Yeah, no, for dinner the other night, I'm going on the bathroom and there's this guy with his wife and two kids and he gives me the. It caught me off guard was like, what's this guy doing to me? Oh, yeah, yeah. Hey, buddy. So I got my first one on the road where I was a little bit startled and it felt great. So shadow pinkies up and I've been having a ball and jacks the whole way, I'll tell you. I didn't want to admit this part because it was funny. It's very funny, but it got to me a little bit. But I was walking today, Keith, after camp. So we're at the Yandall hockey camp. We can then tuck it. It's awesome. I went for a long walk after like five miles. I was at the weight. I wear the weight vest. It's really pathetic. Look. Get out of here. Yeah. Yeah, but he's a stay-at-home mom. Middle-aged mom. I'm a middle-aged mom. But a family, I'm assuming it was the sun, he looked like a 16, 18 right around there. He went first, then the wife went, then the dad went and he turned around as he went by me. He's like, what's up? What the fuck? And I was like, nothing. What's up, bro? I actually gave him the pinkies up and he and then like as they're like continuing to go. His son was like, who's that? And he's like, oh, it's Ryan. When he's like, he's a squid. No. He goes, he goes, that guy's a squid. That's what I heard. I wanted to fucking run after him, but I had a weight vest on. It's funny you say that like two days ago, I was at the same place going for like a dip in the creek. I was eating at Norris and I went to grab a dip in the creek and somebody hogged the horn, but it was the guy in the passenger seat and he leaned over and gave me the finger and like, he knew who he was and more were you in the middle of the road like texting. No, no, no. I wasn't in the middle of the road. I was like off by where Norris was walking to where the creek is like on that side of the road. Random middle finger. Just a random. Yeah. Did you give him the pinkies up back at least? No, I gave it the squint like it is out my like kind of like the, "Hey, oh, that guy's giving me the finger." Oh, that's a tough one. So, I don't have many enemies here yet. I mean, maybe it's because I'm taking all the seats up in Norris or the, or that guy's like, I've listened to his show. He has 19 favorite teams. Fuck him. He gives you a big middle finger, but a announcement voice before we really kicked this thing off is, "Chicklet's cop is coming back to Boston, maybe October 8th to 10th at the same spot, the Harpoon Brewery for anyone who attended last year. I mean, obviously, you know, we had the incredible matchup of the stranglers versus the big deal selects in which neither team won. You know, the stranglers lost the big deal selects, but big deal selects lose again. And they're going to lose again this year. It's just is what it is. But we got to rematch within those two teams. We're even getting out of red cards, which apparently is impossible, but that was an amazing storyline. Okay. We have to go over that now. We have to talk about it. I think we got to save it. They do love the summer episodes, but before we get to the hockey, I want to ask you guys about your fourth of July, when I saw a few pictures that you posted on your, your interest story. And I never post you never do anybody the first one on my grid when I'm going to send this picture to G. So he can include. I think it's the great. He said it was his favorite. He said it was his favorite fourth of July all time. You know, he was posting a lot. How did you get on a float? So no. So my brother-in-law's buddy, his cousin lives in Nantucket. He runs the rank. He's a great guy. Brian. And he had said last year. So it's kind of funny. So they have downtown on Main Street in Nantucket, fourth of July. They've forever had this huge water fight where the fire engines come down. Everyone's bringing, you know, machine gun water guns and you're just, it's a war down there. And so last year they actually is a drought. So they canceled it, which was a big bummer. And then of course, there's a drought this year. So word was that it was getting canceled again. I was actually getting on the. the boat. When they called it in, you know, you give them that water. So this guy, Tom Green, that me and Keith, no, Bubbles, Bubbles. Is it uncle or something like that? Bubbles, Bubbles, uncle, yeah. Great guy. He runs the car ferry, the steamship. This guy's a legend. And I said to him, like, yeah, usually July 4th, they have this water fight. It's just so, it's like you're in 1950s, America. It's just the cobblestone, just the whole vibe down there. And, but they're canceling it. And again, I was hurt because there's a drought. The guys say, it's a fucking island. Oh, I know, buddy. I believe me. I got no idea why they can't get water. Where are there salt water this year? So I would be fine with that. Somebody, somebody donated. I don't even know how much water, but they donated enough water where it was the, the guy said it was, he thought it was the longest water fight that had ever gone downtown. So this guy, Brian, had said, hey, your kids and riders, cousins are here. They can ride on top of the 1926 fire engine. Like I'm talking, it's 100 years old. So that's the third fire engine to come. You know, the other two of the actual hose is this thing you were putting out fires in 1926 with basically something less powerful than those squirt guns the kids are using now, but they got to ride in on the top. So they pulled down Main Street and all of a sudden that this water fight begins. Now at one point, I said, I got to get up on that on the top of that fire engine. So I got up. And as I got up, Brian brings me over a legit fire hose that's ripping water. Buddy, I was picking people off that went downtown with no plans to get wet. Women with Louis bags. I was burying, burying. These things with the broken bag gets you 5,000. Yeah. Yeah. You know, near Tucker, ladies, you get an extra 500 liters of water. If you get the burger, she's like, I'm like, let me, yeah, let me pour the water out of your burger and bag before you go get a margarita for breakfast on the 4th of July. You see Fudge Kid round the corner. You're licking your chop. Oh, I would have asked it. I would have asked it for him. I would have I would have. Fudge kid is the kid who called him a squid. He's grown up now. Oh, really? Yeah. We were talking about this the other day. I think he's probably like 18 now. But uh, so, so we start off with that. It was just amazing, right? You know, you go down there and it was just an awesome time. So this picture, I'll show you guys now, but she can put it in. I mean, buddy, look at how happy I am and look at Ryder over my, what would be my right shoulder? You're left. I mean, it's like you won the cup. Look at Ryder. I literally thought it was that. It looks like you won the cup. I thought you were at the Panthers Cup Parade outside of Elbow Room. No, I'll be in Edmonton's Cup Parade next year. We could talk about them in a minute. What a wagon. Stan Bowman is cooking cooking. So, these are red card. So then we went back. We went to the pool. Then we went over to Keith and I buddy, Zach. He owns this great restaurant here. Seagrill. And he had, he had this, this cookout, buddy, he had this restaurant. Obviously, the chef is his brother-in-law. He's doing all the cooking. They had kegs of beers. They had kegs of margaritas. They had a volleyball court. So we did that. That was an awesome three hours. And then we went down to the beach, set up a giant bonfire. There's the dunes. Kids are running up the dunes. Then you watch the fireworks from the harbor. I mean, 10 o'clock, I sat there. I said, that was the best day of my life. It was honestly one of the most memorable fun Fourth of July. So it was awesome. It was great. I want to hear yours. Yeah. So I'm walking downtown to go watch the parade. My kids aren't here. They're a camp. But I was like, I want to go see wits kids, whatever. See all the kids. And we were just going to hit up a couple bars. I'm walking down there. I just hear, hey, Kiki. They all got guns pointed at me just lighting me up. I didn't plan on getting wet. I'm part of the screw that just went down there not to get soaked. Why it squand, the squanto and rider and lighting me up off the side of the truck. I'm like, boy, boy. It was unbelievable. Oh, yeah, it was so much fun. It was just, yeah, it was, it was. Did you go to that same cookout afterward? No, we ended up getting lost in the sauce downtown and just kind of hung out there, had a couple meals and then came back, watched the fireworks from the porch and then just kind of shut down early night and bed by 10 30. Oh, God, I love, I love going all day and then being in bed at a decent hour. That's the main thing. Yeah, I do, too, but I have a brother in law moves who like, you know, you have this amazing day where you've been drinking legit 11 hours and then you get home and he hands me like quadruple XL Tito soda with pink Whitney mixed in on my buddy. We're going Tito's and pink Whitney when I gave him a pinkie's up. I got to have this with you. So next thing, you know, it's 130 and then the alarm's going off and I'm like, all right, but you know what? Sometimes you got to pay the piper in the morning for a day, like the one we had. I mean, honestly, too, I got this picture of Cowboys, like, I'll tell you right now, this is getting framed from my office. I mean, look at this kid. Look at him with the steps up to the beach. Oh, man, America. Just a kid. He looks like just a kid. Hold on. It's black. It's crazy. He actually is. I never told you, Brianna. We got this six server. We built one of those farms that AIs right. Elon gave it to you. That's what took the basement so long. We drew him up. No, it was going to be early, but the basement flooded. Well, first of all, bad news on that front is Gavin and his team are out on the fishing lure. No, no, there will be no right hook. Yeah. No, fortunate. I actually saw. I put some papers on, put the X on that. I think it probably came from the Leafs. That's sort of, that's my guess. If you had quit the Leafs, you might have right hook in like fuck. So little little disappointed, but you know, I went down to the South Fork in Idaho and I caught like, I mean, look at this, fucking fish. I caught boys like look at that thing. Oh, you can't show your hammer on this. Biz is, I thought you were legit about to show me a 44 inch or that. Hey, and he's holding it out. That's how you hold it out to make it look bigger. So that's way smaller than it is. Hey, that's the real pink. He's up. It's just that fish. Oh, hey, so it's the biggest one you realed in, but I caught like three or four. But the funniest thing about it is like, there's been like record breaking catches because right now like it was a there wasn't a lot of precipitation snow this winter. So a lot of it is melted off. So a lot of the fish work and the big ones were caught earlier in June. Normally, like July is the big month. June was the big month. So no excuses play like a champion. I had, but saying that there's sometimes when you're doing it, you'll the bigger ones are obviously smarter. And that was one of the things that he said today. They didn't get big by being dumb. So they know when it's like a fake lure. So they'll go up to it and look at it. And before they bite it, if they know that it's shady, they'll fuck off. So like two or three times there were some like nice big ones. And I was like, Oh, fuck out. Obviously, I'm not going to catch it because I'm stupid. We all would have caught before we could walk. We would have been, oh my god. Oh my god. Whitney kid again. Yeah, I would have been in a diaper like a fish that fucking biz just caught. Yeah, no, that one's tough. That one was tough boys. I thought you guys would have fun with that one. But that is so good. Yeah, shut out to it there. And he's actually, he works at that South Fork lodge. And that's the one that that Jimmy Kimmel owns. That's basically where you end, you end that. But they built like a $2 million like place where you go in. You can get all the toys that anybody can go in the area to buy from. And then the lodge that they have there specifically for specifically for the people who are staying in like the hotel slash the a frames. And Kimmel's got one there that's like just for him and stuff like that, but like that whole part on the I know side where you fish and like you get in the water and these little boats that they buzz you around in, it is like, it's stunning. I have a video right now. The last thing I'll show you about it. There was like bald eagles like swooping in within their nest and stuff. Just chilling as you're going by. That's a bald eagle, huh? That's a bald eagle. Just chilling and then above it. I wanted to see that thing get full wingspan go flying away. That would have been sick. Is that kind of fun with that appetizer biz? There's that one on the lower tier. And then on the upper tier, there's the other one. But that one doesn't have like the white head yet. And so that one is better just the hawk or something? The only other cool thing I saw was I was golfing three creek the other day and there was a box or maybe that was a coyote that went buzzing by a while we were on the golf course. So that was pretty cool too. So you get to see a lot of wildlife here. As you're just looking at you, that's the two tons right there. How far could you hit the ball up there? He's like two and 20. But as far as that mineral, I don't want 90. Yeah, it's like I pounded that one. It's in the fescue short of the fairway beginning. But no, it's a blast here, man. Yeah, get that one close. We golfed with Brendan Lemieux, who's over here for the month of June. July, yeah. It was good to see him and he was telling us, you know, some stories about his dad, I guess the services they had afterwards grade. He said, bro, Derrick was there, Sackick, Wayne Gretzky, Darren McCarty had showed up. And it was good to play with him. He hits the golf ball. Buddy, it's actually crazy. Like he fucking murders the ball. And it was funny story told about the guy who won the US Open after he played with him. Yeah, he said that, who was that? Was it that with the beard? It was the players, it was, so he was at it. Whatever course he was at. Where did he say it was a Panther National? I think so. Claude was there and Cameron Young was there. And he was hitting bunker shots, bunker shots, bunker shots. And like Claude went over and he's like, dude, my dad's, he would say shit that I would be like cringing 'cause he went over to be the give him a tip. I said it would be like, like a guy walking off a men's league, a nice shift like grabbing like McDavid and being like, hey, coming out of the corner, you got to try to like, you gotta move your feet a little bit better. Is it giving a tip to a top five golfer in the world? But but I guess Cameron Young was just talking to him and they were legit talking about bunker shots and how to hit him. And then he won the players the next week. And he said they were sitting there and his dad's like, obviously he got up and down out of the bunker every time we went in one. And he's like, I, 'cause I told him that tip. And he's like, yeah, dad, that's unbelievable. - So good. - So that cracked us up. But no, other than that, I was kind of just, like Keith said, very relaxing over here. But man, when that news broke, how a big, bad Danny Briere rocking the NHL to its core with a five year offer sheet to Leo Carlson, which was then signed for $18 million a year. I texted the group boys and I'm not exaggerating. I think it changed the league forever. Is that, is that maybe a little like aggressive comment? I don't know, because look at now what's gonna happen. Imagine, you know who the first person I thought about was like celibreening and like, but already even and all these guys coming up and there's so many things we gotta talk about with this discussion. But the main takeaway for me and this is not just me saying and everyone's kind of rumbling around the news that Verbeek completely fucked this thing. This guy, I mean, what a player he was, he had built Anheim into what a team where I was like, holy shit, you watch him in the playoffs this year. Like, we could be watching a complete dynasty being formed here and the whole organization's completely hose now. Whether he does, whether they don't match, whether they do match, they have to sign Gauthier, they're gonna have to sign Seneca, but bism gonna throw it to you for just initial reactions about everything. - Ah, like going back to Verbeek, if he actually tried a low ballam and didn't get, tried to get anything done before the offer sheet, like we don't throw the R word on this podcast, but that's retarded. But you look at the two guys who are the main culprits of that, you look at Zegress and you look at McTavish. Okay, you know what? Given that maybe the year that Zegress had before he was offered that contract, you know, okay, I get it. I get it. Same thing with McTavish. There's a little bit left or left to be desired. These guys are not Leo Carlson. There's 15 teams in the league where Leo Carlson would probably step in next year and may probably be their best center, right? - Oh, they may belong. - And in a few years, he will be. And right now, I think it's safe to say, if you're looking at trajectory outside of Celebrini, he's the best young centerman available. Outside of Celebrini. I put him ahead of the dark. If Chicago Black Hawks fans want to argue with me, whatever, you can argue with yourself. - If they're arguing that, they've never watched them play. - The fact that they went back and tried to work out a team friendly deal, which is clearly team friendly. It's a $3 million discount. And he was probably gonna offer them three more years in term. It was probably an eight times that I was thinking. - I know. - Eight times 15. So now all of a sudden, you've put yourself in this situation where you gotta pay him $3 million. And you're gonna have him for three last years. - And it ends when he's UFA, which is the dirtiest, most sickest part about this. - I love this league, dude. 'Cause it's the fucking best. - It's the best. And this kid obviously hit this period of time at the perfect time, right? Like we know the cap's going to, I think it's projected right now, not next year, maybe not the year after, but the year after that $126 million. It might even be, I think it's $28.29 is the year that it gets to that. So for a team like Philadelphia and many other teams who maybe aren't exactly in win mode right now, they're like, let's just solidify having our main center. Let's, in retrospect to maybe next season, the season after overpay him. But by three years down the road, when the cap is $126, they got their first line center. They have all these young stud wingers lined up. And it makes perfect sense for them. I could see him see him be in an un, like, like if he's a third line center, making four and a half, five million bucks, and he's getting regular ice time and he can get you 22 to 25 goals. I think that's an unbelievable job. Like he, I don't think he, I think through the process of like getting sent down and having to play a little bit in the minors and developing and kind of slowly coming up now. And also when you're fifth overall, sometimes you can't really fly under the radar. There's like a lot of pressure for you to develop. I don't think it's necessarily like been there and he hasn't really been in the spotlight, especially being in Phoenix and then now Utah. They might be rolling their eyes, saying to their agent, give me the fuck out of here. I don't know, but a, I respect the sharks for making that move and solidifying those two positions. In this case, with them having that much money and then having Celebrini and Smith and a few of those other younger guys cheap at least for next year, those deals will be over before you know it. Yeah. And who the fuck else were they going to get? No. And they just crushed it at the draft. They had a great draft. So it's one of those things where if you can bring those guys in, have them around the the biggest thing that when the leagues getting young longer is having those older guys around who are still serviceable can still play you good minutes. Like Jacob Trueb is a warrior on the extra. I would, I actually wouldn't have cared about the number. If it was a three year deal, it's that fourth year. It's like, but I think to get him to go there, that was probably, I bet you a lot of teams were off for them three years or two years. And then he gets the fourth year. Yeah, it's for, for Earhoff, our boy who just got drafted there, the earlobe off, no, they're off, but let's say they're off is able to go there this year and step in. And he's a seventh demon. He's in the lineup. You need Trueba and you need Darnell nurse teaching him off ice habits. And let's say he pans out where he's snapping around. He's in the lineup every night. All of a sudden, let's say he's lined up with Darnell and or Trueba. That's a deep pairing that's making fucking an average of four and a half to five million per guy. And it's also you have a young demon that the both of those guys will fight for him. They'll let him have his ice. They'll get him the puck. Let him do his thing. You need to have these guys around guys like that. And I get it. The money might seem crazy right now. But like to bring an elite, he was the captain of the New York Rangers. He knows what he's doing in a locker room. He knows how to handle all types of situations. So yeah, I mean, it's not our money at the end of the day who gives a fuck in a, I'm happy for him. But I saw that that, that what's his name, the, the, the, the Swedish guy that's doing the Fox broadcast, he said, I can't believe that it didn't get reversed sooner. So if you got an all time soccer legend saying it was a complete joke and it shouldn't even been taken away earlier, then I'm kind of like, well, it was, it was the wrong call. It was kind of like if a guy got kicked out of a game in the NHL, you know, and then everyone's asking about the suspension and then they're like, Oh, and there's no suspension. He shouldn't even been kicked out of the game. Like, I don't know. That wasn't. Wait, I heard it wasn't Trump that it was Judd that called no, shit, no, shit. Obviously. Yeah. It was controversial. It did seem like, you know, like I read it, read up on article 27 of FIFA's disciplinary code, the judicial body may decide to fully or possibly suspend the implementation of a disciplinary measure. But then later in the, the bylaws, it's like suspensions can't be appealed in the world cup. So there's sort of like there was sort of contradictory things there and then, you know, until I know FIFA, uh, peace prize when a Donald Trump called up the FIFA president there. And, you know, obviously they changed the ruling and I think, yeah, penalties usually aren't resented. Like unless it's in the game like we just talked about, if a guy gets called for a high stick and they look at the replay and they, they, they fixed, they fixed it right then. But it just seemed like, I don't know if it's fuel belgeable. I think they have way more talent than they might have won the game anyways. But it definitely seemed to, I don't know, they, it was like a, maybe they felt it was rigged against them or something because these things typically don't get lifted. I guess we're not all though had a three game suspension that they, they, they resented that somehow. But I think it was the fact that it was a phone call that was made and then it happened and instead of just. Well, in that guy. Well, they, they show them at every game. So after all said and done, it seems like a lot of these teams that were already going to be in the next going to be the finals. So Keith and I on Monday, we fly to England for a golf trip. So I guess it made huge strides. I mean, it was nothing when I was growing up, but I think that's a huge factor. Like we're in the mix of like a top five, top eight countries in the world. - Probably because the professional leagues over here aren't like as desirable as to go play over in Europe and then like what are the chances you can go and do that? So I don't know, yeah, it's a great question. - But yeah, it's just kind of, 'cause how many guys go over it? - I did see, I did see Landon Donovan talking about, and you know, you could say this with hockey in a sense, but not even close, like the youth school. - The youth system is completely broken, where the youth system here is like, it's just so much money in the coaches. I think the coaching I'm guessing for 10, 12, 14 year olds in Europe is so much better, right? And then they go to academies when they're like 11 years old over there, I think. - Yeah, yeah. - But they even have like sister academies in the US for those teams over there. - Really? - Yeah. - We'll think about the four major sports, like soccer reigns over all of those in those country. So you group all those kids that would have went and played and been distracted by those other four. You get kids at 14, 15, if you want it, you're gonna go out there and do it yourself with all the time at home you have. And then the kids who don't, they usually don't make it. - I think you just mentioned the biggest factor to genetics. I think that's the biggest factor in somebody making it athletically. - So I was talking about a buddy about this recently. He was saying, he was, I honestly think it's genetics and how bad you want it. - Yeah, it's kind of like, what it's all said and done, it's like genetics and how bad does he want it? - Right, I have one or the other, it's probably not enough. - I get them both. - Yeah. - Every day down the ranked down the street for 10 hours a day until I was 22.
