A couple of crazy moments from the past few days.
I mean, we chatted Monday.
Long show.
Going to be a little quicker today.
I'm sorry for all you folks listening.
Three hours, that's hard.
You got Game Notes Wednesday.
We're back at you Thursday.
Going to be a little quicker.
Wayno was on Game Notes.
I know.
That's what I wanted to shout out.
The 99th episode.
You got the great one, Murr.
Yeah, that was huge.
Got to shout out Armdog for getting that done,
and then G and Pasha for getting across the finish line.
And yeah, go listen to that.
He's unreal.
His breakdown.
We kind of kept it short on him because he was on vacation,
so we only did a few breakdowns with him,
but he's so smart.
It's incredible.
It must be nice to take a vacation during playoffs, eh, Wayne?
Oh, yeah.
He should be on a private island somewhere.
The fact that he even talks to us is insane.
I know.
He should be on permanent vacation,
and the fact that he still gives back to the game is incredible.
Yeah, yeah, for sure.
And, you know, he comes in.
And now I think it'll be finals.
He was one night so far at TNT, right?
And then he'll definitely be there for the finals.
I think he might have one for, yeah, one for the second round.
Oh, sorry.
You don't have finals.
So he'd be conference finals when you travel.
Conference finals.
We're going on the road.
Blade Gang was loving the pink Whitney.
We got to kind of, we have to hop right into this.
Yeah, we'll have to go into this.
Round of applause, by the way, for Whit.
And Murr.
Well, yeah.
And memes.
Hey, buddy, it was a standing.
Hey, not too many.
It was a standing.
I mean, just a standing.
Just a standing ovation.
Similar to the one Mike Vrabel got from Patriot Season Ticket Holders.
That was just an incredible video.
Patriots fan, we don't care.
We just want wins.
Just done this.
For Mike Vrabel.
I had a standing O coming.
I had the internet, Merle's, and myself on.
I mean, we're on the I-90.
In the most dangerous spot, I-90, apparently.
And we're rollerblading.
Things are all good.
We meet Blade Gang.
And then.
And then.
There was this.
And this thing right here, boys.
This thing buried me.
And for people who aren't watching on Netflix, this is the Saber Sword.
The Saber Sword.
Were you trying to play a video or something there?
I don't know if you heard the church bells, Biz.
There were some disgusting, scary church bells.
Done.
Like Undertaker?
Yeah, but not that Undertaker music, because you don't want to get in trouble.
So I found generic on YouTube, but apparently you guys couldn't hear it.
That's my bad.
Either way, this was the Saber Sword.
The Saber Sword was just.
Now, the video is playing right here.
OK.
I've gone through this a couple of times.
I made the video.
We went out.
And I want to say one thing first off.
The people in Buffalo, those might be the best people in the United States of America.
Like the friendliness.
I didn't know if I'd get chirped.
You know, I figured we were kind of on decent terms, considering they made me look like the fool.
0.0%.
They get in.
They go on this run.
And now I'm kind of going their belly of the beast, as I said, on the highway with Murr.
So everyone was so nice.
Like, oh, wait, thanks for coming.
Like, I'm talking Murr.
The people there were amazing.
And we go on stage and we try to fire them up a little bit.
They were actually pumped up.
They had the clown nose on me on the banner and everything.
I chugged a beer out of this.
Boys, I must have gotten maybe, maybe this much.
I'm talking like one tiny sip of my mouth.
Oh, like a pre-round.
You did it like pre-going into the building.
Yeah, at the Fan Fest.
It was Fan Fest.
And I don't know if there was a video of that.
Meme said he might have had one.
But my.
My jersey that they gave me with the 0.0 number, it was just covered in beer.
And then the guy who was emceeing, it's like, oh, you can't chug out of there.
And then Sabres fans, as I'm taking pictures, walking on.
Oh, you can't chug out of that.
You can't chug out of that.
It doesn't work like the way it's now.
Boys, I really, really wish they hadn't told me that.
Right.
Because I just would have tried it again.
I would have been like, I also want to get ahead of something.
Horkoff called me.
She goes, wait.
Oh, my God.
I've had phone calls from people I haven't talked to in years.
Same.
I've never been a great beer chugger.
He reminds.
I'm not.
I'm not a beer chug guy.
I'm not good at it.
Right.
I'm not one of those pros at chugging beers.
But I would have just tried it again and dealt with the spillage.
Buddy, I had, I don't know, the arm of the pump up arm that was barely moving like a
squiggly arm.
My wife said it was I was one of the blow up things outside a car dealership.
I was dying.
That thing wasn't even work moving.
And then to try not to chug and spill at one point, it's completely horizontal.
Nothing's coming out.
And I'm realizing, like, quickly, halfway through this, I think this is bad news.
Like, this is not like, look, it's not.
What are you doing?
But you got to pour the thing.
You got to pour the thing.
Merle's right.
When I finish, he goes, what the hell was that?
And I'm like, oh, man, this is bad.
This is bad.
Biz, I'll get to you in a second.
I'll get to you right away when I'm done.
OK.
I.
I figured, all right, I'm going to get chirped by some fans, buddy.
I got to ask you, Biz, did you tell TNT to put that on?
How did that make it to TV?
I.
I obviously told them that.
If you were going to be live in attendance, then that anything that happened, just have
a camera on you just in case.
Did I ever think in my wildest dreams that you would have delivered what you delivered?
I was in shock.
And then I saw Portnoy's video.
And then I was laughing my cock off because, you know, he's obviously hilarious.
My question to you, though, with is knowing all that information and then handing you
the saber at the pre-event and then explaining to you how hard it is to chug out of it.
Did it ever cross your mind?
Hey, I'm just going to shot.
I'm going to beer to fire up the crowd without pouring beer into the sword, buddy.
No.
And that's what I'll never get over in my head.
Like, but they gave me the saber is like, man, like, yeah, dude, there was no there
was no expectation from the sabers to use the sword.
No, I don't know.
Merles, we were sitting there and we never even we poured them in advance.
Remember, we poured them in.
Yeah, we wanted to make sure there was no foam.
That was the only thing we were thinking about.
Another thing, too.
It's like I almost think that like holding it closer.
To where it comes out would have been easier because the the amount of distance between.
Yeah, like like that.
And then it wouldn't have created the visual of like holding holding a dick and balls either.
You know, like that's another good call.
But now listen, I hate to rag on you.
Hey, buddy, this is one thing where if you can't own up to just looking like a fool and
just take the piss, like what are you doing on the Internet?
Boys like this is life.
Now, all your all the things you brought up.
Listen, I'm sitting on the flight home.
I got no Internet on the flight home.
It's just one of those like, you know, you're just going through everything.
What what what was I thinking?
And I didn't I didn't think anything.
What we were kind of thinking was we need Buffalo to not give up a goal before I go up on the on the big screen.
Oh, yeah, that's a bummer.
They didn't.
They scored.
Not only did they score, they got the penalty kill, too.
So they scored a goal and they got a penalty.
They got the penalty kill.
We got through that.
I'm like, oh, my God, this this place is a perfect situation.
Yeah, it's like I'm going on.
And yeah, like there's not much else to say besides an all time fuck up an all time clip.
Um, and, and sometimes, you know, you're, you're, you're flying high and buddy, you
life's like a roller coaster, right?
Like, we had that day, Murr.
We had that day dominated.
And it ended up not only with my embarrassment,
but a loss for the Sabres.
That was the biggest part.
Because I said sitting in the seat,
once this thing's going viral, that's the other part.
There's like, you couldn't, Twitter wouldn't really load,
and then it would load.
It was like, you know, you're in a stadium,
and it's just not working very well.
But I'm seeing this thing going mega viral.
I'm like, I got to get to make a, I got to address this.
Memes is like, if you go on the concourse,
the internet's a little better.
And I'm sitting there after with Murr, I go,
they have to win.
If they win, this thing's a non-story.
Well, it's a story.
It's a funny clip, but it's not a big deal.
They lose.
We're riding this thing.
I go, when's the next game?
Don't tell me it's two days.
He goes, it's two days.
Oh, so this just kind of, this is, I mean,
this is bigger than the Rable story at this point.
Murr, after that happened, you're like, hey, man,
like, what the fuck was that?
Like, obviously, you could sense that, like,
there was a lack of aura.
Did you feel the energy in the building just get sucked out
because of that?
Well, I planned on going up there and chugging mine too.
So I'm standing there kind of like a dope because I'm just
sitting waiting, like, oh, he's going to get done real quick.
And then I'm going to do mine real quick.
And, but all of a sudden it was over.
So that's what the hell's going on there.
I could have saved the company, like pushed him out of the way,
done the real chug.
Like the guy at the drum.
But for us, it was just the pressure of the power play.
It was just the pressure of the power play.
It was what we were really worried about.
We were still confident they were going to win the game.
So we weren't too worried, but the Sabres could have saved you
wet because if they do come back and win that game,
that could have been like the viral thing for them.
All playoffs is the slow chug.
They need a goal.
They need a rally.
I think, I think they're morons.
If they can get this series, then now, now granted,
it would happen in a loss, but that could be.
And I'm thinking, you know what?
No, you want to, you want to hear like how my brain works.
Trying to like, you know, flip this thing on its side.
I'm like, you know what, man, I'm a dad, three boys,
and it's responsible chugging.
That's I'm teaching the youth.
You don't, you don't have to chug.
You gotta be responsible.
And the kids out there now, listen, is that a reach?
Oh, hell yeah.
That's a reach.
But at the same time, if the Sabres can get this series,
still I'm off the hook.
If the Sabres lose this series, I can admit not welcome back in Buffalo,
but you know what?
Back to the fans and we'll get into the game in a sec.
Back to the fan Philly and everything that's happened.
The fans, even as I'm,
I'm leaving by the way, pasta got the puck.
He got the park at the blue line and I walked out.
I go, that's it.
Let's go.
And I knew it was like, that's it.
And he talk had just been robbed.
Swayman is an absolute God in this series.
The fact that he's playing like this is,
it's just incredible to watch.
No wonder he's up for the Vesna and pasta got the puck.
And I bombed down by the time I got around the corner where I'd done the
pathetic chug.
Merles is trying to grab up the Sabre swords and all we can't forget these.
Oh yeah.
Good point.
I don't want to leave that there.
That, that really helped me out tonight.
So, and as I'm leaving Sabres fans, Hey, thanks for coming, buddy.
I'm like, what about my chug?
Oh, it was bad, but it is bad, buddy, but we'll get them.
We'll get them like just positive,
good people that treated me phenomenally well and want to say thank you to
them.
And once again, I'll apologize.
And my favorite moment that I addressed,
I think on part of my take was the guy in the bathroom.
What's up with that chug, man?
I was like, I don't know.
I was like explaining what happened.
He's like, you got to own the spillage.
You just got to own the spillage.
And yeah, if you could go back,
I do think had I chugged it and spilled like I did earlier,
I think I'm still getting chirp, but one 10th of what it looked like.
It would have been like the effort for trying to slam it.
And then you could have just blamed the sword.
I thought you were almost like jumping on the grenade for,
for Josh Allen.
That's what I thought you were doing to just distract the fact that he
kind of had a shitty chug that half of it went on his Jersey.
So I think that when they advance,
I still think that they're going to beat the Boston Bruins,
but I think they need a redemption for you and Josh Allen.
Same game.
Both of you bang in the drum and then into both sword chugs.
And, or if you want to put the sword chug to the side and say,
Hey, no more fucking sword.
I get that.
But I think it's crazy.
You got two negatives,
make a positive and they got to,
they got to make you guys connect.
Well, they have to win first and going back to the game.
So Darlene scores on a beautiful shot posting and nothing swimming could do.
Right.
And I said to Merle,
it must've been three minutes after that,
like game clock swimming through a screen.
He battled,
I forget who he saved it on.
And I'm like,
dude,
he looks dialed right now.
Like,
you know how you could tell with a goalie early on Keith,
I remember last year with Bob,
you were kind of like,
Oh,
he's got it early in games.
I'm like,
I don't think they're scoring again.
And it turned out to be,
that was the only thing I got right.
And like the way he's able to track the puck right now,
because you may say that Buffalo is still going to win.
I feel,
I really hope they do,
it's going seven money.
This there's no chance.
The Bruins,
the way they showed up game five at home with,
I think already said the worst home performance he's ever seen,
or they've ever had.
I just can't picture them not coming out guns a blazing,
not to mention the pasta interview after the game in which he's like,
just cheer loud.
I promise we'll shoot the puck,
but I don't know if anyone wants to take over what they saw in the game.
Just the pasta goal.
What a move.
Well,
since I had boots on the ground,
I can say this,
that the Buffalo crowd yelling sway and sway did not,
did not help the team.
Do not do that to a guy like swayman.
He's a dog.
He's going to feast off of that.
Once you get three or four on them,
if you want to have some fun,
let them sleep.
That,
that was killer.
Um,
I think that it was expected after you,
if you're a goalie and you go by the bench and you call out your team,
you better be the best player on the ice for your team that next game.
And he was,
and,
and it kind of,
people have their initial opinions on that.
Like,
Hey,
you're a goalie.
Shut the fuck up.
Just stop the puck.
Other people are like,
well,
no,
like he's in the net and playing a full 60 minutes.
And he's a true leader on this team.
And especially the way he played all season being up for the Vesna.
Um,
he is up for the Vesna,
right?
He's one of the top three.
Yes.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I,
I,
I think that,
uh,
it was pretty much a gimme that he was going to come in and give his best.
And you know,
pasta,
I mean,
fuck,
as a Leafs fan,
I've seen that story before.
And like you went when he got that at the blue.
And I was just impressed because initially when,
when he received the pass,
like keep in mind,
like it was a great defensive zone play.
And then the cameras got a pan quick.
So when you see it pan,
you're like,
Oh fuck.
It kind of looked like he was offside,
but then you go back to the play and it was just great anticipation from him
off the bench,
knowing that turnover was coming.
He gets going.
And then he actually,
as he's crossing over,
he gets his left leg back and he hovers it.
Some people,
still confused with the rule.
Obviously they're like,
Oh,
his skate was off the ice.
It's like,
ah,
they changed that three years ago.
And it's just,
it,
I would,
I would say he was onside by a country.
Like literally that much,
the,
the,
the blade of his skate and just an unbelievable move.
And lion,
I thought lion was solid too,
man.
This is,
these are two good goalies going at it.
And this is going to be a difficult closeout for the Buffalo Sabres,
especially at the fact like they put Austin in.
Right.
And he was tremendous in the game.
Fire and,
and fit right in.
He had a great regular season.
Fans are really happy with him.
Of course,
that was with Norris coming out.
Well,
apparently Norris was ready to go.
Like he could have played,
but they're like,
Hey,
we're up three,
one,
let's get them a couple more days rest,
especially with the two day layover in between games,
five and six.
And he gets injured like five minutes into the game.
I don't know if you guys heard caught wind on what happened.
No,
but he,
he was probably their best player leading up to that.
We,
we were so impressed with him.
I saw him play.
Two years ago in Sweden,
after he got drafted,
he was this tiny little boy and what he's become.
He,
he was their most effective player.
We didn't see the play,
what happened to him,
but we saw him at the bench limping behind the bench.
Yeah.
He's the middle stat fell on his knee is what it was.
Yeah.
It looked like it was like an MCL type of thing where it opened up.
And what we knew is when he go down the tunnel,
all of a sudden you see four gentlemen in suits just fall basically out of
the stands in the middle of the tunnel.
It was the four doctors from the Sabres.
And we're like,
Oh,
they know that's not good.
If they're all four rushing down right away down the tunnel.
So I don't expect to see him for a long time.
And it stinks because he was playing on the first power play.
They got,
they finally got a goal on the power play.
What hasn't been there.
So that's going to be a tough loss for him.
Um,
to make that,
to make that move,
the pasta knock made on the,
like to have a guy draped on your back that close to the goalie,
his edge work and hands like that.
That's so,
that's such an elite move that he's maybe one of five guys in the league
that can make that such a sick move.
And to bury that in his celebration in the stand guy,
giving him the finger.
He's yelling back.
I think he was looking for a whip.
You want to fuck that with the guy?
We were outside.
Yeah.
I was on the way home.
Another thought.
I'm like,
you know,
Cam Neely,
he just looks grumpy up in the box.
Even when they're winning,
he's just grumpy.
And I just pictured like seeing my chug and like how pathetic it was.
Like,
maybe he just like gave a little smile.
Oh yeah.
Think,
I think we're winning this one tonight.
But I don't think the saber,
they didn't have their best game,
right?
Like it was just kind of,
they,
they turned it on late.
I mean,
Swayman made that save on,
um,
who's the kid from check that like threw it behind him late in the third
period.
And then over time he had a couple obviously.
And it was just,
uh,
it was an atmosphere.
They were ready to explode,
but they were ready to just,
Go nuts.
The beginning of the game, Merles and I were saying,
this is kind of as loud as Edmonton was.
was in the finals like it was it was a crazy atmosphere shout out the fans for just picking
up the canadian anthem when the microphone didn't work yeah the fact that happened when you stepped
in the building i was like this is something's off there's a bad electrical current coming in
that fucking building when does that ever happen there and the one game you step in the building
it's going down but they picked it up they picked it up for they crushed it very very very cool
moment um a lot of people confuse as to why they sing the canadian national anthem it's a border
town they get tons of canadian fans going over they even were i don't know if they still do it
but kind enough in the past where maybe they weren't drawing as well they would sell tickets
at par so if you were a canadian and the dollar exchange is you know 130 and it's they would say
hey don't worry your canadian dollar is just as good here at even that's fucking pretty nice uh
the other uh guy there was rumblings gee you mentioned it you thought lynn home wasn't 100
he was getting bumped down in the lineup a little bit maybe to to alleviate some of the pressure
from tougher matchups well he fucking comes through with that big tying goal on that net
front scramble so as a bruins fan is maybe hard as uh some fans have been on him for the lack of
production and where he's at hey man he he's he helped extend your season yeah i like seeing uh
stern i thought the good coaching moves that stern made was playing zaka and kuznetsov alongside
posternok that was the point i was really making last show was lynn
home he doesn't play with enough pace for posternok like he need we need a faster pace
alongside posternok so and then kuznetsov i mean he doesn't have a point this series but
i i think he's one of the bruins best players like he hunts pucks he's a fucking motherfucker
out there he just battles non-stop i love this kid but yeah i thought i don't think
lynn home played the best game ever i thought he had a good goal but uh i love what stern did
with the lines i think for buffalo too it's and we talked about it with philly is
these young teams and teams that haven't been in the playoffs is figuring out a way to win and
figure you saw philly last night like that game was so boring they're just trying to figure out
how to close out a series and i think buffalo had a little bit of that in that game um obviously
losing an overtime hurts but i think it's just one of those steps that you got to make as an
organization to get better get on to the next round figure out how to win and i think they take
care of them next well we got a few young teams in these playoffs i mean utah one of them where
they've given up some leads and they're not going to win and they're not going to win and they're
crazy stat we'll get to it later with them but kind of similar to anaheim and in buffalo two
young teams that are up 3-1 that okay you get three chances to close this thing out let's see
how you handle it and how you can you know how you can figure it out with a young group of guys
not to mention there's a lot of pride on the other teams too like no one wants to get beat
4-1 no one wants to start their summer like all these guys out there have pride and want the
extend these series as long as they can so based on pasta's comments
you know i think it's a good thing that they're not going to win and i think they're going to
the type of crowd where they they yell shoot a lot yeah oh my god yeah for an original six team
they might be the worst i think they started the game with ra ra is i've never we've done
streams with him before where we've had to mute him in the back because he's just like shoot
shoot shoot even on twitter he's tweeting shoot shoot shoot playoffs playoff hockey man shoot
the puck but at some point you got to give you know you got to give pasta coming over the blue
line like three seconds to maybe make a play or toe drag that thing into it
or release in the slot they're yelling shoot immediately when they get in the offensive zone
so i i was going to ask you one question where because i obviously you know we're all kind of
chirping you on twitter having fun with this thing and uh you didn't uh uh well except for
yans because he doesn't have twitter which we hope he gets pretty soon chirp me on text that
would uh but um one of your comments you said you were getting a lot of texts that i was blowing
bruce cassidy oh yeah i'm interested to hear who who was texting you no two
tweets random tweets like wow biz said all this guy's teammates hate him no i didn't no i never
said that i said his shelf life or something i fed yourself shelf life whatever they said
and then apparently apparently you were just just just really really really just playing up bruce
what do you think oh yeah i'm gonna ask him to sit on his lap at one point this guy's gonna come
in the studio and i'm a little sensitive here busy boy no i want to buddy if we first of all
he's coming on the podcast he in the room he was also pretty good on tv i'll give him that he was
unbelievable but if you think for a minute when we get him on after i asked him to come to the
podcast that was my first question or one of my first questions i'm gonna say just like i did
with hitch say hey you know it is that you it's 10 that you you ride your players hard and you
know you wear on him same thing that we went over in an interview with hitch no that we talked about
this yes sir so you're acting like i'm shit and dragging this guy around and you're like
through the mud on the podcast where all i've said is that he rides his players hard and that
he's got a short shelf life the same thing we said about torts the same thing we've said about
hitch like what what coach that does that have we not said that about on this podcast did i say
anything personal towards him where people i don't remember any personal attacks i don't remember any
personal attacks at all um so well you're saying i'm being sensitive about i just had i just had
to have the conversation about like oh i'm blowing him what am i supposed to not be a nice guy to him
because i think he rides his players i never played for him baits fataglia was the only guy
who came on here fucking saying he's the worst guy ever i forgot about that interview yeah i know you
did that was up when i that was when i was up in my attic still recording this show back in the day
you're acting like i was the guy saying it now that i'm blowing him well i think that people
tweet that you think that i'm baits fataglia that's what i think's going on right now that
that could be i mean i could see that so much similar looks uh i'm very excited though to have
bruce on the show i'm very excited to have bruce on the show i'm very excited to have bruce on the show
that's great that you locked that interview in good job um so we're gonna come on now that he
hears that we're talking about this he did say that i think his daughter or one of his kids
follows us on tiktok he's like you guys do the tiktok stuff i'm like yeah that's like one thing
that we do but um i'm not sure what what clips are coming out on tiktok that is it's just memes
going out get ready videos like fucking makeup tutorials um how is me how is memes
through all that nonsense he was amazing he was he was crying that we because we went back to watch
the oilers which by the way oilers are up three nothing as i'm not watching any of it i'm like i
don't know if i can watch these guys uh and i go back home anaheim gets one but then obviously
four one get to that but memes was crying laughing like like just going over our night together he's
like that was but what were you doing she kept saying what were you doing i was more disgusted
with your stride than the than the beer yeah you
were playing that up i know come on shocking you're like the one buddy of mine that didn't
realize i was playing that one up well the one now granted the skates were probably two sizes too
small so that there was an aspect of that but i'm doing the we're talking before about doing the
1976 swing short stride i got hork laughing you played a perfect biz and then keith what is up
with your stride i'm like dude you gotta i'm on the highway there's cars going 75 miles an hour
and let's go buffalo that horn and i got keith calling out my stride that was actually maybe
the only look at that stride right there you thought that was real i i don't know i figured
maybe on the highway you'd give it your best effort to get off the highway oh yeah hit the
rumble strips i knew the one at the house when you left that guy's neighborhood that was fucking
hilarious that they were waiting for you and shit but i knew that one was fake but the one
on the highway i was like oh no whit what's going on here merles looked like my car
hey by the way yeah mer go yeah so we gotta shout out memes it was his idea to get us on
on the road like that with a buffalo sign but we almost had even a better clip because
we had to stop it there and whit hasn't been on the roller blade so he didn't know how to stop
on them so he just peels off down and into like a trench by like a seven foot ravine buddy
then i stepped in a thing of mud where my skate went all the way in all but but but
it was almost an all-time like i i saved myself from going face first into a giant mud pile
last second with like amazing flexibility with the left leg stepped up went back you were like
posternock went that was the foreshadow i stayed on i stayed on side in the mud pit so um yeah just
a great day hey well fuck we i gotta ask you though before we move on the blade gang the one
in the risto jersey with the bottle of pink whitney sitting down in the fold-out chair i would fucking
i would adopt them
i'd pay him i would pay his parents a million bucks to keep them and the way he said like
fuck those guys what did he say they skate like shit they played in the nhl so we told them what
to do right like just guys kind of be chirping us and we're just gonna come bombing down the road
out of town and and they yeah they over delivered so that family great people so the blade gang four
of them are brothers and that's the house that's their house they got an unreal backyard rink and
all those all those kids played hockey together growing up south buffalo what a cool little
neighborhood i guess kane grew up maybe one or two streets down um and they were like dude this
was the hockey house we all came here skated every night the rink we played at's about a mile that way
we watched all the games we played mini sticks upstairs i mean there's 10 kids that shout out
them they called the sabers out to the sabers invited them to bang the drum and they said like
for you and i think it might have been risto he's like no no it's like we're not all fly together
yeah he's like we all fly together and buffalo's like oh sorry like we can't get that many tickets
or whatever it was and they called them back
20 minutes later, they go,
guys are all wow love that the loyalty between the blade gang was just great i don't know if the
the guy in the dolly jersey was just extra buckled but when they went out for the drum thing it was
clear the risto in the lawn chair like he's he seems like the captain leader of the group oh
yeah yeah like he's the he's the alpha male and then the dolly one was buckled and he was like
kind of in front of the drum and then the other one just grabs him and pulls him to the back
so just from start to finish from like the content from the highway you meeting up with
him doing the skits you mucking the pre-game hot dog going to the fun i just that's what that that's
the one thing i that i want people to remember is that when you got to the game that's not when
your day started you were on the highway at noon everyone's gonna remember the light the saber sword
and i tweeted out you're you were like evan bouchard that night you played 30 yeah
i
know buddy incredible hockey and you have this one blunder and it's all people you're you're you're
basically the the buckner is this paul coffees paul coffee said to bush as long as the good
outweighs the bad where and by the way bush had the best game i think i've ever his assists in
game five were out of control like but so but last thing on this uh morris biz texted me yesterday
he goes how you feeling buddy great job man all-time day couldn't have
scripted
it any better i go oh i could have scripted a little better bro buffalo would have won he's
like true um just one more thing on the blade gang how about the other two videos they showed us
the first night risto they went they didn't publish it he's getting carried home legless
oh i don't know why they didn't release that they had a video of them carrying risto home
and then later he's at a bus stop and i'm telling you if this bus stop poll isn't there the kids on
the on the ground like the bus the bus stop is holding him up and his buddy drives by video and
i'm just chirping him instead he doesn't pick him up he's like i need it why didn't you get me he's
like ah fuck off dude so winner winner of chicklets cup should get to play them yeah that it was they
have they have a free invite and uh and and and listen i don't know what the plan was i can't
really divulge it um you know for next chicklets cup but fuck man i think that there's a strong
possibility that we honor these guys and uh i don't know what the plan was i can't really divulge
guys and do it in buffalo i think if buffalo loses we can't go back i think if buffalo won
that game it was decision was made after the game we announced it after the game buff we're going
back to buffalo but now it's it's up in the air it's kind of who wins this series right are they
heading to to boston they're looking to go i don't know me and the jet yeah i wish we could send him
a jet um i got one more thing and it's the perfect segue to our next topic though because we came out
of that rank with every
everybody and at the same time there was more people outside the rank i think partying watching
the game than inside but we all met in the same spot and i thought maybe now you were going to get
some hate no you were still getting it was almost like you were lifted through the street still
thanks for coming with thank you thanks for coming to buffalo thank you for everything so
the fans there are amazing a little different than another fan base that i'm in a battle with right
now and merle's what
is talking about and pittsburgh philly fans or philly fans really we got army coming on to chat
we're going to get to that minnesota mer is is really really running your show and i've been
there i'm there right now i've lived in the bubble you're in right now just terror and fear
they look amazing they have matt boldy zuccarello's back and they got a chance to end this thing
tonight buddy yeah these fans are like ruthless they're almost like they're like personal like
where you know some of these fan bases we have
fun we're joking with each other you call them frauds mer i didn't realize that was that big of a
bad the stuff they're saying to me is a lot worse biz you wouldn't want to be instead about you and
your family but um they look great to your wife and kids they look they they look great and and i
i was afraid of the x factor line felinos and mccarran the mutants and and they have been
producing the big goals but yeah i'm in i'm in a lot of trouble here minnesota looks faster but
i don't give up on my dallas stars miko ranting and he's been a little quiet he's gonna have one
of those nights tonight like he did against colorado last year you you have the opportunity
right now to change your mind and flip the script and go on the minnesota train are you taking it
i will i will i would take back the fraud comment you can't do that you can't take that it's either
they're still frauds or you're hopping on the train fuck you we're not playing middlemen
we don't fuck girls they're going after your family don't fucking don't coward into this
they're 0 and 11 in uh the last 11 playoff series so add that into it the pressure we just talked
about and then biz there's one thing i got i got an ace up my sleeve if minnesota does get through
this series and it's that hat right back there the colorado avalanche as an alumni of four
preseason games i just i just flipped the script real quick and just jump on that you're gonna
original number 29 of the abs we're talking to here base you know that mckinnon took his freaking
number now dallas right now boys they stink five on five they they can't do anything five on five
and we brought up hints not only is he a hell of a player he's fast as shit so like the team speed
on minnesota is obviously better than dallas um just bonehead mistakes go back to the first goal
in game five tyler myers
has the puck behind the net nobody on him and he fires it off the wall with nobody near him
right to hartman who throws it in front kaprizov gets a shot gets his own rebound unreal pass over
to zuccarello who's back he's back he had three assists in the first game then he doesn't play
scores the big goal there makes it one nothing and you're like what is going on like dallas is
making mistakes that you just all year they didn't really make they were i i don't know
their five on five numbers all year i'm sure somebody will be able to fill us in on that
maybe you could check g but if minnesota stays out of the penalty box like i can't see him losing
this game because dallas has nothing going five on five which is i mean buddy that's playoffs that's
how you win in the playoffs biz you've seen these games it's like think think back to right so who
got the double overtime winner uh was it wyatt johnson in game was that game four or game three
was that was game three two or three yeah it was three because uh yeah because they got worked and
worked in game one he got game four bold he got the ot winner in game four so i i man like i well
hints makes things a lot easier to to to carry it through the neutral zone right so you're getting
easier better cleaner uh zone entries and it alleviates a lot of pressure off of you know
a lot of the other guys and also like i thought
that duchesne's played a hell of a series like he's been good he's been very visible but at the
you know ultimately you get a bumped a little bit more down the lineup and get some you know
get some pressure taken off of him like how much can you really take and i tell you what man big
sexy like he's he's brought a lot like the trades right now that minnesota made are are paying
dividends and it was i mean that goal the other night he had a fucking unreal goal earlier in
the series that was like superstar style goal it looked like fucking boldy going on out there
uh
but yeah it's it it just feels like it feels like the superstars are are taking over for for many as
well yans you could touch on zook like i know it didn't it wasn't on his side when they scored on
the power play but he's still out there and all of a sudden he's a threat so maybe it's in the back
of their mind and uh yeah he he ended up having a pretty good impact game one yeah uh i think he
just and we've talked about he just settles everything down so much especially for a guy
like carill a guy like boldy boldy this is his first game of the season and he's been a good
player in the olympics he was amazing in the olympics but this is him right now proving that
he is a superstar in this league he is so damn good like if you look at them right now and you
say if we don't if we can choose one guy carill or boldy for the next eight years who are you taking
carill really well i think that that boldy's obviously this series like recency bias right
it's probably the same reason that well money wise maybe boldy if you had but like this is
they got them both locked up that's true if you include money i think i think people are definitely
saying boldy because like just like he's a game breaker now we we were expecting a little bit more
from carill even though he had an okay game or solid game one and then he maybe disappeared a
little bit for a few games but i mean if you look at a stat was out if you look at a stat line he's
found a way to make an impact in in a lot of the games i think he's at what eight points at this
point now so not like the worst series for for capri soft but as far as like individual efforts
and what he's been able to do like obviously this has been a major major coming out party this season
for boldy including the olympics not that we didn't know this guy was talented what he could
do it's just like hey man going against dallas first round dallas has home ice everybody's
probably leaning that way thinking they're going to be able to get it done minnesota with all the
the reputation they have of getting beat out in the first round he's just elevated his play and
and and yeah that's a that's an absolute dog gamer right there i know we're using the word dog a lot
these playoffs but uh ottinger you can't blame him man i don't know man i was just gonna say the
exact opposite a little bit the game before an overtime buddy minnesota was peppering him he
might have made like four or five game saving saves that was the most lopsided
overtime I've ever watched it was yeah until last night when Pittsburgh did that and Philly still
won which is kind of what happens but biz I agree with you on game four but game five all right
think of this that Boldy shot while perfectly placed it's he's got a hell of a shot there was
no screen okay and it was like it wasn't like Boldy really leaned into that one so whatever
maybe that one's just that good of a shot the McCarron one now first I want to talk about
Lindell uh Maverick Bork and the other defenseman there was uh I wrote it down here um the Bischel
uh Myers again and and McCarron they just stop at the blue line completely skating McCarron goes by
him not only does he get by him Tarasenko beat all three of the stars back to the net and then
it goes in five hole kind of squeaks through I get you this is not like Dallas fans I don't
think they're sitting there like oh Ottinger's losing us this series no way but in game five
I thought two of those goals I think I think they could have been stopped that that now
Minnesota okay Pete
who's Pete uh DeBoer uh Minnesota boys tonight this is the biggest game in franchise history
I'm so happy for them I'm so happy it's fired up and Merles I actually think based on what I get
online a lot you you if you went to Minnesota dude it's it's different like people would people would
love to have you there
I'm telling you yeah you'd get sherped but they would it's not the same as the things people say
on Twitter but but they got they got to get through this series man and if they go back to game seven
in Dallas then you're thinking of the Rontan and Dame seven against Colorado like he could do it
again he hasn't been the same final thing I don't get Jamie Ben that kind of looked like a suspension
to me that's a suspension that's a regular season that's a three to five game that's a straight
it's one of those things where game one I believe maybe it was game two he goes after Boldy when
they're crossing and over the blue line okay you get your you know you get your shot in on a
superstar try to get under a skin earlier in the season or in the series and then the accidentally
on purpose one where you can't really pin it on them I know Minnesota fans are like are you
fucking kidding me look at this guy's history it's a laundry list he obviously when he was
you know pretending to jump out of the way he kind of gives him that little rabbit punch in the back
of the head
and then he's like oh my god I'm so sorry I'm so sorry I'm so sorry I'm so sorry
down the tunnel if they lose Boldy there it might be series over right so that's what Minnesota fans
have a massive gripe about even though they don't know what uh delay a game penalty is um but that
one last game like listen I'm not here saying that Hartman doesn't play with an edge and get
underneath guy's skin but clearly he went over the line and Ben already gave him the shot back
so the cross check to the net the neck was just like uh like hello and you can tell
he kind of panicked right away he realized like that was really bad and like you could see him
kind of like he's like oh no like if you ask him right then if you ask him right then he say I say
I'm getting suspended like and then it was just a fine I I was surprised I'm seeing from Pasha
Friedman here that Brodine is out tonight oh no yeah that that's a serious five-on-five shutdown
D-man so you split up Faber and Hughes now I don't think so or at least maybe sometimes you can keep
them together for seven years or so I don't think so I don't think so I don't think so I don't think
of the time and then spread the love maybe other places but they've been so good together I think
you got to keep them together as long as you can oh that's a tough loss just Brodine's such a tough
loss just a quiet incredible defensive defenseman that can skate like the wind like just a big time
if you don't notice him he had another great game yeah now not like obviously I didn't really want
to shit on Ottinger because I wouldn't put the series on him but going to the other net we didn't
want to shit on Ottinger but going to the other net we didn't want to shit on Ottinger because I wouldn't
get to start the series what a what a job by this young net minder like no it's kind of nice man it's
like he's looking out the other end he's like that guy you know he's been a playoff so many times and
there's a little bit of pressure on him especially with how the how the prior season and postseason
had fizzled out he's just sitting there chilling being like I'm playing with the house's money man
I'm a young goalie now if I let in a bad one we still got another guy we can go to like I feel
bad for that guy at the other end uh one more thing on Ottinger I remember from back in the
game notes daily days the stats they used to chat used to give us the stats on Ottinger after a loss
and it was something incredible so look for him to to have the game of the series he hasn't had
one of those games where he just steals he could he could have 40 50 saves tonight steal that game
ranting and gets the game winner for us and then just like all these playoffs soon as we think we
know something it goes the other way it's ups it's downs it's adjustments it's just one little injury
like that changes every day
Minnesota closes out at home okay you think so well many wins game one they lose two in a row
they win two in a row it would almost make sense that then Dallas gets the one because everyone in
the world I feel like pick this thing to go seven uh but what an atmosphere it's going to be in
Minnesota I mean these fans deserve it the what Billy G's done to the team it's going to be a
it's going to be a special one tonight I know you guys have the call both games tonight biz
Minnie and Edmonton we do we got both yeah nice and then and then we got the next four or five
days off thank God oh nice buddy good for you good for you okay another team that took the lead in
their series that is I think surprising people the Montreal Canadiens boys and man when you get
older and you lose a step and you're not the player you once were it's hard you've seen so
many different guys go through it and Brendan Gallagher yeah played a long fucking time he's
played nine hundred and
eighty-eight regular season games I think it's his fifteenth season and he hasn't been in the
lineup and for a guy that wears a letter like that's it's hard and I think it being in Montreal
to like addressing the media when it first started where he was getting scratched it's like you feel
for that you feel for a guy like that and and you then you see him just being kind of a the ultimate
pro right like based on last night and Montreal gets to win we'll get into the game he scores the
first goal did you guys see the
his teammates around him during his interview after the game with Kyle
beautiful I mean that's like that just shows what they think of this guy and they're all waiting for
him they're all celebrating with them and that was a big goal Coop was disgusted with Tampa start
that's the picture right there like by the way line is outfit and just straight jeans unbelievable
I mean he was probably playing video games till five minutes before then and he's oh shit I love
Gally we'll go out and say hi to him he had a big goal but he hooked it up his PlayStation in the
press box it was a big goal and he was like oh shit I love Gally we'll go out and say hi to him he had a big goal
I mean he was probably playing video games till five minutes before then and he was like oh shit I love Gally we'll go out and say hi to him he had a big goal
ever see him in a Canadian's Jersey again.
And all of a sudden he bounces back with the gold.
an assist game and then has another big one that fourth line for montreal or some people are saying
hey it's not the fourth line like i don't know exactly if i want to call the dino line the fourth
line like either way they're getting limited ice they're a bottom six line and they are bringing
the noise with that texier and bull duke which i'll never understand that trade by st louis
um yeah that was a tough one for me to go back to that six on five at the end
it was it was crazy how close matheson was playing into the net just leaving uh kucherov over there
and i was like what are they doing what are they doing but then i thought back to the small stat i
happened to see before that texier goal kucherov one goal in his last 19 playoff he's a passer he's
looking for hegel back door so that's what they just let him they sunk in and let him let him go
shoot go shoot kuch and he didn't want to and he hasn't wanted to and and that was just great
coaching
there by whoever runs their five on six in montreal i was wondering if it was marty
exactly front the shot for the shot they radish didn't even really get i think one shot radish
might have hit dobish in the head but they packed it in and they let i think it was radish uh going
down to hegel and dobish did make a great save he came in with the backhander maybe it was genzel
but i was like man you can't chase him and they know you chase kuch he's gonna find somebody
you've already seen the back doors to hegel but for montreal
if you told me that uh through five games caulfield had one suzuki had no goals demidov
had no goals new hook has no goals hudson hudson's been their best player he's got two and three and
five games and i don't think you'd think that they'd be up in this series right like it's been
it's been surprising now vasilevsky he's he's also announced as a vesna finalist
but that texier goal man it's just that's that's a save when they're winning cups he makes every
single time hits his glove shot from the outside squeaks through and they got the lead with about i
think there was about what 18 minutes left when he scored that early in the third and they hold on
and i think tampa has a lot more to give i i think i picked this one in seven i think i did i i
wouldn't be surprised if they go in there i'll put it this way i don't think both mini and montreal
close their series out at home i i don't know the teams they're playing against are too good
but based on last night like if caulfield can pop off or suzuki can get his first then
then we could see this thing ending the crowd's gonna be wild but dobish man we thought i thought
at times coming down the stretch at the end of the regular season that it would be foulers in that
dobish have been great as well and then they went with dobish he got so hot and
biz you said it he was he was nails at the end he was you're seeing a few teams get to get it be
able to get it done without like their first line taken over right like i montreal may be a little
a little more surprising based on how dominant they were in the regular season but you saw it
with carolina in the first round where you know it's it's a very comforting thing knowing that
you don't need your first line going like ajo and jarvis and it would to me it was it was stank
and hall that carried them through that series rather than the big guys so this time of year
man you need everybody stepping up in montreal specifically between the the fourth line and now
obviously between uh uh those other guys they they get it done yeah lane hudson's been crazy
what a what a what a playoff for him so far the amount of ice he's lugging he's like a he's like
old school carlson right now yeah jake evans uh on the ice for one scoring chance against
uh and won 85 of his face off so like that's a guy that just he's a playoff type player do you
remember last year they were talking about trading him at the deadline no they re-sign him
great idea great move by montreal to keep him and what was the last thing oh
so canadian fans have been calling for lightning fans diving and they still think cooch
dove on that cross they've had a few themselves exactly that bull duke won yesterday yeah cooch
the lumberjack just gives him a whack but it was he sold it he sold that one that's part of this
game this series has been intense great games one goal games i would think we see another overtime
game in game six just based on how even these two teams are but uh anything else in this series for
any of you guys
no excited for game six yep gensel most goals per game by an american in the history of the
stanley cup playoffs got his 43rd goal in his uh i think it was like a 79th playoff game something
like that i'll never i'll never understand why why pitt didn't sign him yeah that's i'll keep
just because of he's automatic in playoffs like i don't know if you're worried about
you know his regression as he gets older but he's just one of those
players that has a knack for he's he's always going to be in the right place like he's not
afraid to go to the hard areas like he just like he's a fucking gamer i love jake the snake
and his his hockey iq like i know we talk about it a lot and some guys aren't as fat like you
look at a guy like mark stone not that fast but their hockey iq and that takes over in playoffs
right when the game's faster and everybody else is panicking with the puck and you look over at
jake gensel and he's just cool as a cucumber just doing his thing scoring
goals but he also plays fucking hard like he gets in the shit like he's in every scrum that
there's got i mean there's a ton of scrums in this series alone but he's not afraid to get
in there he obviously knows what it takes to win crazy crazy biz that pittsburgh got rid of him but
he's doing his thing once again in uh tampa he was chirping the canadians after he scored that
goal he went by his bench and was giving it to their bench so he's yeah you see some intensity
coming out of him but he is just money in the playoffs and we'll see if cooch can i think we
could all agree based on his regular season there's a little more for cooch yeah i think
cooch and vassy is the biggest they they gotta be their best players these next two even cooch
losing the puck at the blue line when i think evan's got that like i've never seen him do that
oh i i like obviously there's been a few games where we've been on air
on tnt like we didn't have that game um it could be like a classic case of the top lines going at
one another and like canceling each other out right like so that's like these guys are so
good i mean i think that uh suzuki is probably going to win the selkie is that kind of i think
we can all grow he's going to be top three right so all of a sudden maybe he's taken on more of a
defensive responsibility rather than focusing on getting his cookies hoping that the other guys can
kind of figure things out and so far that's been the case so you know you you don't know you don't
always need to make an impact on the score sheet to have a big impact on the series
yep no doubt any thoughts on the russians being checked out
checked out ready to go home already got a stanley cup well i don't know it used to be
that they'd really want to play in the world championships but they can't do that either
so i don't know no based on how they've played in in prior years but they can't win games at
home in the playoffs for four years now they do not have a good record in that arena um are my
buddy maxime lapierre funny tweety biz biz tweeted out his pajama montreal canadians i think he's got
pajamas for every team after they go home i don't know i don't know i don't know i don't know i don't
Wayne, he's got his pajamas with his coffee.
He said, stay away from my team.
But he's been going at the crowd in Tampa, saying how quiet it is.
Just a dead arena, which, I mean, that place has been buzzing before.
But here's a stat right here.
Tampa has lost 10 of its last 12 home games in the postseason,
despite 460 consecutive sellouts.
We should get Max LaPerriere on.
Oh, yeah.
He said he would.
And he's got a show I want to go on.
I said I'd go on his once the playoffs cools down a little bit.
But, yeah, Tampa even tried.
They had our boy Gruden come on before the game to fire them up.
And did you hear about it, Whit?
No.
So, in Tampa, they got these big lightning chugs,
like these beer things, lightning that you can drink out of.
He probably said.
He declined it.
He said, no, I'll just do the horn.
Did he actually?
And he skateboarded to the game.
You're fucking around.
That ain't true.
What a legend.
Oh, my God.
All right.
My oil.
Oilers, boys.
They stayed alive.
They did it.
They weren't going down at home.
It's an uphill battle.
We're going into the pond.
We're back to Anaheim tonight, 10 o'clock Eastern.
I don't know what to think.
I think they're going to win this series.
Oh, fuck.
What do you mean?
I'm not even trying to buddy.
Tell me why.
Tell me why.
Because Connor looked like he was not hurt anymore.
Like one thing.
He looked like he was skating better.
He looked way more confident.
And they just looked like they kind of just finally just settled in.
I don't know.
And I feel like Anaheim, you'll see a push here.
But I think it's that point where Edmonton's like,
ah, we got to get our juices flowing to really find our game.
Kind of like Boosh.
I got to be last man back, toe drain, really get my juices flowing
and get involved in playoff hockey.
And I just feel like they're there.
And I, yeah, I just thought Ingram looks solid.
He looked great.
He looked great.
Right.
It was a good call to go back to him.
Although, like, other than the last goal, I didn't think Jari was that bad.
But no, I think they looked a lot more sound defensively, a lot less bullshit.
And it seems like they've figured things out.
That's why I think that.
Wait, Dostal has given up the first shot of a goal of a game 12 times this year.
He's been he's been not good in this series.
Like he was big in the game.
Was it the one that went to overtime?
Oh, yeah.
The other viral clip I had.
Yeah.
The couple saves.
Yeah.
I don't think David.
And yeah, no, he.
Yeah, he looked good in that game.
But other than that, I.
i kind of agree with you it's been a bit of a shit show in that this series i gotta ask where
was it stoff that put out that connor mcdavid is a game time decision i think that's gamesmanship
i think they did that on purpose because i feel like maybe you know you have a younger group we've
talked about the leaders they have in anaheim but there's probably a lot of younger players and
i i would assume that they're on social media and they're probably here and there's oh oh and then
all of a sudden their focus goes to that rather than the fact that they got to close out and win
a game regardless if he's in the lineup or not uh i think that that is pure pure gamesmanship along
with dickinson right they said the same thing about dickinson and he played i think dickinson
though is like he looks a little more banged up he's he's obviously like he had that game one where
he's dominant and then he doesn't even play game two he's hurt the entire uh end of the regular
season he's legit probably like going out and warms like i think i could do it but really hurt where
you knew
mcdavid was playing i agree with you though his gamemanship and and shout out knob block i mean
he put mcdavid and dry saddle together from the start of the game i don't think you can do it
tonight based on like having not having the ability to throw them out there with last change
but you know nugent hopkins with pod colson and hyman that looked pretty good that pod colson man
i don't know what vancouver was thinking he fights he hits he scores but bouchard player of the game
in my mind the first the first assist
he fires it through the zone to pod colson unreal pass that was a great shot that assist at the end
when he dishes it to mcdavid who goes over to leon i think it was the fourth goal
buddy like having been a defenseman the balls this guy has to fake a behind the back pass on
a rolling puck at his blue line to then take a very quick like forward stride and open open up
the hips and then snap it over that was that was sick and i think that's a set play
you think so no no i think well you see mcdavid he like goes outside the blue and then now he's
going towards the ducks net so i think that that it's like his job there is to bait one of them
i think because of of paling and how fast he is and how fast he closed on him uh colorn ended up
biting as well i think that they're like we got him we got him so then the the goal there is to
bait one of them and then get that puck over the other side as mcdavid skates into it
i'm not saying like it's a perfectly set play but like there's really no reason for mcdavid to be
outside the zone and getting speed to come back towards anaheim's net unless they're trying to
do that play where they go back over to him right i agree that it's like set up for him to get going
downhill just but to get it to him that way was incredible like it's still up to boosh to somehow
figure it out um yeah and that that play by the play by mcdavid too like a lot of guys would get
that and either pass it right away or they would get it and they would get it and they would get
it or shoot it but he held on to it for that one extra second to make those styles set yeah right
in the middle of the net and then he know you know he's gonna pass it but he has to set in the middle
and can't move his feet and then he slides it over to leon and obviously that's leon's spot he's like
uh he's like uh gunther over there and buddy you just said there though like like we know he's
passing it but when you look at the replay he's looking right at the goalie he's like cocked
that's why we talk about like pasta sometimes his playmaking ability and you see him coming off the
wing sometimes where you're like oh he's gonna zip that thing and then it's like boom he changes his
wrists over and he's fucking zipping it back door right on the tape to somebody so these guys have
fine-tuned those skills to make the goalies bite come out set their feet and it makes a world of
difference because these guys are such good skaters and they get such a good push these
goaltenders where if you don't do that they're gonna get over and make that save like so it's
yeah it's a lot of fun and i think it's a lot of fun and i think it's a lot of fun and i think
it's remarkable it was like the vast remember the anderson goal i think it was game one or
something when anderson went short side he had someone back door but vassy cheated it a little
bit but he's got eyes on the goalie these guys are so good at just knowing they have that option
to pass it but they're also forwards where they're thinking shot first yeah that's a great that's a
great call on that anderson goal big time he cheated on that one if you want to use your back
channels to win this game for us tonight and they are splitting up leon and mcdavid i'm going to teach
coach what to do okay you if mcdavid's lines out there you can have leon dry sidle changing for
mcdavid leon changes for the first forward that comes so that way there is some overlap on their
lines i see it every time they're changing for each other so there's none of that overlap okay
they can break a play together and that could be the the x factor tonight get them 20 seconds maybe
together snapping around that's a great call i love that i would say like just oilers score first
in every game the ducks are just they come back it seems like they were the number one team this
year they just come back all the time in the third period too in this series they've done it but um
should be a great one i think that crap i mean they've been waiting for a series win for a long
time and quenville being there that's what's scary like just the ability to calm down a team
trying to close it out he looked he looked fuming i thought his mustache was gonna fall off i thought
he gets like this with his mustache it's so funny he's doing the
dive
um hey do we know anything about the butcher what's his status i don't know i i i think he's
still hurt right he'd be in the lineup right unless he comes back tonight that means he'd
been a scratch um just don't lose to the fourth line for the ducks that line finally was a little
more quiet um if they go out and beat us again it's it's just a tough feeling but very excited

you guys well merle's idea too with the 99 cup which we did like a snake draft of picking players
actually pardoned me for my punishment i was supposed to have to score 995 goals and and pass
to someone like 2 000 billion times to do all this my back would have been blown out oh god you'd have
to make your own you're not going to wit's house you would look like me on the road blades that's
what i would have had i would have been skating like that absolutely so pretty amazing i and and
he also said and i know merle's has this rule right and i think we all kind of agree you can't wear 99
because it's the great ones number like even in beer league tj watt did it but yeah he wants guys
to wear it he told me he said hey army like i know you guys say this but if you want to wear 99 in
beer league army you can wear 99 i almost pardon buddy i almost melted it's a great one you know
and he's just on there telling great stories you know how he is he's he's amazing so that was amazing
for show 99 for game notes but the that night after i did that show game six for the pens boys and i'm
telling you
Like I had high hopes, like when they won game five and they started to look good, I'm
I'm like, oh shit. Okay. Here we go. We got something cooking. Um, I went from like,
if we win game five, it's going to go seven. That's how I felt. And then going into game six,
I'm like, if we win game six, we're winning the series. The pens are winning the series. Like
they just had mojo. They had momentum. Um, and I give the flyers a ton of credit, man. Like we
have to buddy. Holy shit. First of all, games one to three, they were on a mission. Like they
were feeling it. They were rolling Couturier. Amazing. They're young guys. Amazing. They put
bump in the lineup and scratch Meechkov bump scores. Amazing. Like everything. They got some
good, good young players coming in there right now. And then they put Meechkov in and he sits
on the OT winner last night. He was dangerous. Couple of chances. He had a breakaway. I can't
believe he didn't tuck that one in on the goal. He's pretty crafty in and around the net, like
down low. Oh, the later one.
It was the same shift. He had the breakaway later in the shift. Yeah. He came out from behind. He
kind of went down low and then had, had she loves kind of look like out of position and kind of did
like a little sneaky little maneuver to try to tuck it in behind him. Somehow it stayed out,
but those goalies were keeping everything out last night. It was, it was insane. That was a great
zero, zero. Yeah. It got, it got a little uneventful. I would say in the last half of the
game, I would say after the first five minutes, uh, for the last 15 minutes of the first period
flyer.
We're coming hard on the four check. Like they were getting pucks turned over. I felt like flyers
were the better team, probably the first half of the game. And then things kind of got in that
stalemate situation where, especially in the third, like it's like, Oh, they're like, nobody
wants to make a mistake, but I agree. The two stars of the game were the goalies. I felt like
both teams, like they weren't getting the puck up enough. Like there was a lot of like, like pad
saves where it's like, Oh, you just got to elevate it. And it's a free goal army. I got to ask you
though. Like there were some career,
for players on the Pittsburgh penguins that I was a little underwhelmed with come playoff time.
And it's hard, right? Like some of these guys aren't experienced. A few other guys are, but
maybe haven't found their, their playoff game yet. Very disappointed in Manta. Uh, Chinnikov was,
was not the same player he was in the regular season. Um, let's, let's start there.
Well, yeah. And career years from both of them, Chinnikov came over, he had 18 goals and I think
43 games with the penguins.
And he came over Manta career year, 33 goal, regular season, uh, free agent at the end of
the year as well. Oh, by the way, um, 20 career playoff games, seven assists, zero goals for
Manta. He had an unbelievable opportunity also in that game. It kind of popped to him out of the
end. His brain died. Like there was three times. No, he's never scored a playoff goal. Can you
believe it in 20 games? There was three times he was around the net where I'm like, Oh, this guy
just like legit forgot.
Play hockey for five seconds in that, in that winner, the winner. I don't know. He's, you just
got to be in the lane of York. Okay. So Meechkov has the puck over there. I forget who's on him.
And he's standing, he's standing in the middle of the ice where he's not, he doesn't have his head
on a swivel. So he's not seeing that York's moved over. If he slides over and York gets that, he's
not shooting it, or he's at least maybe missing the net if you're in the right lane, but he got
it. And then Manta panics to get over. It's like, Oh bud, you just gotta, you gotta know where you
are as Meechkov dishes it across or don't even let him.
Meechkov made that pass on his backhand. That should never, ever be like, was that a pretty
risky pass by Meechkov? He saw Manta was nowhere. Yeah, I know. But like, it was a danger zone kind
of play, you know, but like for him and he just got healthy scratch. He's back in the lineup. He
was buzzing pretty good. Obviously has offensive confidence in himself. Like he's, he's an
offensive guy, but to make a backhand pass at that stage of the game, Manta was in the corner.
Well, I know Manta had no stick. You know, when you have no,
no stick and you don't know what to do, that's what he looked like. You have to either be in the
lane or be low enough. So if York does get in or in the lane to come out and block that he was,
he was just straight up in no man's land. He was, he was, he, not only was he not in the lane,
he was, he was backed off. Like he was like, yeah, I would say he probably had 10 feet to get that
backhand over to York where he had no pressure on him. And, and like you said, when you have that
angle from behind the net, you're seeing, you're like, why is he standing where he is from Manta?
I would say a very, a very forgettable series where you could, it's almost like you give visibly
see that the moment was getting to him a little bit. Yeah. He's, he's very casual. You know,
I think through his career, he looks casual, like he's big and he's like, he has pretty silky mitts.
You know, he has pretty good hands. Um, like on that chance out front, he went to go like to his
backhand quick and it just like duffed it like, like the urgency to like score, like pounded in,
like, you know, to do that. He's just different that way.
He was like that all year, but he scored 33, but in the playoffs, when it ramps up and it got a
little tighter, um, it was hard. It's same with Chinakov. Like the flyers were, were really good
in the neutral zone early in that series. He's an off the rush guy, great skater, smart heads up guy
had pretty good chemistry with Novak and Malkin on that line, but they couldn't get anything going.
Like the flyers talk has them playing like a really good brand of hockey to get in the playoffs.
They lost it for a little bit after they got up three, nothing.
They lost that. What is it? Scum bag. You call them busy.
We all call them that. Cause like they do play a little scummy. I was going to ask you about that.
Like, do you feel like there were being a little greasy early on? Like to me, to me, I go back and
listen, Pittsburgh had its moments too, right? Like you saw the hair pull, like even last night,
even though Lizotte didn't get them clean, like he kind of missed them. And then, and then, uh,
Mark, you know, shooting it into the coat. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it was chippy early and definitely
carried that early. And that was kind of a thing that was, it worked for them. It really worked
for them. Then the penguins started to turn it. They started to get their legs. I don't know if
they were like totally like my feeling is I don't think they were like, they had time off. They
clinched early. They sat guys going into the playoffs. And I think it just like they were
caught flat early. And you got to shout out for Dar and I wonder on Pittsburgh side, I wonder if
you go to, she loves a little earlier. Uh, he was,
I mean, he was going to play great though. That's saved last night when he dropped his stick and
in the, in the tone, hit his stick out. I thought he saved it live, like with this, with his pad,
but he was unreal. Like, I mean, but Vladar boys had never started a playoff game before this
series. Didn't have a shutout this year in 51 games, got two in the series. Penguins were out
shooting the flyers 10 to one at one point in overtime. And he just stood tall, gave some great
interviews after the game. I think there was a moment.
That game when he kind of was bark. Yeah. Biz throw it on. He was barking at his team a little
bit. Wake the fuck up. It wasn't at the bench, but I think it was like around his net. I mean,
how about this stat? He became the fifth goalie in franchise history with a series clinching
shutout and the most saves by a flyers goaltender in a series clinching victory. So nine 37,
one 61, this series, just an incredible display. And I don't know if this was gamemanship or talk
being a veteran, but when they ice that puck,
I think it was the,
second period. And they'd had about a three minute shift. I don't know how they didn't get a penalty
dude. And I couldn't believe muse wasn't flipping out or that he just, he just kind of figured out
a way to get these guys all this extra rest. Oh no, he wasn't on the ice. He's supposed to be on
this. I think talk was telling the ref like, Oh, let me help you. I'll tell you who's supposed to
be out there. And I came over with the paper. I thought muse would be snapping and he, you could
tell he was upset. But at that point, another coach is screaming at the ref. Like they're
fucking resting right now. Like get them back out there. Yeah.
Talk.
Well, let's explain that for people who don't maybe know exactly what you're talking about.
Yeah. Okay. So when you ice the puck, you have to keep all of the guys on the ice that have been
out there, right? You cannot change after an icing, uh, an old rule now, a great rule, I think.
And there never can be a TV timeout after an icing either, or in the middle of a power play,
cause they don't want the chance for the guys to rest and stuff like that. Well,
I, I want to say it was around a three minute shift. Those guys were caught out there.
And they iced the park. I think tip it might've iced the park. And all of a sudden Philly just
caused enough madness and like commotion that they were, they, they fooled the refs. They
basically fooled the refs. It's kind of like, like teams do it all the time, right? You throw
it a couple extra guys. So all of a sudden there's nine guys on the ice and then the linesmen are
trying to like, be like, no, no, no, no, you can't go. And then they got to figure that out.
And it's been happening since they, they obviously came up the rule. Cause anytime you do, you find a
way to try to abuse it and get away with it. And what sometimes happens is when you do that and
you're being scummy about it, then, then they'll give you a delay, a game penalty. Cause that's
exactly what you're doing. I thought they could have got one there, man. Sometimes it's a little
bit more obnoxious than others. And then the refs and, and, you know, they do enforce it to call
that type of penalty in playoffs in a big moment like that talk and coaching staff, very smart.
Cause a lot of refs don't have the ball.
To do it in that moment. Although you think, yeah, let me ask you this. Do you think it's like now,
like you see them coming over with the, they have to get everything right. You know,
when that big scrum happened in Philly to Brian Russ and connect me, we're going at it.
That was a 10 minute delay. That was insane. The numbers and everything, like they have to get it
right. I think back in like a few years ago, the refs would have been like you five fucking guys
get in there. You know, it's a hard job and this has been what Rod's been trying to enforce. And
every time he gets asked about it, he goes, buddy, I've been saying this since I came into league as
a head coach. Like we asked.
so much from these referees where you want them to get it right but there's a million things going
on it's going a million miles an hour we use video replay for for a fucking offside why wouldn't like
for instance in the scrum that they had where their player walker got sucker punched just go
to the video go to the fucking video you'll see exactly who did what in the scrum it'll be solved
way faster than it was it won't take 10 minutes the the refs will be able to see oh this is what
went down when i was scrumming it up trying to separate deloria and brady kachuk throwing bombs
and i was trying to survive and and keep my own life going here so what happened that was a big
moment though wit to your point though because it was the penguins fourth line actually a flyers
fourth line played really good too and they put forrester down on that fourth line last night and
that was a big difference maker but at that moment in the game too it was it was a penguins fourth
line which was really good for them all year long just a great energy they were awesome last night
yeah achari
they've been great all year and they they they started looking and started dictating like energy
they're kind of like an identity line for the penguins a little bit but they had the shift and
then what they would do is they they'd stack a shift and then boom crosby's line would come out
and that was the one time in the game though where they really had him drinking out of a fire hose
and they got that icing and then the three minute talk delay on the who's who's out here the funniest
clip was toxic i can help i i'm pretty sure he's like let me help you out it was like oh this
veteran dinner reservations
i got i got a great speak easy for you after the game hey but to brinda moore's point like
especially during playoffs there's always an extra ref anyways have him with an ipad in the room with
a microphone that says hey it was tippet connect me uh barky and like it can be two seconds and
they can tell you who's on the ice that's a good call i mean you see the world championships and
they got the microphones the refs and you could have that backup ref in case of injury just
watching everything that's a good idea and i think that's a good idea and i think that's a good idea
and then you don't even really have to go to the box and review it you're just getting word in
um but let's talk philly and their fans for a second i was very happy for them i know i've
said scumbag scumbag city not a big fan but fuck i saw a video it was a cell phone video from maybe
last row in the balcony of when that goal went in and buddy they went nuts they were so fired up
and what's crazy is we were texting on the group chat that they were panicked during oh yeah like
you could watching like
watching on tv you could sense like this is the series almost like if we're going back to
pittsburgh i don't know if we're getting this thing done the reverse sweeps it there's a chance
for a reverse sweep and it just seemed the nervous energy couple let's go flyers chance got started
they'd end quick and not to mention like how are you supposed to not be panicking as the penguins
are peppering them i think biz sent to the group that threw about 10 to 12 minutes of ot achari
lazotte and they played more than cross the field and they were like oh my god i'm gonna go to the
but but they they deserve to be out there they had the puck in the zone the entire time uh i know
there's a couple chances achari had a one-timer and vladar just stood tall and then for cam york
to get that goal so when they interviewed him on the bench after it said six career playoff goal i
was like what i i was so confused it was wrong it was his first he hadn't scored since january this
year just the perfect shot we talked about not the correct coverage wasn't there but man he snaps
it was it was our boy uh it might have been shazy for the pens i forget which might have been
martone wasn't it oh no no martin was it forrester i think it might have been a force i think it was
another guy i know we talked about him earlier with the blade gang ristalainen for he's never
played in the playoffs these six games one goal four assists him him and sanheim were unbelievable
this series like another one of those guys you talk about it with manta like when you look at
him you're like oh my god this guy's bad he's not good he's not good he's not good he's not good
like risto's regular season like the during the regular season he was okay one goal 13 assists but
like just a guy when you can get him in the playoffs and i know he has never played in the
playoffs he he was unbelievable for them and obviously a a guy that can clear the front of
the net so vladar can see everything him and sanheim doing such a good job against sid uh so
shout out to him like especially he's waited 15 years or what is it 10 years to play in the
playoffs he made like one mistake like when man
like bumped him off the puck in game five and they scored sauterblom scored uh to start game
five like that was pretty good time but he was he would like ristalainen was rock solid like
i thought he was more like thinking of him you think of him more as like a big rock steady
physical guy that can move pucks he can fly too like he pumps into the neutral zone and he takes
it in the offensive zone and he did a lot of really good things for them he was super important
for them it's crazy hasn't had playoff games no question but like he was good the one guy that
like unbelievable like kind of redemption in a different role than people are probably used to
like sean couturier was unreal he was unbelievable like so impactful in games one two and three
didn't notice him the next few games the penguins won then last night that game six he was a horse
like selkie shit like he's so good at stripping pucks like wedging the little can openers on the
wall like stripping it off guys he's so big
he's just crafty and smart and then when he was when he's going like that hanging on the pucks he
settles the game down he has poise he can take contact like he settled the game down for them
a lot they use the line a lot but when he was going like that he changed like the flyers game
kind of like at times they're drinking out of a fire hose air mailing pucks out of their zone the
penguins had some good stuff going but they they shut it down like it was hard for the penguins to
get inside man it was it was hard they had shots and stuff but like they made it hard all series
so like pretty amazing their fans though gritty was like beating the shit out of a penguin like
doing crimes on him throwing the penguin off the top deck down on the fans fans were grabbing the
penguin in the rink and they were doing crimes like insane beatings on these penguins when gritty
would show up malkin's walking into the rink before game six last night and like a eight-year-old kid
is yelling malkin you suck on on social media like that's silly right
that was battle of pennsylvania the flyers fans they put the phillies on the big screen they're
booing the phillies yeah no it was it was a battle it was definitely a great battle of pennsylvania
i was hoping it would go seven but the way that it ended to close it out you got you guys nailed it
um going back to like ristos got pretty like you would think for a big mutant like that pretty
underrated puck skills like he's not like he's decent with really good makes the great first
pass like you guys said i thought that they're they're
big mutant d just really showed up i was very very impressed with sealer and the way that he's
close off with shots he moved he moves pretty good like defensively he moves a bit like a gazelle man
he like closes on guys quick no time and space i mean you guys i mean slanheim it speaks for itself
um i think those i think those other two like york and drysdale more like great dancers good
skater puck movers but they played they played gritty yeah they played hard they blocked shots
they took hits to go back and get pucks and move them like they played a hard game and it was i was
curious with those guys because i don't think we look at those two guys as those kinds of players
but talks got oh he's got him bought in he's got him bought in and listen man we talked about it
right away like like michkov was a non-factor in the first four games of the series talk it
like taking him out of the lineup like he knew he was going to get scalded and the fan base was
going to turn that into a fucking massive shit show
online he still did it anyway he let him get the reset and then he put him back in and i loved i
love the line he put him on because you mentioned forrester i actually thought that he fit better on
the couturier line like i i liked him where he was yeah and like it's not even it's kind of like
it's kind of like the penguins like yeah i guess in in the kirby dock like you can call it a fourth
line but when they're playing and they're going they're throwing them over the boards like they're
not just treating them like it's not it's not an old school fourth line it's not an old school fourth
line and i felt that forrester and couturier they were vibing well and like we're having good shifts
just the same way that bump and michkov were and and ultimately i thought that he hit all the right
buttons and he had them playing the way that he they did and yeah what a remarkable job from top
to bottom for that they were desperate they were desperate like they had to win that i feel they
had to win it and they did and and and when things are going right as a coach which they are right
now for talk when he scratched me cough bump comes in and scores a beauty
it's like it that's just when you're everything you touch back in and michkov gets the assist on
the ot winner what do you guys honestly make of how much noise came out of like online when when
he did that i think it just shows me how confident talk is in his in himself in his own skin knowing
what's better for the team is maybe setting this guy out for one game you knew he probably wasn't
going to take it the right way he might have had a toy i heard he stormed out of the game and he
got out of the room no i think all that was just rumors and bullshit okay all right that hopefully
he took it the right way it is kind of crazy though that like in philly there's like a i
wouldn't say it's all their fans but there's like a a crazy section of fans that are like
crazy about michkov like you can't do anything to michkov he's like an untouchable guy it's like
the social media stuff with them and like they're like a gang it's like a michkov gang i think that
year. They're very, very desperate
for a young superstar.
yeah and well they got it in that way and that's the thing as martone and he slowed down a little
bit as the series on it's still really good but the points stopped the last few games as he gets
better it might quiet down a little bit if they're like oh my god it's this guy but you know what i
as a guy who started the michkov can't skate thing he was good last night he had a couple we've
already said that i was just more asking like man like i've never seen where it's like taking what
he did in the first four games and then taking him out it becoming such a story and a distraction
online i think is the craziest i've ever seen for somebody who it's like he didn't do anything for
four games like where why are you saying you want what are they seeing what are they seeing
they're like they're literally like we want the coach fired again
it's like he just took you from being a a lottery team to the second round of playoffs
he's done this with two
teams that he's taken over in their in their first year like what i actually think no matter
what biz that he would have played next game had they won in pittsburgh he's in the first game
against carolina and then if they lose he put him back in obviously so i think it was a one game
reset and it worked so fires fans i think they're fired up today and they deserve to be another
thing couturier 73.1 percent in the face off yeah that's decent that's decent horse horse like he
looks huge on the ice too he looks huge so i want to say this to it sorry to flyers fans and yans you
know that you played there but like i sent out that tweet after game five sid's on a three-game
point streak like he kind of willed the team to a victory to take it to game six like just
leadership i sent out that tweet of like his eyes you know when he was on the bench that thing went
viral and i was like oh oh no and and all the flyers fans they didn't really say much and it
was mostly positive like yeah sid's sid's unreal
fucking ot winner york throws a stick off a guy's dome and then all of a sudden i opened my social
media buried they were waiting two days to these guys are psychos
i can't believe we didn't mention the stick throw the stick throw it like he threw it i don't know
if he meant to hit the bench but he said after he's like i hope i don't get a lawsuit or anything
i saw the video in the stands of like i think an older guy in front ended up getting it somebody
caught it uh maybe off the head i'm not exactly sure but i think it's a good thing that they're
exactly sure but i don't think there was any probably everyone's so fired up they don't care
now you knock somebody's teeth out maybe you got a different story he hummed that thing oh buddy they
would let you baseball swing them in the face to go to the second round of playoffs are you kidding
me but like you think of like when i think of the stick throw mark savard did it but like he threw
it nice like did it if you throw someone a golf club or a stick you throw it like that he hum
chuckled it sideways like a death star trying to kill someone it was an australian boomerang
hammered it i couldn't believe how it just snapped out of his hand like that was not that was a laser
beam sizzler right in there boys they were all taking pictures and videos and passing it around
after hitting each other with it like it was an infinity torch yeah give me that penguin stuffed
penguin again i can choke it out with this stick from cam york but uh army i know that you know
you're a penguins guy you work for them but happy you had to be a little happy for your brother i
know he works for the flyers yeah that's a good thing you know you're a penguins guy you work for
him and let's kind of bring it into next round i mean this is uh i don't know if i remember seeing
and correct me here g the canes are minus 275 i think the whole world's picking picking carolina
i'm wondering on business pick here with the vidar if they can keep it running but
i think it's gonna be tough man like yeah maybe the rest in the first game philly haven't buzzed
i don't know when that series will start maybe on monday so they're gonna have a little rest too
i'm picking carolina i'm kind of bought
into carolina i they they made me just look like a complete fool against ottawa philly's got
something special cooking but man you look at how good sandheim and ristelainen were they're
playing 26 minutes a game carolina doesn't really need to do that they they got more depth up front
more depth in the back if vidar could keep this up that would be a big moment i don't know who
wants to kind of start it with your thoughts on this series i think that ehlers is banged up right
now they're saying he might not play in the second round really yeah that would be a
pretty significant loss of speed uh to that third line he'd been playing with stalzy um
who else is uh who else is they have that hall they have that hall stankov and uh that was their
best lines going that line got knocked out yeah yeah so he might not be playing either i think
but in a yellow jersey go ahead go go ahead yance we'll let you talk on this first i think i honestly
the way carolina played obviously they they worked over ottawa but i don't think ottawa was
a test where we can really really see what carolina is made of i don't think they you know
created enough offense got enough ozone time stuff like that so i i think it's going to be
a better series than people think i think uh the speed of philadelphia the coaching
with philadelphia the way that their d can move they got big d so i honestly think this is going
to be a lot tougher series than people think i think people think this is going to be a cakewalk
for carolina into the conference finals but i truly think the way the mojo is going in philadelphia
right now the way that if the young guys can continue to help out if coots can continue to
play the way that he has uh obviously we talked about risto and sanheim um if those guys can do
what they did against sid i i think this is going to be a really good series and i think i think
they're going to pull it off in seven yeah oh wow okay hey i was thinking about going philly in
seven i'm gonna i'm gonna the reason i'm gonna switch i'm gonna go over to carolina in seven i
agree with you guys like some people think this will be a cakewalk um i'm gonna give edge to the
flyers and net although anderson was awesome he was great he was he was great but i'm gonna give
it to vladar the way that he played in round one and all season long um i think that the problem
here is though boys is philly's power play is going to be a really good series and i think that
is absolutely dog shit and carolina has one of the best penalty kills so unless like something
miraculous happens overnight that's not going to solve itself so i think overall special teams
carolina is going to dominate um and i just think that ultimately the speed will wear philly down
and the fact that they had to go a little deeper and they've been playing uh they've been playing
playoff hockey for basically the last two months um i hate to go against my boy talk it's not that
i'm doubting the philadelphia
i just think that um experience energy and uh special teams and uh will play a major factor
in this one so i got i got carolina hurricanes in seven games i i go ahead go ahead army i just i i
think that like i think the flyers play a certain style of hockey that it like i i did game three
ottawa carolina in ottawa i was down between the benches was awesome um i i think ottawa
tries to play more like that rotatey like offense and stuff and on the outside yeah they get the
they're trying to you know get skilled and they can easily frustrate like stutzel and these guys
and you know fancy couple guys on the outside yeah brady's running guys over but i think philly
like plays a more of a team style suited to to kind of battle it out battle it out a little bit
with the canes do i think they're going to beat the canes i don't know i think i think canes will
win in like six games tops but i think it'll be more better than you think i think philly matches
up better fuck all you guys i'm turning into the biggest scumbag of all time yeah yeah exactly you
are a scumbag i my my thought process on this series and biz you said it last episode
svetchnikov aho and jarvis being quiet in the first round like yeah it's not gonna stay that
way it i just can't imagine those guys like not kind of lighting this team up
if philly can split in carolina which has has looked impossible for teams in the playoffs
right in the first few rounds then we got a series on our hands if they go down there and they lose
those first two like you're not beating that team four out of the next five games and that's how it
would maybe end in five i got carolina in six i think it's going to be a good series but it's
that top line being quiet with a sweep it's like apparently jarvis is battling something too oh he
got to say yeah that's okay okay now i heard somebody listen like i i don't dig hey i don't
dig i heard it might be a little bit of a like a like a shoulder or something that's what somebody
said that's a that's a big deal if him and eelers are both battling something and eelers isn't even
playing could be could be dead wrong though could also be just like an internet idiot at that point
do you put couturier on the hall line like do you sick him against that line they'll have a plan
they'll have a plan to slow that line down
looking at the flyers lineup and how they just like have bought in and what they're doing i'm
gonna i'm taking carolina i'm going back to seven games i'm going to seven games i think it's going
to be a hell of a series i just carolina i think i'm just so scarred from what i just witnessed in
ottawa they didn't fucking have they didn't trail for one second guys no i know and going into the
playoffs you're like ottawa's a better team than philly it's like i but philly just completely
flipped everything on its side nobody really picked up the ball and they're like oh my god
I think I saw the ESPN picks.
They had 29 peepos.
26 of them had the penguins so they're used to they're used to being doubted i can't wait till
this starts i think it is you know they're writing a great story man it's like they're probably the
best story of the playoffs that they're writing nine points out after 60 games played nhl record
to battle back and get in and like they're they're they're the one team that's really writing an
awesome story for themselves and especially with a lot of their young guys too like a lot of their
young guys kind of coming on the scene here and they have a chance to really like make something
for themselves in their first experience in the playoffs you know it's it's it's it's pretty cool
like from bladar to york to martone to bump to i don't know bonk almost got in they got all these
guys they got a lot of bees yeah bumps and bumps and bonks bees uh okay so who's carolina's mascot
because right now i have the x factor in the series is gritty and i almost feel like amilton
the pig it was did they retire him they still have the pig on the shoulder patch no but it's
like it's like come on it's not even close to as cool as gritty as much as i hate stormy the ice
hog stormy yeah shouldn't you guys know this aren't you guys affiliated no well we got doyle
like our echol mascot is 20 times cooler than the carolina hurricane
mascot no offense uh but i think an x factor for sure is gritty yeah it's almost like
trip tracy's gonna have to like somehow combat that and i'll tell you this for free i'd suck
a hammer right now to get his breakdown like right literally right now i want to hear that
what that guy has to say about this fucking series holy shit i wouldn't give anything to hear that
oh buddy it's almost like we need trip versus gritty that's what the they should just fucking
the flyers in four oh you legends i don't know about that i don't know about that yes
now i'm starting though to think like because i'm talking about the first line in carolina
like can stankhoven hall and blake like keep that pace up yeah wick come over to the dark side
you want to come you're going over the dark side i just want a fucking good series philly's gotta
muddy the water they gotta muddy the water but you kind of can't push carolina around i don't
try muddying it army where would you rank this the scumminess in the first series um against
pittsburgh like if you had a pie graph what percent first three games super scummy well give
me a percentage based on the overall series who was scummier and by what percent oh i think philly
was scummier i mean there was a few like the gino shooting the puck thing but that wasn't like
that wasn't some of the other stuff like you know he's cross check on sid at the end he's cross check
rust went crazy then then he tried to fight him in front of the whole crowd and they showed him
that jumbotron a million times him yelling eight like six and six in the box that was crazy it was
a 15 minute delay and there was on and on just other other incidences of stuff like that that
they were that they were doing that they were good at it and it worked for them early penguins found
their game they got a little rust pulling martone's hair we had a little action on the other sides but
i think that was kind of philly's calling card i think they're they're they're pretty good at it
like they're engaged up and down their lineup they're good at it and i i think it would be
wise for them i know ottawa tried that i think they should stick to that it's hard to get through
the neutral zone on them it's hard to get into the middle on them ours rock solid but then you've got
to be scumbags and kind of slow it down and and grind it up and philly can do that where do you
guys think the scumminess pie chart needs to be for philly in order to win this series by the end
of it yes
i think it's gonna be 60 60 40 i i think a little honestly i think like tk a guy like connect me
needs to do a little less scumminess and and and play his game because he's so good he can take
over a game he can score you big goals but he he realized like to get through this first round he
had to scum it up so i respect the way he played but i think if he focused more on what he real
is really good at scoring goals you know creating uh offensive
ball
opportunities then they'll be much better off so i think a 60 40 i don't need a 70 30 a 60 60 40
arm dog thank you i think we're gonna i think we're gonna need hathaway hawking another loogie
in somebody's face in order for exactly to pull this off let him do it that's what i'm saying like
let let guys like him handle that kamikaze loogie in the face mission first game can i give a shout
out before i go boys yeah just to to our penguins team we're done for the year great group of people
that i worked with uh awesome awesome times i think it's gonna be a lot of fun i think it's gonna be
uh and to the flyers joe seville he hooked me up to do game notes while i was on the road at the
rink at morning skates in philly it's kind of like everyone kind of pulls on the rope together so he
hooked me up um give him a shout out he's kind of their media communications uh lead guy there uh
good dude uh and chef greg wanted me to say hi yeah yeah and i saw him in the parking lot yesterday
honked at me i came over he's like yeah how you doing you know he's a beauty you know i was
philly's almot guy yeah yeah he's the best top to bottom that organization one of the best like
they're just a classy organization it all started with ed schneider but i'm rooting for them man i
hope they can pull this one off it'd be a massive upset what did you say it was with minus 270 minus
275 canes are favored i know ra is gonna be all over philly when he sees those advancing in this
series yeah um army thank you buddy great job on game notes getting gretzky and crushing it
hopefully we see a little bit more on tv i'm not sure but love you yeah are you in studio at all
uh i don't know i'm waiting here so i just blocked you from coming in right well i was i was
dedicated to doing the first round i was dedicated to doing the first round so they held me to that

hello
everybody what's going on welcome to our raise world here on these spitting chickens podcast
what is up all what a front first round we had so far 75 of the series are going to
at least six games i gotta think we're getting at least two fucking game sevens out of that
the fifth time in nhl history we're all eight series in a playoff round to feature at least
one ot game and when a best of seven playoff round is tied to to the game five victor goes
on to win the series nearly 80 of the time that is probably good news if you're a vagas fan we
should jump into vagas utah boys we haven't gotten to that yet with that one yet uh brett howden
shorty you're right with i was up late i was fighting a little bit fighting a little bit but
i stayed up uh brett howden shorty wins it the second player to win a multiple overtime game
with the shorty since his teammate thomas hurdle back in uh 2019 versus ironically vegas uh pavel
dorafaya became the fourth player in nhl history with three tying goals in a playoff game and so
far in nhl history there have been 29 instances of a team trailing in the third period did each
of the first five games of a playoff series of those 29 teams 28 were behind in the series that
had already lost the series after five games the lone exception this year's vagas golden knights
some wild stuff that series people are sleeping on it it's been great the goal numbers aren't
particularly pretty but i think it's just been terrific shooting by it by each team so i've
been enjoying the hell out of that one biz what do you got for us buddy yeah no i agree probably
the most underappreciated underrated
series so far especially with like the crazy twists and turns uh to me right now the story
is boys special teams i can't believe how dog shit utah's power play has been um i think right
now as it stands seven what do you mean seven percent that's what they're at buddy they're at
seven percent they've also gave up two shorties yeah so they're they're minus one on the power
play i believe right now the special teams goals are five for the vegas golden knights compared to
one for utah and boys they had a power play in overtime last night and they fucking lost the
game with a fucking shorthanded goal by losing a draw in the offensive zone or the utah's defensive
zone and they never got out alive it's uh and biz they had just wieger had just turned it over
for a breakaway for eichel too it was like oh you get out of that and you're like thank god for
here and and then off the draw dude the way marner passed it over i think was it theodore i don't
remember it's like what is it looked like they were on the line
the power play and and i'll say man paturka he is skating around on that winning goal just doing
nothing it was if you go back and watch that goal by howden like watch where paturka is it's kind of
similar to mantha like dude pressure or at least get in the slot instead of standing to the outside
doing nothing there's no team trailing in a series that that should be more frustrated
than utah right now yeah they've had this this should be over it should be over even though they
haven't been able to get in the slot they've been able to get in the slot but they haven't been able to
get in the slot but they haven't been able to get in the slot because they haven't been able to get
in the slot but they haven't been able to get in the slot but they haven't been able to get in the slot
i find this sometimes when teams are on the power play is like when they lose it and the other team
has it in in their end sometimes like you see one guy going to it and you're kind of just like oh
he'll figure it out or he'll get it done and then even sometimes when they have two it's like they
just expect that the puck's going to come to them where they get a little bit lazadazical i hank
brought it up on the broadcast and i agree i was never a power play guys did you feel that way like
did you sometimes fall victim to it i think more so the forwards wit no i love blaming forwards i
remember thinking that in the offensive zone good power plays you lose the puck it is at least two
guys if not three and you're working your dick off to get the puck back and in the defensive zone
sometimes it's the exact opposite where you're just like oh like i'm not gonna have the chance
to get it and make a quick move at the net and create offense like we'll figure it out yeah
i do agree with that that at least in your own
zone there's times it's just like oh no worries usually there's only one guy down there vegas is
realizing like utah can't do anything on the power play let's pressure them as much as we can
up ice specifically and they get they get the winner out of that but i mean i was actually
amazed throughout this game that the amount of like two on ones they were giving up too and i'm
talking i'm talking odd man rushes on both side but you saw the gent the gunther biz the gun are
you calling them gunth vetchkin well again
thought of the guns vetchkin because he was chirping me about calling them well it was the
release last night on that one was a joke bar down and then carconi gets the other one and it was just
i was like what is vegas doing but they come back again i think theodore's been phenomenal in this
series and what's interesting about vegas at least last night was eichel was a little sleepy he was i
don't know like there was moments in that game where he didn't really look like himself he picks
it up big time and dorothy of forgetting
i think it was one shift in the third period uh of the game before or something like that he barely
played and he responds with a hat trick dude and and he could have had the overtime winner in the
first ot i think tort said after like credit to him i've been i've been on him a little bit about
up in his game and and then he did it and i just can't believe the way utah like to come back in
game four how they did and then still lose that game i mean that game i saw biz i think i think
biz tweeted it was over and then next thing you know it's four through utah he's got the tusk on
he's got the tusk thong on and they still lost so it was like you had the call correct
without seeing a a three goal lead collapse but i don't think it's over i think this one's going
seven based on the way these games have been i can't i i i said before the game started i thought
that vegas was going to win the series in six really yeah i have utah winning the series but
i just think that the experience has taken over the clutchness
um if you if you if you're watching the games not only with like the the way that the turn of
events and stuff but you're just like man utah is so much faster they're more skilled like i feel
like they're getting more scoring chances and on top of that like carter hart's not playing that
well like like his his save percentage is below 880 yes maybe he's made a couple clutch shaves
but like ultimately you're not getting the goal tending that you may be expected like if they
haven't if they have a 900 save percentage right now like they're on to the next round already
like that's you know he i think that he's he's probably let up what like four goals in in most
of the game so for for utah it's just these these brain farts and you saw one at the end of the
second period last game uh tourney calls the time out and then they figure it out and i agree with
you like vegas man they love they love fucking playing with death eh like they did the two two
on ones they gave up like the one they got the lead hannifin gets caught in the middle gunther
does a great job of tying up a stick and next thing you know he's on a two-on-one and then he's
on that yamamoto has impressed me yeah this series he's been a dog on a bone he's been
four checking and getting pucks turned over and making great plays and setting guys up but going
back did you guys i mean i'm sure you saw the the tying goal six on five they over pressure a little
bit they never really get like the 200 foot clear because they had to punt in the neutral zone and
it's just a great write-up i go gets the blue line stops up goes cross side to the weak side
deviated a little bit of pressure but to me man like marner made a great play the game prior where
he turned it over in the four check to set up a goal and then on this tying goal i don't know if
he ends up i don't think he gets an assist on it but when theodore moves it to him on the wall
the job by that middle winger is to get middle ice and then force him flush him down the wall
and marner knowing that when he gets it on the wall as soon as that guy turns around to put his
stick in the lane marner one touches it back to theodore
he doesn't even give him an opportunity to get that stick in the lane and even somewhat closing
him so all of a sudden that guy trying to force marner down the wall is out of the play gets it
to the middle that's when they work it over to eichel and and hank touched on this as well and
and and obviously i would have picked it up pop like jack eichel jack eichel's not shooting that
puck to score he knows that he has a guy at the net and he knows that he has dorothea going north
right down fucking broadway if there is a
big juicy rebound off of him going far side pat and what happens the middle guy in front of the
net gets tied up and score a fia pounces on the rebound so what a what a like what a fascinating
like player what is what is score fia i'm gonna get this summer now that he's a free agent he
started the year we started our broadcast with tnt in vegas bluntman calls a hat trick pregame
he said that he's gonna get a hattie or maybe he said there's gonna be a hat trick tonight
but his guy gets one in the opening night and then boom last night he gets one on our broadcast
again just an absolute one of those guys where if he gets one it's like okay he's getting four
he's fine our guy bluntman i watched the game uh the beginning of the game with him
monday night and he's like this guy can't play in the playoffs this guy cannot play
playoff hockey and and and buddy's then telling me i just i was just firing him up i was just
getting him going like like like he was talking to him but it doesn't really matter because
what he needed to happen actually happened and he got going i even go back to this series has
been crazy it's it sucks it's it's so late because a lot of people out east like you know the last
two go to overtime they're starting late and you're missing just if you're not watching it's
incredible hockey i mean utah won the one game getting outshot 35 to 12 so it's it's just been
weird like they've blown leads they've won a game they shouldn't have won yeah but you're right i
will say the heart has made key saves like he's ready
ones but he's yeah but he's also like on that slide on the one-timer from kirconi like
he's fucking like he's flopping like a fish there's yeah but it's a two-on-one like you
got to expect you're gonna have an because i disagree with you like the maybe the marino
goal last night i would want back but the other ones they're two-on-ones they're you know they're
nhl players you got to expect them to score on a two-on-one if they're gonna make a good
pass over and then you think he should have had the cross one last night i think you look at it
it's number oh it did five but his own d-man skates right in front of him one mile an hour
and takes away his eyes so i don't i think maybe the first one the marino goal you can put on him
and then i don't know i think he's been pretty good but then the other night in in utah like
the krauser goal there when they went up four nothing like that game he wasn't good that game's
on him so i would say that i i think that the fact that they're up three two and it's gone this way
is a major major positive for them because i think that he's gonna go uh he's gonna go to utah i think
he's gonna have a great game six and like i said i i think that they're gonna close out i picked
utah to win the series boys but they've squandered their opportunity and i don't think there's a
chance that vegas doesn't uh doesn't clinch this thing i in utah you think it's over i i think it's
over man i think i yeah i i said that after they lost game four i know based on them just getting
leads every game the last two at least i think it's over man i think it's over man i think it's over
I think they're winning this game at home.
just have to close out a game dude they just have to figure out how to end it and you can't do it
three times in a row they are so much faster than vegas like there's times vegas looks i mean mark
stone out there that guy is so good at hockey talk about hockey iq i mean him on that back check uh
what who had that breakaway it was the funniest schmaltz schmaltz he's trying and yeah and uh
on that one heart heart made a big save yeah right and he's stone he's like oh fuck he's like
you just see his face as he realized i'm not catching him but he's still stone had a breakaway
himself last night i believe because he's so good with his stick and so smart but vegas is kind of
slow i think yeah like they don't come off as like a super quick team and i know last year when
edmonton beat him that's what it was it was just edmonton outskated him and utah's done it they
just can't finish these games off um
you
i think it's going back to i think it's going back to vegas i i hey i think so but all right
we've kind of hijacked you here i'm sorry go ahead that's all right that's why i just did a
little a little sniffing behind the scenes there sorry that's all right hey biz we gotta update the
the motto from pray and sway and motherfucking pasta souffle after the other night just an unreal
goal probably get the shit out of my neighbors whatever 10 30 at night yelling and screaming
after that big goal uh i gotta think the the bond and the team are gonna be off the wall tomorrow
night uh huge win for edmonton and utah i think it's gonna be a big win for edmonton and utah i think
huge game six like i said the the the crowd was as bad as is the team last game uh like there's a
word for you so so i'm nambulant which means like basically sleepwalking uh sunday afternoon probably
not the best time for a boston crowd unless they get up with a little hair of the dog for the night
before but after the other night i can't i can't see the bond in the team not responding uh swayman
has been on rail once again we've been saying that every game but how about pasta he became
the first player in bruins history to score multiple overtime goals to stave off a
elimination his other one of course game seven so i trigger one of biz uh 2024 and there's just
the seventh overall in in history that's kind of wild i mean it's you know to stave off elimination
twice in overtime you'd think maybe you know a guy like gretzky or mario might have done it five
six times but no only the seventh guy to do it and he's done it twice so good stuff there the
bruins power penalty killing has been stellar uh the power play not not ideal but as long as you're
not like giving them up on the other end too bad i don't know i thought it was just the response
they expected the game before but yeah i'm feeling really good i'm feeling good i'm feeling good i'm
about it going back to buffalo for a game seven what what do you got five um i agree with you i
think it's going back to buffalo i got a buddy here i mentioned who went to the sabers game with
the horse face on and i saw him last night he's like oh this thing's going back to buffalo this
just that's just how this is going to play out for the sabers to finally win a series it would
be at home i think in game seven um all right i do need like give me your thoughts as you saw me
on tv with that chug or were you watching nesson no i i i
i prefer the uh the national broadcast when it's an option so i i had it on man i was just like
what the fuck is he doing like i and i get like but at that point hey who cares it's not like like
i don't wear jerseys i don't have a lot of them but i don't win to games specifically because
i know either me or somebody else is going to spill beer all over it fucking 250 dollar
yeah you know mitchell neskim neely or bobby or jersey but like that's a freebie you go off the
team it's buffalo too it should smell charity smell like fucking alcohol when they hand it to
it all all over you but i know it was a tough visual but you know what you like you always do
you step up you you owned it it was a fuck up you you you owned up to it right away and that's you
know that's all you can ask for but but it was a ugly ugly visual oh by the way uh the the bartender
who you know at the speakeasy who you know was giving me my cadillac margarita is like i'm not
gonna out her she's a sweetheart i said hey i goes uh if it goes seven get a cadillac cadillac
margarita on an ice whammy so we'll see what happens there i don't know if she's even still
working with the same oh they i i was saying
you gotta be up there for game seven buddy and have memes follow you around means is excellent
at the at the just getting all the footage dude it's been great yeah it's been a lot of that that
that how how much uh like you know people follow another boss new characters like oh shout out to
ohio state i know people don't like the hell the boss do gossip yeah but he's done a great job with
that right there's so much to be found just even little like small conversations and memes is
awesome with that no surprise there shout out to memes all right if this goes to seven are you
packing the goldfish and going up to buffalo
i think i think yeah i'm whether yeah i i think i think pretty much at this point i would have to
get up there um you know like i have no excuse not so the only thing i had penciled in the old
man and my bro that uh paulie walnuts they were gonna go up to um the former seabrook racetrack
which is now uh our you know our sponsor draft kings they have the casino there so my dad like
you know he the dog tracks like closed so my dad decided going back when they opened the casino up
because you know they got the race uh the race book and it's the kentucky derby so the boys were
going up there and i was like i texted the old man and i was like i'm gonna go up there and i'm gonna
last thing of the night before hey i what time you guys leave and he's like friday morning and i
was like okay like and now the you know the bruins won this game six at home possibly could end up
going to that game game seven and also one of my castmates i'm sure he's gonna be in town too so
he was like hey if you're around let's hang out so i'm like yeah you know and i'm not the biggest
horse guy like i'll bet the derby for shits and giggles but like you know so i'm probably gonna
hang local uh this weekend um who knows you might see me at six and seven ky so would game seven be
sunday night i believe so sunday yeah i think we're gonna be there i think we're gonna be there
we have it yeah yeah because there were there were two uh two days in between like with that series
and what you that was a great point isn't the derby isn't the derby saturday saturday yeah well
yeah but like well then well also i don't know this is probably a good time to put it i don't
own a vehicle either so i don't want to take a 80 80 fucking over from seabrook you know if like i
don't have it's not that far but i don't want to have to go up and back and like i said a buddy
reached out and said he was going to be in town this weekend so that might sway sway it this way
but i still bet the derby yeah leo and paulie walnuts they love it
the ponies keith how do you not no i don't all right how about this one and you probably got
you probably had this um the nhl's buzzing you guys big shout out you guys at tnt breeze man
shout out espn maybe the olympics i have to think has something yeah i gave us i gave everybody a
bump 83 up from last year games with 1 million games with 1 million plus viewers 2025 there was
one right now there's 19
and now granted buffalo being in philly being in pittsburgh being in big time hockey markets that
that matters but fuck hockey's in a great spot and people are loving i even saw a guy mincey
say oh my god the nhl playoffs are incredible i'm watching more and more every year so
it's you guys are doing a great job there biz and oh it's the whole league man the league's thriving
it's great to see and it's it's nice to see that like our amazing sport is getting acknowledged
where i think a lot of people just see like the blood sweat and tears and how much people care
and how invested the fans are and i think that there's like the fans reciprocate the energy of
the players and i think that that's just how sports is and yeah i think that other sports
may be not showing that and lacking that i think that we've been in from it better for it from us
and i hope that the players continue to to represent our game the way that they they have
because it's just going to keep bringing it to the moon right and like yeah it's
fucking it's actually crazy i i tweeted out that that that video of brady on the four check
going in to kill taylor hall and i'm like could you imagine being just like a regular person at
the airport watching this sport and being like what the fuck are they doing these guys are just
trying to kill each other like what are they even playing for uh just a big mug yeah even like
ocho cinco you know the former chad jobs he he tweeted about nhl hockey i was trying to like
engagement of the conversation there but so you know i i think just the
like new audience is seeing this game and they realize especially if you see in person just how
how awesome playoff hockey is and again i know i just said don't have a dick measuring contest
with the nba but when we're talking about first rounds then we literally don't want to have one
with them but well i get it yeah you'll visualize like total viewership wise but like we'd be in
trouble versus versus we'd be in fucking man bingo over here but even all ours together we might not
oh one oh even the little light head is not like holy fuck last night um
devorex on the bench bleeding out of his fucking eyeball he has to change his jersey because he
has to you can't go out there with blood all over your jersey and he's out there the next shift like
these guys are complete and utter warriors and like if you don't enjoy that and seeing what
these guys do to you know win a game win a series if you can't respect that you don't know what
sports is and i think finally now hockey's getting the uh respect that it deserves i forgot to
mention with merles too that we were sitting there and 10 minutes into the game i was like
i cannot believe the pace of this game it was so fast there was zero room on the ice and i know
this is about being there in person and i get these tickets are ridiculous we're lucky enough
to get tickets from the savers for that night and it's just so ridiculous to be at a playoff game in
and you see the size of the guys the speed and the lack of room you have to make plays and even
then then what's going on right now it it was incredible like seeing the size of tage thompson
flying through the neutral zone yeah he got the puck in front of the net took four strides he's
crossing over the offensive blue line i'm like what like it's just wild it's so cool yeah i went
and did that buffalo game live it was actually against philly and i i tage was the one guy i was
like holy shit this guy's a house out here and he can move so yeah great job and and uh and i think
that like
i mean the the way that they do the brackets like i know we're not crazy about it sometimes but i
feel like like this year like gary maybe deserves a little credit maybe gary deserves a little credit
yeah i i think that i think that was always always sort of overblown like the thing is like
there's so many good teams in the league right now that yeah good teams are gonna lose early
like you gotta beat four fucking nhl teams to win the stanley cup and sometimes it's the toughest
round is your first round sometimes it's the fourth usually early so i i thought that criticism
was overblown biz and you know i don't think there was any rush to go back to uh you know
uh one through eight and and right now like like whoever like well i mean we still have boston
montreal and buffalo from the old adams division whatever if any two of those three teams were to
play each other in the next round that's like hockey point to an old fuck like me like an old
adams division thing what do you got witty a sabers fan came up to me and he's like hey think of this
think of what could happen with us the old adams division right we take down in the first round the
bruins and then the next round we take down the habs and then the next round we take down the old
hartford whalers and then in the cup final we take down the old quebec nordiques
it was that gift i was like oh shit he's like we're gonna run through the whole adams division
for our cup and then i chucked that beer and they lost that that that's still even to come
up with that like i can't believe i haven't seen that somewhere else out there holy shit
that is wild mind this can't be the way though that uh that the the buffalo sabers like lose
out this can't be the way you look like that's what murr said but it would be the way it's like
it's buffalo that's the scary thing it's buffalo man uh i know you guys uh mentioned the awards
earlier a couple we do have a few finalists out obviously they they do these i believe right around
the stanley cup final i know they've changed it the last few years but for the vesna yeah
jeremy swayman uh ilia sorokin and uh vasilevsky those are the three finalists no shock there
uh the ted lindsey award which is the mvp award which a lot of people give this more credence than
they do the hot trophy because it's voted on by peers and uh not media guys who don't see
everybody play as much uh kucherov mcdavid and our boy celebrini who just had a magnificent
incredible insane year for a 19 year old kid and the lady bing just came out a few minutes ago g
seth rova uh cole caulfield andre kopata and jake sanderson i think pretty much i don't even without
even looking at the pimps i think you know who's probably going to get this one this year and i
gave him his flowers last week andre kopata uh also we want to send our condolences to the family
and friends of our john
garrett he was a longtime canucks analyst passed away at 74 and it was a great highlight uh someone
shared online i'm sorry i forget who she had it but uh it was gordie how's last ever goal in the
nhl was during a playoff game when he was playing with hartford versus montreal and and cheech
assisted on it he was the second assist on gordie how's last right last ever goal so you know man
that that that's a great legacy right there thanks i know he was terrible he was in utah in the middle
of doing that series and i i was just crushed that's that's brutal got to meet him you know i'm
the canucks and i love i loved him on the call you'd go to the late night game when it was in
vancouver hockey night in canada he was awesome and that was it was so sudden it's just yeah i'm
glad you brought that up so that i mean yeah like obviously the sports and that guy's covered it and
and spoke about him juice uh um obviously when he was playing with the canucks he talked about how
he when he would uh when he would walk on the plane he'd have a lot of fun and he'd have a lot of
fun and he'd have a full full thing of wine all the way up to the brim ra and he was just one of
those guys too like very quick-witted and would like shit on you and you know obviously juice is
that type of guy too so they developed a really good relationship and obviously sports net murph
and those guys so our heart goes out to everybody in the hockey community who knew him and and and
loved him apparently he was just like the best guy i got to meet him a few times very briefly
never got to have like like long long interactions but even jeff jacobs
and got to go to to meet him for lunch uh i think it was like six weeks ago and he said couldn't have
been a nicer guy and and just like just like you said like a great storyteller and an unbelievable
person how cool was it too that he was 74 he was still doing games oh and he still had it yeah i
know i didn't realize he was he was you know 74 because because of how quick-witted he was right
and he wasn't slowing down at all just a gut punch right there if you yeah if you if you guys haven't
seen the clip uh
anybody listening of of uh kevin bx talking about him on the hockey night in canada panel
uh go check that out and i'm sure that any of those podcasts or are um um you know any of the
people that knew him who do media i'm sure they're going to have great stories about him from behind
the scenes as to what as to how they he brightened up their day so just a really a really shitty
thing and thanks for covering it already i knew you would no of course and plus i need and he's
like cheats he's got to be a pretty cool guy right yeah with the
stash and also that yeah sad news again uh our sympathies to all friends friends family and of
course the connects family as well uh some you know news bubbling out of toronto we'll keep it
to a minimum because it's the leafs but uh it looks like john shaker and matt sundin are going
to sort of team up and take over the maple leafs front office here uh matt sundin with like minimal
or no like front office experience which i don't i think we've seen enough guys in the past
where it might not necessarily matter marty san luis behind the bench in montreal
our friend keith jones with you know taking over in philly things have been going so
far so good under him so that's uh sort of be the scuttlebutt business are you okay with this
it feels like almost like they're combining the chicklets a formula combining a jock and a nerd
you know me and wit with like sanita and shaker yeah and like i think it's like obvious that his
first uh first stint in arizona i don't think that he had that or maybe he had the ability to have
that and and neglected if not pigeon tossed it um i'm i don't i'm not going to really comment it
okay and i've also just been so much more focused on like the gameplay and everything going on that
like i'll i'll formulate a better opinion once i kind of get information and talk to some people
once it's all said and done but um yeah i mean just also just because someone made some bad
decisions and fucked up and you know maybe wasn't the best of guys uh when they were younger and
handed the keys at a very young age and and can you know you could be negligent at that time
i don't think he should have been in the position he was in arizona to begin with
so i'm not saying i i'm not saying like you know like the him getting fired and everything that
happened in arizona and and like all this just like the the fine and all the bullshit from like
the the quote-unquote cheating um all that was obviously deserved but you know people can live
and learn right so we'll we'll see i'll talk to some more people and formulate a better opinion
on it but i'd rather just focus on the awesome hockey we got going on now
and who gives a fuck about the leafs right now oh wow oh let's get that on record hey best time to
fuck up is when you're younger than you get more time for forgiveness right yeah yeah uh hey we'll
do like i know we're wrapping up here let's do one quick all right hamilton i know yeah yandeli
was asking for a little while back let's be nice here we don't want to dump on any cities i thought
this was an interesting one it's from uh mitchell at m prude home 7 what is your favorite underrated
or smaller destination you've been in been to in the u.s favorite mid to large city you've been to
so obviously you know throw out new york
chicago vegas miami boss like you know throw those out and you know something a little under
under the radar that you would say hey man that's a great place to go go there i'll go i'll go first
i'll go with the highlands in north carolina uh amazing spot like unreal you can go on your busy
hikes they got great hikes uh golf's amazing food's amazing and it's like a quiet little quaint
little area where not a ton of people around um but yeah beautiful friendly people i'd probably put
my uh my 1a for a little quiet little quaint little town where exactly is is that north carolina i have
like it's like the highlands like you fly into uh hold on let me try to love yeah no yeah i'm not
i'm not being a geography dick i'm gonna i'm gonna stay in the carolinas and go charleston
oh i heard it i heard it's beautiful there it's just amazing beautiful it's it's they got king
street down there restaurants bars they got great golf the weather's phenomenal obviously the summers
are real hot but those shorts and shorts are just beautiful it's just beautiful it's just beautiful
seasons down there are awesome uh been over to daniel island where our boy creche and krug live
um that's somewhat near charleston it is it is awesome and like you know it's about 40 minutes i
think from the kiowa area it's it's a great place down there and i i'm sure that the population has
exploded a little bit in the past five six years but it it's a hidden gem busy boy interesting i
gotta check that out i i've heard nothing but good things and they have like beautiful
architecture there like all the old like the college of charleston's right there it's yeah
the old southern look with the big tree i don't know what's what's something those trees but
it's great ah for me i would i mean i obviously i would say jackson hole wyoming if you haven't
been there it's a very small quaint place um it's not a big population uh i've talked about driving
through bozeman i love bozeman i think it's like one of those like throwback cities where they kept
the integrity of all the old buildings and i think it's like one of those like throwback cities
and it's just like a beautiful downtown area they got like a great main strip and then of course
around it like you can go to big sky not too far away and you just see the beautiful beautiful
mountains and stuff i'm a i'm a big west guy like i like the west for that reason these pictures of
the bozeman downtown it's stunning their main drag is is awesome it's in montana yeah yeah yeah just
like if you it's about four hours from jackson actually i drive up through the park and then
come out that side um and like if and then if you're in the middle of the city you're like
and obviously i think that big sky is like obviously they got the great skiing but it's
it seemed like they very cookie cutter
and the way that they built it up i was actually pretty shocked as to how like uh like it just like
it looked like a makeshift part of the like makeshift city people might correct me here
there's like a different area in big sky where you're like oh no you got to go here but i went
to the resort and and checked like just checked around that area and i was a little bit let down
outside of how beautiful and like predominant the mountains were um outside of that sedona
sedona is a fun place arizona arizona is a very very underrated state yeah flagstaff sedona there's
some other little pockets as well you can go up to page um where they're you're like right on the
border of of utah um yeah i canab canab is a cool place because the part the national parks right
there i'm drawing a blank on uh on what the park is called keith i saw you furiously on google maps
there did you come up with that
uh where we're where the highlands are we'll go to g and i said i was trying i was trying to
remember the hotel that i stayed out there it's called the old edwards inn it's incredible um
but uh i'll look up where you fly in scottish highlands all right g g what do you got for us
buddy uh i would have to say and i'm not just saying this because i'm getting married there
but newport rhode island it's i heard it's awesome yeah i've been going there in the summer since i
was you know in in college with buddies getting a place down there going out downtown you got
o'brien's where saturdays are for the boys was
famously invented uh unreal golf great food great great downtown uh you got the landing which is
that unreal bar with the live music right on the water so yeah newport rhode island is uh it's the
top of the list for me good good stuff i i got i mean i got a couple new england spots first comes
to my portland maine which is an extremely underrated city great tremendous restaurants
beers like anything you want to go on vacation for scenery water's a little chilly if you want
to go for a dip ski but that also in new england burlington vermont where uvm is just a sort of a
quintessential college town but a quintessential new england town as well uh don't get up there
too often but when i do i enjoy it and then out out of new england i love the saint pete florida area
uh you know i even like say from saint pete down to sarasota i'm pretty familiar with
anything around there the gulf coast i you know like it much more than the atlantic side just for
the seas the sunsets alone it's a true actual sunset you know that you can actually see the sun
but uh yeah those three spots right there i would tell people if you go to any of them you'll have a
great time no matter what so well boys it's been a ripper of a playoff so far i love doing this
twice a week it's been fun i'm exhausted three fucking coffees man to get me jacked up for this
monday we got we got whatever happens with the oilers we got whatever happens with the bruins
monday's show there's gonna be storylines boys there's gonna be plenty of them no matter what
and um thank you everyone for tuning in once again thanks to merles thanks to
me thank you uh to ra g memes for following me around making a fool out of myself
love you all have a great great weekend
but it's taking time and i know you don't let it it's gonna happen it's gonna happen again
