The conversation ends with a positive outlook, noting the Red Wings’ need for change and the importance of team unity, while also celebrating the growth of modern teams like Winnipeg, which show strong team spirit and player development. Pinkies out, but actually hold on a minute because let's talk Reese's Reese's. If you see all the peanut butter cups I have here, if I eat all these, I'm going to get even fatter. We get the jersey right here. This jersey overall. Put that thing on base. Put that thing on. So we were actually just talking with the first overall pick from Wellen Ontario with some of the worst tattoos you will ever see who doesn't eat enough Reese's peanut butter cups because he still shows muscle in his stomach. Reese's select Reese's selects a plug. Paul business. He missed it. He's got the jersey on now. So shut up Reese's unreal jersey. We guys we're here for chick let's cup. I'll sign it. I'll sign it. Yeah, I'll sign it and give it to you. Yeah, you won't give it to anyone. You'll sign it and then hang it up in your office because that's how good Reese's is. And they're here all weekend at chick let's cup Harpoon brewery. Can't wait. We'll talk about that. What what do you have? So there are presenting sponsor now. Yeah, that's fucking big time. I actually said that to my wife. I'm like, we have a legit presenting spot. Not that pink Whitney's not pink. He's up. But like that has my name on it. So it's a it makes little sense. This is a monster brand kind of back them into a corner to do. I hope and I can get like a Keith's cup. Yeah, no chance. No chance. Actually again, keep going and waiting. You might be lucky enough to this should be shouldn't have that jersey on. You're in too good a shape. Yeah, I could rock it. What an exciting time. The weather. I mean, we're looking at like 67 degrees in sunny the next three days. 6 7. So I'm so excited for that. We'll get into we'll get into the tournament and how you're feeling. Both you guys before you till I think one 30 Fridays when you guys go head to head. My whole family's coming. So I'm excited to see what's going on there. But first off, biz, I just saw a tweet. The men that beat you up. They they were sentenced for men. Not one day of jail time. All four. What did you see that like five minutes ago? I bailed them out on my team. They're going to come out of the patio out here with the Boston Stranglers. That would be a hands move, dude. They have hurling sticks instead of street hockey sticks. But I'll tell you like they all got two years probation. And then it said they had to pay $8,000 restitution to you. So I was like, Oh, 32. Well, they paid for like my like neck massages and like my therapy. Well, no, I was like, Oh, he could fill up his truck finally with what they're going to pay him. That's awesome. But it's actually 8,000 combined. So 2000 and guys. So kind of bullshit that you know, that was a long time ago. I thought they might get a little jail time. So I was like my like quarterly tab at Houston's still can't get a meal named after you save the fork managers alive. Who do I got to get a salad around here? Who do I have to defend and protect? I'm going to Reese's for every meal moving forward. But guys, how do you feel coming in? We have Terry Ryan coming in a little bit. We have Swaggy P. Swaggy P's. Have we ever had him on? No. Okay. So Swaggy P for people who don't know just a wizard with the puck with the street hockey ball with the street hockey puck. He's going to come on. He's on the stranglers again. He's he's like a Costco brand Scotty Gomez is what I call it. I liked that. But he at I came off practice earlier this year's one of the first practices of the year for riders team. And there was 50 kids like and I was like, what is going on here? And Swaggy P was at the rink. So he's a monster with all the young hard guys with the skills. He's like all those guys like coach Chippy like anytime those guys walk in anywhere. The fucking people that know about any of these YouTuber guys or guys who are an Instagram. The Swaggy P like he posts some videos where he'll go on vacation. He'll be in like Mexico City. And he's got the blades on and he's fucking doing crossover through the streets. Like there's like dang holes everywhere. Yeah. That was a wrong guy to dangle there. He's in the back of a van. Oh shit. Shouldn't it done that in Mexico City? Let's stay in Canada. But show no Swaggy P. Show you transition. RAs coming in in a couple minutes. So we see R.A. I have a gift for R.A. I cannot wait to give it. Well, yeah, but something else. Nice. Yeah. Nice. Yeah. So this is it. Basically, I texted the group this morning. It's last dance because I believe this is going to be it for you guys. If you lose, there's no more big deal selects, which is thank god. I'm not rooting against you. But I'll tell this to every guy on the team. Like I like them. And I think we all get along. But like you scrubs. If you can't get it done, it's time for you to be done. So Jans hated the big deal selects and was like talking shit before a last year. No, awesome. And no, and then he met con man. He's like, I want him on my team. Like he fell in love with all the new fees. So we're excited to have him. We have a loaded squad. So funny enough, I get a Terry Ryan. He doesn't do the text message. He sends you the voice notes. He doesn't even talk into the phone for the text. He actually does the message. Oh, yeah, the voice. But we're not probably burger does. Okay, but we're not talking like 20 seconds. No, we're talking like four or five minutes. I'm basically listening to Terry Ryan audio. You got to get a new phone to download his audio message. I got it. I had to update my iCloud. I had more storage. Yeah, fucking more drop box here. But he's got a torn labor. And which means I torn fucking liver because he's been on the fucking saws because he's famous now because of shoresy. What side is left or right? I don't know, but funny enough, when I went on that hiking trip, I don't know if it was because of those fucking cots we were sleeping on that were like a half inch thick where my shoulders been bugging me. So excuses are already flowing in for the big deal selects. Listen, listen, say whatever they want to it at this point. Who cares? They've gone insane. They're going to crush everyone lost at least now. Look, the excuse will make sense. I'll probably play the exact same amount that I played in the NHL. I'm going to get my three four shifts of game. I'm going to contribute. I'm going to be there for my teammates. And I'm confident that we can win our four. Oh, there he is. He just poked his head in. We're going to be talking to you in about 30 minutes. T.R. How's the labrum? A long way from the heart. Exactly. Exactly. Bring in the what would he call it? No, it's what he closed actually. We use tort all. You just need to just hand them Reese's. They get off. They get off the sheet. The board just give him just give him a peanut butter. Well, that's the that's like the the like the the pre tournament going in. How how the teams feeling morale is maybe a little bit low because of that. But when we all get together, we're going to put together a good squad. What have you changed about your team, the Boston strength? Nothing. So I've handed the keys over to Brendan Collier. Let him handle everything. We've added three guys from the USA Olympic gold team that knows face is on that they wanted. So we added three guys from that team. I think we dropped a few guys from the Stranglers of last year. So there have been some been some changes. I'm not sure exact. I don't know. So you have to get a little bit ugly with it. And like say, Hey, man, we appreciate your time and effort last year. But you're talking about those days. No, I'm talking no, I'm talking about the fact that Yance had basically all of his buddies on his team. So you had to say no to like two, three guys to where they got caught. And then you brought in ringers. Yes. Okay. That's okay. We we've gotten ruthless for our team before two. So Hey, desperate times call for desperate measures. So let's roll, baby. I uh, the on the bench guys on your team on the bench guys are going to be on they always they're like biz. They kind of spot it and I'll turn on the
block shots. They're not, they're not like going to be like 25 minutes. Yeah, they are. Yeah. They can be all they can play because their whole stack is like they're on the back. Yeah, but they are way better shut. Yeah, true. Last thing before we dive into NHL, it's breast cancer awareness month. I'm going to hand it over to G. We're selling merchandise and we're raising money for a very good cause. Obviously, this is something that's near and dear, very close to his heart. G, take it away. Yeah. Once again, spit and shakelet's chart a cure this time. We're donating 100% net proceeds to move over breast cancer, which is a really cool foundation. A lot of us kind of in a dark place last year. They brought her out to Utah. They went hiking. They went on these glam trips and it wasn't just her. It was about 20 other women and that's what they do. They bring these girls on retreats. They have like a glam boss that comes by their house or make some feel pretty again. Yeah. Yeah, it's a really amazing cause that really means a lot to a lot in my family, so my wife now I can say. Yeah. I saw G with a wedding ring on today. I'm like, God, it's so weird. She's not anywhere. Yeah. Okay. Sure, buddy. That I said too. But it's pretty cool. The 100% of net proceeds and that's something I'm really proud of because there's a lot of brands out there that they slap a breast cancer logo on something and then they're only donating 2%, 3%, which is fucking insane. We don't make a dime off this shit. No, no, no, should we because it's going to, right, a bunch of the women out there who need it. So please check out all our merch. Came out awesome too. We sent it over. It's all over our social. So check that out. Good job, G and I know, Biz, you're a big part of helping get that going too. So great job. This is helping me with some in a lot of something a lot bigger that will announce in a couple of weeks. It's also, it's yeah, but it's also on behalf of our team and the guys. We've talked about it behind the scenes, like, what more can we do to help certain things like obviously the NHL alumni? And then this is something that just became, you know, and obviously an issue with you, but also like our trickle's family. So we're going to keep moving the needle and helping out in the ways we can. And it's awesome. And let's go there. Well, in speaking of that too, though, we have the Blind Hockey at Chickle's Cup this weekend. I didn't mention that. That's going to be real. They're going to have their own tent set up and you can put on like goggles and use their equipment to kind of see what it's like to simulate what it's like to be a blind hockey player. They have a couple of teams come in. There's some kids come in. Yeah, that was a great interview. What was his preference patch? Yes. That was great. That was last season, right? Yeah. So he'll be here. Okay. Awesome. Nice. We're going forward to seeing him. What a story that kind of like how I played the NHL. Yeah. Okay. With the blinders on. By the way, quickly Keith was just on the Chuck Brothers pod. I don't know if I've ever heard that story of you leaving your skates in the oven. Oh, okay. Yeah, buddy. You couldn't get new skates in the NHL. No, no. I would I would normally get one one new pair a year. Like you hear these stories. Now I think like kill McCarrer is rocking a new pair every five games they were saying, maybe who Duncan Keith would get a new pair every five games. So I'll hand it over to Yans to talk about how this all went down in Arizona when I was with the Kyries. Yeah. So business just like if he saw a guy heating up skates to get new skates, he'd always go up to the trainers. Hey, Stan, Hey, Jason, Tony, can I get new skates too? And they'd be like, no, they look at his. There's a mark on them. They're like, but he'd be like, my skates are worse than there's a bag skating every day. I'm putting all my weight on, which is a hundred percent true. King or bag skates are wear it down some wheels. We used to break in other guys skates. But so then finally one day the trainers cracked in the like, all right, is you can get some new skates. Biz is all fired up, puts him in the oven. They're supposed to be in there for like six, seven minutes or something. Mod even, I think like three, three minutes. He put him in there for two hours. They were they were hug boots by the time they came out. And that was the last pair of skates. And you might actually got sent to the monitor. No, so normally when I would throw them in, I would literally just sit in the chair every person, like every single person ever, you would start the timer and you would just be there staring at the oven until they were done. Cause you want them out immediately to get him tied, crap noise. I could have sworn. Yands came in and was like, Hey, we're all going for a steamer. Let's go and obviously I just hopped out of the chair and went to grab a steamer with the boys. And then and then like, I think I think it was like maybe Tony who knocked on the steamer door. And and he's like, you left your fucking skates in there for like 25 minutes. It broke the machine. It melted the skate. They were done. They were done. I had fucking waited months for these new wheels. I finally got them. And they were fucking out of boots. And I had to keep rocking the same wheel. So heard that that's that's such that you would probably fire it up to get some new. The other thing that probably drove them not as you know, how when you would, let's say warrior would come by or like I was typically a CCM guy, you could have them make you like a pattern. Oh yeah, every company that comes, they'll make you because they want to get you in their in their stuff. Wow, they didn't really want me in them, but I would be like, oh yeah, like and then and I would ever see it's by Dre would come for him. But but I would I would always request like a new curve and like, Oh, let's try this flex and they're just standing fucking Tony or like get this guy out of this league. Did you use some crazies? The ballistic. Oh, combat. Yeah, me and Yager, they gave them what did they gave me no like all like a best buy or something. Yeah, like Lulu lemon gift cards or something. I'm fucking I'm playing with these combat. You kept saying, well, Yager's using it. It's going to be pretty good. Yeah, but he actually was using them. Guys on the other teams are just like get this guy with the road hockey stick out of his league. Oh God, I don't think like, oh, other guys on other teams are just carve me nonstop. I had nothing to say. I had no chirps either, but move it on more important news in today's NHL in current NHL, current NHL Wednesday night biz on the broadcast TNT, the hundred and first time, Crosby has played Ovechkin OV announces that this is going to be his last season. You do that. What do you do that on Tuesday? You do that. When do you do that? This video came out to that. I think he told the team, told the team, told the team. So a couple of things. Do you think that maybe they purposely did it knowing that they had the first matchup between Sid and Ovi coming and or do you think he went to the quick training camp and played a few games and was like, holy fuck. I don't know if I could do this another year after that. And you have his lowest ice time ever, the game before. Yeah, yeah. I think he did. I think he did. But that team's a wagon. They're loaded. And I mean, I was kind of blown away at like seeing that 101 times they played against each other. Should we look it up? Is that the most anyone in the NHL's ever played against somebody? But it's number two, right? No, it's not even in the top 30. What? Oh, yeah. So that said current because back in the day, even current. I was wrong when we were texting last night. There's there's so many. When I start reading some of these names, you're going to be like, oh, that makes sense. You probably have that stuff. Copa tar. We have, I mean, number one, Ray Bork, Guy Carbano. Can you tell me how many games they played against? They played 135 against each other. Right. And that includes playoffs as well. 84 regular season 51 playoffs. Ray Bork and Guy Carbano. How many teams were in the league for most of their probably? So that makes sense. In terms of, wait, can we get a few more on the list? I give us the top, but give us the top 10. So it's Ray Bork, Guy Carbano, Ron Francis, Dale Hunter, Ray Bork. Give us the numbers, though. Ron Francis, Dale Hunter, 122 games. Ray Bork and Ron Francis, 121 games, Wayne Gretzky, and Jamie McCown, 115 games, Gordy Roberts. Gordy Roberts, Dennis Savard, 113 games. The most recent would be Patrick Marlow and Dustin Brown with 111 games. Yeah. Wow. And then Shane Done, Patrick Marlow, 107 games. Wow, donor there. Joe Thornton, Dustin Brown, 105 games. Wow. And obviously there's some mixed and, on say, co-pertor and market word, classic, 102 games. Yeah. Brent Burns and co-pertor 101 games. Think about two guys who are these phenoms coming into the league at the same time, and they're so highly titled like they're the next coming of Gretzky and the next great one, both coming at the same time to both organizations who are struggling. Yeah. Oh, one of which is is what's going to move probably going to move. And then these guys go on to have these careers. So we're going to go Crosby first, three time cup champ, two time heart trophy for MVP, two time consmite, playoff MVP, two heart Ross leading score, two time Olympic gold, most consecutive points per game seasons of all time, seventh all time in career points. He's going to keep moving up that list tied for seventh all time in career assist. He's going to get higher there. 20 seasons as a captain most all time. And that includes two rockets, which they didn't include on that list because he's won two scoring titles said that's our Ross our old goal. It's led to teaming. It's certainly in goals twice. I think he has two rocket recharge trophies. What? Sydney Crosby is one of the rocket recharge trophy twice in his career, 2009, 2010, 2010. I believe one of which was after you said that you bet Max Talbot that he would never get 50. That's very true. I should probably know that. I don't even know if I ever paid Talbot. Then we got over one cup three time MVP heart trophy, kind of crazy more MVP's than said. That surprised me a little bit. Yeah. One time cons mith playoff MVP, nine time rocket Richard, most goals all time, most power play goals all time, most game winning goals of all time, most 30 goal seasons of all time and 18 seasons as a captain, third most all time. The announcement by OV to say like this is it and he tells the team and then Carberry talks. I was like in, in,
And before last night's game with his two sons, I think Elias Sergei announcing him as the last whole air pool. I was like sad and I can't even imagine how I feel when Sid someday retires 'cause I got the chance to play with them. And I was with my two kids and we were watching the intros and I was like, this has been so long I played against these guys. They were like, what? Like they couldn't even bat them at. Neither can I really looking back at they're still doing it. But no one it's always last year. I kind of like it because all year, every away team fan is going to get to kind of show him like their praise and their respect. And then you know, ideally that team goes on a run. I don't know how big of a part over he's going to play on that team this year. You know, I think he's going to get 20 goals, right? But what I've seen so far and it's early, it's like if so many elite players, he's just not as big of a player on that team anymore. It's like you see his ice time. It's kind of it's kind of it. Carbary's in a tough spot too because. I think he's in a way better spot this year because I feel over the last couple of years and he's obviously proven that he could still score that maybe like his mind still thought he could do it but his body couldn't where now his realization is is that like answer Carter called him like the DH of hockey. Like he's going to be basically a DH this year which is kind of cool. Like you could play power play, probably play fourth line. Wouldn't imagine that they would healthy scratch him at all when they weren't healthy and back to backs and stuff. I don't know how to get some nights off. I just feel like it's going to be easier on a guy like Carbary to like and I'm sure they've already had that conversation on how they're going to handle it. And also for what he's done for that team organization, the league, he should get carried by the rest of the squad into a playoff position and get out, get to go out like to see them like and it's very possible to see them and to stand the cup final would be so sick to see that in his last year. Like that would be like that would be all time. Yeah, and I think he mentioned it on your broadcast or another interview that I saw that he saw the group that they put together this year. He saw them as a cup contender and I think in his mind he's like I could maybe help this team out a little bit and help them win a Stanley Cup. So I think for him is seeing how good the team is. Like maybe if they didn't make any moves, maybe he wouldn't have came back, you never know. But I'm glad he came back and I'm glad that he told everybody like you guys said that everyone's gonna be able to give him his flowers because man, this guy like what a competitor. Like not only was he scoring goals at will, like he was running guys through the boards. Oh, my algorithm had a five minute video of his biggest hits ever. You kind of I forgot about some of these. I mean, he's completely putting guys to sleep. Yeah. And and he was skating around as fast as anyone at two, I'd say 35, most of his career, maybe 250 now. And like the respect they have for each other now, but the hatred dude, they fucking hated each other. Well, I think it was also media driven. And then like for the first or whatever it was 12, 13 years, the narrative was probably weighing on over you that like, like it's not true because you go inside that locker room, you see how much of an impact and how much those guys love him and like the vibes that he brings to the locker room, but he couldn't win that he was selfish. He would cheat to the offensive side of the puck. And like that was the narrative for 12 seasons until finally in year 13 where they got over the hump and he won. Like which I couldn't imagine like we're carrying that burden. And then you've at that point out what it's in one, sit at one three at that point, yes, three, yes. And and I believe three times had beaten them in the second round to go on to then win the Stanley Cup. So and then maybe Pittsburgh the year they got it in the second round. Yeah, so I think it was three years in a row that the winner of that series won the cup. Yeah, 2016 to 2018. Yeah, it's and going back to like how again, as you said, like how physical he was early on. Never in a million years after watching his first 10 years, what I thought that he would have lasted this long based on how he was going out there. Like no, no chance. You're like, this guy's going to break down. You can't keep playing like that. And I mean up until a few years ago, he was still doing it. So just the fucking absolute biggest machine that the game's ever seen. And just it's hard because we always talking about this Mount Rushmore, Mount Rushmore. It almost has to be separated where you have like the OG class where him and Sid will be leading the way on the new one. And and that's just how it has to be. Yeah, I think everybody, especially nowadays, like you have to realize what Sid and OV meant to the game. Where the game is now coming in. They were drafted years different, but coming in the same year because they'll walk out, right? Yeah. And the game, it was on the outdoor life network. Right. Yeah. It was on the OLM and look at the salaries now. Like those two are directly like the reason. Yep. That these guys that Celebrini's making 19 watching guys getting trooper into like Alaska and dropped off naked and like survival videos. And then hockey would come. It would need to be a pregame show. They'd go to like, there'd be like 1830 left in the first coming off naked and afraid on the OLM. It's like, okay, we got Crosby of Etchkin, rookie here together. I didn't love that. I think you were behind OV walking me on the TNT broadcasts. I had a heart. That move was gross. I mean, it goes through the legs. He's just way faster, better, bigger, stronger than me. I don't think that needed to be on the TNT on the other side, though. I didn't even notice that that was you when they were. Yeah, thanks. I did. It was the first clip. I'm like, why do you guys do my man? You think I pick the clip? I do. I do. I do. Do you know? I hit my nose, buddy. That's it. I see a booger eater over here. That's the only thing I'm like. I called my kids down. Last time my kids aren't huge hockey fans and I'm like, you have to watch this, like the intro to him. Yeah. I think it's going to be one of those things. I'll remember that for the rest of my life. His kids announcing him knowing that it's his last game there. That was special. We get the tunnel camera and they play a little bit of it before the game, but we get it before we go live on air watching him and the Washington capitals, like each guy come out of the locker room before they hit the ice for warm up and how they go over to him for their special handshake, I could watch that every single game for 84 games. They have such good vibes in that hallway before they go out. Did you hear what he's doing next year? He's like a choreographer for NBA team handshakes, he has that many Wizards. Yeah. He's going right into that. Yeah. You have to get saved on other league. I feel like Oh, she was kind of the big guy on that too. He was great in that Carlson, all the all the the backstrum in terms of the game. Fans make them that that tuck Wilson here, Luke Du Boil line scary. That's a problem. There are some tweets said like this line needs a nickname, the Arby's line because we got the beef. I didn't hate that one, but I know caps fans are going to be good and that that line needs a nickname because good luck stopping those three when they get going. Do we have any good and good ideas in here for name? Oh, I'm the worst at stuff like that. Absolutely. Absolutely. Keith will get something going for us, but you know, Washington took care of business there. Greg made it pretty exciting though. They came back and I mean, it was a pretty good game and then Ryan Leonard with a snife. So of the 101 games they faced off together, it was only the ninth time that both of them were held pointless. No. Yeah. I was actually surprised that even here it was nine we're, you give up three what I would have thought like. Yeah. And for it was a bit of a tough night for Sid minus four, which you rarely see that. And how many games have said played? I would say 1400 and something was I was just say was at the first time he was minus four. No. Six time in his career, okay, but that's still good, man, like he's going top. He's going to get the top one hundred twenty four fourteen hundred twenty four, so that was the sixth time. I mean, I think I was minus four six times that I had what re under a game. Exactly. I'll tell you, I want to see that his stats the next night after minus four next game. That would be a good one to check out. But yeah. Washington looks great. Over his last year, kind of crazy. Really appreciate him and see if they can go on a run. So do you want to do you think about the number? Okay. So I don't know if it was for the whole season. It might have been in New York when Wayne was was doing his like his like swan song and when he was going from building the building. They, they, I know at MSG, they put ninety nine behind the net because obviously that was known as Wayne's office. He kind of patented. I don't, like, it was kind of like the semi pro where they did the alley. You were people were like, oh, the two fouls like Wayne started using the back of the net, like, no one had ever really done before. And he kind of revolutionized the game. So they put the ninety nine behind the net in order to honor him at MSG. And I was thinking, well, now that he's the greatest goal store of all time and where he buttered his bread was on the offside one time or at the top of the circle, they should put the number eight there like they did for Wayne behind the net. Completely agree. Now, now I don't know then what they would do for Sid. Maybe they would put it where the, like the, the arches are the McDonald's arches. Yeah. Because that was kind of weird. The system handling pregame. Yeah. It's a superstition. He's known as a superstitious guy. So they should put big 87s where he would do the McDonald's arches and fuck McDonald's should fucking fuck up and pay for it till I do it. I was thinking with the OV12, you know, the leagues about making money's in the sponsorships.
It should be a subway and a coca-cola, probably eight because over the, you know, the classic seeing him walk on the plane with a subway bag and a coca-cola. But if we get a picture, a still image of a one-timer goal him standing on the eight, that, that, that, like a silhouette of him, I mean, fuck you. No, I'm saying like, if he, if they put the eight there and he rips a one-timer home from there and you get that picture forever of him, standing just next to the eight and ripping from his office, that's a good idea. There's that whole, did they do it at MSG? Yeah, so they did it at MSG only for his final game, April 18th, 1999. That final game against Pittsburgh, I believe it's going to be in Washington. It's the last game of the regular season. It's on the ESPN broadcast. They need to put the number eight at the offside one-timer side. They have to do that. And I got a chance to ask them because we obviously known for forever that he drinks coca-cola on the bench. So we got the opportunity to interview him. And normally it's, uh, uh, to, uh, to wreak Alba Shire who gets the talk to him on behalf of the TNT broadcast. So we got to talk to him. I wanted to know how that all originated. And I guess there was a marathon runner from back in Russia that he learned that from where he said, like, when I need like an energy spike, I just do a little bit of coca-cola. And when, you know, people are saying like, uh, duh, like that's obvious. That's why, uh, the beast mode did the skittles. Well, when OV was, you know, 1718, he probably had no clue about how body chemistry works. So he's heard all this marathon runner from Russia. He still might not have any clue. And it's a little full pod to have a soda on the bench. Yeah. There's one guy who can get away with it. And it's him, right? So it's pretty sick to know in modern day, like how everybody's obsessed with diets at the greatest goal score of all time was crushing coca-cola on the bench. So yeah, it's time for them to buck up and, and sponsor that grade eight, uh, offside one time or side. And I think that that's it for, for stats that we had, um, in order to kind of honor them and, and, and, and pumbest hires. But this ain't the end. Like both those guys have, have gas left in the tank and we'll see what they can do. I think for them in playoffs, like everyone will be rooting for them if they get in and have a good shot of winning just to see if OV could win his last year, like a Ray Bork type situation. That would be incredible. I don't think I'll cry when OV, like OV's, it's always last game just because I don't, I guess, have as close to of an emotional connection to him and like, you know, SIDS Canadian, I got the chance to play with them. But when, when, like, it's obviously going to be emotional when OV retires, but when Cid retires, man, like I, I think I'll fucking, I think I'll cry, like a boy. Thank you. My kids went, what's wrong? Is that we've been living in a trailer, it's not for this guy. This house, but we get to talk about them, the whole rest of the season, but these guys are, the reason that all these guys are signed in 20.8 million, fucking five year offer sheet contracts or because of those two guys right there. So thank you to them for, for carrying the league for as long as they have. No doubt. Well said. And then we go to Detroit, also this week since we last recorded another guy carrying an organization, Dylan Larkin. And, and I didn't know how long he'd be out all of a sudden that morning skate was like Larkin's plant and I had a home game. Here we go. And the first time he touches the puck, it's loud. It's loud. And I really respect it after he said, like I knew, I knew everything you expect. I knew what to expect on first home game of the year when I was on the bench. I knew what to expect when I touched the puck. I'm just here now to try to play as well as I can and help this team now. I think I said last episode play well and they ain't gonna boo. And I, and I think was it murals, or memes, memes said Larkin score. No, memes said Larkin and McKenna are both scoring tonight. And sure, shit, it happened, but Larkin looked great. He also had an assist. He had another great chance. He could have scored. They beat Ottawa in kind of a nasty game. At one point, cousins was chirping Larkin for getting the C-stripped. I'm like, well, it's not like he didn't request a trade and they just stripped the C. Like, I don't, that shirt didn't make sense to me. Like, he literally said, I don't want to be here anymore. Your cousins is going to go down. There's like a like right now, he's a probably top five rat in the NHL. Would you say? I always think of a text he sent you at like two in the corner. You motherfucker. Because I called him a rat for reasons like that. Like it, like to me, I, and I said, he doesn't think he's a rat. I don't know, but I mean it with the utmost respect and compliment where I'm like, you are a piece of shit out there. Guys want to kill you. I remember a guy from the blues going down to the locker room to try to after he said something. Like he crosses the line out there with his chirps. And then for him to do the C gesture, you just say you'd take him on his, your team, you always take a guy like that. And I'm getting three AM death threat. Like it's Gary Lawless saying you better talk about this guy that we just picked up. But here's what I have to say to Wings fans at this point. If you have any chance of making playoffs in the near future, they don't you need to start, you need to get on your knees and you need to slob the debaust as hammer right fucking now. You need to beg for forgiveness. Because maybe just maybe he'll change his mind and maybe he'll shoot a text over to Edmundson and they can get the ball rolling on this season because it's not over yet. You guys had a dog shit start without him in the lineup. You have no chance, no chance of making playoffs. And now all of a sudden, I'm hearing all these rumblings and these booing the fucking ownership group. Somebody's I'm getting a bunch of DMs from from level headed Red Wings fans. They try to sign stamp coast and bring stamp coast in when his deal was up and an ownership group nixed it by paying by paying him saying he was too old and they didn't want to fork over the Basha owns them. Yeah. Oh yeah. I'm not idiot last year. He's done. He got 44 goals, I think. So you got this guy who you booed opening night. You're booing every time touches the puck who sets up a goal goes and scores a goal. Then he defends a teammate and almost gets in a scrap. Then he's getting fucking ridiculed by the other bench. But then still keeps competing for your team to lead you toe. Was that their first win of the season against Ottawa? I believe so. I believe that was our first win of the season. Moving forward, I better not hear any booze. I don't give a fuck what your guys reasoning is. But I'm team deboss now. He wants some help. He doesn't want to waste his years away in Detroit, getting no free agent signings and then ownership after the ownership of the past. Now Chris has taken over and apparently he's got the alligator arms. You need to buck up and bring in some guys to surround this team with good players and fans need to have a complete look in the mirror right now as to what the fuck they're booing and why? That's my opinion on it. Great take. No. Yeah. And I agree 100% with what you said. What I thought was cool after Larkin scored. You could tell like he's been going through it, right? Obviously he's from there. He didn't even really celebrate. I think he looked up and his family must have been in a box or sitting up there and he looked up and pointed and was like, you're here with me like, you know, it's okay. And he needed some people there, right? I don't know. I'm completely speculating that it was his family. No, that was the Chris. He said, go get me a fucking free agent of itch. And then at the end of the interview him after the game and he said with the scrum after he was like, you know, it was a joy when I turned around. I saw four other guys and my team in there with them. So obviously the guys have his back, right? They will go to battle for them. They played with them or whether you knew they're not. He's got the respect throughout the league. So I think like they'll play with a guy that's made a trade request. Like, have you guys? I don't ever remember doing having a guy read the awkward though, right? Honestly, I feel like if a guy was like, I want to be traded. And you're in the middle of a game and the middle of battle. It's like, he's with you right now. Like unless he's blatantly dogging it, which you could see quite obviously, Larkin wasn't. I don't feel like there's like room for, for, for any like, wary or panic about what this guy's doing because you're just all like pulling the same rope and in that six, six, six, five minute game quotes though after the game where he's like, this was their chance to let him hear it. Like basically like express your feelings against him. Kind of like have at it. Go ahead. I do think that when yeah, but here's my opinion on that though. Okay. So Marie Cider, I'm gonna, I'm gonna go on hockey DB right now. Marie Cider. He's been a Detroit Red Wing. This is his sixth season. Okay. And I would say, I don't know if I want to call it a home pound discount. I think that Marie's at the time he signed for fair value coming out of his entry level contract. Yeah, it was a good deal. He hasn't been there for fucking 11 seasons like Dylan Larkin waiting and waiting and waiting. Like he wasn't there. When, when Dylan Larkin wave goodbye to Zetterberg and Datsuke, there were some years where he was fucking leading the team and scoring with like 60 fucking points. And there was nobody else. So he does that for whatever, four, five years during this rebuild, they get Marie Cider, they get Lucas Raymond and they he's waiting, waiting, waiting. And still, if we want to go over the same stuff from last podcast, they haven't signed a, a, a, a big time free agent. You hear now that they try to sign Stamcoes to fucking help out to get a guy who can tuck your 35 40 goals. Unless you're posh asking you think the guys washed up. They haven't brought anyone in. They haven't really got, they haven't gotten like people defended the goal-tending situation. They don't have a number one goal tender. I don't think they've had a number one goal tender since he's been there. He, at this point, he has a right to be frustrated. Absolutely. Like that's, I don't, like I wasn't following it as closely early on where like I'm on larkin side now. Like I'm 100% on larkin side. And you're saying it talked to Cider in five years that they still haven't made the
I think you're gonna feel about it like I don't know when you're a player coming in like obviously when you first start You're just trying to make it right and then once you make it a year or two three years Then you're trying to make as much money as you can and then it gets to a point like I need to win I want to win I need to stay on the cup So then you're thinking about that a probably year eight nine like he and then he goes and wins an Olympic goal He's probably like fuck like I'm on the back nine of my career I've already you know wasted away 10 11 years here. It's time to make a move and I respect them for Gibbon And like he didn't do it to them right before training camp He did it during the summertime to give them You know fair enough time to make it happen and they haven't got it done So I'm with you. I'm on his so it's kind of funny So I don't want to say that I've been in the situation because I it happened in junior I was drafted to the North Bay centenials our first year there. We ended up making the playoffs like Got in like we're the last seed. We got swept by Saint Mike's we're out in four games the next year We were sold to Sagina. I think we won 12 games that year. It was it was a hard year like you draft here That was my draft year luck luckily for me And this I guess you can kind of compare to Larkin I got to go to under 18 at the end of summer before entering my second year We got to win the gold medal so I came in that season on a high Got to play in the top prospects game that year at the end of that year because we didn't make playoffs I got to go play under 18 world championships with guys like Ryan Getzloff We an unreal team that was when I played OV for the first time first game in the out the hat trick They won they beat a six three in my first game international world juniors against OV at a hat trick as well Okay, oh dude. He was a I couldn't believe as a as a 16 year old world juniors and Halifax and he's two years younger Yeah, so it was 83's and 84's he was an 85 and just lit us up first game so my so so that what I just described the year I won both under 18's that was my second year, but we only won 12 games with Sagina the following year We were dog shit again Bottom of the barrel didn't make playoffs. I wonder you were a mess off the ice So no, I wasn't I wasn't drinking a lot. Okay. I was actually Started when you yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. I got some money in the bank and I was living on my own and fucking live with Dan Karsillo and Stephen Dixon and I went off the rails But my fourth year junior was my last year and by then buddy I've been fighting trying to lead stick it up for my teammates try to lead by example I would always work my bag off and practice where I Became a little bit of emotionally unattached because I was sick of losing and I'd had enough of it and I knew Mike Fuda Because he was the GM of under 17 and just kept in touch with them because I played under seat a 17 with them for team Ontario and they were trying to trade for me and bring me over to own sound to the point where my teammates and the organization knew it and They were a little bit pissed and kind of turned on me and like I remember like a couple guys in the team were a little bit bitter But I'm like you guys haven't been here for the for the four years of hell like I've been fighting for all of you And I'm still fighting for all you and drop in the midst and get my axe kicked by guys like Brendan Prost So that was I went through three and a half years of junior and I got to that point So Larkin who took a team-friendly deal and was battling with Iserman and how cheap Chris illige with Not even wanted to pay him for what he'd done at that point as their first line center to now getting to this point where That's where why I'm sympathizing for him ten years of putting up with this and then to say I've been here through this rebuild and with the money that the in the valuations of these teams and being an original six You guys can't even fucking buck up and go over pay a guy like Stephen Stamcoast to bring him in or bring in the other free agents in What are they at in the salary cap right now there? I think they spend the least of any team right now Like how is that even possible and Edvincen's okay? Edvincen's not and what did they get 16 million cap space just right now and or what are they on what are they as far as what They're spending. Oh, it's 60 mill. They'll have next season. Okay, and where are they as far as spending throughout the whole lead right now as far as We're there might be one or two teams that are spending less amount of money than them Yeah, and it would be the two teams you expect the Vancouver Calgary Seattle Kraken. Yeah, well, I'll tell you There you go. Why are you not paying Edvincen's crazy? Why are you not paying because you know, the hork is he has handcuffed He's he's an interim gym so he can't Ownershift. This is ownership. Yes. That's not to do. So you can't even make decisions right now if you fans want a boo Your bootership. I was well, that's why they said sell the team that's booing the ownership No booing larkin no the Edvincen contract offer. I heard it was insulting like fully in that where he went from being and this is a very good source went from being very Okay, we'll figure this out. He's paying for his own insurance to come practice the team Contract offer came in and he was so upset with it that it was like alright Give him back to see during the larkin game that auto a game I actually started thinking about Winnipeg and hella buck and shout out Winnipeg dude because they look great so far. Yeah They had a big win against Colorado on Wednesday night. I think that was Colorado's first loss They won on a Kyle Connor second goal of the game with a minute left Which was a sick pass by Shifley and an unreal release Kyle Connor is so fucking nasty. It was crazy thinking about How he didn't play a huge role with the team USA and four nations or Olympics That's how like loaded they were but that guy is such a good goal score And I was like fuck I wonder and Stewart Skinner look great in that game. Yeah, and I was like I wonder if hella bucks like Sea in larkin go the opposite route And like almost like fuck should I have like just gone and played and waited out tells trade they still would have known It's it's it's an interesting conversation right because you're seeing a guy that did the same thing You did on the same gold medal winning team is you and On a very similar actually even a better team friendly contract with hella buck who now is sitting at home And it's a lot easier bizz you mentioned that Anton Carter said when he sat out yeah with the Bruins the Bruins weren't scoring They weren't playing while so it's like all right and an notoriously cheap team at that Yes, yes, yes, and um and shuttle Bruins ownership I think said will they will spend to the cap no matter what the cap is I saw that the other day, but um Now hell books sitting around a Winnipeg looks good and the team vibes there seem high and and I just kind of feel I don't want to say I feel for him right like he made a decision and I respect that About the sponge bob square pants mean the guy looking through the filter at the body's house. Yeah, you watching the leaves Yeah, I mean, it's it's something where it's like oh shit like now I miss playing the game I love I'm not getting paid the team looks great When am I gonna get traded? So I think larkin dealing with what he's dealing with but at least being in the lineup and battling Is a lot easier than what hell bucks going through right now and who knows when he ever gets traded because the longer Winnipeg plays like this The longer it's gonna take the deal and the less they'll get right for him. Yeah, he's sitting out happy We're larkin in my opinion is three more years is the the the price is probably going up a little bit And just to go back to like the the my last year junior like this sums it up to I've had 28 games in sagna that year Half the year a goal six assist minus 19 the second half the year 35 games two goals 11 assists 13 points plus 20 so larkin He probably wants to go to a place like it was like the Olympics where it's like yeah Everybody's carrying their own weight like we're winning things are a little bit easier You just grow tired over time and going back to you comparing the situations like larkins elevating his stock where Helibuck man. That's a lonely feeling. Oh, you're dude. You're a little bit envious. What and larkin's get paid. That's another one. No, I know now Trade proposal because now two teams Boston and LA people have been rumbling and kicking tires on maybe those two teams might land larkin I feel like mate like what a byfield for larkin straight up get it done I think LA's kind of nuts for that at the age and what is what is the deal by field It's somewhat close to larkin, right? Yeah, I think it's around seven or eight. No, I thought he signed a bridge Well, well, I'll say I'll say this. I've seen and locally in Boston with like people saying how much they want larkin And how zack his names possibly like on the trade blog and they don't want to have to pay him what he wants So and this is in Bruins fan every fan base in the league Wants guys and then you bring up what you'd have to send back to them and they're like no, no, no, no It's like you're never getting a player like the Bruins like we can't trade haggins we can't trade the turno We can't it's like well boys like you're not fucking getting larkin then that's and this isn't just Bruins fans You have to be willing to part with like legit assets that you plan as being in your future To get a player like Dylan larkin So I guess I could see him fitting in there. Is that a team he's willing to go to? Sockup makes perfect sense to go back the other way too. He's making four mill right now. He's 29 years old scored 30 goals last year Yeah, but then they traded have to sign up, but you can sign him right why wouldn't yeah, that's probably a guy who would if he would want a sign there Yeah, I mean he'll take an eight nine million dollar. Yeah, I would see you fake. He's you a fake. Yeah, I would imagine so That I think you would have to he would have to agree to sign before like in the mix of the trade and like I don't think zackus turning down like if they're offering them like a good number and like the agree Seven eight million range like I mean like if you're saying they're alligator under won't even offer stamp coast money You think they're gonna offer Zaka eight million. Well, I think that maybe they they'll smarten up and understand that the leagues in a Completely different place now, and if you want to foster somewhat of a decent squad like you're just gonna have to buck up and
Once again, going back to the Larkin situation, I was just comparing mine in the sense of like, I think at this point he just wants a little bit more help and if they're not willing to get it, he doesn't want to keep burning these. He's got what, three, four years of prime hockey left in him and then it's Kaputs. I would say that the guy deserves to be able to go on a bit of a run here. Yeah. And I don't think he sees the light at the end of the tunnel with a team who's now trying to nickel and dine their star defenseman when they have fucking $60 million in cap space next year. Where else are you going to spend it? You ain't going to go sign a free agent because nobody even wants to go there anymore. What for each. What? What is the, did you see the player of the game, Winnipeg's giving out? You know, every team has their own. Yeah. What is that? So I saw something, they did like a bonding trip before and it was like a ropes course type thing. They did like a trush jump. They climbed up this huge totem pole and jumped off. They had to like say something they were leaving behind and then say something that they wanted to bring to their team. So I think it's just tying in that like what they did in the beginning of the year and it's like how they give it to two players. They give it to one and he picked. Yeah. It's a support guy. I like that. Yeah, because in the jump, like you needed guys holding the role. It's like it represents pulling people into the fight. Yeah. And and and with the team who including us was like brutal. Yeah. Gonna be horrible. Like they are like fuck everyone. Yeah. So that is kind of a cool. You're welcome. You know, player of the game award or two girls for the motivation. There you go. The good stories with power, obviously. And then the cold prophetic. We talked about him. Yeah. He needs to have that year. He's got three goals, three assists. Yeah. Four games. So shout out to him having a good year. But did you guys see the the oath? No. Was it OT winner? The Conor's goal was no. It was the end of the regulation. But Camel Macara pinched in and McKinnon covered for him and shifly knew. He was like a shark with blood in the water. He knew it was a forward. So it just takes him forwards. Just can't skate backwards. I don't understand it. Got him in deep and then made a great pass and caught like you guys said early. Conor man. That you can just score. Yeah. So with that said, I don't know if we had Winnipeg on the no watch list, but we're definitely not only going to have to show the more respect, but they have been entertaining to watch. And any team led by Lowry, you know that I mean, going back to their team award thing at the end of the game. He's like, he's going to drag him in the fight. I hope they're able to get a good return for hella buck because all of a sudden, that makes things interesting for them. If they're getting goal, good goal, turning from from Stewart Skinner, Stu Chains was unreal. Last game. Oh, yeah. So did you hit their chant in his name, Stu? It might be one of those things like Edmonton might be the new Philly where like any goalie, like you just can't be good there. Yeah, he turned it. It was too hard on them. I don't know what it is. Where? Yeah, that's it. Levi looks incredible. Levi does look the second coming your grant here. The hell you guys talking on sample size. Don't even make me talk Edmonton right now because all these Edmonton haters out there are fucking in shambles. Let me tell you that's for sure. With the no watch list discussed quickly, let's let's what would it be a top three list or a top five, I would say top three right now. Yeah, three you got Calgary Seattle. You got Seattle scores, but like still kind of there for me. Vancouver is now. Yeah, they're on. No, no, they're watch. They're watch the watch after their first two games versus Edmonton. They got off. You know, if you know who I have no desire watching is I don't love watching the Kings for some reason. I I'm not saying that that they'll be there forever. It's just like a team that's on that I like watch a panarin, but I don't know. I would say Seattle Calgary with no bad art. I got Chicago on the Chicago is a bad club right now. And quickly I want to mention we obviously after discussing Bauer on Winnipeg would would have loved to have him on. I'm just going to read you a letter. He wrote us when we asked him that. I'm honored that somebody wrote. He said to the crew over at chicklets. Guys, I want to reach out personally and say thank you for the invitation to come on the show exclamation point. Like so many others. I've been a fan for a long time and love tuning in. It's been a whirlwind of a few days and weeks for me. And although I would love to come chat, I also want to focus on the opportunity in front of me and get on some solid ground at the NHL level first. Hopefully there will be many more times the chat in the future. Appreciate you big bows. And I respect the hell out of that. The guys just coming in pounding people's heads. He wrote it. I think the exclamation point got me. He's not an exclamation point. I just look ahead. I don't know punctuation. Bows doesn't know punctures. But I said it last pod. Go to hockey fights and go watch this guy scraps in the minors. Just he's a nail gun and a very, very entertaining. You don't often see guys scrap like that in the new, the new wave of guys that want it every night. Yeah. He's like he was hungry and he's getting teams gonna be hungry to have him with you. If you're playing like that, you can do the job in your own zone. Somebody said, mark the date. They got Montreal coming up. And a jack guy, him and jack guy, which jack guy. Now there's two of them. I wouldn't be shocked if Bows fights both of them in one game. I would be of the Milano trick. I would shock truck October 25th. Okay. That's number third. Right. That's soon. Oh, so I'll get one one game and then one the next. So Florida goes out West, you know, to start the year and we talked barcov, right? Great news. Great news for Panthers and their fans six to eight weeks. I believe it was. Yeah. So no surgery. That's awesome. It could be earlier. It could be later. They don't know. Okay. But either way is not he's not gone for the year. That's great news. And then you're watching them play and I thought Marshaan blew out his ACL, MCL, PCL. That looked horrible driving in the net. Left knee gets caught under them. But same thing. I think six to eight weeks. They came out and said, right? Today, I'm not sure. I'd six to eight weeks, potentially. If it's M third degree MCL, that's both six to eight weeks. But in terms of both guys where you're watching, you're like, you just lose those two guys for the year. It's good news. And maybe, maybe in a way, with the run, we think they can go on. Those guys are a little bit more rested. Grant, you're coming back and playing certain games left by the time they come back. Pretty jogging. The, the Marci one was one of those ones like. Oh, David, look at the Barkey one. It was just like a weird fall. I could watch at the Marci one. And then the way he was down, like I, I imagine in his head, he thought it was way worse. So both of those guys getting the news that it's best case scenario. I mean, that's huge for them personally, huge for the Panthers and huge for the game. And another storyline there would be like, we talk about Winnipeg, no Hellebach. They're bonded together. Ottawa, you know, Brady leaves. That's that's a way that their room's like, Hey, he didn't want to be here. Kind of fuck everyone. Same. But auto and Winnipeg are similar in a way. And Brady, I'd say like, not the best start for him. I think he's probably upset with how it's going. But at the same time you've been a captain somewhere and all of a sudden, you're in a new new city. Yeah, you're with your brother and you're with this great team. But it's going to take a little time. Like I'd be shocked at the end of the year. It doesn't have 30 goals. But I can also see how at the beginning, like every game that goes before you get not only a goal, but a point is probably like a little stressful on him. Body, we're fucking sitting here five, on the pod five days ago talking about McKenna feeling the media pressure from Toronto and everybody talking about that. Then he gets a assist on a on a breakout pass. And then next time you know, we're talking about him, we're in the call there after he scores that goal with with Poppy in the sleepover. So let's pump the brakes adjusted to a new team. They got a little bit of adversity here going at the start of the year exactly when you want it to be happening. Yeah. Yeah. I don't think people realize how difficult it is coming into a new team. And obviously I would imagine coming into a team that's one Stanley cops majority of those guys have been together. He's probably delegates hip towing around like he needs to assert himself on. I don't know. Obviously what's going on the locker room. But be the guy that he is. Obviously he's there for a reason. He's an unbelievable, but you don't want to step on toes. You're saying, yeah, I can see that. You're always like delegating because like this is their guy's locker room. They've done it. They've won. I don't want to come in here and disrupt things. I just want to to fit in. But you're saying eventually there becomes a point where it's just like, no, you were a captain of an NHL team for a reason. 100% crowd the bull by the horns. And let's fucking go, baby. And, hey, man, like we're five, I think they're five games in after that four game road dripper, right? And they start on the road. Like I bet a nice home game will be huge for him. Get playing in front of the crowd that you're going to be playing in front of for the next, you know, hopefully eight years. But, uh, yeah, I see no doubt those guys. Like you say, the cream always rise to the top. Like he is, uh, he will be completely fine. Guys, before we go any further, I got to talk to you about recess. Oh my goodness. You should see the jersey that they gave me. This thing is absolutely stunning. And I am so honored at the fact that not only are they the presenting sponsor, but they sent over a couple boxes of the best candy on the planet. I had ten of those boxes sent to my house. Buddy, okay. How many are, how many are each box? Well, I get 10. So I can be handing these things out for Halloween. I'll be the coolest guy in my neighborhood for handing out the peanut butter cops. The greatest candy ever invented. I mean, also a little fumble, uh, we were talking about it earlier, an ET, the fact that another candy company didn't want to be in the movie. Reese's stepped in and they were the candy that were put on the floor to lead the alien to them and all the sudden boom, they become the coolest brand on the planet as best as them. - Recess pieces, like. - Recess pieces, boys.
everyone knows them everybody go after that moment, everybody knew him. And once again, I talk about how I get it in my blizzard for anyone out there looking to give away the perfect Halloween candy. Make sure you go get a box yourself and be the coolest guy in the neighborhood. So another thing to thank you to them for sponsoring chicklets cup as well. It's going to be an amazing weekend. We're going to be handing these bad boys out there as well. And the official candy partner of barstool sports, go get Reese's wherever you stop right now. You stop, go get a Reese's. Mike Roof saw the great reporter for the wild. He did a radio interview in which he was talking about Brock favor they were asked. And he said, I'm not going to say what's going on until they kind of reported, but it wasn't it wasn't a minor thing. No granted. Like he had a fracture in his skull. So right away, you don't think it's minor. But I think there's some stuff that that makes that pretty scary. And it hasn't really been released. But there was a lot of other things going on. So we had Brock favor on. I ran into him the summer. Awesome guy. Incredible player kind of want to show him out. Hope everything's all right. Hope this is something that that he can he can come back from sooner rather than later because the way Mike Russo was talking about it did not did not sound good at all. So kind of thinking of him. But the wild look good until they went to Buffalo Wednesday. Was it Wednesday or Tuesday night. Buffalo came back one that game. The third period of the Sabers were incredible. I think they high danger scoring chances eight to one 16 to four chances. Like they just turned it on in that building. They've been doing that. I think they did that against Chicago to the game back as well. And I was reading. I think it was an article in the athletic about guys who signed before the gold rush of this year. And one of them I forgot about stage Thompson makes seven million dollars. He scored a goal in that wild game. He has four more three more three or four more seasons after this one. Making seven. It's like a whole. But you know what? He had a good quote about it. He's like, listen, like if yeah, if I was making a two more million a year, like tons of money, but I saw my dad play forever and he's on one year deals and the miners and like the fact I got security and life changing money. Like I don't really second guess or think about it a lot where I think like some people are thinking of players that are making that are so underpaid with the new salaries and they must be rattled. I don't think a lot of these guys are like there's still he has $50 million and he gets a play in a place. He loves and it's it is a weird conversation though that you've seen some guys who have signed and now are like holy shit. But I think more often than not, they're like dude. They're all timing. Yeah, the good news is he'll get taken care of coming out of this while he's 32 though. I looked okay. No, no, you're right. He should be able to sign up a huge ticket again. Yeah, I should probably get to sign a three year deal. Yeah, I get close to 80 90 million. But also from from an opportunistic standpoint to win. Yeah. You got donor making seven million. You got Benson making seven million. You got him making seven. Own powers makes eight. The only guy making serious money. There's Dahlene. So probably opens them up to be able to go get a guy like hella buck or bring in some other free agent. So yeah, it does it does suck that he didn't cash in. It's kind of like when Nate signed his deal out of his entry level. Yeah, where he where he wasn't as confident and hadn't put up those those enormous seasons. Own power and power all the way. Awesome. He's been fucking ridiculously. Yeah, he thinks great. Just going back to the contracts. I feel like it's happened so quick, right? Like usually it was like whatever. Say a guy signed a eight year deal, like year six and seven. They're somewhat underpaid. But this it just seems like it was immediately for this summer in three months. It's like, oh my god, the new league minimum is five million. Like look at Utah. By the way, one of the nastiest power plays. You said this already a little trotter. Smalls. He signed was eight times eight. Oh my god. He got the extra year. And I think that he really liked playing with those guys. He'd already signed a pretty decent deal. I think he'd originally signed it in Chicago. But yeah, that's a guy where like, yeah, like let's say this upcoming offseason was his free agent signing year. Like he's getting like seven times 11 or 12. Yep. And right. I think he's what? 29 or 30. Yeah. I thought he was a little younger. So signing an eight year deal at close to 30 is pretty legit. Oh, it's nice. And I mean, like I said, I think that he's a type of guy where, you know, they're they're starting to have to take care of Kels. He's not exactly cool. He cool. He makes 11. So yeah, I think he probably left a million a year on the table. But I think I think I think he's he's more of those guys were at least you didn't sign it where he's in Detroit. So funny enough. Their power play last year until the Olympic break was one of the worst PPs in the league. No way. They came back from Olympic break. They were second in the league for the rest of the regular season and then went one for 16 in the playoffs. So I think bringing in Andrews Lee and Troach was brought part of that. It's like, Hey, now, great. I think they're both second unit. Yeah. But like that just adds a little more help on the power play that did fail them in the playoffs. Internal pressure. Oh, you're not fucking exactly. You're not good in front of the net. Well, we got Andrews Lee. Well, did you see the conversation? What's their coach's name? Tyrent. Andre tourney. Oh, the text message with Logan Kooley. Yeah. He's like, oh, we're, we're, we're signing, we're signing Andrews Lee, but the only way he's going to sign here is if he's on first power play. Like jokingly said, no, Andrews Lee said that to him. And then he goes, I'll fight him for it. And then I guess during the captain's gates, he saw him with like a shirt off and like text to turn he back. He's like, Hey, I take that back. I'll fight him. Even though he said it's in like internal competition. That's a great thing to have on a team. But Utah's fun to watch. They watched their power play. I think every, so they've, they've, through the first four games, they have eight power play goals. I think it's clicking just over 60%. And I bet you on six of those goals, five guys on the ice touch the pocket before it goes in the net. Just to the ref. Yeah, the right. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, just snapping it through seams. I just like they get the two one timers, right? They got Kels one timer. Yeah, surrogatech have up top Gunther's one timer. He's down very cool, coolly out front. Like I love having the two one timers. And then when you have a bumper guy like that, like that power play in surrogatech have is he is silky up there. And he does a really good job. He's not just shoot. He just does those sifters in. Like he gets it through. That's, you know, but he's always looking to make the past to the one timers. Because he can shoot it too. He can't roll. He's going to end the AU for sifters. I think it's, I think it's shooting is last case. You know, like that's his last option. I think he's he'd rather pass it. The Leafs boys. What a night. What a night at home against Nashville. They go down three nothing. They come back. They win it over time. Matthews gets four points. And McKenna gets a assist. You mentioned that already. And then his goal was nasty. I mean, that is a sick release bar down. He does get the best pictures. He texted the group. He had the outdoor game picture against Michigan state at Penn State. And then that picture of Matthews behind them, him down on the one knee. That was a great first goal celebration. But that might be the greatest first goal picture of all time. I think that we're going to get called out on that one. There's got to, there's got to be other ones. There's not a way that the cameras are now. You might be right. But the Leafs, when I heard, when I heard about that slumber party sleepover, that was the party. So he's living with Tavares, correct? Yeah. And they had them all at the podium, all the first overall picks, GT, Matthews and Gavin after the game. And I think there was and Stamco scored in that game. So that would be four. Thirst overall picks score in that game. Stamco's passed, I think, again, and sackic in all time goals. So he keeps doing a good job to Troy. Good job, Pasha. Pasha, by the way, the devils might be frauds. I'm telling you, buddy. I'm, I'm, we're done talking about the Leafs. Oh, no, no, what? Hey, I don't know what you want to say. Just going to say sad. You are. I was here. That was like, that was a tough night for you. That was a tough night. That was like a fun night to be a Leafs fan. Yeah. But like you said, the week before, it was like sending back the college, like what he's not ready for the NHL. And then boom, you get one and one, all right, let's play in the parade. Oh, that is cis. That was a greatest. That's a way to cis. Just a little four foot touch pass. Yes. And then the guy goes end to end and you're like, yes, I'll never forget. I got one of those in New York. It was like one of the first shifts and we were playing Phoenix versus New York. And I made the little pass like that and come to the bench after business. Like how nice is that getting a point first shift? Now you can just shut it down. I'm like, what can't just shut it down? Oh, you're not going to untie your skates. Hey, I, so I like there's more important shit to talk about. There's lots of positive news around the league. The devil's it's I don't burger. There's nothing to talk about. I would say the devil's the devil's like it started to worry about the goal. You see how can't see you to the fire keef chance? What's that? I'll close you to the fire. Sheldon keef chance. You got to give them at least five more games. Okay. Oh, nice of you. Yeah. Yeah. I would say like going back to the AJ stuff and obviously she was great in the way she handled it. I feel like things are a little tense around the devil's team. I feel like there's there's a little tension there. I could believe that Utah tweeted out a picture of plastic cutlery. That's what's up. They're actual team account after they beat devil's. That was that that was a little I was like wow. Okay. I'm also hearing rumblings that the new jersey the new jersey devil's PR.
Like we're like mad and they like gone upset with her and like you know called her like we're like holy fuck devils get it together man if that's what you're worried about I don't think that the teams were talking about right now. It's been three fucking games. It's just a complete nothing burger. There's other league The rangers lose their first three games exact all our last year. You're saying frauds. They're the worst team to ever exist. So why is it any different when so great question. Yeah. Well because they're not oh and three they're one and two the process under the hood has been solid like they're not getting completely trounced. And I'm just not fucking worried about it. Does it concern you to be worried if in five would either record through 10 games that has you worried if through 10 games. They're like four and six. I'm worried. Okay. All right. I think you're right. Lockied. All right. All right. So that means that in the next seven they need to win more than three games. Yeah. For sure. Okay. Okay. All right. And then you'll come back on and maybe maybe address. Oh yeah. Well, it's of the fan base. Yeah. And they're not having a goalie and all they have goalies. Okay. Okay. Okay. Does it does a concern you that date McCray is dropping a new album in the upcoming weeks here called the quote unquote housewife. And it's about a woman who can't be contained. Uh, I don't know if that has any relation to the devil's or Jack, but let's say. Well, Jack can't be contained either. Jack can be contained. And I'm pretty sure that cool cylinders are popped off after she put out that album about him. So. Well, thank you, Tate. So Pasha, you're next. You're next three. You got to win. Yeah, they're playing the con on auto a Detroit. And then you got the Rangers. Okay. So that's four straight wins right there. All right. I think PD's going to put on a show against them. Yeah. But you guys want the biggest lock bet, ever? Yes. Paul Carter score on Saturday against the devil's back. Oh yeah. And he's funny. And he's hot. I'm an okay. Okay. I know. I think you guys gave him up for a bag of pox. Oh bet. That actually that's probably a good time to mention draft Kings hockey's back. And from the first puck drop to the final horn. We asked jt miller because I think rangers fans got a kick out of his text to us saying what the fuck are you losers going to talk about now. So we want to quote every episode or maybe once a week from him he said you guys suck it golf your suck it podcasting and you can suck every guy in the rangers dick. I actually made up that quote. He didn't. He was thinking that he wouldn't give us one but that sounds like he's I broke his car with him. I think he was thinking that but he said I can't force a quote so when I have a quote to give you as we keep rolling I'll let you know. So so we are on we are on like the quote we're on the loser watch from rangers fans if they keep going as somebody who's recently single as far as like NHL teams. I'm I'm getting a little tingly feeling for the New York Rangers dude and and they were your original and you can go again dickhead over there that we just have. Yeah, but it was like maybe it was one of those like you kind of like secretly like them like when you're like when you're like in grade school. And you're like you're like mean and like that's like the front you're putting on where you actually have feelings for them yeah. And and you pulled their hair. I won't go too much into detail there was something. I've done that. There was something I said in the last podcast that we had to delete. And let's just say that I'm being poached by something within the organization to try to join force like you like to tell you all and early like high up in the Or just into the pot early you might have heard. They may or may not have something to do with getting guys like JT Miller paid. That's all I'm going to say. Okay. Okay. Okay. But and we can't go into this in detail. I can't I basically signed a verbal NDA that that's that's all I can talk about right right now. At least at this point. So how close are you to signing your deal with the Rangers is being a fan? And do they do Rangers fans? Do you want him? Are you kidding me? They love chaos. They fucking love me. I can't see them wanting you. But I can I can see you being in the mix and in NYC. I want a regional six. It could be like a it could be a friends with benefits type of like you never know. Okay. Okay. I need to be like a forever thing. It could just be like you're not going to say I love you. It could be like like a like a Jacob Allority and Kendall Jenner type thing where they're just you know just. Two people that are vibing that are fucking hard. And and you know we're in the we're in the media mix and this is y'all we're here to fucking move the numbers right. Okay. Okay. That's fair. We're here to make we're here to make content. Maybe. I mean I think you're as close to coming back as an NHL player as you are and being in good graces with NY. Rangers ownership. But he's got I've been verbal many times before verbal NDA. I know. I know. But God knows he does not live by the ring. He does not live by NDA. No. Like he. Biss times NDA. That is a complete piece of toilet paper. Like they will say anything at any time. Hell. The Rangers are like like the bar star girl where like you know she'll bring you home and she'll like bend you over. She'll give you the rusty trombone. Okay. She'll do whatever like mascara dripping. This might not help your your your you don't you don't want to like marry the bar star. Right. It's just it's going to be a fling. It's going to be fun. But maybe don't lock it and like three years in the marriage. She's still going out three nights a week. And then you're back home. Like you have a fake boob on your feet. You're a giant. There's an NBA player in a pound. She doesn't come home that night. A booze giving her a concussion in the wrapper. Pretty similar to you. So you know, maybe I'll end up on a paywall with that. Let's let's throw it over to our guy Swaggy P. I kind of want to hear about Swaggy P's life and a sneaky nasty hockey player coming up. Keith witnessed it in person. So right now Swaggy P. This man dangles. I believe he was just picked up by memes on the road in the seaport in his role of blame. Refused. No surprise there. Swaggy P with going on, buddy, abs just hop. He was offered a ride, but he said, no, I will roll a blade next to the car. You know who's trying to pick them up? Who bang guy? Oh, Jesus. Who's that bang? You don't know bang guys? No. Well, we haven't talked about it. Yeah. Gloss banger and Dallas. I think he got his like fourth or fifth dewey. And now I think he's going to go to the clink for a long time. So he needs the wheel. He's going to be rollable. He needs a wheel. We can get him a pair. We got to get him. We'll get a few size pair, bowler skates, and we'll get him going. You're a bowler guy all through and through. I mean, what they have done for me, like going through it. And like, I mean, I don't know if that was story, but I faked it till I made it. Like I was buying my own sticks, posting, being like, look at this new stick, I got from bowler and, you know, fine. He were giving him free advertising, free advertising, like just happy to be doing it or whatever, you know, scratching the bank account to get new sticks. And I got a phone call. I remember it so clearly. I was on the ice. And I pick it up at 603, 603 number. They're like, hey, is this Pete? Oh my god. They're like, oh, sorry, who from bowler sending you stuff? And I was like, am I in trouble? They're like, no, no, you're not trouble. What we'd like to talk about, kind of like a former, like a formal partnership. And I was like, man, what a crazy. That's on grown up, you know, seeing all the brands and stuff. And, you know, when you're in the cheese, you know, like these coasts, yeah, ain't no one calling you asking what sticks you want, right? They're like, hey, you want to be 92, sir, I'm a lefty. They're giving you. They're giving you gas station twigs, you know, for fucking Canadian tire. So you played in the coast? Yeah, playing wheeling. Okay. Okay. No shit. They had the biz bobblehead night. And they're like, no chance we get them here. And I don't think you ended up making it. No, I got in called up. I didn't get that point. Or was I playing done playing? I believe. Yes. Okay. Wow. And they and they brought it back for the. Was it the bobble fist? You know what? It was a long time ago. And I'm not sure if it was the bobble fist. But you were there was still a lot of jerseys with your name on the back. And so he's the city dude. Oh, yeah, I did get the cutest city. And then I lost it. But I didn't even leave this. I can get you what three, four places. What's all there is there? Oh, the one strip. Yeah. That's a Washington. Now that's where we all lived. Yeah. There are three of the four houses there. So where did you grow up playing swaggy Vermont? Yep. Born and raised in Vermont. Back there now had a year. Where are you? 86. Okay. So I played against Swaggy growing up. No shit. Oh, yeah. Yes, Swaggy. I think that so many people are like, you're so well known now on Instagram and the skills. I don't know my name, right? So that's the thing that just goes by. Swaggy. So like when they try to promote something and they put my real name on my guys. I can't use that. Nothing. You know, I'm not peeing anymore. No, no, exactly. And they're like, you know, then it's like, where did you get your name? I'm like, man, I like style. I like that stuff. But like, you know, it is like the just the straight name is like, that's not the promotion. Who gave you Swaggy P? I was in college, man. Always trying to like Chris Myers. And so yes, he was. He's a good guy to know now. I lost in golf, you know, but yeah, just always trying to outdo myself and stuff. And they're like, man, what are you? Swaggy P? Like kind of a joke. And I'm like, I like that. I'm gonna stick with it. You know, I'll stick with it. I like that. So for people who don't know, can you kind of give your back, your backstory on, I guess growing up playing how good of a player you were at table, correct? You played, yeah, one to two years at table. So even sorry before like, Vermont isn't known, or especially back then, was known as like a hockey hotbed kids coming out. So I even go back to your growing up playing. Yeah, I mean, like I was telling Biz before, I mean, my dad's from Austria. He's a mountaineer, you know, he climbed big mountains and stuff and big time skier, mom from Connecticut lived in Florida for a majority of her life. So there was no hockey background in our family. My cousin was, you know, played hockey. I'll put it that, you know, he wasn't great or anything. And I just fell in love with it. And I mean, it pissed my parents off so much because Saturdays were our ski weekend, you know? And then when that started to get cut short and stuff and, and you know, they were like, man, like we don't know anything about it. We don't know. But if like that's your passion, we'll provide. But like I said before, it's like my dad was like, just work hard. That's it. As long as you do that, I'll take you. I'll get up in the morning, take you to the games. But there was zero pressure from my parents because they actually, I mean, it's not that they didn't want me to. But they were like, we can do other things if you don't play hockey, right? Go on different family vacations. You know how the, you know, winter vacations are and stuff. We have tournaments all the time. So it was, you know, happy to watch you play and enjoy it. But if whenever you say like, hey, this isn't for you, no, no worries. Were you doing the pond hockey stuff? Oh, I mean, for mom, we always didn't. And the winner doing it. Talk about global warming or whatever it has gotten better. The last couple winters. But yeah, a lot of pond hockey. Just, you know, we had a little spot in our backyard that kind of flooded and then would freeze. And then when I was about nine, my dad started making an outdoor rink. So he'd go out in his full expedition gear. You know, like you could be in like 40 minus, you know, like that. And he's just watering the ring. No idea what he's doing. Bumps everywhere. So I can't figure this out. And oh my god. So it was, it was probably helped your hands going. Yeah. Bumpy ice. Yeah. Potentially. Yeah. What got you to Taber? Cause I know Taber's down Cape Cod in from Vermont. Like, how did you even hear about it? That was their coaches scouting you to try to get you to go to preps school? I think I reached out. So my original plan was I wanted to leave. Like, when I was younger, I was, I was a pretty overweight kid, you know, and like, not did the lot of the show Bowen standing from the net, not move. My dad's like, this is outrageous. Like, you stand there, you bear one home and then your massive sellies. You know, you got the OV hot hands sell it from a mountain ear who's used to trek in like, you know, exactly thousands and thousands of steps. You know, he's like, you got to put in the work, you know, like, this is getting ridiculous. So I was like, all right. So then like, as I started to like get more serious, I was like, I got, I got to get out of Vermont, right? Just to, if I want to continue, that was like the thing that we were kind of told in Vermont. If you're still playing after your sophomore year in high school, it's going to get harder and harder to, you know, any of your dreams come true of playing college or whatever. So that I started here and that in the back of my head. And I was like, okay. So I played a couple years of high school hockey. And I was, it was going fine. I was like, I got to get out of here. The biggest problem, I think you can attest to this was grades, right? We had the clearing house. With my SAT score that I knew I was going to get, I had no chance of getting in anywhere, right? So I had to jump because it was a sliding scale with GPA versus SAT. So if you couldn't get your GPA high, there's no chance, right? Done. Yeah. So I was like, I need to go focus on that because I was getting some looks now and stuff. But I was like, I mean, I remember was a chowder cup. I think the brown coach came up. I'm like, dude, don't waste your time straight up. It's like, I believe going 70 on my SATs. Like, oh, like, that's what's that? And they're like, you're signing your name. Oh, do you? Yeah. So they're like, on what half? I'm like, both. He's like, you're right. I appreciate your honesty. Yeah. You know, so that was like, okay, I need to go focus smaller classes. You know, they were great with, you know, if you didn't understand an essay going to get extra help and like, really help you push that through. And I was able to get to a point where I would pass the clearing house not by a lot, but that's where it was like, okay, I need to focus. So I went there for two years. And then I was like, okay, grades are good enough. Then I went to the USHL. Obviously with like size being a factor. Is that why you started working on skill work? Or you always that skill? Like, when did you get like so silky with your mitts? Always like that from when I remember. Yeah. But I mean, I think like a lot of people ask me to and stuff. It's just, it's just fun, right? Like, I had yellow labs growing up. I have bulldogs now. And it's just like fun to play with them like that way. Stick handling around. And it's just, it wasn't like, I didn't think I was like, making myself better. It was just what I did with my time. I didn't do video games like we, not that my parents won't buy me one. I just, I couldn't like, I was like, man, I can't do this. You know, so I was always outside playing, playing in the street, playing when the ice froze. So, um, very potentially ADHD kid. And I was just like hockey was my comms spot. Cool. And like, were you like big on like idolizing any cellars or were you just kind of in your own little world? I mean, we had St. Louis and parent at UVM when I was like eight, nine years old. So you would go to the games and stuff? Man, I was a rink rat. Like, I would be down there eating pizza after the game. Like, they're just hanging out and they're like, man, we can't get rid of this kid. So they kind of just took me in, right? Which you always wanted to play that. That was your dream to play there. So a big thing for me was because of my size, people were like, you'd be a pretty good ECAC player, but like probably too small for
hockey east. And I'm seeing these BC guys, you know, Tony Vose, Brian Gianta. No, man, like, that's like the big league, you know, compared to Vermont ECAC school. So I was like, I gotta go, right? Like, like, my dream was then to like be like, no, I can play in hockey east. And so when Vermont ended up turning to hockey, so I'm like, it's too perfect. Yeah. Cause I really wanted to go to Providence bad. Really? Yeah. Real bad. So what Keith says, um, tells the story, Cushing, Taber in the New England's six, five win for Taber. You had eight, seven, eight, seven, you had what six points? I think, I think seven. Holy shit. And that was a, was that actually a game for you that kind of meant a lot, like looking back, like, Holy shit. I just beat one of the best teams and I lit them up. I mean, it, well, it was actually like, kind of surreal because I mean, you talk about, I mean, you, Chris Borg, Boomer, you and Billy Ryan, I mean, that, that's four. I'll bury, right? Like, I think I've looked at that roster and say there was 24 guys, 23 of them went like D1 either hockey and not just like mediocre D1. Like we're talking like, these guys like it up in school. And it was like, I mean, our coach was like, you know, after the game, he was like, if you told, like, if you told me before the game, we were going to go to Cushing and get scored seven, say what, you know, we probably got blown out. And then just like, I mean, it, oh, that was the first round at Cushing, not 75, first round. Yeah. Oh, yeah, Cushing, eight, seven, they had nine shots on that. Oh, in the way. I feel bad. It was crazy. Long ago. Yeah. Keep long. Oh, did he. It's good. It's good. As good as like that game was for us. He had a, that was probably his worst game of the season. Yeah. That was the, we were undefeated that year. We were unbelievable. Oh, no. So your C was over there after that. They were, they were the favorites bar. A billion. Yeah. Like we're talking that that first line lead prep school hockey by like 80 points in like 36 game. I think we played 36 games with playoffs. It was 32. I think without playoffs 30. We played 33 Chris Bork had like 94 points. Billy Ryan had like 86 points. Boomer, you and I'd like 86 points. I had probably like 60 or 70. It was astronomical. Like what they were doing to teams was like insane. And you guys upset them. Yeah. I mean, it was it was one of those US Russia type of thing, you know, out of a hundred times. Yeah. Maybe one. What was your name? Ritter. Yeah. With the switch hand or yeah. It was silly cider. Yeah. Don't tell out the Hank. I know, he never heard that. Yeah. He wanted me dead. That means he's never listened to you talk. You say silly cider all the time. Silly cider. I've never heard that either. No. Yeah. Like when you catch the wrong way. It's all like flops. Yeah. Whatever. Something like that. But yeah. So you went to UVM and then you're in the coast for a little bit. Yeah. Coast. You're up. Coast. A little bit cup of coffee, American league. Okay. And that's what they call Vermont UVM. UVM. The Groovy UV. And what was it? What was it like there? I mean, it was it was, you know, it is one of those things where people are excited that of Vermonters on the team. But with size, hey, maybe they brought them on the team for, you know, because he's a Vermonter and it's good for the fans and stuff. So in the back of my head, it was always, yeah, they're happy for you. But they're really waiting to see if you fail. Right. And I had a hat trick the first game at the gut. So that was like great right here. Great ring. Yeah. Is it awesome? You the Vermont ring? Is it like a cabin? I can see it look like old. Is it nice? It's insane. Kind of like they went and did one at Maine. It's got a man. Okay. So the only difference with Maine is the fans that are over you is pretty cool. Yeah. I think you guys were talking about on the pod trying to hit crossbars to the fair. Yeah. Because they had no netting when we were in school on the on like on the second. They're right on on your on your on the ice. Oh crazy. It was, I mean, I would say besides Maine, the best just college hockey atmosphere when the gut is rocking, it's pretty special. Um, why do they call it the gut? Gunnerson Field House. Okay. Yeah. And then I don't know where the name is. Such a sick name. Yeah. They got the gut. I know. So it was, it was, I mean, every game that I was there in the four years, we sold out every game. So it was just super cool. And each year we kind of got better and better and better and ended up losing to be you in the semis. My senior years, you got to the garden for your senior year in all these plants. No, we got to the garden. My junior year lost a BC in the finals. We made it to the frozen for my senior. Oh, I didn't know. Yeah. And in which words, that's the last trip for them, right? I'm assuming to the frozen for last trip. Wow. It was super cool, though, is when St. Louis and Peron were there. Um, they played. I want to say lakes. No, CC. And it was in Cincinnati. I smelted the ice melted, but it was a hand pass goal that CC scored on. And that rule implemented the video replay in college hockey. And we scored against Air Force. The puck went through the net. So there was a stoppage of like 15 minutes in double overtime that then they counted at a goal because of the video replay that sent us to the frozen for. So it was kind of like a whole circle. And I mean, like we got out of that, like when I was, I must have been in third grade or something. And that was like, there was Vermont's big moment. So we were taking out a school to watch the game and the ice is melting and it's like, what's going on? Yeah. You was playing Michigan. It was delayed like hours in the second day. I think I think the peg guy drilled into the glyphal too. And they were like, at no business, should this be like actually allowed to play postpone it. And they're like, they rolled with it. And it was like, I guess it was slosh. Yeah. So also he hit something. And there was green stuff all over the ice. Yeah. And they, and they, they still played. Yeah. And then they lost an overtime to a controversial, controversial goal. Oh, it's this story with St. Louis. And what was the guy's name? Aaron. Apparently wasn't he supposed to be a Marty was going to go to BU and they didn't want that parent guy. I don't know that story. But they were, I mean, but they Tim Thomas too. Marty was like, all right, I'm out of here and I'll go to UVA with my buddy. UVM. That's how we yeah, I'm sorry. That's how we ended up there. Yeah. How did that frozen for semi final goal? Like I for us. Yeah. I'm not pretty. It was it was up and down. I mean, BU had, I mean, if you look at that squad as well, I think they had like nine guys, was a BC or BU in the, in the story of BU. Oh, okay. Okay. Yeah. In the, in my, our junior year in the finals, it was BC. Oh, okay. We got, yeah, that was all good. Troubles. Well, that was, it was actually funny because the game before us went to triple OT. So they started our game at 11 p.m. against BU. So we BBU, my dear, you're playing the next night too. So you're, well, I am the next at four. Oh, my God. You fucking. And we got shell shocked. I remember it was like three nothing and we didn't, I mean, it was close. It was, yeah, it was a really exciting time for Vermont, but we had no chance to win that game. So you go over and play. I'm really it shouldn't like where your life sat now. When you were done playing pro hockey and you'd been all over the place, did you have any clue what you were going to do? No, I mean, it was something where the, the biggest thing, you know, at that time was like, how do we make a Rob Geard X fantasy factory? No shit. Yeah. So I have a huge love for skateboarding. That's where a lot of the roller street weird style of like videos come from like I just love skateboarding and watching terrible at it. Um, tried when I was younger, just didn't, maybe didn't have the. You were too far. Yeah, yeah, potentially too chubby. And all I wasn't popping enough on the all year, whatever. But yeah, it didn't, didn't work out there. So, um, you know, it was always something like, you know, how hard it is when you guys play for so long and you're in that locker room atmosphere of like trying to think about like a nine to five or something after is like, I mean, just the way I am in my personality, it's like, I wouldn't last. Yeah, I need to find something I'm in charge. Well, it's like, so there was tons of different ideas. Is that like having a storage unit that we have like an office in that we all chill and just collect money or like a cafe? You know, I don't know. It was crazy. It was like, I didn't know because when I was still playing in the coast and come home in the summer, I was doing landscaping and I had my own business and my other buddy Pete. So we call it Pete and Pete. And we would do anything. You know, people would be like popcorn ceiling. They're like, can you do it? I was like, yeah, can do anything. Figure it out. YouTube it. And, and then I'm popcorn ceiling remover, right? And they're like, one of the worst was someone asked us to redo the concrete around the pool. And I was like, oh, yeah, we got this. You just stick handles. Two years later. No, no clue what we were doing. Got the jack camera out start jackhammering everything away, laying concrete. It was wild like no business. So I didn't know if it was like, I love hockey so much and it would be hard for me to continue without playing. Or if it's like, what's next in hockey that could go, right? And it was kind of like, you had no Instagram yet. What year is this? 18, 19, 19, 19, 20. I still had a contract through 20, 2020. Okay. My dad on the building in Vermont. He's like, I'm about to have someone who wants to come and do it as a grocery store. I'm giving you the space, right? Obviously you got paid rent. But if you want to do this little hockey thing, now,
I was your time, I'm not waiting a year. And I was like, okay, Dad, I'm gonna open it. I'm gonna go play and I'll come back. He's like, no, he's like, do it. You do not open your own business and leave it to someone else. He's like, you're here. And I was like, am I retired? - Yeah. - Yeah, boom. - You're in and at that point, when the rank was open, we weren't sure if it was gonna be more ice rentals or lessons and it was just kind of like this new niche, of like, one-on-one lessons or small group. And it kind of just took off and-- - I was wondering when those really started, like, one-on-one, so many kids doing now. - Yeah, and I don't think it's that old, you're probably right. - No, I don't know, it's been happening forever, but now it's so common. - Maybe not so much for like the skill and puck work. I was doing one-on-one skating lessons when I was younger, but-- - Well, we had no skill trainer. They were skating coaches. They were just bigger skating coaches, but like, everything we did was self-taught. - Yeah. - Or the turkot stick handling, like, you would go to one or two camps in the process. - And it wasn't one-on-one? - No. - Absolutely not. And I think what the cool thing about one-on-one is, is like, now we're in an era of like, you know, kids are a little bit more fragile and stuff and there's whole another conversation about that, but everyone learns differently, right? And our goal is to get the best out of each kid. And you can really have a connection and see like, how that kid ticks or like, what's gonna make that kid better? How to do it? And you really develop this like cool type of relationship with these kids and you know them on a personal level, but you also get to push them and make them better at hockey. So that's where I fell in love with the small group in one-on-one. Obviously, I'll do like the bigger scale sessions and it's kind of like, you know, we got 35 kids who wanna do it. You gotta go for the masses sometime, but my preference is a small group or one-on-one. - And what's that company? There's a Rink and Stoten. They're all, there's one of them on, what is it? - Elevado too. - Elevado too. - Yep, that's what that's mean. - That's awesome. - Me, Jack, Ikele, and Scott Gomez. So not a bad guy. - And how many, how many goals? I call you Costco brand, Goldmer, 'cause you look like a little bit smaller. - It's kind of a bit smaller. - You kind of move like them, like how he's so low to the ice. - Yeah. - But going back to your second year pro. So after you were done at Vermont, you actually played in the ECHL in Ontario. - Yep. - Rye played. - That was the first year. - Yeah, that was the first year when they were in the cold. - Yes. - And they eventually moved to the A. But the year after that, you went to Austria. - Yep. - Did you have a passport instead of your father? - Yep. - Okay, so you got to go live there. - Do it in the past, yeah. And it was actually really cool because I got an import. - Well, not only that, but I still have a ton of family there. - Okay. - So we actually ended up getting married in Austria. And so it was cool because I got to, I didn't really know my relatives over there. You'd go once every two years and stuff. And I was about 40 minutes away from them. And it was really cool to reconnect. And it's kind of like Vermont, but on steroids, mountains are bigger, grass is green or whatnot. But it was really cool and special for me to go back to my dad's homeland. - Any funny stories of being overseas and maybe just the way it was ran differently and situations you found yourself in while traveling. - I mean, so this was later on in it. This is pretty funny, but we're playing in Italy and up taking a half clapper to my jaw, right? And I'm like, it's broken, right? And so I go there and they're like, ah, no, and I'm like covering like this. So I'm like, for sure. Like I feel like my jaw dropped, right? And he's like, so I like move it like that. He's like, always broken. We gotta go to the hospital, right? So they sent me a loan to an Italian hospital. And they're like. - Now you're playing in Australia? - This is Austria. - Or while you're playing in Austria. - Wait, so it's a dual league, right? So there's Italy, Slovakia, I might forget another soul. - Australia. - Did I stay, I fought up Austria and Australia, I'm sorry. - It does get some people confused, is you know? (laughing) - Let's get legit dumb and dumb of the movie. (laughing) - That is nice. - Put another trip on the ball, dude. - No, no, that's not the right thing. But so, man, they sent me to the hospital. - Playin' all those kangaroos. - Right? And my phone doesn't work in Italy. So my parents don't know what's going on. They're watching the game on TV. I'm gone, right? I get there, they're like, we can't do the surgery here. Okay, so I'm like, okay, so they stitched me up. I ended up getting like nine on the outside. Now, dude, I'm in full hockey year, right? Riding in the back of the hospital. No fall or in the back of the ambulance. We got like an hour and a half ride to the Innsbruck hospital that can do the surgery, right? So I got these two Italian guys just staring at me. I'm in a world of pain, right? And I'm just like, having eaten, phone doesn't work. End up getting to the hospital. And they're like, yeah, your surgery's on Wednesday. I'm like, oh, Saturday, man, right? The only clothes I have was my gitch. And I still have like my lower half on. Yeah, soaking wet, starving. And man, I was just in this hospital. Someone brought me Wi-Fi so I could at least tell my parents like what happened and what not. And then they were like, so I had the surgery and everything like that. Did you get it on the Wednesday? Or did you get you in sooner? No, they didn't. There was no rush. It was Wednesday. He was hanging out the same guys who did the rink for the, just showing, right? Like just hanging out, like I got a roommate. Doesn't speak a lick English, right? I'm trying to chop it up in German, but my jaw is dropping. So it's just misery. No pain killers there besides Tylenol, right? So you're just sucking it up. And they do the surgery and it was like, I think it was Friday. And I was like, what's the deal here? And they're like, well, you can go home, dude. I rode the train back two hours to my hometown where I was staying. Flip flops and my night gown from the hospital. Like, blood everywhere still, right? They didn't give me a fresh one. The eyes I was getting on this train was outrageous. And then I just knew I was in the way. I went home, changed. And when I got to the rink, they're like, how do you get here? I was like, man, it took the train home. Like no one came and picked me up. Oh my gosh. So there's just a little bit of a different scenario there, you know? Holy shit. Yeah. That was all in your first year in Austria. No, this was my fifth year. My first year, I ended up getting hit so hard on the PK. I broke my sternum down the middle, right? Yeah, you said surgery next week. Oh, not on, no surgery. And so that was painful, but I said, man, I think something's wrong. So the next day we were going to October fest, I was like, I can't miss this. No, that's like a late time, right? Yeah. So I don't go to the hospital. I'm like, I can't move. We go to October fest, come back the next day, I'm laying in bed, I'm like, man, I can't even get out. I was like, someone's got to come pick me up. So they pick me up and they're like, oh, I think we see why you're in pain. Like your sternum's cracked down the center. We're gonna give you a quarter zone shot of them. Like, no, we're not. We're doing a quarter zone shot. Like, we're just gonna let see what happens here. So I was out for like six weeks, seven weeks, I'm like that. Fuck dude. Just grind that. Yeah. It was funny because again, like, so that was after Denmark. That was like in this week. That was before Denmark. Okay. Because it says you were an Austrian league for that 2010, 2011, yeah. And then you were, you went back to North America, played in Trenton, Wheeling, Hamilton, the AHL for a game. Yeah. Back to Wheeling. As Berg. Yep. EFB East hockey Denmark Denmark took the train to the completely wrong city when I, when I went there. Oh, yeah. Because they're pretty close, right? Like those cities. So I ended up like two hours away from Ross. What did I rank? The wrong team. Yeah. No team. No one there to pick you up. The phone doesn't work. You know, when you get in Europe, it's not like the iPhones and stuff now. Like where you can just switch the sims and stuff. Your last three years, you were in the same place. Yeah. It was in what the Alps. Yeah. And what league was that? Alps hockey league. So it was like, that was a league between, so the Italian first league folded, right? Because, you know, probably some shady money stuff or whatever. So there was like three or four Austrian teams that joined the Alps hockey league. What's that? Come back as a medical. The whole thing. You guys stayed in the hospital. The two wheelers. Right? Well, the funny thing was that the team asked me if I wanted to pay for my medical. And I was like, they're like, because you got a special surgery. I was like, that's what? Yeah. Definitely. I was paying for that. But yeah, that was, I was in a beautiful ski town. I mean, it's like the, I'd say like the Aspen of, of Austria. It was gorgeous. Oh, wow. So we, you know, any Bluebird day could go up and ski and stuff. It was, it was super cool. Was there like a moment since you've started doing what you're doing now that to you was like, holy shit, like this is, this is something I can do the rest of my life. Like this, I've kind of made it in a sense of content creation, skill coach. Whatever it may be, you were like, this, thank God this worked out the way. Yeah. Like collaboration. Like what's been the pinnacle? I, I think just, you know, like, um, seeing how excited you can make kids into hockey or seeing a non-hockey fan be like, oh, this is actually like pretty cool. Like, I don't, I don't think it's something where it's like a, like a, oh, wow moment. But it's more of like, man, like you can positively impact kids and get people to have eyes on hockey and how powerful. I mean, is, is exactly what you guys are doing, you know, like it's taking hockey and then, you know, sharing your guys's lives in a more relatable point to other parents or stuff. And like, I mean, I'm like, I, I'd normally rod dog it in the car or just nothing, you know, I'm a rod guard or, yeah, I'm a, but man, I got to put your
pass your podcast on like you guys crack me up and I'm like sitting in the car laughing to myself and then like sending Keith the text, no one I'm not getting a response for a mom. You know, but it's like, but it's it's, it's, it's that to me is like even though I didn't play in the NHL to potentially have impact on kids and make them enjoy hockey. That's, that's the real goal. Can you say now? Yeah. So you have two young kids. You have a third on the way. Yeah. And you're gone 15 to 20 nights a month. Yeah. What is that? Is that always skill training one on one groupsters? It also bowershoots and everything. That's all yesterday. We did a fountain blue shoot where I ripped through the casino. Um, so like yesterday. Vegas. Oh, yeah. It's nasty. You were in Vegas yesterday. I've read out this morning. Let's go. Well, she was like, Hey, you want to come on the pod? I mean, I mean, like, I'm, you know, I know I didn't play in the NHL. So like, it's a big deal. You know, I like I appreciate you guys having me. It's super fun. Awesome. You know, and so he was like that. So my wife's like, when he coming home, I'm like, man, I'm fine. I'm awesome. I got to get on the podcast, you know? And so I readied last night. So we did the shoot yesterday at three a.m. in Vegas. Then we went to Valley of Fire. Did a bowershoot. Then I ran a team practice. Then I got on the flight. Couldn't tell you who sat next to me. I was out before they boarded, landed here at eight. Didn't have a rental car. Got one. Came over to see port for real. Look at his swaggy. Fucking swaggy. That's who got to go. Busy, busy. Got to go. Speaking of like, I've seen the crazy, like you were all blatant down the the strip in Vegas or skating on these ponds. Like, what's have you ever almost gotten arrested? I did get almost arrested in Vegas. Yeah. Okay. And then like on the ponds, any sketchy situations, because I feel like sometimes I'm like, Oh, shit. Like he's feeling it. But you don't know what you're getting into if it's like, like fall for me. Yeah. I sent you that message last year because we were talking about it. It hasn't looked at me. I'm straight. I actually asked him on Instagram if you got a new number. I was like, dude, yeah, I was like, dude, are you just dog in there? Like, did you get on the island call us guy and they would go right to voicemail? Yeah. I was like, oh, block my number. Yes. So if ever go straight to voicemail, I always try one more time because sometimes they go off. Yeah, yeah, exactly. Not him. Mine's off. Not actually last. Um, what was it? Last Super Bowl Sunday. I was like, man, it's it's gorgeous out there. We kind of blue bird day didn't have a filmer, right? And I was like, I'm going to scout for tomorrow, right? So my wife's like, where are you going? I'm like, I'm just going to go pick up some crispy creams, right? She's like, it's four degrees outside. It's beautiful. You're going to the lake. And I was like, I'm just going to check it out for tomorrow when we have a video guy, right? So I go out there. I mean, we're talking crystal clear ice where you can see through kind of like you see some of those places in like the west part, like maybe Utah or something like that. So it's gorgeous. And we're probably about four or five inches ice, which is plenty safe. And I'm out like in a pretty, uh, it's called Sheldon Farms. If you guys ever go to Vermont, it's gorgeous. Um, but I'm out there, right? Like it's very desolate in the winter. It's more of a summertime thing. So I mean, I'm probably two miles off the main grid, park the car. And I'm getting POV, right? Just a little different dangles or whatever. And I'm like, okay, I'm good. I'm just going to check out some my areas. Shut the GoPro off. And I take like two steps and I'm in and I'm probably like 200, 300 meters off the shore. Oh, fuck. And I'm like, okay, like always said, it's going to be shock, deep breath. So as I push right out and I'm like, whoa, I'm out. Like normally it said you could struggle, right? We're talking as four degrees Fahrenheit, right? Canadian. You know what I mean? So it's cold. You know, I get out and everything's ice instantly. Yeah. And I'm like, okay, like, do I have hypothermia? Like it was very quick. I was in and out a couple deep breaths. I'm like, I'm good, right? So I went to the car, regained myself. And then I was like, I kind of want to see what happened where I fell in. So I went back out and I'm just kind of talking. No, no, no, I put the, I put a like a new jacket on, right? But I always wear waterproof, like pants, like wind pants and wind jacket. So if you do go in, like it doesn't saturate your pants and like become stuck to you and freeze. Um, but the thing was I was supposed to go to the store. And I was like, man, my skates are frozen on because of how cold it was. So I tried putting it like in the car on the heater, but it wouldn't on thought. So I'm driving the car. I'm in the grocery store with my skates on picking up while it was super well someday, right? So we needed to stop. It's guys addicted to contact. I'll get the roast to check it. You know, serial. He's cutting up the steak with his pros and skate. So then so, but I think I'm bagels down the aisle. Yeah. One time he releases into people's mallies at the butter. Yeah. So I walked around the grocery store. I had no skate guards. So I'm so raw blade on on the, just, just, yeah, I would fucking love to see their surveillance. He stopped in shops like it wasn't. It was seven deli in Vermont. And then the guy I get to the car. I'm like, dude, you got a knife. He's kind of like, well, you have two of them on your feet. And I ended up cutting my, uh, cutting my laces right there. And I kept one lace just to like, you know, in my head, like, maybe, maybe travel with, you know, someone on the open. Jesus. Yeah. Yeah. So I cut my elbow up when I fell in. I had a big bruise from like hitting the ice when I like came in because I broke through it. Um, but it was just like that it is. How deep was that water, you think? I was probably 30, 40 feet of water. Yeah. I was deep. I was two 300 yards out. Um, would you recommend like, let's say a guy is not going to get to the NHL and he's going to play in the lower levels like ECHL or Europe. Which one would you recommend going to a, a trial? Or did you kind of enjoy both experiences? Yeah. Both. I think it is important. Like, I mean, when you go to Europe, like, yes, it is run differently or whatever, but it is a pretty easy life. Like, I think it's good for the people to be in the coast. Like it's, it's a grind, you know, like 13, 14 hour bus rides, bus catches on fire. It don't matter. How many times does your bus break down? Oh, I mean, we waited 21 hours on the side of the road and we went 58 miles. Yeah. We probably have the same bus. Was that that sleeper bus? Oh, yeah. Yeah. I mean, the thing we caught fire 30 minutes into a 13 hour drive to Chicago, pull this off. I mean, the fumes are everywhere. Like roll on no AC or sorry, no heat freezing. But I just go up next to the fire in the back of the bus. So was that the one that had like the seat at the front part and then once you got halfway, you have a bunk to the back. Yeah. And as rookie and stuff or, you know, because I only played one season and I'm like super small. So I don't mind like, you know, I'll, if so, if we were all on a flight and you're like, who's taking middle? I'm like, dude, I'll go, like I could sleep anywhere. But it was just like these, but I mean, no AC for 30 or no heat for 13 hours. Like they're like, put a jacket on. Yeah. And you're like, come on. You know, feet are absolutely ice breaks when you get out of there. 13 hours, no heat is criminal. I mean, it had to have been the same bus. Then you got Billy Higgins with the thing. We tried to get, we were, so we were stuck for 21 hours. They still tried to make us play that night in Kazoo, but we played the night before. So we took our laundry out and it was a box of ice, right? Cause it's in the trailer behind. Right. Yeah. I can't get you new getcha. And we're like, come on, man. Yeah. They had the sleep, the sleeper bus. And then they had a trailer at the back of the hotster. It was the other bags. All the bags all experience sharpener and the dirty getch that they were, you know, we were supposed to get there. But I mean, it's, I think that's, I don't, maybe it's, they're treated a little bit better now, but I think it's good to think a lot of garbage. No matter you didn't get Swaggy P Instagram before Nick Young did. You got the 63 on, yeah, who was first? No, I believe he was. He had, he's a swiggy. He's, he's, he's, he's got good, good, good style. So I respect that. That's, that's, that's all good. 360,000 followers. Oh, you're talking about the guy who played for the lake. Yeah. He's a ball. Yeah. You know, he's got, has he ever reached out because you guys have the same name? No, not reach out. Maybe he's got a couple of mill. So he's probably just chill and having fun. And you know, he's doing podcasting now. But you know, I respect that. What's, what's been your pinnacle moment in, in like the second part of your career? Like after you hung them up, like, is there, is there a collaboration or something that you've done where like that was like star games? Yeah. I mean, any of it is really, there's been like a couple. I mean, the first bowershoot I ever did, you know, I'm with Ricky and we're riding around this you hall. We put a synthetic rink on Newport Beach, that big area we talked about maybe doing chicklets cup there some time or whatever. But it was with Zegress just as he was breaking in the league. And I mean, what a, I'm after he did the Michigan. No, no, no, this was like, maybe I think he came after college. So he only played a couple games that year or he was just breaking in. He wasn't doing that stuff yet. And he was like, incredibly, incredibly nice. And I, you know, just, the seal on him. It was amazing. I'm like, I've kept in touch with him. And just like, that was a really cool moment just because it's like, wow, like, what are we doing? We're on a beach. You know, we got the synthetic ice and that was cool. The Bellagio fountain
shoot with the NHL where we're able to solve. - Oh yeah, that was part of the skill competition wasn't it? - Yeah, they got to test it out to do it for them. I mean, we didn't have the fans, but some of these things that you get pulled into or whatever, you're just like, how is this? How not only like, how am I here, but how am I getting paid to be here? Like, I wouldn't imagine that when I was a younger kid that this is what I would be doing, but I think the main thing is a lot of people are asking, how do you make money on Instagram or how to do that? It's just what you love to do, right? And that's where you're gonna find growth and stuff. And it's like, I'm not sitting there being like, oh, I gotta post a video 'cause this is fun. Like, we can do this or go out and like, like I said, as a kid, the ice was like, there's nothing like a lake when you're out there and it's crystal. - That's the same now for you as it was when you were a kid. - The love for hockey, I think being able to pass it on to the next, the up and coming kids and to see some of the skill level out of these kids. And I know there's different pieces and you can say they need the hockey IQ more, kind of like Kutra Offset or whatever. And I don't disagree with that, but to see what these kids can do at such a young age is like, it's insane. - I mean, I was not jab stepping at nine years old. Like, kid me. - Is there a kid that you worked with like early days that has now gone on to like-- - Oh, there's a couple kids that are just, David, and Kenan. - Yeah, different, you know what I mean? Like it is, there's different levels. So we started in 2019, you know, so there's a bunch of kids who are in college now. Actually, believe it or not, we're really, really pretty good at producing female hockey players out of Vermont. We have a lot more division one, female than male right now out of Vermont. I think there might be only three or four boys or guys. And I think there's gotta be like 12 to 15 girls. - That's awesome. - Oh, last one I had was the ink. Is that your grandfather or-- - That's my dad. - Okay, that's your dad. - Yeah, still with us. - Yeah, both of them are still with us. - Very cool. - Yeah. - Just a mountain go day. - What's on the hand? What's on the left hand? - Yeah, I got a little bird, skull, wife's name. So we got planned for the kids and everything across the tummy, but it's just Wendy have time, right? The guy out in Vegas, Robert Fowell, he's amazing, go great guy. So he's very talented. - Swaggy, you're an electric buddy. - You're an electric buddy. - Very good. - This is awesome. - Appreciate it. - Very happy for you, man. Appreciate you listening to the show. - Was there one story or something that we should have asked you about that maybe we missed? Like what even crazier than you talked about the broken jaw or falling into the pond? Is there like a go-to that you're like, "I gotta tell you this one, this is a wild one." - Yeah, yeah, I got one. - Okay. - This is mind blowing actually. - Okay, okay, let's go. Let's go. Let's go. - It's actually crazy, like insane crazy. - Okay. - And it's not, I'll just kind of get into it. - It's a Babcock's trying to sign. (laughing) - No. - So I did the shoe with Babs and he's like, "Give me your phone." (laughing) - The bathroom come near my phone. - Oh, he started taking dick pics. - Yeah. - No, but I was in Austria. It was the year before we started Elevate. And there was a girl there. And very nice and reached out a couple times and kind of hung out, but very flaky. And I was single at the time. And it was just like, man, I'm not looking for drama this and that. I'm like, it's kind of strange, you know? Like, it's like, sometimes you message, sometimes you don't, but I was just like, hot. - Is it like a DM slide or something? - She split in DM, but then it was kind of just like, got the number, we were taxing, but it'd be like, you know, a couple of texts and then nothing for a week and a half and then a couple, so whatever. You know, met up a couple of times and was like, "Hey, like, you know, what's going on?" You know, just like, is there something I'm missing here? Like, normally, maybe you're just terrible at your phone or whatever. - Oh, yeah, that's my sister. - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. - It was just sister. - Yeah. (laughing) But no, she was like, well, I kind of have a boyfriend. - And I was like, all right, I'm out. You know, this is not it or whatever. So, next year I go for training camp and then the ring starts to come, right? And I'm like, I gotta go back home, right? I gotta get this ring up and going. It's, we're mid-construction, whatever. So we had a goalie who came in and he had a girlfriend back home and he was the second goalie. We had, there was a first goalie who was unbelievable and he actually got injured in the first period playing against one of the better teams. So the second goalie goes in, lights out. I think they lost one nothing so the two periods he had to shut out. So after the game, he's like, I guess, and I think this is what happened. He told his girlfriend, he's gonna stay in that town for the night and get treatment 'cause he also kind of tweaked his growing. So then he ended up going home with this girl who was, you know, I was in communication with the year before and apparently the boyfriend had saw that and they went home, ex-boyfriend, I guess was, came over, knocked on the door and was like, hey, the dad answered and was like, hey, you know, it's three in the morning, why don't you go home and he said, you know, you can come back and talk to my daughter tomorrow. I came back about 20 minutes later and murdered everyone in the house. Holy fuck, dude. It's tough. If that took a bully, was that? It took a fucking right. It took a, so that was the girl, like, you're saying that she was like my boyfriend's like, don't worry about him. Like he's innocent. Like he's not worried about him. Yeah, five people. You can look it up. It's like the kids' pool massacre. Damn. Okay, off. What are you guys doing for dinner? (laughing) They never did find the anthrax guy. No. Holy shit. Okay, thanks for joining us, dude. I mean, that was fucking crazy interview. Yeah. Wrap it up. That's what I did. Check them out. RIP to the Bial Masker. Yeah. (laughs) (drum roll) Thank you so much to Swaggy Pete. Great guy, solid human being. We appreciate him coming on. Um, boys, I just got a text from Bob Stoffer. What are the odds that right as I was talking about Edmonton? I don't know if he wants me reading this, but I did. Should I read it? Is it involving Pink Whitney? Well, I actually was going to bring up Pink Whitney after. I think he's going to want the phone case as far as Pink Whitney. Bob Stoffer crushes Pink Whitney. Is that what they want for their celebration drink when they win the stand? They already know that that's common, but if Stoff loves Pink Whitney, you know it's a legit drink. So show it out, Pink Whitney. Pinky's up. I hope you guys are doing well. Sorry about not being able to do show a couple with you guys called late and I was in a meeting anyhow. A strong argument can be made that Evan Bouchard has been the best demon in the NHL since mid November last year. He was minus 10 in October last year when the others were flat out of the gate, not surprising since they had just lost, not won, but two heartbreaking Stanley Cup finals and played into late June both years. He ended leading all NHL D in scoring last season and finished plus 25. Pretty sure he's the first demon in NHL history of 10 points and go plus 10 in his first four games in the modern era. His exclusion of being named to team Canada in my humble opinion, cost Canada a gold medal. Armstrong, Breezboi, etc. All underestimated Bouchard's subtle ability to generate five on five via transitioning the puck. Bouchard like you Ryan is smart and he understands that the puck does the work. Some media focus on the negative with him, the positive significantly outweigh the negative. He has also added PK to his repertoire. He understands where to be, even as Edmonton has changed from a very static pass of PK to one of the most aggressive under DJ Smith. And he gets the puck out because he has a strong stick with all due respect to a once amazing player, Drew Daudi and Colton Parenco, who I've done a couple of events with. Canada need only one of those guys. They needed Evan Bouchard. With McCarran Bouchard on the right side, they would have two guys that could play 45 minutes of game generating at even strength. Remember Canada played three tight games in the mental round, tax their team in the process and didn't have quick straight offense beyond the tapes, McCarran Paren. And the residual effect of Canada losing and the US winning as fans in Winnipeg and Ottawa with American stars. And there's one of the few media in Canada have multiple one-on-ones with Prime Minister Karney over the last 18 months. Trust me. Canada would have a gold medal in a similar fashion as the White House did. They just didn't get the opportunity to. And Canada's chances would be far greater if they would have just selected their best team. Whoa, what a read. Is that man not a legend? Bob Stoffer loves Pink Whitney. And so do you. So do you. You know it. I got an idea. I want to, but Cardi Booster is the yesterday. Yesterday. By the way, did you see when he went to pressure the guy in the corner? 'Cause they have that aggressive opinion. Now the guy's looking at him. He sprints at him. Dangles him and he passed it to Seneca for a goal. No. He was a good boy. He was a good boy. Bob, I got an idea for Pink Whitney. We should make a hundred bottles for whatever team wins the Stanley Cup. Every guy gets that number bottle, whatever number they are. So McDabe will get bottle number 97. And then the leftover ones are auctioned off. No, given to Stoff, given to Stoffer. I think that he's like 20 times.
crazier than Lawless. Like, but a real way. That was like, that was the most, that might be an amazing text of all time. Like, you have to, you have to, you have to type that out. That's, you can't do that with your thumbs. Yes. That's where she was. Thumbs. They're fucking, they're the perfect thumbs. All right. Before we have R.A. on for the R.A.s world, we've missed him since last week and TR, you know, very special. That's Terry Ryan's in the house. Can we talk about, um, the Edmonton Oilers? Oh, fuck, let me tell you. I had a preach. Go ahead and go ahead and go ahead and tell you guys something. They haven't won their division in close to 40 years. That's crazy. They want to be the division. They won the, I think they're the long, one of the longest teams in pro sports to have not won their division. It, not including teams who've never won their division. I believe. If, if Mick David ends up leaving and they never won their division while he was there, they should lose their team. They should lose their one. If they won the cup, though, that's that, that would be like a, what do you call it? Like a cause where yes. Yeah. I would say if Mick David went, the fact that they haven't, I bet you Oilers fans would be shocked to hear that they haven't won their division since. I don't think they're shocked. I think they all know because what has happened is they do not start seasons off well. No, they do not start seasons off what they didn't have. Michael, they brought in the cock, Mike Babcock. And were we a part of the storyline when Mike Babcock got fired before training camp, you just wanted them in Edmonton. Yes, we were. This is an inside job. Do I now get so much enjoyment from watching every Mike Babcock press conference, his voice, the way he talks, the way he just, his aura, his, I'll tell you right now, it's an SNL sketch. I was wrong. Oh, it's a straight SNL sketch. It's like, it's like Pete Davidson on SNL being a hockey coach. And I'll tell you a man, this guy can coach an army show. I think he talked about in game notes. This guy's coach and during games, not luck wouldn't say a word. It's stand there. They made a couple runs to the finals with him. He went to babs. He's in your year, all game. He's chatting with everyone. They know what they have to do. I said on opening night, Evan Bouchard just won the Norse trophy. Yes. Oh yeah. And people ridiculed me and laughed at me. And what has he done since he's only gotten better and better and better? I got a text from Ryan Shaysan. I had no clue how dominant this guy was six goals in four games. He has six goals. He might be the greatest player in NHL history with a lazy eye. I don't give a fuck if he had, I don't give a fuck if he had one eye. He is a dominant, incredible hockey player who has the puck on a string the entire game. I don't care if this year he has 20 pizzas that lead directly to goals because he's going to have 300 different plays. Still better pizza than little season. That lead directly to Euler scoring chances. Goals, tapens. He's a wizard. They have Mick David and Dreyse who look as good as they've ever looked. I believe right now, Mick David's on pace for 250 questions. Well, points. I beat off to that saucer possibly on the other night. Have you even seen the view from behind Anna Heim's neck? I have. That's the one where I had to pull over on the way into the hotel and release myself right right on the highway. It was an ugly scene, but it's Euler's hockey. I put a blanket over me in first class. I put holes in fourth round pick from the Vancouver connox for Paul Colesay. And let me tell you something. We grabbed this guy from Pittsburgh. And all I'm hearing, we spent we traded Spencer Stasney. I can't even think of his name right now. That's how excited to tell me his name. Hollander Hollander. Yeah. All I'm hearing out of Pittsburgh is this guy is incredible. Yeah. This guy skates like the wind. He has three points. And I believe two games with the penguins. He's going to slot right into the Cox world. And he's going to have him up and down the lineup. He grabbed Fomenton. How'd that one go over in Canada? I don't really care because he looks good out there. They got him in the balls of the three games. We don't have noots. We don't have hymen right now. We go into Anaheim. We go down to nothing in the first pair to Seneca power play goals against what happens? We win five two. This team is loaded. Everyone laughs at me. Everyone ridicules me. You will not be laughing when we're driving in downtown Edmonton with the Stanley top and pinquitney coming out of my door. Just can read us and I'm sitting and I might move back to Edmonton because this team it's different this year. And it starts with the cock. And I don't care what the cock does. I don't care how the cock treats the players because they wanted them there. And I'm telling you right now you want to see this is the beginning of a run and a DVD that I will play on repeat for the rest of time in my room. I watch Ryan Shale out there. What a signing. Is he my good friend? Yes, he is. Is he awesome? Did he lead the team in ice time against Anaheim? Yes, he did. Do I see that Connor Murphy is willing to throw his body on his? He started great. No, his woman started great. You know, at home looks phenomenal. I just think that this team is so so fun to watch. So fun to root for to see two of the greatest players have ever witnessed. Start a season like this. We're looking at record breaking numbers. We're looking at an incredible spring at Edmonton and we're looking at a Stanley cup at the end of the season raised in their barn. It's going to be a home win and the cock's going to put that thing up and you're going to give his middle finger to the rest of the hockey world. And I'm be sitting there and I might even jerk off his middle finger while he does. Was the cock get the invite on the pod if they win it? I don't see the cock coming on this pod. If the cock's on this pod, that means that they they they went 16 and O in the playoffs. That might get it done. But even then maybe he'll talk to me because you were the real reason he was fired from Columbus. So I was kind of just a bystander like I don't agree with this. He's a good guy. And now we're lucky enough to have him. So shout out the Oilers. You don't have any questions. You didn't show me Devin Levi. Well, I don't I think we already did on this pod because you guys were over there making fun of Oilers goal is where Levi and don't forget Freddie Anderson. He won't stand in the cup last year. He'll be back in December. Okay. So this is like a goal, a goal pen and controversy. Yeah. Perfect. The cock handles the controversy is better than others. The cock does trust me. Trust me. You asked if we had any questions. Would would Bush be the most talented human ever with a cross eye? I don't know why. I don't know why. I have one ear bigger than the other. Like you're making make it. Farmer. I'm asking he's you're playing with the deficiency and he's the best. I don't think it's a deficiency. I clearly know that it shows that maybe if you have a cross eye, you actually see the eyes better. Because I don't know if you notice he's making break open passes and in offensive zone play dishes to the back door. Like none of us ever could and Keith played for a long fucking time and had a lot of fucking points. So okay. He shoots it 105 miles an hour. It's crazy. All right. I I don't give a flying fuck about his cross eye and neither does he. Did you see the one tweet? One of the others fans goes the way that Bush is playing maybe the writers of of old top 50 defense from the Western cock. Yeah. He gets no respect. I get a notice back dying. And he's going to get a hundred points this year. I got a 35 goals down for the Norris. Okay. Thank you. You have a vote. I think I gave it away sign an NDA about that mall on the what I was allowed to load on stuff. And I said, I don't think I have like the so unfortunately I have bad news for you Saturday afternoon is a big time in Chico. It's cup. It's the semifinals. And then the finals should be around 435 p.m. They won't be in it. The oils are playing the San Jose charts at four Eastern on Saturday. I will not be around. Yes. Or I'll be around. I'll be on my phone because Celebrini's incredible. Will Smith is going to be back. I don't know. I did not hear. I know we didn't even mention that. I don't I haven't heard anything. He's game time tonight. You should be back Saturday. It's only Thursday. And like I love Celebrini. I love Wilson with all the talent, Stenberg. Good luck. Good luck against 29 97. And I'm one of our number two. And yeah, well, I mean, basically only talk about his high. And I don't care because I talk about shot, his vision, his skating. He's a sneaky unbelievable. I'm a you're bringing it up to now. I think you guys are just a little jealous. And I'm watching the audience more than anyway. I didn't say it was a good start and to start like this body is like I've been saying we would happens now. I've been saying leaves Edmonton cup final since the fucking previews. And I want a cup coming back to Canada. I've said it would it would make my heart feel so much with warmth to see Connor McDavid lift a Stanley cup. He deserves one. He's the new OV. Yeah. The only worry. The only thing I think about because it's all about, you know, springtime and the playoffs is like. The cock has Leon and McDavid together. They're a better team when they're on different lines. If they could ever get a six second line center, right? They could then keep them together. I don't know if they have the ability to do that or if they ever could, but they're not done. They're not even close to done with what their team will look like by the time playoffs. Well, so trade, trade, trade, trade stuff. Yeah, grab somebody. I don't know who I call my fucking job. They don't need a goalie. All right. With all that said, should we bring in, all right, get over here.
- Yeah. - Chicken, let's podcast. Chicken, let's come back and Boston. Second year in a row, no brain after last year's resounding success, beautiful weather, not too hot, great to play in. Good to see you, Keith, great to see you. - Very fine up, my boy T. I once again in Boston. Always a pleasure. Can't wait to party with senior order a little while myself. - Yeah, kind of fitting. We were just talking about Conor McDavid and the Edmonds and Oilers. You've been buddy buddy with them now recently. Well, you've been doing commercials with them. - Well, you know, I've got the gnome a little bit. - Yeah. - You're going to take a long comment. - Yeah, yeah, we've got a ton in common. Well, we did both, we are both top 10 picks, you know. (laughing) - Top 8, no, by the way. - I would say we both had 50 goals in junior, but that was only me. (laughing) But hey, who's counting? Don't think I didn't let them know that immediately. - 38. - Oh yeah, my draft year. - This way is on after that, though. - Anyway, anyway, just by the way, you didn't ask, but Steve Nash would be my favorite lazy I athlete. And he had, how's that provision? - Not that much, I should say. - And that has been an advantage. - There's been a shadow lazy. - It must be a help, it must be an advantage. - Well, he was known, I mean, he's a good Canadian and he's a great passer, he's a thinker, he's got Unreal basketball IQ. I think he's MVP two or three times. - Cool. - I think he often gets passed over in the, the way we look at historically, in basketball, I don't know why that would be. Maybe Canadian, maybe he's not in the public eye. It's not like he wanted to be a lot. I mean, I know he coached a little bit. But anyway, that would be a not taking anything away. I agree with you with Boosher. I covered the orders Tuesdays and Thursdays on the Jason Greggers show. So I watched every single game. - Did we tell the story about Olvie? Did we mention that at the beginning of the podcast? - No, I think was it Greggers who said, he interviewed Olvie as rookie here in 15 minutes with him. I think it's his Greggers. - Yeah, 2006 Olvie's first year in his first trip to Edmonton. - And he had three Coca-Cola in the 15 minutes. - Oh, yes, I saw that. Sakukovo used to do that too. That's what he would drink in between periods, at least early on. I wouldn't know shortly after he started, but I remember that being a thing and I never saw it before. - You know, I actually brought a gift for R.A. And you were talking about top 10 picks. R.A., I know how big of a celebriny jocsniff for you are. So, I got you. - Oh, no. Sarah's a shark. - Signed celebriny jersey. - Wow. - Here you go, that's for you, Olvie. - Oh, yeah. - Oh, did it on. - Put it on. - So it's got the A for Admiral. It doesn't have the C on there. So I figured that you get better use of it than me. - All right, you fucking pawn that thing off. You're a sick puppy. Don't sell it for a dime bag, all right? - No, that's for your hand with. - Yeah, a lot more than a dime bag. - I bet he's gonna love seeing you rocking that more than me, dude. You're the OG of the pod. So that's who's who. - Absolutely. - Buddy. - Buddy. - I like to steal two. I like to steal better than the Blacks. - Yeah, I got to think. - I like their Blacks. I think they're Blacks, one of the top jersey with the Lee. - San Jose's shirt helmet. - Admin sent that. So shut out to them. - Sorry. - Yeah, I knew you said it was there. This is beautiful. - The shark tank is back, man. Like that is iconic jersey and obviously celebriny. One of the best in the world right now. I know how big of a fan you are. - Absolutely, thank you. - Shut out to the top 10 picks. - We got it. - Yeah, we got it back in the lineup though. He's hit him out of the lineup. So hopefully back before the posture set, he's a game time decision tonight. Good. - How the did you shoot? You said you wanted to talk about that. - Yeah, and he was just in Gucci. - Apparently a lot of gun G-I-G-Q, right? - G-Q, a lot of controversy around that. Apparently they were asking them a lot about like, oh, what's the show? - They're trying to sexual abortion. - Yeah, the heated robbery and then, well, this thing's for him. - And then, yeah, the sharks fans, some of them, they were little, I don't know what's the word. They were social, like people just got attached to things through the internet. And then the NHL had those weird stories that start the year. They sort of sexualized, like, short stories. And then they cut them out. There was like, I don't think anybody really enjoyed them. It was just a. - I did. - Yeah, of course. Shaka. - It was a moment. - Yeah, I think it was just a P-admiss calculation. Not about the end of the world, but they didn't even leave on Spotify. They said I was only from the beginning of the year, but they got rid of them. I think there was just a blowback. So, you know, question Keith. Yeah, they had, I think one of the, they asked these guys, I don't know. Like, I don't even know if the word is appropriate, but like hinting at some relationship. And he's like, I don't think about it. It's just a weird question. Ask, I mean, it's just the. It's a unique thing, I think, to San Jose and those two guys. And I think people assign their own, maybe, like, Mores and morals to guys that they like. And they really don't know them. It is kind of a weird guy. - Well, also him and Will Smith, too, they're young, good-looking guys that are taken to league by storm. So, them being like. - How do you word sexualized? - Yeah, like it's just natural. It's also hockey. And I mean, women love hockey players. That's just been a fact since the beginning of time. - Yeah. - Do they love me? - No. - Do they love some other ugly hockey players? - No, but good-looking hockey players. - Yeah. - Oh, yeah. - So, a hockey player definitely not controversial. - Show this. - So, hey. - And hats off to Lylo the line. - I know. - Oh, yeah. - No, no, I don't mean just because of that Lylo. - Well, the ladies love them. - The ladies absolutely love them. - Yeah, I don't love them in my world. - But my first camp, okay. Guys, I didn't mean to jump into that. I just-- - No, I don't say stories. - Lylo the line, my first game, it was exhibition, but I stayed around all camp and I tried my hardest. I didn't have a good camp, but, well, I good. It wasn't anything above that. And like I said, I was just a top-tempered. There was a lot of pressure there. That never really got to me, but I could feel the heat. And I tried my hardest all-camp, like I said, I fought for sure. I got absolutely, like, for sure started, like, kind of doing me a favor and just came camp. Just come on, let's go. But like, the fight ended without the refs getting in there with for sure. He took pity on me, okay. So that was it. And I tried my hardest, but at the end of camp, shockdammers said, "Hey, man, you've worked hard. If you want to miss your first game in Tri-Cities, we'll dress you in the forum. I know your history, not." And the forum's going to shut down. So I, yeah, no shit. And I went out and I fought Steve Leach and I scored a goal. Recky threw it out of the corner and played with Mark Recky and Pier Turgent. Throws it out of the corner, hits my leg, bounce in. Oh, he loved the fact that I fought and he loved the camp I had, because I guess you were out with him every night. Well, no, he took us all out. It was Saturdays. That was his big thing. Well, I'm, I don't know what he had going on other than that. I just remember, we were minding our pees and cues a little bit. Another guy with me, the first round pick from the year before Brad Brown. He threw it down. We had, it was a hard camp for us. But anyway, my second game, and I thought I looked so good in my first game. I had tip top tailor suit, gray one. And I had sneak skin boots that I'd gotten in the Western League. And shit, hell, whatever tie and suit or tie and shirt, shirt, get up I had. And anyway, the second game I came in, and there was a brand new Hugo Boss suit with the tie, with the shirt, and with the shoes. And it was a note from Odie. And it just said, hey, going forward, you'd dress like a pro Odie. And that's awesome. Great move. What a legend. Sorry to hijack the conversation. That's all we do. That's a great story. I love that. Another cool story. Actually, one of our listeners, he reached out on Instagram and his sister is a teacher down in Raleigh, North Carolina. She teaches a lot of underprivileged kids. So she's doing this thing. And it's called Miss Craig's NHL challenge. She has two kids. I'm sorry, each kid in her class picked out two teams and they kind of keep track of the points all year. She said a few teams have reached out and sent stuff. So any child folks, if you're listening, it's the name on Instagram is miss dot Craig's dot NHL dot challenge. If you guys want to say don't again, dot dot dot dot dot. What was it? It's MS dot Craig's dot NHL dot challenge. That's that's the handle on Instagram. That's our A and his brother. They're going to pull all this stuff. Yeah. Just just stay away from my celebrity. It's pretty serious. So any teams of listen, you can it's very easy to find on Instagram. If you want to send some gear. It's like I said, she's basically trying to bring bring new sported to these young kids. And by doing it in a fun way. It's not a gambling thing. It's just these kids, you know, they would pick two teams each and whoever gets the most points at the end of the year will win. So hopefully some teams will hear that and maybe send some stuff out. Gee, I know we have the press cancer initiative. I saw that we talked about it. Okay, I wasn't here for the beginning. But I did want to also in that same vein. Send best wishes out to Philly's. He does a lot of Philly media, Jason Martinez. He was diagnosed with stage three colorectal last year. It's progressed the stage for it and still working through it. He's doing, he's got this like fanny pack with the chemo therapy bag on there. And he's been grinding through it. There's a great piece of Kevin Kerr's did in the athletics. So, you know, we talked about the cancer. I wanted to send him best wishes and best regards and what he's doing is very admirable to be that sick and still batland through and go to work every day. So I want to give him a little tip of the cap as well. Well, we're talking about that. That's awesome. Someone who does not get a tip of the cap this week, Stephen A Smith fucking asshole. The stuff he said. Oh, I need a foreign Lane Johnson, you know, the Philadelphia Eagle guy's been in league 16 years, I believe, a right tackle like tough as league in the world. It's just a brutal league. And, you know, four games and he, he, he, he, he decides to retire. And Stephen A Smith just like mocked him on ESPN, like, and you can see everybody on the table just uncomfortable, like mental health, mental health. Just he just sounded like a total asshole. Everybody's like, he's going to backpedal. He first, he tried to defend himself like what a just out of word salad on his podcast later that day. And then I think it was this morning. He did apologize. He must have had a million people tell him how much of an asshole he sounded like. I mean, we've talked about all the time. I, I need a little time out. I went a little whack. A little few years ago, as we all know. So just to hear him say that, like, you know, especially knowing that the league this guy's played it in. And I guess he has, you know, family issues going on as well. And just
to have Stephen A Smith like with his platform to mock him again. Yeah. He backed penalty apologized, but he sounded like a real asshole in the meantime. So I just wanted to call that out. And Drake May, he's my quarterback. I love him. I don't want to shoot boredom, but someone's got to sit him down and have him Google these three names. Okay. If forced lieutenant colonel Gus Grissom, if forced lieutenant colonel Ed White and US Navy lieutenant command, the Roger Chaffee, okay. These guys, they were burned alive in the mint and this country's mission to go to the to the moon back on the day. These guys were in a capsule that it's what it's spontaneous exploded. These three men were killed in this, you know, not just this country, but this plan is pursuit to go to the moon. And I we've talked about before the show. I fucking hate when people say the moon in the space. It's so fucking ignorant. And no, it's it's an insult to like again, these three guys who died, the people who are the Colombian, the people in the challenger, our friend Colonel Mike Clapton was up on the space station. We interviewed the Drake May say something about it. He's well, they asked me that they he'd been in place that even why is he even talking about? He said, Oh, I don't know. And and I tweet about it. And I just can't believe how many people like like tickets at conspiracy. Look, the president JFK said, we will go to the moon. And I believe it was 1961, spend billions of dollars, hire tens of thousands of people. Again, those three gentlemen will kill, but literally burned alive. And what? So to have Russia still be on the conspiracy, it's just it's just so far. Fetchley, we have a literally a space shuttle. We live on months of year. So why is it so crazy that we went further than that? Like in 1969, it's just like it's just highly insulted. Not only does you go to the US to the US military. And look, buddy, I understand the government's kept the system more than anybody. I was born in the Vietnam Watergate era, plus the whole of the way of the world these days. But this is not that like and there's a tremendous documentary call for all mankind. And it's a summer it's summer like a video summary of all the trips that went to the moon. It's absolutely fascinating. And it's just like I said, it pisses me off because it's an insult to not just like, you know, what the United States accomplished, but what man kind of accomplished and all these kinds of thousands of people in that interview, they completely sandbacked them. They're like, what is your favorite? What is one conspiracy theory that you pay attention to? And he's kind of like, I don't really pay attention to conspiracy theories. And like, you got to pick one. He's like, I, I guess the moon, like, yeah, I don't know about that. You got to be a veteran of interviews and be like, I, I don't, I don't have to. You're not going to make me answer this. So do you think they landed on the moon? Yeah. Think you think? Yeah. It's a say, it's a besmirching, besmirching, besmirching, a besmirching met of just so many tens of thousands of people who like, and I said that they are all in other's conspiracy. And again, Russia was going to play along, even although the whole point of the space race was to meet the Russians, the moon. I know, just it, it, it, it, it gets a noise. Flat earthers do those fucking. The same thing, I mean, same thing, like the one of the greatest pictures of all time, they took from the moon. And you can see this beautiful little blue marble we live on. And it's like, it's flat. It's, it's your one's as dumb as the other. But I, it's people like, Drake may use in that platform, Kyrie Irving, right? They have millions and millions of, of followers. And that's why you're flat earthers. Yeah. Well, I'm saying he said, there's, okay, there's more flat earthers now. It's a rather world to it. He's world is round. That's right. Moons from a celebrity Jersey to the moon landing. I just say it's because people like this flap their gums about it. They're right. The people people are following them. There's more flat earthers now than there was 200 years ago. It's embarrassing. And we have, we have, in our hand, we have all that knowledge. And ironically, I did just mention it in the day, we got that son of conspiracy. I mean, you know, that, that, that went down the way people figured the ugly way. But I like I said, just it's just a, it's an insult to all these people at the time, the money, the, the energy spent. And I just, it drives me nuts. And people with a big platform. Yeah. Like, you know, he seems like a pretty good guy. But, you know, I tell people to look up those guys names. These are three guys, military guys who literally were incinerated and the quest that gets to the moon. And this week's recommendation, a poll happen. Go fucking watch the fucking movies. Armageddon. No, we're all mankind. You just said it. Do you know what you're pulling out of your pocket? What's next? JFK assassination? What are we getting at here? It's a rock from the moon. Just the double check here. Does Boosh actually have a lazy guy? Yeah. And Steve Nash. Oh, okay. Mike Gardner also had a lazy eye. Okay. Oh, I know how he escaped. Really? 30 goals. What? I don't want to be conspiracies. Hey, don't say that. I was here. Spawning. No, no, no, I hear you. Is there anything else hockey related that you guys want to talk? Yeah. Why, why don't I spend you guys seem to chew gum like in the NHL? Like I started a little clip, huh? All cards. Yeah. And, and well, yeah, because I think that you're like required to wear a mouthguard now. I know. No, but physical sport way more so than others. Okay. Where, buddy, you get hit the wrong way. All right. It's in your throat. You're fucking getting the Heimlich from Babs on the craziest thing is how guys play with shoes in their mall. No, that's the most insane thing. It's in a rocking chair. Like with a head buzzer. It's not on the black and table tape. I heard Carl. I made the mistake. I hadn't done one of those in ages made the mistake last week. I almost went down for the car. I don't think I'm allergic to you. You were on the moon. Uh, because we have Terry here, though, you have gotten a chance to know Connor a little bit. Like, is there anything like anything that like surprised you about his personality and you're, you're doing these commercials with him and Wayne. So that must have been. Yeah. What did he ask for? Uh, draft case. Yeah. It's, um, you know, it's a unique experience, right? Of course, I never thought that would happen. Guys, honestly, I, I do a lot of, um, events most of them through Jackson events, whether that's public speaking or going and play a weekend of hockey with, uh, you're kind of a fantasy camp sort of thing that we do. And I do quite a few. So I was doing one in the summer last year. And I didn't realize it was McDavid's tournament. Um, and it was, uh, there's two or three charities who were donating to. It was in Muscoca and Boosh was there. Um, Adam Henry was there, uh, Ryan Getzloff, Owen Nolan, the ex players who was wilded, uh, Doug Gilmore, Wendell Clark. So I really all those guys, Jackson events. Jackson events. He helps all those old school leaf skies. Yeah. Exactly. So we'll, we'll often do events that require 10 to 20 former NHLers. So, um, you know, I'm kind of on that, uh, you tore off of sorts. If you want to say that, we did an event last week, two of them, uh, in Vaughn, uh, Princess Margaret foundation, uh, cure for cancer. We raised three, three point seven million dollars. Um, when the day before we were in raising money for the children's hospital in, in Oxbridge, Ontario, which is about 45 minute drive, just north of Toronto. And we raised $600,000 there. So these are, and people get in board and they hear about it and, and people that have money. I like doing them because if you want to donate, you can, you're not in anybody's face. A lot of people show up to meet their heroes. I mean, I'm in there doing it with Joey Coaster and Wendell Clark and these guys. And I, it's great work because I look up to those guys, obviously as a hockey player. So I was doing an event and, uh, unbeknownst to me that there were Ben MGM, I mean, we had a great time. I get it. If, if we go to some of these things, right? I pretty much, I'm there because I'm telling some stories. And, uh, maybe they want to hear that. Maybe there's someone from the East Coast, a shoresy fan, but I get why I'm there. So I, I, I, I have some fun. A lot of people draft me, you know, they, they, they, exactly, they want a few beers. They want to hear stories. Exactly what somebody wants to draft when they're going to be burning to be bread made. They can tell stories. They're going to tell them the ones behind the scenes that can't be told on the mic. And it, exactly. And it's a lot of fun, right? So the people pay a lot of money to do that. So we go, and we tour around great places, Hans Muscoca, one of the nicest places I've ever been. And, um, anyway, um, close to the end of that day, they, I guess they had this idea. They, they always do these commercials, right? John Hamm was in a bunch, Jamie Foxx, grad skin McDayver. We're in a few, we're in one a few years ago. And I guess, um, I don't want to quote them, but I'm, I'm pretty sure that they were looking to do a new one. And, uh, very much planning on it. And they didn't have, uh, someone to dance with Connor sort of thing, right? Like, I, I'm sure they had ideas, but they didn't know exactly what they, the way I understand it is that they asked me to do it. And then they wrote it after that. But they knew that in September, this was August, they're doing this commercial. So jigs and reels. And there's a lot to unpack some stuff. I don't really feel comfortable saying, but, um, it was, uh, of course, I was overwhelmed. All these guys are there. And we, we'd had a few beers. So I thought they were put me on. I thought it was some kind of, I was getting pumped. But no, no. And I went over and I talked to Mr. McDavid and, um, his agent Adam and Connor's wife Lauren is from, uh, Sudbury and so is Leon's. And I didn't know that. And so they knew all about the show. And I, we hang out, like, we go to Sudbury, we hang, we, we don't, we're not living the acting life. We're living the hockey play and go out for supper, meet the people in town, you know, take out our friends like we really, and I, I like Sudbury. I love it. I got a lot of friends there now. Some of course were mutual. So I think that might have had something to do with it. I don't know, but I went home and within a couple of days, they said, hey, can you be out in Edmonton and so and so a date, which wasn't far. And I just looked at my daughter. I gave her a big hug because I knew they were thinking about it. And, um, you know, it really did, like I'm going to say, it changed the course of my life. But it was a break that, you know, you work for some things and you see it coming, right? You go to school for four years. You get your degree. Okay. Now I'm going to, I didn't see that comment. And, um, it was overwhelming. But it was great. I got to meet. And now I, I can call Connor a friend. I, I had his numbing. I'm like, what do I do? I was looking at the boys going, do I text them? Do I? But I did end up text the fuck telling her all. Can you imagine? Call right now. If you go to the other side of the video, you can find the link in the description.
those are the Olympics. What do I say? Hey, good try. Like, you know, I mean, so like, good luck. But what I did do, no, we went out there to play a game with Jersey. We play, we play, you know, just thought much. I mean, I might have told him a story about the fuck tent. I mean, what am I going to do? We're sitting right next to each other. He's like, uh, we're going to need a new actor with me in this commercial. Yeah. We should, we should sell these a Canadian tire to get it with honors, brother. We had, and I, I still don't know how you guys found out about that, whatever. And it's been totally overblown, whatever I take it. I might even get a tattoo while I'm here. Um, but anyway, uh, yeah, he just, yeah, he's a really great dude. So what we did when I went out again, how am I ever going to contact Conno McDavid? I was still kind of awestruck even after we maybe spent the day together. We did have a lot of fun and we told a lot of stories. It really was. He was so laid back and I kind of felt for him because every time people interview him or approach him, they're almost nervous. Like, it's always asking for something or a hockey quote. And then when we were there, like, you know, anybody in Edmonton who wants Conno McDavid's autograph already has it. Okay. So I'm out there and I did play in the West when they don't get out there as much as Connor, obviously. So some people were, but they were coming over and I could tell like with me, they were much more jovial and like, they saw like, I got nothing to explain anymore. 20 years ago, I would have, but now they were like, sure, and you know, great, great. You made it back and you know, it was kind of like, people were really easy, but they looked over it now. They wanted to meet him more, but they were kind of looking like they're very calm. And then they were like, so what do you think of the power play on the Calgary flames? And he's like, dude, and I'm like, yeah, man, he gets that all the time. People just, it's just another world to be in, right? It's another world. So it's impossible to really get a read on Conno McDavid. Not that time is best friend from interviews or anything like that because he's always has to be on more so than any other player or person. I even, I don't know if it was like it for Wayne Gretzky. And I'm not putting any, it's Gretzky. I'm saying it was a different era without the social media. And every single person is judging you or asking for something, right? So I didn't ever ask Conno for anything, even though I wanted to go, can you please sign these six jerseys that I have right here? I really mean it. I didn't ask him. I asked him to sign one for a friend who had cancer. That was it. And then a few months later, when we had the shorzy classic with our a's joined us on there before we, I called him and his wife, Lauren, has a place bar trove in a really cool place in Edmonton. So I was like, Hey, you want us to go over there? The only thing I could ever do for you is bring over some guys from shorzy and we'll have a great time. And senior was there and put on a show. I gotta, I gotta say, as soon as we went in, it's a small little place, really classy, really, really enjoy it. My spot for some appetizers and a drink. And if we ended up shutting down the bar, it was a lot of fun. But it's not like I talked to him every day, but that's fucking what was the question? No, I just like, you go from, you know, from everything you've been doing, like doing shorzy and next thing, you know, you're rubbing elbows with Conno McDavid doing a commercial. So I just thought it was cool. And it's like been a cool come up to see your rise. And I'm sure you got more on your plate moving forward. So congrats on all your success. Thank you very much. And chick, let's come tomorrow, baby. Hey, and let's win our first chick, let's cop. Hey, let's do it. Let's go. How do you feel about the team? Well, it's pretty much the same. I'll say a few things. How do I feel about the team? There's a lot to unpack. I've always felt great about the team. I've always felt great. Good. If you were at Utah, brought up a Vetskin earlier, what would you, if he two, three years before he won the Stanley Cup, what do you think he would say? What do you think? Conno McDavid's would say right now. Do you think he, thanks to, do you think, well, maybe I won't go to the final this year? No, he's going to go. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go, baby. Wayne Gretzky, what's the famous other than you miss all the shots that you don't take, whatever it is. You know, I remember him talking about coming out and learning how to win after the Islanders beat him. And they had ice pack and there was silent. And they were partying. And they were leaving. And he said that meant a lot to me. I guess the point is, and we're in Boston. And the 1914 Boston Braves, I don't know if you guys know this story in July, they were 15 games out. And they came back to sweep the World Series. Do we need to talk about the Red Sox? What about in 2004? If you said, you know what, you guys don't have a chance. I know it's been a hundred years, almost in the cursive of Ambino. So just pack it up. No, they said, let's fucking go. It's what they say. You want to go Boston massacre, Boston Tea Party. These were bad, these were battles that they lost. Like the attorney was a lot of help on saying this. Yes, it wasn't. We love. Well, how did you guys doing it? We lost. We lost the breadth and midnight express. The best team ever, arguably red light on here. It no, in the Canadian ball hockey history, I know it's three on three not five on five, but we lost the, so they were really good. Like they've been our nemesis for years. When we go back and this cameras go off, we play them. And they usually win, but we have beat them. We have beat them. And I will finish this by saying, Boston Massacre, Burst and Tea Party, those are things, but those were part, right here, we're at sitting in America. 1770 was the first one, 1773, 1776. You guys, you declared your independence, but you didn't gain it. You gained it in 1781 when the British stopped fighting because the first fucking battle that George Washington won in nine was the Battle of Yorktown. And he fucking won it. And we're sitting here today because of that. If he'd given up after two or three, then we wouldn't be. So let's do it. And if you weren't a history, Boffie wouldn't have got that game that you scored preseason game. Very chill. He goes the coach said we know your history. And it was against Boston. I got one last minute. We were just talking. I'll show us. Yeah, buddy. Jared Kees was a new show coming out. Yeah, there. I can't kill the beer. Are you, are you part of it? No, okay. I wasn't thinking about it. Yeah. What's up? Hopefully someday. No, it's hilarious. We're. George chairs in it. Yeah. Yeah. Who's Jack roba? Yeah. Is that the J rock? He's from Nickelback. No, Nickelback. No, yeah. But J rock from J rock. J rock's in there from Jonathan Torrance. George. He had a poor boy. Yeah, I changed my right boy. He's from so much more, but he's he's great. Yeah. And that's where it has a still universe. And who knows, man. Yeah. I think it's funny. And who knows? Maybe he'll write another show in three years. I would be on the show. Yeah, it's just fun to be part of whatever sandbox. He'll include you love me. I feel now, you know, and once in a while, I'll run into, like, you know, someone from Letter Candy that we're not in the same show, but we do feel like we're in the same universe. Jared, again, Jared Kiso played hockey, played junior A. I know he didn't play pro, but still it's relatively similar. The way dressing rooms work. There's a hierarchy. He knows what it's like to pick up pucks as a 16 year old. He gets it. Right. So I guess that's an advantage A, when you're doing a hockey show, but B, when you're just doing so much, because you're a team, right? Yeah. So I'm sure when we close the door, I'm sure as he all hear from Jared again, one way or the other. And vice versa. Absolutely. Good stuff here. What an all-raise roll, man. Yeah. Fuck. Got myself reading Jersey. I'll play it up. Chicken's cop. I'm about to take senior now over to Fenway Park. He hasn't been so I've I've been born. Well, he played in Boston. It was 50 years ago, man. He's 74 years old. So, um, and still kicking with, but I love that area. But my favorite place to have a beer anywhere in the world is Fenway Park. When I would train, I used to come down to feel I know this. I used to go to Falmouth with a guy named Paul Vincent. He had this. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's, yeah. Canadians fans are going to hate me now for this. But I would come in the summer. Yeah. Yeah. Well, I figured it's a great spot. Cape Cod reminds me a lot of Newfoundland. First of all. And then, you know, it's short drive up to see, uh, and I really do love. I'm not playing you up. It's one of my favorite cities in the world. You do it now with all the concerts that they have at Fenway. Yeah. Yeah. All summer. There's concerts every week. So you should come up a few years ago. I had killed me. I had tickets for Bill Burr down there and the flight didn't get out. He did Fenway. He did. Yeah. Fenway. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I must have been incredible. Um, do you think I'll start it? No. No. I did. The ramp up who you're rooting for in the, uh, check what's going on. I'm, I'm, I'm, oh, yeah. Shit. I forgot. I'm, but I'm coaching the women's a six, seven local. So that's, that's my squad. I'm rooting for. I'm locked in on that. So I, I'll see how things transpired. I, who, uh, before then, I mean, obviously the Boston Strangles local squad by eye on them. But right now, I'm focused on women's a six, one, seven locals and hopefully getting a title for my gals. Oh, yeah. Well, T. R. It's great to see you. It's going to be fun weekend. R. A. Thanks for that moon talk. To the moon. Thank you to Swaggy P. So very excited for this weekend. Everyone watching. Thank you so much. Everyone listening. Thank you so much. We'll be back to you Tuesday or actually probably Monday because I think we're recording Sunday together before everyone takes off Sunday morning. Um, and we'll be able to kind of talk about how and what went down this weekend at Chicken Scup, along with all the NHL action. Love you all. Have a great weekend. Don't happen. It's going to happen again.
