The round, you were probably supposed to be playing with him. Did he reach out to you? So it was never. No. I've told you like a hundred times. No, he has not reached out to me. He's only spoken to you. He has not reached out to me. But I'm not going to say that I was supposed to play with him because, once again, this goes back to you in which you told me he can play Monday morning. And I was like, oh, but we had to record. We recorded that day. And then we were. We were leaving that night. And what do you know? At one of my favorite golf courses in the world, Boston Golf Club, he gets an ace. He gets a frigging ace. I was going to witness the ace. But I was not. Now, I had talked to the Boston Golf Pro who had said the day we were trying to golf. I think that was Friday when I went to the show. And we were. He's like, yeah, we can play here in the morning. But once again, I never heard from him. He's a busy man. Unfortunately, I saw you had to cancel a show. Now, my wife did have to mention, oh, you got a bronze and you got a silver now. You think you'll ever get a gold in anything? I'm like, kind of unnecessary. Although, it was a way for five nights. I was going to ask you guys this exact thing. So, as married guys who have children, when you get to go on that type of trip, is there a little bit more duty when you come home? Is it kind of like, is there a little, especially when your kids are a little younger, right? So, it's a lot more on your partner's lap in more difficult years. What is the feeling when you get home? Bro, I got home to the driveway in monster, like seven foot bubble letters. Welcome home, dad. Wow. Wow. Wow. Chalk, giant hugs, just love all over the household. Just love the entire time I was away. I just, I salute her and saluted her. I bowed down and I was like, now, granted, here's a side factor. Wyatt was in Nantucket all week with my mom. So, Wyatt, he's the heart and soul of this household, right? He makes things a lot better and at times he makes things a lot tougher. But overall, you know when he's not here. You just know more than anyone else. So, I think that probably created a little easiness, a little more easy. Of writing the welcome home wit. Of the welcome home dad. It was Wyatt. No swear words in there. And Keith's girls are older, so that's not really an issue. Yeah, I slept yesterday from, well, we had to go back. I flew to Boston with Witt and then I had to go to Baltimore because my girls were here in Baltimore for a lacrosse tournament. So, I met them in Baltimore and last night I slept from 9 to 11.30. Oh, wow. It was completely out cold. It was just such a grueling day of trip. And then I had to drive two and a half hours today. So, that was probably my punishment, driving the two and a half hours to Delaware. And then we got another tournament this weekend coming up and then tournaments are done for the summer, busy boy. Oh, thank God. God, you grind. The girls lacrosse, I mean, it's no different than the youth hockey madness. I know. You guys have had, what, 20 tournaments this season? But at least yours is during the winter. Yeah, well, no. Well, mine are, but plenty of kids Ryder's age are all summer too. It's crazy. And granted, you're outside during the tournaments. You're on some dump rink in July. But, yeah, shout out our trip. Shout out Dan Cleary and Sean Horkoff. They put this thing together. We had a blast. Incredible time. The way Keith started off the trip, I mean, he almost gave me a goddamn heart attack. Like, we left. We had a nice meal at the airport. Took an Ambien, right? Because you have to sleep on the way over. You have to sleep on the way over. Oh, those are nice. We were next to each other on the plane. He was asleep in seven seconds. Oh, yeah, like me in Detroit when you guys put me in the burrito in the hallway. Yeah, exactly. The minute the Ambien would hit my tongue, I'd be like. Done. And I was like, oh, I thought we'd talk for like 30 minutes before we try to go to sleep. He's done. So we land. And we land about 45 minutes before Commodore, Horkoff, Cleary, who else? Samsonov have landed. And we're all going to take the same bus to the hotel. So me and him are just sitting there, grab a coffee. I'm reading the paper. The paper is like, you know, they hadn't played yet. England hadn't lost to Argentina yet. The paper, the first 10 pages are just soccer. So I loved it. It was like you could tell the whole place is alive. So he went over to get a coffee and I'm just sitting there. And all of a sudden he's he's being escorted over to me with the fear of God in his eyes by a police officer with a machine gun. And he's like, dude, dude, dude. And the officer's like, this your friend? I'm like. Yeah, he's a take his bag. He's like, dude, he's saying he's going to. cavity surgery. I'm like, what did you? And I'm panicked. I'm like, what? all of a sudden this cop starts dying laughing he's holding his gun i'm surprised he just started shooting a couple rounds i gotcha i love i can't do an english accent i love you boys holy shit can't believe you're here i was like he was a chiclets guy he was a chiclets fan he he said he took the job at the airport because it gave him a longer commute so that he could listen to the show on his commute fuck out i swear to god i wrote luke luke luke i wrote luke cop cavity search in my trip notes so shout out luke buddy he's a great guy he actually told me so your first thought when he goes hey i'm a trickles guy you're like hey let's fuck with wit well i i went to the i went to use the bathroom and then he stopped me walking over it and i was like he's like oh can i grab a picture and i go oh wit's here too why don't we get a picture with him and as we're walking over i go you know what let's just throw a little prank at him i go pretend like you're gonna arrest me like have the gun go and say you're gonna cavity search me and everything and i had the look and he played it off like he was a professional yeah he oh he this guy played it off like they played me like a fiddle but he's acting skills like there was no i i didn't think you could have pulled that off without smart buddy he was like that you just went white and you yeah like one of those ones there yes it was like your acting ability to be honest and it was an actor and the best was what's his name was with us uh shanks was with us too so and he had he barely even knew us one of the guys who was a late ad to the trip um that was the hazy ad as opposed to hazy yes yes why is wit laughing so hard bro this i want to know all about him okay i want to know all about i want to know what he had for breakfast daryl scheller daryl great guy the fact he just called him shanks i had so he's shank scheller okay oh he was on a golf trip if you leave a golf trip and your nickname shanks you had the worst golf trip of your life yep okay so this guy no business what happened to this guy on the last day i i was crying i'm gonna start crying now great guy we meet him he's the first to arrive he comes up he's like hey with heath um i'm daryl i'm feeling you know i came i'm like awesome awesome dude very very very nice guy amazing and i and i believe i believe he's a three-handed no no there's no yeah three there's no unless it's justin williams i don't believe you i i believe he's a three-handicap i actually know he's a three-handicap because he's bertuzzi's buddy he's birth buddy and we had a great time now he he played the first day we played with him keith he was great he shot 77 like he was and once again great guy but as the trip went on and you know they're drinking and he's kind of playing a little worse and worse and worse so you get down to the final two rounds of the trip we're playing my mind you he's the oldest there too and he's drinking like a viking and yeah yeah okay so you guys are talking about how much you're golfing and the fact that yans before we hopped on he said that there's there's there was only one time you got to use carts yeah the last day the last day and and you had no legs hey and then uh and then the last day no caddies this we had oh yeah we'll get into it and and once again everyone we'll get into the news you know conor badar big contract steve eisman and the steve eisman story that comes back to the golf trip a little bit crazy enough so it does so we get to the last two the last two rounds the last two rounds sat uh friday's round is at this place saint george's hill i think it was my favorite course i loved it no that's royal saint george's that was a different one this place was sick now the golf guy we did the trip championship on the final two rounds so the lower money winners the lowest money winners because you always try to make it so everyone pretty much wins the same amount of money like that that figures out the draft order the night before the trip championship then you have a partner and then you're playing two rounds and it's just stroke play with with everyone's strokes and it's best score at the end of the two rounds win it so ray whitney um he had i think the second pick right or first first first and yeah and and based on like it's kind of it doesn't even matter you couldn't you couldn't pick certain people he could have taken mike commodore mike commodore is a hell of a play together in the bagger exactly their chemistry's unmatched and wizard hadn't played with shank scheller yet but he'd been told that shanks was like a really good player and you know once again and his name wasn't janks yes his name wasn't shanks yet either and once again he is a good golfer so and i hope i'm i hope i'm gonna be able to get to this story so the first round they shoot they shoot two under they're in a great spot that's unreal um uh who was three uh who was three under somebody's in the lead oh it was nyquist and mike commodore so nyquist is the best golfer on the trip he ends up with call me and they're three under after the first round but shanks and wizard are and he's not shanks yet they're two under they're right in the mix dude they're paired together the last day in the final group okay first hole shank second hole i think there was another shank the third hole he goes shank shank shank scheller he just lost it buddy listen this is i haven't got to the part that made me cry laughing his phone is connected to the speaker to play the music all right biz so he's pumping out the tunes and he's in control he's got the aux cord and all of a sudden the guys hear the music stop wizard hears the music stop wizard telling me this story i would go back in time no way no way he youtubed i how to fix the shit so all of a sudden no i'm over here you no i'm over here reading don't kill myself books the bluetooth's like you know an unreal song dripping are you hitting shanks on the course here's three tips to get you to hit the ball no oh my god and that's when you know and buddy this poor guy that was hole three there's a third hole that's a long round buddy that's a long round and wizard's so good that was like me googling how to skate when i was playing how to make a tape to tape it was me before the cup file googling how to throw a body check and the whole the boys hearing me youtube it but oh no man yeah great guy though great guy how was the how was the last 14 holes or 15 i think god awful i think he i think he ended up saying he hit like 11 total and i think he might have had four through three so there was still seven more out there right just and what's funny is on the range beforehand i want i drove the cart up and then i see him just striping him no no no no no no no this i pulled the card up i'm mixing my drink and i just look up and i see a hosel rocket going 100 miles an hour dead right i was like whoa daryl daryl little did i know that now when i see him i'll just be like yo shanks what's up bro but he kept being like i'm good at golf i'm like i know you are i played with you first round i saw you're very good at golf but i mean having so you think that's fully mental or you think that's booze and also like when you play fatigue it was fatigue it was fatigue i would have been toast that's a lot of golf man we got better no nyquist is always nasty i won't call me call me because he's a legit viking yeah call actually call me how much call me got really good call me got call me the last two rounds was incredible yeah he's just built for long lasting events i actually think wizard scored better every single round um when i was a kid i was like oh my god i'm gonna be a viking i'm gonna be a when we were walking the one day we were walking someone was like jesus christ calm he looks like a clydesdale it's because he's so big his hair was huge he's he's enormous and his hair when we went out the one night ernie else buddy his hair's down to here right now it looks phenomenal but it was like just out of the shower maybe some products slick and keith i want to say five hours later outside a pub you know i mentioned how excited i was to have drinks outside the pub and keith goes look at call me buddy his hair was fucking three feet out both sides just sorry joe bob yeah i think i think what somebody asked him is that your natural hair color uh but it was the one line on that trip man yeah yeah a lot of stuff um so i who are uh who were the other guys you guys mentioned some other guys last last time uh oh you because you you drew in eiserman hork off so that that news drops when he's on that trip yeah and and and clearly works for the red wings too and i was like guys we didn't go on this trip for i think six or seven years because they've just been so busy and then like you know hork's son was he was doing a ton with him and now will's 19 or 20 and it was just kind of the timing wasn't right and of course we go back on the trip and and the whole eiserman thing you know happens but that was more just like all of a sudden hork's on the phone the whole time and and if they stay within the organization for their next hire i'm pretty sure it'll be sean hork off like okay wow yeah and i think it would be the best decision the red wings can make personally you like um but obviously there's going to be all these interviews and but almost getting to that i do have to tell call me told a story that was incredible so call me his first year pro was playing um i believe he was in the mind yeah he was in the minors and he got called up and he was paired with scott stevens and they were playing the penguins and the first two periods he said it was the cleanest hockey i've ever played no chances against nothing going wrong we got the lead and all of a sudden in the third period mario lemieux decided to turn it on he goes the heat got turned up 66 had four points we lost and next game i'm sitting there getting dressed tying my skates and look down and it's an albany river rats jersey like i had the world by the i had the world by the balls for two periods where what so he was in jersey he was in jersey that's who yeah because lou yeah lou oh i played every round with todd bertuzzi biz i fucking love him he is oh i heard i had never raves about him he's the most like he he's the most like he's the most like he's the most like he's such a good guy like he's honestly one of the most loyal good guy i don't say whatever the fuck you want about him if you've ever met this guy he's unbelievably funny and he's got he's one of those memory guys he remembers everything crazy every single thing you mentioned one guy he had a story he told you how much he loved him had an unbelievable story about him he was just all time that's unreal you forget some of those guys like the wizard and and oh and those guys like they played they were in the 20 years early 90s you know what i mean so they had different stories than we've ever heard so it was a ball just to be around like in uh his his new gig as coach he loves it yeah yeah he said they're i think they were i think they were 61 and 6 that i'm right i think they won they won it all and he has this whole team back yeah they had like 17 rookies or something like that yeah so um uh one thing we didn't mention is uh the logo you sent the group chat before the tournament started so this was the full logo for everybody for both teams very funny and we'll throw it in i don't have the t-shirt on me right now i meant to wear mine but i sent it home who thought of that oh for sure cleary and hork but you know if you're listening on the audio it's it's a silhouette of me with the saber sword with the you know the worst chug of all time and the funny thing was when i opened the package with all the stuff we got i i i just looked quickly and i thought it was like somebody with the claret jug shout out that guy ryan fox oh my god what an incredible story and when that was for so i was gonna ask you you were there while well that started right because it just ended i believe yesterday and the dem um england advancing to the semifinals so a lot was going on no no england had already advanced when we went yeah we knew they were playing oh okay that they were in the semis so we got to watch a game we got to watch the game at a pub that pub was awesome i don't remember the name of it it was like half indoor half outdoor it was cool biz and were you guys doing the guinness pints uh yeah yes i was drinking guinness at that and um they went up one nothing and the place went bonkers incredible and then england like they just sat back they like it was bizarre there i was like i don't think this is the team you want to just sit back against and then messy magic and boom they lose to one the play you could hear a pin drop we immediately all left we were like all right because there wasn't much time left right when they when they went up one nothing uh no they went up one nothing with like 35 minutes left or 40 minutes and that's why yeah and then they subbed out two offensive players apparently for like midfielders and just sat back and then and then they subbed out this uh declan rice who plays for arsenal who's nasty and the guy next to me is like what the fuck why is he coming out and then like all of a sudden like bing bing bing it's like something you would never know and then this guy just boom you should have seen how fast irish merles you should have seen how fast wit sprinted out of this bar so we could beat the crowd walking normal pace for yeah true speaking of speaking of walking so the first place we played sunningdale which is incredible i i like i love this goal it was sick but we show up and you know oh where are the cat no we we had caddies right we had caddies we show up and i was like oh my god i'm gonna go to i was the third group and i'm sitting there with keith and i see cleary go to the first t and then i see him walking off the t towards the clubhouse i'm like where's he going on and on and he and he's walking back over with push carts i'm like what's he doing and i go out i'm like what are you doing barry's like there's no caddies i was like what he's like there's no caddies especially for a course you've never played before i'm assuming yeah so we went and bought the book where you can read like you could see what every hole is and where the bunker is and you know how far to hit it and stuff but it's like oh my god so we're finished the round and the next day we're playing royal saint george's which is incredible we knew we had caddies there but we were back sunningdale thursday was the only day of 36 holes because they have two courses and i'm like oh at least we have courses for thursday he's like we don't no caddies for the thursday for the 36 holes i wore my nobles because my feet would have hurt so bad not his noble golf shoes either his journey twos where he's like dude the journey twos how are the knees after though unreal but having a push card i think is worse than even like carrying a bag because you're pushing this thing up the hill i like doing it uh if i'm playing 18 but i'm playing like like i would be playing once a week max it's good for exercise you get your legs going everything like that but you guys are trying to go through this this this gauntlet of golf matches and then the first day it was you know you land you go there you play and you're like oh my god i'm gonna be like oh my god i'm gonna be like oh my god i'm gonna and like i got a beer but there's no cup holder in the push cart so i'm like oh this is kind of like so you finish finish the beer over there there's no cart girls or anything but i was like oh let's grab a water dude there wasn't a water there wasn't a water to be i don't know if there's water in that country so like guys are coming in just potato chips and lamb that's it funniest line hey funniest line of the trip we're on we're on like 17 first round we're playing with burt i go dude how dry is your mouth right now he goes he goes still having a cig he's just old school throwback eh yeah what other stuff though he's just like one liner after one liner after one liner yeah it was yeah and it's it's hard to just like i don't i don't know hard to describe yeah it's hard to describe just just like any any guy's trip i mean it's just like so funny there's just like so many times you laugh at great people so teddy purcell has lined up for us al michaels so teddy's close with al and his son do you know that al michaels has never eaten one vegetable in his life yeah and there's actually an interview that i because i didn't believe teddy he talks about it all the time yeah there's an interview where he's talking about it he's like i would never eat a vegetable and the guy interviewing him and i think it's like it looks like it's one of those like dead serious interviews that they do for like legends you know that one who does that guy who's that guy who does the serious interviews al michaels that's what i guess that's what i yeah but uh no so we're gonna get we're gonna get al michaels on samson off said he'll come on he's great sammy's got some crazy stories about the one who played in boston yeah now he works for dan milstein i think it's gold star agency he has like tons of russian uh clients okay i don't know russian clients so um but the other part of the the trip i have to talk about it does al michaels have a reason for not eating vegetables he says he goes look he goes look at him why would you look at look how gross they all look why would you i think from an yeah nutrition he must take what about a carrot he's like what about a carrot he's like you look at a carrot you think a carrot looks good and the guy's like yeah i guess you're right he's like i'm never eating one i mean i like the crunch i like i love carrots you love vegetables dude you love me and al michaels just having a fuck you match over he doesn't come on summer up he doesn't come on vegetables are unbelievable you know they broccoli look sexy come on he finds out how much you hate veggies so we don't even get him as a guest yeah but uh so one of the meals that we ate it was at the hotel so we ate at the hotel it was a michelin star restaurant okay lamb and potatoes i'm just gonna i'm just gonna put this out there they're they're fucking horrible they're they're horrible i've been to one and i said then i and and brie was with me she's like oh that was like brutal i'll never do that it's like a tasting it's horrible yeah it's horrible there there's like seven courses they're all the size of your your thumb and you're starving after and they're they gave us a piece of the first six dishes i'm like oh my god i'm like jesus i was giving mine away you and then i'll find them like i see on the menu one of them's a piece of lamb dude it looked like a kit kat my mouse is double the size of this piece of lamb yeah double what double it was it was half the size of my mouse see this mouse i'm holding up for my computer so it was three ounces no less no yeah it might have been an ounce and a half 2.2 maybe but it was delicious yeah the lamb was so anyone out there who's like i love it and by the way i was the only guy pretty much saying this these guys are like i love it it's so good that's why i always eat at the same restaurant i don't trust you i had keith i go get pizza he was at the dinner table ordering uber eats pizza that everyone wanted after everyone's telling me how good it is everyone's dying for a slice of pizza after but at one point they brought out and it's all like hero act it's all like looks crazy and agreed so they brought out bread and then they brought out like a it was what frozen butter no the coldest butter you've ever seen in your life no it can't spread like it looked like what would it look like keith what i thought it was it looked like you opened it up right like a smoke thing like an old-fashioned you know when you get like uh dumplings at like an asian restaurant oh yeah yeah they have that thing the top the top and you know there's a big handle there's a handle and i just i grabbed the handle take the top off dude the handle was butter it was the it was the butter my hand went through this butter buddy the butter was scorching hot mind fuck it's like it's like an escape room of meals i haven't had a bite of food give me the goddamn food we walked 16 miles without a water and i'm finally like oh a piece of bread like is it under here boom i got butter covering my fingers and i farted in there and it was so bad they like kicked me out basically hey witt's got the shut up have caddying for him on the thursday that you're fucking no take your seven courses and shove up your ass these guys hated us these guys at that course hated us so much witt found these kids he offered the money to come caddy for us the caddy master found out and was like not happening oh yeah i found a member i was like hey you want a caddy for me thursday i'll give you 500 pounds for two rounds and he's like yeah for sure and then and then guys were like oh he you can do two right i'm like hey that's a thousand pounds for you for all day with us i heard the kid call his mom he was like mom you can retire and then and then so there's an instagram video of him buying his mama house but he goes i'll get five other buddies because i'm like we need six caddies who can all do doubles yeah and then he called me the next day he's like caddy master said no i was like so was there just not enough throughout the course where you guys hadn't booked them in advance like how could you just not no you know what happened uh cleary ended up realizing that he was on an email exchange with a woman from the club and horkoff and he replied but it it was it wasn't a reply all and it only went to hork so they never even got our request the other yeah so it wasn't the course's fault the caddy master just you know he was like no there's just a big no but um yeah so it was it was it was a great trip dude it was oh that sounds so fucking i wish england had won if england had won it would have been even better but it was that was such a buzzkill when when i saw that and especially with you guys there like that plate that pub would have been the next like for the next two hours would have been the fucking coolest place in two weeks yeah yeah true you'd still be there yeah i would have come home and the welcome home signs like flapping in the wind at wits house brie sends a video watering it off of the driveway from the chalk i said no i'm back of being in england jersey i'm actually i send her a picture from new york i'm at the i'm at the final at met life in an english jersey with with larkin and zegras oh my god it was um it was but it was great it was great that was so good amazing people yeah get some new friends it was all shanks man we gotta get we gotta get him on the pod oh when bird comes on shanks will come on for sure shanks his nephew's in the nhl by the way who uh cole schwitz yeah i played with him or he was at training camp with us in florida he got traded he was part of the huberto trade for uh kachuk but now he's back in florida yeah and then his brother's in um where's their minor league team charlotte charlotte yeah yeah so he's got two nephews yeah so uh last can we talk world cup before we get to hockey i just wanted to mention how crazy um and i don't think you could think of a wilder scenario than a 19 or 20 year old leonel messi is how you say it leonel um lionel i believe lionel lionel So if they hire him, based on what you know about him, would his first action be, I'm flying to Dylan Larkin and I'm having a meeting with him and trying to repair the damage? I didn't ask him that. That's a good question. But maybe they had, because sometimes your relationship, what's Hork's, was Hork assistant GM? Currently, he's the assistant GM, and he's also running Grand Rapids. Like my relationship with Brad Tree Living, when he was the assistant compared to my relationship with Don Maloney, was a million times different. So maybe they already have that. Yeah, maybe they already have a great relationship where it's like, hey, listen, boom. Start over. Who should we get in? Who's the guy you want me to get? More input from a player. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. That could be the detriment to Stevie Wye is like, because he's of that status, maybe he wouldn't be as open to talking to the players and picking off of them. And guys are probably scared to talk to him, man. He's Stevie Wye. They're intimidated. You've got to be more in tune with guys now. Player coaches. You've got to be talking to them. And you're not their buddy. You're not their friend, right? But at the same time, you can have relationships where it's a lot friendlier than the old way was. Yeah. So do you guys see a time where I think most people would agree there was a time in NBA history where it finally got to more players speaking out, right? And I think that we can all agree that we like the fact that players have a say and have input and it's moving in that direction. Do you see it? Or ever getting to a point of a problem? Like, do you think, because I think we can all agree that from an NBA standpoint, it's maybe gone a little too far the other way. Do you feel like it's inevitable where the power dynamic will just continue to pendulum and it'll swing fully? Like, where do you, because hockey, I would say that most people who follow hockey, they love maybe that older school element about it. They like the fact that guys would show up wearing suits. They like the fact that it was more about the team than the individual. Like, I'm not saying it's in a negative place or it's a bad to any regard right now. I think it's, it's a, it's a benefit and it's good for the players to have this much say, but I'm asking, do you see it maybe snowballing out of hand or maybe there's examples where you think that it has already? I think there's definitely examples. And my only theory would be that it, as the money gets that much higher, right? Did that start happening as the money in the NBA? NBA got so ridiculous. And all of a sudden with that money, you just have so much more power. You have, you have so much more power. Like now, granted the teams are also there, they're making more money. But now, I mean, in the NBA, when did it start where guys were making 20 million a year? It was way, way before the NHL is even, we're not even there yet. I think a lot of it has to do with like the agents and stuff too. Like even back in our day, like if you called your agent, we're like, Hey, I think I should get traded. They'd be like, ah, no, just hang out. Now you got guys like Judd, you got guys like, they were almost obeying by the GM and not saying mine, but like they were obeying by what the GMs and the owners had to say. It was like maybe a little more cordial. Yeah. It was a pecking order of how it went. Nowadays, these GMs, like they work for the player. They're going out and they're getting them what they want. Guys not happy. The agents. Yeah. Sorry. They're, they're getting the guy out of the town. If he doesn't want to be there, they're going to a team, you know, if he wants to be traded to three separate to three different teams, Hey, you got to trade them to one of these three teams. So I think the agents and the players coming together have a lot to do with it. And I don't think it's a bad thing. I love that the players are getting what they, you know, deserve and what they, you know, work their asses off for. Yeah. I don't know. It is an argument though. If you're drafted, that is the, that is the whole discussion though. If you're drafted by the team, how many years do you have? If you're drafted by them, they trade you in two years. No, but if you're drafted by them, they trade you in two years. If you're drafted by a team and you give it, how many years is it then? Okay. To be like, trade me. I would say Larkin's had enough time there where it's like, I would say, I would say once Brady did it, it made it even more acceptable for, for Larkin to do it. Um, I believe that, but Brady was probably at that tipping point, like in a sense of fairness. Um, and he didn't, he didn't even really ask for a trade. Did he, who? Yeah. Brady? Oh yeah. Brady asked for a trade. I mean, and then you tell, you tell, you tell me. Then gave him a couple of teams. Yeah. I would have thought that that would have accelerated things a little bit sooner. And then like, just like other shit, other shit that's been going on. So I think that that is a, a, a, a pretty much a fair tipping point amount of time. Yeah. Um, but with that said in the power dynamic and everything changing and where we're at, and, uh, I think maybe we could talk about, uh, another special player signing a big, a big five-year deal. Probably like getting a little bit of comfort where he hasn't like had to commit this big long-term eight-year deal. He gets to see how they're able to handle things over the next five years. Cause I would still say there's like, if they miss playoffs the next two years, I think we would all be like, yeah. But in year three of that deal, I think that major expectations start to come as far as like, okay, here, what's going on? What kind of moves are they making? Like the Bo Byram thing makes a little bit more sense now and in rushing and getting him locked in for only the term that they got him locked in for. I believe that they align perfectly now, right? You got a six year deal. Uh, was it a six year deal? He got either. It's right. It's right around the same time, but I mean, right around the same time, the term he got locked in for is the highest paid D in the league. So it's right. Like it wasn't, it wasn't the Bedard signing for me. And you said it biz he'll dominate next year. You think he'll take the next leap? Cause he's going to get healthy and he's not going to have to, he's not going to rush back out of that shoulder. He's going to be a beast. I've been telling people, this is why you go to the movies, movies like this. The craftsmanship on display, what Nolan does is unbelievable. Like, no CGI, all practical effects. Just a stunning movie. Jar of gape the whole time. Can't wait to see it again myself. Congratulations, my friend. Thank you, sir. Did you see it in IMAX or 70? I saw it in IMAX. There's only one 70 million. IMAX in New England. It was down Providence. I couldn't get a ticket for that, but I saw it at IMAX just north of Boston. It was just stunning, man. I didn't read the book, so I was kind of going in blind. Matt Damon was incredible. Definitely going to get an Oscar nomination. I thought he was almost like, he was almost like reminding me of Good Will Hunting going through a midlife crisis because nobody did accents. They just kind of used their own. And he was kind of cynical, sarcastic, funny, kind of like a Cleveland Browns coach a couple times during the movie. But he's definitely getting nominated. I thought Anne Hathaway was terrific. John Leguizamo, awesome. He looked like Feech LaManna from The Sopranos with his getup. But just tremendous stuff. And Himesh Patel, who was in Tenet. You must know him. He was incredible, too. It was just, like I said, just a slobber knocker, jaw drop, awesome flick. Slobber knocker. That's an unbelievable breakdown. That should be hell of a pitch. If you listen to that and don't want to go see it, you're nuts. That is Siskel and Ebert. That was Siskel and Ebert-esque. Like, R.A., what would you compare it to? Geez. You know, I know the obvious thing is people are going to say is Gladiator, but I think that's too easy as a comparison because of the swords and sandals aspect. I don't know. It's such a unique movie. I guess a little bit of Castaway in there, I guess, at a certain point. Wilson? I don't know, man. Like yelling for Wilson Castaway? Oh, there's some yelling in there, too. Fish. Fish. The producer. The producer said it was like Avatar where, like, you go out, like, you need to see it in theater, that type of, that type of movie. Do I have to see this movie in IMAX or am I missing out? I wanted to go in IMAX. I've seen it in IMAX and 70 millimeter, and I got to be honest with you, I was able, but the 70 millimeter was the second time I've seen it. The first time I saw it, I didn't really, I didn't have the ability to retain any information. It was at the premiere. Um. The second time I watched it, I was like, oh my God, how did I miss that the first time? There's a lot of nooks and crannies. There's a lot of connecting the dots, not in a overly heady way, but like, IMAX, there's so much on the screen. When I condensed it and watched it in 70 millimeter, I could sort of dial it in a little bit more and, and it was, I don't know, I just, I retained the information, but again, I, I, the first, time was IMAX at the premiere and like it was overwhelming you know there was a lot going on so was it a little bit more fun being at the premiere in a sense of like the work is done and like everybody's enjoying the success of it compared to maybe how like dialed in and aggressive the shooting days were because like you've mentioned before being on set with them not a lot of bullshit going on you're there to fucking work yeah i mean i guess the thing was we were i mean when we shot iceland we were in winnebago's so like when we would finish work we would come back to camp and we would all be together again so we had a lot of fun we had a lot of fun the guys in this movie the crew of guys oh man these guys are some wild dudes i mean you really got some wild dudes on this movie i don't think you could make this movie without casting some wild dudes on this movie i don't think you could make this movie without casting some wild guys on this movie i don't think you could make this movie without casting some wild guys on this movie like just in the appearance and like how everybody meshed and and and yeah it was pretty wild it's you got to see it it's like this thing is so massive it's so are you referring to the fact that like the buy-in and commitment from the guys who might like for instance you like you were on screen a lot but uh like you i think you had maybe one talking role i heard about you like threw a pig or something but we won't we won't we won't give any spoilers out but just like when you're rowing the boats and stuff like that these are long hard days where you have to have like buy-in from all these like extras in a sense yeah i mean i i don't necessarily it's funny when you see the movie you realize there's not that many people in the movie that talk like matt carries this movie anne hathaway carries this movie tom holland carries the movie hamesh there's like 10 people in the movie right ra kind of when you when you boil it down yeah pat's it was great too he was oh yeah pattinson's incredible leg was almost but you know so you add it up there's like it's almost like there's 10 leads in this movie and everybody samantha morton um charlize theron's incredible in it like yeah you needed a bunch of guys that were seasoned actors so that they could step to the occasion when called upon but also live in a world and and and make a world look real when you're not driven by dialogue all the time like a lot of it was uh i mean i was lucky i got a lot of it amongst our group but but some guys didn't get any and they're still in the movie like viscerally they're in the movie and physically you feel them at times there's a last scene in in in our section whatever it's not a spoiler we all die except odysseus that we worked with matt lasky who's this giant he embraces me at the end because you know we're dying and like what he did without words was incredible it's so you'll see it once you see this movie and every bit and piece ties in together and it's like there's no fat on the bone on this thing it's really a rocket launcher it's it's yeah no it's wild like how grueling was like the physical work compared to say like maybe training camp or a playoff series because i mean you guys everybody was buff i mean david freezing how how many days were you there total filming it was like 70 days maybe on set but that was spread out over five months yeah there were a couple of times i mean i saw john bernthal they had to take bernthal out of the horse at a certain point because he was turning blue and you know he was shivering so much he couldn't get his lines out he couldn't even he couldn't even grab the hand of a guy beside him to try and ground himself just so he could say his lines like yes this was the most physically demanding movie than anyone has ever made i'll go on the record and say that aves you seem and i mean this uh with all due respect very humbled to be like a part of this like the way your demeanor is about this is kind of something we're not used to seeing when you're talking on camera is it more so like just because you've seen the movie now and came and all these guys that are in it like you seem very blessed to be in it i mean i might be staring down the barrel of a gun of like one of the greatest movies ever made you know it's awesome i don't know i mean it's tough for me to say i've seen it i've seen a reviews they're all the reviews are incredible so i haven't seen a bad review for this movie that's not that common nowadays right all right no no what did rotten tomato say it was unreal on rotten tomatoes yeah i was kidding i ate 98 the only idiots complaining it was just twitter like it was like just these fake made-up things like it's a 3 000 year old you know littered piece of literature about mythology and people are complaining about like who was cast it's not like they got like russell crowe to play mountain luther king or something it was like it's like take take a breath here it's like it's a movie just didn't enjoy it i think that was just a lot of online noise yeah and let's focus on the positives i mean you got to work with probably what will go down as the best director of all time if not like a top three like i'm not the most privy to like your guys mount rushmore of directors but but christopher nolan i mean fuck an imax taking that risk what was that like yeah i mean the imax cameras are i mean it was incredible at one point we were in the middle of the ocean i think we were in the mediterranean and you're on this boat it's a replica of a of a 3 000 year old viking ship this guy in sweden made a bunch of money and decided he wanted to build a viking ship so this is the most incredible ship you've ever seen like a a 3 000 year old ship that can manage the water better than modern day ships like they built things back then that were just they didn't have technology it was stay alive or die type of thing and that's really kind of what the movie is it's very interesting it's like stay alive or die and then tying in zeus's um zeus's rule and and and then the gods yeah this thing was a monster there were times where i was colder than i've ever been in my life and like really just thinking about whether i could get through the next half an hour and i would say i was one of the tougher guys on on this whole entire shoot yeah but then some incredibly beautiful moments like all right you saw that shot with the dolphins yeah that's really unintentional yeah zero cgi in the movie everything is is practical so it's shot through the camera maybe the whirlpool obviously chris and the fx team they enhanced it a little bit but to to get a real whirlpool they had like i don't know 10 or 12 boats just going around in a circle manipulating the ocean so that our boat that we were in got pulled towards it and it it so yeah there's it's all real there's finishing aspects that obviously color grading stuff but that the effects when sylla comes down and eats six guys off the boat those are like ratchets that that actually came down in a and it was a hand that grabbed a guy and pulled him 20 feet in the air like all that shit is real yeah the the horror elements i wasn't really expecting them and not the scene in the cave i'll just leave it at that like holy shit man edge of my seat it comes relatively early in the movie but i had no idea what i was in for then are we dropping a spoiler alert before this interview like are we are we getting buried right now all right it's a 3 000 year old story guys what about cersei ra oh oh yes i mean at the morning oh she was phenomenal we're not gonna spoil anything she was absolutely phenomenal in that in that scene man she was so so scary so creepy yeah she's awesome and everything but yeah that scene that was another another like horror element and when you just said stay alive or die that's what i almost said to the fucking boomer next to me in the show who kept pulling his fucking phone out like he pulled it out and i and i looked and like because everyone's a pussy like i'm joe tough guy but i was like i was like can you put that away please loud enough sweet he puts it away he took it out five seconds later fucking at least 10 times now i don't want to keep saying shit now i'm gonna ruin the experience for other people and i'm just like kind of glaring at him and the worst part is he puts it down and he doesn't even hit the button so you had to wait for the fucking diminution you should move on from the bike lane lanes to being the guy in the theater who checks for people who bring out their phones buddy honestly i had i had the same type of thing going on beside me and i was with my buddy budman uh shout out matt budman he said to me after the movie he goes man i gotta tell you you're you're ready you're ready to take the next step because if there was ever a person and a time to lose their shit it would have been you on those people beside us that came in late and then spilt their coke on me like i went through you know people haven't been in theaters a lot and i i'll give them some leeway like they forget the rules and the etiquette you know because we haven't been going regularly yeah fuck that they're just entitled yeah i think we should talk more about like uh my gear segment sponsored So Nash is going to get my residuals. So every time you put one of these movies up on the board, they just keep stacking. They're like these beautiful annuities that certainly. I'm talking about the blue chips. Chris's movies, of course, there's a handful of people, James Cameron, Villeneuve with Dune. These are real movies that pay out real money. So yeah, I mean, this thing's going to. I don't know who's going to take this thing out. I clawed it. I said, I knew when we were making it, I go, this thing's just going to blow people away. It's going to make a fucking shit ton of money. And it seems like that's the case so far. You said it was going to be the biggest movie of all time when you came on, I believe. Or maybe that was Merle. I don't know. No, I think I might have said that. I mean, it's. R.A., you know, like, the thing is just massive. Biz, it's going to be your favorite movie, I think. And you're a finicky movie guy. He's got one movie. Don't you think, R.A., he's going to walk out and go, that was, that's my type of movie. Well, that's why I kind of wanted to give you one. Or he'll be on his phone. No, no, no, not when I'm watching the movies like that. No way. I might leave mine in the car for that one. Interactions with the big stars, like, who would have blown you away as far as, like, humbleness and. It seemed to feel like it was one big family and everyone really got along. Yeah, I mean, no, I'll start with Damon. He got down to 167 from 200 pounds. The guy was, like, sharpened steel. First on set, last off set. Carried the entire production. Like, he's in every shot in the movie, pretty much, with the exception of probably maybe 10 or 15. This guy put one up on the board, like, championship season. Like, like. Give me the NHL comp. Stevie Wynne, 2002. Stanley Cup and gold medal on one leg type of thing. Yeah. Damon's, Damon's Boston, you know? He really is. Like, he embodies what we love about people from Boston, which is not afraid to get into the trenches, no bullshit, fucking get to work, let's get the job done, let's have some fun, too, and get after it, you know, and have some laughs. He's a jokester. I mean, he. Listen, he put up. He listened to my shit for five months, saying some wild stuff, getting in the kitchens of our other actors, he was sort of. He was kind of like. He just sort of hovered over everything. He only got mad at me once about one thing. I started a little bit of a. A couple of the guys, I pitted them against each other in an afternoon, said one guy took a lying from another guy. It was really important. Wait, you're an agitator in that. You're just stirring it up behind the scenes. I mean, we were best friends. There was, you know, a group of us, Odysseus' men, like, we're all, like, best friends now. Like, we will be for life, you know? So, yeah, and these guys are wild. It's not like it was a one-way street. I mean, we got some. We had some real good shit-talkers. Everything from Jimmy Gonzalez, a Mexican orphan, you know, to Anthony Molinari, who's the most Boston dude of all time and talks with a Boston accent in the movie. Like, it's incredible. These guys were animals. And Matt was our guy the whole time. So, yeah, yeah, no, we. They'll make a behind-the-scenes about this movie someday. You guys have never seen Hearts of Darkness, have you? About Apocalypse Now? Yeah. Yeah, I've seen it, yeah. What did he say when he got mad at you? Did he snap on you, or was it more lighthearted? No, he told me to fix it. He told me to fix it by the end of. Demanding. Because he didn't want any tension. He didn't want the room to be in bad shape. You mentioned being cold in the Trojan horse. Now, that's something that came up in the movie Troy as well. What, like, what do you mean? You were stuck inside this horse for so long shooting that, like, guys were freezing? Explain the whole day. Yeah, well, yeah, we started at 6 in the morning. The horse is on the beach. The tide comes in. The waves come in. The waves come inside the horse and fill the horse up with water. We're supposed to be hiding in the horse. We don't want the Trojans to know that we're inside the horse. So, Chris gets in the horse with the camera, and we film all day, and the water's freezing. And the water's freezing. And then it gets more freezing, and Morocco's. People think Morocco's hot. Morocco's freezing. Morocco's freezing. Morocco's freezing. Morocco at night, oh, my God, it's, like, the coldest place, one of the coldest places I've ever been. No snow. No, but it rains, and, like, it's just so cold there. The sand gets cold. So, yeah, we were in this water, and it's. We're drowning in the water. We're breathing through little tubes, little straws that we've made. So, we're under the water. We're soaking. We're soaking wet. Our clothes are wet. You can't really wear a wetsuit underneath your costume, because if you do, it's just so thin it doesn't even matter. There were times we were in a pit in Iceland where I just said, like, oh, fuck, man. I don't know. I don't know if I can do this. Did anyone quit? No, because you would have gotten ridden so hard. We had such ball busters. You would have never lived it down. Everyone would have known. We would have told everyone. Like a successful locker room. Yeah. People say that Charlize Theron could be difficult to work with. Did you see any of that? So, her and Matt worked together alone for five days, and that was during one of our breaks to come back home. You know, very rarely in a movie these days do they do that. Do they let you. We flew back to America three different times and had, like, two weeks off, because this thing was so. You know, you just couldn't do it. Yeah, you had to give us a break. You really did. So, Charlize and Matt were. They were in Morocco on their own for five days, but I heard she, you know. You'll see the movie. She's so good, Nick. She's like. It's like. Uma Thurman in Kill Bill, but, like. I don't know. She doesn't raise her voice once. She's so good. Calypso. She's playing. She's playing the ultimate goddess. She's playing number one? She is. She's playing, like, you know. She seduces Odysseus for seven years. Yeah, I could see that happen. What about Johnny Bernthal? She'd take his dog. Well, don't spoil that one. I won't. I won't. I won't spoil that one. Oh, she takes more. Bernthal's the best. And the Trojan horse. Bernthal's the best. Bernthal is the best. I mean, the memes, the let me tell you something. This guy's got one year. And, by the way, incredible actor. I saw him and Chris. There's a great story. We're raiding Troy. We're coming up the steps. And my whole thing was like, I don't chase the camera in this movie, okay? There's a couple of guys that chase the camera. Oh, yeah, right. You weren't a fucking camera chaser. You fuck. With those teeth? Those are made for IMAX. By the way, I'm not allowed to smile in any Nolan movie. And my teeth are getting more. They're finally getting fucked up. And, like, one of my teeth is getting fucked up. And one's bigger, dropped down the other. So they're starting to get a little. But Bernthal followed me on a take. And my whole thing was like, I was always on the back. I would come up on the end. Partly because I was, you know, buffering the civilians and the background extras and the stunt guys. And, like, that was my own war that I was fighting back there. So John decides to follow me one take. And Chris, at the end of the take, is like, John you can't follow Sean okay he's always hiding from the camera if you want to be in the movie I need you here I need you in this area which was incredible because then John's like that was sort of a challenge to Bernthal and then he's got to figure out what am I going to do long story short I watch Chris walk over and take a trunk pull a trunk out of a burning fire and what you'll see in the movie is a lot of fire but the fire is all it's all piped fire so they can turn the fire off and turn the fire on he goes into the fire he takes this trunk out he walks it over and he puts it down on the ground and he says sit on the trunk that was one of the most incredible things I've ever seen it was like Scotty Bowman and Steve Eisenman having a little bit of a like a spirited discussion about the half ball and coming to an agreement Bernthal's and Bernthal's the best I love John I loved working with him I'll work with him again he's the ultimate guy I mean he's so fun another wild man looks like right yeah a little bit I had I had one more question about the IMAX uh so they say that the longest you can go with uh like one IMAX really is the longest you can go with uh like a one IMAX really is the longest you can go with one IMAX really is the longest you can go with uh like a one IMAX really is the longest you can go is about close to three minutes so you could never have like dialogue longer than that or you'd have to kind of like intertwine it they also say when you're filming in it it radiates this like noise that might be a little bit annoying so how was it for people to like do their lines while this noise was going while you're filming it did you get to see much of that uh well I did on Oppenheimer but then on on the Odyssey they built a blimp so it goes over the camera and it it encapsulates all the sounds so when the camera's running you don't really hear it anymore um how much was this movie to make it doesn't matter they made it all back already well I think good answer I think they said 250 to make and then 125 to promote for a total of 375 quick math not a big deal um which that's got to put it up there as one of the highest to make a movie of all time like what's what's the lead Titanic maybe every person that I've talked to that has seen it has said they've seen it twice that's the craziest thing and I guess you can't get a ticket like I mean certainly in New York or LA that's what I said about IMAX well you don't need one you can just listen on this episode you can't uh how many of the spoilers did we give up of a two hour and 40 movie since we've been talking I've tried to already forget certain details but I said I don't want to bring them up again you guys are one felt like a horror movie at times definitely Jurassic World Dominion Dominion 2022 658 million to produce that doesn't seem like I made it made its money back I never even heard of it still make Damon's got to take the lead on this whole thing just watching this guy like we're on the beach in Iceland everyone was tired we didn't have a lot of time whatever I watched him do three takes where he just turned the dial and he was like I don't know what's going on and he was like I don't know what's going on and I don't know what's going on and I don't know what's going on and I don't know what's going on and I don't know what's going on on each take a little bit and what the output was it was like oh my god it was like watching like Connor McDavid like tweak an angle based on speed and timing the way that he does it where you're just you're you're totally amazed and it was a little tweak you know it was making that cut a second earlier because he knew that you weren't going to be there like there was there was so many moments like that watching Damon but that guy is a master of the craft he really is he really is he's a he's a fucking incredible dude an incredible actor on the highest level guy that guy goes toe-to-toe with pretty much everyone everyone talks about the bales and and you know DiCaprio when is Damon ever like he's so good always this one is his tour de force that we actually almost sunk because my friends are a bunch of fatties but uh we go to this place called the two-foot cove it's just like this big like cove where like 300 400 boats just tie up with this two-foot sandbar everyone just gets absolutely buckled and we're walking through this like two-foot sandbar and who do we see just buckled with like a 1942 bottle playing volleyball at two-foot cove after seeing him out till 5 a.m the night before was diego pavia so it was pretty cool it was pretty sick but uh two cold two-foot cove in nashville pretty sick old hickory lake and uh it was also sick too i can't suggest this enough if you got a buddy who's a good cook i have a buddy who went to culinary school automatic invite for a bachelor party he's cheffing the boys up food all weekend it was unbelievable made his own salsa avocado crema dip it like it was it was incredible i'm just uh you tell him pre-trip hey you're getting the invite partially because you have there's expectation to make some dips and salsa i think he's got a bill i think he's got a note oh no we didn't charge him for anything because he just paid for all the food all weekend he was just cheffing everything up so i think when you're that guy you kind of know and he wanted to do it he was itching to cook for the boys and that's awesome yeah just one of those things where you know on the flight home you're uh i was very grateful like very very thankful to spend some time with my friends and my family got to put did a foursome with uh got to play with my bro i got to play a foursome with my four brothers which we've actually never done before oh that's cool yeah it was really cool and just a lot of fun man it's just so crazy boys like i get married in 54 days i started this show like when we started this show i was 23 years old a kid and i was like oh my god i'm gonna be a dad just young dumb full of cum and you know now i'm getting married in 54 years old it's crazy exactly it's great you have any one buddy who's acting crazier than anyone else yeah anybody have to get sent home yeah so anyone get arrested the grinnell family i'll say the grinnell family put on a show uh younger brother got slapped one night at the bar oh nice next night next night uh young other younger brother had to be removed from the bar oh geez yeah so all in all though great performance from all the boys i actually thought it would be a little worse big brawl one night at one of the bars we were at surprisingly my friends were not involved in it good that was great to see don't recommend draft i looked up his playoff stats he had uh 14 stats in the player seven and eight with a 2.28 goals against and a 920 save percentage two shutouts like numbers kind of jumped out at me so congrats to jack on a nice career and i enjoy retirement uh also i play with him awesome guy you know battled some difficult times guys um him and dusty emu formed an awesome relationship when we were in ontario and he clawed his way back to the nhl i think he played a little bit at the time for him and he played a little bit at the time for dallas uh came over from there and uh and yeah i think uh what he went and played a little bit for the kings and then he went over to toronto and then signed that massive deal uh with edmonton so um got everything he deserved great teammate and really it was really cool seeing a guy firsthand like just kind of reinvent his game and get back to where he should be based on um expectations so great teammate and love you jacko and congrats on a great rip and he's doing did you quickly mention that he's i think he's going to be helping out like from a mental coach perspective like that's the transition he's going to be making i i had mentioned that but i'm glad you did i think he released a video today partly mentioning that where i think one of the people who helped him um you know just reframe and reshape his his way of thinking um and that helped obviously also with dusty emu and i'm sure other people who had a hand in getting him back to where he he felt confident and able to perform at a very high level i think now he's going to help guide and aid people in his his second career uh which is cool to see right like uh you know nate nate was very vocal about that and and working with a sports psychologist so sometimes it's as little as you could you could be you know all the tools no toolbox as they say and and you know meeting one person could completely reach reshape your your way of thinking and lead to success so especially in that position is he doing that on his own biz um he so dusty emu worked as a as if though the guy he tagged was like an independent source like a buddy that he'd either met or came in contact with uh and and uh and he kind of like looked externally where you know we talk about the goalie coaches and how much more they've been reintroduced now every team has one where that wasn't the case probably 15 20 years ago maybe even when you guys uh started your nhl yeah when you first got to phoenix was a grant fear there yeah fears he was there yeah so maybe at that time it was pretty it was still pretty new yeah but that just could have been wayne wanting to bring in you know fears yeah yeah i don't know if everyone did yeah so that's something every team used to have but it seems like every team has a goalie coach oh yeah yeah our goalie coaches still like because i remember back in the day i guess they would not always be there they'd come in and out was that the case they're there every day now honor of chris dolan if you haven't seen memento it's on netflix one of his earlier movies awesome flick you got to really pay attention to it jumps around quite a bit but if you've never seen memento check it out i like it the most confusing movie of all time though yeah it's black and white and it goes like a like a time lapse right of like moving forward it's black and white i think i there are
