would have kept looking at good and Buffalo and he liked it there. And so that's another thing we had a guy who wanted to be here from New York. I don't really care about the last three years of his deal where he's slowing down big time. You want to win now, they had a little taste last year, they finally got in and then you lose a local guy. I mean, local in terms of he's from the area sort of and, and, and he enjoyed being a part of there and they didn't want to pay him. So there's a lot of frustration from the fans, but the reporter also said in that argument on the radio, what you, what you mentioned that they're giving up great, eight chances. It's just getting hella buck won't fix what I think are their issues. So no, I, I mentioned that they put up 20 in great age, I know, but the reporter said they're giving up chances like they're, they're, they're, they're giving up, which maybe last night they weren't. Yeah. If you, if you're a fan, like, I feel like a lot of people are saying they don't want to, you know, get rid of a roster player, but to get a caliber goalie, especially goalie, like Connor Hellibut, you're going to have to lose something, no? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I think that Utah's a more oppressive team. I just put this in the chat. I agree. The, the reason I would like to see him go to Utah is because I know that they could end up getting him and even another big piece with players that aren't even on their current roster. Like, yeah. I believe that Taje Ginla and, and, and that day and day or a review, proud of the French kids name, like those are two prospects that would actually move the needle and potentially fetch a few superstars over at least, at least hella buck, like you would have to imagine that the Jets, if you're offering up a Ginla and a first that their fears are purking up. No? Yeah. Compared to like where she said instant cup favorite, like you, if they got a stud defect, if you just get hella buck, I'm not saying they're the cup favorite. I think that they're, they're more of a cup favorite by getting hella buck than what Buffalo would be by getting hella buck. Yeah. If you talk about it offensive to Buffalo's got a way better D way better than Utah. Either way, we can go over to Montreal, incredible atmosphere. As always in the bell center Tuesday night, San Jose is down three one in the third. They get the winner in overtime by celebrating his second of the game. He also added an assist. It was a snipe Stenberg, Stenberg being a rookie running the top of the four on three in overtime, like awesome, no look over to Celebrini. But the story was doughbush and Eric Engels wrote an article. Did you see that fake one time or past that celebrity made, and like did they score? No. So basically it was slid over to Celebrini and he faked like a big bomb one time or off the right wing. And he, he like passed it towards a slot for like a high tip play, which ended up in the back of the net. It was the folies goal. But the folies. Yeah. Go watch that fake clapper over the middle with the folie pop it out in the center. It right into the folies bread basket, just such a sick little dish and play and an awesome come back. Actually, Wonton Don, KB no swag and chaps went to that game. They'd never been to the bell center. So that was a pretty, pretty cool game for them to witness live, obviously a little bit better nightlife. You get the four, three win and over time, but tough sledding as you mentioned for, for, for, for Montreal and some goal-tending issues and news just breaks right now to Zuki's out two to four weeks. He has a five hundred and forty six game Iron Man streak. So that's over. That sucks for him. That sucks for the Canadians. And I, I also saw that Celebrini was getting some of the booze from Montreal. If you're a visiting player and you haven't char a style on patch already almost killed a Montreal Canadian, but you're getting booed. That means you're superstar status, which we all know. But you're getting booed as an opposing player who's never done anything to the Canadians. That just is so that's, that's, that's bossy. That's just out of respect. Yeah. That's out of respect. Like we're going to boo you because you're that good. That, that's a sign that you know, I am, I am a top five player in this league. That wakes those guys up though, like sometimes you got to let those guys sleep. Us morals when we were on Pittsburgh, we were playing Yager on the Rangers and he was sleepy and they're bowing them and we're on the bench, we're like, stop, stop, stop. Now, granted the history there, that was always a thing as he came back on the capitals and the Rangers and the flyers, but those guys don't need to hear that. Yeah. And the thing is, you know, you're getting as that as Celebrini, he's getting booed because of how good he is. So it's like, it's to see a confidence booster like I'm not good. I'm going to have me booing me louder. But the article angles wrote after the game. It says, so he, Dolby, they beat Toronto first game of the year, he won that game. He gave up six in a loss to Pittsburgh, five in a loss to Carolina. Then Fowler goes in for three games, right? He beats Buffalo on the weekend and then fans find out Dolby's starting against San Jose, they're furious. But he looks great. They got a three one lead, they end up making it three, three go to overtime and he decides for no reason. I don't understand why goalies do this. Just interfering with who was the player he bumped into that was skating through the crease position. I don't know, but he did it. He didn't play offs too. I sure he took a penalty with that. But was he outside of his crease like he was the other night? Like he was pretty far out. Usually they just give you the little chicken wing. Like he's that's that's far out. Like usually they're in the blue and they'll give you a, you know, because that's their area. They can stay in there. That one. He's outside of it. Absolutely. Ridiculous penalty. He was just like just puts out his arm like it's the most obvious call like what do you want the ref to do? And they were, they were. Like everyone was changing. It was just like there. You weren't even setting a pick for anyone. She's getting a little cocky on the chat here. She wants you. Come on and address the Canadian fans in what you're writing. Well, I said this summer that they should trade Dolby.
I thought his stock was at an all time high and I thought that I think followers the future. So I got a ton of shit from Canadians fans for saying that saying that Dolbus is actually the future is bigger. He's better. I don't know. I think followers clearly the future here and I think they should have traded Dolbus. They probably could have got that filled that center depth if they were willing to part ways with them this summer. And they didn't. I don't know. That's a tough one. After that run and like I know it's we're gambling. We're gambling here boys. But I'll tell you boys they would halok one on that run and they knew he wasn't the guy for the future and it was price and I don't think Canadians have ever saying saying like trade price and I don't think anyone said trade Fowler you want you want strength in net. Now they have Montenbo too. So I guess if you look to trade that would have had to be where Kent Hughes and Gorts are like Fowler is certainly like no question going to be a star in this league. There would have been balls. I'll say that. I mean, I guess it's it could still happen. But Dolbus. Yeah. A little bit of a head case kind of just and St. Louis had some good quotes talking about almost like there's times as a coach you could see guys want it too much and it's true. It's like kind of hard to describe. But when you're so obsessed with what you're doing and you're living and dying on every save and practice and every game and then you start hearing noise from the outside. Like there needs to be a time where you're just kind of take a step back and realize it's going to be okay. This is St. Louis talking. So it's going to be interesting to see what a way to approach that. Yeah. He knows what he's doing and you think of how high like Dolbus was probably the king of the city last year in Montreal like getting so much love and then you struggle a little bit this year coming in and obviously it's a long season. You can struggle for a handful of games, but it gets magnified a little more in Montreal. So yeah, those words by Marty are amazing. And that's why he is the coach that he is. So Edmonton, Minnesota had a hell of a game. It was it was electric right side of two talks. The cock was actually taught my David another three points. He has more assists than anyone has points in the league right now. The cock was talking about how good Erickson Eck was before the game and he scored first. Now if you look at the posh stats, the advanced stats, many kind of took it to Edmonton, five on five, especially the top line, Capriceau's line kind of dominated when they were out there. Quinn Hughes had moments. He was incredible. But my beef with the wild fans was and there was a lot of calls. It was a little bit of a ref show. I'll admit, I think Edmonton. I think Edmonton had more calls go their way than Minnesota did. But the complaints from the many fans about the penalty and over time, like that is that is a blatant too many men on the ice penalty. Like I don't know. I don't know how that was the that was the penalty they were complaining about. Hughes hops on the ice and Hughes was mad after the game about it. It's like that was it was too many men. It was obvious and Bouchard. I mean that goal on his birthday. And he had hit the crossbar earlier in the game with just he's got to release like a 50 goal score. Is Bouch good is Bouch on really eyes on real is the teams on real. The team is just running through team, but they got Caroline a Thursday night. That's going to be incredible. And I just I can't say enough good things about Edmonton and Minnesota. Once again, you guys picked them to miss the playoffs. They look great. They could have won that game easily. They controlled five on five, bold, he's heating up. Caprice off. He hit the post earlier. I don't know if you guys saw the ten and two open up with a defense been dragged all over and he flicks a backhand hits the beach cough. That's where he learned it. And then his the goalie scored early in the third period. It was just it's he's his release is incredible. And he snaps one bar down to make it three to they tied up, but a great game, a great game. That year off has been awesome as well. We talked about their their lack of center depth and that's been Billy G fucking rolled his eyes at the back of his head and he obviously knew he had a he had a second to this last third line center man ready to go and you're taking that next step. So yeah, I'm a fucking idiot. My worst maybe my worst prediction on this podcast and the history of the podcast. Yance, would you agree? Yeah. Oilers, Leafs in the final this year was pretty bad, I think buddy fucking Leafs are fucking they look good last couple games poppy poppy's skate of the best he've skated in the last five years. He let's incredible. If they end up getting wereinsky, you guys better be fucking shaking in your boots. I think I think Elliott's mentioned or I've seen on Twitter, like Carlson with Alfred's in Toronto now, this Pittsburgh makes some moves at some point, but they, they just signed radish. I don't know. Now, what was I just going to say? Oh, I forgot to bring up while talking Buffalo, Philly, incredible that we record and right after Meechkov gets two goals that night against Colorado. Now I predict he's going to get 40 and 40 this year. I got it. I got it. I got it. I got it. I got to say this. Both goals. I don't know. One is a rebound that goes right to him. He buries it in the empty net. Business was like that. And the other one was a sifter from the point with a great screen and I got, I got flyers fans. Yeah, they had me on that night. Look at it. Two goals. I don't know. I could have scored those two goals. Oh, you didn't like when he was a farmer. We got to give him a card. I a little credit. Come on. You didn't like when he McCard McCard? Oh, he dangled. What was that? Wait, what do you mean? McCard McCard? He got on the ice and he did the 10 and two and he went all around the whole year of hips and then fucking McCard losing his footing and then he sent the sifter and yeah, I think it was better. Better screen than a better shot. I mean, that shouldn't go in, but I also think we got to give him a little credit. You know what's funny? Hands is when we said Minnesota wasn't going to make playoffs. What did what did with say? You guys dumbies, dumbies, you guys for haters. Am I a flyer trader? Am I a flyer trader? Am I a flyer trader? I think a meetsaw. 100%. I think I'm turning into a meetsaw trader. I wasn't. I just said one time. I was a little choppy and now the fan, it's like once you come at me, which I respect because I said something about your guy, well, now I'm going to almost lean more into it. The problem being for me is when I go one way, the tide goes the other way. So like this could turn meets gov into, you know, 48 goals this year. And then I'm just eating it from flyers fans. But hey, I can admit when I'm wrong, I just wasn't like two goal game, two goal games amazing in the NHL. I did it one time. Not a big deal in MSG, but I wasn't super impressed by two goals, but it's two goals. And they're winning now. Andy played 18 minutes against Buffalo and had an assist. So flyers fans right now. They got me. They got troll that clip. But speaking of cruise though, and we're going to have you on for Pittsburgh breakdown and Philly. He trained in Philadelphia with your brother, quite a bit this summer and put on like 30 pounds you said. Well, I think he put on a hung out with meech cob. Oh, did you see meech cob workout video? Hey, hey, he does, that was very funny, but he kind of looks ripped up. Oh, he's going to put up 80 points. You think so? I think he's going to get 40 and 40. I couldn't wait to bring it up to you guys because I don't know if he's posting, but people are posting a lot of like meech cob like in the grind. He's got the turbines on his skates this season with the way it was going out his foot speed last year. He's been working on the ladder. Once again, because this is basically Pittsburgh Philly preview joint. Once again, I said his stride was short. I never said a word about his speed. And then all of a sudden people are all over me. And I think even flyers fans have come to my side at this point. You ain't watching Leo Carlson long striding up the ice. He's a little choppy. You can be choppy boys. You can be choppy. I agree. But he's posting those videos like he took to heart your criticism with of his choppy strides. I think that's enough. Hey, this great call right now. He is on pace for 42 goals. All right. And I will agree with you that his, his, you know, it doesn't look pretty, but he gets it done. Imagine the reason it looks a little bit faster is because he shed it a weight vest. Like he lost like 30 pounds, which like all the credit to him. My gripe with flyers fans isn't the fact that I don't think that Meechkov's talented. My gripe is when they win a game. He's got two goals, a chari plays 13 minutes of five on five against Nathan McKinnon and shuts him down and then gets the game winner. And then they're bitching about the fact that Meechkov didn't play 18 minutes. Like, he plays a lead. It's, and also Meechkov, deep in mind in that game, he was out there towards the end of the game for like a good minute and a half. So like there's different things in hockey that revolve around like this, this fucking kid that you're obsessed with hitting his quotas. And sometimes you have to shut other teams top lines down and that's not his role. You have to put the guys on the ice to shut that top line down, that know how to do that. So how about just be happy and stop attacking the coach that the side of the game plan to get you to win against a good Colorado team and they're now on a three game heater. And it has a lot to do with the way that all the young guys have played, including the Meechkov. So I think there's a way for all of us to get along. Our ourselves here. And I think that's why he's not mad. It ain't good.
relax right now. It is going up a level. That's why you told them to see if you told those flyers fans to simmer down till flyers fans to simmer down. They ain't simmering down. They're ripping it up even more Colorado. Interestingly enough. Struggling right now. They lost their they lost last season. They lost. I think it was their fourth game in regulation, January, like seventh or something like that. And they already have four this year. Kind of weird to see that. Now last year didn't go as they hoped with that regular season dominance. So maybe it doesn't end up matter. But we forgot to mention congrats to Kale McCarr, a new dad of twins. So amazing for him and his wife. Congratulations. Two more morals has been somebody who's often said the new dads in the league, they play way better on the road. They get their sleep. There's an at home. They got the daddy day care duties. I have mentioned babysitting before and then my wife says, you're not babysitting your fathering. It's you don't want you don't want to say I'm babysitting about your own kids. She paid you 20 an hour. Relax, honey, with your money. But yeah. And and I guess before we throw it over to Mike Malaw, incredible UFC fighter, unreal knockout the other night. We got to mention Ben Kindle, scary situation. Kyle Dubas actually addressed it. It's Thursday morning right now, a couple of minutes ago about I think he he went unconscious on the on the flight and then he got oxygen. He was okay, but they had to turn the plan or they they couldn't take off whatever happened. They had to turn the plane around and that's just scary. The report was the report was made. I don't know who originally reported it, but right away, I mean with no details or anything, we texted army. He didn't know what was going on. So luckily it sounds like he's going to be okay. I think a bunch of the penguins staff had stayed with him. But that was scary. So luck. Good to hear. He's doing all right. I hope we get some more details in the future and he's not out too long. But that is that is I don't know if you guys ever experienced anything like that with a teammate on a flight. It's crazy. The only one I could remember is member Brett McLean. No, what was that one? Oh, he had like a heart attack. Yeah, he had a heart issue. He had a retire. He's doing good. I I saw one of his buddies at chicklets. Copy. I think he's got a couple of kids and stuff like that. So that was that was tough, but good to hear that he's like obviously living and enjoying life and has a family and you know, there's obviously bigger things in the world than than playing hockey, but that was a that was a scary one and a very good player like he was a natural goal scorer and can. Yeah, can and who were you thinking of? I was thinking vodka. Remember he like ruptured his spleen and Winnipeg in luckily last minute. They told him to stay in Winnipeg because but if he had flown something bad could have happened with like the elevation and so luckily he didn't even get on the flight, but that was kind of the only one I could remember because after we found out what would happen and they were like, oh, if he had flown, he could have died. We were all like, whoa, that's. Well, he goes for the Adam fly. That was yeah, what was that? That was but the NFL came out and people don't know. Jalen hurts. He had a blood clot. Now at the time of flying over to London or wherever they were in Europe playing. It's Jackson
ville. He the blood clots were smaller. He was given the okay that he was able to fly and play crazy enough though. They told him not to sleep. He didn't sleep for 36 hours before the game. Then he flies home. Then they realized that the blood clots have either traveled to different parts of his body or become way worse. He's now out for the season, but the NFL didn't give any extra punishment to the Eagles. So I guess they their doctors passed the test in terms of them allowing him to play, but that was crazy story. What would the no sleeping do? No idea. I don't know. I've heard that before like with that and concussions, they say, don't go to sleep. Concussions. I remember I had a concussion when I was younger and like, I had to be woken up. I think like every two to three hours. I don't know what that does either. Besides ruining your sleep after getting crushed in the head by an elbow. But last thing before we throw it over to Mike Malaud is a short old Jake Allen. We forgot to do this last episode. That's our bad. His 500th career start. I think only around 80 goalies have ever done that in the NHL. Did you say Josh Allen? No, I don't think so. I think we had a lot of Josh is going today. Josh Anderson. If you called Jake Sanderson, Josh Anderson, and then I just called Jake Allen, Jake Allen, and you said I called them Josh and you're incorrect again. You might have to take a lap. Did I say Jake or Josh? She said you said Jake. Okay. Yeah. So you're just you're just I'm Jake and Josh. And right now. Jake and Josh. Shadow Jake Allen. I think they gave them a fishing, they gave them a fishing, a fishing, what is it? Rod Rod. They gave um tackle box, I think. Oh, wow. That's nice. Oh, yeah. Looked like they came with the Rolex and then he returned it for a. Oh, the Michael Ford interview. Yeah. Oh, Zach Benson. We can't we can't let that out of the bag. Zach Benson sold his number nine on the Buffalo Sabers to Josh Norris. We won't tell you for what, but it shocked us to say the least. So shadow Jake Allen. He's been he's had an incredible career. It's been a bunch of different stops. So that's pretty cool to get your 500th start. That's basically the goal is thousand games or even better, right? Cause how many guys have played a thousand games, Keith? I would say definitely more than 86, whatever it is. Yeah. 500 is amazing. Yeah. How many goalies have played a thousand? I think like I'm shocked that he's played that many because he's been a it feels like he's been a backup majority of his career, which is even crazier. Maybe I'm being disrespectful right now. No, he played a lot more than 15 guys have played a thousand games in the NHL. Yeah. So wait. Who started a thousand games Broderon Luongo? I think four goalies have played a thousand games. Martin Broder, Mark Andre Flurry, Roberto Luongo and Patrick Law. All French. What a French. What a list. I'll come back. League. You know what? You know what? Josh Allen should have done a K Jake. Uh, he should have traded in the Rolex for a basketball. I'm sure he has one or two. I think it's St. Louis. He was starting a lot with Elliot in terms of you saying he was. He was an all star. I know, but when you think of him, you know, like, oh, this guy, this guy's probably been a backup at least half of his career. When you're thinking of guys who have played 500, you're like, oh, like, I like, you think of guys like Henrik Lundquist. Then like, just guys who have, yeah, but good for him. Man, I'm not trying to take away. Geez. Fuck. Sorry. I was like, you are. And you should get him that war started. Josh Jeff Malotte plays on the Anaheim Dox. He grinded his way to become an NHL regular. And his brother stole the show. That's Mike Malotte. Mike, the proper one Malotte with a enormous knockout on Saturday night in Edmonton. And we got him on to chat about that in his careers. UFC fighter. Awesome interview. Let's throw it at him right now. Guys, let's talk draft Kings. The NHL moves fast every moment matters. Congratulations. Unbelievable nickname. How do the nicknames come in UFC? Like, do you give yourself that one? Dude, I think that's the corneas thing in the world is if you like give yourself a nickname if you walk in, so I probably shouldn't have called myself with dog and what if you get a biz nasty tattooed on your arm? Oh, brutal. Yeah, man, nothing worse. So the guy coming to the gym be like, you guys all have to call me dragon from now on. Okay. That's me in bed. So unfortunately, this might be a key thing of you. I'm going to log off here, see you guys. Fuck yeah. Nice. He's just kidding this in order to get through it, I have to take that knee to the head. No, you just called yourself biz long enough and tell people so they're calling you into no, nasty. No, no, no, time out. Okay. Dennis Bomby and Stephen Dixon gave me that name and like, you didn't give it yourself. Yeah, but he tattooed it. He tattooed it on his arm. That was yeah, but I'm a douchebag. Like, that's just like that's going to happen. Like, I'm going to, but he didn't know. Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, but I know my douchebaggery. What a fucking, like, what a week this might be for you. I mean, we joked when you first came on, it doesn't really look like you got in a fight. That's usually the best outcome when getting in one of these dust stops, I'm sure. Yeah, man. I mean, you fight one of the best guys on the planet for a 25 minute cage fight. Like, some stuff can go wrong, man. Like, you could you could look pretty rough after so getting out, not getting hit, getting on, be on scathed. Like, I'm pretty stoked about that, especially with how hard that guy hit. I blocked a couple of his shots off my shield. One of them in particular, he launched. I blocked off the shield and went away. All right. That's why this guy knocks people out. Okay. Let's, let's not screw around too much. I was amazed at the interview after where it was awesome because they had up the clip of your brother in the docs watching the fight. You could tell you were a little emotional, but what was great, there it is, a quack with quack, quack, they owned my oilers last year. So I'm owned by them and your brother's team. But I, I, I love the part at the end where you were saying, like, if I could have dreamed up my life, no barriers, like, this is where I'd be right now. So this has been a dream of yours for quite a long time, huh? Oh, yeah, man. I have been wanting to do this since the very first time I saw it on TV. But I remember the first time watching on TV at my buddy's house. And I'd kind of heard rumblings of like ultimate fighting and like UFC and stuff, just at school. And then I saw it on TV. And I was like, that's the coolest thing I've ever seen in my life. Like, you can do that. You can just learn how to get into a cage and beat the shit out of people. And it was like this on off switch of like, there's like a movie where, you know, the screen turns on and the character notices it. And like, everything else goes quiet and just like zooms in on the guy's face. Like that was the moment for me. It was like, this is what I'm going to do with my life. That's incredible. And it took me a little while to start martial arts and try to figure out how to at. Learn how to fight to get there. But it was just one track mind focused since I first saw it. Do you remember like which fight and who it was? There were two. I think I remember which one was first, but it was, um, V Torbell for versus Marvin Eastman when V Tor needs Marvin Eastman and gives him like a new eyebrow is the greatest cut I've ever seen. And I thought it was so cool. And, um, Nate Corey versus Lodinson Kate on the ultimate fighter finale for season one. And the cool thing is is when I fought Montreal V Torbell for was getting inducted into the hall of fame. And I was on my way down to weigh and like all dehydrated face, all skinny, delirious, right? And then he gets on the elevator and just like start going down and like, hey man, just so you know, like you're fight with Marvin Eastman's the reason I wanted to become a fighter. And I was like, it seemed like a really for him. He like really seemed to genuinely appreciate it because it's probably a cool first full circle moment for him, right? Getting inducted into the hall of fame. And then like, damn, my early fights not just made a kid start training, but like made a kid start training. And now he's fighting in one of the biggest fights on a UFC pay per view. Like, that's pretty sick. So it was, it was a cool moment for me. And then I went by knockout, which V Tor style. So that's sweet. Lots of minutes. How old were you when you got into it? Cause I know, you know, in the US, you either start boxing or wrestling or jujitsu and then you kind of bring all those together. Did you start with any of those first or you just kind of focused on being a UFC fighter and everything that involves it? In my mind, I was focused on being a UFC fighter, but I grew up in a kind of small quiet town. We had like a karate gym or a Taekwondo gym and you picked one of those two. I went to the Taekwondo gym and, you know, we did a bit of kickboxing. We did a bit of Jitsu, like most of the Jitsu that we did was I had a 10th planet Jitsu textbook. And my, the guy who on the gym had like a BJ pen textbook. And we just like flipped through and looked through stuff and tried it out. But, you know, so it was like compared to today's training. It was very rudimentary, but at the time like nobody knew anything. Like there wasn't a mixed martial arts gym. It was you go and do Jitsu at one gym or boxing at another or wrestling at another and you just get what you can and you just try to find a place to get fights. Like I was just scrounged around to get like amateur kickboxing fights and stuff in high school and Jiu Jitsu tournaments and I think honestly the lack of accessibility just made me want it more. Like maybe if I had had all the access right off the bat it would it almost would have like burnt me out. The fact that I had to like seek it out so aggressively was like made me obsessed. And with a nickname like the proper one, I can't imagine you were looking for street fights and stuff as a kid. You seem like such a nice guy. I mean, you always have a couple like scraps on the playground and stuff as a kid, but nothing really. I wasn't really getting in too many fights just trying to get trying to do this, trying to find kickboxing fights. Back when it was like by age category instead of by weight. So I was a run for my year. So I'm like, oh man, I'm like, I'm 14. I'm fighting other 14 year olds. That'll be cool. And then like get in there. You're like, holy crap. This kid's in more mess. This kid's got a biz nasty tattoo. When you say, when you say that, like you saw it and it was what you wanted to do, like to me, I see UFC first time I saw them like, these guys are fucking crazy. I was the exact opposite. And I also thought, I wonder what like their parents say, like you say your mom, for example, your dad, like, were they all into it or they're like, oh, okay, I guess we're going this road. Dude, they're like just getting all into it now. But like, they're very supportive now. But man, I wasn't allowed to watch UFC in the house when I was like 15, 16, like, I mean, it was like 16 finally. My parents were from my mom was like, all right, you can watch your like, you can have friends over and watch. But I used to, I used to like go to blockbuster HMV and like buy UFC DVDs and like hide them in my room and then wait until my parents went to bed and watch them. But it was born exactly man. He was hiding playboys. You were hiding not those Fox magazines and I'm under my bed. You fucking UFC guys. I used to go to the to the blockbuster and get like the ones where like it was like tank Abbott was in them. Uh, yeah, Ken Shammer, Randy Cotor. Yeah, like all the old school guys, you get in the VHS, man. Well, it was just ridiculous because like tank Abbott would come out and like obviously there wasn't training. Like he was probably just doing street, like bar fights because he had a barrel on him. Like it looked like he was nine months pregnant, just coming out and he would just start swinging and then by like round two or like late, like like five minutes into the fight. He was so gassed out. Now there, I don't think that there were weight classes back then. Yeah, which is crazy. And you're not like a traditional wrestler. So when you started getting into this like and started cutting weight for the first time, this must have, that must have been a pretty difficult experience to adjust to where you walk the streets at 170, right? Like right now. Yeah, like what do you walk the streets at? Yeah, 200. No, I'm, yeah, close to 200. I'm like, okay, so then you fight at 170 and yeah, you're cutting 30 pounds. You're going to see God on us. But he, you want to hear the way cuts? I mean, I started my first profile. I was 19. And again, I was a run. So I was not fully grown until I was like 21, 22. My first like weight, real weight cut experience was my buddy and coach like book me a fight. They're like, yeah, we got you a fight. I'm like, oh, cool. What's the weight? And they're like, it's a catchweight fight. We couldn't get anyone to fight your weight class. So you're fighting at 141 pounds. And I was like, okay, like how do I do that? They're like, don't worry, man. We'll help you through it. We'll walk you through the process. The walk you through the process was we'll walk you in the sauna. And we won't let you out. They was the most meat headed at the time. Nobody knew what was going on. But I'm looking back now, like knowing how to cut weight and everything. I'm like, dude, what the hell was that? Like literally coach standing. I can see the window of the sauna standing against the sauna door. Like you're not getting out. I'm like, well, now I want to like if you would just leave, I could stay in here. But now that I feel trapped, it's making it so much worse, dude. So just like, okay.
night before weigh-ins cut for like hours on the bike on the treadmill in the sauna. And then next day, we're getting there at like nine a.m. and weigh-ins are at five p.m. and we're just cutting weight all day. Like at how much can you lose in 24 hours, leading up, say that one. I think I lost the most I've ever lost. I think I lost like 17 pounds, 18 pounds, 17 pounds, something like that. It was a decent amount like, you know, and then you're getting it back in though, like you're fighting out 190, isn't it? No, I mean, I was, yeah, I was, I was a lot skinnier then, but I was, yeah, I put a lot back on like I've probably put at least 20 pounds back on that time, you know. Does your energy just spike up from all of a sudden getting like water and like salt and food in you or are you so exhausted from the process that you're like going into the fight with not full energy? Like how does your body feel like going from that much of a fluctuation or weight? Dude, the first sip is the greatest thing you've ever tasted in your life. And they have to tell you like we're lucky where the UFC gives you like rehydration kits and advice about it. They're like, hey, this first shaker bottle takes you 20 minutes and you're like, this is 20 minutes. I could drink this in 10 seconds and I'm like, yeah, you're going to shit your pants if you do though. So don't do that. Like your body can't handle that. Sip it so that yeah, but that first sip is like the best thing you've ever had in your life. I don't cut that crazy weight anymore. It's still never fun. Like by the time I hit 171, I'm like, all right, I'm glad I'm on weight now. This sucks, but I mean, I could probably cut a little bit more, but I'm at the point where two pounds isn't going to make the difference. You know, I mean, I'm like, I just want to go in, make the weight feel good, rehydrate to a comfortable weight and then get in there and do my thing. All right, this guy's got a couple pounds on me, like whatever, or if I have a couple pounds on him, that's not what's going to make the difference. Like the guy's not going to get in there 20 pounds heavier than me. And if they're somehow cutting ridiculous weight and putting it back on, like you said, there's a detriment to that. Like if your brain's that dehydrated, you're not taking punches the same way. If your organs are that dehydrated, you're not taking body shots the same way. Like I've gone in there with my legs feeling absolutely juiced before. If I when I fought in Montreal, I had a bad rehydration and I couldn't get, I couldn't keep food or water down until like the night of weigh-ins and going out to the fight, my legs felt so they felt like I had like a hard leg day the day before. And I was like getting my coach like slap my legs before I'm like, fuck man, I hope these things wake up when you get in there. But yeah, we worked out. Biz, by the way, I had never heard of Tank Abbott. So while he was chatting, I just, I mean, we've talked about, so we've talked about hockey DB puts pictures of guys in their careers and some of them are very funny. This is the greatest. He looks like Rick Foley. 100% he looks like Nick Foley. How did he get his shirt on over his neck? I don't know. I just had to bring out that picture. That is what that is. Mike, another thing I noticed is I think a couple times, you know, at the weigh-in, at the excitement before the fight, you go to shake the guy's hand and you're not getting a shake back. And it's probably, yeah, and you give it this one. Well, Bob was just pissed off. He saw a guy in a Ryan Whitney Jersey with the Mike in his hands. Did you notice that the guy had this guy's jersey on? Oh, did he really? That was dehydrated. Brandon Fitzgerald. Is that what he's wearing? We were sure who it was. If he worked for UFC or also, like, he had the mic on. Yeah. Oh, Brandon Fitzgerald. He's the man. He played at, at UMass or Boston, I can't remember. He was like a hockey player too. He's a beauty. Brandon Fitzgerald, the man, dude. This is my guy. Yeah, he's the man. This is my guy. I love that. But when guys don't give you the handshake pack, it's almost like you mother fuck right? Like you're just, all right, that just fires you up a little bit extra. Not even a little bit, man. I do, I genuinely don't care what happens. Like, it's, it's so funny to me. I'm like, dude, you can, you can shake my hand. We can be boys. Like, I'll hang out with you tonight. I don't care. And then tomorrow, I'm going to try to, like, break your leg and I'm going to try to knock you out. Or you can like, we can shove each other and get in each other's face. I'm going to do the exact same thing to you. Interesting. Doesn't matter. Like my second UFC fight, I fought a guy that I'm actually friends with. Like we trained, trained together before. We just got the call where like, I had a bunch of people say no or pull out. And he just got calling. He masters like, hey man, sorry. Like, you know, let's fight and then we'll have a beer after like, yeah, for sure, man, like all good. And I tried to do a lot. Yeah, I tried to try to put it on. I mean, I ended up submitting. I'm like, we didn't have eaten too many shots. I submitted them pretty early, but still friends. And then like I fought guys again, won't shake my hand to talk crazy trash about me and Canada and all this stuff. And I'm like, all right, man, like, I'm going to try to bounce your head off the canvas. You're, you're very patriotic. Like, obviously, you always have the flag out and stuff like that. So you have a lot of the American guys who are just like chirping you about Canada not stop. Sometimes, man, I went down to before that Montreal fight. It was right. I was there right when Trump did the whole 51st state thing. And a few of my friends are like, Oh, my God. So I believe like have the last five all been on Canadian soil last seven. Yeah. Okay. So is there a reason that you haven't gone down to the States? Is it a working visa situation? Or an I've citizenship. I'm US citizen as well. I was born in the States. So what's the backstory as to like why you've fought the last seven of Canada or just as it just worked out that way? It's just worked out that way. I think they've just taken my requests to fighting Canada. And, and you know, kind of obliged also, you know, put on some pretty good performances in Canada. And the crowd gets behind it. So I think they like kind of keeping me for that. I mean, there's been times where I'm like, could we squeak one in before the next one? But it just didn't make sense. And then there was another one where I got an offer, but I was injured. And I'm like, Okay, I want to be, you know, I'm hurt right now. I'm not taking this fight. I'll wait until the next Canadian car. I mean, I obviously like they make the call. If they're like, Hey, man, we want you to fight in Vegas or whatever, then that's their call. But dude, if I could just fight all the rest of my fights in Canada, I 100% would. It's so much better. I love it. Like, you know, not that it really changes anything that actually happens in the octagon, but the lead up feels so much better. The walk out feels so much bigger, knocking somebody out or submitting somebody. And then hearing the crowd afterwards is like, it's insane. And I'm like, this is the coolest thing in the world. After that last fight, Mark Goddard, the ref ripped me off of them. I just kind of spin around and land on my knees. And I'm just like face to face with Dana and Hunter Campbell and Sean Shelby, the guys that run the UFC. And Dana stands up and takes his headphones off. And I watch the video back of what did he say? And I like how to do the readers lips. And he just like stands up, takes his headphones off. And I'm like, holy fucking shit. And I'm just like, yeah, man, this is unreal. I like, went over and thanked them and talked to them for a second. And she's like, thanks for putting this on. Let me let me be the main event. Man, this is this is the coolest thing that's happened to me. Did you get the knockout bonus? Yeah. Okay. Okay. And Canadian dollars or US. No, no, US. That's when he uses his US citizenship. That's a cash in on the American twice year. Oh, it's the status that deposit is checks. But I was reading like it has you ranked between like eighth or 10th in your division now at this point. So clearly with that knockout on Boc, like now all of a sudden, there's even more noise. I noticed that your Instagram following went from like 100,000 to like 130. So obviously that popularity does help with like getting bigger, better matchups with more money on the table. Where does this put you now in the rankings? And when at what point could you potentially get a title fight? Yeah. So we've kind of got two ranking systems now, which is strange. Like you said, one has me at eight and one has me at 10, which means I only acknowledge the eight because it's higher. Yeah. So I just say that I'm ranked eight in the world. So I mean, it depends, right? That's a great question. I don't know. It depends on the next matchup. And it depends how much they want to push me. Like, do I fight a guy who's like six or seven next and win that and then fight one more and then get a title shot? Or do I jump right up to one of the like top ranked guys and win that fight and get a title shot off of that? I don't know. There's a lot of traffic in our division in that there are a couple of guys that have basically earned a title shot. So I don't know what the UFC's going to do, especially with a quick turnaround, most likely in January. Like I haven't gotten confirmation on that yet, but I assume I'm going to be fighting in January. That's what I want to do. I genuinely don't know who they're going to give me and I genuinely don't care. I'm at a point now where it's like every one of these guys ahead of me is tough. And I think the rankings are pretty fair as far as like the higher you get the tougher they get. And I'm just so confident I can beat any one of these guys. So like I don't care who it is. Just I want a guy ahead of me for January. When you when you watch the NHL, like when I played, you learn stuff from guys that you're watching or playing against. Is that similar? Like, you know, if you're not on a card, you're watching that night. Are you taking things that other fighters have, whether it's training with them or just watching? Oh, 100%. Yeah, there's things I've stolen from guys that I've fought and getting ready for the fight.
either store it for that fight or for the future, you know, I knocked the guy out, Charles Rackie, who's got like a really nice left hook and he throws it in a particular way, and I knocked him out with that punch. Just kind of watching him and I kind of changed things up a little bit on, I'm like, okay, that's actually kind of sick, like I'm gonna do that instead or try that out. But yeah, everyone that I fight, I try and steal some stuff from. And then just studying the game, because this is such a unique game, it's like, what's the best style for a man like, dude, depends on the day, like depends on the fight, you know, there's champs that are short and stocky, there's champs that are like long and fiery, there's like explosive guys, there's like slow twitch marauders who just walk you down for 25 minutes, it's like it doesn't, it's not that it doesn't matter, but like you can, the cool thing about MMA is you can make almost anything work, like there's a weird body types that end up becoming unbelievable, like Max Holloway holds the record for most punches, like strikes landed. And proportionally, he's got like a pretty small reach, he doesn't have like lead think it's like a guy who's got like stretch arms drawn, he's like, no, he's like kind of got short arms for his body and he's still, today's his guys up, I guess that's super cool, super cool sport to study, because you can just take whatever you want and just be like, dude, this is what I want to be, this is how I want to fight and this is my style. Yeah, I saw one of your knockouts, it was against a guy had dreadlocks and the guy that was explaining it, you know, got in a rabbit hole of your fights yesterday, but you like fake the leg kick and then the guy squared up and then you just blasted them, but they had shown another guy do that to the same guy, the fight before. So you could tell, like, because the video is important, like obviously during a fight, it's a lot of reading, react, I would imagine, but sometimes you are setting guys up for things like that in the middle of a fight. Oh, for sure, yeah, you're setting guys up for stuff the whole time, right? I mean, you know, you trying to find your openings and stick to what works, like there's a lot that I'm good at that I didn't use on Saturday night. Everyone was talking about the takedowns and the wrestling and how like grappling was probably going to be the path to victory. And maybe you could have gone there had, you know, it was a 25 minute fight, man, we were only like seven minutes in, we're just getting to know each other, we're just getting comfy, man, this isn't like a sprint. This is a marathon, right? It's a marathon full of sprints is what it is. So it's like, it's a lot. So there's a ton of stuff that I could have used, but I'm just trying to find the most efficient way to do it. I'm like, dude, I've got this guy's timing down, I'm timing him, I'm cracking him, like stick with this and then adjust if you need to, but yeah, man, there's so much that you can do in the sport. Yeah, like you want to set traps, obviously, and there's stuff that you have preset before the fight. Okay, I think this will work. I think this will work. And then sometimes you get in there and you're like, that's not working at all the way I expected to, like I have to be able to call an audible. And I think that's one of the biggest makers or indicators of somebody who's going to go somewhere in the sport because there are fights where you see high level guys clearly have something preplanned and prepared. And when it doesn't work and they don't adjust at all, you're like, oh man, you're you're going to get smoked. Like you're just doing what you prepared to do and you're not able to say, like, hey, that's not working. We're switching to this. I'm going to do this instead. I'm going to do something completely different. But it's also the balance. Do you have something preparing? It doesn't work at first. So you throw everything out the window and you just like brawl and panic and do something completely different. And then that breaks it's like you have to find the middle ground, right? It's a weird sport like that. It's almost like you got to be able to just kind of stay so calm in the moment, let alone there's fucking punches, zip in by your ear and kick and kicks, zip in by your your head all the time. What I was going to ask you was you talked about how you so you mentioned you started with Taekwondo. Like obviously as you progress and you see all these guys where they have like a striking coach, they have like a power coach like a grappling. Like could you bring us through like a training camp of like what type of classes that you have to go to in order to learn all these different these different techniques in order to prepare yourself for as you keep climbing because you just kind of talked about like I know the guys at the top don't scare you but some of these guys in some of these like when they're when they got in the ground, they think it's snap your ankle in two seconds. So what are you doing in order to prepare for all these skill sets? That's a good question. So this was a really cool training camp and that this was the first time we did it like this. I trained at multiple gyms, still where I have my striking coach, I have my wrestling coach, my Jiu-Jitsu coach and my MMA coach. So there's three different gyms. My wrestling coach and MMA coach are at one gym and then a Jiu-Jitsu coach at a different one and striking coach at a different one. And I've usually jump around between the gyms. The coaches all agree to like make the sacrifice and show up at my main MMA gym pretty much every day and just come to watch me. So there's like MMA team practices but my coaches primarily, I'd have like two to four of them just watching me being like we're doing this today. You're doing this. This was we were having troubles with this yesterday. Let's work on fixing that or that was working really well. Let's build off of it. Let's do this. Your opponent tends to do these things. Let's let's plan for this and get the feeling of it and counter it so that we're not adjusting in the fight for the first time. Like you're not just seeing those blitzes or something the way that he charges forward. You're not seeing that for the first time on fight. So the difference for me like outside of training camp and in training camp. I train more volume. I train more outside of camp. So I have more volume. So I do more sessions more like longer rounds pretty much more like playful but like lots of grappling, lots of Jiu-Jitsu, lots of sparring and then lots of like cardio and conditioning outside of training. But it's like more playful. I'm like, okay, let me try and learn this new thing. Let me try and add something to my game. When we were like the final six weeks, it was less volume but the intensity was through the fucking roof. Like that was the hardest I've ever trained for a fight. And then also all the coaches are there every day. Instead of me going to a bunch of different gyms and them all trying to push me like crazy and me just getting burnt out. They're like, okay, Mike has gone crazy the last two days. Let's really ease off of it today and then we'll spark in tomorrow and then we'll you know, do the wrestling the day after like, okay, let's everyone is more coordinated. Every session was MMA based as well where it wasn't like the, okay, we're going to do Jiu-Jitsu today or wrestling or whatever is like we'd have focuses like it's a more grappling MMA session but it's MMA. If we, you know, if you break from the wrestling, we're right back to striking like shadow's bar for a bit and then back to the wrestling. Like keep it as close to what we can do or keep it as close to what we're going to do as possible while trying our best to keep it safe because this is a weird sport where it's not like other sports where you can just play the game and then go and do the game because if you do a full-out MMA fight every day getting ready for your fight, you're going to die. You can't have an actual full MMA fight every day for six weeks. You do in the hospital after a week. It kind of shows though that you with an individual sport, it's still a lot of the, it's a team that puts it all together for you and I think people look at it as a one-on-one in the cage. It's like, dude, I got all these different coaches, I get guys I spar with. So it matters like the team around you. Yeah, man. And how they work together as well is like, yeah, like they're not pulling you in different directions and they have one game plan for you. Yeah, and it's all, yeah, it's all, there's no ego, right? It's all like, okay, how can we get Mikey ready for this? Like, not, I want to be the star of the show and I want to, like, everyone's works really well together. And then I've got a great team as far as training partners and other fighters at the gym that are just beauties. Like, I've always loved the like, hang with the boys in the locker room type thing. Like, that's always been important to me. And I still get to have that with fighting. You know, like, those are still my good buddies and like, that's my social time as well. Like, I go and work my ass off, but I also get to hang out with the boys at the gym every day. So yeah, that's sick. Were you, were you ever one of those guys that were brought in to help another guy train for a fight? Because you hear stories of guys getting their break from, you know, being coming in training with a guy and then he puts on a good show. Well, and we got, we got word that you do help coach some guys. I coached for a long time. I took like three years off competing in MMA. Actually, it was almost four years off competing in MMA and was a full time coach. I didn't want to fight anymore from like 26 to 29 almost or something like that. Honestly, like, I was so one track focused since I was like 12 or 13 when I first saw it on TV. And that was like what I did. I didn't go out really. I didn't like hang out with friends a whole lot. I just trained and I think I just kind of burnt myself out. And you know, you just like it kind of like got away from me for a little bit where I just was like, you know, and I just I'm not excited by the idea of fighting right now is about to like I was looking for a fight. And I'm like, okay, if I win this, then maybe I go to the UFC and I got to the point where I was like, I don't even want to go to the UFC right now. So I just coached for a little bit, like luckily, you're a favorite off your job coaching on the team and a bunch of guys wanted to work with me down at Alfa Malin Sacramento. And so I got to stay and then I was at the gym all day every day. It was awesome. I was like competing in Jitsu and first time ever like lifting weights and stuff. And just like focused on grappling a lot more. And then it kind of came back that fire while I was like at these fights. And I'd spent so much time just like focused on the the strategic and technical sides of them and that it leveled me up like crazy. And when I came back, I won one fight and then got a shawling contender.
series. Well, so that's how you're able to kind of categorize all this stuff. I would imagine that that's a big portion of the challenge is like just figuring out mapping out that game plan and sticking to it leading into these fights. That's that's pretty cool, man. That's that's awesome. Yeah, you found the fire again. There was one other question before we talked about the coaching. I can't remember what it was, but yeah, all about guys coming in the train. Were you one of those guys that went in and you basically had a got beat up? Well, that was one of the times when I was down at alpha male. I was sparring with the guy and got like a little cut on my eye. I sparring Josh Emmett, who's like one of the top feather weights in the world. He's a beast, absolute nail gun. Sparring with him got clashed heads and got a cut and then Chad Mendes, who fought for a bunch of UFC world titles, came up to me after he said, "came in, do you want a sparring tomorrow?" I'm like, "I don't know. I have a cut." He's like, "Okay, next camp, next camp." I'm like, "Why what's going on? You get a fight?" He's like, "Well, yeah. Jose Aldo just heard his ribs, so he's out of the corner, McGregor fight. So I'm in, I'm fighting McGregor in two weeks, whatever." I'll figure it out. I'll tape it. I'll glue it. So I just went and got new skin and glued it and then put a bunch of gasoline over it. I'm like, "Yeah, all sparring. I don't care that I'm cut. I don't care if it opens up. I want to help you get ready for McGregor. So gave him a bunch of rounds. I wasn't good at self-pot at the time, but I was going to be like, "You know, they're like, it's book spawn, look, when you fucking push you, let's go, just like talking to him while I'm gone." This dude's trying to take my head off. I'm like, "Dude, I should shut up right now." That was kind of going to be one of my questions. There's a lot of like ego and testosterone in this sport. What are some of the wildest things that you've witnessed behind the scenes, whether it's like when you've gone to one of these UFC fights, maybe guys are somehow breaking out and fighting the hallway or guys maybe bitching with Dana, both purses and what they're making. What's it like behind the scenes at UFC and maybe some of the stuff that we're not seeing? Honestly, I feel like MMA for the most part, at least where I've trained is a really good douchebag filter. Where to get good at this, you have to, you're getting your ass kicked for a while. You're getting jumped into MMA. And if you're like a guy who's, if you're a douche and you're like, "think you're the man and you're a bully and you're this and that," and then some scrawny, dorky looking dude who's just been doing MMA for five years, ties you in a knot, again and again and again. You either quit or you chill out for the most part. Like, there's still egos in this and there's still guys that talk, but I'd say for the most part, most of the guys in the sport are good people. It usually, if they are still kind of doucheers, it usually chills out. I had a buddy who I love him now. We're actually like really good friends, but I stayed with him for a while at when I first moved down to AlfaMail. He like housed guys and like, we almost fought in his house. I was like, dude, what is wrong with this guy? He was just an absolute spaz. And then he kind of chilled out eventually. He had like a big health scare and who's like, "I've been kind of an asshole, haven't I?" I'm like, "Yeah, man. No kidding. Yeah, you sucked." And he's like, "All right. I'm going to chill out. Now he's like the biggest sweetheart." I saw it. So leading up to your fight, your brother Jeff fights Adam Clapgaw and Calgary who's a big dude. And your brother, like, he makes it as an NHL regular last year, 29, was the captain of Cornell, which is a legendary program. Grinds it out in the minors, has some big years. One, how cool is it for you to see him reach the NHL, reach his goal? And two, did you ever play hockey? Dude, it's so cool watching him play, live his dreams and especially because it wasn't like he was, you know, a kid at whatever, a kid that got drafted and you're like, okay, he's definitely going to the show, right? Like he was always sick. Like he said, captain of Cornell, great opportunity there. COVID hit during their like championship run. They were they were number one in the country that year. Yeah, man. So it was like that was a huge hit. It's like, okay, you're captain of Cornell for the best team in the league right now. That could be big opportunities. So that was a big hit, but he's just grinded away and just one of those guys who just isn't, doesn't shy away from hard work. He's just like a steam engine man. He just keeps working. And so, yeah, super cool to see him make it and make it full time now. But yeah, I always, my first school was to be in the NHL. I loved playing hockey, but I was, I was like a third, fourth line A E super star man. I was trash. I sucked at hockey. I just couldn't get it, man. No skill. No skater. Oh, I can skate. Okay. I just do. So I just didn't get it, man. I did not get like where any, I'm like, what do you mean it's not just about me? What are you talking about? Like I can't just like, I can't just take the puck and deep everybody out and like go down school. Like fighting is sooner they started fighting. I'm sure I was not as good as I thought I was, but it always got like it came to me. I'm like, yeah, I get this. This makes sense to me hockey. I was just like, why am I not constantly scoring goals? I don't get this. I saw an interview that you said, you know, kind of like what was saying, your brother had fought that week to kind of fire you up for that fight. Was that something you guys talked about? Because the legendary story with the Begotian brothers, one was in a Navy seal at the time and his commanding officer said, if your brother gets into a fight, then you guys can have a day off and he ended up getting into a fight. So the guys in the Navy sales got the day off. So I was wondering if you guys had talked about it. We didn't talk about it before, but I sent them, we kind of faced time. I sent it on message after and just was like, Hey, man, I know you're trying to fire the team up by fighting, but I feel like you're trying to fire me up to and you just kind of like, give me the link back, you know, you're the man, buddy, let's go. Can he pick about the biggest guy you could find to my brother's six, four, two, ten, two, twelve. And I'm watching this fight. I'm like, this guy's just to work huge. This guy's way bigger than you. That's crazy. This guy's a monster. He kind of went for like a leg takedown at one point, dude. Did you see it? Yeah. Yeah, he's not doing the fucking roundhouse kicks. Well, with the liaison, I was going to ask you as a Canadian, like, you know, I'm not the most hardcore UFC guy, but during JSP's era, I was always dialed in. Like, you know, he, he kind of like, like as far as Canadians, like he's the goat. And I believe at his weight class, he might even be one of the goats, right? Or is the best, well, it's my way class. He's the best way to read ever. Ever. Yeah. Right hands down hand. Like no, obviously nothing no close second. So is, is he someone that you look up to and have you had an opportunity to like get the train with him and just converse and kind of pick his brain, like looking up to him and being a legend that he is? Oh, yeah, man, I had like, I met him when I was in high school and got an autograph from. I had that like poster on my wall until I was like throughout college. Like I always had that on my wall. I've been such a huge fan of the guy. The UFC put us in touch, gave each other, gave us each other's phone numbers and he FaceTime me, you know, one time and we chatted for a bit and you know, shoot texts every once in a while and stuff. But we filmed a commercial for skilled trades college like a year ago. And so I got to hang out with him for the day. I'm like, all right, man, I'm like sitting beside him at lunch. I'm picking this guy's brain as much as I can. I'm like, come on, just give me some little nuggets of gold here, man, just and then also just getting the, getting the hang out with him. Like he's the man. Yeah, he's like super down earth. He doesn't seem like he's the greatest of all time. He's just like a dude hanging out. So yeah, super cool getting the hang out with him. That's awesome. I saw, what is his name? Ariel Henne. He's like the number one podcaster for the UFC, right? What is it? Ariel Helwani, yeah. Yeah. So I always see a lot of you guys like, you're going on there. There's great quotes to come out of there. And the one I saw from you was, I think I'm the best well to wait in the world. I want to fight Michael Morales next. Is that guy ranked number one? Or is he just above you in a way? Well, that's definitely not a quote because I didn't call anyone out. So that's kind of not that. Yeah. This, I think I'm the best well to wait in the world. I want to fight against Michael Morales next. Mike more via the Ariel Helwani show. I said, I'm the best. Well, I said, I think I'm the best well to eat in the world and I'm ready to prove it or something like that. He's yeah, which you fucking. You're gonna have that mentality. Didn't you say I'm not one to call guys out in that? I've never, I've never called anyone. I'm not going to. So I'm not starting with it there. Okay. I think I think that's just the classic, like social media, like, yeah, it'd be a lot cooler if you said that. I'll just say he don't. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But that enough there, you know, well, it's not what you said. It's what people say you said. You you mentioned like it, which is crazy that you like, there's there's no fear component. Like you look at everybody. How do you? And you're like, I'm not scared. I would fight that guy at the drop of a dime. Oh, I didn't say there's no fear. Oh, okay, I didn't say there's no fear. So, so, so you get that feeling then, buddy, you just got to fight with it. You got to rock with it. It's all good, man. You got to figure out how to put a leash on that wolf and let her go when she's ready to go. But that's the tough part about Emma is you see guys and that don't have the control of it. You see guys that are killers in the gym and just don't know how to deal with fight day emotions. They don't know how to deal with being in front of a crowd. They don't know how to deal with the expectations. They don't know how to deal with, you know, media talking about them and letting people down and all these things. It's like, you don't just like nobody's immune to it. It's just you have to figure out how to continue to fight with it and get the most out of yourself. Like I am, I am, I am thankfully one of those guys who when I get in front of a big crowd of people, I'm like, it's go time. Baby, I'm ready to go. I don't shy away from that. If anything, I rise when that happens and that's a good feeling to know I can fall back on. Outside of the
other side of that where you just mentioned like do you like speak with like a sports psychologist or anything anybody else in order to kind of hone everything that you just mentioned there? Oh yeah yeah I've been working on my mental coach Danny Patterson for 13 years yeah he's been working he works with a bunch NHL players he works with a bunch of UFC fighters he works with a ton of people I think of it like any other skill man like you you you need to learn how to grapple how to strike how to you know you need you to do conditioning or strength training or whatever it's like you need to work on your minds too right because you don't want that to be the weak length right you don't want that to be the the chink in the armor that's it's important to understand yourself and understand what you need I'm like I'm not the guy who like listens to David Goggins videos on the way out to the arena you know what it means like that's just not who I am we get some guys they need that some guys need need like you know pump up music and this and I'm like I'm not that guy man I just need to get in my zone and just hang out there you mentioned that no fear going into a fight and I always wondered this with the UFC and even boxing like what is your wife think during these fights like that's got to be a mental battle for her no she's she's a soldier man she does not like it it's it's rough I remember my UFC debut she stayed with me in my hotel room for the night before the fight just like all right like I'm we but I'm comfortable with that it'd be nice to have you there wait we both wake up fight morning she's like okay how you feel and I'm like I'm buzzing a little bit I go you know they're they're they're fluttering around in there but I'm I'm good to go like I'll be all right just now it's the waiting game I'm gonna sit around and wait for 10 hours basically she's like oh wait cool I'm just gonna run to the bathroom and we're in a hotel room like the bathroom walls or paper thin right so she goes to the bathroom she's like I'll just be out that goes the bathroom I just hear it in the bathroom she's just like you can she's so nervous she comes out of the bathroom I'm like you get you good she's like we I'm good you need anything I'm like I could hear everything in there she's like oh my god I didn't want to freaking open I'm so scared I'm so nervous that I'm like I'm like honestly I'm not there right now so I feel even a little bit better because I'm like well you're more scared than I like you're more nervous than I am so all right like at least there's there's there's further to go than where I am right now so it was it was kind of funny but we learned but not to have her stay with me anymore for four fights who currently has the belt in earlier in the week I'll recover from the chicklets top another oh yeah all right all we were fine like we didn't need to recover two weeks ago we didn't bring up earlier um Bruins looked great but Rontan and just running their show the other night just uh uh uh you lost to Rontan yeah tough game tough loss uh swimming played out of his mind it you know I think you know the last game of a trip I think they got one
but eight out of nine possible points out or whatever it was. Yeah, a successful trip. It would have been great to get that W. I thought that penalty and overtime was a shit call. I was a stick check from Zaka. Usually when they break the stick, they call it but I thought that was a real chinsie call to make at that point in the game ended up being the difference. Yeah, right and ran around the game by whatever they're coming home. Couple of things at the present tonight. Celebrities in this weekend. So yeah, I'm feeling great about the B's man. Like I said, last time and they just three up, who's the Dean of two. That's a sweet deal. Three years, 11.9 million. They got him for under four million. I love this kid's game. I love his versatility up down the line up. Nice speed and plus what they picked him up for. I'm in a shoulder. It feels like Minnesota to give up on him early show. Yeah, good, good time to be a B's fan right now. I think they're a third overall in the league with a couple games to hand on teams above them. So yeah, good time to be a B's fan. I'm starting to gain a soft spot for him, R.A. So what happens come the weekend when Celebrities in town? Do you wear your shark's jersey to the game? Bring it for sure. I don't know if I was a freshman in college, maybe it might not be his snug. I mean, it fits, but it's a little form fitting. And you know, if it was, I mean, I appreciate having it, but I don't know if I'd wear it 'cause it's a little snug. I'm gonna put that frame, but yeah. And I typically don't wear dreams of jerseys I have 'cause you know, I like to keep him good shape. I don't want to spill a beer. If I get mustard with a pretzel, forget about it. It's an official meal. Once I get mustard on, shit. So speaking of beer, I was dying laughing. I saw a clip of you coaching the 617 locals and remembering back to you saying, how much you have the coaching bug itch and stuff. And the clip is you with a beer on the bench just in there, drinking the beer while coaching. Oh, I see, there might be an open spot in Columbus soon here. And the only reason he legit like when they, all the girls got there, they were getting ready. They all had a bruski in front of him. So as a coach, I felt like, you know, they had set the tone. I'd been a fall, fall up with them. Oh, it's speaking to 617 locals. Frankie Frile, the girl played for us. Her brother, Sally's in the World Series. So a checklist man, he's, he sent me a DM the other day. The kid in the Brewers, he's a big checklist fan. He was psyched at, I coached the sister in the gal. So he wanted to make sure that checklaces with the brew crew for this world series. I told him, I'm all over the brew crew. Did you see the positive forever ticket that they sold years ago? Yeah. Yeah, did you see this? Which one? The Brewers had sold, I don't know what year this was, but they were bad. And they sold a thousand dollar forever ticket where you buy it and then you pick any game ever and you're going to all these people that bought it. They're obviously now in the World Series for the first time in 40 years. And I think there's a beef going on where I don't know, I think they're getting the timeless ticket. It was called, it was called, it was 2015. People paid a thousand bucks. And now I think they're being put up in the nosebleed. Some of them standing room. Okay, so are these season, if you're a season ticket holder, if you bought that, you should get your fucking normal seat that you buy for regular season. Like that should be the stipulation. If you're just some regular fan who paid it, I mean, they, I mean, it was like at the time, like, what are they supposed to do? Where are they supposed to put them? Yeah, I know you gotta keep wrote that. Yeah, they should have thought about that. Well, they're getting a seat in the building. No, they're getting like standing room only they're saying. I think it might have just been for non-season ticket holders. Because if you got season tickets, you, you know, you get first dibs on buying tickets. So, but then it was, I know, but I'm saying, but I'm, but you, I think the thing is, is like you pay a thousand dollars for a ticket. The whole premise of this is like legit. If they make the World Series, you got the golden ticket. Like, that's more of a good seat at least a good seat. Yeah, I would say that if you, even if it's standing room only, they got to deck these people out with like gear and like hook them up, get them some sign baseball bats. But like, what, what would a brewer world series ticket go for? I mean, at least a thousand, I bet right now at home. Yeah, they haven't been in the World Series since 1982. And yeah, there was a guy or a guy in his brother. They were, they weren't happy because they didn't like the seats. But like, I, you know, I looked into it and it's the best available seats out of what seats that will be available. Oh, that was in the fine print. Huh? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Okay. So that doesn't mean like best available in the park because you got to figure MLB has like, like, well, you know, season ticket holders obviously, but that's majorly baseball. It usually could close most of the ticket stock. So like, you know, the guy was like, oh, we, you know, they thought they were going to be like the box seats. I'm like, bro, they promised your World Series ticket. You got a World Series ticket again, based on the availability of that particular lot of tickets. So I don't know. And also kind of a dumb fucking purchase in 2015. A thousand bucks is probably what $2,000. Now you could have gotten a really good seat for two crants. So kind of a bat, kind of a bad investment. How many people bought these tickets? How many people are trying to like cash in on it? I'm not sure, but, but there was enough people, I guess, that belly ache about it where the brewers actually come out and said, yeah, we're sorry for like the awful didn't say cluster fuck, but there was sorry for a cluster fuck and I never thought we'd be in the World Series again. And, and they're given, and no, they're going to, they're going to like basically extend it for people so they'll, they'll be able to get a ticket for a way to down the line. I don't know if it's a playoff specific thing, but yeah, because they got a little heat P.I. So are we not in agreement? That's kind of a bad investment because you could have just like kept that money and then like bought your own World Series ticket. Like, I bet you could buy a ticket to get in the building for under a grand, no, and better see. Oh, yeah, I don't know. I mean, she looked it up last part about the oilers tickets, which a few oilers tickets, the Emmy that we were like lying about the numbers. And G, like, no, we're not there. We're $70. He has the rubles. G, can we look at what the cheapest world series ticket is right now? The best, the best deal. I see, oh, I see set a game. No, that's, that's tropical Hannah. I'm seeing two thousand 45 boxes, the cheapest for game two right now. I mean, good investment, but not though, because if you kept that that $1,000 then is probably worth to see what a thousand dollars in 2015 is worth. Yeah, I don't think it doubles in 10 years. I was in gas in my $1,000 inflation has been humming. Yeah, yeah, humming. That's usually a good thing about it. Inflation $1,421. Oh, I just keep the money and buy your fucking own ticket. Like, come on here. What are we doing? Was it just for one game? Yeah, they might be these fans might have thought they'd be in the world series in like 40 years. And then it would be a great investment. I would then keep the ticket. I would say I'm not using it for this world series. No, I'll put it in my will. Well, some teams that I had, they have a very first world series. The Tampa's never won, when Milwaukee's never won, when either so. And interesting games, three and four down at the top. The top holds a very interesting NHL record. Most people probably would would never guess the trivia. Again, the drop has the NHL record for the largest playoff crowd ever in NHL history. Because the Tampa, the lightning actually played that in the drop for like one or two seasons. It's a crazy place to play hockey and they made the playoff. They played the flyers. They've every time in the playoff show. They got a banner in their biggest playoff crowd ever. So I know a few people have churped me recently about, oh, like Biz just discovered, discovered the S&P 500 like, okay, first of all, it's funny. But if you put that thousand in 2015 in the S&P, you'd have $4,618. There you go. Goodbye seasons. The fucking. We got it. We got it. So you're all over the Brewers fans, you're on, yeah, you're your Brewers fans, your front office stand. I think it's a ridiculous thing that like, but I'm happy they did it because now we get to talk about it. I want to know the most ridiculous things that sports organizations and fans have done slash bought over the years. What about like the American Airlines guy who spent like a hundred grand and flew everywhere? But now he like uses all the miles. The guy probably lives for free. He bought a lifetime first class ticket on any flight and I think they said it was worth. He ended up making like 800 grand on that. How much he was doing it. I think he spent 500 grand on it, didn't he? No, 100 grand, I thought even 500 grand, like if you fly once a week, that year, that's 500 grand. Yeah. I also think that if you look back at dumb decisions teams made, they hand in all bats at baseball games at one point in time doing bat night, that probably wasn't a great idea. Good to have in the car though. Everyone had it in their car. So that, that all time ticket for the flights for first class was 250 grand. Nowadays, like I said, if you flew a whole year once a week, first class, like first, it's expensive with you. Yeah. Oh yeah. They launched that 1981. That was a dumb one. Are you saying for like, I'm actually going to a Dodgers game and they're giving all bats you're saying, like that's like, that's I'm thinking the Bronx, I'm thinking the Yankee Stadium at one point probably gave like bats away bat night and, and you know, you're on the subway home and you see a guy with his head beaten and by Yankee's mini bat, they handed out. And you're like, I don't know if they should have done that. Uh, the, the dog night, which they still do is kind of crazy into one dog shit. And everyone did the funniest thing that they do during the bark at the park is they'll play the ring doorbell noise, like, and all the dogs just start fucking losing it. It's the funniest thing of all time. God I want to do it at a gargol game now if a dog comes
comes on the TV at our house, Yoshi full sprint from wherever he is. If he's looking at the TV and jumps up pause on the TV in his barking, like, I thought it might end after like the puppy stage like, no, he just turned six. Yeah, well, you know, he just turned five. So he's, he's whatever, 32 years, 35 years old. And he's, he's slamming the TV with his paws barking like a madman at any, any, any animal on TV, horse, bunny rabbit, doesn't matter. I get yelled at on Twitter from Colorado avalanche fans because they have the late game. And when they, we talk about Nate dog and I bark, the dogs at home will start barking. Yeah. Yeah. They did. You just woke up my whole household because you're barking like Nate McKinnon. I like the videos. Like when, when dogs, they like watching the movie and you, you wonder how if they see it the way we see it, but like, they'll work it intently focused. There's one like that fan who shows up and the dog shits his pants and he runs behind the couch because he's scared of dog heads pants on. What. Wow. Oh, I didn't like that joke. I thought it was pretty good. Look me a second. You rattle that that your face and you did you want, want, want like that? You did not like that. No, I was, that was enough. Dad joke just normal. My head for a second. But because I think the best deal I ever got when serious satellite radio first came out. I want to say 2005. It actually come out a year before Stern joined and they off they had a deal was $500 for a lifetime membership. You would never get a bill and I jumped right on it and they shut it down after like three days because they sold so many of them. They would take it a bath on it. So I paid $500 like 21 years ago for my serious satellite. Never get a bill. Still doesn't have a car to play this serious satellite. Leo's butt. That's a good deal. That's a good deal. That's a great deal. I mean, one more people paying a year now for serious. Probably 200. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's good. Good shit. Uh, just mentioned Tampa. We got to go back to them. How about coach? Uh, he had a free point night in Vegas the other night. He's a tied for first place. Tampa's all time points. Branch ice history. It's got 1137 and just eight hundred and 88 games. Tied with Stamco's. Stamco's got 1137 and a thousand 82 games. So 194 fuel games. That's pretty, pretty impressive stuff for a future Hall of Fam. Fucking rights. Yeah. And playoffs. Coach. Fifty four goals. 123 assists. 177 points and 159 games. Stamco's got 101 points and 128 games. So coach. I mean, I pretty much a slim dunk Hall of Famer at this point, but all the time greatest lightning player. Is that what you're saying? Yeah. Oh, absolutely. Uh, another cool highlight. Uh, Cole. Well, first two goals for the flies didn't with his dad there and up the first one. He looked just like his dad when he played, I mean, what ranges, Philly, the Bruins, out in front of the net, just packing, you know, packing his cock as a front getting a nice little goal. So nice to see that one. All right. Uh, G when he was muted, he just sent it over for bad ideas 10 cent beer night in 1971 with the then Cleveland Indians 60,000 beers were purchased. Three of the bases got stolen 19 streakers. There is only three. And there's, there's four bases. There's four. No, it's a fucking plate. Not a base. Fair enough. 50 cops were injured as well. So I think the 10 cent beer night went, went away after that one and cannibal son. He looks great. I was looking up his, you know, like, uh, elite prospects thing played in the USHL, Notre Dame, crushed it there. He's not that old. Usually you see, you know, some of these guys played three or junior, three years of college. He, I think he just turned 22 this, this summer. So nice player. They got there. Biz. Remember they used to have a dollar beer, dollar hot dog night in Arizona. Oh, every time they'd have it, I'd get a phone call for my oncarrying cake game. I'm coming out next week, cheaper to meet a fly out there, catch a game, have a couple beers and a dog, then to go down to the Bruins game. I'm like, all right. So should fly in full that game beauty. Boys, when, when I got there in my first year, if we wanted COD tickets, they charged us $5 a ticket. Yeah, yeah, that's right. I would have every cocktail server and Scottsdale at every fucking game. Yeah, sure. Come on down. Come on. Five. I have a fucking 20 people there. It cost me a hundred bucks. That's a, that's crazy. And that was for, like, if Crossbees in town, same thing. No, usually like Tuesday versus, oh, actually, no, for the tickets, yes. For the first year or two, every year I was there, it went up five bucks. So year two, they went 10, which like, fuck, okay. And I think by like year two or three, by the time when we started having marquee games, then they, like, when Detroit, Chicago, yeah, obviously Pittsburgh, but for my first year or two, it was still five bucks. So it was, it was pretty wild. So I'm sorry. I already go ahead. That's right. I keep jump on that same thing. I remember when Pedro was pitching for the socks, it was, it was literally cheaper to fly to Tampa Bay and get tickets to see him down there than it was to go over a family and buy a ticket. Like, you know, you know, round trip was probably 200 bucks, ticket might have been 20 bucks, but it was cheap. Imagine you spent a thousand dollars on a forever ticket to the coyotes in 2015. Yeah. Who lost nine hundred and ninety five bucks. Show up in Utah. You're like fuck it. He's well-buyered and F.E. Pete, I saw you post on Instagram the other day about people in public when they got their speaker on and just annoying everybody. Know what? I, that was last time I flew when the dude was doing it right in the airport. He was just annoying everybody. What I, I had my headphones on. I just started singing out loud, whatever music I was listening to because he was right next to me. Just to annoy him because like, yeah, he was bugging everybody there. So yeah, he doesn't want my fucking awful second place, but that's a little tip player. That's a good one. Shit. And they also had a, uh, speaking of like baseball thing, they had disco demolition night. It was, uh, at, uh, whatever the white socks just played, Kamiski, and then everybody brought records and they like, they like burned them on the field, but they ended up being a riot and shit. It was, it was out of control. I think they actually can't like postpone the game or cancel it like halfway through. Yeah. It was like this. This is when disco has been around. It was sort of the anti disco. Forever going on. So like, yeah, a bunch of drunk fucking people started eating on disco. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It was like the death of disco game or something, right? I think it was like a 30 for 30 type thing. Yeah. Disco demolition night. It was, yeah. Yeah. Um, well, yeah. I just want to mention too. I ought to jump in. Three of his four wins or five shutouts already to stop the year, nine, four, five, eight, seven, one, one, three, uh, goals against great stuff in him after, you know, tough little playoffs last year. Give him a little shout out. Uh, what else? That's all we got to mention, um, Rangers legend run, DuGay passed away this morning. Uh, obviously you want to send out deepest condolences and sympathize to his friend and his family. I know. Obviously the Rangers family. He was an absolute legend. Uh, disco run. They used to call him. Um, yeah. They got pitches, um, the dancer would share it like studio 50 flow and he played for them way back in a day. Yo, I, I, I would unfortunately, we'd never got him a show, but I chatted with him, you know, quite a bit over the years, free of DM and stuff. It seemed like a real nice guy. Yeah, he's been dating Sarah Palinful last couple of years as well. I saw that in 81 82 season, I think he had 40 goals with the Rangers and like a very good looking guy with 40 goals for the New York Rangers in 1981, talk about a fun season. That guy must have just been living it up in that city and he did stay like a Rangers legend. He was always around. Oh, yeah. I think he was doing the broadcast a little bit as well. Yeah. He was doing like the, you know, alumni, sweets, doing all he was just a very, you know, one of those guys, if you knew you were coming to a Rangers game, you were probably going to run into him. He'd always have his like Robert Graham shirt on. You remember those shirt with like the flowers on, always looked unbelievable. Super nice guy. One of the first guys I met when I went to New York, he after the game, he came down, introduced himself and just a super, super nice guy, terrible, I mean, young too, right? What is it? I know. He's still like the mazer. So sad. So sad. How old was the array? 69 years old. Yeah. Yeah. Absolute legend with that. The long, the long blonde. Yeah. Flowing all over the place. Yeah. 13th overall pickback in 77 and I also just want to look like it's from the subject. I want to send my mic on Dolan. There's a big family in Charleston. The Concert Islands. They're big hockey history. The dad used to be the stick guy for the bronze. My front pad, his daughter Courtney passed away over a couple of days ago, 40 years old, way too young, tragic. So yeah, I just want to, well, I got the whole inhale. I'm like, and Dolan's just a pad carrying a young pad, my boy Ryan, it's just a sad story. So I want to mention that. But in the same vein, my buddy Ryan, he just got on every fight apartment and my cousin combed it on Boston, Boston police and my buddy, no, Gallagher, a couple of younger, younger friends of mine just got a couple good, good jobs. Those are the jobs I used to try to chase back on the day. So little positivity, a couple of guys getting on some good jobs here. So I just want to give those boys a shout out, something to watch on Netflix, the normal documentary. That'll give you a lot. Dude, I fucking watch that guy's clips relentlessly. So good. He is the funniest human. I think that I think he might be the funniest human ever, ever. If you go online, did you ever watch his clips online with amazing, they're unreal. And I watched the documentary, all right, it's crazy to see. It's like early on where he talks about when you crush a set as a standup comedian, you feel like the best comic in the world and then when you bomb, you feel like the worst and they showed a quick clip of him, like kind of bombing and it's so weird.
He's like, I guess you guys didn't like that one or something, something like that. But his sarcasm and the way he would deliver jokes like, oh my God. I didn't know he was Canadian either. Yeah. Yeah. He was like, one of a kind guy. He don't really did his style and he, like some guys like bomb they go and they bomb that's terrible. But he didn't kill it. He was like, he almost like, they said what do you want? Yeah. He would like, after he bombed, he'd stand by the exit and like would greet all the people at the show like, say goodnight to them after you bomb. Absolutely hilarious. All right. What's the story? Cause I, I, I mean, I started watching the document, I haven't finished it. He was fired as the news guy from Saturday night live, from the update, whatever. What, what, why was that? He was this the craziest reason to get fired. He made too many jokes about OJ Simpson, the famous double murderer because OJ was best friends with Don Omar who ran NBC at the time and like they was telling him like, you know, stop doing it. And like, oh, I just made him do it more. And like, you know, and they were just right to the point he was, he's like, oh, OJ Simpson was found not guilty, which means murder is now illegal and telephone and you're like, he would just make these jokes all the time and they literally lost his job because of that guy fucking. And I guess the thought, oh my god, he's dead now, but I guess he's like, set the lawn Michaels and I'm like, you're like, only two people who don't think you think he did it. It's like, well, how much? And then I'll feel like, Oh, Jim, what drip all over him, bro, I know he's a boy. But, so yeah, I get shit in there. And then they kind of went, Shane Gillist style and brought him back in his first monologue. He just was like, he base, he said how bad the show is like in front of like everybody. He doesn't, he didn't give a fuck, man. Zero. You have a fuck. You ever see the movie dirty work, all right? Oh, yeah. I don't know if he liked it, he just liked the smell of it. Yeah. Yeah. He's doing good. Is he doing better? Oh my goodness. He's like, his snow is snow. Yeah. Yeah. I think he did coke for like 20 years straight, right? A little bit. A little bit. I don't know if he liked it. He just liked the smell of it. Yeah. Yeah. I think he's a real line. All of it. When no one did the SPs tool, that was another classic one. Yeah. Just like everybody. They let him do the SPs. Yeah. Yeah. People were pissed off. Aren't they like some of the people in the crowd? Yeah. He makes an O.J. joke. He's like, oh, Charles Woodson, the first defenseman on a Heisman. Dirt fence of play on a Heisman. And at all, however many years, he's like, you'll be able to keep that forever as long as you don't kill your wife in her way, her way to friends. Like, and you see Ken Griffey, Julia's favorite. He's just like, oh my god. Like, he wants to, like, through the home of Simpson and to the Bush's thing to just think it out of it. Oh, shit. You'll be able to get that much, you know, that's fucking crazy shit dude. That's crazy. I saw him. A cow. I forget. Well, like that one. No, I did. I was also thinking about, no, I was thinking. She didn't go. He has some 9/11 jokes, too, like, it not funny. Like not. It's not funny. He would make it so funny because he'd make it so awkward. What's the worst part about New York City? And people be thinking, he's like, I think it's 9/11 when those planes hit the trade towers. Remember Gilbert Gottfried? No, Gilbert Gottfried. He said it. He said it like 50, he had like 50 different clips of him doing 9/11 jokes. But the Gilbert Gottfried did like a week after 9/11. Like, usually people, you know, give it a minute. They were doing a roast. It was like a week later. I forget. Even if I could remember, I wouldn't say it because it was like, oh, fuck. I mean, it's healthy to laugh again, but like maybe I can give it a, give it another month. I won't stop laughing about it. But I saw I got to see no one's pissed. No, no, no, no, local constant was cool. And I actually DM them. Harvey like 10 years ago. We went back. I looked them up. They were still on there. Like, like, talk gambling and shit. I had a little chatter on some reason. It's still up there. But yeah, he was a legend. Absolutely. So give that a look. See. Also is Norm McDawt? Like because of the off-sideness. Is he like, like, hate it the summer guard or no? People are just completely understanding that they're drunk. Oh, Jay probably didn't like them. No, I know comedians absolutely who didn't like him. Oh, Jay. But he's, he's beloved by comedians. Like, they, they had him on a pedestal all his peers over the years. Oh, Jay's a fucking guy won't stop talking about me. Oh, the Norm McDawt, one where he's on the view. And he's like, yeah, yeah. Getting around that. That's an all time. Getting around the art. Yeah. And they're all like begging him to stop and he's like yelling at him. Like, cut it out. No, this one. He's like, basically, like, I think he went back on. And he's trying to act as if though he succumbed to the mob where he's like, oh, he's like, I almost used the R word. Like, you guys know what I'm talking about, right? And they're like, yeah, yeah, we don't say that around. He was like, yeah, he's like, like, I know, like, I felt horrible. It's like, you just don't use that word. And like, he's just stirring him up. And then at the end, when he's been talking, he like puts a canyon in his mouth. And just, I guess you have to see it. It's just unreal timing. And he's got them eating out of the palm of his hand the whole time. No, no, he was writing a joke. And yeah, he didn't want to use the hours. So he replaced it with down syndrome. I think that was going to be better. I think that is better technically. I mean, it's more politically correct. This is on the, this is on the view. Well, he didn't invite it. No, but they brought it up on the view. And he's like, well, I was going to say the I word, but we can't say that anymore. So I went with town syndrome. Like, and they think he genuinely thought it was like that. It was like a good deed. He was don't bite. Whatever. He ain't on the fucking sweet. Oh, thanks. Thank you. Oh, shit. I saw that movie. Everyone's been talking about that documentary. Yeah, you can see everything. You're Nathan Field. And you guys have a hair. Oh, yeah. He's Canadian. I've heard about the documentary. A minute, Tom. It's best movie scene in seven years. Wild documentary. Like, he does this. They're not pranks. Like, the things are really happening, but he's so deadpin. You don't know how much he's like fucking with people. And he, he asked, sat with that lady Elizabeth Holmes, you know, that. They'll get it and died. It's still all those people are gone. He's serving 11 years in jail for like defrauding people for. Yeah. I think like hundreds of millions. Yeah. So he. So he basically lived with her for 30 to her and her boyfriend and the two kids for like. 30. 30 days. Oh, yeah. I'll get to him in a minute. 30 days before he should have the jail. He like. Like still. They basically live with them recorded. Dude, it's so crazy because you don't know like who's lying. Who's full of shit? Like, does he like her? Does she like him? And it was it was. Yeah. Two hours and 40 minutes. It flies by. But it's definitely what like very intriguing thought. And you kind of walk out like, what the fuck did I just watch? It's kind of a bit of a head fuck. But. And yeah, Billy, her husband is like five minutes in the movie. Dude's in the shower. And he's playing down. He's fucking naked. And he's got his like, long hand out. Like, I was like, whoa, what kind of movie is this? And which way? So I haven't seen it yet. So yeah, they say that they're like meant for each other where they're both just out of their minds. Like he was running her Twitter account at one point. So Nathan feel they're like, have you have you guys never watched a show Nathan for you? Oh, buddy, like he has some insanely genius sketches where like like you get a like let's say gas is six dollars a gallon, right? He's got like one cent the gallon. So these people come in and there's fine print that there's a rebate. And they come in packed. But this is a business owner who has a struggling business who's trying to think of ideas how to get more business. So they hire Nathan fielder to do it. So he's like, we're going to sell gas for a cent. And they're like, well, then we're going to go broke. And he's like, well, no, the rebate is going to be that they have to drive two hours. We have a shuttle that drives them. And then they have to hike this mountain 10 miles up. So do people do it? Do people do it? One person ended up doing it. And he and he shuttles them and then goes on the hike to the top of them. And then he's like getting to know them, like kind of like this documentary is there's like a. Oh, man, that you have to go watch these old shows that he did of Nathan for you where there's there's one where like you can. You can get like free you buy a flat screen TV and then you get a free one. And this is when scrap flat screen TVs were like five grand. So then they come into the store. Same thing, another business owner that's struggling that like wants to drive business. So then they show up and they're like, well, no, you have to be wearing a tuxedo to like to like buy the TV. So they go and they go bring they come back at a tuxedo. And then he goes up to the door that you have to go into to get to the the flat screen TVs. And it's a door the size of your laptop. Like so he has to get on his hands and knees to crawl in this door. And then there's another door when they get in that has there's got glass you can see through it. And then there's a live alligator in there. So you're seeing these people's reactions in real time. I'm just fucking with people, but then yet trying to help business owners. Oh, man, there was one where they invented like a like a little room where you could like. Ah, fuck, I kind of forgot the whole premise of that one. Oh, the one other one that I can think about the top of my head is they took smoking out of in California out of bars. So the place smell like smoke and the bar owners like I'm not getting anybody anymore because this used to be like a smoking joint. So under the fact that if you had a live performance and you were like.
videoing it like a movie you could smoke in the venue to like so that what they did is they had a he created a viewing section and that he brought two people in and he like sold them a ticket and then he like opened up the curtain where these pedestrians could then go in because they were technically acting where they're all hacking darts while they're enjoying their beer is at a bar. So he kept finding these loopholes and silly things where I don't know how many seasons of Nathan for you. He did, but I would say there's like at least two where I think for you for yeah, he's okay. Yeah. Yeah. They're genius. Yeah. He's got a diabolical and like not like I mean a twist the way just like and he's so deadpan like he just waiting from the brain. Never laughs or anything right? He's just yeah exactly. And the sick puppy. The first one is like with the guy with the yoga shop what he want in business. So he's like, how about we come up with a new flavor. Who flick with yoga. Poo flavor yoga. Then it'll it'll bring people into the store like like so they maybe he went to some store where they had like a like shit like it wasn't actual ship and it had like the set and taste of it. And so people come in. He didn't sound with flavor. He was doing the day would do and taste test with like shit. Flip it fucking yoga. No, but he's sick puppy. Yeah, but to finish up the other show we did the rehearsal on another and have a stream in place. And he watched the second season. If you really want to get into it, he he investing. It's why planes crash. What it would occurs in the final seconds. And he starts like to try to learn how to fly a plane. It's absolutely fascinating. I'm from soup to nuts from the first episode to the last. And it's so glad they're funny because he gets he leads up to like remember Charlie the bird, the plane that landed in the Hudson. He wants to know like what was going on in cell. He's brain. And but with the last episode, man, I felt my bad laugh. And he's he's just like I don't he's he's he's a diabolical genius. And yeah, and in these really uncomfortable situations, he's able to not break character not and and now I believe it was a $7 million dollar documentary or whatever you want to call this because there is a little bit of acting involved in it with double this. Yeah, I don't want to spoil it. Yeah, I won't spoil it. But yeah, already in the first weekend, I think it's recouped like or it's made like 25 million 30 million bucks. So they're saying that it has the opportunity to win best picture where are I don't know if a documentary is ever one best picture, maybe one. I don't know the docs have been nominated for best pitch because there is a documentary category. So they typically don't get nominated for best picture. Yeah, this is the most financially successful documentary since Fahrenheit 9/11 that Michael Moore made like 27 years ago. So yeah, definitely good good shit. Give it a look. See and well on another outlet elsewhere. I watched you know the movie carries the horrible movies from back in the 70s. Well, they they just dropped a new series. I didn't know if I was going to like I put on dude. It was fantastic. I think eight episodes like an hour reach. It's you know, just a new adaptation from the Steven King book. And yeah, it was they put it like a modern sediment. It was it was really good. Do you want that adolescence on Netflix or all. Okay, so I'm about the kid who murdered the kid. Yeah, the kid accused of killing the girl. Yeah, in this this one, it almost feels like a like a like a girl version of that like basically like, you know, based how mean and how they can be and as a like a social media aspect, but yeah, it was much better than I thought going into it. So give that a look. See in our classic recommendation for the week is going to go dog day afternoon Al Pacino 1975 based on a true story. Guys rob in a bank and it becomes like a hostage situation all day. And I think it was in Brooklyn. It's just a classic Al Pacino role. Give that a look. She true. I think who said you love that directed it. And final last, I guess I had me birthday of my father Leo. He's going to be 82 tomorrow Saturday. So Peter fruit best that. Yeah, happy birthday, Leo. Happy birthday, Leo. So yeah, wrap up that now. I did go back on a Brooklyn. Yeah, it's for that. Yeah. I ended up driving down. I took the. Oh, I've been seeing a lot of clips of of Sturgel Simpson. What do they? What is your name? Jimmy Blues? Johnny Blues guy. Johnny Blues guy. Did you stay there? No, I I I packed it out. Shout out to something that the boys over to engine 219, a lot of 105. I I packed at the flyhouse and then the broans were on. So I drove over to Manhattan to the connock, um, the bar, the hockey bar, like 1921. And and I usually don't post sometimes where I am because yeah, I've speculated it. I didn't know who might show up, but I did it. And I turned in like two girls from Montreal and I give them a long I would show it up to say, what's up? Hello, and I I ended up packing out with them. We went to a couple of other spots and I grabbed the bodega sandwich at like 435 in the modern. And then when I got lighter, I drove home. Oh, yeah. I mean, you never slept. I've maybe got a little cat nap before and see the calf like that. For 1.95. Like 20 minutes. I don't want to start driving in the dock. But you know, I wasn't like boozing because I actually thought I was going to bring the mushroom down, but I was just some weed. No, I was I was pretty chill. But yeah, yeah, what was that? Oh, Trevor Jenner Olivia. I told him I'd give him a little shadow on the slide. So a couple of up Canadian fans. So it was good time. And I lost some show man. If you're if you're if Sturgial or Johnny Blue Skies is coming, you got time and go see him. It's all right. He's got like three shows left. I think he's a new New Orleans Atlanta. And but yeah, I'm not I'm not here. I'm back in a Z. And then he says he's going on hiatus for for like like made it sound like maybe like a year or two from his stuff. But there's rumors that he's going to be joining forces with John mayor and joining the the Grateful Dead. That's the rumblings right now. Someone else said that to me too. That would be unreal. But yeah, it's a phenomenal show man. Three hours like just like a relentless like rock country, whatever show. But so yeah, good good time. I love driving now to New York. I always do good time. So I boys think that about wraps it up. I know Jeep probably wants to get out of here. Get it any more questions. Anything you want to discuss, Pizz? I was just going to say bravo to Brady to you know, obviously the Kuchucks and then the auto sellers fans for bringing us so much joy in the hockey world over the last 24 hours. Like I get that there's tension and there's hate there. But like that was so fucking entertaining. Poison. Yeah, it was. We need we need 25 more of those type of games a year. Yeah, that's hard. It's hard to drum up that actual passion. That was yeah, get on get on your horse. Okay. Yeah, but yeah, all right, everyone. Thank you so much. We never talked about the about the his list. Oh, we did it. 10 teams. We never talked about him expanding the list. Some expanded the list. He went from three to 10. No, I think it was six to 10, wasn't it? Yeah. I thought the original list was three. I mean, it was the biggest Florida in Minnesota, I think. I've defended him a lot. The three team list is insane. Right. Yeah, but it went from three to 10. Someone said it was like going on hinge and expanding like your territory. Like adding a few more names. And he just going on the wagon. Yeah, Tampa, Utah, who else was on that was every year as he was on it. It's like the all I think all it seems like the highest or like the best odds for the Stanley Cup of hill. He seemed among them that he didn't have on was Edminton. Like crazy. Like trade trade right, fucking now to a contender. My dream scenario is New Jersey. And then they miss playoffs. That would be I would fuck suck on that. Pasha, if that happens, buddy, I'm going to tattoo an L on your forehead this off season, screw the 10th downtown new hobo holeboken. You're getting an L tattooed right front and center. Well, that's it. That's that's a wrap. What an honor to be back to you Tuesday morning. Have a great weekend, everyone. We love you all. And thank you so much for listening to the 8th of the year. I'll be. I don't know. It don't matter. It's going to happen. It's going to happen again. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
