Yeah, it's a great where the pack rim in Vancouver is on the corner where that whale is the like the fake whale. The all glass one North Vancouver. And it's huge. It's like a fucking size of a Costco. They could probably see 400 people in there. And there was a couple guys in there and one of them on the way down told me he was from Thunder Bay, one other guy through the glass near the kitchen. I end up going later on the week to a restaurant called Nightingale that my buddy David Hawksworth owns that Kevin B. Exo put me in touch with. And sure enough, I walked in those two guys from Thunder Bay were there again. Same two guys sitting right there as soon as they walked in. So we've been getting the pinkies up attacks going way through North America. What province are we? What provinces are we in or not in because I get messages I wish we could still be here, but where is in Canada? I think maybe it's in Quebec right now and then maybe one other province because it's been the tariffs took it away. Yeah, the big guy in the USA, he really fucked us with those fucking alive. Oh yeah. He really fucking holds us with those. We're going to have to get that figured out. I mean, there's plenty of people in Alberta and British Columbia and Ontario and all over the country. And he turned 40 and it was a banger. So did memes go out? Memes flew out to him and him and oldie have been on this tour for the last three weeks. I shut out to Canadian oldies wife. Yeah. Wow. I don't know. He's married. Yeah. Married with kids and this guy went from I think he started yet something going on at Toronto. Then he flew out to stampede. He was at stampede for like nine days. By the way, if you're at stampede for nine days, you need a liver transplant. You need a brain transplant. Like you're that's fucked. That's like, you know, that could be a two night like a Vegas type. All right. That's like going to Vegas tonight. See you later. Like don't want to see it for another year. So he goes there for like eight, nine days. I don't even think they had a ticket or anything planned. And sure enough, they end up getting like brought around there in this box. That box tickets to this. They're Ella Langley. All the studies mean her backstage meeting this guy backstage. Then he flies all the way. I think he went back to Toronto. He was there less than 24 hours. And then off to P.E.I. Prince, I go to see your kids. He's like, no, I just had to do some laundry. He didn't even talk. He just had to do. No, his wife had to do it. He didn't do in his laundry. Just G strings and fucking half, half crop tops. And then off the P.E.I. and then he went from P.E.I. right over to B.C. And he, I think he was sleeping on memes his buddies couch for a few days. And then of course, over to Jeff's birthday, which was a riot. Obviously a lot of people, I think there was like 140 people that ended up showing up. He did it at a, he'd been to a concert before the Arkels, big Canadian band. I think they got like 220 people in for the Arkels concert. And he went and saw it. So he's like, oh, this is a cool venue. It's an old strip club. It used to be a supper club, turning a strip club. It's a pretty clean strip club on the inside, surprisingly. And then he got a DJ. And then like I said, it was just booked out for all of us and our friends 140 of us. So everybody showed up. It was a great time and celebrated, celebrated him in style, man. Well, well, did you did you give a speech, kind of just like describing how good we got Jeff, Jeff wrote the speech. Jeff gave it to himself. No. So we had, so you got to keep in mind like all the people there, like Jeff went to like high school with. So they know Jeff even more so than I do. So I like, I'm not a big speech guy. I called Jeff obviously beforehand, like and always tell them how appreciative I am of them and like how much I love them. Obviously, like took care of the DJ, like helped them out and said, hey, you're happy birthday. I don't know. Do you think that's weird that I didn't give him a speech? No, no, I was going to be surprised if you did, but I thought the moment might have just kind of overtaken you. I thought you're I thought you're only involvement was the sign. The sign just said, if you know Jeff come in. Yeah. That was well, actually no. So he thought of that himself or something. And so they put that up on the billboard out of front. And then my idea was to put come as in CUM because it was a strip club. There you go, boy. That's bitch right there. And then he was like, no, I'm not going to do that. Okay. Well, that was my contribution. He's like, I'm 40. He said, but let's make it dirty. Let's make a nasty to strip club. He's like, I don't know, man. He's like, it was a strip club. No, it's still is. Oh, it is still is still is. Yeah. So like the strippers came out after everything was said and done wrapped up around one. So they got to do a quick way. They gave a speech. They gave a speech. It was it was like a I'm now in Victoria, but it was There's a good little, what was it, a nine day rip? I got to go see like some of my friends have had kids over the last couple of years. I got to hang out with them and see like how much they've grown and how much they've come along and just to kind of, you know, fill the love tank up with the people that I know north of the border. So now I'm in Victoria for the base of the rest of summer. And yeah, I'm excited to just kind of get some downtime here. - Yeah, and so I gotta ship your golf clubs back to you. That'll happen at some point. That might take a couple of days. - What do you mean, what do you have as golf clubs? - Well, I took as golf clubs when we landed in Boston so that he didn't have to then bring them to Baltimore where he was going, see enough to lug them around Baltimore, you know, so I was like, oh, I'll take them home. Now, part of that was shipping it to them. That was, that was an eight days ago. It's one of those things where you just gotta do it, right? Like I have a problem of like, I gotta do this. When the lights are the brightest, do I show up not necessarily? Family food wasn't for me, but I still just don't know why I wanted to win that race against Ace Flag. Talk about the wrong name. He should have been named Cooper. You were like, you were like what? She goes what the fuck was that movie? Did I say I'm like, Leo? You're talking about? No, I don't. There's a scene in what's the last movie he did? Once a lot of time and a lot of time, Hollywood goes to the trailer. That was wet going in this trailer. That was to be. I'm never going to do that again. I just smashed and he's drinking again. And then people realize how foolish I looked. The other part was that just like two weeks ago we were driving into the city. It's somehow the saber truck came up. And I was like, you know what? It's crazy because you played 10 games after your second year of Michigan left And then four full years in the NHL. You've only missed five games at four years. It's very impressive So how you feeling right now? How's the summer going good? Good. Yeah, summer's good. Summer's nice to be Nice to be home. Um, I mean, I love it. I you know, love being in Seattle But I love being home with my buddies my friends my family You know, just getting a nice routine at home. You know, I used to work out with yand and I was just a pup too Where do you train now? I would train to be you now. We used to be DPS And now we're all a lot of the guys have migrated over to be you because we're all kind of living in the city It's skate there after well skate there a little bit of warrior with some of the bees guys or You know, go down to there. You go to up to woober and you kind of like a little bit outside the city Okay, it's crazy how many got like when we started there was What five of maybe some NHL guys but not the ton of got now well like your group There's so many Boston guys around your skates and workouts must be unreal. Yeah, so Will Smith said they lived together in the summer Oh, Santa was a shark spinning. What? I don't know what you got. He's like well. He's like we are Defending champs of a co-ed softball league. We don't know. Oh, yeah So he won at the gyps of the south softball league Of course, it's co-ed too. I'm like, oh, shocker spin. I'm actually double co-defendant I've been one and hang a mass where our names bank street um and we play with like it's like Let's say 15 teams all like kids from hang out or like outside to hang on every like different year Like this is the last year we can do this. We're aging out. Yeah, yeah So we won it last year and then smitty heard that he was like we got to do one in south theme It actually has been a blast. We want to last year There's pretty pretty fun and we're back again this year. We're one and one. We lost our first game. So I know um, why are you aging? Oh, I don't really other other one. There's just younger. Yeah, it's a high school game I just like all right, I'm fresh from the NHL now Planning it to hang them high freshmen that played for the football team. Yeah McConaughey and in days and confused. Yeah, what's been he said you got to ask him about our pickleball battle So you two are just like head-to-head. I know he said that he was gonna bring this out. I'll get I'll give him this prop You're getting drum by him, aren't you? I got demolished Like and I would say I'm pretty athletic guy like I'm You know, I grew up playing every sport and like that's what we do in our free time It's like all right. You want to go play hoops? Perfect. You want to go play softball pickleball? Pickleball he shelled me like I didn't get a point the first game we played and then I was like All right, now I'm like sweating out there. I'm running back and forward and you're rattled Yeah, I was rattled he's a great small area game, buddy. I love it. I absolutely and I suck at tennis I can't I can't get the topspin on it. So my ball goes into whatever two is in a workout. No one on one You're not always a baggy. Yeah, at one point he's brother Brian and I I think we went like 15 days in a row Like three out of five sets games to 11 like good work all it's your heart rate gets going too nice because you're doing the quick feet Yeah, it's like you're doing the ladder drill, but you're not having to think about it. Why you laughing? You're gonna do the ladder anymore? Is that not one of the workouts? But I don't know if I would say pickleball is like the ladder. Well, because you're could you're kind of like going like just the whole time Yeah, yeah quick feet quick feet quick feet. Exactly. I used to love the ladder drill. I used to have quick feet surprisingly I was a demon working the corner as well. Yeah, and then they switch me to forward and then I had to go all up and then you had to get on the ladder a lot. Yeah Smitty drives me nuts though because he is one of those kids. It's just very good at everything. Oh, no, you're playing golf with them. He's smat. I'm like, okay, I'm not done. I did dust him in golf last week. You got him. All right, good You guys like you guys have a group text going where when he's walking in with these these outfits and all these girls are comments and all the time you guys just give it to him Not really like I don't give it to him much. I mean He's got his he's got his stuff figured out a little bit You know what happened that woman who did the video of him in celebration. Yeah, he's like yeah after that it goes a little insane. Oh, and then he was like, now practices at San Jose, there's like hundreds of girls at their practices. They call it the aquarium because of that show. No, I'm fucking serious, man. Really? Well, not because of the sharks. That would make sense too, but that because of that show. Yeah. Fucking all the birds. It is insane. And it's, it's constant. It's constant. It's constant. Are you guys the same age? I'm two years all of them. I don't even know when we got tight. It was just one summer and he was we were skating together and just yeah, became, but not it, not it N T D P together either. No, he was the year I left. So he was actually no, yeah, yeah. I was at Michigan by the time he was there. My family kind of knew his parents because his mom went out with him to Michigan and my mom did the same. And I kind of like knew of him. And then probably like two, three years ago, we started like skating together in the summers, working out kind of a good time together. And then I think I started, I used to live with Barard in the summers, the guys with the Rangers, I kind of, and then he went back to Providence and then I like living with someone and Smitty kind of needed someone to live with in Boston. So worked out well. What is the routine like in the summer because we talk a lot how guys are on their skates all summer? We never did that. Are you skating now pretty constantly or no? Not yet. No. Okay. More like my biggest thing is, you know, getting bigger. And so for me, like going on the ice at this point probably wouldn't be the smartest thing for me at least, but it's different for every guy like Smitty's probably skating twice a week right now, maybe a little bit more. For me, it's like all weight room until probably next week and then I'll get back on the ice and start doing like two or three times a week. Okay. Yeah. If you're getting on like late July. Yeah. Oh, for sure. I just said that was one of the things I regretted the most is I wish I would have just not even to like bag myself and conditioning was more about just staying on your edges. Let's ladder more skates. That's the problem, man. I was going too hard on the ladder drill, man. Yeah. Well, I did that last summer too. We're like, I went to worlds. And then by the time I was back, everyone was already skating and I was like, oh, fuck, I got to, I got to skate now because everyone, everyone in the gym skating. So I didn't really have that much time off last summer, but you won the gold. But we won't. So that was sweet. So yeah, I was giving take, but then this summer I was like, I'm going to take some time off. Who were you playing with over there? I played with Smitty a little bit. I was, I was with Smitty and go to a little bit. And then I was with Tom or and Frankie Nasar. So you got to win it. Yeah, I was on the ice, though, when we won it, but yeah, we won the gold. Yeah, that must have been such a cool experience. First time in like 80 years, we also had a great squad. Yeah, the team was loaded. Fun as a look fun group going out. Yeah. Yeah. Where was that? We were in Denmark, herning Denmark in the middle of nowhere. There was like one bar. I should have a funny one from that. But one of the most like the moralizing moments of all time. We just are in the round robin. We were playing pretty well too. And we got sheld by Switzerland on a back to back. We played them. You would have thought these guys were winged grad scale. They're skating around us. It was like the Russians in a Switzerland jersey. Unbelievable. I was like, what is, we were all like, what is going on? And so we finished the game and like, you know, I don't think we had anything in the next day. So we were like, all right, we're going to go center town and eat some food and have a couple beers. I don't know. And we get there and the entire, every single Switzerland fan that was in Denmark was in on this street. And they started, they all stood up. We walked right through the middle of them. They all stood up and started like doing this chant. It was like, we had so embarrassing. I think I went home after that. They sent me home. They played them again. They played them in the finals. Okay. All right. So pay back. Yeah. We got a little pay back there. But yeah, it was, it was a great time. I would definitely go back. Yeah. This year just kind of didn't feel it. Yeah. This year just wasn't, yeah, I just wanted to get home and train. Yeah. That was kind of the biggest thing for me this summer. I was like, I got to get bigger. You know, you look at a lot of, you know, sentiment around the league, you know, something they're, bigger. They're stronger guys that helps them with, you know, the corners and draws, you know, just like shutting down other guys as well. So that was for me. That's kind of like my next. It's, it's a fine line, though, because you're trying to like gain weight and gain size, but yet the game, it seems like year over year, it just keeps getting faster and faster. So how do you kind of find that balance? Like, what do you do for workouts? And how are you? How do you, how do you feel that you're like kind of retaining the weight? Yeah, it's just like putting on more muscles. It's not really like, I don't want like a belly, you know, no, like more than an army. Oh, no, but yeah, it's just like putting on more muscle. And I do think that for myself as well, like putting on more muscle, yeah, it's going to give me more weight, but also it's going to make me faster or having more muscle in my legs and my butt. Like those areas are just, they're going to help my skating as well. So for me, it's kind of, which is your strength already, which is one of my strengths. So kind of a double edged sword. That's why I was like, I can't, I can't go this year and kind of just went right back home and just got in the way room. So what do you, like, what are you up like five, 10 pounds already? I lose a lot during the year. So I'm probably up like eight to 10 already. Wow. Another like eight to 10 after that. Like over the course of a game, like you weigh yourself before and after usually before and after a game, not necessarily, but I'll lose like after a practice, like probably three or four pounds. Okay. And mostly waterway, but you just got to like pound water and get it back. We, I remember playing with guys where they would lose 10 pounds over the course of a game because they just leaked. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, especially our goalies, I think, had that issue for a while. But yeah, it is, it is so annoying. I would rather have probably having my situation than the other way of not being able to lose it. Yeah, that's the tough. What is it? How has it been as far as coming in when an organization is pretty much new to like the changes over the past like four years since you've been there? Like is it, is it, you know, obviously getting used to a new city, but like they're getting used to having an NHL team and maybe changing things and doing things differently. Yeah. Well, we're pretty fortunate like they love sports in Seattle. Love it. Great fan base there for unreal. You guys are all there for the outdoor game. Yeah. It was awesome. Yeah. They love sports, regardless of what sport it is. See hawks there. They don't necessarily. They're starting to understand it now, but they were definitely sometimes like the first year of the second year, like a goal gets called back and they're like still going nuts. And you're like, oh, that's about 4 feet. That one didn't count. But no, they've, that's been great. The organization is unbelievable. Like the way we get treated is. Okay. Like how rank you like the rank? The rank is sweet. Like there's some really, they, they, the owners really did it up right. You know, they were, I think they were telling us about like, they were pretty over budget when they first built the rank and built all the stuff because they were like, all right, well, if we're going to do this, we got to do it right. Do it the right way. So they're, they're pretty awesome about that and the way they, the way they treat us out there is pretty second and not. I mean, I haven't played on other teams. So I would say like, it's pretty unreal. Well, even from, I'm sure you guys talk and some are workouts. Yeah. You guys got like, we were talking about it yesterday. When we were in with Phoenix, like the league on dust, it was, we were buying our own lunches. Like now, everything is there for you guys. Yeah. And yeah, do you talk guys talking about how great it is over there for sure? Yeah. Compared compared to. Oh, yes. Yeah. It's fun because you're rookie year. You guys, you made the, you know, you make the playoffs. Yeah. When, didn't they call it wrong? Yeah, game seven. Nope. And then went to game seven, the second round. Dallas. Yeah. Yeah. So and then all of a sudden, it's been, you know, more difficult, right? For sure. Like part of it probably is like, it was great making the playoffs and the fans love it, but you didn't end up getting like another high pick with yourself, right? You know, like that's probably something where you look at both sides. It was great to get in, but oh, we, we almost maybe might have been better off being like worse that year. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. I don't know. It's not, it's definitely, no, it's not. You're, you're right. I mean, it's tough regardless. Like you look at, yeah, gosh, you look at this year, like we were, we were in a spot for so long. Yeah, you started off good started off great. You know, we've went to second half of the year after the break and just couldn't, couldn't really get that mojo going again, get that confidence. The team, you know, we, we got really hot right before the break. So, you know, sometimes it's just a little bit of that. It's like, are you hot at the right time, or right time in the year? You know, you look at, God, she look at Detroit too. Like obviously there's all that stuff going on right now, but like they were in a playoffs spot for almost the entire year. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, so, and I think we got enough veteran presence to like, you know, get us over that edge of like, okay, we put ourselves in a great spot this year to make it now the last 20 games. You got to just like make sure you're, you're winning. You're just playing winning hockey. Like, that's all that matters at that point. And for you, it's your fourth year. I think you've had three coaches already, right? Yeah. Yeah. Coach killer. No, not. No, bringing in veteran guys like Brandon Montorra comes over guys like that who have won. Like, if you're not used to a coach, like, you got to have the guys in the locker room who are helping out. And I know you've been around four years. I'm sure you're related to but having those veteran guys must be huge. in being in Seattle, getting those guys to come there is huge as well. - Yeah, no, having those guys are huge. You know, guys that have been in playoffs, you know, won cops. You know, we have, you know, Schwarzenegger there, we had Montor, you know, Vince Don, we got a lot of guys that have, uh, Stevenson, we got a bunch of guys that have won it, that have done it, then know how to do it. Um, you know, I think the organization also, and they part of the reason why we've had different coaches, is like they want to win now, and that's pretty important to them. I think our, you know, our ownership group and, you know, management group is trying to be as aggressive as possible and like get new people, get new guys. So I think that could be a potential reason for the turnover as well as, you know, the lack of success, um, throughout the, throughout the team or the team, you know, not doing as well as we should have. So, yeah, it's tough. It's tough year to year, but, you know, it was pretty promising last try. I think we, we had a really good team. We, we did a good enough job to hopefully make it in. We didn't make it in and, you know, we're next year we do. I was out there for that winter classic game. And, uh, we, we were gonna meet you guys at that bar. We saw you. The one where, yeah, Queen Anne Beerehall. Yeah, that was a fun time for their washless. Is that where you guys, your local watering hole? We're around you to find a good spot. Yeah, yeah, you're saying I was. Oh, I got some. Oh, yeah. I think I didn't think I did. But, uh, it seemed like you guys, like, basically every guy was out. Yamamoto was out his old man. Oh, my God. Was that guy? Fuck it funny. Oh, yeah, he was. Yeah, everyone's just in one. Oh, he was in one. But it seemed like you guys had a very tight group. No, we do. We do. We have a great group. We have a great group of guys. It's unreal, but. I was with Ebb's when he was a rookie living. He tells me so many stories about you. Yeah, we're gonna leave those on. It was a frat house. We used to go there and hang in there. It was a legitimate frat house. But now he's, what do they have? Three kids. Oh, yeah, one on the way too. Oh, shit. Oh, yeah. They're gonna keep. Wow. Yeah, he's such a good guy, man. He's captain, right? Yeah. Yeah. What's he like in the rose? He loud in the room. Is he more kind of example? Well, he's a little bit of both like he doesn't like, I don't think he's talking when he doesn't feel like he needs to, but he always jump in if, you know, if he needs to, I think it's fiery too. He gets when he gets pissed off. He can get a little fiery, but he doesn't, he tried. He's a pretty good at staying pretty calm in the room and, you know, being somewhat collected and. But yeah, he just like love, I mean, he loves the game. Oh, yeah. Love you. You got off your playing that love. He loves hockey. He loves hockey more than maybe any guy I've ever met and he wants to watching it, consuming it, like watching the league all the time. It's his life. I mean, it's all a part of what I've made but like that guy, like he wants to win so badly, like it's his, it's his everything. So that's pretty cool to have a guy like that on your team and also like watch that. He's kind of hockey's a version of Michael Strayhand. He's got that little gap in his feet. He's like a signature. He loves it. He used to chirp that. He's like, yeah, this is me though. You're right. He knows. I don't know what you're a gap in his team. What if he ever ended up taking a puck in the mouth and like, how do you get to do? He'd make him, he'd make him put a gap in no way. For sure. That's his look. The first ever. His cat is hero. Like the crew that you guys had in it was like the trust scots, like that, the Fantilly's. Like I think that was the class you came in with, right? Those guys, the hockey house there, like you got, talk about your time at Michigan man. Like that, that culture that they have there is, it's unlike anything I've seen. Like before you go, so like a mascot going to Michigan. That's kind of a crater. I don't know where. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'm actually going to leave that. I'm going to have to sub titles. No, I mean, I wasn't supposed to go. You kind of told that last time. I guess I was supposed to go to Harvard. Then that all kind of went into the win when COVID happened. So I ended up going to Michigan because I knew trust got and bored alone. Those are guys that I played with at the program. And then also you like they had power and they had Johnson. They had that we were we were stacked. And so we got there and it was just an unreal mix of like we had older guys that, you know, loved hockey, took it super seriously, also loved to get after it and go have a great time. And then we had a lot of young guys coming in like my class was a lot of young guys that like probably took hockey a little bit more on the serious side and like didn't love going out. But it was a great match of like the older guys kind of forced us all out. The young guys all listened and went out like we didn't have one, one post game where like we didn't have everybody there ever, not once, not once regardless of if you drank. If you didn't drink at all, like you just had to be there and we were all there all the time and we had a blast doing it. Oh my gosh. Was it fun? Ricks to the Gato shots. Ricks. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. The Fratz all got canceled and the bars were closed. So the hockey team was like prime location now. Everybody came to our parties. It was unreal. It's never been. It was never like that. Uh, Monday mornings, like we would Monday mornings, we'd never wore masks. Ever. No. Monday morning, every guy had a mask. Just to clean every guy. Every guy had a mask. We all had masks. We all had to get tested on Mondays and it was like a pretty scary morning. We were all like fuck. Like one of us has it. One of us has it. Never, never anyone got it or like not until we got it, which is the craziest coincident of all time, the weekend before the tournament, we were going to the national tournament. We were like, we're not going out. So everyone stayed in. We were like, we can't risk this after we just did it all year, all year. We can't risk it. That's swerved up your voice. So no one went out. Not one guy went out. We were like, all right, we're going to do this. We're all going to do this together and fucking a guy got it right right when we got there and then we got kicked out of the tournament and then we got back back on the horse. But you couldn't even play in the tournament. We didn't. One guy had it. Yeah, one guy. One guy had it and then based on like the rules at that point in time, it was like. One guy had it and then other guys had to quarantine for like two weeks because they were around that. That was the fake. That was the fake world we all lived in. I got yelled at and you're not killing down the groceries and the garage going off. I'm like, ah, we have to kill you. Oh, wait. Hey, golf's open again, but you can't have rakes of rakes in the bunkers. I'm like, what? Looking back now. Oh, you couldn't play an NCAA tournament because the guy had the cold. I was just drilling pots just to hit the flag. Yeah, that birdie. That's right. Oh, yeah. Did the cup around? Yeah, the cup. Yeah. Then they had the little handle to lift the ball to a cup. But nobody used it. I kind of wish they still had. That was kind of like the butter. I didn't use it though. Um, what do you add? What do you use? What do you make of how like the college hockey rise and how popular it is and just like the growth of it in general? And guys playing in the AHL and then going back to college now, you say some of that. It's crazy. I love it. I mean, it's great for college hockey. I think it's rightfully so like I think college. We would always have these debates like Canadian junior league versus college high. I don't even think it's close to be a but it does suck now. And I went on when they made the rule of CHL to you to NCAA and I was like, this is amazing for college hockey. It is. And it's made it, you know, it's definitely above that now. But as an American kid, it is like while American kids are kind of getting going to get crushed here a little bit because every good Canadian players go with CHL and then NCAA. Yeah. They'll get maybe they'll get pushed out a little bit. They need more teams. It's going to be more progress. Yeah. More teams. We'd be great. There's all these club teams. You probably see. Oh yeah, it's not. What about out in Seattle? There must be. University of Washington. Let's get them a program. They have a good club program. Yeah. They should. I mean, why not? I think they have a organ. Oregon has a really good club program. Really? I mean, they have like they take their jersey. They I see all the videos. It's not. It's not. It's all these teams. I mean, that guy is impressive. You sit down with him. He was a coach. He was my assistant when I was there. Okay. And then he got the head job. And then he got the head job when I left. What was it? Mel. Mel was my first and second year. Mel Pearson. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. What's my pitch to go to? I mean, it's unbelievable. Like heaven on earth. Yeah, I didn't really. Getting me. Yeah. We talk about it all the time. It's like a different. Like, being from Boston, you know, BCBU and Harvard and Northeastern, right? Like, it's just a different echelon of school. Like, it's a Saturday, game day, the football, everyone's marching over. It is. We've never experienced anything like that. No, I would have never known at all unless I went there. So it was unbelievable, but the hockey is unbelievable. The way you get treated, like you get treated just as good as you are in the NHL at Michigan. They give you meals, you know, you get game day meal, game day meals, chef the night before, you know, you get the money you get for your rent and food is like, you get the, yeah, but you just get treated so well. And you're going, you're getting a great education too. You're going to Michigan University, great education, and just so much fun. So like, you kind of have, like the trifecta and all the sports are good. Yeah. So like, it's not just hockey. You got basketball doing well. So it's fun. You get to go like, see these guys and watch them playing. Now you're watching them in the NFL or in the NBA. That's pretty sweet. The big 10 is in a great spot for hockey. They got the dough. Now I don't think you're, everyone's making the decision based on just the money for college hockey. You didn't hate? Were you getting dough? Very little. Like, like, an I/O money? Little bit. I was around. Yeah. Right. My first year just kind of started getting going. Could you transfer it? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. out when you were there. It was that more new than that might have in my last year. I don't love that role. I don't mind one change. I don't mind one either. I don't mind one leaves. You should get one. If even if the coach stays, I don't mind one because if you're going into your junior year and you're you've got a big recruiting class, you didn't play sophomore year. It's like, all right, I want but the every year thing is the every year thing just takes all like the culture out of school. It's like, it needs to. I agree with you. One's fine. Like, yeah, okay, you're in a bad situation. Like you don't want or you don't want your career to get screwed over because maybe you don't like the coach doesn't like you or you know, maybe it's just you're not getting the opportunity at the school you are. Now you go to a lesser school and now you're doing great and now you have a chance to move great. That's great. But the moving every year is just way too much in my opinion. Yeah. Was it just going back to like your first year and being in college and I remember I was with Hazy after his first year. Yeah. Like was it a tough transition for you because it seems like in college like you guys are always with each other 24/7 right now. I remember Hazy always having to have someone around him just like a guy was tough for you going into the NHL like that. Yeah, that was a little tough for sure. That's why I love being home so much just because you got people around all the time right just to text my golf do whatever. But I had a roommate my first two and a half years. There's Will Borg and you got traded the Rangers. So that was tough right. That's a good dose of like what the process like. All right, this is my best buddy. Gone. Gone. The next day just don't even get to say goodbye. But yeah, no, I like having I like having people around it tonight. It helps so much. And you're right. It's so different like after practice I miss you can we'd all get in the same room and you know go to the hockey us and we go watch TV or we all go play Xbox or like do nothing just together right now you're in pro you live thousands of miles away from your family and it's like you got they all your buddies got families all your buddies got wives and girlfriends and you're kind of like all right, what am I am am I doing now. So you kind of got to figure out what you find some things you like to do outside the ring, you know, keep yourself busy. I got a house in Seattle now. So that kind of keeps me busy. I like take care of that. Yeah. Make sure everything's okay. And you know, do a little like cooking on the side when it's when I'm home alone or I'll go out to dinners. I'll try new restaurants like just like you got to find something to do because otherwise if you're there alone, it's just what's that city like like out of Austin is it like like good restaurants, good restaurants, fun little pockets, right? There are fun pockets. Yeah, it's good really good restaurants. It's definitely bigger than here. It's okay. It's a little bit more spread out. There's a lot going on. Yeah, like Bellevue. Yeah, there's I live on like on Vancouver Island. Yep. So like they got the golf islands and then you guys have like the Roach Harbor and all those little islands and then you can go in that little pocket. There's a bunch of Nash. I don't know if you're in a hiking, but there's a bunch of national forests and beautiful mountains there. The outdoor stuff is awesome. It's just we haven't gotten to do a ton of it. Yeah, because I'm not there in the summers, but like they have a lot of stuff to do when he gets a little bit nicer out. It's it's a little rainy sometimes, but the golf there's great. So that's that's awesome. Golf's great. The restaurants are really awesome. There's like some nightlife. Not a ton, but there's some. It's a bit of a sleepy town. Vancouver doesn't have great nightlife. But yeah, I mean, you're on the road so much. Yeah. Do any guys stay in Seattle for the summer? Right now, I think Schwartz is staying there. He's having a kid. So he's staying there a little bit. Alexiac used to stay and Groobauer used to stay a little bit, but there's not like that's what they're trying to build up there is it's not like Boston Rare. The Boston guy. The bees guys who stay have players everywhere. Well, 15 more players probably more 20, 25 players around that are just like Boston guys. Yeah. So they can skate with us. They can skate with. Oh, it's more of like a resources and having got. Yeah, you need people to skate with and train with and you're in Seattle. You're kind of all alone. Like there's not. There's not that big hockey community there. They're just like just starting it. Okay. Good to know. You guys have to do a lot of stuff with the youth because I remember talking with like donor when the team first went to Phoenix, like they had basically had to start the youth programs and show up and be at those you guys do a lot of that. A lot of it. A lot of stuff. They we do a lot of like community stuff. That's a big, you know, importance of our ownership group and the guys and the team are great about it. Like everyone wants to be involved and like you said, like there's just not that much hockey around. So it's finding ways to like get people into it and you know, you get kids more excited. We go to schools all the time. You know, we do hospital visits. All these different things to just to show your support and then also show them that you're sport a little bit because it's like not even they'll be still be, you know, 15 years from now, there'll be some players coming out. Yeah, hopefully. And look at look at Matthews after Coyote's coming. I know it's years later, but when you look back on like your year this year, the past couple of years, what is like lane Lambert tell you like this needs to be better. Obviously, talk about like just getting like stronger. Like is there anything else that you really focused on? Yeah, I think you have the skill and you have the speed, right? So it's like, what's next? I think it's just like a little bit more like taking some more offensive risks. Like I definitely am, you know, I try to be a two-way player. That's always been kind of my game playing the game the right way, but I think there's some more areas for me to grow on like the offensive side of the puck. Maybe take us more chances, you know, trying to take guys a little bit more one-on-one, taking guys wide a little bit more, just being, you know, maybe a little bit more selfish with the puck sometimes, shooting the puck a little bit more. So it's kind of the offensive side of things. And I think I'm, you know, I think I, I liked my year this year. I thought, I thought as a team, it was, you know, we didn't finish where we wanted to, but as the first three fours of us pretty good. And for myself, I liked, I liked my game throughout. And so it's just like continuing to build in those areas, whether it's like my face offs, my, you know, defensive plays. Do PK? A little bit, not not. Was that something you'd like want related to? Something I'd love to do. Yeah, I don't know that fucking. Go on my PK. I block a bunch of shots, so I have to. I'd love to PK. But yeah, no PK. And then like getting more productive on the power of play too. Like that's, you know, you see so many guys, we have, they get to the 80, the 90, the 100 point. Yeah, that's where that comes from. Yeah, yeah, for sure. Is the power play points. That extra 20. Yeah, because you're at, you had 57 and then 50 this year. And like, so it's like getting to 70. Yeah, right? And like just 65, 70, 75, like that's where that growth comes. I think is the power play. And you know, maybe sneaking a couple more empty netters for myself. I don't know, but I don't think any of this year, I have zero my whole plan. It's a thing. If you look, a lot of guys, they probably get, I don't know, six to 10 points a year, empty net goals. You got to win a lot of games to get them. I ate the minuses, trying to tie it up. Oh, yeah. And never got any pluses or points. We did the math. I think I have 100 empty net. Yeah, we did. It is. Yeah. He's 100 empty net. Minuses are my career. We looked it up at one point. You got to look up. Actually, when you're, when we're done with this, look up, how many abs had their first year? Oh, when you get to when they score on the coach and these net again, you're like, no, no, but for you, like with like you're a defensive minded, like you play a 200-foot game. So now, like we talked to Berger on early and he was talking about just the little things in his game, not worrying about the point, just taking care of the minor details. But coming in as a young guy, being good in the defensive zone, now you can probably focus more on the offensive side. Yeah, you definitely get a little bit more of a rope, a little more leeway. You gain confidence, like the, you know, the mental side of the game is just as important. So that's that part of the game. You start to get more comfortable in the NHL. You stay, get to get more comfortable going against, you know, harder matchups and 23. Yeah, you get, you find ways to like produce in those, in those areas while also still trying to like shut guys down. So, yeah, no, it's been good. I mean, I really like, you know, really liked Lane and the staff this year. And, you know, I think they're very intelligent and do a really good job. And, you know, it'll be nice. Like you said, we've had different coaches every year. That can be good, but also can be tough because you're kind of trying to get the lay the land with your new coaches. So it'll be nice this year coming in. And we kind of already have a plan in place. And now it's like building instead of like restarting. For sure. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And like, it's not even like you can escape it where you're like, oh, we got like a, you know, a couple, couple easy ones coming up. Like the league, it's like, there's so much parity, especially being in the Pacific Division, like you might have McDavid and Drisidal one night and then going into fucking play against like Vegas where you have jazz. knack ankle pretty fucking hard. Yeah, no, it's tough. I mean, it's a lot of games. This year was crazy to be completely every other night with the break playing 17 games in a month was outrageous. And I know a lot of teams did it. I don't know if everyone did it, but I know that month was just like, so that's like two or three back to backs and other than that every other night, every other night. There's no two in between a game. Oh, like you're on the road. Like you said, like you're going to say, travel, travel is the worst. It had to be a night. You get on and warms and you know the legs are like, no, I got nothing. Oh, yeah, you get out of you get off the warmups. You go in there and you just put all of the icy hot up. Take about to shoot a bottle. That bulls and you're like, please, we got to get going by the way to get to the icy hot. That's all that's literally all it is. You're training for that test. So I think it's great. No testing. And I also like how we're doing just, we're kind of just getting right into it this year. I think it's, that's a beauty. They almost yeah, it's like we play, I think more than a hundred games, you play two, you can only play two games max. And so we're going to play two games. And then it's going to be like right into it. Might hurt way better. It will be way better. It might hurt the young guys like trying to make a team though. Yeah. Welcome. Unequivocally, the best movie I've ever seen in my life. I mean, it's three hours. I got a pretty quick intention span, boys, attention span. And I mean, at no point did I think about anything other than the movie and what was happening. And I think maybe it's because I don't want to give too much away, but it like, there's like different storylines, like little different stories throughout the whole thing, but unbelievable, so cool seeing Aves in it too. He's in there way more than you think. I know he doesn't have a ton of lines, but it was so sexy in him and there. Matt Damon, incredible. I thought Robert Pattinson, incredible villain. He was such a good fucking villain. But yeah, I mean, I just thought it was best movie I've ever seen and go into the movies alone. I can't suggest it enough. And you know, like sort of like issues he's gone through, like his body type and all that stuff. I could kind of relate to it. I definitely related to the guy a lot more than I thought, not necessarily musically. But it was a great documentary if you haven't seen it. Check it out also too. Do you remember that concert or cost the Concordia boat that ran around it Italy a few years ago? Like it just basically stuck on the rocks and was just like slowly tilted. I don't do my family trip for another couple of weeks, so I just been kind of, we count in the minutes to go up to Vermont for my like, semi annual trip. - He goes by himself, calls it a family trip on a cruise. - What do you, how many people are going on this family trip? - Me, my mother, my brother, though, we go up for the whole duration, then my niece or boyfriend come up, my a couple of my uncles are gonna come up. So, you know, like we used to only do it for a week, but we're doing two weeks this year 'cause last year, we were like, I could easily do another week here. So, this is where I saw you in Saratoga years before the show even began. - Yeah, we see that. Yeah, we shed the money on the way out. Yeah, I think that was the second time we met. Yeah, we take a good call, but we take a day trip over for my, where we stay in Vermont, and it's about an 80 minute trip. What's great about it? It's all the back roads, so you don't even have to get on any highways at all. It's just a beautiful scenic ride through all this sort of upstate New York, Finland, and yeah, we make a day trip there and maybe try to hit a few breweries this year 'cause we're staying for a little bit longer, but yeah, basically just waiting for that. Japanese and repeats now, so that was my one show. I pretty much watch every night is a repeat time. So yeah, just kind of call the minutes to get up to Vermont and enjoy a little vacay with the fam. - What do you guys do rent a house? - We had a house for years. It was about like a winterized house, but obviously we're in the summer, so it didn't matter, but it was a, the guy ended up selling it, so we get it like an old-fashioned cabin now, which is actually what you call rustic, which I actually like more than the house. It's just, you feel like you're in Vermont, it's like right on a lake, Keith, and it's not like overdeveloped at all. It's a lot of year-rounders, and a few people go up for the summer, so it's very quiet. We just sort of go up, and honestly, it's just the ultimate decompression. It's just like, there's not even a TV in the house, there's internet and stuff, but just kind of go up on wine, you know, eat, drink, or be merry-based. - Will you put the phone away? 'Cause if there's no TV, but you have internet in your phone, that isn't really, there's no like difference. Will you put the phone down? I try, I try, I try wit, I bring books up, and it's been a struggle, man. It's like, these amass, man. They're so god, they'm addicted. It's just, I try to chuck it, I've been trying to read even like recently, just try to focus on, just recalibrate my brain a little bit, just to like read books again, 'cause I used to be a voracious reader, so yeah, I bring a handful of books up, and hopefully just throw the phone, the lake for a little bit, see what happens. - Okay, and now who's, and you're on the grill here?
