Yes, similar incredible games, but it wasn't like that in game three, Edmonton, Florida. And I'll tell you right now, we're witnessing history game after game after game. And I can't believe it. And my favorite part personally is the city of Toronto. They didn't even make the playoffs. And it's like worse than when they watched their team lose a 2-0 lead to the Panthers last year. So incredible stuff. Saturday night, as Meme says, is going to be amazing. It was a movie. It was a movie. And it was an unreal movie because it was over in the second period. I went to the shower. After the second period, I went to the shower. I was going to like a bar mitzvah party afterward. And I'm like, oh, this is done. So I might as well just like stop watching the game. I figured we could just assess the first two periods. I come out of the shower with the towel around me. It's fucking 4-3. The group chat's buzzing. And Merles, were you in Stockholm at the time? So kind of nice, though, that you didn't have to watch the intermissions, right? Like you could just go right back to gameplay. And then you thought. Because this is a complete drumming. It's 6-0 Vegas. It's 6-0 Vegas, basically. Now, they weren't goals, and they were perfectly reviewed. It was offsides. Offsides review, I can't stand. But that's the rule. It was offsides. The second one, I couldn't believe Anderson didn't get taken out of the game. Oh, I know. But all of a sudden, the third period starts. I don't know what Vegas was. Like, I don't want to give Carolina all the credit because they played phenomenal. But Vegas, even towards the end, he goes, second period's the best period of our playoff. Third period, I don't know what we were doing. Is that an example of them being like, this thing's done? Like, we just watched the greatest six-minute and 30-second span a hockey player's ever had in Stanley Cup final. In playoffs. Quickest hot trick, right, ever? Yeah. In the Stanley Cup. We saw the quickest. Quickest hot trick ever. We saw two goals taken off the board. We saw two own goals, including the double overtime winner. But in the third period, I don't really know what happened. Like, I was on Wake Up Barstool. Neither do I. I was scrubbing my nuts. I was on Wake Up Barstool today, and Portnoy said, he's like, could you even score three goals in 39 seconds if it was five on just a goalie? Think about it. 39. How would you? I feel like we used to do that as a drill sometimes, and you had trouble scoring three on O. Yeah. And they got, I don't get how it happened. I don't understand, like, where it went for Vegas. Like, they were trying to get too cute. Like, Stone had, like, a half break where he took a slap shot. And what was the play? The backdoor play. Smith to Dorofeev. The worst play in the history of the Cup Finals. They were just getting too cute. And it's like, you got to step on that. And he elected to shoot it. And he kind of, like, on the ice. You know, and I think Cole Smith might have set a record for hits in a play. Yeah, he's been a machine. That's his role. Like, he's doing his job. And his role is not to be, like, looking off a goalie and dishing it through the crease. But he's like, oh, he's trying to ransom. Oh, he shoots it short side. It actually was a pretty good shot. Dorofeev stick cocked, and he's like, what the? He's still standing there right now. He couldn't believe it. And I was like, oh, my God. He poked a guy in the top deck's eye out. Oh, my God. That's how high his stick was waiting for that. And then was it Shea Theodore? He flipped it out. Now, that's a question where. I love the high flip. And early in that game, there was a bunch of high flips. Oh, yeah. High flip creates fits. I love. I think the high flip. I actually, last episode, I didn't even mention. We were talking about how good it is. It's hard. Okay. So why it's hard is. I whiffed on it all the time. Okay. So let's explain to the normal casual why it's so hard. When you're doing it in practice, there's nobody taking runs at you. You're not worried about getting hit. There's nothing, like, on the line, actually. You're just simply practicing, like, a nice, a really soft high flip. you keep like pretty pretty light hands well sometimes in games when you got a guy breathing down your neck you kind of stiffen up or you like rush the cadence and that's when you see them like flub and not go anywhere and or sometimes you really get a hold of one with a flick of the wrist and you saw what theodore did where some guys are so good at it like pumps punts too far like some guys even on the kill like derrick morris like he would clear the puck from in his own end all the way over the glass on the far end which would be another delay a game i've seen people hit the jumbotron you're like whoa dude that one got away from you yeah that that's obviously not a penalty but that's why it's so hard to do like certain guys i mean marner can do it on his back he's unbelievable yeah like doing the high flip and making sure you have the right cadence on it to punt it and the fact that if it doesn't go anywhere the d-man on the on the blue line is just going to grab it and keep it in and then you're and then you're hemmed in um i think that if we don't mention what brayden mcnab did so i call i want to label it the eminem game the marner and mcnab okay he had two assists he now has five assists in this series he played over 34 minutes people wanted to be able to go full cage on i think he said he hadn't worn a full cage since before the whl yeah what was he 16 15 years old i think more impressive than mcnab is the doctor the guy i walking in i'm like did he i don't even did he even get hit in the face but then once you got close up you could tell and it was jagged it was almost like his nose was like falling off and he had covered up his face we never saw it i guess he's probably going to go into the exact injury when the series is over but to show up the way he did they're yelling warrior warrior at him after the game apparently when he walks in the room he's one of the three stars theodore's obviously one of the stars scoring the game winner they're hugging the other partners forever i i think it would be your old boy that you ran out of to mitchell marner so mcnab i guess no question about that he was he was getting this done i mean he said he woke up and felt good but i think well he's from sask you just have to be a little bit tapped in the brain to be able to like play through that like you you mouth breathing is a whole different element like like typically the ends you would know yeah are you a mouth breather no i'm saying like describe it playing 30 minutes where like all of a sudden like your your nasal breathing breathing's taken away from you from a game where you're used to like the way that you take in oxygen throughout a performance yeah even if you're sick and have like a stuffy nose it's brutal never mind if your nose is like i can't go in and i do it i got the sniffles yeah but if you're used to breathing out of your nose out in your mouth out your nose and then you can't do that you're playing 36 minutes and i only saw the one time it was hall's goal like the puck kind of got lost and it's from having the cage on yeah he kind of lost the puck a little bit and halls he ended up scoring that was the only blunder i saw with him he got him back though yeah he did oh my god having that mask on is a nightmare when you have to look down when you haven't worn one in so long like the fact i mean he made some great plays too absolute warrior that guy is i cannot believe i can't believe because he's a western leaguer that he played you know it's a bad injury because i saw a quote from him and he said something or somebody said i don't know what it was 20 or 30 stitches when the doctor just loses track he's just trying to get it yeah dogs we've seen the first three games with us now streaming i'm guessing we get a one nothing 18 to 16 shot game i'm really hoping that's not the case but we ruin everything we touch but back to this game but i gotta say like the first period i thought carolina was way better yes they were good early again and i did not like i'm a vegas guy i did not like the line changes i i didn't like how they moved stone up there i thought i thought they weren't the same team i liked how stone and hurdle they were effective and eichel can carry dorothea van barth yeah but sometimes sometimes the coaches i've noticed are doing it more as a reboot like carolina's done it a few times carolina's been in a blender the whole series yeah they have but sometimes they'll do it and then go right back to it after like two three shifts right so i don't know maybe sometimes it's just like a like a little wake-up call and then you and then you put it and or maybe it's a coaching tactic to throw off the other team a little bit like where like they're kind of like oh what's going on over there and the next thing you know they're right back to normal so hey something hey it obviously worked because second period they came out with their dicks out with the what's what's the dick pill we use now uh rugia how could i forget how could i forget in puerto rico never forget that one so what do you oh yeah okay so you brought you brought it we're gonna get another one it starts off hurdle gets another one eichel with an incredible pass now marner had the second assist on that didn't really notice it but fine fine marner started his night off and the secondary says the whitney assist as some people may call it and eichel finds hurdle i don't know if you look back at what chatfield was doing chatfield was it looked like he was covering the half wall guy on the opposite side i don't really understand and now granted they have a great pk hurdles wide open buries it then the marner show begins now the the breakaway was it mcnab staying aggressive inside the blue line that kept it alive he made the pass over i think somebody missed a high flip like you just talked about yeah they did okay they fumbled the high flip and mcnab was all over it sniffing it and he's coming down right down the middle made a great play over to marner and then we see i don't even see him take a slap shot in toronto but he's busting down the wing bro he's taking more bossy coming out of the wing posting it and i'm like this is the most incredible thing i've ever the hardest slap shot goal of all the playoffs apparently as far as miles per hour no you must have read something wrong somebody's trolling you that was the hardest shot goal of the playoffs like the jarvis one-timer even wasn't harder i think he's i think you read this on the like some ridiculous no i think i spuddy that all these crazy stats are coming out but somebody also tweeted that he's kind of got that classic 80s clapper where it's just like it's it's a it's like a very like slow cadence but fuck that he gets some pretty good wood on that thing and it's almost like a twisted wrister because of how like how the cadence is going i save right here but after that i was like this guy well that locked up the cons my the most goals he ever had in one playoff with toronto was three he had three and six god damn but it's now in the second period of a cup final again and i'm like what are we how is this happening so between a player yeah between 2019 and 2025 he had 10 total playoff goals with the toronto maple leafs and he's got the same amount in this playoff review and he now has the most points for a vegas goal night player ever ever in one playoff ever so yeah he's locked up the cons might if they win only only minus 200 if you want to go on draft games so yeah i think he gets it win or lose i don't know no anderson's done i would say i would say he's done more individually than any other carolina player so i don't like disagree with your take i believe it was before the colorado series he was what 12 to 1 or was that even like a couple games into that series before this series i thought it was like plus 200 right around before the colorado series began he was 12 to 1 to win the cons might and then vegas was still pretty good odds to to end up winning the stanley cup but i think everybody agrees here that he has that thing locked up and they are winning it there's no way they don't win that series now after winning game three it's over buddy i think this has been over since the start like i'm shocked that it's transpired the way that it has that particular loss here's the only way that carolina wins this series if rod the bod has the balls to start bussy in game four i do not think he's going to do it i think that anderson has earned that start in game four my biggest gripe is and i know he's going through a lot is when there's these breakdowns that they are going to have that's inevitable that it's going to happen against vegas and they're going to win those one-on-one battles most of the time when they're getting the grade a it's finding its way in where bussy the way that he skates and he moves he's able to take those quick one-on-ones and like in like short breakaways and even if they get a second crack he battles he's not like already on his stomach where sometimes i find when they're when they're getting the second crack and anderson is in that he's kind of already swimming a little bit and it's a like i think we can all agree up until this point like it was a lot of one and dones and he wasn't tested that much i mean some of these games he was getting 12 15 shots not to say to stay awake and be alert and when you do get that one chance he ends up making the stop i just think vegas is a different beast bussy's been resting i know maybe he fell off in the second part of the season but what i saw in the first half and what i saw getting thrown in cold in that third period which mitch martyr didn't even realize they switched a goalie when he went in for his penalty shot i don't know if you read that you know you're feeling i i i think that's the only way they can come back and win this series so you think you think rod the bod is gonna go with bussy no i don't think he is i think he is i think he is i think he's crazy if he doesn't and and i i did say i used your line uh this morning on the on wake up bars so i said it it no i said um that it's the toughest decision brindamore's maybe ever had ever had in this coach because of what and blotman was that's actually 12 and less than three games he didn't play the third period of game three and with how bussy looked are you saying it's tough because anderson's got him there i i think i think it's tough for a lot of reasons he's been there a while he's the more veteran goalie and if you do make that call and it's the wrong call it's like one thousand percent series over no you're you go back to him at home yeah then you got freddie at home that's fine but i'm going to give you a prime example what type of like what type of playoff runs has carter hart been on in his career i don't believe ever right so he comes back from injury and in that utah series he had a couple tough outings you were calling for his job i wasn't calling for his job i was just saying i can't believe hill hasn't gone in yeah i i the reason that the reason i'm saying that is okay boys he won a cup for him buddy we're talking about a rookie goaltender who went on a hot streak at the start of the year compared to a guy who went on a full playoff run and won a stanley cup with the golden knights and i watched you with my own eyes even against florida like he was making big saves he helped them win a stanley cup he made the saves that he needed to so when you have a goalie who's never been on a playoff run he just got back from injury and he's struggling against a utah team where i don't know if he's going to be able to play a full playoff run if he's going to be able to play a full playoff run he's going to be able to play a full playoff run he's going to be able to play a full playoff run he said you're my guy you're my guy you're my guy and maybe in order for freddie anderson to to steal one he just needs rod to say you're my guy you're going in game four i got the whole world in my ear saying i should start busty based on what we saw in the third period he's fresh and and maybe those one-on-ones and those breakaways he can stop but you're my fucking god okay you gotta start him if It feels like a lot of guys were going down the tunnel. And although both teams got good rest after not playing many games in the third quarter. The third round, the wear and tear is really starting to show. And that's another reason why I favor Vegas big time. Did Chatfield get hurt when they opened the door on him? A little bit, but he got more hurt on just like, it looked like just like a casual hit. I think it was like maybe like midway through the first period. And then he ended up going down the tunnel, but once again came back. So it just seemed like three or four guys went down the tunnel. I was impressed Hall stayed in the game. I thought he collapsed. He's got his lung collapsed by McNabb. Yeah. So what I love about Halsey is I always thought that Halsey was like a, like true, true, honest player where I feel like he's flirted the line perfectly. I was worried it was going to be a bunch of 3-2 and 2-1 games. And they were going to check each other to the ground, and there wasn't going to be much happening. And, like, I couldn't, couldn't be more wrong. It's like, it's nuts the way the games have gone. Every game, somebody scores two goals, somebody gets three goals. Some, you know, what was it, game two, the Carolina was down 3-0, and they get three goals, or 2-0, and they get three goals in the third period. They get four the other night, and I just, I think they're at a point now that this is just the way it is. The way the series is, and it's awesome. It is unpredictable and fun, and it's impossible to keep track of what the hell's going on. It's what, like, in-game, you're like, I saw a highlight after the game, and they showed Hurdle's power play goal, and it was, I was just sitting having a drink after, and I was like, oh, I forgot he scored. Like, that was in the first period. It was like, it was like three days before, and it's every game like that. Ray, that's what I was going to ask. You've been doing this a long time. It's been a long time, and like, just like where the state of the game is, like, you've been between the benches. Like, how much faster is it now, and where the speed of the game is at, and obviously it's really translating as far as the ratings and people, like, falling in love with the game of hockey. I think the difference now, like, even, you know, it's been 10 years that it started to get faster and faster and faster, but now the guys that you wouldn't think could be fast are fast, and they all make it. They all make a play, and they're, so there's no, like, of course, there's the top-end guys that are just, they're just so good, but I'm watching these fourth lines play, and they're going, they go a million miles an hour. The other, the Vegas fourth line the other day had 24 hits, and so, like, Cole Smith, like, Cole Smith, a year is a lot longer than that. Cole Smith had 14 hits. Yeah. So, like, they're, everything is so fast, and I don't know how anybody can't turn this on and go, even if they don't quite understand the details, but go, man, this is awesome. How physical and fast, and now there's lots of goals, too, and I thought it was going to get a little chippier at some point. It hasn't, and now I think that's gone. Like Bussey stopped Marner twice. By the way, how did Marner not? I was going to ask you if you would realize that they switched goalies and usually somebody up top gives you the heads up. He was that dialed, Ray. I think he was just that into it. You know what's crazy about that is that he already had a chance in the period. Right. Like he turned around and took like a quick little stopper and Bussey stopped it with his arm. Like at some point you would have noticed they catch the different hand. Right. The only worry might be that like hopping into that game with no pressure is so different than preparing all day as the starter. So that's maybe going through Rod's mind, but your job between the benches. So biz has done it. Our guy army does it a good amount. It's so cool for you because you're, you're hearing and seeing things. Nobody else gets to hear or see. Now, when they make it for two and specifically for three, you got to be saying like, how is he not called timeout? Right? Like what is their bench like at that point? Vegas, pretty calm. I said, I go, I I'm really surprised they're not using a timeout because it happened so fast. Right? It was 39 seconds and porch just let it roll. And, and, or are you talking about Carolina? No, no, no, you're right. You're bang on what you're talking about. When Vegas, all of a sudden it's like, why isn't he calling timeout? I thought four, two is when he should have done it. I, when the third one went in, I thought, Holy, like they got, they got to slow this thing down here. And I don't recall the time on the clock. Cause you might've been looking at it and going, you know what? I'm going to get a commercial time out here. And, in a minute or two, I forget when the, the timing of the goals was, but I thought he was going to call time. There's, there's no panic ever really on Vegas's bench. It's a, I would say it's a pretty calm, probably veteran bench. There's more energy. And I think part of it comes from Rod on Carolina's bench because, you know, man, he's marching a hole in the, in the bench behind the player. He's gone to dust back and gives out a workout. Hey, he's like his gum, just abusing it. But there is, um, there's very little stuff between the benches. Like no, but there's no barking or anything. And, um, which kind of surprises me a little bit, but Carolina doesn't really have that. You know, they don't, they don't have that way about them. They don't, they're not like a chirpy team or anything. I feel like, I feel like that's like the one thing that Marner's, he's emphasizing the most is like, especially in these like comeback wins or, or, you know, late game heroic type things. And he's saying like, we're just a veteran group. We don't turn on each other. We never get too high, never get too low. And, and I, I don't know if these are little nuggets along the way of maybe things were in Toronto and the fact that sometimes on the bench they would, but completely, uh, different scenarios from teams. Yeah. I, I thought like, you know, of course, Marner's getting other, you know, so much recognition as you should, but, but like in Toronto, none, none of those guys had won. And so they're all looking at each other and somebody's trying to lead and they're all trying to lead and they don't maybe know how to do it. And you go to Vegas and they've pretty much all won. And so he doesn't have to lead, even though he is right now, he doesn't have to, there is, there's just something different pretty clearly about the teams. And I would say Toronto never had as good a team as Vegas has. No. Yeah. I think maybe that's why, yeah, he didn't, he doesn't, he didn't call the timeout cause he doesn't want to put that panic in them. So maybe that was part of it, but I want to jump in Ray and ask you about the, the crowd noise on, on each arena. Are they the same? Is one louder than the other? What are you seeing outside the arena with the, with the pregame festivities, all that stuff? Carolina's like Carolina is Daphne. Yeah. And it's, and it's noise from like, it's not pumped in. It is. That place is wild from the, you know, you guys have been there, right? And you, you drive in and first of all, they're, they're doing these rentals there and outside the building. And so I assume at some point they're going to have a different way of coming into the rink. But right now I used to know the number, it's something like 2,700 of those orange traffic cones that they lay out every day. So the cars come in, it's like, it's like a county fair and you just like get into your line and you it's, and then as you're driving, you're driving in like for like acres, it's people that are tailgating like hours. We get there. I think we got to talk to the coaches like at 5:15. So three hours early and the place is packed. It's jammed and you get in and it, no, it's so loud. Vegas, they pump the noise in a little bit outside. You know, we get in early. So we're in there at 2:30 for a five o'clock game, two o'clock. It's so fricking hot. Nobody's nobody's standing outside there until later in the day. And then that plaza right outside the rink is jammed. Like it's packed and it, so this is, but out of sheer noise, Carolina is as loud as any building that I've been in. And they can give it to the officials there. That was the one thing I noticed too, if they don't like, sometimes it's like, come on guys, that wasn't a call, but like half of them are on their feet being like, call that motherfucker. And they don't, they're like, they're like a NASCAR crowd. They're, they're, they're ferocious even talked about. They went tarps off in game two, all of a sudden everyone took their shirt. Yeah. What was that about? Was that like homage to what's going on in the MLB? No, they, they threw it up on the board, you know, when they come back with tarps off and all of a sudden there's like these guys and you know, it starts off fine. And then pretty soon you're seeing some people with their shirts off that you're like, Ooh, that shouldn't be taught. Any taught ties, right? No, none, zero. No, not them. Cause you know, biz, cause you were, you would have been the guy at the end of the bench. Like, yeah. Colas are is a little bit where the backup goalie sits. Yeah. You know, guys are, guys are scanning and they're, you know, you see what's over there and it's just a bunch of fat guys and beggars can't be choosers. Yeah. But you thought it's awesome. Is there, I'm not picking or having so much fun, like in that building, it's so fun. Like it's, it's, I don't know. It's just a different feel than they said. It's full concrete too, which like radiates the noise even louder. I don't know. It's a smaller building that could be like another rumor, like the Marner slop shot. No, but I heard you say on the broadcast that even maybe even a little louder than Edmonton from when you guys were in the finals two years ago there, which is crazy because that place was wild. But we said, all right, so Vegas comes back in game one, but it was an early deficit after the Ehlers goals. After that, it does seem that Vegas is the better team, right? And Merle's has been saying Vegas in five. He thinks this thing done biz thinks it's done. Do you, do you think it's over? And would you say that bag is over? All's a better club. Like from what you've seen through three games? Um, I don't think it's over. Um, because I now here we are each game's one goal. However, we got there. They're all one goal. I think if you went down the lineup and you had to pick this player from Vegas or this player from Carolina, eventually you'd have more players from Vegas. Like I think they're, I think they're on paper, they're a better team. There is Carolina as a team. man, they've They've just brought in the players that fit their system. They fit the way whatever a Carolina hurricane looks like. They fit. They don't have any outliers. I look at like Eric Robinson and Jordan Martinuk and who's the other one? Oh, Will Carrier. Like if you didn't know what those guys looked like and you switch their jerseys, could you even tell the difference? They go like a hundred miles an hour. They all have four or five hits every game. They all got 12 goals this year. Like it's crazy. And I'm like, they have the right people for them. Now, if I do think it's over, if like, I thought Svechnikov played his best game of the series, but Aho, Svechnikov, Jarvis, Ehlers again, like he scored in game one. But those guys, I thought early in the series that those four plus Stankoven and Blake, like they've got to get into the middle of the ice. If they don't, they don't score. You can't have a double overtime game that Aho and Stankoven don't have a shot. That's like the worry. Like how do those guys not get a shot on net in that game? That's crazy to me. Aho, I find gets pushed out a little bit. Yeah, he does. And he's looking always to play make. Yeah. But I think sometimes he's got to say screw it and dive right into the middle because he's going to open something up. And it hasn't happened. And it hasn't. He's got 10 points, but it's not. I think he's got four goals. Two of them at least are empty netters. Yeah. They need more. It can't be as unbelievable a final as it is. They can't think Jordan Sculls is going to score every game. No. And then he's been amazing. As far as Aho looking to delegate and make that play, I feel like Svechnikov is also looking to do that where he's kind of supposed to be the big, powerful guy on that line. And he hasn't done that. And going back to Stankhoven and Blake, like you saw in these other series where they didn't really have a hard time getting to the middle. For whatever reason, you could talk about Vegas's size, their structure, how they play, how they protect the house. You just you watch and it's like they're never getting to the inside with the puck. And that's why I think that most of us agree that Vegas is just a better team and that they're going to win this series. I think it's going to come down to that. Like, can at some point those guys become really involved? Yeah. And if I were coaching Svechnikov, I'd show him that video of the goal he scored where he was on his face and he's right in front of the net. Yeah. Because he's a monster, man. That guy is big. And I thought by far game three was his best. So maybe he's starting to come along, but he has to. They're not built to have like. Dorofeev has not been a. No. I haven't noticed him. Not at all. And. Yet it's okay. They've flipped the lines and they move Mark Stone up with Eichel. And Carolina doesn't have that luxury. When they flip the lines, they move Martinuk up with Svechnikov and Ajo. I mean, that's not the same as moving Mark Stone up there. Yeah. And so I think the margin for Carolina is way, way thinner. Ray, you played over 1,200 games and I'm sure played through a lot of injuries. That injury to McNabb, him playing through that, him playing 36 minutes last game. What do you have, two assists? Like, he's been incredible, but like, how much credit do you give for him just going out there and not being an absolute warrior? I couldn't. First of all, I couldn't believe he walked in and he looked as good as he did. Like, is this. What's his face made out of? Like, I thought is the way that you guys saw the still photo too. Oh, yeah. Like, man, like, so they put his nose back together there and, you know, which is crazy. Humpty Dumpty. Good plastic surgery bag. And he's like, yeah, 20. You know how it is. Everybody's been stitched. He's like, yeah, 25, 30 stitches. You don't even know. After a while, you're like, just get me off this table. Right? Like, it sucks. And when they introduced him, like, I thought it was really cool that the arena, like, recognized what was happening. Like that, I. The only one I can remember getting, and it was louder, but was when Zidane O'Chara broke his jaw in Boston. Game seven, right? And he freaking played. Yeah. Like, and so the place thundered when he came out. And, but what McNabb did. And so, first of all, like, the guys are probably just stoked, right? Like that he's, he's even going to try. And then halfway through warmup, it was pretty clear he was going to play. And then he plays the way he does because it's not, those aren't easy minutes, right? He's, he's still blocking shots. He's still, every time he runs into somebody, it must feel terrible. Right? Because his head had to be like, had its own. Heartbeat. And he, I thought he was awesome. He's got five points. Well, that's what's hurting him too. After all these celebrations, I see guys coming and shaking his head. I'd be like, get away from me, guys. Give me the low. Really? Oh. Like he's such like a perfect player. Nobody looks, honestly, I say this quite often about him. Nobody looks more like an unmade bed. He's a beer leaguer. It's unbelievable. An unmade bed. It's not like his kids made. It's not his knob. Like watch how he skates off the ice too. He holds his stick straight up in the air. Yeah. Why does he do it? To show off the nominations. He does it. No, I used to do that. It's because somebody told me, so you don't play the puck and your guys are aware that you're coming off the ice. I, I, it was a habit from you. He's so good. Um, and he comes, he comes in, you know, he's in his suit, his hair's all over the place. Um, got no hair. I think the other day, the other day, our, our audio guy, he did an interview after the second period and our audio guy, you know, has to put the headset on him. He comes back and he's like, he is so sweaty, sweatiest player ever. I'm like, of course he is. He's like an unmade bed that got pissed in. He's working twice as hard as everybody else. He's skating his groins, his back. Yeah. Actually, can I ask him one more? Yeah. I got one more too for him. How would you summarize what's going on with Marner? Like this whole, like the last, you know, 12, 14 months. Oh, all of it. Um, well, he clearly had decided. It was time to go and, you know, he said there'll be a time when he'll talk about it. Why? But, um, clearly just the all encompassing way his life was in Toronto. He just needed and wanted another start. And he isn't contractually obligated to stay in one city for his whole life. He got to be a free agent and he gets to the side. And so if he would have had, if he would have had 80 points like he did this year in Toronto. Would that have been a good year? No chance. No, right. It would have been a disappointing year. It would have been the team, the team would have been better if he was there. But, um, it, it, it was time for his change and he comes out here. He gets to, you know, hide a little bit. I'd say, you know, you get, it's an easier way out here and it's not to blame the media. It's just in Vegas, it's not all encompassing. It's not, there's 8 billion things going on here and. Then halfway through the year, he plays center because they don't have any centers. Carlson gets hurt and he does that. Well, like he, he's a great player, but this right now, this is the, these are the greatest moments of his career. Yeah. And, and now there's, I'm sure he feels every day when he goes to the rank, like there's, there's nothing that can get in his way. Like he is, he's at, he's at the peak of his game at the, his team is a great team. They're now two wins away. And I'm sure he feels like this is like, I'm, I'm right here. Like I'm, I'm right on the, on the edge here. And he's been amazing. He's had an amazing playoff. I bet you, he feels like I knew this was going to happen. Yeah. Like this. came alive so for him i think it's just more of the situation where he's playing with the house's money he's on a team where he doesn't have to be the main focus and and really drive so much of the traffic and if he does have a night off there's three other four other guys uh elevating their play in order to help get the win so other players in toronto too the focus wasn't always on no no no i get that but i'm saying like for there to it was a very narrow focus very narrow focus right because it was this core four core four core four but but it's it's good i'm sure it's like so fun for him now you can see why players are fighting for the game and they're fighting for no trades um and why the teams i think should start pushing back yeah like i think it's crazy that there are players that they're not even in the best five players on their team exactly full no moves like that or 25 no like that's crazy to me um this goes back i think a year ago when larkin said you know i was we were disappointed at the deadline and like now i'll not that it became a problem with with eiserman but it's in your own head now you've already started the seeds of something growing in your own head man if we don't make it next year how many years can i stay i'm 30 years old right you know like you get to this point and you know i mean that's a that's a pretty short list there's also the there's that's also the possibility that eiserman might go yeah you know what there's nobody there like he's not giving dylan larkin away no and so if i look what happens from a player's standpoint do you not then eiserman's like i don't need another pick right he's been building for 10 years the only way that ninth pick works for in my mind the only way that ninth pick works for uh eiserman is if he gets it and he's already got a trade right for somebody for that ninth pick like you know that pick just kind of drives through detroit but it is a that was a stunning thing to read the other day because i mean his whole career right he's he's detroit detroit detroit and now now they got to figure something else out but that's what i look at it more is like the marnus situation where he grew up there he's that's been he's only been in michigan his whole life pretty much and he might be seeing outside right is that we don't know about where you know well you know how good vet uh detroit was for so long and then haven't made the playoffs there for a while so maybe he's just sick and tired and needs a refresh and maybe there was a better way to go about it i don't know than demanding a trade and then giving three yeah so the one i guess the one question i have to you is like are you worried about it turning in too much like the nba and this is no slight on larkin i love larkin's game i actually hope i hope he ends up in minnesota because i think they need him the most but like where do you lie on like what type of player deserves to be like i want to get traded like do you feel like larkin has delivered enough himself to be able to ask for that out of detroit like you you get what i'm saying right yeah yeah i but i don't think there's i don't i don't think there's well maybe there is a baseline but there's going to be guys that might think oh yeah i'm going to go ask to be traded and the manager's going to go beat it like no i'll trade you when i trade you but i i i can't maybe they were getting nowhere in detroit and finally larkin said okay i need to take it to the next wow okay like how would it how would it not be like no he would have gone to eiserman first and if one point too with pavelski do you think like obviously if he's coaching his kids whatever like how does that even come about like how do you think he calls toronto and says i know i wonder like how do they decide a joe pavelski maybe he told his agent hey i'm interested in getting into coaching and people have mentioned while he's coaching his kid it's like well i think his kid's a pretty good player i know he was picked uh ushl draft or something but it's like hey all right if i move to toronto we'll be playing amazing hockey in that area so here's my theory on that is well one he's he's not far removed so there's nothing about hockey in in today's world that joe pavelski is not aware of he he doesn't need that job right he could go do whatever he wants he's made enough money so it's not like he's going to come in with this like type of stress and he's going to be able to communicate to these guys that like they need to be communicated to he was just a former player so i i think that a guy like like that would be a perfect fit for him and he's going to be able to communicate to these like knowing all like and also some of these veteran coaches right like let's use laviolette for an example is he doing individual work with a player like we saw from martin st louis no he's probably just like going on the ice drawing up practice and he's coming in the room and he's telling you this this is what the structures are so to to get one-on-one work one-on-one work from your coach as well as from like the system standpoint to develop younger players like that's what they need especially with how young the nhl is getting so you're stepping on the ice with a young cole caulfield imagine hearing from martin st louis saying hey when i was struggling getting goals in the nhl with my size and how i played these are the areas that i went to and with playing with this guy this is where a majority where the passes were coming through so let's work on you getting it on your backhand here and then quick release there so doing all those little drills and little work with a guy like pavs and along with him coaching because fuck man the systems are the systems everybody's using the same fucking systems right it's not like the only time you ever have structure is off like a face-off for like a play then it's like game on we're playing a 1-2-2 or 2-1-2 with a demon it's all pretty simple shit so i think going to guys are just like closely removed from the game that have hockey sense and have a stature like joe pavelski i have no i don't care if he was fucking coaching mini mites i don't care well he actually he works pretty close with the wisconsin hockey team this past year like he would go into the locker room he would skate with them at practice he gave every guy on the team his phone number and said if you're ever going through a drought you give me a call and i'll talk you through it so he's still been pretty involved in the game i don't think it's about where he's coached it's just him as a player and him how long he played and how similar to stone he was never a burner either and he just scored now if i don't know austin matthews at all personally but i think if you told him hey we could have peter laviolette or any of these guys who've been around forever and coached three or four different teams or joe pavelski whose boys with joe thornton i think all he's like he's like give me yeah give me a guy who i played against who knows the league a little more in terms of like what it's like now and none of these old school coaches which i like like for instance vegas veteran group they don't need to be taught the individual skills they need towards even said that yeah a guy like that he's gonna sit back and fucking you know say what he thinks he needs to say at what time motivate the guys before the game and it's their bench right where a team like toronto even though i mean we just had ray ferraro saying like well matthews has never won nylander's never really won none of these guys have won but also to for for the young guys coming up for someone to relate to someone like teaching the game how is how is peter laviolette gonna say well in this instance when i was struggling with this this is what i did no none of these old coaches know that they just bark the same systems and they have this like demeanor about them because like i mean did laviolette ever win one yeah carolina carolina right yeah 2006 so like like to me like obviously he's a great coach i'm sure he knows all the structures and knows how to like play the lines and and he's seen every situation but he does not have hockey experience that joe pavelski has yep has there ever been a rookie coach to come in and take toronto as their first job uh had sheldon keith coached in the nhl oh that's he was ahl marley so yeah they brought him up from ohl to to marley's there like yeah nhl coach i don't know if that's that was his first gig because that's a top like that your first gig that's a top like it was ron wilson had come from san jose right and i'm not sure if that's randy carla would come from anaheim babcock detroit so i don't know imagine imagine jumbo joe as a coach pavelski would probably well he's working with i'm surprised at some point jumbo joe will be in a front like the guy's obsessed with the game is he augustine and in casa i know unproven we've we always talk about this about these prospects about these prospects like yes i i've watched augustine when when we went to penn state smaller goalie moves really well almost like a jonathan quick type right little undersized he's not built like these big what how tall is he he's got he can't be over six one right and then you have this the other one's enormous enormous so six one six one so you don't want bang on uh two else um little cadence there with my backswing uh but fuck now i lost my train of thought god damn it you're saying no prospect just get a guy you you have to know which one hey you can't miss on that right all of a sudden you you give away larkin you get wallstead he's your starter now you're trading back one of those other guys and or you work out a three-way trade if you're saying all those two young guys we like the way they're marinating we think that they're both going to come up as a tandem you get wallstead maybe you flip him to somebody like fucking buffalo brofsky hasn't signed yet what like florida needs a goalie like maybe you work out a three-way and get a significant piece all of a sudden now you get you do get lundell because florida does need that right like yeah minnesota to me makes the most sense because if you look at that vegas or florida like i don't want to give up lundell who makes half as much as larkin and he's like the perfect third line center you already have your one lateral i think i think larkin's better but it's he is lateral but he's but so what is he going to play more minutes than is bennett now your third line center like it's like but you're paying bennett to be a second line center so to me minnesota makes the most sense and that's that's like that's what they need the most of any of those three teams and i think you you got to get you got to move something to get something and i think wallstead could be that piece and dylan larkin is two l's and lundell's three so you know that's why you don't do the deal either does lundell have a no trade or no move probably that's what yeah like ray was saying everyone has one so i mean that could be an issue too and i like getting the sabers involved there get one of the get get the goaltender get wallstead over to there somehow they and they could give up one of those four left-handed d that they have we're just setting up for madness by the way did we talk about the fact that it came out that the nyes to montreal only didn't go down because it was at 301 that is quote real that kent hughes gave that was all over the internet said if you're not going to win you're not going to win you're not fired you have to honor this trade yeah that was that was that's apparently what he said to tree living now i Imagine if that one came through at four o'clock. I know. We would have gone nuts. Yeah, because that was a tough deadline this year. We didn't get a ton of action. And once again, just continuing to go over this, summer's going to be fucking crazy. And this is the Larkin's part of it, and then there's going to be a couple others that nobody sees coming. Oh, the Kadri one was the late one this year. Kadri came in very late back to call. They just got the cup. Nope. Swept by the fucking Dark Knights themselves. Do you think Larkin telling them before, at least a month before the draft at least, at least he's given them time. I think he's told them prior. That was what I sensed. And now it's public. Wait, what if you send Larkin to Florida for the ninth overall pick and then they, Detroit, then flips the ninth overall pick to Vancouver for Elias Pettersson because Detroit wanted Elias Pettersson. There was the rumors about him wanting. I want to see him in Detroit. That's a good one. And then Vancouver can go full rebuild. You got the first overall pick and the ninth overall pick. I am not touching that contract unless Vancouver eats part of it. They would eat. They have to. If they ate four million and you're getting them as a seven million dollar player, bring them all in. Bring them all in. Now, are they going to eat four million for seven more years? Maybe they get one of the goalies too. I was just going to say, I think that. You have to sweeten it. don't know you guys know it's got that little like two iconic buildings by the river yeah that riverway it's god it's just it's and like even if you're driving along that highway it's just it's like
