know how these kids what is that like an inhaler for oxygen boost it's an oxygen boost thing you put because these girls are playing three games a day dude it's like I don't know how they're doing a good thing they're young and young and dumb as they say but uh they don't even know they don't even know they're tired at that age I know it's like when we used to play three hockey games in a day and you didn't even think about it and then all of a sudden you get to a three and three in Wilkesbury North folk in Binghamton and you're ready to jump out the window of the bus as it's driving along I 90 uh biz very special day for you yesterday at the Wayne Gretzky hockey camp oh yeah I got the nod and buddy what a move by you um kind of remind everyone of who Chris was and because I saw you invited him for the day yeah so Chris uh he unfortunately he's ballin right now he's been dealing with some cancer stuff and we I met him because when we did the mincey that whole mincey we care when Ole Miss was playing here when he caught his flight Chris saved him a seat on the flight next to him so he was able to like get on there so that's how they got linked up and then they found out about Chris's story and then we ended up bringing him to the game he came over here for dinner but his treatments have obviously continued right so he's coming here like like a couple times a month and like you know I think his wife's only able to come uh his wife and kid are only able to come like every other month so um every time he's here I was like hey text me and if I'm around like sometimes I'm not because I'm an Atlanta for playoffs or whatever it may be or or traveling doing whatever we're doing but uh it just so happened he was in town Gretsky-Hockey schools here I'm like hey come with me and then we ended up going over last night to grab dinner with with Ty Joey uh and Christian Fisher actually who uh used to play for the Arizona coyotes a pay for Detroit I think he might have played in Columbus a little bit too um who's retired now but it was a great meal and and hit we'll get him out I think on uh hopefully on Friday when we have all the games as well but he's go oh he's battling boys he's uh he's a great great guy he just had a kid um you know beautiful wife and uh he's gonna be continuing treatments out here at Mayo yeah it's like you've obviously seen Mayo here it's like I think yeah other than Rochester, Minnesota it's probably like the best facility in all the United States in order to treat cancer yeah I think there's one in Houston as well um forget exactly what it's called but yeah that's a top tier one in uh unreal by you where did you take him to dinner we went to this andrioli's or something it's called it's like I thought Houston's for sure I thought Houston's for sure I should have given him the Houston's treatment I didn't want it I didn't want I don't think he needed any extra drama or or even throwing down some festive cuffs I thought we'd go to his like Italian a chill Italian joint but uh what a hockey school they got going that it and it it was fun jumping on with like I did the younger group and then the like the middle-aged group and then they have like an older group that I ended up leaving for because my feet were killing but I'm going back on Friday to like do the all the the championship games um but man these like young kids man they don't they don't give a shit they don't what are you talking seven to tenish I think they were like like the like the six seven group like six seven eight group of coaching kids and and Keith's brother Brian told me before last year so this was my second year coach in that age he's like you have to be just a straight up drill sergeant like you have you have to make it fun but then at times I just slash them in the head and say look me in the eye and shut up and did I ever do that no um that was maybe an exaggeration I want to put myself in a tough spot here but they will not listen until you legit kind of snap on them okay so like so I was used when I had hockey schools growing up in my hometown you know I ended up having the coaches as my minor league coaches right and they were intense in like a good way where a man if you weren't paying attention like they would they would call you out I told the story on here when I went to Nancy Grool the power skating coach and I was chit-chatting in line and she's like you're done off the ice walk the plank but that you weren't six or seven then right that's probably I was probably I was probably around yeah probably around that age okay like yeah well yeah for sure because like it was like you know you line up and there's like other kids all over the ice and stuff you do the four lines and that's how you start out the power skating style and I was in talking a lot of lines and then I know I'm in the dressing room in my dad walks he's like what are you doing I said she kicked me off the ice and that that is the scariest feeling in the world to tell your dad that yeah but nowadays nowadays the kids parents would be like my baby would never do that your dad probably grabbed you by the ear and was like get let's go let's go let's go let's go and I was just going to say I'm thankful to my dad because like he didn't go talk to Nancy Grool he's like well you better shut up next time and stop [BLANK_AUDIO] and everybody's time and I was like, okay, awesome. So I just kind of had the approach where I was gonna make sure these kids were doing the drill properly and paying attention and if they weren't paying attention, they were gonna drop down and give 10 push-ups. Like I wasn't there to just push pucks around, I was like, why are you laughing? - I love it. - That's great. I don't know how many kids that age can do 10 push-ups. I love it. It's just probably funny seeing them try to get like two. - I did say if you can't do the push-ups, you're gonna be doing crunches for me. But the drill was as they were going two on two down low, okay? So the first player in line, he had to stand there and be ready and if one of the two teams got possession, they could pass to him once he completes a pass. Boom, it ignites him and then now it's three on two down low. - Great drill. - And then great ball area game. - Great drill and it puts a lot of emphasis on the kid in line because if the other team was already activated and made it three on two, if you're not ready and you're looking at the ceiling and that puck goes by you and they get to keep possession, your guys gotta keep battling three on two 'cause you had your thumb up your ass, like looking up at the stands at your parents in line. So every single kid you had to remind them, pay attention. Like you're gonna bend your knees, be ready to take a pass. So I literally did that for like probably 45 minutes. It's just like telling every kid to make sure. But eventually I was like, you know what? I'm gonna join their team and you huddle them up and kind of make it like we can't lose this game. And then when you do that and you dangle that carrot, that's when they're like they're all engaged. You gotta like just make them think that they're playing for something that they're winning like a championship and keep their endorphins pumping 24/7 every second of every day. - Throw them in the coltub. I'll tell you this, you, I need you to have kids at some point. - I'm okay with sport it is. Hockey obviously, but like I need you as a sports dad. Girl or boy, I think you'd be unreal. Now here's where to go, Paul. - Yeah. - Where to go, Paul as he's just suckering the other team. - Oh no, I would be never, I would never be that dad. - An attorney in Montreal and mid-July. Now Biz, here's what's funny about coaching kids. And we'll get into the hockey stuff, but this is the fun stuff. Girls at that age are incredible. They were the best on the ice. They listen to every single word. They follow directions. They do the drills correct. And then you get boys and you're like, what is wrong with you and why can't, like the girls are, coaching girls is way more enjoyable at a young age. They listen. - You hit it out of the park within a comment. 'Cause there was probably, I would say five or six girls that I noticed on the ice. All intuitive, all great skaters. Like they have a good women's program here. I know Lindsey Fry helps out with that. And but yeah, no, you hit it on the head with that one. But it's funny you say that because like leaving after I drop Chris off, I'm like, damn, like I kind of want to find a breeder and just start breeding kids. - Yeah, yeah, I think it's great. - I think like I might go the surrogate route. - I don't know, man. I think you could find a beautiful athletic six foot girl and all of a sudden you just have machines coming in the next few years. - I think we started walking the surrogate style. You've been talking all these years about the stalls, who else do we got out there with all the kids, the huges. So I think it's time for you to start your little chucks. I think it's time for you to have your own little stable. - Oh, I met this kid, Casey Mutron yesterday who's gonna be, I think a first round pick this year. His dad was the quarterback at Boston College, you know, a while back. His other brother played in the Quebec League this year for Moncton, the dad's a complete tank and then I'm meeting the 17 eight year old Casey kid who was like my height completely jacked. I said, "All right, this is what business is talking about." Breeders, the type of people that you need to create monster super athletes, okay? That is it. I'm also kind of convinced that the mum has a lot to do with it. This is something I've seen more around. I'm like every stud athlete, like the mum is like big in an athlete. So that might be, you can't just rely on you. So I thought I was a breeder on anything with him besides the toughness. - Yeah, toughness and maybe the drive, he's got drive. I don't know about the academic stuff. I don't know about the patience. - I was good in geography. - Yeah, you're my best class, that in current events. - Oh, and I started trying 'cause I almost failed that and they almost sat me out and said I don't always blame you. - Yeah, but going back to that, like Teddy Priscilla, like he married the volleyball player. - Oh, come on. - Beautiful volleyball player, 6-1. - Oh, it might be 6-4 even. She's tall even Teddy and he's 6-2. - Okay, he's kind of slouched over a little bit sometimes, too. So maybe she is 6-1, he's laughing. - He's just laughing at something. - We got to, let's do a summer interview with him. We've talked to him in a long time. - I saw him in Montreal. He's scouting a little bit and helping out with Montreal. And yeah, he's working with Adam Oates. Still, he does a lot of that breaking down the table. It was funny, he was showing me clips and he was talking about certain team's power play and why it struggles. I think he was mentioning Colorado, just having certain handed sticks on certain sides. Stuff that obviously I don't know. I'll just teach my kid at a hike. But yeah, no, I think, should we do like a little, maybe we can put like a list together or get some volunteers who would want to carry my baby for as far as the breeders can be. - Yeah, well based on the DMs I've seen, you get, there's a ton of volunteers. There's a ton of them out there. - I know, but we need the athletic ones. - Should we do like a, should we do a combine for my kids, for my kids, mom? - That would be unbelievable. - We get 50 women, they got to do the 40 yard dash, the vertical jump, maybe some sort of set up test, like a plank test. And maybe then. - We'll get up the Pittsburgh Penguins test when we were the plan. - Oh, man, hey, wait, go over there and do pushups. Uh, okay, how many did you get? I got the 300, good job. And then Rob Skinnery's like, dude, you're an idiot. Why, then you got to beat that next year. You never want to give a number. You know, you can't beat it in case they happen to watch one day. So the Pittsburgh testing with, what was it? John, oh, I can't think of this last name right now. - Now, if people saw videos of that testing, they would think it was like the third league in Switzerland based on like, well, how we were going about things at training camp then. So, funny enough, I would. - Can I just quickly mention Chris and it's Chris Hilliard. And he's got a charity and a goal fund me set up. And if you want to help him out, like, you know, him and his family are obviously struggling right now with like some of these bills and everything that comes with dealing with fighting for his life. So just a great human being, guys, like, like, whenever I'm around and he's around, like, he's just a guy that you, like, want to be around so happy, so pleasant. And he's obviously dealing with a shit sandwich right now. So we're going to root for him and he's going to keep fighting. And, and I think the yak has done a lot to help him and his family out. So shut out to the yak and big cat and all the, Kate and all the crew over there. And, and another thing, too, is I know Mency gets a lot of flak. I was like, hey, who do you keep up with the most from Barstool? And he says like, Mency and Ohio paid, like, they reach out all the time and, and they're still keeping in contact with them. It upset you a little bit and it's bullshit. And I don't want those people online being assholes. They don't upset me. They don't upset me. I've come to learn that being online is kind of a brutal part of our job. It's fun at times. I think back to when I first got Twitter injured. Me and Halsey started a Twitter today together right when we were out injured. I think it was 2011, if not 12, and it was funny. And it was fucking just hilarious. And it's just turned kind of gross and nasty. Very mean, very mean spirited for a guy who's gotten really, really mean things said to him for a long time now. I'm over it. So I can deal with it. I can deal with it. Now I can admit this. At the time when I got it, I was disgusted. I was appalled and it really crushed my confidence. Is that pathetic to admit? Maybe, but I got no problem admitting it. Funny enough, there's a man who, I think his name's Tyler Dello. And he was blogging and then I think the Oilers hired him. Well, now he's a member of the Carolina Hurricanes. He's an analytical guy. He's been very, very early on to this stuff. Gee, make sure I'm getting the name right. Google Tyler Dello is his Twitter name, MCHawkE79. A tweet has resurfaced from me from 2012, where he must have been carving me because he was doing a lot of oiler stuff, then his tweet is deleted. But my response was something like, oh, how do you figure that out in between being in your basement playing World to Be. of warcraft in your mom's basin. Something where I was very rattled that whatever analytic numbers he was throwing out made me look very bad. And so my response has kind of resurfaced because a lot of people are like, how many Stanley Cup championships has Ryan Whitney on zero, Tyler Delo has won. He's ended up doing a hell of a job. The guy knows what he's doing at the time. He was very mean to me, probably deserved it with my play. But that was back when I was sensitive to it at Ryan. And now I'm just like, carve me. I don't really care. I got three kids who love me an amazing wife and I get to play golf at these set 'em out. We'll talk to my friends about hockey. So I've been able to overcome the Twitter beatdowns and in terms of holding a shot, I think it was 152 yards playing uphill into the wind. Whenever Keith hits an eight, I hit a seven. Keith hits a five, I hit a four. Keith hit an eight, it was there, but a touch short. I think it was just in the rough, maybe just in the green. And I think we thought it was close. Yeah, we might have, we might have. But our guy, who's our guy that does the approaches at the sandbags. Rollie fingers. Yeah, Nate. Nate. Nate don't agree. Yeah, Rollie fingers. And, and before I had seen his press conference, I'd seen Jack Eichel say like, yeah, I, I guess everyone, you know, there's a lot of noise out there about us being the bad guys. And I don't remember exactly what he said, but he goes, we're not on anyone's no trade list, which kind of cracked me up because that's a fact. And then McGriffin, one of the things he said is people are uncomfortable admitting we do a hell of a job. And it's like, the guy's right. I don't, I don't agree with that. I don't, I don't think any, any of us or anybody who said that their cutthroat are uncomfortable admitting that they're. Oh, I think a fan, I think a lot of fan bases out there like hate them. But you, but you, but you get to admit they're doing a good job. Yeah, I don't know if everyone does. Oh, fuck, well, I mean, like those are the same ones fucking chirping you on Twitter about your dunk shot. I think a lot of the people are like, yeah, no state tax. They were gifted us a great team out of being an expansion. There's a lot of excuse making for with Vegas haters out there. I know who they are. Who they are. Okay. If we, if we're having the full-length conversation, you can't deny that the expansion rules, the new ones, which I think they've adjusted since then or at least teams have adjusted from it, they benefited Vegas more than they have any other expansion team in the history of our sport. Now, them taking advantage of it and exploiting it and being prepared for that. That's a different thing. That's a tip of the cap to going to the Stanley Cup Final in your first year of existence by creating this band of misfits and then having other teams give you unreal assets to protect in some cases ones that didn't even end up delivering for them in long run. So that, I just, it feels like it's become a little bit of a sensitive topic for them, which is surprising because it's like, who fucking cares, just ignore the outside noise? Is there, is there any real mainstream media going after them? No. No. It's just peasants online, like us. Maybe me. But, but. But I admit, but I admit they're just great. Great. And you were one of the longest 10 year guys there, like just like how proud of you are what you guys have been able to build and how proud of you are the fact that you've been able to be there the whole time and kind of see it through and go through all those down periods where you guys weren't able to get past the Eastern Conference final. But to then now hoist it with all the boys. Yeah, it sucks that it took this long, but honestly, like good things take time and it is worth it. It's gratifying and knowing that I've been here for the whole whole time and there's times I thought about that I was maybe not going to be here, but I just couldn't imagine leaving and then they do this without me, like that would have ripped my heart out. I love yeah hell of a power play guy I can't believe so I actually I got a pretty heated call from Sean Avery who wants to come back on the podcast the other day I didn't exactly say he had the best takes the last time we were on Especially about Carolina and their depth that could have been the maybe the worst take of all of playoffs But his frustration was in the rehiring of all the like the recycling of the coaches where he's like Why can't a guy like Scotty Gomez get a chance or like these younger now I would love to see Scotty at one time as a head coach behind an HL bench I do think that he obviously needs more experience. It's just, I was, I was unbelievable. Cups a little bit better though. Cause like, you win a gold medal and then you're like, Oh, shit, I get right back to work where now is like, you can kind of go on a little bit of a bender all summer. And I was like, I probably was. Uh, but for me, I mean, my faith is the most important part. Um, and yeah, when I, when I say like, I really landed my faith, it's just, there's, there's a certain piece that comes from having a relationship with Christ, for my performance doesn't dictate my identity. A lot of guys in hockey, how they play, whether they play great or whether they play bad, it just takes their identity, their mood, all that kind of stuff. And for me, being able to have that relationship with Christ really just helps me stay at peace regardless of the performance. Uh, just because I know that God loves me no matter what Jesus already died on the cross of my sins. And so whether I suck at hockey or whether I played unbelievable, it doesn't change his love for me. So being able to rely on that going into game two against that Montreal series is really where my focus was. It's like, I, you still have an opportunity to go out there and glorify God on the world stage. And that's what I, that's what I was wanting to do. That is, that's awesome. I just, just given that mindset and how you're able to bounce back and like things like that don't affect you because like, obviously, there's a bigger purpose and things like that have, have other teammates who maybe weren't as, uh, as into their faith as you are, have they ever like approach you to like, like ask for help and maybe go in that direction where it has ended up helping them in their hockey game? Yeah, absolutely. I, uh, I shared a story. This happened a couple seasons ago, but Chatfield, he became a Christian, um, maybe three seasons ago. I ended up baptizing him and my bowl is pretty special. Uh, but him and I, we had a lot of good conversations on the bus, on the plane, all of it. And then he eventually went with our team chaplain, um, except at Christ and we've had lots of good conversations since then, but he, he, again, he understands now that his identity is is not in the game of our game. way we always talk about is one day hockey's gonna end and if you ever identity found in hockey you're gonna kind of be shook up a little bit trying to find a purpose in your life after that but when your purpose is just to glorify god and everything you do you don't lose your purpose when you stop tying up the skates. Ever since he came to our team I've always thought man this guy he just absolutely buzzes out there and so having him on the team being able to obviously be his partner and have him on the team for so long it's been honestly just a treat and then just to watch him continue to blossom into the defenseman that he's becoming it's unbelievable and we might not be the most offensive pair there is but I mean I feel like during the playoffs there's we got other guys unbelievable defenseman on our team to provide that offense so our job is to shut down the other team's top line and felt like we were able to do that for the most part pretty well all playoffs and I looked at him after and because I've had a lot of unbelievable partners in my career from Dougie Hamilton to Brett Burns and Tony DeAngelo Brett Pesley a little bit they're like I've had some really good deep partners but him and I chatting I feel like we shut it down pretty good and I told him because he looked at me at one point I was just like hey sorry man that wasn't like wasn't the best I was like hey I've never want to come up with any other deep partner I want to come up with you and so that's very special he was you guys were unbelievable it was cool they also hear when we talked to you pregame with he learned that busy stick and always in the in the stick lane from a sister he played hockey yeah yeah yeah my sister she was a solid defenseman and I I went back after that interview and I was like I kind of probably messed up because she played boys hockey up until 14 triple A like she was she played 14 triple A in Colorado and she was a absolute beast out there she wasn't afraid to hit himself but then after that once she switched to girls hockey once I really started to develop in my game is when I probably learned more more from her about just positioning and and skating and being in the right position with their stick and stuff once she started playing girls hockey wasn't able to hit as much but no she was an unbelievable defenseman and definitely learned a lot from her for you personally like oh there's you played 82 games three years in a row you've played 81 you've played 80 79 didn't miss a ton of games then you're injured to start the year we've oftentimes on this show mentioned that sometimes when you go on a run it can almost help you because you're maybe a little bit more rested was that the case for you maybe like and how hard was it missing all that time when you've never really had to do that yeah it was really hard I wouldn't say it's the right word it was interesting because like you said I've never been to injury that I had at the beginning of the season was a super weird fluke injury in my knee I had a little stress fracture in it but like second game of the year trying to try to come back because it happened probably a month before training camp started and then I tried to come back from it and my knee just gave out on me but it wasn't like I wasn't like my muscle I don't know it was just a really weird injury so when I look at a big picture I honestly like go back to to my faith again and just say like God had his timing in it for all of it and even the fact like I come back play three games hurt my shoulder and then out for another three and a half weeks at that one I'm not sure if the Olympics are going to happen and then play maybe for three weeks before the Olympics and Billy Guerin called me saying hey we're still going to take you I want to see where you're at right before and so I think all of it honestly was just God preparing my body to be able to go on the long run to be able to play in the Olympics and then make a long stay on the cup round so I'm just really trusted in the process and again do that whole time never lost my joy never lost the love for the game or just the love for Christ just because again my joy is not found in hockey whether I'm injured or whether I'm healthy it's just my joy is found in the Lord and so that was something I was able to lean into during that time especially yeah do I go or you go no yeah I just had one about you know you winning Olympic gold and then Stanley Cup which one felt better obviously you battling with the the hurricanes for the last 10 years or so but you win for your country or you win for your city like which one felt better I can I say it both felt amazing in their own way because they they did I mean it's there's no better honor than representing your country and obviously the all the people have flipped and fought and died for our country like I know some some guys down in North Carolina at Fort Bragg and they were so pumped like beyond pumped for us to win my brother a lot was a Marine for a long time so like there's there's just people that it meant a lot to them so represented the country there's there's no greater thing to do um but then obviously you're in car I'm in Carolina for 11 years like it's my 11th season with the team and so the city the people the community there the organization I mean these these guys are my brother on this bus and so it's it's something that's completely amazing in its own way uh that's what I'm going to say they're both amazing but just different ways so you were there before rod came in yeah I was there for the first couple of years where play uh play the coyotes on a Tuesday night and we had 5,000 fans if we were lucky in the building and now we're selling out every night so been here a long time like what like with actually brought up a cool story that you read about while we're on the last podcast about the like the sender block in the room yeah who who introduced that was that a rod thing and were you guys aware that it was the same weight as a Stanley Cup like or did you guys find out afterward when when he kind of explained why you guys were doing this after every workout yeah so that would have been Roddy and Billy our strength coach do is I mean you've seen some videos on him probably he's one of a kind but uh yeah it was one of those things where I think they both knew what was going on the whole time but until Roddy told us couple weeks ago to have no idea it was just something that we did and uh just after every workout you left that up once and that was about it so that was something they introduced us or Roddy kind of explained us uh in that moment okay so was it a moment where like that he brought up before you guys had won it where he just felt like he needed to drop the ace of spades and be like the reason that you were in there doing that the whole time like what moment did he did he tell you guys that yeah I know exactly I think uh can I remember I was in the the last series against Vegas and he's like I've been debating telling you guys this and he was just like the reason we do this simple uh similar block thing is it's ways just as much as a cocktail so every day you practice lifting that thing off that's that's preparing you guys for this moment that might happen and so I think just lie a little a little bit more fire under us and try to get us going do you ever think about how blessed you are to have a guy like that who cares as much as he does and understands the community and like what he's been able to build obviously with you Marty, Stalzy, probably Aho and Spetch have been there the longest like slowly building and and getting you guys to where you've been and the I guess the sacrifice he's made to the city and of Raleigh. Yeah I had some believe but I'm still thankful but he's my coach I'm talking about it with my wife actually like I can't imagine having another coach like in my career like I feel like he's he's he's been in it we've been together eight years now and I can't I go what seven years left on my contract I can't imagine having a different coach in the next seven years like but like he's in it for the long call he's an unbelievable coach the respect that he has for us as players as people for our families for the city like he's he's the perfect coach for us here. Jacob I'm so interested with your personal life and your faith because like it hits me hard because I was somebody that was you play good and you're the best and you play bad and you're worthless it was something that I always fought and hearing you talk about being a player doesn't really make who you are like it doesn't go hand in hand and even looking at your Instagram like you've done you do work with the international justice mission your wife and you adopted your daughter like I'm wondering what it means to you to do work for others and and how about you went about adopting your daughter and how that all began and just like take us through some parts of your life that people don't know just watching you kind of be a stud defensive defenseman every year. Yeah I guess I guess the easiest way to probably go about that would be uh I mean everything that I have my family my my life my my heartbeat for everything is just a is just a gift from God and he he sent his son to die in the cross my sins to save me and without that I'd be spending an eternity separated from him and so him being willing to sacrifice his own life he wants to be well I want to live my life for him and in every aspect whether that's with my family whether that's whether that's for the relationships of friends whether that's for him and so in order to do that I want I have to be willing to be obedient to how he calls me to live, but also will need to be generous because obviously he was generous with giving us his own life. And so when it comes to finances, when it comes to just being in the community, like I'm called to be a light in this world. And so I want to do that in every aspect. When it comes to the adoption store, my wife just always had adoption on her heart for the time she was 10 years old. And we actually were dating and we were talking about it. Like, yeah, I'm not sure I want to adopt. She was like, well, that's going to be a deal breaker for me. And so I was like, all right, fine, we can adopt whatever. Like I was 18 years old or whatever. I had to say to keep the girl at the time. And so eventually we got married. And as we were going about it, we started talking about having kids. And we went to some fundraising event where there's a story about a six year old adopted boy. And on the way home, she was like, all right, I want to adopt a six year old boy. I was like, hold on, pump the brakes. Like I thought we were having biological firstings. There we had to go through a whole conversation about it, God really worked on my heart to get me to the spot where I was. I just had to put my-- we talked about it all the time. I'm putting your yes on the table. It's like, whatever God has for us, we're going to trust that that's the plan. And that's what's best for us. And so we went to the adoption route first and God brought Emerson into our life. And she's amazing. She's so fun. And she's seven years old now. But we just kind of went into that process with open hands of our God, whatever child you want to place in our lives. That's going to be the child that you place in our life and self. She's amazing. And then obviously we had our son biological and figuring out what we wanted to do for the third woman. But yeah, and then when it comes to helping out international justice mission or compassion international, it's really just God's giving us the blessing of great finances, right? Pointing in NHL, we have all the finances we could ask for. But at the end of the day, we're just stewards of it. That's not our money. It's his money. And so we want to use it in a way that glorifies him. And right now, in my career, I don't have time to go overseas and serve. But I can help organizations that are already doing that. And by giving them their money, by encouraging other people to give them their money and really just using the platform, God has given us to extend that reach of people understanding what's going on in the world and what needs help. Have you-- I'm sure it's been nice probably being with a team in an organization who's very receptive to your beliefs as well. Did you ever find maybe that even growing up that you were playing hockey in a place where there wasn't as many people that were into their faith where you almost felt like, I don't want to say like an outcast, but just like different. Do you feel like in Carolina, they'd been so receptive to all that, to where it just feels like home? Yeah, I think being-- Ruth Raleigh, technically being part of the Bible belt, it definitely helps. I mean, we're in a community where there's a church on every corner, right? And so, I found a great church home. Honestly, it's-- my wife is from St. Louis, Syria. I'm from Colorado. We're always home for us. It's been home for us ever since our year. And so we stayed there during the summertime. So we're well connected in the community. But yeah, no, everyone's been so receptive. And so understanding of it, I mean, honestly, my whole career, everywhere I've gone. It's been-- everyone accepts me for growing I am and for what I believe. And obviously, I don't stand in the locker room. I'm going to pedestal trying to pound the Bible into people's heads, but I'm just trying to live genuinely and love people well. Is there like ongoing jokes in the locker room about it? Do they call you like Ned Flanders? Or like, can you take the piss a little bit about it, too? Oh, and he spit out the champagne. They chirped him. I can see the font of it. I mean, and we've had some good jokes in the locker room about it. I'm even getting on the bus to go to this golf course. We texted a group chat saying, hey, I got a bagels. I was picking up some bagels on the way and someone texted back saying, can you bring Jesus to? I might eat them. And so a little jokes like that. And so it's all in fun. It had to be D-Low who said that. Hey, Jacob, all the D-Low. Well, the D-Low. Jacob Olstein. Yeah. I don't know about that one, but-- The mega church. But that's a conversation where you come over and hang out in the pool. Hey, when we were doing the TNT broadcast, it felt like we were in a mega church when the fans were going crazy when you guys were coming out of the tunnel, man. It was nuts in there. That's bananas in Lenovo Center. I guess it's so good. You know who needs Jesus? Is this guy behind you right now? Yeah. Oh, yeah. Kind of looks like I'm right now. D-Low, we're going to say a prayer for you. Hey, can we do a prayer for D-Low right now? I'm saying you need Jesus right now. D-Low told me he was going to play golf with me at 8.30 this morning. Promise me, actually, last night, did not make it-- No chance. No chance. If we had to do a small prayer for him right now, what would we say? Like, what would we do? I would pray that he would just feel the love of God and that God would open his eyes to the beauty of the gospel. That it's not about what you've done, what you do. That's all about what Jesus has done for you. And so just that his eyes would be open to that. And let him stay awake for the whole prayer, amen. Yes, amen. Hopefully he doesn't keep going the way home on this bus ride. Can you also ask God to give me dance moves like he had at the elbow room when he got caught on the live camp? Oh, yeah. I haven't seen that video yet. I heard he was buzzing out there, though. Yeah, he's a buzzing. So you're not-- I mean, I know you have your Instagram, but you're not reading comments, Twitter. You're stay away from all that noise I'm guessing. I have in recent years. I used to not. And I was just like anybody, right? Pride creeps in. And you want to know what people are saying about you. And so about the past couple of years, I've just done away with that kind of stuff. And there's a great-- there's a Christian rapper. I don't know if you ever listen to Christian rap is, but there's some good songs out there. And there's a song by La Cray. And he says, if you live for their acceptance, you'll die from their rejection. And so I was just like, that's pointless to read these comments. They don't-- that's pointless. And so I just-- I got away from it. Fuck it. You're a G, dude. I love-- you're the best, dude. You're the best. I'm so happy for you. I appreciate it. It's an incredible player to watch and like a better human buddy. It's very impressive, really happy for you. Being an American, watching that in Italy, it was just something I'll never forget. And then this run by you guys and the performance you had, it's hats off to you, buddy. It's incredible to see. Yeah, it's been a fun year. I got to be a part of two on an unbelievable team, right? Like the team in Carolina, unbelievable. The U.S. team, unbelievable. So really just grateful for the opportunity. And it's just been just taking it as a compliment having fun with it. My final question, could you always skate so well? Was that always your thing? So it's funny to say that I've always thought, like, obviously I get from point A to point B. Well, it doesn't look pretty though. I don't think it looks pretty. I think I've always thought I had a funny looking stride, but I get there from point A to point B. That's all that matters. Got to get first three steps. And then after that, it's just positioning. And so I think that just came with not being too physical and really having to make sure I was in the right position at the right time. So, yeah. If you could pick one unsung hero in that locker room from this run, who would it be? Like who's the one guy that sticks out to you? Maybe he didn't get the most public praise, but you're like, this guy was, he was my guy. He's the guy that I thought that played unbelievable. All play off song and find out I've gotten the attention for Sean Walker. I thought he played. I thought he played so good. And I thought he was a beast out there. He's blowing guys up. He's making plays. And so I like this game loved it all play off song. I'm a key, we're just dynamite of a deep pair of all play off song. He was unreal, that series too. You guys, like, I think four different guys led your team in ice time throughout that run in different games. Like, so you never see that. Like that is usually one guy is always playing the most minutes. That was so cool about your decore. Just deep. Yeah, it's deep. The whole team is deep. I guess just there was one of those runs where everything was clicking the whole playoffs. Like we've had both, we've had runs before. Powerplay wasn't going, penalty kill wasn't going, goal-tending fell off or whatever, but we had everything that's run. I mean, I think we can let them go with. This has just been awesome. We're so grateful for their time. You're on the bus with the boys and we appreciate it. So tell everyone congrats and once again, man, amazing run, very happy for you and your family. And to, we've actually been going to church. Well, I grew up Catholic, but we were practicing Catholics. Breeze Christian. I went to church when I was young. We've been going to a non-denominational Christian church, nearby. It's called Grace Church. And I actually really enjoyed it. It's a lot different than a Catholic mass. And hearing the way that he puts it all into perspective and what his life is about and why he's living, it's very inspirational personally. It is. And to see him and his success and talk about no ego. And it's just amazing. And what a player he is, too. So that's pretty cool. And, Biz, I like that question about outcast almost. [BLANK_AUDIO] Well, buddy, if you would have, like in some locker room, yeah, if you would have went in there, like, I don't want to say you would have been rejected, but it's just maybe you wouldn't have fit in as much like I personally was a teammate where like donor would do Bible study, like he would say, Hey, we're going to get together. And sometimes it's only be a couple guys in the room. Sometimes it'd be like four or five. And you know, sometimes I would go in and just to like have the conversation and learn about what's important about faith. But as you could see, like, a lot of times, like, you know, people will be in their own head and be going through struggles. And when you have religion in God in your corner, like, so a lot of the times that stuff other stuff doesn't faze you. It's just outside noise. So rather than going to see a psychiatrist or whatever, like, sometimes just having a conversation like that with God or reading the Bible or even going to church, like you said, like that can cure, cure what you need. So yeah, I'm glad that we had them on and have are having this conversation because I think it's important. And I grew up going to church just as much probably as you did, like once a week. And then obviously hockey kicked in more and more. And then we stopped going. But it's a good reflection time. You sit there and you listen to people's interpretation of what, you know, each what the verses mean. And it's cool. It's it's it's it's very very rewarding. Yeah. I think now I do want to discuss this CBC news with hockey night in Canada, but let's save that for R.A. and bring in the war hog. Hello, everybody and welcome to our raise world here on the spit and chick, let's podcast what's up boys, winding down the end of the season, wait, I had that my notes CBC is no longer gonna be having hockey night in Canada. I feel like this is huge news up there. I'm so confused. That is hockey night in Canada. Yeah, but CBC is the public airwaves. I guess stick of it like PBS here in the States, like channel two, it's like free over the year television. But now I always thought of it as like NBC, ABC or CBS. No, those while those are free over the year, this is public. It's paid for by the public. It's public broadcast. And so ABC, CBS NBC, they're all private companies, but PBS, you know, what we have W H D H. I'm sorry, W whatever hell it is a channel to PBS. That's what it's called here. And so it's always been public broadcast on CBC. It's still going to be hockey night in Canada. It's just going to be on sports then now. But it will not be hockey, it will not be called hockey night in Canada, because I believe CBC owns that IP. Right. But I do believe they're going to, they're going to be able to use the name. I'm sure they're probably going to give them, you know, give a little kick back or whatever. But there's still going to be hockey. It can't, it's just not going to be on CBC. Like it has been forever. And you know, this is when you feel bad for like all time is like, you know, I think like, you know, guys, my dad's age, who, you know, they've been the best customer's best fans forever. And now, you know, a lot of guys, you know, don't stream a lot of all the folks don't, don't get the gist of it. So they, they kind of, they kind of get screwed when everything goes to cable or whatever. So it will be in future households over the last 12 years since sports net and Rogers have owned the rights. They were allowing hockey night in Canada to take place on CBC because they kind of didn't want to change it over. And it was one of those, you know, they worked out a deal, whatever that deal may have been. It also was like, obviously, pretty good like promotion wise, where CBC would do it. And then they would get to talk about some of the shows that they would air on CBC and promote, you know, some of the things that they have done. So it was a good like working relationship. I think that now like considering Rogers and sports that and what they pay for the rights, they were like, okay, well, we've basically essentially given it over for for scents on the dollar. And now we're not going to do so anymore. So in less households. And it's just more about the tradition. I think that it's been since like 1952, maybe R.A. or you could correct me since it's been on CBC. So this is where like a lot of people like, you know, R.A.'s parents age or even R.A.'s age, like watch hockey growing up. Like yeah, it would have been what 70s for you, R.A. Yeah, but growing up. Yeah, but it's definitely the end of an error, though, you know, like it's I mean, hockey, that and Cameron CBC there, you know, sort of almost one on the same. So I mean, people still be able to watch it. But yeah, going from the public airwaves to to a paid channel, it's yeah, it's a big change. And I'm sure a lot of folks out there probably aren't crazy about it. But I think that's just the way the world, the way things go with what sports media and broadcasts and stuff, there's your towel right there. But when did you get that one, buddy? I actually got Q towels. I actually brought one over to the the the Gretzky hockey school because we're gonna do some fun interviews and like pay homage to hockey night in Canada, considering it's no longer going to be on CBC on Friday. So the MVP of the game will I'll interview them and they'll get the towel around their neck. I got one for when I was on after hours with Scott Oak and razor from from Dallas. I think it was those two. Yeah, Carol Ray is razor is nickname. Yeah, I think they call him razor. Yeah, Carol Ray. And we did that one in Arizona. I didn't play in the game was a healthy scratch, but still got to do after hours. It might be the only time that's ever happened. Maybe, yeah, maybe. And then I got another one from Ron McLean, when I did my first ever hockey night in Canada for for CBC with the boys up in Toronto. So I got two towels. This one is the one I did after hours. The other one I dropped off with the boys is the one that Ron McLean gave me. And like you talked about Array, like I had I got to do it. I feel honored that I was a part of it and got to be a part of that. And I just I respect the history of it. There were so many amazing people that worked there in the media landscape. I know that some people's attention want to be drawn to like, Oh, the Don Cherry and Ron McLean thing like, there was so many great memories and years of that relationship and and that friendship. So that's where I'd rather focus my attention on and all the amazing things that they did in order to bring hockey to the forefront and create so many amazing memories across Canada for so many hockey lovers. Like this is where people used to watch Wayne Gretzky and Bobby Orr and and you know, and listen to Bob Cole and they just it was it was an amazing broadcast for so many years. And I think it's just time to kind of shed light on the amazing memory of it. And and thank you everybody who allowed me to be a part of it as well. Be an American I I got one with an intermission interview and you know, they put it over they make sure the logos right over there. And I was like, this is so cool. And I'm so cool. Alexander Niketian is the first Russian player born in this century, the 21st century, to win the Stanley Cup thus far. And this is from Chris Johnson. On the same ice service, well, Lazela became the first Danish player to win the Stanley Cup back in 2018 with the caps. Frederick Anderson and Nikolai Eilas became the second and third to do it on the same surface of ice. So pretty cool stuff there. I feel curious about odds for next year. Carolina is the chalk already that seven to one win the cup next year Colorado eight to one Vegas plus eight 50 Florida 11 and one Edmonton 11 and one Tampa 12 to one. Not sure if he had curious about anything else, but not going to read all 32 of them there. Patrice Bergeron, absolutely no surprise. He has 37 going up to the rafters. The Bruins haven't announced the game yet. That's going to be forthcoming. But they did this thing. I guess they probably got the idea from the NHL where they were doing the awards. They were kind of like Hood Wicken guys into showing up where they did know they were going to get the trophy. Well, I guess Z had reached out to Bergeron. I guess he's going to be planned Z's final shift a game over in Slovakia later in the summer. And Bergeron's going to go all far. So Z called them under the guys that they were going to film some stuff. But unbeknownst to Bergeron, nearly Middleton, O'Reilly, Johnny Bucic and Charlie Jacobs all showed up to let him know that they were going to be retired as number. So they, you know, they did it right at his house and stuff. So you can check out the video on Bruins. Wow. Really cool. Yeah. We just did an hour and a half interview with him last week. Patrice Bergeron. And that is going to be an excellent speech when his jersey is retired. The guy is he's just very awesome to listen to him talk. And so I think that night'll be very special. That's going to be a packed barn. And just I think many kids or guys, granelli's age, even older, that's like their favorite broon of all time. So it's pretty cool. Yeah, it's pure class. Like when he walks in a room, you're just like, there's a presence about him and just so stoic. But yet, like, like the humility, like didn't take himself seriously. He was funny. Just fucking handsome guy too. That's salad he's got on him jeez he I mean some guys get it all a array Yeah, and some don't. Yeah, he kind of has that presence like like a Jean Belle of O or Jean retell back day. You know, it's like, you know, just a drips class the way he played the game as well. And gee, how old were you when he broke into the league? You must have been a guy. Yeah, it's crazy. I probably had to be 9 or 10 years old. So basically, like my whole life, all I knew was Patrice Berger on winning draws and being the best defensive forward in the league. So it's pretty cool. And I tell this story on, uh, when we interview him, but like my dad changed our season tickets when we were little kids because all he wanted us to do was learn the game and play like Patrice Berger on. Obviously, it didn't work well, but he moved us up to the balcony, the first row balcony. We'd sit right behind the Bruins net, so we could watch how Patrice Berger on played in the defensive zone. And every time we'd sit there, he'd say, I saw 37 watch 37 watch 37. So when I texted my family that we interviewed Patrice Berger on, they said it was a bigger deal than when we interviewed Tom Brady. So he means so much to the community to my family. And yeah, it's, uh, he's the best. That's unreal. That's unreal. And for those of you who think, oh, like Jersey retirement, like the rumors will be squashed. He's coming back to play. No, we're going to continue those year and year out, um, you know, right, right, right around the midway point with the Bruins. You get to wear the same number, too. Nobody else can wear it. Not saying you can't wear it. Yeah, 19 seasons is a grown six selky trophies. Obviously he played three Stanley cups, uh, one one of them. Let's, uh, let's see, a thousand 40 points in 1294 games, then 128 points and 170 playoff games. And yeah, just just an all-time legend here. I was telling Keith, when you guys were in town last week, he was actually at the 2005 Boston Marathon, the year the lockout, because he played his rookie season. Then he was in Providence. The next year, because Providence was locked out. And while she brought him to the marathon, we're from Boyle Austin Street, you know, back all the city because we outside public drinking, whatever. I had a little bit of a glow on it. And I was, I was basically like telling him like, you're going to, you're going to like show the way you're going to show thought in the way you're going to lead the way. Like teach him, he's like, look at him. Like I get this doggy out of my face. But yeah, little, little drunk as an escapade 20 something years ago with him. But either way, congrats. The Patrice Burr is run one of the all-time best Bruins ever. You guys are just talking about trades. This one's from Darren Drega, uh, Vinnie Trollcheck, uh, his high at Patrice on in CAA to represent him moving forward. Uh, Trollcheck was a target of trade speculation headed into the deadline. So this change will fuel more of that in days ahead per Drega. Uh, lots of teams interested. No big surprise there. But I don't think you guys mentioned the Ross Colton trade. Did you? No. No. Okay. Yeah. Pretty, pretty significant trade. Ross Colton, uh, what's the predators? Along with uh, golden prospect, Isaac, uh, Posh. He was an undrafted free agent. Played a couple years in the AHL went to St. Cloud State going back to Colorado. It was another Swedish goalie, uh, Magnus Krona, uh, the third in 26 and the third in 27th. So yeah, I mean, Colton, I mean, I thought he did a good job in Colorado. I think it's a case. Maybe what's his name? McFallon went to Nashville. Maybe he knows what he has. He's a known commodity to the GN. So the one they get back two thirds. Um, he makes four million. Yeah, good, good legs, good speed on him. I just think that like, you, they're going to need a little bit more cap space. Maybe to make some more significant moves. And I think that a team I call our auto usually is pretty good at and going to replace what Colton can provide at a cheaper value. Like I have no doubt that they'll be able to go find that. They have great management. Well, they did lose, uh, obviously McFallon to Nashville. So, you know, maybe they lose a little bit of that skill set up top and management. But yeah, I mean, four million bucks. It's kind of a lot for, I mean, you would easily consider him a bottom six guy, right? Yeah, he's got a, he could play up a little setup. Yeah, middle six, he's, he's UFA after this year. Maybe that had something to do with it. Yeah. Guys, we got a little breaking news here. Elliott Friedman, now that the league is cleared, Mike Babcock word is the oilers will formally begin the process of hiring contract negotiations, et cetera, assuming no slags timeline appears to be early next week. There we go, baby. I'll tell you it's going to be a story for the ages watching this. And I guess I wouldn't be surprised if they have a phenomenal year. They got rest. They got two of the best players in the world and they got a Stanley Cup winning coach now. Now if this thing fizzles and becomes a disaster, it's an all time, um, egg on the face. Look for the Edmonton oilers, but based on talking to the leadership committee and group that talked to Babcock, they believe that this is the guy that can get him over the hump. But now it keeps saying it gives Connor an easy out like, what do you mean? Like it was his fucking decision that hire him as coach. Yeah, it's, I mean that it's a shit show now. And, and he can just say after this all unfolds and it doesn't work because what we're being told is that this came from ownership that ownership presented this idea to the leadership group and he agreed to it. Well, maybe he goes to when he's going to say, this is just too fucking much. This didn't work. It didn't work again. I have fucking ownership coming to me saying we should hire Mike Babcock. Are you joking? Let's go somewhere else and just get rid of this shit show. I don't know. I don't know. What do you feel about it? He could have just said, hey, no, it's not the guy. Yeah, I think that it just all depends on how they do this year. It doesn't really matter. Like they just have to win. If they don't win, maybe he's gone. He had 50,000 Instagram followers before this game. Oh, the capability. Golly. Yes. Didn't it get up to two million. Buddy, he's at 15 million Instagram followers. That tells you how big soccer is. One game standing on his head. He gained like whatever, 13, 14 million followers on Instagram. That changes your life. Like you could just, you could be doing and it's texted our group chat here at home. And who were they playing against again? Spain. Spain. He's like, dude, this is the most dominating game I've ever seen. Like, and this goalie Stan is had. So I clipped, clicked it on. It looked like Spain had three more players on the field. It was nuts. What this guy was doing. And his last name I believe is Bezner. Similar. Yeah. V. O. Z. I. N. H. A. But it also BJ. I think you buried the lead. He's 40 years old. They, they just like dug them out the scrap. He briefly bit 40 years old, playing at that level. And that's huge, man. I mean, Spain's a global power. And then we saw a similar couple. The next day, Ghana got the, I'm sorry, not Ghana Congo. They tied Portugal. I mean, Portugal is another world power. I think it was their first second time in the World Cup. The first time since 1974, back when they were known as Zaire way back then. So these are, you know, small countries that, you know, I mean, ties as good as a win. Would you look at these two teams? Plus what Messi did the other night? The, the Nadi had he for the three of the win over Algier. That was just unbelievable. And I think honestly, like, they've been big knock on soccer, at least in this country. It's boring. But I don't know, man, the more you watch it, you just, you appreciate the strategy. Well, I think you appreciate the World Cup because of the fandom and the chance and everything that's going on. I mean, pornoise video about the stocks taken over Boston was incredible about how Norway does the rowing up the escalator rule. They do it out like at the field as well, but yeah, it's amazing, man. It's cool to see. And yeah, Ghana, that was on the great game. They get the buzzer beater. They beat Panama in that extra time. And that's the one thing about soccer, too, is you just don't know when the final whistle is gonna go, right? Like, I mean, referee just blows it. The lab, they're like five or six minutes, like the plus five, but you really don't know exactly when it's gonna go. It's not like hockey or basketball where it's like a set time. Yeah, no, and so they've, they also expanded. So like obviously all these super power teams get to play against some of the bottom feeders, which it's cool. It's good to get the bottom feeders experience like, you know, just has more people watching the tournament, and it also gets the superstar's going. Like you see that hot, is it hoglin guy? He had two goals, I think, right? Yeah. Yeah, he's rolling Holland. Yeah, Bob Bay had two. And then, and then Messi had the hat trick. There was just crazy bet that somebody put out there. I sent the tag to the group chat, um, yeah, betting a book, betting the book. Yeah, I think I fall. Yeah, he had a 300. Yeah, it was like almost 10 grand for a hundred. Yeah, the guy put 180 bucks down and ended up winning like whatever it was, like, like 45 grand or something crazy. Um, and, uh, for those three guys that have, you have at least two goals each. Yeah, he hit it out of the park. Yeah, it gets the superstars going. Everybody's talking about it. Like, it's the tons on the broadcast, carving that another American broad. So yeah, I've been reading. I've been reading. It's Alexi Wallace that he's just like, basically, like, buddy, get away from me. No, I think that's left hands actually playing it well. I'm, listen, man, I would always root for the French, because like, my, all my mother was raised in Belgium. Just like all the France, whatever, like, Canada wasn't even in the World Cup at the time. But I feel like Belgian Belgium. Why not root for Belgium? Uh, I don't know. I just, because they weren't really a powerhouse. It was just easier like, you know, your French. I'm, well, I'm not, I'm not from there either. Right. So I'm, I'm Canadian. Canada didn't have a team in the World Cup at the time. And France was like unreal. I think they might have won it when I was like, when Terry Henri was there. I feel like Henri's been a bit of a, like, a little bit more obnoxious about carving that guy, even though like, if he's just kind of like rolling his eyes nonstop, it's like, hey, have a little bit more fun with it. Like, I feel like it's LaTon's having rather than Henri being a little bit more of like kind of like a serious douche. Belgium has that, the brewing guy that plays for Man City. He's sick. I think Belgium's always been pretty good. Um, but it seems like France and Spain are the two. Oh, I guess Argentina won the last one. I thought mess. I didn't even know if Messi was still playing in World Cup after the last one. He gets a hat trick in the first game. So obviously the MLS hasn't slowed him down at all. Yeah. Sixth World Cup he's played in 38 years old. Yeah, still still looks awesome out there. And that England, Croatia game is awesome as well. If you caught that one last night, I went, you know, Yeah, England and I pull up pulling off what for two. Yeah, it was, yeah, it was a one goal game down. And then they got one. I think I might even have an extra time when they got the fourth goal, but very entertaining. I'm loving the Ronaldo drama and the fact that like, it seems like it seems like they just want them on the bench and they want to roll without them, but it's Ronaldo so you can't. I don't know if he's still the same like player. I don't think he's the same player. And so now it's like, are you even better without him? Or does he come in late? Did he start their game and play? He couldn't have played the whole game. I think so. Yeah, I'm not sure if he started, but yeah, he got the yanked him. They yanked him. And after they were like congratulating the other team at the end when they were shaking hands, he kind of just stood off to the side like a sour plus. Oh, he's such a fucking sour plus. I can't stand him. Like we mentioned before, you know what though, this term has been great for not just North America, but for the United States business. It almost feels like this is like perfect time. And it was just sort of like serendipity that, you know, the world's been a fucked up place lately. And you know, just been a lot going on. We'll leave it at that. And I don't I think America is reminding all our visitors like, you know, we're good host and we're happy to have you. And you've just been seeing it everywhere, where it's down Texas with the Netherlands, a down Mexico city with the Koreans and the Mexican. It's just like, I don't know, man, I just haven't seen this much like global kinship in a long time. I agree with you. And it's like, it goes back to the saying, like it's not as bad as they should portray it on TV. They're just trying to get your emotions going. It's fucking it's a joke. It goes back to the CBC in the way that they portray America. I'm a Canadian and it drives me absolutely nuts. Like when my parents say, my parents say like, oh, like maybe we're not going to come down to the States this year. Like it doesn't seem that safe. I'm like, mom, I live in fucking Scottsdale. There's nothing going on here. You're going to see more crack Coons as Army calls them hanging out and in downtown in Canada. Then you will hear in the States like or any other bullshit going on. So it's kind of like, it's just a complete fabrication in most cases. Yes, do certain countries have their issues. Absolutely. United States is a beautiful country. And there's a lot of amazing things about it, including Canada as well. It's absolutely shit on the news. Like the Mexico games in Mexico look wild. I was watching yesterday in Toronto. Look great. All right. I feel like you're primed for showing up to the Scotland Morocco game tomorrow night. Did you look into tickets? I didn't look into tickets. I have no idea what the price prices are right now. I mean, if someone said he called me up and had a ticket, I would definitely jump all over it. I mean, I'm assuming even face value has got to be crazy. I mean, I know I know what they were charging in right now. It's like, yeah, you know, I would definitely go on a happy. But you probably got to leave today because the traffic. I just get out of there with the trains and people couldn't get who was on whatever. But I would be down for it. 100%. But Morocco. So that's I guess that's a tough test for Scotland. I mean, seeing these fans, it's hard not to root for Scotland to get out of their groups somehow. I honestly would I don't ever remember like this scenario embossed them before where I think that said there's almost like 30,000 Scots in town where they just sort of have a journalized the city. Like I've never seen everyone is going out to go with they like, you know, cop slide whether the cop went on that slide at city call a million miles an hour. So I went out Saturday night walked around in the cops were wicked cool. They were just letting people hang out, you know, because bars were open at three o'clock or a lot of them. And they were like three, 4,000 people just hang out of the cops. I know and drink and smoke just hanging out chilling. It was just like just like it's just a vibe in the city that I can't remember the last time it's been like that. So it's good stuff, man. It's all good stuff all over the place. So let's see my classic recommendation for this week. And Netflix, the big Lebowski, the Stone of Classic, the Cohen brothers, basically a mistaken identity comedy classic Jeff Bridges, John Goodman Steve Bushemi. Now when I first started back in the 90s at the theater, I didn't get it right away. It's one of those ones. The more you watch it, the more you happen. The first time I watched it was like, I can't stand this movie and then the big Lebowski. Yeah, I don't know. It was a long time ago. I was just like, uh, like, you know, the scene when he's like up in, up in the air, like levitating. It was just kind of goofy. But the more I've watched it, it's hilarious. Yeah, I mean, what's the actor's name? Who plays the bowler? Who's he's hilarious? Oh, John tutorial. Yes. The dirt back. Yeah, the dirt back. Who the guy would licks the ball, Jesus. Yeah. Yeah. But yeah, it's one of those ones. Like I said, it's a cult classic. It grows on you more and more. You know, John Goodman, absolutely hilarious. And it just like an unhinge Vietnam veteran in his shoe. That's in my top 10 rotation. Like all at least watched that like one or two times a year. Okay. The big Lebowski. Yeah, good, good stuff. A couple of Netflix recommendations. I watched the other night. It just hit last week off. What the fuck is this? Clearly you're not a golfer. Market Donnie. It was called office romance with JLo and Brett Goldstein. He's the dude from, um, he plays Roy Kent on Ted Lasso. He actually co-wrote this movie. And, you know, I don't really watch a lot of romance. The comedy is these days. I threw it on the other night when my cousin said it was pretty good. And honestly, it's way better than the average romance. The comedy. I know JLo kind of made her bones with those movies back. She had 20 something years ago, but it was it was pretty witty. It was funny. It's a little ranch to it too. I like to say if you're looking, even if not necessarily a girlfriend or whatever. But if you just want to watching pretty good, uh, Romeo, the comedy office romance. I enjoyed that. Uh, if you shop in Netflix as well, some about Mary, another class of comedy. If you'd never saw that. That's a good one. The hilarious one. I mean, I don't think I ever saw a theater laughed that much. Like when I saw it, I actually saw a sneak preview biz. Uh, like before it came out and then it was so glad to have fun. I brought my friends two nights later. I started like twice in three days. And I don't think I ever saw a theater laughed that much. What's the most you ever saw one particular movie in the theater? Um, only three that I can remember. Uh, I did a three-banger. Yeah, I saw good fellas three times. I saw a stand by me three times, but I don't think everyone four, four times. Of course, you know, once, you know, I was kind of VHS or VCS. You know, you can watch it at home and not have to like pay $10 or whatever. Did you ever, but did you ever double dip with? No, I never one time. No, never even considered it. Really? I don't think you think we're crazy. I have a tough time watching a movie like at all closely to the time I first watch it again. Do you get it? You know what I'm saying? Yeah, I have to see him. I have to have not seen a movie for a while to watch it again. Interesting. Yeah. I went and saw a man on fire three times in the movie theaters with probably within like a 10-day span. But obviously the dens L one, right? Denzel. No shit, huh? With that. Who's the girl? She was excellent. Oh, I'm fanning. of fanning, the code of fanning. Yeah, yeah, it was actually a really trade you her life for your life. Did you just did you used to sneak into movies biz when you were young? Really? No, then so I guess then I never snuck into three movies in one day. That's that's my crack of a sneak in it. Okay, so you okay, so you would be in the theater and then you would just bounce over to another movie. Yeah, like you would you would kind of map. No, I know, I was that. No, like, yeah, 11 to 12 years old. Yeah, you see, all right, this one's playing at one, this one's playing at three, this one's playing at five and go one to the other after, yeah, I'm staying from another one, staying from another one. All right, that's how I already became a janitor. He would pretend he was a janitor there just like buzzing around scoop up popcorn and then just watch the movie. Another one I want to mention, do you ever see chef with John Favreau in real movie? Great flick. Yeah, basically, he's having some business issues or whatever. He's that's a food truck. Oh, yeah, I saw that. Yeah, and you're like watching a poem, mate, mate, mate, make you a little horny, watching chef make you hungry hungry up bass to do because all the the way they filmed all the food stuff. So that and now one, we have a hot Latina wife in that one, or ex wife. So fear of a guy, right? I think. Oh, yeah, it was, it was his ex and then he brings his kid on the food truck. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's good stuff. And one last one, 1982, great comedy with Dustin Hoppen, Tutsi. He plays a frustrated actor who basically decides to like dress up as a woman so he can get more roles. Again, this is 1982, but it's like, it's still like, I never last in comedy. What's the word evergreen? It's still hilarious. Great cast, Jessica Lang, all kinds of funny people. But yeah, I think it was nomadive of a best picture back on the day. Might even one for right. But Dustin Hoppen, Tutsi, give that a world if you're looking for something else. And yeah, you don't think that might be about it. Actually, we'll do one. All right, Hamilton, the rap by pale. I got to get going here, but what's buddy? All right, Hamilton. All right, well, this is easy. Since it was just national mascot day, this is from Godorino 77. If every NHL mascot got drafted into a battle royal, who's the bet in favorite and who's getting eliminated first? This is right. It's really stabbing you to death. Gritty's the favorite. I mean, he's definitely the truck because he's an animal. And I mean, is Bowie gonna last? Is Bowie gonna be? No, he's a crackhead. He can't do anything, right? Yeah, runs something soft. I think all my answers would have a lot to do with it. I'm curious to know does, does, does chance the, the, the, the, he the monster? Are they poisonous? Yes, yes, one of the very few poisonous lizards out there. Yeah. So we can just bite you and it's game over. He would probably be at the top of the list. And you know, Pinky and the Brain would be there. Fucking cooking up some deals in the background to get a more help from other mascots. Um, well, as we wrap it up, the final thing is just heartbreaking. And, and that's the passing of Kyle Calder. Uh, Greece as everyone knew him. Incredible guy. I was lucky enough to play with him in Anaheim. That was his last year playing in the NHL. His daughter put out a post. I think that was the first time anyone even saw. I, I had saw that he was sick and it says it was a, it was an illness. I don't really know what happened, but an unbelievable person. Army knew him very well. They trained together in the summers and army was, he was crushed by this news. And it's, uh, it's really hard to talk about guys that are so young that, you know, I played with a lot of guys at the chance to play on these beloved by his teammates. He was living in Chicago. I know he's coaching his son's team at one point and it's just horrible. We saw him when we're out in Chicago. Um, remember, we were at that speakeasy we ran into Greece. Winter classic a few years ago. Winter classic and just getting to catch up. Who was awesome. Funny guy and great player. It's just that was horrible news to see. And um, it's, it's tough. He's, he's just so young, so young and family, his kids, it just heartbreaking stuff. So I wanted to mention Kyle Calder at the end of this and rest in peace and we're taking of his family and everything right now because um, you know, you, you, you, you find out alumni past. It's such a young age and it's like, God, every one of these hits you harder than, than the one before. It's just brutal, brutal news. So kind of a tough way to end the show, but, um, I love getting the chance to get to know him a little bit that year in Anaheim. Awesome person. It's just sucks.
